Students study in one of seven creative areas: music, theater, dance, visual arts, writing, film and digital media, fashion and design. However, Idyllwild Arts Academy does not forget about the general education of children, which is why classical school disciplines and creative activities are given approximately equal time.
All teachers are creative people, students are given a lot of freedom in self-expression and are not constrained by academic frameworks. Programs and projects related to a new look at art are constantly appearing at the school. For example, The Creative Technology Program is popular, which helps students integrate technology into their creative projects: laser cutting, CNC processing, and 3D printing.

Number of students: 488
2018 Cost: Full Time $36,250, Residential $53,300
Shattuck-St. Mary’s holds a high educational standard in literally all areas: from science to sports. It was for her versatility and strong training that she became famous in the United States. The school offers standard curriculums such as Advanced Placement and unique Centers of Excellence.
These are reinforced programs, which are perhaps as difficult to enter as to study. However, the intensive training that children receive in the fields of biological sciences, engineering, figure skating, golf, hockey, football or vocals allows them to show some of the best results in the country. In hockey alone, SSM has won over 30 U.S. national championships. Shattuck-St. Mary’s is not looking for genius in her students, but for ability, competitive spirit and great passion for her work, it is from these qualities, in her opinion, talent is born.

Dean Emilie M. Townes’ Fall Convocation remarks, as delivered on August 26, 2022
each opening convocation, we have begun by remembering those who have died since we were last together in May and to celebrate the new births during this time as well
today, we remember
those killed in mass shootings in
highland park, il (july) uvalde, tx (may) tulsa, ok (june) buffalo, ny (may) butler township, oh (august) and more
professor dr. terrance dean reverend dr. autura eason-williams
please call the name of others who have died or been born since May of this year
blessed be
the saying comes in many forms:
be with someone who makes you look forward to tomorrow
everybody deserves someone who makes them look forward to tomorrow
everybody deserves someone who makes them look forward to tomorrow. Be that someone for someone
be someone who makes someone else look forward to tomorrow
being with you always makes me look forward to tomorrow
how to look forward to tomorrow
it’s nice to have someone who makes you look forward to tomorrow
just the thought of being with you tomorrow is enough to get me through today
look forward
looking forward
as we look back, we look forward to tomorrow
and eventually, it morphs into sayings about hope
the desire, the admonition, the encouraging word to look beyond today is not a surprising thing from era to era and society to society
particularly when we are living in a maze of ugliness
that seems to greet us at most turns in our living
and would have us call it quits with hope
and slip into a mind-numbing cynicism that might even become a withering nihilism that settles into despair that breeds ruthless armadas of hatred
i hope that you are here today and will remain here for the time it will take to complete your program because you think that there is a better way to be with each other and the creation that surrounds us
that you are willing to take the leap into learning and to open yourselves up to new ideas, new perspectives, new histories, new words…just overall new stuff
for part of what we do in theological education is make a commitment—faculty, staff, and students—to be open to the journey of bringing together head and heart, body and spirit, intellect and intuition, reason and experience as natural dance partners and not warring states of being
we, my friends, are trying to bring humanity back as we enter our classrooms, talk in the common room, gather in the atrium, sit in worship, travel here and back, hang in al’s pub, and more
because there is more in this world that calls out the good, if only we have the skills, will, strength and vision to do so
rather than only point to the bad and tell the big lie that the bad is
the status quo
and the good news is that we do not do this alone
God is in the midst of us and will not be moved
as you and i seek to move beyond a sterilized, codified, and cul-de-sac faith
to one that challenges the head, heart, body, and soul
that encourages us to lean into mystery
to learn from intellectual rigor
to bring the two together so that we can share what we are learning with others rather than hording it in the narrow harbors of our souls and intellect
looking forward means that together, we
craft a community of learning
made up with peoples of all racial ethnic groups
both cisgenders, trans, fluid, nonbinary, intersex
varied lifestyles and abilities
