Parents Reviews About Us

My 3 year old daughter has been attending this day care for over a year now.  She was 2 since she started and she absolutely loves it. All of the staff are awesome and friendly.

My 2 year old just started going to school here. As any nervous mom I was worried about leaving her and was worried about her crying the entire time. I was told I could watch her through a peek a boo window.

My son loved this place and his teacher Ms. judy. he was so excited to go every day and was disappointed when it was time to leave and move to public school. the teachers very warm and pleasant, the facility is clean and well maintained.

First day of school was a success. Teachers are really nice and patient, they don’t seem stressed out. I hope the rest of the school year goes well. My son feels happier here.

    Childcare | Seattle Housing Authority

How can I get help paying for childcare?

There are three primary programs that provide assistance with paying for childcare in Seattle.

For families with low income who are working, looking for work, or going to school:

Washington State Working Connections Child Care (a program of DSHS) provides financial assistance with childcare costs.

    • Many licensed childcare facilities accept this subsidy, and it can also be used to pay for care provided by a family member, friend or neighbor who meets program requirements. (Note:  the payment amount is around $2 per hour for family, friend or neighbor care)

    • You will need to provide the names, dates of birth and Social Security numbers for each household member

    • If possible, it is helpful to know your DSHS client identification number and the name and license number of the childcare provider you have chosen

Apply online at washingtonconnection. org, by phone at 1.877.501.2233 or in person at your local DSHS Community Services Office.

For families with low and moderate income who are working:

City of Seattle Childcare Assistance Program helps pay for childcare.

    • Typically this program serves families with incomes that are higher than the Working Connections Child Care program limits

    • If you qualify, you will choose from a list of approximately 100 approved providers

    Learn more online at seattle.gov/education/childcare-and-preschool/child-care-assistance-program.

    Apply by phone at 206.386.1050

    For homeless families:

Childcare Resources assists with short term childcare subsidies.

    Apply by phone at 206.329.5842

    Frequently Asked Questions

How do I find or choose a childcare provider?

Tip: Call Childcare Resources at 1. 800.446.1114 for a free list of childcare providers based on your needs, including information about how to choose a quality program.

    • Childcare Resources is open Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m.-5:00 p.m.

    • Plan for a fifteen minute call

    • Consider calling from a landline if you have limited cell phone minutes

    • Interpreters are available if needed

What else can I do if I’ve already tried the ideas above and still have not found childcare that works for me?

    • Ask childcare providers if they offer sliding scale pricing or scholarships

    • Ask the family advocate at your child’s school if they know of any school or community based options for students

    • Reach out to other parents or neighborhood groups nearby for recommendations

    • Community agencies or religious organizations that you currently receive services from may be able to help find solutions

    • Capable family and friends may be willing to provide childcare

    Ms. Nadia

    Play-Based Learning

Experience is key when you are working with kids. I have been caring for children for over twelve years, and it has truly been a gift to be able to do this work while raising my own three kids. In 2016, I got my childcare certificate and began volunteering in local daycare centers. From there, I worked in a family care program and as a caregiver for children with special needs. Teaching children to read and learn and seeing all the wonderful achievements that happen as the days go by is so rewarding!

Let’s find a really good daycare for you

Get your own recommendations based on your preferences, daily routine, and what matters most to you.

Your family is unique to you, but some of your questions might not be. 😉 Here’s what most parents want to know when starting out.

    What is NeighborSchools?

Hey there, nice to meet you 👋 We’re a new-ish startup that helps new-ish parents find daycare.

We know how hard finding good child care can be – especially for first-time parents. But really good care is what gives you the peace of mind to go back to work and feel confident that your child is getting the stimulation, socialization, and support they need to learn and grow.

So we created NeighborSchools to make this piece of parenthood a whole lot easier. We say “easier” because, let’s be honest, it’s still a big thing to figure out, but working together we can help you find some good options, understand the whole process, and choose a program you’ll feel really good about.

    How’s it work?

Most first-time parents don’t know exactly what they’re looking for, so we created a simple survey that will ask you questions about your lifestyle, your daily routines, and your preferences for child care. We’ll then share 3 personalized recommendations that we think might be a good fit. We’ll also give you a timeline that maps out when we would suggest you start touring programs, choose a daycare, and pay a deposit to secure a spot. Your timeline is based on when you want to start care – so you set the pace, and you decide when you’ve found the right match.

    Is there a cost?

Nope. Our daycare recommendation service is free for parents. The other half of our business is helping these small-scale daycares with software and services that handle all their administrative tasks, like online contracting, payment processing, and licensing requirements. Before NeighborSchools, services like these were only designed for large corporate child care centers, and part of our mission is to level the playing field for small, independent child care programs. That’s why we picked the name NeighborSchools – we’re all about making child care more personal, more human, and more equitable for the incredible individuals who do this work and care for our children.

How do I know if I’m ready to take the survey?

Generally, if you’re here, you’re ready. The survey lets us give you 3 recommendations to consider, but it’ll also help you better understand what factors to consider, and what questions to be asking right now. It’s simple things like where you live, your child’s date of birth, when you want to start care, and if you have any preferences around program philosophy or language of instruction. If you’re planning 6+ months ahead, it’s a great way to get started, and if you’re hoping to start daycare in the next 2-4 months, it’s definitely time to get started. Click here to start the survey.

How do I know if a daycare has openings?

Each program has a limited number of spots for each age range, so we need to know your schedule and child’s age before we can share availability. The survey covers these basics, as well as factors like drop-off and pick-up times to make sure that recommended programs fit your daily routine. Once we know your child’s age and schedule we can share rates and costs as well.

More questions? Text or email – we’re here to help.

We’re online Monday – Friday from 8am to 6pm Eastern.

    Contact Us

Taking the first step is easy

Take the survey and get 3 daycare recommendations that fit your preferences. Takes 5 minutes and it’s 100% free for parents.

    Seattle-North America – Gelio

    Seattle-North America [May. 23, 2018| 01:39pm ]

    Gelio (Slava Stepanov)

“Gateway to Alaska”, the second Silicon Valley, the city of coffee and rain. Each of these metaphors is a small piece of the puzzle, a separate story about an ambitious American city in the state of Washington – the birthplace of Boeing, Microsoft and Starbucks.

Seattle is the largest city in the northwestern United States, 180 km from the Canadian border. A little over 700 thousand people live in the city itself, but the population of “Greater Seattle” (together with the suburbs) exceeds 3.4 million. Seattle is surrounded by expanses of water and mountain ranges from almost all sides, which is why it is almost always cloudy here and it often goes rain. This city is the birthplace of the grunge style, which in the early 1990s became popular around the world thanks to groups such as Nirvana and Pearl Jam.

    1. The history of Seattle began long before its foundation. In 1846, the governments of the United States and Great Britain entered into the Treaty of Oregon, with the help of which they approved the territories of the American and British possessions of Oregon land. As a result of the redistribution, the American side faced the problem of “empty spaces”. The government announced a program of free distribution of land, and a few years later the first groups of immigrants arrived here. In 1851, they founded a settlement that grew rapidly and already in 1855 Seattle received the status of a city.

    2. Despite its small population of 700,000, Seattle is an important US financial and technology center. It is from here that the technological giants Boeing, Starbucks and Microsoft originate. Even more companies have chosen this city for their representative offices and headquarters. Among them are Amazon, Valve, Nintendo and others.

    3. Modern Seattle is an open-air museum. Here and there, various buildings are scattered around the city, each of which looks like an architectural work of art. And it all started with the fact that at 19In 04, the Alaska Building, the first high-rise building in Seattle, grew up in downtown, which opened the marathon of building achievements of the Emerald City.

    4. At the end of the 19th century, there was a fire that destroyed the entire business center of Seattle. Part of the city was raised to a higher level, and the destroyed quarters were built anew, on top of old buildings.

    5. Space Needle.

In 1962, Seattle was preparing for the World’s Fair – an international event of technical and technological achievements of the world. Especially for this event, an observation tower was built on the territory of the Seattle Center exhibition complex, which has become one of the attractions of the US West Coast.

    6. The Space Needle is the main symbol of the city. The tower is 184 meters high and has an observation deck and a revolving restaurant at its top.

    7. Now the building is under reconstruction.

    8. Museum of Pop Culture.

The Pop Culture Museum is located next to the Space Needle. Every day, the Seattle Cultural Center hosts several themed exhibitions, and inside the building there is a Hall of Fame and a collection of cinematic objects, including: various exhibits from the films Star Trek, Star Wars, Terminator, Back to the Future 2 and more . Special attention should be paid to the themed halls with expositions of legendary Seattle rock artists Jimi Hendrix and Kurt Cobain.

    9. The Seattle Music Center project was commissioned by Paul Allen, co-founder of Microsoft Corporation. The object owes its unusual forms to the Canadian-American architect Frank Gehry, who is famous for his works in the style of deconstructivism. Initially, the building was positioned as a tribute to the work of Jimi Hendrix, but in 2016 it was renamed the Museum of Pop Culture and the focus of the building was shifted from an architectural monument to the performer towards the educational site of the city.

    10. Seattle Monorail.

Like the Space Needle, it was built for the 1962 World’s Fair. A 1 mile track that runs from Westlake Center Mall to Seattle Center Amusement Park.

    11. Today there are more than 200 high-rise buildings in Seattle.

    12. Pike Place Market.

One of the oldest markets in the United States, it dates back to the city’s architectural revolution and began with the initiative of city council member Thomas Revell. 17 August 19Pike Place Market opened its doors to shoppers in 07 and quickly became the main marketplace for local farmers.

Soon, the city administration, with the support of an Illinois businessman, built multi-story retail buildings, but by the middle of the century the market had fallen into disrepair and plans were made to demolish it. Seattle residents opposed the initiative of the local authorities and organized a city referendum, as a result of which Pike Place Market was recognized as a historical monument.

Currently, the market is a separate area of five blocks. More than 10 million people visit Pike Place Market every year, and the stalls of farmers and artisans are always full of fish, meat, fruits and handicrafts.

    13. The first Starbucks.

In 1971, several residents of the city founded a common business selling coffee beans, but after sixteen years of operation of the store, they were not able to turn it into a profit. At 19In 1987, Starbucks was acquired by Howard Schultz, a businessman who turned the company into the largest international coffee chain. The first Starbucks store was located on the territory of Pike Place Market and worked until 1976, after which the building was destroyed.

    14. Seattle’s Central Waterfront starts at Pioneer Square and runs down several streets to Olympic Park. At the beginning of the 20th century, the city pier was located here: later the port was moved to the south, and a park was opened in its place.

    15. The Seattle Great Wheel is the largest Ferris wheel on the West Coast.

    16. Smith Tower is the first skyscraper in Seattle.

The construction of a high-rise building commissioned by the American industrialist Layman Cornelius Smith was completed in 1914. Until 1962, the Smith Tower remained the tallest building in the city, until the Space Needle broke its record.

