Westwood Presbyterian Church Preschool | Home

We are excited to be onsite providing our community with a sense of normalcy and an opportunity for young children to socialize and develop under the guidance of our amazing teaching team in a way that prioritizes everyone’s health and safety.

Our updated policies and safety measures are based on information provided by the Los Angeles Department of Public Health (LADPH), the State of California, and the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).

Welcome

Westwood Presbyterian Church Preschool was founded in 1960 as a community
outreach mission of the church. We welcome children of all abilities,
backgrounds, cultures and faiths. We are open from 7:30am – 5:00pm, Monday
through Friday and serve children ages 2 through first grade.

We offer a thoughtful, dynamic curriculum that responds to the children’s
interests and needs and draws on best pedagogical practices. Through playful
inquiry and investigation, our children explore math, science, literature,
language, art, music, movement, technology and the natural world. As you walk
through our classrooms, you will see children engaged in a wide range of
activities from cooking, gardening and building to drawing, painting, singing,
reading and writing. Our goal is to prepare all children not only for
kindergarten but for our diverse, complex and wonderful world.

In addition to our regular preschool program, we offer a range of enrichment classes as well as an afternoon Spanish Immersion Program.

For those children not old enough to join our preschool program, we also
offer Parent & Me for toddlers, the year before enrollment, with a parent one morning a week.

Our Philosophy

When children enter our school, our priority is to make each one feel
comfortable, safe and loved. From this place of trust, children have the
confidence to explore the classroom, develop friendships, problem solve with
materials and peers and challenge themselves with new tasks or activities.

At WPC Preschool we recognize that every child is an individual with
different needs and interests. Therefore we provide an environment that
encourages children to pursue their interests, nurture their strengths and work
on areas of challenge.

Daycare promotions: Marketing ideas to attract parents to your childcare center

9 Sales Promotion Ideas for Your Childcare Business

Childcare isn’t exactly a business where you think about sales and discounts. However, promoting your business takes a lot of work and a solid strategy that includes any number of special offers to attract a new audience. Fortunately, you aren’t just dealing with “BOGO” or other sale options. Today, there are a lot of creative (and helpful) ways that you can promote your childcare business, as well as sales outreach, to drum up a new audience.

Here’s what you need to know.

1. Open houses and welcome events

Although many childcare businesses hold these regularly as it is, they might not be using them for promotions as effectively as they could. When you set up welcome events and open houses for your new prospects, you’ll want to think about other ways that you can incentivize the visit. Consider adding a discount for services if they book at the open house, for example, or even offer a free first day to let you (and the child, if they’re old enough) decide whether this is the right fit for them.

2. New client discounts

Even without an open house or visit, you should be giving new clients some kind of incentive to work with your childcare business out of all the ones available today. You can again offer a “free first day” package or even give people a certain percentage off their first month of services, for example. When you automatically reward people just for trying your business, you’ll get a lot more attention. More importantly, you’ll also get a lot more retention, which is what will keep your business growing.

3. Referral programs are a must

Make sure that you have some kind of referral program in place. Whether it’s discounted services, free days or hours of childcare, or anything else that you offer, it’s a great way to get more business. Since you’re in childcare, why not consider offering something like a gift card to Chuck E. Cheese’s or a similar type of place for those who are referred? If transportation is involved and it comes at a cost, perhaps you can even discount or offer free transportation for those referred to your business.

4. Social media marketing and promotions

Social media isn’t just a good tool to have. It’s an essential part of your marketing strategy today. You should utilize Facebook, Twitter, and other platforms to connect with your audience and build a more personal relationship. You’ll also want to use your social media to run special offers or promotions. You can give people discounts for saying they saw your Tweet, or run an Instagram story featuring your business so people can see what you do. There’s a lot to choose from here—make sure you use it well.

5. Local SEO optimization

Although this is less of a promotional idea and more of a must-have for online branding, it’s something that is often overlooked, which is why we include it here. In a childcare business, you’re going to have a local market and those clients are your focus. Therefore, you can create a lot of self-promotion just by optimizing your local SEO and making sure that you show up on sites like Google Maps and others when people are searching for childcare providers in the area.

6. Advertise at schools and educational websites

This one should be a no-brainer, but some people are so anxious about getting it right that they overlook the obvious. When you are running a childcare business, some of your best advertising can be done at schools, on school bulletin boards, and other educational websites or directories. Parents are looking for these services already, and if your place of business is right within their sight, they’ll be more likely to give you a call. Just because the world is largely virtual doesn’t mean that physical advertising is out the window.

7. Start a blog

A blog is a great resource for any business. You can use it to directly promote your childcare services, of course, but the educational value is really why you’re here. Today’s consumer has a lot of different choices for the businesses that they work with. Therefore, they’re going to want to choose the best and brightest, and that’s never more true than when it comes to people’s children. If you have a blog that talks about childcare and related subjects, or that even offers a glimpse of day-to-day life in your facility, it could be a good way to attract new business without having to outright sell.

8. Offer free tours, consultations, etc.

Trust is a big part of choosing the right childcare facility for many parents. Therefore, if you let people see what you do before they sign up, you’ll likely find that you get more business. People love being reassured about where their kids will be. Consider adding free tours or consultations for new parents and children that come to your business. You can even add extra promotions here, like a free day or two of childcare if they sign up at the tour/consult.

9. Partner with the virtual receptionists at Smith.ai to handle it all

23 Childcare Marketing Strategies to Attract Parents To Your Daycare Center

Running a daycare center with best-in-class systems is not an easy job. With a number of daycare centers coming up, parents have a hard time choosing a perfect one for their child. And that’s where marketing comes in. Marketing can help you stand out from your competitors and tell the parents exactly why they should choose you. While daycare apps can help keep your center, the best of the marketing strategies can keep it running. That being said, here are some winning marketing strategies that will help attract parents to your daycare center.

Why is it Necessary to have a Robust Marketing Strategy?

Remember, a robust marketing strategy augments your management software, while the latter amplifies the former. You cannot make them work in silos. That is how you fulfill the demand for premium quality childcare services.

Winning Marketing Ideas to Establish Your Brand

  • Build a Brand Message
It is important to keep your brand values in mind. For this, you have to start building your perspective and a strong brand message for the childcare marketing strategy. Brainstorm points and highlight the best-suited ones. Remember that you have to think from a parent’s perspective, too.

Answer significant questions like:

Why would a parent come to your center?

What are your core values?

What makes your center different from other childcare centers?

How would you attract a large audience?

These are some of the questions that you need to address before you launch the action plan. Build a unique story for your brand and promote so that it is on the top of the mind of new parents.

  • Create a Website

A website is the most important tool to establish your identity in the market. This is the first step that leads to the discovery of your daycare center. Moreover, it provides all the information regarding your center. You need a domain name and hosting that you can procure according to your budget. Various options in the market are already free, for example, Wix. When you build your website, ensure the following points:

  • Always create an ‘About Us’ page that gives a fair analysis of your brand values.
  • Expand your communication channels by adding your phone number, email ID, address, and links to your social media pages.
  • Highlight the different services that you offer.
  • Ensure the content is interesting as it will reflect how interactive your childcare center’s activities are.
  • Make the website engaging by adding videos and pictures.
  • Build a separate section for the enrollment procedure.
  • Promote Your Business on Social Media

We hope you are on social media already, and if not, it is high time you build your brand’s presence on social channels. These are powerful tools to increase your reach to the larger community. According to Social Media Marketing Industry Report, creating a Facebook brand page can influence two-thirds of the market business. As Facebook has a larger community of people, you can always inform them about the key events like open houses, important dates, or updated learning services on your brand page. Always maintain a warm and professional tone while communicating with the audience on social media.

  • Create a Google Business Profile

A Google Business Profile is a great tool to attract your target audience and help them get in touch or learn more about your daycare center. It has been found in the Global Online Survey that 3 out of 4 clients search the business online and make their selection. You need to build your Google My Business Account and answer a sequence of questions. Make sure your information is up-to-date since that is the point of contact between you and your prospective customer.

Some tips to highlight your daycare center are:

  • Make your profile visually appealing by uploading photos.
  • Put a link to your website.
  • Always try to reply to your customer’s review.
  • List your business in local directories

One example is Yelp, which, like Google Maps, displays local businesses as well as consumer reviews. You could also look for childcare centers on local websites or directories. Make sure you chart out all the listings that you wish to mention yourself in and update your center details there.

You can look for local directories by either Google searching for daycares and childcare centers in the area, or typing in your competitor’s name in the search bar and going through the directories they are listed in

  • Directories are beneficial since they create traffic for you, but they can often turn out to be inconvenient and irrelevant if you are not listed.

  • Invite Parents to Visit your Daycare Center

It is always a good idea to hold an open house for parents to review all the facilities at your daycare. You can plan it twice a year or in alternative weeks according to your convenience. You can arrange any fun daycare activity to engage parents and their children to enjoy together while learning. Also, you can invite parents when the center is in full action so that they can get a clear impression of your daycare center. Take special safety measures, especially during this post-pandemic time, so that the parents are assured that their children will be in a safe environment.

  • Hire Quality Staff

The most important feature that can instantly increase the quality of your daily care center is the responsible staff and teachers. Always remember to add the minimum requirements for a preschool teacher. For example, high school diploma or GED, performance and credit points in childhood education, number of hours working with children, child CPR and first aid certification. Further, having a daycare app in place can help teachers spend more quality time with the children as the other work is automated and streamlined. So make sure your staff is tech-inclined.

    • Online reviews

Positive reviews about your business on the internet add value and credibility to your brand. It encourages your potential customers to trust you and increases the chances of conversion.

It is best if you build the community of these good reviews online over time. You can individually request parents to share their experience on user rating and social data platforms such as G2, Software Advice, Capterra, etc. You could also post the link to the review websites on your social media and urge people to fill in their experiences.

  • Share Educational Content Regularly

Make it a point to share educational content like informational blogs, infographics, etc. on your social media platforms. You can publish content on topics such as ‘How childcare applications are influential in creating opportunities’ or ‘How the parent communication program helps parents monitor their child’s activity’. You can write blogs or short articles based on your strategy. You can upgrade your presence with many outreach options such as:

  • The blog section on the website
  • Guest blog
  • Magazines and newspapers
  • Regular posts and stories on social media platforms.
  • Referrals and Discount

You can also place certain referrals and discount schemes in place. By offering parents a surprise discount while they sign up will alleviate the utility they derive from your services. Or you can try and increase the signup rate by offering some discounts. Referral schemes work when the parents who have signed up refer your services to someone else. This is a strong marketing tool as word-of-mouth continues to impact the behavior of prospective clients like never before.

  • Google Adwords

This is without a doubt one of the most successful methods for potential consumers. Because it delivers individuals exactly what they need, Google AdWords is the most powerful form of advertising today.

When parents search for “daycare” on Google, your ad appears! It’s even better if you have a fantastic website to drive them to.

You might want to employ a consultant because AdWords has a bewildering amount of possibilities. There are several upsides such as you only have to pay if someone sees your site, and you can select your daily budget. It can cost as little as $5 each day, making it a viable alternative even if you only want to try it out.

  • Join Regional Groups on Social Media

You can search for local groups in your area that provide information about your competitors. You can open a Facebook page and search according to your city area and group type. When you join that group, you can put up a post about your daycare center.

