Our program is only for potty trained 3 and 4 year old children. Your child needs to be 3 on or by September 30th of the year you want to enroll.
Things to consider before applying:
1. Our program typically begins in September and runs until the end of April or beginning of May. This is based off the SCPS calendar being from August to May. Our preschool year may change if the county changes their school calendar.
2. We will meet on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays with our AM group from 7:40 AM to 10:10 AM and with our PM group from 11:20 AM to 1:50 PM These hours are subject to change if the high school hours change. You must provide your child’s transportation to and from school.
3. We follow Stafford County Public School’s calendar and we may have additional closing due to things happening the school, for example; we close for review and mid-term exams.
4. Our program is supervised by a certified teacher but the preschoolers’ main teachers are high school students.
5. There are approximately 22 preschool students and 14-20 high school students in the room at one time. It gets loud and there is a lot going on at once. If your child is extremely sensitive to noise or gets very easily distracted, this may not be the program for them.
6. Attendance and punctuality is extremely important in this program. The high school students rely on the preschoolers being here to complete assignments and to be a part of their small groups. Please know that excessive absences and tardies, not due to illness or special circumstances, will cause your child to be removed from the program and be replaced by a child on the waiting list.
7. The fee for this program is $220 for the year currently, but could be raised for next year by the county.
8.If your child is accepted, you will need to pay a $50 non-refundable hold fee within 1 month of acceptance notification or your child’s spot will be given to another child on the wait list. The $50 will go towards the $220 total which will be due at the parent orientation in August/September 2021. Exact dates are to be determined.
9. Filling out the application does not guarantee your child a spot in our program. We accept returning students first, siblings of currently enrolled students second, and then we accept based on application order while trying to keep the ratio of males and females and 3 and 4 year olds fairly equal.
I will contact you through e-mail to let you know if your child has been accepted or wait-listed.
The application for the 2023-2024 school year will be available on February 6th at 8AM, here on this webpage.
Thank you for your interest in The Little Wolverine’s Den.

The Little Wolverine’s Den is a preschool program for children that are 3-5 years old and potty trained. Our program typically begins in September and runs until the end of April or beginning of May. This is based off the SCPS calendar being from August to May. Our preschool year may change if the county changes their school calendar. We meet on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays with our AM group from 7:40AM – 10:10AM and our PM group meets from 11:20AM – 1:50PM These hours are subject to change if the high school hours change. We follow the SCPS calendar and weather closings/delays.
The preschool students are taught by the high school students that have chosen to take this class, applied, and were accepted. The high school students are in charge of making their own small group lesson plans as well as big group lessons when it is their turn. Small group lessons consist of Language arts, Math, Science, Social Studies, Art, Gross and Fine Motor Skills. Big group consists of singing, dancing, story time, calendar, and games.
Mrs. Miller is the high school students’ teacher and the director of the LWD. Our program is very unique and provides preschoolers with a smaller teacher to student ratio, 2 teachers (high school students) to every 2-5 preschoolers. We are very proud of the teacher-preschooler bonds that are formed here and the physical, cognitive, social, and emotional growth that we see in our preschoolers every year. In short, The Little Wolverine’s Den is the World’s Best Preschool in the World’s Best High School!

Description:
I am prior military and understand the importance of having reliable and quality care for your children. I am a mother of four, ages 23, 19, 13, and 11. My family and I have been in the Stafford, Virginia areasince 2012. We are CPR/ First Aid certified. We provide services for infants and children, ages 6 weeks-12 years old, I tailor my program to fit each child’s individual needs. There is a routine we follow on a daily basis; I provided breakfast, a.m. snack, lunch, and p.m. snack. I love kids and love having them in my home. I have excellent references upon request.
Philosophy
My family daycare home provides a developmentally based program in an environment designed especially for young children.
We work to develop caring, respectful, and responsive relationships with children from infancy though preschool by partnering with families to support a child s growth and development.
Respect for each child s individualized pattern and timing of growth, as well as individual personality, learning style, interests, culture, logic and family background are central to the fabric of daily interactions and the direction of the curriculum follows.
We support each child s disposition to learn while (1) facilitating it s learning and (2) fostering competencies in all domains, including intellectual, physical, social and emotional development.
We value the interaction between the individual and environment, seeing it as the basis for more complex learning and growth. Children come to own a newfound understanding and knowledge when it is integrated into their daily experiences and existing paradigms in active and meaningful ways. This social constructivist philosophy forms the basis for our curriculum and our emphasis on all aspects of the environment.
The schedule and space is structured to allow children to pace themselves and select activities based on their individual needs. Knowledge is not given to children; they learn through playful and meaningful interactions with materials and people. This means that each child processes experiences uniquely.
Mission
The mission of LAUGH N LEARN DAYCARE is to provide comprehensive childcare for children and families. Description:
I’m a former Fairfax County Public School elementary teacher of 5 years and a still hold a current teaching license/degree. I’ve loved being a teacher, but I am enjoying this next chapter in home daycare! I’vebeen an in-home daycare provider for the past 2 years, but recently relocated and am looking forward to a new adventure here in Stafford.
I’m the oldest of 4 and spent a lot time helping my mother with my younger siblings and she also had a daycare in our home that I helped with growing up – so I’ve always loved working with children.
I spent my summers off from teaching as a personal nanny. I loved being a part of their families during those summers. I helped with laundry, lunch/snacks, playing, learning, and some travel. Between nannying for families with multiple children and having anywhere from 27-32 students in my classroom, I have plenty of experience handling more than one child at a time – successfully!
I am opening my home to you each morning at 6:30 AM, but can make other arrangements if needed – I know teachers need flexibility for before school meetings, field trip days, etc.
I love being outdoors, crafting, and reading in my free time, but that is very limited these days! I have two little ones – 2 years old & 4 months old – and I cannot wait to include your precious little one in all of our daily laughs, play, and learning!
Please contact me with any questions! I have referrals, student notes, and parent letters to speak to my character if you’d like to see them as well!
Thank you for reading and I look forward to hearing from you. …

Please accept sincere and heartfelt congratulations on your professional holiday – the Day of the Educator and all preschool workers!
A person’s life begins from kindergarten, here he learns to communicate with peers and adults, acquires the first skills and abilities, and develops. The way he grows up depends largely on your knowledge, experience, love and patience. When sending a child to a preschool institution, parents must be sure that it is cozy, comfortable and safe there. Therefore, it is very important that children are met by people who love children, who can find a common language with them, interest them, develop talents and abilities.
I express my deep gratitude to you for your professional skills, sincere generosity, patience, warmth and care for our children. I wish you further success in your professional field, inspiration, the joy of creativity and the love of students! Happiness, health and prosperity to you and your families!

