Dear parents, talk to your child about fire safety:

Do not leave children alone at home without supervision.

It is important that the child realizes that matches are not a toy and fire is not fun, so that he gets the impression of a fire as a serious disaster.

Children should be taught the safe use of household electrical appliances and gas stoves.

Describe the dangers of flammable liquids.

Teach your child how to behave in case of fire. Children should know their address and telephone number of the fire brigade. Explain to the children that when there is a fire, there is no need to hide, try to take something out of the house, or save some things. Children should concentrate on only one task – to get out of the house unharmed.

It is extremely dangerous if children remain in locked apartments or rooms. In the event of a fire, they will not be able to leave the fire-engulfed room outside.

Keep matches and lighters out of reach of children.

Do not let a child look after the firebox.

Tell your child about the dangers of making fires.

Barbara Lynn Herzstein, better known to the general public as Barbara Hershey, was born in Hollywood on February 5, 1948. The girl studied at the Hollywood High School, and it would seem that her fate was sealed from the very moment of birth.

Already at the age of 17, her first film debut took place – it was the serial comedy Gidget, after which Barbara was invited to participate in the filming of another series – Monroe (1966). It is noteworthy that working on Monroe depressed Barbara so much that the debutante even decided to write an anonymous message to the filmmaker demanding to stop filming.

The first film with Barbara Hershey comes out in 1968, after which several more characters of the actress appear – first of all, in the western Sky with a Gun (1969), on the site of which Hershey meets her future husband David Carradine, and later gives birth to his son Tom . In the same 1969, Barbara starred in the scandalous film Last Summer directed by Frank Perry, which tells about a love triangle between three teenagers.

Movies with Barbara Hershey total more than one hundred and twenty films. Here the viewer can observe a wide variety of genres – from heart-rending dramas to spectacular action films. She has starred in productions by Woody Allen (Hannah and Her Sisters), Barry Levinson (The Aluminum Men), Garry Marshall (On the Beach), Stephen Gyllenhaal (Dangerous Woman), Darren Aronofsky (Black Swan), James Wan (Astral) and many other acclaimed masters of modern cinema. And for his work in the pictures Shy people (1987) Andrei Konchalovsky and the Divided World (1988) by Chris Menges even became a laureate of the Cannes Film Festival.

Her last film to date has been the drama Sister (2014) by David Lasher, but the actress is already scheduled to star in The Ninth Life of Louis Drax in 2015.

Barbara Hershey has brown eyes, naturally blond hair, fair skin, and full lips. The shape of the face is rectangular, the forehead is high, the hair is curly, thick. Barbara Hershey changes her hair color to dark. The actress has a medium wide nose and a rounded chin. The height of the actress is 165 cm, no tattoos.

The beginning of the nineties in Russia is an unplowed field for foreign businessmen. A time when literally everything is in short supply. An inexperienced consumer swept any foreign product off the shelves, and this made it possible to enrich himself fabulously. It was in such conditions that the star of the Dutch entrepreneur Herman Schiffer rose. At 19In 86, he founded a small factory and sold soda in his native country. The name was an abbreviation of the first letters of his first and last name. Things were going badly, it was difficult to compete with such American giants as Coca-Cola and Pepsi. To survive, Schiffer sold his drink much cheaper than they did. But then, suddenly for the whole world, the Soviet Union collapsed. The Iron Curtain fell and the huge market of the former USSR opened up to foreigners. The Dutchman turned out to be quicker than overseas businessmen and, as they say, “flooded” him.

Schiffer orders an advertisement on television and it is played on all channels around the clock. The red-haired boy Sasha L about becomes the face of Hershey-Cola. Previously, he starred in the newsreel “Yeralash”. Now known throughout the country as a bully Vovochka Sidorov, who sits in the back of the desk and does not hesitate to loudly pronounce the name of the drink, which is slightly obscene to the Russian ear. By the way, in addition to Hershey Cola, Herschi orange and Herschi citron are sold. They copy “Fanta” and “Sprite”, but are cheaper. In the mid-nineties, Coca-Cola and Pepsi built factories in Russia, which allowed them to lower the price of their products. Schiffer’s firm carries drinks from Holland. This is expensive and Hershey-Cola could not compete.

