Educare Preschool
Fabulous preschool!
I had had a terrible experience at the Growing Room and was quite skeptical with preschools in general but my twins are SO happy here! Total transformation. They learn, play and love. In the old place they were cranky and miserable when I was picking them up and they could notwait to get out of there. Here it’s the opposite! They are beaming with joy, adorable and yesterday my daughter did not even want to go back home with me! It had never happened before. I was shocked… quite happily shocked. This is a great sign. The best one I would say. I highly recommend this place for its loving and highly trained staff as well as great educating material (i.e. science center, etc.)….

Description:
Little Preppers: This program is designed for children ages 3-4 years old. It is developmentally appropriate and prepares students who will be entering VPK.
Voluntary Pre-Kindergarten: This program preparesyoungsters who are 4 years old on or before September 1st. Our program follows the Florida Early Learning and Developmental Standards for the Four Years old, which prepares them with all the tools they will need for a successful Kindergarten year!
Our Curriculum: Learning Through Play
Play is viewed as the work of childhood. Children learn best about the world around them through exploration with intentional play opportunities. This is why we chose the Creative Curriculum .
The Creative Curriculum is designed to meet the basic needs of the children in the program. It establishes standards of learning for each age and developmentally specific class. Our teachers work with each child at their own pace to achieve these learning goals through studies, which are hands-on, project-based investigations.
The Creative Curriculum for Preschool helps teachers build children’s confidence, creativity and critical thinking skills, and promote positive outcomes.
Hands-On Learning
At Kidz World of Learning, we believe children learn best and gain more knowledge by doing and being involved in the learning process rather than listening. This is accomplished through implementation of hands-on learning activities in the classrooms that are fun, engaging and age-appropriate! Your child will experience this with us and more! Our lesson plans are made for specific age groups and designed meticulously to cover all areas of development. Your child is guaranteed to be ready for the next school year. Fabulous preschool!
I had had a terrible experience at the Growing Room and was quite skeptical with preschools in general but my twins are SO happy here! Total transformation. They learn, play and love. In theold place they were cranky and miserable when I was picking them up and they could not wait to get out of there. Here it’s the opposite! They are beaming with joy, adorable and yesterday my daughter did not even want to go back home with me! It had never happened before. I was shocked… quite happily shocked. This is a great sign. The best one I would say. I highly recommend this place for its loving and highly trained staff as well as great educating material (i. e. science center, etc.)….

“Little” star: ex-lead singer of “Little Big” spoke about bullying at school

June 21 Olympia Ivleva turns 30 years old. Despite her young age, “Little Miss Happiness” has acquired an army of fans that the most venerable artists not only in Russia, but also in the world will envy. Olympia’s height is only 130 centimeters, but this does not prevent her from being a rather sought-after singer, actress and model. By the way, Ivleva’s photographs are often quite provocative and are distinguished by an abundance of nudity.
Photo: instagram.com
What is the phenomenon of Olympia? As Ivleva’s former colleague Anna Kast (whose height is also 130 cm) told MK, Olympia has an amazing charisma that literally captivates the audience.
– I met Olimpia in one of the social networks for “small” people, – Anna began. I liked her, she’s a cool girl. And then Alina Pyazok (the creator of the clips for “LB”) invited me to take part in the “Little Big” group, but I – Olympia. She agreed.
Oddly enough, Olympia’s outward openness on stage, in clips and in photos does not at all coincide with her behavior in real life. The girl rarely talks about her personal life and career. What or who inspired Olympia to perform such provocative performances?
“MK” managed to find out: Ivleva received a serious psychological education in the ISPiP them. Raoul Wallenberg. As the artist admitted to friends, at school she had to endure bullying, bullying from high school students. Apparently, the diploma of a psychologist partly helped Ivleva to cope with childhood traumas. To this day, Lipa’s appearance (as friends call the artist) causes an ambiguous reaction not only among children, but also among adults, but today the artist has already learned how to correctly respond to offenders.
Breaking stereotypes, Olympia decided to make herself known as brightly as possible. Since 2013, Ivleva began to run her YouTube channel, which is very successful. The girl was helped to consolidate her popularity by working as a vocalist in the St. Petersburg group Little Big.
The phenomenon of “LB” popularity, according to many netizens, mostly belongs to two little girls: Anna Kast, Olympia Ivleva. It was they who were the first Russian artists, who did not look like ordinary singers, who shocked the audience in the video “Every day I’m drinking”.
As Kast admitted, they themselves did not expect such a wild success – a million views of the clip “Every day I’m drinking” on YouTube, and this is in 2013!
– We woke up in the morning after the release of the video, and we have a million views in a day! Kast shared. — How did it happen? I still can’t explain. I sang with difficulty, I studied German at school, and here, damn it, the song is in English! She wrote English words in Russian letters on a piece of paper. At first, we were not completely understood in Russia, but in European countries, especially in Germany, even parents with small children and elderly Germans came to our concerts.
Despite their success, Kast soon left the band. According to rumors, there were serious misunderstandings between Kast and Ivleva.
– Before the next concert, Olympia put Ilya Prusikin (the founder of the group) before a choice: either she or me, – Kast continues, – I can’t explain her behavior, in the end they chose Olympia, she stayed. And besides, I had a stable, serious job at school, my performances in the group interfered a little – several parents began to express dissatisfaction, like “how can a teacher do this.” Oddly enough, I don’t have any negative feelings towards Olympia and never have. True, today we do not communicate, but pleasant memories of her remained.
On the wave of success, in 2018 Ivleva also leaves the group, instead of her, the vocal Sofya Tayurskaya began to appear in the videos.
In social networks, Olympia calls herself a mini-woman and an actress, the girl managed to star in the film “Lily”. The comedy-drama was met with mixed reviews by the public, although the film was still a relative success.
The main character of the film is a girl named Lily, who works in a circus-tent of the Lilliputians. The first love comes to the rather difficult life of the “little artist”, the simple guy Lenya falls in love with an unusual circus performer. But for their happiness, the guy and the girl will face a serious struggle with society and the system as a whole.

June 22 is one of the most tragic dates in our history. On this day, 82 years ago, the Great Patriotic War began – the most bloody and cruel in the history of Russia and mankind. There is no family that she would not scorch with her deadly fire.
Today we bow our heads in memory of those who died on the battlefields, in fascist concentration camps, we thank the home front workers who brought victory closer with their selfless work. We look up to our veterans, to those ideals of love and kindness that helped them survive and defeat fascism.
Low bow and eternal memory to all who went through the harsh years of the Great Patriotic War, who won freedom at the cost of their own lives! Eternal glory to the heroes and winners!

