How Much Does It Cost To Run One? (with Interesting Statistics)

Daycare businesses can vary from small, home-run startups to child daycare centres serving about 50-100 youngsters, and in some cases, even more. If you are planning to run a daycare, it would help to know the operational costs that incur while running one.

And, now that the whole world is completely shaken by the global crisis, it will have a huge impact on how daycare businesses handle payroll, expenses, and overall spending in general.

Innovative childcare management software and automation are becoming quite popular, so stay tuned.

In this post, we will be assessing the daycare operational costs as it is today. This way, you’ll get a rough idea of how much you will need to operate a daycare facility.

Impact of the Global Pandemic on Daycare Providers

Before the global health crisis, there were about 675,000 child daycare providers in the US. These providers were primarily small startups that were already running on thin margins.

And, the pandemic has only made it worse for the daycare industry. Since the beginning of March 2020, many daycare providers had to close to their centres to follow new public health regulations, which led to revenue loss that extended for weeks to even months at a time.

As states have started to open, many providers have begun reopening. However, they still operate with increased operational costs and limited capacity. So before we jump right to the overall spend trends, let’s take a quick look at the immediate impact on daycare providers due to the pandemic.

The following findings are from a survey on Louisiana’s child daycare providers concerning the impacts of Coronavirus from June 15 to June 22, 2020:

• 77% of daycare providers experienced financial losses because of Covid-19, with average losses accounting to $110,000 for each centre as of 22nd June. This translates to a total loss of about $137.5 million statewide.
• About 81% of open providers saw a fall in enrolment rates. The number of children enrolled was 30 percent less in June as compared to January.
• 40% of childcare centres, including the ones that remained closed during the survey period, had several families (who wanted to enrol their kids) on the wait-list.

Daycare Growth Statistics

• The US daycare industry has experienced an average growth of 4.0% per year from 2004 to 2020. (IBISWorld Reports)
• In 2019, the US daycare industry made $56 billion in total. (IBISWorld Reports)
• In terms of revenue, the daycare industry’s market size is $59.4 billion in 2020.  (IBISWorld Reports)
• In 2020, the daycare market size is predicted to decline by -1.5%. (IBISWorld Reports)

Payroll Costs for Childcare Businesses

As per the 2017 US Census Bureau data, there were 12,829 single proprietor daycare centres, with payroll costs of approximately $25,000 on average.

The 5,500 small daycare companies had average payrolls of around $50,000 annually. The overall payroll of the US childcare centres were slightly over $262,100 per year on average.

The largest expense for daycare facilities is the payroll costs – particularly human labour. Workforce can easily account for 60-80% of your total daycare business spending.

So how much salary do daycare centres pay their workers on average?

Salary Statistics

In terms of company spending, salary takes up a huge share for most businesses, including daycare. And needless to say, the pay of your employees will depend on their roles. For instance, the average hourly wage for general childcare employees varies from that of administrators, teacher’s assistants, and preschool teachers who are working in the child daycare industry.

• The salary of daycare employees ranges from $27,344 to $35,833 on average. (Chron)
• In May 2019, childcare employees working in the daycare sector received a median hourly pay rate of  $11.65 on average. (Bureau of Labor Statistics)
• This translates to an annual median pay rate of $24,230 on average. (Bureau of Labor Statistics)
• Additionally, the lowest 10% made below $8. 65 while the highest 10% made over $17.21. (Bureau of Labour  Statistics)
• In May 2019, 431,350 preschool teachers were working in daycare centers, and they made an average rate of $16.66 per hour or $34,650 annually. (BLS data)
• The median pay rate per hour for preschool teachers was $14.67. (BLS data)
• Of the 103,060 teacher assistants that were working in the daycare sector in 2019, their annual wage was $29,640  on average. (BLS data)
• Daycare administrators received an average hourly rate of $25,81. This translates to an annual salary of  $53,690 on average. (BLS data)

Aside from salaries, payroll management incurs other costs that are less obvious. The effort and time it takes to make sure every employee receives their pay-check increases considerably.