You can also build trust among parents by answering their queries. In this way, you can be a valued source for finding the best option for their child.

How Much Do Daycare Workers Make

The daycare business is booming. People are becoming increasingly aware of the importance of early learning experiences and welfare for their children. In 2017, there were an estimated 50 million children under the age of five in the United States alone, and nearly 60% of those children have mothers who work outside of the home. Moreover, that number has steadily gone up as more women enter into full-time careers and some wonder how much daycare workers make after having their first child instead of staying at home.

This growing trend has led to a demand growth that shows no signs of slowing down. So, if you’re looking to get involved in this industry, it’s a perfect time that you do it! So how do you figure out what steps to take next?

In this article, we’re going to shed some light on the daycare business, specifically how much they make and what it costs to open your own.

What Does a Daycare Worker or Childcare Worker Do?

A child care or daycare worker is primarily responsible for the care of children while their parents are away. This may include tasks such as feeding, bathing, and dressing the children, playing with them, reading to them, and putting them down for naps or bedtime. Childcare workers may also be responsible for tidying up after the children, preparing meals, and doing laundry.

Most of the time, child care or daycare workers help children under their care with life skills, such as potty training, basic hygiene, and manners. They may also provide educational enrichment activities, such as arts and crafts, music and movement classes, or storytime.

Daycare facilities commonly have a written schedule, with workers ensuring that the program is carried out properly. They can also tweak the schedule as needed to accommodate the needs of the children in their care.

What is the Average Hourly Rate for Daycare Workers?

The average hourly rate for daycare workers is $13 per hour. This equates to a yearly salary of $27,040 a year working full-time and not getting overtime pay. However, this can vary based on the state you live in.

For example, childcare workers in California make an average of $18.35 an hour, while those in New York make $14.13 and those in Texas earn just $12.78 per hour ($26,560 a year).

Childcare workers who work for the government generally make more money than their counterparts working at private facilities: They can expect to make about 20% more on average with the government.

How Much Does It Cost to Open a Daycare?

The cost of opening your daycare varies greatly depending on how big you want it and where in the country you live. For example, if you are opening up a daycare in New York City, that will be more expensive than if you were to open one in a rural area.

Generally speaking, you can expect to pay anywhere from $30,000 to $150,000 to get your daycare up and running. This cost includes licensing and permit fees, furniture and equipment, marketing materials, signage, and insurance.

Opening a daycare requires a lot of money, but it’s important to remember that this business will also be an investment in your future. Once your daycare is open for business, the money will start coming back into your pocket as parents pay tuition and fees for their children to attend your facility.

In addition, there are also several government programs designed specifically to help small businesses like daycare centers get off the ground. The ‘Child and Adult Care Food Program,’ for example, will reimburse you for a certain percentage of your food costs each month.

Top 10 Highest Paying Cities in the US for Daycare Workers

Now that you know a little bit more about daycare workers and what they do, it’s time to take a look at the top-paying cities in the US. These are where childcare workers can make the most money per hour.

The following list is based on average hourly rates for daycare workers as of 2016, as reported by the US Department of Labor.

1. San Francisco ($28.12 per hour)

The city by the bay is one of the most expensive places to live in America, but luckily for those working in childcare, it pays well too! Here, childcare workers make almost twice as much on average compared to other cities like New York or Los Angeles.

2. Boston ($26.52 per hour)

This city is known for its history and culture, but it’s also home to some of the highest-paid childcare workers in America.

3. Washington, DC ($25.22 per hour)

The nation’s capital offers a lot more than just politics; it also has great salaries for childcare workers.

4. New York City ($24.43 per hour)

New Yorkers may be able to afford those expensive apartments thanks in part to high wages for daycare workers!

5. Seattle ($21.92 per hour)

How to Increase Your Pay as a Daycare Worker?

If you are currently working in the childcare industry but would like to advance your career, it may be time to change. The first step is finding out what type of daycare worker you want to become. Ask yourself these questions:

  • Do I enjoy working with children?
  • Do I have any experience or training that would make me a good candidate for an entry-level position in this field?
  • Would I like more responsibility on the job (i. e., caring for children and their families)?

Once you have answered these questions, it’s time to consider how much money will be needed to support yourself while pursuing your new career goals. For example, if you are starting as a daycare worker, you may be able to find employment at an hourly rate of $11 per hour

Get Experience

The more experience and training you have under your belt – especially in childcare settings like preschools or private homes – the higher your salary. If you have adequate experience with proper training and certification, you can expect to land salaries closer to those mentioned above (i.e., between $30k-40k annually).

Location

As mentioned before, location plays a huge part in the amount of money you can earn in the daycare industry. For instance, if you’re living in Dallas, you can’t expect to earn more than someone working daycare in places like Boston or Philadelphia.

Choose the Right Offer

The next step is to find a job that pays well. If you’re looking for work in the childcare industry, it’s best to look at what type of daycare worker you want and how much money will be needed to support yourself while pursuing your new career goals. Then, look into local agencies and see if they have any openings for childcare workers.

How Business Types Affect Your Pay as a Daycare Worker?

There are three main types of businesses that hire daycare workers:

  • Family-style centers: the most common type of business and usually have the lowest salaries.
  • Home-based programs: typically pay more than family-style centers, but you may need to be available for a longer workweek.
  • Corporate child care facilities: offer the best salaries and benefits, but they are also the hardest to get into.

Each one offers its benefits and drawbacks. It’s important to know which type is best suited for your needs so you can make an informed decision when applying for jobs in this field.

What Services are Offered by Daycare Workers?

Daycare workers provide a variety of services for children. Specifically, they offer the following services:

  • Play games
  • Read stories
  • Feed children snacks or lunches
  • Supervise nap times
  • Take care of any minor medical needs that might arise during the day
  • Diaper changes
  • Help with any homework that needs to be completed.
  • Keep track of the children’s development
  • Note any milestones that are reached or changes in behavior
  • Alert parents if anything seems amiss

Question: The working time of an assistant teacher in a preschool educational institution is 40 hours per week. What should be the working hours of an assistant teacher in a preschool educational institution for children with tuberculosis intoxication?
(“Website “Onlineinspektsiya. RF”, 2021) Question: The norm of working hours of an assistant teacher in a preschool educational institution is established in accordance with Article 91 of the Labor Code of the Russian Federation and is 40 hours a week. In a kindergarten for children with tuberculosis intoxication, teachers have a reduced working time of 30 hours (Order of the Ministry of Education N 1601). The educator’s assistants who carry out their labor activities in groups with tuberculosis intoxication are not provided with a reduced working time in the said Order. However, according to the recommendations of Roszdrav and clause 2.3.2 of the Decree of the Ministry of Labor of the Russian Federation of 04.21.1993 N 88 “On approval of the Standards for determining the number of personnel engaged in servicing preschool institutions (nursery, nursery-kindergartens, kindergartens)” for the assistant teacher of such an institution, the norm is – 36 hours. What should be the working hours of an assistant teacher in a preschool educational institution for children with tuberculosis intoxication? And what document should be followed when determining the norm of working hours of an assistant teacher in groups for children with tuberculosis intoxication?

How to send your child to a kindergarten in France

If you come to live in France, it is quite natural that you will also need to decide how to place your children in this hospitable country. The question is far from being idle, since the system of pre-school and school education in France is significantly different from what you can find in other countries. And this is very good. However, if you want to have no problems, then it is very desirable to know thoroughly the whole system with which you have to deal. Let’s try to figure this out.

  • Firstly, kindergartens and nurseries belong to the education system and are supervised by the relevant authorities. This is unusual, but does not significantly affect anything.
  • Secondly, a French child can be sent to preschool institutions from the age of two months, which significantly relieves parents and shifts part of the care of the child to the state. By the way, in France, the norms are such that parents almost never sacrifice themselves for the sake of the child and continue to live their lives after his birth, which is manifested to a large extent by democracy.

If you decide to come to France for permanent residence with a child, then you will need to send him to kindergarten. Fortunately, there should not be any additional problems here. Even if the child is foreign, kindergartens in France will still have to accept him and provide him with the necessary care and attention. Another thing is that not always and not in all kindergartens there are places, we will talk about this below. But still, in France, the attitude towards the child is much better than in most other countries. Although, what to hide, French children’s institutions have their drawbacks. Which? Let’s talk about this in more detail.

How French kindergartens work

French kindergartens are generally free. Although there are paid kindergartens, as in any other country. Making a choice in favor of one or another kindergarten is very careful, based not on the cost or free of charge of its services, but first of all on whether it will really be able to give your child what he needs. Your own visit to a kindergarten, perhaps even more than one, can help here, as well as a heart-to-heart talk with parents whose children are already attending this preschool. Only in this way will you be able to understand whether this is really the kindergarten to which you would be ready to send your son or daughter.

In any case, if you decide to come to live in France with children, then you should know that you will have to conclude an agreement with a kindergarten without fail. Quite a serious contract, similar to those papers that are signed when concluding real estate transactions, for example. In France, in general, various agreements are very common, including, for example, an apartment rental agreement, which is not concluded in every country in the world.

This agreement contains many aspects that may be important for both the child and the parents.

First, the contract contains a schedule for the child’s attendance at preschool. Kindergartens, as a rule, work from 7.30 to 18.30. However, each parent decides at what time he will bring and pick up his child. So a preliminary plan is being drawn up. For example, someone will bring at 8 o’clock and pick up at 15, and someone will bring their child from 10 to 18 o’clock. As a rule, the time is indicated in the individual contract, and in case of any disagreement, the focus is on the individual contract between the parents and the administration of the kindergarten, and not on the general regulations of the institution. If the kindergarten is paid, then the cost of one hour of the child’s stay on the territory of the institution will be calculated for you, after which you will receive the daily cost in your particular case.

Normal kindergarten prices in France start at 1.25 euros per hour. It would seem that this is the cost of one cup of coffee and not much at all. However, when a child is in kindergarten for 5-6 hours a day, it turns out already 10 euros, and per month, respectively, 250-300, which is a rather large amount. So be sure to think, including, about the cost, when you collect your child in a kindergarten in France. As already mentioned, there are free kindergartens in France, but getting there is somewhat more difficult. Some enterprises can help ensure that the children of their employees have simplified access to kindergartens, sometimes you can even get free places. This is also worth thinking about, as it is one of the easiest ways to solve this problem.

The life of a child in a kindergarten in France

In principle, there is not much difference with kindergartens in other countries. In the same way, nannies and educators look after the children, they are visited by teachers who come to play music, reading, drawing with the children, as well as by medical personnel who from time to time check the health of the children and give specific recommendations to each parent.

The difference lies in the fact that since the kindergarten in France is an educational institution, the load here is significantly increased in terms of obtaining knowledge by children, so you have to be ready for more serious classes than in ordinary kindergartens. But at the exit from kindergarten, the child will know French at a good level. This is especially worth paying attention to for those who come to live in France with children from other countries, for example, from Russia or from the territory of the former USSR. Thanks to the child’s education in a kindergarten in France, it will be much easier for him to learn this language, which will definitely come in handy in the very near future.

