Happy Acres is a great place for children to learn, play, and feel loved. We love happy acres for our daughter and she loves attending school.

All three of my children have attended Happy Acres, so know that this review is from a parent with a lengthy history with the school. My children love it here! My youngest wakes up looking forward to learning every day and has participated in a broad range of enrichment activities from sign language, spanish, MyGym to a variety of arts and crafts. The staff is cognizant of the need to provide children with a healthy lunch. Several options are available and as a working parent, not making lunch every day is a convenience. My kids eat raw broccoli ( I don’t even like broccoli that much) because they are used to snacking on it with carrots at school. My oldest child has since gone on to grade school and is a stellar student. I attribute some of this success to the excellent Pre-K4 foundation he received at Happy Acres. That instruction focused not only on the curriculum, but also the individual character and growth of my child. Ultimately, I don’t just want my children to be taught – I want them to be loved as well. There have been a few transitions- as life tends to happen, but thoughtful consideration is given to selecting the best teachers and the diversity is exemplary. I love that my kids see teachers and children who look like them and many that do not. This subtly shows them the beauty of such differences and how to appreciate each others customs and culture.Honestly, as a parent, wherever you go you will never find anyone that will teach and love your child as best as YOU can, but I can say that Happy Acres strives to live up to its motto ‘ where love and learning go hand in hand’. For that reason, I am proud to give this review and encourage any parent to give it a try.

I would not recommend this school to anyone. The the equippment is outdated. The lunches and snacks are not healthy ones. Teachers don’t play close attention to the students on the playground. The area is too wooded with lots of unwanted animals seen on the playground from deers, snakes, groundhogs and frogs. The toys are outdated and the prices are way to high. The staff is unprofessional.

70 Best and Creative Indoor and Outdoor Ideas
The Best Ideas for Kids/Dream a Little Bigger
The phrase parents dread the most comes in a short, two-word statement, but it packs a gut punch: “I’m bored.” Those words can come at any time, at any place, no matter how many toys they have or no matter what the screen-time situation is.
But parents don’t have to fear boredom any longer with this list of the best activities for kids in 2022, meant to cut ennui off at the pass. Most of them only require materials that are probably already somewhere around the house (though you might have to supplement with a specific art supply or two). They’re designed to get kids to use their creativity and imaginations, or get them up and active, or have them practice certain skills like matching or memory or some combination of all of the above. But most of all, they’re designed to be fun, which means they’ll get so lost in their projects that they’ll forget they were ever at a loss for something to do to begin with.
Not enough boredom-busters? If the kids in question are more into crafts than activities, we have suggestions for all kinds of crafts for kids in every season, including summer crafts for kids, fall crafts for kids and winter crafts for kids (and also projects for holidays like Thanksgiving, Halloween, Christmas, Easter, Mother’s Day and Father’s Day). If they’re drawn more to the activities than the crafts, you can find more ideas for backyard games, at-home science experiments, learning activities for preschoolers, learning activities for toddlers, fun activities for toddlers and activities for 1-year-olds. No matter what they’re into, they’ll find something to amuse themselves.

30 educational and entertaining games
Every mother of a five-year-old often feels the same as the heroine of the cartoon “Go Monkeys!”. Preschoolers simply have inexhaustible reserves of energy that need to be directed in the right direction. As the well-known song rightly says, every small child must “run and jump, grab everything, kick with his feet, otherwise he will explode: bang bang – and he’s gone.” Therefore, we suggest that parents study games with a child of 5 years old – firstly, the baby will be busy with work, and secondly, it is in the process of playing that children develop and learn something new. In addition, joint classes contribute to the creation of close contact between parents and children. Time spent together is the best gift you can give your child. nine0003
What kind of games for a child of 5 years to choose? If your kid is active and regularly puts the whole house on his ears, then dance or sports games will come to the rescue. Does your five-year-old like to sing, dance, and put on home theater performances? Here you need fun that will help develop creativity. Assiduous kids who love to think, read, learn, intellectual entertainment is suitable (for example, board games, games in English, psychological games, etc. ).
Kidpassage will tell you what games parents should take into account with children of 5 years old. With our tips, every adult can easily entertain a bored child, teach him something new and just have fun together. nine0003