FAQs
AMERICA’S MOST ACCREDITED
We’re so proud!
Nationally only 10% of daycares are accredited – nearly 100% of our learning centers are. That’s a big difference,
and that means KinderCare kids are getting the very best. Here’s why.
SCHOOL-READY
What Learning Looks Like
Our talented early-childhood teachers set kids down the path toward becoming lifelong learners in a positive, safe, and nurturing environment.
Hanover KinderCare Programs
Infant Programs (6 weeks-1 year)
Leaving your baby in someone else’s care is a big step. Everyone at our
centers—most importantly, our naturally gifted infant teachers—will work with
you to make sure the transition goes smoothly. When you step into our infant
classroom, you’ll see how much we want your infant to feel safe, loved, and
ready to explore their world.
Toddler Programs (1-2 Years)
Everything in our toddler classroom is designed for little explorers. That’s
because a lot is going on at this age. When your child is wandering all over the
place, that means they’re learning and discovering new things every day. We’ll
help them explore their interests (and find new ones!) as they play and learn.
Discovery Preschool Programs (2-3 Years)
This age is filled with so much wonder and curiosity. That’s why we offer a ton
of books and toys and bring artwork down to kids eye level. Children in
discovery preschool also begin to learn how we all work together in a
classroom. Simple math and science, pretend play, and group play help them
get used to a more structured school setting.
Preschool Programs (3-4 Years)
This age is all about expression, when kids really start to form their own ideas
about what they want to play and how they want to create. Every day in our
preschool classroom, your child will explore science experiments, create
artwork, and play pretend—all the skills needed for their big next step:
kindergarten!
Prekindergarten Programs (4-5 Years)
When you walk into one of our pre-K classrooms, you’ll see artwork and
writing displayed around the room. Labels are everywhere to help kids connect
letters with words. You’ll also see pictures on the walls that reflect the families
in our community. Your child will also deepen their knowledge in language,
math, science, Spanish, and social skills.
Before- and After-School Programs (5-12 Years)
You can count on us to provide reliable care for your school-ager while you’re
at work, with safe transportation from our center to your child’s school and
back! Whether your child wants to start a drama club, build a volcano, or
create a comic book, they will have a place to follow their dreams. Your child
will start and end the day with a whole lot of fun!
School Break Programs (preschool, prekindergarten, and school-age)
Winter break, spring break, summer break—when school’s out (but you still need to work), you
can count on KinderCare to provide a safe and supportive learning environment that’s focused
on fun. We welcome children ages 5-12 during school break times and make sure they have a
sensational, screen-free experience they won’t forget.
Participating Child Care Aware Center
KinderCare partners with Child Care Aware® of America to offer fee assistance for
Active Duty military families and flexible support to fit their needs when care at a Child

Learning Adventures – Enrichment Program
Cooking Academy™ (3-12 Years)
In Cooking Academy, kids learn new recipes from cultures around the world and
develop a healthy relationship with food. They’ll whip up everything from Southwest
rainbow lettuce wraps to pumpkin muffins, building their skills in STEM, communication,
and more along the way. And yes—little chefs get to eat their culinary creations!
Music Explorers™ (2-4 Years)
KinderCare families are already giving a standing ovation to our newest Learning
Adventures program: Music Explorers! Kids will learn to sing, move, listen, play
instruments, and even create their own tunes. Our original curriculum blends math,
science, social studies, literacy, and mindfulness (think yoga!) for a uniquely KinderCare
way of learning the foundations of music.
Phonics Adventures® (2-4 Years)
Learning how to read is a whole lot of fun at KinderCare! We help kids grow to love
books and words (and get ready for kindergarten) in our Phonics Adventures program.
From discovering the basics of vowels to practicing poetry, kids learn all about letters
and sounds in small-group lessons made just for their age group. (Bonus: Kids who
attend our phonics program are more prepared than their peers for school—and we
have the data to prove it.)
STEM Innovators (3-8 Years)
You’ve probably heard a lot about how important STEM education is for your child, but
what does that really mean? Our STEM Innovators program takes kids’ natural ability to
make sense of the world and applies it to robotics, chemistry, coding, geology, and
more. While your child experiments, they’ll discover how to use technology to do
amazing things!
Craft Adventures
Our Teachers
We’re the only company in early childhood education to select teachers based on natural talent. Being a great educator isn’t enough though.
KinderCare teachers are also amazing listeners, nurturers, boo-boo fixers, and smile-makers. Put more simply,
we love our teachers and your child will, too.
Meet just a few of our amazing KinderCare teachers!
A KINDERCARE TEACHER WITH
An Artist’s Heart
“My classroom is full of art!” says Mary Annthipie-Bane, an award-winning early childhood educator at KinderCare. Art and creative expression, she says, help children discover who they really are.
We put our best-in-class teachers in a best-in-class workplace. We’re so proud to have been named one of Gallup’s 37 winners of the Great Workplace Award.
When you put great teachers in an engaging center, your children will experience
an amazing place to learn and grow.
Family Stories
Don’t take our word for it. Hear what our families have to say about our amazing center!
My son attended KinderCare for two years before heading off to Kindergarten. While he was here, my son was loved and cared for by the teachers in the center. The staff was patient with him and he developed close relationships with them and he enjoyed playing with his friends. He would even get upset when it was time for me to pick him up, which let me know that he was happy at KinderCare.
Trinity G. – KinderCare Parent
My son has been at KinderCare since he was two years old. He loves his “KinderCare school,” as he calls it. He will be going to Kindergarten this upcoming school year and he is more then ready thanks to the teachers at KinderCare. He is very happy that he will be attending the after school program at KinderCare. I just want to thank the teachers at KinderCare for leading him in the right direction and for getting him ready for big boy school.

As in any locality, kindergartens in Elista are divided into public and private preschool institutions.
In the post-perestroika period, many gardens were closed, and the birth rate in the country has increased in the last few years. As a result, there is a shortage of kindergartens. Therefore, some parents are forced to turn to private organizations, or hire nannies and governesses.
For middle-income parents, public kindergarten is the best option. On weekdays, the child is under the supervision of caregivers, fed, communicates with other children, mastering the skills of behavior in society, walks in the fresh air 1-2 times a day, gets the opportunity to develop through games and creative activities.
Private daycares and nannies are more expensive financially, but often provide more individualized care for children. First of all, this is true for children who need special care, but they are not subject to treatment and stay in specialized medical institutions (for example, it is extremely difficult for children with allergies to many products to provide proper care in a regular kindergarten).
In Kindergartens, children aged 3 to 7 can play, learn and socialize in a group environment under the guidance of experienced teachers. Kindergartens are an important part of the education and care system for children in many countries.
In kindergartens, children can engage in various activities such as games, creative activities, reading, music, exercise and others. These activities help children develop their mental, physical and social skills and prepare them for school.
Experienced teachers and kindergarten teachers usually have special training in child psychology, child development and education. They create a favorable and safe environment for children, where they can feel comfortable and develop in accordance with their needs and interests.
Kindergartens may be public or private, and fees may vary depending on location, hours of operation, services, and other factors. In some countries, there are government programs that provide free or subsidized kindergarten places for low-income families.
Kindergartens are important for the development of children and their preparation for future learning.

