Tips for Protecting Children from Environmental Threats
Origin, education May 9, 1917 in Brookline, Massachusetts, to an Irish family. His father, Joseph Kennedy, was an entrepreneur, Democratic politician, in the 1930s. headed the Securities and Exchange Commission and was the US Ambassador to the UK, maintained friendly relations with President Franklin Roosevelt. Paternal grandfather – Patrick Joseph Kennedy – was also an entrepreneur and a member of the Democratic Party (DP), was elected to the US House of Representatives. Maternal grandfather John Francis Fitzgerald, a member of the Democratic Party, was elected mayor of Boston three times. In 1935, John F. Kennedy entered Harvard University, but soon took the documents. Then he was admitted to Princeton University, but also dropped out. In 1936, he again entered Harvard, where he studied with a degree in international relations. In the summer of 1937, he traveled to European countries, in particular, he visited fascist Italy and Nazi Germany. After this trip, I became interested in history and politics. In 1940 he defended his thesis “The Policy of Appeasement in Munich”, which analyzed British policy in the face of Nazi aggression. Military service After the US entered World War II in December 1941, Kennedy tried several times to go to the front, but each time he was refused a medical board. However, in 1942, he nevertheless entered the service – first with the Naval Intelligence Agency in Washington, then – at the military shipyard in Charleston in South Carolina. In 1943, after completing courses in torpedo boat control, with the rank of lieutenant, he was sent to the Pacific Ocean, where hostilities were fought with Japan, and took command of the boat RT-109. August 2, 1943 in the area of the Solomon Islands, his boat was rammed by a Japanese destroyer. Two of the thirteen crew members died and the ship sank. After spending nine hours in the water, the survivors reached the nearest island, while Kennedy, who had a back injury, pulled one of the wounded along with him. Ten days later he managed to return to the front. But in December 1943 he fell ill with malaria and was hospitalized, and in March 1945 he was sent to the reserve. For his bravery and leadership, he received a number of awards, including the Navy and Marine Corps medal and the US Defense Service Medal, and the wound was awarded the Purple Heart medal. Congressman and Senator After the war, agreeing to his father’s persuasion, Kennedy decides to devote himself to politics. In 1946 he was elected to the US House of Representatives from Massachusetts. During the election campaign, in which Kennedy Sr. invested $ 300,000, John F. Kennedy emphasized economic problems, but the basis of success, according to his biographers, was youth, military exploits and the slogan “The new generation offers its leader.” Re-elected in 1948 and 1950. He served on the Veterans Affairs and Education and Labor Committees and established himself as a politician with liberal views. In 1952, with the help of financial support from the Kennedy family, he won elections to the Senate. In 1958 he was re-elected and served until the end of 1960. However, his achievements in both houses of the US Congress were small due to forced absence due to illness and spinal surgery. In addition, in 1954, he suffered serious reputational losses when he abstained from voting for a resolution condemning the immoderate anti-communist activities of Senator McCarthy, although he publicly opposed McCarthyism. President In the 1960 presidential election, the 43-year-old Kennedy received 49.7% of the popular vote, beating Richard Nixon by just 0.2%. He became the youngest elected president of the United States, as well as the first (and so far the only) American Catholic president. Kennedy took office during the country’s economic recovery, but by 1962 GDP growth had slowed down. In 1962, the president got the monopolies to reduce the price of steel, in 1963 he submitted a tax reform proposal to Congress, proposing to reduce the corporate income tax from 52% to 47% and reduce the personal income tax scale from 20-91% to 14-65%, however the Republicans rejected it. In 1961-1962, despite attempts to improve the economic welfare of the country, 3 million unemployed people were left without benefits, and the increase in the minimum wage to $1. 25 affected only 3.6 million of the 26.6 million low-paid workers. The measures taken by the administration to combat unemployment (the law on assistance to areas of depression, on the retraining of workers, on vocational education) did not bring tangible results. Kennedy long refrained from major changes in legislation related to the civil rights of African Americans. Only at 19In 1963, as a wave of protests from the colored population swept through the country, he introduced a bill in Congress to prohibit segregation in public places (the law was approved in April 1964). In foreign policy, the beginning of his presidency was marked by an unsuccessful operation in the Bay of Pigs (an attempt to overthrow the government of Fidel Castro in Cuba in April 1961). Then there were unsuccessful negotiations with the Soviet leader Nikita Khrushchev on June 4, 1961 in Vienna, dedicated to the settlement of the Berlin crisis (1958-1962), the Lao Civil War (1960-1973) and the arms race. The apogee of the Cold War was the Caribbean Crisis (1962), when tensions between Washington and Moscow could lead to nuclear war. The parties managed to reach a compromise – during the negotiations, the USSR undertook to remove the missiles from Cuba in exchange for the dismantling of American missiles in Turkey. Since the beginning of 1963, the US president has increasingly spoken out in favor of peaceful coexistence with the Soviet Union. In August 1963, the United States, the USSR and Great Britain signed a treaty banning nuclear weapons tests in the atmosphere, outer space and under water (which entered into force on October 1963). In 1961, the President created the Agency for International Development, whose activities are aimed at supporting the international interests of the United States, and initiated the Alliance for Progress program, which provided for the allocation of $ 20 billion to Latin American countries over 10 years in order to counteract left parties and movements in this region. In March 1961, the organization “Peace Corps” was created, which, on a voluntary basis, provided assistance to the population of the poorest countries in eliminating illiteracy, obtaining basic labor skills and knowledge. May 19In 1961, Kennedy spoke to Congress with a presentation of the Apollo program, the purpose of which was a manned landing of a man on the moon. In the same year, the first American military advisers and army units appeared in Vietnam ($3 billion was spent on the military presence in the country in 1961-1963). Personal information Kennedy was not in good health and during his school years spent most of his time in hospitals and sanatoriums. While studying at the university, he was also hospitalized for several months. Only at 1947, doctors found an explanation for a whole bunch of diseases from which he suffered since childhood – this is Addison’s disease, a rare disease caused by insufficient adrenal function. For the rest of his life, he took daily corticosteroids. When Kennedy became president, he was always followed by two assistants with “black suitcases”: one with the codes for launching a nuclear attack, the other with the drugs that the president constantly needed. In 1953, Kennedy married Jacqueline Lee Bouvier (Irish and French), a reporter for The Washington Times-Herald. They have two children: daughter Caroline (born at 1957) and son John (born in 1960, died in a car accident in 1999), two more died as soon as they were born. Jacqueline went down in history not only as the wife of the 35th President of the United States, but also as one of the most stylish and elegant women of the twentieth century. John Kennedy called himself the man who accompanies Jacqueline Kennedy. In 1955, when Kennedy was recovering from another operation, he wrote Tales of Courage. These are biographies of people whom he considered a model of courage in politics. In 1957, he received the Pulitzer Prize for this book, the highest award in the field of journalism. At 1958 AD Kennedy published The Nation of Immigrants. In 1961, under the title “Why England Slept”, his thesis was published. Death, declassification of archives November 22, 1963 during a trip to Dallas (Texas) John F. Kennedy was mortally wounded. He was buried at Arlington National Cemetery (in the suburbs of Washington). According to the conclusions of a special commission headed by Chief Justice Earl Warren, the President was killed by lone criminal Lee Harvey Oswald. Two days after the assassination attempt, he was shot dead at a police station by Dallas resident Jack Ruby. There are a number of conspiracy theories that present alternative versions of the assassination, including a conspiracy by American or Soviet intelligence agencies, but none of them has been proven. In 1992, the US Congress decided to “progressively release” all data related to the Kennedy assassination, unless it “would be harmful to the country’s defense, intelligence, law enforcement, or foreign policy.” US agencies are gradually checking these documents for secrecy and sensitive information. Over 30 years, the national archives have published over 250,000 documents. The publication of the next part is expected on December 15, 2022