Games with a 5-year-old child at home together
You don’t need a big company to have fun. There are many educational and interesting games for two. It can be a game of a mother with a child of 5 years old or joint activities of two children.
Quiet games for two – checkers, chess, Sea Battle, Tic-Tac-Toe and more. However, it is recommended to alternate calm and active games, because children cannot sit still for a long time, they definitely need to move around, throw out excess energy. nine0003
1. “Fish, birds, animals”
Props : rubber ball.
This is a game that is very similar to “Edible – Inedible”, but in a newer, unhackneyed interpretation. The leader throws the ball to the participant and says one word: “fish”, “birds” or “animals”. The participant must answer the corresponding name of the representative of the fauna. So, the leader says “fish”, the participant answers “pike” and returns the ball.
2. “Sumo Tournament”
Props : two large home t-shirts, rope, two pillows, two straps.
This game is suitable for two children of about the same age. A rope is made into a circle, and with the help of pillows, straps and T-shirts, children turn into sumo wrestlers. The task of young sumo wrestlers is to push the enemy out of the circle.
Interesting games for two at home are easy to come up with on your own: it can be tug of war, and basketball with a wastebasket and hand-made balls from A4 sheets, and entertainment with dressing up, and dancing. nine0056
Games for children 5 years old at home
Parents often have a question about what to do with their child at home. Bad weather on the street, holidays at school or quarantine in kindergarten – and now the baby is already bored in the apartment or entertains himself with gadgets. However, as soon as parents turn on their imagination and involve the child in the gameplay, boredom disappears instantly! Sofa cushions and blankets turn into a fairy-tale palace, a mop becomes a knight’s sword, and a house cat becomes a fire-breathing dragon. After a while, the laundry basket already turns into a basketball basket, and an old T-shirt stuffed with padding polyester into a soft ball, safe for mirrors and furniture. What to do at home with a child of 5 years old is not a problem for creative moms and dads! nine0003
3. “Border on the castle”
Props : blanket, soft toys.
The room should be divided into two parts with a blanket – the “border”. On one side is the child, on the other is the parent. Each participant in the game has the same number of toys. On command, the players must transfer as many of their “shells” as possible to the side of the enemy.
Important: use only soft toys (hollow rubber balls, balloons) to avoid injury, damage to furniture and mirrors in the house. nine0056
4. “New life of old objects”
Props : box or bag with various household items.
Various items are placed in the box: cubes, a broom, kitchen utensils, pens and pencils. The child pulls out one item at a time and, together with his parents, comes up with how it can be used again. So, a broom can turn into a bouquet if you decorate it with beads and ribbons, and pots make good helmets for motorcycle racing. nine0003
Didactic games
Didactic or educational games are the main tool for kindergarten and primary school teachers, but parents can also use educational games to not only have fun, but also spend time with their children in a useful way.
As a rule, educational games involve the use of various visual materials. These can be story cards, cubes with letters, numbers or image fragments, cards and much more. nine0003
5. “Detective and robbers”
One of the participants is assigned as a robber who needs to hide from the detective. The host should come up with some kind of detective story in advance. In order for the robber not to be seen through, he needs to properly disguise himself. The rogue leaves the room and changes something about his appearance, and investigators need to notice and point out these changes. The game perfectly develops imagination, associative thinking and memory.
6. “True or False”
The facilitator names different facts, some of them are true, some are not. If the children hear the truth, they clap their hands; if they hear a lie, they stomp their feet. To make it more interesting, facts can be thought up in poetic form, for example:
Daisies bloom in the garden in winter ( not true ),
The iron will iron your shirts ( true),
In winter, hares have black fur ( not true ),
The lion in Africa is the most cowardly of all ( not true ).
Music games
This category includes two types of entertainment – dance games and singing. Musical games are good because they allow you to reveal the creative abilities of the baby, as well as spend extra energy. Every hyperactive child will appreciate the fun, where you can dance to your heart’s content. nine0003
7. “Invented song”
Props : task cards, backing tracks of various melodies.
Singing is a great way to cheer up, especially if you sing funny funny songs of your own composition. The child draws a card with a task written on it (“a song of a hungry wolf”, “a foreigner who does not speak Russian well”, “sad bells”, etc.). The task of the participant is to complete the task either to the backing track of a well-known melody, or a cappella, without musical accompaniment. nine0003
8. “Aram-zam-zam”
At the beginning of the game, the parent shows the movements:
“aram-zam-am” – claps on the knees, three times, with repetition;
“ghoul-ghoul-ghoul-ghoul” – rotations in front of the chest with arms bent at the elbows, clenched into a fist;
“arafik-arafik” – leaning forward with arms crossed on the chest, first from left to right, then from right to left.
When the child remembers the movements, you can move on to the game. The essence of the game is to correctly repeat the dance when the song is turned on. The catch is that the tempo of the melody gets faster each time. nine0003
9. “Guess the performer”
Props : a record of songs performed by various cartoon or fairy-tale characters, and cards with images of these performers.
This game perfectly develops the musical memory of five-year-olds. The rules are quite simple: the parent plays a fragment of a song from the cartoon to the child, and the child must choose an artist card. You can complicate the task and take songs and characters that are not familiar to the young player so that he can guess the artist according to the meaning of the song. For example, include a fragment of the song “Chunga-Changa”, which will correspond to a picture of funny little islanders. You can also let them listen to the line “And then my girlfriends are leeches and frogs,” and the child must guess that it is Vodyanoy who sings. nine0003
Board games
Properly selected board games may well replace full-fledged developmental activities. “Monopoly” will teach you how to count, “Scrabble” (aka “Scrabble”) – to compose and learn new words, “Alies” will pump up the acting abilities of children. First of all, board games help to improve mathematical skills, because in any game you need to keep track of moves and points earned. Not to mention the fact that this is an excellent training of perseverance, thinking and attention. nine0003
Entertaining games in this category can be of different topics: about animals and plants, dinosaurs, fairy-tale worlds, connected with history or literature, etc. It is important to choose exactly the topic that the child is keenly interested in – then it will be much easier for him to learn the rules and join the gameplay.
Tables also come with cards, chips, dice, puzzles. The simplest ones are “walkers”, where you need to roll a die and move a chip on the playing field for the number of steps that have fallen out. The most difficult type of board games are strategies, where you need to calculate your every move and think about what consequences it may have. Five-year-olds are also very fond of funny games, such as Twister. nine0003
DIY board games for children
10. “Puzzles”
Props : pre-prepared puzzle pieces.
You can buy a ready-made puzzle, but it’s much more interesting to make it yourself. Parents together with their children can draw a picture on a sheet of cardboard, and then cut it into several parts, or approach the task more creatively and apply their own drawing: for example, on several ice cream sticks, pebbles, cotton pads, and so on. nine0003
11. “Flea”
Props : chips, coin.
This is a popular game played by our mothers and fathers, grandparents. On the edge of the chip, the role of which can be played by a small stone, bean / pea, the player presses with a coin, as a result of which the chip bounces like a flea. The essence of the game is that as many player’s fleas as possible “jump” onto the opponent’s playing field. The playing field can be made from a box of chocolates by dividing it in the middle with a straight line. nine0003
Games for a group of children aged 5
Playgrounds, playrooms or parties tend to be crowded with children who also need to be organized and offered fun activities. Group games can be sedentary (quizzes, riddles, puzzles) or active (relay races, races). All children will definitely enjoy an exciting quest, which combines the moment of an intellectual game – the search for clues and clues, and an element of activity, because, as a rule, you need to run for clues. Five-year-olds love to compete, so you can offer them team games on the score. nine0003
12. “Human knot”
Children hold hands and, at the command of the leader, begin to get tangled without disengaging their hands. After the “Stop” command, the leader must unravel this human knot without breaking the hands of the participants. You can complicate the game and limit the time of unraveling. If the leader does not meet the deadline, then the children unhook their hands and rush in all directions, and the leader must catch one of the participants. Whoever falls into his hands becomes the new leader.
13. Centipedes
This is a fun game for a group of children. Participants line up and hold the one in front by the belt, thus forming a long centipede. At the command of the lead centipede, it must simultaneously perform the following tasks:
raise the right paws;
raise left legs;
run in circles;
move back;
catch your tail;
move forward by jumping.
In addition, you can arrange an obstacle course for the centipede or blindfold the “head” – the one in front.
Logic games
Games for the development of logical thinking are held in kindergarten and primary school, some tasks parents can take on board and deal with the child on their own. No kid is born with the ability to think logically, this is an exclusively acquired skill that must be developed from childhood. In this, the association game, puzzle, matching, quiz will help teachers and parents. nine0003
14. Trick problems
To solve trick problems, children need to be attentive and use their imagination. Such tasks also teach that sometimes you need to deviate from the usual algorithm in order to find the right solution.
Questions that can serve as an example of logical problems:
What is impossible to eat for breakfast? (lunch or dinner).
What is as big as an elephant but weighs nothing? (Shadow of an elephant).
The girl dropped her ring into the coffee, but the jewelry remained dry. Why? (Coffee was not a drink, but was in beans or ground). nine0012
What does half an apple look like most? (For the second half).
What invention allows you to see through walls? (Window).
15.
“Guess the object”
The host hides a small object in his fist. The child must guess what it is by asking leading questions that can only be answered with “yes” or “no”. For each correct answer, the leader extends one finger until the whole fist is opened, or the child can simply guess until the end, until the answers lead him to a clue. nine0003
The same principle can be used to play theme games and guess, for example, animals, fairy-tale or cartoon characters, etc.
Educational games
The main goal of cognitive games is to teach a child something new, to expand his knowledge about the world around him, to replenish his vocabulary. These can be games about dinosaurs, space, the world around us, seasons and much more.
16. Orchard
Props : images of fruit and forest trees, cards with drawings of fruits.
The child needs to find exactly the trees that grow in the garden, and attach cards of the corresponding fruits to them. When choosing a tree, the child should pronounce its name and explain what helped him to recognize the tree (leaf shape, bark, fruits). Parents should be told how fruit trees differ from forest trees, what fruits can be seen on certain types of trees, and so on. nine0003
17. “Professions”
Children need to complete the poems:
The pilot lifts the blue sky… (airplane).
The roof is being painted before the children’s eyes… (painters).
Every day a newspaper is brought to our house by… (postman).
I have been treating dolls since morning, today I… (nurse).
The facilitator should be told about each profession, you can ask the child what he knows about it.
nine0008 Math games
Useful mathematical games will strengthen the knowledge of oral and written counting among five-year-olds. Such fun will be an excellent preparation for school.
18. “Missing number”
Requisite : cards with numbers from 0 to 9.
The leader lines up the numbers in a row, first hiding one or several. The task of the child is simple – to find out which numbers are missing in the digital series. You can lay out all the numbers correctly, then ask the child to turn away and remove one card or swap several cards. nine0003
19. “Big construction site”
Props : 2-3 toy trucks, bricks, “Lego” and other “building materials”.
Invite your child to play builders. The truck needs to take 12 cubes to the construction site. All of them will not fit into one car, the child needs to find a solution to the problem (use two cars, each of which will have six cubes; also ask the preschooler the question: “And if you take three cars, how many cubes will each of them have?”) . nine0003
In addition, you can perform various “building” tasks with the help of “Lego”. For example, build a tower with seven blue blocks and three red blocks, then add three green blocks and subtract one blue block, etc.
New Year games
New Year is the favorite holiday of all children. Every year, kids look forward to decorating a beautiful Christmas tree, hanging an advent calendar on the wall and counting down the days until Santa Claus arrives. But it is the parents, and not the fabulous red-nosed Grandfather, who give children a magical holiday. To make the New Year fun and memorable, you should carefully choose options for entertainment. It is recommended to alternate active fun and games at the table, dance competitions and quizzes. nine0003
Children’s Christmas games: how to have fun on the most magical night of the year
20. “Dress up the Christmas tree”
Props : bag, party paraphernalia, clothing elements, funny accessories.
For this game, you can divide into two teams, then there will be two “Christmas trees” that you need to dress up. One participant from each team is designated as a “Christmas tree”, all other players take turns blindly taking one item out of the bag and dress up their “New Year’s beauty”. nine0003
21. “Bring a snowball”
Props : cotton snowballs, spoons.
Guests are divided into two teams and lined up. Each first participant takes a spoon in his teeth, on which he puts a “snowball”. The player’s task is to run to the Christmas tree and back as quickly as possible, without dropping his burden, and pass the baton to the next participant.
Speech therapy games
“No detectives. No giggles, but short and clear: fifks! – a phrase from the work of V. Dragunsky “Deniskin’s story”, which became an aphoristic joke. But in every joke, as you know, there is a fair amount of truth. Indeed, many preschool children have difficulty pronouncing certain letters, and in fact, beautiful clear speech is of great importance in adulthood. Parents can help their child practice pronunciation, but turn speech therapy exercises into an exciting pastime. nine0003
22. “Guess what sounds”
Phonemic games help preschoolers to distinguish sounds by ear and, as a result, pronounce them more correctly. In addition, correct phonetic perception affects the level of understanding of what was said.
The simplest version of the phonemic game is to choose a few objects that make sounds (squeaker toy, tambourine, pot lids, etc.). The child closes his eyes, and the parent uses one of these items, after which the kid must guess it. nine0003
23. “Feed the kids”
Props : images of the faces of a boy and a girl with slits in place of the mouth, cards with images of products and other items.
Word games, as a rule, are aimed specifically at the development and correction of speech. The game “Feed the kids” also develops thinking. There are several options:
The host calls the letter, and the child must “feed” the drawn boy and girl with food that begins with it (for example, the letter “P”, products: fish, rice, radish). nine0012
The host says: “Feed Masha with bakery products, and Misha with meat products.” The child chooses products and at the same time says: “Masha ate a sandwich, and Misha ate a barbecue. ”
The facilitator can also name the products (you can come up with a small poem from the names of the dishes), and the child must determine by ear which of the named products are among the cards given to him.
24. Capricious doll
The game is aimed at developing speech, gives children an understanding of what antonyms and synonyms are. The host invites the children to play with a capricious doll, which does everything the other way around, and even teases. The host says: “Doll, go to sleep, it’s already night outside the window!”, And the child answers for the doll: “No, it’s day outside the window!”; presenter: “Cover, otherwise it’s cold”, puppet: “No, it’s hot now!” nine0003
Attention games
Games like Spot the Differences, tasks where you need to remember the location of cards, search for errors and inconsistencies are excellent for developing attention.
25. “Strange Beasts”
The leader reads the story, the children listen attentively. As soon as the child notices inaccuracies in the narration, he immediately claps his hands.
Example of a story:
Once in a hot winter, a hare with a long fluffy tail and short ears decided to build a hibernation den for himself. He began to dig a deep hole and frightened off a fox, which was just nesting in a tree. Suddenly, a blue wolf jumped out at the hare, but the hare was not at a loss and decided to swallow it, then he grunted in fright and disappeared into the forest thicket. Then the hare picked up spruce branches so that he could sleep softly on them in the den. And all around – beauty: flowers bloom, butterflies fly, berries ripen, in a word – winter! nine0003
26. “Repeat the route”
The child is blindfolded and guided along an easy route. The task of the participant is to repeat this path as accurately as possible. The facilitator can give verbal prompts: “Three steps forward, turn right, four steps forward, turn left, etc.” In the future, the exercise is complicated by additional actions or obstacles. “Three steps forward, now step over the obstacle. One small step back, turn around and take two steps forward.” You can also give deceptive hints – for example, the leader says: “Turn right”, although there were no turns on the route to be repeated. The child should not fall for this bait. nine0003
Role play
Story games are of great importance in the development of five-year-olds, because it is through the game that children learn to interact in society. “Mothers and Daughters” shows the traditional family model, the hospital game illustrates the relationship between the patient and the doctor, teaches the rules of behavior in the clinic, and the kindergarten game can tell parents a lot about what happens to the child in the kindergarten group.
What kind of theatrical games can be offered to a five-year-old? Lots of options! nine0003
27. “Bunny’s Birthday”
Props : toys, dishes (toy or disposable).
Invite the child to imagine that the Bunny (or other toy) has a birthday today. He invited his friends, and now Bunny needs to set a table for them. Guests also need to follow the rules of etiquette during the feast and prepare a gift and congratulations for Bunny.
During this game, preschoolers will learn the rules of courtesy, learn how to behave at a party and set the table, as well as expand their vocabulary (“name day”, “serving”, “service”, “meal” and others). nine0003
28. “Flight into space”
Props : illustrations of our planet from space, other planets and celestial bodies.
Almost every preschooler would be happy with the idea of going on a space trip. But to become an astronaut, you need to pass a medical examination, pass sports standards and learn a lot of important points (what is gravity, how astronauts eat, etc.). During the “space flight” the parent or leader talks about the planets, celestial bodies, galaxies. It will be even more interesting if the astronauts meet with aliens – invite the child to establish contact with the inhabitants of Mars or Venus and tell them about the Earth. nine0003
Outdoor games for children 5 years old
Every parent needs to know not only what to play at home with a 5-year-old child, but also how to entertain their child on the street. It is not enough just to bring the kids to the playground and leave them to themselves, you need to offer them examples of children’s games, tell the rules and maybe even take part in children’s fun.
Some children’s games at the age of 5 are considered timeless classics and never go out of style. You can offer children entertainment from your childhood: “Classics”, “Rezinochka”, “Bouncer”, “Hide and Seek”, “Cossacks-robbers” and others. And you can also learn something new, parents are advised not to limit themselves to options from the past, but to regularly look for original ideas for games with a child of 5 years old. nine0003
Children’s outdoor play: 17 replacements for shooters, fighting games and arcades
29. “Flight of the owl”
Parent/facilitator – “owl”, child/children – “mice”. When the host says “Day”, the mice run and frolic, but as soon as the command “Night” sounds, everyone should freeze in random poses. At night, an owl comes out to hunt, the task of mice is not to move or make any sounds. To make the game more interesting, the owl may try to make the frozen mice laugh.
30. “Museum of wildlife”
Props : cards with the inscriptions “Grass”, “Earth”, “Tree”, etc.
Invite the child to create a museum of wildlife and prepare interesting exhibits for this. The search for exhibits will be an exciting activity, during which the parent will tell the child a lot of interesting things about the world around them. When the exhibits are found, they need to be placed in the museum and put next to the corresponding card – this task is especially useful for five-year-olds, because usually at this age children learn to read. nine0003
Tips for parents: words should be written in large block letters. You can also write them in certain colors: “Grass” – green, “Cone” – brown, “Sand” – yellow, etc.
It is difficult to think of a more natural activity for a child than play. It is through the game that the child develops, learns the world around him and learns to interact with it, reveals his creative abilities. In addition, joint games with a 5-year-old child help create a warm, friendly atmosphere in the family. nine0003
Time spent playing with a child is a huge contribution to a child’s development. If you want to be a friend to your child and gain his boundless trust, then do not underestimate the value of joint games. “My husband and I joined the MKU family in 2018. We recognized a need for exemplary childcare in our community in 2017, and attempted to start a Montessori school on our own. That process was not short on trials and tribulations, and ultimately we were unable to identify a bank with the gusto to partner with us having minimal experience with childcare. One of the banks that we were talking to had an agent that suggested we look for a franchise with a successful business plan to bridge the gap of our lack of experience. We found that with MKU. In hindsight we could have created a cocktail of failures in trying to start our own school. As the time went on we became thankful for unanswered prayers, and even more thankful that we had a resource in MKU to bridge the gap of our limited knowledge. MKU helped us in finding an outstanding location, negotiating a lease, a tried and true process, and a vendor relationship base that was turnkey. We’re very proud to be an extension of the franchise that will undoubtedly become a wholesale brand in the world of Montessori teaching. Our tenure is short, but the impact that we’ve been blessed to pass on to our community is beyond explanation. We can’t wait to see what’s in store for the future of our franchise relationship with MKU, and look forward to a long lasting partnership.”

