Formula Feeding FAQs: Preparation and Storage (for Parents)

Whether you plan to formula feed your baby from the start, want to supplement your breast milk with formula, or are switching from breast milk to formula, you probably have questions.

Here are answers to some common questions about formula feeding.

Do I Need to Sterilize My Baby’s Bottles?

Before the first use, sterilize nipples and bottles in boiling water for 5 minutes.

After that, you don’t have to sterilize your baby’s bottles and supplies each time you feed your baby. Do wash bottles and nipples in hot, soapy water (or in the dishwasher) after every use. You can get a store-bought countertop or microwaveable sterilizer, but it’s not necessary.

How Do I Prepare My Baby’s Bottles?

Carefully follow directions on the label when preparing formula. Most store-bought formula comes in three basic forms:

  • powders that you mix with water
  • concentrates, which are liquids that you dilute with water
  • ready-to-use (or ready-to-feed) liquids that can be poured right into bottles without adding water

Do not add more water than directed, or use formula past its expiration date.

Wash your hands well before preparing and feeding your baby. To mix powders or concentrates, use clean tap water. If you have a well, test the water to see if it’s safe before using it to mix infant formula.

If your tap water is not clean (or your baby has a weak immune system), boil it for at least 1 minute to kill germs. Let the water cool to room temperature before using it to mix formula. You also can use bottled water. Talk to your doctor if you’re concerned that your water is not safe.

Once prepared, the formula is ready to feed to your baby right away without refrigeration or warming. Feed your baby or store the prepared formula in the refrigerator within 2 hours.

How Long Can a Bottle Keep at Room Temperature?

Throw out any prepared or ready-to-feed formula that’s been sitting out for 2 hours or more, or within 1 hour from start of feeding.

Can I Save Leftover Formula to Give to My Baby Later?

No, throw away any leftover formula. Harmful bacteria can multiply since the last feeding, which could make your baby sick.

Can I Prepare Formula Ahead of Time?

Some parents make a fresh bottle just before each feeding. But many parents make and refrigerate enough formula ahead of time to use for the day. If you know your baby eats every 3–4 hours, for instance, you can make 6 to 8 bottles to last you all day.

If you prepare formula ahead of time, store it in the refrigerator. You can use pre-made formula for up to 24 hours. Open containers of ready-made formula, concentrated formula, and formula prepared from concentrate can be stored safely in the refrigerator for up to 48 hours. Do not store unmixed powder in the refrigerator.

How Do I Warm My Baby’s Bottles?

You don’t have to warm formula before feeding, but some babies may prefer it. To warm bottles, you can:

  • Run the bottle under very warm or hot water for a few minutes.
  • Put your baby’s bottles in a pan of hot water. Be sure to remove the pan from the heat source before putting the bottle in it.
  • Use bottle warmers that sit on your countertop at home or are portable.

Never use the microwave to warm bottles. It can create dangerous “hot spots” in bottles that can burn your baby’s mouth and throat.

Before warming a bottle, shake it. Then, test the temperature of the formula by squirting a drop or two on the inside or your wrist before feeding your baby. It should be lukewarm (barely warm), not hot.

Answer

A lot of parents ask how me long a bottle can sit out before it goes bad, especially if their baby takes small amounts at a time.

The answer? It depends. There are several factors that determine how long you can safely feed your baby a bottle of breast milk or baby formula. These include how it was prepared, temperature, prep area cleanliness and whether your baby has already fed from it, for example. Here’s what you need to know.

How to safely prepare your baby’s bottle

How you store and prepare baby’s food have a big impact on its quality and safety. Follow these science-backed tips when preparing your baby’s bottles. Note: If your baby was born prematurely or has other health conditions, reach out to your pediatrician for additional guidance.

  • Make a clean start. Before preparing formula or expressing breast milk, wash your hands with soap and water or use hand sanitizer that contains at least 60% alcohol. Be sure to clean the area you’ll use to mix formula, using sanitizing wipes or hot water and antibacterial soap. Bottles, bottle parts and storage containers should be pre-sanitized and ready to go.

  • If you’re pumping, inspect your pump and supplies. Make sure that all valves, tubing and flanges are clean and in good condition. Use only sanitized, food-grade bags and containers to store expressed milk.

  • Label everything. Bags and bottles should show the date and time you expressed the milk or mixed the formula. If your baby attends child care, add their name to bottles and containers too. Ask your child care provider about specific guidelines for breast milk storage and administration.

  • Consider making smaller batches. This helps reduce waste if your baby doesn’t drink the whole bottle, since leftover milk should always be discarded after one hour. You’ll dump less out if you prepare and use 2-ounce to 4-ounce batches of formula. Consider freezing breast milk in these smaller amounts too, so it’s easy to thaw them as you need them.

  • Keep prepared bottles in the back of the fridge. Although it might seem more convenient to stash them in the door, remember that every time you reach for something, warm air rushes in. The temperature stays more consistent toward the back.

  • Do not put infant cereal or other foods in your baby’s bottle. Contrary to what you may have heard, thickening your baby’s milk or formula will not help them feel fuller or sleep longer. Worse yet, it increases the risk that your baby will choke. Breast milk and formula on their own will provide all the nutrition and hydration your baby needs to feel full and relaxed.

So, how long can bottles sit out safely?

Once you finish feeding your baby, any prepared infant formula left in the bottle should be thrown out within 1 hour. Pre-mixed formula or breast milk stored in clean bottles can be kept longer, depending on the temperature and location.

Here are guidelines for safely storing everything from fresh breast milk to powdered formula supplies:

Type of Breast Milk or Formula

Place and Temperature

Notes

Countertop (77ᵒ F or cooler)

Refrigerator (40ᵒ F or cooler)

Freezer (0ᵒ F or cooler)

REMEMBER: After feeding baby, toss out any milk left in the bottle within 1 hour.

Freshly expressed or pumped breast milk

Up to 4 hours

Up to 4 days

Up to 9 months (use within 6 months for best quality)

  • Fresh breast milk stored in the fridge is good for 4 days, but DON’T freeze it if you don’t use it in that time frame. Toss it out.

  • If you don’t think you will use freshly expressed milk within 4 days, freeze it right after pumping.

Thawed breast milk from freezer

Up to 2 hours

Up to 24 hours

Do not refreeze

  • Because breast milk expands as it freezes, remember not to fill your storage containers all the way to the top.

  • Label all breast milk containers with the date the milk was expressed.

  • Thaw and use the oldest breast milk first (think: first in, first out).

  • To prevent burns, NEVER use a microwave or stovetop to thaw or warm breast milk. Set bags or containers on a clean countertop to thaw at room temperature.

  • To warm a refrigerated bottle before feeding, hold it under a stream of warm tap water or place in a bowl of heated water for a few minutes. Shake well to eliminate “hot spots.

Prepared infant formula

Up to 2 hours after preparing (1 hour if your baby has already started feeding)

Up to 24 hours

Do not freeze

  • Use only water from a safe source to prepare formula.

  • Always follow the instructions on the package. NEVER stretch formula by adding more water. This deprives your baby of nutrients they need to grow.

  • Always measure the water first, then add powder or concentrate and shake well.

  • To prevent burns, NEVER heat prepared formula in a microwave or on the stove. Bottles can be warmed by holding them under a stream of warm tap water or placing them in a bowl of heated water for a few minutes. Shake well to eliminate “hot spots.”

Formula powder or concentrate

Check label instructions.

Mark containers with the date and time they were opened.

Do not refrigerate powder.

Refrigerate liquid concentrate after opening. Use within 48 hours of opening.

Do not freeze.

  • Store unopened containers of formula in a cool, dry place.

  • Keep any opened canister of powdered formula tightly capped.

  • Never use formula after the “Use By” date on the label.

Remember

As parents, we all want to give our babies the best nutrition to help support their growth and development. If you have any concerns or questions, or if your baby was born pre-term or has special health conditions, reach out to your pediatrician for more guidance.

