90,000 European Union after Brexit: return of the French language? (France24, France)

Foreign Media more 1

French is one of the three official working languages in European institutions along with English and German. However, it is used less and less by officials and deputies. 20 years ago, 40% of the texts that appeared as a result of the work of the European Commission were written in French, and today they are only 3% … Will the language of Molière regain its privileged position after Brexit and the departure of the British MPs? There is no certainty in this.

© InoSMI

“We are a group of European officials, and with great regret we are forced today to appeal to higher authorities, demanding our most elementary right: the right to work in French.”

Video of the day

This letter was sent to the President of the European Commission before she took the oath.

The authors of the letter were a mysterious group of officials calling themselves “Blue Square”. Because of their positions, they cannot reveal their names. But be that as it may, they prefer to remain anonymous.

“It’s not easy to want to work in French and not be accused of typical French linguistic chauvinism.

This team member has worked for the European Commission for ten years. During this time, he noticed that French was being used less and less.

“Mainly English is used. I remember once, many years ago, we prepared a draft document that was written in French. And the management told us bluntly that this time it would pass, but that this would never happen again. And this came from our superiors, including those whose native language was French.”

Working papers available in English, French and German. And how does everything happen in the press center?

European Commission spokesman: “[in French] Hello and welcome to our afternoon meeting. [cuts into English] First, I would like to tell you about the President’s telephone conversations…”

“Chairman Juncker was shocked and saddened by the news of the death of Jacques Chirac…”

A. Le Bourdon, France24 journalist [asks question in French ]: “I would like to ask how you feel about the open letter addressed to Ursula von der Leyen about the defense of the use of the French language. Do you understand these requirements?

Mina Andreeva, Spokesperson for the European Commission [replies in French]: “French is the second most used language in the Commission. 144,… 114 pages… thousand pages were translated into French in 2018. Chairman Juncker insisted that the French language retain its dignified position.

This declaration caught the attention of Lorenzo Consoli, an Italian journalist who had long championed the use of French in European institutions. Console has been operating in Brussels for 30 years, and he remembers the days when press conferences were very different.

“If someone asked a question in English, the spokesman would translate it into French and then answer the question in French. Boris Johnson, the current Prime Minister of Great Britain, who worked here as a correspondent for British publications, asked questions in French. Yes, he had an incredible accent, but he asked questions in French.

Blue Square also complains in its letter that the leadership is forcing Commission officials to speak English even in the European Parliament, which has an army of interpreters for all 24 official languages of the European Union.

We decided to clarify which languages were spoken by MPs during the recent hearings in the European Parliament on the admission of future members of the commission.

Let’s start with the Belgian Didier Reynders.

Didier Reynders [speaking French]: “We keep our own characteristics…” [speaking English]: “We must project our values…” [speaking Dutch]

Janusz Wojciechowski, Polish candidate for the post of member of the agriculture commission.

Janusz Wojciechowski: “If I become a member of the commission, I will put forward a proposal…”

After listening to a series of very vague and repetitive answers, the MEPs called the candidate for a second interview. And he changed his strategy.

Janusz Wojciechowski: “And now I would like to speak in my native language, Polish. [cuts into Polish] European farming must be competitive…”

Jurek Kuczkiewicz, a Belgian journalist of Polish origin, says it was as if a completely different candidate appeared before the audience when Wojciechowski switched to Polish.

Jurek Kuczkevich: “He no longer seemed incompetent, as during the first interview, although everyone knows, even his opponents, that he is a man who understands agriculture. Speaking in Polish, he was able to deliver a perfectly intelligible speech to the audience.”

Thus, multilingualism can be a key factor for the proper functioning of a democracy. But the parliamentary translation service cannot service all sessions. Jeremy Decerles, the newly elected French MEP, learned this firsthand from his first meeting with his colleagues in the Liberal parliamentary group.

D. Deserle: “Hi, Dasyan. How are you?”

D. Deserle: “The meeting was not translated. There were only seven or eight of us. Everyone spoke English. And I was the only one who could neither speak nor understand it. So, you see, it’s not that simple.”

Having taken a seat in parliament, the young politician also began his English lessons.

However, the language actually spoken in Brussels is often referred to as Globish. This is a kind of simplified English, understandable to people from different countries. And the situation threatens to get worse.

Brexit could lead to the expulsion of English-speaking MPs from parliament. And it is possible that English will soon disappear from the list of official languages of the European Union. After all, according to the documents, in Malta the official language is Maltese, and in Ireland – Gaelic.

Dan van Remdonk, Professor of Linguistics at the Free University of Brussels: “It might seem a little strange if the European Union chooses as its main language for work and communication outside of meetings one that is not on its list of official languages. This is how the Anglo-American culture gets a huge influence, which – and this is not my opinion, but a fact of the economy – runs the risk of becoming our enemy.

French President Emmanuel Macron agrees. He expressed the hope that knowledge of French would soon become compulsory again in Brussels.

Other, Emmanuel Macron, Jacques Chirac, Boris Johnson, European Parliament, European Commission, EU

Scholarships: how to find and where to apply? Scholarships: how to find and where to apply?

French Government Scholarships

The French Embassy in Russia has opened an information resource dedicated to scholarship programs for studying in France. Scholarship applicants can find comprehensive information and apply on the website https://bgfrussie.ru/

Image

To apply, you need to register and complete your online application within the specified time frame.

Online registration is simple and free: just create your page with a login and password and select the scholarship programs you are interested in.

The criteria for granting scholarships can be very different: what matters is your academic performance at a Russian university, knowledge of foreign languages, motivation and professional plans for the future. That is why we advise you to pay special attention to filling out an online dossier, on the basis of which a decision on granting a scholarship will be made.

Important information : when applying for a scholarship, you must indicate the name of the French university in which you are already enrolled , and the name of the study program. Unfortunately, French universities are not always able to provide such confirmations before the deadline for applying for a scholarship. You should check with the coordinator of scholarship programs for solutions to this situation.

The solution to this problem may be to go through the full procedure for enrolling in French universities through the Campus France online dossier before the deadline for applying for a scholarship : in this case, you can attach to your online dossier http://bgfrussie.ru not a confirmation of enrollment in a French university, but a list of selected universities from your CampusFrance electronic dossier.

European Commission Scholarships

Information about the scholarships of the European Commission Delegation in Moscow can be found on its website: https://eeas.europa.eu

The conditions and procedure for participation in the competition must be specified on the websites and with the coordinator of each program.