Payroll Management Stats

• Payroll problems impact 54 percent of the working population in America. (Zenefits)
• 17 percent of small startups spend 6 to 10 hours a month on payroll and about 11 percent commit over 10 hours per month. (Score.org)
• Just 39 percent of companies rely on cloud-based payroll software. (Deloitte)
• As per a study, 20 percent of employers utilize spreadsheets for managing attendance, instead of more advanced tools. (Workforce Software)

And here are some interesting statistics for daycare companies considering theologizing their payroll system:
• Automation helps organizations in cutting down about 80% of their payroll costs. (American Payroll Association)
• But a survey stated that only 6 percent of businesses leverage automation tools for managing their payroll. (Deloitte)

As it’s clear, relying on machines for handling menial tasks will eliminate the need to depend on human labour to get it done.

Consequently, this will offer more space for people who can contribute real value to the company.

There is no room for errors with automation as opposed to people.
• About 1-8 percent of payroll entries on papers tend to contain mistakes. (American Payroll Association)
• 35 percent of the HR department’s time is spent on correcting payroll errors. (OnePoint HCM)

This explains why payroll management tools are expected to surge by 9 percent in the coming years. (Industry reports)

Taxes, Insurance, and Legal Fees

Another major concern for daycare businesses is regarding the taxes they need to pay annually. This is closely associated with the spending of the overall organization, and specifying administrative expenses tend to take up plenty of time.

Besides taxes, another expense that every company tries to keep low is legal fees. Nonetheless, it generally surges inevitably when least expected.

The overall startup costs will depend on the way you establish and run your business. For instance, a home-based childcare centre will cost less as compared to buying or leasing an office location or building.

Plus, there are fewer overhead costs, which include rent and the expenses associated with the utilities and maintenance of the building.  

• Based on the coverage you purchase, daycare insurance range between $400 and $1,350 per year for home-based daycare businesses. (Fit Small Business)
• As for commercial childcare centres, it ranges between $1000 and $3500. (Fit Small Business)
• Educational supplies and tools can account for over $4700. (Self-Help.org)
• Legal fees for daycare startups licensed for 76 children with ages ranging from 6 weeks to 5 years will be around $575 on average. (Self-Help.org)
• By adding other expenses for marketing, furniture, and administration, the collective daycare startup cost would amount to about $95,485 on average. (Self-Help.org)

Marketing & Advertising Cost Statistics

For most newly opened childcare centres, growth is the main challenge. And to encourage this growth, businesses contribute a significant amount to advertising and marketing.
• The average daycare centre accommodating around 50 children is expected to spend a minimum of $15,000 to $30,000 a year. (Circle Social Inc)
• The most affordable ads will cost around $1500 for TV. These are ads spanning around 30 seconds and another $1500 for producing the commercial. (Circle Social Inc)
• The ballpark cost for daycare ads on billboards will cost around $1000 to $6000 a month. (Circle Social Inc)
• Community events are relatively cheap, interactive, highly targeted, and boost community presence. And the estimated cost range from free to $500 for each event. (Circle Social Inc)

As you can see, businesses are striving hard to expand their brand. Whether it’s by investing in TV ads, billboards, or community events, marketing budget plays a huge part in a daycare spending.

How Much Does It Cost to Run a Daycare? | Small Business

Starting a day care seems like a simple way to make money, but how much does it cost to run a daycare? Even a home day-care center faces expenses you might not consider. From materials for the kids to business expenses, the costs eat into your profits. Calculate the initial startup costs and the ongoing expenses you will incur to determine whether the business option is viable.

Building and Location Expenses

The location of your day care affects the building costs you incur. If you open a center in a commercial building, the monthly lease or loan payment counts for a large portion of your operating expenses. Leases vary in price, depending on your local real estate market, building size and location within the city.

Whether you run the day care in a building or at home, you’ll need a budget for utilities related to the business, including water and electricity. At a commercial building, you’ll also pay for property taxes. Between the rent and the taxes, you could pay between five and ten percent of your day-care center income each month.

Labor and Taxes

If you hire any staff or assistants for your day care, the salary for these employees is a regular expense. Employees expect their pay no matter how the business does, so you’ll need money to cover their paychecks to keep quality staff. You also pay the Social Security and Medicaid taxes for yourself and any employees. Since you are technically the employer, you pay both the employer and employee portion for yourself, which should fall somewhere between the 15 to 30 percent range of the total amount you earn.

Property and Liability Insurance Costs

Insurance is essential for a day-care business. You’ll need both a liability policy and a property policy. If you run your day care from home, your regular homeowners policy won’t likely cover any liability or property damage for business-related problems.