There is also much more democracy in the French kindergarten. Children can sleep when a quiet hour is set, or they can play quietly if someone does not want to sleep. Likewise, in most cases, they have a choice about what they would like to have for breakfast or lunch. Therefore, a child in a kindergarten in France is in many ways more comfortable than in similar institutions in other countries. Although, of course, nothing in the world can replace parental love and care for a child.

Pros and cons of kindergarten

With regard to kindergartens in France, the pros and cons of such institutions are in most cases the same as in other countries.

One of the most significant advantages is the fact that the child does not burden the parents, and they have the opportunity to work or do their own important things. In addition, kindergarten teaches the child to think that parents are not obliged to constantly be near him and fulfill his whims. This opinion is shared by the majority of French parents, who value their own freedom and independence much more than Russian ones, do not believe that after the birth of a child, you need to forget about your life and devote yourself completely only to education.

In addition, the child learns to communicate, which is also very important. Again, he will be able to communicate in French, and this will help him overcome language barriers and soon reach such a level that life in France is comfortable for him.

As for the minuses, they are also present in the French kindergarten.

The first is that everyone around the child will speak French. If the child is very small, then with a little help from his parents, he will soon be able to master this language as his native language. If the child already knows, for example, the Russian language, then he will have to hastily relearn and adapt. However, children quickly learn new languages, in most cases they do it much faster than adults. There is a real chance that by the time he or she moves from preschool to school, your child will have a good command of the language he will have to predominantly speak throughout his life. Of course, this is if you decide to come live in France for permanent residence . For all that, France has such a level of civilization that your child will have to be provided with an interpreter so that he understands well everything that happens in kindergarten. As a rule, this translator is a nanny who knows not only French, but also Russian. And therefore, most likely, your compatriot, because the French are reluctant to learn foreign languages. In any case, this is a level of care that children in other countries never even dreamed of.

In addition to nannies and teachers, a large number of men work in French kindergartens, which is also somewhat unusual for those who made the decision to come to France for permanent residence . However, in France, the profession of teachers and educators is considered very prestigious, and they receive for their work somewhere at the level of 1200-2000 euros, which is not so little.

The second disadvantage of the French kindergarten is food. In kindergartens in the post-Soviet space, the menu for children for each day of the week is clearly and strictly regulated. Many dishes look unappetizing, especially through the eyes of children, but they have a clear ratio of proteins, fats and carbohydrates. In France, it’s different. Many children take their own breakfast or lunch from home. If your child always has food with him, the caregivers will only be happy. At the same time, in France, children are more often given something that does not require complex preparation, children like it, but are not very useful. For example, white bread with Nutella, which is very sweet and high in calories. So if you send your child to a kindergarten in France, do not forget to ask what they are fed. And if he is too enthusiastic about a large number of pies and sweets, then you should take care to provide him with a healthier diet that will benefit both the figure and physical development.

Currently, many kindergartens issue a separate invoice to parents specifically for children’s meals. For example, it may turn out that you have to pay 8-15 euros per day extra for food. It often turns out to be very expensive, and the reason for this may be the fact that children are taken to dine in a cafe, where not only can they serve dishes that are not ideal for a child’s body, but also make a big markup in price over the real cost of the dish. How to be in such a situation? Either put up, or look for another kindergarten, or cook for the child individually, taking into account his children’s needs.

How to get your child into kindergarten

On the one hand, France declares that there are always enough places for children, so the queue for kindergarten is an unprecedented thing. But on the other hand, all this just happens. For this reason, it is better to rush a little in advance than to run into problems later.

In France, the keyword for everything is in advance. So think about how to book your places in kindergarten, in advance. What can I say, if the French even book places in the cafe where they are going to go tonight after work! Moreover, it is worth worrying in advance that there is a place in the kindergarten for your child, if you decide move to France for permanent residence . Most often, French women and future fathers begin to deal with this issue during pregnancy, so as not to encounter any difficulties later.

First, you need to pay a visit to the kindergarten and talk to its director. In most cases, you will be verbally assured that there will be no problems, especially if you have and your child will have a medical insurance policy in France, as well as all other documents in order. However, do not rush to calm down.

What Is Early Childhood Education?

Early childhood education (ECE; also nursery education) is a branch of educational theory which relates to the teaching of little children (formally and informally) up through the age of eight (birth through Grade 3). Infant/toddler education, a subset of early childhood education, denotes the education of children from birth to age two. It emerged as a field of study during the Enlightenment, particularly in European countries with high literacy rates.[3] It continued to grow through the nineteenth century as universal primary education became a norm in the Western world. In recent years, early childhood education has become a prevalent public policy issue, as municipal, state, and federal lawmakers consider funding for preschool and pre-K. It is described as a crucial period in a child’s development. It refers to the development of a child’s personality. ECE is also a professional designation earned through a post-secondary education program. For example, in Ontario, Canada, the classifications ECE (Early Childhood Educator) and RECE (Registered Early Childhood Educator) may only be used by registered members of the College of Early Childhood Educators, which is made up of accredited childcare professionals who are held accountable to the College’s standards of practice.

Testimonials

Some editing was made for minor spelling and readability purposes.

i brought my first child here when he was 4 for preschool and prep for kindergarten. i loved the school and his teacher. Very good, understanding and easy to talk to staff/director. i plan on sending my daughter for the preschool experience also, as soon as she is 4.

As a former employee of A Step Above Academy, I loved my experiences here. The facility was clean and has a learning rich environment. The owners genuinely care about not only each child at the center but also every employee there as well. This was definitely one of the best centers I’ve ever worked at and I highly recommend them whether you are looking for child care or for employment in a child care center.

I needed a place for my Grand kids for a few days and they were very accommodating. This center was very clean, friendly and I felt it was a safe atmosphere.

| Methodical equipment of the center

Methodological equipment with unique educational, developmental and educational games seems to us very important for working with children not only of early age, kids with special needs, but also for children of primary and secondary school age. In our center, this is given great attention. And this is not accidental, because the lesson should be effective and efficient, in this, of course, correct, high-quality, multifaceted manuals, developing, educational games help specialists. There are more than 18,000 of them in our center and the database of benefits is constantly updated. The methodologists of our center create their own methodological developments for each manual. They closely monitor all global trends in children’s educational games, attend exhibitions, conferences, seminars, cooperate with many manufacturers of educational games and educational aids.

We are well aware that the basis of educational games is an important principle of learning – this is from simple to complex. This principle allows us to solve several problems related to the development of creative abilities in the game at once.

First , educational games can give food for thought from a very young age.

Secondly , their task-steps always create conditions ahead of the development of abilities.

Thirdly, , each time rising independently to its ceiling, the child develops most successfully.

Fourthly , educational games can be very diverse in their content,

Fifthly , while playing games with their children, fathers and mothers imperceptibly acquire a very important skill – to restrain themselves, not to interfere with the child, to think and make decisions for himself, not to do for him what he can and should do for himself.

The integration of educational games into the educational, developmental or correctional process has shown that the rate of mental development of babies can almost double. Of course, games are not at all some kind of elixir of talent, taking which “every other day for a tablespoon” you can achieve the desired results. Educational games, of course, cannot replace the program, the methodologist, the goals and objectives of the learning or development process. This is only one of the means of developing abilities, and it will be the more effective and useful, the less contradictions there are between the principles that formed the basis of these games, and the principles on which the entire system of dealing with children in the family is built. But it must be well remembered that children have a visual-figurative perception of reality, any most complex information can be assimilated by a child if he has managed to “feel” it, “pass it through his fingers”, experiment,0003

The game is a magic wand with which you can teach a child to read, write, and most importantly think, reason, invent and prove The game is not only development and learning, but also communication, communication and interaction.

Play is very important for the normal development of a child’s abilities, as it lays the foundation for a child’s future ability to read, write, count and think creatively.

Play has an undeniable influence on all aspects of child development.

Through play, a child learns to search, crawl, walk, run, climb, jump, throw, catch and balance – all of which offer great potential for developing physical (motor) skills. In the study of toys, the child improves the motor skills of fingers and hands, which further affects the development of his mental, speech and cognitive abilities.

Mental faculties undoubtedly develop from the first days of life. During the game, the child learns to draw conclusions, to assume the relationship of phenomena and processes. Children learn the properties of objects, the colors and sizes of the objects surrounding it, and all this through play activities. As for conversational skills and the process of communication, even here it is not complete without a game, so in the process of communication the child begins to understand and apply the basic rules of communication with people.

Team and role-playing games develop the social skills necessary for school and not only life, the child learns to cooperate, defend his point of view, and resolve conflict situations.

Emotional development is also necessary for a child, starting from early childhood. In role-playing, and just in team games, the baby gets used to working with his emotions. Rejoice in showing your happiness in public, hiding sadness and disappointment at the right moments.

Preschool: How much does it cost?

The average cost of preschool for kids in the U.S. between the ages of 3 and 5 is around $10,000 per year. It’s hard to determine the exact number, since preschool costs vary according to where you live, what type of preschool you choose, and whether you opt for full-time or part-time hours. Do some research and ask around to figure out the average preschool costs in your area. If you need help paying for preschool, your family may qualify for scholarships or government-funded financial support.

As you probably know, childcare costs in the U.S. – including preschool costs – are astronomical these days. (In many states, daycare is more expensive than in-state public college tuition!)

Preschool is similar to daycare in cost and function. Both offer educational and social opportunities for young children, and serve the needs of working parents who require childcare during the day. Generally speaking, preschool is more academically oriented and offers more of a structured learning environment.

The focus of preschool is on developing social, emotional, academic, and life skills (here’s how to know if your child is ready for preschool). There are many different types of preschool programs. Some larger daycare centers have a preschool class, and there are a range of public and private preschool options, including Montessori schools and parent co-ops. Preschools may be play-based, focused on academic skills, or a mix of both.

Keep in mind that if you enroll your child in a preschool that’s not part of a daycare center, it’ll generally have shorter hours and be closed for more holidays, including during the summer. Most independent preschools operate on a September-May or September-June academic calendar, like elementary schools. This can be difficult for working parents, and may require the additional expense of an after-school or summer babysitter.

Here’s some information on the average preschool costs in various parts of the U.S., plus ideas and resources for making preschool more affordable for your family.

Average cost of preschool

Parents of kids ages 3 to 5 can expect to pay about $10,000 per year for preschool, according to Child Care Aware of America (CCAoA). The nonprofit surveys child care resource and referral organizations to determine the annual price of childcare for various provider types and age groups.

Preschool is generally less expensive than full-time care for an infant, since babies require more one-on-one attention from caregivers and the ratio of students to teacher is higher for younger children. But still, preschool is expensive – and unaffordable for many American families.

This is a known problem, and some states – including Florida, Vermont, and Oklahoma – offer universal (free) preschool. Some other states have subsidized or partially-free preschool or pre-K. But many do not.

It’s difficult to determine average preschool tuition prices. Costs vary widely and depend on a number of factors, including:

Advertisement | page continues below

  • Where you live
  • What type of preschool you choose
  • How many hours a day/days a week your child will be in preschool

The most important factor to consider when figuring out the average cost of preschool is your location: Preschool costs more in states with higher wages and costs of living. For example, childcare for a 4-year-old in Massachusetts is $15,095 per year. Mississippi has the lowest childcare costs, with an average of $4,784 per year for a 4-year-old. Each of these numbers is for the 10-month academic year, not including the summer months.