    17. Smith Tower is an example of early thirties American style combined with neoclassical architecture. The height of the building is 148 meters, 38 floors.

    18. There is an observation deck on the top floor of the building. Pioneer Square

In the southwestern part of the Central District, among the old streets of Seattle, is Pioneer Square. It was from here, from a small village of lumberjacks, that the history of this city began in 1851.

    22. Seattle is located on a strip of land between Pacific Bay and Lake Washington.

    23. The Columbia Center is the tallest building in Seattle. The height of the building is 285 meters, 76 floors.

    24. Rainier Tower.

40-story vase-shaped skyscraper designed by architect Minoru Yamasaki. American architect best known for designing the Twin Towers of the World Trade Center in New York City, which was destroyed on September 11, 2001.

    25. Seattle Public Library.

In 2007, this futuristic building was ranked #108 on the American Institute of Architecture’s 150 Most Famous Buildings list.

    27.

    28. The Amazon Spheres.

Amazon.com is the world’s largest online sales company by turnover. The headquarters is located in Seattle.

In 2018, Amazon built a futuristic park that is a biosphere of three huge balls. Each of the structures has a glazed steel frame, inside which are office spaces and a tropical garden of several hundred plants.

    29. Pine Street.

    30. Safeco Plaza.

    31. Downtown Seattle.

    32. Boeing Everett Factory.

The history of the corporation began in 1916, with the founding of The Pacific Aero Products Company (later renamed the Boeing Airplane Company) by William Boeing. Over the next 80 years, the company was engaged in the production of passenger and military aircraft, acquiring an image in the international arena of an aircraft manufacturer.

    33. The Boeing factory is the biggest building in the world!

The assembly plant has an area of more than 400,000 m2, about the size of 50 football fields. Boeing 767, 777 and 787 “Dreamliner” aircraft are assembled here.

    34. Boeing 777.

In 1995, the company introduced a new family of passenger aircraft called the Boeing 777, which brought the company worldwide recognition and fame. Aircraft of this family are capable of accommodating up to 550 passengers and perform intercontinental flights around the world.

It was on the Boeing 777 that the absolute distance record for passenger aircraft was set: 21,601 km.

    35. Since 2011, the plant has started serial production of the Boeing 787 Dreamliner. This is a family of fundamentally new, ultra-efficient civil aircraft. The Dreamliner is the company’s first passenger aircraft to make extensive use of composite materials. Since entering service in 2011, the 787 family has opened over 150 new routes around the world.

In the photo: the Boeing 767 family.

    36. Boeing 737.

The most massive passenger aircraft in the history of the passenger aircraft industry. In 2018, the 10,000th aircraft was delivered, more than 4,500 orders are awaiting execution. The aircraft has been produced since 1967. The Boeing 737 is so widely operated that there are an average of 1,200 aircraft in the air at any given time.

    37. Boeing Field.

Prior to the opening of Seattle-Tacoma International Airport in the 1940s, this was Seattle’s main passenger airport. Now the complex has a training ground for flight and ground tests of Boeing-737 aircraft and a regional hub for servicing cargo and passenger flights.

    38. The Museum of Flight is the largest private aerospace museum in the world.

The pavilions of the facility are located on the territory of the first Boeing plant and are open to visitors from 1965 years old. The museum has a collection of 150 aircraft, which is represented by both ordinary passenger airliners and unique aircraft models.

    Pictured: Lockheed Super Constellation, 1950s.

    39. The real pride of the museum is board number 1, the presidential Boeing 707-120, which flew Nixon, Kennedy, Johnson, Eisenhower and even Khrushchev; the very first Boeing 747 “Jumbo Jet”, as well as the supersonic passenger “Concorde” and the unmanned reconnaissance aircraft Lockheed M-21 – a modification of the A-12, the predecessor of the fastest aircraft of the 20th century.

    40. The “Royal” train station is located south of the city centre, between South King and South Jackson streets. In 1906, the station became an intermediate point for the transcontinental railroad, which linked the Central and Western States of the country with the California coast of the Pacific Ocean.

    41. Safeco Field is a baseball stadium and home to the Seattle Mariners of Major League Baseball. The stadium can accommodate more than 47 thousand people.

    42. Century Link Field is a multifunctional stadium designed for various sporting events, exhibitions and concerts.

    43. King County Courthouse. There is a footbridge between the courthouse and the county jail.

    44. The Port of Seattle is the fourth largest seaport in North America.

    45. Container terminal.

    46. The ports of Seattle serve hundreds of thousands of containers every day, which are delivered to the US by cargo ships from Asia.

    47. Todd Pacific Shipyards Co is one of the largest shipbuilding corporations in the United States.

    48.

    49. Highway 5 (Interstate 5). The highway passes through the largest cities on the West Coast, including Portland, Los Angeles, San Diego and Seattle.

    50. Freeway Park.

    51. Seattle Floating Bridge (Evergreen Point Floating Bridge) – the longest pontoon bridge in the world – 2.3 km.

    52. In 1963, a highway bridge was built on Lake Washington. After 50 years, it fell into disrepair, and in 2011 the city authorities approved the project of a pontoon bridge, which was supposed to replace the old structure. The construction of the facility was completed in 2013.

    53. There are 23 pontoons at the base of the bridge.

    55. The bridge has six car lanes, separate paths for cyclists and pedestrians, as well as an additional site for the construction of a future narrow-gauge railway line.

    56. Gas Works Park.

Until 1956, a coal-to-synthesis gas factory operated on the shores of Lake Union. After its closure, the territory of the enterprise was overgrown with garbage and became unusable. Twenty years later, the city’s municipality raised investments and bought out the Seattle Gas Light company.

The territory was cleared of waste and turned into an unusual park. The authorities decided to leave the factory building, but it is closed to the public.

    57. Lake Union is Seattle’s main houseboat playground.

    58. University of Washington.

Founded in 1861, the institution is considered one of the oldest on the West Coast of the United States.

    Alabama Scholarship Fund 2022

If you are looking for finance to fund your education, there is good news for you. The State of Alabama is pleased to announce its Alabama Scholarship Fund, which is open to residents of the state.

The Alabama Opportunity Scholarship Fund (AOSF) believes that every child is unique and every child learns differently. Most students will thrive in their assigned fields.

However, there are children who will need a different learning environment to reach their full potential.

It’s about giving children the tools to help them succeed. Sometimes that means a different public school in a different area, and sometimes it means attending a private school.

AOSF has a vision that one day every child in Alabama will have an equal opportunity to receive a quality education. This can only happen if educators and the local community are empowered to create diverse learning experiences. And all parents can choose the learning option for their children that best suits their needs.

    why Alabama Scholarship Fund?

AOSF operates and awards scholarships under the Alabama Responsibility Act.

    Level/Field of Study

Alabama Opportunity Scholarships are for children, not schools. Therefore, if the school originally chosen by the parents or guardians is not suitable for their children, the scholarship can be transferred to any other participating school.

    Host Nationality:

Slot Machine Alabama Scholarship Fund filmed in Alabama, USA.

There are other USA Scholarships available for international students in 2021. You can use these scholarship opportunities to solve most of your academic problems.

Check out other scholarships you can apply for in 2022 to study in Europe , Africa , Asia , America , etc.

    Eligible Nationalities:

The Alabama Scholarship Fund is open to US citizens residing in the state of Alabama.

Read this if you want to study outside your country: Simple and detailed answers about applying for and receiving a scholarship.

In addition to the Alabama Scholarship Fund, there are other scholarships available for international students to study abroad.

You can check our scholarships by country to access all available scholarships.

    Scholarship Benefits:

AOSF Scholarships are awarded on an academic year basis.

The Alabama Scholarship Fund covers tuition and certain required fees at the time a student receives a scholarship or enrolls in a participating school, whichever is later.

If you choose to enroll your child before you receive a scholarship and the school has completed the SCF, you will be responsible for any financial obligations that may arise and may not qualify for future funding.

The Alabama Scholarship Fund strongly encourages families not to enroll a student in a non-public school without an official scholarship. You can only do this if you have a financial plan to pay out of pocket or otherwise pay any financial obligations at the school.

Eligibility for the Alabama Scholarship Fund

    • Students entering kindergarten through twelfth grade may be considered for scholarships on the condition. However, by September 1, a growing kindergarten student must be five years old. In addition, no student must be over 18 years of age at the time of application.
    • In order to qualify for the scholarship, all applicants must be “eligible for income”. Income eligibility requires the applicant’s gross annual income not to exceed a certain threshold based on household size.

The Alabama Accountability Law establishes priorities for certain categories of students. These priorities include:

    • Students are placed in a “bad” public school as designated annually by the Alabama Department of Education.
    • The Scholarship cannot be awarded to a new student who has not passed the exam until July 31, 2021.
    • Failed or unbeatable public school assignments must be verified using the required public school designation confirmation form contained in this application.
    • All students applying are subject to unsatisfactory school awards priorities. In addition, the
    • law requires that no more than a quarter of new scholarships be awarded each year to students who have been continuously enrolled in private education in the previous academic year .
    • All new students must submit a report card for the entire 2021 school year to the Alabama Scholarship Fund. This is to determine if a student should be considered “private” under the law.

Please note that application procedures, including deadlines and certain priority issues, are subject to Alabama accountability laws and Alabama Department of Revenue guidelines.

The procedures and policies that operate under these powers are subject to change.

    How to Apply

The Alabama Responsibility Law defines a “ family” as “a group of two or more
persons associated with a birth, marriage, or adoption, including a foster family, who live together.

Accordingly, a parent or guardian may apply for a student to whom the applicant is related by birth, marriage, adoption, or who is the legal guardian of a student applicant in foster care, provided that the applicant is an adult and the student lives together.

Here’s what you need to do if you apply for the Alabama Scholarship Fund.

    • When applying, each family must verify the family’s annual income for the previous calendar year.
    • When reviewing your application, AOSF will check all people who live in your household and all income from people who live in that household.
    • Sources of income include, but are not limited to: Alabama tax returns for the previous calendar year (Alabama Form 40), W2, Social Security income/disability for each household member (including children), child support, any other non-taxable / taxable income,
    • Applicants must also provide proof of their household composition, as well as proof of assignment at an Alabama public school.
    • First-time applicants must also provide either a birth certificate (for kindergarten students) or an annual report card for the previous school year.
    • Completing this process is the responsibility of the parent/guardian, not the school.
    • Applications are considered in the order in which applications are received. Application cannot be

    • Scholarship awards are subject to the standards contained in the Alabama Accountability Act and the availability of funds.

