AMERICA’S MOST ACCREDITED

We’re so proud!

Nationally only 10% of daycares are accredited – nearly 100% of our learning centers are. That’s a big difference,
and that means KinderCare kids are getting the very best. Here’s why.

SCHOOL-READY

What Learning Looks Like

Our talented early-childhood teachers set kids down the path toward becoming lifelong learners in a positive, safe, and nurturing environment.

Monona KinderCare Programs

Infant Programs (6 weeks–1 year)

Leaving your baby in someone else’s care is a big step. Everyone at our
centers—most importantly, our naturally gifted infant teachers—will work with
you to make sure the transition goes smoothly. When you step into our infant
classroom, you’ll see how much we want your infant to feel safe, loved, and
ready to explore their world.

Toddler Programs (1–2 Years)

Everything in our toddler classroom is designed for little explorers. That’s
because a lot is going on at this age. When your child is wandering all over the
place, that means they’re learning and discovering new things every day. We’ll
help them explore their interests (and find new ones!) as they play and learn.

Discovery Preschool Programs (2–3 Years)

This age is filled with so much wonder and curiosity. That’s why we offer a ton
of books and toys and bring artwork down to kids eye level. Children in
discovery preschool also begin to learn how we all work together in a
classroom. Simple math and science, pretend play, and group play help them
get used to a more structured school setting.

Preschool Programs (3–4 Years)

This age is all about expression, when kids really start to form their own ideas
about what they want to play and how they want to create. Every day in our
preschool classroom, your child will explore science experiments, create
artwork, and play pretend—all the skills needed for their big next step:
kindergarten!

Prekindergarten Programs (4–5 Years)

When you walk into one of our pre-K classrooms, you’ll see artwork and
writing displayed around the room. Labels are everywhere to help kids connect
letters with words. You’ll also see pictures on the walls that reflect the families
in our community. Your child will also deepen their knowledge in language,
math, science, Spanish, and social skills.

Before- and After-School Programs (5–12 Years)

You can count on us to provide reliable care for your school-ager while you’re
at work, with safe transportation from our center to your child’s school and
back! Whether your child wants to start a drama club, build a volcano, or
create a comic book, they will have a place to follow their dreams. Your child
will start and end the day with a whole lot of fun!

School Break Programs (preschool, prekindergarten, and school-age)

Winter break, spring break, summer break—when school’s out (but you still need to work), you
can count on KinderCare to provide a safe and supportive learning environment that’s focused
on fun. We welcome children ages 5–12 during school break times and make sure they have a
sensational, screen-free experience they won’t forget.

Participating Child Care Aware Center

KinderCare partners with Child Care Aware® of America to offer fee assistance for
Active Duty military families and flexible support to fit their needs when care at a Child
Development Center on the installation is not available.

Learning Adventures – Enrichment Program

Cooking Academy™ (3 – 12 Years)

In Cooking Academy, kids learn new recipes from cultures around the world and
develop a healthy relationship with food. They’ll whip up everything from Southwest
rainbow lettuce wraps to pumpkin muffins, building their skills in STEM, communication,
and more along the way. And yes—little chefs get to eat their culinary creations!

Music Explorers™ (2 – 4 Years)

KinderCare families are already giving a standing ovation to our newest Learning
Adventures program: Music Explorers! Kids will learn to sing, move, listen, play
instruments, and even create their own tunes. Our original curriculum blends math,
science, social studies, literacy, and mindfulness (think yoga!) for a uniquely KinderCare
way of learning the foundations of music.

Phonics Adventures® (2 – 4 Years)

Learning how to read is a whole lot of fun at KinderCare! We help kids grow to love
books and words (and get ready for kindergarten) in our Phonics Adventures program.
From discovering the basics of vowels to practicing poetry, kids learn all about letters
and sounds in small-group lessons made just for their age group. (Bonus: Kids who
attend our phonics program are more prepared than their peers for school—and we
have the data to prove it.)

Our Teachers

We’re the only company in early childhood education to select teachers based on natural talent. Being a great educator isn’t enough though.
KinderCare teachers are also amazing listeners, nurturers, boo-boo fixers, and smile-makers. Put more simply,
we love our teachers and your child will, too.

Meet just a few of our amazing KinderCare teachers!

A KINDERCARE TEACHER WITH

An Artist’s Heart

“My classroom is full of art!” says Mary Annthipie-Bane, an award-winning early childhood educator at KinderCare. Art and creative expression, she says, help children discover who they really are.

We put our best-in-class teachers in a best-in-class workplace. We’re so proud to have been named one of Gallup’s 37 winners of the Great Workplace Award.
When you put great teachers in an engaging center, your children will experience
an amazing place to learn and grow.

Family Stories

Don’t take our word for it. Hear what our families have to say about our amazing center!

  • We’re relatively new to Monona KinderCare, but I’ve found the staff to be incredibly patient and very much concerned with the well-being of my son. I wasn’t sure what to expect with a larger center, but really have been pleasantly surprised. The food is homemade, the outdoor play area is awesome, and the caregivers are attentive and care about what we want as a family, not what they think we need. It’s been a very positive experience for us!

    K.S. – KinderCare Parent
  • I appreciate the consistency provided by the Monona KinderCare staff. I can count on seeing familiar, caring faces and know that the staff works hard to build trusting relationships with both the children and their families. Both of my children attended Monona KinderCare, and I would recommend them to anyone looking for consistent quality child care.

    E.F. – KinderCare Parent
  • My two daughters have attended Monona KinderCare for three years now. I have been very pleased with KinderCare for many reasons. My girls absolutely love the teachers and staff. Teachers keep you informed on the positives of how your child is doing and if there are any concerns. The flexible hours are important for my work schedule and you can tell the staff take a genuine interest in each child. Its important to me that there is an indoor gym so the kids can get exercise even when weather doesn’t permit them to go outside, and comforting that the gym is in a basement in the case of a tornado.  I would strongly recommend KinderCare to anyone.

    S.M. – KinderCare Parent
  • Monona KinderCare has provided my children meaningful curriculum to nurture their academic growth, a warm and caring environment to foster their social relationships and maturation, and friendly staff who provide a positive learning atmosphere for all ages. My children began in the Infant Classroom and have progressed through all age groups, including the school-age care. I know when I drop off my children their day will be filled with learning, plentiful activities, and fun. I would recommend this center for children of any age.

    Tamra D. – KinderCare Parent
  • When we were first looking into daycares for our son, who is also our very first child, we were focusing on in-home daycares. After months of searching, we decided to look into some centers for comparisons, and I am so glad we did! From the moment I walked in the door at KinderCare Monona, I knew that the more of the center I saw and the more staff members I met, I became more and more sure of my decision. Everyone is so nice and friendly, but still very professional, and the center is always very clean. I really like our son’s teachers as well, which makes it that much easier to drop him off in the mornings. I highly recommend this center!

Advisory fuel rates – GOV.UK

When you can use the mileage rates

These rates only apply to employees using a company car.

Use the rates when you either:

  • reimburse employees for business travel in their company cars
  • need employees to repay the cost of fuel used for private travel

You must not use these rates in any other circumstances.

Reimburse employees for company car business travel

If the mileage rate you pay is no higher than the advisory fuel rates for the engine size and fuel type of the company car, there will be no taxable profit and no Class 1A National Insurance to pay.

If your cars are more fuel efficient, or if the cost of business travel is higher than the guideline rates, you can use your own rates to reflect your situation.

If you pay rates that are higher than the advisory rates but cannot show the fuel cost per mile is higher, there will be no fuel benefit charge if the mileage payments are only for business travel. Instead, you’ll have to treat any excess as taxable profit and as earnings for Class 1 National Insurance purposes.

Employees to repay the cost of fuel used for private travel

There will be no fuel benefit charge if you correctly record all private travel mileage and use the correct rate (or higher), to work out how much your employees must repay you for fuel used for private travel.

You will not need to use the advisory rates where you can show that employees cover the full cost of private fuel by repaying at a lower mileage rate.

How rates are calculated

HMRC review rates quarterly on:

  • 1 March
  • 1 June
  • 1 September
  • 1 December

The mean miles per gallon (MPG) is taken from manufacturers’ information, taking into account annual sales to businesses (Fleet Audits average 2019 to 2021).