How to drink medicines correctly

Taking medicines and vitamins is, it would seem, a common thing. Because the periods of health for many are naturally combined with periods of illness. But few people think about how to properly take a handful of medicines prescribed by a doctor. Meanwhile, the effectiveness of treatment can be lost by 10-20% just because of the wrong approach to the use of medicines. In the article we tell the subtleties and features of the use of certain drugs.

Rule #1.

Chew or swallow

The specialist who prescribed them, the pharmacist at the pharmacy or the instructions for the drug can tell you whether it is worth violating the integrity of the pill. But how often does it matter? Many people think why swallow whole, if I can chew it, it still splits in the stomach. But this can be one of those disorders in which the effectiveness of the pill is instantly lost.

But the load from its entry into the body arises.

Oral intake (swallowing)

It is impossible to violate the integrity of the tablet in the case when the tablet shell is provided just for transporting the active substance through the gastric juice. For example, enteric tablets should act directly in the intestines, but due to the broken integrity, the active substance simply cannot get there.

Therefore, if it is said – to swallow without chewing, it is very important to follow this instruction.

Sublingual intake (absorption)

Theoretically, resorption of the drug on the oral mucosa has an advantage over the usual way. This way the drug passes into the body faster. Due to the high density of blood vessels, sublingual resorption allows the active substance to penetrate the bloodstream faster and get to the place of demand faster.

This method allows you to bypass the aggressive environment of the gastrointestinal tract, as well as minimize the load on the liver, where it can be significantly split. This process is referred to as the “first pass effect” of the drug in the overall metabolism of the body.

Rule #2. What to drink with

If the medicine requires swallowing, then it becomes important what you drink it with. In most cases, medicines are washed down only with water! Water is the simplest in terms of chemistry, a universal solvent.

Any other drinks are actually chemicals dissolved in water that can react with drug components. Because of what the effectiveness of the drug may decrease, the effect of the drug may begin faster or slower.

Our usual drinks – tea and coffee – contain theanine and caffeine. These substances can reduce the effectiveness of contraceptive drugs, disrupt the absorption of certain drugs. Drugs that affect the nervous system, antidepressants, or tonic drugs, when taken with drinks, can increase their effect. Drugs from the category of NSAIDs can increase the toxic effect on the liver and gastrointestinal tract.

Juices and carbonated drinks contain acids, which can have a damaging effect on the shells and active ingredients of drugs. Milk inhibits the action of antibiotics. But especially close attention should be paid to grapefruit juice. It can cause an overdose of drugs for the treatment of heart disease and hypertension, antibiotics, statins, hormones, antiepileptic drugs, anticancer, antihistamines, antifungal drugs.

Grapefruit juice delays the components of drugs that must be excreted from the body, passing in transit. Thus, accumulated substances and toxins can cause irreparable harm to the body and provoke unpredictable reactions.

Rule #3. Reception time

You can often hear that the drug is drunk once a day, two or three times a day, four, and so on. Which does not mean at all that the medicine is taken during the period of wakefulness. This means that all 24 hours of the day are included in the calculations.

For example, if a drug is prescribed three times, this means that it is taken at regular intervals every 8 hours. if you need to drink a pill 2 times a day – the gap between doses will be 12 hours. And further on this principle.

The fact is that an infection or a bacterium, like all systems of our body, functions 24 hours a day without breaks for sleep. This means that the impact on the problem should be carried out evenly, in the same dose, at equal intervals of time.

Rule #4. Missing tablet

The criticality of skipping a pill depends on how much time passed before you remembered it.

When taking the medicine twice, the missed tablet should be drunk as soon as you remember about it. However, now the multiplicity of daily intake should be adjusted starting from the last pill that you remembered. If a little time has passed since the missed pill, then you can not shift the time of admission, but continue as before.

It is impossible to double the dose of the drug at one time, and then continue the treatment as before.

If the course of pills has just begun and a lot of time has passed since the moment of taking the forgotten pill, then it is more advisable to start the course all over again.

True, such a recommendation is not suitable for antibiotics, in which the course usually lasts 5-7 days. So, if the tablet was missed towards the end of the course, it would not be advisable to start it all over again.

Special care should be taken when skipping oral contraceptives. Each OK manufacturer has its own recommendations on this matter, which are necessarily prescribed in the instructions for the drugs. It’s best to remember your birth control pills and set a reminder, because the hormonal fluctuations that skipping can cause can be detrimental to your health. This is especially true for those contraceptives that indicate the color order of taking pills. The doses of hormones in these tablets vary depending on the day on which it should be taken.

Rule #5. Combining drugs with each other

Not all drugs are compatible with each other. Incompatibility may lie in the reactions of the body, side effects, therapeutic effect. Some active substances of drugs are able to neutralize each other’s actions. And in the “best” case, no therapeutic effect will occur. But some combinations can not only lead to unpredictable consequences, but also become deadly.

So, there are absolute contraindications for the simultaneous use of certain drugs and relative ones. Drug compatibility is one of the reasons why self-medication can be dangerous.

If a specialist has prescribed several drugs for therapy, it is very important to separate them among themselves, even if there are no prohibitions on the joint use of drugs. So you can facilitate the work of the liver and gastrointestinal tract, which secrete certain enzymes for the processing of certain substances.

Incompatible drugs

Aspirin for the heart to prevent heart attacks and vascular diseases and any non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) like nise, ketorol, ibuprofen.

Both groups of drugs have one pronounced side effect – the effect on the gastric mucosa. So even one painkiller can provoke discomfort in the stomach, especially if there is a predisposition. And with prolonged and systematic use of aspirin (in order to affect the cardiovascular system) and NSAIDs as an analgesic, an exacerbation of chronic diseases of the digestive tract, including the “opening” of an ulcer, can occur.

Antiallergic drugs and powders for colds, sedatives.

The fact is that the usual cold and flu powders are not just a hot sweetened drink. This medicine contains, in addition to paracetamol, an antihistamine. So, an additional dose of an antihistamine substance contained in antiallergic tablets can increase drowsiness and knock you out of your usual state. This is especially important to know for people whose activities are related to concentration and concentration.

Calcium preparations and fixing preparations

The effect of diarrhea remedies is that they slow down intestinal motility. Exactly the same effect is in calcium preparations. So, when taken together, constipation can be provoked. And then toxic substances will accumulate in the body, leading to undesirable consequences.

Cardiac glycosides (antiarrhythmic heart drugs) and diuretics, high blood pressure medicines

The combined use of drugs can not only reduce the effect of cardiac glycosides, but also increase arrhythmia. You can not take diuretics for edema and high blood pressure when taking glycosides together. Since the former are able to remove calcium from the body, damaging the work of the heart.

Rule #6. Combination of drugs with food

If the instructions for the drug do not contain a specific recommendation on how to combine the intake with food, then this point is of no fundamental importance. But more often you can find items where there is a clear mention of eating.

Fasting

  • Drugs are taken to treat diseases of the gastrointestinal tract and the stomach itself. For example, antacids that reduce acidity in the stomach.

  • Decoctions, tinctures and liquid preparations based on plant materials are also drunk on an empty stomach so that in the presence of hydrochloric acid, the valuable components of the preparations are not destroyed in the stomach.

  • Drugs that relax smooth muscles. Despite the fact that they calmly tolerate interaction with acids and food, they can slow down or disrupt the process of digestion of food due to their inhibitory effect.

Before meals

A few minutes before the meal, cholagogues, digestive enzymes, drugs that stimulate the secretory function of the digestive glands are allowed to be taken.

After meals

Immediately after eating, it is better to take drugs that irritate the gastric mucosa: indomethacin, acetylsalicylic acid, steroids, metronidazole, and others.

As well as drugs that block the production of hydrochloric acid. This is necessary in order to avoid blocking the digestive process at the initial stage.

