“Parents should not bury their children.

But we are grateful to God that he was our son.”

Taras Ratushny, father of Roman Ratushny, intelligence officer of the 93rd Motorized Brigade “Kholodny Yar”, Grigory Kapustinsky, father of Vasily-Yakov Kapustinsky and Vasily Benchak, father of social activist Vitaly Benchak

hromadske

Today is Father’s Day. But not all Ukrainian popes will receive congratulations. Not everyone will be visited by sons or daughters, not everyone will receive a phone call. Because the war with Russia continues, and the enemy is taking away the most precious thing from parents – children. These are the stories of men who lost their sons in the war. They tell how they brought up the heroes and how they experience the loss.

“It’s its time, it’s his Revolution”

Taras Ratushny, father of the intelligence officer of the 93rd Specialized Brigade “Kholodny Yar” and Kiev public activist Roman Ratushny, who died on June 9, 2022 near Izyum in the Kharkov region.

Did I cope with raising my son… I don’t think my answer will be in the affirmative. Moreover, the further, the more doubts about it.

Genes are genes, but more important than family — Roman’s worldview and character were shaped by the community, twins and, in fact, the society in which he found his role, his place and vocation very early. Roman intuitively and very successfully selected people in his social circle, as well as guidelines for development, drawing up his own life plan.

Roma could have died many times before the start of the war. He could become a “dead young man without 50 thousand dollars,” as he was promised by the negotiators from the raiders in Protasov Yar. He had every chance to be on the lists of the Heavenly Hundred. Could die as a baby. I remember counting the steps around the resuscitation room, pushing the thought away. From birth, he balanced on this limit, this could not but affect the formation of his personality.

As a child, Roma was in the shadow of his older brother. He was his protector. And Roma, like a ponytail, felt uncomfortable without his brother. But at the same time, from a very early age, he felt his individuality. And he always made it clear that he should not be measured by the same yardstick with others.

I once jokingly called them punks. The eldest son was already adopting this subculture, and Roma next to him also looked very extravagant, especially. He was offended and asked: “Who said I was a punk? I’m not a punk.” He constantly emphasized his peculiarity. I thought over my image, hairstyle, outfits to the details.

There was a very difficult period in our life. Painful for the children and for me. A period when I could not communicate with them, but could only watch how they develop, go to kindergarten, school. When full communication finally returned, Roma was ten.

And these are already teenage years, rebellious. But Roman always had rebelliousness, it could be seen on the Maidan. He was a participant in the events that caused the Revolution of Dignity. Although Roman was still a schoolboy, it was no coincidence that he was among the students who were beaten by Berkut on November 30. He was there from the first hours of the protest and became one of its leaders.

As a father, I understood that there are things that I cannot influence. Before the Revolution, we had conversations about security, about what should be done and what should not. When the Revolution of Dignity began, I constantly saw my son on the Maidan. Sometimes we went to eat or drink coffee, just talked. I was not at all surprised that Roman was there with his head, arms and legs, because at his age I had about the same experience when there was a Revolution on granite.

Roman Ratushny

Roman was sincerely interested in this. He saw in this his native element. But then, when the escalation began… I remember those barricades on Hrushevsky Street, which hadn’t burned yet. These were buses, and behind them – “Berkutovtsy”. On the other hand, the protesters. And there I saw Roman, I recognized him by his clothes. He tore it off for a second – the son was a little unhappy that dad was interfering and “burned” him like that.

Then we had a short conversation about how this is another level of danger and he must be aware of the threats. Roman replied that he knew what he was doing. And at that moment I realized: my list of tips dried up. Because my experience is really disproportionate. Because this is his time, his generation, his Revolution, in which I am most of all an outside observer and a timid dad.

Then we met and discussed everything, agreed that he would call by phone and tell where he was. Once I turned on the TV in the hotel, there was some kind of broadcast, but nothing special. Roman called, said that everything was fine, he was going with the guys to the subway.

I hung up and heard his voice, but this time on TV. The son said that he was standing in front of the “Ukrainian House”, where the “Berkutovtsy” had settled, and they would now kick them out. That is, Roma fulfilled our agreements and his obligations, but still did everything in his own way. At that moment, I already began to understand that his plan was definitely better than any others.

The same with the beginning of a full-scale war. He didn’t ask anyone anything. The first days he was occupied with only one question – where to get weapons.

I somehow drove away the thought that Roma might not return from the war… The only thing I don’t understand is: how did it happen that children climb into the hottest places ahead of their parents, how did we bring it to such a situation?

I know that Roman realized his plan, albeit in such a short period of time… It hurts to think about how he would open up after our victory, who he could become and what he could accomplish… What the city would have seen , the country and all of us.

I can hardly advise others, because there are no losses that could be measured under one ruler . .. But I could advise you to find a part of that person in yourself every day, try on yourself and listen to what sounds inside, resonates. This will be their continuation. This is the least we can give them, thank them in this way. To complete what our dead did not have time, only we can while we are alive.

“He loved people and Ukraine. He lived for this and died for this”

Grigory Kapustinsky, father of Vasily-Yakov Kapustinsky, who died on February 2, 2023 while performing a combat mission near the town of Kremennaya, Luhansk region.

You know, we raise a child from birth. This does not happen in one day, it is a long process. The child needs to be thanked for everything, even for raising his hand or taking a step, praise, talk and explain.

We did not have any special educational process, but we always had breakfast, lunch and dinner together, and important conversations took place at the table . .. We always spoke as equals, everyone has their own task – who goes to work, who goes to school who help mom. So the children grew up, made independent decisions. Of course, we explained certain things and taught some pointwise things, not without that.

Sometimes we told Vasily to do something, and he not only did it, but also supplemented it. There was no one who wanted to be like us. Reached for the elders, but always strived for more. And he had never been separated from the problems of the family, we were all together. Vasily always showed such wisdom that people were surprised.

Grigory and Vasily-Yakov Kapustinsky

I think he took the example of a man from me and from his grandfathers and grew up on this. And from the age of 15 he behaved like an adult, and I realized that it was we, the parents, who should take an example from him. Vasily got everything himself, thought about where he wanted to go.

Vasily had some kind of natural talent. That’s how an artist has a talent for drawing, he also loved people. He always found a common language with them, did a lot of things, and we supported him. Well, how else? Everything works out for the child, but should we object to something? Of course, they supported and were proud of him.

When the full-scale war began, my son was 24 years old, he was already working, he was a formed personality. He had his own views on life, he saw the country and what it should be like in the future.

In February 2022, I went to the military enlistment office. There were queues, and he still had an unfinished magistracy – two months remained. He was told to go to school.

While completing his studies, he volunteered, helped friends and acquaintances. Since I was engaged in boxing, running, tourist orientation, I was physically prepared and motivated.

In May I started shooting, but an unfortunate incident happened – I sprained my knee. The next six months needed to be treated. And after that he said that he was going to fight – he volunteered to go to the 95th Airborne Assault Brigade.