For liquefied petroleum gas (LPG), the MPG used is 20% lower than for petrol due to lower volumetric energy density.

The ‘rates per mile’ calculated in these tables are shown rounded to one decimal place, but the final advisory fuel rates are rounded to the nearest whole penny.

Rates per mile which end in 0.5 are rounded down to the nearest whole penny for the advisory fuel rate when the underlying unrounded figure ends in a number less than 0.5 (for example 0.487).

When the underlying unrounded figure ends in a number greater than 0.5 (for example 0.513) it is rounded up to the nearest whole penny.

The latest petrol and diesel prices are taken from the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy and the LPG (UK average) is from the Automobile Association website.

The advisory electric rate for fully electric cars is calculated using electrical price data from:

  • Department for Business, Energy & Industrial Strategy
  • Office for National Statistics
  • electrical consumption rates from the Department for Transport

It takes into account annual sales to businesses (Fleet Audits average 2019 to 2021).

The advisory fuel rates are worked out from the fuel prices in these tables.

Does Your Company Have a Healthy Employee Turnover Rate?

Employee turnover is a natural part of any business. Contracts come to an end, employees move on, and you hire new people to replace them.

Ideally, you would like to keep your attrition rate as low as possible. Employee turnover has multiple associated costs, such as severance pay, loss in productivity, and the cost of recruiting and training a new hire.  The total expense is a minimum of 33% of the outgoing employee’s salary. That can rise to 200% if you’re replacing a highly specialized staff member.

The Great Resignation saw a surge in quit rates, and turnover has stayed high ever since. At the end of 2022, the Bureau of Labor Statistics reported a national monthly quit rate of 2.7%, or over 4 million people.

Some industries are hit harder than others, so the important question for most employers is whether your current company turnover rate is healthy and sustainable.

How to calculate employee turnover rate

Your turnover rate is the number of employee separations by the average number of employees over a defined period of time, expressed as a percentage.

You can work it out using three figures:

  • S = Total employees at the start of the period
  • E = Total employees at the end of the period
  • Q = Number of employees separated during the period

This formula gives your turnover rate:

For example, say you start the year with 100 employees, and you finish with 102 employees. During that year, 10 employees separated from the business. Your annual turnover rate is given as:

So, now you have a percentage. But this doesn’t mean much without context.

What is a healthy employee turnover rate?

A study by ADP shows that the average monthly turnover rate across all sectors is 3.2%, or approximately 38.4% per year.

But averages don’t tell the whole story. To understand your performance as an employer, you need to look at the various factors that contribute to data:

  • Industry benchmarking: Every industry has a different average attrition rate. Retail, hospitality, and customer service all have a high employee churn rate; medicine, accounting and government positions are much more stable. You can see an industry breakdown on the Bureau of Labor Statistics website.
  • Age: Age is the biggest factor in employee turnover.  ADP’s study shows that workers under 26 are five times more likely to resign voluntarily than workers aged 56-65.
  • Tenure: Most separations – whether voluntary or involuntary – tend to happen in the first year of the employee’s contract. Therefore, companies with tenured employees should see a lower turnover rate than a business with lots of recent hires.
  • Demographics: Race, gender and other demographic details should not impact your retention rates. However, if there is an unusual turnover rate within a particular group, it may indicate that you have a cultural issue.
  • Voluntary vs.  involuntaryThese figures tell two very different stories. Voluntary turnover is related to your performance as an employer; involuntary turnover reflects your hiring practices and demand planning.

Once you start to break down your employee turnover rate, you’ll begin to see narratives emerging, such as:

  • High turnover rates of tenured employees or skilled workers – Your total rewards package may no longer be competitive. If you’re not taking care of your best talent, recruiters or headhunters from rival companies will lure them away.
  • High turnover of minority groups – Members of those groups may feel that your office culture isn’t inclusive, perhaps even hostile or unwelcoming. It’s so important to get to the root of why certain demographic groups don’t feel comfortable in your team. It’s also essential to ask why your human resources processes aren’t identifying and resolving any problems.
  • Low turnover of younger employees – This may indicate that younger workers feel they have promising job prospects with your company, which means your professional development planning is successful. Keep looking for new opportunities to retain emerging talent.
  • High rate of voluntary separation – First, establish whether you’re in line with the national quit rates for comparable jobs. If not, then ask why people are leaving. Do they report low levels of employee engagement? Or because there are better opportunities elsewhere?
  • High rate of involuntary separation – This indicates a problem somewhere in your staffing plans. If you’re releasing people because you don’t need them, you need to review your demand planning. If you’re letting people go because they don’t meet expectations, it’s time to examine your hiring, training and onboarding processes.

A healthy employee turnover rate is whatever best suits your business. You might expect a low rate in some departments and a high rate in others. The important thing is to understand why people leave, and whether there’s anything you can do to make talented employees stay longer.

How to improve your turnover rate

Turnover is a result of many factors, but reducing turnover comes down to one thing: listening to your employees’ needs.

Here are some things you can do to bring down a high employee turnover rate.

  1. Make sure your total rewards package is competitive. If you can’t compete on salary, look at offering additional employee benefits, recognitions, work-life balance, and development opportunities.
  2. Use professional development as a retention tool. Career development plans show that you have a long-term commitment to the employee. In return, they’ll make a long-term commitment to you as they proceed along their career path.
  3. Perform exit interviews. Every time someone leaves, take a moment to ask them about their experience. This data is vital for your retention strategy.
  4. Promote a positive culture.  Around half of people say that company culture is more important than salary. Work to promote a workplace culture that’s collaborative, trusting, and inclusive.
  5. Make your people part of your mission. Employees want a sense of purpose when they work. Share your vision with them, and help them understand why they’re an essential part of the strategy.
  6. Get your recruiting and onboarding right. The best way to reduce turnover is to hire the right people. Find candidates who are a good fit, and offer new employees a world-class onboarding experience.
  7. Promote a work-life balance. Burnout is often a contributing factor to why employees leave, especially since the pandemic. Offer mental health support through your Employee Assistance Program, and consider offering remote working and flexible hours.

While employee turnover is an unavoidable fact of life, most people would rather remain in their current role than look for a new job. If you can address their concerns – whether that’s salary, culture, workload, professional development, or something else – they’re likely to stay.

Maintaining a healthy turnover rate

Employee turnover is bad for your bottom line, especially if you lose high-performing employees. Not only will you have increased turnover costs, but you’ll find yourself battling in the recruitment market for top talent.

If you’re facing a high staff turnover rate, you may need to rethink your employee engagement and retention strategy from the ground up.

The good news is: you don’t have to do it alone. Book a no-obligation consultation call with Helios HR today and find out how you can hold onto your top performers.

Business valuation: methods and approaches

Business is not only the process of producing goods and services and making a profit, it is also a product on the market, so business valuation is of great importance. Read in what cases it is required, what assessment methods are available and to whom it can be trusted.

Key concepts of business valuation

When valuing a business, we analyze what it will bring in the future, but as it is at the time of valuation. The assessment does not imply any additional investments, other investments or conditions, we proceed only from the current state and efficiency of assets, an assessment of the capacity and dynamics of the market.

We also need to consider the time value of money. The amounts in the accounts today are of greater value than the same amounts in a year, and the amounts in a year are more valuable than the same amounts in two years. This is not only a matter of inflation, but also of preferences – a person always wants to have and own here and now, and not tomorrow and somewhere far away. The time value of money is included in the valuation in the discount rate.

The assessment is based on the assumption of the best, that is, the most efficient use of business assets.

Risks

In reality, all the assumptions and estimates made may be erroneous and not accurate. We do not have all the information that is required for decision making, even with the use of powerful computer simulation tools currently available. Therefore, analysts must take into account the risks: either using a scenario approach, or by adjusting the discount rate.

We evaluate the business on the assumption that it will work indefinitely, it is stable, but we can predict its dynamics for a relatively short period.

When is business valuation required? Let’s consider them further.

Valuation for the purpose of sale

We first value a business when we intend to sell it – in whole or in part. For example, the sale of a company as a whole, the sale of a block of shares or a share, the sale of a separate division, branch, an enterprise from a holding, a production site. This task also includes IPO – the initial public offering on the stock market, ICO – the initial public offering of tokens in the blockchain economy.