The best way to figure out the costs of preschool in your area is to do research and ask around. Gather several quotes from different preschools so you can get a range of pricing. You can also contact your local Child Care Resource and Referral (CCR&R) agency, who can help you find options and resources for preschools near your home or work.

Online resources are very helpful, too. To find average preschool costs by state, check out the Economic Policy Institute’s childcare costs toolOpens a new window. Each state’s numbers are laid out by average costs per month and per year for both infants and 4-year-olds.

How to save on preschool costs

If you’re struggling with figuring out how you’ll afford preschool, here are a few ideas and resources for potentially saving money on your child’s early education.

Shop around. Before choosing a preschool for your child, research (and perhaps tour) a few of the options in your area, ask friends for recommendations, and compare pricing so you know what the current rate is for preschool in your area.

Consider a cooperative preschool. A cooperative preschool (co-op for short) is organized and maintained by a group of parents with similar interests and philosophies. Sometimes under the guidance of trained early childhood teachers (but sometimes not), parents help operate the co-op, and are hands-on in their child’s day-to-day learning. Parent-run cooperative preschools generally cost less, but require more of your time and may not be feasible if you work full-time.

Explore the option of transitional kindergarten. Typically, students eligible for transitional kindergarten, or TK, turn 5 between September and December. This year of schooling helps bridge the gap between preschool and kindergarten. California is currently the first state in the U.S. to roll out its state-funded transitional kindergarten program, but many other states offer TK for a monthly fee. TK is less expensive than private preschool but more expensive than public school (meaning it’s not free), so this could be a more cost-efficient option than traditional preschool if your child qualifies.

Inquire about a sibling discount. If you have two or more kids attending the same preschool, it isn’t unreasonable to ask the staff if they can offer you a discount on tuition. It may not be a buy one/get one free type of deal, but it’s certainly worth asking!

Ask if you can pay in installments. Some preschools operate on an installment plan, and the more quickly you pay the tuition in full – say in two installments rather than monthly – the less expensive it will be for you. In an effort to save on paperwork, many schools will charge interest if the tuition payments are spread out over a period of months, so ask your school what their payment policy is. While you’re at it, ask whether your school offers scholarship or tuition assistance, and whether your family qualifies.

Figure out if and how you can trim costs. Certain preschool add-ons can add up quickly, such as hot lunch, aftercare, transportation, or field trips. Think about whether or not you’re comfortable with your child opting out of any of these “extras” to save some money each month.

Consider having a family member watch your child part-time. If full-time preschool isn’t in the budget, consider sending your child to school part-time, and having a family member or sitter watch them the rest of the time.

Check your eligibility for state-funded preschool. Some states offer pre-K to eligible families at low or no cost. Select your state or territory on the ChildCare.gov “See Your State’s ResourcesOpens a new window” page and review the “Child Development and Early Learning” tab to see if public pre-K is available where you live.

Pay through a Flexible Spending Account (FSA). Though you can’t use money in a 529 plan for any educational expenses before kindergarten, some companies offer employees access to a Dependent Care Flexible Spending Account, which lets you use pre-tax dollars to pay for childcare. Ask your HR department if this is an option for you. It may not help you save money month-to-month on school expenses, but it can lower your tax liability at the end of the year.

Look for low-income support or assistance. Every state offers income-based assistance for those who apply and qualify that can help pay for or subsidize the cost of childcare. To find out what’s available in your state, check the database on Child Care AwareOpens a new window for a list of state-by-state resources. Other help is available through the Child Care Development FundOpens a new window and state-by-state Head StartOpens a new window programs, which are offered to families whose household income is below the poverty level.

Preschool Cost Breakdown: Average Tuition and Fees to Expect

Taking your little one to preschool is a huge milestone. It means they’re growing up and it’s time for them to start their educational journey in a school environment. If you’ve decided to look into preschool for your child, you may wonder, how much does preschool cost? Read on to learn more about what you can expect to pay when sending your child to preschool.

How Much Does Preschool Cost?

In many cases, preschool costs money. While there are some free, public preschool programs through school districts and community organizations, the average cost of preschool in the U.S. sits at $889 per month, according to the Center for American Policy. This amounts to an average of $10,668 per year.

Preschool costs generally come in the form of program fees or tuition. The funds go toward maintaining the facilities, paying the staff and educators, providing snacks, and other operational expenses.

This average cost of preschool is just that — an average. The actual costs vary widely from state to state and even city to city. Arizona boasts an average monthly preschool cost of $787 per month coming in below the national average. Washington D.C., however, has one of the highest national averages for child care costs coming in at $1,372 per month for preschool.

Costs by Preschool Type

When trying to determine how much preschool costs, you’ll want to consider the type of preschool you want them to go to. You have a number of options on this front including specialized private preschools, bilingual preschools, public preschool programs, Montessori preschools, and more. Here’s a look at some of the most popular preschool types and their respective costs.

Public Preschool Cost

Some areas have public preschools associated with the local school districts. These programs aren’t offered everywhere, so you’ll want to do some research to see if any public programs are available in your area. Because these programs are publicly funded, parents don’t have to pay any tuition or fees. These programs may be half-day or full-day programs, and typically have slightly larger class sizes than private preschools.

Private Preschool Cost

Private preschools are owned privately and may lean into a specific specialty or focus area. Some private preschools focus on language immersion and teaching children to speak a second language. Other private preschools are operated by churches or religious organizations, offering an educational experience that incorporates religious values and principles.

The primary determinant for private preschool cost is the location, program itself, and program length. Some private preschools offer year-long programs. Others may offer 9-10 month programs. Many private preschools also offer both full-day and half-day programs.

As a general rule, full-day and full-year programs are typically more expensive than half-day and partial-year programs. The average annual cost of preschool for full-time, full-year programs is $13,655 per child.

Montessori Preschool Cost

Montessori preschool programs, which follow the Montessori method developed by Dr. Maria Montessori, are another segment of private preschools. These programs focus on self-directed, hands-on learning, encouraging children to play, explore, and be curious. Tuition for Montessori preschools is set by each individual school. However, Montessori preschool costs often range from $5,000 to $20,000 per year.

Why Preschool Is Worth The Investment

It’s no secret that preschool costs can add up. But, is it worth the investment? Countless research shows that yes, it is. Children who attend preschool are consistently more prepared for Kindergarten than their counterparts who did not attend. Additionally, studies show children who attend preschool reap the benefits of their preschool education long into adulthood. Investing in preschool is investing in your child’s future and setting them up for success.

Affording Preschool for Your Child

If you want to send your child to preschool but are concerned about the cost, now is the perfect time to do your research. Hop online to see if your local school district has a public preschool program. Additionally, look into your company’s benefits package. Some organizations have corporate discount programs or childcare programs that may apply to preschool.

Then, take advantage of any child care tax credits you may be eligible for. You may be able to receive cash to apply toward preschool for your children. Additionally, some states have child care subsidy programs that can help fund preschool. Learn more about what resources are available in your state.

Colorado and Colorado Public School Rankings

Model Validation provided by NUMERIOUS INC.

Numerious has certified SchoolSparrow’s algorithm as valid to use for rating public schools in the United States.

SchoolSparrow’s algorithm calculates the number of students, on average, that should be deemed proficient on the Reading/Language Arts (RLA) section of the standardized test at any given school. Among other variables, the algorithm takes into account the number of economically disadvantaged students (ECD) and the number of students with disabilities (CWD).

Using the data set provided by the US Dept of Education, Numerious was able to replicate SchoolSparrow’s model. Numerious also looked at indicators of how correlated the test scores are to income demographics, and the model’s goodness of fit.

The actual distribution of the number of kids deemed proficient at US schools and the distribution of the model’s predictions is remarkably strong. The predictions are nearly 84% correlated.

Numerious’ review of SchoolSparrow’s algorithm indicates a high correlation between a school’s economic demographics and population of children with disabilities. Our analysis shows that SchoolSparrow’s algorithm also displays goodness of fit based on several indicators.

Select The Grade by Which you Want Schools Ranked

When you enter a Grade, your search results will show listings in the school boundaries of public schools that have your indicated grade. Not all elementary schools are K-5; for example, some are K-3, and if you have a 4th grader, the K-3 school is not really an option for you.

Schools in your selected Location(s) will be ranked according to test scores for the GRADE you select. Test scores are segmented by grade for every school. Other sites show one overall school score, so if one lower grade has superior testing results compared to the higher grades, the overall school score does not move significantly. This is how SchoolSparrow provides an opportunity to possibly uncover schools that are improving from the bottom up, by ranking schools according to the grade you indicate. Testing starts in the 3rd grade, there is no data for K-2nd grade.

Sort By ECD?

ECD is short for economically disadvantaged. Research has shown that high standardized test scores have more to do with the socio-economic status of the parents of children at a school as opposed to how well the school is teaching. Ranking schools according to how well economically disadvantaged students are performing on standardized testing could be more informative about how effective a school is at teaching. This article is the inspiration for this new ECD ranking option

Why Boarding Schools

Thinking about giving your child the best education , the first thing to consider is it is to go through an environment that will provide a good support system, increase resilience, and increase confidence, quick wit, and mental health.

So you will agree that achieving this now without being distracted by the Internet from video games, electronic gadgets and phones can make it difficult for you to achieve this, especially if you are busy with work.

This is one thing boarding schools can help sort out. There are countless other reasons why a boarding school is the best option. Despite some drawbacks, the benefits far outweigh them.

In essence, a boarding school provides students with 24/7 opportunities to develop their important life skills as well as individual interests and hobbies.

Other causes include;

Good education

Boarding schools provide students with the opportunity to create a good and solid educational base. Since students stay away from their cozy homes without parents to look after them, they tend to be more disciplined and responsible.

In addition, they are provided with a platform for academic advancement and a careful reflection of this in the future – whether it be further education, career aspirations or otherwise

College Ready

This is another reason why you should consider sending your children to a boarding school. Boarding schools prepare students for college life.

With the curriculum, experience, and other activities that your children will be involved in, they can go to college or even university.

In addition, there is a supportive environment that can help children feel confident in their decisions.

In addition, they go to college better prepared for academic rigor because they learned responsibility at boarding school.

Favorable and safe environment

This is the most common thing in every boarding school. When you consider the stress and risk of having your kids go to the bus stop every morning, sometimes trying to get through traffic, going home after school every day, which can even cause psychological stress, boarding school is considered the best. way out.

Must be Colorado Boarding schools?

In Colorado, most boarding schools strive to teach students how to live with a roommate and share space. They also provide a platform that gives space for teacher-student relationships where students have teachers as their guardians and advisors.

Moreover, these boarding schools allow students to get to know each other at different levels. Joint life, work and play create a family atmosphere for parents and residents of the hostel.

University of Colorado began to prepare students for space colonization

  • Technologies

Photo Colorado School of Mines Colorado School of Mines students are already learning how to mine on the Moon and Mars.

An angular robot that drives what looks like a paddle wheel on a boat makes its way across a gray sandy surface. Its design is unlike other rovers such as Curiosity, but it provides better traction and allows you to climb and descend slopes. It may seem that the robot is driving on an extraterrestrial surface. However, in fact, this small device is working on the “Lunar Test Site” in the building of the Institute of Earth Mechanics in the vast territory of the Colorado School of Mining.