Vitamins and multivitamin complexes are also consumed after meals, in order not to be destroyed by the aggressive environment of the stomach.

While eating

Gastric juice substitutes and bile substitutes are taken to stimulate the digestive process.

An absolute contraindication to the joint use of drugs are citrus juices. They can suppress the production of enzymes in the liver or intestines. This can slow down the breakdown and elimination of toxic substances from the body. So, just a glass of juice is enough to delay the components of drugs that were supposed to be quickly removed for a whole day.

Dairy products are also not recommended for co-administration with drugs, especially antibiotics, as they can inhibit their absorption. And calcium salts, reacting with antibiotics, distort the effect of antibiotics on the body.

Drug and food incompatibilities

  • antibiotics of the tetracycline group, lincomycin, preparations containing caffeine (ascofen, citramon, caffetin) – with milk, kefir, cottage cheese;

  • iron preparations – with tea, coffee, milk, nuts, grain products;

  • calcium preparations – with carbonated soft drinks and juices containing citric acid;

  • erythromycin, ampicillin – with fruit and vegetable juices;

  • sulfadimethoxine, sulgin, biseptol, cimetidine, theophylline – with meat, fish, cheese, legumes containing a lot of protein;

  • aspirin and drugs containing acetylsalicylic acid, furagin, 5-NOK – with butter, sour cream, fatty foods;

  • paracetamol, sulfadimethoxine, biseptol, furosemide, cimetidine – with prunes, beets, sweet and flour dishes;

  • sulfonamides: biseptol, etazol, sulfalene – with herbs, spinach, milk, liver, cereal products;

  • baralgin, analgin, panadol, spazgan, paracetamol, maxigan – with smoked sausages.

Dog Daycare | New Tampa Pet Resort

Our wonderful Dog Daycare not only provides your dogs with a space to get their energy out, but it also provides many benefits that will help your pups gain the skills they need to live a happy and productive life with you.

Many places have daycare, but the Dog Daycare at New Tampa Pet Resort offers things that you will not be able to find anywhere else. We focus on providing a unique and beneficial experience for all the dogs so they will not want to leave. Bringing your dog to our daycare yard will benefit them both internally and externally. They will walk away a better pup!

A Relaxed and Happy Pet: Daycare is perfect for those pets who just need an outlet for their energy. Whether you they don’t have anyone to play with at home, or they are home alone while you are at work, our daycare yard will match your pup up with another dog to play with. We will match them up with someone who shares the same energy level to make sure that your furry little friend is preoccupied and having fun all day. By the time you pick them up at the end of the day, they will be pooped!

Invaluable Social Skills: We will properly introduce your dog to other dogs staying at our resort so they may begin a fun day of play. Even if your dog seems perfect at home, they may need some work around other dogs who don’t share their temperament level. Our trained staff will introduce your dog to the many other dogs we have staying with us to help your pup gain social skills that he/she will take for the rest of their life. For those dogs that are good meeting other dogs, practicing and getting refreshers in the yard will ensure they stay perfect.

Need Exercise: Some dogs do not act crazy when left alone, but are naturally sleepers that like to relax. If you find it hard to motivate your four-legged friend to get up an exercise than our daycare yard can help you with that. There is nothing like a bunch of other dogs playing to convince your pup to join in. Many dogs that are sedentary at home play a lot when they come to visit us. On top of that, if your dog still isn’t interested, our trained staff will do their best to entice your dog to play.

Indoor and Outdoor Area: Our yard consists if a huge indoor and outdoor play area. This allows us to house many dogs while still keeping everyone safe. Dogs can choose where they want to play and can roam around in either part of the yard. This gives your dogs’ options, allowing the hyper ones to play and the tired ones to sleep without interference.

New Tampa Pet Resort Pet Points Rewards

Loyalty Deserves To Be Rewarded. Loyal pets—and loyal pet parents—are entitled to all the appreciation in the world. And we’re delighted to reward your repeated visits to us with a program that recognizes your support. Every dollar you spend earns a reward point. And every 250 points you collect earns a $5 credit on your next stay. Entry into the rewards program is automatic.

About the Provider

Description: The Montessori Academy of New Tampa opened in 2003 and offers education for children ages 12 months through 4 years old. Newly renovated classrooms offer multi-age levels, a highly enriched environment with hands-on Montessori materials, fully accredited staff and extended day programs. Children progress at their own pace through sequential materials in all academic areas including Practical Life, Sensorial, Mathematics, Language, Science, Geography, History, and more. Foreign Language classes in Spanish and Chinese help our students learn an appreciation for different cultures and dialects. Our staff provides essential support, encouragement, direction and attention to each child’s special learning capabilities and needs. The curriculum stresses the “sensitive periods” for learning in which each child has a window of opportunity in which to learn a specific skill. A recent study in the “Journal of Science” found that the majority of Montessori students were more advanced academically, socially, and emotionally when compared to other children who were taught in traditional educational systems. Montessori educates the total child and gives him/her all the tools needed for a successful life.

Henry B. Plant Museum: information

The Henry B. Plant Museum is housed in the stunning Plant Hall, now a National Historic Landmark in Tampa, Florida, built as a luxury hotel by railroad tycoon Robert B. Plant.

The museum preserves the history of America’s Golden Age, the economic boom era that coincided with the British era in the mid-Victorian era and the Belle Epoque era in France. Inside, you’ll find beautiful original furniture and exhibits that reflect this pivotal moment in American history, which set the wheels of America’s rapid economic expansion in motion and cemented Florida’s status as a tourist destination.

Mike Peca: “I want to help some club” – Hockey

Mike Peca is still looking for a new job for next season.

“I’m going to help a club this season. As for Toronto, since the end of last season, the team’s management just kept telling me: “We want you back, we want to re-sign you.” But the club had problems that he is still trying to solve. So everything stays the same. I know Toronto general manager John Ferguson contacted my agent a week ago to tell him what I already knew. The Rangers were interested in me. It would be great to move to New York. But will this deal go through? Not sure. Let’s see how the situation develops. I would love to play for Buffalo. I heard from different people that the club is interested in me, but until the general manager calls you and tells you about it, it makes no sense to talk about any interest, quotes the veteran CP.

“Korean children play little and do a lot”: how pre-school education works in South Korea | by Kristina Zayats | Family Records

Maya and her husband moved to the South Korean city of Suwon, located 30 kilometers from Seoul, when her daughter was only one year old. According to Maya, Korea turned out to be a country of comfort, where everything is created for the convenience of people and where foreign specialists are happy to come to work, and the residents themselves always treat visitors with cordiality and goodwill.

It will be difficult for a person with liberal views to get used to a system of education and upbringing based on the principles of collectivism and respect for a hierarchy, Maya tells us. Even in Montessori kindergartens, one should not expect that the child will be given complete freedom to do whatever he wants. In general, Korean parents take education very seriously. From a very young age, in raising a child, emphasis is placed on learning, because without a good education one cannot find a job and even get married “successfully”.

What difficulties arose in the adaptation of a small child, why the question “Are you a foreigner?” sounds like a remark to Korean children and what are the consequences of suppressing non-standard behavior in childhood – read in Maya’s story.

Preparing to move:

“Just five years ago, there was practically no information about modern Korea on the Internet.”

We thought about moving to South Korea when my husband was offered a job at Samsung Electronics. This happened even before the birth of our daughter, so we decided to wait: I had certain plans for childbirth and how we would spend the first months after the birth of a child, and my husband was at work in St. Petersburg. We have always been impressed by Eastern culture, we wanted to understand and feel it from the inside. Since we love to travel, and our travels are not limited to vacations of several weeks, and Korea was already famous for its rapid economic and industrial development, security and comfort, then a year and a half after the first invitation, in the fall of 2010, we nevertheless decided to move.

