Little hands can do so many things
Welcome and thank you for visiting. We think you’ll see after browsing that what you’re looking for in on-campus child care is right here at the SUNY Cortland Child Care Center.
Our center is located on the SUNY Cortland campus and was opened in 1993 to serve students and staff of the college, New York state employees, SUNY Cortland alumni and members of the community. Everything within the center was designed and built with the young child in mind, so the facility is child-centered and appropriately furnished.
We’re a New York state licensed child care center, licensed for up to 98 children. Our center has seven classrooms: two infant rooms, two toddler rooms and three preschool rooms. We have extensive infant, toddler and preschool playgrounds directly outside our building with covered patios for rainy day play. We also have two indoor gross motor spaces where the children can expend their energy and use their large muscles when the weather is not conducive to outdoor play. Daily activities and routines are geared to promote development of children cognitively, physically, socially and emotionally.
Tuition assistance is available to income eligible students.
Our staff are all professionals in the early childhood field. Our teachers all have appropriate credentials in early childhood education or a related field. And all our staff are required to participate in ongoing training to keep abreast of current trends in child development and education.
One of the best benefits of being on campus is the involvement of the SUNY Cortland students in the center. Our early childhood department collaborates with our program, involving students through fieldwork placements and practicum experiences. The students contribute an energy and enthusiasm that is contagious among the children and staff here at the center. What better way for them to learn than active involvement in our daily programming.
We’re hoping that this “virtual” visit to our home page will be followed with a personal visit from you. We’ll all look forward to meeting you.
Most sincerely, The SUNY Cortland Child Care Center Staff and Administration

Knife attack on a kindergarten in China: six dead

Police near a school in Guangdong province (file photo)
At least six people were killed and one was injured in a stabbing attack on a kindergarten in Lianjiang County, south China’s Guangdong Province.
“Among the victims are one caregiver, two parents and three pupils. One suspect has been arrested,” a spokeswoman for the city administration said.
The attack happened at 7:40 am local time on Monday.
Police say they have arrested a 25-year-old man on suspicion of assault and are investigating the cause of the incident.
Authorities classify what happened as a deliberate attack, but his motive has not yet been established.
Subscribe to our email newsletter and every evening from Monday to Friday you will receive the most important news of the day, as well as context to help you understand what is happening.
Mass killing spree
Such incidents are quite rare in China, but in recent years there have been a series of knife attacks in the country.
The BBC has counted at least 17 attacks on Chinese schools, colleges and universities in recent times. Ten of them occurred between 2018 and 2023.
In all cases, the attackers were men, and, as further investigations showed, almost all of them acted deliberately, thus expressing public protest.
Ownership of firearms is prohibited in China, so most of the attackers use knives. Although in one case a chemical spray was used, resulting in injuries to 50 people – all students in the same class.
Last August, a knife attacker broke into a kindergarten in southeastern Jiangxi province, killing three people and injuring six others.
In April 2021, two children died and 16 were injured during a stabbing in Beilu City, Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region.
In October 2018, 14 children were injured in a knife attack on a kindergarten in Chongqing, southwest China.
Possible causes?
Experts believe that one of the reasons for the surge in violence in China may be the Covid-19 pandemic, during which many Chinese cities have experienced some of the longest and most stringent lockdowns in the world.
According to experts, the accumulated feelings of anger due to the loss of a job, investment or relationship can push people to crime.
Other possible factors could be high levels of stress due to high expectations placed on young people in Chinese society, high unemployment and a sharply widening gap between rich and poor, experts say.
Since 2010, the Chinese authorities have stepped up security measures around schools.

Babysitters and nannies share the same primary responsibility of providing safe and enriching care for your child, but there are a few differences between them. Babysitters are typically hired for occasional work on an irregular schedule. If you’re looking for last-minute care for date night, or the occasional few hours after school, a babysitter is a great option.
Nannies, on the other hand, are more commonly associated with regular work, whether full or part-time, offering daily or consistent care to a particular family. There are also several different types of nannies, including au pairs, house managers, doulas, live-in, and overnight nannies.
Identifying the type and frequency of child care you’ll need is the best way to decide whether a babysitter or nanny is a better fit for your family.
Babysitters on Sittercity love providing enriching experiences for your children, and sharing their passions with them. They’re happy to participate in outdoor activities like sports, or indoor activities like music, baking, tutoring help, and art. Wherever your child’s interests lie, babysitters on Sittercity are prepared to engage them in a nurturing way.

More and more in today’s world both parents have employment and need suitable day care centers for their children. These early stages in a child’s life are very important to their growth and development. Choosing a good child day care center is vital, one where the adult won’t just plunk your children down in front of a soap opera all day and feed them Top Ramen. You should look for day care centers that provide learning programs and playtime for your child, along with a safe and healthy environment.
There are many different types of day care centers, ranging from basic nurseries to preschools that will provide more of a learning environment for your children. Some day care centers specialize in a specific age range, while others are more open. When you’re contemplating placing your child in a specific day care center, you should visit each one with your child. In this way, you can see how your child reacts to the other children who are there and to the caregiver. You want your child to be happy and comfortable.
While some day care centers provide a greater variety of activities than others, any good day care center is going to encourage positive interaction among all of the children. They will also have rules that promote good behavior, learning, manners, and child development. You certainly don’t want to have to worry that your child is going to develop bad habits from day care.

