The Ground Floor: Daycare grows in historic Cedar Rapids building
A new Cedar Rapids business is making good use of an historic space.
Little GEM Learning Center opened last fall in the old Iowa Highway Commission building on 16th Avenue SW. The building, which previously housed the Iowa Department of Transportation’s District 6 offices, is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
Owner Katie Meisterling feels fortunate to have her business be part of the building’s history.

Meisterling, who has a degree in elementary education and is completing a master’s degree, had worked in retail management for the first seven years after her graduation from Coe College. About three years ago, she decided to take the initial steps toward her long-term career goal of running a child care center.
‘I finally said to my husband that I don’t want to do retail anymore,’ she said. ‘We purchased a second home that I could devote to an in-home day care center to avoid the wear and tear on our home. ‘
A year and a half later, developer Steve Emerson, a family friend, approached Meisterling to see if she would be interested in opening a child care center in the old District 6 building, which he was planning to purchase.
‘He had a vision about how the building could be repurposed,’ Meisterling said. ‘It was scary for me because I had to make a lot of decisions quickly. But you don’t say no to an opportunity that’s your lifelong goal.’
So she agreed.
That was January 2016. The next several months brought many more decisions for Meisterling as she worked with contractors on the build-out. She had to design a child care facility that met Department of Human Services licensing requirements while maintaining the historical integrity of the building.

‘I had to make decisions on things I hadn’t really considered before, like toilet and sink height,’ she said.
While the building’s historic designation precluded structural changes, Meisterling found the building well suited to its new purpose. The 12 former offices became nine classrooms, a gross-motor skills room, a kitchen and a staff lounge. The configuration allows Meisterling to place younger children who are not yet of preschool age into rooms based on six-month age groups, beginning with zero to six months.
‘It’s pretty unique to divide that specifically, but it happened naturally because the architecture also is pretty unique,’ she said.
She said she also appreciates the building’s original features such as tile floors and iron railings because they give the building ‘the look of an old school.’
The building grounds include ample parking for staff and parents, and a large, shaded area for a playground.
Little GEM — GEM stands for growing, enriching and mentoring — opened on Sept. 12 with three classrooms while carpenters completed work on the other rooms. Less than a year letter, the center has grown into all nine classrooms with a staff of 22.

Faith pearls as a gospel for the hand
What are “faith pearls”? We asked Dr. Kirsten Faupel-Drevs to tell us a little more about them.
Dr. Kirsten Faupel-Drevs
Pastor of the Northern Church Evangelical Lutheran congregation Schiffbeck-Oijendorf
Specialist in spirituality in the Pearls of the Faith movement, professionally engaged in spiritual guidance of believers, spiritual exercises and therapy through painting, writer and freelance artist .
Faith Pearls is a bracelet designed for prayer. This bracelet was invented in Sweden by the Swedish Bishop Martin Lönnebo. However, I personally saw this bracelet in Finland. This was in 2002, and after that she brought it with her to northern Germany.
In 2003 we presented “Pearls of Faith” as a large project at the ecumenical Kirchentag in Berlin.
In Scandinavia these rosaries are called a little differently. Swedish for lifeline. However, in German, “lifeline” does not sound very nice, which is why we proposed a different name – “pearls of faith” or “pearls of life.”
Initially, this is the question that each of us asks: what can I hold on to in life and death? This was the question Bishop Martin Lönnbo asked himself. When he retired, he asked himself what book I could write for young people to get young people interested in the Church. At one time, Martin Luther tried, with the help of a small Catechism, to attract people not only to faith, but also to the ability to read, write, and in general to education. Lönnebo was looking for a way in which, in modern life, in modern times, he could convey the main content of the Christian faith to young people. He thought about it in Greece. He endlessly asked himself: “By what means can I communicate the faith to other people?” It was in Greece that he saw fishermen playing with Greek rosaries. Then he realized that in all religions people pray with the help of a rosary.
Indeed, in almost every religion we find such a rosary. They are in the Orthodox tradition, and in the tradition of Islam, and in Buddhism there are such rosaries.
Lönnobo asked what a rosary would look like that could correspond to our faith. Then he came up with a rosary of 18 pearls.
Each of the 18 pearls has its own name and its own meaning. The 12 pearls are dedicated to specific topics and follow the life of Jesus in their content. Between them are 6 pearls of silence, they remind us of unceasing prayer. I will list the names and order of the pearls. The golden, main pearl is the pearl of God. She is the largest and holds all the beads. God is the beginning, end and center of life.
To the right and left of the pearl of God are two pearls of silence. After the first pearl of silence, comes a small mother-of-pearl, which is called the pearl of I.
Then follows a large white pearl – the pearl of Baptism, followed by the pearl of silence again and the pearl of the Desert – it reminds us of difficult times in our lives, Jesus was 40 days and 40 nights in the desert. Only after that did he go to the people to teach, heal and preach about the approach of the Kingdom of God.
The next Pearl of Silence is followed by the Pearl of Tranquility. Then again a pearl of silence and two red pearls of love. One is love for God, the other is love for the neighbor. But you can say otherwise – one pearl is for me, the other is for you, this is when two people love.
Then there are three small pearls, which in their shape look like pearls of the Self, these are the three pearls of the Mystery. The first one is green. As you go through the pearls of the mystery, ask yourself: “What will grow in me? Who can I pray for? What do I care about?
The third pearl of Mystery is located with the black pearl of the Night. This black pearl reminds us of death, guilt, and the cross of Jesus. But she also talks just about the night when we sleep. Since after the night there always comes a new day, after the black pearl of Night there is the white pearl of Sunday. Then the pearls of silence come, and again I find myself at the golden pearl of God.
When we look at this rosary, we see both the life path of a man and the life path of Jesus. Both together are a sign of our faith. We can say that this is a kind of gospel for the hand. This is a small Catechism that you can touch. I can keep it. He is always with me. I am very glad that I can share what I know and what I can do with brothers and sisters from Russia.
Naalaahura Thila is one of the best dive sites in the area. Located in a channel, it is therefore subject to stronger currents. This, combined with its depth, makes this dive site for advanced divers only. The top of the reef is at a depth of 12 meters, and the bottom is about 30 meters.
This thila/peak is located in the south of Shaviyani atoll and due to the lack of tourism, with very few guest houses or resorts in the area, this site is best reached from living board.
This place of immersion is located on the island of Naalahuraaa and is usually performed in the form either from the east or from the west. The top of the reef starts at 5 meters and drops to 28 meters. Some beautiful overhangs can be found at around 15 meters and below where many fan corals can also be found.
Haru Gaa Thila is located 60 minutes southeast of Fairmont Maldives Sirru Fen Fushi. This Thila is a small hidden gem and a very beautiful dive site. The upper part of Thila starts at about 10 meters and descends on all sides for about 25-27 meters. A very good diving spot that is always worth a visit!
This beautiful Thila is located southeast of Fairmont Maldives Sirru Fen Fushi. The top of the reef is at a height of about 12 meters, dropping about 30 meters. On the southeast side of Thila you will find a beautiful canyon often filled with blue striped snappers.
Miyaru Thila is an excellent diving site located about 45 minutes south of Fairmont Maldives Sirru Fen Fushi. It is a seamount (Thila) with a reef top starting at about 10 meters and descending to 30 meters on all sides. You can find beautiful overhangs all over Thiel at various depths.
This Thila is located about 30 minutes south of Fairmont Maldives Sirru Fen Fushi. It starts in fairly shallow water at a height of about 5 meters, then gradually drops to 30+ meters on all sides. The dive usually takes place on the north side of Thila, where most of the action can be found, as well as some overhangs.
This dive site in the north of the Maldives is a peak starting at 16m with overhangs and canyons. Here you will enjoy great fish life and many colorful soft corals.
Medu Faru is located approximately 30 minutes south of Fairmont Maldives Sirru Fen Fushi. The reef is attached to the island and starts at a depth of about 2-3 meters.

The Union of Evangelical Christian Baptists of Azerbaijan (SEHBA) is a Protestant Christian organization in Azerbaijan that adheres to the Baptist faith. There are 25 local ECB communities in Azerbaijan that are members of SEKHBA and unite 3100 believers who consciously and consistently profess and practice their faith [1] (2009).

Persecution of Baptists
Baptists are regularly persecuted in Azerbaijan:
Illegal closure of a Christian summer camp for children, confiscation of Christian literature, police threats and physical assault (July 2009) [2] .
Illegal actions of police officers, as a result of which, on charges of illegal possession of weapons, the Baptist pastor Hamid Shabanov (Aliabad) was sentenced on February 11, 2009 by the court of Azerbaijan to 2 years of corrective labor [3] .
Baptist congregations have to endure bureaucratic delays in state registration. Zaur Balaev has been trying to register his community in Aliabad for 15 years. The Baptist community in the city of Neftkala, for state recognition, must provide a document – proof that the building, used since 1966, really belongs to the community. This document was submitted with a previous application but has been lost. Officials refused to issue a duplicate to replace the lost one. Church buildings taken from the Baptist congregations by the Soviet authorities were never returned. So, confiscated at 19In 1931, the building, which existed since 1911 in Baku as a House of Prayer, has not been returned to this day and is used as a cinema [1] (January 22, 2009).
In early May 2008, two Baptists lost their jobs just because of their faith. They were even openly told about it when they were fired without warning [4] (May 27, 2008).

Therefore, our doors are always open for those who want to share information, and of course for those who are eager to receive it. – today our graduates are participants, laureates and winners of various competitions and championships of various levels in all areas. And most importantly, these are good, leading masters of Beauty services. – in all salons and hairdressing salons, SPA centers and studios in Dnipro (as well as outside it, including abroad!) There are specialists trained in our training center. And this is not surprising, because we guarantee our graduates 100% employment. Many heads of beauty salons also studied with us!, and then opened their own business. After all, masters and leaders are not born, they become. For many graduates, the acquired professions have become non-core, but the skills acquired in the learning process bring them additional income today. – since 2006, the Serge and Natalie Training Center has been providing charitable services to vulnerable groups of the population. Specialists of the training center and students hold a huge number of charity events and promotions. We help: Society of the Disabled “VERTICAL” – we serve non-mobile disabled people at home; Territorial Center for Social Services of the District IDA – we serve veterans, pensioners and disabled people – wards of the Tercentre. Since 2016 we have been partners in the social project of Oleg Velichko “To meet people”, in which we jointly help: Mogilev geriatric boarding house; Orphanage of the family type DBST “Family of the Lyskins”, Novomoskovsk; Pridneprovsky geriatric boarding house; Dnepropetrovsk geriatric boarding house; Regional Organization of Veterans of War and Labor of the Andean Region; Dnepropetrovsk City Orphanage No. 1; Transit town for internally displaced persons from Donetsk, Luhansk and Crimea. – geographically, we are located in a convenient traffic intersection in the Dnieper on Slobozhansky Ave. (Pravda Ave.). Information about our activities and about us can be found in social networks or on the website. http://sn.biz.ua/en/homepage/; https://www.facebook.com/ We sincerely hope that this resource will help us find like-minded people. Many will come to us as clients, some of themselves will become members of our team. And with someone we will be connected by business and social partnership.

