  • Daria Ostrovskaya

    Varyusha’s mother (senior group)

    (Review moved from Yandex Maps)

It so happened that we have already changed 3 kindergartens due to moving! Elephant and Bird became the fourth and most favorite!! You can write a lot of words, but I’ll tell you what has changed in my daughter’s life in just 5 months in this kindergarten:
    1) fell in love with sweet peppers and tomatoes. Until recently, the only vegetable she ate was cucumber. VICTORY!!
    2) Learned to read! I will not hide, not without parental help, but for the most part this is the merit of our magical educators!
    3) learned many new poems. Previously, this was a big problem for us, and now my daughter does not tell them to me, but I hear how she tells her friend via video communication.
    4) understanding of simple mathematical examples has come
    5) a huge number of activities, and each of them is pleasant to the child!!
    6) an incredible expansion of horizons. Suddenly, the daughter begins to talk about ancient Egypt and mummies, or talk about how the Ural Mountains divide Eurasia.

But the most important thing is the nightly dialogue:
    – Varya, was there something sad in the kindergarten?
    – no, everything was fun!!

Special thanks to all employees of the kindergarten! Girls, you are the best! Soulful, warm, cozy! And your garden is the same! Good luck with your business!

The best garden in Zhukovsky and its environs. Cozy and with a pleasant atmosphere. Adaptation took place in one to two weeks, despite the fact that we came at 2 years and 3 months. The child quickly got used to it and walks with pleasure. We are still in the junior group. There are few children, so everyone is given attention. Two teachers are more than enough. I like that they take into account the interests and characteristics of each child. I leave the baby with peace of mind, knowing that everything will be fine.

  • Sidorova Victoria

    Masha’s mother (senior group)

    (Review moved from Yandex maps)

    Our 4th kindergarten and favorite.

    Lovely, my daughter enjoys walking!

The team is pleasant, professional, they work with children, but do not overload (as we did before), the child has become calmer and more sociable. There are painting, and cooking classes, gardening and other activities, reading, counting, English.

The kids are all friendly and have a great time going for a walk, which is also important for us.

  • Irina Anikina

    mother Seeds (senior group)

    (Review moved from Yandex Maps)

This is a great kindergarten! I can’t even imagine how and what could be better. To be honest, we did not think about the choice for a long time, but immediately came here and here from the very opening. Excellent teaching staff, always sensitive and attentive to the children. The variety of activities is amazing! There is almost everything, so you can not go to some additional circles. Excellent cuisine, homemade food – special thanks for this! And what kind of children arrange holidays! What amazing workshops! Happiness has no limit. In a word, we never cease to admire the garden and thank you for the opportunity to visit this magical place!

  • Anna Mantserova

mother of Arisha (middle group) and Sofia (nursery)

    (Review moved from Yandex Maps)

Gorgeous garden, chic staff. The food is superb. Attitude towards children – I have never seen anything like it. Great fellows, many thanks.

Soon we will return to Moscow, we dream of taking the garden with us)))

  • Olga Temnova

    Luka’s mother (senior group)

    (Review moved from Yandex maps)

Favorite garden !both mine and my son !😊 when the elders had holidays at school, the younger one said: “I don’t need holidays, please, Mom, take me to kindergarten” 😊

And he went all week in the morning “to work” with joy! I think this is an indication.

As for the specifics, there are a lot of activities with children (music, and a speech therapist, and English, and drawing, and the world around us and the basics of the alphabet (developing), but the children are not overloaded. They have time to play, take a walk, indulge, sweet sleep and eat delicious!😊

The teachers are the best! Children LOVE! We are very glad that we can be among the happy preschoolers!

  • Daria Bazvanova

    Masha’s mother (senior group)

    (Review moved from Yandex Maps)

Previously, they went to the municipal kindergarten and could not raise the child in the morning, because she simply did not want to go there, but now she jumps up herself and dresses in “elephant and bird”

We couldn’t find a better Garden, every day, like on a holiday, a child runs to this wonderful place, where kind and helpful staff, I can’t say anything bad. Only positive emotions!!!!!

  • Tatyana Lukina

    Ilaria’s grandmother (senior group)

    (Review moved from Yandex maps)

We are delighted with the kindergarten) The atmosphere of love, kindness and harmony. I was afraid that we would have a difficult adaptation, but! How they meet us there, how the kids spend their time – my daughter runs to the group without looking back) And when I pick it up, she excitedly tells what she did today. This is, of course, the most important thing for me – that the child is safe, surrounded by care and having an interesting time. Our teacher is wonderful – Ekaterina Viktorovna. And of course the salt cave in the garden is priceless)

  • Victoria Shincorenko

    Mom Miroslava (middle group)

(the review was postponed from Yandex Cards)

searched for a kindergarten for a very long time, and when this amazing place was opened, we immediately entered the younger group) and did not lose. The child walks with pleasure every day. And oh gods, the educators taught me to potty))) our little victory, thanks to the kindergarten for this. Do you want your child to be delighted? Then bring your child to this kindergarten! Excellent kindergarten! My daughter goes here every day with pleasure) Good and polite girls! We are very happy that we chose this nursery. Thank you)

  • Ingognito

but we are very pleased 🙂

    (Review moved from Yandex maps)

So there were circumstances that we had to urgently resolve the issue with the garden. This was one of the first ones I planned to see. After the tour, I stopped looking. Great program and great teachers. English, educational games, a salt cave … and I was also very impressed with the design, there is definitely nothing like this in our city. As a result – the child is satisfied😊

Having changed several gardens, they chose especially carefully. “Little Lion” is not just a kindergarten, it is a big friendly family where you send your child with a calm heart. We love you with all our heart for your sincerity with children, for your constant participation in their children’s worries and joys! Incredible fullness of the educational program with a variety of disciplines (now I also dream that my day starts with yoga or zumba😂), memorable and touching holidays, “author’s” cuisine and a menu that moms cannot compete with when “the most delicious cocoa is prepared only in the garden.” We love you and we are calm when you have a daughter, because you sincerely love us). Thank you for opening the case in which you put so many positive emotions. Your atmosphere is unique and distinguishes you from all competitors with its depth and kindness. Special thanks to our attentive and caring teachers Natalya Vasilievna and Ekaterina Viktorovna! Your daughter loves you and wants to come every morning only to you! Irina, you are a great director who managed to do the most difficult thing – to combine business and a favorite thing that lives in your kind heart and gives parents the opportunity to hear at once: “Mom, why did you come so early?! I want to stay here a little longer!” Thank you! Words cannot express how much it means to hear such a thing from a child or try to explain what kind of days these weekends are, why we don’t go to our favorite garden). I know for sure that incredible success awaits you, if only in the very first year of your work you managed to win children’s hearts so hard!!! We love your friendly family!😍

The best kindergarten for us. Thanks to the teachers, the organizer (Irina) and all the staff. Warm and interested attitude towards children, interesting program (eg Zumba, English, gardening, salt cave courses). You can tell a lot, better come for a trial day, as we did (we go from the opening), to see everything with your own eyes and, most importantly, get the opinion of your own child.

The speech therapist is very good, the child is engaged with pleasure. The territory of the garden is well-groomed, beautiful, the security is vigilant, the groups are not large. At the entrance, a large parrot sits in a cage, a turtle lives and an aquarium with fish.

“1…2…3…mmm…” Your child pauses, brow furrowed while their hand hovers over a fourth cereal piece. Then, with a delighted grin, they pick it up and chow down with a proud shout of, “4!”

Have you ever wondered why kids—especially the under-five set—tend to touch everything they possibly can, from boxes at the grocery store to ants on the sidewalk? Our experts have the answer:

“The early years are when children are completing the foundation they’ll need to learn more advanced concepts—and since children are by nature sensory learners, they build that foundation by smelling, tasting, and touching items,” explains Sue-Ann Lively from KinderCare’s Education team.

And that’s exactly why we dive into the magic of math using sensory twists to keep it fun for our preschoolers, all while prepping them for kindergarten. That means no flashcards here! Take a look.

Hands-On Math Activities in Preschool Set Kids Up for Success in School

Play dough + 1 die + 1 toy hammer = a smashing good time! Kids rolls the die, count out the corresponding number of play dough balls, and whack ‘em with a hammer to build counting skills with a fun, tactile zing that makes learning a piece of cake (er, dough).

“Children need concrete, real-world examples to understand abstract concepts like numbers, meaning flashcards and memorizing a list of numbers tend not to work well for actual comprehension—and that’s why activities like this one are so valuable to the learning process,” explains Lively.

Most of our activities have a sensory component to help kids learn more complex concepts like letters and numbers, because we know how important it is nowadays for preschoolers to be ready for kindergarten (while still having a ton of fun).

But you can jump into the number fun, too! Try some of our hands-on, holiday-themed ideas to help your child build math skills right at home.

3 Holiday Sensory Math Activities for Preschoolers

1. Veggie sorting = learning game

If you’re like us, you’ve already scooped up seasonal root vegetables like beets, squash, carrots, etc. to add to your holiday feast (and if not, no worries—you still have plenty of time). As you get ready to prep your holiday vittles, have your child sort the veggies according to type or size to build math skills.

2. Make a gingerbread house with colorful patterns

Turn this classic holiday experience into a fun patterning activity! Not only does constructing the house itself help with basic engineering know-how, decorating it with rows of gumdrops patterned by color helps build math skills, too.

3. Take advantage of snowy weather to make some snowballs

Every kid loves the chilly thrill of a snowball fight! But before you get into the thick of it, spend some time together making snowballs and turn it into a counting game. Challenge your child to make a certain number of snowballs—and then take a few away and ask them to tell you how many they have left. No snow outside? You can replicate the activity indoors with cotton balls.