While you don’t need to go overboard in choosing suitable day care centers, you should approach the subject seriously and with thought. Your child is going to be spending a good-sized portion of his or her life in day cares and you want to make sure it is going to be a positive experience. Family is the most important thing in the world and you should make sure that your children are your first priority. When you are considering a day care center, you should look at where it is located and how much it costs. There’s not much sense in putting your son or daughter in daycare so that you can work full time and spending most of what you earn on the day care center’s tuitions and your travel expenses. If that’s the case, you might as well stay home with your child. However, if you do truly need the money, there are usually plenty of day care services available and it shouldn’t be too difficult to find one close by that is reasonably priced.
Different Kinds of Child day Care Centers
While child day care centers are common, there is such a huge demand for this service that there are now quite a variety of options available other than basic day care. These include the following:
Home child care or family childcare
Child care services
Preschool
Nursery
Home child care tends to be the most popular option because it is generally more affordable and a smaller environment. While some day care centers are quite large and can provide better early childhood education, it is also more difficult for each child to receive personal attention. Day care centers that are based out of someone’s home are usually more personal and your child can receive more care and nurturing. Most parents want their children to be receiving love and affection, the care that they themselves would give them. They don’t want a day care business that is merely going to make sure that their child is still alive and adequately healthy.
Home child care providers are also more adaptable, generally speaking. This means that if your child likes a certain song sung to them before they take their nap each day, the home care provider is more likely to be willing to do that than someone in a larger day care facility. Most adult home child care providers are parents themselves, making them better able to understand and love your child.
Other Things to Think About
One of the first steps you should take after picking out a family day care center that you think will be suitable for your child is do a little investigating. This can involve talking to the parents of the other children that use the child day care center to see what they think about it. You should also always check to make sure the child care service you are considering is legally licensed to operate in your state. Licensing officials check criminal records and ensure that the child care provider has emergency response training and a safe and healthy environment for the children. As mentioned earlier, it is a good idea to visit the child day care center that you are considering. You should do this at least a couple of times, and try to go at different times of the day so that you can get a better idea of what kind of schedule they have. This will help you to see how your own child would fit in. If you are having difficulties finding the appropriate child care environment for your son or daughter, there are some other options. Some people get family and friends to help out, while others hire a nanny. Adult nannies are a good option because they ensure that your child receives personal attention and quality child care. However, this also means that your child will not receive as much social interaction since he or she won’t have other children to play with like in a family day care center.
No matter what option you decide to go with, make sure that you know who you are leaving your child with. Meet them, get to know them, and let your child do the same. Do some research on the internet to make sure that no one has had negative experiences with the day care center you are considering. Check to make sure that they are legally licensed. Once you have done all of this, you can feel more confident and secure in knowing that you have chosen the right day care center for your child.
Switching Day Care Centers
Choosing Another Child Care Provider
So you want to switch day care providers for your kids but you don’t know where to start or what to choose among the plethora of options out there in this world. It is fittingly one of the most important decisions of a young parent’s journey due to the fact that a child’s first formative years up until the age of six is critical. It is important for parents to not just consider the monetary impact of these choices but also the emotional, intellectual, and social future impacts the choice of a day care provider will have on their kids in the long term future. So let’s discuss some general tips to consider for the parent and the child to consider when one is looking to switch day care providers within a short time frame.
First, you must consider the cost of attending some of the more prestigious and rigorous day care provider centers in your area. In some areas, let’s face the reality that the more money per month per child spent; the better the facilities and the educational value experience offered for your child. Things such as using smart boards and I Pad’s to enhance the learning experience is a very real possibility in these places. However, if a parent is budget conscious they can still afford this experience but it would mean cutting back on all or most non-necessity spending. This would include curbing your eating out habits as well as any leisure entertainment or travel activity and place that money instead into your child’s future day care home. If an expensive day care sees that you are making an effort to keep up with the payments; then they will be more willing to work with you and not let your child leave that place. For a child going to this environment, they need to consider whether or not they will fit into this environment, things like playtime, feeding time, and individual care of the staff- is it received well by the child? These will make the difference between choosing these ones or a cheaper alternative. Cheaper is not all bad if the quality and availability of care is there for your child in the first place.
Secondly, you need to consider your travel times and distance of day care relative to your work and other important places like the hospital, grocery store, bank, and places that you frequent on a daily basis. Is it near enough that you can get to your child should he/she become ill or need special attention so that the day care center can contact you and arrange a meeting with you the same day if needed.
Furthermore, you need to consider the overall cleanliness and friendliness of the day care center provider. Do not underestimate a clean environment for your kid to play and learn in with other kids. Your kid will enjoy making new friends in a clean and safe environment. Plus you as a parent will enjoy the peace of mind of knowing that your child will not be being home any unwanted germs and diseases into your house. Parents must also consider if there is a dispute over payment and care; how does the management and staff deal with such requests? If there is a lackadaisical approach to your core issues; then that is a bad prelude of things to come concerning your child’s care. Your child will probably feel like he/she is being neglected or not fed on time and will start to complain to you ever so slightly that something is not right. When they do, do not hesitate to take them out of that day care center and find another one immediately.
In a recessionary economy, it is okay and permissible for both parents and kids to demand the best care for their dollar. Make your day care dollar stretch by reading all of the material and brochures and visiting every day center on your list until you find that perfect fit for your child. It’s out there; it is just waiting on you to find it!
Child Care Options for Low Income Families
One of the most frustrating aspects of being a working citizen is not having the ability to afford childcare. The majority of day care facilities charge as much as $300 per week for each child. That amount is difficult for middle-class citizens to pay. Low-income families cannot fathom paying such an expense. Luckily, the government and the various states have developed programs that help low-income families get the childcare they deserve. The following is some information on those programs:
Extended Day Program
The extended day program can assist low-income working parents during the regular school year. Many school districts offer this program. The school keeps children before and after school hours for a small monthly fee. A parent can drop a child off as early as 7:00 a.m. and pick the child up as late as 6:00 p.m. This program is excellent for low-income workers with daytime weekday jobs. The cost is approximately $150 per month for before and after school. The weekly rate is approximately $37.50, which is extremely competitive.
The attendants participate in various activities with the children before and after school. They help the children with their homework so that the parents have less stress when they come home from work. They give the children a full breakfast in the morning program and a snack in the evening program. Parents can opt to pay for the morning program only, the evening program only, or both programs. The evening program is the more expensive of the two because it lasts so many hours after the school releases the children. The evening program is $100 while the morning program is $52.
The Child Care Assistance Program
CCAP is a special program that provides childcare assistance to certain low-income families. People who are collecting TANF are automatically eligible to receive this assistance. Teenage parents who are working on obtaining their educations are also eligible for CCAP. Those who are not collecting TANF can still qualify if they are pursuing education that will improve their work skills and job opportunities. Parents can apply for CCAP assistance with the Department of Children & Family Services. The financial guidelines for qualification are along the lines of a $3,000 per month income threshold for a four-person family. The applicant must have proof of income, social security cards, birth certificates, and immunization records for all children. Application processing can take up to 30 days.
Head Start
Head start is a program for children between the ages of three and five. The program provides childcare services and medical services to the children who qualify. It is funded by the Administration of Children’s Services. The Head Start program covers childcare from 7 a. m. to 5 p.m. Teachers work with the children to fine-tune their social and developmental skills. Those who are interested in the program may apply online. Applicants go on a waitlist until there is an available slot in the program. It is best for an interested person to complete an application as quickly as possible since the wait may be extended.
Child Care Voucher Program
The Child Care Voucher Program is in effect in many states throughout the United States. It provides a subsidy of up to 95 percent of childcare cost to low-income families. Subsidy recipients will choose an eligible provider from the list of licensed providers. They may also select a relative or an in-home provider. The Child Care Voucher Program covers the childcare from 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Monday through Friday. This is known as the traditional childcare period. However, the program also covers non-traditional times for parents who work odd shifts. It covers nights, weekends, and evenings.
A wide variety of options is available for low-income childcare. Many stay-at-home moms also run small day care businesses in which they discount their services. There is a way to make working and taking care of your children affordable.

Accountability ratings
Texas assigns ratings to districts and campuses that designate their performance in relation to the state’s accountability system.
For the 2021-2022 school year, the state gave only A – C ratings. All Texas public school districts and campuses that would have received a D or F rating instead received the label “Not Rated: SB 1365.” In addition, not all schools and districts are rated because some are alternative education programs and treatment facilities.

Redevelopment of Del Valle High School Stadium in Austin, Texas
Date: 07/20/2021
During the reconstruction of the stadium of the Del Valle school in Austin (Texas, USA) acoustic systems Electro-Voice and amplifiers Dynacord were installed, and the operation of the entire complex is carried out using the program Dynacord SONICUE and the matrix mixer processor 9000 5 MXE5 . This installation allowed to bring the sound quality of this arena to a new level.
“There are many elements involved in creating a good stadium sound system, but the SONICUE software and the new MXE digital matrix have made it much easier for us to design and operate a system with great sound. Del Valle staff and students, and indeed I myself am very pleased with the work done” , – says Project Manager Brent Thornhill.
The Dynacord SONICUE software and the MXE5 matrix processor are the key elements of the new PA system for the Del Valle Stadium

Southwest Building Systems (SBS) , which develops and installs outdoor sound systems and large video screens, recently completed an upgrade to Memorial Stadium’s AV system for 4400 places at Del Valle , which is located in the suburbs of the Texas capital city of Austin.
“SONICUE software with the MXE5 digital matrix has made our job of delivering great sound easier than ever.” – Brent Thornhill, Southwest Building Systems
The terms of reference and funds allocated for the project allowed SBS Development Manager Brent Thornhill to use the Matrix Mixer Processor Dynacord MXE5 to control all parameters of a system that consists of waterproof Electro-Voice loudspeakers powered by Dynacord power amplifiers. The intuitive Dynacord SONICUE sound system management software was used to lay out and set up the main sound system.
“This system is part of a large renovation of all stadium systems” , says Brent Thornhill, who designed and installed the system for Southwest Building Systems. “This installation was the first MXE5 matrix processor project in North America and is a very interesting experience for us.”
The sound amplification system of the stadium consists of two portals of eight elements of the XLD29 line array1 on the sides of a large video board and each of the portals sounds the podium from its side. In addition to the portals, a special platform is equipped with a stack of four Electro-Voice X12i-128 subwoofers (two 18” speakers) in a cardioid configuration, which is responsible for transmitting low frequencies for the entire stadium. The portal systems are powered by three Dynacord IPX10:4 installation power amplifiers, while the subwoofer array is powered by a single IPX20:4 amplifier. The amplifiers are housed in the video screen control room in the same rack as the MXE5 matrix processor and network switches. All speakers are fully protected against water and dust according to the IP55 standard.
The MXE5 is a 24×24 matrix with 12 analog mic/line inputs, 8 line outputs, and 24 Dante audio channels. Full integration with SONICUE software allows the MXE5 matrix processor to function as a professional audio mixer and audio signal router, as well as provide full system health monitoring and full control over all integrated elements. Thanks to processing with a sampling rate of 96 kHz, excellent signal-to-noise ratio, high THD and the lowest internal delay in its class, the MXE5 delivers the best value for money.
In addition to supporting the MXE5 matrix mixer as a 24-zone mixer, SONICUE makes it easy to monitor, monitor and control your entire sound system. System integrators can use SONICUE to design stand-alone custom interfaces for Windows PCs or the new Dynacord TPC-1 touchscreen control panels with 5.7” HD display. This panel is also used to control the sound at the stadium Del Valle. It is installed in the commentator’s booth and provides easy access to system controls, including turning the entire system on/off, switching presets, selecting signal sources and setting gain levels.
The announcer’s booth is equipped with an Electro-Voice PC Desktop-12 panel microphone from the PolarChoice series for high-quality transmission of speech information and announcements. The stadium also operates two radio systems – one with a switchable headset for the referee and a handheld microphone system with an ND86 capsule for speech and vocals.
All other tasks for scoring office premises and the adjacent territory are provided by loudspeakers from the Bosch range. To meet ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act) requirements, the stadium installed a Telex SoundMate Hearing Assistive System, equipped with bodypack receivers with dedicated SCB-1 and NLS4 headphones, as well as inductive hearing aid loops. In the video control room, EVID-C6.2 ceiling speakers are installed as a monitoring system, and the entire production team uses the RTS BTR-800 radio intercom system for communication.
“There are many elements involved in making a good stadium sound system, but the SONICUE software and the new MXE digital matrix have made it much easier for us to operate the sound system with great sound,” says Thornhill. “The staff and students of the Del Valle School, and myself, are very satisfied with the work done.”