Contact your current insurance company to determine whether you need an additional policy. The insurance will likely cost several hundred dollars each year.

Supplies and Equipment

Before the day care opens, you need basic equipment and supplies to care for the children. If you care for babies, you need cribs for safe sleeping areas. Other day-care equipment includes a changing table, highchairs, children’s table and play equipment. You need storage areas for the toys and equipment used by the children, as well as file storage to keep your records.

Expect to pay around $600 for each child on those pieces of equipment. In addition to the big equipment expenses, you need consumable supplies that are continual expenses, such as cleaners, food, craft supplies and office supplies. Estimate around $3 per child for food each day. Cost per child could run around $100 per week .

Kindergarten Income and Expenditure Information – Kindergarten and Child

Question: How can I force the principal to provide information about kindergarten income and expenses? Is it possible to find out how much money the state actually transferred, how much was spent and under what items? And in general, is this open information or closed?

Sergey Bulatnikov, lawyer answers:

Unfortunately, the current legislation does not provide for the obligation of the head of a preschool institution to provide parents (parents’ committee) at their arbitrary request with information about the budget funds used in this institution. Therefore, formally, as you put it, it will hardly be possible to “force” the head of the kindergarten to give out data on how much was received, how much and where budgetary funds were spent.

However, this does not mean that such information cannot be obtained at all.

The right of citizens to information (access to information) is guaranteed by the Constitution of the Russian Federation (Articles 24, 29). This right finds its concretization in other regulatory legal acts, both federal and regional levels (including acts relating to the field of preschool education).

So, according to Part 2 of Art. 32 of the Law of the Russian Federation of July 10, 1992 No. 3266-1 “On Education”, an educational institution is obliged to provide the founder (i.e., in fact, a state body or local government body) and the public with an annual report on the receipt and expenditure of financial and material resources .

According to the materials on the preparation of public reports of educational institutions at all levels, sent by the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation, the information included in the report includes, among other things, the following information: expenses per 1 pupil – in dynamics, in comparison with other preschool educational institutions.

The “public” in Part 2 of Article 32 of the Law “On Education” (the law itself, unfortunately, does not define this concept) should, apparently, mean a fairly wide (indefinite) circle of people. And “providing a report to the public” is understood as providing access to relevant information for these persons.

In this sense, any interested person (including the parents’ committee) can receive this annual report. This understanding is in line with the Federal Law of May 8, 2010 No. 83-FZ, which contains a specific list of open access documents in relation to municipal and state institutions (since 2012). Similar compliance with the currently discussed draft Law “On Education”, which also clearly defines the composition of open access information (including on the receipt and expenditure of financial and material resources).

In addition, Article 8 of the Federal Law of February 9, 2009 No. 8-FZ “On Providing Access to Information on the Activities of State Bodies and Local Self-Government Bodies” establishes that a citizen (individual), organization (legal entity), a public association has the right to receive reliable information about the activities of state bodies and local self-government bodies. At the same time, according to Article 1 of this law, such information is understood as information created within the limits of their powers by state bodies, their territorial bodies, local governments or organizations subordinate to state bodies, local governments (hereinafter referred to as subordinate organizations), or received by the specified bodies and organizations.

In other words, information on expenditures and revenues of budgetary funds in a state (municipal) preschool institution is also among the information on the activities of state bodies and local governments due to the fact that such an educational institution is an organization subordinate to the relevant state body or local authority self-government.

In accordance with art. 6, 18 of the above law d access to information about the activities of state bodies and local governments can be provided to users at their request to state bodies (local governments) .

In accordance with paragraph 3 of paragraph 4 of Art. Federal Law No. 149-FZ of July 27, 2006 “On Information, Information Technologies and Information Protection”, access to information on the use of budgetary funds (with the exception of information constituting state or official secrets) cannot be restricted.

Thus, today, parents have two main options for obtaining information about the income and expenses of the budgetary funds of a preschool institution:

1. upon request to a preschool institution for granting on the basis of Art. 32, clause 2 of the Law of the Russian Federation “On Education” of the annual report on the receipt and expenditure of financial and material resources;
2. upon request to a state body (for example, the Department of Education) or local government to provide relevant information on the basis of Art. 6, 18 of the Federal Law “On ensuring access to information about the activities of state bodies and local governments.”

