In addition to formal instruction in the classroom, the religion program provides opportunities for the students to live the faith through prayer services, participation in liturgies and reception of sacraments.  Our students strive to see the sacredness in the depths of everything and to be inspirations for their families and community.  At M.I.Q., Catholic Identity is the top priority, as we find that faith filled activities are more powerful than a stand alone religion class.

Busing Guidelines

Appendix C. Busing Guidelines

In order to practice physical distancing on a school bus, the seating capacity must be reduced. This may necessitate the use of a seating chart to designate which seats are available for use.

Routing is the responsibility of the school’s transportation department. High schools and other transportation departments need to evaluate the needs of the student’s, routes needed, and transportation resources required while following all bussing guidelines.

Bussing Guidelines:

· Determine maximum capacity for students of each vehicle while meeting 6-foot physical distancing requirement.

· Create a plan for seating based upon maximum capacity determined above, and develop a plan for bus routes that accommodates the capacity limitations.

· Mark or block seats that must be left vacant. Sample seating options

o Option 1: Seat one student to a bench on both sides of the bus, skipping every other row

o Option 2: Seat one student to a bench, alternating rows on each side to create a zigzag pattern on the bus

· Instruct students and parents to maintain 6-foot distancing at bus stops and while loading/unloading the bus

· Seat students from the rear of the bus forward to prevent students from walking past each other. To prevent students from walking past each other, afternoon runs should be boarded based upon the order in which students will be dropped off. (Students who get dropped off first should board the bus last, and sit in the front)

· Students and staff must wear face coverings at bus stops and on buses

· Follow all cleaning practices per CDC Cleaning and Disinfecting Your Facilityguidelines

· Vehicles may have exceeded a 45-day maintenance or inspection date while sitting out of service during the COVID-19 stay-at-home orders. Vehicles need to meet all maintenance and inspection requirements before being placed back into service in accordance with Title 13 CCR 1232 Periodic Preventive Maintenance Inspection

· Schools and drivers need to make sure the vehicle’s certificate is still valid and that 13 months from the last inspection have not been exceeded in accordance with Vehicle Code 2807 Lawful Orders and Inspections

MIQ Children and Families Need Your Help

During these unsettling times, one thing is certain, our community’s unwavering commitment to Catholic education. Our families have been impacted by a hardship such COVID-19 pandemic. Some have been laid off, furloughed, or had significant reduction in salaries. Families who are small business owners are struggling to make ends meet, and some of our students are wondering if their families will be able to continue to provide them with an MIQ education.

Please continue to pray for our MIQ family, and if you can, please consider a contribution to the Knight Relief Fund. The fund will provide additional tuition assistance for our students and help make up the difference in anticipated financial losses to the school due to the postponement of our fundraising efforts. These fundraising efforts historically generate over $100,000 and have a direct impact on student programs and tuition support to our families.

To make your gift, contribute by check, please send your donation to:

Current data from other Catholic schools around the country are seeing families currently receiving aid needing an additional 20%-40%, as well as an increase in families, who under normal circumstances would be able to pay full tuition, requesting tuition assistance. Since we really have no idea how many families will need assistance this school year, our appeal will remain active through the end of July!

On behalf of our families in need, thank you for your generosity and willingness to help at this critical time. May God continue to keep you and your family safe and healthy and may God continue to bless Mary Immaculate Queen School.

Agatha Christie “The Seeds in the Pocket” – review from Arielliasa

Every time I return to Miss Marple , I return home.

Plot .
In the morning, Rex Fortescue dies at his workplace and his last words: “ Tea. .. what the hell… did you put in tea… ” Inspector Neil , investigating this sudden death, learns that the man was poisoned at breakfast, which he spent with his family at the Yew Hut. But guessing the identity of the killer is not so easy, because the victim was not loved and everyone benefits from his death. Yes, and this counting rhyme, which the old woman speaks of, who arrived just in time to help him.

Not surprising, but I’ll say it anyway. Too bad I didn’t have enough pages in this book. The investigation pleased, the new counting rhyme too ( the writer does an excellent job of inserting something like ), but the fact that the ending ended so abruptly was disappointing. I understand that this was not written to reveal the family drama, but I really wanted to see this. There were all the prerequisites and even opportunities, but as a result, dust in the eyes.

The crime itself is simple and one does not have to think long about the identity of the murderer, although the writer tries to show off, « substituting ” some characters with transparent hints that they could do it. But with the ease of unraveling, interest does not go anywhere. It was really interesting how the past of some heroes is revealed, how they reveal themselves under its influence and how they act in the present.

Most liked Mary Doe , Pat and Lancelot . All with a different character, dreams and image, but they are better written than the others. Impeccable Mary , smiling after the murder, as if it did not touch her at all ( in the last conversation with the inspector, she surpassed herself ). Calm and reasonable Pat , who found herself in the circle of someone else’s family, unlike her own. And bad boy Lancelot saying the right things and showing his brother in a not very flattering light just because he can. Most often, men like him leave me indifferent, but besides the badness, there is a lot more hidden in him, so I could not pass by and not appreciate it.

I also want to say a little about the motives that prompted the crime. People who live from childhood with the knowledge that money is the key to a happy life ( which is not far from the truth, as they say, it is not money that matters, but their number ) do not often change. They get used to and growing up, remain the same, even despite all the good things that happen to them. And killing does not become something difficult for them, because beliefs are more important than the moral component. You can condemn, hate for cold-bloodedness and expose a villain, but I did not succeed. Yes, crime is always bad, but some people just don’t see the difference between good and evil and can’t be changed.

Miss Marple played a significant role, although it appeared in the middle of the book, and, as always, pleased. I don’t know why I love this old woman so much, for all our dissimilarity to each other, but I’m not going to change anything. She is so good.