An appraisal of the market value of the business is required by both the buyer and the seller. Only one needs a lower estimate – and he will be extremely pessimistic in assessing business prospects, striving to worsen the prerequisites. And the other needs to inflate the estimate, using the most optimistic forecasts, the largest available coefficients. Both parties treat this situation with understanding and, using each of their assessments, move towards a compromise, which will become the price of the transaction as a result.

Valuation when raising funds in an existing business

The need for valuation also appears in the case of raising funds – a loan, credit, issue of bonds, when valuation of a business, its shares, shares as an object of collateral, guarantees to ensure the return of borrowed funds is required.

The value of the company is the main criterion for the success of management and the growth of the welfare of the owners

Business valuation as a criterion for its effectiveness

The modern approach focuses on the value of the company as the main criterion for the success of the management and the growth of the welfare of the owners. The capitalization of the company and the dynamics of this indicator speak about the prospects of the business more than dividend payments to the owner. In developed financial markets, owners earn their income by trading shares or by taking profits by selling the business to a strategic investor at a profit, rather than taking money out of the business. Therefore, for the owners, the value of the company is an important indicator that they set as a criterion for the work and motivation of management, and require regular calculation and justification of this indicator to control their assets. In this case, the business valuation methodology is developed, agreed with the owner and management, and then regulated for use over a long time horizon in order to receive regularly transparent and comparable estimates.

Start-up valuation

Business valuation stands apart in the case of a startup. Its purpose is to estimate the cost for the distribution of shares in the company between the founder and the first investor. The assessment is based on the assumption that by the time the project exits, the startup will bring at least some target profit value. And the company valued on the basis of this profit can be sold to a strategic investor or enter an IPO, which will bring a multiple return on invested capital to the investor. In this case, the assessment is made on hypothetical constructions for a business that did not yet exist, did not work and did not bring not only profit, but often even revenue.

Business valuation methods

There are several methods of business valuation, but they all fit into three main groups:

  1. Comparative.
  2. Profitable.
  3. Expensive.
Comparative methods

This group of methods is more correctly called market methods, since they are based on information about transactions that have already taken place with similar companies or with shares on the stock market.

In the case of transactions with companies, several transactions are selected with businesses that are as similar as possible to the one being evaluated, for which the purchase price of the whole company or a controlling stake or share is known. Then they study the state of the company on the eve of the transaction with two goals:

  • the first is a comparison of the target and the selected company in terms of financial and production indicators in order to assess the comparability of the companies and justify the choice of this company as an analogue;
  • the second is the calculation of multiples: price / profit, price / cash flow, price / book value, depending on the available data.

Using the calculated multipliers for each analogue company, we estimate the cost of the target company’s business in the range from minimum to maximum. To get one value, calculate the average value or choose the closest analogue and evaluate only on it.

This method evaluates the acquisition of a controlling stake or 100% of private, non-listed companies.

When using the current market price of a share on the stock market as a price target, we also calculate multiples either per share or on the total value of the company if we know the number or proportion of shares traded on the market (free float). These multipliers are already applied to our base (net profit, revenue, etc.) and we get an estimate based on stock market data.

A well-known variant of the comparative approach is the method of industry coefficients – if there is objective data on a large number of business purchase and sale transactions in a particular industry, it is possible to calculate value indicators for typical transactions and use them subsequently for evaluation. Thus, it is possible to evaluate small and medium-sized businesses, but, unfortunately, in Russia there is very little information available on completed transactions.

The business value estimated by these methods must be adjusted (reduced) by the value of the enterprise’s liabilities. At the same time, it is first necessary to study the obligations of the used analogue enterprise and how they were taken into account when calculating the cost.

Income valuation methods are based on forecasting income from the business being valued in the future

Income valuation methods of the company’s business

This group of methods is based on forecasting income from the business being valued in the future.

If a company has a stable income for 3–5 years and its value is N on average, then such a company can be valued using the formula:

V = N / R,

value of the rate of return on investments. It can also be the rate of return on investments in alternative assets.

This method is called the capitalization method.

In most cases, a stable income over a 3-5 year horizon cannot be achieved, so you can use income data for the last year, taking into account the likelihood of changes in returns in the future.

Another option for solving this problem is to build a financial model taking into account the time and risk factor – the discounted cash flow method.

As part of the method, a financial model of cash flow is built (close to the form of a cash flow statement) for the forecast period, that is, such a period during which we are able to plan or predict cash flows. At the same time, at the end of the forecast period, we assume stabilization of cash flows.

The key point is the choice of discount rate, which determines the time value of cash flows and must take into account the risks and opportunity returns of assets.

As a result, the value of the business by this method is determined by the formula:

V = ∑CFn / (1+r) n + TV,

where CFn are the total cash flows for each forecast period from the first to the last,

r is the discount rate,

n is the number of the corresponding period.

TV is the terminal value of the business, determined by the Gordon formula if the business continues to operate. If the liquidation of the business is envisaged, the terminal value is calculated as the liquidation value, and if the sale is envisaged, as the net asset value.

Similar to the comparative methods, the value of the business, estimated by income methods, must also be adjusted (reduced) by the amount of the enterprise’s debt.

When using the salvage value method, the business is considered as a set of assets that should be sold as soon as possible in order to pay off obligations

Cost methods

The main idea of this group of methods is to estimate how much money an investor would need to recreate the same business. This amount is the value of the business and the investor should not spend more than this amount when acquiring.

The total value of a company can be measured as the value of all assets minus all liabilities. This is the so-called net asset method.

However, it is not advisable to use the book value of assets in the valuation, they should be revalued and brought into line with market prices, then the valuation by the net asset method will better correspond to the real value of the company in accordance with the concept of this approach.

Another business valuation method in this group is the salvage value method. In this case, the business is viewed as a set of assets that should be sold as soon as possible in order to pay off obligations. Then the value of the assets, determined by the net assets method described above, is adjusted for the discount (to speed up the sale) and for the costs of advertising the assets being sold.

A few words about a loss-making business and its valuation

A business can be unprofitable for various reasons:

  • due to market conditions in the current period and this is a temporary phenomenon, which will return to a positive profit zone with a change in the “wind” on the market;
  • due to strategic management decisions, for example, the company seeks to capture market share and allows operating losses, using the previously accumulated financial “airbag” for its development;
  • as a result of management errors that can no longer be corrected and we are talking about bankruptcy.

If we are talking about a temporary phenomenon and in the future financial flows will go into a positive zone, the discounted cash flow method, which is based on the expected results of future periods, is the most reasonable for such a business.

But if we are talking about permanent unprofitability, then the value of such a business is the sum of the value of assets minus liabilities, in accordance with the net asset method.

In most cases, business valuation is best left to professionals

Do it yourself or with the help of professionals

Is it better to make an assessment on your own or contact a specialized company? In most cases, the answer to this question will be to turn to professionals. Firstly, for many tasks facing the appraisal, a document is required from an independent appraiser who is a member of a self-regulatory organization of appraisers and who has insured his liability. It is impossible to make such an assessment on your own.

Second, professional appraisers on staff are expensive. The company does not need specialists with such qualifications on a permanent basis, they need to have a specialized education and improve their qualifications at least once every three years in order to confirm their professional level.

If an appraisal is required for internal purposes, for example, you need to calculate the value of a business as a management KPI indicator for owners, then, of course, a professional appraiser is not needed, it is required. Then the assessment of this indicator can be made by a qualified specialist in the financial unit of the company.

Business valuation is an art or branch of knowledge that uses rigorous mathematical methods and is based on premises, assumptions, forecasts and hypotheses. Therefore, the resulting figures are only guidelines, and not a guide to action or the final price. Business valuation, especially performed by an independent professional appraiser, removes subjective factors and questions about possible manipulation of information. It would be extremely difficult to reach a final price and deal without a sound analysis, without the benchmarks provided by the valuation.

Simply put, the graduation rate, as defined by the VDOE Board of Education equals [on-time graduates in year x] divided by [(first-time entering 9th graders in year x minus 4) plus (transfers in) minus (transfers out)]:
(On-time Graduates in Year x) / [(# of 1st time entering 9th graders in year x 4) + (Transfers In) (Transfers out & deceased)]
Graduates are defined as students who earn one of the following VDOE approved diplomas:
. Advanced Studies Diploma
. Special Diploma
. Standard Diploma
. General Achievement Diploma
. Modified Standard Diploma
On-time graduates are graduates who earn diplomas within four years of the first time they entered the 9th grade. Special education students and limited English students who have plans in place that allow them more time to graduate will be counted as graduates or non-graduates when they earn a diploma or otherwise exit high school. Deceased students will be counted as transfers out and incarcerated students will be counted as transfers as they leave and re-enter the system.