TestimonialsMy three children all currently attend Green Gable Children’s Center while my husband and I work. Green Gable was recommended to us through a co-worker of my husband, and we have been very happy with the care our children receive. The teachers are patient, caring and friendly; they always greet us with a kind smile in the morning when we arrive. They always seem open to questions and feedback from parents. The teachers do a great job teaching math, the alphabet and doing lessons and crafts based on the theme of the week. My oldest son started kindergarten this year, and I feel that his lessons at Green Gable prepared him well for kindergarten. My husband and I feel grateful for the peace of mind that Green Gable provides. Sarah FinchamGreen Gable parent Green Gables has been an integral part of our life for the past 7 years. One of the most difficult parts of being working parents is finding an environment that provides excellent care, as well as love and nurturing. We have found that in Green Gables! The teachers and staff have created an environment that nurtures my children’s creative, intellectual and social development. In addition, extra amenities such as school transportation, homework assistance and providing medical needs (nebulizer/medications) help make my life easier! I leave Green Gables in the morning knowing without a doubt that my children will receive the best care and lots of love! Lindsay and Joe WilliamsEastern Washington University Green Gables has been an integral part of our lives for the past seven years. As two full-time working parents, it has been such an important partnership for us. Our kids have had excellent teachers and directors who really make the effort to connect with them, and we’ve even had teachers attend the kids’ sporting events! As an added bonus, we have also established great friendships with other Green Gables families through our kids’ friendships that they have fostered there. The vanning service for our school aged children is a great service, and it provides us a great comfort to know that when our daughter is done with her school day (2nd grade), she gets to be back with her little brother, who will be starting Kindergarten this Fall. The structure and additional education that this center provides for school-aged children is very important to us, in addition to the loving atmosphere provided to all. The toughest thing that a parent ever has to do is leave their child, but we would not hesitate for a second to recommend leaving them in the care of Green Gables. Penny and Adam HenczGreen Gable Parent My son has been enrolled in Green Gable since he was six months old; he is now in Kindergarten. Throughout his stay at Green Gable, I have been impressed with the teachers; they clearly care about the children and they have educational backgrounds (e.g., degrees in education, early childhood development, or related fields) that assist them with finding fun, creative, and developmentally appropriate activities for the children. I was pleased to find that the preschool program really did help to prepare my son for Kindergarten. In addition, the building is well kept, providing a welcoming and comfortable atmosphere for children to learn and play. My son has made many good friends at Green Gable, and there are times when I come to pick him up and he asks if he can play “just a little longer. ” I have been pleased with our experience with Green Gable and I would recommend it to other families who are searching for a caring learning environment for their children. Anna Fritts, Ph.D.School Psychologist, Spokane Public Schools My husband Derek and I cannot say enough good things about Green Gable Child Care Center. We love the school. They have a warm, friendly, loving environment and professional staff. Green Gable understands children and lets them be children. They are like a second home for our son, we have seen him grow so much while in their care. The teachers are like family to us. Most days, he does not want to leave because he is having such a good time. If you are looking for a high quality child care center that will treat you and your children with love and respect, Green Gable is the place Deborah and Derek BanningGreen Gable Parent It is never easy as a new parent to leave your child at daycare, but my experience with Green Gables has been very positive. My daughter has thrived academically and socially. She has attended Green Gables for over a year and has close relationships with the teachers and other children at the center. As an elementary teacher I am very impressed with the curriculum. Weekly informational sheets with learning objectives are available for each group, so I always have talking points with my daughter about what she is learning in school each day. I value the caring teachers and owners every day. Knowing that my daughter is engaged in learning and social activities throughout the day with her peers makes it easier to go to work. They have a hands-on approach to their business and care about the well -being of children. All of the things children need to be healthy are thought of daily. Meals are prepared by a chef from scratch. The center has a quiet nap time during the middle of the day. Green Gables Children’s Learning Center is a great place for children. M. But, despite their resilient nature, they can sometimes struggle in poorly maintained habitats and inadequate aquarium conditions. Depending on what’s affecting them, goldfish will display an array of symptoms, one of which has to do with their swimming pattern. If your goldfish is not swimming, swimming to the water surface too frequently, or remaining near the substrate for too long, something’s not right. And, if you know anything about fish diseases, you know that early diagnosis and treatment are vital. Most fish disorders are both contagious and deadly when left unchecked. Today, we will look into the goldfish’s odd behavior under certain circumstances to see what it means. Reasons Goldfish Not SwimmingGoldfish aren’t exactly the most active fish in the world, but they aren’t sluggish either. Their typical behavior involves patrolling their environment, interacting with other fish, and checking their habitat at a comfortable pace. While they sometimes take a short rest near the substrate or plants, it’s unusual to see them refusing to swim for prolonged periods of time. Except if it’s nighttime and they’re in for some short naps. Other than that, if your goldfish refuses to swim, consider the following problems:
This goes to show that identifying the cause of their stress is essential. In many cases, their stressed behavior is indicative of other, more serious underlying conditions that need addressing fast. Ignoring your goldfish’s signs of stress can quickly devolve into more serious problems, primarily because of how extended stress affects the fish. Goldfish living in conditions of stress experience weaker immune systems and are always more vulnerable to diseases and parasites. This is a key point to focus on since many tank fish already have a variety of parasites in their intestinal tract, including those responsible for conditions like Ich, dropsy, and swim bladder disease. The problem is that they’re not active since the fish’s immune system keeps them in check, preventing them from reproducing. A stressed fish won’t have its immune system by its side. This will allow the parasites to take over, multiply, and infect the whole tank, killing their hosts in the process. As you can see, fish stress is not a benign issue. Poor Water QualityGoldfish require stable water parameters to thrive. Drastic changes in their water parameters will cause numerous health problems, most of which begin with subtle behavioral changes. If your goldfish appears less active than it used to be, consider the following:
So, how do you fix this problem? I have several solutions for you that you should consider as a whole, taken together:
Naturally, you should adapt these methods to your situation, depending on your tank’s size, how many fish you have, how big the fish are, etc. But you should stick to a healthy maintenance routine no matter what. Aggressive Tank MatesGoldfish are friendly aquatic creatures that prefer the company of like-minded fish. Pairing goldfish with species like tiger barbs or various species of cichlids is set to spell disaster soon. The more aggressive fish take the voluminous and friendly goldfish for target practice. They will poke at them, nip at their fins, and force them into hiding, which will eventually affect the goldfish’s mental health. To avoid that, I suggest avoiding aggressive tank mates. It’s the easiest and most obvious solution. Don’t pair your goldfish with territorial, aggressive, or even overly inquisitive fish. Instead, go for species like danios, Corydoras, loaches, and other fish that match goldfish in terms of water requirements and personalities. You should also observe how the goldfish react towards one another. Male goldfish won’t become the best friends in the world. They will often display territorial behavior and become competitive over food, hierarchy, and females. In this case, providing your fish with plants and various decorations to break the line of sight between bullies and the bullied can mitigate the violence. If the aggressors don’t cool off, you might want to remove them from the environment, especially if they’ve had a lot of recent episodes of violence. Disease or ParasiteGoldfish can’t complain when dealing with diseases or parasites, so they will display their discomfort via other means. One of them is the refusal to swim and remaining close to the substrate for longer periods. At this point, you should begin looking for additional symptoms, such as:
These symptoms aren’t specific to one condition but multiple. So, additional tests are necessary to determine your goldfish’s health problem. Whatever the case may be, you should consider the following approaches:
You should also provide a balanced and nutritious body to help the goldfish fight off the disease. As a plus, monitor your goldfish’s progress during treatment to determine when it has managed to overcome the problem. Ammonia PoisoningThis deadly problem is more prevalent among novice aquarists, skipping too many tank maintenance sessions. Ammonia is the natural byproduct of dead organic matter decaying in the tank’s water. This includes unconsumed fish food burying itself in the substrate, fish poop, dead plant matter, and even dead fish not being removed quickly from the tank. Your tank has a natural biofilm consisting of billions of nitrifying bacteria consuming ammonia and converting it into nitrites and then nitrates. The latter isn’t as damaging, so your goldfish can tolerate them at average values between 8 to 20 ppm. However, the problem is far more severe when it comes to ammonia. Any value past 0 will affect your goldfish’s health and is capable of inducing ammonia shock and symptoms of ammonia poisoning. Some of these symptoms include:
These are worrying symptoms, warning of the possibility of ammonia poisoning. In case of extreme levels of ammonia, your goldfish will experience coma and even sudden death. And the problem is that ammonia can kill fish fast. The treatment should come in early and consists of quarantining the fish in a clean and balanced environment with optimal water conditions. Provide the fish with a balanced diet and use medication to treat any secondary infections if necessary. But, ultimately, the most effective ‘treatment’ comes in the form of prevention. Your goal should be to prevent any ammonia formation in the tank, which requires you to:
And don’t forget the bit about goldfish being an extremely messy fish that I’ve already mentioned. Why is Goldfish Laying on the Bottom of the Tank? There are several reasons for that, most of which we have already mentioned. To summarize:
If you’ve eliminated all these problems off of the list, there are 2 more you might want to consider:
Why is Goldfish Swimming at the Surface? If your goldfish appears to spend a lot of time near the water’s surface, there’s only one explanation for that – poorly oxygenated waters. All fish breathe dissolved oxygen that hasn’t formed the h3O molecule yet, and the tank holds more dissolved oxygen at the surface. The issue is that, in a healthy aquatic environment and under optimal environmental conditions, the water should have dissolved oxygen deeper as well. If that doesn’t happen, there’s only one possible explanation – the water is poorly oxygenated. There are several reasons for that, including:
All these problems can be fixed via an adequate filtering system, providing aeration and keeping the water clean and fresh. Why is Goldfish Hiding and Not Swimming? This is a sign of fish stress more often than not. As we’ve already discussed, goldfish can experience stress for a variety of reasons, including poor water quality, improper tank mates, ammonia, or poor oxygenation. Female goldfish will also hide from males when gravid and ready to lay their eggs. To differentiate between normal and abnormal behaviors, I suggest assessing your fish’s behavior more in-depth to look for additional symptoms. You will then take appropriate measures to fix the situation before aggravating it, which usually involves quarantining the fish in the process. Is My Goldfish Sleeping or Dying? This is a common issue among novice aquarists with little experience in goldfish or even fish in general. Fortunately, I have an easy fix for you. When it comes to differentiating between dying or dead fish and sleeping ones, you should consider:
If you’re unsure what to make of your fish’s state despite these indicators, place your hand in the water and give the fish a couple of nudges. If it doesn’t react to the stimuli, your fish may have already died. At this point, it’s imperative to remove the body from the tank to prevent the dangerous formation of ammonia and other chemicals that could poison the water. ConclusionGoldfish are active but laid-back fish that will roam around their environment at a steady rate. A healthy goldfish should remain active and only rest for short periods. If your goldfish appears inactive for prolonged periods, monitor its behavior to detect anything abnormal. This allows you to diagnose any potential health issue in its early phases and increase the treatment’s success as a result. Is It Normal for Goldfish to Hang Out at the Bottom of the Fishbowl?By Kristie Karns i Jupiterimages/Stockbyte/Getty Images Goldfish are hardy fish, capable of thriving in water conditions that kill many other fish. They can survive in algae-filled water and muddy conditions, but they do need room to swim. Goldfish can grow to between 6 inches and 18 inches, depending on the species. Bowls are incompatible with goldfish besides the fact that they don’t allow much swim space: The small space allows nitrates to build up quickly, poisoning the fish. Nevertheless, whether inhabiting a bowl or an aquarium, a goldfish hanging at the bottom of the bowl is in most cases unusual behavior. Stress Can Be a CauseWhen a goldfish is stressed, he will sometimes just hang there in the water, unwilling to move. Sometimes this condition is apparent, as the fish is hanging out on the bottom of the bowl a lot. Conditions that can cause this are poor water quality, lack of air, poor nutrition and loud noises. The goldfish is sensitive not only to his own aquatic world but to the world around his own. Sometimes It’s SicknessA sick goldfish, perhaps one that is poisoned by ammonia or nitrites in the water, will be lethargic, clamping down his fins and tail and staying fairly stationary in the bowl. His colors will fade and his scales will grow dull. The sick fish won’t want to eat or swim. A sick fish won’t try hard to escape from a net as a healthy fish will. Fish is BoredGoldfish are curious fish; they explore plants, shells, little aquarium toys and even substrate gravel. When confined to a bowl, they often have nothing to do but swim, and will tire of that. A bored goldfish will often just give up and do nothing without a challenge in his environment. Small toys designed for bowls, as well as shells and gravel that’s too big for goldfish to swallow, are the solution. Water Quality and TemperatureWhile it’s true that goldfish can tolerate algae and muck to a certain degree, they will go into partial hibernation if their water becomes too cold. While it’s unlikely that such conditions would occur in a bowl, the fish would react by sitting still at the bottom. Nitrates in the water stress the fish and make him sick; in a small bowl they build up quickly, causing disease. Sleeping GoldfishSleeping is the only healthy circumstance for goldfish to hang out on the bottom of a bowl. When goldfish sleep, they simply hang somewhere, without moving much. The fish may still look awake, because goldfish have no eyelids to close. Sometimes the fish will sleep at the bottom of the fish bowl, but as often as not will fall asleep anywhere within the bowl. Wherever they get tired is where the sleeping fish will rest. References
Photo Credits Goldfish lies at the bottom of the aquarium: what to do, reasonsMost of the problems in the aquarium are caused by the aquarist himself, violating the conditions for keeping the fish and making mistakes in caring for the aquarium. Often, in response to errors in the content, the fish sink to the bottom of the aquarium, and if the aquarist does not take action, the fish die. In this article I will look at the reasons why goldfish sink to the bottom of the aquarium. The problem is relevant for many, as it turned out. There are few reasons for this behavior, and the main reason would be the improper maintenance of the aquarium with goldfish. The first thing that is checked at the sight of a goldfish lying at the bottom is the parameters of the aquarium water:
Goldfish are cold water fish, but many aquarists make the mistake of keeping goldfish at temperatures of 25°C or more. They do not like soft water, preferring water of medium hardness. Keeping in soft water affects the immunity of the goldfish, making it susceptible to disease and infection. Keeping goldfish in unsuitable pH (acidity) water leads to acidosis or alkalosis, causing the goldfish to sink to the bottom of the aquarium. I am sure that by checking the parameters of the water in the aquarium, you will find a discrepancy with the required conditions for keeping goldfish. In the next step, check the concentrations of harmful substances in the aquarium. The test is carried out using test strips or drop tests. Check the concentration of the following substances:
Exceeding the permissible concentration causes severe poisoning, after which the goldfish may lie on the bottom of the aquarium. Read more about nitrites in the aquarium. Turning off the aquarium filter at night, as well as overfeeding goldfish, contributes to the accumulation of harmful substances in the aquarium, causing severe poisoning. Goldfish may lie on the bottom or swim near the bottom due to infection of the swim bladder due to loss of buoyancy. Take a close look at the goldfish. Reddened gills, scale loss, faded coloration, dark or white spots on the body will confirm the infection. Sudden changes in water temperature cause goldfish to sink to the bottom of the aquarium due to temperature shock. Temperature shock weakens the goldfish’s immune system, making it susceptible to disease and infection. Keeping goldfish in too cold water slows down their metabolism. The fish remains healthy, but swims little, preferring to lie on the bottom of the aquarium. Aquarium overcrowding is another common reason why goldfish lie at the bottom of the aquarium. Many beginners neglect the requirement of a large aquarium and a powerful goldfish filtration system. This is dangerous by exceeding the allowable concentration of ammonia and ammonium and is further exacerbated by the lack of weekly water changes. In fact, the fish swim in their own urine, getting severe ammonia poisoning. Once the cause of the problem has been identified, it is not difficult to correct the situation. The acidity, hardness and temperature of the aquarium water lead to the recommended parameters. If the permissible concentration of nitrites, nitrates or ammonia is exceeded, replace 20% of the aquarium water with settled water at room temperature, and then establish the reason for exceeding the permissible concentration. The probable cause is a small, dirty aquarium, overfeeding the fish, and overcrowding. If there are signs of infection, find out what is wrong with the goldfish. Forums will help with this, where experienced aquarists will help determine the infection from a photograph of a sick fish. To prevent the possible development of an infection, bathe your goldfish in salt water or salt the water in the aquarium. At the same time, the aquarium should not contain fish or aquarium plants that do not tolerate salt. It would be useful to add antifungal drugs, such as methylene blue. And most importantly, put the aquarium in order. It is useless to treat goldfish if the bottom of the aquarium is not visible due to rotting food residues, and the aquarium filter was cleaned a year ago. Study the nitrogen cycle in an aquarium. Read how to clean the aquarium, siphon the soil and how to change the water. Familiarize yourself with the conditions for keeping goldfish. And then, you don’t have to puzzle over why the goldfish lies at the bottom of the aquarium. The fish lies at the bottom: reasons and what to doShare the article: Beginner aquarists quite often encounter the phenomenon when a new fish introduced into the aquarium lies on the bottom and breathes heavily. There are several explanations for this behavior, and in each case it is necessary to understand separately. Contents
The fish are shocked! For example, you bought a “goldfish” and, satisfied with your purchase, put it into your home aquarium, expecting that it will please your household with its appearance. It wasn’t there! It goes down almost immediately. What is the reason for this seemingly unusual behavior? Why does a goldfish lie at the bottom of an aquarium? In many cases, this phenomenon is explained simply: the new inhabitant of the home pond experienced natural stress or shock. Yes, ornamental fish, when exposed to completely new conditions, often behave in exactly the same way as humans. They go through a natural acclimatization stage. Don’t grab your head right away! If the aquarium “works” as it should be, all the required conditions are met, then the purchased fish will get used to the new environment in 1-2 days, its health and behavior will normalize. However, it is necessary to observe it during this period as often as possible. Improper conditions of detentionPerhaps this is one of the main causes of the described problem. The requirements for the maintenance of domestic aquatic pets are written for a reason, they are developed by practice, sometimes not always positive. Be sure to adhere to all terms and conditions. This is especially true for those living creatures, as a result of which a lot of waste remains. It is to such ornamental fish that the “goldfish” belong. Dimensions of the aquariumIf the goldfish lie on the bottom of the aquarium, one of the reasons may be the insufficient volume of the “can”. 50 liters of water volume per 1 individual – it is with this calculation that an aquarium should be selected. The content of “golden” in cramped conditions contributes to the rapid pollution of the aquatic environment and, as a result, an increase in the concentration of nitrites and nitrates, which fish do not tolerate at all. Water parametersIt is also necessary to check the condition of the filter (the filter elements may be clogged) and make sure that it is working properly. Another situation, due to which the fish lies on its side at the bottom, is a violation of the temperature regime. This is possible both during water changes and in the event of a heater breakdown. The aquarium may not have been set up correctly and is getting too hot from the room heating system or direct sunlight. Too cold water causes hypothermia of aquatic fauna and disturbance of metabolic processes, and overheated water environment reduces the amount of oxygen dissolved in it. The fish begin to choke. Violation of the acid-base balance not only affects the behavior of pet aquarium pets, but also causes diseases such as alkalosis and acidosis, which can even become chronic. That is why, in some cases, measuring the pH balance level helps to determine what the problem is.
Timely and smooth bringing of the pH balance to normal conditions for keeping certain types of pets contributes to the recovery of sick individuals. Young aquariumA common cause of this phenomenon may be the settlement of ornamental fish in a new aquarium, where the required balance of the aquatic ecosystem is not yet available. This is one of the biggest mistakes beginner aquarists make. It is not enough just to pour prepared water into the “jar” and put the equipment into operation. Any specialist in the aquarium business will confirm that the aquarium has not yet been launched for real, since a colony of bacteria processing nitrites and nitrates has not grown in the biofilter. That is why in such an environment, having received an increased dose of a poisonous substance, having experienced severe stress conditions, a goldfish lies at the bottom. In this case, daily water changes in the amount of at least 20% of the total amount of water will help to reduce the content of nitrates and correct the “emergency” situation. Diseases and injuriesIt is very common for beginner aquarists to seek advice from specialists if fish lie at the bottom of the aquarium despite the fact that the conditions of detention are not violated, and testing of the water indicates its complete suitability for aquatic life. In such cases, such behavior may well be caused by illness or injury. As for injuries, quite popular betta fish “suffer” from this. Due to their cocky disposition, they often get various injuries, including the swim bladder. Care for kids international: Care for Kids InternationalCare for Kids InternationalWelcome! Merry Christmas and Happy New Year 2022! 2021 Update
Dear Friends, Prayer Partners, Sponsors & Donors-
Here is an update from our Field Director, Tejoban Lima on the work God has done during 2021 through the ministry in India through Care for Kids International.
“Loving greetings in Jesus name from Care for Kids International and Care for Kids Ministries, India. Glory to God! As you know CFKI is an organization serving the needy kids and communities in deep, remote, and unreached mountain areas in the southern part of Odisha State, India. We are safe and sound amidst the pandemic. God is good and we hope the same for you and your family. It is our proud privilege that you have been continuing in partnership with us! Praise God and thank you so much for that! May this letter find you best of your spirit!
As you know covid- 19 pandemic worse affected the global, many lost their loved ones, and struggled to provide for their families. In spite of all the odds, CFKI India has been able to continue mission efforts to the poorest communities in deep unreached remote mountain areas, due to your love and support alone. Because of your generosity and prayers, we have been able to build a better community.
In 2021 you made it possible deliver help and hope in the following areas:
Urgent Needs: There have been many instances of persecution and oppression this year. The villages of Sikapai, Tabjaguda, Kafamjhola, and Pami have all experienced horrific religious persecution this year, including physical torture, burning of the humble shelters that did exist, blocking relief supplies, stealing, and contamination of drinking water. We have provided relief to these villagers, who had to flee and live in the forest in order to be safe.
We are praying that God will provide during this holiday season for our estimated budget of $5000 which will include food, clothes, gifts for 30 villages people will attend at 4 different celebrations to learn about Christmas and the hope Jesus brings.
Pray for our goals for 2022: *To touch200 needy kids by sponsorship. *To set up 10 more learning centers * CFKI building that will serve as a missionary training center. It is currently completed at 50%. Please pray for the funding and resources to complete by March 2022. * We would like to send 10 missionary in the mission field 2022 and need training and funding for this to happen. *At present We have one church building@Kadamjhola. We are praying for God to provide the avenue and resources to build two more churches for villages that are not near Kadamjhola. *One mission van is urgently needed and has been on our prayer list for nearly two years. This van would allow for the transport of supplies, which are currently being delivered on foot or by rickshaw, to villages that require days of travel without a motor vehicle.
If you would like to help, prayers are very appreciated. If you find yourself in a position to give financially, we have a goal for 2022 finding 100 sponsors. Sponsoring a child for $50 per month provides all the basic care for the child, food for their family and opportunities to attend school along with job training as well. Your donation will change the life of a child, and their family.
Donation can be made via PayPal to: Venmo (303-883-6518) or by sending a check to 41479 Country Rose circle, Parker, CO80138.
100% of the funds goes directly to the children and families in India.
We would love to welcome you for a mission trip to India sometime in the future. Thank you all my friends for your sacrificial prayers, support and sponsorship!