This site is intended for US health care professionals.
Bleeding Pattern Changes
Bleeding and spotting episodes
Based on data from clinical trials of the non-radiopaque etonogestrel implant (IMPLANON®):
Women who use NEXPLANON are likely to have changes in their vaginal bleeding patterns. These may include changes in bleeding frequency, intensity, duration, or amenorrhea.
The bleeding pattern experienced during the first 3 months using NEXPLANON is broadly predictive of the future bleeding pattern for many women.
Bleeding and spotting prevalence
Based on data from clinical trials of the non-radiopaque etonogestrel implant (IMPLANON®):
In clinical trials
Women had an average of 17. 7 days of bleeding or spotting every 90 days (N=780)
11.1% of women discontinued due to changes in bleeding pattern (N=942)
Abnormal bleeding should be evaluated as needed to exclude pathologic conditions or pregnancy

Indications and
Selected Safety Information
Indications
NEXPLANON is indicated for use by women to prevent pregnancy.
Selected Safety Information
CONTRAINDICATIONS
NEXPLANON should not be used in women who have known or suspected pregnancy; current or past history of thrombosis or thromboembolic disorders; liver tumors, benign or malignant, or active liver disease; undiagnosed abnormal genital bleeding; known or suspected breast cancer, personal history of breast cancer, or other progestin-sensitive cancer, now or in the past; and/or allergic reaction to any of the components of NEXPLANON.
WARNINGS AND PRECAUTIONS
Complications of Insertion and Removal
NEXPLANON should be inserted subdermally so that it will be palpable after insertion, and this should be confirmed by palpation immediately after insertion. Failure to insert NEXPLANON properly may go unnoticed unless it is palpated immediately after insertion. Undetected failure to insert the implant may lead to an unintended pregnancy. Failure to remove the implant may result in continued effects of etonogestrel, such as compromised fertility, ectopic pregnancy, or persistence or occurrence of a drug-related adverse event.
Complications related to insertion and removal procedures, such as pain, paresthesias, bleeding, hematoma, scarring, or infection, may occur. If NEXPLANON is inserted deeply (intramuscular or in the fascia), neural or vascular injury may occur. Implant removal may be difficult or impossible if the implant is not inserted correctly, inserted too deeply, not palpable, encased in fibrous tissue, or has migrated. If at any time the implant cannot be palpated, it should be localized and removal is recommended.
There have been postmarketing reports of implants located within the vessels of the arm and the pulmonary artery, which may be related to deep insertions or intravascular insertions. Endovascular or surgical procedures may be needed for removal.
Changes in Menstrual Bleeding Patterns
After starting NEXPLANON, women are likely to have changes in their menstrual bleeding pattern. These may include changes in frequency, intensity, or duration. Abnormal bleeding should be evaluated as needed to exclude pathologic conditions or pregnancy. In clinical studies of the non-radiopaque etonogestrel implant, reports of changes in bleeding pattern were the most common reason for stopping treatment (11.1%). Women should be counseled regarding bleeding pattern changes that they may experience.
Ectopic Pregnancies
Be alert to the possibility of an ectopic pregnancy in women using NEXPLANON who become pregnant or complain of lower abdominal pain.
Thrombotic and Other Vascular Events
The use of combination hormonal contraceptives increases the risk of vascular events, including arterial events (strokes and myocardial infarctions) or deep venous thrombotic events (venous thromboembolism, deep venous thrombosis, retinal vein thrombosis, and pulmonary embolism). It is recommended that women with risk factors known to increase the risk of venous and arterial thromboembolism be carefully assessed. There have been postmarketing reports of serious arterial thrombotic and venous thromboembolic events, including cases of pulmonary emboli (some fatal), deep vein thrombosis, myocardial infarction, and strokes, in women using etonogestrel implants. NEXPLANON should be removed in the event of a thrombosis. Due to the risk of thromboembolism associated with pregnancy and immediately following delivery, NEXPLANON should not be used prior to 21 days postpartum. Women with a history of thromboembolic disorders should be made aware of the possibility of a recurrence. Consider removal of the NEXPLANON implant in case of long-term immobilization due to surgery or illness.
Ovarian Cysts
If follicular development occurs, atresia of the follicle is sometimes delayed, and the follicle may continue to grow beyond the size it would attain in a normal cycle. Generally, these enlarged follicles disappear spontaneously. Rarely, surgery may be required.
Carcinoma of the Breast and Reproductive Organs
Some studies suggest that the use of combination hormonal contraceptives might increase the incidence of breast cancer, and increase the risk of cervical cancer or intraepithelial neoplasia. Women with a family history of breast cancer or who develop breast nodules should be carefully monitored.
Liver Disease
NEXPLANON should be removed if jaundice occurs.
Elevated Blood Pressure
The NEXPLANON implant should be removed if blood pressure rises significantly and becomes uncontrolled.
Gallbladder Disease
Studies suggest a small increased relative risk of developing gallbladder disease among combination hormonal contraceptive users. It is not known whether a similar risk exists with progestin-only methods like NEXPLANON.
Carbohydrate and Lipid Metabolic Effects
Prediabetic and diabetic women using NEXPLANON should be carefully monitored.
Depressed Mood
Women with a history of depressed mood should be carefully observed. Consideration should be given to removing NEXPLANON in patients who become significantly depressed.
Return to Ovulation
In clinical trials with the non-radiopaque etonogestrel implant (IMPLANON), the etonogestrel levels in blood decreased below sensitivity of the assay by one week after removal of the implant. In addition, pregnancies were observed to occur as early as 7 to 14 days after removal. Therefore, a woman should re-start contraception immediately after removal of the implant if continued contraceptive protection is desired.
Fluid Retention
Hormonal contraceptives may cause some degree of fluid retention. They should be prescribed with caution, and only with careful monitoring, in patients with conditions which might be aggravated by fluid retention. It is unknown if NEXPLANON causes fluid retention.
Contact Lenses
Contact lens wearers who develop visual changes or changes in lens tolerance should be assessed by an ophthalmologist.
Broken or Bent Implant
There have been reports of broken or bent implants, which may be related to external forces (e. g., manipulation of the implant or contact sports) while in the patient’s arm. There have also been reports of migration of a broken implant fragment within the arm. Based on in vitro data, when an implant is broken or bent, the release rate of etonogestrel may be slightly increased. When an implant is removed, it is important to remove it in its entirety.
ADVERSE REACTIONS
Clinical Trial Experience
The most common adverse reaction causing discontinuation of use of the implant in clinical trials was change in menstrual bleeding patterns, specifically irregular menses (11.1%). The most common adverse reactions (≥10%) reported in clinical trials were headache (24.9%), vaginitis (14.5%), weight increase (13.7%), acne (13.5%), breast pain (12.8%), abdominal pain (10.9%), and pharyngitis (10.5%).
Effects of Other Drugs on Hormonal Contraceptives
Substances decreasing the plasma concentrations of hormonal contraceptives and potentially diminishing the efficacy of hormonal contraceptives:
Drugs or herbal products that induce certain enzymes, including cytochrome P450 3A4 (CYP3A4), may decrease the plasma concentrations of hormonal contraceptives and potentially diminish the effectiveness of hormonal contraceptives or increase breakthrough bleeding. Women should use an alternative non-hormonal method of contraception or a back-up method when enzyme inducers are used with hormonal contraceptives, and to continue back-up non-hormonal contraception for 28 days after discontinuing the enzyme inducer to ensure contraceptive reliability.
Substances increasing the plasma concentrations of hormonal contraceptives:
Co-administration of certain hormonal contraceptives and strong or moderate CYP3A4 inhibitors may increase the serum concentrations of progestins, including etonogestrel.
Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV)/Hepatitis C Virus (HCV) protease inhibitors and non-nucleoside reverse transcriptase inhibitors:
Significant changes (increase or decrease) in the plasma concentrations of progestin have been noted in cases of co-administration with HIV protease inhibitors, HCV protease inhibitors, or with non-nucleoside reverse transcriptase inhibitors. These changes may be clinically relevant.
Effects of Hormonal Contraceptives on Other Drugs
Hormonal contraceptives may affect the metabolism of other drugs. Consequently, plasma concentrations may either increase (for example, cyclosporine) or decrease (for example, lamotrigine).
USE IN SPECIFIC POPULATIONS
Pregnancy
Rule out pregnancy before inserting NEXPLANON.
Lactation
Small amounts of contraceptive steroids and/or metabolites, including etonogestrel are present in human milk. No significant adverse effects have been observed in the production or quality of breast milk, or on the physical and psychomotor development of breastfed infants.
Hormonal contraceptives, including etonogestrel, can reduce milk production in breastfeeding mothers. This is less likely to occur once breastfeeding is well-established; however, it can occur at any time in some women.
Pediatric Use
Safety and efficacy of NEXPLANON have been established in women of reproductive age and are expected to be the same for postpubertal adolescents. However, no studies have been conducted in women less than 18 years of age. Use of this product before menarche is not indicated.
Overweight Women
The efficacy of NEXPLANON in women who weighed more than 130% of their ideal body weight has not been defined because such women were not studied in clinical trials. Serum concentrations of etonogestrel are inversely related to body weight and decrease with time after implant insertion. Therefore, NEXPLANON may be less effective in overweight women.
PATIENT COUNSELING INFORMATION
Counsel women to contact their health care provider immediately if, at any time, they are unable to palpate the implant.
NEXPLANON does not protect against HIV or other STDs.
Before prescribing NEXPLANON, please read the accompanying Prescribing Information. The Patient Information also is available.