At the end of the nineties, Herschi Cola was forced out of the Russian market. Yes, and at home, too, did not work out. In 1999, the brand was sold to the Dutch brewing company Bavaria, which produced all new lemonades under a different name.

Together with “Smart Books” children develop speech and memory, learn to draw with their hands and fingers, master the concepts of “up-down” and “left-right”, learn to find differences, get acquainted with numbers and letters, broaden their horizons. The goal of the Smart Books project is to comprehensively develop the child and prepare him for school in a timely manner, because the series is designed for children from 1 to 6 years old. 3. Series “School of the Seven Dwarfs”.

Mozaika-Sintez Publishing House

Perhaps the most famous series of educational aids in the Russian-speaking world, with which children get acquainted almost from birth. The series is aimed at developing all basic skills and includes 7 courses (one per year) of 12 books each. Benefits are issued with large, bright at the same time simple pictures, so kids really like it. In addition, the manuals include time-tested assignments, as well as parent pages that explain the scheme of work in detail. It is worth considering only one nuance: not all books in the course are equally in demand; therefore, many mothers agree that it makes no sense to purchase the “School of the Seven Dwarfs” in full sets. Study the proposed set and build on the interests and age characteristics of your baby. nine0005

“School of the Seven Dwarfs” 0+ : “Jokes for a little one”, “Colored pictures”, “What does it sound like?”, “My favorite toys”, “Who is doing what?”, “My first book”, “ Cat-cat”, “What color is this?”, “Square and circle”, “Day and night”, “Merry round dance”, “Fold the picture”

4.

Series “New child”, Elena Yanushko. Publishing house “Eksmo”

The series includes annual courses, each of which contains benefits for the development of precisely those areas that are most relevant for the age of the baby. So, for example, in the course for one-year-olds you will find aids for modeling, drawing and speech development, as well as reusable brochures for developing creative skills and detailed instructions for parents. The author of the series is Elena Yanushko, a recognized expert in the field of early development and the author of over 200 books on the subject. nine0005

5.

Series “Your Baby Can Do It”. Mozaika-Sintez Publishing House

In the series: “Draw with paints”, “Seasons”, “Plasticine hide and seek”, “Funny drawing”, “Stick a picture”, “Paint with palms”, “Geometric appliqué”

6. Series “We’re talking right.” Rosmen Publishing House

A more reliable method of speech development is simply not to be found. Very simple and understandable for parents – and very effective for children. Exercises to coordinate the muscles of the speech apparatus, improve phonemic perception, expand the vocabulary and form coherent speech are organized in a convenient sequence from simple to complex. Approved by leading speech pathologists. nine0005

Series : “Album on the development of speech for the smallest”, “Album on the development of speech”, “Album on the development of speech for preschoolers”, “Album on the development of speech for future first graders”, “Speech therapy primer”, “Speech therapy encyclopedia»

7.

A series of workbooks «Kumon». MIF Publishing House

Kumon is an international brand originally from Japan, behind which today there is a whole network of educational centers around the world, a unique method of learning mathematics and teaching reading, as well as a series of educational notebooks, which 4 million children study. The main principle of the benefits is to provide exercises in a playful way that is as attractive as possible for the child, so that the learning process does not become tedious for him. In addition, all exercises are given in a strict sequence “from simple to complex”, the load level increases so gradually that the child does not even notice it. Each age has its own set of notebooks: there are manuals for kids 2-4 years old, there are manuals for teenagers. With Kumon notebooks, preschoolers learn to draw, glue, cut, navigate mazes and more. nine0005

“Kumon” series for children from 2 years old : “Let’s draw” (2 issues), “Let’s glue” (4 issues), “Let’s cut” (4 issues), “Let’s add pictures” (2 issues)

Kumon Series for 2-4 year olds : Simple Lines, Magic Lines, Simple Mazes, Learn to Color, Learn to Cut

8.