Alabama Scholarship Application Consent / Certification

The parent or guardian applying must certify that he or she has completed the
scholarship application completely and accurately. They must also show that the application reflects the true circumstances of the size and income of the applicant’s family, as well as any other claims related to eligibility.

Misrepresentation of application information or failure by an applicant’s parent or guardian to disclose information relating to scholarship eligibility may result in the
denial or withdrawal of the scholarship.

AOSF reserves the right to verify any information provided during the application process or required documentation.

Families receiving the Alabama Scholarship Fund will be subject to program and reporting requirements under the Alabama Responsibility Law.

These requirements include Alabama student scholarship status. Revenue Department .

In addition, students receiving a scholarship under the Alabama Responsibility Act may be required to take a standardized, regulatory-referenced test, the results of which must be provided by the fellow’s Partner School to the Alabama Scholarship Fund and the Alabama Department of Income.

Rejection of a scholarship or refusal of a scholarship

Once a scholarship has been awarded, a parent or guardian may withdraw from the scholarship. The scholarship may be rejected either before or after enrollment and attendance at a partner school, resulting in the applicant voluntarily withdrawing from the scholarship. program .

If you decide to withdraw from the scholarship program at any time during the academic year, please contact the Alabama Opportunity Scholarship Fund and the partner school, if applicable, as soon as possible.

And while this may not seem like an obvious application of the Internet of Things, education is on this list.

E-learning has become a common practice in the American school system.

Moreno Valley Unified School District / YouTube

The Internet is deeply ingrained in our schools and e-learning has become a common practice in the American school system. But the applications of IoT in education are numerous and the implications of this breakthrough are enormous.

The rise of mobile technology and the Internet of Things is enabling schools to improve the security of their campuses, track key resources, and increase access to information in the learning environment. Teachers can even use the technology to create “smart lesson plans” rather than the traditional stoic plans of yesteryear.

Below we have compiled a list of IoT use cases in education, including IoT use in higher education, the future of the Internet in education, real-time distance learning, and examples of companies using the IoT to enter the education space. .

Impact of the Internet of Things and Technology on Education

eMarketer estimates that 83. 2% of all teens aged 12-17 own a smartphone. In addition, 73.0% of parents stated that their children had a smartphone between the ages of 11 and 13, and 31.0% stated that their children had a smartphone between the ages of 6 and 10.

    Copyright © 2019 eMarketer Inc.

    .

With this initial digital foundation to build on, it’s easy to see how the Internet of Things is poised to radically transform education as we know it. Students who use these mobile IoT devices in the classroom can automate tasks they already do now, such as taking notes, checking schedules, and researching.

In the case of schools, the greatest benefits will come from improved energy efficiency and reduced operating costs. New Richmond Schools in Tipp City, Ohio saves about $128,000 annually by using a web-based system that controls all mechanical equipment inside buildings.

And the savings continue as schools invest in reusable resources such as computers, tablets and smartphones. A high school spends about $200,000 annually on paper, which is about 10% of most schools’ budgets, but reusable technology will eliminate those costs entirely.

As more schools adopt this technology, look forward to more “smart schools” throughout the US until they become the standard for American education.

    The Internet and higher education

The IoT can start disrupting education as early as kindergarten and continue to do so through grade 12, but perhaps the most profound impact is in higher education.

Mobile devices and laptops dominate classrooms and distract students from lessons.

    Thomas Lones / Getty Images

Students, especially in colleges, are increasingly moving from paper books to tablets and laptops. With all the information they need at their fingertips, students can now learn at their own pace and have an almost identical educational experience at home and in the classroom.

While this trend provides increased convenience for students, it also makes the learning process more efficient for teachers. The surge in connected technology means educators don’t have to manually grade paper tests or perform other routine tasks.

Instead, professors can focus on the actual individual learning that is most valuable to their students. Cloud-connected devices allow professors to collect data about their students and then determine which students need the most individual attention and care. These statistics help teachers improve student engagement as well as adjust lesson plans for future classes.

Outside the classroom, universities can use connected devices to monitor their students, staff, resources and equipment at reduced operating costs, saving everyone money. And these tracking capabilities should also lead to safer campuses. For example, students will be able to monitor connected buses and adjust their schedules accordingly, preventing them from spending unnecessary time in potentially hazardous areas.

    IoT applications in education

A prime example of a technology company that has invaded schools is SMART, which pioneered the interactive whiteboard in 1991. SMART boards have changed the way teachers and students interact in the classroom, removing learning material from the dusty blackboards that have dominated education for decades. .

But SMART is far from the only company that gets involved in

ClassDojo allows parents to see students’ schoolwork through photos and videos.

    Dojo Class

to the US school system. IPEVO has also produced a wireless interactive whiteboard that could be a potential alternative to the SMART whiteboard.

EdTech companies and startups are also developing services and applications for use in the classroom. Ideapaint has jumped head first into the Internet of Things with an app called Bounce that aims to provide more educational services on the web.

In addition, ClassDojo, an educational app available on the Apple Store and Google Play, allows parents to view students’ schoolwork through photos and videos. Class Dojo is used in 95% of all K-8 schools in the US and 180 countries, and messages can be automatically translated into 35 languages.

IoT in education during the coronavirus

In 2020, schools around the world closed or suspended in-person learning to mitigate the spread of the novel coronavirus. Caught in the middle of the year, teachers and students were in crisis mode and relied heavily on the Internet of Things to ease the transition to structured distance learning.

However, the pandemic has exposed many of the harsh realities of educational inequality. While video conferencing platforms such as

and other technologies such as virtual and augmented reality have become home tools for some students, others, especially low-income students, have struggled with basic needs such as a reliable Internet connection.

The NWEA estimates that as a result of the transition to distance learning, US students in grades 3-8 are expected to achieve only approximately 70% reading and 50% math success compared to what they normally learn in school. year.

Much remains to be done in the area of e-learning.

    How Much Do Editors Make?

    Blog
    >

Last updated on Jan 06, 2022

A desk piled high with manuscripts, brushing shoulders with authors at glitzy book launches, getting a first glance at the freshest fiction around — working as a book editor is a pretty dreamy prospect for lots of people. But how much do editors make? In this article, we’ll look at the range that editor salaries fall into, and what factors contribute to it.

    Average in-house editor salaries

A middleweight editor in a traditional publishing house will earn approximately $55,491 according to indeed.com — a figure that is based on the aggregation of 802 salaries (as of March 2021). Meanwhile, The Bureau of Labor Statistics puts the number for editor salary at $63,400 per year (roughly $30.48 per hour).

These median salaries are constitutive of the wage a person could earn if they’ve been working in the industry for a number of years. It’s worth remembering that starting salaries in many publishing houses (even the most prestigious ones) are notoriously low, as many will gladly accept a salary that barely exceeds the minimum wage to work in a desirable industry. Note also that many editorial professionals start with unpaid internships.

That being said, editor salaries are certainly nothing to scoff at, considering they come in around the average wage of a US worker.

Of course, real life doesn’t fit into neat boxes in the way that data does. Like the majority of industries, the salary publishing houses are actually willing to pay you is subject to negotiation — especially if you’re more experienced. The broader your skillset and the more advanced you are in the career, the greater the possibility of earning better salaries, particularly if you take on the extra responsibilities of a managerial role.

Big city editors get bigger bucks (in general)

How much book editors make varies from city to city, partly because of different costs of living, and also depending on how concentrated publishing houses are in certain cities. According to this Forbes article, the highest salaries can be found on the East Coast, with Massachusetts coming in at first place ($89,280) and New York a close second ($83,070).

The differences across states can be stark — with the lowest annual salaries mostly being found in the West and South: Montana ($41,030) and Louisiana ($42,340). This unsurprisingly reflects differences in costs of living and where centers of commerce are located.

Top publishers don’t necessarily pay top dollar

The Big 5, for those not up to speed with publishing parlance, means the industry heavyweights (in the US, at least) — Penguin Random House, Hachette Book Group, Harper Collins, Simon and Schuster, and Macmillan.

Many would-be editors are attracted to these big publishers because of their glittering backlists, company perks, and industry clout. However, these bells and whistles don’t necessarily mean they will be paying more. As of the publication of this article, mid-level editorial jobs at Hachette are paying $45,000, whereas graduate roles are around the $30,000 figure — the latter of which is an industry standard, whether you’re at a boutique firm or a publishing juggernaut like Hachette.

When it comes to managerial roles, Big 5 publishers often pay more because of the scale and scope of production, even if base book editor salaries are similar across the board. That said, even if indie publishers have less titles to release each year, they tend to work in smaller, more tight-knit teams that are a little more dynamic when it comes to work delegation — which is a work life that some editors may prefer.

    Freelancing: figuring out your finances

With the ability to set your own rates, pick projects that align with your interests, and employ a flexible schedule, working as a freelance editor is an increasingly attractive prospect for many professionals in the publishing industry.

However, you need to view your income differently if you go it alone. Unlike a salaried in-house employee, you’ll get paid per project, and certain factors will impact what you can charge (and thus earn) — namely your skillset, experience, and editorial niche. Let’s break this down.

A steady income is not a given

It can be hard to know what to anticipate earnings-wise. Former Big 5 (now freelance) editor Alyssa Matesic says that “your earnings are going to fluctuate month to month, especially if a client needs to postpone or cancel their collaboration.”

It takes patience and perseverance to build a freelance editing business. “I wish someone had told me how many clients you need to create a reliable flow of work,” editor Jasmin Kirkbride notes, “and that it could be a couple of years before you start being able to see where your income will be coming from six months in advance.”

On top of that, you’ll have to consider what rates to charge, which can be a bit baffling if you’re not used to the usual per-project standard rates. But there are a lot of resources and fellow editors out there to help you — beginning with some insights we’re sharing below.

Self-publishing clients still pay good money

On the bright side, freelance editorial rates, whether you’re working with a publisher or indie authors, are often in line with those earned by in-house editors. The only limiting factor is often the freelance editor’s ability to line up projects. If you can organize your projects well and ensure a steady stream of clients, there’s no reason why you can’t earn a “freelance editor salary” that’s comparable to an in-house salary.

The best way to get access to work is to get words out about your service on marketplaces dedicated to the publishing business. Reedsy is a freelance platform that connects publishing professionals with over 500,000 writers in search of editorial services. If you’re looking for a low commitment means to gradually build your business, Reedsy is for you.

Freelancers can still work for traditional presses

If you’re someone who’s worked in in-house positions before, you may find that there are ties you can use as you transition into full-time freelancing. For Tracy Gold, a Reedsy editor who stayed on at her in-house firm and got paid on an hourly basis as a freelance consultant, this was made easier by the fact she was able to migrate some clients over to her own freelancing business. “I quickly picked up enough new clients to make about 30% more than I did working full-time in about 50% of the hours.”