Discover the Draw of Writing on the Walls
Let your freehand break free with write-on wallpaper, dry-erase paint and other design inventions that celebrate the scribble
When I was little, one of the first household rules I absorbed was never, ever to write on the walls, a rule I broke as soon as I mastered printing in kindergarten. I can still remember the look on my mom’s face when she caught me stretched out next to the baseboards, blissfully busy with my crayons (though it helped my case that my scrawled message was “I love Mommy”).
Now we have chalkboard paint and other special surfaces to circumvent the problem. But there’s no reason to limit them to kids’ spaces — writing on the walls adds a fun, fresh, personal note to grown-up rooms as well.
What do you think of the treatments below? Give us your feedback in the Comments.
We’ve sung the praises of chalkboard paint before, and it’s still going strong as an interior wall treatment. Use it to cover an accent wall, then inscribe a message that suits the space or your mood. This cheery note plays off the happy hues in the room. For fun, use a chalk color that complements your decor.
Anastasia Faiella Interior Design
Chalkboard paint isn’t the only way to get a hand-scrawled effect. The scene on the walls of this edgy bathroom was layered over regular black paint — a viable alternative if erasability isn’t so important.

If you prefer something on the brighter side, try dry-erase paint instead. Here it’s used as a kitchen backsplash, handy for jotting recipes, grocery lists and reminders on. Alternatively, you could mount a sheet of glass over fabric, paint or wallpaper and buy markers or grease pencils designed to write on it.
Your Favorite Room By Cathy Zaeske
For a streamlined alternative to the usual door-mounted message board, just slather dry-erase paint right onto the door panels.

This mural, done with a Sharpie, elevates writing on the wall to an art form. If your sketching skills are rusty, you could project an image onto the surface and trace over it.

A modern classic, Graham & Brown’s Frames wallpaper provides you with a blank canvas — or hundreds — to fill as you see fit. Scribble notes, post photos or color fanciful pictures as inspiration strikes. Although the paper is just right for kids’ rooms, you could also hang it in a guest bathroom and invite visitors to add their own contribution.
Holly Marder
This custom hand-drawn wallpaper has the inviting look of a coloring book that hasn’t yet been filled in. Wouldn’t it be fun for a home office or a playroom?
Jennifer Smith Designs
A sweet message to accompany a group of family photos radiates joy and warmth. Stencils keep lines straight and letters uniform, but if you have pretty handwriting (or know someone who does), going freehand makes it truly personal.
Why confine your scribbling to the walls? Coat a tabletop, a desktop or another flat surface with chalkboard paint or a solid color, then embellish to your heart’s content.
Removable Chalkboard Wallies
If you’re not ready to commit to a full chalkboard wall, try these removable panels instead. Group them together to create a calendar like this one, or mount them gallery style and draw a work of art on each one.
Let’s Stick Together Faux Bois Chalk by Something’s Hiding in Here
A cool chalkboard wall treatment deserves chic chalk to go along with it. These faux bois versions are pretty enough to be a decorative element in their own right.
Bamboo Dry Erase
A bamboo dry-erase board has more texture and nuance than plain white.

If you love the hand-drawn look but lack the time or inclination to do it yourself, go the next best route with this delightful doodle-filled wallpaper.

Interior graffiti: simple ideas for effective decoration
Letters and graffiti in the interior can be a wonderful home decoration. They make beautiful design accents. In addition, they carry an interesting, funny or philosophical message. For example, the words in the hallway “Welcome!” or “Come in, wonderful people live here” will immediately set the guests in a positive mood. And a poster in the living room with the words “We were born to be real, not perfect” will make you think about simple worldly wisdom. The sign on the door of the nursery “Caution! The room is a terrible mess” will bring a smile to even the most serious visitors.
Usually the graffiti on the walls tells what is important for the owners of the house

Letters and inscriptions in the interior for motivation and design
Interior calligraphy and interior letters are a real Klondike for designers, especially in Western countries. It was they who came up with the fashion for text room decor. There are millions of ideas to beautifully enter the phrase in any interior. Words and sentences can be added using textile, wooden, paper, foam plastic volumetric letters. They are very easy to make yourself or order from the masters. Motivational texts are quite easy to change at least every day. To do this, you need a little – buy a slate board with crayons. By the way, such boards are often covered with a magnetic layer on which letters can be attached.
There are no clear rules in writing phrases – it all depends on imagination and taste
Famous phrase on the wall in the living room
Vinyl stickers will help to put the text on the walls. They stick to the surface without any problems. Taking them off is as easy as putting them on. If desired, you can zone a part of the room using ordinary wallpaper, on which letters are applied. There is an even simpler option – paint the plastered wall, and then write wishes, mottos, names with special markers or use acrylic paint.
Vinyl stickers can be custom made to size and color

Stencils of the alphabet, winged expressions, numbers are easy to find on the Internet and print using a regular printer. Pillows on which letters are printed or curtains that duplicate sayings on the walls can connect the text design in the interior with the decor of the room. Not bad cope with this task decorative souvenirs in the form of Cyrillic or Latin.

Letters, numbers and motivators in a residential interior
Letters, quotes, phrases are appropriate in almost any room of the house. Only the theme and style for each room should be different. Office inscriptions are set to work and career goals. In children’s numbers, the letters of the native and foreign languages are bright, cheerful, but at the same time they perform one important function – they teach. They will help the kid to fall in love with learning from an early age. In the kitchen, the alphabet and numbers will also come in handy. With their help, you can designate jars with different cereals or make a wall clock face. Another idea is to hang up a board with a cooking joke that says: “Applause for the chef!”. In the bedroom, textiles with a chaotic written print will look great.

Letters in the interior of the living room
There are many decor options for the living room. But most often, the owners prefer to play with their initials in the interior of the guest room. They can be made from wood or sewn from scraps of fabric. They are easy to make from plywood, paint, then attach to the wall. Another idea looks stylish – one motivator or a wise statement is chosen for the room, which becomes the main focus of the room design. The simple phrase “Our home is where our soul is” can turn into the main semantic content of the living room. If these words are printed on a carpet, curtains, pillows, then a stylish logical connection will appear in the interior.
A world map from inscriptions is suitable for a loft-style living room

Wooden letters
By the way, inscriptions in the interior in English, German and other languages are often used for decoration. Living rooms of small rooms can be zoned using text signs. To do this, the reading area is highlighted with calmer wallpaper, decorated with shelves and the word BOOKS or BOOKS. And the part where guests will be received is brighter, with hospitable texts “Welcome” or “Welcome”, “Be our guest” or “Be our guests”.

Letters for decorating an office
Ascetic style always reigns in the office. Nothing should distract from work. On the contrary, every detail in the interior creates a working atmosphere. The sayings of famous people are most appropriate here. They can be printed and framed. Optimistic motivators will also help, such as: “To become successful, believe in success.” If the office is a creative workshop, then here you can give free rein to your imagination.
Eclectic home office
Creative Personality Desk
An unusual idea is to order a locker in a carpentry workshop, where each shelf is carved in the form of a letter of the Latin alphabet or Cyrillic. Such a creative idea has a practical side – the locker will become an excellent organizer for papers, which are easily laid out in alphabetical order. Unusual furniture in the form of numbers or a font will help to express the creative atmosphere.

Interior letters and inscriptions in the kitchen
The kitchen is the perfect place for this kind of design. Texts can be printed on tiles, and then made into an apron over the kitchen table and sink. Very often in the kitchen interior began to use slate boards. With their help, it is convenient to write down a recipe for a dish or leave a note to your loved ones. There is even kitchen furniture, the facade of which is made of slate board. Each locker is signed in chalk. Now there should be no more confusion with his appointment.

Decorative cutting board
The walls will be decorated with thematic inscriptions in frames. An idea for spice lovers – share the meaning of your favorite spices using the text: “Sage is power. Parsley – peace. Mint – hospitality. Rosemary – fidelity. Thyme – courage. Marjoram – happiness. Such a plate will be a great addition to the interior, especially if it is made in a vintage style using the decoupage technique.

Letters and numbers in the interior of a children’s room
Text design has the greatest practical value for a child’s room. It’s so interesting – to put colored felt letters into words, to learn the rules of mathematics with the help of soft numbers. And after the lesson, all this cheerful alphabet easily turns into pillows or other decorative elements. Volumetric letters or numbers can become anything in the nursery: a high chair, a bed, a thought, a favorite toy.

Textile square puffs look good. Velcro straps are sewn to each side. Then a set of fabric letters and numbers is made, to which the second part of the Velcro is attached. Then pouffes-cubes can be put into words or solve mathematical problems. Handmade parents can easily make an interactive rug for their children. It will not only decorate the kids’ room, but also help to learn the world of the alphabet and mathematics. Magnetic boards, slate easels with colored crayons or markers will cope with the same task.

Decorative letters in the bedroom
In the bedroom it is better to maintain a calm color scheme. Modern design is increasingly using a black and white palette. It goes well with graphic design. Against such a contrasting background, the text becomes clearer and more embossed. Motivational statements will also be appropriate in the bedroom. The expression of such a plan will give a charge of vivacity for the whole day: “It doesn’t matter how you feel. Get up, smile, go ahead and never give up! If you do not need motivators, then you can paste over the area above the headboard with wallpaper with text inserts. It would be nice to repeat the print on a floor lamp, pouffe, bedspread.
A beautiful typeface is a great graphic decoration in itself
Inscriptions above the head of the bed of the spouses
Watches or decorative shelves in the form of the initials of the owners’ names look original. A lamp in the form of the word “Happiness” or “Happiness” will complement the design.