description, content, interesting facts and much more about the film

  • Seth Graham Smith was only 12 years old when the original film was released. The producer claims that the picture seriously frightened him, but subsequently he repeatedly revised it. “I became a real fan,” confirms Graham-Smith.
  • When MGM and Orion Pictures decided to relaunch the franchise, Graham-Smith and fellow producer David Katzenberg couldn’t hide their interest. “We didn’t want to do a banal remake of a 1988 movie that introduced one of the most unusual villains in cinematic history,” says Graham-Smith. “We wanted to do something new, something more understandable to a modern audience.” Colleagues puzzled over how to improve the franchise for a long time. “We live in a world where cameras and microphones are everywhere, our gadgets are beginning to communicate with us in a coherent way,” says Graham-Smith of the fruits of thought. – Everything is interconnected. We decided to imagine how Chucky could change if he were not just a toy, but a high-tech gadget with artificial intelligence, such as those toys that are produced by Apple, Amazon or Google – real companions for a child. What happens if such a high-tech device “fails”? What could be the consequences? The producers realized that this would be a new word in a recognizable franchise with an army of fans. “While watching the original film, I was struck by the idea that a toy that every child can have can turn into a real nightmare overnight,” notes Katzenberg. “I was scared the hell out of that fact. I looked at all the toys in my bedroom with different eyes. To this day, I get goosebumps just thinking about it.” In Chucky’s case, this nightmare only intensified. “It’s scary to think that some thing that we regularly use can harm us,” the producer explains.
  • Graham-Smith adds that the redesigned Chucky is even deadlier: “The doll has even more ways to hurt people. Now Chucky is able to control other devices, such as, say, a thermostat, a car, or an automatic vacuum cleaner. He can use anything to scare, maim or kill.” Meet Chucky version 2.0.
  • After meeting with representatives from MGM and Orion, it took Tyler Burton Smith just six weeks to write the script. “He watched all the Chucky movies and then wrote an obscenely good script in no time,” says Graham-Smith.
  • The next step was to find a suitable director, which eventually became Lars Klevberg. “He understood all the nuances of the script well and came up with a lot of unusual ideas,” says Graham-Smith. “He had the right associations, energy and tone of the future film.” Klevberg’s agent told him about the planned reboot of the franchise and asked if he would be interested in this project. In fact, secretly from Klevberg himself, the agent showed the producers the director’s previous Polaroid film, and they really liked the picture.
  • Katzenberg says he remembers well his first conversation with Lars. “I parked the car at the curb to call Lars,” the producer recalls. “We thought that we would limit ourselves to a 15-minute conversation, but as a result we talked for two hours.” During this phone conversation, Lars even played some music that could have been used on a soundtrack. Even on the phone, you could hear how happy he was for this project. “We knew he would be the perfect director,” adds Katzenberg.
  • Klevberg, for his part, thinks Graham-Smith and Katzenberg did an excellent job as producers. “There is a big difference between people who want to produce films and real producers who help a director and support his creative endeavours,” Klevberg chuckles. “Seth and David provided almost complete freedom of action and incredible support, but at the same time they tested and spurred me when circumstances required it. It helped me keep everything under control, because I can easily get off track. It was a pleasure to work with them, and I am grateful to them for a lot. They inspired me and were always on top, knowing exactly what they were doing and how to handle a crisis when things got out of hand. And the situation gets out of control all the time. However, they did not hesitate to ask for help. I can’t imagine better producers.”
  • According to Klevberg, it is extremely important that the story not only frighten the audience, but carry a semantic and emotional load. There must be hidden subtext in the plot. “Reading the script, I couldn’t help but notice how good it is,” says the director. – Much of it was implicit and unobvious. Chucky’s thinking was very interesting and how the doll actually became the Chucky we know. In fact, this topic is closely related to Andy and Chucky’s relationship.”
  • Unlike his predecessors in this film, Chucky understands why he became a villain and has a clear motivation. Klevberg believes that this will make the film even more scary. “We will learn a lot about our antagonist, we will understand why he does this and not otherwise,” the director promises. – The situation will become quite realistic. Chucky’s transformation is beautiful and scary. In general, I always looked at this scenario as a Greek tragedy.
  • The plot brings the viewer to the true confrontation between Chucky and Andy, explaining the point of view of each side of the conflict. What’s more, the audience may even feel more sympathy for the killer doll. “Chucky gets wicked because he talks to people and learns from them,” explains Klevberg. “He does what he thinks is good, but his actions are impulsive [and indicate a lack of knowledge about how the world works].” This leads to tragic consequences.
  • Klevberg is convinced that the film is so scary because the main antagonist is something that should soothe and delight. “As children, we imagined dolls alive, talked to them, and they, in turn, protected us. Well, you understand, – continues the director. “The film demonstrates that the doll can also be threatening, which scared me a lot as a child.”
  • Along with Graham Smith and Katzenberg, Klevberg felt a responsibility to the fans of the franchise to create a realistic Chucky. “You need to respect the original film, but at the same time we wanted to shoot our own unique story, which our wonderful screenwriter came up with,” says the director. “We all had a responsibility to make a good film while maintaining what made the franchise popular in the first place. ” The director adds that he drew inspiration from “Alien”, the Swedish horror movie “Let Me In”, “Frankenstein” based on the book by Mary Shelley and even “Pinocchio”.
  • Nine months after the first meeting, the film’s crew began work in Vancouver, British Columbia. “Everything worked out very well, so I could only thank fate,” says Katzenberg.
  • First of all, the film, of course, was supposed to be scary. Given that the scenes were filmed out of order, it was necessary to carefully monitor the overall mood of the picture. “There will be a lot of scary things in the tape,” says Graham-Smith. – Sudden horror stories, an emotionally unbalanced killer doll, the very possibility of the situation described in the plot. Returning home, the audience will catch themselves thinking that they also have many devices and gadgets. Involuntarily, the audience will think that the nightmare described in the film can happen to them too … The plot of the picture 19’88 seemed fantastic. 2019 Chucky could really kill you.”
  • Talking about the casting, Graham-Smith notes that “they wanted to make the film better than anyone could expect.” And an important part of the implementation of this plan was the selection of talented and unusual actors who could convey all the emotional vicissitudes of the film’s characters, literally characters.
  • Aubrey Plaza is best known for her comedy roles, and the role in the film was actually her first experience in the horror genre, which her older sister forced her to watch together as a child. Plaza admits that she loves the feeling of fear, but she dislikes many horror films because they contain nothing but violence, torture and murder. She has turned down many horror roles in the past. “It’s true that I’m not particularly interested in running from some maniac who will try to stick a kitchen knife into me,” the actress explains, “but if the embodiment of evil is a doll, then this is already interesting.” Plaza notices that she quickly got used to the new genre. In the very first scene, she was tied up and hung by the neck in some kind of gloomy barn, the walls of which were smeared with blood and dung. The actress describes all this very succinctly: “Ugly nightmarish delights.”
  • The film gave the actress an opportunity to try her hand at an unfamiliar role. “Reading the script, I could not help but notice that the role of Karen is unusual for me, and therefore even more interesting,” Plaza recalls. “I hadn’t played the part of mothers yet, so the whole idea of playing a young single mother appealed to me very much.” Plaza herself is an early child, so for her this work has become special. “The role allowed me to study the whole ins and outs of my character and present her to the audience in such a way that the audience will involuntarily begin to worry about her,” the actress continues. “She does not lose her sense of humor, although, of course, the struggle for survival is fraught with monstrous stress.”
  • When the producers heard that Plaza was interested in the project, they couldn’t believe their luck. “We were dumbfounded,” says Graham-Smith. “I guess we didn’t pick Aubrey Plaza, she picked us.” And although the role was new for the actress, it was not difficult to imagine her in this role. “I have to admit, the scenes with Aubrey were my favorite in the film,” continues the producer. – I got aesthetic pleasure, watching her acting, how she gets used to the role of Karen. We have been watching her career for a long time and with interest. She brought a wonderful emotional and intellectual energy to the film.”
  • Plaza played the role of Karen, a single mother who struggles to provide for her son Andy. It is not always easy, she works hard so that the boy does not need anything. She wants him to experience life and make friends, and seeks to give him even what she sometimes cannot afford. On occasion, she manages to buy a used toy and give it to her son. She could not imagine that the gift would turn into a nightmare.
  • The role of Karen’s son was played by Gabrielm Bateman. Plaza made friends with the boy, which had the best effect on the film. The actors first met on the plane on the way to Vancouver, they sat side by side. It so happened that it was on that day that Gabriel had a birthday. Aubrey had just finished reading a youth novel, which she really liked, and when Gabriel fell asleep, she signed the book and hid it under the boy’s chair so that he would find it when he woke up. Bateman and Plaza got to know each other well off-screen, they played billiards and bowling, went hiking, climbed, watched movies, visited old churches, in short, spent a lot of time together. “He may have told you that I suck at bowling, but I really don’t,” Plaza smiles. “He really doesn’t know how to play.” Seriously, Plaza adds: “Gabriel is a real movie star. He is unbearably talented, loves to tease me and constantly says that I am doing something wrong, but this is all because deep down he loves me and understands that I am better than him. We have a special relationship with him. We are constantly trying to knock the ground out from under each other. But I’m older, so he doesn’t stand a chance.”
  • Another surprise may be the appearance on the screens of Brian Tyree Henry. He played the role of Detective Mike Norris, a police officer who grew up in the house that Andy and Karen moved into. He is a hard worker, accustomed to doing everything according to the rules. “When we first saw Brian as Mike, we looked at each other and understood without words that he was exactly what we needed,” recalls Katzenberg. “He brought a lot of things to the role that we might not have thought of ourselves. In addition, Brian almost immediately found a common language with Aubrey and Gabriel. We were incredibly lucky that all the actors accepted their roles.” Graham-Smith joins in: “Bryan is a true encyclopedia of the franchise, that’s who the real fan is. He had an answer to almost every question we could have.”
  • Tyree Henry confirms: “I love horror movies. Ask anyone who knows me and they’ll tell you I’m a fan of the genre.
  • The actor read the script rather quickly. “It’s Chucky! he exclaims. – I remember very well when the first film was released, although I was only six years old then. I grew up with sisters who tried to bully me with horror movies. Only now, to their deepest disappointment, I was not afraid, because I liked such a movie. He demanded from the sisters again and again to take cassettes with films of the franchise to video rentals and literally stuck to the screen. For such a fan, the question of participation in the project was not even raised. “Everyone on set was a fan of the genre in general and the franchise in particular,” says Katzenberg. “Chucky turned out so cool precisely because everyone sincerely cared for the project.” “I was incredibly happy to work with such an impressive cast,” admits Klevberg. “They were all first on my list of contenders for the roles and they worked really well together. I think that thanks to their efforts, the film will become even better than we originally intended. The guys actually revived our idea.”
  • It was very important for filmmakers who would voice the killer doll. The ideal contender was the legendary actor Mark Hamill. Graham-Smith says, “We offered him this job without any hope of success, but he said, ‘Yes.’ He was first on the list of possible applicants, we could not believe that everything turned out so well. “Firstly, it takes an enviable talent to voice such a legendary character,” continues the producer, “and the fact that we managed to interest Mark Hamill himself, who is a cinema legend himself, is amazing. He approached the work very energetically and seriously. We were all fascinated by the way he creates his character, how he gets used to the role. Personally, I just sat in a corner and watched Mark work in the sound studio. It was an unforgettable sight.” “I never imagined Mark Hamill would be interested in the film I was writing for,” says TylerBurton Smith. It’s Mark Hamill! Prescribing the character, I did not think about who would voice it. When I was told that Chucky would speak in Mark’s voice, I thought it was really cool. His voice suits our Chucky perfectly. It certainly differs from the tone of the original film, and yet it was the real Chucky.”
  • Of course, the film about Chucky will not do without scary and humorous moments, but the film is still based on the emotional conflict between the characters. “The actors will surprise the audience in many ways, there will be many moments for which it is simply impossible to prepare oneself,” says Klevberg. – The most wonderful part of being a director is that actors can surprise you with their unusual approaches to playing roles. When you work with wonderful actors, they often spoil the director with such surprises. My task is only to monitor the observance of the general course. But cinema is a team game, and everyone makes their own contribution to make the film a success.”
  • “I have something for you,” Plaza’s character says in the film to her son. In an interview, the actress adds from herself: “. .. this is a devilish doll that will kill us.” But if in the original film Chucky was the spirit of a serial killer who possessed a doll and terrorized the characters in the picture, the image of the modern Chucky is based on the fears that are relevant for 2019. “We really rely too much on automation,” says Tyree Henry. – All our data is stored in virtual clouds, and we are completely dependent on it. It’s hard to imagine a better time to shoot a remake of KIDS PLAY, because most adults today have their own “children’s games” … We are all a little slaves of technological progress. I always wince when young people start talking with devices: “Hey Google! Do that! Okay Google! Turn it up! It seems that they have a better relationship with gadgets than with real people.”
  • What struck Tyree Henry the most about the script was that towards the end, the audience would begin to empathize with Chucky. “I myself was worried about the fate of Chucky,” the actor admits. – He is a toy programmed by people, this is the drama of the situation. The doll was programmed to be the best friend for the child, so in a sense, CHILDREN’S GAMES is a melodrama. Chucky has a lot of emotions built in from the start, plus he’s self-taught. The nightmare begins just when he starts to learn.”
  • Plaza remarks that she also liked the main theme of the film. “I myself am disgusted by the attachment to technology and gadgets,” the actress says. – It is still difficult to predict how technological progress will affect society globally. But I hope that sooner or later we will look back and think: “Wow, this situation is really out of control.” So our film can be prophetic.”
  • Klevberg’s original intention was that the world of the film should be shown through the eyes of a child. “Lars set priorities almost immediately: we had to make a film for a young audience with clear references to Amblin’s 80s films,” says production designer Dan Hermansen. “There is a nostalgic touch to the film, even though we are talking about modern or even more advanced technology.
  • Hermansen strove to create a sufficiently old world of everyday life – with its own history and aged textures. “The world of the film is an older copy of our world with a romantically dilapidated setting,” the artist describes. “There is nothing new and brilliant there. Each subject has its own character and a flight of history. The softness and warmth of the design contrasts favorably with the gloomy history. “For me, finding places and objects that evoke certain emotions is of great importance,” the artist explains.
  • In the story, Andy and his mother move into an old building. It is felt that this building was once almost majestic, but it has seen a lot and dilapidated. Wallpaper peeling off, eviction notices, frayed carpets, subdued lighting and, as you might guess, grouchy, always disgruntled neighbors everywhere. Karen goes to work every day at Zed-Mart, an equally shabby 60s building that has seen better days both visually and financially. It cannot be said that the supermarket is in perfect condition. In general, our world is far from being an ideal world.
  • One of Klevberg’s favorite locations was the Zed-Mart warehouse, where Hermansen laid out the assembled parts of dolls and toys. In combination with subdued lighting and light haze, a very gloomy atmosphere was created. “This is how a child should imagine a warehouse, so the spectacle turned out to be terrifying,” says the artist. “It’s a broken world of broken toys.” An ominous feeling was created with the help of insignificant details, for example, unusual masks in Andy’s room. “Lars pays a lot of attention to the little things,” says Hermansen. He seems to notice literally everything. He clearly understands what he wants to see in the frame, so it was much easier for us to work, to realize his vision.”
  • Cinematographer Brendan Wegama is intimately familiar with atmospheric, dark portrayals, having previously worked on Chilling Adventures of Sabrina and Riverdale. Together with Klevberg, he not only found the perfect balance of light and shadow, creating an unsettling feeling, but also made the image very colorful. In working on the picture, the duo drew inspiration from hundreds, if not thousands, of photographs. However, the Spielberg films of the 80s, such as “The Extra-Terrestrial”, were a key source. “Andy’s room is very colorful,” says Uegama. We let a lot of light into the room through the window, because it should seem safer than all other rooms. When the action moves outside or into another room, the locations should appear drab and lifeless.”
  • Even for adults, the nursery has become a favorite location. “While designing the nursery, I furnished the room with items that I liked,” explains Hermansen. “I was trying to create the illusion of security. According to the plot of the film in the nursery, Chucky and Andy meet and become friends. It was this room that became Andy’s saving place when he was uncomfortable in other rooms or anywhere else outside the house. When Shane [her boyfriend] came to see Karen, Andy retired to the nursery, where he was calm and good. Over time, Chucky becomes familiar with Andy’s daily life and the magic begins. “The toy comes to life and becomes a real friend for Endin,” says Uegama. “As their friendship deepens, the child essentially becomes a full-fledged character.”
  • There are plenty of smoke effects in the film, but Lars doesn’t think there’s too much smoke. “I adore the work of Italian artists and noir,” admits the director. I like the contrast and there will be a lot of dark moments in the film. But the most interesting thing is that in doing so we made the picture very colorful.” The smoke helped Uegama create textures that gave the picture life and dimension. “There is a feeling of realism of what is happening,” the operator explains. “The picture is deeper, more layered and richer.”
  • In general, layering has become the main task of the operator. This applied both to the dilapidated furnishings and to the arrangement of the light so that the emerging shadows created an unsettling, depressing atmosphere.
  • There is always something hiding in the shadows. “Sometimes we relied only on the play of light and shadow, illuminating the scenery with just a few household lights,” recalls production designer Dan Hermansen. “In general, in our film there is a lot of play of light and shadow.”
  • The operator also contributed to the tense atmosphere. “When things got hot in the movie, it affected the camera movement as well,” says Uegama. “Lars himself insisted that the camera move slower than usual …” By the way, in the scenes when the children played carelessly, the camera moved accordingly – quickly, chaotically and freely.
  • Working with the Chucky doll was also a challenge. One was that extra time was required and the filming schedule was very tight. “This is not an ordinary actor who can easily go on set and play his part,” explains Uegama. “You need to put him on the set and make him walk, you need to make sure that nothing superfluous gets into the frame, and this all requires additional time.” In addition, many puppeteers remained behind the scenes, setting in motion different parts of the puppet, in connection with which it was necessary to choose one or another, not always favorable angle.
  • Uegama claims that for him, bringing Chucky back to life was something he would never forget. It was a miracle akin to the revival of Pinocchio. By the way, it was this character that inspired Lars Klevberg while working on a more advanced version of Chaka. “At the beginning of the film, the doll seems ossified and not so mobile, but over time it comes to life, acquiring more and more skills and abilities,” the director explains.
  • After reading the script, Klevberg understood how he wanted to see the doll in the frame. He spent many months working with the artists on sketches, going through different options for the exterior of the doll, working on the design of the packaging and details of the face so that the doll looks like the one that can be purchased in 2019.year. Overall, according to Klevberg, Chucky had to be attractive enough to be noticed on the counter by parents, and cool enough to appeal to children.
  • “When you’re dealing with such a legendary character, you have to come up with something new, but at the same time pay homage to Chaka’s legacy,” says Graham-Smith.