Gakken Workbook Series. Publishing house “Eksmo”

Another Japanese series of educational aids – and also very popular. The tasks and the principle of their presentation are in many ways similar to Kumon, so the series are considered almost identical. It is curious that pupils of state kindergartens in Japan are currently studying Gakken notebooks – and there they certainly monitor the quality of preschool education. Therefore, feel free to purchase bright illustrated manuals with very cute characters on the covers – and develop the skills of coloring, drawing, passing mazes and creating applications with your baby. nine0005

Gakken series for children aged 2-4 : “Do it yourself and learn”, “Labyrinths”, “Learn to think”, “My first lesson”, “My first application”, “My first pencil”, “ Account, 1st step»

9. Series «Gifted child. Korean Teaching Methods. Eksmo Publishing House

Did you know that South Korea is one of the top five countries in terms of school performance? It is not surprising that their method of preschool and school education has become very popular. Take note of the Gifted Child series, the so-called “Korean” series. Its peculiarity is in the desire to simultaneously develop 3 main types of thinking of the child: logical (what we traditionally call the word “intelligence”), emotional (the child’s ability to work with his own and others’ emotions) and creative (imagination, mental flexibility, the ability to think outside the box) . At the same time, all tasks for all types of thinking are presented in a fun way, with a lot of stickers, and bright illustrations complement the image of a boring but effective manual. The series is designed for children from 1 to 7 years old. And remember: South Korean educators believe that any child can be developed to the level of a gifted child, you just need to create a favorable environment. nine0005

In the series for children 1-2 years old : “Mathematical thinking. Annual course”, “Mathematical thinking. Annual course. Advanced level”

In the series for children 2-3 years old : “I am learning to think”, “I am developing logic”, “I am developing attention”; “Logical thinking”, “Creative thinking”, “Emotional thinking”; “Mathematical thinking. Annual course”, “Mathematical thinking. Annual course. Advanced level”

10. A series of workbooks “I can!”. Publishing house “I can!” nine0003

The series appeared relatively recently, but immediately won a place in the hearts of preschoolers and their mothers. The manuals are really bright, very modern and incredibly exciting; this is the rare case when the child himself invites you to “work out.” Workbooks “I can!” teach children to cut and glue, find solutions, memorize, draw lines and complete mazes. Each manual contains high-quality illustrations and a set of stickers, and tasks, in addition to the main direction like passing a labyrinth, are often accompanied by additional questions that stimulate logical reasoning and coherent speech. Particularly picky critics may reproach the series for partially failing to comply with the important principle “from simple to complex” – but even this does not make them less charming. After all, nothing enhances the effectiveness of classes as much as a child’s deep enthusiasm – and according to this parameter, the series “I can!” receives 10 points out of 10 possible. nine0005

In the series for children 2-3 years old : “I CAN cut and paste!”, “I CAN memorize!”, “I CAN find solutions!”, “I CAN draw lines!”, “I CAN complete mazes !”, “I can cut and paste! Live Pictures»

“Play” is another site with educational free games for kids. Games are divided into categories: attention and memory, logic and thinking, riddles and rebuses, puzzles, for kids and others. There is advertising on the site, but if the page is handled correctly, the child may not notice it.

5. Chudo Yudo

Portal “Miracle Yudo” – a real treasure trove of educational materials for every taste. Crosswords and puzzles, mazes and recipes, tongue twisters and audio tales, crafts and puzzles for kids – every parent will find something to do for a child of any age! The site is replete with printable materials and descriptions of various offline activities. Even if you don’t use any other site for your child, you’ll provide homework activities for years to come because site tasks grow with your child. nine0005

Perform developmental exercises from Aikyusha

6. Child Development

The site “Child Development” is an old-timer in the Internet space for children and parents. A team of professional educators and psychologists never ceases to please us with reviews of educational toys and books, recommendations for didactic aids, as well as descriptions of exercises that are available to perform not only at home, but also outside the home. The site has a lot of developing cards and coloring pages for printing. nine0005

7. Electronic presentations

These electronic presentations have grown children who are now going to high school. Presentations of the highest methodological quality are presented in every variety of topics imaginable: food, the street, history, musical instruments, animals and much more. If your child reaches for the computer, but is still small for independent study, open the presentation and start writing short, child-friendly stories about each slide. You will see, the child will love these educational conversations as much as reading books! nine0005

8. In warehouses

The site “In warehouses” contains unique games for teaching children to read. Combining letters, warehouses and syllables, the children themselves do not notice how they begin to understand the principles of composing and reading words. The site is monetized through advertising, so parents need to set up the window in which the child completes the task before seating the baby at the monitor. But there are practically no analogues to these exercises in the Runet space.