John F.
Kennedy – latest news
The 35th President of the United States John F. Kennedy was born on May 29, 1917 in Brookline, Massachusetts to a wealthy Catholic family. His father, Joseph Kennedy, was a well-connected businessman, and his mother, Rose Kennedy, was a philanthropist. The maternal grandfather of the future president, John Fitzgerald, was a prominent politician who served three times as mayor of Boston.
After graduating from private school, John F. Kennedy studied at the London School of Economics and Political Science, then at Princeton University, and eventually graduated from Harvard, where he majored in history and political science. At 19On the 41st, he joined the US Army and served in the Pacific Fleet during World War II. For his courage he was presented with several awards.
After the end of the war, Kennedy began his political career. In 1946, he was elected to the US Congress from Massachusetts, and in 1952 – to the Senate. In 1960, he ran for the Democratic presidential election and defeated Republican candidate Richard Nixon. Kennedy took office as head of state at the beginning of 1961 years old. During his presidency, the Berlin and Caribbean crises fell, the beginning of the space race between the USSR and the USA. His name is also associated with the active promotion of state policy to combat racial discrimination.
John F. Kennedy’s wife, Jacqueline (nee Bouvier), was one of the most popular women of her time in the United States and was considered a style icon. The couple had four children, but two of them died shortly after they were born. Daughter Caroline and son John survived.
On November 22, 1963, John F. Kennedy was assassinated in Dallas, Texas. He and his wife were driving in an open limousine through the city center when the shots occurred. The President was seriously wounded and soon died in the hospital.
During the investigation, it was established that the shooting was carried out from the sixth floor of the school book depository building, which was located along the path of the limousine. The prime suspect in the murder was former Marine Lee Harvey Oswald. He was detained, but denied involvement in the crime. Two days later, while the suspect was being transported from the police station to the prison, a man stepped out of the crowd and shot at Oswald. Journalists filmed everything that happened, the murder of Oswald was shown live. The shooter turned out to be the owner of a nightclub, Jack Ruby, who had connections in criminal circles. Explaining his actions, he said that he “lost his head” because of the news about the assassination of the president.
The death of the main suspect in the Kennedy assassination gave rise to many rumors and conjectures that have grown into one of the most famous modern conspiracy theories. According to the official version, Oswald was the only culprit of the crime, the commission of inquiry concluded that he acted alone. At the same time, there are many alternative theories according to which Soviet communists, American intelligence services or mafia groups are behind the Kennedy assassination. There is no hard evidence in favor of any of them, but many Americans (according to polls) do not believe in the official version of Kennedy’s death.

Frequently Asked Questions
How do I refer my preschool student for an evaluation?
Babies Can’t Wait (BCW) is the state agency responsible for providing early intervention services for children birth through age three. It is the responsibility of both BCW and the school system to ensure a smooth transition from the BCW program to the school system. School districts are required to evaluate and have an Individual Education Program (IEP) in place by the child’s third birthday.
Parents may call the Special Needs Preschool office at (770) 426-3331 to refer their child for an evaluation. A referral packet will be sent to the parent to complete. Once returned, a member of the evaluation team will call to schedule the evaluation.

Early Childhood Special Education Identification and Services
Cobb County School District’s Special Needs Preschool (SNP) program provides specialized instruction and related services to all children ages 3 through 5, who qualify under the Individuals with Disabilities Act (IDEA, Part B, Section 619). The SNP program ensures the provision of a Free and Appropriate Public Education in the Least Restrictive Environment to all children who are found eligible. Services are based on an Individualized Education Program (IEP) which is developed in collaboration with SNP staff members and the parents of each child eligible for early childhood special education services. The SNP program provides a continuum of special education instructional services to eligible children. Speech-language therapy, occupational therapy and physical therapy may also be available to eligible preschoolers as recommended in the IEP.
Referral and Evaluation
The SNP program provides referred preschoolers with comprehensive evaluations in the areas of communication, cognitive, social-emotional, motor and adaptive skills. These evaluations are provided by a team of professionals which may include psychologists, educational diagnosticians and therapists. Children may be referred for an evaluation by parents, physicians and community agencies.
Early Childhood Special Education Services
Preschoolers who qualify for special education services may be served through the community based, facility-based or home-based models or unique combinations of the three models.
The community-based option provides specialized instructional activities to children in community preschool and daycare settings, dependent on the child’s specific needs, as outlined by the IEP team. Services generally consist of direct teaching from a Special Education teacher through a combination of individual and group activities, as well as consultation with community professionals. Cobb County School District (CCSD) SNP teachers collaborate with parents, caregivers, and community professionals to incorporate skill-building strategies into the child’s daily activities.
Facility-based services provide instruction in classroom settings located in many elementary schools within the CCSD. The curriculum is language rich and emphasizes skill development in the areas of communication and early literacy, social development, self-help, cognition and other skills as designated in each student’s IEP. Facility-based services are provided by a Special Education teacher with paraprofessional support. Integrated therapy services are provided.
Home-based services may be deemed appropriate when the fragility of a child’s health would prohibit the child’s participation in another service delivery option or when home-based services are the recommended service delivery for the child.