Letters and numbers in the interior: various options for making and using
You can make interior letters and numbers from anything. There are many options for creating alphabet decor. You can create it yourself in different ways:
Cut out of cardboard and wrap with colored thread.
Sew from felt, cotton or cloth.
Order wooden (plywood) letters from the carpenter.
Cut out of metal in a special workshop.
Knit or sew pillows in the form of letters and numbers.
Interior letters made of felt
You can simply paint the wall in the color you like and make an inspirational lettering with dark paint through the stencil
One of the simplest options is to fix A4 sheets with phrases written in beautiful handwriting on the wall
Chalk writing on slate can be changed at will
In addition to the usual placement of texts on the wall, there are many other design ideas. For example, you can decorate the wall of any room by “scattering” three-dimensional letters of different sizes and fonts over it in a chaotic mess. Get a creative panel. But here it is important not to overdo it with the number of colors – there should be no more than three or four. Inscriptions in the interior help guests navigate in someone else’s house. For example, the words “Here we take off our shoes” will tell you where it is better to take off your shoes. And the question on the wall “Are you hungry?” (“Are you hungry?”) will indicate the direction to the kitchen. There is a sea of ideas for implementation, the main thing is to put your soul and all your creative potential into them.
If you have a jigsaw and want to do carpentry, the letters can be cut out of thick plywood, sanded and painted

Many graffiti can be seen not on real walls, but on images of walls. In 1644, the Dutch artist Pieter Jans Sanredam captured the Protestantly austere interior of the Buurkerk church in Utrecht. In the lower right corner, a young man is training a dog, and his friend is writing something on a whitewashed wall. Nearby, someone (he?) drew a long horse, like a dachshund, on which four people in crowns sit. This is an episode from a medieval chivalric novel about the four sons of Duke Aemon. One of them quarreled with the nephew of Charlemagne and killed him. And now they are fleeing on the magical horse Bayar. Below, under the riders, Sanredam drew his signature. Not only in the Middle Ages, but also in the early modern times, the walls of churches in different parts of Europe were covered with many inscriptions and drawings: from prayer appeals to higher powers to magical signs and “caricatures”.
The idea of a graffiti signature embedded inside the depicted space has long lived in Dutch art. On the famous “Portrait of the Arnolfini couple” (1434), in the depths of the room, on the wall, the signature of its creator is displayed in Gothic type: “Jan van Eyck was here. ” This formula, apparently, in addition indicated that the artist was a witness to the marriage that is depicted in the picture. However, with van Eyck, this technique still retains a touch of artificiality – neither the portrait painters nor the witnesses wrote on the walls of the living quarters. Sanredam’s autograph is disguised so that it is almost indistinguishable from real graffiti. In another picture, where he depicted the nave and choirs of the Utrecht Mariakerk church, his signature is also displayed on the wall – next to the figure of a venerable lady holding a swaddled child in her arms. And on the image of the old city hall of Amsterdam, he put his name and date on the visor that hangs over the shops attached to the “city hall”.
Presenting his signature as graffiti or as a sign, the artist seems to wink at the viewer. He shows how indefinite the boundary between the world he created and reality, the picture as an image and the picture as a commodity, which is certified by the name of the author.

School of Radiation Diagnostics held a seminar “CT and MRI of the knee joint”
The School of Radiation Diagnostics hosted another seminar from the cycle of musculoskeletal radiology, dedicated to the knee joint.
This was perhaps the most successful event in terms of recruitment speed. Three days after the announcement, we had to close registration and schedule a second course for June for those who did not have time to register for this one, but would like to improve their knowledge of CT and MRI of the knee joint.
The urgency of this topic, in general, is not surprising: the end of winter, the height of the ski season, frosts alternate with thaws, which is invariably accompanied by black ice – the flow of patients with knee joint injuries is growing every day. And it is all the more pleasant to see doctors who, at the same time, find time for study in order to make diagnostic care for such patients better and more professional. It is gratifying that this time there were many students from the regions, we are sincerely glad for such interest in our School.
Traumatologists were traditionally present at the seminar together with specialists in radiodiagnostics. It was they who opened the event: Musa Maisigov, an orthopedic traumatologist, candidate of medical sciences, gave a lecture on the clinical diagnosis of knee joint injuries, in which he spoke about the most common injuries, their mechanisms, treatment tactics and typical complications. Then Irina Murashina, MRI/CT radiologist, Candidate of Medical Sciences, reminded her colleagues of the MRI anatomy of the knee joint and gave guidance on how to assess this area, in what sequence it is more convenient to do it so as not to miss anything.
A lot of time that day was devoted to the analysis of clinical cases. Indeed, the speakers have accumulated a lot of them, and from recent practice. And the more valuable was the presence of traumatologists, with whom the listeners were able to discuss the full cycle of patient admission – from complaints and symptoms, through diagnosis to treatment and subsequent management.
Head of the School of Radiology Irina Trofimenko gave a lecture to her colleagues about artifacts and ways to minimize them, as well as recommended sequences for examining the knee joint. She was also presented with a report on MRI in non-traumatic injuries of the knee joint.
Mikhail Sinitsky read a report on postoperative visualization of the knee joint. Clinical diagnostics and methods of treatment of diseases of the knee joint were analyzed together with an orthopedist-traumatologist, surgeon, candidate of medical sciences Alexei Afanasiev.
Traditionally, the second half of the day of our courses is occupied by practical work – the analysis of clinical cases.
I am offering an in home daycare setting for 1 or 2 additional children. I already have 3 children of my own (ages 2, 6, and 9). We live in a nice house in the Bon Air area. We have a large fenced in backyardwith a playground. I have a bachelor’s degree in psychology from VCU. I am also currently licensed through the Virginia Board of Counseling as a Qualified Mental Health Professional for Children (QMHP-C). I have spent the last 8 years working with children and teens profoundly impacted with autism spectrum disorders. I have 4 years experience working as an in home counselor to families with special needs children facing various challenges and implementing behavior plans. I have an additional 4 years working in a classroom setting employed as a teaching assistant at the Faison Center for Autism. I previously worked in a classroom with students diagnosed with autism displaying varying levels of challenging behaviors who are unable to attend public school and needed more one on one support. I had immensely enjoyed working in this field while helping families and children in this population achieve goals and grow in so many countless ways. I was however torn because working full time outside of my home with 3 small children for so many years was very difficult and I am now grateful to have found more balance between my professional life and family life by pursuing my passion for education and helping families and children grow while also being able to spend more time with my own family. I have countless years of experience as both an educator, mentor, and of course child advocate, not to mention parent to my own 3 children. I am also very well acquainted in helping students academically as well if needed. I am comfortable caring for children of all or any age and am fortunate enough to still have toys for older kids and also lots of baby equipment for use. We do circle/group time daily where we read, sing, and learn about various different topics and concepts. We are planning to do virtual homeschooling for the duration of this next school year due to health concerns. I am certainly open to helping families with children who are also pursuing this route long term. We cannot care for children where any direct family member is attending public school or a large daycare center as I have an autoimmune disorder and my daughter also has a disability that effects her immune system functioning. Any other questions please feel free to ask!…

There aren’t enough stars for Lisa. You will not find a more loving, conscientious, consistent care provider for your little ones. She gives babies and toddlers exactly what they most need: love and structure. She has a memory like a steel trap, and knows each of her charge’s loveys, nap times, ever-changing list of little rashes and boo-boos, upcoming doctor’s appointments, and favorite snacks. My children would not have had any kind of coherent schedule as babies if it weren’t for Lisa. She is a lifesaver. And the cherry on top, my kids adore her. Do yourself a favor and stop looking for a childcare provider – you’ve found her….

Cricket hunter wasps are dull black, about 3/4 inch long and move with a rapid twitching motion.
Liris beatus (Hymenoptera: Sphecidae) is an unusual wasp that occasionally becomes a pest in Texas homes. Known as the cricket-hunter wasp because of its habit of catching and feeding crickets to its offspring, these wasps are common outdoor insects.
Identification
Cricket-hunter wasps are ½ – 5/8 inches long, dull black in coloration, with grey or dusky-colored wings. They spend much of their time searching for crickets, which they attempt to sting, capture, and transport live to their nest. After a cricket victim has been subdued and carried to suitable shelter, the female lays on it a single egg. After hatching, the larva begins feeding immediately on its paralyzed cricket prey. One cricket probably provides enough food for a single wasp to develop.
Damage
Cricket-hunter wasps can be found actively climbing up and down walls of bathrooms and other living areas. They can appear indoors year-round, but are most common in late summer, fall, and during warm spells in the winter. Infestations can be persistent and annoying. Though not normally aggressive, when prompted these insects can occasionally sting.
So what are these wasps doing in homes? In nature, female cricket-hunter wasps establish nest sites in holes in the ground, such as rodent burrows. In urban areas, where natural nesting sites are rare, these wasps take advantage of man-made cavities in the walls of buildings. Good sites include weep holes in brick facings or other openings in walls or under house foundations. A single female may deposit several crickets, each with egg, in a nest site. In addition, other female wasps may share the same site, building cricket stashes up into the hundreds or possibly thousands.
When the cricket hunter larva matures, a process that may take several weeks or months, they pupate and wait for suitable conditions to occur to emerge as an adult. When conditions are favorable, the adult wasps will emerge and attempt to exit from the nest area. If nests are located in walls, or under the foundation of a home, some wasps may emerge indoors through gaps around windows, air vents, or similar wall openings.
Because many crickets may be provisioned within a wall void in the manner described above, dozens or hundreds of wasps may emerge into a home, giving the false impression that a large colony, like a bee’s nest, is present in a walll or attic.
Control
It’s difficult to prevent adult cricket-hunter wasps from emerging into living areas of a building once nesting sites have been established in a wall or under a foundation. If openings through which wasps enter living areas can be located, they should be sealed. Adult wasps can usually be safely killed with a fly swatter, or else captured and released outdoors to continue their cricket hunting activities.
The best solution for a cricket hunter wasp infestation is prevention. Start with a careful assessment of possible entry points outside the home or building. Seal any outside openings you find that might provide access to wall voids. Ventilation holes, such as weep holes, should be screened with 1/8th inch or finer mesh screen. Cracks and gaps should be sealed with expanding foam, mortar, or other appropriate material.
Besides openings in walls, look for areas of soil subsidence or sandy soil that shows evidence of burrows. Such areas should be filled with soil or fine gravel and, where appropriate, covered with landscape cloth or plastic and mulch to discourage further burrowing.
In cases of heavy wasp infestations, non-insulated wall voids may be treated with pesticide aerosols or dusts. Treatment of insulation-filled, exterior walls is not likely to be helpful. Sealing and caulking of all possible points of entry into the home is the preferable solution.
You can help
Little is yet known about cricket hunter wasps as indoor pests. If you are outside the Dallas-Fort Worth area and have wasp infestations fitting the description in this fact sheet, the author would be interested in obtaining samples of the offending insects and any observations about its behavior. Please consider leaving a comment in the box below, or contact Michael Merchant via email. Samples of the insects themselves, or good digital images are useful. Specimens should be preserved in ethyl or rubbing alcohol with the location and date collected. Your help is greatly appreciated.