Located in Odisha, India, Care for Kids India provides food, clean water, shelter, medical care, education, church services, vacation Bible school, holiday celebrations, and agricultural training to 15 tribal villages in the remote areas of Odisha. Care for Kids has also taken on the burden of assisting the children who were previously sponsored by Compassion International, before they had to pull their program from India. Pastor Tejoban Lima and his team of 10 missionaries volunteer their time to share God’s love. They take a bus 18-35 miles to the main junction, and then walk on foot anywhere from 3-12 miles to reach the villages. Team members are often carrying supplies and face the threat of tigers, snakes, and bears. Many outreach opportunities have been provided for villagers. International Children’s Day | Kinder Clinic
Things needed for discharge of a child from the maternity hospital
Two thin diapers, one flannel, diapers, two undershirts (thin cotton and flannel), a flannelette blanket and additionally, according to the season, a warm hat, a woolen or wadded blanket with a duvet cover, corner and ribbon.
Toiletries necessary for a newborn baby
Bath, thermometer for measuring water temperature, cotton wool, vaseline oil, soap (preferably “Baby”), hair comb, two or three mittens made of very soft fabric (for bathing), solution potassium permanganate, powder, scissors for hair and nails, two terry towels or bathing diapers.
All organs and systems in newborns are imperfect, so proper care is important for them.
Umbilical wound
Most maternity hospitals now discharge children with a fallen umbilical residue, in place of which an umbilical wound forms. As a rule, it epithelializes by the 18-20th day of life. Special and careful care is important for her: a 3% solution of hydrogen peroxide should be instilled into the umbilical fossa, gently wiped with a sterile cloth and treated with brilliant green (1% solution) 2-3 times a day. The wound is treated daily until it is epithelized. If there are changes – bleeding or purulent discharge from the wound – immediately inform the doctor.
Hygiene
Pampers should be changed at least every 4 hours. When changing a diaper, wash the baby under running water with baby soap, blot dry with a towel and grease with cream (Vaseline) or powder with powder.
Girls need to be washed after three urinations, and after each it is enough to gently blot the external genitalia with a napkin. After emptying the intestines, wash the baby with warm running water. Hold it upside down so the water gets in from the front. Try to use less soap, it is convenient to replace it with wet wipes, but you should not get carried away with them, as many children develop allergic reactions to wipes.
Boys are washed with their backs up. If you notice any redness of the skin of the foreskin and glans penis or redness of the vulva in girls, anxiety after each urination, consult a doctor.
Wash your hands thoroughly before taking your child to the toilet in the morning. Place your baby on a changing table covered with a clean diaper. Every morning it is necessary to wipe the baby’s face with boiled water, starting with the eyes. For each eye – a separate cotton swab, washed from the inner corner of the eye to the outer, in the first days you can use a solution of furacilin. Then wipe the forehead, cheeks and mouth. If the eyes fester, then you can wash them with fresh strong tea leaves from black tea.
Treat all natural creases with a small amount of baby cream (behind the ears, neck, underarms, elbows, inguinal, popliteal). You can clean the nasal passages with cotton flagella soaked in sterile vaseline oil, or with cotton swabs with restraints. You can use tools such as Salin, Aquamaris and the like. When carrying out the toilet of the nose and ears, do not use sticks, matches and other items. When processing the ears, it is possible to use cotton buds with a limiter. Do not treat the oral mucosa of a healthy newborn, it is very dry and easily vulnerable.
Nail trimming
Be prepared for your child’s nails to grow very quickly and need to be trimmed regularly. Use small scissors for this, it is better if they are with blunt rounded ends. It is very convenient to cut nails when the child is sleeping. In order not to touch his skin, wring out the pads of your fingers. If you still cut the child, grease the cut with brilliant green.
Bathing
The baby should be bathed daily. For bathing, prepare a water thermometer, a sponge or bathing mitt, liquid baby soap, powder or baby cream, a towel, a diaper, clothes.
Before the navel heals, bathe the baby in boiled water, where potassium permanganate (pale pink) is added.
Water temperature should be 38°C, then gradually lower by 1-2°C.
The air temperature during bathing should be 24-25°C.
Duration of bathing – no more than five minutes in the evening. Gradually, the duration of water procedures will increase to 15 minutes.
It is also good to use a decoction of herbs for bathing, for example, string and chamomile. Soap can be used no more than twice a week. The water level should not cover the upper part of the chest. The area of the heart should be above the water. Cover your baby’s head with your hand while rinsing.
Wash your hair twice a week with baby soap or shampoo. Crusts on the head must be lubricated with vaseline oil 2 hours before bathing, then carefully removed with a comb with blunt teeth.
Starch water is used to prevent diaper rash, it is prepared as follows: one tablespoon of starch per liter of warm boiled water. After bathing, the child is wrapped in a pre-prepared sheet or towel, his body is wiped dry, the skin folds and the anus are smeared with a drying or oily cream (depending on the characteristics of the child’s skin). The rest of the body is powdered with powder (except for the face). It is necessary to ensure that the child cannot inhale the powder during powdering.
Underwear should be changed every day. After bathing, comb the baby with a baby brush, this stimulates the sebaceous glands. Talk to your doctor about when you can start bathing. Most children enjoy swimming. Warm water soothes them and helps them fall asleep. It is better to bathe the baby in the evening before meals. Do not bathe your baby if he has a fever or pustular skin disease. Wash the tub thoroughly before use.
Sleep
A newborn baby is put to sleep on its side. Side must be alternated. If the baby slept on the left side, then next time put it on the right. A pillow at this age is not needed. Instead, you can put a clean, folded several times diaper, it is better if it is the entire width of the bed, so that the baby’s head is always on it, even when he spins.
An orthopedic pillow can be used to prevent torticollis. The air temperature in the room for full-term babies should be normal, i.e. 20-24 °C. For premature babies, it is necessary to maintain the temperature at the level of 24-26 ° C.
Walking
In summer, the baby can be taken outside for the first time at the age of one week. In the cold season, the child begins to be accustomed to fresh air gradually, at the fifth week of life. At the same time, he is warmly dressed and placed in front of an open window for several minutes. Only then can it be taken out to fresh air. The first walk should last 10-15 minutes. The time spent outdoors gradually increases to two to three hours a day.
In windy weather, fog, you should not walk with your child. You should not walk with a baby at an ambient temperature of -12 degrees and below, as well as with a sharp temperature drop. To make sure your baby is warm, feel the baby’s neck or shoulders (they should be warm). It is not advisable to navigate by the tip of the nose or the baby’s arms, since the temperature of these parts of the body may be lower, which is associated with the peculiarities of the child’s thermoregulation.
Clothes
Care must be taken to ensure that the infant has the ability to move appropriately for his age. The newborn performs only uncoordinated movements. His body is usually in a bent position, his head is slightly turned to one side. At this time, it is impossible to forcibly give the child’s body a different position, just as it is impossible later to forcibly accelerate any stage in the development of the child’s motor abilities (the ability to sit, walk, etc.).
Care must be taken that from the age of 3-4 months the child has enough space to meet the need for movement (playpen) and that clothing does not constrain him. Keeping a child swaddled in an “envelope” should only be in the first days of life, later you need to make sure that his clothes are not too narrow or, conversely, wide so that they do not interfere with movement.
You should not dress your child too warmly, although such a mistake is very common.
Putting the baby on the stomach
Starting to put the baby on the stomach from 3 weeks of age, preferably before each feeding. First for 2-3 minutes, then gradually increase the duration to 10 minutes.
Children
The human rights treaty defines a child as anyone under the age of 18. In 2005, UNICEF estimated the total number of children in the world at 2.2 billion. In Europe, children probably make up a tenth of the population – about 200 million.
Children are people, that is, they have exactly the same human rights as adults. However, children have been recognized as being in particular need of care and assistance, and therefore they also have their own human rights treaty, the Convention on the Rights of the Child (CRC). The CRC was adopted by the United Nations in 1989 and entered into force on 2 September 1990. The CRC applies to all children under the age of 18 in countries that have adopted it – and almost every country in the world has already done so. Only the United States of America and Somalia have not ratified this Convention.
Why is CRC so important?
The CRC is the most widely ratified human rights instrument in the world. It marks a milestone in the history of children’s rights because it is the first legally binding international instrument adopted specifically to protect children’s rights.
The CRC does not grant children any additional rights over other people, but this Convention recognizes that additional safeguards may be needed to ensure that children have access to the human rights that all human beings enjoy. Among international treaties, this Convention is distinguished by the fact that it contains a full range of human rights: civil, political, social, economic and cultural rights.
The CRC has brought about a shift in attitudes towards children, as the CRC views children as human beings with rights and responsibilities that reflect their evolving abilities. In addition, the CRC has created a specific framework for ensuring children’s rights.
If every child, regardless of their sex, ethnicity, social status, language, age, nationality or religion, has these rights, then children must also respect each other on the basis of humanity. While children have the right to be protected from conflict, abuse, exploitation and abandonment, they also have the duty not to harass or harm each other. If children have the right to a clean environment, then they are also responsible for taking care of their environment. 1
Why is it harder for children to access certain rights than for adults?
How does CRC work?
Every five years, countries that have signed the CRC must submit a report to the Committee on the Rights of the Child on what they have done to ensure the rights set forth in the Convention. Other organizations are also invited to submit their reports, and NGOs often point to possible violations of the Convention that were not mentioned in the official government report. The committee is made up of independent experts and after it has considered all the submitted reports – governmental as well as from NGOs – a session is held in Geneva to interview government representatives and then adopt a series of Concluding Observations. They are recommendations that countries should follow in order to correct or improve those areas where, in the opinion of the Committee, the Convention is not properly implemented. The next time the government submits its report, the experts check whether the previous commitments have been fulfilled.
What would you say to the Committee on the Rights of the Child regarding children’s rights in your country?
Optional Protocols to the CRC
There are two optional protocols to the CRC, both of which were adopted in May 2000 and are also monitored by the Committee on the Rights of the Child. The first of these is the Optional Protocol on the involvement of children in armed conflict; the second is the Optional Protocol on the sale of children, child prostitution and child pornography. In June 2011, the UN Human Rights Council adopted a draft third Optional Protocol on a procedure for reporting violations of children’s rights. This new protocol will allow the Committee on the Rights of the Child to consider communications from children and their representatives about alleged violations of their rights.
Main features of the CRC
The CRC contains 54 articles that cover a full and wide range of rights – civil, political, cultural, social and economic – all of which are the basis for protecting the rights of people under the age of 18. The CRC is based on three categories of rights and is guided by four principles.
Three categories of rights
Articles of the CRC protecting principles can be grouped into three categories – participation, protection and provision (in English – participation, protection and provision – often called “three Ps”).
Participation was (and still is) a very innovative approach and reflects the Convention’s treatment of children as subjects rather than objects of law. Many adults, and many societies in general, tend to treat children as if they were incapable of thinking for themselves, or as if their preferences or feelings mattered little – at least with regard to decisions that concern their well-being. . The Convention also promotes the idea of children as people whose wishes must be taken into account. The Convention states that children have the right to be respected and treated with dignity simply because they are human beings, regardless of their age. Part of this “treatment with dignity” is that they should be allowed to be autonomous human beings, to express their wishes and opinions as soon as they are able to do so, and to have their wishes and opinions considered as an important factor in making decisions that affect them.
In addition to recognizing children’s right to participation, the Convention also recognizes that children may need special protection, for example against harassment, abuse, exploitation and abuse. The third category of rights is security, which covers all the rights that are necessary for the life support and full development of the child, such as the right to adequate food, clean water, housing, formal education and health care.
To what extent do you listen to the young people you work with and consider their wishes?
Finnish Children’s Parliament
A virtual parliament building was built online for the Finnish Children’s Parliament. This building provides representatives with a space, regardless of the time of day and place of residence, to interact and develop their activities. The council and committees of the Children’s Parliament meet weekly in the chat rooms to discuss issues of interest and prepare future plenary sessions. Members of the Children’s Parliament discuss issues online in their own discussion forums, respond to research findings presented by political leaders, and hold a bi-weekly online plenary session. The council and all the children also meet in person. http://www.lastenparlamentti.fi
Four principles
The entire Convention is based on four guiding principles or general requirements for all rights contained in this treaty. These principles are also reflected in various articles of this document. When the UN Committee on the Rights of the Child prepared the guidelines for reporting under the Convention, these principles were set out as separate topics for the preparation of reports.
Principle 1: Prohibition of Discrimination (Article 2)
The Prohibition of Discrimination Article is open-ended: it prohibits discrimination on the grounds listed, but also does not permit other forms not specifically mentioned here. Girls need to be given the same opportunities as boys. Disabled children have the same opportunities as healthy children, Muslims have the same opportunities as Hindus or Christians, the poor have the same opportunities as the rich, and so on.
Principle 2: The best interests of the child (art. 3)