“My wife and I were both working long hours at our jobs while raising our infant and two year old daughters. We rarely saw each other and were basically living paycheck to paycheck. It was almost time to start our daughters in preschool so we began researching local schools and found that tuition rates were more than our mortgage and most of the schools we visited didn’t even offer the quality of education we were looking for. It was time for a career change. We started looking into childcare franchises and found Montessori Kids Universe. As a former Montessori preschool student, I knew the Montessori name and the quality of education that it provided. We met with MKU Franchising shortly thereafter and found that it was exactly what we were looking for. We committed to MKU and with their help we found our location, built our business plan and obtained funding with ease. We are so thankful to all of our staff and teachers dedication to their jobs and the families that call MKU Homewood their school and home. We look forward to a very bright future and are so blessed to be a part of the MKU family!”

“After staying home and raising our children for 7 years, Jordan was ready to re-enter the workforce. We began seeking quality childcare for our children and were faced with the stark reality of the childcare crisis in our community. Brad had also been toiling away at high stress career in Agriculture for several years and was looking for a change that was more family friendly. After months of weighing our options, we decided WE were going to do something about it. Due to our lack of experience, we began researching childcare franchises. After talking to various companies, MKU was the obvious choice. It is truly a family run company that provides top notch support and expertise. Through funding, design, licensing, hiring, and opening they were right alongside of us every step of the way. Taking a chance on ourselves and on MKU was the best decision we have ever made for the security and freedom of our family! For anyone looking for a career change or just looking to start something special for their community, we can’t recommend Montessori Kids Universe enough!”

