CCSD employees, directly and indirectly, influence our scholars every day with little to no intention on being recognized. In an effort to honor even the most humble, the district is rolling out a recognition campaign to highlight these individuals that serve as the backbone or structure that supports the mission of CCSD.

Arrested in New York subway shooting, 62-year-old Frank James has been charged with violating anti-terrorism laws and violently assaulting transportation infrastructure. Brooklyn Attorney Brion Peace made the announcement. nine0003

“Today in Brooklyn Federal Court, Frank James was charged with one count of violating a law that prohibits terrorist and other violent attacks on public transportation. If found guilty and convicted, he faces a sentence of up to life imprisonment,” the prosecutor said in a statement.
Peace made the same statement at a press conference in New York broadcast by ABC7. The prosecutor noted that James “crossed state lines to commit a crime and transported materials that contributed to the commission of a crime,” that is, firearms, across state lines. nine0003
adv.rbc.ru
In turn, New York City Police Commissioner Kichant Sewell said that the suspect was detained “recently on the streets of the city” at the signal of volunteers helping the police. Sewell noted that James has a long criminal history and is known to law enforcement agencies in Wisconsin, Ohio, Pennsylvania, New Jersey and New York City. The police are aware of nine arrests of James in 1992-1998 in New York and three in the state of New Jersey. At the same time, James is not listed in the FBI databases. nine0003
According to Sewell, the weapon that the attacker used in Brooklyn was purchased in 2011 in Ohio.
The police reported the arrest of a suspect in the subway shooting on the evening of 13 April. A black 62-year-old man is currently at a police station in the Manhattan area. The suspect was traced by analyzing data from his subway card linked to a credit card. A few hours after the attack, the suspect used the card at a subway station in Brooklyn, investigators believe that after the shooting he was able to move around in public transport for several hours, including during rush hour. nine0003
Shooting in the New York subway occurred around 08:30 local time (15:30 Moscow time), during rush hour, at the 36th Street station, 23 people were injured.
New York City Marathon 2022: video and results.
The results of the most massive and one of the most prestigious marathons in the world
(Photo © 2022 Getty Images)
0093 New York on Sunday, November 6th. It became the most massive (50,000 participants) and spectacular of all races at a distance of 42 km 195 m in the calendar year. In women, the debutant from Kenya Sharon Lokedi won a bright victory. In men, her compatriot Evans Chebet confirmed the status of the main favorite and repeated the achievement of Jeffrey Mutai – to win the two most difficult majors – Boston and New York within one season.
New York City Marathon 2022 Women
Shortly after the start on the Verrazano-Narrows Suspension Bridge, Desiree Linden from the USA accelerated. The Boston 2018 Major winner lost her lead a few kilometers later when a star trio of Gotit Gebreslasse of Ethiopia (World Championship gold 2022), Viola Jeptu (second place in New York a year ago) and a two-time marathon debut Olympic medalist at a distance of 5000 m Helen Obiri from Kenya. However, they also failed to stay in the lead for a long time – the group was caught up by Lorna Salpeter (bronze medalist of the World Championship) and Sharon Lokedi.
Obiri and the sister of two-time Olympic medalist Bernard Lagat Jeptu consistently fell behind in the hills of Central Park. Shortly thereafter, Salpeter accelerated – Lokedi and Gebreslase reacted to the maneuver of the athlete from Israel and gave chase. One and a half kilometers before the finish line, a 28-year-old debutante from Kenya unexpectedly took the first position. nine0003
And she did not miss a three-second advantage over Salpeter – the finish line fell 2 hours 23 minutes 23 seconds after the start of Sharon Lokedi. A fantastic scenario, because before her triumph in the Big Apple, the only achievement of an athlete living in the USA for seven years was a victory in the 10,000 m in the NCAA (college championship) in 2018.
42-year-old marathon legend Edna Kiplagat , who has won ten times in majors during her career.
New York City Marathon 2022 Men
South American record holder Daniel Do Nascimento after the signal of the starting pistol turned on the maximum speed and developed a crazy speed. The crazy Brazilian flew the first 10 km in 28 minutes 42 seconds – faster than the pace of the world record Eliud Kipchoge !
The solo run against the winds from the Hudson began to slowly take away strength from Du Nascimento – 61:22 at the equator of the distance. The Brazilian magic ended ten kilometers before the finish line: the body of the athlete could not stand the pace – convulsions, several attempts to return to the race and retire! At that moment, Evans Chebet, who had spread out the forces in a much more rational way, took the lead. Kenyan spent the first half of the race in the company of an Olympic silver medalist Abdi Nagueye from the Netherlands, and then rushed to catch up with Du Nascimenta.