Divine Comedy: Paradise song 27
di Dante Alighieri
PARADISO – Canto XXVII
PARADISE – Song XXVII
3
`Al Padre, al Figlio, a lo Spirito Santo’,
cominciò, `gloria!’, tutto ‘l paradiso,
sì che m’inebrïava il dolce canto.
3
“To the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit” – Everywhere – “Glory!” – resounded in Paradise, And that melody was a rapture of hearing.
6
Ciò ch’io vedeva mi sembiava un riso
de l’universo; per che mia ebbrezza
intrava per l’udire e per lo viso.
6
Looking, I seemed to be drinking with a glance The smile of the universe, so that the visible And sonorous hops poured into my chest.
9
Oh gioia! oh ineffabile allegrezza!
oh vita integra d’amore e di pace!
oh sanza brama sicura ricchezza!
9
Oh joy! Oh, unspeakable delight! Oh life, where everything is love and everything is peace! O faithful treasure, kept without greed!
12
dinanzi a li occhi miei le quattro face
stavano accese, e quella che pria venne
incominciò a farsi più vivace,
12
Four lights in front of me Blazed, and, moment by moment, He who appeared first lit his flame;
15
e tal ne la sembianza sua divenne,
qual diverrebbe Iove, s’elli e Marte
fossero augelli e cambiassersi penne.
15
And it became what Jupiter would have been before our eyesight if Mars and he, Having become birds, were replaced by plumage.
18
Laenza proved, che quivi comparte
vice e officio, nel beatato coro
silenzio posto avea da ogne parte,
18
The power that is distributed there Order and rank, the blessed lights Ordered to be silent, and their ringing faded,
21
quand’ ïo udi’: “Se iomi trascoloro,
non ti maravigliar, che, dicend’ io,
vedrai trascolorar tutti costoro.
21
When I heard: “That I change color, Do not be surprised; listening to my verb, Everyone will change color in this cathedral.
24
Quelli ch’usurpa in terra il luogo mio,
il luogo mio, il luogo mio, che vaca
ne la presenza del Figliuol di Dio,
24
He who, like a thief, sat on my throne, On my throne, on my throne, which is empty before the Son of God, raised
27
fatt ha del cimitero mio cloaca
del sangue e de la puzza; onde ‘l perverso
che cadde di qua sù, là giù si placa.
27
In my cemetery there are solid mountains Bloody mud; overthrown from the heights, Admiring this, comforts the eyes.
30
Di quel color che per lo sole avverso
nube dipigne da sera e da mane,
vid’ ïo allora tutto ‘l ciel cosperso.
30
The color with which the sunrise Or the hour of sunset encompasses the clouds, Suddenly embraced the entire sky.
33
E come donna onesta che permane
di se sicura, e per l’altrui fallanza,
pur ascoltando, timida si fane,
33
And like a woman whose honor does not sleep And the heart is firm, feels fright, When he hears about someone’s misdeed,
36
così Beatrice trasmutò sembianza;
e tale eclissi credo che ‘n ciel fue
quando patì la supprema possanza.
36
So Beatrice suddenly changed; I think that the sky is so darkened, When the Almighty drooped in the midst of torment.
39
Poi procedetter le parole sue
con voce tanto da se trasmutata,
che la sembianza non si mutò piùe:
39
Meanwhile, his speech strove farther and farther, And the change in voice was No less than in appearance.
42
“Non fu la sposa di Cristo allevata
del sangue mio, di Lin, di quel di Cleto,
per essere ad acquisto d’oro usata;
42
“The bride of God did not then grow up With my blood, the blood of Lin, Clet, So that gold would be acquired without number;
45
ma per acquisto d’esto viver lieto
e Sisto e Pïo e Calisto e Urbano
sparser lo sangue dopo molto fleto.
45
And only in order to acquire this bliss, Sixtus, Pius, Calixtus and the righteous Urban, Stenya, shed their blood in bygone years.
48
Non fu nostra intention ch’a destra mano
d’i nostri successor parte sedesse,
parte da l’altra del popol cristiano;
48
We did not want the Christians Our successor with a biased hand Divided into the right and the left camp;
51
ne che le chiavi che mi fuor concesse,
divenisser signaculo in vessillo
che contra battezzati combattesse;
51
Not that the keys I received, Could become a coat of arms on a military banner, Which is raised to battle on the baptized;
54
ne ch’io fossi figura di sigillo
a privilegi venduti e mendaci,
ond’io sovente arrosso e disfavillo.
54
Not for my image to seal the seal For preferential letters, purchased and deceitful, Bondage blush and burn me!
57
In vesta di pastor lupi rapaci
si veggion di qua su per tutti i paschi:
o difesa di Dio, perche pur giaci?
57
In the clothes of shepherds – stinging wolves In all the meadows we see among the lambs. O God’s judgment, rise up against the wicked!
60
Del sangue nostro Caorsini e Guaschi
s’apparecchian di bere: o buon principio,
a che vil fine convien che tu caschi!
60
The Gascons and the Cahorsians want to drink our blood; oh good start, In what final debauchery have you fallen!
63
Ma l’alta provedenza, che con Scipio
difese a Roma la gloria del mondo,
soccorrà tosto, sì com’ io concipio;
63
But the fishery, whose help Rome saved In the great Scipio struggle, Will save, I know – and the time has come.
66
e tu, figliuol, che per lo mortal pondo
ancor giù tornerai, apri la bocca,
e non asconder quel ch’io non ascondo.
66
And you, my son, descending to earthly destiny Under the weight of death, with bold lips Tell me what I told you!”
69
Sì come di vaporati fiocca
in giuso l’aere nostro, quando ‘l corno
de la capra del ciel col sol si tocca,
69
Like efficient air with frozen vapors It snows to the ground, as soon as Capricorn Touches the horns of the luminary of the day,
72
in sù vid’io così l’etera addorno
farsi e fioccar di vapor trïunfanti
che fatto avien con noi quivi soggiorno.
72
So here the ether has clothed itself in beauty, Victorious vzvjavshie fumes, Hesitating with us for a long time.
75
Lo viso mio seguiva i suoi sembianti,
e seguì fin che ‘l mezzo, per lo molto,
li tolse il trapassar del più avanti.
75
My gaze followed their movements higher and higher, Until the environment of excessive height He did not block his ascent.
78
Onde la donna, che mi vide assolto
de l’attendere in sù, mi disse: “Adima
il viso e guarda come tu se’ vòlto.”
78
And the lady, when I looked away from that meta , said: “Lowering Eyes, look where you rushed!”
81
Da l’ora ch’io avea guardato prima
i’ vidi mosso me per tutto l’arco
che fa dal mezzo al fine il primo clima;
81
And I saw that since when I Looked down, above the first page I have moved from the middle to the edge.
84
sì ch’io vedea di là da Gade il varco
folle d’Ulisse, e di qua presso il lito
nel qual si fece Europa dolce carco.
84
I saw there, behind Hades, the crazy Ulysses way; here is the shore on which Europe has become a burden on the road.
87
E più mi fora discoverto il sito
di questa aiuola; ma’l sol procedea
sotto i mie’ piedi un segno e più partito.
87
I would take a wider look at that piece,0011 But the sun in the abyss forestalled us A whole sign and more, on the run soon.
90
La mente innamorata, che donnea
con la mia donna sempre, di ridure
ad essa li occhi più che mai ardea;
90
The spirit in love, which every hour ardently strove for its goddess, Waited for the gaze of lovely eyes as never before;
93
e se natura o arte fé pasture
da pigliare occhi, per aver la mente,
in carne umana o ne le sue pitture,
93
Everything that nature or brush has hitherto Captivated the eye to catch hearts, Or in a mortal body, or in a picture,
96
tutte adunate, parrebber nïente
ver’ lo piacer divin che mi refulse,
quando mi volsi al suo viso ridente.
96
It would seem insignificant until the end Before the wondrous joy that flashed to me, As soon as I saw the light of her face;
99
E la virtù che lo sguardo m’indulse,
del bel nido di Leda mi divelse,
e nel ciel velocissimo m’impulse.
99
And the power that smelled in my eyes, Rushing me from the Ledina’s nest, threw me into the fastest of all skies.
102
Le parti sue vivissime ed eccelse
sì uniforme son, ch’i’ non so dire
qual Bëatrice per locomi scelse.
102
So homogeneous is his whole environment, That I did not know where I ended up, My counselor was raised there.
105
Ma ella, che vedëa ‘l mio disire,
incominciò, ridendo tanto lieta,
che Dio parea nel suo volto gioire:
105
And to me, so that I don’t get lost in conjectures, The lady said so joyfully, As if God was laughing in her face:
108
“La natura del mondo, che quïeta
il mezzo e tutto l’altro intorno move,
quinci comincia come da sua meta;
108
“The nature of the world, everything that exists, circling Around the core, which has rested, Goes from here, as from a border.
111
e questo cielo non ha altro dove
che la mente divina, in che s’accende
l’amor che ‘l volge e la virtù ch’ei piove.
111
And God’s thought contained the sky, Where is love, whose power attracts it, Takes its ardor, and the power hidden in it.
114
Luce e amor d’un cerchio lui comprende,
sì come questo li altri; e quel precinto
colui che ‘l cinge solamente intende.
114
Light and love embrace this vault, Like every lower circle, embraced by it; And their creator watches over those heights.
117
Non e suo moto per altro distinto,
ma li altri son mensurati da questo,
sì come diece da mezzo e da quinto;
117
Movement here is not measured by the measure taken, But all movements are measured in it, Like ten – in half or in the fifth.
120
e come il tempo tegna in cotal testo
le sue radici e ne li altri le fronde,
omai a te può esser manifesto.
120
Like time, in this immersed vessel Roots, lives in the rest of the peak, Now it is no longer difficult for you to understand.
123
Oh cupidigia che i mortali affonde
sì sotto te, che nessuno ha podere
di trarre li occhi fuor de le tue onde!
123
Oh greed! Not a single one is capable of Of those whom you hold, having absorbed, Raise the apples above your abyss!
126
Ben fiorisce ne li uomini il volere;
ma la pioggia continua converte
in bozzacchioni le sosine vere.
126
The flower of goodwill in the mortal heart is alive; But the incessant streams of showers Will give birth to freaks from good plums.
129
Fede e innocenza son reperte
solo ne’ parvoletti; poi ciascuna
pria fugge che le guance sian coperte.
129
Some babies listen to the lessons of Goodness and Faith in order to completely forget Their meaning is sooner than the cheeks are pubescent.
132
Tale, balbuzendo ancor, digiuna,
che poi divora, con la lingua sciolta,
qualunque cibo per qualunque luna;
132
Who, babbling, remembered the Lenten day, Eats with a tongue that has grown in strength, Any food under any moon.
135
e tal, balbuzïendo, ama e ascolta
la madre sua, che, con loquela intera,
disïa poi di vederla sepolta.
135
One of those who, babbling, loved And honored their mother, – owning speech, glad to see Her quickly in the grave.
138
Così si fa la pelle bianca nera
nel primo aspetto de la bella figlia
di quel ch’apporta mane e lascia sera.
138
And so they blacken white skin, Heeding the seductions of the beautiful daughter Who gives morning and sunset.