US cities.
State of Massachusetts. Part 2
Hello dear. Let’s continue the conversation with you about Massachusetts, started earlier So, 4 suburbs of Greater Boston The first, and perhaps the most famous one, is Cambridge (Cambridge) Middlesex County.
Separated by the Charles River from Boston. The city is world famous for two educational and research centers, perhaps the best in the world: Harvard University and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Harvard University is one of the most famous universities in the United States and around the world, the oldest university in the United States.
Harvard University ranks first in the country for the number of billionaires among alumni, and its library is the largest academic library in the United States and the third largest in the country. Harvard is part of a group of elite American universities – the Ivy League. The university has the largest endowment in the world, which is $37. 1 billion.
75 Nobel laureates have been associated with the university as students, faculty or staff. The university has graduated from 8 US presidents.
Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) (Massachusetts Institute of Technology, MIT). One of the most prestigious technical schools in the US and the world. Also known as the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
MIT is a world leader in prestigious university rankings, an innovator in the fields of robotics and artificial intelligence, and its educational engineering programs, programs in information technology, economics, physics, chemistry and mathematics. The institute is also renowned in many other fields including management, economics, linguistics, political science, philosophy and music.
81 members of the MIT community are Nobel laureates, a record number.
In addition to 2 wonderful universities, the city has Peabody Museum of Archeology and Ethnology
Harvard Museum of Natural History
I think everyone has heard about the second suburb of Boston. Salem or Salem (Salem) in Essex County this is exactly the city It was here that the famous events took place in 1692-1693.
The local Puritans and the head of the city declared a witch hunt, it lasted about a year and a half. “The Witches of Salem” became a household name.
The town-born writer Nathaniel Hawthorne narrates about the manners of the Salem people of that time in his novel The Scarlet Letter (1850).
Now it is a tourist center. There is still the House of Seven Fronts, immortalized in the book of Hawthorne.
There is a Hawthorne Museum in the house where he was born (built around 1740). Two houses, Hawks and Derby, are part of the Salem Marine National Historic Site. Several others are part of the Peabody Essex Museum’s exclusive complex.
Salem State College is the largest public college in the state. But the famous Salem cigarettes are not named after this city 🙂 There is another place in North Carolina.
Waltham (Waltham) is a western industrial suburb of Boston.
The city is home to the headquarters of Raytheon, one of the largest companies in the US military-industrial complex, Morgan Kaufmann Publishers, robot manufacturer Boston Dynamics, and telecommunications software developer NetCracker.
Also located in the city are light industry enterprises producing watches, scientific instruments, electronic and measuring equipment. More Energy National Grid
The city is home to two institutions of higher learning, Brandeis University and Bentley University.
And the last of the suburbs I have highlighted is Braintree (Braintree) in Norfolk County
Braintree is home to several prominent figures in American history: Abigail Adams , Statesman John Hancock and General Sylvan Thayer , one of the original superintendents of the US Military Academy located at West Point. Also born and living here Mark Wahlberg
In 1920, the murders took place in Braintree, which led to the trial of Sacco and Vanzetti. A lot of films have been filmed and filmed in this suburb of Boston. For example ; Tell Me You Love Me, directed by Otto Preminger, The Departed, directed by Martin Scorsese and many more.
If you leave Boston, then the most famous city in the state is Plymouth (Plymouth) – in the Plymouth district of the same name. Along with Brockton, it is one of two county seat. Plymouth’s municipality area is the largest in the state.
Founded in 1620 on the shores of Cape Cod, the city is the oldest European settlement in New England and one of the oldest in the United States. For a long time the city was the center of the colony of the same name. Plymouth is twinned with the eponymous city in England, after which it received its name
Tourism is the backbone of the city’s economy. There are many museums, including open-air ones. The latter include the famous project Plymouth Plantation (Plymouth Plantation) – a historical and ethnographic complex that includes, in addition to the stationary exhibition, two recreated settlements: the settlement of the colonists of the 17th century and the settlement of the Indians of the same times. Instead of guides, these open-air museums are staffed by people dressed according to the fashion of the time. They kind of make up the population of the villages. Being engaged in “everyday affairs”, which formed the basis of the life of the Indians or colonists, they are ready to answer any questions from tourists.
As part of the same project, since 1957, tourists have been given access to a full-size replica of the Mayflower – Mayflower II, on which the first colonists arrived. The ship is moored in Plymouth Bay.
Plymouth Rock is also a traditional landmark. According to legend, it is the part of the land where the first settlers first set foot.
Not far from Plymouth Rock is a monument to the first settlers, referred to as the National Monument to the Founding Fathers.
The second largest city in the state is Worcester (Worcester) in Worcester County. The city is named after the English Worcester.
David Clark Company, Inc., The Hanover Insurance Group, Inc. is headquartered here. As well as the beverage industry Polar Beverages
The University of Massachusetts School of Medicine is located here.
Notable natives composer John Adams
Regular Springfield (Springfield) – where without it in the USA :-)) But this is perhaps the most-most famous. The county seat of Hampden County.
It is the third most populated city in the state and fourth in New England. Why is this the most famous of Springfields? And everything is simple – in 1891, a local school teacher of physical education, James Naismith, came up with a game for students, which later became one of the most popular sports in the world – basketball.
In 1959 the Basketball Hall of Fame was opened in the city.
Smith & Wesson and Big Y are also headquartered in the city. Springfield is also home to Forest Park, one of the nation’s largest municipal parks.
Holyoke (Holyoke) is located in Hampden County, between the Tom Mountain Range and the west bank of the Connecticut River.
The city was named after Elizur Holyoak, who explored the area in the 17th century. City has the highest percentage of Puerto Ricans in the US (outside of Puerto Rico)
Holyoke is one of the first planned industrial cities in the United States. Built in tandem with the Holyoke Dam to utilize Hadley Falls’ hydropower, it is one of the few New England cities to have been built on a grid plan. In the late 19th century, the city produced about 80% of the writing paper used in the United States and was home to the largest paper mill architectural office in the country, as well as the world’s largest paper, silk, and alpaca wool mills. Although there are significantly fewer businesses in Holyoke today in the paper industry, the city is still referred to as “Paper City”.
While operating the Holyoke test artificial canal in the 1880s, hydraulic engineer Clemens Herschel invented the venturi meter to determine the use of water by individual mills in the Holyoke canal system.
Today, the city is home to a number of specialty manufacturing companies, as well as the Massachusetts Green High Performance Computing Center, an intercollegiate research center that opened in 2012.
But that’s not the point. Holyoke is home to the Volleyball Hall of Fame and is known as the “Birthplace of Volleyball” because the international Olympic sport was invented by William G. Morgan and first played here in 1895.
Lowell (Lowell) – a city in Middlesex County
Once one of the largest industrial centers in the US in light industry The headquarters of Wang Laboratories is located here
And of course the Lowell Memorial Boxing Hall
Notable residents and natives of include Jack Kerouac , engineer Roger Beaujoli , who was one of the first to warn of the possible disaster of the shuttle Challenger, professional boxer Mickey Ward and marine painter Walter Dean 900 70 .
New Bedford (New Bedford) in Bristol County. Port on the shore of Buzzards Bay.
The J. & W. R. Wing Company, the largest whaling company in the United States, was headquartered in the city.
Herman Melville published his novel Moby Dick, or the White Whale, which begins in New Bedford.
Brockton (Brockton) – a city in Plymouth County
The city is sometimes called the “City of Champions”, mainly due to the success of boxers Rocky Marciano and Marvin Hagler, for whom this city is native, as well as the famous Brockton University (Brockton High School).
Former leader in footwear and leather industry in the country.
Quincy (Quincy) – located in Quincy Bay, Norfolk County.
Since two US presidents – John Adams and his son John Quincy Adams – were from here, the city is jokingly called the City of Presidents or the Homeland of the American Dream
It was founded before Boston in 1625 and named after Colonel John Quincy grandfather Abigail Adams, wife of John Adams
9000 6 Fall River (Fall River) in Bristol County. Located along the east coast of Narragansett Bay at the mouth of the Taunton River.
In the 19th century, the city became known as the main center of the US textile industry. Although the situation in this area has changed since then, the reflection of this fact can still be found in the culture of the city and its appearance. The battleship Massachusetts (BB-59), which has been turned into a museum ship, is permanently moored in the bay of the city.
Newton (Newton) is a city in the Middlesex County of Massachusetts in the northeastern United States, located 12 km from Boston.
The headquarters of TripAdvisor is located here
The asteroid (662) Newtonia, discovered on March 30, 1908 by the American astronomer Joel Metcalfe at the Taunton Observatory, is named after Newton
Lawrence (Lawrence) city on the Merrimack River, Essex County
The textile, clothing, leather and footwear, radio-electronic, rubber, paper, military industries are developed in the city, and the production of equipment for the textile and footwear industries has been established.
This is the headquarters of New Balance
Other notable Massachusetts natives include 35th President of the United States John F. Kennedy and his brother, 64th Attorney General (Attorney General) Robert F. Kennedy born in Brook Brookline, Norfolk County
My Favorite Artist Norman Rockwell – Stockbridge
Wrestler and Actor John Cena – West Newbury, Essex County
And many, many more. Have a nice day.