    The risk of underselling yourself

As a newcomer, you might feel like you should make low offers to secure more gigs — but low-balling yourself is inadvisable, warns veteran editor Cara Stevens. “Never under-bid on a project just to win the business. You not only short-change yourself, you also cheapen your brand and lower the standard rates for your peers.” Providing quality service costs money and time, so make sure you don’t undersell yourself just to have work on your roster.

To get a general idea of the editing market, consult our freelance editing rates summary, the data for which was taken from the thousands of collaborations that we’ve seen happen on Reedsy.

You can also use our editing cost calculator (and even share it with your potential clients) to figure out your rate by genre. Factoring in the niche of your work can be crucial to deciding your rate: one wouldn’t charge the same for a copy editing project on a high-school YA novel as they would for a copy editing of a French naval history book. Along with your level of experience, the expertise you have in a specific niche gives you the ability to do what few other editors can, thus soliciting a higher fee.

Your rates should cover business costs

Another thing to consider as a freelancer is the fact that you’re effectively running a business, meaning there will be business costs that you’ll need to cover. You have to pay for MS Office apps, pay to set up your home office, pay to be part of networks like the Editorial Freelancers Association. You need to pay taxes and health insurance to cover for yourself when you’re sick — there isn’t a company to cover you anymore. Tracy stresses that it’s vital to remember that “if you get sick, there’s no such thing as sick pay. If you can’t work, you don’t make money. I always try to have several months of living expenses saved just in case.” Aim to set a rate that allows you to, at the very least, cover these expenses so that your business is sustainable.

Julie Artz also points out that “the administrative side of running your own business takes up about half your time no matter how efficient you are. That admin includes bidding on jobs, doing sample edits, working on your website, creating blog and social media posts, creating and maintaining a newsletter, developing course content, continuing education, invoicing, bookkeeping/doing taxes, and anything else that you have to do to run your business, but do not get paid for.” At least, that is, not directly. You can make sure that you get paid for all that work by tracking non-billable hours and accounting for that as you write new quotes.

As long as you understand the crucial differences between in-house employment and freelance life, respect your own time and plan for emergencies, there’s no reason why you shouldn’t successfully earn a living without having to rely on an in-house editor’s salary. Like Jasmin says, “if you can make it all work, it’s worth it: being a freelancer has wonderful flexibility, and you get to collaborate with a really broad range of businesses and writers.” Sounds good to us!

How to increase your book editor salary

Now that you have a better idea of what you could expect to earn as a book editor, let’s look at ways to boost your salary.

    1. Strengthen your skills

Pursuing and improving in-demand skills could make you more competitive for promotions and higher-paying positions. These skills include:

    • Copy Editing: Edit books for grammar, spelling, and punctuation errors
    • Developmental Editing: Work with authors to improve the overall structure and content of their book
    • Project Management: Manage the timeline and budget for a book project from start to finish
    • Proofreading: Review galleys or manuscripts to catch any remaining errors before publication
    • Typesetting: Use design software to format text and images according to publisher specifications
    2. Know Your Value

When it comes to negotiating a salary, knowledge is power. Before meeting with your boss, do some research on what book editors in your area with your experience level typically make. This way, you can come to the table armed with the information you need to make a case for the salary you deserve.

    3. Grow your network

As a book editor, you likely already have a strong network of contacts in the publishing industry. But it never hurts to grow your network, and meeting new people can open up new opportunities. Attend industry events, or join a professional organization related to your field. The more people you know, the more likely you are to hear about a job that’s a good fit for you.

How much should you pay a book editor?

You’ve spent more hours than you’d like to admit, devoted to the first draft of your book. It was a messy, creative, unwieldy process, and as you read back through the pages two thoughts occur to your mind:

    1. I have truly said everything I wanted to say in this draft. I feel at peace and complete that my message to my reader is fully in here…somewhere…

    2. This draft is still a mess. There’s too much repetition, tangents, and things just don’t feel like they’re quite right. It needs some cleaning up.

Well, my writer friend, you are in the perfect position to be hiring your first book editor, and I know the primary question in your mind: How much should I pay a book editor?

First, what kind of editing do you need?

Developmental editing is when the editor breaks down the structure of your book to make sure that the content is tight, compelling, and leads the reader easily from Intro through Conclusion. The editor focuses on paragraphs and chapters, maintaining a bird’s eye view of the entire book. If you feel like your book is still a little confusing and messy, you probably need developmental editing.

Copy editing is when the editor breaks down sentences to make sure they flow well, are consistent in style and voice, and are tightly constructed. The editor zooms in, looking carefully at each sentence to see if it could be written in a more fluid or concise way. All books need copy editing.

Proofreading is when the editor scours the entire book for consistencies in grammar, punctuation, capitalization, spelling, italics, hyphens, and word usage. This type of editing is even further zoomed in, almost word-to-word editing. All books need proofreading, a separate proofreading from copyediting.

To be perfectly honest, I would say that all books need all three levels of editing. Developmental editing is what turns your messy, amateur book into a compelling bestseller. Copy editing smooths out your prose. Proofreading makes you look pro. Traditional publishers make sure each book goes through all three levels of editing, and our team at Paper Raven Books does, too.

Second, how much does each type of editing cost?

Some editors charge by the hour, and some editors charge by the word. Some editors are veteran pros in their craft, other editors have raw talent but little experience. Very rarely, you’ll find a golden editor who has tons of experience but not enough confidence to charge what he’s worth, so you’ll get a great deal on editing. Most often, though, what you pay for editing is going to correspond very much with the quality of editing you get.

I’ll give you my recommendations for the price range you should be looking at, in order to balance experience with value. I’ve hired editors for my own writing, and I’ve hired (some of the best) editors for the Paper Raven Books team, so I’m pretty familiar with all the pros and cons. Here’s what I recommend you look for:

Developmental editing at $55 to $75 per hour or $. 03 to $.05 per word.

Copyediting at $35 to $45 per hour or $.02 to $.04 per word.

Proofreading at $25 to $30 per hour or $.01 to $.02 per word.

As a ballpark, if you want all three levels of editing (as I and any reputable publisher would recommend), you should plan to spend about $1,000 per 10,000 words in your manuscript. Usually, it works out to this, whether you pay hourly or per word. So, if your book is 30,000 words, budget $3,000 for editing.

    Do I

really need to hire a book editor?

Couldn’t I use a grammar software, like Grammarly, or hire an English student at a really good college? Then, I’d only be paying $30 for Grammarly or $10 per hour for an English BA. That sounds pretty tempting.

Yep, you can definitely do that. And I guarantee you’re going to cut the longevity of your book’s success.

Most books, given a bit of planning and launch enthusiasm, can hit an Amazon best seller status in some category when they’re free or on promotion. I love that this is possible. It’s so exciting for you, the author of this brand new book, to see its success, to see people downloading, and to read their reviews. That first launch is so adrenaline rushing and beautiful.

Too many books fall into the Amazon abyss after their first launch. Why? Amazon will continue to market your book to the wider Amazon audience. The problem is that much of the first audience was your own people/family/friends/network. They’re just so impressed you put a book together that they’re willing to give you great reviews and share the book.

But when Amazon then advertises your book to the wider audience, this is a more skeptical, less permissive audience. They expect a book that resembles what they’ve come to expect to read like a “real book,” with that cohesive, compelling structure, smooth prose, and error-free. The wider audience will rip you apart for repetition, tangents, and typos. And their reviews will start to sink your ranking until your book disappears into the Amazon abyss.

Gosh, sorry, that sounds really dark! But you know I’ve got your interest at heart. I know you’ve spent way too much time, energy, and money on your book already. When you get to the final stages of editing and publishing, it’s so important to finish strong.

Keep the larger vision for your book in front of your eyes.

Remember that you’re writing this book for a reason. Maybe it’s for the growth of your business and you’re planning to bring in more clients, sales, and revenue. Maybe you want to expand your speaking opportunities, and you’re going to use the book to get interviews, media appearances, and live events. Maybe you want to draw awareness to your cause or mission, and you want to attract people who want to help you spread the message. Maybe you just want to share an inspiring story of healing, and that is beautiful.

Keep this vision in mind, and remember that writing the book is only part of the journey. You are the publisher of the book, too, and that means you’re in charge of quality editing and design to make the book live into the potential you know is possible.

I am a publishing editor. My element is texts, books and magazines (including electronic ones). An art editor, for example, also works with publications. But my difference is that I work mostly with texts.

Do you already know the difference between an editor and a proofreader? Not? I explain.

Corrector (from lat. corrector – corrector) is a specialist who reads the text after the editor. It corrects missing spelling and punctuation errors, removes extra spaces, inserts missing ones, checks to see if there is a dash instead of a hyphen and vice versa. In other words, it tracks errors, the correctness of the text, etc. But the content, the meaning of the text is not his headache. The editor should think about the content. Editor (from lat. redactus – put in order) is a specialist who selects works for publication or orders them from authors. He also helps the author to eliminate shortcomings, to place accents, to express the main idea.

(I must say that in Western practice there are two types of editors. The first ( copy editor ) prepare manuscripts for publication. They can also be called literary editors. The second ( commissioning editor ) specialize in the formation of an editorial portfolio: select or order manuscripts to authors, develop ideas for future books.)

But! Managing the life of a periodical or website is also editing.

Therefore, if someone says: “Peter Ivanov edits the newspaper,” it is not at all necessary that he proofreads all the texts, correcting the flaws. This may mean that he is in charge of the process as a whole. He defines the concept, direction, section editors, columnists, publishers, executive secretary, literary editors, proofreaders, designers, typesetters submit to him … I.e. all specialists responsible for the creative and technical side of the process.

Many publications are so voluminous that one person simply cannot plan, order, evaluate all the texts, and then also correct them. This is what the whole team is doing.

Work requires unhindered access to information.

Computer connected to the Internet, reference literature, text itself (printed or on a computer)

this is how a typical editor’s workplace looks like.

Personally, I prefer to work with individual projects – books, texts. 200% like working with artworks. They require some kind of deep, very personal bestowal. The whole humanitarian part of you works here.

Although I also really enjoy working on the site. But for other reasons: it’s like lego , a constructor of texts, pictures, concepts, themes … And a lot is in your hands. Not all, but a lot.

    Main duel

As I said, the editor works with the authors. This is not an easy task and often turns into a real duel. On the one hand, the editor with his own aesthetic principles and the concept of the publishing house, on the other, the author. The author has every right to defend his artistic style, his idea or the main idea.

But the most difficult thing for an editor is not when the author resists, but when he doesn’t know how to write at all. But why does the publishing house work with him? And there are various reasons for this.

We were taught at the institute that the editor should not write for the author. But it is not always possible to follow this principle. The author may be a good specialist in his field. A treasure trove of information. And you need to help him share this information.