Contraceptive implant | NHS inform
The contraceptive implant is a thin, flexible rod about 4cm long. It’s inserted under the skin of your upper arm by a professional.
The implant stops the release of an egg from the ovary by slowly releasing progestogen into your body. Progestogen also thickens the cervical mucus and thins the womb lining. This makes it harder for sperm to move through your cervix, and less likely for your womb to accept a fertilised egg.
At a glance: the implant
If implanted correctly, it’s more than 99% effective. Fewer than 1 woman in 1,000 who have the implant as contraception for 3 years will get pregnant.
It’s very useful for women who know they don’t want to get pregnant for a while. Once the implant is in place, you don’t have to think about contraception for 3 years.
It can be useful for women who can’t use contraception that contains oestrogen.
It’s very useful for women who find it difficult to take a pill at the same time every day.
If you have side effects or want to have a baby, the implant can be taken out.
Your natural fertility returns very quickly after removal.
When it’s first put in, you may feel some bruising, tenderness or swelling around the implant.
In the first year after the implant is fitted, your periods may become irregular, lighter, heavier or longer. This usually settles down after a few months.
Your periods may stop (amenorrhoea). This isn’t harmful.
Some medications can make the implant less effective. You should use extra contraception when taking these medications.
The implant does not protect against sexually transmitted infections (STIs). Use condoms as well as the implant to protect yourself against STIs.
There is no evidence to show that the implant causes weight gain.
How the implant works
The implant steadily releases the hormone progestogen into your bloodstream. Progestogen is like the natural hormone progesterone.
The continuous release of progestogen:
stops a woman releasing an egg every month (ovulation)
thickens the mucus from the cervix (entrance to the womb), making it difficult for sperm to pass through to the womb and reach an unfertilised egg
makes the lining of the womb thinner so that it is unable to support a fertilised egg
The implant can be put in at any time during your menstrual cycle, as long as you and your doctor are reasonably sure you are not pregnant. In Scotland, Nexplanon is the only contraceptive implant currently in use.
Nexplanon is a small, thin, flexible tube about 4cm long. It’s implanted under the skin of your upper arm by a doctor or nurse. A local anaesthetic is used to numb the area. The small wound made in your arm is closed with a dressing and does not need stitches. Nexplanon works for 3 years.
The implant can be removed at any time by a specially trained doctor or nurse. It only takes a few minutes to remove, using a local anaesthetic. As soon as the implant has been removed, you’ll no longer be protected against pregnancy.
When it starts to work
If the implant is fitted during the first 5 days of your menstrual cycle, you’ll be immediately protected against becoming pregnant. If it’s fitted on any other day of your menstrual cycle, you will not be protected against pregnancy for up to 7 days. You should use another method during this time, such as condoms.
After giving birth
You can have the contraceptive implant fitted after you have given birth, usually after 3 weeks.
If it’s fitted on or before day 21 after the birth, you’ll be immediately protected against becoming pregnant.
If it’s fitted after day 21, you’ll need to use extra contraception, such as condoms, for the following 7 days.
It’s safe to use the implant while you are breastfeeding.
After a miscarriage or abortion
The implant can be fitted immediately after a miscarriage or an abortion, and you’ll be protected against pregnancy straight away.
Who can use the implant?
Most women can be fitted with the contraceptive implant. It may not be suitable if you don’t want irregular bleeding, or if you have a hormone dependent cancer such as breast cancer.
Advantages and disadvantages of the implant
The main advantages of the contraceptive implant are:
it works for 3 years
it does not interrupt sex
it’s suitable if you can’t use oestrogen-based contraception, such as the combined contraceptive pill, contraceptive patch or vaginal ring
you don’t have to remember to take a pill every day
it’s safe to use while you are breastfeeding
your fertility should return to normal as soon as the implant is removed
after the contraceptive implant has been inserted, you should be able to carry out normal activities
Disadvantages
Using a contraceptive implant may have some disadvantages. You should consider these carefully before deciding if it’s right for you.
Your periods may change significantly while using a contraceptive implant. Around 20% of women using the implant will have no bleeding, but almost 50% will have infrequent or prolonged bleeding. Bleeding patterns often remain irregular.
These changes are not harmful. If the bleeding is a problem, your GP may be able to give you tablets to help.
Other side effects that some women report are:
headaches
acne
nausea
breast tenderness
changes in mood
loss of sex drive
These side effects usually stop after the first few months. If you have prolonged or severe headaches or other side effects, tell your doctor.
Will other medicines affect the implant?
Some medicines can reduce the implant’s effectiveness. These include:
medication for HIV
medication for epilepsy
complementary remedies, such as St John’s Wort
an antibiotic called rifabutin (which can be used to treat tuberculosis)
an antibiotic called rifampicin (which can be used to treat several conditions, including tuberculosis and meningitis)
These are called enzyme-inducing drugs. If you are using these medicines for a short while, you should use extra contraception during the course of treatment and for 28 days afterwards. The extra contraception could be condoms, or a single dose of the contraceptive injection. The implant can remain in place if you have the injection.
If you’re taking enzyme-inducing drugs long term, you may prefer another method of contraception.
Always tell your doctor that you are using an implant if you are prescribed any medicines. Ask your doctor or nurse for more details about the implant and other medication.
Risks of the implant
In rare cases, the area of skin where the implant has been fitted can become infected. If this happens, the area will be cleaned and may be treated with antibiotics.
Where can you get the implant?
Most types of contraception are available for free in the UK. Contraception is free to all women and men through the NHS. Places where you can get contraception include:
most GP practices – talk to your GP or practice nurse as not all practices fit implants
sexual health clinics – they also offer contraceptive and STI testing services
some young people’s services
Implants are usually removed by the service or practice where it was fitted. If not, your GP or sexual health service can advise on where implants removal is provided in your area.
Contraception services are free and confidential, including for people under the age of 16.
If you’re under 16 and want contraception, the doctor, nurse or pharmacists won’t tell your parents (or carer). They’ll provide you with contraception as long as they believe you fully understand the information you’re given and are able to use the contraception safely.
Doctors and nurses have a responsibility to make sure that you are safe and free from harm. They’ll encourage you to consider telling your parents (or carer), but they won’t make you. The only time that a professional will not be able to keep confidentiality is if they believe you’re at risk of serious harm, such as abuse. If this was the case they would usually discuss it with you first.
The period of the first menstruation: how long does the first menstruation last
Features of the cycle immediately after the first menstruation
The first menstruation (menarche) in girls usually begins at the age of 11-14 years. Such a rather large variation is explained by the fact that the physiological characteristics of the structure of the adolescent’s organism, which are inherited, as well as some other factors, can affect the time of the onset of menstruation. During the first period, bleeding is usually weak and short – only about 2-3 days. How long the first menstruation lasts is affected by the girl’s health, physique, etc.
After that, there comes a period when the cycle is irregular (that is, menstruation comes a few days earlier, sometimes later). This is due to the fact that the process of production of female hormones in the body stabilizes for about a year. At this age, it is impossible to say exactly how many days the girl’s first period will go: in general, this value ranges from 3 to 5 days.
Usually around 14-15 years of age, the menstrual cycle becomes stable. From now on, every girl is advised to keep track of when menstruation occurs and how long they last. If your periods are too short (less than 2 days) or too long (more than 7 days), you should visit a gynecologist.
How many days does a normal cycle last?
Many believe that the duration of the menstrual cycle (the time from the onset of one bleeding to the onset of another) should be exactly 28 days, but this is a delusion. Its duration is individual for each woman and can change throughout life. Normally, the duration of the menstrual cycle is from 21 days and no more than 35 days. If your cycles last less than 21 or more than 35 days, you should consult a gynecologist, because this situation may be a signal of a malfunction of the ovaries.
It is also necessary that the cycle is regular. Some girls face a problem when they cannot predict the time of the next menstruation. This phenomenon is normal for young girls immediately after menarche and for women after childbirth, but in all other cases this may indicate a violation in the body. These may include, for example, the consequences of nervous tension, inflammatory diseases, etc.
Possible deviations
Girls. Adolescent girls may experience light spotting a few days before and after their period. They usually disappear by themselves at the age of 15-16, after which they never appear again. However, if such “extraordinary” discharges are noticed at a later age, this may be a sign that the cycle is seriously disturbed as a result of physiological changes. The causes may be inflammatory diseases of the pelvic organs, various neoplasms, etc. In addition, discharge may be a sign of the so-called implantation bleeding – one of the signs of pregnancy. 1
Women. Violation of the duration of menstruation and the duration of the cycle often occurs after childbirth. The absence of bleeding in the first months and irregular periods throughout the year are quite normal for this period. 2 Menstruation can be irregular not only in girls after menarche, as mentioned above, but also in women after 55 years of age during menopause. At this age, the reproductive function gradually fades and over time, menstruation completely stops.