When a good school is closer than close to home

When choosing a school, parents evaluate the quality of education and the number of students. Parents who are accustomed to investing in the development of their child are even ready to take a first-grader to a prestigious institution on the other side of the city. So what to choose, a good school or a school close to home.

  • Text Link

Usually moms and dads make inquiries about well-known schools and admission conditions in advance, they learn something about the school “in the yard”, as a rule, very mediocre. If you are not satisfied with the level of teaching in a residential school and decide to spend 2-3 hours a day on the road, consider other differences.

Advantages of an ordinary school close to home

  • A student will have time to run to a regular school by registration, even if he overslept. True, mom will help you get ready, and you will have to take breakfast with you.
  • In a simpler school, they don’t ask so much, which means that you can quickly get even with “homework”, go to the choir and to the pool, and then run out into the street. Yard games, first friends, football and bike riding – the main thing is to give out a simple phone, just to call.
  • When a child walks, he forms spatial representations: how far is how many minutes on foot, and if the same distance is on a bike? When the school is close, you can run home for a shift and a form for physical education – which means that parents can shift this concern to the child, give him the opportunity to grow up.

<>

Advantages of a good school or gymnasium

  • In order to be in time for the start of classes at a good school, the child will have to get up an hour and a half earlier. Even the “lark” will not be easy, because most of the school year it gets light late and gets dark early.
  • In a good school, it is more difficult to study, and more homework assignments – the child will be more tired. Additional sections and circles are also a load that cannot be abandoned.
  • Pupils of a good school or gymnasium come and go by car and are never left unattended. They do not come home themselves, do not heat up dinner and do not plan free time – it simply does not exist. There is no time to think about your own and nowhere to learn independence.

How to combine all the benefits in one school?

Are a child’s independence and recreation worth sacrificing a good education? How to create the best conditions for development and at the same time preserve its health, teach responsibility? The advantages of a prestigious gymnasium and the advantages of a school “at home” are combined by Foxford’s online home school:
  • Your child will study with professional Moscow teachers according to an individual program. We will select advanced, basic and Olympiad courses in accordance with the interests and abilities of the student.
  • Classes for each subject are held once a week – these are intensive online lessons, so the child will study less and do more.
  • Our students come from families that value quality education. Graduates are winners of the Olympiads and 100-point students of the Unified State Examination, who, even on vacation, relax wisely – in educational camps.

With Foxford, your child will get enough sleep, eat homemade food, interact with motivated schoolchildren and play with the kids in the yard. A good school may be closer than you think.

“The best school should be next to the child’s home” – Kommersant Perm

In February, Anna Demeneva, the ex-director of the Tochka design school, headed the education department of the Perm administration. Under her leadership, she twice became the leader in the rating of unique schools in Perm and entered the list of the best regional schools in Russia. In her first interview in a new status, Anna Anatolyevna spoke about which school should be the best for a child, what criteria, in her opinion, should be used to evaluate educational institutions and what pedagogical teams should strive for in order to keep children interested in learning.

BUSINESS GUIDE: Now there is a lot of talk about the fact that the traditional school model has outlived its usefulness. The traditional teacher and student are in the past. What is a modern school and what should it be, in your understanding?

Anna Demeneva : The key process that we are observing is the transition from a subject-based approach in teaching a child to the formation of a personality and competencies that will allow him to live in a rapidly changing modern world. In addition to the educational function, the role of the school in the upbringing of children comes to the fore. It is important to instill in children both state values, which are significant for the stability of the country, and the values of the family, inner harmony, and confidence in the future.

BG: School “Tochka”, which you headed for a long period, managed to achieve individualization of education. How successful are other Perm schools in this area?

A.D. : The Perm education system is distinguished by its striving for the personification of education, especially at the high school level. I think we are one of the leaders in the country according to this indicator. With us, 100% of high school students study according to individual curricula. The family and the student choose the level of study of subjects – basic, specialized and in-depth, and we create conditions for maximum consideration of the choice of the child. The most demanded profile subjects are mathematics, physics, computer science, history, social studies.

In a basic school in Perm, a model of choosing short-term trials and practices is being implemented, this helps children in self-determination and choosing a future profession. For example, at the Tochka school, about 30 different courses are provided for the child to choose from, depending on age. In 10–16 hours, a child masters educational technology and creates a children’s educational product, which can later be promoted at exhibitions and participate in competitions with it. In grades 10-11, we introduced the technology of working with partner cases, when children’s projects are implemented in the real economy. Our students created theater posters, architectural and visual solutions for specific companies and institutions. It is very important that the product created by the child is in demand. Then he understands that any knowledge has a capitalization, and this helps him achieve a certain level of quality of life.

BG: If you rank schools in Perm, which of them would you classify as top-level?

A.D. : According to the results of independent federal monitoring conducted at the end of 2020, the Perm Territory entered the top 10 regions with the highest quality of education. This is a very convincing result. The city used to be proud of those schools that work in the paradigm of specialized, in-depth education, work with gifted children. These schools are famous. According to the results of the RAEKS-Analytics rating, school No. 146 and gymnasium No. 17 of Perm were included in the list of the hundred best schools in Russia in terms of the competitiveness of graduates.

However, in my opinion, there are other, less tangible, but no less important grounds for evaluating schools. For example, how a school creates social well-being, raises a child, works on inclusive programs. In education, there cannot be one priority – a qualitative objective result. There are many aspects. Such as the number of people in the class, how physical education is going on and whether there are additional sports activities, how spacious the rooms are, how seriously the school takes the child’s health. It is important whether a good psychologist works at the school, how warm the relationship between children is, how friendly the teachers are.

There is no ideal school. Each has its own advantages. I want each school to stand out from the rest in some way. And my main goal is to make the school, which is located next to the child’s home, the best.

BG : Not so long ago, there was a discussion in the urban community of Perm about the availability of “top” schools. How acute is the issue of selection to top-level schools today? And can such a selection be carried out at all, in your opinion?

A.D. : There are schools that run deep learning programs and there are general education schools. For advanced level programs, in accordance with federal regulations, we must select, but not earlier than from the fifth grade. The controversy today is that children who live in a house next to a school that has an immersive learning program are not able to attend. We must build such an educational policy in the city that a variety of primary education programs become universally available to every child in any school. At the same time, we must ensure that the child in the fifth-seventh grades can go to the program of in-depth study of subjects. To this end, for the second year in Perm we have been implementing the project “I choose a school”. From April 20 to May 16, 22 schools in the city hold an additional admission to the fifth-seventh grades for a total of 640 places. The application for admission can be filled out electronically on the website Ichooseschool.rf.

I came to the department with the idea of personifying education in general, and in elementary school as well. In my opinion, the junior level should not have one educational program, as it is now, but several, so that families can choose which one to follow. As well as the possibility of network interaction between schools and cultural and sports institutions of the city, in the process of which new projects could be born.

BG: Does this project involve the voluntary participation of each school, or will it be mandatory for everyone?

A. D. : I clearly adhere to the understanding that each school is autonomous and independent in choosing an educational policy within the framework of federal standards. On the other hand, there are municipal policies that offer opportunities that the school, at its discretion, can take advantage of or not.

BG: Have you already decided on the directions that you can offer schools to choose from?

A.D. : We have already initiated a project to renovate primary schools in terms of the continuity of preschool and primary school education. Younger students should be given the opportunity to choose additional courses, in which they showed interest in kindergarten. In addition, we are talking about the need to revise approaches to assessing schools. It is impossible to evaluate schools by the average result, because they work with different categories of students, fulfilling their social mission. We understand that the topic of digital transformation of the school will not bypass us.

BG: How do you assess the degree of digitalization of the educational environment in Perm?

A.D. : Schools are provided with new, modern technology in stages. In 2020, as part of the Digital Educational Environment national project, 29 schools out of 100 in Perm received new digital equipment: multifunctional devices, interactive panels, and laptops. With the support of the regional budget, the kindergartens of the city – not only newly built, but also already functioning – are being equipped with interactive digital equipment.