The Montessori system – what it is, pros and cons, how it can be improved
In raising children, teachers are increasingly moving away from “universal” approaches with an emphasis on mass coverage, giving preference to directions focused on the personality of the child. The group of the latter includes the well-known Montessori system. This is a unique technique of its kind, developed and first applied over a hundred years ago. It is still practiced by many kindergartens and even some schools. Direction techniques are acceptable for use at home. If you follow the rules, you can count on a number of persistent positive effects, but first you need to familiarize yourself with the specifics of the program and evaluate its disadvantages.
What is the “Montessori system” and a little about the author
The author of the direction is the Italian doctor and teacher Maria Montessori. One became one of the first women in Italy to receive a higher medical education. While practicing as a medical assistant in a psychiatric hospital, she faced the loneliness of mentally retarded children who were ignored by everyone. Minimal attention from Maria, who brought the kids simple items for games, was enough to increase their intelligence.
Based on her observations, the young doctor developed her own system of working with young patients, aimed at their education. The results exceeded all expectations – mentally retarded children were able to pass exams and even outperformed their “normal” peers in reading, writing and counting. Such unexpected results pointed to the fact that the standard education program in the country is at a low level. Over time, the Montessori development system was transformed by its author into a teaching method for ordinary children.
Maria Montessori
The principle of direction was described by Maria in simple words: “Help me do it myself.” In her work, she was based on the fact that all children are capable of learning and they have a desire to develop and acquire knowledge. Adults should only create for the little ones such an environment in which the innate qualities of a person will receive the necessary stimulus. This is achieved by providing special conditions in which the children will be able to decide for themselves what, how and how much to do. The role of the teacher is to provide assistance to the student if necessary.
Sensitive periods and their characteristics
The Montessori system is a complete and thoughtful approach to working with children. Particular attention is paid to the fact that each child, as they grow up, goes through certain stages – sensitive periods. These are the periods of time in which children easily and naturally learn certain things and accept specific knowledge.
Sensitive skills according to the Montessori system:
from 0 to 3 years – perception of order – this is the period that is considered optimal for accustoming a child to maintaining cleanliness. The work is not limited to cleaning up toys after oneself, it includes the elimination of any manifestations of the baby’s activity. He can wipe up drinks spilled on the table, sweep sand from shoes, take part in general cleaning and even wash dishes;
from 1 to 4 years – the development of movements and actions – the optimal time for children’s activity in various forms. Being engaged in playgrounds, riding slides, climbing stairs, kids improve their coordination, strengthen muscles, providing them with a uniform load;
from 0 to 5.5 years – sensory development – at this time, children actively learn about the world around them, absorbing its smells, distinguishing sounds, experiencing tactile sensations. This contributes to the formation of perception, the child’s ideas about colors, sizes, shapes, the ratio of objects. The more experience the baby gets, the more knowledge he will have;
from 1.5 to 5.5 years – the perception of small objects – the period optimal for working on fine motor skills of children. For this, even the most ordinary items that are always at hand are ideal: buttons, shoelaces, cereals, legumes, pebbles, shells, chestnuts, acorns;
0 to 6 years – speech development – Maria Montessori argued that there is no reason to panic if children do not speak in a year, two or three. Speech can be formed up to six years. The main thing is that the child’s life should be full and active, full of beautiful cards, books, accessible items. An important role is played by the presence of an adult who acts as an example for the baby in everything;
2.5 to 6 years old – development of social skills – there is no point in reminding the child to say hello, say “thank you” or “please”, be polite. It is enough to show him the rules of behavior in society by your own example.
One of the basic concepts of Montessori is freedom of choice, which is interpreted as a creative principle that generates individuality.
Maria Montessori believed that trying to teach a child a skill at an age outside the sensitive period would cause serious problems. The kid will either experience difficulties, or will not show interest in information at all. In any case, this will lead to a low degree of skill development, poor consolidation of knowledge.
Creating a developing environment for the child
First of all, a Montessori kindergarten or school is a unique environment for children. It is not difficult to create them, the project can be implemented even at home. In this case, it is enough to let the child understand that he is a full participant in the everyday life of the family. He should know that he can help with cleaning, cooking, caring for plants or animals, repairs. You should not buy him a lot of children’s analogues of “adult” things. It is better to choose real products of the right size for ease of handling.
The Montessori classroom is equipped in accordance with the following principles:
one spacious room is divided into several thematic zones. They are devoted to natural science, mathematics, practical life, language, sensorics;
materials, objects, toys are laid out so that any pupil, if desired, can take them on their own, and then put them away;
all games, objects, materials, products for learning and development are laid out in one copy. There are few participants in Montessori groups, but several people may need the same thing. The lack of additional copies will force the children to agree on the order of use of the item. It also allows the guys to work independently, and not in parallel with someone else, comparing the results;
each child should have their own personal space in the form of a rug or a table where they can do their own thing. Violating the boundaries of this zone without the permission of the baby is prohibited;
a set of subjects should not be presented with complex teaching materials. Preference is given to natural objects or products from natural raw materials. According to Maria Montessori, it is better for children to contact with objects that have a natural texture and understandable properties.
In Montessori classrooms, the presence of children of different ages is practiced. This allows children to build relationships within the group. Toddlers will primarily turn to older children for help, and not to the teacher. “Seniors” will be able to realize their importance and the value of caring for their loved ones.
Specificity of Montessori development
The main feature of the approach is that Montessori teaching children allows kids to live in the real world and not play in it. They use ordinary objects in everyday life, and not their toy counterparts, from an early age they are faced with the need to perform “adult” tasks (cleaning, cooking, repairs, etc.). Children in such an environment quickly get used to the fact that they must be responsible for their own actions and correct their own mistakes.
Sensory
Montessori pays special attention to this moment. Working with special sensory materials stimulates brain activity, laying the foundation for the development of mathematical abilities. As a result of classes, children begin to think more accurately and logically, due to which there is a painless transition to mathematical terms. The work is based on providing the baby with access to the maximum number of different materials. By touching objects with different properties and characteristics, children develop vision, hearing, smell, taste, perception of shape, weight and texture. Additionally, muscle memory is stimulated.
Mathematics
The Montessori education system does not require targeted study of mathematical operations. Everything happens naturally due to the environment, which is specially saturated with mathematics. The zone of manuals and materials reserved for this area contains objects through which children learn the principles of addition, subtraction, division, multiplication, ordinal counting. In some cases, he turns to educators, in others he acts intuitively, which in the complex turns out to be enough.
Language
Every day, staying in a Montessori-style environment, children expand their vocabulary, learn letters, correct spelling and reading of words. They do not just work with cubes or flip through the alphabet, but draw symbols on semolina or other cereal, sculpt letters on their own, use different versions of the movable alphabet. Simultaneous stimulation of several areas of the brain when learning a language contributes to the development of writing, speech, pushes the growth of the level of intelligence.
Cosmic
This area of education is designed to form a child’s holistic perception of the world. A Montessori teacher, having secured special materials, explains complex things to children in the simplest words. Toddlers naturally get acquainted with natural processes, study geography, history, flora and fauna, even the human structure. Information is presented in such a way that students immediately begin to perceive themselves not as an outside observer, but as an integral part of the cosmos.
The Montessori method encourages free upbringing of the child and allows for early education of even the smallest crumbs up to the age of one.
The benefits of Montessori education for children
The main positive aspect that characterizes Montessori classes is the preparation of the child for real life. Unlike other groups where children are placed in artificial conditions, here everything happens “for real”. Montessori classes help kids develop skills that would otherwise develop much later. Such an early development of different skills in pupils leads to the fact that in the future the skills turn into useful habits. Studies have shown that such children are more responsible, independent, respectful towards others, organized, proactive and inquisitive.
Where is Montessori taught?
The Montessori system can be used in kindergartens and schools, and usually these are private institutions, not municipal institutions. The latter from time to time open separate profile groups, meeting the wishes of their parents. True, most often, even in such cases, not full-fledged conditions are created in accordance with the requirements of the program, but only some elements are introduced. This is due to the fact that in real kindergartens and Montessori schools, the assimilation of the material by the children is assessed at a qualitative level, and not with the help of grades.
Modern followers of Maria Montessori argue that it is permissible to connect children older than two years to the system. The learning space can be organized right at home. For a quality organization of the process, it is better to enlist methodological recommendations or listen to a basic professional course.
The role of the teacher in the learning process
Many mistakenly believe that the Montessori teacher is an unnecessary link in the educational process offered by the system, and its functions are limited to monitoring the safety of children. In fact, a lot depends on the educator, so any adult cannot act as him, special education is needed. Montessori teacher shows children how to use manuals and materials, explains the essence of the exercises. He sets an example with his actions throughout the day, reading, needlework, cooking, cleaning. If the teacher just sits, the kids will also stop working after a while.
An adult must learn to “read” the interests of children. If he notices that the baby has awakened interest in counting, he must unobtrusively create a mathematical environment around him, teach him to use the necessary materials. The responsibilities of the educator include directing the energy of children in the right direction, and not performing some actions for them. It is often difficult for an adult to restrain himself, seeing that a child cannot cope with something. It is easier for him to finish the work on his own, and not to organize the process so that the baby himself completes everything.
Pluses and minuses of the system
When planning the introduction of a developmental program into a child’s life, it is necessary to evaluate its strengths and weaknesses. The direction is not suitable for all children, it may not coincide with the expectations of parents. In particular, it is necessary to initially decide on plans for the future. When Montessori Kindergarten is followed by a school with strict discipline, problems can arise. If distance learning is planned, the likelihood of obtaining optimal results is high.
Advantages of the destination
The Montessori School is a peaceful place where children are interested in studying in a relaxing and calm atmosphere. There is no assessment system used here, each child can develop according to an individual plan, no requirements are made to him, he is not driven. Pupils are not trying to be brought under one standard, so they do not feel pressure and do not compete. Kids can do what they are interested in, but at the same time they develop comprehensively and even after moving to a regular school they do not fall into the category of lagging behind. The guys do not just learn, they learn real life in practice, acquiring skills that will be useful to them in the future.
Disadvantages of the direction
The main disadvantages of the Montessori system are difficulties with the subsequent transition to strict discipline, a low level of socialization. Children in groups are left on their own, after that they get to school, where they have to sit in one place for 45 minutes and do the same as the rest, becomes a source of stress. After such developmental preparation, the child is more comfortable learning remotely. He can already plan his schedule, understands the level of responsibility, shows interest in learning, so he will be great at studying according to an individual scheme.
Problems with socialization arise due to the individual orientation of activities, the lack of such a thing as traditional games in groups. Children in them know how to communicate and negotiate, but practically do not spend time together, literally do not know how to “be friends”. This moment can be smoothed out if the child is provided with an active social life outside the kindergarten.
Montessori classes are held according to an individually designed plan for each student in a specially created environment.
When is it better not to use the system?
The listed minuses of Montessori become aggravated in the case of closed children. If the baby is already constrained, then due to the lack of active communication, he can become even more closed. Such an educational form is not suitable for overly active preschoolers. They are not so interested in studying on their own, they require attention, become a source of constant noise, and distract other pupils. Do not use the system for parents who are not ready to support its introduction at home. If in the kindergarten the child will do everything on his own, and at home he will be strongly patronized, then the baby will develop an internal conflict, which threatens with unpredictable consequences.
Learn to learn! Montessori school for the independence of the child
There is an opinion that a comprehensive school prepares children for … the day before yesterday! Parents, family, based on current realities – to today. And who prepares children for tomorrow? And in a situation of such a changing world, how can one prepare for what will happen? These questions do not just have answers, but there is already a world-proven method of Maria Montessori. This technique is capable of raising a child who himself will be able to navigate the realities of the current moment and remain effective in a situation of a changeable world. How is this possible? We are talking about this with Elena DEMENTIEVA, head of the Wings Family Education Support Center.
Elena Viktorovna, how is it possible to prepare a child for tomorrow in a situation where information in textbooks becomes outdated by the time they go out of print?
The traditional school emphasizes subject skills. It is important to acquire certain knowledge in specific subjects, to acquire the necessary skills. From the point of view of the approach of the Maria Montessori method, which is especially relevant in the age of constantly updated information, universal skills are important for a person to stay afloat. For example: self-organization, initiative, critical thinking, adaptability and flexibility, evaluation and analysis of information, work with cause-and-effect relationships. And in order to be successful at the same time, you should pay attention to the development of subjective skills: the ability to build and implement your intentions, choose and make decisions, turn a problem into a task and look for ways to solve it, as well as show strong-willed efforts and bring your actions to a result.
We understand that the mission of a teacher is to teach a child to learn independently. This is exactly the skill that will be useful throughout life.
Maria Montessori is an Italian doctor and teacher, founder of a unique pedagogical system based on personal development. The system is based on the principle “Help me do it myself”. By following the natural interests of the child, creating a “prepared developmental environment” for him, you can achieve good results in learning, cultivate independence, and support the research interest of a growing person. Today, the Maria Montessori method is used in many public and private schools around the world. There is also the International Montessori Association.
But how to do it? How to teach self-study?
First of all, following the interest of the child and creating a favorable developmental environment. Yes, we teach to read and write, but not for “assessment”. We go the other way: we create conditions so that it would be interesting to read not for parents and teachers, but for oneself.
Montessori school has no lessons, calls, no textbooks in the usual sense of the word. Children are engaged from 9 am to 3 pm. They themselves choose a school subject, determine the duration of the lesson. Do you want to learn more about trees? Wonderful! We create an individual learning itinerary for the child. We follow his interest, and at the same time we master geography, cartography, mathematics, rhetoric … After all, one of the tasks, for example, is to find out how many trees are in a particular area, how can this be calculated? We find out. As a result, the child prepares his own research, the results of which he presents to other children.
Our “textbooks” are didactic materials that meet federal state standards. Through interaction with such materials, the child comes to his own discoveries! For example, the “Golden Bank” is a material in which 10 gold beads on one rod is one dozen. Ten rods with beads is a square in which there are 100 beads, and one hundred rods are assembled into a cube of 1000 beads. And when a child, who is dominated by figurative rather than abstract thinking, while solving problems, can touch these ten, several dozen, etc., this knowledge will remain with him for life. According to such a program, it is possible to study shares, fractions not in the fifth grade, but at preschool age. We work in the same way, for example, with a material that consists of several red circles. One whole, the rest divided into parts up to 1/10. The child takes the shares, stacks them on top of each other and clearly sees what is larger, for example, 1/2 or 1/5.
The teacher’s task with this approach is to become a guide to the fascinating world of knowledge and discoveries. At the same time, in addition to the topic that interests him, the child’s individual itinerary contains a mandatory minimum: how many hours a week should be devoted to the Russian language, mathematics, and the world around him. The child is free to choose the time and days of compulsory classes, independently prioritize.
Once a very significant story happened in our school. The teachers were preparing an outdoor lesson in the arboretum on the topic “birds”. They gathered with the children to listen, examine, draw birds. But once in the arboretum, they unexpectedly found a huge number of snails that interested the children. The teachers got their bearings on the spot and restructured their lesson so that the children could get to know the shellfish better. The guys began to worry that passers-by could trample the snails, built signs and warning signs. And upon returning to school for another month, they conducted their research and prepared reports on this topic.
How is the Maria Montessori method different?
• Students choose their own activities from the available options. • Move freely around the classroom. • Author’s didactic materials are used instead of textbooks. • “Learning through discovery”: students learn new concepts through working with the material, not from the teacher’s explanations. • Mixed-age groups: students can be in the same class, for example, from 6 to 9years or from 9 to 12.
The Montessori method is really exciting … But what about the evaluation of children?
Naturally, there are government standards that we meet. Children are tested annually. It is carried out by an attestation commission from a general education school, with which relevant agreements have been concluded. The knowledge of our children complies with the standards adopted in the Russian Federation, and we confirm this every year.
What age children attend your centre?
Our school has a multi-age environment. Children from the age of 6, as well as first-graders and second-graders, work in the same group and belong to the first stage of the school. The second stage unites children 9-12 years old, that is, the third and subsequent classes.
How does the Montessori system relate to the teacher-parent relationship?
In our school we accept not just a child, but a family. Interviews with both parents are required upon admission. It is very important that the values and views of the Montessori school are shared and applied in the family. Then the child develops easily, there are no contradictions in the transition from home to school.
We always ask parents: why did you choose a Montessori school? It is joyful to realize when at this stage our views really coincide.