One of South Dakota’s most unique art installations, Art Alley is located between 6th and 7th streets in downtown Rapid City. Literally a working alley with dumpsters, deliveries, and utilities, Art Alley is also a public gallery that is often painted with murals, messages, and colorful spray paint. Anyone can add their own marker to a lane, although they need to obtain a readily available permit from the city to do so. A truly ever-evolving work of art, the alley offers something new every time you visit.

11. America’s Founding Fathers Exhibition
a dimensional version of John Trumbull’s famous painting Declaration of Independence , recounts a historic moment with an accompanying light and sound show. With realistic renderings of the 56 patriots signing the Declaration of Independence and an interesting narration played at the top, it’s hard not to feel captivated by the scene. In addition to the exhibit, visitors can ring a replica Liberty Bell and fire an authentic Revolution-era Kentucky long rifle.

The Waterslide Park was an excellent attraction, but was getting older. The property was sold last summer and they have got it almost torn down. There are several indoor waterparks in Rapid City, one is open now and the other is being built. Both are on the north side of town near Interstate 90.

Waterslides of today have replaced the old ‘SlipNSlide’ of yesteryear ! And so another newbie will enter the scenery of Rapid City for a “rip roarin’ ” in good old fashioned fun style time . . . later than sooner. I was informed it was due to open 6 mos. ago but all comes to an end eventually, even slow construction.
It will be located off the I-90 at the Lacrosse Ave exit.
See you there. . . & don’t forget to cross your legs or you’ll get a wedgie !

July 2014 • Family vacation
We came here again July 2014, our last visit was in 2005. We were so surprised to find that Rushmore Waterslide Park is now CLOSED. The gates were shut & locked. We were told the Waterslide Park closed because their expenses exceeded their revenue. Too bad it’s closed. Lots of tourists & locals visited this park.

Pricy. .. but great fun
June 2013
If your child is 10+ years of age… it can get pricy. Don’t judge by how it looks on the highway… they have more slides than you think along with a large hot tub. My advice: Bring an umbrella or wear a hat… it is very sunny when just sitting there. Also, always use the mats… the ride goes faster an smoother, avoid the bonsai slide if you have back/neck problems. Lastly, go on the slide with the intertubes, we thought it was extra $, but its not and was my fav slide!!!!

Well worth it to take the kids here since the price was so affordable and it was well worth it. We spent about 5 hours here and had a ton of fun. The park was not overly crowded, lines for the slides weren’t long at all. There’s not very much shade but it didn’t bother us as we spent the entire time in the water. Would have stayed longer but it started to hail. It’s conveniently located and I would definitely return!

Realistic expectations = a good time….
July 2013 • Family fun
Just driving by, you can tell this is no major waterpark with the latest and greatest ride s.
It is good for an afternoon of sliding, especially if you have kids. The park is dated, but still very functional. $15 for an adult pass is pretty reasonable if you ask me. 3 and under are free, older somewhere in the middle. The bonus is you can bring your own food and drinks! Instead of paying $40+ for admission to a large park and $2 a bottle of water, this provides a relaxing, very affordable day of fun. The 4 middle slides are fun, bonzai slides are a blast, couple kids slides are fun, the lone tube ride is mediocre…. plus if you have a little one, you have to rent a $7 double tube ($3 back when you return it) but I guess that just equates to a $4 admission for little kids. The giant hot tub is pretty cool too!
I was very hesitant after reading some of the reviews on here but went anyway. glad we did.
Careful on the bonzai slide… we had to stop by the ER on the way home after an adult in our party bonked his head going down. No fault of the park/slide, they are very fun… accidents happen.

Beautiful setting. The ponds and pressure make it very relaxing and there is a great wildlife. Watch out for ducks and swans on the lake. Eagles are fairly common.
Gorgeous place to walk during fall foliage season. I walked through the area with our two dogs. We had a great afternoon enjoying the park and the scenery.

Peaceful and beautiful
July 2020
We decided to check out the park and were glad we did. The lake was very beautiful and larger than we thought. There is a trail to walk along the lake and bike trails. There are many benches you can sit on that people have purchased in honor/memory of loved ones. There is a small beautiful flower garden. You can I assume rent a paddle boat to go across the lake (we did not do it). There is a nice Gazebo you can rent, you are able to walk out to the Gazebo that is on a small island in the middle of the lake. There is a pavilion that has tables and a fire place and grill you can rent out as well. The grounds around the lake were full of green grass and trees. There is also a playground area for kids. Check it out if you are in town!

I go often to simply watch the ducks and geese. It is peaceful and refreshing. I like it so much I decided to rent a place nearby so I can enjoy the wildlife and the walking/hiking trails.

Such a world-famous name as Hollywood (Hollywood), can easily be misleading.

It has a developed social infrastructure, which makes it comfortable for living and recreation.