We, like everyone who sends relatives to the front, were worried, but we knew that he could not do otherwise. They knew that someone had to go. Vasily is not one of those who would hide. Knew what was needed. He loved people and Ukraine. He lived, breathed, and died for it.

This is an irreparable grief, parents should not bury their children. I don’t know what to say to other parents who have lost children. But we are grateful to God that he was our son and we were his parents.

“We understood that he was coming to protect us and the country. And he did it »

Vasily Benchak, father of volunteer and social activist Vitaliy Benchak, who died on October 1, 2022, near the village of Terny, Donetsk region.

When Vitaly went to war, we understood that he was not doing it for himself, he was going to protect us and the country. And he did. I am very proud of my son.

Vitaly Benchak

Valery Popovich / Facebook

Vitaly was very kind and fair. He always showed by example that it is important to keep promises and keep your word. We taught children to work and responsibility.

Vitaly Benchak

Family archive

In our family, one grandfather was repressed, the other participated in the First World War, so Vitaly knew all these stories and was brought up on this.

Until the age of three, until he went to kindergarten, Vitaly was brought up more by his grandmother. His religiosity is also, I think, her influence: he has not missed a single Sunday service since his student days. Even when he was at the front, he called his wife on the phone to listen to the service, and his brothers called him “Chaplain”. His motto was: “God and Ukraine are above everything. As one God is in heaven, so is one Ukraine on earth.”

Vasily and Vitaly Benchaki

Family archive

But I tried to spend a lot of time with him as a child. We went to the mountains. And then I gave him to the circle of the tourist-patriotic direction. And he was very into it. I traveled through the mountains of Rakhiv region, was active in the social life of our region, constantly organizing people around me.

Vitaly, to be honest, did not really share his decisions with me, did not explain why and why he did it. He could consult with me, but he was always sure of his intentions. Even young men.

My son always wanted to be a military man, he dreamed of entering a military school. He consulted with me like a child with a father. I couldn’t object to him, because if I said “no”, I could offend, and I would feel guilty.

But he couldn’t enter the school the first time. I passed the exams well, but when the cross was running, one boy fell, and Vitaly helped him to reach. Because of this, they missed the deadline a bit. He was very upset then, in despair. But I didn’t do it the first time either. Therefore, he said that it happens, life does not end there.

In the end, he achieved his goal, became a military man. Actively participated in the Orange Revolution and the Revolution of Dignity. Then he volunteered for the front. He didn’t tell me what he was planning, but carefully prepared us.

I saw him buying and bringing equipment into the house, so I understood everything but didn’t say anything. Yes, I didn’t want to. I knew that he intended to go, and my words “do not leave” would not have given anything. You know, sometimes people come back from war differently, but he doesn’t.

You never know what he said, but I did not inquire and did not insist. But we continued to communicate closely, he always helped me. Even with work. I am a doctor, and when we switched to an electronic program, he helped me a lot. In our family, everyone is taught to help each other: parents help their children, children help their parents.

On the eve of a full-scale war, Vitaly also did not say anything about his intentions, but we knew that he would go. And so it happened – I came to say goodbye … In June I had an operation, and a doctor, the same age as Vitaly, came to talk before discharge. I knew that my son was fighting. He asked me if I had been running the option in my head that something could happen to him. And I did not scroll, even after this conversation. He was sure that he would return, because he knew how to take care of himself.

In September Vitaliy came on vacation, we spent as much time together as we could. And on October 1, he died. I don’t know how to get through this. This is probably impossible to explain.

The director of the legendary “Midshipmen” Svetlana Druzhinina – about why she chose the prima donna’s daughter for the role of the empress, crazy fans and fines for obscenities on the set

She chose a male profession and copes with it brilliantly, many consider her an iron lady, but at the same time she manages to remain a beautiful, sophisticated woman and a wise, caring wife.

“Life” visited the People’s Artist of Russia, film director and screenwriter Svetlana Druzhinina.

– Svetlana Sergeevna, tell us about your favorite place in your house.

– Every woman should have her own nook. I have an office, my property. There are my books, favorite details, what is shot in my pictures. I use my own props a lot. When everything is from home, you don’t have to pay for it. And as for the house, he was going to gradually. Everything is beautiful with us now, as I like it, but at 19In 1982, our apartment burned down. We were just working on the painting “Princess of the Circus”. This was the period when televisions often burned, and we were among those who were not lucky.

– How did this happen?

– It was June, poplar fluff, and it burns instantly, like a candle. Our whole curtain was down, the TV was standing nearby, and when it caught fire, there was no chance. The apartment is through, the fire dispersed very quickly. Only the youngest son was at home – he was preparing to enter VGIK. I remember coming and I don’t understand why my leaves are floating on the other side of the house? I lifted one, the second, I look up, and there is smoke from my kitchen. Then there were three trials, we argued that it was not our own fault that we burned down, and for some time we lived in the veterans’ house in Matveevsky.

– How did you live as a child?

– I am a pre-war man, from the last century. I was evacuated from Moscow. Was in the trenches near Stalingrad. I know what a dugout, a candle, cold, hunger. Three hundred grams of bread – it was an impossible happiness. I know what a loaf is, which appears for the first time on the table, and my mother says: “Eat.” And I don’t know how to eat it, because it’s like from a fairy tale.

Druzhinina as Anfisa in the film “Girls”. Photo: legion.media.ru

– You were raised by your mother and grandmother. How did they manage to raise such an iron lady?

– I wouldn’t call myself an “iron lady”. We all cry at times, and that’s okay. There was a time that brought up. I am half orphan. Father went missing near Smolensk. Mom, with a four-grade education, went to work in a kindergarten to feed me and take me to the country for the summer. After the victory, she left for Potsdam, where she organized an educational and educational system for the children of military personnel who lived there. That’s why I lived with my grandmother. But I never reproach my mother, she helped me as best she could. She sent things that were not in the Union. I already studied at the ballet school, and such small parcels came, which helped me a lot to feel worthy.

– Was your grandmother strict?

– Strict and kind. We lived in Maryina Grove, there was no gas, no shower, no hot water. There was a charcoal stove in the common kitchen. I woke up at six in the morning, and an enameled green kettle with hot water and a basin were always waiting for me. I took such a shower, had breakfast with oatmeal jelly, ran to the first tram and flew onto the porch of our school. Then it was necessary to put on a tights, it was then much tougher, and run to the second floor to the sixth hall, where Maria Alekseevna Kozhukhova, our teacher, was standing. She had a gold pocket watch. Imagine a long corridor, you rush to her in the hall, but if you are late even for 20 seconds, the door slams in front of your nose. And if you are late, then you stand at the windowsill and work. After all, you can hear the music and its commands too. From time to time she came out with a cigarette, dumped the ashes that fluttered somewhere near me, and if she noticed that I was sweating, she allowed me to enter the classroom. We crawled out not earlier than half past twelve, but we had to take off our makeup. And at that time it was very oily and superimposed in a thick layer. There are many of us… Until it’s your turn to take a shower! Washed, dressed and run to Trubnaya. Sometimes the last tram was waiting for me there. Everyone knew that Svetka Druzhinina had to go home. And my grandmother met me at the house. Sleep around midnight. And thank God! It was a good school.