It is curious that only five years ago there was practically no information on the Internet about modern Korea: about the life and life of Koreans, about the specifics of foreigners living. They went there much less than now, they didn’t write much about it either, and there weren’t any communities of Korean lovers, they began to appear exactly a year later. I remember how I managed to find a blog of a Russian programmer who helped me navigate issues related to climate and nutrition – these moments, as it turned out later, became the most difficult for me to adapt.

I was very happy when I found on the forum of St. Petersburg parents a single topic in the section about life abroad, dedicated specifically to living in Korea. It was created and supported by the mother of now three children, a Korean scholar who lived in this country for about eight years and spoke of her with great warmth. We became friends, and I still read her blog, in which she now writes about life with children in Canada.

About adaptation:

“It didn’t feel like I was on another planet”

The first impression of Korea, unexplored and incomprehensible, turned out to be pleasant and optimistic. The country accepted us, as if I got to my home. The differences were not embarrassing and it seemed that everything had been done and existed in order to make others feel comfortable, including psychologically. Koreans are a delicate people, and the country itself is a country of comfort. In this sense, she has no equal. There was also goodwill and a calm atmosphere: on the streets and in public places, children were always smiling, waving their hands and coming up to greet them and say a few pleasant words. My daughter began to smile more on the street, she immediately learned to wave her hand in response.

I didn’t feel like I was on another planet, as my friends said. Technology and industrial development were taken for granted: finally, everything in the cities was done wisely and for the convenience of residents!

We really enjoyed going to traditional Korean festivals in national stylized villages, especially Chuseok – Harvest Festival in October. I fell in love with Buddhist temples, found both in villages and mountains, and in the very center of the metropolis.

People go to Korea with pleasure and, if possible, for a long time. Moreover, highly qualified specialists from Russia and Canada, the USA and Australia come there. The reasons are simple: in the “Land of the Morning Calm” there are high salaries and decent living conditions for foreign professionals, excellent public transport and affordable cars for personal use, good roads with excellent interchanges and clean, green, safe streets.
Also cheap and high-quality catering, shopping, excellent medicine, equipped with the latest technology, licensed clinics and traditional treatment centers. In addition, cheap kindergartens with good educational programs and schools, non-aggressiveness of Koreans, their politeness and unobtrusiveness in personal contacts, the opportunity for a foreigner to live in Korea the way he wants, regulating the degree of integration into the environment himself (young Koreans practice English with pleasure, it is easy get acquainted on the street with foreigners – just out of interest and curiosity).

Difficulties and oddities of local life were easily overcome. The only thing is that I did not immediately accept the local cuisine, not so much because of the spiciness, but because of the combination of the specific smell of a limited set of spices, the abundance of seafood and the incomprehensible simplicity of the dishes, devoid of imagination and any aesthetics. I cooked at home, and my daughter was supplemented with breast milk, so there were no problems. The most important thing was to find buckwheat at an affordable price.

But the pitfalls and paradoxes of Korean life were realized a little later. There was a strong difference between how we felt when we first arrived in Korea and how we felt there a year later. At first it seemed that all the best expectations were justified. Later, as the country was recognized, there was more and more longing and sadness for what is not found in Korea, that is, for high culture, gourmet cuisine, amazing architecture, philosophy and music, endless expanses, wild forests and transparent autumn air.

About the lifestyle and upbringing of children:

“Life in a family is unthinkable without observing a clear hierarchy”

What immediately sunk into my soul was the attitude towards small children. For the first year of life are considered 9 months spent by the child in the womb. And the countdown of the age of the child occurs from the moment of conception, and not the birth. This is fundamentally different from the Western attitude towards the unborn being, which absorbs the love and warmth of the mother on a subtle level even before birth.

Young children are brought up liberally. A child under 5-6 years old is allowed a lot. The baby is rarely scolded and almost never punished, he is constantly next to his mother and rarely cries. By the way, baby carriers, slings and ergo backpacks appeared in Korea, as well as in Japan, much earlier than in the West – they just always carried children in their arms, in a sling, later in a sling. A cheerful, cheerful Korean grandmother carrying her 2-3 year old grandson on her back is a common occurrence. I have never seen bored mothers with a stroller winding circles around the yard. Strollers are taken with them on long trips for family weekends or taken out to the balcony and put the children to sleep in them. Mostly mothers with babies in ergo backpacks get together and go to the park, to a local restaurant or shopping together.

A Korean mother would not teach a child to sleep in his own crib by letting him cry for several nights in a row. They try to calm the child by any means. Children (with the exception of very poor families) always have mountains of toys. The child in the family is given all spiritual strength, all material possibilities, he is the object of universal love. The question of a son or grandson can soften even the most unfriendly and wary interlocutor.

The basis of Korean education is respect for elders and hard work. Life in a family is unthinkable without a clear hierarchy. The younger ones obey the elders, the children obey their parents, the woman obeys the man. No matter how emancipated modern Korean women are, they have achieved considerable success in this area in recent years (the recently elected president of Korea is a woman), but a man remains the head of the family. There are many wives who find a lot of ways to twist ropes out of their husbands, but in public the hierarchy will still be respected.

From a very early age, children are taught to address older family members using special respectful forms. The younger cannot call the elder by his first name, let alone address him with “you”. It is necessary that a child knows from an early age how important the family is. “You can’t clap your hands with one hand,” Koreans say. To be together, to maintain family ties and relationships, even if it is not easy, to realize that people need each other – they try to teach this in the family, kindergarten and school.

There is an interesting feature in the upbringing of girls. Traditionally, in the countries of the Far East, it was not customary to teach a girl the secrets of household chores or crafts. This was considered not only unnecessary, but even harmful. Girls were married off early and learned everything from their new families. Now girls are more likely to marry closer to 26, and this legacy of parenting sometimes leads to the inadequacy of some adult Korean women or to their somewhat infantilism. For example, we were surprised to see how familiar Korean mothers treated guests to pizza and cola. And this was not dictated by a lack of time, since one-year-old children are at this time in kindergarten. This is more the norm than the exception.

Children are taught not to fight, but to “press the market”. I have never seen fighting Korean children. A friend of mine told me that these were isolated cases. They resolve conflicts by talking: whoever will be the first to bring the interlocutor to tears with words or a cry.

Korea is a country of housewives (in a good way). Most Korean women either do not work at all or work part-time, so the children are under constant maternal supervision. Korean children, compared to their European and American peers, are very attached to their mothers.

On the strictness and role of education:

“Today’s Korean children are often more busy than adults”

Korea is a very rapidly developing and rapidly changing country. However, the form of education remains largely traditionally strict. Corporal punishment was in full swing in all Korean schools ten years ago. Now both caning and corporal punishment are officially prohibited.

Traditional schools still exist, but today they are more like cultural centers where children and teachers wear national clothes, learn ancient crafts, calligraphy and other traditional subjects.

Photo provided by Maya

Children are taught to observe social norms of behavior – gratitude, apology, respect for elders. To be not like everyone else, to attract attention is considered indecent. In such cases, of course, they set others as an example. But they use positive examples, not negative ones. But they can bring us, Europeans, as negative ones, and tell the child: “Are you a foreigner? Why are you behaving like this?” This is ok, but not shown.

With all their love, Korean parents demand a lot from their children. First of all, this concerns studies, since only graduates of the best universities can count on a good job in Korea. And to enter one of them, you need to study very well. For those girls who want to become housewives, it is not easier: only the owner of a higher education can apply for an excellent party. Therefore, Korean children play little and study a lot. And they simply do not have time to communicate with each other.

Most often, children already have a lot of activities in kindergarten. At school, a cloudless childhood ends abruptly. Today’s Korean children, who have to attend various courses in addition to school, are often busier than adults. Almost every student takes additional private lessons. They manage to relax a little only in rare hours of leisure, sitting at the computer. Approximately after the fifth grade, the average Korean student’s routine looks like this: at 7:30 school (the beginning of classes varies), after school additional classes and courses until 9-10 pm. Many children continue to study during the holidays.

