what people are saying

FTC has become part of our family this past year! The staff are all so accommodating and communicative and all 3 of my guys adore their therapists and I adore the admin staff!

FTC is a true blessing in our lives, the facility is spotlessly clean and so welcoming. My boys always look forward to coming and are making steady progress. Our whole experience here–top to bottom could not be more wonderful! I cannot recommend this practice enough!

–CAROLYN R.

“FTC is part of our story. We are proud to be part of their amazing and supportive community. We are beyond grateful for everything they have done for our family.

YOU and YOUR CHILD MATTER. FTC Kids is whole child focused, not just the specific therapist’s expertise. They work as a team and they work with you. It is warm and welcoming. You just feel good going there.  You know your child is in good hands.  They make you feel like part of their family. They make sure you understand and are not left feeling despair.  They give you hope. You see results AND my kids LOVE it and look forward to going there.”

–NICOLE G.

“I have noticed significant reductions in my son’s engagement in stereotypical behaviors, he’s more cooperative and social, and there has been a positive change in his social behaviors.

I chose FTC Kids because I was so blown away by the equipment, the knowledgeable staff, and the attention to the child AND family, that when I left I knew continuing was absolutely necessary. It boils down to the people that work there. Everyone working at FTC Kids is clearly very passionate and knowledgeable about their career and lovingly committed to the families they serve.”

No. 31. Tale “Little children – small worries, big children – big worries”

This is a well-known Russian proverb that has long lost its relevance.

Moral: still many people believe that problems, like a snowball, grow with age.

Comment: Current evidence suggests that the more parents invest in raising a small child, the fewer problems will arise when he grows up. Many mothers chat with neighbors during walks instead of communicating with their child. But it’s so interesting to see the world through his eyes again and suddenly begin to understand what was once missed, because children grow up very quickly (it only seems to a sleepy mother that this process is endless).

Every child goes through a series of crises. When parents are nearby and help him resolve them, he learns with them to overcome age-appropriate difficulties. Therefore, in adulthood, he will be able to independently take up the solution of his own problems. However, if in childhood he could not cope with something, since all problems were solved by adults, then any stress in adulthood or adolescence will lead to the collapse of ideas about himself, the fear of overcoming himself. And a person will prefer an indirect road in the hope that problems will be solved by themselves at this time. It is known that people who are not taught to deal with difficulties and overcome stress become addicts, that is, addicted people (from smoking, alcohol, drugs, computer games).

Range of applicability of the story: conversation with parents-to-be, with parents of newborns, and to a lesser extent, with parents of teenagers who already exhibit addictive behavior.

Baby and cat – super cute combination! Furry pets can develop strong relationships with children. They also act as play buddies for children. However, cats and babies do not always understand each other well. This situation can lead to scratches, bites and misbehavior of the animal.

Most children who grew up in a family with at least one cat are kinder and more affectionate, they respect and strive to take care of all other living beings. Also, these children have a more developed sense of compassion.

If you are a family with a cat that has a newborn, or a family with a small child who has decided to get a pet, remember the simple rules for dating and relationships between children and your pet.

Warning signs

When it comes to playing between cats and children, the most common fear is that the animal will scratch or bite the child. However, few people understand that a child can also injure an animal. Therefore, you will need to secure both sides from each other.

At first, while the cat and the child are just getting to know each other, we recommend that you closely monitor their joint games. If you notice that your cat is showing any warning signs, such as pricked ears or nervous tail twitching, remove the cat or take the baby aside, allowing it to back off and calm down.

Running in circles

Toddlers often try to catch up with a cat when it is not in the mood for play, moving in dashes in search of a safe place. To avoid this situation, designate a place for the cat out of the reach of children’s hands. There the animal will be able to rest, sleep and recover. If the cat prefers to rest in one room, close the door or block the passage to this room with a playpen. Teach your child that the cat also needs to take a break from games.

Empathy training

It is never too early to start teaching children to treat animals with gentleness, kindness and compassion. Many of the children have learned through practice that kitten tails are not toys! Sharp claws and teeth of a pet are always on the alert. Take the time to show your little one how to properly care for and play with cats.

Recommended: Tips for new cat owners

Use your hand to gently guide the baby in his play, control the strength of the stroke. If you’re lucky, your pet will show approval by purring.

Cats and newborns

The appearance of a baby in the house will be stressful for your pet. Some cats don’t like these changes. Therefore, the sooner you introduce some elements related to the birth of a child, the better. So, for example, foreign veterinarians advise periodically playing records with the sounds that a child makes: crying, laughing, cooing.

Accustom your cat to the new smell beforehand. For example, you can iron it after treating your hands with baby lotion or powder.

This also includes the question of permutation. If necessary, move the litter box to a new location beforehand. Before the birth of the baby, the animal will get used to the new place, and you will save yourself from constant puddles.
