Elvis Presley’s Graceland Estate is Tennessee’s top tourist attraction.
Tours of this cozy home provide a unique glimpse into the life of the king, as nothing has changed since his funeral in 1977. Undoubtedly the most famous rock ‘n’ roll residence in the world, Graceland remains a place of pilgrimage for the king’s fans from all over the world. Highlights of the Graceland tour include: a visit to the family tomb, an impressive collection of the king’s cars, two aircraft belonging to Elvis Presley, costumes, souvenirs and gifts given to Elvis during performances, a music room, a TV room and much more.
2. Andrew Jackson House (The Hermitage)
Just a few miles east of Nashville is the Hermitage, the former home of Andrew Jackson, the seventh President of the United States, in which he lived after his retirement in 1837 to 1845. Built in 1819 and rebuilt in 1834, this is a typical example of Tennessee architecture. This magnificent mansion has housed the Andrew Jackson Museum since 1889. During a tour of the mansion, you will be able to see absolutely authentic 18th-century furnishings, furniture, household items, documents and personal belongings of Andrew Jackson. After visiting the Hermitage, you can walk through the beautiful park and visit the graves of Jackson and his wife, Rachel, in the Tulip Grove.

One of the main battles of the Civil War in the United States, the so-called second battle of Franklin or the battle of Franklin, was played out. Even today, the Carter house bears the scars of a thousand bullets. The house itself is notable for its original and antique furniture and now houses a museum of Civil War relics.
The Carter House was purchased by the State of Tennessee in 1951 and first opened to the public in 1953. The museum is dedicated to the battle of Franklin, the Carter family, and all Americans who fought in the Civil War.

-Mountains, on the slopes of which there is a natural park created in the distant 1934, and with over 9 million visits a year, this is the most visited national park in the United States.
It has one of the most diverse ecosystems in North America, and the spruce-fir forest that covers it is the largest of its kind.
The best place to start a tour of the natural beauty of the park is the small town of Gatlinburg, which, unlike most faceless small American towns, has quite interesting alpine architecture.
5. The City of Gallatin
A 40-minute drive northeast of Nashville is the small town of Gallatin, founded in 1802 and named after Secretary of the Treasury under Presidents John Adams and Thomas Jefferson – Albert Gallatin. The town boasts a quaint central square and many pleasant shady streets. The landmark of the city is the oldest mansion in Tennessee, a tour of which is possible only by appointment. This beautiful two-story brick home built in 1813 is listed on the US National Register of Historic Places. Inside the mansion, you’ll see exquisite period furniture and a library that boasts a collection of Confederate-era books and documents. On the same property is the Sumner County Museum, with its collection of over 250,000 artifacts, including fossils, Native American artifacts, and antique toys.
6. Murfreesboro
Murfreesboro is located 50 minutes southwest of Nashville and was the state capital of Tennessee from 1818 to 1826, but soon lost the right to remain council capital in the vote by one vote. Highlights of a tour of this historic town is the Rutherford County Courthouse, famous for being the site of an attack by Confederate troops on Union soldiers, which now houses the historic Italianate House Museum built in 1815. A pioneer village with reconstructed houses, a blacksmith shop, shops, saloons and a school. Old Murfreesboro City Hall and superb city park.
7. The Parthenon
No tour of Nashville is complete without visiting one of Tennessee’s most remarkable sights, the massive Parthenon. The Parthenon is built in the central park, just a few minutes walk from the city center, it is fully consistent with the original Parthenon in Athens, Greece. It was erected in honor of the centenary of the state in 1897. Made entirely of concrete, the Parthenon impresses with its sheer size, both inside and out.
8. The American Museum of Science and Energy at Oak Ridge
The American Museum of Science and Energy at Oak Ridge offers a fascinating insight into the history of nuclear energy. Highlights include a story about Oak Ridge’s role in developing the Manhattan Project’s atomic bomb, including videos, photographs, artifacts and documents that help paint a picture of this once vast facility. Other exhibitions are dedicated to national defense and include models of weapons, tools and protective clothing used in nuclear facilities.
9. Knoxville
Another Tennessee attraction is Knoxville, about 3 hours from the state capital, Shackville. Knoxville is best known for the University of Tennessee. Founded in 1794, the university is famous for its campus and magnificent gardens, which are open for tours from sunrise to sunset. Due to its location, it’s easy to explore the rest of the city of Knoxville after university. The observation tower with a superb view of the county is worth highlighting, the Confederate Memorial Hall, used in 1863 as the headquarters of the Confederates during the siege of the city, the East Museum of the Tennessee Historical Society and the wonderful market square are worth a visit.