For years there have been discussions that schoolchildren are overworked and deprived of their childhood. But most parents still believe that it is all for the sake of the children and that it is necessary for them to succeed in life. Constant competition and constant struggle for survival.

In general, severe pressure on a child who, from childhood, must meet the requirements set for him, work hard and be responsible for his actions, is quite characteristic of Korean pedagogy, both family and school. The suppression of non-standard behavior also has its shadow sides, since the child is accustomed to conformity, and his ability to make original decisions is noticeably weakened. This affects the work of large Korean companies and becomes one of the reasons for the need to attract foreign specialists for cooperation.

About pre-school education and kindergartens:

“Korean traditional upbringing is characterized by strong team spirit and unquestioning obedience to elders.”

Korea has developed a whole pre-school education industry. There are a lot of developing groups and activities, games for the little ones and the little ones. The stores sell a great variety of colorful books, you can also buy educational games there (for example, a puzzle in the form of a map of Korea), and even educational children’s songs recorded on cassettes (multiplication tables or the Korean alphabet).

Kindergarten in Korean is necessary and useful. Here the child must learn not to stand out too much and live in a community where uniform rules and laws reign for everyone. Since recently, the basic kindergarten is fully paid by the state, so parents pay only for additional lessons, but they are not required.

There are two types of basic kindergartens, orinichip and yuchiwon. The first one can have very little to do and is the kind of place where they can just sit with the kids and provide a playground. There are now many English kindergartens in Korea, it is believed that sending a child there is prestigious.

Koreans also demand a nursery, since maternity leave lasts only 3 months after the birth of a child. At the same time, it is typical for the whole of South Korea that a woman does not work after the birth of a baby, but devotes herself to home and family.

It is customary to send children to kindergarten, even if the mother does not work. Someone walks from 1.5 years old, someone from 3 years old. Children who for one reason or another do not attend kindergarten at the age of 3 are treated quite tolerantly, they do not pester with questions and moralizing – after all, it is not customary for them to demonstrate and impose their opinion, to violate personal boundaries. If there are grandmothers nearby, then they are busy with children up to 2 and even up to 3 years. But this is rare, so it is difficult to find a child on the playground who does not go to kindergarten during the day.

Korean babies start learning reading, arithmetic, music, ballet and drawing at the age of 2-3. Kindergarten teachers conduct Korean and general developmental classes. Music, English, physical education, ballet, drawing are conducted only by professionals invited from outside. Lessons last 20 minutes. There can be three to four 20-minute sessions per day: two with a teacher and two with a pro.

In all kindergartens, without exception, trips with children to the zoo, museums or sports complexes are regularly organized, as well as on excursions and just walks. Each kindergarten and school has its own bright and comfortable uniform for such trips. These trips are included in the program of preschool education. And the kids really like them. If they go to the zoo or even to the museum, and the weather is good, then a picnic is sure to be arranged. But for Koreans, even during field trips, everything is carefully planned: children are not given free time, they strictly follow the program drawn up by the teacher.

Kindergarten teachers are friendly and patient. If they build children, then strictly, but kindly. Children are not yelled at. When meeting children, they kiss, hug and in every possible way show that they are glad to see them. At the same time, children listen to them and stay close by on excursions. Educators regularly undergo advanced training.

For Koreans, education, as I mentioned, is above all, so the quality of the garden is judged by how well and how much they teach. First of all, intellectually, but emotional and creative can be a bonus. Few kindergartens will give children complete freedom of creativity (although it happens occasionally). At the same time, many kindergartens use some Montessori principles: there is an environment, there are rugs, you can take a manual, play and put it in place.

In general, the Montessori system came to Korea from the United States and is more common in foreign or Christian schools closely associated with the Protestant church. Traditional Korean upbringing is distinguished by a pronounced spirit of collectivism and unquestioning obedience to the elder, therefore it conflicts with Montessori pedagogy. In this regard, Montessori is not as popular in Korea as, say, private English gardens.

The Montessori Kindergartens that I had a chance to learn about did not impress me with significant differences from ordinary Korean kindergartens. The only thing that is always present in them is didactic Montessori manuals. Everything else looks normal. It is very difficult to imagine a situation in Korean kindergartens typical of Montessori pedagogy, in which some of the children gathered with the teacher for some classes, and some do what they want, it is very difficult. I got the impression that such behavior for Koreans is beyond the scope of what is normal. There is a team and this team is busy with something under the guidance of a senior. If a child does not join these classes, then this is at least strange.

In the name of almost every Montessori kindergarten in Korea, there is the word Art, which here refers to everything related to the fine arts. It is believed that the system of the Italian teacher is designed to develop precisely artistic abilities. Like, your kid loves to do something with his hands, sculpt, draw, and so on, send him to a Montessori group. Moreover, this opinion exists not only among parents, but also among teachers. It turns out that for the development of, say, mathematical abilities, freedom is not needed, but it is useful for creative individuals. One could argue with this, since the Montessori method is a system of personality development as a whole, and its goal is to reveal in the child all his original abilities, and not some pre-set by parents.

Despite the contradictions, the Montessori method and traditional Korean education based on Confucianism definitely have something in common. “The teacher grows with the student”, “When a noble man teaches and instructs, he leads, but does not pull, encourages, but does not force, opens the way, but does not lead to the end,” said Confucius.

On the adaptation of the child:

“Korean children’s subtle disregard for foreign children was noticeable”

Our move fell on the eve of my daughter’s birthday, when she was one year old. At that moment, everything went great, despite the fact that my daughter, after a flight for a week, mixed up day and night. We dealt with this easily. In all other respects, there were no inconveniences. At this age, children, as a rule, are still very strongly attached to their parents, and society as such does not bother them much.

Healthy friendliness and a calm atmosphere contributed to an almost imperceptible adaptation. We ourselves varied the degree of integration into the environment, we did not force it. Cooked mostly at home. She does not like Korean food, but eats certain foods with pleasure: for example, seaweed, mild Korean seaweed soups and udons, sesame rice and vegetable rolls. In Korea, she liked, rather, Japanese food, it is not spicy and is easier to perceive for a European child.

The hardest part started later, around the age of three. The older the daughter became, the more difficult was the adaptation. There was a subtle disregard for foreign children by Korean children. Perhaps the hardest thing about Korea, besides feeling isolated from the rest of the world, is learning the language. In order for the child to speak Korean, you need to go to the kindergarten, development centers and private teachers will not give results. In the garden, children begin to talk after a year. It was not our plan to send her to a kindergarten earlier than 3-4 years. Therefore, it was clear that integration was unlikely to succeed.

Over time, it became more difficult to live in two houses, while maintaining and instilling Russian culture in a child and providing adequate space in a country of a different order. It is psychologically difficult to realize that you live in two different countries located at different ends of a huge continent. Considering that almost all Russian families go home at least once a year (usually for summer holidays), we spent most of our time in our native St. Petersburg and it was impossible not to notice that she liked spending time in her homeland more than there. Each time they flew to Korea with joy, but solely because of the fact that “to dad.”

By the age of two, when she was not yet ready for a kindergarten, and it was impossible to provide a village of affection like in St. Petersburg, I thought about creating a home kindergarten among the mothers of the Russian community. Unfortunately, there was no support and we limited ourselves to episodic meetings and weekly Russian dinners. At the age of 3, we started attending the English-Russian kindergarten Appletree kindergarten.

Several conclusions can be drawn from our experience. First, it is worth remembering that adapting to Asia is much more difficult than it might seem at first glance. Especially a person with liberal views.

Children’s Home & Aid | What is Accreditation

“A process, which certifies that a program meets and/or exceeds state licensing standards.”