different political and theological agenda
from all levels of the class structure
documented and undocumented
all ages
and on and on into the richness of our living and laboring
looking forward means that we become a community of learning that strives to be active witnesses to a more humane and better way to live into a world that needs a strong word, willing hands, invigorating spirituality, and moving bodies that will act and not just pontificate
because we refuse to believe that maudlin loathing is divine commandment
and we live our lives as a ripening into wholeness
and not a current event
or spiritual two-step
or round-house of academic arbitrariness
or momentary bout of holified indigestion
i encourage all of us to be theologically fabulous and get God up doing a standing ovation in creation
by refusing to accept what is, as the best there can be
by shaping our worlds as models for justice and hope and love and deep spirit
and we hold ourselves accountable to remembering that we owe one another respect and to treat others with dignity
for if we deny justice, hope, love, and spirit; we are, in effect, telling those who go without them that they are worthless
and none of us. ..none of us…has that right
although some of us have the power and privilege to do so
as we begin this new year, we are being called to be the ones that seek wisdom, welcome change (or at least endure it), grow in grace, spread care, celebrate—really celebrate life—and not be the ones who are the poster children for a melancholy status quo
so, welcome to this new year and the great gift of possibilities, of looking forward, that you will find here and beyond
let’s open our hearts and minds to the wideness of God’s mercy
and tackle the hard issues and injustices of our day with fierce determination
a rock steady sense of hope
a laser pointer of love
and an ornery unwillingness
to live in indifference whose only companion is a conscience that is soundless
let’s make some noise and get busy with it
blessed be,
Emilie M. Townes Dean and Distinguished Professor of Womanist Ethics and Society

Little Prince Children’s Development Center in the Central Administrative District and the SAO
For more than 10 years we have been creating the wonderful world of magical childhood that we want
to give to your baby.
Our mission:
“Children must live in a world of beauty, play, fairy tales, music, drawing, fantasy, creativity”
Our system:
Based on the recognition of the child’s personality as the highest value, to which all education processes should be oriented.
Our experts:
Candidates of pedagogical and psychological sciences; members of international and Russian “Unions of Artists”; world champion, multiple champion of Russia; masters of sports; members of the Dance Sport Federation of Russia; theater and film actors; laureates of international competitions in Europe, USA and South America.
The Little Prince is his own little world for every child, where he is loved and always welcomed!
We allow you to achieve what loving parents strive for: instill in your child a craving for knowledge and enrich his inner world, learn everything you need and prepare for school, communicate with peers and easily overcome any difficulties. All this is very important, therefore, the developmental classes at the Little Prince center are based on the use of author’s methods, and qualified specialists are waiting for the baby – teachers and psychologists who truly love their work.
Learning as an exciting game
Thanks to an experienced team, a unique curriculum and a convenient location, the child development center (in Moscow near the Belorusskaya, Novoslobodskaya, Mendeleevskaya metro stations in the districts, SAO and the central region) will become the first and most memorable school for the child. It will be a little different – creativity instead of boring lessons, game rooms instead of gray classrooms, attention instead of notations. But at the same time, our children’s center can offer parents a thorough, comprehensive and professional approach to preschool education and preparation for school.
What abilities does your baby have? What does he really love and know how to do? How will he be able to surprise you after a few months, and what potential does he have? You will learn about this only if you reveal all the facets of his extraordinary personality. And developing classes in a developmental center (in Moscow, CAO and SAO) will allow your baby to learn about his talents, fully express himself and find out what he is capable of, and now everything is in your hands!
Center for Early Childhood Development in the CAO and SAO: educational activities for the child
It’s no secret to you that a child needs constant development – physical, mental, emotional and creative. Only by developing, he will be able to realize his interests, choose activities to his liking, master communication skills and gain a sense of responsibility, which is important to instill in early childhood. But every little person is unique in their own way!