The Real Reason Taco Bell Will Only Pay Some Managers $100K Per Year

    By Joel Stice/Feb. 28, 2020 2:45 pm EST

Working in fast food doesn’t exactly have a reputation for paying the big bucks, even for those in management. According to PayScale, the average salary for a fast food general manager in the United States is around $41,000 a year. That’s not bad, but it’s not exactly lucrative either. Pile on an extra $60,000? Now we’re talkin’. Taco Bell recently announced a serious pay raise of some of its managers with salaries that are in the $100,000 range (via MarketWatch).

To put that in perspective, that pay isn’t actually all that much lower than what a Taco Bell franchise owner would make. Not every Taco Bell manager will be making this much, however, and the fast food chain definitely has a strategic reason for offering the six-figure salary.

It’s Taco Bell’s way of keeping employees

    Joshua Blanchard/Getty Images

Food industry publication QSR Magazine’s editorial director Sam Oches said that the salary bump is all about attracting better talent to its restaurants.  “In today’s environment, though, it’s more competitive than ever,” Oches explained (via WBUR). “And so some of these restaurants are looking for ways that they can invest in their employees so that they can limit their turnover and keep their employees at their restaurants and not go to competitors.”

Considering that fast food restaurants are regularly engaged in everything from “chicken sandwich wars” to “fish wars” and “breakfast wars,” this makes a lot of sense. Fast food restaurants see a lot of turnover at all levels, and the fast food manager job can be high-pressure with a constant demand for speed. Oches explained Taco Bell’s hope that if lower-level employees see the high dollar potential, they’ll be less likely to jump ship and opt for working their way up the ladder instead.

The $100,000 salary will likely only come into play, though, at corporate-operated Taco Bells that pull in over $2 million a year.

Taco Bell managers make more than McDonald’s

Even at Taco Bells where general managers aren’t making six figures, Taco Bell still seems to beat out many of their fast food competitors when it comes to pay.  “If you’re in a town with a McDonald’s and a Burger King and a Subway and a Taco Bell, and Taco Bell’s paying the most — there’s gonna be more demand for that position,” explained Oches.

It’s not uncommon for crew members in cities with a competitive labor market to make $10 to $12 an hour and GMs to make close to $80,000. A Taco Bell general manager on Reddit said their salary was between $55 and $70k — and that was eight years ago. For comparison, a McDonald’s general manager on Reddit in 2017 said they made $45,000 a year.

Money isn’t everything, of course, but when there’s not that much difference in the job duties, money really can make all the difference.

How Much Do Professional Gms Make?

There is no one answer to this question as professional game managers can make a wide range of salaries depending on their experience, the size of the company they work for, and the specific game they are managing. Generally speaking, professional game managers can expect to make anywhere from $50,000 to $100,000 per year.

The salaries of NFL general managers are widely varying, ranging from $1 million to $7.5 million per year on the low end of the scale, and up to $15 million on the high end. As tempting as it may appear, keep in mind that the highest-paid player in the league, Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers, has a starting salary of more than $26 million. Because the NFL teams collectively are worth around $4 billion, it comes as a surprise that the league’s front offices are so low-paid. According to reports, Roger G. Goodell, the NFL commissioner, earns approximately $64 million per year. According to online sports betting sites in the United States, Brandon Beane is the favorite to win the Super Bowl as the Buffalo Bills’ general manager.

NFL general managers make a lot of money because they are the highest-profile and most lucrative positions in sports. A general manager in the NFL is typically paid $3 million per year, according to Salary.com. As a general manager, you will have a different number of employees depending on your experience and position in the organization. A GM with 10 years of experience can expect to earn $1.5 million, whereas one with no experience can expect to earn $1 million. Similarly, the highest-paid NFL players earn significantly more than the average general manager. The NFL’s 75th-highest-paid general manager earns $79,500 per year, while the league’s top earners earn $160,000 per year. What other job makes more than NFL GM? While the NFL general manager position is one of the most lucrative, it is not the only one that pays more than this.

What Does A General Manager At Mcdonald’s Do?

The general manager at McDonald’s is responsible for the overall operation of the restaurant. This includes managing the crew, handling customer complaints, and making sure the food is prepared correctly. The general manager also ensures that the restaurant is clean and presentable to customers.

General Managers at McDonald’s franchise-owned restaurants have a competitive pay, 5 to 10 days paid vacation, dental, vision, and other benefits, so their time off may be well worth it. In this case, the GM has the opportunity to collaborate with other franchisees to create a fun and stress-free workplace. However, as a result of the fast-paced and demanding work environment that they are in, GMs frequently underpaid for their efforts. Working in a franchise is a fantastic option for someone who wants to work for a company rather than one who works at home because the GM will most likely be more hands-on and have more control over the company’s operations.

The Role Of A General Manager At Mcdonald’s

To run a profitable McDonald‘s restaurant, the General Manager must ensure that the restaurant meets the chain’s quality, service, and cleanliness standards. There are very strict requirements for this position, so it is extremely important. In addition to hiring staff, establishing the budget, and launching price promotions that may attract more customers, the General Manager is in charge of marketing and distributing the company’s products. McDonald’s has a strong reputation for high quality, so the General Manager is in charge of ensuring that these standards are met at all times. Working in this type of position can be extremely demanding and time-consuming. As a General Manager at a McDonald’s Franchise restaurant, you will have the opportunity to earn a lot of money, including paid vacations, health insurance, dental insurance, and vision insurance.