9. Child development

Child development is the most concise and understandable name for a site that has everything a tireless parent needs. The site is full of specific practical recipes: how to teach to retell the text, teach how to cut with scissors, write numbers, organize a fun birthday party and much more. Most of the articles are live, written from the heart, and not for search robots – this is what attracts the attention of the site.

10. Pochemuchka

Come up with your children and their friends educational holidays, wall newspapers and various educational activities “Why Pochemuchka” will help you.

How soon can my child start Champions?

Your child can attend our program as early as 48 hours after you complete the online enrollment
    process.

    When is tuition due?

Tuition is charged weekly on Thursday mornings for the following week, and is due by Friday.
Payments can be made with a debit or credit card through your online account. We offer autopay
for your convenience, so you can store your payment account and it will be charged weekly.

What if I want to change my child’s care schedule?

Flexibility is the magic word for busy families like yours! At Champions, you can adjust your child’s schedule from week to week, with options for full-time or part-time care.

Every Wednesday, we lock in the schedule and prepare invoices for the following week. So, if you want to adjust the days your child will be joining us, make sure to save changes by the Wednesday prior to the week of care you’re scheduling.

If your child attends our program and you haven’t scheduled by the Wednesday prior, you will be charged a drop-in fee at a higher rate.

During inclement weather, it may be necessary to delay and/or close schools and our child care sites entirely. Champions will follow the delay schedule set by the school district: If school is cancelled, Champions will be cancelled.

However, Champions is often open all day on planned no-school days, including teacher planning, in-service, grading, conference days, and more!

Please check with your local Champions site director to learn how scheduling is handled in the event of either an early release or delayed opening, and always call your site director if you’re unsure about whether or not Champions will be open.

When do I need to pick up my child?

Please be available to pick up your child before or as near the program end time as possible. To
avoid late fees, arrive to collect your child within 15 minutes after the listed time. Fees will
apply for extended tardiness as follows: $10 for the first 16-30 minutes and an additional $10 for
    each 15 minutes following that.

    YMCA (English)

YMCA Big Charlotte is dedicated to the creation of inclusive and fair communities for people . The new YMCA American Welcome Centers expands immigrants’ access to vital social services and provides a wide range of community services such as English as a Second Language (ESL) and Parents as Teachers. The YMCA serves as a bridge builder between new immigrants and longtime residents.

Charlotte is located in the southwestern part of the state. It was named after Charlotte of Mecklenburg , wife of King George II. The modern city center known as Uptown is home to the best museums, shops and restaurants. So, let’s take a closer look at the streets of Charlotte.

Do you like fast cars, the smell of tires burnt on the pavement and the roar of engines? Yes? Then you probably know the famous American race NASCAR . In Charlotte you will find one of the shrines of this popular American pastime. Because here is the hall of fame where you can see historical racing cars like the Hudson Hornet model 1952 , 1967 Chevelle or Chevy Imapala SS, which belonged to the famous racing driver Dale Earnhardt. In addition, you will definitely enjoy racing simulators where you will feel like you are on the track. Plus, you’ll also learn how NASCAR teams prepare for races.

Another location associated with racing is also located about a kilometer from Charlotte Motor Speedway . This is the Hendricks Motorsports Museum, offering a detailed overview of how racing cars function, and you’ll also learn more about the technology and procedures NASCAR teams use to prepare for race day.

We will then take you to Billy Graham Library . It is dedicated to the famous television preacher. In general, here during the tour you will spend about an hour and a half, and you will see various items related to the life of Billy Graham.

Our next destination is Discovery Place . The ever-changing museum will allow visitors to see, feel and hear science because every exhibit includes interaction with visitors and trust that there will be something for all ages to enjoy. For example, Explore More Life Lab explores biodiversity, allowing you to run your own experiments. Part of the museum called “Project Build” examines the various laws of physics through the eyes of everyday objects. In the “Think It Up” section, you can unleash your creativity, for example, when creating animated videos. If you come here with small children, they will be fine here, because especially for them there is KidScience here.

If you are interested in the history of the city and the old South, we will be happy to direct you to the History Museum Charlotte Museum of History . It houses permanent exhibitions, one on the outskirts of the city, another on famous places associated with music, and an exhibition on amateur and professional sports, which, among other things, exhibits archival photographs of the local daily newspaper Charlotte Observer.