History
Early history
Medford was founded in 1630 as part of the city of Charlestown. The city got its first name “Mystic” from Thomas Dudley, but was later renamed “Midford” [1] . In 1634, the land north of the Mystic River became the private property of former Governor Matthew Cradock, while the land on the other side became the property of John Winthrop, Governor of the Massachusetts Bay Colony [2] . There are several variants of the name of the city: it can consist of the words “meadow” and “ford” (eng. meadow and ford) or comes from the name of the two villages of Myford or Metford in Staffordshire [3] .
In 1637 the first bridge was built across the Mystic River, where Cradock Bridge now stands [4] . It was the only bridge across the Mystic until 1787 and was one of the main routes to Boston (although ferries and crossings were also used) [5] . The bridge was rebuilt in 1880 and 1909 [4] .
Until 1656, all northern lands of Medford belonged to Cradock, his heirs, or Edward Collins. As the land was divided among people from different families, the new owners began to meet and make decisions locally, more independently of Charlestown. In 1674 a City Council was elected, and in 1689 representatives to the legislature were elected. The city got its own religious boardroom in 1690 year and the house of social meetings in 1696 [5] .
Modern Times
The land south of the Mystic River was known as the “Mystic Fields”. They were given by Charlestown to Medford in 1754 [6] . Also transferred were “woodlots of Charlestown” and part of the town of Woburn (now Winchester) [7] .
The population of Medford increased from 230 in 1700 to 1114 in 1800. After 1880, the population increased rapidly, reaching 18,244 in 1900 [8] . Beginning in the 1840s and 1850s, farmland was subdivided into lots and sold for the construction of residential and commercial buildings. In connection with the increase in population, schools, police, post office, gas lighting, electricity, telephone, railways appeared in the city. Tufts University was founded in 1852, and Crane Theological School was opened in 1869.
Medford was promoted to town in 1892 [9] and became a center of industry producing bricks [10] , roof tiles, rum [11] , crackers and clippers [12] , such as White Swallow and Kingfisher [13] .
Transport

In the 17th century the main roads of the city were High Street, Main Street, Salem Street, Stoneham Road and South Street. But the road system did not start a massive expansion until the 18th century [14] . In 1860 a horse tram was drawn from Medford to Somerville and Charlestown. Trams were replaced by buses in the 20th century. Between 1956 and 1963, the route 93 [15] was built.
Gypsy moth
In 1868, the French astronomer and naturalist, Leopold Treovolt, tried to breed silkworms using the gypsy moth. Soon some of the butterflies were able to get outside and quickly spread throughout North America.
Song Festival
At the end of the 19th century, in a tavern and boarding house on the High Street (Simpson’s Tavern), local resident James Pierpont wrote the famous “Jingle Bells” after watching sleigh races. Another local resident, Lydia Maria Child (1802-1880), wrote the poem “Beyond the River and the Forest”.
Medford and the Law
Some famous crimes have taken place in Medford:
In 1980, several Medford police officers carried out one of the largest bank and jewelry thefts in world history, robbing the Trust Bank on Memorial Day. The book The Cops Are Robbers: A Convicted Cop’s True Story of Police Corruption “” is based on this event. Today, on the site of the bank where the robbery took place, there is a Salvatore restaurant. A hole in the corner under the ceiling serves as a memory of how the robbers crawled through it and remained intact, and the surviving bank vault door serves as a memory of that event.
Irish Winter Hill Gang criminal activities took place in Medford, in particular at the Tin Pot Cafe (now the Lighthouse Cafe) [16] .

Some of you may already have a job lined up, but many more of you will begin your search once you’ve passed the bar exam. However much we’d like to deny it, money is a big motivating factor in life. It’s true that money can’t buy you everything. But it sure can make a lot of life more comfortable, especially if you are leaving law school with debts of $100,000 or more.
I thought I could help you out by making your search a little easier. I’ve compiled a list of the top-paying law firms by starting salary.
Factors Affecting a Law Associate’s First Year Salary
While a respected law degree is the first step to earning well, other factors such as specialty, region, the law firm itself, and even the specific industry all play a big role. For example, some of the top-paying industries for law include specialized design services, computer and IT, motion picture industries, and navigational manufacturing. These industries pay upwards of $200,000 per year.
Other factors, such as sector, can also play a role, and it can mean that salaries may vary widely. Public-sector law jobs, for instance, can range from $53,000 to $71,000 per year, while private-sector firms can pay between $45,000 to $180,000 per year. Sometimes this can also depend on the culture of the individual firm and how many employees it has.
In general, lawyers entering the public sector tend to receive lower starting salaries, so as you’ll see on the list below, it is often better to aim for big or private firms if you want to hit that lucrative mark right off the bat. One thing to bear in mind though is that big law firms base a person’s salary on their law school class, which means they compete with other firms to attract the best students.
On that note, let’s take a moment from your finals-studying life to check out some very lucrative firms that pay their associates the big bucks.
Wachtell, Lipton, Rosen & Katz This is a small New York firm that still operates out of a single Manhattan office. All the founders, except for Katz, still work in the office-Wachtell and Lipton as partners, and Rosen as Of Counsel. Their first-year associates are given a starting salary of $165,000, in addition to a whopping bonus that ranges from 50-100% of their entire salary.
Cravath, Swaine & Moore LLP Cravath has been a preeminent firm for almost 200 years. This firm only operates out of two offices and keeps the numbers of lawyers it hires low. The firm is known for its conviction of promoting partners from within, rarely ever hiring lateral partners. Starting salary at Cravath is $160,000.
Sullivan & Cromwell LLP This firm has been ranked in AmLaw 100 since the inception of the rankings. It is well known as an ‘old-timer’ powerhouse among associates and clients. Starting salary at Sullivan is $160,000.
Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meager & Flom LLP and Affiliates Skadden is one of the most profitable law firms in the nation. It was the first law firm to ever reach $1 billion in annual revenue. Skadden’s starting salary is $160,000.
Davis Polk & Wardwell This firm was founded in New York City over 160 years ago. It specializes in finance, having departments in capital markets, M&A, bankruptcy, and taxes. Its starting salary is $160,000.
Weil, Gotshal & Manges LLP Weil is known as the top bankruptcy firm in the nation. It was founded in New York in 1931 and now overlooks Central Park from its Fifth Avenue office. Over half of its 21 offices are based overseas. Starting salary is $160,000.
Simpson Thacher & Bartlett LLP The founders, Simpson, Thacher, and Bartlett, are all Columbia Law School graduates. The firm was founded in 1884. The firm’s starting salary is $160,000.
Cleary Gottlieb Steen & Hamilton LLP Cleary Gottlieb is an integrated global partnership. The firm’s first international office opened in 1949. Cleary Gottlieb has awarded its foreign lawyers equal partnership in the firm, gaining a strong advantage in its international presence. The starting salary is $160,000.
Kirkland & Ellis LLP Kirkland has a history of defending newspapers in significant free speech and libel cases, so much so that the University of Chicago actually named its moot courtroom after Kirkland. The starting salary at Kirkland is $160,000.
Latham & Watkins LLP Latham is one of the world’s largest firms. It has over 30 offices around the world. Founding partner Dana Latham was a former commissioner of the IRS. Starting salary at Latham is $160,000.
Get the First Year Law Associate’s Salary You Deserve
Soon you will embark on your bar exam prep and finish the long path towards becoming an attorney. The above firms are some of the most prestigious and powerful institutions in the nation. If you do want to work at one of these law firms, then I wish you the best of luck. But remember, there are hundreds of amazing firms that are changing the world day by day.
Try to think on Carlos Ruiz Zafon’s words: “Making money isn’t hard in itself; what’s hard is to earn it doing something worth devoting one’s life to.”