According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the average wage for all occupations in the United States is $48. It is true that all occupations in the United States earn an average of $27.92 per hour. A restaurant’s return on investment, whether you slice it or not, is poor. McDonald’s, for example, had a net income of around $150,000 per restaurant, according to the chain. Despite this, even McDonald’s does not generate good returns on investment because a franchise costs more than $1 million and can easily be run for more than $2 million. However, at the highest level of seniority, the salary rises to PHP 31,157 per year, starting at PHP 30,824. It’s a good start, but it won’t be enough for a family to survive. As a result, if you want to work in the restaurant industry, you’ll need to be prepared to work long hours and earn less money than you would in other professions.

The Pros And Cons Of Owning A Mcdonald’s Franchise

The guys hacked into an ice cream machine – and started a cold war with its manufacturer / Habr

The production of soft ice cream in fast food is a huge business. This delicacy is produced by very sophisticated machines. They are installed in almost every McDonald’s and other restaurants under exclusive contracts with the manufacturer. The price of such a machine is $18,000. And they break down almost every month. Servicing also results in a serious amount every month – and it is allowed to be carried out only by an official distributor.

This Wired story is about two hackers who hacked into the inside of a Taylor C602 ice cream machine, deciphered an undocumented service code (5-2-3-1-then 16 more digits) and built a device to self-diagnose the machine. For this, the manufacturer arranged a real hunt for the guys.

Taylor ice cream machines are installed in McDonald’s restaurants around the world (13,000 in the US). They have a reputation for being extremely fragile and unreliable, as well as being difficult to maintain and completely unfriendly to the user.

Due to the many questionable engineering decisions, they fail so often that they have become a real meme on social networks.

But the most surprising thing is that despite the constant breakdowns, McDonald’s still buys these devices from the food equipment giant Taylor for about $ 18,000, and the manufacturer still keeps the internal structure of the machines a secret from the buyer. What’s more, Taylor maintains a network of approved distributors who charge franchisees thousands of dollars a year for costly maintenance contracts, and on-call technicians come in and enter that secret passcode into the customer’s devices.

This secret menu is part of a special business model that goes beyond the right to repair. According to the hackers, this is real extortion :

    1. Sell a complex and fragile car to a franchisee.
    2. Don’t explain why it keeps breaking.
    3. Get a share of distributors’ profits from repairs.

That’s a lot of cash flow considering the tens of thousands of ice cream machines installed. According to the hackers, McDonald’s is also involved in this scheme, insisting on loyalty to its longtime supplier (if you dare to put another ice cream machine other than Taylor, the company can terminate the restaurant’s lease, in accordance with the franchise agreement).

The two who dared to challenge the corporation are 34-year-old Jeremy O’Sullivan and 33-year-old Melissa Nelson.

    Photo: Gabriela Hasburn

They started a little gadget called Kytch. It installs in Taylor’s car and connects to Wi-Fi. Essentially, it hacks into the machine and provides access to a secret diagnostic menu. Kytch acts as a watchdog inside the machine, intercepting and eavesdropping on messages between components and forwarding them to a friendlier user interface than the manufacturer. The device not only displays all the hidden internal data, but saves logs and even offers troubleshooting solutions – all via the web or mobile application.

    Kytch device

Very convenient for the restaurant owner. He can save a lot of money if he starts to fix some problems with the machine himself.

But as soon as O’Sullivan and Nelson began selling the hacker gadget, McDonald’s sent a warning to all franchisees that the Kytch device was “copying sensitive information” from machines and could cause “serious personal injury.” This ruined their business: now customers are simply afraid to buy a device, and old subscribers refuse it.

As soon as McDonald’s and Taylor learned of Kytch’s early success, a two-year cold war began, which is now getting hot. At one point, Taylor even hired private detectives to get hold of these devices. Eventually, Taylor introduced its own competing internet-connected monitoring gadget. And McDonald’s began to put pressure on franchisees by sending threatening letters.

After watching the efforts of McDonald’s and Taylor to destroy their business within five months of these letters, the guys now went on the counterattack. A pair of hacker-entrepreneurs are planning to file a lawsuit against some McDonald’s franchisees who they believe colluded with Taylor by giving their devices to Kytch and allowing them to be reverse engineered in violation of the franchisee’s agreement with Kytch. The lawsuit is likely to be just the first step in Kytch’s long-term legal battle against Taylor and McDonald’s.

At the center of the conflict is the most complex Taylor C602 unit, which is sometimes compared in complexity to an Italian sports car.

The main characteristic of an ice cream machine is productivity. Hundreds of complex components of this machine are designed by engineers to achieve this goal. Like other similar devices, Taylor C602 takes liquid ingredients through a hopper (hopper), quickly freezes them in a rotating drum, skimming tiny sheets of frozen mixture from the cold metal surface of the drum using scraper blades, repeatedly mixes the mixture to dissolve as much ice as possible. crystals and then pushes it through the nozzle into a waiting cup or waffle cone.

But what makes the machine special are the two hoppers and two drums, each working independently with precise settings to produce both milkshakes and soft ice cream at the same time. To speed up the flow of ice cream through the nozzle, a special pump is used here, which competitors do not have. During peak minutes, the machine is capable of delivering up to 10 portions of ice cream per minute, which is impossible in other machines.

The notoriously finicky and fragile Taylor ice cream machines are used by virtually every major fast food chain, including most McDonald’s restaurants in the US and tens of thousands of other restaurants around the world.

And while other ice cream machines have to be taken apart and cleaned daily and any remaining contents thrown away, Taylor machines use a daily “cooking” process designed to raise the temperature of the contents to 66°C, pasteurize for a minimum of 30 minutes, and then freezing again in a cycle once a night, which is a real miracle of hygiene and cost savings.

But like Italian sports cars, these cars are just as whimsical, fragile and ridiculously overloaded with details. They work great as long as everything is 100% perfect. If something went wrong, it leads to a crash.

All of these Taylor machine components need to be disassembled, cleaned and lubricated every two weeks . If you forget to insert at least one gasket back, the machine fails. It is not always possible to successfully assemble the machine the first time

Every two weeks, all of Taylor’s precisely engineered components must be disassembled and disinfected. Some parts should be thoroughly lubricated. These are at least two dozen rubber and plastic o-rings of various sizes. Forget one and the pump may fail or liquid ingredients may leak out of the machine. The technical manager of one McDonald’s franchisee said that he assembled Taylor ice cream machines more than a hundred times – and on the first attempt, it worked no more than 10 times. These are very picky cars.

The automatic overnight pasteurization process, instead of making life easier, has become the biggest problem: if the machine has too much or too little mixture of ingredients in the hopper, or if it is accidentally turned off at the wrong moment, or if one of the many other trivial errors occurs , then the four-hour pasteurization process will fail and give some standard, incomprehensible error message. This means that the machine will not operate until all four hours of heating and freezing have been repeated, often during peak ice cream sales hours.

It’s no surprise that machines often break down.

According to statistics from McBroken.com, at any given time in the past two months, anywhere from 5% to 16% of all American McDonald’s cannot sell ice cream.

Many companies are resisting the movement for freedom to repair devices by anyone with the opening of documentation, from Apple to John Deere: see the article US farmers are forced to hack tractors just to fix them. But few of these products need repairs as often as McDonald’s ice cream machines. The company itself acknowledges the problem: “We have a joke about our ice cream machines, but we are afraid that this joke does not work”:

This tweet received 29k likes. Everyone knows that McDonald’s ice cream machines often break down. Hundreds of people are joking that they are willing to spend their covid allowances on fixing an ice cream machine in their restaurant.

O’Sullivan and Nelson met at Bucknell University (Pennsylvania), began dating in the late 2000s, and then both worked as economists at different firms: Deloitte and Ernst & Young. But the work was extremely boring. A few years later, they brainstormed and drew attention to the new American craze for frozen yogurt.

This business was basically built around a lot of ice cream machines – mostly Taylor machines. It worked just like ice cream, but without the pasteurization step, which kills the bacteria in the yogurt. But the ice cream vendors paid hundreds of square feet of real estate rent and staff salaries. Economic engineers decided that the frozen yogurt industry was ripe for revolutionary automation.

So they started developing a device they called the Frobot: a bulky case, like a Taylor car cabinet, with its own TV-sized touch interface and card reader. In other words, they set out to make an automated frozen yogurt shop. The guys hoped to install Frobot in public places, where it would generate passive income.

    Frobot

It took them three years to build the first Frobot prototype using a privately advertised Taylor machine. And it took some help from third-party engineers who were hired under the contract. After a test run in the cafeteria of a local medical school, Nelson and O’Sullivan set up Frobot in a Washington DC co-working space, and business went off the rails. The couple quit their jobs and moved to San Francisco to run their startup full-time. The next-generation Frobot was installed at the Palais des Beaux-Arts, where it started earning $500 a day.

But now the inventors had a problem: they wanted their machine to be completely autonomous and operate with minimal human intervention. National Sanitation Foundation regulations required periodic monitoring of product temperatures. This temperature data was hidden in Taylor’s car where they could not access it. However, they accidentally saw a technician from a certified distributor enter the secret code 5-2-3-1 on the machine, which was not mentioned anywhere in the owner’s manual.

Around the same time, at a seminar, O’Sullivan met famed hacker Andrew ‘Bunny’ Huang, who first hacked the Xbox 20 years ago. O’Sullivan and Nelson asked him to conduct a technical review of the device: can temperature data be obtained from the machine and sent in real time to a remote interface?

In late 2016, O’Sullivan and his contract engineer moved to Shenzhen to fully immerse themselves in reverse engineering. They rented a warehouse space above one of the city’s major electronics markets in order to quickly purchase the necessary components there in the process of work.

Andrew Huang figured out the machine and explained to the children that the Taylor machine, like many food processing machines, is essentially ancient technology that hasn’t changed fundamentally in 50 years. This is really the Middle Ages by the standards of modern electronics.

However, O’Sullivan and the engineer made some headway and four months later built the device that would become the Kytch, a hacker device that strips data from a machine and allows it to comply with US health regulations.

Taylor supported their work at the time. The company even sent their ice cream machine to them in Shenzhen. After all, Frobot represented Taylor less of a competitor than a new source of sales, or even a whole new automated market for its machines.

In 2017, Frobot machines began to gain popularity. Tesla installed two in the factory canteen. Six more were installed at the large Levi’s Stadium, and the owners of the football team invested in Nelson and O’Sullivan’s company. Taylor was extremely pleased.

But over time, businessmen noticed the constant mysterious crashes and error messages that all Taylor’s customers complained about. The machines gave messages that the freeze mix was too cold. Or too hot. Or too sticky. They soon found themselves making constant trips to the stadium to help the staff troubleshoot and restore the Taylor machines inside their automata. Andrew Huang was right: jetio is extremely unreliable and ancient technology from the Middle Ages.

The problems went so far that surveillance cameras had to be installed in Frobot’s cabinets. They filmed videos of what could go wrong inside. It soon became clear that the business was not automated at all. In fact, no one at Levi’s Stadium or Tesla was able to maintain the machines without the constant hands-on help of the Frobot founders. And the problem was the extremely unreliable Taylor car.