A Cary parent estimates her 6-year-old son was left alone at least 30 minutes in a park after being left behind in a daycare center field trip.

    The incident happened Wednesday afternoon.

A Good Samaritan stepped in to help 6-year-old Lucas.

Mom Jessica Button feels there was negligence.

“I don’t even know if I’m going to be able to trust another facility with my child, especially ones that goes on field trips because if they’re leaving kids on field trips, how are they doing it inside the building as well?” she said.

Button says the situation could have been avoided by doing a head count of the kids.

“I’m still very upset and torn about the situation. You never think it’s going to happen to you and it does,” said Button.

KinderCare says the staff involved in the incident no longer work at the Kilmayne Drive location.

The Company says in a statement:

“Nothing is more important to us than the safety and well-being of the children in our care, and we’re thankful the child is safe. This incident is not reflective of KinderCare’s values or the experiences we work hard to provide for our families every day and should have never happened. In fact, we have specific protocols in place to ensure our teachers are always aware of students’ whereabouts.”

Goldman sachs investment banking salary: Goldman Sachs joins Wall Street rivals in boosting junior banker salaries

Goldman Sachs joins Wall Street rivals in boosting junior banker salaries

          • First-year analysts, the most junior of investment bankers who are typically recent college graduates, will be paid a $110,000 annual base salary, up from $85,000, according to a person with knowledge of the changes.
          • The person added that second-year analysts will earn $125,000, up from $95,000, and first-year associates will get a $25,000 pay bump to $150,000.
          • The junior bankers have more news coming: They will learn about the size of their bonuses later this month, according to the person.

There’s a new minimum wage on Wall Street.

Goldman Sachs is giving its junior bankers a pay raise, the last major Wall Street firm to do so in a year where record deal-making activity has led to fierce competition for workers.

First-year analysts — the most junior of investment bankers who are typically recent college graduates — will be paid a $110,000 annual base salary, up from $85,000, according to a person with knowledge of the changes. The person added that second-year analysts will earn $125,000, up from $95,000, and first-year associates will get a $25,000 pay bump to $150,000.

The move establishes a new floor for compensation among major Wall Street investment banking programs. The industry was roiled in March when an internal survey done by Goldman analysts detailed long hours and burnout caused by the deals boom; rivals immediately seized on the controversy to announce perks including $20,000 special bonuses and Peloton bicycles.

But Goldman, which has perhaps the top brand in investment banking, resisted following its rivals in raising pay.

Instead, CEO David Solomon initially told employees the firm was hiring more bankers, automating menial tasks and recommitting to a “Saturday rule” to give workers a weekend respite. The bank had debated internally whether to boost salaries, which are fixed, instead of just making bonuses larger, the Financial Times reported last month.

In the meantime, rival banks including Morgan Stanley, JPMorgan Chase, Citigroup and Barclays all boosted first-year analysts’ pay to $100,000 from around $85,000.  That followed raises from Bank of America and other firms earlier in the year.

The industry can afford to be generous: The business of advising on mergers and acquisitions has been red hot this year, with the volume of deals globally soaring past $2 trillion amid a record first half. Investment banks get paid lucrative fees at the close of deals, and larger deals result in more dollars for compensation pools.

Banks often move in lockstep when it comes to pay and perks, hoping to lure enough talented workers to develop a pipeline of experienced dealmakers.

In the end, Goldman not only met competitors’ pay, but also exceeded it. The move could ultimately force rivals to match the bank’s $110,000 salary for first-year bankers, according to a Wall Street recruiter who declined to be identified.

Junior Goldman bankers also have more news coming: They will learn about the size of their bonuses later this month, according to the person. The percentage of pay a banker makes in so-called variable compensation grows as they climb the ranks.

“We have always paid very competitively,” Solomon said last month during an earning conference call. “We have always been a pay-for-performance organization.”

Goldman juniors get $500k, Goldman execs get equity. When not to flex the expense account

The more time that passes, the more it becomes apparent that a lot of people at Goldman Sachs have received huge bonuses for the past year. Those with the biggest payouts, though, are Goldman’s executives, who appear to be paying themselves something extra to prevent themselves from leaving.