Therefore, our children’s development center (in Moscow, in the SAO and CAO) conducts developmental classes based on individual programs. Only in this way, showing attention to the preferences of the baby, knowing his character, taking into account the desires and moods, you can achieve rapid and high-quality progress in learning. With us you can fully appreciate the advantages of a personal approach.
Pre-school education: in social circle
Particular attention in the learning process is paid to communication with peers: after all, it is here, in the classroom and in the playrooms, that the basics of behavior in society are laid. In this regard, our children’s center (in the CAO, SAO in Moscow near the Novoslobodskaya and Mendeleevskaya metro stations) successfully applies both world experience and the latest achievements in the field of pedagogy. Therefore, our developmental classes include:
Various educational and game situations;
Collective classes in circles and small groups;
Organization of clubs uniting children according to their interests.
Therefore, our child development center does everything possible to ensure that preschool education never turns into boring activities that do not arouse any interest in the baby. Instead, the teachers of the center organize them in such a way as to attract the attention of the child and imperceptibly draw him into the learning process – to help him choose exactly the hobby that he really likes!
Early Childhood Development Center: preparing a child for school
As you know, when coming to school for the first time, a child gets into a stressful situation. For this reason, the child development center (in Moscow, in the districts, SAO, CAO near the Novoslobodskaya, Mendeleevskaya, Petrovsko-Razumovskaya metro stations) pays great attention to the process of preparing its pupils for school life. Within the framework of this direction, developmental activities help children master the basics of the subjects studied in the lower grades and be head and shoulders above their classmates.
But there is another aspect – psychological and emotional. This is where experienced psychologists come into play – they will help the child cope with stress faster, join the new children’s team and feel easy and confident within the walls of the school.
Center for Early Childhood Development: English courses for children
Toddlers are very receptive to foreign languages: teaching English for children at the Little Prince Center will lay a solid foundation for its further study and easily master the basic level. Teaching English to children (in Moscow, in the Central Administrative District, SAO), teachers present the material in the most interesting and accessible way. So that children not only remember the past and learn new things at each lesson, but also enjoy the process.
Thanks to a special approach, English courses for children (in the CAO (central district), SAO, in Moscow near the Novoslobodskaya and Mendeleevskaya and Petrovsko-Razumovskaya metro stations) will help to fully prepare for foreign language lessons at school. From the very first day, your baby will be ready to learn new material and eventually speak English fluently, because this is what many people lack today.
Early child development: children’s circles (in Moscow, in the Central Administrative District and the SAO)
But do not forget that the Little Prince Early Childhood Development Center is not only about modern programs of preschool education and preparation for school. We are sure that the comprehensive development of children must necessarily include not only intellectual, but also creative and spiritual development, therefore, on the basis of the center works:
children’s theater studio (in Moscow, in the Central Administrative District),
art children’s studio (in the Central Administrative District, in Moscow),
diverse children’s clubs (Moscow, Novoslobodskaya metro station, Tverskaya metro station and Belorusskaya metro station),
children’s yoga section.
The circles are led by professionals who not only have extensive teaching experience in the field of early development, but are also truly passionate about the direction they supervise. With their help, your baby will be able to unleash his creative abilities, no matter what plane they lie in. In turn, yoga for children will contribute to emotional relief, relaxation after classes, strengthening their spirit and strong-willed qualities. With us, your child will always be interested!

These events affected the lives of many people, cost millions of dollars and caused great harm to all who were involved in them.
The central figure in this tragic story was Virginia McMartin, a wheelchair-bound 77-year-old grandmother. There was nothing like a high priestess of a satanic cult torturing small children.
Yet in 1984, the District Attorney of Southern California filed charges against Mrs. McMartin, her daughter Peggy McMartin Bucky, her grandchildren Peggy Ann Bucky and Raymond Bucky, and three teachers at the Manhattan Beach Preschool.
The allegations against kindergarten management and teachers were such that they would make anyone’s heart ache and those with small children would panic.
The District Attorney alleged that children at McMartin Preschool were sexually abused and bullied and that McMartin and her employees belonged to a Satanic cult that performed its rituals at the kindergarten, involving young children and sacrificing animals.