Owners Nisha and Bhavesh Mehta are excited to bring the Creative World School experience to Smyrna, Vinings, GA.
Together, they have two wonderful children who were their initial inspiration for opening a school when the Mehtas encountered challenges finding the right care for their daughter when she was younger. They were seeking quality child care which not only focused on academic achievements, but also a school with a creative environment that encouraged discovery and opportunities to explore and learn.
Soon, Nisha and Bhavesh began exploring options and were introduced to the concept of Creative World School. “When we visited our first Creative World School, we were wowed when we walked into the Exploratorium®,” said Nisha, owner of Creative World School Vinings. “It amazed us and we were intrigued by the whole facility: the curriculum, the classrooms, the open door concept, and the learning opportunities which were amazing and inspiring.”
They found the perfect fit with Creative World School and are excited to introduce this hands-on learning environment to families in the Smyrna and Vinings community.
The mission of their school is to develop young children and instill in them compassion for others, to help them grow humble and kind, to have amazing experiences and meet new friends, and to prepare them for a rapidly changing world ahead of them.
“With the setup of our school, the curriculum, and partnerships with parents, we are committed to providing the best quality of education in Vinings and Smyrna, and aim to achieve the best in each child’s desire to explore their world”, stated Bhavesh. They would love to meet your family and have the opportunity to welcome you as a member of the Creative World School family!

AMERICA’S MOST ACCREDITED
We’re so proud!
Nationally only 10% of daycares are accredited – nearly 100% of our learning centers are. That’s a big difference,
and that means KinderCare kids are getting the very best. Here’s why.
SCHOOL-READY
What Learning Looks Like
Our talented early-childhood teachers set kids down the path toward becoming lifelong learners in a positive, safe, and nurturing environment.
Cooper Lake KinderCare Programs
Infant Programs (6 weeks–1 year)
Leaving your baby in someone else’s care is a big step. Everyone at our
centers—most importantly, our naturally gifted infant teachers—will work with
you to make sure the transition goes smoothly. When you step into our infant
classroom, you’ll see how much we want your infant to feel safe, loved, and
ready to explore their world.
Toddler Programs (1–2 Years)
Everything in our toddler classroom is designed for little explorers. That’s
because a lot is going on at this age. When your child is wandering all over the
place, that means they’re learning and discovering new things every day. We’ll
help them explore their interests (and find new ones!) as they play and learn.
Discovery Preschool Programs (2–3 Years)
This age is filled with so much wonder and curiosity. That’s why we offer a ton
of books and toys and bring artwork down to kids eye level. Children in
discovery preschool also begin to learn how we all work together in a
classroom. Simple math and science, pretend play, and group play help them
get used to a more structured school setting.
Preschool Programs (3–4 Years)
This age is all about expression, when kids really start to form their own ideas
about what they want to play and how they want to create. Every day in our
preschool classroom, your child will explore science experiments, create
artwork, and play pretend—all the skills needed for their big next step:
kindergarten!
Prekindergarten Programs (4–5 Years)
When you walk into one of our pre-K classrooms, you’ll see artwork and
writing displayed around the room. Labels are everywhere to help kids connect
letters with words. You’ll also see pictures on the walls that reflect the families
in our community. Your child will also deepen their knowledge in language,
math, science, Spanish, and social skills.
Before- and After-School Programs (5–12 Years)
You can count on us to provide reliable care for your school-ager while you’re
at work, with safe transportation from our center to your child’s school and
back! Whether your child wants to start a drama club, build a volcano, or
create a comic book, they will have a place to follow their dreams. Your child
will start and end the day with a whole lot of fun!
School Break Programs (preschool, prekindergarten, and school-age)
Winter break, spring break, summer break—when school’s out (but you still need to work), you
can count on KinderCare to provide a safe and supportive learning environment that’s focused
on fun. We welcome children ages 5–12 during school break times and make sure they have a
sensational, screen-free experience they won’t forget.
Learning Adventures – Enrichment Program
Phonics Adventures® (2 – 4 Years)
Learning how to read is a whole lot of fun at KinderCare! We help kids grow to love
books and words (and get ready for kindergarten) in our Phonics Adventures program.
From discovering the basics of vowels to practicing poetry, kids learn all about letters
and sounds in small-group lessons made just for their age group. (Bonus: Kids who
attend our phonics program are more prepared than their peers for school—and we
have the data to prove it.)
STEM Innovators (3-8 Years)
You’ve probably heard a lot about how important STEM education is for your child, but
what does that really mean? Our STEM Innovators program takes kids’ natural ability to
make sense of the world and applies it to robotics, chemistry, coding, geology, and
more. While your child experiments, they’ll discover how to use technology to do
amazing things!

Family Stories
Don’t take our word for it. Hear what our families have to say about our amazing center!
“
As a parent of a 1-1/2 year old I feel very comfortable leaving my child at the KinderCare Learning Center. My child’s teacher greets me and my child when entering the classroom and informs me of anything that I need to know when I pick up my child everyday. I feel that my child is safe and happy and well taken care of there. Ms. Lucy always gives me pictures of my child involved in fun activities and she keeps me informed of of my child’s growth and development.

“
My children attended the KinderCare off Cooper Lake Road in Smyrna, Georgia. They have always been very friendly and professional, but they really won me over when they went over and beyond to help my child through a tough time when his dad had to move for a job before the rest of the family could relocate. My child is three years old and he did not understand why his dad wasn’t around as much anymore. So he cried a lot and was very needy during that time. They would take extra time with him and helped him with that transition quite a bit and made some accommodations so he wouldn’t have to have any more huge changes while his dad was gone. We finally moved after the school year was over, but I really hated to leave KinderCare.
”
Kimberly H. – KinderCare Parent
“
My KinderCare family has had my back since my son was an infant. My son was born prematurely and had a major surgery when he was one year old. KinderCare welcomed my son with open arms as well as made sure he was safe and healthy while in their care. Having a sick child isn’t easy, but it was relaxing to know that I am leaving him in the hands of people who go above and beyond for my son. The turnover rate is so low that my son still keep in touch with his infant daycare teachers and his toddler daycare teachers. Now that he is in the Discovery preschool education program, we are enjoying all the new words he’s learning. Very often my son say things that I haven’t taught him yet, and I owe the teachings to KinderCare. The front office staff at the Cooper Lake KinderCare location are outstanding. His Discovery preschool education teachers are personable and wonderful. I highly recommend KinderCare, they are doing everything right.