Is Cash Really King? The Role Of Cash In Childcare And Daycare | by Pay Theory

6 min read

·

Dec 15, 2021

Child care costs are a regular sticking point for new families. Based on recent studies, the majority of families spent over $10,000 on child care in 2020, and nearly all spend more than 10% of their household income on childcare. That can be higher than in-state college tuition!

The actual cost of childcare depends on a lot of factors, including where you live, how old your child is, and what kind of care you need. However, one thing stays the same: those ever-increasing bills need to be paid.

In an ever-digitizing world, it may surprise you to hear that you can still pay for childcare costs with cash. The question is: is it worth it?

Low-income to middle-class families have a few different ways to find the funds for childcare. Some may even combine a few (or all) or the payment options, depending on their situation.

Some companies allow their employees to allow some of their paycheck (pre-tax) towards FSA accounts for childcare. While the actual paycheck that hits their bank account is smaller, this can help families save money come tax time.

However, many have a “use it or lose it” policy. Some employees are losing their FSA money set aside from their paychecks by having it stuck in a dependency-care flexible spending account that they couldn’t employ during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Whether you have a live-in caregiver or daycare facility, bank transfers and eChecks are becoming more accessible as a “cash online” type of payment. This option allows for funds to be transferred from anywhere with just the account and routing information. While the process is convenient, there may be some processing time to consider, which must be accounted for in order to avoid late fees or bounced payments.

Some childcare programs allow parents to pay for their services with credit cards. While this payment system is certainly convenient, it can come with some serious drawbacks as well.

For one, your one-on-one caregivers may not be able to accept credit cards. Some of your daycare facilities may not accept them either, either because they don’t have the means to do so, or the fees outweigh the benefits. Processing fees can be up to 3% per transaction, which adds up quickly with the skyrocketing cost of childcare.

That 3% may not seem like much at first, but over time, those fees can blow up your child care budget. The average annual cost of childcare is around $10,000; with a 3% processing fee, that’s $300 a year that can eat into a family’s already tight budget. What could you do with an extra $300 a year?

If you pay off your credit cards each month, then the potential rewards and cash back (or even those airline miles!) may be worth the processing fees for you. However, not paying your credit card off each month can quickly make this a bad decision for childcare costs, as this will lead to carrying debt from month to month.

Image by Frantisek Krejci from Pixabay

For some parents, paying with cash or a check makes the most sense. It’s a fairly straightforward method of payment that can be used for any caregiver, whether it be your teenage babysitter or your daycare facility.

Paying cash seems easy at first, and it’s commonly used for paying one-on-one caregivers or in-house daycares. Some families even hire an au pair as the least expensive option and pay in cash. Others may seek out low-cost daycare options (like church-subsidized facilities) and pay in cash there.

The high costs of childcare make cash payments a difficult choice. Cash is still accepted in most situations, but as our society becomes more and more digitized, the benefits of cash payments don’t always outweigh the drawbacks.

There are some pros to paying for childcare in cash. Some of these main benefits include:

  • The caregiver gets the funds immediately, so neither party needs to worry about the payment bouncing or incurring late fees.
  • There are no processing fees (which can quickly add up to hundreds of extra dollars on top of the cost of childcare itself).
  • You can use cash for smaller-scale child care situations, such as babysitters and nannies.

Image by Michal Jarmoluk from Pixabay

If you choose to use cash to pay for childcare, there are certainly benefits to doing so. However, cash also comes with its own disadvantages. Some of these limitations include:

  • Unlike card payments, there is no dispute protection for your cash payments. Once the cash leaves your hands, it becomes much harder — if not impossible — to reverse your payment.
  • If your cash is lost or stolen, that money is usually gone forever.
  • Paying in cash is more time-consuming. You need to withdraw cash from the bank or ATM, give the cash to your caregiver in person, make change (if the amount is not exact), and then wait for the caregiver to deposit that money into their own account.
  • Storing and transporting cash payments requires additional time and resources (such as a till). At best, this process is annoying. At worst, it can be dangerous, as practically anything can happen during transport to lose that cash (accidentally, or by robbery).
  • There is no automatic paper trail. When making cash payments, you need to make and store receipts on your own. This lack of records makes it more likely that you will be audited by the IRS (especially if you claim a tax credit).

You may also want to save up an emergency fund in cash that can be used towards childcare in hard times, like if one parent loses their job, or another large expense leaves your family low on other funds.

Cash payments require meticulous bookkeeping in order to better prepare you for tax season. You can claim deductions or even tax credits for your paid-in-cash childcare costs, but you need to do it strategically.

First, you need to have detailed receipts for each transaction, even if you have to make them yourself. Have everything in writing, including who the payment is to, how much, and when it was paid.

There are specific parameters that need to be met in order for you to use these cash payments as childcare tax decisions. For one, you can’t pay your spouse or your older children and then use those payments for tax purposes.

You also need to be able to prove that each payment was used solely for childcare. Mileage, food costs, and other expenses aren’t eligible for these kinds of deductions. (However, if you include the costs of takeout in your babysitter’s overall rate, that can still apply).

As a final note, you will also need the SSN of your caregiver to include on your tax return.

There is still a place for cash payments in the field of childcare, but today, it’s a matter of when. When considering using cash as your primary method of payment, make sure to account for the extra time, effort, and drawbacks that come with cash payments, especially when it comes to childcare.

And as always, keep an eye out for new resources that give you a central payment system for all of your childcare needs. Payment apps and systems make it easier every day to pay for your childcare faster and more efficiently. Childcare costs are hard enough; actually paying them doesn’t need to be a chore, too.

Child care assistance | Hennepin County

The child care assistance program helps families pay for child care so parents can work, look for a job or attend school. The program is available for families with children younger than 13 and with children with special needs who are younger than 15.

Information for parents

Choose a provider

Select a child care provider that is best for your children. Your provider can be:

  • Licensed child care centers (licensed through the state)
  • Licensed family child care (licensed through Hennepin County)
  • Licensed exempt child care (such as school programs)
  • Legally unlicensed family child care (provider must be 18 or older and must pass a background check)

All providers must be registered with Hennepin County to participate in the program. Unlicensed providers must pass background checks.

It is a good idea to interview the child care provider and visit the program before using the service.

Care for school-age children

Studies show that children in quality school-age programs are more likely to turn in homework, attend school, and have improved school behavior. Children are also less likely to participate in risky behavior such as smoking, drinking, or using drugs. Research tells us school-age programs also:

  • Help kids learn social skills
  • Create changes to get involved in communities
  • Connect families to other services

Questions and answers

How often do I have to submit paperwork?