Today, the Colorado School of Mining focuses on training future engineers to build colonies on the Moon, Mars, and beyond. Its students will play a key role in space exploration, because mining the moon is likely to be easier than getting them there. “We have to find resources. We need to figure out how to mine them,” says Paul Johnson, the university’s president. “We need to figure out how to process them. And at some point we will reach a level where we will make things out of them.”

Colorado School of Mines

The school is ranked 94th in the ranking of the best American universities according to Forbes. Since the fall of 2018, it has been offering several programs in “space resources”, from advanced training to master’s or graduate studies. 75 students attend classes such as “Space Resources Fundamentals”, a broad overview course, and “Building Space Systems”, where students build spaceships and other objects from materials available on the Moon or Mars. Other seminars focus on the economic and legal implications of space colonization. All courses in the program are available online.

It may sound like science fiction, but the demand for students at the School of Mining is very real. The commercial space industry is a $350 billion giant shaped by a generation of Silicon Valley startups like Elon Musk’s SpaceX and Yury Milner’s satellite company Planet.

According to Morgan Stanley, by 2040 the total revenue of space industry companies will reach $1 trillion. In the meantime, NASA is awarding them billions of dollars in contracts as it plans to return to the Moon—and this time to ensure a permanent human presence there. The key condition for creating a permanent base on the Moon is to reduce the amount of resources that need to be brought there from Earth. “If you want to take your family from Denver to New York, you won’t be bringing all the fuel you need, the refrigerator, all the food, etc.,” says Angel Abboud-Madrid, director of the School of Mines’ Space Engineering program.

Students of the school get the opportunity to work directly on NASA projects. In addition, entrepreneurship is encouraged among students – they have become the founders of five space startups, including those that grew out of the program itself. For example, Lunar Outpost, which built a robot that makes its way through the “Lunar Test Site”, receives many commercial and government contracts – both for the lunar rover itself and for other technologies, such as an air quality monitoring system.

Bloody Aurora – MK

Incidents

Aurora – the goddess of dawn, dawn in ancient mythology. Homer called Aurora the goddess “with pink fingers”. Aurora is a city in the state of Colorado. In fact, it is an eastern suburb of Denver, the state capital. A “sleeping” city with small enterprises… Until July 20, no one in the world noticed how Aurora rises and sets over Aurora. But from the very first hour of that day, the pink-fingered goddess was toppled by a murderer with bloody hands…

When a person enters the cinema and when the lights are turned off in the hall, he forgets about the topic of the day and plunges into the world of fantasy. He seems to be running from the trap of life’s boredom. But last Friday, the people of Aurora, who came to the multiplex above the name “Century 16” (“Century 16”), found themselves in the trap of the world of phantasmagoria. Just after midnight, someone dressed in black entered cinema hall 9 from the exit door of the multiplex. First, he blew up two cylinders filled with gas, and then opened fire on the stunned spectators, among whom were many children. In cinema hall No. 9was the premiere of the blockbuster “The Dark Knight Rises”.

The audience’s first reaction was from the world of fantasy. It seemed to them that what was happening was just a publicity stunt. Indeed, the mass killer seemed to have left the screen. A bulletproof hoop around the neck, body armor, protective leggings on the legs and a gas mask. A black cloak was thrown over these armor of the 21st century. The killer started firing from an AR-15 assault rifle, a Remington shotgun, and a Glock pistol. He was like two drops of water reminiscent of actor Tom Hardy, who plays the anarchist Bane in The Dark Knight.

But the bullets were real. The blood shed was not fake. The dead did not rise. The claustrophobia of the cinema hall added to the panic. Some rushed to the exit, others tried to escape by sliding from their seats to the floor. Time seemed to speed up its pace. It went on for minutes, even for seconds. The first SOS calls to 911 were recorded at 12. 39 am (or night?), and at 12.45 am-night the killer was already captured by the police when he ran to his car, intending to leave the scene of the crime. He didn’t resist. His machine gun either jammed, or the store was already empty.

The police arrived at the multiplex, which turned into a living hell, after 90 seconds. The ambulances began to drive up in two and a half minutes. But even such a record response turned out to be belated. 12 people were killed and another 58 were injured. In terms of the total number of victims, this is an All-American record.

– It was total chaos. There were screams all around. People fell next to me. Everything was like a nightmare,” said Jamie Rohrs, who, along with his fiancee, who was holding a four-month-old son in her arms, came to see how Batman saves humanity.

The killer’s hair was dyed red. When his gas mask was torn off, he managed to joke:

“I’m the Joker,” he said, grinning wryly.

The Red-Haired Joker is the main villain that Batman fought in previous episodes.

The killer, who was captured by the police from a white Hyundai, turned out to be 24-year-old James Holmes. He graduated summa cum laude from the University of California, Riverside with a bachelor’s degree in neurology. At the time of the crime, Holmes was continuing his PhD studies at the University of Colorado Denver.

The crime was premeditated. The killer had been preparing for it for a long time and carefully. He bought weapons and uniforms two or three months before the Auror massacre. Legally in Denver stores. (In addition, the police found another Glock pistol in Holmes’ car.) On legal grounds, he bought cartridges on the Internet. But that’s not all. Holmes mined his one-room apartment and, leaving “on business”, launched music from the player at full power. The killer’s calculation is that the neighbors, who have just gone to bed, will not be able to endure the musical cacophony and will begin to break on the door of his apartment. A secret wire will work, and the whole building will explode. Fortunately, this did not happen.

It is said that lightning does not strike twice in the same place. But mass murderers are not lightning. Among the dead was 25-year-old student Jessica Gavey, who dreamed of becoming a sports reporter. She was a fan of Batman and therefore went to the movie premiere. The assassin’s bullets hit her in the head. Her last message on Twitter read: “The movie starts in twenty minutes.” Then came her recollection of the June 2 shopping mall shooting in Toronto. Then seven people were killed. “It’s hard for me to understand what saved me in the whirlwind of these murders,” Jessica said on her deathbed Twitter. A few minutes later, her life was cut short…

Serial killers are not lightning… The tragedy in Aurora occurred just twenty miles from Columbine, where in 1999, two heavily armed schoolchildren shot 12 students and one teacher on the territory of the local high school, and then committed suicide.

Then all of America was indignant. The psychological shock of the killing of schoolchildren by schoolchildren was so strong that supporters of the prohibition of the sale and possession of firearms became optimistic that we would finally break through the wall of cowardly legislators, hypnotized by the influence and dollars of the American Rifle Association (ARA), the main lobbyist for the gun business, the business of death . But it was not there. The dead schoolchildren were buried, mourned and buried, and life again flowed along the old bloody rut.

Before Columbine, there were assassinations of President Kennedy, then Senator Robert Kennedy, Martin Luther King, Malcolm X. Miraculously, President Reagan survived. After Columbine, there were bloody massacres at Virginia Tech and assassinations by Jared Lee Lochner, who targeted Congresswoman Gabriella Giffords. And every time America exclaimed: “Well, this is too much! Enough!”.

Now, after the bloody Aurora that rose over Colorado, we don’t even hear that “enough!”. One of the fighters against the murder business, however, with the inappropriate surname Tom Mauser, exclaims with despair in his voice: “Is it really our destiny to drag ourselves from one tragedy to another ?!” After the tragedy in Columbine, the state legislators did not even flinch. Then gun control supporters held a referendum. The majority demanded to “plug up all the holes in the laws” that allow the gun lobby and business to flourish. And again, nothing, except for the law prohibiting the carrying of weapons on the territory of … kindergartens! Is this not a mockery of the people’s will? (Tom Mouser’s son was killed during the Columbine Massacre. And Congresswoman Caroline McCarthy’s husband—a voice crying in the Capitol—was shot dead in a railroad car on Long Island.)

They say you can’t get used to it. Oh. Now everything depends on the arithmetic of corpses. Now all of America is making noise about Aurora. Have you heard anything recently about the shooting in Tuscaloosa? Of course not. And there, by the way, a maniac opened fire in a beer bar and wounded seventeen people. But since none of them died, the tragedy did not get into the press and on television. And without the media, there was no fact. But in life he was. Last week.

You have not heard that recently the US Congress refused to pass a law banning the sale of machine guns capable of firing one hundred shots without reloading. Congress has stripped the Attorney General of the United States from issuing executive orders to ban the sale of weapons to individuals who are suspected of… terrorism! Where to next.

In the United States, the entire society sits on a powder keg. That is why it is called a society of violence. According to the latest Gallup poll, 45% of Americans own a gun. Its total number reaches almost 400 million. This is for a country with a population of 312 million people.

The sad truth is that not only the ARA, not only the legislators, but also the so-called ordinary or average Americans are guilty of this. The statistical “man from the street” is also guilty. Here is what the same Gallup Institute says about this: 55 percent of Americans versus 35 percent do not want tougher anti-gun laws. When asked “for” or “against” a law that would ban the production, sale and possession of automatic weapons?” 43 percent answered “for” and 53 percent “against.”

It is no coincidence that both Aurora and Columbine are in Colorado. This state is one of the main law enforcers in the fight against curbing the spread of firearms. After all, Holmes acquired his deadly arsenal and cartridges for it on legal under the Colorado constitution. “This guy was ok with his gun,” says UCLA constitutional law expert Eugene Volokh indifferently. It’s been 13 years since the Columbine massacre, but the Colorado bug laws still prevent the administration from restricting gun rights. Colorado residents are allowed to carry a gun in a vehicle, even a loaded one, as long as it is intended to protect a person or property. But who is the judge of this? How can I install it? With a permit, a Colorado resident can store weapons not only in the car, but also with him. Getting such a permit in Denver is a waste of time. Information forms and questionnaires are published on the Internet. Permit fee is $152. The site “sternly” warns: “Do not come with a weapon when you bring a completed application. It’s only later.”

Denver law professor David Kopel says he doesn’t see any positive developments. “Violence with the use of a weapon will not result in the outlawing of these weapons or even their restriction,” says this legal scholar. He points to the failure of anti-gun organizations to use the wounding of US Congressman Giffor and the murder of a Negro youth, Trayvon Martin, as a means of pressure on lawmakers. “Our legislation is not interested in raising this issue again,” he said. The aforementioned Volokh agrees with him. Well, the representative of the arms lobby of the state of Colorado, “the mountainous and proud state”, Luke O’Dell believes that putting a muzzle on his cronies would be a “tragic consequence” of what happened in Aurora. So, the real tragedy for these heavily armed, so to speak, gentlemen, is not the massacre in Aurora, but measures against its repetition.

These, if I may say so, gentlemen have a very curious logic. O’Dell says that the owners of the multiplex are responsible for the tragedy in Aurora, forbidding entry to the cinema with weapons. Without such a ban, O’Dell philosophizes, someone would come to a movie night with a machine gun, a shotgun or a pistol and kill a serial killer. And what if more people died in such a shootout? But this is not the main thing. The main thing is that O’Dell and the American Rifle Association, in fact, promote the laws of the jungle, although asphalt, and the Wild West, preach lynching when the law becomes a victim of “revolving law”.