It began to dawn on O’Sullivan and Nelson that they would have to turn around. And they had already unwittingly created a prototype for another product that offered a solution to this problem. Over the next year, they honed a small Frobot computer component that listened to data from Taylor ice cream machines to see and control all of the machine’s settings, including automatic bypass of the 5-2-3-1 code to access the service menu, a software interface for diagnostics and troubleshooting. numerous failures. The device is based on Raspberry Pi.

    Kytch

In April 2019, they relaunched their company, this time under the name Kytch. Nelson toured the San Francisco suburbs looking for restaurants that use Taylor cars. All of these restaurants were offered a six-month free trial, followed by a $10 per month subscription. The first customers were at Burger King and Super Duper Burgers. Gradually, the businessmen were reaching out to potentially the biggest customer ever, using the most sophisticated version of the ice cream machine: McDonald’s.

Most restaurant owners have never had access to, or even heard of, the service menu in the car. The manufacturer deliberately kept it a secret in order to prevent car owners from independently diagnosing. Meanwhile, many McDonald’s owners were paying thousands of dollars a month to Taylor distributors for service. Often maintenance consisted of simple settings that were made through a secret menu. So the developers added a feature to Kytch called Kytch Assist that could automatically detect some of the machine’s common errors when they happened and automatically adjust those hidden variables to prevent some crashes before they happened. The device is installed independently in 20 minutes using a screwdriver.

One franchisee reported that a machine at one of his restaurants broke down virtually every week due to a mysterious failure during the pasteurization cycle. He carefully studied the assembly of the machine again and again, but to no avail. The Kytch installation immediately showed that an overzealous employee was putting too much mix into one of the bins. Another technician said that Kytch “easily saves thousands of dollars a month” despite the fact that the company then doubled the price and added $250 per activation.

Even if Kytch does not fix the problem, it sends an email notification to the owner describing the problem. This is very valuable information that allows you to quickly repair the car.

Word spread rapidly among McDonald’s franchisees and Kytch sales began to double every quarter. O’Sullivan and Nelson hired a third full-time employee. By the fall of 2020, more than 500 devices had been installed and infiltrated Taylor ice cream machines around the world. But the ice cream empire was already preparing a retaliatory strike.

Within two days of Kytch’s launch in late April 2019, O’Sullivan and Nelson noticed that an executive from Taylor had placed an order for the device. The guys were wary, canceled the order and returned the money to him.

A couple of months later, they saw another odd order, this time from an employee at an outside law firm that worked with Taylor. Over the following months, suspicious orders continued. The owners canceled all these orders. Taylor could not be allowed to get the device.

One day I received an order from some unknown person. After searching LinkedIn, he was identified as an employee of Marksmen, a private detective firm that specializes in intellectual property matters. Apparently, Taylor hired private detectives: they used fake names to get a device that hacked into their cars.

Around the same time, Nelson and O’Sullivan received a letter from Taylor asking them to stop using their brand at food trade shows. The days of friendship with Taylor are officially over.

The war started on November 2, 2020. A Kytch salesperson forwarded an email to Nelson and O’Sullivan, which McDonald’s sent out to all franchisees. It warns that installing Kytch will void warranties on Taylor machines. In addition, the letter states that Kytch is “gaining full access to all equipment controllers and sensitive data”, that this “poses a potentially very serious security risk to personnel or technicians who attempt to clean or repair the machine”, and that this could lead to to “serious human injury”. McDonald’s strongly recommended that the Kytch device be removed from all machines and discontinued.

The next day, McDonald’s announced a new machine called the Taylor Shake Sundae Connectivity that essentially duplicates many of the features of the Kytch. The company again reminded all franchisees to remove and not use a third-party gadget.

Over the following months, McDonald’s restaurant owners canceled hundreds of Kytch subscriptions, trials, and commitments. It became impossible to find new clients. Kytch’s only salesperson quit.

Taylor now categorically states that it did not copy the Kytch device and did not intend to do so. According to them, a similar device has been developed for many years. None of the franchisees who spoke to Wired had ever seen or even heard of such a device.

After McDonald’s and Taylor bombarded the startup, Nelson and O’Sullivan concluded that somehow the companies had gotten their hands on the Kytch device. They investigated and found double agent Tyler Gamble, a friendly top manager from the largest McDonald’s franchisee chain, who confessed his love for Kytch and promised mountains of gold, was personally friends with the founders of the startup, and behind their back handed over the device to corporations, although this was prohibited by the conditions use. A friend committed a cold-blooded betrayal and actually killed a startup.

But now Nelson and O’Sullivan are planning revenge and are preparing a lawsuit. It will be based on the fact that Gamble and some other users violated the user agreement when they gave Taylor their Kytch devices in an attempt to curry favor with McDonald’s and its corporate allies.

Lawsuit filed May 10, 2021 against Taylor and his distributor TFG for allegedly stealing trade secrets.

At the same time, Taylor claims that she never had a Kytch device. Regardless of how the legal conflict unfolds, veteran Kytch tech advisor hacker Bunny Huang argues that McDonald’s and Taylor’s efforts to crush the tiny startup represent a form of recognition:

“When the big guys come in and start beating their chests, it’s kind of an admission that you’re a threat to the alpha male,” says Huang, who still owns a small stake in the company. “It shows that there was a demand for the Kytch device and it is truly a revolutionary device. When that happens, if the big guys can’t or won’t embrace the idea, sometimes it’s easier for them to kill the startup and bury the body.”

As for Nelson and O’Sullivan, they have no illusions. O’Sullivan admits that he views this article in Wired as a posthumous description of his company after it was killed by the fast food superpowers. “You’re sort of writing our obituary,” O’Sullivan told the article’s author, Andy Greenberg.

But the battle isn’t really over yet. The company is still alive.

The tiny startup continues to fight a fierce battle. O’Sullivan reminds once again what the battle is about – around such a trivial thing as ice cream cone : “We want the world to know about this, because it is so … I mean, it’s about ice cream! » he says with irritation.

O’Sullivan walks past a McDonald’s with a broken ice cream machine and says gloomily, “That car. The guys haven’t found the secret code yet…”

Working during a crisis (survey results)

772 people were interviewed from November 27 to December 4, 2008. Only data on Ukraine was taken into account, 53% of the respondents (412 people) were from Kyiv, the rest from other cities of Ukraine: Lviv, Kharkov, Dnepropetrovsk, Odessa, Vinnytsia and others.

    Professional level of respondents

    Layoffs / layoffs

83% of respondents (641 people) reported that they had no changes. 4.4% of respondents (34 people) were fired, 3.1% (24 people) changed jobs on their own initiative. 0.9 was sent on a free vacation% (7 people), the work week was reduced for 1.7% (13 people). The remaining almost 7% (53 people) reported that they now have “more work for the same money.”

    Changes with work, %

    Salaries

65% of respondents (503 people) reported that their salary has not changed. For 11.4% (88 people) there was an expected salary increase. 9.7% (75 people) did not receive the expected increase, almost the same number – 9.3% (72 people) announced that wage growth was “frozen” for the time being. They cut wages for 4.3% of those surveyed, of which 2.33% (18 people) said they had their wages cut by more than 10%.

    Salary changes, %

    Falling of the hryvnia

For 18.8% (145 people), the fall of the hryvnia was only at hand — they claim that they receive their salaries in US dollars. Another 35.5% receive a salary in hryvnia, but at an exchange rate quite close to the market one. The remaining 45.7% were less fortunate. For 21.4% (165 people), the calculations are still carried out at the “summer” (pre-crisis) dollar rate. 6.21% (48 people) transferred to hryvnia settlements, 18.1% (140 people) already receive 100% white salary in hryvnia. Unfortunately, according to our questionnaire, it is not clear at what rate the last two groups of respondents receive their salaries.

    Payments of dollar salaries, %

    Moods

56.7% (438 people) answered “everything is fine”. Reductions are expected, but in other departments 24. 2% (187 people). 8.7% (67 people) expect layoffs in their department, another 7.1% (55 people) believe that the company can go bankrupt at any moment.

Interestingly, Kyiv programmers are less optimistic — among them, only 52.1% believe that everything is fine. They can be understood – 26.2% received a salary at the “summer” hryvnia exchange rate and only 14.0% receive a salary in US dollars (against 21.3% and 18.8% in general in Ukraine).

Vladimir Alekseenko, Head of Research and Development Department 1C, ABBYY Ukraine:

The salary market for 1C programmers this year (before the crisis) was very overheated. Now this “overheating” is cooling down, stabilization is underway, and it is quite likely that the market level of 1C programmers’ salaries will decrease in the near future. This is primarily due to the fact that those who previously “overheated” the market were the first to rush to lay off specialists, fire them or drastically reduce these high salaries. We are talking mainly about enterprises that are “end users” – they used to offer super-high salaries in order to lure and retain specialists. All this does not mean that salaries will become low, they will simply be more adequately correlated with qualifications, quality of work and the amount that clients are willing to pay for the work of a specialist.

ABBYY Ukraine does not plan to reduce the staff of programmers and 1C implementers. But in times of crisis, it is especially important that all resources, including human resources, work as efficiently as possible. If an employee works inefficiently or the quality of his work leaves much to be desired, then during a crisis it will be much “easier” to part with such an employee than during a shortage of personnel. The company is ready to “shelter” several valuable specialists during the crisis, but only if they are set up for long-term fruitful cooperation and effective work for a market – not “overheated” – salary.

Roman Khmil, Executive Director, GlobalLogic Ukraine:

Outsourcing will continue to grow, growth rates have temporarily slowed down, but by the middle of next year everything will return to normal. Small customers are already actively going bankrupt and some orders will disappear. But the big ones are planning to increase outsourcing, which will not only offset the losses, but will also lead to further growth in the future. No further increase in rates is foreseen. Many companies, in order to retain employees, sell those who are not involved in projects at cost. This is dumping, but Indian companies in this way are now significantly influencing prices in the market, in the direction of their reduction.

Salaries will not increase in the next 12 months. If the crisis worsens and rates in the global market go down, then wage cuts are inevitable. We reduced the “weak link”, those, productivity and quality of work, whose loyalty was in doubt. There is also a tendency to “push” expensive specialists to the market, who were once offered overcompensation due to a shortage of personnel in the market, to specialists with a more adequate price-quality ratio. At the same time, large companies are actively hiring, but mostly experienced specialists, who have now become available on the market and have moderated compensation requests.

Special education students and limited English students who have plans in place that allow them more time to graduate will be counted as graduates or non-graduates when they earn a diploma or otherwise exit high school. Deceased students will be counted as transfers out and incarcerated students will be counted as transfers as they leave and re-enter the system.

Primary school teacher – about children and their parents | Chalk

Some children come to first grade completely unprepared – why don’t parents see this? When should you start preparing your child for school? And how do adults prepare themselves? On the air of Radio School, these and other issues were discussed with the teacher of the highest category, Olga Gvindzhilia.

    “Children have really changed”

Even after four years of teaching, you manage to become attached to children, so graduation in the 4th grade is hard. In high school, this is even harder: there is more time to get used to it.