This principle relates to the fact that children are fully human beings whose interests are important. In doing so, he goes even further: he not only simply provides that the needs of children are significant; it implies that these needs should be considered first when making decisions about the child. This does not necessarily mean doing exactly what the child wants at any given moment, as sometimes an outside observer may be better able to serve the child’s best interests, especially in the long run.
Who do you think should decide who is best in the best interests of the child: the parents, the child or the government?
Principle 3: The right to life, survival and development (Article 6)
This principle is much broader than it might seem: it imposes obligations on CRC signatories to take into account not only the physical development of children, but also their mental, spiritual, moral, psychological and social development. Governments are supposed to “create the environment” that is best suited to prepare every child for independent life in a free society.
Principle 4: Respect for the views of the child (art. 12)
This principle has already been partly discussed above in the analysis of the concept of “participation”. When State Parties report to the Committee on the Rights of the Child, they are expected to report on the opportunities for children to express their views in the family, school, childcare and other forms of care, as well as in asylum procedures.
The State of Children: Facts and Figures
The establishment of the Committee on the Rights of the Child was a giant step at the very beginning of the process of formalizing the obligations of states and providing some form of accountability. However, this was only the beginning of this process. In all countries of the world, there is still a long way to go in the field of children’s rights before it meets the standards enshrined in the Convention.
The world’s children
Of the world’s 2.2 billion children, 600 million live in extreme poverty. This means that every fourth child lives on less than 1 euro per day. 2
Every year, nearly 9 million children under the age of five die from curable diseases. Although 20 years ago this number was much higher, and it continues to decline. 3
Every day 17,000 children die of starvation. 4
The UN estimates that around 250,000 children, boys and girls aged 18, are associated with armed groups or armed forces. 5
More than 100 million children of primary school age are out of school, with more girls than boys. 6
Children in Europe
Children in Europe face many challenges and the statistics below are just a small selection. Other sections of these chapters provide further details on specific issues.
Children’s rights in Europe
– Many children in Europe suffer from domestic, community, institutional and other violence. In Central and Eastern Europe, 35% of schoolchildren surveyed said they had been bullied in the two months prior to an interview, with percentages ranging from 15% to 64%. 7
– 19% of children in the EU are at risk of poverty. 8
– More than 626,000 children live in institutions in 22 countries of Central and Eastern Europe and the Commonwealth of Independent States, CEE/CIS. 9
– Certain groups of children suffer discrimination, often on multiple grounds. For example, Roma children often face exclusion from education and limited access to health services. Many children with disabilities regularly experience prejudice or a lack of understanding of their situation and are usually excluded from participating in decisions that affect them.
– Despite the fact that the European Union is one of the richest regions in the world, children in the EU still live in poverty. 9% of children under the age of 14 live in households where no adult has a paid job. Child poverty and social exclusion have risen substantially in some countries over the past 20 years, with the youngest children facing the risk of relative poverty more than any other group. 10
Street children
UNICEF has identified three types of street children: street children who have run away from their families and live alone on the streets; children working on the streets, who spend most of their time there earning their own living; and children from families living on the streets who live there with their families. A report prepared by the UK Children’s Society found that 11 :
- The number of Moroccan minors entering Spain has risen steadily since the Spanish Interior Ministry registered them for the first time in 1998. From 811 that year, the number more than quadrupled to 3,500 in 2002.
- The number of working street children in St. Petersburg, Russia, is estimated at between 10,000 and 16,000: 20% of those children are involved in prostitution.
- Some orphanages in Ukraine say that 97% of children leaving their institutions become homeless.
- About 2,500 children in Georgia have turned to the street to earn money, either by begging or prostituting themselves.
- 100,000 young people run away in the UK each year: 6.7% of the runaways had both birth parents, 13% had only a single birth parent, 18% had a step family, and 30.8% had “other family form”.
Do you know the number of street children in your country?
Human trafficking
Almost all experts believe that human trafficking is a problem that is only getting worse, but one of the difficulties is that there is no consensus on how many people are affected by this phenomenon. The US government estimates that 600,000 to 800,000 people are trafficked across international borders each year. According to the UN Bureau on Drugs and Crime, more than 20% of victims of human trafficking, both within countries and across state borders, are children. 13
Council of Europe Convention against Trafficking in Human Beings
The Council of Europe Convention against Trafficking in Human Beings entered into force on 1 February 2008. This treaty is based on the recognition of the principle that trafficking in human beings is a violation of human rights and harms the dignity and integrity of the human person. The purpose of this comprehensive treaty is to:
– Prevent trafficking in persons
– Protect the human rights of victims of trafficking
– Pursue human traffickers.
The Convention applies to all forms of trafficking in human beings, regardless of who is the victim and regardless of the form of exploitation.
Violence against children
Corporal punishment
Human rights law recognizes that children have the right to be protected from all forms of violence, including corporal punishment, at home, at school and in any other setting. However, society around the world, including in many European countries, still tolerates and even approves some forms of violence against children, in particular those used in the home. At 19In 1998, the European Court of Human Rights delivered a landmark judgment in its case law (A. v. the United Kingdom), namely the first judgment on corporal punishment by parents. Child “A” – a boy from England – was beaten with a stick by his adoptive father, and this left severe bruises. The European Court ruled that the boy’s right to be protected from degrading punishment had been violated in this case. As of June 2011, corporal punishment was made illegal in schools in 117 states, although only 29of these, children are protected from cruel punishments anywhere, including at home. The 22 member states of the Council of Europe have banned violence at home, in schools, in prisons and in childcare facilities. 15
Is it right to prohibit any form of corporal punishment of children?
Cyber-bullying and depiction of sexual violence
Children are exposed to many risks when they use the Internet, such as when they view inappropriate material, or are bullied and harassed online, or when they are abused and exploited, such as in the form of child abuse. People who regularly work with children can take steps to protect them from these dangers:
- By taking individual action, such as reporting, complaining, or surveying, if they become aware that a child has been exposed to such risks, or if they discover illegal or dangerous material on the Internet.
- Protecting children by sharing information with them and talking to them about these issues.
- Educating parents to understand the dangers of using the Internet and how to control the websites their children visit.
The Council of Europe has developed an interactive game for children called Wild Internet Forest, which helps children identify virtual dangers and avoid them by browsing the Internet in a safe environment.
Sexual abuse
Available data suggest that one in five children in Europe is the victim of some form of sexual abuse. It is believed that in 70%-85% of cases the abuser is a person whom the child knows and trusts. Sexual abuse of children can take many forms: domestic sexual abuse, child pornography and prostitution, corruption, dealing with “dirty” offers over the Internet, and sexual abuse by peers. Sexual violence against children exists in all countries in Europe, but there are many barriers to getting a clear picture of its scope, depth and nature. Many cases are simply not reported or the facts are revealed after many years, reliable statistics are difficult to obtain and there is no standardized, coordinated data collection method. The Council of Europe Convention for the Protection of Children against Sexual Exploitation and Abuse (Lanzarote Convention) contains all the measures necessary to prevent sexual violence, protect children and prosecute those who commit such acts. This is the first international treaty to deal with all forms of sexual violence against children. Its approaches are based on four principles: preventing violence, protecting child victims, prosecuting those who commit acts of violence, and promoting partnerships and participatory policies. The Lanzarote Convention calls for, inter alia, screening and training for professionals in contact with children, sex education and awareness raising, and programs for potential offenders.
EVERY FIVE
Combating sexual violence against children through specific legal instruments and comprehensive advocacy are two strategic objectives of the Council of Europe’s Building a Europe for and with Children programme. In November 2010, the Council of Europe’s ONE in FIVE campaign was launched to stop sexual abuse of children. The objective of the ONE in FIVE campaign is to further sign, ratify and comply with the Council of Europe Convention on the Protection of Children against Sexual Exploitation and Abuse and to provide children, their families/carers and communities at large with the knowledge and tools to prevent and inform about sexual violence against children, thereby raising awareness of the magnitude of this phenomenon. European initiatives
Council of Europe
The Council of Europe and its member states have adopted a series of legal instruments, programs and recommendations to address some of the challenges children face in Europe today. Some Council of Europe treaties specific to children include:
• European Convention on the Exercise of Children’s Rights (2000),
• Convention for the Protection of Children against Sexual Exploitation and Abuse (2007), the first international legal treaty to criminalize links to sexual abuse of children,
• European Convention on the Adoption of Children (revised 2008).
Of course, all human rights treaties apply to children as well.
Building a Europe for and with children
This program was developed as a result of the Third Summit of Heads of State and Government of the Council of Europe (Warsaw, 2005). It consists of two closely related areas: promoting children’s rights and protecting children from violence. The main goal of the program is to assist all leaders and participants in the development and implementation of national strategies for the protection of children’s rights and the prevention of violence against children.
The Council of Europe also emphasizes awareness-raising and campaigning on the most pressing human rights issues, including children’s rights.
In 2007, the youth sector of the Council of Europe published Compasito, a manual on human rights education for children. This manual has been developed in response to all the many requests from professionals interested in providing human rights education to a younger age group. The subsequent spread of Compasito throughout Europe proved that human rights education is highly effective with children from a very young age onwards.
The Democratic Citizenship Education Program sets out guidelines for implementing educational activities that will enable children to be citizens and understand how democracy works.
European Network of Ombudsmen for Children
The word ‘ombudsman’ comes from the Scandinavian word ‘ombud’, which means representative or delegate or delegate. It has now come to mean a person who handles and/or investigates complaints, represents and defends the interests/rights of a particular group, speaks on behalf of that group, and seeks to improve the conditions of individuals and the group as a whole. There are now separate children’s ombudsmen in many countries, and in 19In 1997, the European Network of Ombudsmen for Children (ENOC) was created. The role of such ombudsmen is to ensure full implementation of the CRC while maintaining full independence from the state and public authorities. The Children’s Ombudsman usually advocates and promotes the interests/rights of children in relations with public and private bodies and analyzes the developmental environment in which children grow up. As of 2011, this network includes 39 authorities from 30 countries. The mandate of the network is to help promote and protect the rights of children.
Is there a children’s ombudsman in your country
European Union
In 2006, the European Commission published Towards an EU Strategy on the Rights of the Child, which put children’s rights on the agenda of the European Union, and includes a number of tasks, concerning the activities of the Commission, and criteria for the EU agenda for 2011. In 2010, the Commission also developed an action plan in support of unaccompanied minors and is implementing through the DAPHNE program activities to combat violence against children, young people and women. 16 The EU Child Rights Agenda aims to reaffirm the EU’s full commitment, as set out in the Treaty of Lisbon and the Charter of Fundamental Rights, to promote the protection and observance of the rights of the child in all relevant EU policies and activities. This agenda includes 11 specific areas of action where the EU can make an effective contribution to the well-being and safety of children. 17
Non-governmental organizations
Non-governmental organizations not only have a voice in the monitoring of the CRC, but also contribute to the realization of children’s rights through their daily work and practice. Children-led organizations also play an important role. NGO work includes a wide variety of advocacy activities, from human rights education with children to research, child protection initiatives, partnerships with governments on child-friendly policies, alternative reporting on children’s rights, and more. d. Here are some examples of organizations that work for children’s rights in various ways:
Child Protection International is an international NGO with a presence in 40 countries, focusing in particular on juvenile justice through direct action and lobbying, monitoring and training.
ECPAT is an international network with a presence in over 70 countries working to end child prostitution, child pornography and the sale of children for sexual purposes.
The NGO Group for the Convention on the Rights of the Child is a network of over 70 national and international NGOs dedicated to promoting, implementing and monitoring the CRC.
The European Youth Forum is a youth-led platform representing 98 national youth councils and international youth organizations across Europe working on youth participation by representing and supporting their needs and interests and their organizations in relation to European institutions, the Council of Europe and the UN.
The European Youth Club Confederation (ECYC) is a network of youth work organizations and youth clubs that implement and promote open youth work and non-formal education through a network of 28 member organizations in 27 European countries.
Save the Children is a leading organization in 120 countries that promotes and protects children’s rights and helps children in need. Through a wide range of initiatives – from direct action to advocacy and lobbying – the organization strives to create a world in which every child has the right to survive, protect, develop and participate.
Falcons Movement International – Socialist Movement for Education International (IFM-SEI) – an international movement for education that works to empower children and youth and fight for their rights through seminars and training courses, international camps, conferences and campaigns related to education, advocacy and direct work with vulnerable children.