The new pay ranges for high performers in investment banking at Goldman Sachs are around $500k for associates and $1m for vice presidents.  We reported on the VP numbers last week; Financial News reported on the associate numbers last Friday. It’s worth remembering that you can become an associate at Goldman Sachs with just two and a half years’ experience, and a VP with just another two years on top of that. Presumably it’s not the newly promoted associates and VPs who are getting these amounts, but still – recipients are likely to be in their mid to late 20s.

While all the fuss is made about the numbers at the bottom of the Goldman hierarchy, however, the real pay drama is quietly unfolding at the top. Last October, Goldman offered chief executive David Solomon and COO David Waldron an extra $50m in an ‘enhanced retention’ package in case they felt like leaving. This month, it offered Goldman Sachs’ partners already on $950k salaries and far higher bonuses a one-off top-up stock bonus to prevent them drifting away to fintechs and to maintain the differential between pay for partners and pay for managing directors. And now, Goldman has offered members of its management committee new equity awards that could be worth a lot in a few years’ time if the firm hits certain targets.

No one knows how much these extra amounts at the top of Goldman pyramid are worth, but it’s safe to say that they’ll be earning a lot more than the well paid associates and VPs towards the bottom. The real question is why Goldman’s top people need extra incentives to stick around at this level when last year’s proxy statement suggests they’re comfortably earning more than $10m, plus they all have the prestige of sitting on the management committee.

Bloomberg suggests Goldman was spooked into making the extra senior payments by the unexpected exit of senior staff like Greg Lemkau, the co-head of its investment banking division, last year. Coincidentally, Lemkau, who is now chief executive officer of MSD Partners LLP – the $15bn investment firm that started life as Michael Dell’s family office – has been chatting with the Financial Times about his exit.  “I think it was the uniqueness of the opportunity at MSD,” says Lemkau about his rationale for leaving GS. “I wasn’t looking to leave…in fact when Michael first called me about MSD, I said, “I’m flattered and thanks, but no thanks, I like my current job.”” Dell asked Lemkau to think about it and to come back to him. Lemakau thought and decided it was actually a rare opportunity to work with one of the “world’s great business builders” on a mature investment platform.

MSD generated 28% returns last year, and Lemkau has “skin in the game”, but he told the FT his decision to leave Goldman was less about making money and more about “professional challenge, intellectual challenge” and building the firm. In his case, it’s not clear that a top-up equity payment would have made much difference anyway, but if you’re a senior executive at Goldman they’re presumably nice to have.

Separately, António Horta-Osório’s exit from Credit Suisse is starting to look like it was a lot to do with crossing grey lines in the use of company expense accounts. The Wall Street Journal reports that Horta-Osório had been using the Credit Suisse private jet to fly around for work meetings in London or Lisbon that just happened to coincide with meeting-up with his family. On several occasions, a Credit Suisse plane reportedly dropped him off on Thursday, flew back empty to Zurich, and then returned to pick him up and take him to work again on Monday morning. The planes were rented and had to fly back to Zurich for the weekend and Horta-Osório wasn’t breaking any Credit Suisse rules, but he did appear to be making very good use of the bank’s amenities. This eagerness to take advantage of what was on offer was also in evidence when Horta-Osório reportedly took family members to the Wimbledon Tennis finals and the finals of the UEFA Soccer Championships on tickets purchased by Credit Suisse for clients who couldn’t attend due to COVID. Yes, he broke quarantine rules in the process, but an apparent keenness to avail himself of bank freebies also seems to have been part of the issue.

Goldman Sachs plans to lay off hundreds of employees

Up to 5% of investment bank employees may lose their jobs due to a decrease in the number of transactions in the financial market

Investment bank Goldman Sachs plans a series of layoffs in the near future, which threatens to lose hundreds of jobs employees, according to the Financial Times, citing sources in the bank. The layoffs are connected with the reduction in the number of transactions in the financial market. The investment bank intends to resume work on the search for inefficient employees, which was stopped during the coronavirus pandemic: then the bankers struggled to cope with the workload and there was no question of the lack of work for them. “Selection of inefficient employees” means that 1-5% of the employees of the entire company will lose their jobs.

As of the end of June, Goldman Sachs employed approximately 47,000 employees in its investment banking, trading, asset management, retail banking and operations businesses. The chief financial officer of Goldman Sachs announced in July that he plans to lay off some of the staff due to cost cuts. To this end, it is planned to re-evaluate the effectiveness of bank employees at the end of 2022.