– Before ballet, you studied at the circus and were familiar with the Pencil…

– We, such half-bald children in balloon cookers, learned elements and stretched in the arena. And suddenly we saw our beloved Pencil. He had a dog Klyaksa, but for some reason there were two of them then. He was without a hat and without a suit, but you could always recognize him by his voice. We were delighted, began to repeat: “Oh, Pencil, Pencil” and the dog rushed to us. And our beloved clown rushed at us, cursing. It turns out that we prevented him from raising an understudy for Blot, but it was still amazing.

Director with her husband Anatoly Mukasey. Photo: legion-media.ru

– Have you completed the shooting of the fourth “Midshipmen”, do you have a feeling of victory?

– It’s expensive, especially historical, multi-figured, and even war – it’s generally unbelievable. We think that this is our final film project. It must happen that by my age and the age of my charming Mukasey (Svetlana’s husband – cameraman Anatoly Mukasey – ed.) it was necessary to shoot the most difficult project of our creative path.

– Domogarov, Kharatyan, Boyarsky are filming for you. Did they agree out of friendship or was there also a vested interest?

– Well, what kind of selfish interest? Domogarov, Kharatyan, Boyarsky, Mishechka Mamaev, the stunning Orbakaite Cross and Olechka Mashnaya. Everyone who came from my previous projects, they all help me.

– Why did you choose Orbakaite for the role of Catherine II?

She is German and this is very important. You can have a good mouth, nose, be a very talented actress, like Marina Alexandrova in the movie “Catherine”. She did a great job, but… she’s very Russian.

Ekaterina was a German, after all, and all this can be read in Christina. Few people know that she is actually von Orbach. Her papa was the heir to those same von Orbachs. She lived in Lithuania until she was six years old, she was taken to the church. It’s all in the blood, it’s all there. Innate inner strength, thought, inner world. Christina has a very precise sense of time and space, she is an incredibly organized person. Yes, of course, Alla was an amazing mother, and Alla Borisovna must be given her due, but then Christina became independent. And when they began to show her: “Mom helped”, “singing plywood”, no, she is a “singing actress”. I went to her concert and was pleasantly surprised – nothing superfluous, nothing noisy, intrusive. Why doesn’t another person on the same stage with big money look like this? Because she has everything in her hands. She is the empress of her position.

Kristina Orbakaite. Photo: legion-media.ru

– You know the history of the Russian Empire very well. Which woman has the most respect for you?

– Of course, Catherine II. Leading the state is galleys. It’s hard work and responsibility. She collected a huge Russia. The Cossacks came to her and asked for forgiveness, with her the annexation of the Crimea began. Such a crazy responsibility, faith and love for the people. She kept saying: “I’m Russian, even though I’m German.”

– Who do you think still ruled the state, Catherine or her many favorites?

– All her favorites were her assistants, because they all had statesmanship and powerful statesmanship talents. They helped her realize her plans. A lot of nonsense has been written about her. You see, there was a lot of envy, and Russia has always experienced the dislike of the West and Europe. Catherine knew exactly how to use her mental, physical, intellectual abilities. Otherwise, she would not have written so many books and plays, would not have corresponded with Voltaire himself, would not have issued laws, she would have had no time to unite Russia. She went to bed at ten, got up at four or five. Until eight she wrote, then drank a cup of coffee. Started at eight. Who starts a business relationship at eight in the morning now?

– Sometimes you have to be harsh on the set, and I heard that you have a special person for this…

– There was such a person, now retired. I myself do not swear by my mother. Before the filming period begins, I gather the whole team and warn that if someone swears, then for the first time they will be forgiven, but with entering into the protocol and deducting fifty percent of the salary. If the second time, then everything, goodbye. I forgive the mat to some professions, only because without it one man cannot understand another.

– After the favorite film of millions of Soviet viewers “Girls” you were invited to Morocco and Zimbabwe. Tell us about it, who called you?

– I don’t know who called, but big postcards came, and then getting a postcard from Zimbabwe was something fantastic. There was something written in a foreign language, as I was later told, in the local one. That’s probably why they missed it. The film was shown abroad, it was quoted there, and a lot of people liked our girls.

A still from the film “Behind the Showcase of a Department Store”. Photo: legion-media.ru

– After the film “Behind the Store Window” you had a kind of admirer, who first bombarded you with letters, and then completely began to persecute you. How did this story end?

– Every actress and actor has their crazy fans.

Causes, Tips and Foods to Manage it

Does your child drool unintentionally? Have you observed that your child’s pillow or clothes are drenched in wetness? Drooling is common in children below 3 years of age. But if it continues after the age of 4, it may indicate other underlying conditions. Keep reading to understand more about the causes, symptoms, tips and foods to manage excessive drooling in children.

What is drooling?

Drooling is when too much saliva runs out of the mouth uncontrollably or unintentionally. It is also referred to as sialorrhea or ptyalism. Drooling is common in babies below 2 years of age because babies don’t have complete control over the muscles surrounding their mouth. People frequently drool while they are asleep. This can happen due to excessive salivation or weak oral muscles. Drooling can occasionally be a sign of neurological diseases such as autism, ADHD, Parkinson’s disease and cerebral palsy.

Types of drooling

Anterior sialorrhea

If the excess saliva is not contained, it will drip into the child’s face and, if not, their clothes.Cleanliness and skin care difficulties may result from this. As a result, they could also struggle to socialise.

Posterior sialorrhea

When saliva leaks down a children’s airway rather than being swallowed, it is referred to as posterior sialorrhea. Chronic lung irritation and other health problems can be brought on by this type of drooling issue.

Also check, Tips to manage sleep talking in kids

Symptoms of excessive drooling

The drooling is easily identifiable in case of anterior sialorrhea. Frequently, there is persistent drooling, which leaves chronically damp clothing. The drooling can occasionally be more severe at night which is characterised by damp bedding every morning.

Although posterior sialorrhea can be more hard to diagnose, it may need to be taken into account if the kid is frequently seen choking and coughing or seems susceptible to pneumonia.

Causes of excessive drooling

Drooling may be a sign of a health issue, a developmental delay, or the side effect of some medications. It may result from anything that causes an excessive amount of saliva to be produced, trouble swallowing, a lack of sensation in the lips and cheeks, poor muscular tone or issues with muscle control. Here are some major causes of drooling:

1. Age

Drooling is common in newborns and infants. The secretion of excessive saliva usually peaks between three and six months of age, and teething may make symptoms even worse.

2.Diet

The consumption of particular meals and beverages may increase salivation. Foods with a high acidic nature, such as citrus fruit and sugary foods have been linked to increased salivation.