After you are approved for benefits, a renewal form must be completed every six months along with updated proof of income and activity.

What kinds of changes should I report?

Report any changes in income, jobs (starting or ending), work hours, school schedules, marital status, family size, and address, within 10 days. These changes can affect your eligibility, your approved care, or the co-pay amount.

What is an overpayment?

This is child care money paid out in excess of what a person was eligible to receive. It must be paid back. As long as you are receiving child care benefits, your co-pay will be increased until the debt is paid in full.

How do I change child care providers?

Contact a child care assistance worker right away. The current provider must be given a 15-day written notice to end care. The new provider must be registered in Hennepin County.

Can a child use multiple providers?

More than one provider can be used per child. A child care worker will figure out how much care a child can have with each provider. The total amount of care cannot exceed 120 hours in a two-week period for each child.

How much will I have to pay for child care?

The size of your co-pay will depend on your family size and other factors. You can look up your co-pay on the Minnesota Department of Human Services website. You may have additional costs.

Family co-payment schedules – October 2021 (PDF)

Hennepin County pays child care providers only up to maximum rates. If providers charge more than maximum rates, the family must pay the difference. Providers can also charge for:

  • Late fees
  • Optional activity fees
  • Transportation fees
  • Hours not authorized for payment by Hennepin County

Be sure you understand the child care provider’s payment policies.

Information for child care providers

Registering as a child care provider

Providers cannot be reimbursed for child care services until both the provider and family have been authorized to receive child care assistance payments.

The authorization for providers involves registering with the county or tribe that serves the family and meeting the necessary requirements for receiving payment from the Child Care Assistance Program (CCAP). In Hennepin County, the registration process is initiated when an eligible family notifies the CCAP of their chosen provider. Paperwork is then sent out to the chosen provider to complete. Once the paperwork is returned, Hennepin County reviews it and notifies the provider if they have been approved or additional information is needed.

Billing and receiving payments

After the family is authorized to receive assistance and the provider is registered, the CCAP agency will send the provider a service authorization listing the number of hours of care approved for each child, the maximum rates for each child and the family’s co-payment amount. Providers must submit bills within 60 days of the last date of care or the date the billing form was sent, whichever is later.

For more information, see the Department of Human Services’ Child Care Provider Guide.

For billing or payment questions, contact Accounts Payable at 612-348-3445 or [email protected]. If you need replacement billing forms for a specific CCAP case, contact the assigned child care worker.

Re-authorization of providers

  • Providers must complete the provider registration process and be re-authorized every two years.
  • Legal non-licensed providers must be re-authorized when another person older than the age of 13 joins the household, a current household member turns 13 or there is reason to believe a household member may prevent authorization. In some cases, a legal non-licensed provider might need to be re-authorized when a person older than the age of 10 joins the household or a current member of the household turns 10.

Payment rates for providers

Maximum rates depend on the type of child care setting and are determined by the State. Hennepin County rates can be found on the Department of Human Services website.

  • Provider standard maximum rates
  • Provider 15 percent quality differential maximum rates
  • Provider 20 percent quality differential maximum rates

Unmet co-pays

If a parent does not keep current with co-pays, contact the child care worker. Benefits will end until the co-pay is paid or the provider agrees to another payment arrangement.

Reporting changes

Providers must notify the agency immediately of any changes to information previously submitted on their registration form (Provider Acknowledgement), including address, phone number, rates, charges for absences and holidays, notice days required before a child ends care and required registration fees.

Providers can report changes by downloading and mailing in a paper form to the address below or submitting an electronic form.

How to pay for a kindergarten through Sberbank Online: using details from a mobile phone

If you need to pay for a kindergarten, they offer several options, incl. through remote services. If you have a Sberbank card, you should know how to pay for kindergarten through Sberbank Online. This will help to reduce the time for the operation and deposit money in a timely manner.

Sberbank Online provides plastic card holders with an undeniable advantage – the ability to pay for services remotely without leaving home, if you download the Sberbank Online application to your mobile device and assign an entry code. So, you can pay for the kindergarten from anywhere, only if you have access to the Internet.

Registration in Sberbank Online occurs using an identifier issued by an employee of Sberbank upon receipt of plastic. It can also be requested later by phone through the Contact Center. You can also register yourself, for which you will need to indicate your card number and the phone connected to it on the Sberbank Online website by clicking on “Registration”.

Pay a receipt for kindergarten in Sberbank Online

There are several ways to pay for kindergarten through Sberbank Online. The choice of method depends on several parameters:

  • Is there a kindergarten in the Sberbank database;
  • Whether the payment will be made according to details or personal account.

If the kindergarten where you want to transfer the payment is not on the list, you will have to use the search line

Sberbank will charge a commission for the transaction without fail. It is commission 1%, as for most online transfers in favor of legal entities. This is a small price to pay for the convenience and comfort when paying for kindergarten services online.

Personal account

Almost all public kindergartens are included in the Sberbank database. This means that he already has all the details necessary for making a transfer, and there is no need to fill them out separately. Most private (commercial) institutions also prefer to cooperate with Sberbank, as with the largest bank, whose cards are owned by more than half of the country’s population.

You can pay for such a child care institution according to the instructions:

In the “Payments and transfers” section, go down to the bottom – “Payment for purchases and services”

In the “Education” subsection, select “Kindergartens and preschool institutions”. In the search menu that appears, you should find your garden. Their list is provided on the page, taking into account the selected region.

The kindergarten can be found through the “Search”, where it is allowed to drive in any known parameter: name, TIN, current account The next step is to fill out the payment order, according to the data from the receipt issued in kindergarten

The payment card immediately displays known parameters: recipient details and name of the garden. It remains to fill in the missing columns:

  • Designate your card for debiting. If there are several, a list of all will be offered for selection, indicating the current balance.
  • Institution account;
  • Payment period;
  • Citizenship;
  • Document: RF passport;
  • Series and passport number;
  • Personal account number;
  • Amount.

UIN is set to 0. This parameter does not need to be changed.

Next comes the validation of the data. If filled out correctly – confirmation code, which is sent in the message.

Depending on the region and the requirements of a particular institution, the points may differ slightly.

By details

If the kindergarten is not in the list of Sberbank institutions, you should use the second method. To do this, you must have full details of the kindergarten. All of them are contained on the receipt, or they can be clarified in the accounting department of the preschool institution.