First period in girls: when it starts, signs, what to do
Why do menstruation occur?
The causes of menarche lie in the hormonal changes that occur in the body during puberty 1.2 .
The brain has a small but very important gland – the hypothalamus, which controls the work of the entire endocrine system 1,2 . When a girl enters adolescence, her hypothalamus releases releasing factors (from the English. Release – release) into the blood and thereby starts the process of puberty 1.2 .
Releasing factors act on another gland of the brain – the pituitary gland, which, in turn, begins to synthesize luteinizing hormone (LH) and follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH) 1.2 . It is they who activate the work of the ovaries and the production of sex hormones estrogen and progesterone.
Under the influence of estrogen and progesterone, the uterus prepares for pregnancy every month. The inner mucosa of the uterus grows, loosens and turns into a “feather bed”, ready at any moment to receive a fetal egg. If pregnancy does not occur, the uterus gets rid of the unnecessary inner layer, it comes out along with the menstrual blood and everything starts all over again.
Harbingers of the first menstruation:
Female sex hormones – estrogens and progesterone – constantly circulate in the blood of a woman in different amounts 1.2 . In addition to the uterus, they affect other organs and systems 1. 2 . You will notice changes in them much earlier than the menarche happens. Moreover, by their appearance you will be able to judge how soon the first menstruation will be.
Breast engorgement
the very first sign that you are going through puberty 2 . The nipple becomes convex and slightly enlarged in diameter – this usually occurs 2 years before menarche 2.3 . For doctors, this is a kind of benchmark. If menstruation does not start, there is cause for alarm 3
The appearance of pubic hairs
the second harbinger of menstruation in girls. Usually the first hairs “break through” simultaneously with the enlargement of the nipples 2 . But in the armpits, hair appears much later – about six months before menarche 2
Growth spurt
occurs approximately one and a half years before the first menstruation 2 . During this period, you may become much taller than your peers with a later onset of sexual development. As soon as the growth slows down, wait for the first menstruation 2
Unreasonable health changes
weakness, daytime drowsiness, sudden mood swings, headaches, light dizziness, nausea, severity and even pain in the abdomen may indicate an approaching menstruation. These are not necessarily signs, but in some women they appear regularly a few days before menstruation 3
tampons absorb fluid inside the body, avoiding odor and discomfort;
tampons are an invisible protection because they are invisible under clothes and are not felt inside the body;
tampons reliably protect against leakage during menstruation;
tampons make it possible to lead an active lifestyle (play sports, dance and even swim).
At what age do girls start menstruating?
In girls of European race, the age of menarche often occurs at 12-13 years, less often menstruation occurs at 10-11 years and 13-14 years 1,2,3 . In the last 100-150 years, scientists have observed a marked decrease in the age at which puberty begins2. Therefore, menstruation in a girl of 9-10 years old no longer frightens doctors and parents 2.3 . Rather, the absence of menstruation at the age of 14.5 years is alarming 2.3 .
All the figures we have given are averages. Yours might be a little different. Many factors influence the onset of menarche:
Genetics. If your mother’s menstruation started later than her peers, then there is a chance that you will have to wait a bit 2 .
Race. Early menarche is typical for representatives of the Negroid race, Hispanics, and for Caucasians and Asians, menstruation begins later 2 .
Nutrition. Good nutrition promotes the formation of menstruation, but the diet delays puberty 2 .
Body weight. Slightly plump girls have periods earlier than 2 . But if the body weight significantly exceeds the norm, there is a delay in the appearance of menstruation 2
What are the first periods?
Menstruation can last from 2 to 7 days – all individually 2. 3 . When menstruation just begins, there is little blood from the vagina and it has a dark red color. Then it becomes larger, and it becomes brighter. Sometimes, if menstruation is heavy, small blood clots sometimes appear in the discharge. There is no need to worry about this: in this way the body limits blood loss 2 .
In the last days of menstruation, the amount of discharge decreases, they again become dark, sometimes almost black. This happens because little blood is released from the uterus, it is retained in the vagina and oxidized 2.3 .
How much blood is released during menstruation? All girls are different. Some lose only 20 ml of blood per day 3 . In others, the volume of blood loss approaches 80 ml 3 . On average, the amount of blood lost per day is 30 ml 3 , which is about the amount that 4 small 2 o.b.® swabs can absorb. Over time, you will learn how to select hygiene products, taking into account your individual characteristics. And in order not to miss the beginning of menstruation, we recommend that you use
on days when discharge may begin. They will protect your clothes and make you feel more confident.
Periods come cyclically, about once a month. The interval between the first day of one menstruation and the first day of the next menstruation is called the menstrual cycle.0019 1 . Its duration can be from 21 to 35 days 3 . At the same time, each woman’s cycle should be stable with a fluctuation of +/- 2 days 3 .
The first 12-18 months after menarche, menstruation is often irregular, the interval between them can either be shortened or lengthened up to 45 days 3 . The nature of menstruation can also change. At first they are often profuse and painful 3 . But gradually, within 2-3 years, everything returns to normal 3 .
To control your cycle, we recommend that you keep a special menstruation diary or use an application on your phone for this, and in the event of “abnormal” situations, always contact your mother or doctor.

AMERICA’S MOST ACCREDITED
We’re so proud!
Nationally only 10% of daycares are accredited – nearly 100% of our learning centers are. That’s a big difference,
and that means KinderCare kids are getting the very best. Here’s why.

Infant Programs (6 weeks–1 year)
Leaving your baby in someone else’s care is a big step. Everyone at our
centers—most importantly, our naturally gifted infant teachers—will work with
you to make sure the transition goes smoothly. When you step into our infant
classroom, you’ll see how much we want your infant to feel safe, loved, and
ready to explore their world.
Toddler Programs (1–2 Years)
Everything in our toddler classroom is designed for little explorers. That’s
because a lot is going on at this age. When your child is wandering all over the
place, that means they’re learning and discovering new things every day. We’ll
help them explore their interests (and find new ones!) as they play and learn.
Discovery Preschool Programs (2–3 Years)
This age is filled with so much wonder and curiosity. That’s why we offer a ton
of books and toys and bring artwork down to kids eye level. Children in
discovery preschool also begin to learn how we all work together in a
classroom. Simple math and science, pretend play, and group play help them
get used to a more structured school setting.
Preschool Programs (3–4 Years)
This age is all about expression, when kids really start to form their own ideas
about what they want to play and how they want to create. Every day in our
preschool classroom, your child will explore science experiments, create
artwork, and play pretend—all the skills needed for their big next step:
kindergarten!
Prekindergarten Programs (4–5 Years)
When you walk into one of our pre-K classrooms, you’ll see artwork and
writing displayed around the room. Labels are everywhere to help kids connect
letters with words. You’ll also see pictures on the walls that reflect the families
in our community. Your child will also deepen their knowledge in language,
math, science, Spanish, and social skills.
Our Teachers
We’re the only company in early childhood education to select teachers based on natural talent. Being a great educator isn’t enough though.
KinderCare teachers are also amazing listeners, nurturers, boo-boo fixers, and smile-makers. Put more simply,
we love our teachers and your child will, too.

Number of students: 220 (foreigners – 25%)
Type of education: joint (blended)
Type of accommodation: residence (boarding house)