The film Dangerous Minds has a real basis. It was created based on the autobiographical book by Lou Ann Jackson. The main character was embodied by actress Michelle Pfeiffer. The plot is based on a topic that is always and everywhere relevant – how to find a common language with uncontrollable teenagers. It is of particular interest if it is presented in the form of a well-made film. And here, director John N. Smith, a former Oscar nominee, did not disappoint the audience.

The picture, with musical accompaniment by rapper Coolio – it’s about the hit Gangsta’s Paradise, which was nominated for the MT Katal Award as the best song of the film – burst into the minds of the audience. This is evidenced by rental fees – they amounted to 179.5 million dollars against 23 million of the budget.

Confirmation of the audience’s love is the nomination of the film for the MTV channel award. Also, Michelle Pfeiffer herself was twice nominated for this award – for the best role and as the most desirable woman.

Discovered a universal method for sorting complex information This information would help you better understand your competitors.

This is an example of the “nearest neighbor” problem that is widely studied in computer science. Given a set of information and a new point, and you want to find which of the existing points it will be closest to? This question comes up in many everyday situations in areas such as genome research, image searches, and recommendations on Spotify.

But, unlike the cafe example, questions about the nearest neighbor are often very complex. Over the past few decades, some of the greatest minds in computer science have been looking for the best way to solve a problem like this. In particular, they tried to deal with the complications that arise from the fact that different datasets can have very different definitions of the “proximity” of points to each other.

Now, a team of computer scientists have come up with a whole new way to solve the nearest neighbor problem. In a pair of papers, five scientists detailed the first generalized method for solving the nearest neighbor problem for complex data.

“This is the first result to cover a large set of spaces with a single algorithmic technique,” said Piotr Indik, a computer scientist at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and an influential figure in the development of this problem.

Distance difference

We are so attached to a single way of measuring distance that it is easy to lose sight of the possibility of other ways. We usually measure distance like Euclidean – as a straight line between two points. However, there are situations in which other definitions make more sense. For example, the Manhattan distance forces you to make 9 turns.0 degrees, as if moving along a rectangular network of roads. To measure a distance that could be 5 kilometers in a straight line, you may need to cross a city in one direction for 3 kilometers and then in the other direction for 4.

It is also possible to think of distances in a non-geographical sense. What is the distance between two people on a social network, or two films, or two genomes? In these examples, the distance indicates the degree of similarity.

There are dozens of distance metrics, each of which is suitable for a specific task. Take, for example, two genomes. Biologists compare them using the “Levenshtein distance”, or edit distance. The editing distance between two genome sequences is the number of additions, deletions, insertions, and substitutions required to change one of them into the other.

Edit distance and Euclidean distance are two different concepts of distance, and one cannot be reduced to the other. This incompatibility exists for many pairs of distance metrics, and is a hurdle for computer scientists trying to develop nearest neighbor algorithms. This means that an algorithm that works for one type of distance will not work for another – or rather, it was until now, until a new kind of search appeared.

Squaring the circle

The standard approach to finding the nearest neighbor is to divide the existing data into subgroups. If, say, your data describes the location of cows in a pasture, then you can enclose each of them in a circle. Then we place a new cow in the meadow and ask the question: in which of the circles does she fall? It is practically guaranteed that the nearest neighbor of the new cow will be in the same circle.

Then repeat the process. Divide the circles into subcircles, divide these cells further, and so on. As a result, there is a cell with only two points: the existing one and the new one. This existing point will be your nearest neighbor.

Algorithms draw cells, good algorithms draw them quickly and well – that is, so that there is no situation in which a new cow falls into a circle, and its nearest neighbor ends up in another circle. “In these cells, we want near points to be more often in the same disk as each other, and far points rarely,” said Ilya Razenshtein, a computer scientist at Microsoft Research, co-author of the new work, which also contributed to Alexander Andoni from Columbia University. , Assaf Naor of Princeton, Alexander Nikolov of the University of Toronto and Eric Weingarten of Columbia University.

For many years, computer scientists have come up with various algorithms for drawing such cells. For low-dimensional data – where one point is determined by a small number of values, for example, the location of a cow in a pasture – algorithms create the so-called. “Voronoi diagrams” that accurately answer the nearest neighbor question.