Accreditation is a voluntary process designed specifically for child care programs, family child care homes and school-age programs. The accreditation process is an opportunity for a program to conduct a thorough examination of every aspect of the program based on recognized quality standards. Accreditation involves staff, parents, administrators and children. The process consists of a comprehensive self-study, a validation visit by an objective, qualified, trained individual, and a review of the self-study and parent and staff surveys by a Council of peer professionals and educators. Receiving the award of program Accreditation is highly prized and exemplifies a program that excels in the care and education of young children. To gain a better understanding of the various accreditations available please review the following information.

National Association for Family Child Care (NAFCC)
The National Association for Family Child Care accredits family child care homes that offer high-quality child care services. The purpose of Accreditation is to offer professional recognition and consumer distinction to those providers who meet these high standards of quality through their consistency and dedication. Accreditation is intended for providers who have demonstrated a commitment to reach beyond the minimum requirements of state licensing.

For more information contact: NAFCC 800-359-3817
http://www.nafcc.org

National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) for Early Childhood Programs
In this accreditation process, a child care center’s administration, staff, and parents join with representatives of the National Academy of Early Childhood Programs to determine whether their program meets nationally recognized criteria for high quality. Accreditation is achieved through self-study and facilitates lasting improvements in the quality of the early childhood program.

For more information contact: NAEYC 800-424-2460

National Early Childhood Program Accreditation (NECPA)
NECPA standards combine health and safety standards and developmental standards. The Accreditation process examines program areas such as professional development, work environment, outdoor environment, developmental program, parent and community involvement, and administration.

The NECPA system is a streamlined, user-friendly approach to Accreditation. It begins with a self-assessment and improvement plan, which the center implements. A volunteer peer verifier then follows up with an on-site visit. The National Accreditation Council studies the results of the self-assessment and verification visit and makes an Accreditation decision.

For more information contact: NECPA at 800-505-9878 or www.necp.net

School-Age Care Council on Accreditation

Accreditation is not a one-time event; it’s a commitment to continuous improvement. Just as children are continually growing, the standards reflect the evolving challenges of the field. However, the baselines of safety, care and opportunity remain the core, and COA national scope helps assure long-term stability and quality.

For more information contact: COA at 617-298-5012
http://www.coaafterschool.org

National Accreditation Commission For Early Care and Education Programs (NAC)
NAC promotes professionalism and program quality. Administrators, staff, and parents evaluate the early care & education program in accordance with NAC Accreditation standards, identifying strengths and weaknesses and making needed improvements as required. This information is documented in a self-study report. Upon completion of the self-study trained early care and education professionals conduct on-site observations and interviews verifying information provided in the self-study report. NAC commissioners assess the self-study report with the Validator’s comments and verification that the program meets NAC accreditation standards. Commissioners then recommend to award, defer, or deny accreditation.

For more information contact: NACCP at 800-537-1118

Accreditation Funds
Children’s Home + Aid Child Care Resource & Referral (CCR&R) Program receives funds from the Illinois Department of Human Services (IDHS) to support child care programs and family child care providers in achieving Accreditation. Accreditation Assistance Funds may be applied toward Accreditation fees. Priority is given to programs funded by IDHS, with greater priority given to those with 25% or more of their enrollment consisting of IDHS funded children, however all individuals are encouraged to apply.

Why Child Care Accreditation Matters

February 21, 2019

Here’s a little poem about accreditation:

Yes, we love to mix fun with learning at Kiddie Academy® Educational Child Care. But, in all seriousness, accreditation is an important consideration for parents when you’re searching for a place to educate and care for your child.

Child care accreditation is a measure of quality assurance. It’s validation by a third party that a child care provider’s practices and facilities meet established standards.

“Accreditation indicates to families that a child care center provides high-quality childhood education in a safe environment,” said Richard Peterson, Kiddie Academy’s Vice President of Education. “It gives them peace of mind in knowing their children are receiving early care and education that helps prepare them for future success in school and in life.”

Kiddie Academy encourages and supports each independently owned and operated franchise location to secure accreditation from the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC), the gold standard for excellence in the field of early childhood education. We also recommend that Academies seek the highest level of achievement at the state level. States develop their own certification programs based on the Quality Rating and Improvement System (QRIS). This is a framework offered by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services for states to establish their own rating systems.

State-supported QRIS measures many of the same things as NAEYC accreditation, although their processes vary from state to state,” said Kiddie Academy’s Director of Education Quality, Sheena Robertson. Among the things they look at are curriculum, teaching qualifications and preparations, relationships with parents and the facility’s physical environment. NAEYC’s website offers a more detailed look at the 10 Standards it evaluates during the accreditation process.

So, what happens during the NAEYC accreditation process? Accreditation requires the completion of a rigorous and comprehensive period of self-study involving administrators, staff and parents. The self-study identifies program strengths and areas for continued improvement; and a development plan is established to map out goals and strategies for program enhancement. Once the self-study is completed, a team of independent evaluators, representing leaders in the field of early childhood education, conducts an on-site visit to determine whether the program meets or exceeds accreditation standards and established quality indicators and, ultimately, merits accreditation.

When an Academy receives accreditation, here are just a few things it signals to parents:

  • Qualified and prepared teachers and staff
  • A safe, caring environment
  • Excellent communications with families
  • An ongoing process of self-review and improvement
  • High-quality curriculum and practices

“To a parent, this means we’re held to higher standards than a non-accredited center,” Robertson emphasized. “It’s about where you are now and where the improvement journey will lead you. We encourage all our Academies to exceed the standards every year. Accreditation shows parents that when we say we’re a quality child care provider, it’s backed by a standards-based evaluation.

how to get, procedure, conditions and terms of passage, when they can cancel

This material was updated on 10/12/2022.

    Liana Lipanova

    figured out the accreditation rules

    Author profile

On October 1, 2022, a new procedure for obtaining accreditation for IT companies came into force.

It is not necessary to receive it, but with accreditation, enterprises can qualify for tax and other benefits. Accreditation is given free of charge: you don’t even need a state fee for submitting an application.

Until August 1, 2022, when the Ministry of Digital Transformation suspended accreditation under the old rules, it was enough for an IT company to obtain it using the OKVED profile code as the main one. The agency decided to change the procedure “to avoid unfair use of benefits.” Since October 11, the acceptance of applications has been resumed.

We tell you what has changed in the rules for receiving.

    So what? 09/28/22

    Who can get accreditation

There are four mandatory conditions for obtaining accreditation: profile OKVED codes, at least 30% of the share of revenue from IT services, information about IT on the website and disclosure of tax secrets.

Only a company can get accreditation, an individual entrepreneur is not available. The head of the Ministry of Digital Development, Maksut Shadayev, said that large companies, in order to obtain accreditation, can allocate specialized divisions to a subsidiary IT company – this will not be regarded as splitting the business. The main thing is that the new company does not arise during the reorganization, otherwise it will not be able to receive tax benefits.

The company in the Unified State Register of Legal Entities must indicate the profile OKVED code. Before the innovations, there were 7 such codes, now there are 31 of them.

The profile code should be indicated as the main one, but some types of activities from the list should be accompanied by additional ones. For example, if the main OKVED is 46.51.2, software wholesale, then, for example, 62.01 – software development should be indicated as an additional one.

    /okved/

Which OKVED codes are valid in 2022

Another general condition for obtaining accreditation is that the share of revenue from IT services must be at least 30% of the total at the end of the last year. The list of activities related to IT services was published by the Ministry of Digital Development in a separate order – it differs from the OKVED profile codes. It includes, for example, the creation and training of neural networks, cybersecurity services, acceptance of electronic payments, and so on – a total of 36 types of activities.

If the company is less than a year old, and the income during this time exceeds 1,000,000 R, then all revenue from the moment of registration is taken into account. This is a new requirement: previously, a share of revenue was taken into account only when receiving tax benefits.

The official website of the company should indicate in which areas the organization works in the IT field and whether its products are included in the unified register of Russian programs.