Separation from the first teacher is also very difficult for children. This segment of the path that we are walking together is very important. During this period, children form their own views on life and values. That is, I let go of grown-up children. And I am always very pleased when my former students come to me. Moreover, they come for various reasons, but most often for some advice. The last time I spoke with eleventh graders. They discussed their plans and problems. They come to me and tell me confidentially about something, because they know that I treat them like adults, respect and value their opinion since elementary school.

And yes, the children have really changed. This otherness is decomposed into several components – about them a little lower. It is important and necessary to talk about this, because parents must understand their child and accept him. Along with the children, the format of education has also changed. These changes can be divided into physiological and social components.

“You can’t do basic things for a child”

A teacher’s work is not only manuals. It is not enough to know only the methodological conditions for organizing a lesson. Today, a teacher should be both a physiologist and a neuropsychologist. I immediately understand which of the children needs a psychologist, and which needs a speech therapist.

There is such a thing as “minimal brain dysfunction”. A child needs to perform some actions in order for the brain to mature, but the problem of today’s children is precisely that many of them do not develop – they do not perform the elementary actions that are necessary for a person aged 1 to 6 years. Therefore, certain parts of the brain do not mature for learning to read and write.

The first grade program is based on certain parameters that must be developed before entering the school. The readiness of the child lies in the ability to tie shoelaces and fasten buttons. Some parents do not understand that the child must learn to do the basic things himself – eat, dress, undress. You can’t do everything for the child: then he can’t do anything on his own at school, while his peers will do everything themselves.

“Everything is fine with us – it’s you who teach badly”

The teaching community tries to adapt to the needs of children. But we are dealing not only with children, but also with parents. In some students, we immediately notice some neurophysiological problems – but, unfortunately, we often encounter a tough position from parents: “We are doing well, it’s just that you cannot teach. ” It is important to understand that an elementary school teacher can really not do everything.

Now the parental desire to lead the learning process is very strong. But it’s like going to the dentist and trying to manage the process in his office. There are clear school rules – they are transparent and understandable. It is important to convey this to parents at the very beginning, since their distrust of the school, teachers and the program is surprising.

Sometimes teachers try to negotiate with parents about solving some problem. But parents have “IMHO”, they see only the problems that they see. The worst thing is that children suffer because of this.

“We are all imbued with the spirit of anxiety”

Parents do not understand the harm they cause to children with overprotection, constant control, etc. When the mother of a 9-year-old child comes and says: “We decided that Vanya will not study mathematics” , that is, not “Vanya decided”, but “we”, – this is not normal. In addition to hyperprotection, parents suffer from hyperanxiety. It is difficult to imagine a parent who would let the child go for a walk alone in the yard. Something has changed, which is why we are all saturated with the spirit of anxiety and fear for our children.

But trust, acceptance of the child as he is, is a necessary condition for his growing up. Overprotection stifles those sprouts of independence that are in the child from the very beginning. “Your freedom ends where another’s freedom begins” is what I’ve been telling all my children for four years. Therefore, when a child does something, he must first think: “Yes, it’s good for me, but is there another one nearby?”

This moment of interaction in the society of small children now concerns adults as well. Remember the parent chat that hurts us all. Everyone talks about tolerance and tolerance, but when you open the parent chat, you understand that we are still far from tolerance. Insulting each other is almost the main thing that is filled with correspondence.

“The child is a copy of the family”

A child in elementary school is a copy of his family. You can not tell me anything about yourself, but I know exactly how it is in your family, because the child is your mirror. The child reflects what he sees. What parents talk about with their children, how they communicate with them and other family members – all this is a portrait that is very easy to read. Dear adults, you are responsible for your children. If you think that a child does not broadcast everything that happens before his eyes, then you are mistaken. Do not be surprised later that the child is not understood and accepted at school.

It is important to convey to children that the whole world does not have to love them. They will face this very often, and they will have to survive in this. They need to learn how to communicate with each other.

And as for preparing for school, it should not begin in August, but almost from the very birth of the child. If for five years you tell something to a child, read to him, play word games with him, and on the street you will be allowed to ride a swing and climb trees, then you will form a self-confident and calm person, going to the first Class. And summer is a time for rest, not for the phone. The time of reading, leisurely conversations, the time when the child feels part of the world.

Listen to the full interview with Olga Gvindzhilia here. The conversation took place on the air of the Radio School – the Mela project and the radio station “Moscow Speaks” about the problems of education and upbringing. The guests of the studio are teachers, psychologists and other experts. The program is aired on Sundays at 13:00 on the Moscow Speaking radio station.

“Students should be treated like your children”

Olga Soroka — primary school teacher at the Lomonosov Lyceum in Noginsk, winner of the competition for teachers of private schools “Teacher’s Contribution 2021”. Olga shared her thoughts with the Pedagogical Council on how important family support is for a teacher, why she is inspired by the role of the first teacher, and what victory in the All-Russian competition means.

“The first teacher is a special mission”

The choice of profession was not acute for me: my father’s five sisters are teachers of different subjects. Probably, the craving for pedagogy is laid down in genes.

At first, I worked for five years in the primary grades of a municipal school, then for a year I tried myself as a geography teacher in the middle and senior grades and nevertheless returned to the younger ones, but already to a private school – the Lomonosov Lyceum in Noginsk. This work is closer to me, because in the “primary school” the teacher is like a “second mother”, and my class is my brainchild. It is very inspiring when the guys meet you with hugs and burning eyes. It’s nice to know that middle-level teachers are “fighting” for my graduates.

In our lyceum, there is an inextricable and close connection between the first teacher and the grown-up students. Already in high school, the guys come to visit me and their patrons – my first-graders, hold interesting events with them. For example, during the “Teacher’s Contribution” competition, fifth-graders were my assistants: together with the kids, they held an educational event and created a booklet “Drinking tea is healthy!”. In general, high school students run to my elementary school at any free moment: just to hug and talk about their business. We keep in touch even with those who have already graduated from school. For example, when my former student, who is now 20 years old, found out about my victory in the Teacher Contribution competition, he wrote that he was proud that I was his first teacher. It moved me to tears.

The first teacher is a special mission: he is remembered and remains in the heart of the child forever. I fondly remember my primary school teacher, she is an authority for me. I would like to be remembered with a kind word, proud that they learned from me.

The most important thing for me as a teacher is to ask myself the question “How would I like my child to be treated?” If I want to make a remark, I stop and analyze: would I like it if the teacher said this to my child? When I think about the presentation of the material, I ask myself a similar question: “How would I like this to be explained to my child?” You have to start with yourself.

Olga Soroka (center) with the participants of the Teacher’s Contribution 2021 contest

    A happy accident

My participation in the Teacher’s Contribution contest turned out to be a matter of chance. I found out about him in one of the work chats: a message came from a colleague that for the first time in my life they were organizing a competition for teachers of private schools. There were no volunteers in my lyceum, but the head teacher insisted: “Olya, you need to participate. ” At first I refused, because I had little free time, but eventually I registered – in the last days before the deadline for applications.

I am responsible by nature, I can’t work poorly, so the “Teacher’s Contribution” required a lot of both moral and physical strength from me. After all, it was necessary not only to show how well and quickly you can do your job, but also to show your uniqueness – to prove that no one can do it the way you can.

My head was boiling, it took a lot of time. Almost constantly I was hugging a laptop. My husband supported me during the competition, all organizational issues were on him. Children too. Every time I said that I couldn’t do it anymore, my husband encouraged me: “No, you can, I know. How can I help you?”

Olga Soroka — winner of the “Teacher’s Contribution 2021” contest

The first thing that impressed me at the competition was the debate: the team had to figure out how to justify the thesis that fell out to it, and its representative should speak on stage against the opponent. I was lucky: I defended the thesis “Learning without coercion is possible”, which reflects my pedagogical position.

I am not a supporter of the dominance of the teacher over the student. I am sure that only learning without coercion enables students to be equal partners in the educational process.

But after a while, I realized that the most vivid impression was left by the stage that then seemed the most difficult, and now the most productive: holding an educational event according to someone else’s scenario. I got the event “Let’s sit by the samovar”, developed by Anastasia Ilyicheva: we studied the culture of Russian tea drinking. It was the first educational event for my first class. We were able not only to implement the script of another author, but also to unite all the participants – children, parents and colleagues – to implement it.

The competition is over, and the desire to hold such events, where close cooperation creates a friendly team, has only intensified. We rallied so much that we wanted to continue working in this format. Before the contest, my colleagues and I did not use this technology, and now we have started the educational event “Milk in abundance – we are fine!”: we study the importance of milk for a person, prepare dairy products and have already been on tours of the production of curds “B. Yu.Aleksandrov” and at the Noginsk cold storage facility.

The organizers made a great contribution to the development of private schools, because this is the only competition for our teachers. Now we can at least show ourselves. Unfortunately, there are stereotypes in society that somehow we teach the wrong way, we give the wrong education, we think only about money. I would like these ideas to go away, because how a person works depends on him, and not on the school: both in public and private, I treat my business the same way.

    Olga Soroka, Svetlana Morozova

5 theses about the work of a teacher

    1.

The main thing is to talk to the student and hear him.

A student is a subject of the educational process, he has the right to participate in it, change it, defend his point of view and choose the trajectory of his path. Upbringing and education is possible only through dialogue with the child.

    2. The first teacher does not just give knowledge.

I consider it my primary task not only to give children knowledge, but to lay the foundation of a Good Person. This is partly why, no matter how bad my mood is, I always enter the class with children with a smile on my face.

    3. To become better, you have to overcome difficulties.

You need to participate in competitions to keep yourself in good shape. We must constantly test ourselves and not relax, because only through overcoming difficulties does the formation of a person occur. The victory added self-confidence and set a new vector – how to behave further, what to do.

    4. There is no age in the teaching profession.

    7 Preschool Open House Ideas

Open house events can be a great way to market your childcare center or preschool to prospective families. Not only do they allow you to meet potential new parents, but they also allow you to share about your program, educational philosophies, and lesson plans in a hands-on and personal way.

A great open house can also make a lasting impression on prospective parents, helping to increase awareness about your program and boost enrollment numbers at your center. If you’re looking for preschool open house ideas, here are five tips for planning an event that prospective families will love.

    1. Choose a strategic time and date for your preschool open house

The first step to hosting a successful preschool open house is to choose a convenient time and date for prospective parents. Think about what would be easiest for families with young children—typically, early weeknights work best.

Ensure your open house doesn’t overlap with significant local events, such as festivals, major sports events, or school graduations. You’ll also want to avoid holidays, as many families may be busy or out of town during those times.

To give prospective families ample time to learn about and assess your program, you should hold your open house about two months before your enrollment applications are due. You can also consider hosting multiple open house events to accommodate more families’ schedules.

    2. Spread the word about your open house through multiple platforms

Promoting your open house is key to generating interest and higher attendance at your event. Consider all the platforms and networks your center has access to and how you can use them to spread the word about your event.

For example, if your program uses social media, share about your open house on all your pages before the event date. You can also post a few reminders during the weeks leading up to the open house, so families don’t forget to add it to their calendars!

You can also create a public event post on Facebook for your open house that includes the event’s date, time, and location. Share the event post with your Facebook friends, parenting groups, and groups within your community to raise awareness of the open house.

    Source

Encourage families to RSVP to the event on Facebook and share the post on other social media platforms such as Instagram and Twitter to help spread the word.