Having visited the same section of Sberbank Online, you should go to “Organization Transfer” and fill in the fields:

  • Select a card product for sending money.
  • Write down: TIN, account number and BIC of the beneficiary’s bank. If all the information is correct, further lines will open.
  • Enter: OKTMO, name of the garden, CBC and amount.
  • Be sure to write down your last name in the note so that the recipient has no doubts about the sender of the money.

Start filling in the fields of an electronic payment order in Sberbank Online, the system will help you complete the payment with prompts

This is followed by the standard confirmation step.

Creating an auto payment

In order not to go through the same procedure every time, you can save the template after making the first payment. The next time you need to open it, edit if necessary and confirm.

All created templates will always be available in Sberbank Online.

You can also pay for kindergarten using auto payment. This function provides for sending money automatically on the date specified by the client and in the specified amount. The procedure provides for a reminder on the eve of the date of dispatch of the need to pay for the specified details. If the user does not send a cancellation code to Sberbank, then the operation is performed.

An auto payment is created in the “My Auto Payments” section of Sberbank Online. In the template, you need to specify the details of the recipient, the amount and frequency of the transfer.

Via the mobile application

The interface is somewhat different in the mobile application, but in general, you can pay for a receipt in the Sberbank Online application using a barcode, following the instructions above.

To search for a kindergarten, you need to go to “Other” in the “Payments and transfers” section0002 To do this, after the recipient is defined, click on Scan barcode. After that, you need to bring the receipt to the camera of the mobile. In this case, all data will automatically fall into the payment order. The user only needs to verify them, assign a card for debiting, enter the amount and send it to Sberbank for execution.

Receipt is recommended to be kept. It can also be sent by mail so that you can print it later.

There is no payment without commission.

Pritzker Administration Launches Pilot Program to Support Quality Improvements for Child Care Providers in Rural Illinois Communities

CHICAGO – The Illinois Governor’s Office of Early Childhood Development (GOECD) today announced a new pilot program to address obstacles faced by rural child care providers in meeting the state’s quality of care standards. In partnership with the Illinois Department of Human Services (IDHS), GOECD is providing thirty-five (35) centers in rural counties with $3.8 million in funding per year to hire additional staff or increase the salaries of existing staff. The pilot program, made possible by both federal and state funding, is expected to run for three years, and builds on the Pritzker administration’s ongoing commitment to improving equity and accessibility to quality child care for all Illinois families.

“Child care investments not only nurture our youngest residents, but also allow working parents to embrace their full potential,” said Governor JB Pritzker. “I’m proud that Illinois has been the best in the nation during this pandemic in supporting child care providers and the children they serve. This important pilot program strengthens our ongoing efforts to improve equity in every corner of our state, bringing new resources to regions where families have historically had less easy access to quality child care. The truest measure of our pandemic recovery will be the opportunities and support we offer our working families, and Illinois will leave no community behind as we build the future our residents deserve.”

“Governor JB Pritzker and his administration want every child to enter school safe, healthy, ready to succeed, and eager to learn. This pilot gives us the opportunity to test a new approach to child care quality that we can evaluate based on data and evidence,” said Dr. Jamilah R. Jor’dan, Executive Director of GOECD. “We are excited to be working closely with the 35 child care centers participating in this pilot and with our partners at the Illinois Department of Human Services.

Unlike other programs which reward child care providers already meeting quality of care standards, this pilot program facilitates grants to child care centers in need of additional support to increase quality of care. Participating centers will be reviewed using ExceleRate Illinois, the state’s quality and rating improvement system for child care providers.

“Governor Pritzker has a clear understanding of the significant meaning and impactful ways the child care industry supports families across the state. We are pleased to be we working with the Governor’s Office of Early Childhood Development and see 35 centers benefit from this federal funding.  This is an opportunity to support providers and enhance accessibility to quality child care for all Illinois families,” said Grace Hou, Secretary, Illinois Department of Human Services.

Pilot funding is allocated per classroom and is provided to centers up-front for salary and staffing improvements centers need to meet standards beyond the basic licensing requirements. Pilot participants are working towards implementation of ExceleRate Illinois’ standards for Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI).

“Morale is up!  Teachers feel they are more appreciated,” said Dr. Jill Andrews, president of the Southern Illinois Early Childhood Action Team and owner of Kiddie Kollege Early Childhood Center in Fairfield, IL. “The improved salaries based on credentials, along with regular team planning, are making a difference. Planning and testing improvements at a much faster pace is more effective than just annual reporting for quality.”

“Childcare providers frequently operate with limited or scarce resources and when the pandemic hit, the consequences on the childcare industry were devastating,” said State Senator Dale Fowler (R-Harrisburg). “The pandemic only reinforced the fact that childcare centers are critical to working families. This program will give facilities and workers in Southern Illinois some much needed financial assistance to help them recover and continue to provide the critical service they do to our communities.

“Teachers and staff make a huge difference in our children’s lives and are the main reason for their academic success while they’re in school and away from home,” said State Senator Doris Turner (D-Springfield). “I am pleased that the Decatur Day Care, among others, was selected to receive this grant. This grant directs funding to a program most families need. Child care is expensive and it’s crucial we provide our teachers and staff with support, especially during this time which has been difficult for everyone.”

“The rural childcare pilot program is a perfect fit for Decatur Daycare,” stated Rep. Sue Scherer (D-Decatur). “It will help employ more teachers and support staff, as well as increase salaries to retain quality teachers. It is an honor for Decatur Daycare center to be chosen for this wonderful pilot program!”

“The influx of these funds for our rural childcare centers comes at a critical time,” stated Rep. Norine Hammond (D-Macomb). “The children cared for at We Care Center are 100% children of low-income families. Families that desperately need this help.”

The following centers are participating in the pilot:

These 35 centers include 577 teachers and assistants in 104 infant/toddler classrooms, 63 preschool classrooms, and 37 school-age rooms. The Pilot is supported by the federal Preschool Development Grant Birth through Five (PDG B-5) and State child care funds.

This project was made possible by grant number 90TP0057. The contents of this press release do not necessarily represent the official view of the United States Department of Health and Human Services, Administration for Children and Families.

Illinois launches rural child care quality improvement program

CHICAGO, Ill. (KFVS) – The Illinois Governor’s Office of Early Childhood Development (GOECD) announced on March 19 that they will launch a new pilot problem to help rural child care meet the state’s quality of care standards.