Chlorion aerarium Patton 1879
Size
~25 mm
Identification
Ch. cyaneum (which co-occurs with Ch. aerarium in sAZ and sTX) can be distinguished as follows(1):
Male: face with silvery appressed pubescence (absent in C. aerarium, hairs dark)
Female: mesopleural surface ridged or wrinkled between punctures; pronotum and scutum with coarse, rather dense punctures, at least anteriorly (C. aerarium: mesopleural surface everywhere smooth between punctures; pronotum and scutum with fine, widely scattered punctures).
Range
transcontinental(2): so. Canada to Mexico
Habitat
Although generally not closely associated with humans, they are found wherever their hosts (Gryllus crickets) are found, which could include close proximity to homes (though not so much as Sceliphron and Chalybion). Chlorion is usually found in open areas such as meadows, overgrown fields, dunes, beach edges, etc., although they may not necessarily hunt in the same habitat as they nest. They are sometimes associated with the Cicada Killer where the ranges of these two wasps overlap, C. aerarium digging burrows off side of the larger wasps nest (O’Brien, 1989).
Life Cycle
Females with prey:
Remarks
Females mass-provision several serial cells, each containing from 2 to 9 nymphs or adults of Gryllus. Prey are dragged venter-up, with the wasp’s mandibles grasping the cricket’s antennae.

The topic of my report is cricket. Until recently, I confused the concepts of cricket and croquet, what can not be done, because they are completely different games. After reading a lot of literature, I understood the differences between cricket and croquet. I learned a lot of interesting facts about the history of the game and its features. And now I will try to tell you about it.
Residents of big cities enjoy spending time outside the city. Traditional occupations are hunting, fishing, sports. It is no coincidence that the names of many sports games are of English origin. Until now, there are many adherents of football, tennis, basketball, field hockey in the UK. Especially popular today are golf, horseback riding, horse polo and fox hunting.
Tennis is very popular. Wimbledon hosts annual national championships. The other two tournaments, the Davis Cup (international and men’s only) and the Whiteman Cup (women’s only from the US and UK) also attract large numbers of spectators.
International golf competitions include the Walker Cup (amateur) and the Ryder Cup (professional) between the United States and the United Kingdom. National tournaments include the British Open and the British Amateur.
The number of international athletics events is also on the rise thanks to the Olympic Games and records set by British runners.
The annual rowing competitions include, in addition to the meetings between the teams of Oxford and Cambridge, the Henley Regatta, which is an event of international importance.
Horse racing includes cross-country running (Derby) and steeplechase (steeple chase). Derbies are held annually at Newmarket Racecourse, which is owned by the Jockey Club. The club holds two types of races. Derby and Oaks are held at Epsom Downs; Saint Leger – in Doncaster; and Royal Ascot is at Ascot. The largest national steeple chases are held annually in Aintree, near Liverpool.
Dog racing became popular in 1926; there are currently 130 treadmills, which are visited annually by about 10 million Britons.
Car racing is also popular. Every year there are races for the British Grand Prix (Formula 1), the Tourist Trophy (sports cars) and 14 other motor races. The rallies organized by the drivers’ clubs take place more than 3,000 times a year.
All over the country every day there are always some competitions in the most diverse sports. The most famous – the traditional Boat Race of the universities of Oxford and Cambridge takes place in London on the river. Thames at the end of March, the Grand National Steeple Chase (the oldest and most prestigious equestrian event in the world) takes place in Aintree on the first Saturday of April, the national football championship reaches its climax at London’s Wembley Stadium (until 2001) in May, the most prestigious tennis competitions on the planet are held in Wimbledon at the end of June, the Royal Regatta starts in Heinley-on-Thames also in June, and at the end of July, a real extravaganza of yachting is held – Cowes Wick Week on the Isle of Wight.
Cricket is probably the most popular game (after football) in the UK. It is somewhat similar to a lapta, but there is no Russian recklessness in it. Something baseball … but without the American aggressiveness. Cricket is a 100% English sport. And not of the sort that hooligan football or rugby. It is much closer to tennis or golf, where the audience is restrained and equally grateful to all players, and where the friendly cry of Marat Safin – hey hey! causes indignation of the neighbors, as if they are all at least counts and princes, and the troublemaker is a commoner.
Cricket itself is very similar to its fans. The spectacle is measured and viscous, like honey. Sometimes watching a match makes you feel a strong feeling of being at a lecture of a grandfather-professor, monotonously reading his material for a good half a century. Information flows smoothly into your ears and presses some buttons in your brain. You, especially not wanting to sleep, suddenly begin to nod off, and then, unable to fight anymore, find yourself in the arms of Morpheus. A friend wakes you up, announcing the beginning of the break …
Origin
Cricket is a truly English game that originated in the 13th century. It is in English documents that the word “cricet” is first encountered. Its name comes from the Saxon word for stick. Presumably, from the word “cric” – the so-called shepherd’s stick, which was used to lock the gates of the pasture. Probably, the shepherds had fun playing ball with the help of this stick curved at the end while looking after the herds.
Cricket is believed to have evolved from the old games of stick and ball, bat and ball, and trap and ball.
The game originated in the south-east of Great Britain, on sheep pastures – there was low grass on which it was convenient to roll the ball (it was made of wool or rags). They defended the gate with a shepherd’s stick.
The first records of cricket date back to the year 1300: an account of spending by the royal court mentions an amount of 100 shillings and 6 pounds spent on “krieg” and other sports by Prince Edward.
If in the documents of the 15th century there are occasional mentions of boys playing “crackett”, then in the 16th century evidence of a passion for this game is more frequent. Oliver Cromwell is said to have played cricket in his youth.
This game flourished in the late 18th century. The beginning of this was laid by the team of the English village of Hambledon, who founded the Cricket Club in 1750. In 1787, the Marie-leBon Cricket Club (MCC) was created, which developed new rules a year later.
In 1900, cricket was even included in the list of the Olympic Games, but for many reasons – the unpopularity of this sport in many countries, the lack of competition – cricket was excluded.
The first Cricket World Cup held at 1912, failed. It was not possible to determine the winner among the three participants (Australia, England and South Africa) due to bad weather. The second World Cup took place only in 1975. Teams from England, Australia, New Zealand, the West Indies, India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka and East Africa competed for the first World Cup. Since then, this competition has been held every four years.
The British are incredibly reverent about cricket, not recognizing that this game could have been born in some other country. As baseball is played everywhere in the USA, so in England the rules of cricket are known from the cradle.
In addition to England, cricket is very common in India, Greece and Australia.
In Russia, cricket did not take root, although it is very similar to the old Russian game of bast shoes.
Basic rules of cricket.
The first set of rules for cricket is the “Code of 1744”, which specifies the official sizes of various cricket objects.
The rules of cricket at first glance are not particularly complicated, but if you play this sport professionally, you will have to study a weighty volume with all the nuances of the game.
The game is played between two teams of 11 players each. The goal of the game is to earn more points (runs) than the opposing team. A match consists of one or more parts, each of which is called an innings. In each inning, one team bats and the other pitches once.
Cricket is usually played on grass. The cricket field is an oval area (cricket field), oval in shape measuring 80 by 60-70 meters, inside of which is an earthen strip 20.12 meters (22 yards) long. At each end of a strip of land in the field, three posts are stuck, on top of which two small wooden crossbars are placed. (height 67.5 cm, width 20 cm).
This design is called a wicket. At each gate with bats in hand are the players of the batting team. A player on the serving team, called a bowler, throws the ball from near one of the wickets towards the other, trying to hit the wicket. The player of the kicking team (batsman), standing next to the gate, tries to protect it using a bat.
If the kicker hits the ball, he may run to the opposite wicket. The player standing at the other gate runs towards him, trying to take the place of the striker. Each such run earns a point for the batting team. The serving team tries to catch the ball and return it to one of the wickets. If the ball hit the wicket at the moment when at least one of the running players was between the wickets (behind the line), then this running player is out of the game, and another player of the kicking team takes his place. The batter is also out of the game if he fails to protect his wicket from the ball during the service or the ball is caught by a player of the kicking team after a player on the batter’s team has hit the ball or touched the ball with the bat before the ball hit the ground.
When 10 players on the batting team are eliminated, the inning ends and the teams switch sides. If both teams serve once, the inning ends. A multi-day match usually consists of one or two innings (usually 5 days are allotted for two innings). The team with the most runs at the end of the match is declared the winner. If the time allotted for the match expired before it had time to end, then a draw is declared.
Players
Each team consists of 11 players. A well-balanced team will have 4-5 bowlers (players who specialize in serves) and 5-6 batsmen (batsman) who specialize in batting. The most valuable players are the all-rounders – those who serve well and hit back well. Each team has one special player called the wicket-keeper. His task is to catch the pitched ball missed by the striker and try to hit the wicket with the ball if the striker was behind the line.
Match
Before the start of the match, the captains choose 11 players and determine by lot who serves first.
Overs
Each inning consists of a series of overs. A series consists of 6 innings served by the same bowler. The same bowler is not allowed to bowl two runs in a row. During one series, the bowler bowls from one side of the court. The next bowler is serving his series from the other side of the court.
Points
To earn one point for their team, both players of the attacking team must run to the other wicket and touch the ground behind the bat line or any part of the body. Sometimes a good hit on the ball allows the offensive team to score more points if the players manage to run from wicket to wicket more than once, while the players of the serving team are trying to return the ball and break the wicket. If the ball bounces (or rolls) out of bounds, the offensive team gets 4 points. If the ball at the same time flew out of the field without touching the ground, then the attacking team earns 6 points. Points can also be awarded in case of violations or incorrectly executed serves.
The first two players on the offensive team are usually the strongest hitters and score the most points.