The case was initiated by the mother of a 2.5-year-old boy who attended this kindergarten. The child’s mother claimed that her son had been sexually harassed and reported her suspicions to the local police.
Police and DA investigators, along with professional psychologists, interviewed a little boy and other children at McMartin Day Care. Using special dolls, the anatomical structure of which corresponded to that of a human, they asked the children to describe what happened in the kindergarten and to demonstrate on the dolls the actions that the educators performed or forced the children to perform.
After hearing the stories told by these children and prompted by “professional investigators”, the authorities took up the accusations in a fright. The preschool was closed, Virginia McMartin, the Bucky family, kindergarten teachers were arrested, and the wheel of justice began to turn. About 52 charges were brought against the defendants. The country was shocked by the terrible details of this atrocity, and suddenly similar stories began to occur everywhere. Reports of Satanist sects and massive child abuse came from major cities and small towns across the country. Entire cities and districts were seething with accusations against teachers and social workers. Did this mean that the sects of Satanists covered the whole country with their terrible network?
The further the McMartin case progressed, the longer and harder the prosecution worked to prove the charges against them, the more difficult it became. Frightening stories did not find concrete confirmation in the slightest. And since the witnesses who were also victims of the crimes being investigated were small children, whose testimony was strongly influenced by adult investigators, a serious question arose as to how reliable these testimony could be.
Interesting facts
Children, in particular, claimed that there was a network of tunnels under the kindergarten leading to a secret room where terrible things happened. For some reason, this fact was not verified during the trial. After the trial, all the ground around the kindergarten was dug up, all the walls and floors of the kindergarten building were checked. There were no tunnels.
By 1986, all charges against the elder Mrs. McMartin, her granddaughter Peggy Ann Bucky, and the kindergarten teachers were dropped. However, prosecutors continued to press charges against Peggy McMartin Bucky and her son Raymond Bucky. They were accused of multiple child abuse cases over a five year period.
In 1990, Peggy McMartin Bucky was acquitted on all counts. Her son was acquitted of 40 counts, although the court was deadlocked on some other counts. Another composition of the court was convened, and another trial was held, at the end of which the court could not decide on eight counts. Eventually they were taken down.
This case dragged on for seven years. Los Angeles County spent $13 million on him, resulting in no one being convicted at all. All that this trial has achieved is ruined the lives of the accused. McMartin Kindergarten was closed and never reopened. The accused were ruined, they could no longer do their job. They had no choice but to simply live out their days, as their reputation was forever tarnished. Once such horrific suspicions arose, it was impossible to completely get rid of them.
Remember this!
The wave of unfounded accusations against preschool institutions, caused by the incompetence of those who conducted the investigation, the excessive zeal of prosecutors and the fear of the public, is only now beginning to subside. The experiments you can read about in this chapter and in Chapter 13, Amazing Memory, show that children’s memories can be easily manipulated.
Interesting Facts
In 1997, Mark Pendergast compared the outbreak of accusations of belonging to satanic cults to a medieval witch hunt in Europe. He pointed out that: “Many ‘witches’ admitted the most ridiculous accusations … They invented consistent and detailed stories about the orgies in which they took part, about the children they roasted and ate. Young girls described the horrific details of how the Devil deprived them of their innocence, although the examination showed that they were virgins.
After all, while there was no evidence that these people had committed all the heinous crimes they were accused of, there was no evidence that they hadn’t, right? Of course, it is almost impossible to disprove something that did not exist.
And what about the children who told all these terrifying stories? They will go through life, remembering, if not the alleged events themselves, then this case. Years later, they themselves will wonder what happened in this small kindergarten on the ocean.
Almost certainly nothing happened there.