November 20 is World Day children | Charitable center “Complicity in fate”
In 1954, the UN General Assembly recommended that all countries, starting in 1956, introduce the practice of celebrating World Children’s Day (English Universal Children’s Day, Spanish Día Universal del Niño, French Journée mondiale de l’enfance) as a day of world brotherhood and mutual understanding of children. The holiday should be aimed at improving the well-being of children, as well as strengthening the work carried out by the UN on behalf of the children of the world.
In its official documents, the UN speaks of celebrating World Children’s Day on 20 November. On this day at 19In 1959, the Declaration of the Rights of the Child was adopted, and in 1989, the Convention on the Rights of the Child. However, the General Assembly invited the governments of countries to celebrate this holiday in the form and on the day that each of them recognizes as appropriate for themselves.
UN Convention on the Rights of the Child is an international legal instrument that defines the rights of children in member states. The Convention on the Rights of the Child is the first and main binding international legal instrument dealing with a wide range of children’s rights. The document consists of 54 articles detailing the individual rights of persons from birth to 18 years of age (unless the age of majority is earlier under applicable laws) to develop their full potential in conditions free from hunger and want, cruelty, exploitation and other forms of abuse. Parties to the Convention on the Rights of the Child are the Holy See and all UN member states except the United States, South Sudan and Somalia.
History of creation
Issues regarding the rights of children have arisen relatively recently. States only assumed responsibility for protecting the child from parental abuse and economic exploitation by employers as a result of democratic reform movements in the 19th century.
Children and their rights have been at the heart of the United Nations since its inception in 1945. One of the first steps taken by the UN General Assembly to protect the rights of children was education at 1946 year of the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF), which is currently the main mechanism for international assistance to children.
Two years later, in 1948, the UN General Assembly adopted the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. Its provisions and those of the 1966 International Covenants relating to human rights state that children should be the object of special care and assistance.
But the first UN act concerning the rights of children was the Declaration of the Rights of the Child, adopted by the General Assembly in 1959. Its main thesis was that humanity is obliged to give the child the best of what it has. It proclaimed ten social and legal principles relating to the protection and well-being of children at the national and international levels, guiding the actions of all those responsible for the full realization of children’s rights, and which aimed to ensure them a “happy childhood”. The Declaration proclaimed that “humanity is obliged to give the child the best that it has”, to guarantee children the enjoyment of all rights and freedoms for their benefit and the benefit of society.
The Declaration called on parents, individuals, non-governmental organizations, local authorities and governments to recognize and strive for the rights and freedoms set forth in it. The Declaration also stated that children should be provided with special protection and opportunities and conditions to develop in a healthy and normal way in conditions of freedom and dignity. This document has had a significant impact on the policies and practices of governments and individuals around the world.
However, it soon became necessary to adopt a new document – a convention. International documents, including those on human rights, can conditionally be divided into two large groups: declarations and conventions, and if the declaration (from Latin – proclamation) is not binding, being a recommendation that proclaims the basic principles and program provisions, then convention (from Latin – treaty, agreement) is an agreement on a special issue that is binding on those states that have acceded to it (signed, ratified).
On the occasion of the 20th anniversary of the adoption of the Declaration of the Rights of the Child, the UN proclaimed 1979 the International Year of the Child. To mark this, a number of legal initiatives were put forward, among which was the proposal made in 1978 by Poland to consider the draft Convention on the Rights of the Child in the UN Commission on Human Rights. The author of the original project was the Polish professor of international affairs A. Lopatka. Work on the text of the draft Convention took ten years and ended in 1989, exactly thirty years after the adoption of the Declaration of the Rights of the Child.
In the 30 years since the Declaration of the Rights of the Child has existed, many ideas have changed, new concepts have emerged, so the Convention on the Rights of the Child has become broader and reflected the international community’s need to give children’s rights the force of treaty law.
The draft Convention on the Rights of Children was developed by the Commission on Human Rights, which was attended by lawyers, doctors, teachers, psychologists, sociologists, culturologists, public organizations and religious leaders from many countries of the world.
During the work on the Convention and after its adoption by the UN General Assembly, meetings were organized in which UN organizations, bodies and specialized agencies participated in order to raise awareness and disseminate information about the Convention, which is of global importance for the realization of human rights – children’s rights. The Convention was adopted by resolution 44/25 of the UN General Assembly on November 20, 1989; on January 26, 1990, the signing of the Convention began. The Convention entered into force on 2 September 1990 years after its ratification by twenty states. At the Vienna Conference on Human Rights in 1993, it was decided to ensure that by 1995 the Convention would become universal for all States.
Compared to the Declaration on the Rights of the Child of 1959, where there were 10 short, declarative provisions (they were called principles), the convention consists of articles that take into account almost all aspects related to the life and position of the child in society. The Convention on the Rights of the Child not only develops and concretizes the provisions of the Declaration of the Rights of the Child, but also goes further, arguing that states that accede to it are legally responsible for their actions in relation to children.
The Convention is of equal importance to peoples in all regions of the world. This is the result of long and fruitful negotiations between representatives of countries of different socio-economic systems, ethical and religious approaches to life in the development of a set of common values and goals that have universal application.
Although the Convention establishes general norms, it takes into account the different cultural, social, economic and political realities of individual states, which allows each state, on the basis of rights common to all, to choose its own national means to implement these norms. This gives grounds to assert that the Convention has a universal character.
Speaking about the history of the Declaration and the Convention, one cannot help but recall the name of a prominent Russian teacher, a passionate fighter for the rights of children and the free education of the individual KN Venttsel. Based on humanistic philosophical thought, back in September 1917 he developed and published the Declaration of the Rights of the Child. This kind of humanistic manifesto was one of the first in world practice, which was several decades ahead of the similar UN Declaration.
The international community has praised the Convention as the outstanding humanistic document of our time. The Executive Board of UNICEF at its annual session (June 1992 years old) invited states to celebrate World Children’s Day on November 20 (the day of the adoption of the Convention on the Rights of the Child) every year.
In 1996, at the initiative of France, the day of the adoption by the UN General Assembly of the text of the Convention, it was decided to celebrate November 20 every year as the Day of the Rights of the Child.
The Convention is a document of the highest pedagogical importance. She calls on both adults and children to build their relationships on moral and legal norms, which are based on genuine humanism and democracy, respect and respect for the personality of the child, his opinion and views. They should be the basis of pedagogy, education and decisive elimination of the authoritarian style of communication between an adult and a child, a teacher and a student. At the same time, the Convention affirms the need to form in the younger generation a conscious understanding of the laws and rights of other people, a respectful attitude towards them.
The main idea of Convection is the best interests of the child. Its position boils down to four essential requirements that must ensure the rights of children: survival, development, protection and ensuring active participation in society.
Convection establishes a number of important social legal principles, the main of which is the recognition of the child as a full-fledged and full-fledged personality. It is a recognition that children should have human rights in their own right and not as an appendage of their parents or guardians.
Article 43, paragraph 2, of the Convention was amended in 1995 and entered into force in 2002.
In 2000, two optional protocols to the convention were adopted and entered into force in 2002 – on the involvement of children in armed conflicts (158 participating countries as of November 2014) and on the sale of children, child prostitution and child pornography (169 participating countries as of November 2014).
In 2012 the Russian Federation ratified these two optional protocols to the Convention on the Rights of the Child.
In December 2011, the UN General Assembly adopted the third optional protocol, which was opened for signature in 2012 and entered into force in 2014, reaching ten participating countries. The protocol provides for the possibility for the Committee on the Rights of the Child to consider complaints of violations of the Convention against the countries participating in the protocol. For November, 2014 14 countries participate in the third protocol.
Today, 96% of the world’s children live in countries with a legal obligation to protect children’s rights.
Main provisions of the Convention on the Rights of the Child
First part
Articles 1-4 define the concept of “child”, affirm the priority of the interests of children and the obligation of state parties to take measures for the non-discriminatory enjoyment of the rights enshrined in the Convention.
Articles 5-11 define the list of rights to life, name, citizenship, the right to know one’s parents, the right to parental care and non-separation, the rights and obligations of parents towards children.
Articles 12-17 set out the rights of children to express their views, their opinions, freedom of thought, conscience and religion, association and peaceful assembly, the child’s access to the dissemination of information.
Articles 18-27 define the duty of the state to assist parents and legal guardians and to protect children from abuse by their caregivers, rights of children deprived of a family environment or adoptees, mentally or physically handicapped, refugees, children’s rights health care, social security and the standard of living necessary for their development.
Articles 28-31 establish the rights of children to education, the use of their native language and culture, the practice of their religion, rest and leisure.
Articles 32-36 establish the State’s responsibility to protect the rights of children from exploitation, illegal drug use, seduction, kidnapping and child trafficking.
Articles 37-41 prohibit the use of the death penalty and life imprisonment without the possibility of release for crimes committed before the age of 18, prohibit torture and humiliating punishment of children, define the rights of the child when accused of a criminal act or imprisonment, and the rights of children for protection during armed conflicts and wars. States undertake to take steps towards the rehabilitation and social reintegration of child victims of neglect, exploitation or abuse, and reserve the right to protect the rights of the child to a higher degree than provided by the Convention.
Second part
Articles 42-45 describe the Committee on the Rights of the Child, its structure, functions, rights and obligations, and oblige states to inform children and adults about the principles and provisions of the Convention.
Third part
Articles 46-54 indicate the solution of procedural and legal problems of compliance by states with the provisions of the Convention. Unlike many UN conventions, the Convention on the Rights of the Child is open for signature by all states, so the Holy See, which is not a member of the UN, could become a party to it.
The innovation of the Convention lies primarily in the scope of the rights defined for the child. Some of the rights were first recorded in the Convention.
On the right to education
Convention in art. 28 guarantees children free and compulsory primary education and requires UN Member States to encourage the development of various forms of secondary education, both general and vocational, to ensure its accessibility to all children and to take the necessary measures, such as the introduction of free education.
About raising children
An integral part of education is upbringing. So among the tasks of family education, the Convention (Article 18) requires that “every possible effort is made to ensure recognition of the principle of common and equal responsibility of both parents for the upbringing and development of the child. Parents, or where appropriate legal guardians, have the primary responsibility for the upbringing and development of the child. The best interests of the child are their primary concern.”
Art.20 defines the tasks of social education of children (care for them) who have lost their parents. “Such care may include, inter alia, placement in foster care, adoption or, if necessary, placement in appropriate child care institutions. In considering replacement options, due consideration must be given to the desirability of continuity in the child’s upbringing and to the child’s ethnic origin, religious and cultural affiliation, and mother tongue.”
Article 21 of the Convention defines the rights of a child upon adoption in another country: “adoption in another country may be considered as an alternative way of caring for a child if the child cannot be placed in foster care or placed in a family that could provide for his upbringing or adoption, and if it is not possible to provide any suitable care in the country of origin of the child.”
Art. 29 of this document. In practice, it regulates for the participating countries the priorities of the goal of public education: a) development of the personality, talents and mental and physical abilities of the child to their fullest extent; b) fostering respect for human rights and fundamental freedoms, as well as the principles proclaimed in the Charter of the United Nations; c) fostering respect for the child’s parents, his cultural identity, language and values, for the national values of the country in which the child lives, his country of origin and for civilizations other than his own; d) preparing the child for a conscious life in a free society in the spirit of understanding, peace, tolerance, equality between men and women and friendship between all peoples, ethnic, national and religious groups, as well as persons from among the indigenous population; e) fostering respect for the environment.