3.Neurological conditions

Drooling may be the symptom of certain neurological conditions like

  • Cerebral palsy
  • Autism
  • ADHD
  • Stroke
  • Parkinson’s disease
  • Down’s syndrome
  • Multiple sclerosis

These conditions may result in muscle weakness that make it difficult to swallow saliva (dysphagia) and seal the mouth.

4.Infections

Certain infections like allergies, strep throat, tonsillitis and sinus can make it difficult to swallow and cause excessive drooling.

5.GERD

Gastrointestinal reflux disorder (GERD) is a digestive issue which causes the contents in the stomach to return back to the esophagus (food pipe) which results in damage of the inner lining of the esophagus. Difficulty to swallow or the sensation of a lump in the throat can be brought on by GERD. Some people have excessive drooling as a result of this sensation.

Also check, Home remedies for acid reflux

6.Sleep apnea

Drooling may be a sign of sleep apnea. When you have sleep apnea, your breathing pauses periodically throughout the night, which disrupts your sleep. Sleep apnea is a serious condition and requires medical attention.

Also check, Improper sleep cycle in kids with ASD and ADHD

7.Side effects of medications

Some drugs may increase your tendency to drool. It has been demonstrated that antipsychotic drugs can make people drool excessively. Antibiotics might cause excessive drooling as well.

Treatment for excessive drooling

Therapies

Speech and occupational therapists can help with excessive drooling. They teach how to position and control the posture of the mouth which can help with lip closure and swallowing problems. Therapists may also advise that you consult a nutritionist in order to reduce the number of acidic foods in your diet.

Also check, Types of therapies in autism

Oral motor therapy

Oral motor refers to the way our mouth’s muscles are used. The tongue, lips, cheeks, and jaw are all included in this. All of them are components of our mouth that are connected to numerous muscles; like all muscles, they can be strong or weak. Oral motor mouth exercises indeed help in strengthening the oral muscles and also aid in chewing and swallowing actions.

Also check, Oral motor exercises for kids

Dental device

A specialised appliance implanted in the mouth aids with lip closure when swallowing. This choice will work best for the ones who have some swallowing control.

Tips for parents to manage excessive drooling in children

1.Sleeping position

Altering your child’s sleep position is the first thing you should do. In order to prevent saliva from dripping down your face or soaking your pillow, it is best to sleep on your back. This will allow you to better control the flow of saliva.

2. Sensory activities

Blowing bubbles, humming a song and making exaggerated lip noises like “ooh,” “eee,” and “puh-puh-puh” are the simple fun activities that improve oral sensitivity. As a result, a child’s lips, tongue, mouth, and chin become more sensitive. This helps your child to distinguish between dryness and wetness so that he/she can recognise when he is drooling.

Also check, Sensory activities for kids

3. Practice wiping with handkerchief

Encourage your child to use a napkin or handkerchief to wipe his face while he is learning to recognise the presence of wetness on his face. Practise of “wipe (one side of mouth), wipe (other side of mouth) and swallow” during mealtimes can help to promote this socially acceptable behaviour. To promote this practice during meals, attach the handkerchief to a bracelet of your child.

Also check, Tips to maintain personal hygiene

4. Avoid certain foods

Avoid citrus fruits, sweet foods, and sour foods that can trigger excess saliva production. Dry and bland food items like bread or crackers may assist in absorbing more saliva and offer quick relief.

5. Reward your kid

Make a reward system to encourage your child as they chew, swallow, wipe, and most importantly, keep their face dry and clean. Always try to encourage and compliment your child. For example:

“That’s fantastic. I’m very glad you chewed and swallowed the cookies !”

Foods that help to manage excessive drooling in children

The types of food that can aid motor functioning that can effectively impact oral functioning include:

1. Nuts

Children who bite and chew more fibrous sources of protein, such as nuts, have stronger jaws and are less likely to experience bite problems. Apart from that all the nuts like almonds, walnuts, cashew, peanuts and hazelnuts are rich in vitamin E and help in boosting memory. They are also antioxidants which protect against cell damage. Walnuts are rich in omega 3 fatty acids and are also valuable substance for brain function, memory and thinking abilities.

Also check, Best nuts and seeds for protein.

2. Seeds

Seeds like flax, chia, melon, sesame and pumpkins also contain powerful antioxidants like vitamin E that protect the brain from free radical damage. Sunflower seeds impact overall mood and mental processing powers and therefore it is considered a brain boosting snack. Pumpkin seeds are high in magnesium, copper, and also higher in zinc than other seeds. They also help in increasing concentration and memory. Healthy brain can effectively help in improving oral functioning.

Also check, Health benefits of pumpkin seeds.

2. Ashwagandha

Ashwagandha is an adaptogen. It can help in reducing anxiety and stress. Moreover, it increases acetylcholine levels which support better memory, mental focus and intelligence. Ashwagandha also improves communication between nerve cells and stimulates the body’s capacity to heal any nervous system damage. For general nourishment and renewal, ashwagandha is typically eaten with ghee and honey (in equal parts), which serve as anupans (a medium for delivering herbs deeper into the tissues).

Also check, Health benefits of Ashwagandha.

3. Brahmi

Brahmi is a superfood for the brain. It helps in sharpening the brain by protecting cells and also increases the chemicals associated with learning and memory. It has shown to improve spatial learning and retaining power in kids. Kids in the older times, were often given Brahmi powder with ghee/honey. This would increase their focus and attention while keeping them calm and distressed. The most notable advantage of brahmi is that it enhances cognitive abilities and also stimulates the mind to increase focus and memory. Bacopa, taken twice daily at a dose of 300 mg, was found to improve test results related to cognitive function after six weeks of regular treatment.

Also check, Herbs for kids.

4. Shankhapushpi

Shankhapushpi is a traditional remedy for increasing the functioning of the brain. The powerful antioxidants and also the flavonoids present in it improve the memory capacity, focus, concentration, calmness and alertness of an individual. Because it is a brain tonic and stimulator, people taking shankhapushpi have improved memory, reasoning, problem-solving, and other cognitive abilities.

Also check, Herbs that help to get rid of brain fog.

5. Cocoa Powder

Pure cocoa powder (unsweetened) contains brain boosting components as it is packed with a large number of antioxidants molecules, the main is epicatechin helpful to improve cognition and speech impairment in studies. Hence cocoa powder is also an important brain development food for children. This may significantly help out in easily building up the oral motor skills.

What is drooling?

Drooling is a dripping of saliva from the mouth. A lot of drooling can irritate the skin of the face, neck, and chest. It can also be embarrassing to an older child.

What is the cause?

It’s normal for babies to drool. As babies get older, they normally stop drooling. Most children don’t drool after the age of 4 years. However, children with some disabilities drool a lot because their muscles and nerves don’t work properly and it’s hard for them to swallow saliva. A child may also drool if they are making too much saliva or if their teeth don’t fit together in the right way.

How is it diagnosed?

Your child’s healthcare provider will examine your child. Your child may have X-ray tests of swallowing.

How is it treated?