How could a series of terrible events like those that happened in Manhattan Beach happen? We will explain it briefly. Let’s go back to the origins of the McMartin case for a moment. Remember the baby’s mother who first contacted the Manhattan Beach police in 1983? What happened to her? And why did she have the suspicions that she first reported? Yes, later it turned out that the poor woman had long suffered from a mental disorder. The whole thing almost certainly originated in the diseased brain of this woman.

Stroll along Brighton Beach: nihon81 — LiveJournal
There was a previous post about Brooklyn here. Today we are heading to the south of Brooklyn, to Brighton Beach.
1. Many Russian artists perform here, I also saw advertisements on buses, for example, of KVN teams.
2.
What Wikipedia tells us:
Brighton Beach is an area located in New York, in the very south of Brooklyn, on the Atlantic Ocean. Another name is Little Odessa. Brighton Beach is bordered by Sheepshead Bay to the north and east along Belt Parkway, Neptune Avenue, Cass Place and East 12th Street, Manhattan Beach to the east along Corbin Place, and Coney Island to the west along Ocean -Parkway.
Gained fame in the USSR since the mid-1970s as a place of compact residence of emigrants from the USSR, mostly Jews from Ukraine and Russia. After the collapse of the USSR, immigrants from the countries of the former USSR began to settle in Brighton Beach. The population, according to data for 2010, is 23,431 inhabitants. Many residents do not enter into leases and do not participate in the census, so in reality the number of people living in Brighton Beach can be, according to various estimates, from 70 to 80 thousand. The population density is 1.5 times higher than the average for Brooklyn.
The area is widely known for Russian-speaking companies – restaurants, cafes, concert halls. Many cultural and educational centers of the Russian-speaking Jewish community of New York are located here – radio stations, television studios, newspaper editorial offices, schools and pre-school education institutions, leisure centers, the widest infrastructure of services in Russian. The area is predominantly built up with 1920s brick tenement houses and 1900-1919 wooden one-story bungalows20s of construction.

Apple increases the use of renewable energy in Europe

World’s largest onshore wind turbines in Denmark and clean energy initiatives in Germany to help Apple achieve carbon neutrality by 2030
Apple invests in the construction of two of the world’s largest onshore wind turbines near the Danish city of Esbjerg.
Apple today announced its intention to invest in two of the world’s largest onshore wind turbines. The clean energy they generate will help move the delivery and production of the company’s products closer to carbon neutrality. The 200 m high wind turbines are located near the Danish city of Esbjerg and are estimated to generate 62 GWh of energy per year. This is enough to meet the energy needs of 20,000 households. In addition, this power plant will become a test site for powerful offshore wind turbines. The energy generated in Esbjerg will power Apple’s data center in Viborg, with the surplus fed into the Danish grid.
“Climate change requires urgent action and global collaboration, and the Viborg data center is a strong signal that we can meet this challenge for our generation,” said Lisa Jackson, Apple’s vice president of environmental protection. , politics and social programs. “Investments in green energy are leading to revolutionary developments that provide clean energy and promising jobs for companies and local communities. And we must be leaders in this direction – for the benefit of our planet and future generations.”
Last month, Apple announced its plans to achieve carbon neutrality across its operations, production chain and product lifecycle by 2030. Apple’s operations are already 100% renewable and carbon neutral, and with a new commitment, every Apple device will have zero climate impact by 2030. This means, among other things, the need to transfer all European suppliers of the company to renewable energy.
Earlier this summer, one of the largest arrays of solar panels was commissioned to power the Apple data center in Viborg. This is the first solar power plant in Denmark built without government subsidies.
Supplier transition to clean energy
This week our supplier, Varta in Germany, committed to converting all Apple products to renewable energy. This initiative is supported by all Apple suppliers in Europe, including Henkel and tesa SE in Germany, DSM Engineering Materials in the Netherlands, STMicroelectronics in Switzerland and Solvay in Belgium. For example, DSM entered into an agreement to purchase wind power in the Netherlands, and STMicroelectronics built a solar-covered carport in Morocco. Many companies, including Solvay, are now expanding the use of renewable energy in their operations since joining Apple’s Clean Energy Transition Program five years ago.