For multidimensional data, where one point can be defined by hundreds or thousands of values, Voronoi diagrams require too much computing power. Instead, programmers draw cells using “locally sensitive hashing” first described by Indik and Rajiv Motwani in 1998. LCH algorithms draw cells randomly. Therefore, they are faster, but less accurate – instead of finding the exact nearest neighbor, they guarantee to find a point that is no further than a given distance from the real nearest neighbor. Think of it like a Netflix movie recommendation that isn’t perfect, but good enough.

Since the late 1990s, computer scientists have come up with such LCH algorithms that give approximate solutions to the nearest neighbor problem for given distance metrics. The algorithms were very specialized, and an algorithm developed for one distance metric could not be applied to another.

“You can come up with a very efficient algorithm for Euclidean or Manhattan distance, for some specific cases. But we did not have an algorithm that would work on a large class of distances, ”said Indik.

Since algorithms that worked with one metric could not be used for another, programmers came up with a workaround strategy. Through a process called “embedding,” they overlay a metric for which they didn’t have a good algorithm onto a metric for which they did. However, the correspondence of metrics was usually inaccurate – something like a square peg in a round hole. In some cases, the embedding did not take place at all. It was necessary to come up with a universal way to answer the question about the nearest neighbor.

An unexpected result

In the new work, scientists abandoned the search for special algorithms. Instead, they asked a broader question: what prevents the development of an algorithm on a certain distance metric?

They decided that the reason for this was the unpleasant situation associated with the expanding graph, or expander. An expander is a special kind of graph, a set of points connected by edges. Graphs have their own distance metric. The distance between two points on a graph is the minimum number of lines required to go from one point to another. You can imagine a graph representing the connections between people in a social network, and then the distance between people will be equal to the number of connections separating them. If, for example, Julian Moore has a boyfriend who has a boyfriend whose boyfriend is Kevin Bacon, then the distance from Moore to Bacon is three.

An expander is a special type of graph that has two seemingly contradictory properties. It is highly connected, meaning two points cannot be separated without cutting several edges. At the same time, most of the points are connected to a very small number of others. Because of this, most of the points are far from each other.

The unique combination of these properties – good connectivity and a small number of edges – makes it impossible to perform a fast nearest neighbor search on expanders. Any attempts to divide it into cells will separate points that are close to each other.

“Any way of cutting the expander into two parts requires cutting many edges that separate many closely spaced vertices,” said Weingarten, co-author of the paper.

By the summer of 2016, Andoni, Niokoloff, Razenshtein, and Wanjgarten knew that it was impossible to come up with a good algorithm for finding the nearest neighbor for expanders. But they wanted to prove that such algorithms could not be built for many other distance metrics—metrics for which computer scientists have been stymied when looking for good algorithms.

To find a proof of the impossibility of such algorithms, they had to find a way to embed the expander metric into other distance metrics. With this method, they could determine that other metrics have properties similar to those of expanders, which prevents them from making good algorithms for them.

Four computer scientists went to Assaf Naor, a mathematician at Princeton University whose previous work was well suited to the topic of expanders. They asked him to help prove that expanders could be built into different types of metrics. Naor quickly returned with an answer – but not the one they expected from him.

“We asked Assaf to help us with this claim, and he proved otherwise,” Andoni said.

Naor proved that expanders do not fit into the large class of distance metrics known as “normed spaces” (which includes such metrics as Euclidean and Manhattan space). Based on Naor’s evidence, the scientists followed the following logical chain: if expanders do not fit into the distance metric, then there must be a good way to break them into cells (since, as they have shown, the only barrier to this is the properties of the expanders).

South Park or South Park, Colorado (English South Park, Colorado) is a fictional city in the United States, with a population of more than 4000 people, in which the action of the animated series “South Park” takes place. Creators: Trey Parker and Matt Stone; the choice of setting may have been due to the fact that they both grew up in Colorado. The action of almost all episodes of the series takes place mainly in South Park, so its structure and common features are well known to South Park fans; despite this, information from the history of the city in the series is extremely fragmentary.

This fictitious city is based on the city of Fairplay ^[1] , located in the northern part of the South Park High Valley.

South Park was founded in the early 18th century by American pioneer Robert T. Pooner ^[2] .