If your child drools a lot, the problem can be treated in several ways:

  • Treatment by a speech or occupational therapist
    • Therapists can help your child learn to close the lips, move the saliva to the back of the mouth, and swallow.
    • Learning how to use a straw to drink fluids can help.
    • Improving posture and body position can also be helpful.
  • Medicines

Medicines may be used to help some children make less saliva while they are learning how to swallow better.

  • Surgery

Surgery may be done to change the direction of the ducts that lead from the salivary glands to the mouth, or to remove salivary gland tissue.

Sometimes the surgery may be done with a laser. This treatment allows a quicker recovery than other types of surgery.

  • Botulinum injection

Shots of a medicine called Botulinum toxin (Botox) may be given into the glands that make saliva. The shots are given after your child is given an anesthetic to numb the area. This treatment helps reduce drooling and lasts up to 8 months.

How can I take care of my child?

  • Follow the treatment recommended by your child’s healthcare provider.
  • Use bibs to help protect skin and clothing. The use of bandannas, or a bib that matches the shirt or dress, especially in older children, can make the bib less noticeable.

Ask your healthcare provider:

  • How to take care of your child at home
  • What symptoms or problems you should watch for and what to do if your child has them

Make sure you know when you should bring your child back for a checkup.

Sialorrhoea is excessive salivation outside the oral cavity. This condition is considered pathological after 4 years of life. It can be considered both as a separate symptom and as a concomitant condition in various diseases (cerebral palsy, Parkinson’s disease, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis) or as a side effect of taking medications.

Causes of sialorrhea can be:

• excessive production of saliva

• impaired control of saliva movement in the mouth or when it is swallowed.

In cerebral palsy, excessive salivation from the oral cavity occurs as a result of a violation of the transmission of neuromuscular impulses for the coordinated work of the muscles of the oral cavity, larynx, pharynx and esophagus and the act of swallowing itself. Thus, in children and adolescents with diagnosed neurological diseases, excessive salivation is primarily the result of impaired tongue function and swallowing control, and not the result of excessive salivation.

The prevalence of this problem among children and adolescents diagnosed with cerebral palsy is high – up to 58% of children, while up to 33% suffer from severe forms [1].

Excessive salivation in children and adolescents significantly affects the medical and social aspects of life. Occur: loss of fluid from the body, aspiration of saliva (ingress of saliva into the respiratory tract), skin lesions around the mouth. Parents have to constantly monitor the secretion of saliva, use napkins and bibs. The skin of a child diagnosed with sialorrhea requires special care. Excessive salivation can become an obstacle to the social adaptation of the child, can negatively affect his psychological state, limit his daily activity.

In the treatment of excessive salivation in children and adolescents, conservative, medical and surgical methods are used. There are contraindications, it is necessary to consult a specialist.

Conservative therapy includes:

• Power correction

• Speech therapy massage

• Various saliva collection

to drug therapy includes:

• Use of anticholinergics of drugs

• anticholinergic therapy (local subcutaneous injection of a special drug)

• injection of botulinum toxin into the salivary glands.

Surgical methods include:

• removal of the salivary glands

• termination of the nervous regulation of the salivary glands

• closure of the efferent ducts of the salivary glands toxin in the salivary glands under ultrasonic control. This drug has a local anticholinergic effect. It blocks the transmission of nerve impulses and reduces the secretion of saliva by the salivary glands. There are contraindications, it is necessary to consult a specialist.

Efficacy is achieved 2-4 weeks after injection and lasts up to 3 months or more after injection. Of the adverse reactions, dry mouth may occur, an increase in the viscosity of saliva.

In Russia, the use of this technique in chronic sialorrhea is included in the official indications for the use of botulinum toxin.

There are contraindications, it is necessary to consult a specialist.

Memo to Parents – about croup syndrome in children

Memo to Parents – about croup syndrome in children
(developed by specialists of the Federal State Autonomous Institution “National Medical
Research Center for Children’s Health

In children of the first years of life, false croup occurs quite often, so parents need to be aware of this particular disease. Timely recognition of the symptoms of croup will help to cope with this condition faster.

What is false croup?

• Croup is difficulty in breathing due to constriction of the larynx. To feel where the larynx is, you can put your hand on the front of the neck and make any sound the larynx will vibrate under your hand.
• True croup is called inflammation of the larynx in diphtheria, when the lumen of the larynx is blocked by dense films. Fortunately, thanks to mass vaccinations around the world, this formidable severe disease is extremely rare these days.
• False croup – a condition in which it becomes difficult for a child to breathe due to swelling and narrowing of the airways. The reason is a viral infection, which leads to swelling of the mucous membrane not only in the nasopharynx, but also in the larynx and trachea. The most common cause of croup is the parainfluenza virus. The mucous membrane becomes inflamed under the action of the virus, swells, and although films do not form, as in diphtheria, the result is the same – it is difficult for the child to breathe.
• Part of the airway in the larynx is quite narrow, and if the mucous membrane swells, it can completely block the lumen of the larynx, and air will not enter the lungs. In children under 5-6 years of age, the airways are narrower than in adults, therefore, croup against the background of a viral infection usually develops in the first years of life, not occurring in older children and adults.
If a baby with a cold has a cough that becomes “barking”, and the voice is hoarse, breathing becomes noisy and difficult, it can be assumed that he is developing croup syndrome.

Can false croup be prevented?

• Not all children get croup. But one or two false croups at a younger age is a common situation that does not cause concern about the future.
• What predisposes to the development of croup? Obviously, there are children with peculiarities of the anatomy of the larynx, respiratory tract, who are more prone to this disease. Often, one of the parents of such babies also had croup in childhood. On the other hand, there are viruses that cause croup more often than others. Therefore, meeting with these pathogens increases the likelihood of developing a false croup.
• In most cases, false croup develops no more than once or twice in a lifetime. But there are children in whom almost every respiratory disease is complicated by croup.
• With age, the likelihood of developing croup decreases, and after 6-7 years this condition usually occurs only in special cases; in children with malformations of the larynx and trachea or in children with allergic reactions (swelling of the larynx is associated not with a viral infection, but with an allergy).

How does it all begin?
Usually, the usual symptoms of an acute respiratory infection appear first, that is, a runny nose, cough, and a fever is possible. The first signs of the proximity of a false croup arise or intensify in the evening and early morning: this is an increasing dry “barking” cough and a hoarse voice. Then the breath becomes “noisy” – at first only during crying or anxiety, that is, when the baby breathes deeper and faster. After a while, if left untreated, these symptoms persist even in a calm state.
With croup, it is difficult for a baby to inhale, that is, the inhalation turns out to be noisy, with effort, and the exhalation remains normal. During inhalation, you can notice how the jugular fossa (depression in the lower part of the neck between the collarbones) is drawn inward. This symptom appears only with severe swelling of the airways and is a reason for immediate help to the child.

What to do with false croup?