The Ideal Law Firm: Wachtell, Lipton, Rosen & Katz partner talks about how the
legal business leader works Billing, large staff, hierarchy and many responsibilities are traditionally considered an integral part of the work of a lawyer. However, the path to success for a law firm may lie in a completely different way: informal interaction with colleagues, exchange of experience and real, rather than nominal partnership.
Andrew Nussbaum, partner in corporate practice at Wachtell, Lipton, Rosen & Katz, America’s most prestigious law firm, which has been a leader in the global market for supporting major transactions and resolving complex corporate conflicts, spoke about how to build a “human” company, which at the same time will be in the top of the best law firms in the world. Nussbaum, who gave a lecture to students of the Higher School of Economics on the role of litigation in American M&A practice, explained how one of the brightest companies in the American legal market is organized and why it is important for a novice lawyer to work in court.
The lecture was organized by the Department of Practical Jurisprudence of the National Research University Higher School of Economics, headed by Sergey Savelyev, partner at the law firm Saveliev, Batanov & Partners. Sergey himself says that he is very pleased that this is not the first time he has been able to organize a lecture with the participation of world leaders in the field of corporate projects and disputes, who are ready to share their experience with the Russian public. Such a format of cooperation is very important, since the very work of the Department implies an appeal not only to the best national, but also to world practices, including the management of a law firm.
For the 10th consecutive year, US career site Vault has named the New York law firm of Wachtell, Lipton, Rosen & Katz America’s Most Prestigious Law Firm. Lawyers are known for taking on hard work, the Vault explained. However, there can be no easy job for such a company: it specializes in large and complex transactions, including a $ 50 billion deal for the purchase of Merrill Lynch by Bank of America. However, the firm is unlike its competitors, said Andrew Nussbaum, a partner in the company’s corporate practice. The reason is the professionalism of partners; for example, Nussbaum, who worked for Wachtell, Lipton, Rosen & Katz for many years, previously served as an assistant to the most prominent judges of the US Armed Forces, often taking diametrically opposed positions in disputes – Ruth Ginzburg and Antonina Scalia. But not only – it is also a special attitude to the matter.
Typical features of an American law firm – many associates tied to one partner, 5-7 people on average, “eat what you kill” compensation and hourly billing. Wachtell, Lipton, Rosen & Katz are sure that the work should be done differently.
“Corporate culture is the most important thing in a law firm because a law firm only succeeds as much as its people succeed,” said Andrew Nussbaum, partner at Wachtell, Lipton, Rosen & Katz.

About teamwork
There is no significant disproportion between the number of partners and the number of lawyers in the company: it can be said that all employees have a similar set of competencies, says Andrew Nusssbaum. At Wachtell, Lipton, Rosen & Katz, there are no more than two associates per partner, which, according to Nussbaum, allows a novice lawyer to have direct contact with very experienced employees. “Today, in most cases, on the contrary, young employees learn from those who are in the law firm for two years more than themselves. This is less effective,” says Nussbaum. In the company, in fact, they apply the principle of “sink or swim” – the partner gives the lawyer the same job that he is busy with and expects a colleague to figure it out.
“We fully involve our employees in the process of closing the deal. For example, if the company (participating in the transaction – ed.) has a meeting of the board of directors, and I have to attend it, then the lawyer working on the project will go to this meeting with me. We provide them with experience, the opportunity to be in the decision rooms, because a lot of corporate law is human interaction, understanding how top managers, heads of legal departments think and make decisions. And in If lawyers don’t meet management in person until they’ve been with the law firm for six or seven years, they don’t get the experience they need, they don’t develop the knowledge they need,” says Andrew Nussbaum.
Wachtell, Lipton, Rosen & Katz’s strategy is not new: this is how lawyers were trained in the past. “In England, there were special desks for partners. They were quite long. The partner sat on one side, and the young employees sat on the other. The way of learning law for young barristers and solicitors was to observe what the partner was doing and then repeat the actions for him. In theory, a young lawyer learned in this way, turned into a qualified specialist, because he was in direct contact with professionals who did a very high quality job,” Nussbaum said.