Geography of the South Park

Mountainous terrain in the region. There is an active volcano on the outskirts of the city, in the episode “Volcano” it is called Mount Evenstone. Between the mountain and the city is a canyon (Eng. Nickles Canyon). A mountain river flows on the outskirts of the city, and there is also a Stark pond. With the exception of a few episodes of the series, South Park is always snowy.

Not far from South Park are the towns of North Park (north — north by analogy with south – south ) and Middle Park ( middle ).

City organization

South Park is divided into at least two parts, one of which is home to the poorest population (including Kenny McCormick’s family). There are at least two schools in South Park – South Park Elementary School and South Park Special School for the Disabled. Religious organizations are represented by the Catholic Church and the synagogue. A railway passes through the city, there is also a railway station and a platform. The city also has a book depository and a library. The episode “Volcano” shows the South Park Seismological Center, which is likely the workplace of the only scientist in the city, geologist Randy Marsh. The local police are represented, apparently, only by Officer Barbrady (not counting several representatives of the district police, including Yeitz and Murphy). The city has a hospital called “Travel to Hell”, where all the inhabitants of the city are treated (although in the episode “Conjunctivitis” you can see some kind of unnamed clinic), and also often in the series, Tom’s rhinoplasty clinic is shown, in which plastic surgery is performed (in In particular, it was there that Mr. Garrison, a primary school teacher, changed his nose). The city’s newspaper, the South Park Times, is published – seen in the episode “Professor Chaos”. There is also a South Park Psychiatric Clinic (“Weight Gain 4000”). The mayor of the city is Mayor McDaniels (her name is not mentioned in the series).

Flag

The original South Park flag featured four white humanoid figures lynching a black one. In the episode “The Chief Loses His Patience”, a scandal erupts because of this – the Chief believes that this image is racist, the inhabitants of the city believe that this is part of their history. Thanks to the fourth-graders of South Park, the situation is saved, and everyone comes to a compromise – white figures are replaced by multi-colored ones, among which there is one black one.

Famous residents

Jesus Christ lives in South Park for a long time (up to his death in the episode “Kill Santa Claus”), but people do not pay much attention to this and perceive him primarily as the host of the TV show “Jesus and His Friends”. They remember him only on the eve of the millennium. It is not known if Jesus settled in South Park again after his resurrection in the episode “A Wonderful Easter Story”.

Celebrities often come to South Park, but few of them stay there. Will Smith, Snoop Dogg, Kobe Bryant, Oprah Winfrey, and Puff Daddy briefly move into town in “The Neighbors Come” but move out in the same episode.

Places

Bus stop is the place where the main characters are waiting for the school bus. The stop is first shown in the episode “Cartman and the Anal Probe”, is a place where the characters tell each other news and sort things out. In the first episode, near the bus stop, Ike is abducted by aliens. The school bus often travels in the same direction both to and from the school.

Main Street – in the first episodes of the animated series, it is depicted in the city center, at the epicenter of city events. In a shortened version, 8 rooms are shown on the street, among which the Tom’s Rhinoplasty Clinic and the post office are noticeable. The main street is in front of the school, which can be seen in the episode “Breast Cancer Show”. However, in other episodes, other buildings can be seen in the same place, such as the Bennigan restaurant. In the episode “Professor Chaos” there is a competition for the best fourth friend across from the main street. Cartman’s headquarters is located in the house to the left of Tom’s Rhinoplasty Clinic in the Drug Addict Children’s Athletic Association. In many episodes where the city is under attack, the main destruction is shown precisely on the main street: for example, in the episode “Waiting for the new Terrence and Phillip movie”, the Chef’s TV, turned on to destroy humanity, attacks several buildings and sets fire to the post office.