Choosing KinderCare was the best childcare decision for my family. My kids are learning so much and absolutely love their teachers. Additionally, they have gained confidence and made lots of new friends. The staff at KinderCare makes us feel like part of their family. We are greeted everyday as we enter and leave the center. All the staff are extremely professional, respectful, and caring. The staffing is very consistent within the classrooms. There is very little turnover if any. The center is kept very clean and they take many precautions to prevent the spread of illness. We feel very confident that our son is well taken care of while we’re at work. There are so many opportunities daily for our child to learn, grow and explore. They have a great curriculum which will more than prepare o… More

The 2023/24 season will be the fourth joint for Liverpool and Nike, the Merseysiders signed a contract with the American company in 2020, refusing to renew their cooperation with long-term sponsor New Balance. nine0003
Over the years, Nike has introduced many different game kits, some of which attracted the fans, and some, on the contrary, were perceived by many with hostility.
For example, the Reds’ 2022/23 home kit was controversial, while the reserve kit was favored by most. But what to expect next season?
Home kit
The 2023/24 variant of the first and main game kit has been floating around the net for a long time, the design of the uniform is vaguely reminiscent of the Reebok style of the late 90’s. The main red, white stripes on the sleeves and cuffs, also in white are the names of the sponsors.
A similar uniform was worn by the Reds back in 1965 when Liverpool won the FA Cup for the first time in their history. The new home kit will be released first, most likely in May.
Away Kit
No word yet on the new away kit, but the color scheme is rumored to be green/black/white. Most likely, the t-shirts will look like the one shown in the picture above. Training kits and sports jackets are made in these colors. nine0003
Backup kit
According to the highly reliable Footy Headlines, the backup kit will be in “cosmic purple with dark grey,” whatever that means.
And yes, Alisson plays in such a “cosmic purple” this season, for him, as well as for other Liverpool goalkeepers, a purple sweater is the first version of the kit.
The last time Liverpool played in purple was in 2018/19 when the Reds reached and won the Champions League final. In the 2013/14 season, when Warrior was the technical sponsor of Merseysiders, elements of purple were present on the third kit, but this color was not the main one. nine0003
Anything else?
Yes. Expedia, whose logo appears on the left sleeve of Liverpool jerseys, expires this summer. The sponsorship agreement with this company was concluded in 2020, Expedia replaced Western Union and pays Merseysiders £10 million a year.
Talks are ongoing with Expedia, as with other stakeholders, but Liverpool are clearly intent on getting a solid boost in sponsorships.
With title sponsor Standard Chartered, the club recently signed a new five-year contract that pays Liverpool £50m annually. The deal is calculated until 2027. nine0003

FTC has become part of our family this past year! The staff are all so accommodating and communicative and all 3 of my guys adore their therapists and I adore the admin staff!
FTC is a true blessing in our lives, the facility is spotlessly clean and so welcoming. My boys always look forward to coming and are making steady progress. Our whole experience here–top to bottom could not be more wonderful! I cannot recommend this practice enough!

YOU and YOUR CHILD MATTER. FTC Kids is whole child focused, not just the specific therapist’s expertise. They work as a team and they work with you. It is warm and welcoming. You just feel good going there. You know your child is in good hands. They make you feel like part of their family. They make sure you understand and are not left feeling despair. They give you hope. You see results AND my kids LOVE it and look forward to going there.”
–NICOLE G.
“I have noticed significant reductions in my son’s engagement in stereotypical behaviors, he’s more cooperative and social, and there has been a positive change in his social behaviors.
I chose FTC Kids because I was so blown away by the equipment, the knowledgeable staff, and the attention to the child AND family, that when I left I knew continuing was absolutely necessary. It boils down to the people that work there. Everyone working at FTC Kids is clearly very passionate and knowledgeable about their career and lovingly committed to the families they serve.”

No. 31. Tale “Little children – small worries, big children – big worries”
This is a well-known Russian proverb that has long lost its relevance.
Moral: still many people believe that problems, like a snowball, grow with age.
Comment: Current evidence suggests that the more parents invest in raising a small child, the fewer problems will arise when he grows up. Many mothers chat with neighbors during walks instead of communicating with their child. But it’s so interesting to see the world through his eyes again and suddenly begin to understand what was once missed, because children grow up very quickly (it only seems to a sleepy mother that this process is endless).
Every child goes through a series of crises. When parents are nearby and help him resolve them, he learns with them to overcome age-appropriate difficulties. Therefore, in adulthood, he will be able to independently take up the solution of his own problems. However, if in childhood he could not cope with something, since all problems were solved by adults, then any stress in adulthood or adolescence will lead to the collapse of ideas about himself, the fear of overcoming himself. And a person will prefer an indirect road in the hope that problems will be solved by themselves at this time. It is known that people who are not taught to deal with difficulties and overcome stress become addicts, that is, addicted people (from smoking, alcohol, drugs, computer games).
Range of applicability of the story: conversation with parents-to-be, with parents of newborns, and to a lesser extent, with parents of teenagers who already exhibit addictive behavior.

Baby and cat – super cute combination! Furry pets can develop strong relationships with children. They also act as play buddies for children. However, cats and babies do not always understand each other well. This situation can lead to scratches, bites and misbehavior of the animal.
Most children who grew up in a family with at least one cat are kinder and more affectionate, they respect and strive to take care of all other living beings. Also, these children have a more developed sense of compassion.
If you are a family with a cat that has a newborn, or a family with a small child who has decided to get a pet, remember the simple rules for dating and relationships between children and your pet.
Warning signs
When it comes to playing between cats and children, the most common fear is that the animal will scratch or bite the child. However, few people understand that a child can also injure an animal. Therefore, you will need to secure both sides from each other.
At first, while the cat and the child are just getting to know each other, we recommend that you closely monitor their joint games. If you notice that your cat is showing any warning signs, such as pricked ears or nervous tail twitching, remove the cat or take the baby aside, allowing it to back off and calm down.
Running in circles
Toddlers often try to catch up with a cat when it is not in the mood for play, moving in dashes in search of a safe place. To avoid this situation, designate a place for the cat out of the reach of children’s hands. There the animal will be able to rest, sleep and recover. If the cat prefers to rest in one room, close the door or block the passage to this room with a playpen. Teach your child that the cat also needs to take a break from games.
Empathy training
It is never too early to start teaching children to treat animals with gentleness, kindness and compassion. Many of the children have learned through practice that kitten tails are not toys! Sharp claws and teeth of a pet are always on the alert. Take the time to show your little one how to properly care for and play with cats.
Recommended: Tips for new cat owners
Use your hand to gently guide the baby in his play, control the strength of the stroke. If you’re lucky, your pet will show approval by purring.
Cats and newborns
The appearance of a baby in the house will be stressful for your pet. Some cats don’t like these changes. Therefore, the sooner you introduce some elements related to the birth of a child, the better. So, for example, foreign veterinarians advise periodically playing records with the sounds that a child makes: crying, laughing, cooing.
Accustom your cat to the new smell beforehand. For example, you can iron it after treating your hands with baby lotion or powder.
This also includes the question of permutation. If necessary, move the litter box to a new location beforehand. Before the birth of the baby, the animal will get used to the new place, and you will save yourself from constant puddles.

AMERICA’S MOST ACCREDITED
We’re so proud!
Nationally only 10% of daycares are accredited – nearly 100% of our learning centers are. That’s a big difference,
and that means KinderCare kids are getting the very best. Here’s why.
SCHOOL-READY
What Learning Looks Like
Our talented early-childhood teachers set kids down the path toward becoming lifelong learners in a positive, safe, and nurturing environment.
Spring Valley KinderCare Programs
Infant Programs (6 weeks–1 year)
Leaving your baby in someone else’s care is a big step. Everyone at our
centers—most importantly, our naturally gifted infant teachers—will work with
you to make sure the transition goes smoothly. When you step into our infant
classroom, you’ll see how much we want your infant to feel safe, loved, and
ready to explore their world.
Toddler Programs (1–2 Years)
Everything in our toddler classroom is designed for little explorers. That’s
because a lot is going on at this age. When your child is wandering all over the
place, that means they’re learning and discovering new things every day. We’ll
help them explore their interests (and find new ones!) as they play and learn.
Discovery Preschool Programs (2–3 Years)
This age is filled with so much wonder and curiosity. That’s why we offer a ton
of books and toys and bring artwork down to kids eye level. Children in
discovery preschool also begin to learn how we all work together in a
classroom. Simple math and science, pretend play, and group play help them
get used to a more structured school setting.
Preschool Programs (3–4 Years)
This age is all about expression, when kids really start to form their own ideas
about what they want to play and how they want to create. Every day in our
preschool classroom, your child will explore science experiments, create
artwork, and play pretend—all the skills needed for their big next step:
kindergarten!
Prekindergarten Programs (4–5 Years)
When you walk into one of our pre-K classrooms, you’ll see artwork and
writing displayed around the room. Labels are everywhere to help kids connect
letters with words. You’ll also see pictures on the walls that reflect the families
in our community. Your child will also deepen their knowledge in language,
math, science, Spanish, and social skills.
Before- and After-School Programs (5–12 Years)
You can count on us to provide reliable care for your school-ager while you’re
at work, with safe transportation from our center to your child’s school and
back! Whether your child wants to start a drama club, build a volcano, or
create a comic book, they will have a place to follow their dreams. Your child
will start and end the day with a whole lot of fun!
School Break Programs (preschool, prekindergarten, and school-age)
Winter break, spring break, summer break—when school’s out (but you still need to work), you
can count on KinderCare to provide a safe and supportive learning environment that’s focused
on fun. We welcome children ages 5–12 during school break times and make sure they have a
sensational, screen-free experience they won’t forget.

Music Explorers™ (2 – 4 Years)
KinderCare families are already giving a standing ovation to our newest Learning
Adventures program: Music Explorers! Kids will learn to sing, move, listen, play
instruments, and even create their own tunes. Our original curriculum blends math,
science, social studies, literacy, and mindfulness (think yoga!) for a uniquely KinderCare
way of learning the foundations of music.
Phonics Adventures® (2 – 4 Years)
Learning how to read is a whole lot of fun at KinderCare! We help kids grow to love
books and words (and get ready for kindergarten) in our Phonics Adventures program.
From discovering the basics of vowels to practicing poetry, kids learn all about letters
and sounds in small-group lessons made just for their age group. (Bonus: Kids who
attend our phonics program are more prepared than their peers for school—and we
have the data to prove it.)
Our Teachers
We’re the only company in early childhood education to select teachers based on natural talent. Being a great educator isn’t enough though.
KinderCare teachers are also amazing listeners, nurturers, boo-boo fixers, and smile-makers. Put more simply,

My 5-year-old son has been attending the Spring Valley KinderCare for almost a year. He has grown leaps and bounds compared to any other preschool he has attended. Diagnosed at two-and-a-half with Autism, it has been very difficult to find a preschool that will accommodate his special needs but not treat him as “different.” Teacher Shonda has made the necessary accommodations without hesitation and is willing to learn what helps him succeed in a typical classroom environment. The staff has welcomed his therapists in with open arms. My son loves his classmates and sees the staff here as a second family.

My daughter has been a part of KinderCare in El Cajon on Jamacha for about two and a half years and she loves it. I love coming into the environment and getting kind greetings all throughout the day. My daughter has made a close relationship with all the children and staff. I feel so confident everyday that I drop off my child. I know that the teachers really care deeply about my child. She has learned so much and she is excelling in her education. She is ready to start kindergarten in the fall, which makes me a proud parent at this center. Thank you to all the management staff and teachers!

Autumn country camp for children in St. Petersburg, in Zolotoy Dolina – My school
The project is a class with an expert in which children prepare their final project. A performance is staged on the theater shift, a track is written on the musical shift, and so on.
Group – these are classes with leaders (counselors). Dating, team building, feedback and various games are held here to develop flexible skills: critical thinking, emotional intelligence, etc.
Master classes are optional classes that change every day. In an hour, a child can try something new: for example, mixing music, transplanting plants, or coloring T-shirts.
There is also a party – the main event in the camp and the end of the day. A big game that is tied to the shift legend. These can be quests, detective stories, economic games and large open spaces.
The schedule looks really tight, but we’ve arranged it so that the kids switch between different activities and don’t get tired. For example, after an intensive master class, where you need to think carefully, there is a walk where you can relax your brain and run. If today we have an active quest, then tomorrow we will discuss dilemmas. Children also have time to relax during lunch and afternoon tea.
Children do not get tired, because we alternate classes in terms of dynamism and format – and we try to make each lesson interesting for the child.
We promote non-formal education – this is when children also learn, but while playing. The method is based on the personal interest of the child. For example, in the camp we have a legend from the cartoon Gravity Falls. It is interesting and fun for children to follow the course of events, but at the same time they learn to negotiate during games, solve complex logic problems and play mind games to help the heroes defeat the evil monster.
Classes must be attended – this is a safety issue, because we need to know where the child is. If the child is not determined to participate in the process, he can simply watch on the sidelines – we will not force him. At the same time, if the child is worried about something, the teacher will discuss his problem with him and help him figure it out. Most often, the child needs attention and 10 minutes of rest to return to the group.
If the child falls ill, we will put money on a deposit, which can be spent on any of our activities: for example, the next camp or workshops. At the same time, money for accommodation is not returned – we reserve places in advance and cannot cancel the reservation.
Teachers and facilitators work with children, whom we carefully interview. These are either specialists with extensive experience in non-formal education, or graduates of our school of counselors – they work in tandem with more experienced ones.
Details about each member of the team can be found on the website:
https://myschoolnh.ru/komanda
If you want to talk to the teachers in person, come visit us, and the camp director will show how everything is arranged with us.
If a child goes to camp for the first time, it is normal that he will cry in the evenings.