In addition to the mandatory, there are additional conditions for obtaining accreditation, which are divided into three options. An IT company must meet the conditions of at least one of them. The organization can choose the option that is convenient for itself: the first is suitable for companies with high salaries, the second is for those who develop software from the register of the Ministry of Digital Development, and the third is for startups.

In the first option, in addition to the mandatory requirements, there is one condition: the average salary of the company’s employees for the last three months must not be lower than the average for the country or region.

The average salary in the organization is determined as follows: the sum of all payments and other remuneration is divided by the number of employees – and so for each of the last three months. The average salary of the Ministry of Digital Development will be compared with the average salary for the country or region in which the company is registered, according to Rosstat.

In the second option, the additional conditions are as follows:

    1. The company’s income for 2021 must exceed 1,000,000 R. And if it was created in 2022, then for the months of this year.
    2. The company must be the owner of the software included in the register of Russian programs of the Ministry of Digital Development and receive income from its sales.

Salary requirements are not taken into account in this case.

    /guide/rus-soft/

How to get into the register of domestic software

Accreditation can also be obtained by IT startups with no or little revenue. Here are all the conditions:

    1. The average salary of employees is not lower than the average for the country or region.
    2. Company established less than three years prior to application.
    3. Startup income from the moment of creation is less than 1,000,000 rubles.
    4. The website indicates what exactly the company does in the IT field.

If there is no start-up registry in the region in which the company is registered, then it is enough to meet the conditions above. If there is a registry, you need to register in it. And then the startup’s revenue from IT must be at least 30%.

Now there is a register of startups only in Moscow, so only metropolitan startups should provide an extract. Within a couple of months, the Ministry of Digital Development will turn to other regions with a request to create a register of startups in each.

    /guide/open-startup/

    How to launch a startup

Public and autonomous institutions in the IT sector can also get accreditation. The conditions are as follows:

    1. The main OKVED code is from the profile list.
    2. The average monthly salary is not lower than the average for the country or region.
    3. The official website has information about activities in the field of IT.
    4. IT revenue exceeds 30% of the total.

Public institutions and autonomous non-profit organizations established by the state can also receive accreditation if they meet the first three requirements. Instead of the last point, this is: the cost of IT activities must exceed 30% of all costs.

    How to apply

You can apply in your personal account on public services. To do this, you need to open the form for accreditation on behalf of the company.

It can be filled out by the head of the company or another person with a power of attorney, which must also be attached to the application. The head must sign the application with an enhanced qualified electronic signature.

Information about the company and the manager will be pulled up automatically from your personal account – you need to check it and fill in the missing lines, for example, indicate the company’s website.

The application must be accompanied by:

    1. Certificate of no criminal record of the head.
    2. Statement of income, and for state institutions and autonomous non-profit organizations – statement of expenses.
    3. A statement signed by a manager or authorized person that IT revenues exceed 30% of the company’s total revenue.

In addition, before submitting an application, you must send consent to the tax office for the disclosure of tax secret information.

Form of taxpayer’s consent to disclosure of tax secret information

Income statement must contain the total amount and breakdown of each specific income for IT services from legal entities and individuals. For each service, you must specify the OKVED code from the list of profile services. Startups registered in the Moscow register must provide an extract from it.

In addition, the Ministry of Digital Development may request additional information from the company. After submitting the application, the ministry will conduct an audit – they will request the necessary data from the tax office. If the department issues accreditation, it will enter the company in the register of accredited organizations and send a notification to the personal account on public services. The refusal will also be notified at public services.

The entire review will take 15 business days from the date of application. This period may be delayed if the Ministry of Digital Transformation requests additional information from the company.

What should those who are already accredited do? Otherwise, accreditation will be canceled, and a new application for its receipt can be submitted only after a year.

Starting from 2023, the Ministry of Digital Development will conduct scheduled inspections of accredited companies every year until July 1. At the request of the ministry, it will be necessary to provide a certificate of income from activities in the IT field. Companies that already apply reduced IT contribution rates will not be reviewed.

When accreditation can be canceled or denied

    Accreditation can be denied:

    1. Those who do not meet the specified requirements.
    2. Companies that did not consent to the disclosure of tax secrets.
    3. Organizations, more than 50% of which are directly or indirectly owned by the state or municipality, with the exception of state, budgetary, autonomous institutions and ANOs.
    4. State agencies, state unitary enterprises, municipal unitary enterprises, state companies, state corporations, public companies.
    5. Banks, credit and non-credit financial institutions, insurance companies, telecom operators.
    6. Companies whose executives have an unexpunged or outstanding criminal record.
    7. OJSC from the list of the government dated January 23, 2003 No. 91-p, for example Aeroflot, Alrosa, Gazprom and so on.
    8. Companies with a tax debt of more than 3000 RUR

Companies can reapply after they eliminate the reasons for the refusal, or appeal the refusal.

Already accredited organizations with any indirect state participation will be able to remain in the register. But direct participation will be taken into account: by the time of the annual audit on July 1, the share of direct state participation should be less than 50%.

Once a year, the Ministry of Digital Development may conduct an unscheduled audit of an already accredited company. To do this, the department will send requests to other authorities and request a certificate of income from the company to make sure that it still meets the requirements. Data for the last three months will be checked.

Also, accreditation can be canceled if the company:

    1. Itself submits an application for refusal of accreditation.
    2. It will be closed, and information about this will appear in the Unified State Register of Legal Entities.
    3. Will give false information. In this case, the company and officials will be held liable.
    4. Will not give consent to the disclosure of tax secrets.

You can refuse accreditation in electronic form at public services. After that, you can re-apply after six months from the date of cancellation.

What are the benefits for accredited IT companies

From 2021, accredited IT companies can receive tax benefits. Here are the main ones:

    1. The income tax rate is 3% in 2021 and 0% in 2022-2024 instead of 20%.
    2. Aggregate rate of insurance premiums — 7.6 instead of 30%.
    3. Moratorium on field tax audits until March 3, 2025.

    So what? 07/11/22

Requirements for IT companies to receive tax benefits have been reduced: the main thing about the changes

Accreditation is required to receive benefits, but there is an additional condition: the share of core revenue is at least 70% of total revenue.

An accredited IT company can receive preferential loans at a rate of no more than 3% if, for the period of the loan agreement, it retains at least 85% of jobs and indexes employees’ salaries annually.

    Accreditation also gives:

    1. Simplified hiring of foreign specialists from visa countries, that is, it is not necessary to obtain permission to attract foreign labor. In addition, foreign IT specialists can find a job in an accredited company without a patent or work permit.
    2. Employee benefits, such as military and mobilization deferrals and 5% mortgages.

After being included in the list of accredited IT companies in public services, you can order an extract from the register – this can only be done by legal entities. In addition, in the service, you can check whether an IT company has accreditation without an extract: for this, you need to enter the TIN or company name. This service is available to everyone. So employees of IT companies will be able to understand whether they are eligible for benefits – a deferment from mobilization or an IT mortgage.

Buy those, more bang for your buck

Been buying this for all 3 of my kids. My son had a protein allergy and once he grew to about 1 years old he was finally able to stomach this. My middle child was 10 weeks early and once I started her on this she grew more and more each day. Now on my 3rd baby and it’s the only formula I’ve tried and she loves it. We go through so much formula that it only makes sense to buy the biggest box of it. If you compare this to the Walmart brand you are getting 2 times as much for maybe $10 more! ($16.99 vs. $26.99)! Highly recommend this as I was told by my paediatrician and dietician that they are the same as the name brands and just as good!

Excellent formula at a great price

I very highly recommend Kirkland formula. It is affordable but of high quality and my pediatrician approves- she said all formula meets Health Canada standards so you’re paying for marketing with the big brands. I’ve also read Kirkland is made by a big brand with yellow packaging (not naming names). My baby does well on this formula, is growing well and almost never spits up. It is easy to mix and comes in a huge container.

FINALLY! A formula that works!!