“Yoli and Marco raised both my son and daughter from the time they were 12 weeks old. They love every child like their own. It is a daycare filled with love and warmth and we consider them family. We feel so lucky we found them!”

“Yoli’s In-Home Daycare provides a loving, supportive, safe environment that adapts to your child’s needs as they grow. While my daughter was an infant, I knew that she was being taken care of in a loving, safe manner while also receiving the attention and stimulation that she needed throughout the day. As a toddler to pre-schooler, I have watched her learn, make friends and get excited every morning when we are heading to daycare. This in-home daycare is the best of both worlds–intimate, one-on-one care while your child is very young and a structured environment that helps them navigate the world as preschoolers.”

“Yoli is absolutely wonderful and runs an amazing daycare with her husband Marco! Our daughter’s been going there since she was 4 months old and as first-time parents, it was very hard to be away from her but Yoli helped to put us at ease. As soon as I met her, I could see how much she loved her job and how she cares for the children like they are her own – she also sent me home with a list of 20+ people to call for recommendations and they all raved about the care their children received there. […] We are so grateful that we found Yoli’s in-home daycare and that she had an opening, I truly can’t recommend her highly enough!!”

“Our children attended Yoli’s Day Care for four years. Yoli, Marco, and her staff are absolutely wonderful. They are caring, thoughtful, and love all the children as their own. They provide incredibly nutritious meals every day that they make from scratch. In fact, I knew that every day our children would eat a wide range of fruit and vegetables. In fact, the reason that our daughter and son love beans, avocados, quinoa, and whole grains is due in large part to the extra care that Yoli and Marco took to feed them so well. Each day Yoli and Marco provide a routine that is full of age-appropriate activities, songs, walks, play, outdoor time, and quiet time. There was never a day that my kids weren’t delighted to see both Yoli and Marco. And I knew that they were well cared for each and everyday. During Covid, Yoli has taken the most care to ensure that the children are safe and that they are protected. During the last year, our children have been the safest because of Yoli and Marco’s absolute attention to hand washing, mask wearing, and the other safety protocols they have put in place. We absolutely love Marco and Yoli and they are a part of our family. We could not have found a better daycare for our children.”

Alexandria, Egypt – Tour Guide
Alexandria was founded by the great commander Alexander the Great in 332 BC. and from that moment became the capital of Hellenistic Egypt (332 – 30 BC). After the death of Macedon, the city passed to one of his commanders – Ptolemy I Soter, who also received all of Egypt and made it a hereditary kingdom. It was Ptolemy who attacked the funeral procession of the commander and took away his remains for burial in the Alexandrian tomb.
Alexandria had incredible pavements, parks, theaters, hippodromes, gardens, zoos, and even running water and street lighting, which were not typical for that time. In the royal part of the city there were the legendary museyon (the largest center of science and art during the reign of the Ptolemies) and the Library of Alexandria. Grain, fabrics, glass, papyrus, aromatic oils, gold and precious stones, ivory were sold in the city markets, and the slave trade was developed.
On the island of Pharos, which divided the coastal zone into two noisy harbors, stood the monumental Lighthouse of Alexandria, one of the Seven Wonders of the World. Its height was about 150 meters and it was one of the tallest structures in the world. The lighthouse of Alexandria became the only wonder of the world with a practical function – it was a guide for sailors and an observation post for the Alexandrians.
In the 2nd century BC. The city came under the rule of the Roman Empire. In the middle of the 1st century BC. Guy Julius Caesar arrived in Alexandria and, seeking to seize the treasures of the Ptolemies, executed all objectionable courtiers, thereby gaining the approval of Cleopatra, who also arrived in the city. As a result of the fighting between the armies of Caesar and Ptolemy XIII, a significant part of the buildings was destroyed, and a large fire destroyed the Egyptian fleet and practically wiped out the Library of Alexandria. After the death of Ptolemy XIII, during the retreat, Queen Cleopatra ascended the throne.
In the 1st century BC Octavian became the ruler of Egypt, putting an end to the rule of the Ptolemies, and Alexandria became a Roman province. At the same time, the first Jewish pogroms, mentioned in history, and various clashes between the people and the government, which lasted for more than one century, began to take place in the city. Christianity came to Egypt in the middle of the 1st century.
In the summer of 365, as a result of a powerful earthquake, the lighthouse of Alexandria was partially destroyed, the palaces of the Ptolemies, the temple of Poseidon and the island of Antirhodos were flooded.
At the end of the 4th century (until the 7th century) Egypt was ceded to the Byzantine Empire. This period is characterized by persecution of Jews by Christians.
In the middle of the 7th century, after a siege that lasted more than a year, Alexandria was captured by the Arabs. And for five hundred years the city passed from one Islamic dynasty to another. In the 12th century, the harbor and canals became shallow, filled with silt, which caused the port to fall into disrepair, causing a blow to the economy.
The Ottoman period began in the 16th century and continued until the 20th. During this time, the city was owned by the French, British, Turks and Egyptians. He was tormented by riots, uprisings, hostilities and riots, which led to the partial destruction of Alexandria. However, at the end of the 19th century, the city was an important naval base and a trading and financial center.
At the beginning of the last century, Egypt gained independence, Jews, Greeks, Italians, French, British and Armenians began to leave Alexandria in search of a better life.
In the 21st century, the city has turned into a unique resort, where beach holidays and historical sightseeing are harmoniously combined.
Alexandria, Egypt – all about the city with photo
General information
A significant part of ancient Alexandria now lies at the bottom of the harbor. Underwater excavations have revealed many archaeological finds in the Eastern Harbor. Unfortunately, the Pharos lighthouse collapsed during the strongest tsunami in 365 AD. e.
Despite the earthquakes, Alexandria continued to develop. The port was Egypt’s main trading gateway until the beginning of air travel in the early 20th century. Trade contacts with the outside world made Alexandria the most cosmopolitan city in Egypt. Numerous Central European and British expatriates stayed here in the late 19th and early 20th centuries; their way of life was captured by Lawrence Durrell in his tetralogy The Alexandria Quartet. The putsch of 1952 put an end to this “little Europe”, but the city retained some of the colonial atmosphere.
The city is located in the middle of a wide bay lined with colonial buildings that reveal their beauty at sunset. Myriads of fishing boats float on the water and deliver their catch to the restaurants on the Corniche (Corniche) . The western end of the bay rests on the cape, where the Faros lighthouse once stood.
Today, this place is the location of Fort Keitbey (Qaytbay; daily 9.00-16.00, in the summer until 18.00) XV century, from where you can enjoy a beautiful view of the city, the East Harbor and the neighboring small fishing harbor. To the west is the palace of Ras al-Tin (Ras al-Tin) built for Muhammad Ali in 1834.
This is where King Farouk abdicated in 1952 before going into exile in Italy.
The way back along the embankment to the city center will be a pleasant walk. Along the way, the Abu al-Abbas al-Mursi mosque (Abu al-Abbas al-Mursi; women are allowed to visit only the back of the mosque), rebuilt in 1943, is worth a look.
Here is the tomb of Sheikh Abu al-Abbas 13th century. The mosque features exquisite Moorish stone carvings, elegant domes and a minaret.
Small square Zaghlul (Maidan Zaghlul) on the waterfront marks the city center and is very crowded during rush hour. The Cecil Hotel on its west side was the meeting place for the writers’ elite during colonial times. A short walk away, off Safiya Zaghlul Street is the Greco-Roman Museum (9am-5pm, closed Fri 11.30am-1.30pm, currently closed for extensive renovations) with a collection of local Greek, Roman and Ptolemaic artifacts. At the National Museum of Alexandria (9.00-16.00) on al-Hurriya street presents the history of Alexandria with the help of objects found in the city and partly taken from other museums. The exhibits, well organized in chronological order, can be seen on three floors. Of particular interest are the sphinx and other sculptures discovered during underwater excavations.
Near the railway station there are excavations in Kom al-Dikka (Kot al-Dikkah; daily 9. 00-17.00) , where the Polish mission discovered a Roman residential quarter, baths and a small theater of the 2nd century BC. with a beautiful mosaic floor. It also displays some of the statues raised to the surface in East Harbor.
A walk or a short taxi ride to the southwest will take you to the impressive catacombs of Kom as-Shuqafah (Cat as-Shuqafah; daily 0900-1700) . Tombs dating from the 2nd c. n. e., decorated with a typical Alexandrian combination of ancient and Egyptian motifs.
A few minutes’ walk to the northeast is Pompey’s column (Al-Amud as-Sawari) . Made of red granite, the 30-meter column was erected in honor of the emperor Diocletian, and not the Roman general, whose name it is named after. This is almost all that remains of Rakotis, the spiritual center of ancient Alexandria.
The ancient Library of Alexandria, founded by Ptolemy I, was also located here. It was one of the largest at that time, numbering about 70 thousand works. It was damaged by several fires and completely destroyed during the Arab invasion in 640. At the beginning of the XXI century. the government decided to create a library worthy of its predecessor. With the help of UNESCO, the state-of-the-art Alexandrita Library (Sun-Thu 11am-7pm) was built on the coastal road east of Zaghlul Square..00, Fri, Sat 15.00-19.00; www.bibalex.org) .
The gray Aswan granite façade of the library is inscribed in every known written language. Its complex includes the Museum of Manuscripts, Culturama (an interactive show about the history of Egypt) , a planetarium and the Museum of Antiquities. The permanent exhibition “Impressions of Alexandria” illustrates the city’s long history through paintings, maps and drawings.
There is no beach in the center of Alexandria, but the resort of Muntazah (Muntazah) 8 km to the east offers a sandy beach, sea and hotels. Muntazah Palace, built in the 19th century, now houses a trendy hotel and casino, surrounded by beautiful gardens.
History
Alexandria was founded by Alexander the Great in 332-331. BC e. on the Mediterranean coast at the site of the small village of Rakoda, on a spit between the Mediterranean Sea and Lake Mareotis (Mariut). Thanks to trade, which was extremely favored by the unusually advantageous position of the city, Alexandria quickly grew and rose. During the time of the Ptolemies (305-30 BC), it became the capital of Egypt and the center of Hellenistic culture, the center of famous scientists and writers of an entire era (Alexandrian) and the liveliest trading center of the ancient world. There were also the Museion of Alexandria, one of the main centers of science and culture of antiquity (beginning of the 3rd century BC – 272-273 AD), and the Library of Alexandria (about 500 thousand scrolls, among which – manuscripts of Aeschylus, Sophocles, Euripides, etc.), created on the initiative of the philosopher and statesman Demetrius of Phaler (the library burned down during the time of Caesar). Strabo, Euclid, other scientists and philosophers drew inspiration for their work here. Cleopatra, the last queen of the Ptolemaic dynasty, bewitched Caesar here with her beauty, and then his successor Mark Antony.
As part of the Roman Empire (from 30 BC) and Byzantium (from the end of the 4th century AD), Alexandria continued to be a major cultural and economic center. In the 1st century n. e. Alexandria was the second largest (after Rome) city of the Roman Empire with a population of about 1 million people. Alexandria was one of the main centers of early Christianity, and then became the center of Christian theology and the seat of the patriarch. It is from here in the 1st century. n. e. the Christianization of Egypt began, but at the same time the persecution of Christians under the emperor Diocletian, who in 29On the 5th he ordered the destruction of the city. Since that time, the decline of Alexandria began, which accelerated with the rise of Constantinople.
Alexandria continued to be the first trading city of the Byzantine Empire, but the 14-month siege and capture by the Arabs under the leadership of Amru in December 641 dealt a decisive blow to its trade, leaving Alexandria only trade with India, which was conducted along the old route through the Red sea. After the founding of Cairo (969), the decline of Alexandria intensified, and with the opening of the sea route around the Cape of Good Hope, trade with India also departed from Alexandria.
During the Turkish conquest of Egypt in 1517, Alexandria was severely destroyed, and in 1777 there were no more than 6 thousand inhabitants. In 1798, Alexandria was taken by Napoleon Bonaparte. The revival of Alexandria dates back to the beginning of the 19th century. Under Muhammad Ali, a new shipyard was built in Alexandria, the Mahmudiye Canal (1820). In 1856 it was connected by rail to Cairo.
During the Anglo-Egyptian war in 1882 Orabi Pasha (Arabi Pasha) took possession of the city. On July 11, 1882, Alexandria was subjected to a barbaric bombardment from British ships, and on July 15, the landing took possession of the city. After the occupation of Egypt by Great Britain, Alexandria was turned into a colonial port, from where Egyptian cotton was exported. Foreign banks, companies and agencies were concentrated in the city.