The pandemic has put us in front of the inevitability of urgently, literally in one week, to switch to a digital learning format. I believe that Perm teachers adequately coped with this emergency, in fact, the situation. All schools organized online education for children.

The digital transformation of a school is a complex process. One of its most important aspects is the release of the teacher from routine work. We are already introducing mechanisms for automated verification of student work, simulators with the integration of final results. It is very important that the teacher can choose the content and build a modern interactive lesson that is interesting for children.

I think that with the help of digitalization, the task of reporting can be solved, which is part of any management system, including education. We could make decisions based not only on intuition and expert experience, but also on an array of big data. This would be a huge help.

I will not hide the fact that, despite the prospects that the digitalization process opens up for us, many are still frightened by it. I am sure that there is no threat to the teacher in it. Man can never be completely replaced by automated systems. By the way, children use numbers more easily, and are our first helpers in this matter.

BG: Summing up the year of living with covid, what do you think should be the optimal balance of offline and online technologies in the learning process?

A. D. : It is important for me that every teacher and every head of the school finds an organic balance. The measure of digitalization should come from a specific person. I understand for sure that with digital we become more effective and interesting for children.

BG: The teachers of my eighth grade son feel that distance learning has reduced the quality of education. It was hard for everyone, and at some point the children, in their opinion, ceased to be included in the educational process. Are there general indicators that can be used to evaluate the quality of education over the past year?

A.D. : The results of the final assessment have not changed. Let me give you an example of the experience of the school, which I led. To build a distance learning system at Tochka, we studied the experience of several Moscow schools that switched to online mode earlier and tried to take into account the best practices. It was a kind of adventure, a journey into the future, if you like. And it was very difficult for every teacher, because it required the development of competencies and material. The teachers had a lot of anxiety, not everyone had sufficient technical equipment at home. However, in the end, thanks to the effective organization of the process, the quality, it seems to me, did not suffer.

BG: Please draw a portrait of an average Perm teacher.

A.D. : Perm teachers are very different. If we talk about the ideal image, then the Perm teacher is dynamic, ambitious, creative and open to innovation, a strong professional. I want to say that we have many such teachers, and their number is constantly growing. The average age of a Perm teacher is 44 years. This is a good period for the fruitful development of new things. Of course, I would like to see more men working in the industry. Now their share is about 10% of the total number. But this alignment is typical for the country as a whole.

The high quality of education in Perm is provided by the teachers of the region. The city has a very high competition for class teachers.

BG: Does this mean that there are many vacancies on the market and few resumes?

A.D. : No, we are talking about the fact that the best school teachers are fighting for, offering them not only higher salaries, but also attracting them with the prospect of working in a friendly value environment, with high-quality workplace equipment.

For me personally, it is important that a teacher can instill in a child a love for his city. Today, the problem is that talented children are leaving Perm. Our task is not only to provide a quality education, but also to show children the possibilities of how to successfully realize themselves in their city and be happy.

BG: Anna Anatolyevna, what model of education do you think is the best – Russian, Finnish, British, other?

A.D. : I’m a fan of variety. I do not see the only correct model of training. I see the sustainable development of the education system based on the initiatives of collectives and teachers.

At Gingerbread Play House children enjoy both freedom and structure in a daily rhythm that encourages learning, exploration and imaginative play in a cozy home setting.  Our engaging play house is beautiful, joyful, print-rich and filled with bustling play, open-ended materials, STREAM activities, sensory play, process art and outdoor play.  My goal is to help children forge a life-long love of learning while they have fun with their peers.  A focus on social and life skills helps prepare young children for kindergarten success!

Play is the basis of learning in all young children.   They are driven to play because they are hard-wired to learn.  Play IS the active form of learning.  Young children construct their own knowledge through their own hands-on, self-directed exploration and through interaction with materials and people.  Young children need to experience the joy of satisfying their natural curiosity in ways that they themselves choose.  They need opportunities to follow their own interests and try many new things on their own without fear of failure.  Spontaneous, self-paced, child-led play combined with engaging preschool activities provides the ideal environment for children’s learning.  Play unites the child’s mind, body and spirit!

“Gingerbread Play House is a magical place!  Mrs. Leisha makes every day a fun-filled learning adventure.”
– Michelle Ramarge (mother & first grade teacher at Orchard Grove)

Would you like to buy a house in the Krasnaya Polyana area? In this case, pay attention to the cottage village “Gingerbread Houses”, which is located in the central part of the mountain resort on Pereselencheskaya Street. Buying real estate here is not only a way to make your life comfortable, it is also a very profitable investment in your worthy future. We will reveal the details below!
The main advantages of KP “Gingerbread Houses”
Real estate in Sochi is growing in price every quarter. This is especially true for resort areas, which is Krasnaya Polyana. Having bought a house today, if necessary, you can sell it much more expensive.
In addition, during the season it is very profitable to rent out housing. At home, especially. During the New Year holidays, the price of rented housing here can reach 50 tr. per day. The benefits of such an investment are obvious!
This village is represented by 6 cottages, united by a common adjacent territory. At the entrance to the territory there is parking for cars, and near each house there is a recreation area. The borders of the territory of the village are marked with a fence.
The architectural solution is made in the best traditions of the chalet style, which is distinguished by simplicity and charm. It ideally fits into the general ensemble of the area’s development and is in perfect harmony with the natural landscape.
The planning solution inside the houses is thought out and executed in the most profitable way. Each cottage has two bedrooms, a large balcony, a kitchen combined with a living room, a spacious terrace and an entrance hall with a bathroom.
Location and infrastructure
The village is literally across the road from the Gorki Gorod resort. Within walking distance from its territory there really is everything that you may need for a comfortable life: shops, pharmacies, cafes, bars, restaurants and much more.
A wide range of entertainment is another huge plus. In summer, you can ride bicycles, walk along mountain paths, and swim in the lakes. In winter, skiing and snowboarding.
Good transport accessibility and the proximity of the new highway allows you to quickly get to Adler or the center of Sochi.

Tennessee Landmarks

Tennessee Landmarks

Elvis Presley’s Graceland Estate is Tennessee’s top tourist attraction.

Tours of this cozy home provide a unique glimpse into the life of the king, as nothing has changed since his funeral in 1977. Undoubtedly the most famous rock ‘n’ roll residence in the world, Graceland remains a place of pilgrimage for the king’s fans from all over the world. Highlights of the Graceland tour include: a visit to the family tomb, an impressive collection of the king’s cars, two aircraft belonging to Elvis Presley, costumes, souvenirs and gifts given to Elvis during performances, a music room, a TV room and much more.

2. Andrew Jackson House (The Hermitage)

Just a few miles east of Nashville is the Hermitage, the former home of Andrew Jackson, the seventh President of the United States, in which he lived after his retirement in 1837 to 1845. Built in 1819 and rebuilt in 1834, this is a typical example of Tennessee architecture. This magnificent mansion has housed the Andrew Jackson Museum since 1889. During a tour of the mansion, you will be able to see absolutely authentic 18th-century furnishings, furniture, household items, documents and personal belongings of Andrew Jackson. After visiting the Hermitage, you can walk through the beautiful park and visit the graves of Jackson and his wife, Rachel, in the Tulip Grove.

One of the main battles of the Civil War in the United States, the so-called second battle of Franklin or the battle of Franklin, was played out. Even today, the Carter house bears the scars of a thousand bullets. The house itself is notable for its original and antique furniture and now houses a museum of Civil War relics.

The Carter House was purchased by the State of Tennessee in 1951 and first opened to the public in 1953. The museum is dedicated to the battle of Franklin, the Carter family, and all Americans who fought in the Civil War.

-Mountains, on the slopes of which there is a natural park created in the distant 1934, and with over 9 million visits a year, this is the most visited national park in the United States.

It has one of the most diverse ecosystems in North America, and the spruce-fir forest that covers it is the largest of its kind.

The best place to start a tour of the natural beauty of the park is the small town of Gatlinburg, which, unlike most faceless small American towns, has quite interesting alpine architecture.