Philosophers say that chance is one of the manifestations of necessity. It so happened that the massacre in Aurora took place at the premiere of the third and final film trilogy about the adventures of Batman. The pathos of this whole movie trinity lies in the fact that the law and the authorities are not able to protect the inhabitants of the fantastic city of Gotham, in which New York is easily guessed, and therefore Batman, a noble hero who acts according to his own laws, takes on the mission of their protector. These are terrible laws, but they are “justified” by the fact that “the night is darkest just before dawn,” as Batman says. He is both night and dawn for America, and those who want dawn must suffer in Batman’s darkness. Batman is essentially alone. The people did not elect him. He trusted him blindly. In the blind night Batman and villain and hero; both destroyer and creator; both an extreme individualist and a defender of the people. That is, the struggle between good and evil takes place already in Batman himself, and only after the victory of good in him does it grapple with external evil. Actually, Batman is an urbanized film comic of the “lone ranger” who saves a town in the Wild West from gangsters, since the local government is cowardly, weak, and corrupt. The director of The Dark Knight Nolan gradually leads the viewer to the tragic terrorist attack 9/eleven. The terrorist act revealed the insolvency of the authorities, but, on the other hand, served as a justification for the adoption of draconian measures, including torture. Power has become Batman in real life, just as Batman has replaced power in the movies. Both Power and Batman found themselves between the Scylla and Charybdis of evil, becoming, in essence, the incarnation of both. If Gotham New York hadn’t become an arena of lawlessness, there wouldn’t be a need for Batman. The gun lobby loves this tale. “We arm ourselves, for the law is not able to protect us,” his credo says. But arms dealers “forget” that they are the ones who undermine the foundations of a civilized society, giving rise to Batman on the screen and Holmes in the cinema, which has become a symbol of the whole country.

The tragedy in Aurora miraculously overlapped with the presidential battles in the United States, during which both Democrat Barack Obama and Republican Mitt Romney claim to be Batman, who is called to save America from all the misfortunes that have befallen it.

Both Obama and Romney made a noble gesture – they both decided to stop the election campaign for one day. Instead of mutual reproach, they together expressed sympathy to the relatives of the killed and injured. But neither Barack Obama nor Mitt Romney even hinted that their “great country” is sagging under the weight of weapons that are illegal only in the sense that they are above the law, unaccountable to him. This circumstance was sharply noticed by New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg. In his radio address, he said: “Perhaps the time has come when two men who want to become President of the United States will finally decide to stand up and tell us what they intend to do about it.”

But America won’t wait for that. In any case, until the end of the presidential elections and elections to the US Congress and governors. Politicians of all stripes fear the gun lobby. Any initiative in the field of gun control can cost them a place in the White House, on the Capitol, in governor’s residences. The case is still limited to scholastic disputes over the second amendment to the US Constitution, which is referred to by supporters of carrying and buying weapons as a measure of “self-defense”. But this amendment interprets something else – the right of society, and not of an individual, to form a militia for self-defense. This is what the Founding Fathers of the American State had in mind when they passed the Second Amendment. However, I do not want to get involved in this academic dispute here either.

Barack Obama, when he was elected president, said he would restore the ban on automatic weapons. However, he did not. Nevertheless, the gun lobby paints President Obama as “an enemy of the Second Amendment” in its “gun interpretation”… massacre in the 16th Century multisplash (why not the Early Middle Ages?), but the beautiful goddess of the dawn? Not the bloody hands of the maniac Holmes, but the “pink fingers of the goddess Aurora” sung by Homer?

Feedback from the parents of our preschoolers

I would like to thank our teacher Vera Vladimirovna (Vasilki). We’ve only been going for a month and I really don’t know what to compare it to), but I want to share my impressions! The teacher is very responsive, always helps, prompts! I keep asking about my son, she always knows everything and remembers about every child! He ate, drank, how he slept, what he did, like a pot, with whom he played, etc. (I’m such a meticulous mother, although we don’t have so few children in the group. I can’t even imagine how to keep track of them all🤔 (I would put monuments to all educators in general), I always take the child clean, dressed, well-groomed, well-fed, combed, without bruises and scratches (although I still have that fidget!) And treated kindly like a mother)! I would like to advise one thing, of course, that there should be some kind of medical control in the morning (many children come with snot and cough, we have recently been treated and it is so scary to lead a child to coughing children. I understand that it depends more on mothers and this is inevitable, but I don’t want to be treated in a vicious circle either. Well, I’ll sum up my review🤗 For such money everything suits me perfectly! And Vera Vladimirovna and our nanny, a separate HUGE THANK YOU!!!! (well, for conscientious work, you can sometimes give a bonus to such educators for an incentive) Thank you all so much that I work quietly, and my son learns more and more new and independent things in this life!0005

Inna Kaigorodova

I would like to thank the teacher Vera Vladimirovna “Vasilki” and the nanny (unfortunately, I do not know her name) We have been going to the group since June 1. The child says only good things about the kindergarten at home, about the teacher and the nanny too. The group has grown tremendously. It is impossible to imagine how they cope with this pack of kids. No matter what you ask about the child, everyone will tell you. Patience to them in such a difficult matter!

Nadezhda Sarantseva

My son attended a kindergarten until they took him to the municipal one. Here they take absolutely kids, from 1. 5 years old. They taught me how to eat with a spoon and how to dress. To be polite. The son liked the teacher Maria Anatolyevna Smirnova. Still remembers)

All 4 Kids Children’s Consignment Sales

Who can consign their items and become a seller?

Anyone can consign their children’s item with All 4 Kids.

What percentage of my items can I expect to sell?

Most sellers sell approximately 75% of their items in sizes 2-10.  For sizes under 24 months the percentage drops due to the sheer volume of merchandise received.  People also tend to receive infant clothing as gifts, hand me downs etc.  The older sizes also will sell a lower percentage as children become pickier as they near the pre-teen years.

What percentage of the sales do I receive?

Sellers receive 65% of their sales!  There is also a 10.00 selling fee that is collected at the time of registration. Sellers receive up to 80% by joining the Kids Crew, PLUS they get paid for their time!

Do I have to sort through the racks to find my unsold items?

No, when you pick up your unsold items, your items will already be sorted into your Master ID# for easy pickup.

When do I pick up my unsold items?

Unsold items are to be picked up on the Saturday of the sale closing between 6pm-7pm.  See seller link for exact times.  All items not picked up at that time will automatically be donated. We apologize, however no exceptions can be made to this policy.

How long does it take to receive my earnings?

All 4 Kids uses direct deposit for our sellers so there are no lost checks and no waiting! Funds are sent within 24 hours of sale closing and are deposited into your account within 1 to 4 days depending upon your bank.

Where do I find safety pins/coat hangers?

Many dry cleaners will give you a modest amount for free or at a reduced price.  Try sending a Facebook message or post on your local Freecycle website.   Old Navy, $1 stores,  Walmart. We love ordering THESE hangers, they are only .$10 each!

Will I know what items have sold?

Yes!  Every seller can print a report online that lists which items have sold, been donated or are ready for pickup on Saturday.  Sellers can also view their sales online each evening.

If I consign my items, do I have to stay during the sale?

No.  Consignors drop off their items and come back on Saturday evening to pick up their unsold items.

How many items can I bring into sell?

Each sellers may sell 375 of their own items in only 1 event per season regardless of whose name they sell those items under in subsequent sales. If you have over 375 items to consign, please send us an email thru the Contact Us link for options. Consignors may not go over the 375 limit by signing up for a second consignor number using relatives names etc. Thanks for your understanding!

What kind of hangers can I use?

We prefer wire hangers for size 5 and older. (no pant, clip or premee hangers please). We love to order THESE from a Dry Cleaning store – they are only $.10 each!

What color cardstock can I use?

Any solid, light colored cardstock.  The darker colors will not scan.

Can my seller fee be refunded?

If you cancel your seller spot, or do not dropoff, the $10 seller fee is nonrefundable and cannot be transferred to a different sale.

Can I write on my tags?

You cannot make any hand-written or typed changes to the tags. All information is in the barcode and must match the online inventory. If you need to change the price or 1/2 off designation, you must edit the item online and re-print a new tag.  Items with handwriting in those fields will be removed from the sales floor.

Is there a minimum?

Sellers need to bring 30 tagged items to qualify to shop the presale. If registered as a seller, and do not dropoff for 2 seasons, they will not be asked back to sell with us.

Who can shop the Presale?

The Pre-sale days are open to individuals who are shopping for their families’ personal use. Businesses, day-cares, schools & re-sellers are not able to shop the presale, but are welcome on the Public sale days. Our event is community-based, run by local families, and we want to make sure that everyone working, selling and participating in the event get equal chance at all the merchandise.

Can I lose my seller spot?

Sellers are required to keep an average sell-through of at-lease 50% and have less than 5% items pulled. The normal average for our sellers is 70+% for sell-through and less than 3% pulled items. If a seller drops below these milestones, they will not be able to sell with us in the future.

Can I use a Tagging Gun?

No, we do not accept items with tags attached with tagging guns. Tags must be affixed with safety pins (we prefer #2). Straight pins are not permitted.

When will my items go half price?

Friday night. A few years ago we added the extra VIP sale for 50% off items on Friday evening after we closed. The info is listed in the seller agreement when you register. Since we added an extra full-price shopping day, we found it really helps sellers make more money!

Being on the side of the child: what does it mean?

It has become commonplace to believe that parents should always be on the side of their child. But under this “to be on his side” everyone understands something of their own. What if the child is clearly wrong? And to be on his side means to indulge in everything? Why is it so hard to get on his side? These and many other questions are answered by the child psychologist Ilya Suslov.

When should you side with a child?

Situations when parents need to take the side of the child and support him are as follows:

1. External conflict

Something happened – at school, in kindergarten, in the yard, in transport. And strangers make claims to the child: he fought, deceived, stole, was rude, broke, soiled, violated … and so on and so forth. It is not yet about how these claims are justified. The first thing that a sane parent should understand in such situations is that he and his child are one team, and you need to get out of this situation together, at the same time. Even if mom or dad understands that the child is objectively wrong and guilty, it is still better to take the position of a lawyer in relation to him, and not an accuser. Then, at home, during the “debriefing”, it is possible and necessary to explain to the child what he is wrong about, but here and now, at the time of presentation of claims by other people, he must be protected in front of them, reflecting their discontent.

I don’t use the comparison with a lawyer for red words, it is really very accurate. A lawyer defends his client even in the event of his unconditional guilt, including when committing serious crimes, and protection does not consist in “excusing” him from a just punishment, but in protecting him from aggression of third parties and, possibly, unfair punishment. , excessive punishment – as well as punishment for an offense in which guilt has not been proven.

In the same way, in the event of an external conflict, parents should be protectors of their child, that is, they should protect him from everything that his accusers are ready to do with him on emotions. The lawyer, on the other hand, does not interfere with either the investigation or the trial, but strives to ensure that the investigation is carried out objectively and impartially, that the court is guided by the law and humanity, and not by any other considerations. So parents, standing up for the child, seek a humane, reasonable and fair analysis of the situation.

That is, in this case, being on the side of the child means letting him know that his parents are with him, that they love and protect him, that they care about him, that they will not leave him alone with offenders or accusers and will not allow him to him injustice. “No matter what happens, we are one team, we are together, we will protect our own” – this is the thought we broadcast to the child in such situations.

2. Conflict between the child and the parent

This situation is more complicated, because, it would seem, how to take the child’s side if your child quarrels with you? How can you be on his side here?