Another peculiarity of the company is that it doesn’t keep billing, i.e. records of hours spent by lawyers. Lawyers do not have mandatory annual plans, and the client pays only for the value of the work (value based), but not for the time spent.
“We are trying to estimate the cost of the services provided based on the resources we have involved. This can be the number of lawyers involved in the project, the amount of time spent and, of course, the complexity of the project itself and our ability to find a solution that is unique to it, which is so appreciated by our clients,” explained Nussbaum.
About pricing for services
“At the beginning of the project, we give clients a rough estimate, and at the same time, at the initial stage, we never insist on signing a contract with a specific amount, after all, our task and ultimate goal is that the client likes the work done, for which he wants to pay a suitable price. If he does not like the work or he does not want to pay what we think is fair, we will agree that the client is willing to pay us, but here we will ask him to never call us again, after which we will move on to other clients.0003
Wachtell, Lipton, Rosen & Katz
supported 90,002 major US deals in the last 5 years
Thus, we will give a rough estimate first as an approximate amount, which, as the project develops, may change, and sometimes significantly, since the case may turn out to be more difficult than it seemed at first glance, may require more time or resources, or, on the contrary, may turn out to be easier than expected. After the completion of the project, we issue an invoice already in the amount of a certain amount. Usually clients are satisfied and agree, but sometimes they can say that they want to pay less or, conversely, more, because they really liked the way we work. It must be said that in litigation we sometimes still use billing in addition to the success fee, but this depends on the nature of the dispute.”
About a career as a lawyer
The company has also abandoned another trait typical of law firms – “eat what you kill” compensation. The partnership formula is a hard lock step, when all lawyers or partners of the same level receive the same income. As Andrew Nussbaum himself says, in this firm they argue about anything, but not about money. This approach contributes to the development of an egalitarian culture, the lawyer believes.
However, Wachtell’s lawyers cannot complain about the income. According to Business Insider, the company’s 2016 associate income started at $165,000, only $5,000 more than the New York average. However, the bonuses in the company are huge: before the recession, you could get 100% of your salary, after – half as much, but even those who worked in the company for a year could count on almost $ 250,000.
Beginner lawyers of the company are satisfied with the payment. “The willingness of partners to show how they appreciate the work of associates through compensation is a definite plus. It gives optimism against the background of the hard work that has to be done,” Business Insider quotes associates.
However, there is a lot of work to be done, regardless of experience: everyone is expected to be as diligent as a novice lawyer who has to work 12-14 hours a day at Wachtell.
“Our difference is that we consistently provide quality service, no setbacks or failures. And that’s important because, you know, they say you’re good until you make your last mistake, so we’re very good. Also, when a law firm is small, they don’t hire many lawyers during the year because they just don’t need them. Because of this, we only hire the best lawyers, keeping the team highly professional, which allows us not to make major mistakes working on projects,” says Nussbaum.
About partnerships and running the firm
“To be honest, we have a terrible corporate governance system, we could never go public. No, seriously, we have a really terrible governance system. With one exception – it suits us perfectly,” Nussbaum ironically. The system, he says, is highly informal: “Two partners run the firm, which is a terrible job because they have a lot of decisions to make, and most of us are very happy that someone else does it: sometimes someone needs to be fired, decide how to dispose of office space, and so on. In general, a whole bunch of cases, and, you know, I would rather deal with transactions.”
Most often, managing partners are older people, Nussbaum notes, and management is not the ultimate goal of their work. “Usually they say, ‘OK, I’ll be happy to do this [management of the company] for some time,’ we don’t even vote about it, we just find people who want to do it – and they do it. The advantage of this position is that if I’m going to go to Moscow and give a lecture, I don’t need to ask someone’s permission,” says the partner.
The value of the customer
At Wachtell, partners are much more involved in complex transactions and disputes than, for example, at Sullivan & Cromwel or other firms. This is Wachtell’s model of work, as partners need to be involved in the project and communicate directly with customers.
About the firm’s projects
“We only take projects that we are interested in,” says Nussbaum. If the project does not seem significant enough to lawyers, they will easily abandon it. And, for example, they will redirect the client to colleagues: “We are always happy to give in if we are sure that the client will be more comfortable working with another company. In this case, we will send him there ourselves, and, as a rule, it will be a company with which we have established relations.”
“You have to choose cases wisely – don’t take on every client that comes to you, <...> cases that depend more on the number of lawyers than on your bright ideas. We turn down a lot of clients, and they find it strange. They think they didn’t please us in some way, and ask questions like: “What do you mean you don’t want to represent me?”. It’s not that we don’t want to – we just don’t see the point. not sure <...> better call so-and-so. We know they’re the perfect fit for you.”0003
About changing managing partners
“How often do you change managing partners? Well, maybe when one of them dies? Now the firm is run by two people – Dan Neff and Ed Ehrlihy – they’ve been in the firm for a very long time and have been extremely successful; very experienced. Strictly speaking, the arrangement is that as long as they want to do it – we’re glad they’re in these positions,” says Nussbaum.
If someone wants to leave, this is quite understandable. “We had a former partner, he is now a professor in the same law school. An outstanding corporate lawyer. He became a partner about 20 years ago, and a year after becoming a partner, he left to teach. The process of moving up to partnership in our firm is similar to the contest “Who eats the most pies.” The more pies you eat, the more chances you have. And when you become a partner, the prize is more pies, “Nussbaum ironically.
Retirement
The company has a concept of ‘retirement partner’: there is an approved retirement policy that provides for retirement at the age of 62.
“After 62, you can stay in the firm for another 5 years, but the share in the firm will decrease: in order to allow new people [new partners] to enter the firm, we must, of course, provide for retirement. But, of course, there can be exceptions. Marty Lipton [one of the firm’s founders – ed.], for example, is much older than 62 years old, but he is still a full partner in the firm, which, of course, is not surprisingly, there are other exceptions. That’s one plus of a small firm – you can afford exceptions.”
About the back office staff
The company pays a lot of attention to the back office: the number of back office employees is about 400-450 people, significantly more than, for example, partners. Food is especially valued, Nussbaum notes.
“There is such a joke that Wachtell, Lipton, Rosen & Katz have very tasty food, unlike, for example, Sullivan & Cromwel, and Wachtell, Lipton, Rosen & Katz come for advice, but stay because of the food.”
About marketing
According to Nussbaum, the company has no marketers at all. “Look at our website! It’s terrible! It’s immediately clear that the company does not have a single marketer,” says Nussbaum. However, the company does not need them, he is sure.
“At Wachtell, Lipton, Rosen & Katz they don’t believe that advertising can bring customers, but they will always find a person who would write a small booklet describing their experience. While before, almost no New York firm had marketers, now they are all hired.”
About his career
Nussbaum also spoke about his career. His track record includes working as a clerk for judges Ruth Ginsburg and Antonin Scalia. For a lawyer, Nussbaum considers court experience a necessity.
“You need to understand how a third party will read your contract. If you can’t look at your document from this point of view (the courts – ed.), you can’t consider yourself a full professional. Understand how the judge thinks, how he makes decisions,” Nussbaum said.
how Koos Bekker got rich without a salary – RBC
The son of a South African farmer Koos Bekker did not want to work as a prosecutor in his youth and took up marketing. He is now the CEO of Naspers and the owner of a fortune estimated by Forbes at $1.67 billion
From prosecutors to marketers
Becker was born in 1952 in the provincial town of Heidelberg in the Western Cape of South Africa, into a family of farmers. He attended two universities, Stellenbosch and Witwatersrand, where he studied literature and law. “I got a bachelor’s degree and became a prosecutor in court,” Becker recalled in an interview with Moneyweb. – I felt like a complete loser: I don’t like blood, and most of all I don’t like arguing. So, within the first week, I realized that the years at the university were wasted. I had to do something and all of a sudden I was thinking about business.”
Becker decided to study marketing. He did not receive family support: his father was skeptical about entrepreneurship and was disappointed in the choice of his son. “I became interested in gherkins and at one moment realized that the inhabitants of Sea Point, most of them Jewish, love it when they are spicy and sweet, and the inhabitants of Newlands, as a rule, English women, love them more bland,” recalled the businessman. “It was a great revelation.”
In the early 1980s, Becker went to study marketing in New York. He enrolled at Columbia University, where he researched the nascent cable television market, and returned to South Africa after completing his degree.