• So, the main three signs of the development of a false croup in a child are hoarseness, a rough “barking” cough (you can’t confuse it with anything!) and noisy breathing. In a child with a viral infection (with a runny nose), these symptoms usually appear suddenly at night or in the early morning.
• If this happened to your child, first of all, you need to calm yourself and the child, because with excitement, crying, the muscles of the larynx are compressed, and it becomes even harder to breathe.
• Call an ambulance!
• To alleviate the condition, you can apply cold to the front of the neck. You can open a window. Steam inhalation may help somewhat.
• However, these remedies do not work for everyone and besides, the procedure can waste precious time!
• If you have experienced this condition before, you most likely have a nebulizer at home, inhaled budesonide, and clear instructions from your pediatrician about the sequence of your actions.
• If this is not the case, and the situation is new to you, call an ambulance, do not waste time watching the child.
• Usually, with croup, the doctor prescribes special inhalations with a hormonal drug. Do not be afraid of the word “hormonal”, because this drug acts only locally – in the respiratory tract, eliminating inflammation, and no other medicine for false croup will not be so effective.
• In severe cases, the doctor will give the child a hormonal drug (prednisolone or dexamethasone) intramuscularly. Don’t worry about side effects because short courses of hormonal treatments are safe and life-saving in these situations!
• If you are offered to hospitalize your child, do not refuse, because after a temporary relief of breathing problems may recur!

What if not cereal?

Even if you are an experienced parent who knows how to deal with false croup in your children, you need to remember that there are conditions that can be confused with false croup. These include, for example, inflammation of the epiglottis (cartilage that closes the larynx when swallowing). This disease is called epiglottitis: the child’s temperature usually rises above 39‘C, sore throat worries, mouth opens with difficulty, salivation appears (problems with swallowing). In this case, hormonal drugs will not help. The child needs to be urgently hospitalized, and it is necessary to transport him in the presence of medical personnel, in a sitting position, without causing any discomfort, in order to reduce his excitement.

(Teacher
pronounces the words in a whisper, the students repeat them out loud in chorus):

We are smart!

We are friendly!

We are attentive!

We are diligent!

We are great students!

We will succeed!

II . Introduction by the teacher.

– Today in class we will talk about
mode of your day.

– Tell me, why is it important to keep a daily routine? (To
a day was allocated to keep your health)

– Now we will take a short trip
according to the daily routine and see if everyone follows it.

– On the board we will write down each item
mode in order.

III . Travel by day.

– So how do we start our day? (Get up)

-That’s right! We write down.

– What do we do next? ( We wash ourselves)

Right! We write down.

1. Get up.

2. We wash ourselves.

I washed my hands under the tap,

But I forgot to wash my face.

Trezor saw me,

Shouted: “What a shame!”

– Do you wash your face like this?

-How is it?

– What should be washed?

-Listen to the tale of microbes.

A fairy tale about microbes.

Once upon a time
microbes are carriers of various diseases. More than anything, they loved dirt.
The dirtier, the more pleasant they were and the more they became.

Here on
someone left unwashed plates, crumbs, pieces of bread on the table. It’s like a fly here.
And there are hundreds of microbes on her paws, especially if she flew in from the garbage dump. Fly
flew away, and the microbes remained on the table – on plates, on bread, and they think:
“It’s good that there are flies and dirty things in the world.” And it became expanse for microbes. AND
you can get on your hands, and into the mouth of a person, And there you can get sick!

– Think about what is true in a fairy tale, and what is fiction?

– What will help us defeat germs?

Doctor Water’s advice:

a) wash thoroughly once a week;

b) in the morning, after sleep, wash hands, face, neck, ears;

c) every day my feet and hands before going to bed;

d) be sure to wash your hands after cleaning, using the toilet, playing,
walks, communication with animals, work in the garden, travel in transport.

– How do animals take care of themselves?

– The cat licks itself with its tongue.

– An elephant from a trunk pours water over himself.

– Brown bears bathe their cubs by holding them by the scruff of the neck.

– Raccoons sing paws and muzzle in the river.

-And after that, what needs to be done? (Brush your teeth)

– That’s right! We brush our teeth. We write down.

3. Brush your teeth.

– How many times a day do we brush our teeth? (Twice: in the morning and in the evening)

– What objects do we use to brush our teeth? (Toothbrush,
toothpaste)

– Which teeth should be brushed?

– How do you start brushing your teeth?

– Why does he clean inside?

– What do we clean after teeth? (language)

– What is left for us to do? (rinse mouth)

4. Charging.

IV . Fizminutka.

– Let’s do exercises for the animals.

a) “Giraffe” – head up and down, circular movements
right left.

b) “Octopus” – circular movements of the shoulders, shoulders
raise, lower.

c) “Bird” – hands up, down, circular movements
hands.

d) “Monkey” – tilts, circular movements
torso.

e) “Horse” – raising the leg, bending at the knees.

one leg.

g) “Cat” – stretching the whole body, bending
spine.

– This is us
mimic the movements of the animals.

– And now
Let’s do one exercise.

“Good morning (music)

– Wake up!

– Wake up!

(Children perform
step forward in place.)

Get up!

I’m rising! (Hands up, stretch.)

Wash your face!

I wash my face! (Children “wash” their faces with their hands.)

– Pour yourself!

I pour myself ! (Shake hands. )

Dry off!

Drying off! (Imitation of the “wiping” motion.)

-Get dressed!

I’m getting dressed! (Patting yourself on the back.)

Get ready!

I’m going! (Turns around you.)

And goodbye!

And I say goodbye! (Farewell waves above the head.)

Teacher . What are the important moments of the daily routine
missed?

Students. Breakfast and exercise.

5. Getting dressed.

6. Studying at school.

B. Zakhoder’s poem “Change”.

“Change, change!” –

Ringing.

Vova will certainly be the first

Flies over the threshold.

Flies over the threshold –

Knocks down seven.

Is it really Vova,

Dozing the whole lesson?

Could it really be Vova

Not a word five minutes ago

Couldn’t say at the blackboard?

If he is, then, undoubtedly,

With him – a big change!

He managed in five minutes

Do a bunch of things:

He tripped three steps

(Vaska, Kolka and Seryozhka),

Rolled somersault,

He sat on the railing.

famously flopped off the railing,

received a cuff.

Immediately gave someone back,

Asked to write off tasks –

In a word, he did everything he could!

You can’t keep up with Vova!

Well, here comes the bell again.

Vova trudges to class again.

Poor! There is no face on it.

Look how bad he is!

– Nothing, – Vova sighs,

– Let’s have a rest at the lesson.

– What behavioral mistakes did Vova make?

7. Lunch.

Reading a poem by S. Mikhalkov “About a girl who
ate badly.”

Yulia does not eat well,
does not listen to anyone.

– Eat an egg
Yulechka!
– I don’t want to, mommy!
– Eat a sandwich with sausage! –
Julia covers her mouth.

– Soup?
– No…
– Cutlet?
– No… –
Yulechkin’s dinner is getting cold.

– What’s wrong with you
Yulechka?
– Nothing, mommy!

– Do it
girl, sip,
Swallow another bite!
Have pity on us, Yulechka!
– I can’t, mommy!