Which summer courses for schoolchildren to choose in 2022? ⋆
Summer must be remembered. During the summer months, every adult and child should devote time to themselves – body, mind, soul. The cold gloomy time of winter and autumn draws strength from us, we simply have to make a quality reboot. Is not it? Until our children grow up, until the summer vacation is reduced to two vacation weeks, we simply must give the children an unforgettable experience. A good way to reboot during the holidays is summer courses for schoolchildren.
Throw the die! What will this summer bring us?
In 2022, online courses are still relevant – of course, if they are made by professionals. We have all seen enough of the horrors of school distance learning and we don’t want to do it anymore.
MAXIMUM Education is Russia’s largest supplementary education company for schoolchildren from grades 5 to 11. For more than 8 years we have been combining full-time education with distance learning, while 97% of families recommend us to others, remaining satisfied. All teachers undergo a rigorous selection process and a mandatory internal training system. The teaching methods and learning materials are developed taking into account the age characteristics of the students, so after our classes your child will have an interest in learning and new knowledge.
What summer courses are available in MAXIMUM Education for schoolchildren
Over 8+ years of practice, we have thoroughly studied the problems and needs of adolescents and developed a series of courses for students in grades 6-10 in basic school subjects:
- mathematics;
- Russian;
- social studies;
- physics;
- English;
- biology.
All classes are held completely online – twice a week for a month. No boring homework and boring theory – interesting practical exercises and interactive games in the team are waiting for your child. Join the MAXIMUM Education summer course now and get 5% discount with promo code MAXIMUMLETO5 .
For grades 10-11
Early preparation for the exam . Even if your child starts studying in the 10th grade in the fall, this does not mean that the exam is still far away. Time flies very quickly, and you need to learn colossal volumes of materials. Therefore, it is so important to start preparing for the Unified State Examination in advance and get acquainted with the main topics, at least in the compulsory subjects: the Russian language and mathematics. By the way, this will help you study better in high school – and your child will have every chance of getting a red certificate, which will add extra points when entering a university.
In our summer courses, the student will learn topics such as syntax and punctuation or algebra and geometry. This is a great chance to close knowledge gaps and prepare for the start of the school year.
For grades 8-9
Early preparation for the OGE. The exam at the end of the 9th grade may not seem so important, but in fact it is a real exam rehearsal. It is in grades 8-9 that the foundation of the knowledge that the student uses in final exams is laid. So you should not neglect the preparation for the OGE – it never hurts to once again consolidate knowledge and learn something new and useful.
For grades 8 and 9 we have prepared classes on the main topics of the Russian language and mathematics: grammar, punctuation, algebra and geometry.
For 6th and 7th grades
Increasing knowledge. High school is always a difficult time for a student. Everything is changing, more independence and discipline are needed, and not everyone is ready for this. As a result, grades deteriorate and motivation disappears. But you can cope with this if you quickly understand with which subjects the difficulties arose. Then you can quickly close gaps in knowledge and restore academic performance.
6th and 7th grade students will learn English and master the most complex mathematical topics such as fractions in the summer courses.
Generally for
all
Career guidance. When a child clearly understands what he is interested in and what he wants to do in the future, learning is much easier and more interesting. But finding yourself is not easy. That is why our career guidance experts help students identify strengths and weaknesses and try their hand at everything from IT to journalism.
During the month of attending the summer courses, the child will plunge into the gigantic world of professions, identifying the most in demand from the bottom. Relate your progress in hobbies and school subjects to the required professional skills. Thanks to our vocational guidance specialists, every teenager, whether he is a sixth grader or a future school graduate, will narrow down the circle of his career search.
With the purchase of any MAXIMUM Education summer course, you will receive 4 career guidance classes as a gift. Your child will get acquainted with demanded professions and understand what is right for him. Sign up!
How are the summer courses?
Summer courses are taught entirely online throughout the summer, from June to August. Each subject takes place at a fixed time, so you have the opportunity to enroll in several courses at once.
Each course lasts 4 weeks, all classes take place on our interactive online platform and are recorded for the duration of the course.
There are no more than 15 people in the group, which allows the teacher to pay attention to everyone. Our teachers organize the educational process in such a way that students find it interesting and fun. So no homework!
Hurry up to sign up for summer courses, while you can still get a 5% discount using the promo code MAXIMUMLETO5 .
Best Summer Schools and Camps: StudyLab Manager’s Diary
July 30
Hello everyone! My name is Lena Kislaya and I am the manager of study programs abroad at StudyLab. Every year I go on a tour of summer schools and camps to see the programs in action and bring only the best options to my clients in the future. It is always amazing how different schools are from each other and how different their energy is.
This year I’m on my way to Switzerland – the safest, most stable, surprisingly clean and beautiful country. In Geneva, I was immediately struck by how everything in this country is thought out and made for people. Everything is logical, clear and easy – even for people like me who are a little confused in space. Route for July 30: Geneva – Leysin – Villars-sur-Ollon.
Leysin American School in Leysin can be easily reached from Geneva with one change in Aigle. The school offers language, academic and sports programs.
As soon as I got to this school and met with the director of clubs and seminars, Keri Porter, I immediately felt a family atmosphere: every child smiles and easily communicates with the director, as if he had known her not for two or four weeks, but for many years . As it turned out, Keri is an American, she has been working at this school for four years, and as a child she went here to study.
Keri came up with the idea of separating the main subject and the club by interest, where you can choose German, Chinese, sports, robotics, instrumental music and even DJing.
In addition to the club, the summer program includes a core course: English, French, economics, global leadership and other subjects to choose from.
Children are taught how to make presentations and get rid of the fear of the audience.
After the leadership, we went to the “mystical phenomena” class, where the children were asked to investigate one of the events of their choice and put forward their own version of what is happening.
I was struck by how much fun the classes are. For example, as part of the French lessons, children from the beginner level group went with the teacher to the post office to practice the language – buy a postcard, sign it and send it to their parents. Then they went to the market together for groceries. It’s great when you see the fruits of your efforts and others begin to understand you 🙂
After a great time in Leysin, I took the train to Aigle through the picturesque countryside and from there to Villars-sur-Ollon!
At Beau Soleil College in Villars-sur-Ollon I was met by Kristina Ratishvili, who works at the summer school and the high school admissions office. I was immediately struck by the beauty of the school and its “brand new style”.
Beau Soleil offers a choice of English, French or Chinese. After lunch, you can choose between sports or seminars if you wish. There are many sections here, but the seminar “Glucose” was especially memorable, namely, happiness in the eyes of children, when they created toys and souvenirs with their own hands … from sugar!
Getting back to infrastructure, I was very pleasantly surprised by what the school has to offer. Last year, it was renovated, and now there are even more amazing opportunities for children: an outdoor and indoor swimming pool, sports fields, a gym, a sports hall, a theater, an art studio. They even have their own exhibition museum!
The school has a course in robotics: children are working with MIT to create a new computer console!
My guide Kristina studied at this school from the age of 11 and was the first schoolgirl from Russia in Beau Soleil. She fell in love with the school so much that she decided to return here after university and continue to develop it! When asked what she likes most about her job, Kristina lovingly speaks about the philosophy of the school, which consists of four words: respect, responsibility, ambition, effort.
This summer school is the perfect place to immerse yourself in an English environment, as the teaching staff is all English.
July 31st
Today is day X: I’ll be watching the Le Rosey school I’ve always wanted to see! I was very interested in why this school is the most expensive, but the children still return here year after year. A bit of history: Le Rosey school was founded in 1880 as a protest against the German education system and consisted of only four boys! Now more than 750 lucky people come here all summer, and 420 schoolchildren from 8 to 17 years old study at the secondary school. More than 200 people work on the summer program with children.
Director of Admissions Felipe Laurent meets me at the gate.
By the way, he himself studied at Le Rosey from the age of 13. And now Felipe is the admissions director of the summer school.
The school immediately impresses with its territory, atmosphere and infrastructure for sports and creativity: swimming pools, a synthetic football field, tennis courts with individual coaches, basketball with coach Tony, who has been working with children for more than 10 years and plays in the prestigious Swiss basketball team himself .
Interestingly, 90% of the school’s staff have been coming back here for the summer for many years – there are even those who have been working at the school for over 40 years!
The school also offers water sports on the lake: wakeboarding, surfing, water skiing, sailing and more. All this can be tried from the age of 9.
After meeting Felipe and touring the school, we went to class. The school offers to choose English, French, mathematics or a sports academy (tennis, basketball) as the main subject. You also need to select seven options for sports and creativity: art studio, ceramics, dance, circus art, photography, drama, chess, football, basketball, badminton, archery, rock climbing, tennis, swimming, windsurfing, water skiing, sailing and much more.
Four times a week, excursion programs are organized – entertainment (for example, a water park) or educational (excursions to a museum or around the city).
After that, I looked at an adult school in Geneva, which offers parents a useful time in Geneva and take English or French classes (in a group or individually).
August 1st
Today I’m going to the ski resort of Verbier! You ask, why am I going there and what to do there in the summer?! A lot of everything, and now I’ll tell you about it 🙂
In the tourist town of Verbier, in July and August, there are almost never any places in hotels, so you need to deal with this issue in advance. At this time, a jazz music festival takes place in Verbier, and many tourists come here to combine outdoor activities and visiting the festival. In Verbier, I visited two camps.
The first camp is Altitude, which accepts children from 3 to 14 years old. I was met by a charming and energetic Englishwoman, Laura, who is the director of the summer program and does her best to ensure that the children are in a great mood every minute and have a good time at the camp. At the end of the meeting, I really did not want to say goodbye to her – Laura is a wonderful storyteller and an interesting person.
Altitude has a family atmosphere, as the camp is in a cozy chalet and accepts only 50 children to ensure that every child receives maximum attention. Parents bring very young children from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Here they are taught by an English teacher, but not at their desks, but with the help of toys, fairy tales, songs, games and much more. Classes are held in English or French.
While the kids are learning, parents will find something to do: golf, tennis, mountain biking, hiking, English, French or other language classes.
For children from 6 to 14 years old, the camp offers a choice of English, French or mountain adventures. In the language program, children learn the language in an interactive way for three hours in the morning. Of course, there is also grammar when you need to work at your desk. For example, I got into English and cooking classes, where the children made up a recipe and cooked it together with the teachers. Groups are small, 5-6 people each, but there were also 3 people each – almost individual lessons.
All staff are English, as are half of the children in the mountain adventure program. Therefore, the practice of English is more than enough. And the name of the program speaks for itself! Here they learn English or French through communication during hiking, orientation on the ground, drawing up a route, lighting a fire, crossing rivers. It helps you overcome your fears. I think it’s very interesting when your child combines learning a language and developing skills that can help him in life.
In the afternoon you can go in for sports: golf, horseback riding, tennis, team games, swimming, hiking. On weekends, of course, excursions. One of the excursions will be a trip to Montreux: this is an amazingly beautiful city that has forever settled in my heart. Like Charlie Chaplin and Freddie from Queens.
To summarize, I think the school is ideal for kids who come with their parents or on their own.
The second camp, Les Elfes, accepts a lot more people (up to 150), so I would recommend it to older children – from 12-13 years old. At the reception, I was met by Maria, a girl who has been working here since April. By the way, she is from Ukraine, so if necessary, the child can turn to her, she will prompt and help.
After I met Sandy, who is in charge of training and recreation programs. Sandy said that the camp offers English, French, German, Italian or Chinese.
I would say that this is an excellent choice for children who love hiking and sports, as an overnight trip to the lake is an obligatory part of the program. Children live in tents or small chalets, depending on their age. The camp also offers a choice of sports programs: football, basketball, tennis, golf, swimming, mountain biking and much more. In addition, you can take one seminar for the whole day for an additional fee: first aid, leadership, future career, creativity, cooking, watch factory. Classes are conducted by the best specialists in their field.
In general, if you are interested in hiking and sports, this is the place for you. And I return to Montreux, I go there 🙂 And in the evening I leave for Lugano – this is a resort in the Italian part of the country. I’ll tell you about it tomorrow 🙂
2 August
How beautiful it is in Lugano! It’s amazing how this city combines the purity and clarity of Switzerland and the relaxation and cheerfulness of Italy! Today I will go to the American school Tasis Lugano and meet with one of the directors of the school – William.
From the center of Lugano to the school about 10 minutes by car, about 50 minutes on foot. I got up early to get to school and get to know the city at the same time.
Tasis Lugano is located on a mountain with a very beautiful view of the city. There is definitely a place for parents to relax while the kids are at Tasis school: take a walk by the lake, in an English park, go boating or go to the museum.
William met me at the entrance to the school. William told me that their summer school is very popular among both Europeans and Russians, and among American children, as they offer not only English, but also many other interesting programs: Italian and French, musical theater, photography, architecture, design, cooking, robotics and more. For example, for the youngest from 4 to 10 years old, there is a program in English, Italian, French, science, robotics and STEAM. This is not the usual STEM we all know: science, technology, engineering, maths. Tasis School believes that good learning is impossible without arts, so creativity is an integral part of learning.
Most of the teachers are from Tasis Academic Secondary School, that is, the highest class!
Then we looked into the study of the children of the older group, who were engaged in musical theater.
Of course, these are delightfully happy children with wonderful voices 🙂 At the end of the program, the guys will perform in front of the whole school with their performance, and I’m sure they will be applauded endlessly.
Children take a painting course on the lawn. It is very interesting that you can choose the main course in English on any topic, but after lunch, just like everyone else, play sports – as a hobby or at a professional level at the Milan Academy football academy or at the Olimpia Milano Basketball club .
I was amazed that all the new school buildings, residences, sports complexes were built with donations from school graduates. It’s great to have such grateful students. But how much work and love you need to invest in them!
So why should you go to Tasis? It is very beautiful and informative here, and the atmosphere is motivating and creative!
August 3rd
From Lugano I went to Laax in the north of Switzerland to visit the Junior and Teen Camp. On the bus we climbed higher and higher into the mountains. When we arrived, I immediately felt this incredible air – the freshest and cleanest I have ever met!
I met Gilles, the director of the summer program, who spent his entire childhood here, as the program is now 53 years old!
It all started with the fact that the founder of the program, Bernard, invited the daughter of a friend from Qatar to his place for the summer to teach her French, since he is a French teacher by training. Bernard is responsible for both academics and recruitment. At the camp, your child can choose English, German, French or Spanish. Rose-Marie Nemeth is responsible for sports and creativity, so that everyone does what they are interested in and learns with the guys of their level.
The camp offers swimming, football, tennis, basketball, golf, yoga, aerobics, horseback riding, trampoline, skateboarding, cycling, circus arts, painting, singing, cooking, playing an instrument, hiking. Gilles organized a tour of the camp for me – there are very comfortable living conditions. If this is important to you, you are here! There are single and double rooms, but if the children want to live together, they can do it for them. The Summer Camp is held annually on the basis of the same hotel: in winter it is an ordinary hotel where Europeans come to ski in Laax. This year, Laax also became the venue for mountain bike competitions.
The camp really has a family atmosphere as it only accommodates 85 children and this week there are 45 children. Everyone looks happy and busy. We went to the lake, where water sports, barbecues and outdoor games are organized for children. Interestingly, the ratio of staff to children is 1:3, that is, there are two kids or four teenagers per curator.