Thirty-five centers in rural counties will receive $3.8 million in funding per year for staffing for the next three years.

The following centers are participating in the pilot:

  • Amity Learning Center, Freeport
  • Bright Beginning Learning Day Care Center, LLC, Harrisburg
  • Bright Start Child and Family Education Center, Mt. Vernon
  • Buckeroo Early Education Center, Inc., Flora
  • Bumblebee Child Care Center & Pre-K, Mt. Vernon

This program is different from others because it does not only apply to centers already fulfilling the state’s standards. This program was created to help centers who do not already meet the ExceleRate Illinois’ standards for Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI).

“Childcare providers frequently operate with limited or scarce resources and when the pandemic hit, the consequences on the childcare industry were devastating,” said State Senator Dale Fowler (R-Harrisburg). “The pandemic only reinforced the fact that childcare centers are critical to working families.

Does my dog need Daycare?

  • Is your dog lonely or bored?
  • Is he showing signs of separation anxiety?
  • Are they digging up the back yard?
  • Having accidents in the house?
  • Are you coming home to a house that has been destroyed by your overly energetic fur ball?
  • Is your dog ready to go for a walk or even a RUN when you get home after a long day of work?
  • Wouldn’t you rather she be relaxed and ready to watch TV with you?
  • Are they stuck in a cramped crate all day?
  • Is your dog barking non-stop?
  • Or maybe they are just in need of a social life?

Then Dog Daycare may be the answer to your problems! We provide all day play in a secure and supervised environment. Doggies get to run, romp, and get rowdy in our large outside play yards or take a break in our air-conditioned accommodations. They can relax in the shade and enjoy treat, or splash in the pool!

At K9 Mastery, your pups’ fun times might include dashing around, sniffing everything, frolicking, fetching, yapping, tug-o-war, sun bathing, socializing with buddies and just plain being a dog!

We do separate play groups based on size and we are very observant of dog behavior. We may also separate the play groups if needed based energy levels of our campers that day.

While at K9 Mastery
your pet will enjoy interaction with both dogs & people. We reinforce positive behavior with lots of love and kisses! Good behavior and manners are required by our campers to ensure the safety of each camper and counselor here at K9 Mastery

Requirements

Not all dogs are compatible with each other, so a temperament/health check and evaluation day are conducted on each camper-wannabe to ensure they will fit in with our group. The purpose is to be sure that new dogs are not unduly stressed and enjoy playing with the other dogs at K9 Mastery. We want to be sure that your dog will be happy with us!

Evaluations/trial days of daycare are by appointment only. Please submit a daycare application to be scheduled for an evaluation day.

Trial days of daycare are scheduled by appointment on Monday – Friday. Drop will be scheduled between 8 – 9 am, and pick up times will be scheduled 5 pm or later. Please be sure to have your dog’s profile completed within our boarding/daycare software and all vaccinations recorded on the profile and up to date before your drop off. Drop offs usually take no more than 10-15 minutes. Your dog will then stay with us the full day with pick up during our evening hours. If all goes well during this trial day, your dog is officially enrolled at K9 Mastery for Daycare and you can begin scheduling regular visits!

Please make sure that you are available to pick up your dog if they are not doing well at daycare. We do have the option to isolate them if you are unable to pick up, but we prefer stressed dogs get picked up quickly.

We do not discriminate based on breed. If your dog is comfortable and can play well the other dogs in our care, this is the place to be!

Wee Care Learning Center | Bastrop County Cares

At Wee Care, our program philosophy is based on the premise that children learn about the world around them through play (active involvement with other children, adults, and materials). Children need years of experience with real objects and events before they are ready to understand the meaning of symbols such as letters and numbers. Learning takes place as young children touch, manipulate, and experiment, with things and interact with people. The teachers’ role is to create an environment that supports the ideas and experiences of children and invites them to observe, be active, make choices, and experiment. Children spontaneously engage in activities such as block building, painting, or dramatic play, adding pieces of information to what they already know and thereby generating experience. Children learn simple concepts and then use these concepts to grasp more complex ideas (the building blocks of learning).

WE KNOW THAT COVID-19 HAS CREATED SOME DIFFICULT CIRCUMSTANCES FOR THE WORLD AND OUR COMMUNITY, BUT WE ARE STILL HERE FOR YOUR CHILD CARE NEEDS. Wee Care is currently acccepted your school age children, infants, toddlers, threes, fours, and five year olds. Wee Care Learning center is an approved child care provider listed with Workforce Solutions Capital area Child care Services program.

Wee Care 159 Settlement Drive is accepting additional students. Concerning Covid-19 health measures: We are utilizing 1/2of our classrooms daily. Every other day, the unoccupied rooms are sanitized.
We are rotating children into sanitized rooms. Additionally, we are using paper products and disposable cups and spoons.  Every staff member and child are assessed daily for fever, cough, runny nose, and flu like symptoms. I realize that this unexpected situation has created financial problems. I know that God is my provider, that being said, if you need care for your children but cannot see your way through the fog of suddenly needing to pay for a previously free institution, call me. I will do my best to work with you. Our facility is huge, so I have plenty of availability. If you are on CCS, TWC is covering your co-pays for April. I acknowledge the stress that these uncertainties cause, however I believe in the power of Gods Word, and His faithfulness to His children. I believe in declarations of faith, (Job 22:28) “And you will declare a thing and it will be established.” Wee Care is here to help, this facility was God’s idea. It’s during times like today that the vision becomes so clear. We Love Bastrop and all of its tiniest citizens. Let us know how we can help. 512-791-6652 please share this via Facebook and also verbally.

Child Care Center – SUNY Cortland

  1. Home

  2. Offices

  3. Child Care Center

Little hands can do so many things

Welcome and thank you for visiting. We think you’ll see after browsing that what you’re looking for in on-campus child care is right here at the SUNY Cortland Child Care Center.

Our center is located on the SUNY Cortland campus and was opened in 1993 to serve students and staff of the college, New York state employees, SUNY Cortland alumni and members of the community. Everything within the center was designed and built with the young child in mind, so the facility is child-centered and appropriately furnished.

We’re a New York state licensed child care center, licensed for up to 98 children. Our center has seven classrooms: two infant rooms, two toddler rooms and three preschool rooms. We have extensive infant, toddler and preschool playgrounds directly outside our building with covered patios for rainy day play. We also have two indoor gross motor spaces where the children can expend their energy and use their large muscles when the weather is not conducive to outdoor play. Daily activities and routines are geared to promote development of children cognitively, physically, socially and emotionally.