Mother and grandmother in
in tears –
Julia is melting before our eyes!

There was a child
doctor –
Gleb Sergeevich Pugach.

Looks strictly and
angrily:
– Does Yulia have no appetite?
I just see that she,
Of course, is not sick!

And I’ll tell you
girl:
Everyone eats – both the beast and the bird,
From rabbits to kittens
Everyone in the world wants to eat.

Crunchy Horse
chewing oats.
The yard Dog gnaws at the bone.
Sparrows peck at grain,
Wherever they get it,
Elephant has breakfast in the morning –
He loves fruit.

Brown Bear licks
honey.
A mole is having dinner in a mink.
The monkey eats a banana.
Looking for acorns Boar.

Catching midges
clever Swift.
Swiss cheese
Loves the Mouse…

Said goodbye to Yulia
doctor –
Gleb Sergeevich Pugach.
And Julia said loudly:
– Feed me, Mommy!

– What products should I take to cook borscht? (pictures from
products)

8. Rest.

Task “Love – do not love”

(Sign “-” if you do not like the activity, “+” – if you love it. )

– games on the street

– watching TV

– playing at home

– helping around the house

– lunch

– reading books

– doing nothing

– lessons

– hobby

9 0002 – doing sports

9. Dinner.

What can you have for dinner?

10. Sleep.

Analysis of S. Mikhalkov’s poem “Don’t Sleep”.

I hate the word
“sleep”!

I eat every
times,

When I hear:
“March to bed!

It’s ten o’clock already!”

No, I don’t sleep, I
don’t get angry –

I’m tea in the kitchen
I drink.

I’m not going anywhere
I’m in a hurry.

When I get drunk –
then get drunk!

I got drunk
I get up

And, falling asleep on
walk,

Wash face and hands
I am going…

I am undressing
half an hour,

And somewhere in
half asleep

I hear someone
voices,

What are they arguing about
to me.

Through the dispute
familiar voices

I can clearly hear
clock chime.

And dad to mom
says:

“Look, look,
he’s sitting up asleep!

How nice to have
rights

go to bed
at least an hour! At least two!

Four! Or in
five!

And sometimes, but
sometimes

(And in this, really,
no harm!)

All night long
don’t sleep!

-Which of you goes to bed like the hero of a poem?

-Why did he fall asleep sitting up?

-Is it really possible not to sleep at all and this does not harm health?

-What does a person feel when he has not slept well?

– Demand for
sleep in people is different at different ages. Children 8-10 years old are recommended to sleep
10-11 o’clock, go to bed at 21 o’clock. But the main thing is well-being: if a person
wake up alert after sleep, without feeling drowsy, which means that the duration
sleep is sufficient. A person sleeps a third of his life, about 25 years.

V .
Outcome.

– Why is it necessary to observe the daily routine, especially for children?

– Which of you can repeat regime moments.

1. Get up.

2.
We wash ourselves.

3. Brushing teeth

4. Charging

Daily routine is an important condition for maintaining the health of both adults and children. Thanks to it, mental and physical performance increases, sleep and appetite improve, and human health is strengthened. It is important to form a daily routine at an early age. In the article we will give a definition of the daily routine, briefly consider what it should be like for children.

What is the daily routine for

The daily routine is a certain routine of work and rest, sleep and nutrition. Only with a competent combination of them can a person work fruitfully and restore strength.

Compliance with the regime requires self-discipline from a person, because day after day you need to perform, in fact, the same actions. It may seem boring, but a lot depends on the correct daily routine:

  • performance;
  • school performance;
  • mental and physical development;
  • general health.

Fig. 1. Lesson at school.

The mode allows a person not only to maintain his health at a good level. It teaches a person to be organized, independent, use time wisely, and achieve goals.

How the day mode works

The human body, its organs and organ systems work in a certain rhythm. That is why compliance with the regime helps the human body to work as efficiently and fruitfully as possible. It is based on the observance of reflexes, which after a while are fixed and turn into good habits. These include:

  • The habit of falling asleep at the same time promotes fast falling asleep, restful sleep, good rest of the whole organism during the night sleep.
  • Eating at a certain time helps the body digest food better, promotes a good appetite, and normalizes the entire digestive system.
  • Regular exercise strengthens muscles, develops endurance, strength, and flexibility.

Rice. 2. Playing badminton.

Suitable daily routine for a student

It is impossible to establish a single daily routine for all schoolchildren. However, there are rules that allow children to grow up healthy, smart and strong. Mandatory performance should include:

  • Morning exercises. It will help the body wake up after sleep, energize, set to work. It is not necessary to do exercises, just dance to your favorite music.
  • Compliance with personal hygiene is a mandatory condition of the daily routine. Brush your teeth twice a day, wash your hands with soap every time after the street and before eating, take a shower once a day.
  • Find time to practice in the sports section. It can be anything: dancing, athletics, football, karate, rollerblading. The main thing is regular physical activity.
  • You need to take food at the same time. In addition to breakfast, lunch and dinner, you need to include two more light snacks: in the morning and afternoon.

Fig. 3. Morning exercises.

Important. After classes, you need to set aside some time for a relaxing holiday. However, it should not include hours of watching cartoons on TV or playing games on a computer or smartphone. Gadgets should be given no more than 30 minutes a day.

What have we learned?

The daily routine is an alternation of work and rest, sleep and nutrition.

ask your questions to the staff of the kindergarten 2

Time flies by. It seems that your baby has just been born, and the time has come to decide who will be involved in his upbringing – a mother, a nanny or a kindergarten.
Doctors, teachers, psychologists and sociologists believe that kindergartens are the best place for comprehensive development of children. Why is it so important and necessary? Because only in kindergarten will a child learn:

Find compromises
Stand up for yourself
Consider other people’s opinions 900 58
Communicate with peers

future independent life, because this institution is a reduced model of society. Kindergarten teaches a small person to enter into social relationships, to solve communication problems. In the future, this will help him in his school years, at the institute and at work.
Many parents may argue that children get sick more often in kindergarten. However, it is not. It is erroneously believed that in places where many children gather, it is impossible to avoid an epidemic. In fact, environmental conditions play a decisive role in kindergarten. If they are built correctly, then the child will get sick much less often than at home.

  • Children’s holiday Sabantuy
    05/31/2023

The rich culture of our multinational region provides great opportunities for the upbringing and education of the younger generation. Each nation has its own traditions, holidays, games. Sabantuy (plow holiday) was considered one of the significant and great holidays in our republic.

The traditional holiday “Sabantuy” was held in our kindergarten. The guys competed in strength, agility and endurance, played competitive games and showed their skills in national games. “Running in bags”, “Who will quickly carry the water”, “Pull the rope”, “Carry the egg in a spoon”, etc.

The little participants of Sabantuy will have unforgettable impressions of this beautiful national holiday for a long time.

  • Graduation parties!
    05/25/2023

Graduation ball in kindergarten is the most touching, most unforgettable of all holidays.