Teaming up with several colleagues, young professionals like him, Becker initiated the launch of the M-Net pay TV channel. “There was no pay TV anywhere except in the USA. We picked up the idea, returned to South Africa and became pioneers together with the French,” the businessman shared his memories. – We improvised along the way: here you need to use one technology, there another, and here you need to fasten the wire with chewing gum. But it was exciting, I loved this TV world.”
adv.rbc.ru
In 1991, Becker began to study cellular telephony, and soon, together with partners, he launched MTN, which today is one of the leaders in the South African telecommunications market. “Cellular telephony has radically changed society. Imagine how plumbers worked in the 1990s: they went to one job, returned to the office, received instructions, went to another,” Becker explained. “Now imagine how he lives now: you are always on the road and you don’t see the office.”
Head of Naspers
In 1997, Becker was appointed CEO of Nasionale Pers (renamed Naspers a year later). He bet on the Internet. According to Becker, in 1995, when the World Wide Web first appeared in the United States, he did not see its potential. “It was only in 1997 that we realized that something really big was brewing here,” the businessman told Moneyweb. Naspers launched M-Web ISP.
Over the next few years, Becker invested in more than 100 technology companies around the world, Bloomberg notes. Most of these investments went nowhere: online retailers in Africa closed. “Everyone talks about success, but if you think about it, it doesn’t teach us anything. If you fail, you can draw conclusions and act differently next time. An example of this is our investment in Chinese business in 1997 year. All of them turned out to be failures. On one of them, a Beijing Internet provider, we lost $ 80 million – all our money, ”Becker recalled.
Analyzing the failure, the businessman concluded that, instead of hiring a lot of Western managers with standard thinking and overstated demands, you can “find smart entrepreneurs, local people who barely speak English, and follow them, finance, give advice if they need it.” “Our biggest success in China is that we failed so early and so spectacularly that we humbled ourselves and were able to change our policy. Perhaps if we had succeeded with our first investments, which we made by analogy with all Western companies, then as a result we would have failed,” he said.
In 2001, Naspers bought a 46.5% stake in the little-known Chinese messenger developer Tencent. She was a new player in the country’s market, where the Internet was almost not used: by the time of the deal, Tencent had existed for three years and had not made a profit all this time. Now the capitalization of Tencent is $192 billion. The Chinese company is successfully developing businesses in the markets of online media, e-commerce, social networks, social services, mobile applications and online games. The messenger she initially worked on was called QQ, and at the end of 2015 it was used by 853 million people a month (plus 5% compared to last year). “They [the Chinese] came from nowhere at 1990s, and now they are the second, after the USA, the most dynamic market in the world. Big players like Baidoo, Tencent and Alibaba are well on their feet,” Becker said.
Success in the Chinese Internet market allowed Becker to look into other emerging markets as well. In March 2008, Naspers bought the Polish online auction site Allegro, which operates more than 100 e-commerce sites in Central and Eastern Europe, for $1.88 billion. And in 2007 – a 30% stake in Mail.Ru Group for $ 165 million. As reported on the website of the Russian company, as of April 2015, Naspers controlled 27. 6% through its holding company MIH, another 7.4% belonged to Tencent. As of March 31, the capitalization of Mail.Ru Group was $4.8 billion. In October 2015, Naspers announced its intention to become the largest shareholder of the largest ad site in Russia, Avito, by buying out the shares of several shareholders for $1.2 billion: as a result, Naspers’ share in Avito should grow from 17.4 to 67.9%. According to TNS Russia, in February 2016 Avito was the eighth most popular site in Runet with a monthly audience of 25.7 million people.
Director without salary
As CEO of Naspers, Becker did not receive a salary. According to him, which was cited by the Techcentral portal in May 2015, he himself chose the following conditions: he refused the remuneration and was ready to quit within a day without the right to compensation, but in return received generous options for Naspers shares.
In April 2014, Becker stepped down as CEO of Naspers after taking a year off to travel. In April 2015, he returned to the company as non-executive chairman of the board of directors. A month later, in a conversation with Bloomberg, Becker explained that the company’s challenge was “to find countries where there is still room for growth, as many good opportunities have already been missed.” He wants to prove that Naspers is not just a giant venture capital fund built entirely on a single Chinese investment.0003
What else Naspers bought
As part of its e-commerce expansion, Naspers has focused on emerging markets such as India, Russia, China, Brazil and Eastern Europe.
In September 2009, Naspers bought a 91% stake in the Brazilian online retailer BuskaPe for $273 million. As of the end of March, it was ranked 50th in the list of the 500 most popular sites in Brazil, according to Alexa.
Last April, Naspers invested $40 million in the Brazilian platform Movile, which develops mobile applications.
In 2012, the company acquired shares in the Czech Netretail SRO and Internet Mall AS, as well as 70% of the Romanian online retailer eMag.