If you have a flyer for the open house, you can post a picture of it on Instagram. Include details about your open house in the post’s description and ask your followers to visit your website using a link in your Instagram profile.

Use hashtags strategically in your post so it appears when parents search for information about daycares, preschools, and childcare centers.

    Source

You’ll also want to announce your open house on your website, so families actively browsing your page will be sure to see it. Share the event in an eye-catching place, such as a banner image at the top of your home page.

You should also ensure that the event’s time, location, and purpose are easy to see at a glance so that interested families don’t need to search or click through for more details.

Word of mouth can also be an extremely effective way to market your open house. Ask your currently enrolled families and staff to help you spread the word and consider offering a referral bonus to anyone who refers a family that enrolls in your program. If you share information about the open house on social media, you can ask your current families and staff to share the post with their followers.

If any currently enrolled families or staff members are members of parenting or early education groups online, you can also ask them to share about your open house in those communities. Young parents are using the internet to research childcare options more than ever, so online recommendations can be highly effective for generating interest in your open house!

    3. Invite your staff and family volunteers to attend

You’ll want a small team onsite to help during the open house, so ask your staff and families to volunteer at least a month in advance, so they have plenty of notice.

Prospective families will appreciate the chance to connect with your teachers and hear directly from other parents about their experiences with your program.

During your open house, assign one or more greeters so families are properly welcomed when they arrive. If your center is large, it’s best to have at least one volunteer stationed in each classroom and your outside play area, so visitors never have to look far if they have questions.

If you require guests to wear masks, remind the greeter to inform families of your COVID-19 safety requirements. It’s also a good idea to have extra masks on hand so you don’t need to turn any prospective families away.

    4. Create a welcoming atmosphere

Organizing and decorating your classrooms, displaying lesson examples, and providing snacks and enriching activities will create a welcoming setting and help you make an excellent first impression.

Display students’ work in the classrooms and hallways to give parents an idea of the material their children will learn and get children excited about the activities your program offers.

Provide healthy refreshments such as graham crackers, fruit, and water rather than candy and sugary juices. Offering healthy options at your open house will show parents that you value their children’s nutrition.

      2.
      3. Preschool open houses should be engaging for parents and their children, even though parents are the primary target. Consider setting up activities for children who attend your open house. Activities can include arts and crafts projects, scavenger hunts, or games that can help you get to know your prospective families.

    5. Prepare helpful materials for families to take home

During your open house, families will be busy taking in a lot of new and exciting information. Help prospective families easily access essential details about your program by preparing handouts and packets for them to take home.

These materials can also help keep your center top of mind for families and encourage them to apply sooner, especially if they’re simultaneously evaluating multiple childcare programs or preschools!

Here are some suggestions for helpful resources for prospective families:

    • Brochures for your program
    • Enrollment packets
    • Sample schedules
    • Calendars
    • COVID-19 FAQ pages
    • Family handbooks

During your open house, organize your printed materials on an information table so they’re easy to find and all in one place. You might also assign a staff member to monitor the table so they can remind families to take the printouts they need as they’re leaving the event.

    6. Consider offering an enrollment incentive to attendees

To encourage more parents to submit their enrollment applications, you can offer an exclusive incentive to attendees, such as a discounted or waived registration fee. For any guests who wish to submit an enrollment application during the open house, prepare a table with necessary tools—such as printed applications, pens, or tablets for submitting online applications—to make the process as convenient as possible.

You can extend your special offer for a week or so after your event if families need more time to decide.

    7. Follow up with attendees

Collect the contact information of all potential new families that visit your open house. Be sure to find a moment of personal connection with them that you can bring up later when you contact them. It may be a childcare philosophy or strategy they found particularly interesting or an anecdotal story shared between you.

Within about 48 hours after the event, send families a follow-up message via phone or email. In your message, reference the connection you made at the event and why your center is the best choice for them. Thank them for coming, summarize some of the highlights of your program’s offerings, and ask if they have any further questions. Following up with all attendees will ensure your center stays top of mind as families consider their options.

Show families what sets your program apart by using these tips at your next open house

By incorporating the above preschool open house ideas, your event will be set up for success. Remember to have fun and be yourself—your program has so much to offer, and your genuine excitement about your center will be contagious to prospective families!

How to Actually Host An Amazing Daycare Open House

Something that every business, even an in-home daycare business, has to do is marketing. Sometimes word-of-mouth just isn’t enough to fill those empty spots.

But what if there was a way to fill all your daycare spots in one day! Not only that but to create a waiting list for future spots. Wouldn’t you want to know about it? I thought so.

So today, I thought we would look at a marketing method that businesses large & small use all the time so we can use it too. Let’s find out how to host a daycare open house.

    Hosting a Daycare Open House

Before we jump into how to host a daycare open house, I thought we would touch on why this could be a great marketing method for daycare providers.

    Why An Open House?

Do you remember those back-to-school nights in grade school? That was when your parents would go and meet your teacher and get a feel for how things were going in the class.

Well, a daycare open house can do the same thing for your childcare business. Unlike the typical daycare tour, at a daycare open house, you can host several families at once. Imagine being able to address parent questions, show off highlights of your program, and all the rest – but just once! Nice right?!

A daycare open house kinda takes the tour to a higher level. But at the same time condenses those one-family weekly tours into one (predetermined) time slot for many families.

Finally, hosting a daycare open house allows you to get a feel for the families and the childcare needs in the community.

    Planning Your Daycare Open House

    Choose A Date

    Pick A Date

The first thing you need to do is to pick a day for your daycare open house. Whether you will host this event monthly, quarterly, or annually, here are a few things to consider when choosing a day & time:

    • If you choose a week night, try to do early evening to avoid bedtimes
    • Skip Friday nights
    • Try to avoid dates around holidays
    • Set a specific start & end time to avoid lingering
    • Also consider space and capacity
    • Consider scheduling repeat events on a different day of the week or time

    Marketing Your Open House

Marketing is key so you will want to plan to get the word out well in advance so people can schedule to attend. Use both printed and other forms of advertising. Consider asking former clients to share an invite with family, friends, and coworkers.

    Create invitations.

Put an abbreviated invite in your usual daycare ads. Use Google and social media to announce your daycare open house.

Highlight the BEST FEATURES of your business in your ads and point out that you would love for parents to attend the open house and see your great program for themselves.

Don’t forget to promote the event on your website and even on your voicemail.

Remember to reach out to businesses in your area that might have parents looking for childcare.

When posting on social media, try to include local hashtags that will target people in your community.

Finally, it is best to create both physical & virtual daycare open house flyers for your event. You will want to create visually appealing flyers that you can post around your community. Here are a few places you can use:

    • Evite
    • Canva
    • VistaPrint
    Clean The Class

Having a clean & uncluttered space will go a long way in putting your best foot forward with parents. People are more likely to trust you and picture their child at your daycare if it is clean & inviting. Considering doing a mini purge or storing some items away before the event.

    The Staff Too

If you have staff, ask them to attend your daycare open house. It is the perfect time for parents to get to know them as well. It is a good practice to have a staff person greet people as they arrive and leave.

No staff yet? Get your spouse or teenager to play receptionist for the night.

    Be ready for enrollments!

    Be Ready To Enroll

Parents might be ready to sign up at your event so be ready. Here are a few things to have on hand to capture those new clients:

    • Brochure or flyer about your daycare
    • FAQ page
    • Daily Schedule
    • About Us – curriculum, philosopy, themes, etc.
    • Contact Info.
    • Application
    • Business Card
    • Waiting List

Much of this information you can probably copy or print from your website.

How to Host An Open House

    Have activities for the children.

    Set Up Activities

You can probably count on most if not all invitees to bring their children with them to the event. So be ready with ready-made daycare open house activities and stations already set up. Have a variety of activities for the children staged and ready to go. This is a perfect thing for your assistant to help with during the open house.

Having activities for the children to do, not only highlights your program but also gives the parents time to get to picture their child at your daycare.

    Welcome Them In!

As people arrive, have a welcome area set up with a sign-in sheet. This will allow you to capture contact information including email addresses. Your assistant can help by encouraging parents to sign in upon arrival.

    Let Them Eat

Offering refreshments at your daycare open house is a great idea. Offering coffee, hot cocoa, and a small snack will do the trick here. You could even feature some of the same menu items you serve at the daycare.

Setting up a snack table where people can talk and feel comfortable will create a more welcoming environment.

    Set the Mood

Speaking of a welcoming environment, let’s set the mood for a great event. Think about playing some fun instrumental music in the background. Just make sure it’s low enough so that it doesn’t compete with conversation.

Use all the senses. Even after giving everything a good clean, maybe add an air freshener so that that clean smell lingers a bit.

    Pep Up The Perks

Incentives work great for getting people to take fast actions. Think about what you could offer people who sign up at the event. Here are some enrollment perks you could offer. Of course, so people don’t feel pressured, it would be best to extend any offer for a couple of weeks after the daycare open house.

Make sure your guests have a place to sign up. Think about designating a table or several clipboards with applications and other forms. Go ahead and put a nice welcoming sign right on the table.

    Always follow-up!

What to Do After The Event

What you do after a daycare open house is almost as important as the event itself. After about a week, reach out to any attendees that didn’t enroll yet. Send a mass email to all those door sign-ups stating how nice it was that they took time to attend the event, ask if they have any questions, and remind them of when the open house offer will expire.

    CLICK TO PIN FOR LATER!

You Can Host An Amazing Daycare Open House

Using a daycare open house to market your childcare is a great way to call attention to your business. Not just as a grand opening idea, you should consider hosting an open house seasonally or at least once a year.

Hosting an event like a daycare open house is a great way to show parents in your community the wonderful quality program you offer. It also gives credibility to your childcare business and allows you to foster relationships in your community.

Now of course I can’t promise that you will fill all your open spots at your open house, but it definitely could happen. An open house event has the potential to be your secret weapon for marketing your daycare business, so why not use it.

Russia’s first large-scale retrospective of Andrey Reuter, one of the founders of the legendary 1980s squat “Kindergarten”, who has been living in Western Europe for more than twenty years. The previous Moscow projects Suitcase Collection (Art-Strelka projects, 2005) and Checked Luggage (Regina, 2011) opened up to the Russian public an “artist-tourist” – Reuter’s self-definition, which he develops in the article “Years of Andrey’s Wanderings”. Reuter” Victor Misiano. The Open House exhibition, initiated a few years ago by curator Olga Lopoukhova, expands the scale of Reuter’s “baggage” to the parameters of a “workshop” located on four floors of a building in Ermolaevsky Lane. The exposition unfolds as a moving collage of three-dimensional objects and artifacts, photographs and video works, works on canvas and paper, covering the 25-year period of the artist’s work. For this exhibition, for the first time in Moscow, Andrey Roiter builds a “spherical space” formed by “crystals – food for the eye and mind”, the search for which is the goal of his real and mental travels. This space, by the artist’s own admission, is his “self-portrait”.

