ANO “Learning Together”

Non-profit organization created by parents of children with autism.

Since 2017, we have been working to improve the quality of life of families raising children with ASD –
we know their needs and problems from personal experience.

Our projects
How to help

ANO “Learning Together” –
Member of the Association
“Autism -Region”

ANO “Study Together” created by parents who once suddenly turned out to be tightly connected with the topic of autism. There were no professional teachers or defectologists among us, we did not understand the legislation in the field of education or the work of the non-profit sector – all this we had to learn along the way from our own examples and mistakes.

Back in 2015, we got together to answer the question – where can our children get an education, how can they join a team of peers in order to learn how to communicate and play, how to create a friendly environment that will accept them, can they really will have to spend at home or in the walls of a boarding school. We managed to find a school that agreed to try to build an inclusive environment in the format of the “resource class” model.

In 2016, our children went to the resource class. For all members of the team, this class was the first – for teachers, tutors, school administration, children, parents, parents of other children, for behavioral analysts who had not previously worked in a school format. We had the Resource Class manual, support from the Way Out Foundation, basic PAP training for tutors, the Inclusive Molecule project, the Turn Me Course for the class facilitator, and the strong belief that all children should learn together. And this together is necessary not only for children with ASD, but also for everyone else. It was touching to tears to see how ordinary children, who were with us together in the kindergarten, helped them at breaks and classes. How the attitude of teachers changed from horror and lack of understanding of what to do, to tolerance and a desire to help. How the school administration began to perceive the appearance of children with disabilities not only as a burden, but also as a resource and an opportunity for development.

Since 2017, we have united in ANO “Learning Together”. Over the years, we have established close relationships with parents from other classes and regions, thanks to which we can exchange achievements and consult in difficult moments, many parents themselves have been trained and become specialists, together with the school we are trying new formats and activities for children. We do not have the ideal inclusion of our dreams, many tasks and questions arise every day, but we are walking this path together step by step.

At present, our focus is not limited to education – we want people with autism and their families to be able to find help and support at all stages of their life journey.

Mothers of the ANO “Learning Together” team in the Psychologies magazine project. Interview with Alexandra Ivanskaya and Maria Vasilyeva

Maria is the director of ANO “Learning Together”. As a professional architect, she helps organize spaces and create a comfortable environment for children with ASD in the classrooms.
Today, Maria and her daughter Anya are the heroes of the plot of the MIR24 TV channel, dedicated to the day of disseminating information about the problem of autism.

Why do we demand evidence-based care for our children with autism? How can a registry of evidence-based practices help us all? Why is it so important to combine our efforts? How to help

What is Autism?

Autism (Autism Spectrum Disorder) is a developmental disorder.

Its main symptoms are disturbances in social interaction and communication, as well as limited interests and stereotyped behavior. The symptoms of autism appear for the first time in early childhood and tend to persist throughout a person’s life. Often, people with autism have impaired intelligence, speech development, and difficulties with self-care skills.

Autism is the fastest growing developmental disorder.

Autism can be in a child from any family, regardless of nationality, education and income, lifestyle of parents and approach to raising children.

The sooner we diagnose autism, and the sooner we can refer these children to appropriate support, the better their prognosis will be.

Children with ASD may have different symptoms and severity, different levels of speech and intellectual development – from high to mental retardation of varying degrees.

Tucson Early Learning | Discovery Learning Center

Teddy Bear Room

Infants 6 weeks to 1 year. We will support your child’s development and take care of their daily needs the same way you would. We will constantly communicate even by phone, with you all about their day (diapering, feeding and sleeping). Our infants have their own eating area. A rocking chair is provided for parents who wish to come visit or feed their infants. Lots of age appropriate toys are provided to keep your baby busy. We have created a new outside area, “Waddle Park” designed so infants have some shaded outside time each day.

Toddler Rooms

In our two toddler rooms, “we are big kids now and are drinking from cups”. “No bottles here.” We are starting to gain independence and are learning to use new vocabulary words. Our classrooms include manipulative materials to encourage active exploration and hands on learning activities to help your child gain independence.
Busy Bee Room: The room is smaller and home to the recent 12 month and walking toddlers. These children are starting to learn as a group. They are now exposed to routine for the first time.

Busy Bee Room

The room is smaller and home to the recent 12 month and walking toddlers. These children are starting to learn as a group. They are now exposed to routine for the first time.

Shooting Star Room

Here, in a larger room, there are a few more toddlers. They have really developed “their land legs” and are getting around more freely. They are developing some of the skills needed for future learning. Both of the above groups are beginning to develop their vocabulary. Both share an outside play area with equipment designed for their age level. It is separate from the infants or oldest children. They have a merry go round, climbing apparatus and tricycle riding area.