Apple launched this program in October 2015 to help suppliers reduce their energy consumption and switch to 100% renewable energy. Since then, 72 manufacturing partners in 17 countries have committed to using 100% renewable energy for Apple products. With Apple suppliers completing all relevant clean energy projects, annual CO2-equivalent greenhouse gas emissions will be reduced by more than 14.3 million tonnes, the equivalent of more than 3 million vehicles off the road each year.
Viborg Data Center
Apple’s 45,000 sq. m, which provides networking and data storage for users in the region. The center powers the App Store, Apple Music, iMessage, Siri and other Apple services in Europe, powered entirely by local renewable energy sources.
Like all Apple data centers, Viborg is powered by renewable energy only.
The Esbjerg wind farm follows the launch of one of the largest solar arrays in Scandinavia, located in Thisted, North Jutland. The array was the first Danish solar project to be implemented without government subsidies. Both wind and solar power plants will supply power to Apple’s new data center in Viborg, powered entirely by renewable sources. Both projects are being developed by Apple in partnership with European Energy.
More than 600 people worked daily at the construction site of the data center in Viborg. Many Danish companies also participated in the project. Today, the center has a team of data scientists, engineers, maintenance and security personnel, many of whom are local residents.
Viborg’s data center buildings have been specially designed for sustainable use and have a unique cooling system that uses natural air currents to significantly reduce water and energy consumption.

FAQs on Apple Product Manager Role in the United States
Q1. Can I apply for multiple Product Manager roles at once at Apple?
Yes. And even if you don’t, Apple may consider you for multiple roles if you are a good fit. However, even though you may be applying for different types of Product Manager roles only at Apple, don’t expect any two interviews to be the same. Apply a tailored approach for each Product Manager position, even within Apple.
Q2. How long must I wait before applying again after rejection for a Product Manager role at Apple?
If they reject you post the on-site interview, you might have to wait for three to six months to apply again for the same Product Manager position. However, if they find you’re a better fit for a different team or role, you won’t have to wait much; they’ll set up the interviews for that particular team/role for you. If it isn’t the same role you got rejected for, you may also apply for different Product Manager openings anytime at Apple since there’s no cool-off period at Apple.
Q3. What’s the maximum number of times I can interview for a particular Product Manager job at Apple?
There may be a cool-off period after rejection for the same position, but there is no upper limit on the number of times you can apply for a position at Apple.

How to Get a Product Manager Job at Apple | by Carlos G de Villaumbrosia | Product School
It’s normal to be tech-obsessed and dream of a job at one of the biggest and most disruptive technology companies of the 20th and 21st centuries. Apple has created two million U.S. jobs and is present (often dominating) in markets all over the world. Naturally, competition is fierce, as Apple themselves state, “this is where some of the world’s smartest, most passionate people create the world’s most innovative products and experiences.” If you want to get what could be the most rewarding job of your career, you’ll need to be prepared. Luckily, we have all the insider knowledge you need to bring your A Game.
Job Overview
Average salary for a Product Manager: $161,607
Average salary for a Senior Product Manager: $203,308
Benefits: If you’re working in San Francisco, you get free transportation to and from the office in air-conditioned shuttles and busses, and the food in Cafe Macs in subsidized and reportedly delicious. At all locations worldwide you’ll receive health and dental care, discounts on products for you and your family/friends, paid time off and an employee stock purchase plan. Maternity benefits and paternity leave are available internationally.
Locations: Headquartered in Cupertino, California, US.
Background required for PM role: Minimum of 5 years experience in Product Management, a BA/BSc is preferred but not necessary if your experience level makes up for it.
Apple’s mission statement was released in 1977 by Steve Jobs and Steve Wozniak.
Steve Jobs then set out Apple’s Core Values in 1981, which still serve as a great guide for what the company stands for, especially as the company currently doesn’t have an ‘official’ mission statement.
What Does it Take to Be an Apple PM?