Tuition assistance is available to income eligible students.

Our staff are all professionals in the early childhood field. Our teachers all have appropriate credentials in early childhood education or a related field. And all our staff are required to participate in ongoing training to keep abreast of current trends in child development and education.

One of the best benefits of being on campus is the involvement of the SUNY Cortland students in the center. Our early childhood department collaborates with our program, involving students through fieldwork placements and practicum experiences. The students contribute an energy and enthusiasm that is contagious among the children and staff here at the center. What better way for them to learn than active involvement in our daily programming.

We’re hoping that this “virtual” visit to our home page will be followed with a personal visit from you. We’ll all look forward to meeting you.

Most sincerely,
The SUNY Cortland Child Care Center Staff and Administration

Chapel Hill Day Care Center

The Chapel Hill Day Care Center is an early childhood education center offering infant and toddler care, as well as programs for preschool and pre-k children. We are located in Chapel Hill, North Carolina.

We have several qualities that set us apart from other five-star centers.

  • Continuity of Care – We strive for children and teachers to stay together as a family-group from 6 weeks to 3 years. This enables your child and you to bond with his/her teacher during these early years.

  • Excellent Ratios – We offer the best ratio of teachers to infants in the area to ensure the highest quality of care, attention, and support for your baby.  We recognize and support the importance of low ratios for all of our youngest children.

    • 1:3 teacher to infant ratio

    • 1:5 teacher to toddler ratio

    • 1:6 teacher to twos ratio

  • Approaches to Learning:

    • Developmentally Appropriate Practices – In conjunction with and guided by a formal curriculum, our preparation for kindergarten occurs through hands-on, play-based experiences and activities, which are driven by children’s natural curiosity of and desire to understand and master the world around them. Our teachers are highly qualified and respect the language, culture, and values of individual families.

  • Child-Centered Philosophy – Our center strives to be an extension of home; we believe the best way to help a child develop socially, emotionally, cognitively, and physically is to recognize and celebrate the uniqueness of each child and to honor all children as individuals. We also believe in messy and fun exploration each and every day!

  • Location – conveniently located in the heart of Southern Village, our families take advantage of the Park & Ride, Southern Village Community Playground, and picking up a quick coffee or dinner at Weaver Street Market and local restaurants.

Best Place To Get Babies Ears Pierced?

    Baby

    ByWinters

    HoursUpdated:

Recently, I’ve been flooded with questions from new moms about babies’ ear piercings.

For example, what are the best places to get a baby girl’s ears pierced? Or what is the right time to get a baby’s ears pierced?

So I’ve compiled all baby’s ear-piercing facts (that matters!) and have put them right here. Swear by this guide, and you’ll be ready to achieve a new milestone with your little one.

What Is the Right Time to Get Your Baby’s Ear Pierced?

It’s every parent’s personal choice, there isn’t any ideal time really. As a mother, you might have different concerns. I’ve addressed the most common ones below.

I’m Worried about My Baby Catching A Chance Of Infection!

Babies can catch a risk of infection when piercing their ears, as there’s a wound left open. Which becomes an entry point for the bacteria. Here’s what you can do.

    • Wait until your baby gets a jab of the tetanus vaccine, a vaccine that strengthens your baby’s immune system.
    • Wait until your baby’s immune system is fully developed – when they turn 7-8 years old.
    • If you want to pierce your baby’s ears before they are 7-8 years old and still be assured that there are fewer chances for them to catch an infection, wait until your baby turns six months of age.

I Wonder If My Baby Would like to Get an Ear Piercing!

In that case, skip the piercing ritual, and let the baby decide when they grow up.

Can I Pierce My Baby’s Ears as per My Cultural Norm?

You can go for piercing when your culture recommends you to. For instance, Indians prefer piercing their baby’s ears on the 12th or 13th day after the baby’s birth.

If you have no external obligations, including cultural or family pressure, at least wait until your baby turns three months old.

What If My Baby Won’t Be Able to Deal with an Ear Piercing?

In that case, AAP recommends mothers pierce their kid’s ears when they are between 5 to 12 years of age.

By that time, your baby can care for the piercing themselves. For instance, keeping their pierced ears clean until they heal.

Pediatricians recommend waiting at least 2-3 months before getting your baby’s ear pierced. I’d say, the earlier you pierce your baby’s ears, the better. This is because the piercing process will be less painful, and your baby won’t recall the pain as they grow up.

Ensure this before Piercing Your Baby’s Ears

    • To get the piercing job done, a nurse, doctor, pediatrician, or technician should be your first preference.
    • But if you want to visit a parlor or jewelry store, ensure the hygiene is checked and all the piercing instruments they use are sterile.
    • Get both of your baby’s ears pierced simultaneously, so the baby won’t have to anticipate the fear of getting pierced twice.

Best Places to Get Your Baby’s Ears Pierced

    Your Pediatrician Clinic

Your pediatrician’s clinic or office will serve as a safe, sterile, and expert-supervised environment for your baby. A nurse or a medical professional might perform the ear-piercing process.

    Your Choice of Jewelry Store

These stores can charge a minimal fee for ear piercing or offer piercing services for free or at a discounted rate in exchange for a jewelry purchase.

They have a staff person trained in baby piercing, so you need not worry about your baby being in the wrong hands. Only ensure whatever piercing tools they use are sterile.

    A Piercing Parlors

These parlors maintain hygiene and have trained people to handle baby piercing needs.  Choose a parlor that has good reviews on the internet. You can also visit the parlor and take their services before trying them out on your baby.

A Quick Walkthrough of Getting Your Baby’s Ear Pierced

Though the process may vary a little depending on where you choose to get your infant ear piercing done, the following steps remain constant.

Step 1: The doctor will apply the numbing gel to your kid’s ears. They might use a clean cotton bud to keep the gel application process less messy.

Step 2: After the baby’s ears are numb, around 10 to 15 minutes after the gel application, the doctor will clean the outer parts of the ears with an alcohol swab. It will keep the baby’s earlobes clean and germ-free.

Step 3: Next, using a marker, the doctor will create a spot where they will pierce a hole. Mothers, ensure that the tag is exactly where you want your baby’s ears pierced.

Step 4: Finally, the doctor will pierce the hole in the baby’s ears using a sharp, disposable piercing needle.

Some places use a reusable, spring-loaded piercing gun to puncture the baby’s earlobe and insert a sterile stud. If you visit a salon, you are more likely to find these.