From May 19 to May 25 graduation parties took place in our kindergarten. Preparing for the graduation party was very exciting and responsible. There were songs and dances, games and gifts at the celebration. Festive costumes for boys, dresses with fluffy skirts for girls decorated the holiday. Beautiful songs about kindergarten, about educators, about parents excited everyone present. Incendiary dances from the first chords were accompanied by applause from the audience. Our children have said goodbye to kindergarten and are preparing for a new stage in their lives – going to school.

  • Educational and training evacuation of pupils and employees from the building in case of fire
    05/16/2023

Fire safety drills were held in the kindergarten. After the automatic fire alarm system went off, the children and all kindergarten staff left the building. Planned object training and exercises went according to the scenario. The educators and the children worked well together: in a matter of minutes, they left the “dangerous” territory in an organized manner without panic.

About Mary Immaculate Preschool

Prepare for the years ahead with enrollment at Mary Immaculate Preschool! Mary Immaculate Preschool is a center-based early care and education provider based in Houston. Centers like Mary Immaculate Preschool educate the whole child in a school-like environment that can help prepare students for formal school down the road. Parents will find enriching activities and a curriculum to grow spatial, vocabulary and others skills at a school like Mary Immaculate Preschool along with a community of peers of similar ages. With a full-time schedule, as well, Mary Immaculate Preschool allows parents to work and assume other responsibilities while their children are playing and learning amongst their peers. Children have the opportunity to get used to the natural rhythms of a daily structured learning environment with a full-time schedule, which can help smooth the transition into kindergarten and future education. The full-time schedule allows plenty of opportunities for creativity and fun, too, as the day always feels too short when you’re having fun! Students at Mary Immaculate Preschool will also receive a faith-based religious learning curriculum that sets students up for a life of love, belief and wonder. Students will participate in learning activities taught through the lens of the faith tradition and experience early the core joys of belief and the greater embrace of a community of believers. Parents will enjoy becoming a part of Mary Immaculate Preschool’s greater community of faith, as well, and forming relationships with others of similar faith.

· Determine maximum capacity for students of each vehicle while meeting 6-foot physical distancing requirement.

· Create a plan for seating based upon maximum capacity determined above, and develop a plan for bus routes that accommodates the capacity limitations.

· Mark or block seats that must be left vacant. Sample seating options

o Option 1: Seat one student to a bench on both sides of the bus, skipping every other row

o Option 2: Seat one student to a bench, alternating rows on each side to create a zigzag pattern on the bus

· Instruct students and parents to maintain 6-foot distancing at bus stops and while loading/unloading the bus

· Seat students from the rear of the bus forward to prevent students from walking past each other. To prevent students from walking past each other, afternoon runs should be boarded based upon the order in which students will be dropped off. (Students who get dropped off first should board the bus last, and sit in the front)

· Students and staff must wear face coverings at bus stops and on buses

· Follow all cleaning practices per CDC Cleaning and Disinfecting Your Facilityguidelines

· Vehicles may have exceeded a 45-day maintenance or inspection date while sitting out of service during the COVID-19 stay-at-home orders. Vehicles need to meet all maintenance and inspection requirements before being placed back into service in accordance with Title 13 CCR 1232 Periodic Preventive Maintenance Inspection

· Schools and drivers need to make sure the vehicle’s certificate is still valid and that 13 months from the last inspection have not been exceeded in accordance with Vehicle Code 2807 Lawful Orders and Inspections

MIQ Children and Families Need Your Help

During these unsettling times, one thing is certain, our community’s unwavering commitment to Catholic education. Our families have been impacted by a hardship such COVID-19 pandemic. Some have been laid off, furloughed, or had significant reduction in salaries. Families who are small business owners are struggling to make ends meet, and some of our students are wondering if their families will be able to continue to provide them with an MIQ education.

Please continue to pray for our MIQ family, and if you can, please consider a contribution to the Knight Relief Fund. The fund will provide additional tuition assistance for our students and help make up the difference in anticipated financial losses to the school due to the postponement of our fundraising efforts. These fundraising efforts historically generate over $100,000 and have a direct impact on student programs and tuition support to our families.

To make your gift, contribute by check, please send your donation to:

Current data from other Catholic schools around the country are seeing families currently receiving aid needing an additional 20%-40%, as well as an increase in families, who under normal circumstances would be able to pay full tuition, requesting tuition assistance. Since we really have no idea how many families will need assistance this school year, our appeal will remain active through the end of July!

On behalf of our families in need, thank you for your generosity and willingness to help at this critical time. May God continue to keep you and your family safe and healthy and may God continue to bless Mary Immaculate Queen School.

Agatha Christie “The Seeds in the Pocket” – review from Arielliasa

Every time I return to Miss Marple , I return home.

Plot .
In the morning, Rex Fortescue dies at his workplace and his last words: “ Tea. .. what the hell… did you put in tea… ” Inspector Neil , investigating this sudden death, learns that the man was poisoned at breakfast, which he spent with his family at the Yew Hut. But guessing the identity of the killer is not so easy, because the victim was not loved and everyone benefits from his death. Yes, and this counting rhyme, which the old woman speaks of, who arrived just in time to help him.

Not surprising, but I’ll say it anyway. Too bad I didn’t have enough pages in this book. The investigation pleased, the new counting rhyme too ( the writer does an excellent job of inserting something like ), but the fact that the ending ended so abruptly was disappointing. I understand that this was not written to reveal the family drama, but I really wanted to see this. There were all the prerequisites and even opportunities, but as a result, dust in the eyes.

The crime itself is simple and one does not have to think long about the identity of the murderer, although the writer tries to show off, « substituting ” some characters with transparent hints that they could do it. But with the ease of unraveling, interest does not go anywhere. It was really interesting how the past of some heroes is revealed, how they reveal themselves under its influence and how they act in the present.

Most liked Mary Doe , Pat and Lancelot . All with a different character, dreams and image, but they are better written than the others. Impeccable Mary , smiling after the murder, as if it did not touch her at all ( in the last conversation with the inspector, she surpassed herself ). Calm and reasonable Pat , who found herself in the circle of someone else’s family, unlike her own. And bad boy Lancelot saying the right things and showing his brother in a not very flattering light just because he can. Most often, men like him leave me indifferent, but besides the badness, there is a lot more hidden in him, so I could not pass by and not appreciate it.

I also want to say a little about the motives that prompted the crime. People who live from childhood with the knowledge that money is the key to a happy life ( which is not far from the truth, as they say, it is not money that matters, but their number ) do not often change. They get used to and growing up, remain the same, even despite all the good things that happen to them. And killing does not become something difficult for them, because beliefs are more important than the moral component. You can condemn, hate for cold-bloodedness and expose a villain, but I did not succeed. Yes, crime is always bad, but some people just don’t see the difference between good and evil and can’t be changed.

Miss Marple played a significant role, although it appeared in the middle of the book, and, as always, pleased. I don’t know why I love this old woman so much, for all our dissimilarity to each other, but I’m not going to change anything. She is so good.