First of all, you need to understand that, no matter how disgusting forms your conflict takes, it is still your child, you unconditionally love him and unconditionally wish him well. And to stand on his side just means to act for the good out of love for him. That is, one should strive not to satisfy one’s ambitions, not to insist on one’s own at any cost or to “crush rebellion in the bud”, but to ensure that the child is well.

Photo: pxhere.com

And as soon as you realize this, you will immediately understand that the child is now ill. Because when it’s good, no one arranges quarrels and tantrums. This is the general rule: the child misbehaves because he is not well . And often he doesn’t even realize it.

What does it mean to “take the child’s side” in such a situation? First of all, you need to calmly carry on a conversation, the purpose of which is to understand the immediate causes and motives of the quarrel that happened and, if possible, get to the bottom of its underlying causes.

Most often the reasons are as follows:

  • The child simply does not understand some everyday things due to his inexperience. For example, he does not know that dishes should be washed with hot water, and vegetables with cold. Or he does not know how to use some household appliances, because of which he ruined something.
  • The child is not well. Either physically or psychologically. He has some problems that his parents do not yet know about or do not consider significant. Maybe it’s a quarrel with a close friend or a roommate, maybe it’s a conflict in the class, an unfair attitude of the teacher, maybe complexes about his appearance or low grades, because of which he worries much more than adults. And so the child snaps (thus releasing the accumulated tension).
  • Adolescence and all the delights puberty a. What is commonly referred to as “hormonal problems”. And this is a sharp, outwardly inexplicable change of mood, emotions going wild, resentment, rudeness, it would seem, out of the blue.
  • Real justified grievances against parents – that is, situations where the parents themselves gave a reason . And this is not uncommon either.

And there is only one way out: calmly, benevolently, without shouting, accusations and threats to discuss the situation with the child. And here the parental message is exactly the same as in the case of an external conflict: no matter how offended we are at times, we are together, we are a family, we are a team, and what unites us is much more important than what can separate us. .

3. There is no conflict at all, the child is fine.

This case seems paradoxical: why take the child’s side if there seems to be no problem? But such an approach, I am convinced, is deeply erroneous. Because if we are really a family, really one team, then we should be together not only when something bad happens, but also when something good happens.

To ignore this good thing, to take it neutrally, as something taken for granted and not requiring a reaction, is wrong.

And sometimes that’s exactly what happens. The child achieves some success in areas that are significant to him, but sometimes parents are not particularly interested in this, they do not notice, do not pay attention. Well, my daughter played Cinderella in a school play – so what? All the same, she will not become an actress! Here are English courses – yes, this is important! And the theatrical circle – well … for the general development, it is probably useful, let him go, but the topic is not a priority.

Meanwhile, it is extremely important for any child that parents take an interest in his life, rejoice in his achievements, and appreciate them. This, after all, also manifests parental love, and not only in kisses and gifts. A child at any age needs to understand that he is in demand, that his successes and failures are important to his parents.

And in this case, being on the child’s side just means that we should notice any successes, and not just those that seem significant to us for later life. The kid climbed into a puddle, measured its depth – and glows with happiness. It is necessary not to scold for getting dirty, but to evaluate the achievement (you can remind about accuracy later). A child assembled some kind of construction from Lego – praise, evaluate, ask what difficulties he encountered and how he overcame them. A child composed a poem of two lines – rejoice with him, and do not perceive it as useless nonsense.

Why parents don’t take the child’s side

Even knowing how important it is to support a child, people don’t always do it. And it used to happen even more often than it does now.

A very striking example can be seen in Nikolai Nosov’s early story “Cucumbers”, written almost a hundred years ago, in 1927 (by the way, it was filmed twice – both as a composite short story in the film “Dreamers” and as a cartoon). The boy Kotka took part in the theft of cucumbers from the collective farm field and happily brings the prey home, probably expecting praise. His correct, principled mother calls her son a thief and orders him to take the cucumbers back. Kotka cries, says that there is a watchman with a gun, he will shoot him. “And let him kill! Mom answers. It would be better for me to have no son at all than to have a son of a thief. – And he finishes: Either bring cucumbers, or completely leave the house, you are not my son!

But this was positioned as correct education! Now such ruthlessness of the mother seems to us savagery. However, such savagery was not only a hundred, but even thirty or forty years ago there was as much as you like. Parents were called to school and at home they punished the child, without even trying to figure out the situation, they unconditionally take the side of the teacher. The neighbor complained – and mom and dad instantly and 100% believe her, without the slightest doubt they arrange a trial for the child on the principle of a military tribunal and reprisal. Moreover, such a blind, thoughtless reaction to external claims was considered by many to be a direct fulfillment of their parental duties! And some people still think so.

Why do parents act the way they do?

There are several reasons.

1. Psychological characteristics of parents

Or rather, accentuations, that is, those character traits that have received excessive, hypertrophied development. For example, self-confidence, the desire for justice and self-affirmation by suppressing people who depend on them (children are ideal here), suspicion, irascibility.

2. False stereotypes

For example, that adults are always right, that children always lie and dodge, that children should not be indulged, they should not be praised, otherwise they will sit on their necks, that just as you can’t spoil porridge with butter, there can’t be too much severity, it’s better to overdo it, than to miss.

3. Elementary human pleasing.

Parents are simply afraid of spoiling relationships with people who are significant to them (grandparents and other relatives, teachers, caregivers, doctors, neighbors, colleagues, and so on), so they agree with them. And for themselves, this is explained by the fact that it will be better for the child, that if you do not stand in solidarity with his accusers, they will generally kill him from the world.

And here it is important to understand: we are not talking about some kind of monsters. All of the above to some extent inherent in each of us. Therefore, we should be attentive to ourselves, in time to notice those motivations that prevent us from taking the side of the child.

Being on the child’s side does not mean going along with it.

This is the main objection to being on the child’s side. And it cannot be said that it is completely unfounded. You can give any number of examples of blind, thoughtless parental love, when everything is allowed to a child, dust particles are blown off him, they consider him an angel, they unconditionally support him in all conflicts – and a monster grows up.

The mistake is that people equate different concepts. Yes, being on the side of the child means that one must strive for his good. But what exactly is the good? Who is to decide? A five-year-old toddler who considers it good to eat several servings of ice cream at a time? Or his mother, who considers it a blessing when her son does not have a sore throat? Here the answer is obvious.

Photo: pxhere.com

But much more difficult is the situation when the child is much older, when he has already formed a personality, when his own system of values has arisen, when there are already some kind of life plans. Is it possible to impose your understanding of the good on him, ignoring his opinion? Here I immediately recall the wonderful film Dead Poets Society, when the tough, authoritarian dad had already decided everything for his high school son: he should follow in his footsteps, become a lawyer, not an actor. The wishes of the boy are not taken into account. It ended with the suicide of his son.

Nevertheless, in most cases, it is quite clear what “going along” consists in the neglect of elementary safety, in thoughtlessness, in the inability or unwillingness to assess the consequences of the child’s actions. And the point here is not that the parent sincerely supports him that it is safe to ride a bike on the highway or that lessons can not be taught. The point here is to please the child here and now, so as not to cause his discontent and thereby avoid a quarrel. That is, in fact, this is an egoistic position, the desire to maintain one’s own spiritual comfort at any cost. Even at the cost of the real good of the child.

If we return to the already mentioned story of Nosov, then we will present alternative versions of the development of events. What would be expressed there “to go on about”? In the reaction of the mother, “well done, son, you did everything right, you are growing up as a breadwinner!”. And what should have been done in order to be on the side of the child, and not to follow his lead? “The cucumbers will have to be returned, we will go with you now, we will explain to the watchman that you simply didn’t think, you wanted to feed us, that you won’t do this again.” But the mother preferred to intimidate her son with threats. It’s easier than going to explain to the watchman!

The fact of the matter is that striving for the good of the child (which is what it means to be on his side) is not easy. You have to overcome yourself, not allowing yourself to either assert yourself at the expense of the child, or curry favor with strangers (again, at the expense of the child), or remain in the comfort zone (and again, at the expense of the child). No matter how trite it sounds, but parental love is sacrificial, selfless.

To be on the child’s side: how?

Need to support the child. But as? In what words and actions should this be expressed? This is especially important to understand in the most common case, that is, in an external conflict.

1. Turn off your emotions and calmly figure out what happened.

Communicating with the accusers should be polite, friendly, in no case devaluing their emotions. On the contrary, you need to say: “I understand your indignation”, “I can imagine myself in your place”, “if everything really happened like that, then it is very unpleasant”, and so on. But at the same time, try not to respond with aggression to emotionally charged words, calmly clarify all the circumstances of what happened. “Did you see it with your own eyes?”, “Who else was present?”, “And when exactly was it?”. It is very useful to clarify: “Do I understand you correctly that the matter was so-and-so?”

2. If in the end it turns out that the child is really to blame.

Then you need to say: yes, this is unacceptable, I understood everything, I will definitely figure it out. But do not specify: I will punish him, I will flog him. Especially if the child is present at this conversation (and most often it happens). You can (and should) express your bewilderment: I don’t understand how this could happen, how my child could do this. But all further conversations, proceedings are already a matter for the family, it is not necessary to dedicate accusers to these details.

3. Discuss what happened with the child at home.

And if in communication with outsiders you act like a lawyer, then in such a conversation you act more like a judge who hears different sides, evaluates their arguments and ultimately makes a decision. That is, you need to hear the version of the child. Even if he has already expressed it before, being present during a conversation with the accusers, it would still be better for him to repeat it at home, in a calm atmosphere, without that nervousness, without the presence of strangers. And here absolutely amazing things can be revealed that we, adults, simply would not have thought of.

Here are two real life examples. One boy described another in kindergarten, on a walk. Horror scandal! The teacher is outraged, the parents of the victim are outraged. And when parsing, it turns out that the boy proceeded from the best of intentions – he saw that his friend’s jacket was dirty, and decided to wash it in this way. For lack of water, he used his own jet. Children are four years old. This is not maliciousness, but, on the contrary, an attempt to do good. The child should have been told: well done for deciding to help a friend, but this is not how it is done, urine is completely unsuitable for this purpose.

Another example. Here is a teenage boy. The father was called to school because the son smoked an electronic cigarette in class. The case is obvious, a lot of witnesses, the teacher is outraged that the boy also dared to argue with him. In the conversation, it turns out that the boy read an article from some shaggy year, which talked about the safety of electronic cigarettes and that they can be smoked in public places. Read and believe. Here, too, it was necessary to explain why he was wrong (and not only because electronic cigarettes are harmful – also because this is a gross violation of the school charter, albeit unconsciously). But at the same time, I note that the behavior of the teenager was not demonstrative, the teacher mistakenly decided that this was a deliberately planned hooliganism.

An important point is the presumption of trust in the child’s words. Should it always be? At first, definitely yes. But if parents periodically catch the child in a lie, including in situations of external conflicts, then everything becomes more complicated. Children’s lies are a separate big topic, but in this case, it is most important to avoid two extremes. The first is to stop believing the child altogether, the second is to ignore the fact of lies and thereby allow oneself to be manipulated. In situations where it is impossible to check the child’s words, you should not tell him: you are all lying! Here you have to take his word for it. But if there is an opportunity to check, it should be done.