Centreville is a modern, ethnically diverse and densely populated city in Fairfax County, Virginia. It’s about 20 miles West of Washington, DC and is home to more than 73,000 residents. The average cost of a daycare center is $280 per week for infants ($14,560 per year) and $260 per week for 4-year-olds ($13,520 annually). For families needing more affordable options in Centreville, tuition rates in family child care homes are 20-30% lower with an average of $220 per week for infants and $180 per week for 4-year-olds. While those costs are lower than in Washington DC, these are high costs by national standards. That’s not surprising given the median household income of $106,000. Most Centreville residents work in Professional, Scientific, Technical Services, and Healthcare. To find the average cost of daycare based on the age of your child in your zip code, click here to use our daycare cost calculator.
Centreville is in the western part of Fairfax County, bounded to the North by Chantilly, Fairfax City to the East and Prince William County to the West and South. Three major roads and several Fairfax Connector bus routes connecting to the Metrorail system serve the community. Many working families commute for work to Washington, DC. The young children’s population is served by a total of 107 regulated child care facilities (VA state-licensed or Fairfax county-permitted).
Child Care providers regularly caring for non-resident children in exchange for compensation are mandated by law to operate with a valid child care license or permit. The Fairfax County Office for Children (OFC) is responsible for regulating child care homes with up to 4 non-resident children. On the other hand, the Commonwealth of Virginia, through the Office of the Virginia Department of Social Services, issues state licenses to providers caring for more 5 or more children. In Centreville, there are 66 home-based daycares with a county permit, 23 state-licensed child care homes, and 18 state-licensed child day centers. Home daycares and preschools can be a top choice for parents because they’re more affordable than centers. They also offer a home-like setting and more flexible schedules for working families.
Families understand that the quality of early education plays an essential role in the development of their child. Although any facility can be high quality, choosing a licensed or permitted child care facility helps ensure children are in a safe and secure environment. These facilities are monitored and inspected to comply with legal requirements in terms of caregiver education, training, and professional development. Staff also undergo thorough background checks, including all people 14 years old and above with regular access to the facility.
Child care facilities in Centreville, VA, offer a wide range of services. Ten facilities provide before and after school care, and 9 are religious daycares. For children who have an allergic reaction to peanuts and food containing nuts, there are 9 peanut-free or tree nut-free daycares. Since 40% of the population in Centreville speaks Spanish or an Asian language, there’s strong demand for foreign language and culture education. The 14 bilingual child care facilities teach children not just a second language but also help them learn about other cultures and traditions. In preschool, foreign languages can be learned through music, arts, stories, and other engaging activities that are age-appropriate for children.
Families with low income can pay tuition fees in part or in full through the Child Care Assistance program. Families who qualify for the program can be beneficiaries of the “Temporary Assistance for Needy Families” (TANF) and participate in the “Virginia Initiative for Employment Not Welfare” (VIEW) program. Nineteen licensed early care and education programs accept government subsidy vouchers.

Chronicles of children’s hell: a scandal breaks out in one of the preschool institutions of the Moscow region
Society

Fans of the famous Marquis de Sade showed up in a kindergarten in Krasnogorsk. The educators of this children’s institution applied strict measures of education to the kids. Now they will have to explain themselves to the employees of the Investigative Committee.
PHOTO: Gennady Cherkasov
children are often naughty and do not want to go to kindergarten, so when little Mila (name changed) told her mother that the teacher was strangling her, she didn’t believe it right away, but she saw in the parent chat that other children also tell all sorts of horrors about their teachers. According to them, they were often punished for some trifles, scolded and even beaten.
Then Svetlana Stenkina decided to use a trick and put a voice recorder inside her daughter’s favorite toy. After listening to the recording at home, the poor woman’s blood literally boiled in her veins from indignation and resentment.
Kindergarten No. 17 is located in Bolshoy Putilkovo, a new district of Krasnogorsk. In fact, this is a whole children’s town – the institution has as many as 5 buildings, the last one was put into operation quite recently. And many parents dream of sending their kids there, although this is not easy – there is a queue in the kindergarten. Firstly, there are special groups for children with speech delays and mental development, and secondly, according to the website of the preschool institution, the employees work on innovative educational programs. Of course, the fact that they are so innovative, mothers could not even imagine in a nightmare.
Tatyana Loginovskaya’s son categorically refused to go to the group, so the mother decided to watch through the glass what was going on there. What he saw explained a lot in the behavior of the child: the nanny, when the baby came up to ask something, rudely pushed him away. The horror on the face of the child and the speed with which he recoiled from the adult aunt who swung at him convinced the mother that this was not the first time this had happened.
Both children, Tatyana’s son and Svetlana’s daughter, went to the same speech therapy group.
“When I listened to the dictaphone recording, I was simply in shock,” Svetlana Stenkina later told TV reporters. “The workers cover the children with a three-story mat.”
“Eat a tattered goat”, “I’ll tear off your legs now”, “I’ll beat you” – this is not a complete dictionary of vocabulary, which the mother managed to record with the help of a hidden voice recorder.
As soon as the dictaphone record was shown to the head of the kindergarten, she immediately fired the “lit up” nanny. But, according to the kids, other employees of the kindergarten behaved no better. Therefore, the scandal could not be hushed up.
The Main Investigation Department of the Russian Investigative Committee for the Moscow Region opened criminal cases under Art. 156 and 293 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (failure to fulfill the obligations of raising a minor, negligence). And the head of the department took this case under personal control: acting. Head of the Main Investigative Directorate of the Investigative Committee of Russia for the Moscow Region Ya.A. Yakovlev will have to report to him on the progress of the investigation.
Unfortunately, the case of rudeness and violence against children in a preschool institution in Krasnogorsk is far from the only one. Many parents in the comments to this story on social networks wrote that their children were in similar situations. This is especially true for the smallest, who, due to their age and speech problems, cannot even complain to their parents.
“The caretaker took my child out into the corridor because he was not sleeping and left him standing there all the time during quiet hours until the other children wake up,” writes one of the mothers.
“I, too, like going to the garden, so my son is hysterical. I used to think that I was just acting up, but now I thought, what if he also gets it there? another worries.
And one of the parents admitted that everything described in the kindergarten in Krasnogorsk very much reminds her of her own childhood: “So many years have passed, and nothing has changed in our kindergartens. Why do these people go to work with children if they hate them so much?” she asks a reasonable question.0005
According to child psychologist Maria Sivakova, only total video monitoring of their work can protect children from violence by kindergarten teachers.
“There should be cameras in all areas and employees should be aware of this. And those who are caught on the fact that they treat their pupils rudely should be fired not of their own free will, but as completely unsuitable for working with children. Some teachers like to justify their aggression by saying that the children took them out, that they behave terribly, and so on. But in their labor contract it is written that the teacher is obliged to find an individual approach to each child, including difficult, “uncontrollable”. And if you don’t know how or you don’t have enough patience and endurance, then you need to change your profession. I had to deal with children who were bullied by kindergarten teachers. Many of them then began to stutter, they developed enuresis and other problems, and it is very difficult for a psychologist to work with them, because they do not trust adults.”

