The Infant Room at Asbury Preschool is led by two co-teachers. It is suitable for children aged 6 weeks to 15 months. Children typically transition to the toddler room around 12 months. To ensure that your child is properly guided through the program, we maintain the teacher to student ratio at 1:4 with up to 8 infants.

Diapers are changed every two hours or as needed. Bottles are given according to each child’s feeding schedule, typically about every 3 hours, and older infants transition to a more set schedule by eating school meals when developmentally ready.

Parent Communication and Involvement
Detailed daily reports are sent home every day and cover everything from when and how long your child napped to when and how much they ate, diapers changed, and any other pertinent information about your child’s day. At the beginning and end of the day, one of the co-teachers will be available to talk with you about your child’s day.

Second Month Baby Milestones: Motor Skills
Two-month-old babies are gaining more control over their bodies. That means they can hold their head a little steadier while lying on their tummies or being supported upright.
In the second month of life, babies continue to have a strong sucking reflex. You may notice your baby likes to suck on a fist or a few fingers. This is one of the best ways babies have of comforting themselves.
At 2 months, your baby doesn’t yet have the coordination to play with toys. But she may bat at a colorful object hanging in front of her. Your baby may even briefly hold a toy that you place in one of her hands.
Second Month Baby Milestones: Sleep
Your baby’s sleep patterns are evolving, but at two months, they still aren’t fully established. At this age, babies sleep 15 to 16 hours a day. But those hours are sporadic, and they usually aren’t ready to sleep through the night. This is especially true for breastfed babies, who generally wake up to eat every three hours or so.
Hang in there for just a few more weeks and you’ll be able to get some much-needed rest. You may even be able to get to a full night’s sleep earlier by helping your baby learn how to fall asleep on her own. Do this by putting your baby into the crib when she’s drowsy rather than fast asleep. She can sleep in your room with you, but it’s not recommended that you have her in your bed.
All babies need to be put to sleep on their backs on firm, flat surface to reduce the risk of sudden infant death syndrome (SIDS). You can provide plenty of tummy time when your baby is awake and supervised. Also, remove all soft objects from Baby’s crib, including pillows, blankets, stuffed animals, and soft bumpers.
Second Month Baby Milestones: Eating
At 2 months, your baby should be taking around 4 ounces at each feeding, and both breast and bottle feedings should be at least every 3 to 4 hours during the day with longer stretches at night. If your baby is having problems gaining weight, your pediatrician will probably advise not to go too long without feeding, even if it means waking your baby.
Expect at least 4 to 6 wet diapers a day. The frequency of poopy diapers may range from a few each day to once every few days. If you’re breastfeeding, your baby’s stools should be soft and slightly runny. If you’re formula-feeding, your baby’s stools will probably be a little firmer, but should not be hard or formed. The color can also vary but should never be red, white, or black.
Breastfed infants should be getting vitamin D supplements starting soon after birth, but other supplements, water, juice, and solid foods usually aren’t necessary. Your pediatrician will recommend what’s best for you and your baby.
Second Month Baby Milestones: The Senses
At two months, babies can see objects — and people — from up to 18 inches away. That means you still need to get pretty close, but your baby will be able to see your face pretty well while feeding. She should also be able to follow movements when you walk close by.
Baby’s hearing is improving, too. Your 2-month-old will especially enjoy listening to the sound of your voice.
Second Month Baby Milestones: Communication
For a 2-month-old, most communication consists of crying. But you may hear a few gurgles, grunts, and even some sweet coos. Your baby should recognize your face and voice, and respond to them. You might even see the first adorable hint of a smile.
One of the most important things you can do at this age is talk to your baby. Even though 2-month-old babies can’t talk back, they will respond to the sound of your voice, and it will encourage them to start forming their own first words in the coming months.
Tips For Your Baby’s Second Month
The first few months of a baby’s life are exciting and nerve-wracking for new parents. Don’t be afraid to ask for advice when you need it. Your pediatrician is the best source for information, but family and friends are good back-ups.

Parenthood is weird, and the sheer strangeness of it all is made all the more obvious by the fact that you can stare at a baby’s face for hours, completely content. Every slight facial expression is riveting. Sometimes you’re convinced you’ll explode from all the cuteness. And then your baby does something strange and you’re just at a loss — like that bubble thing. Honestly, why does a newborn spit bubbles while sleeping? Turns out, it’s pretty normal.
When we’re talking about blowing bubbles, we don’t mean the kind that come out of jar with a cute wand. Some people refer to it as a frothy substance that comes out of their baby’s mouth. Others say it looks like spit in the corners of their baby’s mouth. The one thing these descriptions have in common is a lovely thing called saliva (so, no, it is not caused by soapy milk). But what does it mean exactly when a newborn sleeps with a foamy mouth?
Why do newborns blow bubbles while sleeping?
If your 2-week old baby spits bubbles while sleeping, it isn’t typically a cause for alarm. In fact, it’s usually a result of gravity. “When babies sleep on their backs, saliva will usually go down the back of their throats and then be swallowed,” Dr. Jessica Madden, M.D., FAAP, IBCLC, founder of Primrose Newborn Care, tells Romper. “When they are sleeping on their stomach or side, saliva can easily pool and escape through their mouths. This is the same reason that some older children and adults drool when they sleep (including me).”