5. The City of Gallatin

A 40-minute drive northeast of Nashville is the small town of Gallatin, founded in 1802 and named after Secretary of the Treasury under Presidents John Adams and Thomas Jefferson – Albert Gallatin. The town boasts a quaint central square and many pleasant shady streets. The landmark of the city is the oldest mansion in Tennessee, a tour of which is possible only by appointment. This beautiful two-story brick home built in 1813 is listed on the US National Register of Historic Places. Inside the mansion, you’ll see exquisite period furniture and a library that boasts a collection of Confederate-era books and documents. On the same property is the Sumner County Museum, with its collection of over 250,000 artifacts, including fossils, Native American artifacts, and antique toys.

6. Murfreesboro

Murfreesboro is located 50 minutes southwest of Nashville and was the state capital of Tennessee from 1818 to 1826, but soon lost the right to remain council capital in the vote by one vote. Highlights of a tour of this historic town is the Rutherford County Courthouse, famous for being the site of an attack by Confederate troops on Union soldiers, which now houses the historic Italianate House Museum built in 1815. A pioneer village with reconstructed houses, a blacksmith shop, shops, saloons and a school. Old Murfreesboro City Hall and superb city park.

7. The Parthenon

No tour of Nashville is complete without visiting one of Tennessee’s most remarkable sights, the massive Parthenon. The Parthenon is built in the central park, just a few minutes walk from the city center, it is fully consistent with the original Parthenon in Athens, Greece. It was erected in honor of the centenary of the state in 1897. Made entirely of concrete, the Parthenon impresses with its sheer size, both inside and out.

8. The American Museum of Science and Energy at Oak Ridge

The American Museum of Science and Energy at Oak Ridge offers a fascinating insight into the history of nuclear energy. Highlights include a story about Oak Ridge’s role in developing the Manhattan Project’s atomic bomb, including videos, photographs, artifacts and documents that help paint a picture of this once vast facility. Other exhibitions are dedicated to national defense and include models of weapons, tools and protective clothing used in nuclear facilities.

9. Knoxville

Another Tennessee attraction is Knoxville, about 3 hours from the state capital, Shackville. Knoxville is best known for the University of Tennessee. Founded in 1794, the university is famous for its campus and magnificent gardens, which are open for tours from sunrise to sunset. Due to its location, it’s easy to explore the rest of the city of Knoxville after university. The observation tower with a superb view of the county is worth highlighting, the Confederate Memorial Hall, used in 1863 as the headquarters of the Confederates during the siege of the city, the East Museum of the Tennessee Historical Society and the wonderful market square are worth a visit.

Plymouth KinderCare Programs

Kindergarten Programs (5–6 Years)

Welcome to kindergarten: the gateway to grade school and everything that
comes next! Offered in select centers, our kindergarten programs have small
class sizes and curriculums that mix learning and fun. The basic building
blocks of reading, writing, math, and science are key in kindergarten, so we
make sure they get lots of practice in all of these areas.

Interactive Kindergarten (5–6 Years)

Kindergarten is a critical year for young learners. Experienced KinderCare teachers will
tap into your child’s natural curiosity to help get them even more prepared for
elementary school. Our engaging lessons make the most of current technology while
offering plenty of hands-on play and exploration.

STEM Innovators (3-8 Years)

You’ve probably heard a lot about how important STEM education is for your child, but
what does that really mean? Our STEM Innovators program takes kids’ natural ability to
make sense of the world and applies it to robotics, chemistry, coding, geology, and
more. While your child experiments, they’ll discover how to use technology to do
amazing things!

Karate

  • We have been at the Plymouth KinderCare for four and a half beautiful, memory-filled years. I chose this center initially because of the location to our home but after meeting Stephanie, the staff and teachers I knew that I had found a place where my daughter would grow and thrive. From potty training to painting and boo-boos to baking the teachers and staff have always done everything they can to make every day a beautiful day where learning is fun. I love that I can walk into any classroom at any time and no matter what, the teachers are encouraging kids to use their imagination, seek knowledge, and just plain have fun. As parents we want to be involved in every aspect of our children’s development so the teachers encourage parents to get involved in any activities that are going on in the class. We had a great time with Mrs. Donna and my daughter’s kindergarten class baking cookies and talking about holiday traditions in Italy last December. Every day that I dropped my daughter off I left knowing that the people she was with value her education as much as I do. When I first read this quote I thought to myself this is the most succinct description of the teachers at KinderCare in Plymouth: “It is the supreme art of the teacher to awaken joy in creative expression and knowledge. ” –Albert Einstein

    Lauren P. – KinderCare Parent
  • My son goes to the Kinder Care in Plymouth Ma on pilgrim hill. Our director Stephanie and assistant director Jessica make the experience excellent. I feel safe going to work and I know my son is constantly learning. When problems of any kind spring up the team I mentioned come up with solutions and ways to work to avoid them in the future. I would recommend this center to any of my family and friends and I hope their tireless efforts do not go unnoticed!

    Thank You!

    Kevin R. H. – KinderCare Parent
  • Dear Stephanie,

I write this letter with bittersweet feelings – seeing our little Noah move from the infant room to the toddler room. While we know that Noah is ready for the change and will be in the very capable hands of Kelley, we want to commend Lisa Casey for all that she did not only for Noah but also for Abby and Jack as well.

We have had the absolute pleasure to have someone like Lisa in our lives for the last six years. Lisa is one of the kindest people I have ever met in my life. She is so genuine and caring towards the children. She gave Greg and I such comfort when we began bringing Jack in at 9 months. While Jack’s transition was difficult for him, Lisa was always a source of comfort.

With Abby, Lisa made her feel welcome right away and we still smile at the special treatment that Lisa gave her on her first birthday – “puffs” party and birthday crown surrounded by her little baby friends. The picture still hangs in our kitchen.

When we were getting ready to bring Noah in to start with Lisa, I remember her asking me about my concerns. I without hesitation laughed and told her that I had none. Just knowing that she would be there to take care of him with her loving ways was all I needed to know.

We have never worried about the care of our three children while they were under Lisa’s care. She always goes above and beyond. It is a priceless feeling to be able to leave your children in the capable hands of someone like Lisa and be able to concentrate fully on work and not worry.

We are excited for Noah to begin his ventures in Toddler and Abby to continue in Prekindergarten, but wanted to take a minutes and say a very BIG thank you to Lisa and the other teachers in Infants. We have been blessed to have had Lisa in our lives.

    Marybeth M. – KinderCare Parent
  • I just wanted to take a minute to let you know how amazing your staff is at KinderCare in Plymouth! All of the teachers go out of their way to help us and I can’t thank them enough! I could go on forever about how amazing I think everyone there is. In just over a year of being with KinderCare we have never had a problem and are always greeted by smiling faces.

    Dianna O.

    – KinderCare Parent

  • The entire KinderCare staff was absolutely amazing when it came to assisting me and my daughter with a wonderful transition. Whenever she would cry when it was time for Mommy to leave, an attentive staff member would pick her up and hold her to make her feel comfortable as I moved out of the line of vision. I enjoyed every photo that my daughter brought home with her after school, as well as knowing that my daughter was receiving a healthy snack and a wonderful education provided by a fantastic team of people. KinderCare is a wonderful, safe, friendly, and helpful center. I would recommend this center to anyone in need of exceptional childcare.

    Chine M. – KinderCare Parent
  • I just wanted to take a minute and thank you for everything! All nine years worth! I have been coming to KinderCare as long as the building has been open. I have been nothing but overjoyed with the care my children have received since day one. The quality and programming we have experienced is outstanding. We love everything that the center had to offer and will continue to refer any chance we get! Once again thank you for everything! Our hearts will always be a part of your KinderCare family.

    Lori P. – KinderCare Parent

New start

.

George, 40, from Plymouth, used a mobile phone to take pictures of herself abusing toddlers at the nursery.
She was jailed at Bristol Crown Court for an indeterminate period after admitting seven sexual assaults and six counts of making and distributing indecent pictures of children.
The mother-of-two was told she would serve a minimum of seven years.
No other staff at Little Ted’s were involved in the abuse.
A father whose children had attended Little Ted’s has said it was time to make a fresh start.
The man, who retains anonymity, said: “It had been a good part of the local community, so what happened last year was a real blow to everybody.
“We shouldn’t let our communities be ground down by people like Vanessa George.
“It’s important to rebuild.”
He admitted that the site’s history could deter parents.
“It’s a big step for any parent to take. But Vanessa George apart, it was a very good nursery.
“I would be happy to send my children to this new one,” he said.