But it’s absolutely terrible when an author who doesn’t know how to write fights for every comma. Even contrary to the laws of the Russian language.

Is there an easy author? Yes! It happens! Thoughtful, talented, intelligent author without delusions of grandeur. It is easy to work with such people – and not only for the editor. It’s easy with these people.

And yet, I understand very well authors who are suspicious of every editorial correction. Because even editors are bad. Not everyone can be trusted with their text without loss. And not every publisher. Not every magazine or site. On the other hand, each publication has its own characteristics and requirements. The word “format” did not fall from the sky – it’s a reality. Those. mutual understanding between the parties is a difficult thing.

    Essence of work

The editor works with both form and content. And often the text is a kind of logical task. For example, the author writes: “I did not see Sergei. It was so dark that I couldn’t miss anyone.” Do you feel a trick?

Or: “In the construction team, Mark and his comrades set off in the morning to dig trenches, cover roofs, build cowsheds…” You don’t even need to be a logician here. For a person who knows real life, and not from books, it is clear that you cannot build a cowshed in one morning. That the barn can take all summer.

Or: “Anna went out into the garden and saw Pedro standing under an oak tree. It was spring green and rustled with its crown under the gusts of wind. It seems to be clear that it was not Pedro who made the noise with the crown, but it turns out painfully funny.

As for style… It’s more complicated. Style and the author’s “I” are inseparable. And yet there are some laws. I will give a textbook example.

Gorky, as is known, abused definitions. And so Chekhov writes to him (then still Peshkov): “You have so many definitions that it is difficult for the reader’s attention to figure it out and it gets tired. It is clear when I write: “a man sat down on the grass”; it is understandable because it is clear and does not hold attention. On the contrary, it is incomprehensible and hard for the brain if I write: “a tall, narrow-chested, medium-sized man with a red beard sat down on the green grass already crushed by pedestrians, sat down silently, looking around timidly and timidly. ” It does not immediately fit in the brain, and fiction should fit immediately, in a second. *

Wonderful editorial advice from a writer to a writer!

    Read or write?

The editor who does not like to write is bad. This means that he assigns himself the role of a judge, not understanding either the nature of creativity or the feelings of the author – nothing! If Chekhov had not been a writer, he would not have been able to give Peshkov any advice. Because such advice needs to be suffered.

    Electronic text editing.

There is a serious interference with the text.

There is such a category of editors – a contributing editor.

This is not just an editor who likes to write from time to time. This is someone whose job it is to review and write articles.

Another aspect of the profession is a rewriter. This is someone who digs deeper into the text than simple literary editing requires. He can generally change everything in the text, change places, write something in … I.e. practically rewriting. (That’s why it’s called that.) If the topic is interesting, then the work is a pleasure.

I don’t understand editors who don’t like to write at all. Such a colleague will definitely object something along the lines of “he is not a writer, he is a reader.” Very stupid. And stupidly, I’ll tell you.

    Professional deformation

    Do editors have professional deformation?

Yes, it happens. Firstly, if you are an editor, then every phrase you hear is weighed on a scale. On the subject of logic, style, literacy. On the subject of banality / originality.

And all kinds of blunders, which are a dime a dozen around, drive me into depression. And the thought at the same time gnaws like this: “Here! Train people! The untouchables are called untouchables (words that are opposite in meaning), they say “put on” instead of “put on” … Where the world is heading !!!

And you already judge people by the way they talk. If a person does not ring and tons, but calls about nits, then write wasted. Though you crack, but I can no longer take him seriously. And this is a terrible absurdity on my part, and I fight it.

Another great sin for an editor is to imagine himself as a judge of the author. This is just typical of editors who do not write themselves.

And editors like to cling to formalities: “Ah! You have the word “editor” repeated several times in a paragraph! Oh, you have “second” here. And where is the “first” ???!!!” To explain to such an editor that he is wrong, you need to educate him, make him read the classics and teach him how to write.

Such editors are martyrs who, in the process, torment others.

But even a talented editor can get blindsided over time. The immediacy of perception diminishes, shrinks, and over the years, I am afraid, may disappear altogether. To prevent this from happening, there is only one recipe: to read good books – the same classics.

Good books are the key water for the editorial mind. It washes away the plaque of the working routine, the informational noise in which we all live.

And the editor who works with talented authors is a thousand times happy.

    Sad moments

Superficial authors are often very prolific. This is problem. You open the text, wade through complex scientific phrases, and find that there is not a single fresh thought there. These are the moments that bring you to despair. So much work – and all in vain ?!

I also hate reading sloppy texts written with one hand. Sometimes you open it, and there is a barn, not a text. A bunch of typos, the dots are a kilometer from the phrase, etc. I sit and put the dots in their place. Brave occupation. And I can’t quit, because the proofreader, even if he is very good, can miss something. Yes, and it is impolite to give the proofreader the text in this form.

What does a career look like?

Periodicals. Journalists often become editors in paper or Internet publications, news agencies.

The career ladder can be as follows: correspondent – department editor – production editor. (The production editor is responsible for posting materials, meeting deadlines, etc.)

In addition, there are literary editors (engaged exclusively in texts), executive secretaries (process coordinators: assignments, deadlines, etc.).

Executive secretary is sometimes confused with production editor. Their responsibilities do have a lot in common. But there is one important difference: the answer does not usually deal with text as such.

Finally, the editor-in-chief is the pinnacle. The position of editor-in-chief is associated with administration and public activities. In theory, he should also read articles coming from the authors, give them tasks, etc. But I know examples when the editor-in-chief is limited to general management, contacts with the authorities and other media.

In small publishing houses, the editor can be both a literary editor and a moderator (leads the work on the publication). He is partly a proofreader and even a designer. He is also in contact with the printing house.

In large publishing houses there is a division of labor – this adds order and makes life much easier.

When the text is edited and illustrations are selected, the layout designer creates a layout of the future book. But the work of the editor continues.

Editing the layout of the book “I want to be a psychologist” .

You can try your hand at a book publishing house as a freelance editor. Or, if education allows, get a job as a junior editor – a person who helps the lead editor in organizational matters.

Over time, one can become a lead editor – this is the name of the editor of the book, who is responsible for its production as a whole, as opposed to, for example, the art editor, who is responsible only for the art.

The lead editor decides whether to publish the work or not, works with the author, etc., etc. He also organizes the work of other employees on the publication. In other words, he is engaged in full-fledged editorial work.

    How to become an editor?

Let’s start with the question: “Can I be an editor?”

You can, if you are interested in literature, if you like to read and write, if you have enough perseverance and corrosiveness, if you are attracted to creativity and not afraid of routine.

Another important point is literacy. You will not be able to work as an editor if you write zhi / shi through s , and arrange commas according to the laws of symmetry, and not the Russian language.

To become a professional editor, you need to have a degree in publishing and editing. Personally, I studied at a university, which today is called the Moscow State University of Printing Arts (MGUP).

But also good editors come from qualified philologists and writers. From journalists, if we talk about periodicals.

But education is only the base. Experience, professional and general erudition, an inquisitive mind and constant work on oneself must be applied to it.

It is important for a beginner editor to decide which topic is closer to him. Economy? Politics? Ecology? Religion? Fiction?

Otherwise, it will turn out that the editor is everything and nothing, a master of all trades, a professional amateur.

The theme is generally the main question of life. Even when the profession has already been chosen.

In large publishing houses, there is usually a division of labor between editors.

Editor-in-Chief is responsible for the strategy of the entire publishing house, determines its topics and, together with the financial director, the marketing policy of the publisher. The editors of departments, editions or series report to him. They work with authors, order manuscripts, evaluate finished manuscripts, decide on revision and directly participate in this revision.

Book publishers are often invited to work on manuscripts literary editors from outside. As a rule, full-time literary editors work in large newspapers and magazines, in Internet publishing houses. They are responsible for the literary literacy of texts. Sometimes the editor’s intervention in the text is very significant. He literary enriches, and sometimes completely rewrites articles written by non-professional authors. This not only eliminates errors, but also changes the style as a whole and even the structure of the article. This intervention is called rewriting.

Literary editors in periodicals work under the direction of the chief and production editors. If the editor-in-chief is responsible for the unified editorial policy of a newspaper or magazine, then the publisher is responsible for its specific implementation in each issue. The issuing editor is responsible for the timely publication of a newspaper or magazine, interacts with the printing house, coordinates the work of journalists, a literary editor, proofreader, illustrators, layout designer and editor-in-chief, if he participates as an author (for example, writes in the “Editor-in-Chief’s Column”).

Managing editor participates in the development of publication plans, proposes fees, replaces the editor-in-chief in his absence, etc.

Work on the website is carried out differently, where some functions of the publishing editor are performed by content manager or Internet project manager . It is interesting that in different editions the division of labor occurs in different ways.

Some magazine and newspaper editorial offices employ editors for working with authors (search for authors, formulate assignments for them, etc.), illustration editors (build editors). In others, these duties are performed by the production editor.

With regard to senior positions, in addition to the chief and issuing editors, there are executive secretary and editor-in-chief in the periodical.

    Read also:

Executive secretary – the line between him and the managing editor is sometimes indistinguishable, and in some editions the managing editor is called the executive secretary (and vice versa). The main difference is that the response section is more focused on the technology of the process, while the production editor controls the content of published newspapers and magazines.

Editor-in-Chief is needed when a publishing house publishes several publications at once, and the editor-in-chief cannot deal with them all with due dedication. The editor-in-chief carries out the publishing policy in a particular newspaper or a particular magazine.

There is a misconception that an editor is a person who only edits other people’s texts. But all outstanding editors, from A. Pushkin with his Sovremennik to P. Gusev, who runs Moskovsky Komsomolets, are people who write. To work as an editor (regardless of the place of work and specific position) you need a good education in the humanities and the ability to create your own texts, understand the nature of the word, various genres and styles “from the inside”. At the same time, it is desirable to have a diploma of an editor, journalist, literary collaborator or philologist. However, the editor must be well versed in the subject of his publication and constantly develop in this direction. Often editors (scientific and even chief) are specialists in their respective fields. For example, a professional biologist might run an animal magazine.

    Description of profession

    • What will you have to learn

The site editor must be proficient in text preparation tools – understand the genre diversity of content, distinguish a note from an interview and be able to write in different formats.

It is necessary to develop emotional intelligence, improve public speaking skills. Without this, it will be difficult to fully realize yourself in the profession, since work is associated with constant communications.

Employers increasingly want to see universal editors, so, in addition to creating content, you need to study various CMS. The possession of graphic programs will become a useful skill – the editor can use it to create previews for texts, collages and pictures.

If the editor works in a specialized online publication, then he will need a deep immersion in the industry, its fundamental knowledge, and terminology.