Blowing bubbles is also actually a healthy part of development for many babies. “This is a normal part of oral-motor function development that occurs between 3 and 6 months of age,” Madden says. “Drooling is also associated with teething, and many babies get their first tooth around 6 months or so.” Of course, the bubbles your baby makes while they are sleeping are likely not meant to communicate anything to you, at least on a conscious level.
So long as it’s not a massive amount of spit, drooling while sleeping just shows that your baby is developing. “Babies are born with salivary glands, but they do not start to rapidly develop until they are between 3 and 6 months old,” Madden explains. “So babies make small amounts of saliva after birth, but not copious amounts until they are at least 2 to 3 months old.”
In short, the increased saliva that begins appearing around the 2-month mark is the reason your baby can make those bubbles in the first place. Your baby is also experimenting with new facial movements and new motor skills, essentially putting that saliva to work. If the bubble-blowing during sleep isn’t waking your baby up, then the only downside to it all is your picture-perfect photo op being a little more, well, foamy and bubbly looking.
Can newborns have excessive saliva bubbles?

Drooling and making spit bubbles while sleeping is very normal, for the most part. However, if the drooling seems excessive, or if your baby appears to be ill, it is best to check with your child’s doctor to rule out something else. “Lots of drooling is not normal during the newborn period,” Madden says. “Any newborn or young infant (less than 2 months old) with a lot of drooling needs to be evaluated to make sure they do not have a problem with swallowing or their esophagus.”
Another cause of increased drooling, especially as your baby gets older, is a common cold. “Older infants may start to sleep with their mouths open and drool more when they are asleep if they have nasal obstruction (i.e. from mucus with a cold virus),” Madden says. “This should improve as they recover from having a cold.”
Still, precautions should be taken if you notice a major increase in saliva by your baby at any age. “A sudden onset of excessive drooling should be evaluated at any age to make sure there is not a problem with something blocking the throat, such as a foreign body, or an infection of the tonsils or epiglottis,” Madden says.
All in all, drooling is incredibly common — at all ages, of course, but especially for a developing newborn. As with all concerns, though, if you have questions about your baby’s health, definitely reach out to pediatrician for medical advice.

Why does the baby cry after bathing?

Dolphins
The sea around Black Isle is world famous for its dolphin watching! Cruise the waters with EcoVentures or visit Chanonry Point in Fortrose.
EcoVentures’ exhilarating 2-hour boat trip available from 2 years old and showcases the best of what the Moray Firth has to offer – scenery, history and, if you’re lucky, bottlenose dolphins! By nature, dolphins are quite inquisitive, noisy animals, and therefore they often come to the boat to get a closer look!
There are two great places to watch dolphins: the waterfront in the village of North Kessock, directly across from Inverness – dolphins can be seen at high tide right in front of the gift shop and art studio, or alternatively Chanonry. Dot.
On to Black Isle, pass through the village of Avoch and then Fortrose. Fortrose has a one-mile long peninsula jutting out into the sea – Chanonry Point is located opposite the old lighthouse, from the beach. You can often see local dolphins hunting salmon a few meters away from us in the fast, deep and rough water around the tip of the Point at high tide or high tide – it’s amazing. The Chanonry Point car park can get quite crowded, so if you feel like taking a leisurely stroll along the beach from Rosemarkie (neighboring village) or if you’ve camped at Fortrose Bay Campground, you might want to take a walk.

Evening Camping & Dinner
Spend your first night either in Inverness or on the outskirts of town. The campsites we offer are suitable for tents, caravans, caravans and motorhomes, and some are even suitable for glamping or renting stationary caravans for a week.

Evanton’s Black Rock Caravan Park offers a full range of services, as well as the option to rent one of the luxury glamping pods if you want to make your trip easier. Take advantage of their discount for our NC500 members and discounted food at Novar Arms Hotel, just 2 minutes walk from the campsite.
Fortrose Bay Campground – Located on a pebbly beach with breathtaking views of the Moray Firth. Black Isle benefits from its own micro-climate and is therefore virtually free of midges, making it a great camping spot.
Barns Highland – If you’re coming from the East Coast to start your NC500 adventure, Barns Highland is close to Nairn. Their tourist campsites and glamping pods are scattered across this beautiful and secluded landscape surrounded by natural and arable land.
Dinner
There are plenty of eateries to choose from in Inverness and the Black Isle. If you’re staying on Black Island, check out Sutor Creek, the North Kessock Hotel, or check out the Novar Arms Hotel in Evanton (if you’re staying at the Black Rock Campsite, you get a discount on the restaurant bill).

Meet Terri Partridge! She is the Center Director at South Easton KinderCare in Massachusetts. Terri attended North Adams State College, where she earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education. She has been with KinderCare since 1993 and has worked in the childcare field for even longer. Every day, Terri looks forward to helping children discover their true potential. “Children are likely to live up to what you believe of them.” Outside of work, Terri enjoys shopping, bowling, boating, and seeing movies with her family.

Infant Programs (6 weeks–1 year)

centers—most importantly, our naturally gifted infant teachers—will work with
you to make sure the transition goes smoothly. When you step into our infant
classroom, you’ll see how much we want your infant to feel safe, loved, and

Toddler Programs (1–2 Years)
Everything in our toddler classroom is designed for little explorers. That’s
because a lot is going on at this age. When your child is wandering all over the
place, that means they’re learning and discovering new things every day. We’ll
help them explore their interests (and find new ones!) as they play and learn.
Preschool Programs (3–4 Years)
This age is all about expression, when kids really start to form their own ideas
about what they want to play and how they want to create. Every day in our
preschool classroom, your child will explore science experiments, create
artwork, and play pretend—all the skills needed for their big next step:

When you walk into one of our pre-K classrooms, you’ll see artwork and

Kindergarten Programs (5–6 Years)
Welcome to kindergarten: the gateway to grade school and everything that

class sizes and curriculums that mix learning and fun. The basic building
blocks of reading, writing, math, and science are key in kindergarten, so we
make sure they get lots of practice in all of these areas.
Before- and After-School Programs (5–12 Years)
You can count on us to provide reliable care for your school-ager while you’re
at work, with safe transportation from our center to your child’s school and
back! Whether your child wants to start a drama club, build a volcano, or

and more along the way. And yes—little chefs get to eat their culinary creations!
Music Explorers™ (2 – 4 Years)
KinderCare families are already giving a standing ovation to our newest Learning
Adventures program: Music Explorers! Kids will learn to sing, move, listen, play
instruments, and even create their own tunes. Our original curriculum blends math,
science, social studies, literacy, and mindfulness (think yoga!) for a uniquely KinderCare
way of learning the foundations of music.
Phonics Adventures® (2 – 4 Years)
Learning how to read is a whole lot of fun at KinderCare! We help kids grow to love
books and words (and get ready for kindergarten) in our Phonics Adventures program.
From discovering the basics of vowels to practicing poetry, kids learn all about letters
and sounds in small-group lessons made just for their age group. (Bonus: Kids who

“Hygiene“ Hygiene “Hygiene children and adolescents”: what kind of academic discipline is this? How does it compare with other hygienic, clinical and theoretical subjects? nine0003
From the very name of the discipline it is clear that it deals with the hygiene problems of children and adolescents. These problems concern a huge contingent of the population of the Russian Federation. According to the Federal State Statistics Service, as of January 1, 2006, over 33 million children, adolescents and youth under the age of 19 (inclusive) live in Russia – 23% of the country’s population. According to the Ministry of Health and Social Development of Russia for the same period, the absolute number of children and adolescents subject to periodic preventive medical examinations was 24 694 thousand people (17% of the country’s population). However, not only the size of the child population determines the great importance of those issues that are studied by the subject “hygiene of children and adolescents”.
Compared with adults, children are in unique conditions, so the hygienic principles of training and education do not coincide with the principles of professional work or social existence of adults.
Children are characterized by such biological features that sharply, not only quantitatively, but also qualitatively, distinguish them from adults and require for them a slightly different hygiene, different from “hygiene of adults.” More about this in 1898, the outstanding pediatrician N.P. spoke in his introductory lecture to students of the Military Medical Academy. Gundobin: “Hygiene in children, due to the anatomical and physiological characteristics of the body, will be different than in adults.”

Since the impact of environmental factors is far from equivalent at different age stages, the subject of hygiene for children and adolescents is faced with the task of differentiated hygienic regulation of these factors, taking into account age, determining for each of them the age interval within which a specific hygienic standard retains its value.
Rationing in the hygiene of children and adolescents is a scientifically substantiated determination of those parameters (or the intensity) of factors affecting the body that have a beneficial or harmless effect. At the same time, the hygienic norm is considered to be such intensity and duration of the influence of the factor that ensure the preservation of the health of children and adolescents, their timely and harmonious development. nine0003
For unfavorable factors, the true “norm” corresponds to zero, i.e. their absence. Favorable factors, the influence of which is subject to a parabolic dependence, have as a true “norm” the optimal value of their intensity; permissible deviations are located on both sides of the parabola: in the direction of increase – to the maximum allowable, in the direction of decrease – to the minimum required.

In connection with the peculiarities of the sensitivity of the developing organism to most environmental factors (and the need for them), children and adolescents need different norms compared to adults.

In the process of age development, the body goes through a number of periods, or stages, each of which is characterized by a certain level of sensitivity (need) to the influence of various factors, which is inherent in it. At each age stage, the organism turns out to be mature, prepared only for certain parameters of these influences, and it is precisely these parameters that should be considered normal for a given age.
The main theoretical problem of the hygiene of children and adolescents is the functional maturity of the growing organism, its compliance with various influences, i.e. the specific conditions and requirements that life puts before children.
Due to heterochrony of development of individual physiological systems and functions, in the process of ontogenesis, as children grow up , the accumulation of the functional capabilities of a growing organism occurs. The heterochrony of the maturation of the central mechanisms of regulation of the physiological systems ensures the social activity of children at different stages of upbringing and education. This
feature serves as the basis for the age regulation of educational and labor loads of children and adolescents.
The problem of functional maturity comes to the attention of hygienists especially at two turning points in a child’s life. The beginning of systematic education in educational institutions is a problem of readiness for school, especially in the conditions of the modern variety of forms and methods of preparing children. The second important stage in the life of a child is the choice of a life path, i.e. professions. This is the problem of the so-called professional suitability that arises at the end of the 7th-8th grade, when the teenager is faced with the question of who to be, i.e. the question of choosing a profession. nine0003
Heterochronism of the maturation of the child’s organism is taken into account in the study of the functional readiness of 6-year-old children for schooling. In junior schoolchildren, the success of learning, resistance to fatigue, and health prognosis are closely correlated with the degree of formation of such necessary school functions as fine motor skills, speech, and the level of intellectual abilities by the beginning of training. On the basis of a comparative analysis of 6-year-old schoolchildren’s educational capacity and the level of formation of school-required functions, criteria for the functional readiness of the child’s body for systematic learning, criteria for school maturity were developed. nine0003