Home – Odyssey Early Schools
Welcome to Odyssey
Providing an effective, challenging and engaging learning environment for each Odyssey child
Virtual Tour Enrollment Inquiry Health & Safety Practices
Our goal is to be the best educational daycare and preschool program in the country
Since 1995, Odyssey has offered incredible child-to-teacher ratios, certified teachers and a curriculum that prepares our children for elementary school, all in safe, clean, beautiful facilities.
Birmingham’s Best Preschool
Odyssey is the only daycare and preschool company to win the title of BIRMINGHAM’S BEST PRESCHOOL in multiple years from all three area publications that give such an award, including Alabama Baby & Child Magazine / Birmingham Magazine (joint Parents’ Pick award) and Birmingham Parent Magazine. You are invited to come tour our schools so that you can see why so many people recognize Odyssey as the best Preschool in town.
Curriculum and Kindergarten Preparedness
Since 1995, every Odyssey graduate who has been in our program for at least two years has been able to read and write upon entering Kindergarten. No other preschool program will prepare your child for long-term academic success better than Odyssey Early Schools.
Internet Video Monitoring
Odyssey is proud to offer secure Internet Video Monitoring to all of our families. This service allows our parents to check in on their child at any time during the school day.
Quality and Consistency of Staff and Management
Odyssey guarantees that every preschool classroom will have at least one teacher with a four-year college degree in a field related to teaching children and that our entire staff is certified in both Infant and Child CPR standards. We enjoy a teacher turnover rate less than half the national average and our management and ownership team has been together since 1999, guaranteeing a consistency of vision and outstanding service to our customers.
Incredible Facilities
Big, open classrooms with lots of natural light and abundant learning resources create a fun learning environment for your child. HUGE playgrounds feature water play areas, multiple climbing structures, cushy and clean synthetic grass, awnings to protect your child from the sun and covered play areas that allow our kids to go outside even on rainy days, all making for an incredible outdoor play experience.
So Much More …
We’ve designed this Home Page to capture your attention and provide a very brief glimpse at what makes Odyssey such a special place for our families and employees. We encourage you to take a more thorough tour of the entire site to learn why, for more than 20 years, Odyssey families have trusted us to provide a safe, healthy, engaging and positive learning environment for their children.

Museums in Houston are among the main gems of Texas. The city has a so-called museum district with eighteen cultural institutions. Thanks to them, Houston is considered a real work of architectural art.
NASA Museum
An ordinary American city thundered all over the world after the opening of the NASA center in 1961. This organization occupied the entire southeastern region, so Houston is often associated with astronautics. Especially for visitors, part of the workshops was equipped for excursions, and for the convenience of tourists, a road train was launched. The uniqueness of the NASA campus is that historical exhibits and the latest technologies in the development stages are intertwined here. On weekdays, it is allowed to observe the work of the workshop from behind a glass partition. nine0003 NASA Music
Super heavy duty robots are tested here. NASA specialists train astronauts for future flights. And also from here the management and control of space flights is carried out.
The NASA Science Center has become a compulsory schooling program for local children. Yes, and an adult is curious to look at the collection of spacesuits and moonstones or touch a part of a rocket that has been in space.
Visitors to the center have a unique opportunity to feel like a real astronaut. The new exposition “Life in Space” includes all the elements of life on the ship. An ordinary person can see how the astronauts slept, ate and took a shower. And also work out on interactive simulators and perform a number of operations. For example, try to dock ship sections. And, of course, experience the feeling of weightlessness. nine0003
Museum of Fine Arts
The Houston Museum of Fine Arts is one of the largest in the United States. This cultural institution is considered the oldest Texas museum complex, operating since the beginning of the 20th century.
The complex consists of two buildings connected by an underground passage (Audrey Jones Beck and Caroline Wyss Lowe). The institution itself is made in accordance with the neoclassical style. The museum also includes sculpture gardens, the School of Art, Glassell Primary School, the Bayou Bend Collection, and Rienzi. nine0003
The Houston Museum of Fine Arts has more than 60,000 pieces of art in its buildings. Among them there are paintings by world famous artists such as Edouard Manet, Claude Monet, Van Gogh, Rembrandt, Andy Warhol and other masters. In addition to paintings by the greatest painters, the museum building hosts photo exhibitions and collections of decorative and applied arts of ancient African and American peoples.
The Natural History Museum of Houston is one of the ten most popular buildings in the US. More than two million people visit it every year. This science museum was created nine years later than the Museum of Fine Arts, at 1909, it has 18 complexes.
The exhibition halls of the museum are filled with objects dedicated to such sciences as geology, archeology, paleontology. The most visited hall of paleontology has almost half a thousand archaeological finds. Within the walls of the museum, you can find exhibits of both cultural and historical value, for example, the remains of dinosaur skeletons or a copy of the tomb of Tutankhamen. Here is a rich collection of gemstone minerals, numbering more than 700 varieties. nine0003 Houston Museum of Natural History
The Museum of Natural History houses a three-story butterfly complex. A tropical forest grows inside the building with an artificially created waterfall fifteen meters high. More than one thousand species of butterflies live in such indescribable beauty.
Museum of Contemporary Art
Museum of Contemporary Art Houston is another Texas attraction. The institution was founded in the seventies of the twentieth century. During its existence, the cultural complex has undergone a thorough reconstruction twice, the last of them was completed in 1997 year. The main highlight of the Museum of Modern Art is that it does not have a permanent collection.
The museum complex in its halls presents visitors with the world’s best works of art. The stainless steel building was designed by renowned architect Gunnars Birkerts. The complex gained worldwide fame in the 1980s thanks to the Foto Fest exhibition.
Air Terminal
The Air Terminal Museum was created a little over a decade ago. Quite a spacious building is made in a modern art deco style. A feature of the layout of the museum is that some of the exhibits are in the open air.
Air Terminal Museum
The Air Terminal houses exhibits dedicated to American aviation. In addition, in the halls of the museum complex you can learn the history of the creation of HAHS aircraft and Sikorsky helicopters, which were integral attributes of the Civil War. In one of the halls of the museum there are artifacts that keep memories of the formation of American aviation. These are photographs, and books, and technical passports of equipment, and other copies. nine0003
Today, the 1940 Museum attracts thousands of visitors from all over the world who want to learn more about the development of aviation throughout America.