The sanatorium has a tennis court, a gym, a swimming pool with an aqua park and a beach with access to the Pesochna River.
“A picturesque well-groomed territory, there is a beautiful pond with a fountain and swimming fish,” one of the clients, Elena Zvereva, describes Sunny Town. — The bridge connects the coast. There is a modern outdoor pool with a slide and heated, next to a cozy beach with sunbeds. Large sports complex and stadium.
Kindergarten for the heirs of bankers works on a five-day system: parents leave their children there overnight and pick them up only on weekends.
According to SHOT, the drone can be controlled. At first, he lay in place for about 20 minutes, making beeping sounds, and then took off and fell behind the “Sun City” in the forest.
Previously, a drone attacked the urban-type settlement of Razdolnoe in the north-west of Crimea: as a result, a girl died and four buildings were damaged.

Beginner’s Guide to Social Domain Theory – Clare Conry-Murray, Ph.D.
Morality has to do with how people should interact with each other. Moral development research aims to understand how people develop from infancy into adulthood in the way they think about and interact with others. Since morality involves issues of right and wrong, it is proscriptive or prohibitive–that is, morality is about the ways we should or should not act. But not all issues of right and wrong are moral. For example, a mistake in long division may be wrong but it is not usually seen as immoral. So we also add that moral development research examines issues of right and wrong in social settings, where actions affect other people.
What is morality to most people?
Social domain theory uses a definition of morality that comes from philosophy, but we also find that most people use the same definition. The basis of morality is in trying not to harm other people. Harm includes many facets–including issues of welfare, justice and rights. Social Domain Theory research finds that people consider things to be moral that have to do with avoiding harm to people (welfare), being fair (justice), and respecting each other’s rights (rights). The core of morality is avoiding harm, but that also means trying not to treat people unfairly and respecting their rights (Turiel, 1983).
A basic respect for other people means that, most of the time, we all try not to hurt each other. We can safely walk down the street without anyone purposefully trying to crash their car into us, even if it would get them where they’re going faster. This is because people also usually do not like to cause others pain. People are also generally willing to be helpful (especially when it is not difficult). For example, when a man at a subway station in London fell into the gap between the platform and the train, people didn’t expect the conductor to just let his leg get ripped off. Instead they all worked together to push the train a few inches away from the platform so he could get out.
Not causing serious harm to others as they go about their day may seem like a very small thing to ask of others. We start to understand morality by looking at the obvious cases where there is a lot of agreement, like “don’t run people over” because it is actually notable that people generally try not to harm others.
In addition, people usually only see actions as moral if they are intentional. Harming someone accidentally (and without negligence) is not usually seen as immoral.
Are there social rules about right and wrong that are not moral?
Yes. Not all social rules relate to the concepts of rights, justice and welfare. Some social rules like “don’t use swear words” or “only girls wear dresses” were not made to avoid hurting people or out of a concern with fairness or rights. These examples are not even rules in some places. For example, not only girls wear dresses– think of a Catholic priest who wears a long gown called vestments during mass or a man graduating from college who wears a cap and gown. The rule about “dresses” doesn’t apply to those situations, but it does apply to other situations. Rules like these that vary depending on the setting are called conventions. Sometimes they have a purpose (e.g. to make boys and girls look distinct) and sometimes they’re just something we do out of habit or convenience (e.g. eat pasta with a fork but pizza with your hands). Sometimes the purpose of a conventional rule is important (e.g. we all drive on the right in the United States so there’s not chaos), but conventions can be changed. For example, some countries drive on the right and some on the left. Either way is fine as long as everybody follows the rule.
If you don’t follow conventional rules, there can still be consequences, but they depend on the situation. People might look at you funny if you dress unconventionally or you could even get in trouble and be punished for using swear words in some settings. My son who liked to watch Minecraft videos when he was young learned the phrase “what the f*ck,” without knowing that the f-word is a bad word. When he said it on the playground at school, he got in trouble, even though behind his back, all the adults thought it was pretty funny. The adults weren’t worried about him hurting anyone by talking that way, but they still made sure he didn’t use that phrase again because it’s against the rules. So there are consequences to conventional rule violations, but they depend on the setting– they are not intrinsic to the action they way harm is. For example, I’m guessing my son (who is now 15) uses the f-word around his friends sometimes, and I’m pretty sure there are no negative consequences from his friends for that language. When there are consequences to conventional rule violations, they change with the context (conventions at school differ from conventions with friends).
Are moral rules and conventional rules different?
Yes. The consequences are different for moral and conventional rule violations. All of the consequences to conventional violations are constructed by people, and so the people can change the consequences. The teacher who told my son not to swear enforced the rule about no swearing at school, but some families may let their kids swear. The rules about when men can wear a dress already do differ in different situations.
But if you run over someone with your car on purpose, most people would say it was wrong regardless of the law in that place. In fact most people would say even if the law allowed it, it would still be wrong to run someone over for no good reason. That’s because the consequence to that person is so harmful. And that harm occurs every time someone is run over. We call that kind of consequence intrinsic to the act. It happens every time. It is part of the definition of the action. Moral violations all have intrinsic consequences related to harm or unfairness or a violation of basic human rights.
You can think of examples of other basic moral violations– pushing someone off a swing, paying one person for their work but not paying another person for the same work. These are intrinsically harmful or unfair.
In Social Domain Theory research, we used what we call Criterion Judgments to see if people distinguish moral from conventional issues in different realms.
What are Criterion Judgments?
Criterion judgments are based on criteria that are used to judge social rule violations. If people notice that moral but not conventional rules are based on intrinsic consequences, then they will think about moral rules differently. The criteria tell us where we expect to see differences between moral and conventional reasoning. If consequences are intrinsic to the act of harming others, then they would not depend on the situation or anything local about the situation. People judge moral violations differently than conventional rule violations in several ways, including:
Justifications–People use different justifications when they explain their judgments about different types of rules: Moral justifications refer to welfare, justice or rights, while conventional justifications refer to tradition or authorities.
Rule Contingency— People judge changes to rules differently depending on the domain: Moral rules always have consequences to welfare, justice or rights because the consequences are intrinsic and so changing the rules does not change the consequences. Therefore, moral rules tend to be judged wrong even when the rule is changed. Conventional rules depend on the context, and if the rule is changed, there may not be a consequence anymore, so conventional violations may not be wrong in the absence of a rule. We call this Rule Contingency.
Example: Moral: If you ask kids whether they can hit others when the teacher says hitting is OK in their classroom, kids still say hitting is not OK. Evaluations of hitting do not depend on the rule.
Conventional: When you ask if they can wear PJs to school when the teacher says it is OK in their classroom, kids say wearing PJ is now OK. Evaluations of appropriate clothing do depend on the rule.
Generalizability–People will judge rules differently depending on changes to the setting. Moral rules still have the same consequences no matter where the violation occurs. Therefore moral rules are considered generalizable. Conventional rules can have different consequences in different settings–they are not generalizable.
Example: Moral: If you ask kids whether they can shove others in another country where everyone shoves people, kids still say shoving others is not OK. Evaluations of shaving do not depend on the context.
Conventional: When you ask if eating with your hands is OK in a country where that’s how they do it, kids say wearing eating with your hands is now OK. Evaluations of how to eat depend on the context.
What is similar about moral and conventional rules?
Both moral and conventional rules affect social relationships and they tell people how to behave.
People who break both moral and conventional rules can be punished.
Both moral and conventional violations can both be more or less serious. Moral violations tend to be more serious but not always. For example, in some places, gender norms are strictly enforced and so would be seen as a serious violation.
What about things not covered by moral and conventional rules?
Issues that are not covered by either moral or conventional rules and are left to the person to decide for themselves are called Personal (Nucci, 2001). These are interesting because what is personal can differ in different cultures (Conry-Murray, Kim & Turiel, 2020), and even between teenagers and their parents. Parents tend to think issues like whether a 17 year old should get a tattoo is conventional, while the teenerager often thinks it should be a personal decision and they should be able to decide for themselves (Smetana & Rote, 2019).
Prudential issues have to do with harm to the self.
Why do people do immoral things if we all agree that harming others is unacceptable?
Social domain theory researchers have identified several ways that people come to different conclusions about social issues.
Multifaceted issues. Sometimes issues are complicated and include multiple different conflicting priorities–including different moral priorities that could be in conflict. For example, with gun control there are issues related to the rights of the gun owner, and perhaps the right to protect oneself, and the rights of those who could be hurt by the gun. People may see all of these as moral issues involving rights or welfare but some may prioritize the rights of the gun owner over the welfare of potential victims, while others could prioritize the reverse.
Other issues may include moral and conventional issues in conflict. For example, a parent may forbid a son from going to a sewing club (Perko, et al, 2020) because they are concerned about following gender norms (conventional), but the son may be thinking about his right to make his own choices (moral). Moral issues are not automatically judged to be the priority.
In addition, some issues may be seen as conventional to some and personal to others– like the parent-teenager conflict over tattoos described above.
Informational assumptions. Informational assumptions are understandings about the way the world works that impacts the issue (Wainryb, 1991). Sometimes facts (or beliefs about what is true) help people weigh the importance of different issues. For example, using the issue of gun control from above, if you believe that gun deaths are very, very uncommon, it might affect whether you are concerned about potential victims compared to if you believe gun deaths are more frequent.
Informational assumptions also impact whether you believe harm is involved at all. For example, if a parent spanks a child to teach them not to run into the street, and it effectively teaches the child an important lesson, most people would say the spanking was acceptable. But if spanking doesn’t work to teach the child a lesson, then it is just abuse, and it is usually judged to be not OK if that informational assumption is believed to be true.
Second order effects. Sometimes culture-specific rituals have meaning that can affect others. It can be a sign of disrespect to wear jeans and a t-shirt to a wedding, and that disrespect can cause people psychological harm. The harm is not intrinsic in the same way that being punched in the gut is, but it is still causing harm. The harm comes about because of the meaning of the convention.
Do researchers studying morality judge others’ virtue?
Social domain theory (and most morality researchers) do not suggest that one view of a controversial issue is better or worse than another. Instead we try to describe how people think about issues and behave in moral or social situations. We try to find patterns in people’s thinking and behavior that will help us describe common types of moral thinking and behavior, and perhaps even predict future thinking and behavior. But we do not tell people what the most moral thing to do is.