Pediatrics and hygiene also differ in their attitude towards the child and his environment. Both sciences include in the sphere of attention both interacting parties – both the environment and the child. But pediatrics only takes into account the external environment, and the child is the object of its influence. Hygiene, taking into account the reactions of the child, affects the environment, seeks to organize and, if necessary, transform it, based on age characteristics and human capabilities.
However, these distinctions apply only to the field of science. In the practice of medical support for children’s institutions, both sciences are represented by one doctor (most often a pediatrician), who implements practical measures arising from the scientific achievements of both pediatrics and hygiene. In scientific research, pediatrics and hygiene of children and adolescents are adjacent and to in some way interpenetrating but not coinciding sciences.
The same is the case with physiology. Hygiene children and adolescents cannot exist without physiology, since all hygienic questions are resolved through physiological research. Evidence of this is the very definition of hygiene.
Hygiene studies the influence of living conditions on the human body, but this cannot be done without taking into account the nature of the body’s reaction to it, i.e. without physiological studies. nine0003
The study of only the influencing factor, without taking into account the reaction to it, should be attributed to any science, but not to hygiene. So, if the microclimate is studied, then this is not hygiene, but meteorology; if illumination is studied, this is lighting engineering; if we analyze the schedule of lessons at school, this is pedagogy or school studies. Hygiene begins where they begin to study the thermal state of the body depending on the microclimate; functional state of the body, and above all the visual analyzer, to depending on illumination, fatigue of schoolchildren due to scheduling of lessons, etc.
In other words, hygiene becomes hygiene only when it studies not the environment, but the person in the environment, i.e. when physiological research methods are used.
At the very origins of scientific hygiene, M. Petenkoffer (teacher of F.F. Erisman) called hygiene “applied physiology”, and F.F. Erisman repeatedly emphasized the connection between hygiene and physiology, with the study of “the normal functions of the human body.” nine0003
However, this idea was expressed earlier in an excellent form by the teacher I.M. Sechenova A.M. Filomafitsky: “Dietetics (as hygiene was called at that time) is nothing but physiology applied to practical life” 1 .