We feel like family and wouldn’t have our children anywhere else. The manager and assistant manager are top notch. There is always an open door and great communication. I feel like my kids are safe and well taken care of. We highly recommend this center.

The teachers are so patient and caring, and have really made us feel part of the Sunshine House family. So happy my child can continue there for years to come, with the after-school program, and summer camps. Can’t imagine anyone else giving her such an enriching, and loving, early education experience.
Rachel Cobb
The Sunshine House is truly a great place! The teachers, including the ones who aren’t directly teaching my child, all know him and treat him wonderfully! He always comes home having a good day and I know he is in great hands while he is there!

Chevelle Artis and her husband have four children, ages 20 (twins), 17 (son), and 14 (daughter). Her journey working with children and families professionally began in 2011 stemming from her love for children and a strong desire and commitment to support their development.
Chevelle graduated from Pitt Community College in 2011 with an Associate Degree in Early Childhood Education and is currently attending Liberty University where she’s pursuing her BA in Early Childhood Education Interdisciplinary Studies, which will be completed following the Spring semester of 2022.
Chevelle spent several years teaching, training, and maintaining a score of 6 or above during the Infant & Toddlers Environmental Rating Scale (ITERS) and/or the Early Childhood Environmental Rating Scale (ECERS) assessments, which occur four times a year. She advanced in her career to the Center Director for Union Street Early Head Start Program with Richland County First Steps in July 2016. She and her team continued to improve the high-quality care and quality of the learning environment for children provided and became more hands on teachers. Later, she accepted a position as the Early Head Start Classroom Coach with RCFS in March of 2020.
Finally, as she enters into a new adventure with The Sunshine House Learning Academy, she’s expecting to deposit all the knowledge and experience she has gained over the years and is excited about all the new skills she will learn and the new relationships she feels blessed and honored to be gaining.
She extends a heartfelt thank you for entrusting her and the amazing team working with her here at The Sunshine House Early Learning Academy with your little ones. We do not take this responsibility lightly! She looks forward to working with you all.