Parents are offered flexibility in scheduling. You may schedule your children part time (as little as 2 – 1/2 days) or full time (5 full days). Parents need to enroll their children for specific days/times in advance and are responsible for payment of those days/times regardless of absence. You may not trade your scheduled days. We require advance notice in writing for any schedule change. Schedule changes are based on availability. The exception to this is “drop-in” care. Children’s Home & Aid | Scott Early Learning Center

The Scott Early Learning Center serves children (6 weeks-5 years) from families of all income levels. It uses Creative Curriculum® to enhance the physical, emotional, and cognitive growth of children through play and hands-on experiences. Social skills, self-regulation, and emotional development are just as important as reading and math readiness in successfully preparing each child for school. Each classroom individualizes lesson plans and the quarterly parent-teacher meetings allow teachers and parents to discuss their child’s development and set goals for the future. The center strives to keep parents involved through “family nights” and ongoing communication between classroom staff and parents. The Raising A Reader* Program is now available at the Center.
The Scott Early Learning Center is accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) and the Council on Accreditation of Services for Families and Children (COA). The center has also achieved and maintained the Gold Circle of Quality through ExceleRate Illinois.

Preschool for All

The center offers Pre-School for All, a free half-day instructional program based on the Creative Curriculum®, funded by the Illinois State Board of Education. The program provides instruction to 40 children aged 3-5, who are at-risk for academic failure. The 180-day preschool program runs from August-May and is integrated with the center’s full-day, full-year child care programs, comprehensively addressing the needs of at-risk children. Eligibility is determined via questionnaire and a brief developmental screening.

Early Head Start

Early Head Start (EHS) is a federally-funded, community-based program for low-income families with infants, toddlers, or pregnant women. Its mission is simple: to enhance the development of very young children, promote healthy prenatal outcomes for pregnant women, and promote healthy family functioning.

Head Start

Head Start offers educational, health, disability, mental health, nutrition and social services to children from birth to 5 years of age. Educational services are designed to meet the child’s individual interests. Learning experiences are planned to foster total growth and developmental skills. Children participate in music, art, language, literacy, dramatic play, math, science, and computer activities.

Center Highlights

•Full day child care for children aged 6 weeks old until children enter Kindergarten
• Healthy breakfasts, lunches, and snacks
• Strong parent involvement and communication
• Low child/staff ratios
• Qualified, experienced degreed teachers
• Only McLean County site accredited by both NAEYC and COA
• Ongoing, intensive quality improvement + quality assurance on all aspects of our care
• Safe, quiet neighborhood location

*The Raising A Reader program marries two of the Early Childhood Care + Education Centers’ goals: 1) to ensure that children are “kindergarten ready” when they leave the program and 2) to work with parents and caregivers to support their involvement in the education of their children.

Natalia Goncharik
Mom on maternity leave, deputy head of the main activities of the State Educational Institution “Ratomsky Nursery Garden”

With the birth of a baby, worries are added to the family. And it’s not just about everyday life. After all, you need to settle the issue with documents and do not forget to resolve the issue with the definition of a preschool institution, because kids grow up so fast 😊

What needs to be done for this?

#1
Get in line for kindergarten. The earlier the better. To do this, you need a passport of one of the parents and a birth certificate of the child. With these documents, one of the parents applies to the “One Window” service of the administration of his district, where he writes an application. Next, the parent receives a sheet with the queue number and phone numbers where you can contact with questions. You can queue up in several areas.

#2
When queuing, you need to indicate the number of the desired kindergarten. You can enter multiple numbers. If you are afraid of making the wrong choice, look for information about kindergartens on the Internet, chat with local mothers.

#3
Then comes the waiting period, which lasts 1.5-2 years. Admission to groups for the next academic year traditionally begins on April 1. And children begin to visit the garden in late August-early September. In the spring of that year (in March-April), when you plan to send your child to a kindergarten, you need to call the Department of Education or the head of the kindergarten and clarify whether your child is in kindergarten. In the middle of the year, you can get into the garden, but only if there are free places in it. Those. if a child turns 3 years old in the middle of the school year, it is better to go to kindergarten from September. Since in the middle of the year, most likely, they will look for a garden in which there are free places, and not where you want.

#4
You heard the cherished: “Yes, your child goes to the garden.” It’s time to get acquainted with the head of the kindergarten and ask all your questions. Check if there are adaptation groups in the kindergarten. Classes in such groups in the future help the baby to quickly socialize and get used to the preschool institution painlessly.

Usually the reception day at the head of the kindergarten is Wednesday afternoon.

#5
Don’t miss your chance. The fact that you have been accepted into the kindergarten is additionally notified by phone. Therefore, in the application, when queuing, indicate several phones. And given that the call can be missed, it is better to monitor the situation yourself and call the administration or manager. As soon as you are confirmed that the child is on the lists, you need to get a referral from the department of early childhood education of the Department of Education of the administration of your district.

The referral is valid for 15 days, during which you must submit it to the kindergarten.

#6
It’s time to start getting your medical certificate. To do this, you need to contact the clinic at the place of residence (or a private medical center). It is not necessary to formally refer to this procedure.

Caregivers and the pediatric nurse need to know everything about your baby's health, possible allergic reactions and chronic illnesses.

#7
Take the documents to the kindergarten. The enrollment of a child in a kindergarten is carried out by the head of kindergarten
upon the provision of the following documents by the parents:

  • referral issued by the Department of Education;
  • parental statements;
  • medical certificate of the child’s health.

To enroll in a sanatorium group, it is additionally necessary to have the conclusion of a medical advisory commission (issued by the clinic where the child is observed). For enrollment in a special (with severe speech disorders, integrated) group, it is additionally necessary to have the conclusion of the medical-psychological-pedagogical commission (issued by the Center for Correctional and Developmental Education and Rehabilitation (CCROiR).

Note
The arrival of a child in kindergarten is an important event for the whole family. To make adaptation easy:

  • tell your child what a kindergarten is, who is there and what the children are doing there.
  • create a positive attitude.
  • If you have questions or doubts, you can always talk to the teachers, kindergarten management or specialists from the education department.
    • With all my heart I wish you and your child bright everyday life in kindergarten!

Basic legal documents in the system of preschool education

      • Code of the Republic of Belarus on Education;
      • Law of the Republic of Belarus of November 19, 1993 No. 2570-XII “On the Rights of the Child”;
      • Educational standard “Preschool education”;
      • Early childhood education curriculum;
      • Model Curriculum for Early Childhood Education;
      • Guidance letter of the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Belarus (published every year)

      💬 Q&A

Can my child attend preschool after graduation and until 31 August?
At the request of the parents, the child can attend preschool during the summer. Often, on the basis of groups for future students, they organize a camp or unite groups. For example, in our garden, the children could walk until the renovation at the end of July. After the renovation in August, the kids were already coming for adaptation and, unfortunately, there were no more places for the “first-graders”.

Is it possible to send a child to kindergarten in the middle of the year?
In the middle of the year, you can send your child to kindergarten, but only if there are free places in it. And these places, unfortunately, are extremely rare.

What documents are needed to enroll a child in kindergarten? Registration of mom, dad is needed for this?
Registration or registration does not matter. To enroll in a kindergarten, you need: a passport or other document proving the identity of the legal representative of the child and a birth certificate of the child.

Is there an age of the child after which they must find a place in the garden?
There is no such age limit, because pre-school education is not compulsory in our country. Here you can consider the option of visiting not the nearest garden, but the one in which there are places.

Tell me another moment, from the moment the child is enrolled in a group in the kindergarten, does the mother lose half of the child allowance or not? (it just happened 20 years ago, but how is it now?)
No, when enrolling in kindergarten, the allowance is retained in full. But if the mother goes to work for more than 0.5 rates or opens an individual entrepreneur, then the benefits will be only half.

If a child turns 6 in the summer but does not go to school, should he be left in the garden. And, if possible, what document regulates this.
Such a document is the Education Code. According to the Code, the child can stay in the kindergarten for another year, until the age of 7, according to honey. testimony or at the request of a legal representative (parents). An important clarification: the sooner you voice your desire to leave the child after 6 years in the kindergarten, the easier it will be for the head to plan the occupancy of the groups for the next year.

A child at the end of September 3, is it possible to get into the garden at 2.7, for example? Or only from September you can start walking?
There are very few chances to get into 2.7 among the academic year. But find out by the availability of places in your garden.