The idea of preventive medicine, in particular the issues of children’s hygiene, is most clearly developed in the works of domestic pediatricians, since the pediatrician not only treated sick children, but was also called upon to give advice on the care and upbringing of the child.
By the middle of the XIX century. Russian obstetrician Stepan Fomich Khotovitsky (1796-1885) singled out pediatrics from the course of obstetrics and gynecology into an independent science. Khotovitsky laid the foundation for the development of age-related morphology and physiology. Finding a preschool in San Francisco has been likened to applying to college. But it doesn’t have to be that hard! At Winnie, we’re all about making parents’ lives easier and demystifying the preschool process is one small part of that.
Below is an overview of everything you need to know about the preschool scene in San Francisco so you can find the best school for you.
We’re here to talk about preschool and how to plan for your child’s early education in this crazy, beautiful city of San Francisco.
We’ll start with a quick introduction to the basics, then go straight into a deep dive of the preschool scene in San Francisco. We’ll give you an overview of what’s out there, when you should start thinking about it, what you can expect to pay and how to go about finding the best school for you.
So let’s start with some basic building blocks. When we say “preschool” what specifically are we talking about?
These are the most common preschool programs.
Early preschool: These programs for 2–3 year olds generally focus on building social skills and comfort in a group setting. Potty training is often not required at this age.
Preschool: The traditional preschool program is for 3–4 year olds and is designed to lead right into kindergarten. Preschool may follow a “school day” structure that helps kids become comfortable with the classroom environment. Curricula vary widely, but they all share a common goal: to prepare kids for success in grade school.
Transitional Kindergarten: Special program for children who miss the September cutoff for school the year they turn 5. Essentially it is a free extra year of schooling, with a slightly gentler curriculum than kindergarten. Parents can choose a private school or they can enroll through the public school district.
That said, there are endless variations when it comes to preschool. Some programs are very academic, while others are based in the creative arts, foreign language, religious education or straight-up play. Some have mixed-age classrooms while others group children with their peers. Some don’t have classes at all and take place outdoors 100% of the time! Which brings me to another question parents commonly ask: with all this variation, how does preschool relate to child care?
There is a huge amount of flexibility out there to match what’s good for your family. If you need full-time child care, the good news is that many preschools are set up to accommodate working parents, with either full-day schedules or aftercare programs. Likewise, if you don’t need or want full-time child care, there are lots of part-time programs with morning or afternoon sessions.
So now let’s talk about some of the data we uncovered while surveying the current landscape for early education in San Francisco, so you know what to expect.
The first point I want to make is that there are a LOT more preschools than you might think. SF can seem like a super competitive environment — I’ve heard more than once that you’re screwed if you didn’t enroll when you were pregnant. The fact is that just isn’t true. There are a huge variety of quality programs to choose from.
Of the schools we surveyed, less than half were fully enrolled. We found over 60 preschools with openings either immediately or in the fall. So if you were like me and waited a little too long to enroll, you would still have a huge number of schools to choose from.
Another thing that is wonderful about San Francisco is the enormous diversity of curricula we have. If you’re looking for a Russian immersion Montessori inspired project-based primarily outdoor preschool, you could probably find that. In fact, bilingual or immersion programs are incredibly popular. Over 1/3 of SF kids are learning a second language in their preschool!
The distribution of languages definitely aligns with San Francisco’s demographics. We live in a diverse city and we have preschool teachers from all over the world. If you want your child to learn a second language, this is a great time to start!
If you do need full-time child care, most preschools can accommodate you. About 2/3 of them offer full-year, full-time programs, and about half of them can accommodate younger children, either with an attached daycare or a mixed-age classroom. This is a big win for working parents with two or more children — managing drop-offs at multiple locations is a major hassle.
So clearly, there are a TON of great options to choose from. With the exception of the most popular schools, you generally don’t have to enroll years and years in advance. However, planning ahead and securing a spot a year or two in advance can still be a good idea in some cases. Here are some rules of thumb to help you figure out the right timing.
First I want to explain that there are two types of preschool — those that run year-round and those that utilize the school year from September to May.
Generally speaking, the year-round schools will enroll new students at any time, but they are most likely to have spaces in the fall when children are graduating to kindergarten.
The school-year programs often like to enroll the whole class for a given year at once, usually in winter the year before. These schools may not accept applications outside of their enrollment window, so start making inquires around October of the year before you want your child to start school.
So here are some common situations in which it’s a good idea to give yourself a lot of time. You should apply early if:
You have a particular school in mind, especially if it’s prestigious or very popular
You plan to take advantage of needs-based or subsidized programs — there is always a waitlist for these
You are interested in a less common type of program — parent co-ops, forest schools, German immersion, etc
You will absolutely need full-time, full-year care
On the flip side, you can relax a little if:
You are comfortable with an in-home preschool, since they are more likely to have available spaces
You aren’t set on a specific type of curriculum
You can be more flexible about scheduling and do a part-time program
You are able to travel outside your neighborhood if needed
Finally, here are some tips and tricks we’ve heard from the parents on Winnie who have been through this process.
Be persistent! Spaces do open up at all times of year due to changing family circumstances. It can’t hurt to check in every few weeks if it’s a program you really love.
If the school is associated with a church or organization, they often give admission priority to members.
Check if your employer has an affiliated preschool. These are some SF employers associated with schools where employees get priority admission.
Check if you have an Employee Assistance Program (EAP) through your employer. Many of them have a service to help employees find child care. They can do a lot of the grunt work of calling around and scheduling tours.
Finally, let’s discuss the big question — how much is this going to cost? In most cases, preschool isn’t free. Here are some rough guidelines so you know what to expect.
Based on our data, these are the median monthly fees for full-time preschool programs. Like everything else in San Francisco, it’s expensive. These numbers are twice the national average.
But before we freak out, let’s take a look at the distribution. As you can see, most schools fit into this chunk here with a range of $1193 to $1843. So there are still plenty of less expensive options out there, as well as a number of needs-based programs that can help if you qualify.
So when can you expect to be on the higher end of the price range? Here are some rules of thumb. You’ll often pay more if:
You need full-time childcare of care outside normal hours.
Your child is younger or not potty-trained. Schools who have to have extra staff to accommodate diaper changes will factor that into their tuition.
The school is based in a home. This may be a little counter-intuitive, but it’s because centers have a much higher capacity, with an average classroom size of 30 and a higher ratio of students to teachers. In-home preschools are limited to either 8 or 12 depending on their license, and have much lower ratios.
Finally, you’ll definitely pay more for an in-demand, prestigious school.
On the flip side, you can pay less if:
You are able to participate in a parent co-op. You’ll have to volunteer, often one day per week teaching or assisting, but fees are much lower — the average monthly tuition for a co-op is $400.
As mentioned before, center-based programs tend to be cheaper.
If your schedule is flexible, you can choose a part-time program that fits your budget. Many schools offer 2 or 3 day/week programs.
If you qualify for financial aid. Generally this is based on income. If you think you might qualify, head to childrenscouncil.org and check out their excellent resources for families.
If your child is over 4 and you’re a resident of San Francisco, congrats! You get to use the SF Preschool for All program, which automatically takes 25% off the cost of preschool — no matter what your income is. Not every school offers this benefit, but MANY of them do.
Okay! So just to recap, so far we’ve learned about the types of programs out there, what our options are regarding schedule, curriculum and price range. Once you have your list, it’s time to start reaching out to the schools. This first email or call can be pretty brief — introduce yourself, give the age of your child and indicate that you’re interested in their program. The next step is likely to be a tour of some kind, either an open house or 1:1. Definitely ask if you should or should not bring your child to this first visit — providers are all different in what they prefer. The in-person meeting is your best opportunity to get information, so it’s a good idea to have a list of your most important questions written out so you don’t forget anything while you’re there.
There are many, many things to consider when choosing a preschool — we could give an entire talk just about that. But these are some general basics that you’ll want to think about.
How will you as the parent be involved? Find out how teachers communicate with the parents and how you will get feedback about your child’s behavior and progress. How are disputes between parents and teachers handled?
If you have child care needs, does the school accommodate them? What do they do to make drop-offs and pick-ups easier? What if you happened to be late?
Observe the environment closely and if possible, observe an actual class with the teachers your child would have. Does the day-to-day routine reinforce the school’s overall curriculum? Does it seem like a safe and nurturing environment?
Finally, many people aren’t aware that information pertaining to the schools’ license is publicly available. It’s really smart to check this out!

All licensed preschools are inspected regularly and these inspections are public information. You can also see if any complaints have been filed against the school and even subscribe to updates in case their licensing status changes.

How to get to the volcano on foot or by bus, what to see, how to buy tickets for the cable car and spend the night at the top.
Teide Volcano
Teide Volcano is the highest point in Tenerife and all of Spain. On the territory around the Teide is the Spanish National Park – a natural reserve, listed in 2007 by UNESCO.
Teide National Park (Parque Nacional del Teide) received its protected status in 1954. This is the largest, most visited natural site in Spain, which is of world importance. Its area is 14 thousand hectares. The historical and natural scientific value of the reserve is extremely high. Teide Park is a popular tourist area. Travelers, climbers, adventure seekers come here from all over the world.