ICE and DHS used a fake university to catch migrants
340 people were arrested with it in 2019. Almost all of them have already been deported
A student visa to the USA is one of the ways to legally live in America. True, it has many limitations, one of which is the need to study, study and study again.
90 students were detained by ICE and DHS in November 2019, 250 more earlier, from January to July 2019. Thus, 60% of the students of a university that never really existed are in Michigan immigration prisons or have already been deported to their homeland.
Of the 250 students arrested, “almost 80% signed a deportation agreement and left the United States voluntarily,” ICE’s Homeland Security Investigation Division said in a statement. The remaining 20% are either still trying to prove that they have the right to stay in the US or were expelled from the country in a different way.
It is known that one of those arrested was able to achieve the status of “political refugee”. At least two more of those who agreed to leave the US were unable to obtain US visas again.
Almost all students came to the US from India. And only one arrested was sent back to Palestine.
US student visa: fake alma mater created by ICE and DHS
Fake university Photo by Eric Seals, Detroit Free Press
The building pictured above is located at 30500 Northwest Highway (Farmington Hills). This is the fake campus of the University of Farmington set up by federal agents from the US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) Investigation Division, which in turn is part of the DHS. The building was manned by undercover ICE and DHS agents posing as university employees.
The University started its work at the end of 2015.
“At the University of Farmington, we have created an innovative learning environment that combines traditional learning with full-time employment. We offer flexible class schedules and focus on students who do not want to interrupt their careers,” the university described on the website. In addition, it was listed as a “Nationally Accredited Educational Institution Authorized by the US Department of Homeland Security to Admit Foreign Students” in the US College Registry.
Immigrants were literally lured into the university, which allegedly prepared specialists in the field of technology and computer science.
The truth was revealed on January 30, 2019, and the arrests began at the same time.
Today, federal prosecutors claim that all 600+ students studying at the university knew that the university was a fake, and that they only pay for the opportunity to have a student visa in their passport. But former students and their lawyers disagree.
After all, the Department of Homeland Security didn’t just register the University of Farmington as an educational institution. At their request, the National Accreditation Agency included the University of Farmington in the list of accredited in the United States to work with foreigners.
The institutions were also listed by federal investigators on the ICE website as a university approved by them under the state program for international students known as SEVIS (Student and Exchange Student Program).
“It is clear that the government has set up a scheme not to prosecute lawbreakers, but to create fear in our immigration system,” said Amer Zar, a law professor at the University of Detroit-Mercy and a spokesman for one of the detained students. “They are after students who are trying to improve their lives because America has the best education. Here’s who they choose. It’s really disturbing.”
Lawyers for the arrested students say that the US government had no right to organize such a trap, because by all accounts the university had the right to work with foreign students.
Many students have entered the university through a program known as Curricular Practical Training (CPT), which allows students to work in the US under the F-1 visa program for international students. Some have moved to the University of Farmington from other universities that have lost their accreditation, which means they are no longer eligible to be in the US.
By the way, some of those who changed their former university to the University of Farmington and did not even have time to deal with the lack of classes were also arrested.
The US “trapped vulnerable people who just wanted to keep (legal immigration) status,” Rahul Reddy, a Texas lawyer who represented some of the arrested students, told Free Press. “They’re hunting them.”
US student visa: expensive and annoying – ICE and DHS know their stuff…
The bogus university is believed to have collected millions of dollars for its services: average university tuition was about $12,000 per year, graduate tuition was $2,500 per quarter.
But so far no one has filed a lawsuit against the US government, demanding the return of money for “training”.
Lawyers for ICE and the Department of Justice argue that students should have known that this is not a real university and therefore their student visa is a fake, because it did not have classes at all.
“Their true intention couldn’t be clearer. Being enrolled “at the University”, 100% of foreign students have never spent a single second in the classroom. If it was about getting an education, the University would have teachers, classes, educational services … ”, – this is how Federal Attorney Baker commented on the situation. And he noted that this case should be the first, but not the last, they say, it is high time to sort out the situation with student visas.
ICE agents recruited existing university students to look for more and more students.
One such intermediary, Rampea, entered the US legally on a student visa. In 2016, he received his Master’s degree in Computer Science from Northwestern Polytechnic University. However, had to look for a way to extend his visa after graduation. So he found the same university in Michigan. He spent $40,000 to “study” there. For new students, the university “paid” him with “loans”.
“He was desperate to find a way to stay in the United States,” Rampei’s lawyer said in her closing speech in court. “I wanted to get a PhD in computer science.”
In response, Assistant US Attorney Baker stated that Rampea “knew it was a fake and that it was just there to maintain status.”
from this is what the University website page now looks like
The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has already taken down the University of Farmington website, which was also set up for a sting operation. Now it only bears the logos of some divisions of the Department of Homeland Security and the inscription: “The University of Farmington has been closed by the US Department of Homeland Security, US Immigration and Customs Enforcement. Affected students should contact their local Department of Homeland Security office.
In this article, we will provide a comprehensive exploration of the BVI company types governed by the BVI Business Companies Act, 2004. Let’s find out!
How many BVI company types do you know?
Under the Business Companies Act of The British Virgin Islands, there are 5 main company types as the following:
Company limited by shares
Company limited by guarantee and not authorized to issue shares
Company limited by guarantee and authorized to issue shares
Unlimited company authorized to issue shares
Unlimited company not authorized to issue shares
Other than the above types, the BVI also allows the company registration in further forms of:
Segregated portfolio company
Restricted purpose company
Regardless of any type of company in the BVI that you are planning to go to, note that the incorporation of a BVI company must be completed with the Registrar of Company via a registered agent. In addition, the Memorandum of Articles and Articles of Association is a must-have condition. Typically, the memorandum should include the following details:
The company’s name
The type of incorporated company
The address of the company office
Name and address of the Registered Agent
Statements of whether the company is allowed to issue shares. If yes, the following details should be carefully prescribed to prevent future misunderstandings. They include the maximum number of shares, the types of shares, how they’ll be managed, etc.
Other business-related statements such as any limitations on the business that the company may conduct as in the case of a restricted purpose company.
In what follows, we will delve into the key characteristics of each type of company in the BVI. Take a look!
Key features of each BVI company type
Company limited by shares
A company limited by shares is the most common type of company that is registered in the British Virgin Islands.
As its name denotes, a company limited by shares is the company having the ability to issue shares, and its member’s liability is separated from the company’s debts and obligations. Members of this company type are holders of its shares.
In order to incorporate a company limited by shares, you need to ensure your company memorandum of association clearly states that it is a company limited by shares, the maximum number of shares, the classes of shares, and specific features regarding the rights, limitation, and criteria adhering to each class.
Key features for this type of business structure are as the followings:
Each company limited by shares is required to have at least one shareholder and at least one director, both of whom may be the same person.
After the appointment of the company’s first director(s), he/she must issue the first shares in the company.
The registered agent has a period of 6 months from the incorporation of the company to appoint the first director(s), and it is the first director(s) who will issue the first shares in the company.
Shareholder’s liability is limited to the amount unpaid on shares held.
Regarding the voting rights, for companies limited by shares, a shareholder has the total number of votes attached to the shares that he/she holds.

Company limited by guarantee
This company type is typically used for non-profit organizations. Under section 5 of the BVI Business Companies Act, a business is allowed to register a company limited by guarantee in two forms:
A company limited by guarantee that is not authorized to issue shares
A company limited by guarantee that is authorized to issue shares.
So, what are the differences between them?
A basic thing is that company limited by guarantee, whether or not authorized to issue shares, requires at least 1 member of the company to be a guarantee member. In addition, a guarantee member is entitled to one vote on any resolution on which he or she is entitled to vote unless the memorandum or articles provide otherwise.
Like obligations for the memorandum as seen in any company type, the memorandum submitted to incorporate a company limited by guarantee must be well stated in detail its company type and essence of its guarantee member’s liabilities.
Concerning the liability of a guarantee member to the company, as a guarantee member, it is typically limited to:
The amount that the guarantee member has the liability to contribute as stated in the memorandum;
Any other liability expressly provided for in the memorandum or articles of the company; and
Any liability to repay a distribution in case it did not meet the solvency test.
Again, note that these liabilities would be applied only when the company is put into voluntary liquidation or insolvent liquidation as the laws, and they are limited to an amount described in the memorandum.
The flexibility to issue shares is the key difference of Company limited by guarantee authorized to issue shares compared to that not authorized to issue shares.
You should also recognize that the company limited by guarantee authorized to issue shares is actually a combination of a company limited by guarantee and a company limited by shares. Therefore, in addition to a statement of its company type, the memorandum must also involve further matters for guarantee companies as well as for companies limited by shares. A guarantee member can also be a shareholder.
Unlimited company
If you have got an insight into forms of “limited” company, everything will be easier with the “unlimited” one. The characteristics of each type can be fairly corresponding with what you have learned from its opposite terms.
Whether or not authorized to issue shares, an unlimited company must have a minimum of 1 unlimited member at all times. The liability of the unlimited members is considered to be their responsibility of making a contribution to the company assets in liquidation. Note that these members will have unlimited liability for the company’s liabilities.
Like a company limited by guarantee, there are two main forms of unlimited companies including:
Unlimited company authorized to issue shares: The company has the ability to issue an unlimited number of shares. Its unlimited member can also be a shareholder and will have one vote unless the memorandum or articles provide otherwise.
Unlimited company not authorized to issue shares: The company does not issue shares and thus none of its members are shareholders. As per the BVI Business Companies Act, the unlimited company not authorized to issue shares is subject to the requirement of filing its annual return in the approved form of its directors.
Restricted purpose company
A restricted purpose company (normally having its name ending with “(SPV) Limited” or “(SPV) Ltd”) is quite similar to a BVI business company but it may only be registered for transactions and activities with limited purposes such as insolvency-remote issues, securitizations or off-balance-sheet financing work.
There are some specific requirements for those who wish to establish a restricted purpose company in the British Virgin Islands:
The company must be a company limited by shares;
The company’s memorandum of association must include a statement that the company is a restricted purposes company;
The memorandum must also clarify the actual purposes of the company.
It should be noted that a restricted purpose company is prohibited from amending its memorandum to modify or erase the statement for its type of company (that it is a restricted purpose company), as well as any resolution relating to the void of its members or directors.
A restricted purposes company can also be a segregated portfolio company.
Segregated portfolio company
Pursuant to the BVI Business Companies (Amendment) Act, 2018, The British Virgin Islands allows a segregated portfolio company (SPCs) to be incorporated or registered as an existing company only if the company is, or on incorporation will be:
Licensed as an Insurer under the Insurance Act, 1994;
Recognized as a professional or private fund or registered as a public fund under the Mutual Funds Act, 1996;
Not licensed:
as an investment business company under the Securities and Investment Business Act, 2010;
as an insurance manager or insurance intermediary under the Insurance Act, 2008;
to carry on any activity that is regulated under the Banks and Trust Companies Act, 1990, Company Management Act, 1990, or Financing and Money Services Act, 2009.
A BVI SPC is deemed a legal entity that has separate portfolios. The assets and liabilities of each individual portfolio are segregated from each other and from the general assets and liabilities of the company. Notwithstanding, each segregated portfolio is not a separate legal entity.
A BVI business company segregated portfolio, after some amendments on its SPC regime and the expansion of its potential uses, is now able to be served for the following purposes:
To hold assets for high net worth persons – i.e., institutional investors;
To run multiple businesses/ types of business, including operating new business ventures that require segregation from the business of the segregated portfolio company;
To use for property development and management;
To used for bankruptcy remote vehicles in structured finance and capital markets transactions;
To perform other responsibilities and investments which are not inconsistent with any restriction under the Act or SPC (BVI Business Company) Regulations, 2018.
To register as a BVI SPC, the entity must satisfy some requirements as below:
Must be a company limited by shares;
Either by setting up a new company as an SPC or in case of already incorporated, by registering with the Registrar as an SPC;
Must receive written approval of the Financial Services Commission of the British Virgin Islands to be incorporated/registered.
Conclusion
In short, the British Virgin Islands (BVI) is one of the most reputed jurisdictions in the world. There are multiple choices for entrepreneurs to incorporate a BVI company, including a company limited by shares which is the most popular company type for business people, a company limited by guarantee, unlimited company, restricted purpose company, and segregated portfolio company.
Despite the fact that BVI company formation can be done in a straightforward and fast process, you should know that only a BVI registered agent has the ability to apply for incorporation. Each type of company also has its own characteristics and incorporation requirements. Therefore, if you are going to establish a company in the BVI, bear in mind to well examine whether the proposed type is the best fit with your company’s demands and goals. You are recommended to seek advice from professional experts before setting up your company.