Angelfish Room

Two year olds are found in this room. Potty training is encouraged. We have found that children respond best to a non-demanding approach to potty training. These Toddlers enjoy circle time, music and art activities. They learn and play with fun but challenging toys and activities. They share the playground used by the Busy Bees and Shooting Stars. We also offer an opportunity for your child to learn while exercising their bodies as well as their minds.

Rainbow Room

The children in this room are potty trained three year olds. Age appropriate and manipulative materials encourage active exploration to help your child gain independence. Our classrooms are equipped with “Discovery Centers” enriched with inviting and developmentally appropriate materials. This group and the next four groups learn while exercising their minds as well as their bodies on our large playground.

Dinosaur Room

This room is used by our four year olds. These children are developing a lot of skills necessary to move on to Pre K. They have learned to work independently and work well as a group. Through their large windows they have a special view of our large playground and lovely Catalina Mountains.

Noah’s Ark Room

This is the room you first see when entering the building. This room also houses our four year olds who are getting ready for Kindergarten. Reading, Math and Critical thinking are a main part of their program. Here and in other rooms the “Magic Choice” and “High Reach” programs are used.

Wildcat Room

The room serves as a Pre K classroom in the morning and our after school children join us in the afternoon. These children along with all the other classes are served a nutritious snack to fuel their energy supply. There is plenty of time to play, work on homework, go outside and work on a craft project.

I wanted to share my impressions of Discovery October “We’ve been going there since September, we decided to try how it goes. Before that, we looked at many kindergartens in our area for a long time. It’s hard to give your child into the wrong hands, and it’s especially hard when this issue is related to education. My husband often travels on business trips and we are with him, on this they did […]

We would like to cordially thank miss Jeanelle! For her hard work in teaching Saveliy English. We are very happy and proud to watch his success. We watch with great interest his progress in writing, reading, counting and thinking in a second language! Also, we notice a personal attitude of miss Jeanelle, miss Marina, miss […]

Very good kindergarten. Everything is organized very competently, interesting leisure, for one adult – 4 children, and not 15, as in other kindergartens. Very good impressions from the head of the garden – gently sets the rules of the garden for parents, always meets halfway or offers a compromise. Good varied food. It is clear that not Michelin stars, but far from a bun […]

We go to Mother and Baby classes twice a week. I like the almost individual approach to each child. We also tried to go to kindergarten in the younger group. The staff here are friendly, and everyone is very friendly and helpful. But my children still don’t tolerate separation from me well, so we can’t fully appreciate Sadikovskiy […]

Finding an option that’s good and sensibly priced in Moscow is extremely hard, but Discovery Khodynskiy is definitely one of them. The atmosphere is extremely friendly, the kindergarten is very well kept and kids are definitely a priority there. We had 2 different native speakers in our time there, and both were very good. For an unprepared candidate, this seemingly banal question will cause a stupor. This will be followed by attempts to remember unique suitable words to describe yourself in the best light. You need to do this in a matter of seconds, before the HR manager loses interest…

So what’s the best way to describe yourself at work?

The best way to show yourself is to give specific examples of what you did in your last jobs and what results you got . If you need to describe your personal qualities, then these should be traits that will set you apart from other candidates.

Before you are invited for an interview, you must complete your resume . This is a great exercise for your self-description skills. When you write a CV, you carefully think over the words, add something, delete something as unnecessary.

But any description, whether on a resume or in a live meeting, is never an easy task. You may randomly select adjectives or phrases that are not important, positive, or professional to the interviewer. Or start talking non-stop when asked to describe yourself in just a few words.

But don’t worry, in this article we will train you!

How to best describe yourself in a resume and at an interview: 3 main rules

Rule #1: Know your audience

To identify the best words to use to describe, consider what your goal is and who you are talking to. Do you describe yourself to get a job or introduce yourself in front of recruiting social networks? Each script has a specific audience, and so you should use different words when describing yourself.

For resumes and cover letters, use words that highlight your skills and accomplishments.

During interviews, you may be asked to describe yourself briefly or in detail. Or sometimes you may be asked to describe yourself in one word, three or five.

First, pay attention to the question and answer exactly the one being asked. Before you start speaking, think about what skill/trait is most desired for this position. Start with a short sentence showing that you have this skill.

And in social networks, in order to attract recruiters, it is better to clearly define your professional qualities and the direction of the career that interests you in your description. Choose words that showcase your professionalism and ability, and weave in the general skills and personality traits that are considered essential to your career.

Rule #2: Know how you want to present yourself

Once you’ve figured out who you’re writing to, think about how to present yourself effectively. For example, if you’re interviewing for the role of an IT engineer, you might want to focus on your problem-solving skills and ability to work under stress. And give a real example from practice.

Or, if you want to demonstrate your leadership skills, then choose words like: strategic thinking, ability to motivate and build teamwork, experience in eliminating communication difficulties, work for results.