Child 2.4, since August we are already going to the kindergarten for adaptation. The question is. The child knows how to do everything (eat, dress himself, etc.), but categorically refuses to go to the potty. There is still time to teach until August, but experiences are still present. How is this issue resolved in the garden?
Here I will answer as a mother: summer is coming and this is the best time to remove the baby’s diaper and let him explore his body and its needs. And in the garden, this is decided in an individual conversation with the teacher. In my experience, no one has ever refused a diaper insurance for sleep.

How do you know if a garden is good? Some markers? I want to avoid situations when caregivers are on their phones during a walk or do not look after children during meals. What questions to ask the manager at the meeting and what is important to pay attention to.
Dear mothers, a garden is not only a building. First of all, this is a well-coordinated work of the team. Find out how staffed the staff of teachers is, is there a psychologist, speech therapist, music director, head of physical education. education. Pay attention to how complete the group is, whether there are toys, books, special equipment. corners, how playgrounds are equipped on the street. And of course, if possible, talk to the teacher. And if you have any questions, please contact the deputy or head.

Tell me, please, how can a child be enrolled in a sanatorium-type kindergarten? Do you need a referral from a pediatrician or other documents?
Children are enrolled in a sanatorium-type kindergarten for medical reasons based on the conclusion of the medical advisory commission (issued by the clinic where the child is observed).

Is it possible to take a child to the garden for 4 hours, before daytime sleep? For example, have breakfast at home, give an afternoon snack with you, and pick it up for lunch? And do they take a child to the garden who does not have all the vaccinations?
In the absence of vaccinations, the child is taken to kindergarten. You can’t bring food with you. You can also drive for 4 hours, if it does not violate the regime moments. (That is, for example, you are not late for classes and do not pick up your child in the middle of class).

I want to send my child to a kindergarten from the age of 1.5, but when registering, they said that they would not take him until 2 years old. Is it like that everywhere?
Yes, everywhere. There are groups in several kindergartens where they take from 1 year old (for example, in Pervomaisky and Frunzensky districts of Minsk). Check with your local government to see if there are such groups and how to join them.

How to get to the desired kindergarten

Olga Gostyukhina

Author of Сolady magazine, journalist You need to think about entering kindergarten immediately after the birth of your child.

Article content:

  • Contributions
  • Documents and records
  • Benefits

Contributions for kindergartens

You can do the following: we all know very well that in our country there is a very big problem with the availability of vacant places in kindergartens and it is very difficult to get there. This is skillfully used by the heads of children’s institutions, each time introducing more and more reasons for the monetary contributions of the parents of the children. And parents dutifully carry the money, because there is no other way out.
So, it is with these contributions that the child’s visit to the kindergarten begins. In order for your child to go to the desired kindergarten, you may be required starting from 5 and ending with 30 thousand rubles , it all depends on the region.
This is all very sad and a frightening trend. And the worst thing is that the parents themselves encourage this trend.
But that’s not all. If you still managed to send your child to a kindergarten without various initial contributions, then in the future you will still expect various cash fees for various needs of the kindergarten and preparation for school.

Documents required for admission to the desired kindergarten

In any case, you will need to submit certain documents to register your child in a preschool. So, after the birth of your baby, you will receive a birth certificate . And now, just right, it’s time to enroll your child in the desired kindergarten. On July 1, 2006, a new procedure for enrolling children in kindergartens was introduced. Now, instead of going to the parents directly to the head of the kindergarten they are interested in, they need to go to a special committee for staffing preschool institutions in the district (for example, a new procedure for enrolling in kindergartens has been introduced in Moscow). In order not to waste time in vain, you need to familiarize yourself with the schedule, because commissions do not work every day.
The following documents will need to be presented to the committee:

  1. Child’s birth certificate ;
  2. Passport details of one of the parents;
  3. If there are benefits – document that confirms them.

Your personal presence in the commission is not required, the main thing is the presence of your passport, so you can ask one of your relatives or friends to enroll your child in a kindergarten, or make an appointment via the Internet.
There is one caveat: it is necessary to present the passport of only ONE of the parents. Therefore, it is better to present the passport of the parent, , who is registered in the same area as the kindergarten , in which you want to enroll the child. Of course, you should be recorded in any case, since the recording takes place at the place of actual residence, but still there will be fewer questions and you will deal with it faster.

Benefits

Since October 1, 2010, the list of benefits for admission to kindergarten has undergone a number of significant changes. This happened in accordance with the order of the Moscow Department of Education “On confirmation of the procedures for staffing state educational institutions that implement the main general educational program of preschool education, the system of the Moscow Department of Education.”
Now, first of all, children are admitted to kindergartens whose parents in the Russian Federation do not have permanent registration . When enrolling in a kindergarten, the children of mothers, students, children of the unemployed, twin children, children of internally displaced persons and refugees lost their right to benefits.
And there was also a gradation of benefits: preferential, extraordinary and priority right admission of a child to a kindergarten.
So, the priority right is given to:

  1. Children of teachers and other employees of public preschool educational institutions.
  2. Children of single mothers.
  3. Children whose siblings already go to preschool groups of this institution, with the exception of a situation where the profiles of the institution do not correspond to the health status of the child admitted to it.

Extraordinary rights vested in:

  1. Children of judges.
  2. Orphans, children transferred to other families of citizens for adoption, guardianship.
  3. Children whose parents are orphans and children left without parental care.
  4. Children of residents who were exposed to radiation as a result of the catastrophic situation at the Chernobyl nuclear power plant.
  5. Children of prosecutors and investigators of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Prosecutor’s Office.

The priority right to enroll in kindergartens are:

  1. Children from large families.
  2. Children of police officers.
  3. Children of police officers who died in connection with the performance of official activities, or who died before the expiration of one year of dismissal from service as a result of a concussion (wound), a disease that was received during the service. Also, the children of police officers who, as a result of their official activities, received bodily injuries, excluding the possibility of further service for them.
  4. Disabled children and children from a family in which one of the parents is considered disabled

Please note that the list of benefits in each city may vary slightly, as benefits are determined by the city administration, based on currently existing federal laws.
Our advice to you, even if you have benefits, it’s still better do not delay the submission of documents , because there are also a lot of beneficiaries, and a corresponding queue is also formed among them.

Daycare Peoria IL | Child Care Services Greater Peoria

More Than Your Average Daycare in Peoria IL?

Daycare offers parents the chance to drop off their children during the workday, and know they are being cared for in a fun and safe environment. However, why should you settle for your typical daycare in Peoria IL when there are better options out there? As the area’s leading child care facility, PALS Praise and Leadership Schools can offer your children much more than an average daycare.

PALS goes beyond caring for children. Through our innovative curriculum, we help children develop spatial awareness, gross motor skills, logic and reason. Young minds are the most receptive to learning new ideas, so why not use every moment we get with children to instill admirable values?

Why Does PALS Stand Out?

The mission of PALS is to go above and beyond what the average daycare center offers for children. While we incorporate the usual courses of arithmetic and language, we further teach infants, toddlers and young children skills to help them develop into happy, successful adults.

  • Experts in Education
    • PALS goes out and selects the best, most diverse group of teachers for every age group. Our 30 plus years of experience has given us insight into what qualities we like to see in our teachers. Additionally, we take the adage “you never stop learning” to heart and continue to educate our teachers and staff with new and evolving methods of instruction and care.
  • Advanced Learning Methods
    • Speaking of methods of instruction and care, PALS teachers use some of the most successful learning programs in their classrooms. For example, these programs include Don Holdaway’s foundations of literacy, the High Scope preschool program, Brian Cambourne’s conditions of learning, and more.
  • Safe and Secure
    • If the safety of your child is a concern of yours, PALS looks to put you at ease. Our facilities utilize state-of-the-art technology and security measures to keep your children completely secure. We monitor every person coming in or out of our building. Additionally, high fences surround our playground, and we give parents a code for entry.
Engaging and Expanding the Mind

Daycares in Peoria IL tend to neglect to teach the children they care for. PALS, on the other hand, supplies more than a safe place for your child to stay for the day. Our curriculum and teaching style help your child create connections so that they can get the most from their future educational experience. Moreover, they can take what they learn from the PALS program and apply it throughout the remainder of their school career and life. Our goal is to give every child the tools needed to be successful while unlocking their true potential.