Background and Transition
For all Product Manager jobs at Apple, you’ll need at least 5+ years in a product management role, for some you’ll need 8+. So it’s extremely unlikely that your first real PM role will be with Apple! However, if you are in engineering or marketing, you may be able to transition into product at your own company before attempting the move. You could also consider a Product Management Certification to boost your career and move up the ladder faster.
While you’ll definitely need some technical experience and know-how, it’s not necessary to have a degree in CSS. Most positions don’t specify which Bachelors subject they require, and clearly value experience over your formal education background. Basically, with hard work and perseverance there’s nothing stopping you from getting that job!
Culture Fit
Like many of the bigger tech companies, Apple are keen to create a culture within their workforce. If you’re going for a job at Apple it’s important to feel like you relate to their original core values. The overall mission seems to be to empower humanity through technology, and to leave the world better than you found it.
Based on previous interviews, having the right personality is very important. Apple want employees who care deeply about what they’re trying to achieve, and to come into work with enthusiasm. If your job is just a paycheque to you, getting a job at Apple might be a bit out of your reach. You’ll need to demonstrate your wider product knowledge, such as industry trends, popular books, and thought leaders.
Naturally, the interview process differs depending on the job you’re going for, but they mostly start out the same way. You’ll begin with a 30 minute, fairly informal phone interview with a recruiter, just to measure how well you fit the basic requirements of the job. While this is the easiest part of the interview process, it’s still your foot in the door! Don’t underestimate how important this first impression is!
Once you’ve passed the phone interview, you’ll move on to a FaceTime with a team leader. This is where they’ll start to measure your technical abilities and weight up your cultural fit within the company. They’ll want to know everything from what software you have experience with and what your approach to conflict resolution is. Not only are they getting their first glimpse at whether you’re capable of doing the job, but whether you’re someone they want to work with every day.
The next step depends on which position you are applying for. It may be a panel interview with different team members, or it could be a set of group interviews which include other candidates. In either case, you can expect around a six-hour on-site process. This is where things get difficult!
Example Interview Questions
One question which repeatedly comes up across interviews for all jobs roles is “Why Apple?” so before you head into that interview it’s important to know exactly why you want this job. For the best answer, use the Past-Present-Future technique. Think about what Apple’s past means to you, what you love about what they’re doing now, and what excites you about what they’ll do in the future.
Apple will also ask you a mixture of questions based on your technical abilities, your background, and your future with the company. Many candidates find themselves acting out role-play scenarios with the interviewer to show how they would handle various situations. They are also one of the companies that ask puzzle-questions meant to test your critical thinking:
“Explain to a child how a router works.”
“Where do you want to be 5 years from now?”
“What’s more important, fixing the customer’s problem or creating a good customer experience?”
“Can you define empathy for me?”
“Show me, using just your voice, how you would demonstrate to a manager that you disagreed with their decision.”
‘What three words would you use to describe Apple products?”
“How do you keep up to date with the latest product events; like podcasts, blogs or websites?”
“What would you miss about your last job if Apple hired you?”
“If you’re given a jar with a mix of fair and unfair coins, and you pull one out and flip it 3 times, and get the specific sequence heads heads tails, what are the chances that you pulled out a fair or an unfair coin?”
The most important thing to remember when heading into any product job is to remain focused on your goal. Keep reminding yourself why you want this particular role at this particular company so badly. Also remember the hard work you put in to get to this point, and how much you deserve your dream job. With a bit of confidence and a cool head, you’ll crush it!
90,000 salary of about $7,000, meetings with top managers and an atmosphere of the strictest secrecy – Offtop on vc.ru
“Imagine: you got the job of your dreams, but you can’t tell anyone about it – neither update your Facebook status, nor add information about a new job to your resume,” is exactly how Business Insider claims to describe an internship at Apple.
The editors of Business Insider spoke with a former Apple intern, who asked not to disclose his real name and call him Brad. The young man claims that such precautions are due to the fact that Apple wants to maintain maximum secrecy regarding its products. Interns, he said, have the right to tell about the new work only to members of their family.