what it is and how to register a company in the British Virgin Islands
Registration of an offshore company is a relatively simple and at the same time effective way to optimize your business. One of the most popular offshore jurisdictions is the British Virgin Islands (BVI), or BVI.
British Virgin Islands (BVI) is a dependent British territory of the eastern part of the Virgin Islands archipelago in the Caribbean, one of the most popular offshore zones. Legally, this part of the islands belongs to Great Britain, which makes the BVI a stable and economically reliable territory. The number of companies registered here has already exceeded one million. We can say that BVI is a reference offshore zone, the most prestigious and respectable tax haven on the planet, and it is also one of the oldest.
Offshore financial services make up a significant part of the BVI economy. As for the country’s tax system, it is quite typical for an offshore zone: there is no income tax for commercial companies and individuals, and there are no taxes on capital gains either. There is a payroll tax (it is 10% for small businesses, 14% for others), duties on imported goods, postage, license fees, and company registration fees.
Thus, a company in the BVI is a preferential taxation, a business-friendly legal system based on the norms of English law and allowing companies registered here to cooperate with financial institutions of any country, the optional maintenance of accounting records and, finally, the minimum regulatory requirements for companies .
Types of companies in the BVI
Today the following types of companies can be registered in the BVI:
Companies limited by shares — companies limited by shares.
Companies limited by guarantees and not authorized to issue shares
Companies limited by guarantees authorized to issue shares
Unlimited companies authorized to issue shares
Unlimited companies not authorized to issue shares
Restricted purposes companies – companies with limited liability and certain fixed statutory purposes.
Segregated portfolio companies are limited liability companies that provide insurance services and have the right to separate the company’s assets and liabilities for each separately formed insurance portfolio.
Conditions for registering a company in the BVI
From a bureaucratic point of view, registering a business in the BVI is simple. One shareholder and one director are enough, and it can be one and the same person. The financial statements of the company can be stored in any country, since there are no requirements for its form and mandatory delivery. It is curious that there are separate requirements for the name of the company – it should not cause associations with the UK, the government, ministries and departments. If the company is engaged in banking, insurance or trust activities, then it must have an appropriate license.
Features of the operation of offshore companies registered in the BVI
BVI offshore activities are regulated by the British Virgin Islands Business Companies Act. Thus, according to the legislation, for offshore companies registered on the BVI, there is no currency control, the income tax rate is zero. Also, there is no sales tax, value added tax, dividends are not taxed, and so on. Management is only required to pay an annual license fee (from 300 to 1000 US dollars – the exact amount depends on the size of the authorized capital).
Note that in 2016 the rules for doing business in this country have undergone significant changes. This is due to the entry into force of amendments from 2004 to the previously mentioned Law (The BVI Business Companies (Amendment) Act 2016 (no. 19 of 2015 and no. 2 of 2016)), aimed at increasing the transparency of the financial system of the jurisdiction. Starting April 1, 2016, all companies registered here are required to submit data on directors and beneficiaries to the registration authority in the BVI. In addition, they must keep documentation describing and confirming financial transactions for five years (such as, for example, a statement of income, expenses, assets and liabilities). Documents must be available for inspection by local authorities. Violation of the rules for keeping financial records is punishable by a fine of $75,000.
Important!
The inclusion of information about directors and beneficiaries in the Public Register incurs an additional cost for companies in the amount of $50 per filing of one register. For late submission of data, a fine of $ 100 is provided.
Among other things, on March 1, 2014, the Convention of the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development came into force in the territory of the BVI, providing for the interstate exchange of tax information. The BVIs are also parties to a multilateral agreement on the automatic exchange of financial information. Since June 2017, the BVI have been exchanging information with the UK. In 2016, Russia also joined the agreement, and from September 2018 it began to receive information. In the order of the Federal Tax Service of Russia dated December 4, 2018 No. ММВ-7-17/786@, which contains a list of states (territories) that do not exchange information for tax purposes with Russia, there is no BVO.
Registration procedure
Registration (incorporation) of an offshore company in the BVI is extremely simple. The whole procedure is clearly regulated by BVI legislation and, as a rule, takes no more than two weeks.
Personal participation of the head of the company in the process of incorporation is optional – all registration activities can be carried out by an agent.
For the incorporation of an offshore company in the BVI, it is required to prepare a package of documents, including apostilled and translated into English constituent documents of the registered company (memorandum of association, articles of association, etc.), confirming the creation of a legal entity. All documents must be notarized. To prepare them, the registered agent needs:
scanned copies of the passports of the company’s shareholders;
scanned copies of passports of directors of the company;
a completed registration form containing, among other things, information about the company’s activities and its name (the latter will be checked by the agent for uniqueness in the BVI).
After payment of capital contributions and registration fees, the prepared statutory documents will be submitted to the BVI Registrar of Companies. Upon completion of registration, the organization receives the following package of documents:
Certificate of Incorporation.
Minutes of the First Meeting.
Consent to act as director.
Registers of directors and shareholders.
Articles of Association.
Memorandum of Association.
Resolution of issuing share certificate.
Share Certificate.
BVI offshore means stability, considerable benefits, and confidence in the future. Given the ease of registering a business in the territory of the BVO, incorporating an offshore company in this territory can contribute to a much more dynamic development of your business.
BVI company registration in 2023
The British Virgin Islands (BVI) is one of the most respected offshore financial centers in the world. For entrepreneurs, it was previously beneficial to register a company in the BVI. Despite the competition, about 40% of all offshore enterprises were established here and more than 5,000 enterprises were registered monthly.
Today, the BVI, like other offshore major zones, introduced economic presence laws. The new provisions apply to existing firms and are also mandatory when registering a company in the British Virgin Islands.
The law was introduced at the direction of the EU Code of Conduct Group on tax practices. Relevant legislative amendments have been made to “ Beneficial Ownership Secure Search System Law “, 2017 (“ BOSS Act “) to ensure accountability.