What are the best preschool interview questions to ask?
When choosing a preschool, you want to take into account more than the basics like location and hours. Preschool is the stepping stone to your child’s educational career. After you’ve narrowed down your options using Mom Trusted’s search tool, schedule a tour of the potential preschools. You want to keep an eye out for atmosphere and structure, but also go with your gut. How do you feel when you’re there? In addition to the questions listed above, here are a few important questions to ask the preschool director when you’re trying to make the big decision:
Is it a half or full day preschool? If it is a half-day program, will that interfere with your job? Some preschools offer a built in care option so even half-day preschool programs work for fulltime working parents. Ask for the details and consider your options. Do you absolutely need a full day preschool program or can you take your child to childcare on your lunch break? Can you hire a nanny to watch he or she the second half of the day?
Can you give me some examples of the kinds of activities you do with the kids? Do the providers have a long list of engaging and educational crafts, songs and games that they offer? If so, this is probably a great preschool pick! What curriculum are you using for letters and numbers? What is your teaching philosophy? These kinds of questions will give you a good idea if the preschool fits with your parenting style.
Is there a waiting list? Preschools are becoming more and more competitive these days. They fill up quickly. Start shopping early and, if the one you have your heart set on is already full, ask if there’s a waiting list you can put your name on.

What types of Child Care are available?
At Mom Trusted, we offer a wide variety of types of childcare to choose from. We’re here to help you find the best fit for your family. Here’s a little more info on the first step to finding the perfect daycare match for your child:
Child Care Center Childcare centers are usually larger chains geared toward children of all ages. There are many variations some of which include early education curriculum while others are strickly care centers. The term “child care” is also occasionally used to describe an overarching theme of the following terms.
Daycare Daycare is a place where parents can drop their children off to learn, have fun, and be supervised while they head to work or about other tasks. Daycares often offer care to a wide variety of ages and are interested in teaching children basic skills. Those that are focused on teaching, often stick to a one teaching philosophy.
Preschool Preschool programs’ main intention is education. With early education as a goal, preschools take on various early learning philosophies. Some start accepting children at age two and a half, but many parents wait to send their children to preschool until they’re three or four years old.
In-Home Family Daycare Taking advantage of in-home family daycare can often save money. Because these childcare services are run out of the care takers’ homes, they tend to cost less and be smaller in size, which means more one-on-one time for your little one.
A Nanny Nannies are a great option for parents looking for part or fulltime care at their own homes. Nannies come to watch your children on a regular basis and become part of your child’s daily routine.
A Babysitter Babysitters are great options for a night out or a few hours during the day. Babysitters don’t typically come as often nannies and they are also generally less expensive.
What are the best child care interview questions to ask?
When considering childcare and daycare centers, the options can be overwhelming. There are different locations, teaching philosophies, and costs to decide upon. After you’ve visited Mom Trusted to help you narrow down your top child care options, schedule tours to your favorites. When you go to check them out, here are the best childcare interview questions to ask:
What daycare certifications or child care licenses does your care center have? Many states require childcare providers to pass licensing tests involving background and care standards. In addition to official licensing, what else are they trained in? Make sure the center’s workers are CPA certified with basic first aid skills.
What is your teacher to child ratio? A general rule of thumb: the lower childcare ratio, the better. The more teachers per children, the safer the environment and the more engaged the learning. For little ones under two years old, a 1:4 teacher to child ratio is considered good. For older children, a 1:12 ratio is more normal, but lower is always better.
How does naptime work? What ages to kids still get naptime? How is it handled? Can you bring your own lovie (blanket or stuffed animal) to send along for your child’s nap?
What is your policy on sick children? Is the center so strict that every time they hear a sniffle, they send kids home? If so, how will this affect your job or other obligations? Are they too laidback about their illness policy and there are a bunch of sick kids running around, creating a germy environment? Make sure your child care center has solid but reasonable policies for sickness in the day care.
What are the ages of the other kids? Most childcare and daycare centers have pretty concrete age ranges. Make sure, not only that your child fits into the range, but that there are other children their age too. Interacting with kids of similar ages is an important step in learning social skills and daycare is a great place to do it!
What about meal and snack times? Do you need to pack a lunch or is lunch provided? What kinds of food and snacks are served? Do they have sample menus you can look at? Are food allergies taken into account? For infants, do they heat up breast milk or do you have to formula?
How long have the staff members been with the childcare center? A low turnover rate means the staff members love their jobs. Happy workers mean more engaged, creative activities and a more positive atmosphere over all. Be sure to pay attention to how the caregivers talk to the children. Do they have patience with them? Are they trying to understand them? Are they getting down on the children’s level to communicate with them?
What are the best babysitter or nanny interview questions to ask?
Asking the right questions is essential when hunting for a babysitter or nanny. After all, you will have to trust them with your child. Not only do you want to ensure that your little one is safe, but you want to make sure that they’re going to have a good time with their care provider. Mom Trusted put together a list of the most important and best babysitter or nanny interview questions to ask:
What’s your experience with children? Make sure your nanny or babysitter-to-be has plenty of experience with children. Maybe they haven’t babysat before, but have they worked as a camp counselor or a teacher’s aide? In addition to having experience, ask about the ages they have worked with before. Even if they spent three summers at a children’s camp, working with 10-year-olds is a lot different than caring for an infant.
Are you CPR certified and do you know basic first aid? It’s important to know if the candidate will be able to keep your child safe in an emergency or trying situation. You can also ask if they’ve ever found themselves in a situation at a previous position where they had to use some of those skills.
What do you like most about being a babysitter or nanny? It’s valuable to know why they’re interested in watching your child. Do they love kids? Do they have their own little brothers or sisters? If their answer is centered around their paycheck, they probably aren’t your best pick.
How will you handle transportation? Does the candidate have a car? Will they use public transportation? Or do they have to rely on Mom or Dad for rides? If they do have a car, do they feel comfortable driving your kids? What is their driving record? Do they know (and have them demonstrate for you) how to properly install a seatbelt and buckle a child into it?
Situational Questions Ask your potential nanny or babysitter a few situational questions. These will help get an idea of how she handles various discipline issues, safety concerns and timing issues. Here are a few examples:
What would you do if our child refused to go to bed?
What would you do if he or she were injured?
If we said we’d be home at 10:00 p.m. but still haven’t arrived by 10:15 p.m., what would you do?
Choosing Quality Child Care
Choosing quality childcare is tough, especially when Mom Trusted brings you so many great options to choose from, but we’re also here to help you weed through them all to find the perfect fit for your family. Here are a few tips to help you make your decision: Decide on the type of childcare you’d like.
What type of care is your family interested in? Do you want to consider a preschool or child care center with an educational philosophy? Are you more interested in a larger daycare center or are you considering in-home childcare? Are you simply looking for help a few days each week? Maybe a nanny would work out best for your family. Even less frequently than that? Go with a babysitter. Consider teaching philosophies.
If you’re after early education in a childcare center or daycare, take teaching philosophies into account. At Mom Trusted, we break down each center’s philosophy for you. Simply click on the “teaching philosophy” tab in the child care center’s profile and read up on their teaching style.
Connect your Mom Trusted account to your Facebook account. By connecting the two, we can tell you which preschools, babysitters, nannies and daycare centers your friends recommend. Tour your top choices.
The best way to get to know a daycare, preschool or childcare center is to go see it with your own eyes. That way you can get a good feel and ask the staff and teachers anything you’d like. Be sure to bring your child with too so that you can see how they react to the new places. But don’t be worried if they seem nervous. Often the idea of leaving Mom and Dad can be scary, but it’s still a good idea to let your little ones have a small say in the place they’ll spend their days.
What to ask your personal recommendations about their experiences with local preschool or child care centers
When selecting a preschool or childcare center, you want to dig up as much information as possible. This will help you make sure it’s a good fit for your child and a safe, educational, fun place to be. Mom Trusted makes finding friends-in-the-know easy. All you have to do is connect your Facebook account to your secure Mom Trusted login and let us provide daycare and childcare recommendations based on your own connections. After all, who do you trust more than your friends? Here are some questions to ask them that will help you get the answers you need to make your decision:
What do you think of the staff?
How do you feel about the types of activities the childcare facility provides?
What do you like best about the provider?
What would you change or do differently than this center?
How does the provider or staff handle stressful situations?
What does your child think about the program? Are the happy at the end of the day? Do they dread it every morning?

Simferopol. Monument of freedom [Izomaterial: electronic resource]: [postcard]. – Electronic data (2 files: 2.8 MB). – (St. Petersburg: Boris Yeltsin Presidential Library, 2014). – Access mode: Internet portal of the Boris Yeltsin Presidential Library. Screen title. Electronic reproduction of the postcard: Simferopol. Monument of freedom [Izomaterial]. Photot. Pr.-K. T-va “Artel of Phototypes” [between 1917 and 1941]. 1 postcard: phototype. No. 6. Glavlit No. A-77064. 5 kop. Tyr. 3000. Location: Children’s Postcard Museum, St. Petersburg. nine0271 Copying by users is not allowed. Unpreserved monument in the city garden. Erected on the pedestal of the monument to Catherine II, which was opened in 1890 (sculptor N.A. Laveretsky). On different sides of the monument to Catherine, figures of G.A. Potemkin-Tavrichesky, V.M. Dolgorukova, A.V. Suvorova, Ya.I. Bulgakov. Demolished in 1920, on its pedestal in 1921 a monument “The Liberation of Crimea as a stage in the struggle for the triumph of the world proletariat” (“Monument of Freedom”) was opened. The monument represented a proletarian breaking chains on the globe with a hammer. The busts of Catherine’s associates were replaced with busts of Lenin, Marx and Engels. At 1940, the monument was dismantled. In its place, according to the project of the sculptor M. Manizer, a new pedestal and a monument to Lenin appeared. During the occupation of the city, the Nazis destroyed the statue of Lenin, in 1944 a small sculpture of Vladimir Ilyich was installed on an empty pedestal. But since it did not fit well with the pedestal, and a new monument to Lenin-Stalin soon appeared in the city garden, the figure was removed, the pedestal was demolished. A fountain was built on the site of the former monuments. – Materials of the Internet project “Simferopol yesterday and today” were used. Article “City garden and monuments in the Soviet era”.