And most importantly: you need to realize that lying is a separate problem, perhaps much more serious than the external conflict in which it was revealed, and it must be addressed with precision. How exactly depends on the situation. You may need the help of a psychologist, but in any case, you need to start with an honest conversation. In this conversation (I remind you that this is not a one-time, but a regular lie), I must directly admit: my confidence in your words has decreased, your explanations seem strange to me, it just doesn’t happen that it’s the same thing every time, that from time to time everyone unfairly accuses you, and you always behave perfectly. Let’s see what is really happening, what is the reason?

And in any case, it is necessary to clearly state that even though the child is guilty (if he is really guilty), mom and dad still love him, they are together with him, together with him and solve the problem. That is, to outline a clear and executable plan of action: for example, to apologize to someone, to compensate someone for the damage. The most important thing is for the child to feel that he is not alone with his problems, he has a reliable rear – a family where he is always loved and protected.

A screaming problem: is it possible to keep an abandoned baby to yourself | Articles

A resident of Buryatia found someone else’s one-year-old child in his apartment – the day before he drank alcohol with unfamiliar people. The police have identified the baby’s parents, but have not yet been able to get in touch with the mother. “Izvestia” remembered other foundlings of recent years and found out from lawyers whether it is possible to keep a child abandoned by their parents.

Foster child

Unusual news came from Ulan-Ude – a local resident turned to the police, who found someone else’s child in his home. The boy appeared to be less than a year old. The applicant himself vaguely remembered the circumstances preceding the morning meeting with the baby. Shortly before this, the man abused alcohol and did not remember his drinking companions. On the same day, law enforcement officers identified the boy’s father and mother.

Photo: Global Look Press/Maca Vojtech Darvik

“It is known that yesterday the 43-year-old father of the baby returned late from work and did not find his wife and child at home. Thinking that she was with a friend, the man went to bed. In the morning, his wife called him and said that the police had taken the child away. At the moment, the whereabouts of the 32-year-old mother of a minor has not been established” , – the message of the regional department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs says. The woman was promised to bring to administrative responsibility under Art. 5.35 of the Code of Administrative Offenses of the Russian Federation. They clarified that the family is registered with the department for juvenile affairs, the mother of the child has repeatedly drawn up protocols for failure to fulfill parental duties.

The foundling was temporarily placed in an institution.

Last autumn in the Omsk region, a young mother threw her newborn daughter on the porch of the Sargat district hospital. Fortunately, the child did not have time to freeze. And in September 2020, a foundling was found at the gates of one of the temples in Kemerovo. The guard heard a squeak coming from the bag – there was a girl wrapped in a scarf inside.

You cannot give back

These social sketches remind not only the problem of child neglect, but also the difficult legal issue of transferring children to third parties for upbringing. The fact is that caring neighbors sometimes have the idea of participating in the fate of a baby from an asocial family or leaving a foundling with them. But the scenario described in the film “Children of Don Quixote”, where the protagonist took the children left by their mothers into his family, is hardly possible in real life. The person who finds the child has no right to keep it. The law obliges him to declare the find, says Margarita Kurashina, a member of the Russian Bar Association.

Photo: Global Look Press/DPA/Hendrik Schmidt

In practice, this sometimes happens when, contrary to the law, strangers take a strange or abandoned child into their family. In some cases, people even try to obtain state registration of the birth of a child who has reached the age of more than one year. In the absence of a document on the birth of a child, subsequent state registration occurs only by a court decision to establish the fact of birth.

Instructions for implementation

If a child is abandoned, the finder is obliged to report this within 48 hours to the internal affairs body or to the guardianship and guardianship authority at the place where the child was found, says Margarita Kurashina, a member of the Association of Lawyers of Russia.

“After the transfer of the child, he is placed in any of the following organizations: the body of internal affairs, the body of guardianship and guardianship, or a medical organization, an educational organization or a social service organization,” she explains.

According to the expert, the organization in which the child is placed must declare the state registration of the birth of the found child no later than seven days. Simultaneously with the application, they provide a document on the discovery of the child, which is issued by the guardianship and guardianship authority or the internal affairs body, as well as a document from a medical organization confirming the age and gender of the child. This is discussed in detail in Art. 19 of the Law “On acts of civil status”.

Photo: Global Look Press/Ulrich Niehoff

Most often, it is legal to take a child to raise a child if the parents are deprived of parental rights, and the child is removed from the family by the guardianship authorities.

– Only after the child is included in the primary bank of children left without care (maintained by the executive authority of the subject), a person can declare to the guardianship and guardianship authority about his intention to place the child with him until he is placed to a specialized organization for orphans and children left without care, – says Kurashina.

Compliance with legal procedures is important. The state exercises maximum supervision over children, suppresses all encroachments and infringements on their rights. They are also trying to protect them from parents who abuse their rights and violate the interests of the child, up to threats to life and health.

Receive, sign

Practice shows that some children of asocial parents are still raised by other people’s aunts and uncles or distant relatives, but with certain formalities. The law expressly prohibits arbitrarily taking someone else’s child for upbringing.

– Purely theoretically, if a parent is aware of where his son or daughter is, this is possible, – a lawyer, a member of the Public Council under the Commissioner for Children’s Rights, Stalin Gurevich, told Izvestia. — Yes, it happens that an alcoholic listens to common sense and allows his child to live with friends who take care of a minor. In this case, there can be no claims to an outsider.

The lawyer explains that such agreements are outside the law. She also stressed that in this case, the biological parents are not relieved of the duties assigned to them to raise a child. In addition, an informal agreement does not solve a number of problems that prevent the child from exercising his rights in full.

– In this case, those who take care of the child will not be able to place him in a kindergarten. There will be difficulties in providing medical services. Such an adult has no authority,” adds the lawyer.

Photo: Global Look Press/Jorge Gil

Some issues can be settled by issuing a power of attorney for the right to be a representative of the child, says the interlocutor of Izvestia.

– But do not confuse representatives and legal representative, these are different concepts. The legal representative can be either parents or guardians. That is, those people who, in the manner prescribed by law, received custody of the child, Gurevich notes.

If a caring adult in the neighborhood sees that a child is in danger, needs care that he cannot receive from his parents, then you should turn to the state for help.

– Having agreed with guardianship, a person can ask to transfer a minor to him under temporary guardianship. It often happens that parents are limited in their rights (without deprivation) and are provided with temporary guardianship to a person who has expressed a desire to take care of a minor. For example, you are neighbors, the child has known you for a long time. In this case, guardianship is formalized and the person becomes the official representative of the child for a certain time: first for six months, and later it may be possible to become a permanent guardian if the mother and father are deprived of parental rights, for example, the lawyer explained.

Abduction from nobility

It is illegal to go and pick up a child from a drinking neighbor on your own. Such actions can be regarded as child abduction. Such acts are punishable by law.

— This kind of charity is not worth doing. Mom and dad can sober up at some point and make a fuss that the child was stolen. For the person who took the baby, it will be an article,” she said.

It happens that a child is not given to a person who has become attached to him with his soul, and custody is transferred to other families according to a formal principle.

– This happens when some people in the guardianship authorities are not very conscientious about the transfer of children. But you need to understand that such an “auction” is typical for healthy babies when the parents are known and these are not antisocial couples. In other words, when it comes to a “guaranteed” child. As for the children of alcoholics, they, based on practice, are not much needed by anyone. Therefore, if there are people who really want to take care of the baby, give him a happy childhood, then the guardianship authorities, as a rule, do not interfere with this process, Gurevich said.

Photo: Global Look Press/Lawrence Lu

The fact that there are not so many people willing to raise a child from marginalized families was indirectly confirmed by a police source.

— In my practice, there was not a single case when the neighbors would have expressed a desire to take the child from the family of alcoholic neighbors to themselves. Yes, there are many complaints about asocial families, in statements the neighbors point out that the children of the marginalized are in terrible conditions.

Millionaire Jacob does not experience any emotions from life. Even the death of his mother does not touch him. Immediately after the funeral, he donates a huge amount to a charitable foundation, and the family estate of their family is put up for sale. After that, Jacob tries to commit suicide in various ways, but every time something prevents him.

One day he sees a man throwing a weak old man off a cliff. After he leaves, Jacob goes to the edge and finds a box with Elysium contacts on it. Interested in what happened before his eyes, Jacob goes to this firm. After a conversation with the manager, Jacob learns that this is a travel agency that provides unusual types of services.

Elysium works with clients who wish to go to another world. In the firm, you can choose different options for death. Jacob does not know what to choose, and eventually agrees to the “Surprise” option – he will continue to live a normal life and will not know when and how he will die. A little later, when choosing a coffin for himself, Jacob meets another client of the company, Anna, who also chooses a coffin for herself.

Jacob returns to his family estate and dismisses all the servants, including his keeper of the estate, Müller. Jacob then begins to wait to be killed. However, a few days pass and nothing happens. Then Anna calls him, saying that she is also waiting for death, but for some reason nothing happens to her either. Then Jacob calls Elysium, but there he is told to go about his daily business and wait.

Jakob finds Anna and invites her to go dancing with him. Anna is at first afraid that Jacob might be her “surprise”, but in the end she agrees anyway. As they communicate, Jacob and Anna realize that they have a lot in common. Soon Jacob invites Anna to his place. When they arrive at the family estate, Jacob’s lawyer asks him to urgently go with him to talk to the buyers of their estate. Anna stays to wait for Jacob, and then she meets Muller.

Müller tells Anna the whole story of Jakob’s family, including that Jakob became emotionless when his father went to sea on a ship and never returned. And Jacob’s mother, no matter how hard she tried, could not stir him up. Meanwhile, Jacob signs a sale agreement, but he has two days to change his mind. Jacob begins to think that he signed a contract with Elysium in vain, he fell in love with Anna and now wants to live. They, along with Anna, arrive at Elysium, Jacob goes to the manager and asks him to postpone his contract for a while, but he answers him that this is impossible. Right there, in the Elysium building, they try to kill Jacob. He manages to escape, after which he and Anna leave by car. They are chased, but they manage to escape.

Jakob tells Anna what happened. And she also thinks that it would be nice to postpone the contract. At night, Anna leaves the hotel room to get ice for Jacob’s bruised leg, but then the Elysium employees grab her and drag her outside. Here it turns out that Anna’s adoptive family is Elysium employees, and the manager is her adoptive father, it also turns out that Jacob is Anna’s client, and the father gives her time until the next morning to complete the work.

Early in the morning, Anna and Jakob go to Jakob’s hunting lodge to take refuge there. Anna has fallen in love with Jacob and doesn’t want to kill him. Jacob finds a gun and understands everything about Anna. He gets angry, but they eventually make up. Anna knows that the brothers are watching her and she fakes Jacob’s murder. Wraps his body in a sheet and goes to his father. On the way, seizing the moment, Jacob gets out of the car and goes to meet with the buyers to cancel the sale of the estate. But his lawyer wants to make money on him and does not cancel the deal.

As a result, Anna confesses to her family that she loves Jakob and will not kill him. The father agrees to take Jacob into the family, but then he must marry Anna, and also fulfill one order of their company. Jacob sues his lawyer and reclaims his estate. And his order turns out to be Muller. Jacob comes to Muller’s house and they start a conversation. Müller tells Jakob that he is glad that he has finally begun to feel.