BOSS is a secure beneficial owner search engine. From June 30, 2017, it is necessary to upload data on the beneficial owners of each registered firm, which allows the relevant authorities to have a searchable database containing information on persons owning 25% of the shares.
It is worth noting that the register of beneficial owners after the introduction of BOSS is public.
If you are interested in registering a company in the BVI, under the Money Laundering Law, companies are required to comply with KYC obligations. Thus, the BOSS Law, in conjunction with the AML Law, requires entities to perform Know Your Customer (KYC) procedures for individuals who directly/indirectly control 10% or more of the shares of a legal entity.
company registration in the Virgin Islands: what to look for?
Information on the beneficial owners of each firm must be added to the system.
An entity must identify any person who is the beneficial owner or registered entity and notify the licensed agent of that information within 15 days of such person being identified.
Within 15 days, the registered agent must be notified of changes in the prescribed information and the dates on which they occurred.
“ES Law”
Everyone who works with foreign regions is already familiar with the concept of Substance – the real presence of the company in the zone. The deterioration of the global economic situation has forced international organizations to think about resolving the global balance in the field of international taxation and to identify companies that abuse international treaties for the avoidance of double taxation. One means of identifying such companies was the Substance requirement, which was introduced by the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development. The requirement includes having an office with a local director, secretary and staff when registering a new company in the BVI.
Given the trend of recent years, Substance conditions are spreading quite quickly among the most popular low-tax countries, such as Cyprus, BVI, Belize, Cayman Islands.
On January 1, 2019, the Substance terms went into effect in the BVI. They apply to:
registration of a company to provide banking services in the BVI;
finance and leasing;
Obtaining a BVI insurance company license;
shipping;
Obtaining a BVI fund manager license;
establishment of a holding company in the BVI;
distribution center enterprises.
In any case, it is necessary to pay for the verification of the company and its assets to determine whether the activity is subject to the newly introduced tax rates.
The International Tax Administration (ITA), responsible for implementation and monitoring, issued revised Rules in February 2020. The revised Rules address comments received from BVI, EU and OCED industry practitioners, set out the ITA’s interpretation of the ES Law, and how it will fulfill its obligations.
The law does not exempt delisted companies from the requirement to have the relevant Substance or to submit an annual return if the entity is reinstated.
Excluded entities that have regained good standing after December 29, 2020 will be required to file an annual return with the ITA and are likely to face penalties immediately upon reinstatement as the annual return deadline has already passed. For violation of the law, a fine is set, the minimum amount of which is $ 5,000. In case of non-payment of a fine, a cascade system of increasing fines begins to operate.

Diversity of corporations and trusts
In terms of the variety of corporations and trusts available, the BVI is one of the most diverse financial centers in the world. You can register an IBC on BVI in any of the following forms:
Limited/Ltd.
Corporation.
Incorporated/Inc.
Societe Anonyme/SA.
The Zone offers purpose trusts, which are often used to hold the shares of a private company.
Banking Opportunities
IBC companies wishing to open bank accounts in the BVI must have an active business with local staff, a local registered office and a licensed agent.
However, local banks have strict KYC requirements, personal visits and meetings are required to open bank accounts for IBCs in BVI. Therefore, it is extremely difficult to open an account in BVI banks.
In this case, it is advisable to order a consultation with a specialist who will tell you where it is most profitable to open an account for a company from the BVI.
How can a foreign company trade in the BVI?
A non-resident company may trade directly in the BVI, either through a contractual agreement with a local registered legal entity (through an agency agreement) or by obtaining a business license in the BVI.
Conclusion
The British Virgin Islands is an area that can be considered for setting up a company. Using a BVI legal entity to own an investment/property or run a business may not be profitable if the business is not related to the relevant activities as required by the ES Law.
To obtain detailed information about the conditions for doing business in the BVI, the right decision would be to book a consultation with a company registration specialist in the BVI. Frequently Asked Questions
Introduction
It can be stressful for dog parents to leave their fur babies alone at home while they’re away. They worry about their pooch being anxious, lonely, bored, and destructive. Plus, safety is a concern, along with the fear that their dog will leave unwelcome surprises for them in their home. If that describes you, dog daycare may be the solution.
Doggie daycare can help socialize your pup while ensuring that they have care, exercise, regular potty breaks, and safe supervision. Dog owners who use doggy daycare services provide additional reasons for their choice. It can offer a better quality of life for their four-legged friends, keep homes free of pet messes, and help with canine health and physical fitness.
What is a dog daycare?
Dog daycare is on-site, supervised daily care for dogs. Pet owners bring their animals to the daycare location on their way to work, then return at the end of the day to pick them up. There are commercial doggie daycare facilities and private, in-home options. Commercial daycare businesses usually have more staff and more dog clients than private ones.
What happens at doggy daycare?
Reputable, well-rated dog daycare operations typically offer several activities for the dogs they care for. That includes walks, playtime, naps, dog food, and water. Some providers also offer companionship, snuggles, and special options, such as dispensing medication, grooming, and training. When choosing a doggy daycare, ask about all the available services and whether visits or video observation are available.
Should I take my dog to daycare?
Answers to the following questions can help you decide on doggie daycare services.
Are you away from home for several hours most days of the week?
Does your pup engage in destructive behavior while you’re gone?
Is your pooch crated for several hours every day?
Does your dog walker report issues?
These concerns may indicate the need for doggy daycare.
How much is doggy daycare per day?
Rates vary, depending on location, demand, and competition. But the national average typically ranges from $25 to $40 per day. Half-day rates may also be available. Commercial dog daycare centers commonly charge a bit more than in-home providers. Many facilities offer price breaks on weekly and monthly packages as well as discounts to multiple dog families.
How do I know if my dog likes daycare?
The following are signs your pup likes doggy daycare. She falls asleep on the ride home, exhausted from a full day of activity or she quivers with excitement when you mention the daycare and is beside herself with joy leaving the house. Also look to see if your pup exhibits positive body language at the daycare — like a wagging tail that means they’re eager to see everyone.
How do I prepare my dog for daycare?
They’ll be around other dogs all day, playing and interacting. So, take your pup to a dog park several times for an introduction to dog language with other canines. Bring your fur baby to the daycare to meet the staff before using the service. Plus, walk your pup before drop-off and be upbeat and positive to avoid stress.

Intel will start restoring recently cut executive salaries only in October

The news of Intel’s threefold dividend cut was to some extent intended to restore justice, because in early February the company decided to cut the base salaries of executives at all levels, sometimes by tens of percent. Intended for official use, the newsletter told Intel employees that the corporation will begin restoring compensation packages from October of this year.
According to CRN, Intel had to do this to give executives at various levels of Intel confidence in the future, predictably puzzled by the need to part with revenue. Recall that CEO Patrick Gelsinger is due to lose 25% of guaranteed compensation in cash from March, executive vice presidents were deprived of 15% of base income, lower-level executives – 10%, and everyone else said goodbye to 5% of base salary. Board members have also agreed to cut their base salary by 25%, as we learned today.
Annual bonuses and compensation payments in the form of Intel shares were not affected by these reforms. The CEO, in his address to colleagues, explained that the company expects to start returning base salaries to the previous level in October this year. In the third quarter, quarterly bonuses will be returned, which have also been temporarily canceled since March. Payments of these premiums for the third quarter will take place in October this year. Intel’s Employer Retirement Participation Program will fully resume in January 2024.
It should be understood that even a 25% reduction in Patrick Gelsinger’s base salary will not have much effect on his personal income. Data for 2022 is not yet available, but preliminary calculations suggest that he earned about $26.3 million during this period. from March to October. In 2021, the then-new CEO of Intel received $178 million in total, but of this amount, only $8 million was paid in the form of cash, and the base salary was only $1.1 million. In his first working year as head of Intel, Patrick Gelsinger received large incentive payments, so the period is not very typical for estimating his average income.
This year, Patrick Gelsinger’s salary structure will include a bonus for success in reducing the company’s costs, so with the need to cut them by $ 3 billion, part of this savings may go to the CEO himself, although it is obvious that this component will not be dominant.
At the same time, Intel announced in its internal mailing that Frans Scheper, president and general manager in the EMEA region (Europe, Middle East and Africa), who lasted a little over a year, will leave his post on March 31. Intel’s regional executive is reportedly leaving work “for personal reasons.” His duties until the selection of a permanent successor will be performed by Dermot Hargaden, who leads sales in the Programmable Solutions Group, formed from the assets of Altera, a developer of programmable matrices, which Intel acquired in 2015.

The head of Intel agreed to cut his own salary by 25% amid a sharp drop in revenue and profits. Intel’s top management will be cut by 15%, senior managers – by 10%, middle managers – by 5%. Last week, the company released one of the worst quarterly forecasts in its 50-year history.
Intel CEO Pat Gelsinger agreed to cut his own base salary by 25%. Bloomberg writes about this with reference to the statement of the American chipmaker.
The reduction will also affect other members of Intel’s senior management, whose salaries will be cut by 15%. For senior managers, the rate will be reduced by 10%, for middle managers – by 5%, the statement says.

Intel took this step against the backdrop of a sharp decline in profits and revenues, explains Bloomberg. Fierce competition and a decline in demand for personal computers reduced the company’s cash reserves. Last week, Intel released a forecast for the first quarter of 2023, according to which it will be one of the worst in the manufacturer’s 50-year history, the agency notes.
“As we continue to overcome macroeconomic headwinds and work to reduce costs across the company, we have made a number of changes to our employee compensation and incentive programs for 2023,” the chipmaker’s press office said. They added that the pay cuts would affect management staff more and help free up funds to “accelerate our transformation and implement our long-term strategy.”
At the same time, Intel will continue to pay dividends to shareholders, although analysts predict that the company may reduce these payments as well to cope with the slowdown in growth.

Intel isn’t the only big company to cut executive salaries. In mid-January, Apple CEO Tim Cook took a 40% pay cut on his own initiative, to $49 million in 2023. Goldman Sachs CEO David Solomon made a similar decision earlier, cutting his 2022 remuneration by nearly 30% to $25 million. In January, Google announced plans to lay off more than 12,000 employees, Microsoft announced plans to lay off 10,000 employees, and Salesforce announced plans to lay off 7,000 employees. Amazon is preparing to lay off more than 18,000 people.