The CRICKET II STANDART rifle is a compact PCP air rifle that is great for hunting. It is distinguished by high quality, shooting accuracy and comfort of use.
Designed for 5.5 mm bullets, of which 14 pieces can fit in the drum. Cocking is carried out by a side lever cocking, respectively, firing is carried out with single shots.
The barrel is produced by Ceska Zbrojovka, rifled, with a standard groove geometry. The barrel is equipped with a powerful sound moderator.
Several tens of shots can be fired from one filling of the receiver, and their power does not depend on the degree of its filling, since the rifle is equipped with a gearbox. It is located under the trunk. To control the pressure, it is equipped with a manometer, displayed on the end side of the container.
Good balance and compact dimensions were achieved through the use of a bullpup layout. The butt is as light as possible, made of plastic. The original design of the butt plate ensures tight contact with the shoulder. The butt is connected to the pistol grip with a jumper, which serves as an additional support for the hand.
The handle is made in a minimalist design, with an emphasis under the little finger. The original shape of the fore-end ensures the convenience of holding the weapon and creates a recognizable appearance of the weapon.
For optics, which are selected here according to the needs of the shooter, there is a weaver bar raised above the barrel.
The product is produced at the Czech factory, although the Cricket brand itself was originally a Russian development.
The model features an excellent gearbox setting, and sound moderator design, so the Cricket 2 rifle in in 5.5 caliber is quieter than the competition.
The design of the barrel mount, mounted on the front eight, thanks to this the product is protected from potential mechanical damage.
Cricket II bullpup tank holds 280 cc . air, while the working pressure of the product can reach up to 300 bar. At the same time, during transportation and storage, it is recommended to carry a model filled to a pressure of 150 – 200 atm, in which case the rifle gearbox will last much longer.
Muzzle velocity when fired from Cricket 2 Bullpup (5.5 mm) pneumatics can reach 300 m/s , depending on the weight and type of bullet.
The product is delivered to Russia in a weakened state, namely, the power of the product does not exceed 3 J. we monitor the pressure, and in fact the remaining air. To do this, there is a pressure gauge on the front of the Cricket’s air tube.
Modification 2 differs from the first Cricket bull-pup in in front of platoon . It is located on the right side of the rifle.
Another important factor is the presence of a magazine compartment built into the stock of the rifle. This compartment holds up to 4 magazines at the same time. The package includes two magazines for 14 bullets in caliber 5.5 mm. Additional stores can be purchased separately.
The stock is made of high-quality black plastic, thanks to which the life of the product is greatly increased in total.
Shoots the Cricket II rifle in single mode, i. e. for each subsequent shot, you must first distort the shutter. In addition, the model has a delayed shot, i.e. you can load the bullet, stop the drum scrolling mechanism and remove the drummer from the combat mode.
As with most PCP rifles, the rifle does not come with sights. To install optics or any open sight, the rifle is equipped with a Weaver rail, located in the form of a bridge from the front of the receiver to the eight on which the barrel rests.
Every parent wants their child to succeed and thrive in the world. Although there is no magic formula, parents want to feel they have done the best they can.
Here are the 10 best tips for parents of preschoolers, written by an early childhood educator.
How Can I Help My Child Succeed in School?
Success in school starts with laying a solid, balanced foundation from an early age.
There is no easy formula for parenting, but there are simple strategies you can follow that will benefit your children for a lifetime.
10 Tips for Parents of Preschoolers to Help Your Child Succeed In School
Here are 10 tips every parent should follow. These ideas are geared towards raising well-rounded children who are happy, confident, self-motivated and independent.
The more you follow these principles, the better chance your child will have of developing to his full potential and coping well at school.
1. Let Your Children Play
Play is the most underrated form of learning and the most important one.
Your child should be playing every single day.
The amount of learning that happens every time your children are in their natural state – engaging in free play – is massive.
Today’s lifestyle has become chaotic and school-age children have schedules that were unheard of in the past.
You may have them signed up for 3 excellent extra activities a day, but if that means there is no time for free play, you might want to rethink the afternoon routine.
2. Read Every Day
Reading to a child opens her world in so many ways.
I have always said there are two types of parents. Those who read to their childrenandthose who don’t.
Reading, apart from being the perfect time to bond, teaches vocabulary, problem solving, creativity, thinking skills, emotional maturity and so much more.
Just 5 to 10 minutes a day is all you need. It can be the perfect bedtime routine.
Whether you are reading to your 3-year-old or listening to your 8-year-old read to you, make sure to make the most of the time by using questions that encourage thinking.
3. Instil Independence
Independence is the number 1 quality any child needs to succeed in the world.
This may seem obvious, but it can be too easy to do too much for your child. Parents want to help and guide their children and be there for them every step of the way.
Sometimes being there just means watching from a distance.
What are some ways you can instil independence?
Allow your children and their friends to resolve most of their conflicts amongst themselves.
Understand that school is their territory. Drop them off and give them a confident goodbye kiss and “have a nice day”. There is no need to walk your Grade 1 in day after day to make sure they’re ok. It sends a subtle message that they are not safe without you.
Encourage doing some homework independently and packing their own bag every day.
Give chores from a very young age. Let your children develop responsibility at home by making a bed, taking cups to the sink and packing away toys.
If your child has a problem at school, discuss how to handle it the next time it happens and offer coping strategies. Resist reporting every incident to the teacher or your child will rely on you and not learn to take action. Serious concerns or repeated negative behaviour should be reported if it does not get resolved.
4. Build Grit
Watch this short TED Talk by Angela Lee Duckworth. It is all about her research in determining the best predictor of success.
And it is a little four-letter word called…
Grit!
In her words:
Grit is passion and perseverance for very long-term goals. Grit is having stamina. Grit is sticking with your future day-in-day-out, not just for the week, not just for the month, but for years. And working really hard to make that future a reality.
I just love it. Please take the time to watch it:
5
. Allow Your Child to Be an Individual
Every person is different and every person has different strengths, weaknesses, interests, passions, etc. Being allowed to be an individual is one of your child’s basic emotional needs.
School is an environment that tends to be quite focused on certain areas – academics, sports, etc. Some are changing and encouraging all forms of expression, including drama, music and the arts, to name a few.
School and the few years every person spends there is not the be-all-and-end-all of life. Let your children engage in the things they show passion for.
You might want to spend 10 extra minutes a day practising sight words with your struggling reader, but don’t forget to let him do his science experiments, or finish building his rocket or whatever else he is drawn to.
These are the things that he will probably gravitate towards in a career one day – and will provide the most value to him.
6. Allow Your Child to Experience Disappointment
The modern-day search for “happiness” has somehow led us to believe that our children’s every experience must be positive and children must never experience any unhappiness or distress.
Children must be allowed to experience their emotions fully, in order to learn how to cope with the many things they will go through.
Setting them up by removing all sources of stress will not help in any future situation where you are not there to manage it.
Happiness, excitement, sadness, frustration, anger, fear, contentment, relief, anticipation… Why would you want to remove any of these experiences? They are all part of life.
Being disappointed is not so serious. Children and adults are frequently disappointed. Not making it to the A team in tennis and feeling disappointed will disappear in time, and probably spur a desire to work harder and try again.
This is much less serious than not having the coping skills to deal with that disappointment and potentially having small disappointments escalate into huge sources of stress.
7. Understand Where Your Children Are Developmentally
I recently looked up some posts on Pinterest about reading and couldn’t believe how many people were interested in posts about teaching your child to read during preschool.
Everyone wants their children to do well and succeed. Pushing them to do things appropriate for older children is not the way to succeed.
For children to read, write and do maths, there is a long list of pre-reading, pre-writing and maths skills they need to master to lay the foundation first.
You probably can teach your 4-year-old to read, but only at the expense of many important foundational skills.
This is usually evident in the class when children who have been pushed too early start showing gaps later on.
Let your children be where they are. You don’t need to prepare your 4-year-old for Grade 1. You need to prepare your 4-year-old to be 4.
Otherwise, they are missing invaluable time that should be spent learning through play and not living life in the moment.
8. Make Your Children Accountable for Their Actions
It starts with a baby pushing a ball. If I tap the ball, it moves. This is called cause and effect.
Later on, it becomes, If I leave a mess on my bedroom floor, I will be expected to clean it up. Or If I hit my brother, there will be a consequence and I will have to apologize.
It’s an important life skill for children to be held accountable for their actions because adults will be held accountable. Adults who are unable to own their actions and always blame others are considered narcissists.
9. Put Things Into Perspective
Are you the parent who is up at 10 pm trying to figure out the last question in your child’s homework? Are you contacting all the class moms at 11 pm because your child will be in so much trouble if they leave out one question?
When you give up, do you write a letter to the teacher, followed by an email, explaining your frustration?
Relax. It’s only Grade 1. And you still have more than 10 years to get through.
Sometimes, school needs to be put into perspective. Sometimes you need to put the homework away when you are suffering through it at 11 pm because you had a family matter to attend to in the afternoon.
There is always tomorrow and you can’t do everything!
Did your child do badly on a spelling test? Life will go on.
Is your child repeating a grade because they need to mature and they’re a little behind? Trust me, they will forget about it long before the parents do. They will probably mature, make new friends and get on with life.
Sometimes, things just aren’t as serious as they feel in the moment.
You’re parents, not super-humans. Give yourselves a break!
10. Redefine Your Concept of Success
Lastly…
Is your idea of success when your child registers for one of the degrees on your approved list? Do you need them to get 90% in Maths to fulfil your dream for them?
Life is very different to how it was when I was young, or when my parents were young. Blogging was non-existent when I was at school and yet it is my career now. Many of the career options for your children do not even exist yet.
Success is a very fluid concept. As long as you do your best, your children are likely to become functional, competent adults. Then your job is done.
And with enough grit, they will worry about their own success!