    • Functional duties

As a rule, the site editor has a supervisor – editor-in-chief or editor-in-chief. It is he who draws up the content plan, according to which the site editor should work. However, he can also initiate topics for content. After all, the search for fresh and relevant topics/persons is one of the key tasks of the site editor. Moreover, this work must be carried out daily.

An important point: content topics should be formed not only intuitively. In the process of compiling it, the editor reinforces his assumptions with the results of the service of key queries of search engines, website traffic analytics.

Where to look for ideas? They can be obtained by studying content published by competitors, reading books, interacting with market leaders on social networks, attending business events, or using online journalism query services.

The site editor is able not only to write the text himself, but also to process the material prepared by correspondents and freelance writers.

At HR-tv.ru, the content manager does the layout. However, the editor also has these skills and, if necessary, takes on this work.

Naturally, the site editor is the first one who is interested in the fact that the content is in demand by the audience. The text may be perfect, but if the reader does not know about it, this content makes no sense. Therefore, the site editor actively uses social networks, mailing lists and push notifications as additional platforms for promoting texts.

    • Career prospects

As a rule, site editors do not immediately become. Specialists start with the positions of a freelance correspondent, journalist, copywriter, content manager.

The next stage in the career trajectory will be the position of the site editor. And then, having achieved positive professional results, you can apply for the position of editor-in-chief, editor-in-chief or project manager.

The lord’s ranch arkansas: The Lord’s Ranch – Trinity Behavioral Health

The end of the road for Ted Suhl’s Lord’s Ranch?

Home Arkansas Blog The end of the road for Ted Suhl’s Lord’s Ranch?

A momentous ruling came after the close of business yesterday from federal Judge Kristine Baker. She declined to issue an injunction to stop Arkansas from cutting off Medicaid payments to two corporations that provide mental health services to youths.

The companies are Trinity Behavioral Health Care and Maxus. Their owner, Ted Suhl, has been implicated in bribing a former state official to get information useful to the businesses, which provide outpatient services and residential care at a facility in Randolph County once known as the Lord’s Ranch. The operation and Suhl have been newsmakers for years — sometimes for their methods (corporal punishment and heavy doses of religion have been among the subjects of controversy) and also for Suhl’s heavy involvement in politics, through campaign contributions to legislators and close association with Gov. Mike Huckabee.

Attorneys for the companies said a cessation of Medicaid by the Arkansas Department of Human Services could threaten the survival of the companies, which had served about 90 in-patients and several thousand outpatient clients. The judge said, however:

Although Trinity and Maxus’s business interests are threatened, so is ADHS’s necessary authority to protect against Medicaid fraud and to ensure the integrity of the state Medicaid program. Although Trinity and Maxus’s patients have an interest in remaining with their current providers, ADHS has indicated that the state and bordering cities have services for these patients, and ADHS has an interest in protecting these patients from credible allegations of fraud. Therefore, at the very least, the balance of equities does not clearly favor either side. Accordingly, because the balance of equities is a close question, Trinity and Maxus’s inability to show a likelihood of success on the merits directs this Court to deny their motion for preliminary injunction.

The state still has a hearing scheduled on an administrative appeal of the suspension. The judge had earlier issued a temporary order to allow Medicaid money to continue to flow for two weeks. She held a hearing Thursday on whether to extend that order and issued her written order Friday evening, the day the order expired.

Suhl has been caring for some children in Warm Springs for free and it was unclear what immediate plans of operation are. The Arkansas Times learned earlier that Alaska had stopped sending children to the facility because of the fraud allegation, which became public when a former DHS official Steven Jones, pleaded guilty to taking bribes. No one else has been charged.

We wrote about some of the political machinations of Suhl in this 2006 article.

Mary Jacoby, a former Wall Street Journal reporter, wrote an investigative article about the operation in 2009, including how Suhl’s ties to Huckabee had produced powerful influence on state regulatory boards.

That article continues to provide periodic complaints to us from parents and former patients about Suhl’s operation. He’s a major jobs provider in Randolph County, but it sometimes comes with friction with neighbors, including one land owner recently fighting to preserve road access against Suhl development.

Could this long-running political story be about to come to a close? Remarkable, if so. Much remains to be known about the scheme in which Jones was involved. It appears to have turned on using people in the court system to steer patients to Suhl, who’s made millions thanks to publicly funded programs. Among the discoveries by legislators critical of Suhl was inordinate spending in Arkansas, compared with other states, on expensive residential care rather than community-based services.

Ted Suhl, Owner Of “The Lord’s Ranch”, Trinity Behavioral And Maxus Ordered To Prison – Imboden Live

A Warm Springs man has been ordered to report to Federal Prison by Jan. 2nd according to court documents after being convicted of bribery, aid of bribery and wire fraud. Ted Suhl plead guilty to bribing top state DHS Deputy Director Steven Jones thousands of dollars in exchange for helping Suhl’s company. Jones plead guilty to his part in the case last year.

Suhl requested that he not be made to report to prison while he challenged his convictions and sentencing, that request was denied and Suhl was ordered to begin serving his sentence by Jan. 2nd 2017.

Suhl’s company came under fire in November 2014 after losing state benefits once these allegations came to the state’s attention. Here is our original article from Nov. 2014:

Federal Judge Kristine Baker ruled in the case involving Trinity Behavioral Heath Care and Maxus owned by Ted Suhl and once known as The Lord’s Ranch. Judge Baker declined to issue an injunction to stop the State of Arkansas from cutting Medicaid payments to the corporations. Both corporations provide mental health services to youths in the facility.

Trinity Health, Maxus and their owner Ted Suhl have been implicated in bribing former Department of Human Services Deputy Director Steven Jones. The Lord’s Ranch was implicated in court documents in the bribery case in which Jones, a former State Representative plead guilty in early October to Conspiracy and Bribery charges. Jones received $5,000 in cash and numerous free meals from the owners of the facility which was under contract from April 2007 to July 2013 with DHS.

Suhl has been described as a controversial figure who sat on a board for former Governor Huckabee during his administration, the board regulated businesses like the Lord’s Ranch. In 2006 Suhl’s company reportedly allowed the use of a plane owned by his company to Gov. Huckabee, his family and staff. Once the North Carolina trip became public, Huckabee repaid Suhl for the use of the plane. That same year Suhl and his companies received 8.5 million dollars in Medicaid funding. Once Suhl’s term was expired, Gov. Huckabee did not reappoint him to the Child Welfare Agency Review Board.

In 2009 DHS reviewed businesses in Dumas and Benton owned by Suhl, the companies were fined $134,714. Suhl’s heavy involvement with politics does not end with his relationship to former Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee but continues through campaign contributions including those of legislators. Lawyers for the Suhl owned businesses say the loss of Medicaid benefits would threaten the future of the companies which according to their claims have helped several thousand patients.

Medicaid will continue sending payments until an appeal of the suspension can be heard by the state. Suhl, Trinity and The Lords Ranch have been criticized by many due to the alleged use of corporal punishment and heavy doses of religion. Suhl and his companies including the Warm Springs facility have been the subject of several investigative reports by media from Arkansas and a 2009 Wall Street Journal report which named ties to the Huckabee administration claiming the relationship had powerful influence on Arkansas Regulatory Boards.

Complaints about The Lord’s Ranch range from those of parents of patients, former patients themselves and those of neighboring land owners in the Warm Springs area. Many believe this may finally be the end of a long running political scheme which includes allegations of courts steering patients to the facility. Legislators discovered that by comparison Arkansas was spending more on expensive residential care rather than community based services further adding millions to Suhl’s companies.

      Alaska

In Alaska, a creepy Batmobile scares visitors to Gorilla Fireworks Amusement Park, a strange vehicle parked right under a giant gorilla statue.

      Arizona

One of the strangest living monuments in Arizona is a giant rose bush, the largest rose tree in the world (it will be 100 years old in 2034).

      Arkansas

In the state of Arkansas, one of the strangest monuments of American culture can be called Miss Laura’s brothel, located in the town of Fort Smith. This must be the first brothel in the history of mankind, entered in the register of monuments protected by the state.

      California

We all love and know the main attractions of the state of California, but this attraction is so strange that it surprises even Native Americans. Zzyzx (pronounced “Zy-ziks”) is a desert city built in the 1940s as part of a study of desert life. This strange monument is located 5 miles south of the Mojave National Wildlife Refuge, there are picnic facilities, but absolutely no drinking water (the water in the lake is salty).

      Colorado

Every visitor to the state of Colorado, starting from Denver International Airport, looking at this giant statue of a blue mustang, asks others: “What did they smoke?” This pale blue mustang has a height of 10.5 meters and sparkles on others with red eyes.

      Connecticut

There is a Cadillac ranch in Middletown, Connecticut. The leading role is played by Cadillac cars, model Yugo, peacefully sticking out of the ground. Now I understand what it’s like to be stuck for life.

      Delaware

In the state of Delaware, the main, wonderful, attraction can be considered the “First State National Historical Park”. You can start laughing after you find out the opening date of this “first” park – 2013. Until 2013, the state of Delaware did not have a single attraction or monument that could be presented to tourists. Irony at its best.

      Florida

The state of Florida has a large number of giant seafood monuments, but Pegasus Slaying a Dragon tops the list of wacky monuments. You can take a closer look at this masterpiece by visiting Gulfstream Park in Hallandale Beach.

      Georgia

In the state of Georgia, you will be proudly shown a strange monument of granite slabs – this is the local monument of Guidestones Georgia, which is also known as the American Stonehenge.

      Hawaii

In Honolulu, the state capital of Hawaii, you can see the bust of Jack Lord, who was a famous TV show host and a top shopper at Kahala Mall.

      Idaho

In Idaho there is a monument to the crater of the Moon, the inscription on which reads: “Get over it!” (Come to your senses!).

      Illinois

Illinois (Gays City) has the wackiest rural toilet attraction, the two-story rural toilet.

      Indiana

Indiana is famous throughout the world for its world’s largest egg. The egg, plus everything, is painted in the colors of the American flag. But, the egg is not the funniest! The funny begins when we learn that the world’s largest egg has been installed in order to draw public attention to the world’s largest sycamore stump, located nearby.

      Iowa

There were heroic people in Iowa who erected a monument to James Kirk, who was also not yet born. These idiots are collecting donations to fund the future construction of this hero’s haven. Would you like to help? At the time of writing, they have already raised $240.

      Kansas

Usually, souvenir plates hang peacefully on the wall, but this was not enough for the residents of Kansas (Lucas city) and they installed the world’s largest souvenir plate in the form of a monument. It’s really too big to hang on the wall.

      Kentucky

There is a place in Kentucky with a very funny name. The State Museum of Paleontology is called Big Bone Lick, which in a free translation into Russian sounds like “Lick the Big Bone”. Unfortunately, it will not be possible to translate this idiom more precisely, but I assure you, in the mind of every American, a large bone appears in the form of a male reproductive organ.