The Open House exhibition features more than 70 paintings, photographs, objects from Dutch and Russian private and museum collections. The exposition is not built on a chronological basis, in each hall there are artifacts created in different years – from 1986 to 2012. Separate halls recreate the atmosphere of Moscow artistic life of the 1980s, reminiscent of the first “open studio” of the artist in the “Kindergarten” squat.
Andrey Reuter’s “non-national” art, which is based on traveller’s notes, observer’s optics and the practice of collecting unnecessary “souvenirs”, has its roots in the 80s, when the circle of people in Russia involved in contemporary art was very narrow. It was then that the artist for the first time asks himself the question that he still presents to himself and the audience – what does it mean to “be Andrey Reuter”. The painting “My Russian Accent” (2003) packs the artist’s speech baggage into an old canvas backpack, with which he sets off to wander the world. Since then, Andrey Reuter’s paintings have often included foreign-language texts, among which short English maxims predominate, but in the style of the artifacts created by the artist, that same indestructible “accent” has been preserved, expressed in the attractive magic of a man-made object, far from the cold madeness of the West. The work “My Russian Eyes” (2010) is a kind of recognition that once acquired vision cannot be transformed depending on movement on one or the other side of the border. Armed with the tourist’s characteristic tool – a camera that grows on his canvases to grandiose proportions, the artist, once and forever trying on the mask of an “eternal traveller”, clothes himself in constant discoveries of “new lands”.

However, at the same time, a person is looking into the lens of the same camera, keeping his distance and stating “I’m not here”. Freedom in the choice of the subject of the “collection” of the artist makes him independent of any impersonal attachments, the archaic forms of his artifacts have their source not in nostalgia for poor materials, the only ones available in the times of the USSR, but in the charm of everyday life, the collage nature of the world around a person. His works are born from sketches and notes of an observer who is in constant motion, settling in suitcases, which he sometimes opens years later. Therefore, it is difficult to talk about the evolution of the artist Reuter, he is the author of nomadic motifs that acquire new formal incarnations in multi-format paintings, ascetic or complex objects. Hence the peculiarity of the exhibitions of his “collections”, the exhibits of which are arranged according to the collage principle, revealing more and more paradoxical connections.

    ARTIST BIOGRAPHY

Andrei Roiter was born in 1960 in Moscow. From 1978 to 1980 he studied at the Moscow Architectural Institute. In 1977, he took part in a group exhibition at the City Committee of Graphic Artists on Malaya Gruzinskaya Street. In 1985-1986, together with Nikolai Filatov and German Vinogradov, he worked as a watchman in the building of a former kindergarten in Khokhlovsky Lane, where the Kindergarten art community was formed. Since the mid-1980s, the artist’s works have been exhibited at exhibitions of unofficial Soviet art in Europe and the USA. From 1990s lives and works in the West, exhibits in Germany, Switzerland, Sweden, USA and Japan. Among the most significant Reuter exhibitions of those years are expositions at the Basel Kunsthalle, the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, the Ludwig Forum in Achen and the Kunsthalle Recklinghausen). AMERICA’S MOST ACCREDITED

    We’re so proud!

Nationally only 10% of daycares are accredited – nearly 100% of our learning centers are. That’s a big difference,
and that means KinderCare kids are getting the very best. Here’s why.

    SCHOOL-READY

    What Learning Looks Like

Our talented early-childhood teachers set kids down the path toward becoming lifelong learners in a positive, safe, and nurturing environment.

    Warren KinderCare Programs

    Infant Programs (6 weeks–1 year)

Leaving your baby in someone else’s care is a big step. Everyone at our
centers—most importantly, our naturally gifted infant teachers—will work with
you to make sure the transition goes smoothly. When you step into our infant
classroom, you’ll see how much we want your infant to feel safe, loved, and
    ready to explore their world.

    Toddler Programs (1–2 Years)

Everything in our toddler classroom is designed for little explorers. That’s
because a lot is going on at this age. When your child is wandering all over the
place, that means they’re learning and discovering new things every day. We’ll
help them explore their interests (and find new ones!) as they play and learn.

    Discovery Preschool Programs (2–3 Years)

This age is filled with so much wonder and curiosity. That’s why we offer a ton
of books and toys and bring artwork down to kids eye level. Children in
discovery preschool also begin to learn how we all work together in a
classroom. Simple math and science, pretend play, and group play help them
get used to a more structured school setting.

    Preschool Programs (3–4 Years)

This age is all about expression, when kids really start to form their own ideas
about what they want to play and how they want to create. Every day in our
preschool classroom, your child will explore science experiments, create
artwork, and play pretend—all the skills needed for their big next step:
    kindergarten!

    Prekindergarten Programs (4–5 Years)

When you walk into one of our pre-K classrooms, you’ll see artwork and
writing displayed around the room. Labels are everywhere to help kids connect
letters with words. You’ll also see pictures on the walls that reflect the families
in our community. Your child will also deepen their knowledge in language,
math, science, Spanish, and social skills.

    Our Teachers

We’re the only company in early childhood education to select teachers based on natural talent. Being a great educator isn’t enough though.
KinderCare teachers are also amazing listeners, nurturers, boo-boo fixers, and smile-makers. Put more simply,
we love our teachers and your child will, too.

Meet just a few of our amazing KinderCare teachers!

    A KINDERCARE TEACHER WITH

    An Artist’s Heart

“My classroom is full of art!” says Mary Annthipie-Bane, an award-winning early childhood educator at KinderCare. Art and creative expression, she says, help children discover who they really are.

We put our best-in-class teachers in a best-in-class workplace. We’re so proud to have been named one of Gallup’s 37 winners of the Great Workplace Award.
When you put great teachers in an engaging center, your children will experience
an amazing place to learn and grow.

Description: Childtime’s educational philosophy is based on the Reggio Emilia approach, named after the Italian city and the surrounding villages where the method took root after World War II. Central to this philosophy is the belief that secure relationships with responsive and respectful adults provide the basis for all learning. With these relationships in place, children develop a capacity for trust, competence and independence that helps them grow as students and people.

      Beautiful botanical garden with additions

This is a small, mostly indoor botanical garden. It is small, less than a dozen pavilions. As is customary in a botanical garden, the pavilions are divided into themes – tropical forest, desert, banzai, etc. Everything is very well-groomed and caresses the eye. There are not only plants and paths, but also glass sculptures, a pond with fish, a toy railway. Butterfly breeding project gives a special charm to the garden. The visitor can watch “live” the whole process of becoming a butterfly, meet with a variety of butterflies in some pavilions. Children will be delighted! I can’t find anything negative to say about this place.

      Old Germany

The oldest quarter in Columbus, small houses and streets of the 19th century, built by the Germans, but slightly renovated. The streets are narrow, with paving stones. To say that this is a work of art would be a lie. But you can walk for an hour, an hour and a half, buy souvenirs from German shops, eat sausages in German restaurants and that’s it. Have a nice holiday…

      Very cool!

I really liked it here. The organizers of our conference decided to hold dinner here (it was delicious), it was held in one of the VIP areas for watching matches. Among other things, there was a tour of the stadium. I even had the opportunity to run around the field, to feel like a real American footballer 🙂 I just got high. Grass (though artificial, but) is very soft.
It’s a pity that games don’t take place that often, and we didn’t have a chance to watch the game itself.

      Beautiful arena

Came to watch Columbus take on New Jersey. Parking close, plenty of places to grab a bite to eat in front of open doors. The staff were friendly and knowledgeable. The food was moderately priced. There was a great view from our seats on the top tier. I don’t feel like there were bad seats in the arena. The fans were also very friendly, even to rival fans.

      Half Museum

Probably one of the only tourist places in Columbus where you can go and spend time. The museum is on the ground floor and is all about the history of the city. The museum is small. It’s free. At the end, you can buy souvenirs in the shop, but they are expensive as always.

Expo Center and Fair with concert hall

In America, it is very important to have a rented car. To visit this object – you will need it. The place is quite far from the city of Columbus. We didn’t have a rental car unfortunately. They came on purpose – to attend a concert that took place in the concert hall of this complex. We stayed at a motel, which is located a 5-minute walk from the Fair – or rather, right opposite, so did real Americans who come here with their children for a couple of days. The name of the motel is Days Inn Fairgrounds Columbus. In fact – this complex is one of the largest in the vastness of the Midwest, absolutely everything is collected here – from morning to night, entertainment, shops. I have never seen so much food cooked right in front of your eyes. These are fast food and restaurants where they make meat on a spit, as well as all kinds of sweets and ice cocktails – necks for every taste – which everyone can make for themselves. Here everything is teeming with people, families come. The fair is open from morning to late evening. A huge number of rides, there is a Ferris wheel. It also hosts concerts by popular stars. One moment – if you bought a ticket for a show in a concert hall in advance – they will not let you into the fair without an entrance ticket. The entrance ticket is bought separately. It is problematic in the area with shops on weekends, but if you come to visit the Fair, then you will find everything you need there. There is a 24 hour McDonald’s nearby. The entrance at the time of 2015 was $10. Didn’t use the parking lot. Those who want to see a large-scale entertainment venue and happen to be in Columbus are recommended to visit. Shopping, food, entertainment, driving all kinds of racing cars and rides, live performances by stars, master classes and much more in one bottle.

Chris Columbus (Chris Columbus) – American director, screenwriter and writer.

Chris Columbus was born in Spangler, Pennsylvania to Italian and Czech factory workers and grew up in Ohio. From childhood, Chris was fond of horror films in general and monsters in particular, and dreamed of creating comics in the future. But while in high school, he discovered his passion for filmmaking and decided to focus his efforts on building a career in filmmaking. He went to New York where he enrolled at the Tisch School of the Arts and began making short films and writing screenplays. Soon Columbus wrote the script for the future film “Gremlins”, which Steven Spielberg was seriously interested in. At 1984 saw the premiere of the film, in which Spielberg acted as an executive producer, and Joe Dante took the director’s chair. The film was a great success at the box office, a cult title and a sequel in 6 years (not very successful), and at the moment a remake is being prepared for production.

Columbus made his directorial debut with the 1987 family comedy Nanny’s Adventures. In 1990, he released the (later cult) Christmas comedy Home Alone, starring Macaulay Culkin and written by John Hughes himself. The film grossed about $500 million worldwide, which was more than 25 times the film’s budget. Early 19For 92 years, the picture took third place in the ranking of the most successful films of all time, at the same time the premiere of the sequel, Home Alone 2: Lost in New York, took place. The picture failed to repeat the success of the first part, but still the rental went well. (There have been three more sequels since then, to which Columbus, Hughes, and Culkin have nothing to do.)

Since then, Columbus’s name has been closely associated with family comedy, but his subsequent directorial work includes such well-known “adult” films as “Stepmother” and “Bicentennial Man”. He invariably chooses ordinary but good people for his characters: “I can understand why some filmmakers are trying to show the viewer the ugliness of this world, but I am sure that films are needed that can give people hope. Therefore, if the picture is incapable of this, then I simply do not want to shoot it.

In 1995, Columbus founded the company “1492 Pictures”: the number in the title is a reference to the year of the first exploratory voyage of Chris’ namesake – Christopher Columbus (Christophorus Columbus). In the early 2000s, Chris filmed the first two parts of the Boy-Who-Lived franchise – Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone and Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets – and produced the third. These films were as significant in the director’s career as the duology about the Boy-Who-Left-Home-Alone. Chris often shoots his loved ones in cameos in his films. For example, his daughter Eleanor played the role of Susan Bones in his adaptations of Harry Potter. Ten years later, Columbus directed the first film in another saga, Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief, and produced the second. In 2012, Chris’ film The Help received an Oscar nomination for Best Picture, but lost to The Artist.