Preschoolers: Tips for Supporting Learning at Home
During the coronavirus crisis, parents whose children usually attend preschools are now managing the enrichment and education of their young children at home. We know most parents can’t replicate a full day of preschool, along with all their other responsibilities. But here are some guidelines and principles to help you nurture your 3-5-year-old student at home in whatever time you have available.
Learning and development goals for children 3-5
The preschool years lay the foundations for the school-based learning to come. Goals during this time period include:
Fine motor skills — cutting safely with scissors, pencil grasp, coloring, letter/number formation
Self-regulation — listening attentively for longer periods of time, sitting still for longer periods of time
Social development — empathy, turn-taking, sharing, conflict resolution
Early academic skills — letter identification, letter-sound associations, number identification, counting, basic concepts (shapes, colors, textures), conventions of print
Activities of daily living/independence — putting on and taking off jacket, managing personal belongings
Creativity and imaginary play — using an object in novel ways, sharing imagination
Self-confidence as a learner
How 3-5-year-olds learn
Learning during this period takes place almost effortlessly as children interact with responsive caregivers, explore the environment around them, and play. The human brain was built to learn, and children at this age are strengthening neural connections as they use them.
The experiences and activities that you provide your child literally build their brain and increase their learning efficiency and capacity. Present your preschool student with a language-rich environment, a variety of sensory-rich stimulation, and allow them hands-on opportunities to explore basic concepts (such as shape, color and texture) and the environment.
What’s the parent’s role?
While preschoolers are capable of independent play for brief periods of time, parents will need to organize their child’s day, set up structured tasks, help with transitions between activities, and provide scaffolding and encouragement.
Create structure. Just like adults, children need predictability in their days. Moreover, consistency and routine help children to develop and learn. Through repetitive routines (for example, bath time) children learn about sequencing (what comes first, next, last), build vocabulary and concept knowledge (for instance, wet, slippery, faucet, drain), and develop autonomy (getting their own towel or cleaning up bath toys on their own).
Check in with teachers. If your child’s preschool teacher is available, it might be helpful to schedule some time to check in and discuss suggestions for specific activities. If your student receives additional services, try to touch base with providers to see if they can suggest ways you can help continue with treatment and maintain gains at home.
Talk to your child. Nearly any activity that a preschooler is engaged in provides an opportunity to talk, introducing new vocabulary as well as shapes, colors, size, and numbers. “Serve-and-return” interactions, or the back-and-forth, reciprocal verbal and non-verbal exchange that takes place between a child and their caregiver, also facilitate attachment and a sense of self.
Present projects. Projects, which can include coloring, building, sorting or sensory play (such as a water table or sand play) are great opportunities for your child to experience your undivided attention, which helps reinforce the sense that they matter. Commenting, reflecting upon and complimenting your child’s work gives them a sense of accomplishment and self-esteem, and praising your child’s effort helps with the development of grit.
Prompt unstructured play. Independent play is very important for fostering creativity, problem-solving and autonomy. Offer your preschool student a variety of art materials (crayons, markers, chalk, finger paints), building materials (blocks, Magna-Tiles, Legos) or imaginary play props and allow them to construct their own craft or play. If they run out of ideas or materials, offer a new material and see if they can shift on their own to a new way of playing.
How to structure the day
While it is not necessary (or realistic) during this COVID-19 crisis to create a strict, regimented schedule, having a general “outline” for the day will help alleviate stress for you and help your child feel secure. Some pointers for making a schedule:
Wake up at the same time, change from pajamas into “real clothes” (whatever that may mean for you) and eat breakfast at the normal time.
Alternate different types of play throughout the day.
Incorporate regular breaks into the schedule, which should include opportunities for exercise and free play.
Have dinner together as a family and use that time as an opportunity to discuss the day and problem-solve together.
Types of play that support learning in children 3-5
When considering how to fill your child’s day, it is helpful to consider the different types of play that help to support different areas of their development:
Constructive Play: blocks, Magna-Tiles, Legos, fort-building, coloring and crafts
Physical Play: running, skipping, hide and seek, Simon Says, freeze dance
Pretend Play: dress-up, dolls, kitchen, action figures, modified “charades” (for example, have your child act like an animal and you guess what they are)
Sensory Play: sand table, water play, finger painting, play dough, baking bread
Music Play: listening to music and nursery rhymes, playing musical instruments, singing
Under normal circumstances we recommend limiting screen time (the American Academy of Pediatrics and World Health Organization suggest no more than one hour for children ages 2-5, ideally co-viewed with a caregiver). During the COVID-19 crisis, screen time can be incorporated into a balanced activity diet and should be used strategically, such as when you need your child to have less of your attention (such as when you’re preparing dinner, working or helping a sibling with schoolwork). For a guide to online, accessible and free resources, check out the Child Mind Institute’s Family Resources for Remote Learning, which includes educational programming, suggestions for movement breaks, museum tours, story times and more.
How to build independence in preschoolers
During the preschool years, children begin to truly develop their sense of independence. This is immensely important for building confidence and a sense of self. Ways you can nurture budding independence while you are at home in the COVID-19 crisis include:
Structure the day. Just like adults, when children can anticipate their day, they are better equipped to take on responsibilities.
Start small. Before going outside, for example, your child may put on their own hat and get their shoes from the closet.
Let your child choose. Involve them in choices, like what to wear. This does not have to mean they have free rein. Provide 2-3 options, and then praise their great ability to make a choice!
Let your child help. Children love to help! When you allow your child to help, even if it takes you longer to get things done, you foster their confidence and give them an opportunity to learn something new.
Let your child solve problems. Allow your children to try things that are hard and to solve (small) problems on their own. Wait until they ask for help or assist only in getting them to the next step in a task. You can acknowledge that something is hard and let them know that you are proud by offering praise for trying something on their own, or for the first time.
Give your childchores. Simple tasks like picking up toys or putting laundry in the basket allow your child to have reasonable responsibility, and those tasks also help with maintaining routine and structure throughout the day.

kindergartens
About a hundred years ago, kindergartens were completely different. Actually, like the meaning of their existence. Then the leaders of “preschool institutions” had only one task – to help Soviet working women work fruitfully for the good of the country. Well, the children … And what about the children? In special institutions they will be fed, watered and put to bed. They don’t need anything else!
…Time has passed, people, manners, outlook on life have changed. Today, sending the baby to kindergarten, most parents expect that their offspring will not just be “looked after until the evening.” It is assumed that in a children’s institution the child will receive excellent socialization skills, develop his creative abilities, go in for sports, master basic knowledge of writing and counting, and even more – begin to learn a foreign language.
And by the way, all this is not fantasy – modern institutions of the 21st century provide all these opportunities. It’s just important to use them wisely. What does this mean? First, the responsible approach of parents to the educational process of their child outside the home. After all, the biggest mistake of moms and dads is the attitude to the children’s institution according to the old principle: “passed and forgot.” Alas, this principle has not worked for a long time. Today, in order for a child to grow up as a full-fledged, harmonious personality, close contact between the kindergarten and the baby’s family is important. Only in this union can truly high results be achieved.
What should parents do to make the 8 hours their offspring spends in the garden make the most of it? We addressed this question to the heads of Moscow kindergartens. And here are the answers we received.
1. Get interested
Zharikova Natalya Vladimirovna, Head of Kindergarten No. 525 in Moscow:
“Kindergarten and family are partners in the difficult task of raising a child. This means that the relationship between them must be a partner based on mutual assistance, benevolent criticism, understanding.Parents must be aware that it is not enough to bring the child to kindergarten in the morning and take it back in the evening – you need to be aware of the educational process that takes place while they are working at work. Moreover, it is not at all difficult to do this – be interested in all available information in a timely manner. It can be obtained not only directly from the lips of the staff, but also from other sources. For example, in our kindergarten there is a special “parents’ corner” where news and announcements are constantly updated. In addition, there is electronic site It is important to just look there from time to time, not considering that all these innovations are “for show”. Not at all, they are for the full and harmonious development of the younger generation. 0015
2. Take part other contacts of family members of the child and members of the teaching staff. Did you manage to establish good relationships? Everything will definitely work out! No? In this case, problems cannot be avoided. A logical question arises: how can we learn to hear each other and build good, kind relationships? The easiest way to do this is through negotiations, questions and answers, live, full-fledged communication, not limited by strict time frames. In the preschool institution, which I manage, it was for this purpose that the so-called meetings of the “Parents Academy” were created. There, moms and dads can calmly talk with educators, psychologists and the head about everything that they are interested in expressing their wishes.By the way, such events are held in many kindergartens. The main thing is to always find time and visit them along with holidays, matinees, quizzes. This is very important for our common cause!”
3. Use the experience
Yulia Borisovna Drobyshevskaya, Head of Kindergarten No. 504 in Moscow:
“The life of a little man in a kindergarten is not only games and fun activities. It is also a routine. The task of the parents – even when returning home, do not forget about it and try to maintain this regimen (nutrition, sleep, outdoor walks, sports, etc.) Someone may say: “Why is this necessary? It was not enough for the baby to live at home according to the schedule! “… And it will be wrong – life by the clock is literally necessary. After all, right now, from three to six years, a person is laying the basic skills and habits. So let them In addition, observing the norms adopted in kindergarten and at home, moms and dads help the child to constantly be “at ease”, without adjusting to new rules. And this means that the baby will have fewer tears and more strength and energy for useful activities, fun games, creativity, etc.”
In addition, there are a couple of recommendations for every family that has a kindergartener. For example, in the presence of a child, you should not express negativity about kindergarten. Let’s say, even if the teacher was not kind, share this information with loved ones at the moment when the baby is not around (undermining the authority of the teachers, it will be impossible to return it). Always show respect for all the information that the child brings from the garden (listening for 5-10 minutes about how the guys put on a play or looking at crafts is not difficult, but this is the only way you can let the child understand that you respect his activities). For a little man, this is very important.