What is interesting in Teide Park?
Teide Park is located in the Las Caniadas caldera, formed 150,000 years ago. The researchers claim that the level of the top point of El Teide once reached 5000 meters, but part of the top collapsed after a strong eruption. Now the height of Teide is 3718 m.
The grandiose cone of the volcano rises in the center of the park. The surrounding area with bizarre peaks and frozen lava flows looks so unusual and picturesque that it is often called the “lunar landscape”. In the local landscape, you can see amazingly shaped rock formations: the Finger of God, the Bear Mountain, the Queen’s Shoe. In winter, the summit of Teide is covered with snow.
Teide volcano eruption
Teide is considered to be a dormant but active volcano – it exudes a perceptible smell of sulfur. The Guanches believed that Guayota, the evil demon of the island, lives inside Teide.
Geological evidence of landscape changes in different periods has been preserved in the territory of the Teide Park. They can be used to study the history of the formation and development of volcanic islands. The European Scientific Observatory operates in the park.
The caldera has a peculiar, contrasting climate. The bright sun is combined with a sharp wind and low temperatures. I advise you to bring windbreakers, shoes with grooved soles for walking on slippery volcanic ground, sunglasses and an effective protective cream.
Unique flora and fauna
The park is distinguished by its unique flora. Due to the high altitude and harsh weather conditions, few plant species have taken root here. In total, botanists number 168 species; 11 of them are endemics of this natural park. Only here you can see the Canarian pine and Wildpret’s Bruise (tajinaste rojo).
The fauna of Teide Park is varied. Seven hundred species of invertebrates are represented here, most of them are endemic species of the Canary archipelago. Three species of reptiles, five varieties of bats, ten species of birds live here. From mammals you can meet sheep, hedgehogs, rabbits.
Teide cable car
There are two visitor information centers in the park. A road has been laid through the entire reserve, and observation platforms have been equipped along this entire route. You can complete your trip with a funicular lift and view the “lunar” landscapes, valleys and rocks of the Teide National Park from above.
How to buy tickets for the Teide Cable Car?
It is better to buy tickets for the Teide Cable Car in advance online at volcanoteide.com/ru/, so as not to stand in a huge queue. Tickets are on sale for a specific time, so don’t be late. The cable car operates from 9:00 to 17:00. The rise is allowed only until 16:00. You will climb from a height of 2000m to 3555 meters!
Tickets cost €27 round trip. Children’s is 3 times cheaper. On the slides, I showed the process of buying a ticket. The ticket will be sent to your email as a PDF file. Print it out or download it to your phone. The main thing is to show the barcode before boarding.

Tip: Bring strong sunscreen and warm clothing. And don’t forget comfortable closed shoes.
How can I return tickets if the cable car is closed?

It often happens that the cable car is closed due to bad weather conditions, in which case you will receive an SMS and a letter. But do not rush to return tickets, they have 7 Fridays in a week. During the day, the Teide cable car is closed and opened many times. Just visit the site more often and see if the road is open.
Cancel ticket in your personal account
If the road is still closed by the time of departure, then go to your personal account and click cancel the reservation. Ticket cancellation costs €6 round trip, but if the road is closed due to weather conditions, the full amount will be returned without penalty.
We have bought tickets this way many times and returned many times, the road is closed very often.

Where to eat near the Teide National Park?
There are several restaurants and cafes in the park. For a quick bite to eat sandwiches at Cafe & Bar Los Roques in the Parador Hotel, but only if you are very hungry. In the same hotel, there is a restaurant on the side, where the food is better.
Further along the road you will find 2 restaurants with Canarian cuisine designed for tourists. You can have a hearty meal there, but tasteless:

But I advise you to have a delicious meal before or after a trip to the park in these wonderful restaurants with Canarian cuisine:

How to get to Teide by bus?
How to get from Costa Adeje, Las Americas, Los Cristianos to Teide by bus
Bus number 342 runs from the south, travel time 2 hours 15 minutes. Costa Adeje (Estación) – Los Cristianos – Arona – La Escalona – Vilaflor – Parador de Turismo – Las Cañadas del Teide – El Portillo
Bus line 348 on Teide
The bus leaves at 9:15 in the morning from the Costa Adeje Estación bus station. Return back at 15:40 on the same bus from the cable car station.

How to get from Puerto de la Cruz to Teide by bus?
Bus line 348 to Teide
Bus 348 runs from Puerto de la Cruz to the Teide cable car (stop Teleférico del Teide 7685). – Las Cañadas del Teide (Parador de Turismo).
Departure from the bus station Puerto de la Cruz (Estación) in the morning at 9:30. Returns from the cable car station at 16:05. The fare is about €7.23, timetables and stops are here.
Where to buy a guided tour of the Teide?
It seems to me that the bus trip is a so-so option, there is not much to see. It is better to pay a little extra and ride along with the tour. You will be picked up from your hotel and driven through the Teide National Park. See the Las Cañadas crater and Teide itself, and learn a lot from your guide along the way.
Book a tour with hotel pickup, guide and cable car tickets included. An individual sightseeing tour of the island will cost €170 for 3 people.
And if you want to challenge yourself, take a day trip to the Teide with an official guide. You will walk up to the crater (permit included) and go down by cable car. Transfer from the hotel is also included.
I also recommend enjoying the sunset in the Teide National Park with a glass of champagne and then watching the stars through the telescope with an experienced guide. Tour page.

Definitions
A child zone is a separate, fully functional zone that is technically a subdomain of another zone. For example, it is possible to have domain.com and sub.domain.com as individual zone objects, each with their own SOA records. Most commonly, this separation allows you to delegate a subdomain to another provider. Child zones also allow you to give control of a subdomain to another Dyn account.
The original “base” zone is referred to as the parent zone, e.g. domain.com; the separated subdomain is referred to as child zone or cut node, e.g. sub.domain.com. For more technical detail, please see RFC 1035.