Social Determinants of Health – Healthy People 2030
What are social determinants of health?
Social determinants of health (SDOH) are the conditions in the environments where people are born, live, learn, work, play, worship, and age that affect a wide range of health, functioning, and quality-of-life outcomes and risks.
SDOH can be grouped into 5 domains:

Healthy People 2030, U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, Office of Disease Prevention and Health Promotion. Retrieved [date graphic was accessed], from https://health.gov/healthypeople/objectives-and-data/social-determinants-health
Social determinants of health (SDOH) have a major impact on people’s health, well-being, and quality of life. Examples of SDOH include:
Safe housing, transportation, and neighborhoods
Racism, discrimination, and violence
Education, job opportunities, and income
Access to nutritious foods and physical activity opportunities
Polluted air and water
Language and literacy skills
SDOH also contribute to wide health disparities and inequities. For example, people who don’t have access to grocery stores with healthy foods are less likely to have good nutrition. That raises their risk of health conditions like heart disease, diabetes, and obesity — and even lowers life expectancy relative to people who do have access to healthy foods.
Just promoting healthy choices won’t eliminate these and other health disparities. Instead, public health organizations and their partners in sectors like education, transportation, and housing need to take action to improve the conditions in people’s environments.
That’s why Healthy People 2030 has an increased and overarching focus on SDOH.
How Does Healthy People 2030 Address SDOH?
One of Healthy People 2030’s 5 overarching goals is specifically related to SDOH: “Create social, physical, and economic environments that promote attaining the full potential for health and well-being for all. ”
In line with this goal, Healthy People 2030 features many objectives related to SDOH. These objectives highlight the importance of “upstream” factors — usually unrelated to health care delivery — in improving health and reducing health disparities.
More than a dozen workgroups made up of subject matter experts with different backgrounds and areas of expertise developed these objectives. One of these groups, the Social Determinants of Health Workgroup, focuses solely on SDOH.