– When passing a kindergarten, remind your child with joy how lucky he is – soon he will be able to go to kindergarten. Tell your family and friends in the presence of your baby about your joy, be proud of your child, because he is already big and will soon go to kindergarten.
– Tell your child in detail about the kindergarten routine: what, how and in what sequence he will do. The more detailed your story is and the more often you repeat it, the calmer and more confident your child will feel when he goes to the garden.
– Talk to your child about possible difficulties, whom he can turn to for help, how to do it. For example: “If you want to drink, go to the teacher and say:” I’m thirsty, “and Anna Nikolaevna will pour you water. If you want to go to the toilet, say so.” Do not create illusions in your child that everything will be done on demand and the way he wants. Explain to him that there will be many children in the group and sometimes he will have to wait for his turn. You should tell the baby: “The teacher will not be able to dress all the children at once, you will have to wait a little.” Try to play with your child in all these situations at home.
– Prepare a “happy box” with your child by putting cheap things in it. These can be small toys that remain attractive to your child and will certainly delight other children. These can be beautiful paper napkins or scraps of fabric that are pleasant to the touch, picture books, etc.
– Teach your child to get to know other children, to address us by name, to ask for toys and not to take them away, to offer their toys, their services to other children.
– Develop a simple system of parting signs of attention with your child, and it will be easier for him to let you go.
– Remember that it may take up to six months for a child to get used to kindergarten. Calculate your strengths, capabilities and plans. It is better if for this period the family will have the opportunity to adapt to the peculiarities of the adaptation of their baby.
– Convince yourself that your family needs a kindergarten right now. The child feels great when they doubt the expediency of gardening education. Any of your hesitations the child uses in order to resist parting with his parents. It is easier and faster to get used to children whose parents have no alternative to kindergarten.
– The faster the child will get used to it, the sooner they can build relationships with a large number of children and adults. Help the child with this. Get to know other parents and their children. Call other children in front of your child by their first names. Encourage your child to seek help and support from other people in your presence. The better your relationship with caregivers, with other parents and their children, the easier it will be for your child to get used to it.
– There are no perfect people, be indulgent and tolerant of others. Nevertheless, it is necessary to clarify the situation that worries you. Do it in a soft way or through caregivers.
– In the presence of the child, avoid critical remarks about the kindergarten and its staff. Never scare your child with kindergarten.
– Emotionally support your baby during the adjustment period. Now spend less time with him. Compensate for this with the quality of communication. Hug your child more often.
– If after a month your child is still not used to kindergarten, check the list of recommendations and try to follow the recommendations you forgot about.
To create comfortable conditions for a child’s stay in a preschool, it is necessary:
– at least two sets of change of clothes:
for boys – shorts, panties, socks;
for girls – tights, panties, socks;
– two bags for storing clean and used linen;
– before you take your child to kindergarten, check that their clothes are appropriate for the season and the air temperature.
A uniform is required to attend music and physical education classes.
Music class:
Girls – skirt, T-shirt, socks, shoes
Boys – shorts, T-shirt, socks, shoes
Physical education class:
Girls and boys – sports shorts, white T-shirts, socks, shoes.
Before taking your child to kindergarten, check that their outer clothing is appropriate for the season and the air temperature. Make sure that the clothes are not too big and do not hinder his movements. Ties and fasteners should be located so that the child can serve himself. Shoes should be light, warm, exactly fit the child’s foot, easy to put on and take off. A handkerchief is necessary for a child both indoors and on a walk.
To avoid injury, parents should check the contents of the pockets in the child’s clothes for dangerous items. It is strictly forbidden to bring sharp, cutting glass objects (scissors, knives, pins, nails, wire, mirrors, glass bottles), as well as small objects (beads, buttons, etc.), tablets to the preschool.
Memo on the adaptation of the child to preschool
“Adaptation of the child to kindergarten”
Dear parents! You are now entering an important period in your life and the life of your child – he is going to kindergarten. And in order for it to adapt to new conditions as calmly and quickly as possible, you should know more about the features of this difficult period.
In a child, everything is interconnected: the state of health and emotional mood, physical and mental development. The baby receives the necessary development through toys, the most important activity for him is the game. And parents need to remember that you can achieve what you want through the offer: “Let’s play!” We here constantly play with children, because it is in the game that they get acquainted with the outside world, fine arts, design, and fiction.
For each parent, it is his child who is the best, the smartest. But now he is sent to kindergarten. Naturally, mom and dad have the first experiences associated with the garden. How will the child get used to it? Will he like it? .
Usually, the period of adaptation of children to the conditions of preschool does not exceed two months. But in order for it to pass without unnecessary shocks, we should all try to rid the newcomers of the traumatic factors as much as possible.
What is needed for this?
Parents should get used to the thought: “My child is going to kindergarten, he will be fine there, he will be taken care of, he will play with his peers. I want him to go to kindergarten.”
In the corner for parents, there is a schedule of the child’s day. This is another important point of getting used to. In order for the adaptation to take place safely, now you need to accustom the baby to a daily regimen that is more similar to the preschool regimen: breakfast 8 – 9morning; lunch 12 – 13 hours; sleep from 13 to 15 hours; afternoon tea at 16:00, bedtime no later than 21:00 – 22:00. And try to stick to this routine as much as possible.
So that the child does not feel discomfort, it is advisable to accustom him to the potty (toilet) in advance and wean him from the pacifier and bottle.
Here we come to the most important thing: all the documents are ready, the child and parents are ready to go to the kindergarten, to the children.
Day 1 “Introduction Day” – you bring the child to 9hours for a walk and pick up after one hour.
Then, during the week, bring the baby and leave it in the garden until noon. And we observe him and, depending on his behavior (addiction, emotional mood), we inform you when it would be better to leave him for a daytime sleep, and then for the whole day.
But then the child began to cry, and the parents have a question: “What to do?” Why, it’s very good that the baby is crying, quiet, “Indifferent” children are of great concern, because they keep all the experiences in themselves. The child cries – and calm down emotionally, he gives a “signal” to pay attention to him. With all responsibility, we can say that children who cry at first visit kindergarten in the future with more pleasure than quiet and calm ones.
The first classes and acquaintances with specialists are held in our group, so the kids get used to new people gradually.
In the process of our communication with you, various questions will arise, please do not hesitate to come to us and ask. We will be happy to answer them, and if necessary, we will consult. Do not keep questions to yourself, do not rely on the advice of friends.
Providing students with a comprehensive and enriching educational experience takes a team of passionate professionals. From educators to guidance counselors, directors, facilitators, and curriculum developers, our education system relies on a multitude of dedicated experts.
Also known as curriculum specialists or instructional coordinators, curriculum developers are the professionals who oversee the development and success of curricula in schools and organizations, playing an integral part in delivering a well-rounded education.
For those who are passionate about education but want an option other than teaching, this role offers the opportunity to help steer the future of education. Pursuing an advanced degree, such as a Master of Arts in Teaching degree, can prepare individuals to compete for senior curriculum developer salaries and roles. These roles can allow them increased job autonomy and the chance to work in tandem with educators to equip students with skills and knowledge.
What Do Curriculum Developers Do?
In every school, from elementary schools through postsecondary institutions and beyond, each course begins with a curriculum developer. Tasked with creating, updating, and overseeing the implementation and success of classes, curriculum developers work behind the scenes to guide our education system.
Curriculum developers are involved throughout a curriculum’s development and integration process. They work in coordination with other professionals to determine what information should be taught, choose the appropriate materials and resources, and assist teachers in lesson planning and communicating that information to students. In short, curriculum developers are the experts who ensure courses are accurate and comprehensive and that they meet state and federal standards.
Some of the skills required of curriculum developers are:
Planning and organization: Responsible for meeting deadlines and updating curricula in a timely fashion, curriculum developers must be organized and forward-thinking, supplying teachers with accurate syllabi and sufficient time to follow them.
Communication: Working with teachers, school directors, and subject experts, curriculum developers must build strong communication skills not only to complete their duties in a timely fashion but also to relay information clearly to everyone involved.
Research and resource management: Because they are responsible for incorporating information from accurate and reliable resources into the courses they develop, curriculum developers must be comfortable doing their own research.
How to Become a Curriculum Developer
Building the prerequisite knowledge and skills required to shape a curriculum requires extensive focus and dedication. While some employers will hire candidates with a bachelor’s degree, typically most schools and organizations turn to candidates holding master’s degrees related to teaching and state-issued teaching certificates who have years of classroom teaching experience.
The requirement for an advanced level of education means the path to becoming a curriculum developer is sometimes a long one. Advanced education can also play a role in a curriculum developer’s salary, as well as where they can work and at what level of institution. An advanced education provides professionals with not only the background knowledge and first-hand understanding of what is realistic and attainable within a program but also the skills to give fair evaluations and feedback to teachers.
Curriculum Developer Salary
Payscale reported that the approximate median annual salary of curriculum developers was $67,500 as of June 2022, with the top end of the spectrum earning more than $95,000 per year.
Curriculum developers work in a variety of different locations. From public and private K-12 schools to postsecondary institutions and independent organizations, curriculum developers play an important role in the learning process.
Curriculum Developer Salary Factors
A multitude of factors can play a part in a curriculum developer’s salary, including:
Years of experience: The more advanced and specialized experience a curriculum developer has, the more responsibility they are able to take on. This experience and responsibility allows them to create stimulating, challenging, and innovative courses.
Level of education and advanced certifications: Postsecondary education and certifications allow curriculum developers to pull from a wealth of knowledge that can prepare them to apply for senior-level roles, such as those supervising teachers and other curriculum developers.
Geographic location: Different locations have varying standards and costs of living; many organizations base their salaries on the industry standards in their geographic location.
Private versus public institutions: In some cases, private institutions may have a larger budget to invest in curriculum development.
Job title and level of responsibility: Once curriculum developers gain experience and prove their value to an institution, they can apply for senior-level roles with an eye to taking on increased responsibility and the coveted salary that comes with it.
Design a Bright Future
Educators can make a life-long positive impact on students’ lives. With the right resources, curriculum developers are equipped to take on an invaluable role in the education process, nurturing creativity and shaping the minds of future generations. An advanced education can provide curriculum developers with the tools they need to help educators and students reach their goals.
Gaining the knowledge and experience to become a successful curriculum developer is no easy task; however, by pursuing an advanced degree like American University’s Online Master of Arts in Teaching (MAT) degree, individuals can prepare to enter the workforce with confidence. A fully online program designed by industry professionals under the cohort model, the program from American University was created to provide you with practical hands-on skills and a valuable network.

how much programmers of different levels and directions earn

We studied the data of several career resources, compared salaries with the offers of companies and made a picture of the market. Spoiler: there is still growth.

Expert advice
What determines the salaries of programmers
Several factors influence the remuneration of developers, regardless of the economic and political situation:
● Experience . The more experience and the more diverse the projects in the portfolio, the higher the specialist is valued. Moreover, the second point affects the salary more strongly. You can work with one technology for 7-8 years or gain experience in developing applications for Android and iOS in 3 years, master several frameworks and be a mentor for juniors. Such a specialist is more likely to receive a more interesting offer than the first one.
● Languages and technologies . If the developer speaks popular and relevant languages, then it is valued more. A specialist with knowledge of Golang or Java will be offered more than a C developer.
● Specialization . The salary of a software architect will be higher than that of a database developer, because he designs the entire system, and not its individual components.
● Region . Not all companies offer full remote work. Most often, this is a hybrid format – for example, two days in the office, three remotely. In this case, the salary in Moscow and St. Petersburg will be higher than in other Russian cities.
● Company size . In large companies, beginner and middle developers tend to be paid more than startups.
IT is an area that is constantly changing, so programmers are lifelong learners. The classic path of a developer is a technical university, an internship, and then real projects. But if there is no technical education, you can fill the knowledge gap in courses, and then regularly work it out in practice.
This is what a Python developer path might look like if you don’t have a basic technical background. He receives part of the knowledge and skills in the courses, at the same time he trains on his own and continues to develop
There are many different directions in programming. Well, if there is a developer in the family or among friends, you can ask him to talk about working in IT, languages and specializations, where to get knowledge. An alternative option is to watch a free course on professions in programming, and then go to the directory and choose the direction that suits you. Students of any course study in conditions, as in real life: on projects with sprints and deadlines.