“I’m very pleased so far with the school. I know there are some things that still need to be worked out specific to this campus. Overall I am impressed with the organization and expectations that have been set for the children. My son is in 4th grade and has had nothing but great things to say so far. I was a bit nervous about the “accelerated” curriculum but my son seems to be moving right along with the speed. I’m happy to have found a school with a well rounded art and music curriculum. It’s nice to have options with schools like this.”

Enrollment Form in Glendale, AZ
Canyon Pointe Academy is a tuition-free public charter school. Therefore, admission to Canyon is not limited based upon income level, athletic ability, academic ability, ethnicity, national origin, gender, disabling condition, or proficiency in the English language. In accordance with A.R.S. 15-184(A), Canyon Pointe Academy admits all eligible students who submit timely, completed application (registration) when space is available in the specific program, class, grade level or building. As allowed by ARS 15-184(I), Canyon does not enroll students who have been expelled or are in the process of being expelled from another school.
Canyon provides a demanding academic program with an emphasis on the development of analytical thinking, knowledge, character, and leadership skills. When deciding whether Canyon Pointe Academy is the best fit for your family, we recommend meeting with the principal and attending an orientation. Canyon believes that a motivated student, with parent support, will excel in an environment of high academic and behavioral standards. As a student, you don’t have to possess a special talent or be the smartest person in the class to enroll at Canyon or be successful here. All you need is a desire to be more than you are right now.
Upon receipt of a completed registration, Canyon Pointe Academy’s administration will determine if space is available in the appropriate program/class/grade level and will notify the parent when the student has been accepted. Because we need a completed file to schedule classes, we encourage parents to submit all paperwork at one time. We do not use academic or disciplinary information/records to deny enrollment, except as allowed by ARS 15-184(I). However, a student will lose enrollment status if the enrollment paperwork does not match the academic records from the prior school. For example: If Canyon accepted the student into 4th grade based on enrollment paperwork, but the prior school did not promote the student from 3rd grade to 4th grade, the student forfeits his/her place in Canyon’s 4th grade class and will be placed at the end of the waiting list for 3rd grade.
As allowed by ARS 15-184(I), Canyon Pointe Academy honors the expulsions of other schools/districts and does not enroll students who have been expelled or are in the process of being expelled from another school. Therefore, a student’s file is not complete and the student will not be scheduled for classes until Pointe has been able to review the student’s complete disciplinary record. Our staff also honors the suspensions of other schools/districts. Students who have not been expelled and are not in the process of being expelled but are under active suspension from another school will be admitted if there is space, and required to serve out their suspension by attending Pointe’s OSS Program prior to being scheduled for regular classes or participating in extracurricular and/or campus activities. Additionally, students with prior disciplinary actions may be required to participate in a Preventative Behavior Intervention Program.
A student who has received a failing grade from another school or district may be required to participate in a Preventative Academic Intervention Program. Canyon is not a credit recovery school and does not have a credit recovery program. Students must have credits necessary for their academic program. Therefore, a student’s file is not complete and the student cannot be scheduled for classes until Pointe has been able to review the student’s complete academic record.

Only the Student Registration (1), and proof of residency (2) must be submitted for the student’s enrollment application to be considered complete. AMS PARENT – GREAT SCHOOLS REVIEW

“My girls and I love the Academy of Math and Science. They’ve both been there since kindergarten and are now fifth and sixth graders. We are very happy with the curriculum and how far ahead they are academically than if they were in a regular public school. I have no doubt that when they finish the eighth grade they will be more than ready for high school. My grandson started kindergarten there this year and will be continuing with AMS as well.”
AMS PARENT

“The school is great. Children are doing the next years curriculum. In 2nd grade, my son is doing multiplication. They also have a wonderful booster club that helps parents get involved in the school. They teach piano or guitar to the students too!”

“The Academy of Math & Science has been such a blessing for my son and myself. The teachers and staff have treated my ‘special needs’ boy with respect, as well as the firmness he needs. They have been responsive & professional in every way. The office staff & administrators are the very best!! I was not surprised at all when AMS was named #1, but rather was pleased that the state recognized what was obvious to me. ”

The original Glenwood Road campus opened in 1929. Named after Herbert Hoover, [3] The school was built to serve the northern foothills of Glendale, which was growing rapidly in the 1920s. [4] The first issue of the school yearbook, Scroll , included copies of letters written by Hoover and his wife Lou. The school dedicated this issue to Hoover. [3]
The school has been the setting for several television programs and films, most notably Because They’re Young , which was filmed on campus during summer break in 1959. [5] The original campus, except for the auditorium and physical education facilities, was demolished in 1966 and replaced by a new building completed in 1969. In 1990, due to the constant and expected growth in the number of students entering Hoover High, the Building for 33 classes was built and delivered at 1992 year. [2]
In 2001, Hoover High School met its School Academic Achievement Index (API) and received over $150,000 in Governor’s Honorable Mention. Last two years [ when? ] 40% of graduates planned to attend a four-year college. About 44.4% of graduates of retirement age meet the A-G requirements of the University of California. Hoover High School offers 22 different Advanced Placement (AP) classes that cover a wide range of disciplines including history, English language and literature, science, foreign language, math, economics, art, psychology, and computer programming.
In 2010, Hoover High School reached its school-wide API goal with an overall API of 772; an increase of 11 points compared to 2009. Over the past 10 years, the Hoover High API has grown by 158 points. Fifty students have been recognized by the College Board as “AP Fellows”. Another 15 students received the title of “AP Scholar with Distinction” and 20 students were awarded the title of “Scientist with Distinction”. In 2013, Hoover began offering one AP class to ninth graders in liberal geography, becoming one of the first high schools to do so.

In the fall of 2015, the school’s automotive program was relaunched with the support of car dealerships on the Brand Car Boulevard. [7]
Student discipline and culture
In 2010, outgoing school principal Kevin Welsh stated that racial tensions often occur between Armenian and Hispanic/Latino students. [6] In 2000, Jeffrey Gettleman and Lee Condon of Los Angeles Times reported that in the case of disputes between Armenians and Hispanics, people adhere to racial identity and that groups do not often mix in society. According to Gettleman and Condon, the school’s recent alumni and current students have described it as “polarized” between Hispanics and Armenians. [8] Tensions between Armenians and Hispanics arose in other parts of Los Angeles. [6]
Two violent incidents involving Hoover students: the shooting of Avetis “Avo” Demirchyan in 1998, implicated in a dispute between Armenians; and the 2000 stabbing of 12th grade student Raul Aguirre, who attempted to intervene between Armenian and Hispanic gangs but was not himself a gang member. Both incidents did not take place on campus, but Welsh said they damaged the school’s reputation. [6] The Aguirra incident was the first death associated with the Latin-Armenian controversy. [8]
On October 3, 2018, a fight broke out in the upper quarter of the school during lunch break. [9]

Hoover High School offers students a wide range of sports including boys’ water polo (3rd place in the 2008-2009 season)gg. And again the 2009-2010 season. And reached the quarterfinals of the CIF VI division) and water polo for girls, volleyball for boys and girls, football for boys and girls (league champions 2006-2007), basketball for boys and girls, American football for boys (girls are also welcome) , baseball, softball, track, cross country, golf, pep, swimming and wrestling.
The 1975 baseball team won the CIF 4A championship by beating Lakewood High 2-1 at Dodger Stadium.
An important aspect of the school’s history is the longstanding rivalry between the cities and Glendale High School. “BGD”, known as “Big Game Day” or “Glendale Victory Day”, is the school year’s biggest social/sporting event. Even though every sport has its own “BGD” game, American football is the largest of them all. On the day of the big football game, the school hosts activities such as “The Poster Drop”, an all-grade competition (9-12) held on the Friday morning of the game, as well as spirit gatherings. The game usually takes place at Glendale High School because there is no “correct” field at Hoover High School. The BGD game did not take place in 2018 due to security issues related to a large-scale brawl that occurred in the weeks leading up to the game. [10]
The school’s mascot, “Tornado”, was formerly temporarily changed to “Gusts of Wind” when the Kansas Team, whose city had just been destroyed by a tornado, came to visit. [ citation needed ]
Vic Francie, who coached the Hoover track teams for 27 years, previously helped the 1924-1925 Glendale High School football team. University of Southern California student. [11]
The school also has a wrestling team. In 2014, the number of participants decreased, but coach Dave Beard stated that the remaining students were more committed. [12]
In 2015, the school band won its first California State Championship. [13]

Students nominated for the Hoover High School Academy of Fine Arts. Academy students are encouraged to take advanced classes at Hoover to emphasize the fine arts in their degree program. Students must complete three years of art classes during their enrollment at Hoover to be considered alumni of the Academy. Of these three courses, at least two must be held at Hoover. In addition to the academic distinction that membership in the Academy brings, students are eligible to participate in activities at the Hoover Art Gallery.
Jazz Ensemble
Students audition for the Hoover High School Studio Jazz Orchestra, Hoover’s premier performing group. All instrumentalists are invited. Trumpets, trombones and saxophones participate, as well as flutes, clarinets, violins, cellos and, at some point, bassoon and harp. Jazz students play a variety of musical styles, including swing, Latin jazz, Afro-Cuban, reggae, jazz-rock fusion, pop, and jump swing. The studio jazz band has won more major awards than any other high school jazz band in the country.
Hoover Tornado Marching Band
The Hoover Tornado Marching Band (HTMB) was revived by Martin Rees in 2009 when the program ceased in the 1950s due to financial problems. Since their revival, the band has performed at numerous events ranging from football games to official and paid hotel events. HTMB is a competitive group that currently competes in the California State Championship (CSBC). From 2012, the strip was classified as a 3A split group until 2017 when the group switched to a 4A split due to chain size changes. The group continues to compete every year during the fall season, representing themselves, their city, and their school. To join a band, students do not need a musical education to work in an award-winning band.
HTMB are currently CSBC Division 3A State Champions in 2015 and 2016 and 4A Division Champions in 2017. They also won bronze medals at the 2015 and 2017 CSBC Grand Championships and placed 4th at the 2016 Grand Championships. The HTMB percussion section continues to defend their title of the best percussion section in any division they are in since 2013 and won the title of the best percussion section in the whole chain at the Grand Championships in 2017.

George Moyes was appointed director and continued in office for 35 years until 1937. The school continued to grow rapidly and the school moved several times, in 1907 to Harvard Street and in 1914 to Maryland Street.
The school continued to grow and enrollment reached 800 in 1920 and 1050 in 1921. It was then decided to move classes 10, 11 and 12 to a new campus at the corner of present-day Broadway and Verdugo Road (9Class. students remained on the Maryland Street campus and were later integrated into area high schools). The school has remained at this location (1440 East Broadway, on the southeast corner of Verdugo) since 1924. [2]
The class of 1960 was the largest in Glendale with 903 graduates. Crescent Valley High School opened in September 1960 and served a significant proportion of Glendale’s students.
School hit hard during spring break 22 March 1964 years old when a student, worried about his grades, set fire to a room that he thought held grade information. The fire quickly spread through the administration building and adjacent campus buildings. The decision was made to redevelop the campus, leaving the swimming pool, baseball field, tennis courts, and football stadium as the only remnants of the old campus.
In 1966, Captain Max Schumacher, reporter for the local radio station. KMPC landed his helicopter on the football field during a school assembly and spoke about traffic safety. He later died in a police helicopter crash near Dodger Stadium.
In the early 1990s, the school board decided to reintegrate ninth graders into Glendale Unified School District high schools (with the exception of Crescent Valley High School, which had already transitioned to a four-year high school in September 1983). . As a result, the “J” building was completed in 1994-1995 and opened in September 1995.
In 2001, Glendale High School celebrated its centenary. There were 3500 students then, and there were more than 100 teachers. [3]

Glendale High School was the only public high school to receive this honor.