What is a domain and what is it for? — CoderSafe on vc.
A domain is a unique symbolic address of a site under which it is registered and hosted on the Internet.
The domain is required to store and display the site in the public domain for third-party users. To do this, you need to place the site through a hosting provider that connects server resources and further ensures the smooth operation of the pages and data protection within the site.
Domain name displays the name in a visual format. The fact is that each site already has its own name – in the form of an IP address (for example, 196.167.24.187). They are replaced for ease of use.
Domains are located in millions of databases united in a distributed system of domain names – DNS.
Domain levels
Levels are based on dot separation between titles. For example, let’s take the site rating from Rambler – https://top100.rambler.ru/. The hierarchy is respected as follows:
.ru – 1st level domain
rambler.ru – 2nd level domain
top100.rambler.ru – 3rd level domain
First of all, the territorial location or regionality is indicated. The values ”.com”, “biz.” can also be used. or “org” for commercial organizations that have a head office in one of the countries, but provide services in other countries, as well as for thematic sites (“shop” or “company”).
For Russian sites, the ability to create a Cyrillic domain “. rf” is available. It can be converted into a standard name using the Punycode converter. The site will look like, for example, xn-456y6y75t5my7, it complies with the DNS standard and can be decrypted, but the user will be able to enter the domain in Russian.
The second level indicates the name itself, with which the site will be associated. This is mainly the brand of the company, but there are cases when the type of activity is indicated in the domain.
The third level indicates additional sections or subsites. In most cases, these are subdomains. They may indicate:
territorial affiliation on a smaller scale (for example, “msk.”, “spb.” or “kazan.”)
additional section of services within one site, for example, “okna.dveri.ru”.
thematic pages related to third-party sections or events, for example, “2022.festival.ru”.
You can check information for each domain (for any site) using the Whois service. This tool will allow you to find out the history of creation and technical information about a domain name.
Domain name regulators
The main regulatory body is the international non-profit organization for the assignment of domain names – ICANN (Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers).
In Russia, all domains are regulated by ICANN’s Domain Coordination Center. From it comes the expansion of powers to third-party organizations. In particular, Domain Name Registrar Reg.Ru LLC has the right to register names in different domain zones.
Domain Requirements
When buying a domain, the site owner usually offers his site name, which must be verified by the hosting provider. Sites allow you to find out if a particular domain is owned by other people. The name must meet the following conditions:
Length – from 2 to 63 characters.
The beginning and end of the address – only through a letter or number.
Only Latin letters (or Cyrillic for the “.rf” zone), numbers and dashes (between other characters only) must be used.
For the “.rf” domain, the requirements are identical, but with an addition – the 63-character limit applies not to the name in Cyrillic, but to the translation in Punycode. This encoding converts character sequences in different languages, including those specific to individual countries.
Registration procedure
Registering a domain for a website is easy. It is enough to understand the requirements and pricing policy of the hosting provider. This will allow you to choose the right solution. Domain registration is not so much a purchase as it is a lease of space with a subsequent renewal. Before registering, study the offers for new users when ordering for the first time or when transferring a site from an old provider.
For example, consider the most popular aggregator in Russia – REG. RU. The procedure is divided into 2 stages – the selection and registration of a name.
Register or log in to the system
In the search bar, write the desired domain and click the “Select” button
In the results of the check, you will receive an answer whether the domain is available or not. If the name is already taken by other users, the system will prompt you to select other options from the recommendations.
After choosing, go to the order, if possible, enter the promo code, pay for the domain.
To register a domain name for yourself, you will need to confirm your passport details. Further, additional information is entered – information on registration through an individual or legal entity, TIN and KPP, name of the organization. To contact the owner, you must add a phone number, postal and email address.
After the procedure, you can select a tariff plan and additional services provided by the provider.
In order for the site to be seen by other users, it is necessary to purchase access to a remote server – hosting to store a large amount of information. You can choose virtual hosting to host several small sites or a virtual dedicated server for a large web resource.
Lookalike domains and protection against them
Our colleagues have already talked in sufficient detail about how cybercriminals attack companies through compromised email addresses of employees, as well as how to protect against such attacks using SPF, DKIM and DMARC technologies. But despite the obvious advantages of the described solutions, there is a method that can bypass them, and we want to talk about it.
But let’s start from afar: how relevant is email today? After all, this year we saw a sharp rise in the popularity of video conferencing software, and in the few years before that, the same growth in the popularity of instant messengers, in particular WhatsApp and Telegram. However, email is still the main means of communication on the Internet, at least in a business environment. Indirect confirmation of this is the increase in the number and quality of attacks aimed at compromising corporate mail (Business E-mail Compromise, BEC). According to the American Cybercrime Complaint Center (IC3), the financial damage from these incidents has increased sevenfold over the past five years.
Financial damage from BEC attacks, 2015–2019 (download)
The data for 2020 has not yet been processed, but given the COVID-19 pandemic and the mass transfer of employees to remote work, it can be safely assumed that the number of BEC attacks has only grown. The same is true of early studies of the threat landscape.
The use of similar domains in BEC
One of the features of BEC attacks is the emphasis not on the technical component (in the case of mail, the capabilities of cybercriminals are rather limited), but on social engineering. As a rule, technical and social methods are combined for greater efficiency.
The lion’s share of combinations of SPF, DKIM and DMARC technologies cope more or less effectively. But there is an exception – an attack using similar domains (lookalike domain). The essence of the method is simple: a cybercriminal registers a domain that looks very similar to the domain of the attacked company or its counterparty. Letters sent from it pass domain authentication without any problems (they deceive SPF), are provided with a cryptographic signature (they skip DKIM), and in general do not arouse suspicion from security systems. One problem: these are phishing emails. And if they are written plausibly enough, according to the corporate template, with an emphasis on the urgency of the issue, etc., then the victim will most likely not notice the catch.
Here are some examples of fake domain names:
Original domain
Fake domain
netflix. com
netffix.com
kaspersky.com
kapersky.com
uralairlines.ru
uralairilnes.ru
As you can see, the fake differs from the original in just one letter, which is added (or removed) in such a way that the substitution could not be detected at a cursory glance.
To get a general idea of the use of lookalike domains, we collected statistics on campaigns using lookalike fakes for the third quarter of 2020. After analyzing the data, we came to the conclusion that the pandemic has significantly changed the vector of thinking of attackers. If the financial sector was the main target before it, now the service sector has come to the fore, which includes various e-commerce services: grocery delivery, online shopping, buying air tickets, etc. In the third quarter, domains in this sector accounted for 34, 7% of the total number of campaigns.
Distribution of detected lookalike domains by category, Q3 2020 (download)
then in the third quarter – already 22. 2%. This is quite expected, since the massive transition to online should have affected the overall situation.
A little bit about the lookalike approach
Unlike spam mailings, mass and long-term, attacks using lookalike domains, like any BEC attack, are designed for a specific victim (or range of victims). Consequently, emails are few and well thought out, and domains have a very short lifespan. We see that half of the fake domains are used once, and in 73% of cases the address is active within one day.
This leads to the fact that classic anti-spam solutions based on the signature approach (they saw an attack – made a rule) do not cope, and there is a need for proactive protection methods. There are two common and at the same time simple methods that are often chosen by companies concerned with protection against lookalike attacks and the like.
The first one is self-registration of domains with typos and subsequent setting of a redirect to the official domain. This reduces the chances of cybercriminals to register a plausible forgery, but, firstly, it does not completely eliminate the threat, and secondly, it does not prevent the domains of partners, contractors and other organizations with which the company is in correspondence from being forged.
The second is the compilation of lists of plausible fake names for both the company domain and partner and counterparty domains. They are loaded into an anti-spam solution in order to preventively block all correspondence coming from fakes. The main disadvantage of this method is still the same: the inability to provide for all options for fake domains, especially if the company works with many organizations. Plus, the human factor: one typo in the list for tens and hundreds of domain names will lead to a security breach, and in the worst case, to blocking letters from a legitimate domain instead of a fake one and an additional headache for business units.
In general, when our customers were no longer satisfied with standard solutions, they came to us for complex, but more effective solutions. In this regard, we have developed a method that does not require user intervention. In short, it automatically compiles a global list of legitimate addresses that, in theory, can be faked, and on its basis analyzes and blocks emails from lookalike domains. In fact, it works ahead of the curve.
Principle of operation
The method of protection against lookalike attacks consists of three main elements: calculations on the client, domain reputation checks in KSN (Kaspersky Secutiy Network) and calculations on the infrastructure. These stages, in turn, are divided into subtasks – the general principle is shown in the diagram:
In practice, everything looks like this. When a letter is received, the sender’s domain gets into KSN, where it is compared with the list of lookalike domains already known to us. If the address is found, the letter is instantly blocked (steps 1 to 3). If nothing is known about the sender’s domain, then the message is quarantined for a short period (step 4). During this time, the technology checks the address according to a given algorithm, and if it is found to be fake, it adds it to the list of lookalike domains in KSN. After the message is released from quarantine, it is re-scanned (step 9) and is blocked because by this time the list of lookalike domains has already been updated.
Let’s consider how the sender check works and how the list of lookalike domains is replenished. Information about sending mail to quarantine enters the KSN database along with additional metadata, including the sender’s domain (step 5). At the first stage of analysis, domains are checked for a wide range of characteristics, such as WHOIS data, DNS records, certificates, etc. This stage is necessary in order to immediately weed out clearly legitimate hosts that are still unknown to our system. In the future, messages from such domains will not be re-quarantined, since information about them will already be contained in KSN.
At the second stage, the system checks the similarity of suspicious hosts and addresses from our global list of legitimate domains (step 7), which includes the domains of our clients and their counterparties.