To imagine yourself as a creative thinker, try to include these phrases in your answer: the ability to generate ideas, an open mind to other people’s creativity, keeping track of new industry trends, a versatile approach to the problem.

Rule #3: Different words can create different impressions

Be careful when choosing adjectives to describe yourself because many words can have the same meaning but give different impressions. For example, “ambitious” and “aggressive” can be used to describe someone who wants to achieve a lot. But the word “aggressive” can give the wrong impression in certain situations.

Focus on the impression, not just the meaning the word creates. Find out as much as you can about the company you’re applying to beforehand – to learn about the culture, company rules, and decide which words are safe to use when you describe yourself.

Suitable words to describe yourself in different job search situations

Just like doing the right thing at the right time, you need to choose the best way to describe yourself in a given situation.

We have prepared word lists that will come in handy in three job search scenarios: when writing a resume, at an interview, or when filling out a profile on recruiting sites.

Be sure to remember the most important rule – think about what qualities a potential employer wants to see in this place . If this is a job that provides for clarity of action, knowledge of technical issues, etc., then it is unlikely that the employer is interested in knowing about your interests in esotericism and a penchant for psychology. The words used in the resume should be effective and concise, no need to write huge sheets of text, because. a recruiter, as a rule, does not stay too long on one resume. Where possible, use numbers and clear statistics. They can help the recruiter measure your abilities and accomplishments.

There are many examples of how to write a resume, but all have sections that are mandatory. For example, experience, skills, personal qualities.

Is there a difference between CV (Curriculum Vitae), Resume and Portfolio?

  • Yes, CV is your CV with a focus on your professional life. It contains information about your family, etc. status, training, hobbies, etc.

  • Resume is a summary of your professional achievements and abilities. You can include a track record in it and make it so that you can see how you moved up the career ladder.

  • Creative professions have another type of professional document – portfolio . It includes mainly examples of the most significant works. Biographical details are usually not given, and professional life is described very briefly.

By the way, work experience is a great topic for describing yourself in a very attractive and extended way. For example, when describing experience in the field of collecting and processing data, you can note “careful attention to detail” and tell which programs you are a confident user of.

When you come to an interview, be prepared for unexpected personal questions. Keep a “cheat sheet” to quickly navigate.

Examples of how to describe yourself in a few sentences when you come to an interview

Situation: “Describe your main (professional) quality”

    Answer:

I would say that I am a great team player. I feel very comfortable working with people and always bring a new, unexpected perspective and positive energy to the team. I also have a good understanding of team dynamics and can organize the process to ensure smooth performance and achievement of goals. As a Digital Marketing specialist, I often collaborate with people both in team projects and with individual specialists and skillfully build communication with everyone.

Look, when you are asked to define yourself by one quality, you do not just name this quality, but you also provide evidence and clear examples that you have this valuable attribute.

Situation: What three qualities describe you?

      Answer:

The first word I would use to describe myself is curiosity. I love to explore the world and new things, especially technology. That’s why I decided to pursue a career in IT. I am also quite flexible and adaptive. I can easily multitask even when the flow of tasks is out of my control. Finally, I decisively and adequately approach any task and do not give up so easily.

Keep in mind – do not describe yourself in three words that contradict each other. For example, it makes no sense to say that you are stress-resistant and at the same time emotional and take team tasks to heart. Moreover, choose the three characteristics that are most valuable for the position you are applying for.

Situation: Describe yourself in five words
      Answer:

If I have to describe myself in five words, I would say that I am enthusiastic about my work, I pay great attention to detail, I am motivated to achieve results and I equally appreciate the practical and creative approach to problem solving. I don’t even mind staying in the office after work to get things done because it’s in my best interest.

In this case, you do not need to explain each of your qualities and provide them with examples, but the conclusion still does not hurt here.

Keep in mind that if interviewers ask short-answer questions, it means they don’t have much time. Therefore, keep in mind a concise and capacious answer.

And finally, here are the taboo words that will significantly lower your bar in the eyes of a potential employer.

Words that should not be used to describe yourself

Avoid them when talking about yourself.

      1. General features

Most candidates usually choose the following words:

      • Calm

      • Careful

      • Ethical

      • Hardworking

      • Honest

      • Intellectual

      • Patient

      • Punctual

      • Serious

Of course, in ordinary life, such traits are quite good. But for the employer they are too general. They will not help you show yourself as a unique specialist who stands out from the rest of the candidates.

      2. Negative characteristics

It’s always great to be honest and stay true to yourself, but don’t talk negatively about yourself (and your former employers). You may come across as a toxic person that you don’t want to deal with. Some of the words on the list do not have a negative meaning, but still look disadvantageous for the candidate

Some words, such as showing your religious or political beliefs, will indicate to the employer that you will be difficult to work with.