Creating a cut node
There are several ways to create a child zone, depending on your organizational needs. At its most basic, you can simply add NS records to a subdomain to assign it to another provider:

At OtherDomain LLC, you would create a new, full zone called sub.domain.com, and populate it with records as normal. Requests for records for domain.com would still be answered by Dyn, while requests for sub.domain.com and its own child nodes (e.g. hello.sub.domain.com) would be answered by ns1/ns2.otherdomain.com.
Put another way, a request for records at sub.domain.com would be answered like so:
root nameservers -> .com nameservers -> domain.com nameservers (Dyn) -> sub.domain.com nameservers (OtherDomain) -> SOA record
There are some caveats, however. Before you can add NS records and delegate the subdomain elsewhere, the child node cannot contain any other records or subdomains itself (e.g. www.sub.domain.com). If you are creating a brand new child node, this isn’t an issue; if you are delegating an existing subdomain, some coordination with our client services is required.

If the node exists and has records, but no subdomains:
Create the child zone with the new provider. Populate the new zone with the desired records, and make sure the zone is live and published. You can use utilities like dig to check the resolution against your new nameservers, e. g. _dig sub.domain.com @ns1.otherguy.com soa_.
Reduce the TTLs for the subdomain and all records beneath it to 30 seconds or less. Keep track of the highest TTL for any record in the subdomain; you will need to wait at least that amount of time for cached records to expire with all DNS resolvers.
When you are ready to cut over to the new provider, perform the following steps:
In the DynECT interface, navigate to the node, and click “Delete Node” on the righthand side. Accept the warning, but do not publish.
Navigate back to the node, and add NS records for the new provider.
Publish the changes.
This will atomically swap the old records with the new NS records; new queries will now be answered by the new provider. The resolution for the rest of the parent domain will be unaffected.
If the node exists and has subdomains:
Follow steps 1 and 2 above, then contact client services. To prevent zones from being accidentally placed in a broken state, safeguards in the Dyn interface disallow the creation of NS records at any node with children. The client services team will be able to replace the node atomically without causing resolution loss.
Delegating from Dyn to another DNS provider, with in-zone/in-parent glue
Some configurations require in-zone/in-parent glue records. In this scenario, A records for the new provider’s nameservers are added to the parent zone beneath the cut node, like so:

With this configuration, the NS records for sub.domain.com direct visitors to query ns1/ns2.sub.domain.com, which already hold the IP addresses for the destination nameservers. Further queries will be directed to these machines.
If the node does not already exist:
Create the child zone with the new provider. Populate the new zone with the desired records, and make sure the zone is live and published. You can use utilities like dig to check the resolution against your new nameservers, e.g. _dig sub.domain.com @ns1.otherguy.com soa_.
In the Dyn interface, create the new node.
Under the new node, create the new subdomains, e.g. ns1.sub.domain.com, and populate them with the desired A records. Do not publish it yet.
When you have added all of the nameserver IP addresses, add NS records for them to the original child node, e.g. sub.domain.com.
Publish the zone. This will create both the NS records and A records simultaneously.
If the node does already exist:
Follow step 1 above.
Reduce the TTLs for the subdomain and all records beneath it to 30 seconds or less. Keep track of the highest TTL for any record in the subdomain; you will need to wait at least that amount of time for cached records to expire with all DNS resolvers.
Contact client services. To prevent zones from being accidentally placed in a broken state, safeguards in the user interface disallow the creation of NS records at any node with children. The client services team will be able to replace the node atomically without causing resolution loss.
Delegating from another DNS provider to Dyn
This method is essentially the reverse of the previous two delegation types: you have a parent zone elsewhere, and would like to delegate a single child node to Dyn.
Create the child zone in Managed DNS. Child zone creation works just like any other zone, because it is just another standard DNS zone; here, you’ll just be creating the domain at a lower level, e.g. sub.domain.com.
As advised above, lower the TTLs of the child node with your current DNS provider to 30 seconds or less. Keep track of the highest TTL for any record in the subdomain; you will need to wait at least that amount of time for cached records to expire with all DNS resolvers. (Do not lower TTLs to zero, as some DNS implementations may consider this to mean “keep this record permanently”.)
When you are ready to delegate, you will need to atomically replace the existing records with your new NS records, where XX is your pool number:

To avoid downtime, please ensure the records are swapped atomically; that is, the old records are deleted and the new records are added in a single publish action. If your current DNS provider’s user interface does not allow you to do this, please contact the provider’s support team for further assistance in avoiding resolution issues.
Transferring to another Dyn account
This method is a little different, as you will need consent and coordination between both the “giving” party (the current owning account for the parent zone) and the “receiving” party (the destination account for the child zone). You will need to contact our client services team for assistance in vetting and performing the child zone transfer between accounts.
Please note: Certain advanced services cannot be transferred between accounts. If the child node or its children utilize advanced services, e.g. Traffic Management, please inform the client services team when requesting the transfer so they can properly assist you.
If the child node does not exist:
In the parent account, create the desired child zone. Child zone creation works just like any other zone, because it is just another standard DNS zone; here, you’ll just be creating the domain at a lower level, e. g. sub.domain.com. Populate it with the desired records and nodes, then publish the zone.
Contact the client services team for further instructions. They may request that the owning account create certain records in the parent domain to prove ownership or may request certain documentation.Once validated, the child zone will be moved to the new receiving account, while NS records are placed in the parent zone. The receiving account may now utilize the child zone as desired, while the remainder of the parent zone is still controlled by the giving account.If the child node already exists:
Please contact the client services team. They will be able to separate the child node into a full zone and transfer it to the “gaining” account.
Frequently Asked Questions
I want to create a child zone, but the parent zone belongs to another account. Do I need to contact client services?
Yes. For security purposes, we do not allow customers to create child zones for existing parent zones without proper authorization. Please see “Transferring to another Dyn account” above.
I’m trying to add NS records to a node, but they’re not listed in the dropdown, or I get the error “Cannot add a NS at a node with children”.