      Louisiana

In the town of Lafayette (Louisiana) there is one of the most stupid statues of the goddess Themis. She was blindfolded, but they forgot to attach her torso and scales to her head, and this head is located at the entrance to the city court.

      Maine

In Maine, you can find the strangest and at the same time cool attraction – for your money, these guys will take you to the desert (yes, the desert, like in the Sahara) and there they will teach you how to draw in the sand. Real Field of Wonders – bring your money.

      Maryland

In Baltimore, Maryland, there is a giant fiberglass pineapple. This monument draws attention to the head office of Victor Graphics.

      Massachusetts

The State of Massachusetts has distinguished itself by erecting a statue of the witch, Samantha Stevens, from a television show in the town of Salem. You can’t refuse these guys in the flight of creative imagination.

      Michigan

Alpena City College, Michigan is guarded by a “tin woodcutter” made from car parts, his name is Paul Bunyan. Strange design!

      Minnesota

You’ll never get thirsty in Minnesota because Rochester has a giant corn cob water tower.

      Mississippi

There is nothing funny in Mississippi except for a town called Hot Coffee.

      Missouri

Brunswick, Missouri has a monument to the world’s largest peanut. One thing pleases that the statue of the world’s largest squirrel is located in Texas.

      Montana

Montana is famous for the bizarre cat statues scattered around the city of Missoula.

      Nebraska

In the state of Nebraska, they thought of perpetuating the memory of the legless goose Andy, the next stage in the development of this theme will be a monument to the plucked goose.

      Nevada

Nevada is famous for its casinos, but not only for them. For example, in Las Vegas there is a store for professional anglers Bass Pro. There is not a single body of water close by for hundreds of miles, but you can buy sports equipment for fishing even now.

      New Hampshire

When the state of New Hampshire is mentioned, a Soviet joke about a submarine in the steppes of Ukraine comes to mind. In Albacore Park for visitors there is a real submarine standing on land. Nearby, for the composition, there are sculptures of dolphins and fish, as well as ship propellers and anchors.

      New Jersey

Lucy the Elephant is New Jersey’s favorite pachyderm. There is little funny here, but beauty too.

      New Mexico

In Alamogordo, New Mexico, you can see the largest pistachio statue in the world. Not funny, but true.

      New York

The Hess Triangle is a small piece of private property in New York City at the intersection of Christopher Street and Seventh Avenue. The funny thing is that (at one time) the government fought for this triangle tirelessly.

      North Carolina

Love acorns? Then welcome to the state of North Carolina, to the town of Raleigh. A giant acorn statue awaits you.

      North Dakota

      Ohio

The state of Ohio and the city of Dublin are known for their “Field of Dreams”. The field is an installation of giant corn cobs sticking out of the ground.

      Oregon

The city of Salem, Oregon is famous for its Golden Lumberjack, a seven-meter statue that is covered in gold leaf.

      Pennsylvania

Pennsylvania has the town of Intercourse (founded in 1754). It would seem that there is nothing funny here, but the fact is that “intercourse” in legal English means “copulation”. It seems that the residents of Intercourse are not going to rename the town – the road sign is cast from concrete.

      Rhode Island

There is a vampire grave in Exeter, Rhode Island. Are you saying vampires don’t die? But, is there a grave? So they still die.

      South Carolina

The peach is considered the symbol of the state of South Carolina. Here, even water towers are made in the form of giant peaches. This giant peach looks, of course, ridiculous, but it attracts attention to itself perfectly.

      South Dakota

South Dakota has the city of Montrose, and the city of Montrose has Porter Sculpture Park. It is not clear why this park is needed, but since parks are being created, it means that someone needs them.

      Tennessee

In Tennessee, there is a replica of the Greek Parthenon. This replica is located in the city of Nashville and is the biggest local attraction.

      Texas

Texas has many attractions, one funnier than the other. For example, Cadillac Ranch. There are several old Cadillacs dug into the sand. Better yet, the fake Prada Marfa store, recreated in the desert, right on the road, 26 miles from the town of Marfa.

      Utah

There are a lot of jokes about the state of Utah, but it’s all nonsense compared to the Utah tree.

      Vermont

Vermont has a Queen Connie, a giant gorilla who holds a VW Beetle above her. Perhaps this is the funniest statue in the country.

      Virginia

Bull Run Castle is a major attraction in Virginia. This is a castle built by one man. Such is the dream of a person, it is not for us to judge.

      Washington

Washington state surprises tourists with a giant cowboy boot and a giant cowboy hat.

      West Virginia

The world’s largest kettle is located in Chester, West Virginia. The funny thing is that he started his story as a beer container.

Wisconsin is home to the world’s largest open-mouthed fiberglass fish.

      Wyoming

The state of Wyoming promotes itself with a statue of a giant horned hare – a jackalope (mythical creature). Yes, this jackalop is the largest in the world, but it has not become less fictional because of this.

The cute housewife walking her dog outside her home in Little Rock, Arkansas, is hardly the woman who was at the center of a sex scandal in ’94. Then Paula Jones, a civil servant, filed a lawsuit for sexual harassment by Bill Clinton. She claimed that in ’91, at the Excelsior Hotel, Clinton, who was then the governor of the state, offered to have sex with him.

Her lawsuit led to subsequent litigation over Clinton’s relationship with Monica Lewinsky. As a result, everything resulted in accusations of the president of perjury and obstruction of justice and ended with an attempt to impeach Clinton. For some time, Paula Jones enjoyed popularity: she gave interviews and even starred for the men’s erotic magazine Penthouse. A $150,000 filming fee and $850,000 from Clinton secured her future and helped pay for her sons’ college.

And then Paula Jones returned to normal life and all these years she was in the shadows: she lived in her house with her second husband (the first husband divorced her after the scandal with Clinton) and raised three sons. But it’s not for nothing that the plate with the number of her car says “2 Feisty” – “too daring”. As soon as it became known about Hillary Clinton’s decision to run for president, she “came out of the shadows” to give interviews. In her speeches, she urges not to vote for Hillary, since this politician cannot be trusted, just like her husband.

“Things might have been different then if Bill Clinton had told the truth about the sexual harassment of me and about his association with Lewinsky. But I’m sure that Hillary was in the know, and that she then lied along with him. They are both liars and should not be allowed into the White House,” Jones says. – Politics does not interest me much, but I am afraid for the life of my children, and their future depends on who will be in the White House. He would still flirt and hit on women, and she… How could she promise to “take care” of every American citizen if she didn’t stand up for the women her husband harassed. She knew what was happening and ignored it. The Clintons are cynical people who are ready to step over a person just to get to the goal. Many people understand this and will never give their vote for her.”

Many years have passed since the scandal, but people still come up to Pola to get her autograph and take pictures with her. “I am happy to do this, because I have nothing to hide and nothing to regret – I always tell only the truth!” says Paula Jones.

56 injured and 12 killed in Chicago over Memorial Day weekend. Firefights broke out all over the city. During one of them, a 4-year-old girl was seriously injured. 9 dead in Baltimore this weekendpeople and 26 wounded. Police departments across the country say crime rates rise in many cities over Memorial Day weekend, but this year’s statistics are particularly depressing. For comparison: last year in Chicago, 6 people died and 22 were injured.

Approximately 53 people in nine US states have contracted salmonellosis. The outbreak is believed to have originated from raw tuna in sushi. Mostly residents of Southern California were affected: 31 people fell ill in 6 counties of California, 10 in Arizona, 6 in New Mexico. “This is a reminder to Californians that eating raw, uncooked fish is dangerous,” says Karen Smith, director of the California Department of Public Health. Cases began in March and people are still admitted to hospitals complaining of symptoms characteristic of the disease.

The US Food and Drug Administration is trying to find out the causes and sources of infection, as several restaurants where the infection occurred do not belong to a common network and are not connected by a common supplier of raw tuna.

Google will start testing self-driving cars this summer. The tests will be conducted on public roads around Mountain View, California, where the company is headquartered. Cars will be limited to 25 miles per hour. For insurance, they will have a driver who, if necessary, will be able to take control.

In the six years that the project has been in existence, Google’s self-driving cars have been involved in only 11 minor road accidents, all of which were found to be other drivers.

Each of the four families needed only $40,000 to build small houses in nature next to each other. The idea to build an inexpensive ranch came to friends recently, and they turned to architect Matt Garcia for help. As a result, four small cottages of 400 square meters were created near Austin. feet each, in which the family can retire, as well as a common building of 1500 square meters. feet with a large kitchen where you can get together and cook dinners. Also, each house is equipped with cisterns for collecting rainwater.

“We are not yet ready to move here permanently, as we work in the city. But we come here more and more often,” says one of the owners of Jodi Zipp.

The sons of Hollywood actress Audrey Hepburn (Breakfast at Tiffany’s, My Fair Lady, Roman Holiday) are arguing over an inheritance. The mother left them many items that belonged to her – jewelry, scarves, hats, posters, costumes, photographs, scripts and prizes – each of which is of great value.

She indicated in her will that the sons of Sean Ferrer and Luca Dotti could divide all these items in half “brotherly”, but did not indicate which item would get to whom. While all these unique items that could decorate the collection of an actress fan gather dust in the Los Angeles Fine Arts & Wine Storage, the brothers argue over each hat, and therefore the judge will soon have to intervene in this dispute.

Princess Daenerys, Mother of Dragons in a rastaman beret like Bob Marley, sings incendiary reggae, crazy and cruel Ramsay Bolton and his tortured captive Theon Greyjoy sing songs together as if nothing had happened, embracing, and the dwarf, Lord Tyrion Lannister performs the composition on stage in the spotlight, like a real rock star.

All this was invented by the famous musician, the leader of the Coldplay band Chris Martin, who invited actors from the HBO series “Game of Thrones” and shot with their participation an unusually elegant and funny pseudo-documentary film (Mockumentary) “Game of Thrones: The Musical”. The film is supposedly about his decision to make a musical based on the TV show, and these fake, jokey documentaries show the process of creating a musical – rehearsals and work in the studio. All this was done as part of the charity campaign of Red Nose Day USA, aimed at raising money for young people and children living below the poverty line.

While all the viewers are discussing another cruel scene from the last episode, here the actors are fooling around, joking and showing that the “Game of Thrones” is just a show.

Daughter 4 years modest child on the street and out of control at home | Child psychologist consultation

    Question

Good afternoon! My daughter is 4 years old, in kindergarten the child’s behavior is very calm, she will fold and pick up all the toys and things for herself and other children, but there is no strong communication with children, more like being alone. On the street, if the children play on the swing, she will never go, she will wait until they leave. Going somewhere, she always says, mommy be with me. And at home she turns everything upside down, she is just super active, achieves her goal with a commanding voice and behavior. I am very worried about this behavior of the child, please tell me what to do?