South Park Elementary School

• South Park Elementary School is one of the main and earliest locations in the series. An American flag is always flown at the entrance to the school. There is a playground in the school yard, as well as an American football field; many showdowns between children, meetings take place on it. The territory of the school is limited by a red brick fence.
• 3rd Grade Room – The 3rd grade room does not appear from “Fourth Grade” when the main characters move to the 4th grade. It has green walls, numerous tables, photographs of various animals and (to a lesser extent) drawings of schoolchildren are hung everywhere. Above the board is an alphabet in which the letters are reversed (capital letters are in the correct order, and small letters are reversed). In some episodes, various words are hidden in the “mixed up” alphabet, for example, the phrase “Kenny Bastard”, more precisely, the Spanish translation of the phrase “Oh my God! They killed Kenny! • 4th Grade Room – This room appears in the episode “Fourth Grade”. Its decoration is based on the indigo color, the arrangement of the tables is different from the room of the third graders; the alphabet above the blackboard is written in a stylized script that children cannot understand. The writing board in this episode is destroyed by Timmy in a wheelchair in the same episode. Judging by the presence of various plants, aquariums and a Lemmivinks hamster in the classroom, it can be assumed that this classroom was converted from a biology classroom. • Kindergarten Room is the kindergarden room that first appears in “Schoolbag” when Mr. Garrison is assigned as a kindergarten teacher due to his homosexuality. There is one round table in the classroom, around which the teacher and children sit. The walls of the office are multi-colored, various pictures hang on them (animals, rainbows, letters, and so on). From the episode “Concentration Camp Tolerance”, when Garrison re-assigns a fourth grade teacher, the office does not appear in the series until the episode “Teacher Seduces Boy”. The appearance of the office does not change, but now Miss Stevenson teaches there; she commits suicide at the end of the episode, and it is unknown who teaches there now instead of her. nine0026
• Preschool Room appears in the episode “Kindergarten”. It contains toys and attractions, slides for riding and other entertainment. The office is burned down by Trent Boyett when Stan, Kyle, Cartman, and Kenny ask him to play “firemen”; as a result of the “game” the fire engulfs the room and burns teacher Miss Claridge almost to death.
• Labor Room can be seen in the episode “Tweek vs. Craig”. It has wooden tables and lots of carpentry. It is dangerous to be in the office: for example, the boy Tommy cuts off his face there, an incident also happens to Kenny, as a result of which he falls into a box of nails. • Home Economics also appears in “Tweek vs. Craig”. It is more like a regular class, except that all the tables there are in one row. Kenny was the only boy who studied there. In this office, judging by the episode “The List”, meetings of the girls of the school are held.
• Fourth Grade Second Room – This room appears in the episode “Proper Condom Use”; during sex education classes, the boys and their teacher, Mr. Mackey, are sent there, while the girls with Ms. Swallower remain in the main fourth grade classroom. • Art Room appears in “Toilet Paper” and is taught by Ms. Stribble. There are blue walls in the office, there are equipment for classes – easels and potter’s wheels. Butters is apparently the only kid who enjoys going there.
• Computer lab is featured in the episode “Make Love Not Warcraft”, Cartman and friends play Warcraft while using the computers.
• Gym first appears in the episode “Fetal Adherent Woman”. It is designed for physical education. Chef taught there until his death (in particular, teaching children how to play dodgeball). The gym is also intended for school-wide meetings. In particular, in the episode “Tie Up!” an anti-smoking action is held in the gym, in the episode “Enema and Shit” there is a presentation of a sports mascot. • Psychologist’s office . The workplace of the school psychologist Mr. Mackie; on its door is a large inscription “COUNSELLOR”, and next to it is a bench, on which you can often see Craig called for another offense. Inside there is a couch for visitors and a chair for a psychologist. Various posters and certificates hang on the walls certifying Mackie’s right to be a school psychologist. nine0026
• Director’s office – the room where director Victoria sits; since the characters of the series usually end up in this office for their faults, the school psychologist Mr. Mackie is also almost always present in the office. It contains a table and two chairs (Mr. Mackey usually sits on the second one), as well as a chair (or several) for visitors. • Book Depository is a four-story building that Officer Barbrady advises Mr. Garrison as a sniper position in “Weight Gain 4000”; there, Wendy and Stan try to stop Garrison from killing Kathie Lee Gifford. The episode shows the third floor of the building.
• South Park Asylum is featured in the episode “Weight Gain 4000”, where Mr. Garrison is being treated after the attempted murder of Kathy Lee Gifford. nine0026
• Tote (Sports book $) . In the episode “Big Homo Al and His Homoyacht”, Ned Gerblansky and Jimbo Kern show up to bet on the South Park high school football team. Many residents of the city are visible in the betting room, as well as a bartender who takes bets. On the walls of the tote there are monitors broadcasting sports matches and races at the hippodrome.