Most of the employees, however, according to Brad, are very loyal to the company – and in combination with the non-disclosure policy, this makes the company’s culture “unique”.
Getting a job at Apple
The process of hiring interns at Apple, says Brad, is different from recruiting at Google or Facebook. When a young man got an internship at Facebook, according to him, he was not interviewed for any specific position – the interview was rather general, and after hiring, he should have been placed in a specific department. From his friends who were doing an internship at Google, the young man learned that in this corporation everything is arranged in much the same way.
At Apple, the young man says, the intern is interviewed immediately for a specific position, and the interview is conducted by the head of the corresponding project. Brad was unable to tell Business Insider about the interview questions he was asked, but noted that for almost two hours, he and his interviewer talked mostly about the potential intern’s previous work experience.
Trainee salary
According to Brad, the average Apple intern is paid $38 an hour. The intern receives about $6,700 per month. Moreover, if the intern works more than 40 hours a week, then for each additional hour he is paid $57. If more than 60 – $76. In addition, interns do not have to pay for housing – Apple provides specialists with places to live on its campus.
According to Maxim Britto, an intern at Apple in 2008 in the Safari team, one of the most striking impressions of the internship was getting to know other interns – in his opinion, living with them helped him learn a lot about other cultures and make new friends.
If the intern wants to live separately, Apple pays him an additional $1,000 in rent. Moreover, if a specialist moves to Silicon Valley from another region in order to work at Apple, the company allocates $ 3,300 to cover the costs of moving (air tickets, delivery of things, and so on).
According to Brad, Apple is looking for talented professionals from all over the world, and does not want moving to Silicon Valley to become an obstacle for them. Britto notes that the company helped him with obtaining a visa and processing the relevant documents (the former trainee is originally from France).
Atmosphere of secrecy
The company’s goal, says Brad, is to “surprise and delight” users. Therefore, it is important for management that no one knows what Apple employees are doing. The IT giant is moving workers from different departments to different buildings so that they have less opportunity to constantly communicate. Thus, even employees of different departments most often do not know what is happening in other departments.
“Any filming on campus is prohibited. It’s crazy,” says Brad.
Sometimes Apple employees can’t be sure what they’re working on. According to Brad, on campus he met the man who designed the first iPad. He worked on a big screen, but until the tablet was presented to the public, he did not know why he was doing this.
“The team didn’t know if it was going to be a big smartphone or a small laptop,” says a former intern. “It wasn’t until they saw Steve Jobs take the stage and show off the iPad to the audience that they realized what they had been working on for the past two years.”
Senior management meetings
Especially for interns, Apple holds meetings with members of the leadership so that they can ask questions and learn more about the life of the company. At such conversations, as a rule, top managers tell how they managed to achieve such a high position in the company, and then young professionals ask them their questions.
During his internship, Brad attended a meeting with the head of the iPhone camera department. At the event, he learned that designer Jony Ive did not like the protruding camera in the iPhone 6, but there were only two ways to solve this problem: by increasing the volume of the smartphone or degrading the characteristics of the camera itself.
In addition, Brad listened to a lecture by Apple’s vice president of operations, from which he learned that a certain part of smartphones that come off the assembly line does not work well or is defective – and it cannot be sold in stores. “It was interesting to hear about the problems that arise during production,” says a former intern.
Employee loyalty
Apple employees, according to Brad, usually cooperate with the company for a very long time – from 25 to 35 years. According to Brad, in other IT corporations, such as Google and Facebook, it is not uncommon for employees to leave the company or create their own startups after a few years or even months of work in the company. At Apple, things are different.
Apple generously rewards employees for loyalty, notes Brad – this includes even lower-level employees.
Approaching the campus, you will see how workers drive up to the office in sports cars – these are not managers, these are ordinary developers. It’s clear why they don’t want to go somewhere else.