We know that you may have questions about how our Kid Zone Drop-In centers “work” including policies and pricing. Below are a list of our most common questions, but you are encouraged to talk with any Kid Zone staff members or front desk staff at any of our locations or Contact Us if you have more questions.

How do I register my child for Kid Zone Drop-In Nursery Care?
Registering your child for the Kid Zone takes just a few minutes. Once you have registered your child for Kid Zone care it takes just a few minutes to check them in and check them out during your visits. Please note that you may be required to re-register your child at each branch location where you use Kid Zone if they are not in our centralized system. This is for your child’s safety.
Can I check my child(ren) into the Kid Zone and leave to run errands, visit the doctor, or do other quick things?
No. You are required to stay in the building and available (by text or page) for the entire time your child is in the Kid Zone. Any failure to comply will carry appropriate consequences.
*Ask to speak to the Kid Zone coordinator if you are talking place in a class, bootcamp or personal training session that plans on taking place outside.
Are your Kid Zone centers safe? Is the staff qualified?
Yes. Our Kid Zone Drop-In centers are designed to be a safe place for children within our larger facilities. Only authorized users who drop-off a child can pick-up that child. If there are issues with a child (behavior, illness, etc.) while in the Kid Zone the parent will be notified by page and text immediately. There are policies for weather emergencies and similar circumstances, too.
Each legal guardian may assign up to three authorized users for drop off and pick up. If one user drops off in Kid Zone they must verbally tell a staff member that a different authorized user will pick up. If a verbal warning is not issued at time of drop off, Kid Zone staff will not release children to the authorized user at time of pick up.
Our staff is screened and carefully vetted, and they all carry required certifications and qualifications to work with children in our facilities. Staff is, specifically, certified in CPR and First Aid to support the safety of your child during your visit. In addition, staff members work hard to develop a variety of age-appropriate activities to keep your child active and engaged in Kid Zone.
Our Kid Zone facilities and staff are all compliant with our Child Safety Policies and Procedures.
How much does Kid Zone and Drop-In Nursery time cost? What are my payment options?
Kid Zone is an ADD-ON to membership (not included in monthly fees) but it can be added in just a few minutes at any of our front desks. Payment at the front desk or Kid Zone can be made by cash, check, debit or credit card. Online and on-going (auto draft) payments are ONLY AVAILABLE TO MEMBERS.
MONTHLY AUTO DRAFT – Up-to 2 hours/day/child of Kid Zone time. $15/month* for one child. $20/month* for two-or-more children in the same family.

Can my child have food or beverage in the Kid Zone?
Yes. You can leave a healthy snack or a drink with your child. You can provide water or clear juice in spill-proof cups (milk allowed ONLY for infants) and healthy snacks. Branches may vary in the type of snacks allowed so please check with your Kid Zone specifically. Note that NO candy, gum, peanut products, or meals are allowed.

Children | Sanatorium AQUALOO Sochi
Children’s infrastructure in the boarding house “Akvaloo” pleases all guests of the complex, both children and their parents! While parents are getting used to a large area, visiting various restaurants, spa treatments, sports events, professional educators, teachers and experienced animators will take care of the children.
Aquarik Children’s Development Center
Working hours: from 9 am to 4.30 pm.
Children’s development center “Akvarik” employs educators and professional animators.
A variety of educational activities and creative activities are held with children every day. The center also has a talent studio open to the public. Fun mini-discos are organized for children in the evenings.
Children’s club “Looshka”
Working hours: from 10 am to 18 pm.
In the children’s club, teachers are engaged in outdoor and educational games with children, drawing lessons with crayons, pencils and paints, modeling from plasticine and clay, dancing and other interesting activities.
Children’s animation
Opening hours: from 10 am to 10 pm.
Experienced animators have developed special children’s programs for the youngest guests of the resort complex “Akvaloo”:
“Tyap-Lyap”. Tyap-Lyap Children’s Art Studio will teach any child to draw and make various crafts from any available materials roles of a small actor
Competitive programs — there are more than 200 famous characters in the stock of the animation show of the complex, who are ready to amuse the guests of the boarding house every day from morning to evening!

There are several children’s towns in the park area on the territory of the boarding house.
There is also a children’s entertainment area on the beach.

Children’s amusement park, located next to building No. 1 “Azure”, invites its young visitors to ride on special small cars and carousels, frolic on an inflatable trampoline, compete in air hockey or just watch cartoons in the equipped 3D cinema “Triumph”.
Swimming pools for children
!!! Dear guests of the complex, follow the rules of conduct and safety in the aqua zone, do not leave children unattended by adults!
Working hours: from 10 am to 10 pm.
In the indoor water park: pool with mini slides for the little ones. For older children: the Multislide – 25 slide designed for children consists of 4 tracks with a simultaneous descent. A slide with a length of 24 meters, the height of the slide is 5 meters. Also for older children, slides “Slide for rafts”, “Rafting”, “Space boat” and others are suitable.
In the outdoor water park: the water in the pool is fresh. The temperature in the pool in summer warms up to 30 degrees. The pool area is equipped with a waterfall and slides for children: “Elephants”, “Rabbit”, “Rainbow”.
Outdoor pool near building No. 8 “Ocean”: there is a children’s section in the pool for younger guests. Children from 12 years old can also swim in the outdoor pool on the beach near building No. 7 “Morskoy”.

Education: Bachelor of Arts in Health Care Administration; Associate of Arts in Early Childhood Education
I have been in the industry for almost 20 years and have two children of my own. I have worked with every age group and been in administration for four and a half years of it. I love to watch children grow and learn. Seeing them reach their milestones brings a smile to my face. I enjoy developing relationships with the families and making memories here at Childtime.