From 2022, the IT market is affected by three important trends:
1. Foreign companies leaving the Russian Federation According to Yale University, more than 1,000 foreign IT companies reduced their business in Russia after February 2022. Some employees in the Russian Federation relocated to other countries, but many developers collaborated with foreign companies remotely and lost this opportunity due to difficulties with money transfers between countries.
2. Outflow of specialists According to the Ministry of Digital Development of the Russian Federation, 100,000 IT specialists left Russia in 2022, which is approximately 10% of all employees of the country’s IT companies. This number includes mostly experienced professionals who find it easier to find work abroad.
3. There are fewer vacancies in the Russian Federation. According to Superjob, by 19%. As a result, a strong shortage of seniors appeared on the market, and competition between juniors and middles intensified.
To understand the salaries of programmers, you need to understand the difference between the terms:
Average salary is the least informative indicator. To get it, they calculate the arithmetic average of all salaries – from interns to system architects.
The median salary of is a more objective indicator than the average. Above and below this level, the same number of specialists receive income. If they say that the median salary in a group of 10 people is 100,000 ₽, then five people receive less than 100,000 ₽, and five people earn more. We will mainly consider median salaries.
How much juniors, middles and seniors earn
We studied several salary resources and compared employers’ offers with real salaries that developers indicate in questionnaires.
According to Habr Career, the median salary of a programmer in Russia in the first half of 2023 is 162,000 rubles, which is 7.4% more than in the second half of 2022.
Superjob also has data for 2023 – in the salary index chart. They show the monthly dynamics of average wages in different industries.
Habr Career data shows an increase in the actual median salary – the one that employers pay developers. April 2023 data. Source: Habr Career
Updated in 2023, the graph shows that the salaries of programmers have not decreased over the entire period of research. Source: Superjob
Let’s compare these data with employers’ offers. The Zarplan service analyzed over 9,000 vacancies with the specified salary. In mid-April, the median salary of developers offered by companies is ₽151,000, and the average is ₽166,130. The offer is lower than the salary in hiring, but often companies do not indicate a specific figure, but a salary fork. And here the candidate can influence the statistics – experience, interest and even charm.
Salaries of juniors
June is a graduate or student of the last year of a technical university or special courses, and in some cases self-taught. Such specialists have several gradations: from the very initial level, when only training projects come from practice, to junior + – with experience in the company for at least a year.
Material on the topic:
Tables of ranks in IT: who are June, Midl and Senor
GetMatch service gives a breakdown based on questionnaires that the developers filled in at the end of 2022 – early 2023. The Juna Median salary in this service – 95 000 ₽. Habr Career in the report for the second half of 2022 indicates a different median salary – 70,000 ₽.
1,067 juns left data on their salaries, so it is too early to say that the median of 95,000 ₽ reflects the real state of affairs. Data as of April 2023. Source: getmatch
The salary after the probationary period is usually higher, but you need to pass it first
For the query “junior developer”, the service finds 987 vacancies. Of these, there are only 274 vacancies with a salary of 70,000 ₽ or more, and more often companies do not indicate a specific amount, but a range, for example, 60,000–90,000 ₽, 50,000–80,000 ₽, or from 60,000 ₽. But this does not mean that a novice specialist is evaluated no further than these forks. Let’s analyze a few vacancies – from the bottom of the fork to more attractive offers.
A vacancy that suits juniors without experience and without a technical university behind them. The company is ready to grow a specialist, but, most likely, in exchange expects that the candidate is ready for processing
Job for junior+ in a company that deals with engineering software. To receive 120,000 ₽ before taxes, you already need work experience in another company and a code close to the middle. You will have to not only develop, but also test
I have a higher technical education – I am a master of engineering. After graduation, I studied at the Practicum on the Java Developer course, and then began to prepare for interviews. I rewrote my resume many times, made beauty on github, studied the market and talked with familiar HRs. I repeated the theory, watched interviews on YouTube, learned algorithms and looked at my study projects – so that I had something to say when asked about the experience. Passed two training interviews – for a Java developer and an algorithmic one. As a result, I got a paid internship at the first company. My tasks on the project are to understand the code and develop features.
Advice for those who are preparing for interviews and are worried:
“Give up, you still won’t succeed.
Now get angry and prove me wrong.”
Middle salaries
A middle developer is a specialist with experience. He can take responsibility for a small problem, come up with the best solution for it, and write the code in a way that other developers can understand. Adapting a middle in a company is faster and cheaper than a junior.
Experienced developers differ from beginners in independence: the higher the level, the more they can do without the help of colleagues
Habr Career calculated that in the second half of 2022 middles earned a median of 150,000 ₽. In March 2023, such specialists of the company were most actively searched for.
More than 50% of vacancies with the specified qualification for middles – 1,702 vacancies, for seniors – 1,083, and for juniors – 97. Source: Habr Career than on Habr Career – 180,000 ₽. April 2023 data. Source: getmatch
Anna, Java Developer Course Graduate
Internship scholarship: 10,000 ₽ Salary in 2023: 200,000 ₽, software architect Graduated in January 2022, got an internship in September 2022, found a job in March 2023.
I came to the Practicum without a technical background, but I really wanted to do development, so I tried to keep up with the guys who had such experience. The course gave me a base — it helped me get an internship at an outsourcing company. There was already more intensive preparation for real projects. We studied high-level frameworks, worked with a mentor, and after the exam we had practice in a full-fledged team — with a project manager, testers, front-end developers. I was given a small project that I had to lead myself with minimal technical lead supervision. I had to think from scratch which framework to use, distribute tasks for the team, communicate with colleagues from other areas.
Half a year of such work helped me grow to the middle position, and after a couple of months I got a job in another outsourcing company. It turned out to be a non-standard path, because I passed the stage of work as a junior – now I am a software architect. But it took a lot of effort. First, to catch up with the technical base in the Practicum, and then every day for 10 hours to study theory and practice for six months on an internship. It’s harder than it looks, but worth it.
Now my colleagues and I are evaluating projects, conducting an examination of tenders, and I additionally conduct technical interviews for the company – I am responsible for selecting middle-middle + level colleagues. Here are some tips for those who want to get a job in IT:
● More practice: take technology and try to write something, otherwise the information will not be absorbed well. ● Useful to watch Jugru and Ontico conferences – there are many reports with live examples. ● Googling “100 Technical Interview Questions” for an interview really helps. ● At the interview, they will ask what tasks and how they solved before, where they want to grow in the future, what they are studying now. Candidates usually get lost at this stage, so it’s worth preparing answers. ● Understand what to talk about: it happens that a candidate says that he worked with technology, but cannot answer what its essence is. ● Do not go into details. First answer the question as a whole, and then tell in more detail about some detail. ● Think out loud. Even if a person does not know the name of the technology, but comes to the right idea through questions, this is a big plus. So, he knows how to analyze and roughly understands the concept. ● Junu, who wants to grow and do microservices, aspire to such a set of knowledge: Java, Spring, databases, integration tests, CI / CD, logs, metrics, monitoring, deployment process, test containers, queues and message brokers, Kafka , NoSQL, Mongo DB, problems of distributed systems, fault tolerance.
Salaries of seniors
Senior is the highest grade in the top three listed in the article. Such specialists understand what is the cause of the problem and how to solve a problem that no one has figured out yet. They know what code will help the system work more efficiently and how it affects the solution of business problems.
Seniors are not afraid of crises, because they will always be in demand. Habr Career data for the last two years confirms this. Source: Habr Career
The median for the salaries of Getmatch seniors almost coincides with the Habr Career data. April 2023 data. Source: getmatch
Sergey Savelyev, head of the Java development group at Yandex Market It is important for a company not only to hire an employee, but also to be interested in the area that the team is engaged in. If the team makes the product, and the person likes to set up the infrastructure, then they will most likely consider another candidate. This does not mean that you need to adapt to the direction – it will be even worse, because then it will become boring to work. It is better to find a project that is really interesting.
Average programmer salary in Moscow
In the regions, they receive a median of 121,000 ₽. At the same time, there are more vacancies in Moscow. At the request of “developer” on Headhunter at the beginning of April 2023, the service issues 8,326 vacancies.
In second place in terms of vacancies – St. Petersburg – 2,822 vacancies, in third place is Novosibirsk and the region – 703 vacancies. Chart based on Headhunter vacancies
In the Getmatch service in the second half of 2022 and early 2023, 5,995 developers from Moscow left their salary data. The median looks more optimistic than 180,000 ₽ in Habr’s report for the last year. April 2023 data. Source: getmatch
The latest data on average wages in Moscow comes from Superjob. The company calculated that for the year the average salary in IT increased by 11. 8%. The biggest salaries in 2023 – for developers in PHP, Python and C ++ – reach up to 500,000 ₽.
Let’s compare this data with the market supply in April 2023. Not all employers list salaries. The Zarplan service analyzed salary websites and found only 2,826 vacancies with an indication of the amount. As of April 2023, the average salary of a programmer in Moscow is 223,361 ₽, the median is 199,000 ₽. It turns out that the offer of employers is somewhere between the data on salaries of Habr Career and Getmatch.
An example of a vacancy with one of the lowest salaries in Moscow — 45,000 ₽. The company makes projects for the public sector, looking for an intern-developer 1C
An example of a vacancy with one of the highest salaries on Headhunter for Moscow. A fintech company is looking for a senior C++ developer and is ready to pay him from 400 to 700,000 ₽
Salaries in areas
For 2022, the Habr Career service prepared a rating of languages by salaries based on 5,792 questionnaires. Data for some of these languages was also collected by the Getmatch service based on 12,858 questionnaires.
The salaries of Golang and Delphi developers have grown the most. Many companies are moving to a microservice architecture, which makes it easier to manage and make changes to the product. Golang is the most demanded language for microservices, so companies are willing to pay more to developers who write in it. Delphi is a relative of Pascal, a language that is familiar to many from school and university programs. Large companies have a lot of old or legacy code – often it is written in Delphi. It will not be possible to rewrite it quickly, but it needs to be maintained and optimized. This can explain the demand. Data for other languages - in the table below.

Sergey Savelyev The peculiarity of the courses is that the program is limited in time and it is impossible to fit all the nuances of the language or technology in it. Therefore, students need to study some of the information on their own. For each topic, it is important to ask yourself a question – what is not clear. Then – try to find this information in open sources – books, documentation, articles on Habré, ask the course curator. Such practice should be part of the training, especially if there is no technical base. It will turn out to dive deeper into the topic and quickly move on to practice, and then to the search for projects.
Another cut that Habr Career prepared for the second half of the year is by specialization. In the top in terms of growth – 1C developer, ERP programmer and HTML layout designer. Expert tip
Sergey Savelyev Passing an interview is half the battle. It is equally important for a junior to pass a probationary period and prove that he really has the skills he talked about at the interview. At this stage, beginners have two extremes. Some approach the leader even with those questions that can be googled. Others silently plunge into a task for a week, and then find out that they did everything wrong. The golden mean is important here: to understand in which part of the task you can figure it out yourself, and where you need the help of colleagues. This will allow you to grow faster and take more responsibility in the project.