Tips for Minimizing Pain during Ear Piercing

Getting your baby’s ears pierced is an important milestone for both babies and mothers.

Every mother wishes to treasure this event as a painless, beautiful memory. But your baby might feel a tiny pinch in its ears when pierced. Sometimes, there will be pain.

Stick to the following hacks to reduce your baby’s discomfort during the piercing process.

    The Timing Matters!

Suppose you take your baby for piercing when they are starving, fuzzy, irritated, or haven’t slept well. In that case, your baby will not coordinate with the piercing process.

In contrast, your baby will be easier to manage if they are well-fed and in a happy and playful mood. Also, the doctor can do the piercing quickly and stress-free.

    Diverting Your Baby’s Attention

While the doctor takes care of the piercing, divert your baby with fun games. Or let them watch an engaging video on the phone on the TV.

I remember making funny faces at my baby to lighten up her mood! The plan is to keep your baby occupied, so they are not much alert when their ear piercing is done.

    Hold Your Baby Correctly

When the infant ear piercing happens, ensure that you firmly hold your baby’s head. Your doctor should guide you through the proper holding techniques.

Your baby should not move their head around much, and the piercing procedure should end smoothly.

Finally, if your baby is afraid of starts crying after their ears are pierced, put a pacifier in their mouth. Next, try calming them with a sweet treat, breast milk, chocolate, or any food item to make them happy.

Aftercare Instructions or Tips for Baby’s Ear Piercing

    • If your baby develops a fever after baby ear piercing, visit a doctor immediately.
    • Wash your hands clean with soap and water before you touch your baby’s piercing. That said, do not touch them often.
    • For three to five weeks after piercing, gently clean the pierced area with a cotton swab and rubbing alcohol. This will prevent the area from trapping any germs and causing skin issues or infections.
    • Ensure you keep your baby’s studs and earrings in place (don’t over-tighten or loosen them) while you clean the pierced area. Else, you would cause discomfort to your baby.
    • If your baby’s ears feel warm 24 hours after piercing, it might be a sign of infection. Visit a doctor’s office in that case.

I hope this guide has answered your baby’s ear-piercing questions. Not to forget, after the baby gets the ear piercing, capture a photograph of both mama and baby wearing their beautiful diamond earrings and a broad smile.

    Single Needle vs.

    Piercing Gun

For infants and children, our professional female ear piercers use a surgical hollow needle rather than a piercing gun. We’ve found that piercing with a needle has proven to be less traumatic to the flesh and reduces the chance of infection. A piercing gun uses pressure to push the earring through, which may cause damage to the tissue. By contrast, a single-use needle essentially punctures right through the tissue to create the ear piercing. Also, in our experience, many customers who have had piercings with a single-use needle technique and with a piercing gun have said that the single-use method is comparatively less painful. Another major difference between a single-use needle and a piercing gun is the fact that just the appearance of a piercing gun can be very intimidating to young children. Professional handling of a single-use needle can make all the difference in a child’s perception of a needle vs. a large device that may add an extra layer of anxiety to the experience.

During your complimentary consultation, we can talk more with you about this technique and address any questions or concerns you may have.

How Is Ear Piercing Performed for Babies & Children?

“We went in for a piercing for our baby daughter, she is 6 months. I’m not going to lie, I was nervous at first, but the piercer made us all feel very comfortable with the whole experience. he was very friendly and professional, and he took his time. I definitely recommend his service to any other parents out there looking for a safe piercing experience.”

For infants, it is required that the child is a minimum of three-months-old before their first ear piercing. It is also recommended that they have had their first tetanus shot—this is usually performed during their first round of shots by their pediatrician at two-months-old.

Our skilled and experienced piercer will perform the procedure with freshly washed hands. The area being pierced will also be adequately cleaned with an anti-bacterial agent. The sterile, single-use needle will then be delicately, precisely, and quickly inserted into the tissue. This typically feels like a moderate to severe pinch, but the sensation usually does not last long. Our ear piercer will then talk with you and your child about proper care for the newly pierced ears and answer any additional questions.

Infant & Child Ear Piercing Aftercare

Adhering to aftercare instructions during the time period immediately following your child’s ear piercing and the days ahead is very important. You can learn more about how to ensure your child’s ears heal properly by viewing our Piercing Aftercare page; our shop will also provide you with a detailed guideline to take home with you. It is important to be able to recognize any signs of infection that may be present after your child’s ear piercing. Symptoms of infection may include pain, swelling and/or redness in the area surrounding the ear piercing, itching, and drainage. If these symptoms are present for several days or weeks following the ear piercing procedure, please contact us and/or your primary care physician.

SD Tattoo and Body Piercing is dedicated to following strict protocols for safety and sterilization. We also firmly believe in providing you with the educational tools necessary to decrease the possibility of any complications after the ear piercing procedure. If you have questions regarding our safety standards or what to expect during the ear piercing procedure or the healing process, please don’t hesitate to reach out to us today.

How Much Does Infant & Child Ear Piercing Cost?

Ear piercing for infants and children, starting at 3 months-old, costs $99.99 for both ears, or $49.99 for a single lobe piercing. This price does not include jewelry, jewelry prices range, starting at $29.99, depending on the type of metal selected available for purchase. We have a selection of stainless steal, titanium, and gold jewelry available for your infant or child’s ear piercing.

Please contact us with any questions you may have reguarding the process, aftercare, or to confirm what hours our piercer’s is available.

The minimum age for earlobe piercing is 4 months when the primary vaccination is given. Despite this, piercing for a child is associated with many risks. Ksenia Katz, a dermatologist at the Fantasy Children’s Clinic, told Gazeta.Ru about this.

“A simple earlobe piercing can threaten the child with infection of the piercing site and an allergic reaction to the material of the jewelry. The fact is that infectious processes develop very quickly in children, in addition, if the child is small, the earring can dig into the earlobe, causing pain and inflammation. Parents may not immediately notice that it fits too tightly to the ear, and the child, due to age, will not be able to complain about pain and discomfort, ”explained the expert.

Also, in children, unlike adults, the rupture of the lobe in the puncture area is much more likely due to activity or unconscious touches to the ears. Children are also threatened with allergic reactions to the material of jewelry – surgical steel, nickel and titanium. For this reason, it is worth choosing earrings made of precious metals.

“If parents still decide to have their child’s ears pierced, it should be done only by qualified specialists. Among other things, it is best to pierce a child at a reasonable age – when he can take care of the puncture on his own and understands what he is doing, ”stated the dermatologist.