Kindergarten from two months
Enter kindergarten two months after birth. In Magnitogorsk, they are preparing to open a group for babies. On the basis of existing preschool institutions, 20 places for children under one year old will appear. Only two kindergartens in the city will be able to accept babies – where there is a demand for such places confirmed by research. Is the queue long and how much will it cost for babies to stay in kindergarten – Elena Timofeeva found out.
These toys do not yet know children’s hands, no one has sat on these chairs yet. The entire staff of the 142nd kindergarten is watching with interest the progress of the renovation of the group for babies.
ELENA ZHURAVLEVA, MANAGER OF KINDERGARTEN № 142
There is everything that is necessary for children of this age.
The opening of groups for babies in Magnitogorsk kindergartens is a trend of the times and the decision of the city department of education. Two preschool institutions – 142nd and 93rd – were allocated funds for the conversion of existing groups into infant ones. In each of the kindergartens there will be 10 places for children older than 2 months, but less than a year old.
ALINA ZHAMANBAYEVA, KINDERGARTEN TEACHER No. 142
“This room is for children who have already woken up. Here is a crib, playpen.”
Four adults will look after the 10 babies. These are well-established acting kindergarten teachers. Alina Midakhatovna is one of them. She has been working in a nursery group for 12 years. And at the same time, she is a mother of twins, so she knows from her own experience how to deal with babies if there are more than one.
ALINA ZHAMANBAYEVA, KINDERGARTEN TEACHER No. 142
“It’s such an impression, it’s like going on maternity leave again, to be honest.”
In the coming days, Alina Midakhatovna and other teachers who will work in infant groups will have refresher courses. Their work will really resemble maternity leave. To make it convenient to walk with the kids, the kindergarten purchased two double strollers.
ELENA ZHURAVLEVA, KINDERGARTEN MANAGER No. 142
“Of course, they are chic. Very comfortable, easily transformable. It’s winter now.
In the group for babies – all the nuances of age are taken into account. And there is even a room for mothers – you can come and breastfeed your baby. At the same time, the cost of staying for infants in kindergarten will be the same as for everyone. The kids will have a special menu. In the kitchen of the 142nd kindergarten, a new wiping machine has already appeared.
NATALIA BARANOVA, KINDERGARTEN CHEF № 142
“Skip puree, vegetable, potato puree”.
Cottage cheese and yogurt for babies under one year old – cooks will order from the dairy kitchen. Six children have already been enrolled in the infant group of the 142nd kindergarten. The youngest is 8 months old. Now, together with their mothers, children undergo a medical examination. New toys, chairs and cribs will be introduced to the little ones on November 1st.
A month has passed since the opening of the new kindergarten on Novgorodsky Prospekt in Shushary
October 1, 2021
A month has passed on Novgorodsky Prospekt in Shushary. During this time, even very young residents of the Pushkinsky district managed to get to know the educators properly, found new friends and joined the rhythm of an exciting life.
“Of the 21 kindergartens that have been put into operation over the past decades, in my opinion, this one is the best in a number of ways. Exceptional project, wonderful infrastructure, wonderful design – the kindergarten is like a toy. There is everything necessary for the development and maintenance of children. The team has already been assembled, they are conducting developmental classes with children,” said Natalia Mikusheva, head of the education department of the administration of the Pushkinsky district of St. Petersburg.
The total area of the preschool institution is 10,000 square meters. The three-story building houses a swimming pool, a catering department, a medical department, a sports and music hall, 18 group rooms, general developmental and compensatory groups function.
“There are always shortcomings, but they can be solved. I emphasize that the head of the new kindergarten No. 49 holds meetings with parent groups, at which the most exciting issues are discussed, ways are outlined for creating a single team in which teachers, parents and children would be equal participants. There is every reason for optimism,” Natalya Mikusheva summed up in a conversation with journalists.
At the present time in the village of Shushary there is still a problem of shortage of places in kindergartens. However, the administration of the Pushkinsky district of St. Petersburg is taking all possible measures to gradually eliminate it. So, for example, parents were given the opportunity to take their children to kindergartens within walking distance, and not to take them to remote gardens in the cities of Pushkin and Pavlovsk. At the same time, the maximum number of children simultaneously staying in preschool institution No. 49 has not exceeded 400 since the opening.
“When I first came to this kindergarten, the artists painted the walls. It was amazing! I remember the first impressions and emotions of my child. For me, the inner world in kindergarten is very important. I was also very worried about what the teachers would be like. They are wonderful, very kind and sincere. Where did you meet the kindergarten, where there is a pool, and sand therapy, as well as physical education, music, and so on? – shared Irina Merkulenko, mother of a pupil of kindergarten No. 49in Shushary.
Irina also noted that she was looking forward to meeting the manager.
“Nadezhda Viktorovna took us through all the floors, we saw all the rooms. She took the time to each parent and showed where our children will study, ”she added.
According to another parent, Yulia Sarina, enough time has passed to assess the conditions in the kindergarten, to get acquainted with the management, teachers and give an honest, unbiased opinion.
“The garden is just wonderful! All conditions for comfortable and safe stay of children are created in our nursery group. There is a separate entrance with its own video intercom, a spacious dressing room, a bedroom, a lot of toys. It can be seen that the soul is invested in the kindergarten, ”she said.
The head of kindergarten No. 49 in Shushary emphasized that in the process of designing a preschool institution, every detail was thought out to the smallest detail.
“Everything was taken into account – from the color scheme of the walls and blocks to the entrance area, which is designed with navigation so that parents can quickly find their way to their group. Made brightly so that the child, coming to kindergarten, forgets about his worries. After all, the peculiarity of children’s attention is switchability, ”said Nadezhda Kolnaze.
Nadezhda Viktorovna added that additional purchases of equipment were made in kindergarten No. 49 – children’s lockers, tables, chairs and toys.