    Asks: Ganovich Veronika

    Answer

    Hello, Veronika!

If it is the change in the strategy of your daughter’s behavior that worries you, then you should not worry about this, many children (and adults too) behave in one way in society, but at home, in their usual surroundings, with their relatives, in a different way. In a group of their peers on the playground or in the garden, children may be shy or simply do not want to contact other children, avoiding their company, in an unusual new place for a long time to navigate (therefore, the daughter asks you to stay nearby, to be the guarantor of her peace). At home, children usually feel confident, calm, so they can command and behave less “decently” than “on the street”.

If you are worried about your daughter’s behavior at home, that is, you don’t like her increased activity and commanding tone, then you need to work with this separately (that is, without reference to the fact that, they say, “you are an exemplary calm child in kindergarten and what about at home? Offer joint lessons if you don’t have much time, it’s not even necessary to sit with your daughter all the time, you can start together and then leave, or give a task and then come to see how it turned out, etc. As a rule, children they happily respond to the opportunity to spend time with adults and calm classes under this sauce (joint pastime) easily prefer such attractive running around and other activities. You can read together, put together a puzzle, build something from a constructor, complete tasks in notebooks or books with tasks for kids (now there are a lot of options with stickers, mazes, comparison tasks, search for differences, extra in a row, draw something and etc.), engage in any kind of creativity. In general, come up with interesting activities for your daughter so that she doesn’t have any time or interest in “turning the house upside down” (by the way, if the girl’s need for physical activity is still great, then you can linger on the way from kindergarten to playground, if possible empty, so that the girl can climb, run, hang, etc.).

As for the room tone, if your daughter sees that you can’t get anything from you in this way, the tone will change over time. Children can manifest a variety of behaviors, but which stereotype will eventually be fixed in the child’s arsenal depends heavily on the parents. What does not work, as a rule, quickly “dies off”. Say something like: “I won’t talk like that, tell me calmly and politely, and I’ll listen to you.” You can simplify the task for the girl and immediately give her the “correct” shape that is pleasant for you, when the daughter starts to command, say what you would like to hear, for example, she: “I want to drink!”, You: “Mommy, please give me a drink !” Come up with a wording in this spirit for yourself, always repeat it in response to manifestations of a “commanding tone” in your daughter, and in time she will stop “commanding”, and will politely and calmly address you, as you asked.

Municipal preschool educational budgetary institution kindergarten “Thumbelina” with.

sanatorium Yumatovo named after the 15th anniversary of the BASSR MR Ufimsky district of the Republic of Bashkortostan

    History page

For the first time, the existence of a kindergarten in the village of Yumatovo was mentioned in 1935. In 1934, the famous health resort – the Yumatovo sanatorium – was opened, thanks to which the number of residents of the village increased. People had to work, and their children somewhere to determine. So a brave woman was found in the village Kurbangaleeva Nazira Garifovna , who, not afraid of difficulties, took up this difficult task – opening a kindergarten. The garden huddled in a wooden barrack-type building. There were no conditions. There was only one group – mixed age group. It had 25 children. Nazira Garifovna devoted her whole life to this hard work. At 19She retired at 67.

In 1962, a two-story brick residential building was built in the village, where the first floor was allocated for a garden. How good it was here! Finally, partial amenities appeared: sewerage, cold water, central heating, a kitchen electric stove. How many problems were removed at once! Two groups have already been opened here: nursery and senior. And the children have grown. Now it’s a nursery – the garden was visited by 50 children. The following socialist obligations were placed before the kindergarten staff:

    1. Work honestly, conscientiously, fight for the title of “The Best Profession”.
    2. Carry out a plan for children’s days.
    3. Increase the attendance of children through sickness and non-attendance without good reason.
    4. Follow scientific nutritional guidelines.
    5. Continue to instill labor skills in children, pay more attention to improving physical, moral, aesthetic education.
    6. Regularly attend political studies, dignity – clear conversation.
    7. Have no cases of violation of labor discipline.

The village grew, the birth rate went up (the village was rejuvenated), there was a need to open another group, and the state did not think to build a standard building for children, in 1983 another group had to be opened in the same building, i.e. turn the dormitory of the older group into the group room of the newly opened group. And since the area did not allow, a serious question arose before the leadership of the village, district: what if the birth rate is even higher than before, what to do next? After all, now preschool attends 80 children. And there are no conditions even for them. Then the management makes a decision: to build a standard kindergarten for 110 children. It was difficult for Kurortstroy to get this kindergarten, and they were the contractors. The state has fallen on hard times. And yet at 19In 1992, a typical kindergarten “Thumbelina” was opened with all amenities, both for children and for staff. True, the birth rate has fallen sharply, and the number of children in our institution has remained at the same level. To this day, there are three groups of different ages: nursery, preschool, first grade – six-year-olds.

The team in our kindergarten is stable, staff turnover is low, almost all employees have a solid work experience in this kindergarten. There were cases when employees left the walls of our institution, but could not stand the separation from their children and returned to their native land. This speaks of the stability of the team.

An educator Ivanova Anastasia Lukyanovna devoted many years to working with children. Warmth, responsiveness, kindness, great love for children and simplicity characterize Anastasia Lukyanovna.

Ishmuratova Farzana Khamatovna is a modest, sensitive, sympathetic person who has worked in our kindergarten for more than 20 years.

Nikulina Nadezhda Alexandrovna – more than a dozen children graduated from this teacher. Creative, active, loving her profession, Nadezhda Aleksandrovna has worked in a kindergarten for over 30 years.

Zaripova Gulzira Mazitovna – teaching experience is about 20 years. An excellent professional, enjoys great respect and love from parents and children to this day.

Chef Khaertdinova Nadezhda Alekseevna worked in our team for more than twenty years. Since 1987, a young, energetic Almukhametova Rauzana Idrisovna joined our team, who works as a supply manager to this day.

Filippova Lyubov Viktorovna or Aunt Lyuba . That’s what the grown-up guys call her. For many years she spent directly next to the children as an assistant teacher. In her pockets there are always sweets, which she treats her beloved children with pleasure.

In 2002, the head of the kindergarten was Guzina Rita Rimovna . She is modest, benevolent, she used to work as a teacher in Alkino.

The team is mostly female, which both scared and pleased the new manager. She decided to live and work according to the principle “The eyes are afraid, the hands are doing.” The first step, in her opinion, was to study the character of each employee separately, and then to assemble the team into one single whole. These are individual conversations, and advice, and all possible assistance, and moral support both in matters of work and in personal life.

And the most important thing in relations with employees, parents and children, always be honest, frank, direct; Only then will people understand and reach out to her. Also, this person is very self-critical about himself, which means he knows how to listen to the opinions of people and choose the best options for solving various issues. Rita Rimovna managed to secure the allocation of funds for the overhaul of the Thumbelina kindergarten.

In 2022 what types of preschool can I find near me in Gresham, OR?

There are two main types of preschool programs you can send your kids to in Gresham, OR. The first is a full-time preschool program that usually works well for parents working full-time shifts. The second is a part-time preschool program where you can enroll your child for 2-3 days per week and typically choose between a morning or afternoon shift. A part-time preschool can be a great option if you want to ease the transition of this new learning experience for your child. You can also check your options in Gresham, OR for traditional preschool centers, or private home-based preschools.

What should I look for in a good preschool program in Gresham, OR?

When you begin looking for preschools in Gresham, OR ask about the ratio of learning time to supervised play time so you can get a good sense of whether you believe your child’s needs will be met. From there, ask about what a typical day consists of, what the safety protocols are and how discipline will be handled. Also, make sure to check directly with the preschool for information about their local licensing and credentials in Gresham, OR.

How can I find a preschool near me in Gresham, OR?

There are currently 194 preschools in Gresham, OR on Care.com and you can filter these local results by distance from your zip code. What is Tiny Farmers Preschool?

    Tiny Farmers Preschool

offers a curriculum that is all about play! Play allows children to learn and explore the world around them. We believe in preschooling

that nurtures a child’s curiosity, creativity, and their love of learning.

    Children of preschool

age often struggle in an academic environment, and many find it difficult to adjust to a 5-days-a-week school schedule.  That’s why Tiny Farmers Preschool

does two important things: we focus on play, exploration, and experiential education, and we also have flexible programs that allow for your child’s needs. Spending even just two days a week outdoors, learning to tend a garden, feeding animals, and socializing with other children in a safe preschool

environment is a great experience for a developing child, and we hope it will be the highlight of their week.

    • Will my child be overseen by a qualified instructor?

Toni Morelli-McCauley has a teaching degree from the University of Portland. Since 2005 she has been teaching Pre-K through the second grade in private school, the public school system, and from home on the farm.

    • What ages of students do you accept?

We accept children aged 3 years old to 6 years old into our program.

    • What is your class schedule?

Class runs from 8:45am to 12:45pm every weekday, from Monday to Friday.

    • What if I don’t want to enroll my child for the whole week?

Children of preschool age often struggle in an academic environment, and many find it difficult to adjust to a 5-days-a-week school schedule. That’s one reason why we offer tuition options on a weekly basis that are flexible enough to fit your schedule or budget. While we accept children for the full Monday to Friday week, we will also take them for four, three, or even just two days a week. Visit our Curriculum page for more information.

    • What kind of animals do you have on the farm?

We have chickens and cows on our farm! They’re used to kids and very friendly.

    • What should my child wear?

Children should be dressed in comfortable, practical play clothes and dressed for the weather. We are proud of the unique outdoor surroundings on which Tiny Farmers Preschool is located. This is a farm. The children may get dirty. Please plan ahead for your child to be out in all sorts of weather. In the case of severe weather we will stay in our indoor space.

    • Should my child bring lunch or a snack?

Yes! Besides a packed lunch, parents are asked to send a small snack and juice or water with their child daily. It’s a good idea for snacks to be labeled with your child’s name and date.  Due to the prevalence and severity of food allergies, as a precaution, we ask that parents do not send in snacks or treats containing peanut butter or any type of nut or nut products.

    • What if my child cries when I leave?

Most children calm down in the first five minutes after their parent leaves. If would like a report from us, we would be glad to report on your child’s behavior.

Never try to sneak out while your child is engaged in an activity.  Always give a kiss or hug and say “goodbye” and most importantly, always say that you’re coming back.  We will help any child who is having a particularly tough transition and will provide necessary feedback to parents during that process.

Separation anxiety is a normal developmental stage where children experience anxiety when they are separated from their parent.  Separation is a process.  Some children have no separation anxiety and some children experience anxiety for several weeks.  It is important to comfort the child and let them know it is okay to cry or feel upset.

Sometimes children cry because of difficulties such as, but not limited to: recent nightmares, a new baby in the family, or simply a change in routine.