The need for a “conscious age” for piercing in children was also confirmed by Marina Ionycheva, a certified psychologist and Gestalt therapist.

According to her, from the point of view of psychology, modification of a child’s body without his consent is a gross violation of his boundaries.

“Even if you ask a three-year-old if she wants to get her ear pierced and she answers positively, can the child’s decision be considered conscious? Moreover, a child may need ear piercings just because they want to imitate a significant adult. For example, a mother who has beautiful earrings. But the child just likes that something “dangles” and shines on the mother’s ear. Maybe it’s better to try clips at a younger age,” psychologist Ionycheva recommended.

The Gestalt therapist also noted that adults need to understand who needs a piercing in a child and why. If the child and his conscious desire do not appear in the answers to these questions, it is better to abandon the idea.

    How professionals do piercing

At what age can one get pierced? – this is a very common question, both among young people and among their parents. The very first piercing (ear piercing or “Lobe Piercing”) is done for girls aged 1.5-3 years or more. It is performed with one puncture in each lobe. Other types of piercings, only piercings of the ears, nose and eyebrows within reason, can be done to children after 12 years of age with the consent and support of their parents. After reaching the age of 18, you can do other, more complex types of piercing.

Only with a parent and in the right place

Underage piercings are done in the presence of one of the parents. The child and his parents should have a clear understanding and understanding of this procedure. A piercing is a relatively deep wound, in which there is an ornament made of a suitable material and shape. In addition to the fact that the puncture must be made correctly, in favorable conditions for this and with sterile materials, it also needs to be properly healed.

Do not skimp on the service of a piercer

Also, you should understand that due to an active lifestyle or the study of certain professions, not all types of piercings may be recommended for you. For example, eyebrow piercings should not be done if you are into martial arts, or tongue piercings if you are studying vocals.

Do not get pierced by yourself or with the help of friends. Save a lot on the material of jewelry. Make punctures in improper conditions for this. Violate hygiene in the puncture area. It is easier and safer to do this with a specialist who does this every day.

If you have discussed everything well with your parents and decided to get pierced, you should make an appointment with your master in advance. If the child has diseases associated with the immune system, disorders of the nervous system or blood clotting, there are frequent skin problems (in the form of a rash, etc.), as well as an allergy to anesthetics, then this should be reported to your master in advance.

Some recommendations before visiting a piercing studio:

    • If the client (client) – a child has diseases associated with immunity, disorders of the nervous system or blood clotting, there are frequent skin problems (in the form of a rash, etc. ), as well as an identified allergy to anesthetic drugs, then this should be reported to your master
    • in advance

    • If you have a fever or feel unwell, also tell your doctor and cancel the appointment until you are fully recovered
    • Before your procedure, check your first aid kit for piercing care products and preparations. If you do not know what is needed for this, ask your master. If something is missing, get
    • Eat 1-3 hours before visiting
    • It is necessary to prepare (wash and clean) the place with the alleged puncture in advance
    • If it’s an ear piercing (bring your hair bands or headband), tie your hair into a bun
    • Wear reasonably loose and clean clothing. At the very least, it should be free in the place where the piercing will be done.

    Piercing procedure

The piercing does not last long, about 1-3 seconds and more to put the jewelry. But you also need to prepare everything for making a puncture:

    • Prepare equipment
    • Select and sterilize or disinfect jewelry
    • Carefully prepare and mark the anatomy of the puncture site
    • Puncture and place jewelry
    • Process everything well again
    • If the location of the piercing allows, then a self-fixing antibacterial bandage can be placed over it.

This usually takes 15 to 30 minutes. If the puncture is performed under local anesthesia (cream or gel is used), this is at least another + 25-30 minutes. Then the whole procedure will take from 40 to 60 minutes with one puncture.

    Further care and advice

Before the age of 18 and sometimes more, the healing process must be monitored. This should be done under the supervision of parents or other responsible persons.

Remember that no matter how good a child is, he is not always able to keep the puncture clean or properly treat the puncture site. Therefore, at first, parents will have to help him in this and control this process.

Bedding should be clean, clean and loose cotton clothing should be worn (especially if it comes into contact with a recent piercing). Follow the requirements and recommendations for healing and further actions. This can take from 2 weeks to one year (it all depends on the type and complexity of the piercing).

If the healing process is not very fast, or if there are any difficulties or discomfort, it is better to contact your specialist piercer immediately. You may need to: thoroughly wash and treat the puncture site, prescribe another treatment, and / or replace the jewelry with a jewelry of a different shape, size or material.

    How professionals do piercing

Professional piercing is done only with the help of disposable, special hollow needles of different lengths and diameters. Works are carried out in appropriate conditions (specially equipped office). Sterile materials (needles, clamps, etc.), special antiseptics are used. After puncture, the clamps are processed according to the requirements of “sanitary epidemiological supervision” (soaking and ultrasonic cleaning, washing, drying, sterilization in an autoclave or in a dry-heat cabinet and proper storage in a separate place in sealed special bags). Needles are always disposable for each puncture and are disposed of afterwards.

I first read a novel by the English playwright John Galsworthy a very long time ago, more than 25 years ago, and since then this book has become one of those that I periodically reread. The author introduces us to the Forsyte family, with a large family, it is rather difficult to single out the main character, many pages are devoted to each. The book has everything – a wonderfully conveyed atmosphere of the era, […]

Alexandra Bushlya, a reader of Library No. 15, tells about her great-grandmother. I was 11 years old when the war started. She lived in the village of Runovka, Primorsky Krai. Everyone: both adults and children understood that in order to bring victory closer, a lot of work is needed, people worked from morning until late at night. Women and teenagers […]

Montgomery, seriously considered the option of capturing Berlin, Vienna and Prague by the Western allies before the Soviet armies. German resistance […]

Ksenia Velichkina, a reader of Library No. 16, talks about her great-grandfather as part of the “Soldier of her family” campaign. “War” is a terrible word. Hundreds of thousands of people gave their lives for the sake of their Motherland, for the future of their compatriots. I would like to tell you about my great-grandfather, Ivan Petrovich Voronov (04/14/1914 – 10/10/1978). He was called to the war by Primorsky […]

How often do we have to return to the world in childhood and face our fears? What special memories does our memory hold? It is with the return to childhood of the nameless hero that Neil Gaiman’s novel “The Ocean at the End of the Road” begins.