Parent Involvement Thank You Letter
Thank You Letter to Georgia’s Parents
By DR. JOHN BARGE
State School SuperintendentNovember is Parent Engagement Month in Georgia and schools all across the state are working to bring awareness to the role parents play in their children’s education. It is a time for all parents to consider how they can get more involved in the education of their children regardless of the grade level. Today, though, is a special day within the month that I believe most educators are eager to recognize. It’s National Parent Involvement Day.
When it comes to parent engagement, the research is clear, when schools, families, and communities support each other, students of all backgrounds and ability levels achieve at higher levels.
As the father of a teenage daughter in high school, I know how challenging it can be to stay engaged in the lives of your children. Life is demanding and there is almost never enough time to get everything done, but being involved in your child’s education is arguably the most important role a parent plays.
On National Parent Involvement Day, it is important that parents play their part in this partnership by reflecting on whether they are doing all they can to support their child. Anyone can be an involved parent by just showing up, but I challenge each parent to become more engaged in the process by asking the right questions, getting the facts, and getting more connected with their child’s education. To assist parent’s in the process, the Georgia Department of Education provides resources for parents and schools to encourage and maintain parent engagement.
One of the resources developed this year is a new parent engagement month calendar that provides specific ways parents can Get the facts…get connected…GET INVOLVED! While it was designed to be used in the month of November, parents will also find useful ways to engage in meaningful conversations and positive interactions with their child throughout the year.
To access an electronic copy of the calendar or to learn of other parent engagement resources provided by the Georgia Department of Education, please contact our Parent Engagement office at 404-656-2633 or visit our website athttp://public. doe.k12.ga.us/tss_title.aspx?PageReq=ParentEngagement.
On behalf of our schools and school systems, I want to thank all of the parents and families who have taken on the full-time job of being engaged in their child’s education. Throughout this month, I hope you have taken time to become more engaged in your child’s education, but please do not stop there. When November is over, continue with those engaging activities. With actively engaged parents and families, my vision of Making Education Work for All Georgians will become a reality!
Dr. John Barge, a parent and former school administrator, is Georgia’s State School Superintendent.

May 6, 2021Quotes About Life, Relationships, School & Work by Maria Victoria Gonzaga
Contents
Let’s start by looking at why and how we can say thank you. Then, we’ll apply it to teachers. Saying thank you to someone we believe deserves our praise and appreciation is a true show of compassion.
The two words — “thank you” – combine into one of the shortest, most powerful statements we can say. Receiving those words from a person we trust can instantly change a bad mood to bliss.
Saying those words with utmost sincerity can actually encourage the recipient to do the same act or behavior, an idyllic example of positive reinforcement. (1)
Some of us overestimate the awkwardness and underestimate the power of expressing gratitude. We can shy away, fearing giving thanks will be mistaken as asking for a favor in return. Don’t let these thoughts get in the way. There is no denying the benefits of saying thanks as long as the expression is sincere.
Research has shown that saying your thanks as a token of appreciation will make you feel better. It is good for your health, mood, and general well-being. (2) “If both parties are benefitting from this, I think that’s the type of action we should be pursuing more often in our everyday lives,” writes Amit Kumar, from University of Texas Austin’s McCombs School of Business.
Saying thanks to a teacher
Now, let’s get to teachers — your child’s “parents at school.” He or she deserves praise when doing a great job of teaching and caring for your child.
Giving a compliment is an easy way to show your gratitude. It reflects your approval as to how he or she is helping with your child’s learning. You aren’t seeking preferential treatment. Your note simply means you appreciate having someone you can entrust your child with at school.
A simple straightforward “thank you” note will do. Like these:
Thank You Note to Preschool Teacher from Parents
Support a preschool teacher with one of these thoughts and include them in your letter:
- “We, parents, may be accountants, scientists, doctors, and engineers – but nothing contributes to the nation’s development more than the sacrifices made by teachers. Thank you.”
- “The school may have found a teacher in you, but our child found a hero in you. Thanks. ”
- “Teachers should be called Fillers because they fill all the gaps and crevices in a child’s life. Thanks for making our child’s life rounded and complete.”
- “Your words are the sparks that light up our children’s futures. Thank you.”
- “For the world, you are one person, but for our children, you are the world! Thank you, teacher.”
- We know some times, your own children were deprived of your care and attention because you were busy attending to ours. We would like your children to know how awesome you are and implore them to be grateful to have such a person as you.
- I have you to thank for inspiring my child to come out of her shell. She loves you so dearly, and she seems to think that you are made of magic. Thank you for being so good and so patient with her. I’m so glad for teachers like you who really make a difference in a child’s life. God bless you more and keep up the wonderful work!

- “We might not be paid to teach our children the values of life, but your salaries are far too minuscule considering that your words will resonate inside our children’s minds for the rest of their lives. Thank you for taking good care of our child.”
- “Parents have got the easy job of raising our own kids. They are rewarded for all their sacrifices with the joy of watching their own blood grow up into fine young men and women. Teachers have tough jobs. Their rewards are limited to the hope that their wisdom will make a tiny difference in the lives of children, helping them to be better human beings. Thank you for all your selfless sacrifices.”