Investment Bank has suspended the hiring of employees who were supposed to replace the departing bankers. Planned layoffs signal stronger financial worries about declining deal-making activity and slower economic growth in the US and Europe. Especially after a successful year for the banking business in 2021.

Goldman Sachs’ investment banking revenue for the first six months of 2022 was down 38% yoy, less than peers JPMorgan Chase and Morgan Stanley. Asset management revenue fell 83%. Earnings fell particularly sharply in the equity capital market due to the lack of new IPOs. At the same time, Goldman’s trading arm increased revenue by 15% and accounted for nearly three-quarters of the bank’s total net revenue in the first six months of 2022.

The bulk of employees’ salaries come in the form of bonuses at the end of the year. At the end of the year, some employees may even be fired altogether. Compensations for the first six months of 2022 at the bank were down 31%, a sharper drop than the 25% drop in net revenue. Morgan Stanley chief executive James Gorman said in July that the bank’s “most powerful weapon” in the fight against the crisis is wage cuts.

As previously reported, Goldman Sachs reported a sharp decline in net income and an increase in loan loss provisions in the second quarter of 2022. The reasons why the company’s performance sags are the same as those of their competitors: rising inflation, the expected recession in the US and global markets, which significantly reduced the number of transactions in the mergers and acquisitions (M&A) sector, as well as in the capital markets.

What is Goldman Sachs. Explained in simple terms

          October 4, 2022

          Secret of the Firm

Goldman Sachs is one of the world’s largest investment banks. More than other large financial structures is focused on working with big capital and the stock market. Over 150 years of history, Goldman Sachs has earned a reputation as an investment bank for wealthy clients. But since 2020, he began to move from trading and investment banking exclusively to providing a variety of new services: from current account management and cash management to the introduction of credit cards available to everyone. In 2021, Goldman Sachs became the first major investment bank to have a cryptocurrency trading department. But more often than not, Goldman Sachs gets into business news as a bank that lists the world’s largest companies on the stock market. Even the Russian “Cyan” and Ozon held an IPO with the participation of Goldman Sachs. Usage example on The Secret “I have long wanted to participate in the IPO of companies, but it is virtually impossible to invest in successful companies if you do not have an investment account for a round sum in Goldman Sachs or Morgan Stanley. This means that we need to go to the venture capital market* and find successful companies that will grow later and will go to IPO.” (Venture investor Denis Beloglazov – about his work History of Goldman Sachs in 1869founded in New York by a former German schoolteacher Markus Goldman. At the beginning, the company traded in bills, and then also engaged in consulting and intermediary services. In 1885, the founder’s son and second son-in-law entered the business, and the firm’s name changed to Goldman Sachs & Co. At the beginning of the 20th century, the firm began listing companies, and its representatives began to sit on the boards of directors of its large clients, a practice that continues to this day. In 1930, Goldman Sachs & Co shifted its focus from trading to investment banking. But the next big deal didn’t happen until 1956 – Goldman Sachs provided Ford Motor Company IPO in the amount of $ 700 million. Goldman Sachs itself became public only in 1999, putting on the market 12.6% of the shares worth $ 3.6 billion (shares were valued at $ 53 each). The increase in capital gave a strong impetus to the development of the company: the number of employees of Goldman Sachs became three times more. Nuances Goldman Sachs is notorious for its tough work schedule for junior and mid-level employees. In 2015, one of the bankers died from overwork, and in early 2021, bank analysts complained that they had to work 95 hours a week and only 5 hours of sleep left. Top management sent out baskets of fruit and snacks to those who complained about processing. But later they still raised their salaries. Now those who start their careers at Goldman Sachs are earning the highest salaries in the market. Goldman Sachs regularly gets into other corporate scandals. From the latest: In 2015, Goldman Sachs and other investment banks were caught in fraud in the Forex market. They had to pay the affected investors $2 billion. From November 2007 to March 2017, Goldman Sachs made 220.2 million errors in transaction reports. For this, the British authorities fined him $44 million. The bank was convicted of fraud with the Malaysian investment fund 1MDB. US authorities have proven that Goldman Sachs was involved in raising billions of dollars for 1MDB, which officials close to the Malaysian government subsequently withdrew.