When factories in Kuibyshev sponsored summer dachas for kindergartens
children at a summer dacha near Kuibyshev, 1966
3 clearings
Summer in a few days. Fun vacation time. Teachers carefully ask parents if they want to send their children to summer school camps, although the question of questions is where will you take the children from them during quarantine and social distances? Last year, our younger friend, along with those from the Center for Aesthetic Education of Children and Youth, did not get out of the excursions. But today, museums and cinemas during the epidemic are a dangerous thing. I remember the blessed summer dachas that the kindergartens of Samara had under the Soviets and I understand that generations have grown up on the Volga who do not know what various officials in the green zone of the city have stolen from children.
Found an article in perestroika newspaper Volzhskaya Zarya for 1987. What is curious – at that moment, officials from the regional architecture explained the gradual extinction of kindergarten summer cottages by the upcoming development of summer cottages with new residential microdistricts. Now there are no dachas for children, no neighborhoods – mostly individual cottages.
It turns out that the children of Samara were robbed twice – in the city, half of the kindergartens were taken away from them for offices and churches, and on the clearings – ALL summer cottages.
What is more interesting – there are no Kuibyshev enterprises left that generously helped kindergartens maintain their summer cottages – the elevator in question was demolished, the Mill No. 3 on the street was closed. Krupskaya 1 – in its place is a shopping center, there is no Krasnaya Zvezda clothing factory and a confectionery factory, which are also discussed in the article. Most likely, there is no kindergarten No. 16, which journalists write about.
KINDERGARTEN IN THE COTTAGE
They say that just in the area of the 3rd clearing, the film “Timur and his team”, which was very popular at the time, was filmed, the action of which took place in a cozy holiday village. The place here is really wonderful: greenery, silence. It is no accident that so many children’s institutions are located in this zone – sanatoriums, pioneer camps, summer cottages of orphanages and kindergartens. I was in a hurry to one of them on a sunny August day. Here, under the canopy of centuries-old oaks, there is a summer dacha, where the pupils of kindergarten No. 16 of the Samara region, more than 100 boys and girls from three to seven years old, have been living for the second month.
OUTSIDE THE BLUE GATE
A NARROW alley off the main road led me to a blue gate through which voices could be heard. Undoubtedly indicate there is a summer residence for children. I stepped over the threshold. And immediately a tanned boy in a wreath of maple leaves appeared before me, running out of the dense thickets that framed the path with a dense wall. In his hands he held something like a bow. It was obvious that an exciting game was going on, because the bushes of bird cherry and lilac were agitated and rustling endlessly – for sure, the army of Robin Hood was hiding there. “It’s good for the guys here. I involuntarily thought to myself. What freedom, what expanse! This is not a tiny piece of the courtyard adjacent to the building of the city garden!”
Soviet kindergarten from the Progress factory Pronicheva, having taken off the white apron with which she was tied X why the apron – more on that later), showed me the dacha. It was also good in cozy houses, where both dining rooms and bedrooms are provided, where there are glazed terraces on which children play and study in bad weather. Children’s crafts were good – acorns, grass and even ordinary thorns were turned into little animals, birds, funny little men. All this was done by children under the guidance of teachers. There were also two TVs here – the kids are aware of all the events, this is also not bad. Playgrounds for outdoor games, for physical education, densely overgrown with grass.
But the main thing is to introduce children to the world of nature, with which, alas. little known city kids. Find out what trees, bushes, herbs grow on the site. Admire the beauty of the sunset. Constantly observe the life of birds, insects, feed squirrels that trustfully descend from oak branches. Collect berries and fruits in a small garden. How many joys every summer day brings to kids! How strong and healthy they are!
Two dozen children will leave kindergarten this year for school, first grade. A real generator of health and energy, without which it is not easy for first-graders to overcome the basics of science, will be a summer cottage for them.
Not enough toys, but…
There was a mill #3 here
SO, LETS START…
Dinner is over – cherry pie was a success. The children with the teachers dispersed around the site. It is so large that you can play completely without interfering with each other. We are sitting with Valentina Gavrilovna under the canopy of a mighty oak, talking about the summer life of preschool children. And constantly, no matter what the conversation is about, the manager returns to the initial moment, the very one when she said: “This dacha, Anatoly Ivanovich, please give me back. ” By all appearances, this dacha was not easy for her!
Anatoly Ivanovich Makridin, the head of the Samara District Department, immediately went to meet Pronicheva – he gave his “go-ahead” to populate the dacha with the 16th kindergarten. This dacha promised to remain ownerless: for a number of reasons, its former owner, Kindergarten No. 55, refused to own it.
Valentina Gavrilovna enthusiastically set to work. I started by talking to the bosses.
“We have good bosses,” says Pronicheva. — Both the director of the elevator D. V. Maslov and the director of the mill No. 3 V. N. Ostrometsky are always sympathetic to our needs. And with the dacha, the issue was resolved without delay; assured: “We will certainly help both people and materials.”
solid cubes
Let’s not dwell on various organizational problems that delayed the opening of the summer season. Let’s just say that thanks to the energy and perseverance of the manager, the help of the chefs, the repair of country houses and utility rooms was completed in a month. The residential buildings were whitewashed and painted, the kitchen and shower room were put in order, the issue with fire-fighting structures was resolved, the territory was cleared, the equipment on the site was repaired. We must pay tribute to the parents of the kids – many of them took an active part in subbotniks and Sundays.
COOK? NANNY? Educator?
BUT PROBLEMS still arose and complicated the lives of both adults and children. However, the children practically did not notice them – the team was mostly friendly, conscious, ready to sacrifice personal interests for the sake of the common good and did not allow disruptions in work.
The main problem was the shortage of personnel. The issue with the teachers was resolved immediately, although the maintenance of the children became round-the-clock, fifty more children from other kindergartens in the area where repairs are underway were added to their pets. But with nannies, especially at night, it was a bit difficult, and now two are missing. Employees get out as best they can: master related professions, replace each other. There are two cooks in the kindergarten, we need one more to replace. Today, one “cook” fell ill – and the manager herself got up to the stove (that’s why she met the correspondent in an apron – she fed the kids with an afternoon snack). As if by the way, nimble and skillful cooks from TU No. 10 came here. But the attempt to get personnel there for Valentina Gavrilovna ended in failure – she received a categorical refusal.
Obviously, next year (the manager has no doubts that a trip to the dacha in the summer of 1988 will take place), we need to take into account the lessons of the current one – think about how to attract young people to work as nannies (an excellent practice for those who are going to become a teacher), staff , including cooks (it seems that TU-10 should also meet preschool workers halfway). Both bosses and parents will need to make an effort to increase the number of facilities on the site for organizing children’s games and physical education. Yes, and the orchard needs more careful care.
And the summer days go on and on. Not always warm and clear. “The rains tortured me,” the teachers complain. But even in cool weather, warmly dressed children spend most of their time in the air, which heals children better than any medicines and vitamins.
THE CONVERSATION IS NOT ENDED
REPORTING from the summer cottage, where the kids live well among the greenery and silence, is over. But the conversation on the topic “Kindergarten in the country” is far from over. Because fewer and fewer preschoolers are spending their kindergarten summer outside the city. Summer cottages are dilapidated, and their restoration is not carried out for various reasons. One of them is the GlavAPU ban on the overhaul of summer-type buildings located in the area of dacha clearings, where it is planned to build new microdistricts over time. And the dachas stand for years without their little owners, who at that time languish in the city. Children’s voices have not been heard for a long time in the dachas of kindergartens No. 51 of the Krasnaya Zvezda clothing factory, No. 69Kuibyshevskaya GRES, 26 confectionery factory, No. 187. 43, 73 32, which are under the jurisdiction of the city. This year, the number of dachas in the Samara region has decreased three times compared to last year. Only 14 preschool institutions now have summer dachas (and this is out of more than 400 kindergartens operating in the city).
Do preschoolers benefit from green space? We believe that the answer to this question is quite convincing. So, won’t a chance be found outside the city to give the children back their summer dachas, where they live so well?
T. MIGANOVA
Volzhskaya Zarya August 26, 1987
Today, kindergartens in the Samara region are the most miserable in the regional center. There are not only summer dachas, there are even no courtyards where children can walk most often.

How do kindergartens work in summer?
How do kindergartens work in summer?
In summer, kindergartens are open the same hours as they are all year round: from 7 am to 7 pm for kindergartens with a 12-hour stay, or from 7 am to 5.30 pm for kindergartens with a 10.5-hour stay. But the mode of operation in many kindergartens is changing.
“In the summer, there are fewer children, they go away for health improvement, parents go on vacation and do not take their children to kindergarten,” says Olga Kaplina, chief specialist of the preschool and general secondary education department of the education committee of the Minsk City Executive Committee.
For this reason, in kindergartens with a 12-hour stay, the working hours of groups are reduced. In their group, the kids will be from 7 to 17.30, and then, until 19 o’clock, from the kids of different groups make up duty groups.
This also changes the diet. The kids have a second breakfast – juice. But there will be no lunch. Instead, at 17 o’clock – dinner. Under 19hours, says Olga Kaplina, the children will not have time to get hungry.
Every summer, the ration for children’s food is increased by 10% so that children can get fresh vegetables, fruits and juices. Salads are included on the menu. Especially strictly, the specialist says, in the summer they monitor the drinking regime. “Since children play a lot in the street, they definitely need to drink,” says Olga Kaplina.
“Nothing new is happening here, preschool institutions have been operating in this way for the last 20 years,” says a specialist from the department of preschool and general secondary education.
Some preschool institutions, especially in the Central District, where there are many old kindergartens, are closed for repairs in the summer, and children are disbanded in nearby preschool institutions. “Therefore, even cosmetic repairs according to sanitary rules are strictly forbidden to be done in the presence of children. And I want the garden to be updated by September, ”says the specialist.
If the number of groups in the summer is large, then any garden can decide not to change the mode of operation. “In order to predict the number of children in the summer, a survey is made among parents,” says Olga Kaplina.
At this stage, misunderstanding sometimes arises between caregivers and parents.
“If we take a child to kindergarten all summer, does it mean that we are a dysfunctional family?”
Our reader Oksana contacted the hotline. Her child attends one of the kindergartens in the Zavodskoy district of Minsk.
Parents were immediately asked to fill out a sheet in which it was necessary to indicate which summer months the child would definitely visit the garden, and which not.
Then, at a parent-teacher meeting, the educator warned the parents that those families that could not improve their health over the summer and not take the child to kindergarten for at least two weeks would be registered as dysfunctional. And in September they will come to their homes (with or without a district inspector – at the discretion of the kindergarten administration) to find out why the child went to the kindergarten all summer.
According to Oksana, the teachers also recommended picking up the child from kindergarten half an hour or an hour earlier in the summer, “so that he doesn’t go hungry for a long time”.
“Why should conscientious parents who, due to circumstances, have to take their children to kindergarten in the summer, have to apologize, feel guilty and ask the headmaster not to register them as dysfunctional? Oksana asks. – It is clear that the child needs a break from the garden and that in the summer many groups are closed, as the educators begin the time of long holidays. But parents can also understand. Firstly, not everyone has grandparents, relatives who can take the child for the summer or pick them up earlier while you are at work.”
Olga Kaplina, specialist of the pre-school and general secondary education department of the Education Committee of the Minsk City Executive Committee, believes that a child really needs a break from kindergarten in the summer, to be with mom and dad.