We had gone through literally every single name brand formula on the market for our almost 3 month old, who has a sensitive tummy. We went through many doctors visits and even a couple of midnight visits to the emergency room because her tummy just wouldn’t settle no matter what we did. We were hesitant on trying something “off-brand” with the worry of missing nutrients other formulas had but we tried the Kirkland brand and the only thing we regret is not trying it sooner!! Within 3 days, our baby girl was finally feeling better, much less spit up and having normal bowel movements. I would strongly recommend this to anyone and the price is excellent and way cheaper than brand name.

Highly recommend!

My son got terribly sick with every single formula except this one. It was a life savour, I highly recommend this if your kid is lactose sensitive. All my family members who have had babies all moved to using this stuff.

Same ingredients for a lower price

When I had to start my son on formula we were given samples for a name brand. After a few days it became clear he would need to switch to be exclusively formula fed so we chose to switch to the Kirkland brand formula and not only has it been cheaper but my son tolerates it better than the brand name formula!

Equivalent to Enfamil

Both my daughters have been using the Kirkland brand of formula they use the Yellow bin which has omega and dha. Although there is a slight fish taste to it this is what indicates there is actually omega in the formula. First daughter has developed very well and second daughter is starting on this. Very cost effective

Good quality product.

I use this formula for my 4.5 months old baby. It seems to be of great quality. Also the price of this product is lesser than others but no compromise in quality.

Would buy this again and again

Started both my sons with similac and switched to this formula. It is way more cost effective then similac, or enfamil.
My sons have never had an issue with stomaching this formula.

Great value for the money! My baby loves it.super gentle on his belly. It’s our go to formula now. Can’t argue for the awesome price. I have been using this for 8 months now with a baby who was sensitive to other formulas

I loved this formula. I was really hesitant on using this formula but other moms recommended it to me, and i’m so glad they did. Not only do I get double the amount of formula but it is half the price of other brands! My very picky daughter loved this milk too! I tried to introduce enfamil to her, but absolutely hated it and would not drink it no matter what. She drinks this one, no problem and has caused no issue with her stomach at all. Only issue I have noticed is that formula is more foamy that other brands I have seen. But it has caused no issues, just a difference in how the formula looks when shaken in the bottle.

We supplement our daughter’s diet with Kirkland formula while my wife is at work. My daughter seems to enjoy the taste and guzzles it down heartily. I will admit that the formula does have a bit of an odd odor as others have commented, so it is kind of sad when my little girl loses that sweet, breast-fed baby smell and smells like a formula baby instead.
Ultimately, we settled on this product because it is the most inexpensive one we have found, and that is a huge selling point for my family during these uncertain financial times. However, we don’t feel that we are sacrificing quality and are confident that our baby is getting the nutrition she needs.
Easily Digested
I haven’t noticed any digestive issues. My daughter has regular bowl movements and doesn’t get to be too gassy.
Ease of Preparation
It is quick and easy to prepare, and I haven’t noticed any real clumping issues. It mixes smoothly with water and easily passes through the nipple.

This baby formula was the most reasonably priced around! All three of our children supplemented with formula at some point during their first year of life and after trying the various samples that were sent to the house or received from the hospital, we ended up using Kirkland Formula exclusively. There were no issues with any reaction or intolerance to this brand and it was exponentially cheaper than the other options available. Our pediatrician was so pleased to learn we were using Kirkland to supplement and said it stands up as an excellent product with years of good reviews and successful use for many of the babies seen by the practice. Why spend more on other name brands if you don’t have to? Yes, we were fortunate not to have to deal with reflux or allergies that require the use of prescription formulas. That fact allowed us to choose from a wide array of formulas on the market and this one worked so well we kept coming back to it with each new baby we welcomed!

The kirkland brand formula is cheaper compared to other leading brands, but it matches the specifications set the the FDA and since it is for babies it cannot go wrong. Also, this doesn’t give much foam when mixed with water unlike other brands. We have been using this for the past 3 years for 2 kids and we never had any issues. It is very easy to mix and the powder dissolved very quickly. I would highly recommend this formula. This is available in bigger size so it doesn’t run out quickly and is also cost effective. Make sure to loosen up the powder upon opening a new can. I failed to do this recently and the first batch of formula I made was too concentrated. Lucky for my son, I caught this before he drank more than an ounce or so! After tipping the can back and forth, it loosened up and mixed up perfectly. Overall it is very nice formula. Thank you costco for providing good product for a low price compared to other leading brands.

I started using this formula after switching from the Similac infant formula which gave my babies terrible gas. Now this is still gassier than my breast milk, but it is miles above the Similac. I was first drawn to the price, which is fantastically cheap when you compare it to any of the name brand formulas out there. I have twins and so go through twice the normal amount of formula, and price is something I need to be very conscious of.
Out of all the formulas I have tried these give my babies the least amount of gas, particularly when I let the bottles sit for a few minutes and let the bubbles disappear before I feed it to them. If I add a small amount of gas drops after I initially mix up the formula, then it works even better and my babies have hardly any gas afterwards.
I love the size of the containers, we go through one every 6 days, which is a couple more days than it takes to go through the smaller, more expensive formulas that don’t work as well for us.

My baby had milk allergy issues, he was sensitive to certain formulas, this one was a back up, but still gave him gas. It was easy to mix, just the formula wasn’t right for my son. If you needed a basic formula for a child, this one should work. I think all the store brands carry the same ingredients as the name brands, so it should be comparable to the vitamins and nutrients. It was a whole lot cheaper than the brand names for sure.
Easily Digested
This formula upset my baby’s tummy. He still had gas and some problems digesting it. We had to switch to another formula. If your child isn’t lactose sensitive, maybe it would be okay?
Ease of Preparation
This Kirkland baby formula was easy to mix, but became a bit frothy if we shook the bottle too much. The best way we found was to mix in a separate container and then we poured it into the baby’s bottle after the foam settled down. But of course, that doesn’t help too much when you are on the go…

This formula is the pretty much the same stuff as Similac, my doctor even suggested so. It is a great value for the amount you get and is super easy to make. We would buy several at a time but they would last us awhile since the containers are so large. The sizes you buy a normal grocery store would only last us a week if that. The powder breaks up nicely in water unlike some other powders that I shake and shake and it still is clumpy. I would have preferred that my baby be breast fed but I am happy with this alternative option. I felt that she was getting all the nutrients that she needed to grow healthy.
Easily Digested
My daughter has never had a problem with this formula but she also doesn’t have a sensitive stomach or any sensitivities to milk. For someone that needs generic stuff, this is the best option.
Ease of Preparation
This is super easy to prepare. It dissolves into water very easily and doesn’t leave clumps.

This formula is just as good as all the premium name brand formulas on the market and will save you a ton of money. My daughter was breastfed for the first three months, then I put her on Gerber Goodstart for one month, then I transitioned her to Kirkland formula. She had no problems with the transition. In fact, she started sleeping through the night shortly after starting Kirkland formula. Not sure if that had anything to do with the formula, but I’d like to think so! The only downfall that some people complain about is the amount of bubbles created when shaking the bottle to mix the formula, which happens to not be an issue for my baby. The bubbles can easily be avoided. I like to mix up a large batch every morning, keep it in the fridge and pour into bottles as needed. Using that method, you can avoid bubbly bottles. I’ve used this formula with both my kids and they have never had any gas or constipation issues. The container is much larger than premium brand largest containers, so this means less trips to the store to buy formula. This formula is the best value for you money!

Kirkland Brand Formula is a great alternative to name brand formula. My husband and I started our 1st born out on name brand formula because that’s what the hospital gave us. We used it for the first six months of her life, and we were very happy with the name brand formula, but the price got to be too much. The name brand formula we were using was twice as expensive as the Kirkland Brand.
Easily Digested
The Kirkland Formula is a little bit more frothy than other name brand varieties. Since we started our baby on the Kirkland Formula at 6 months, she has had no problem with digestion, but I would be a little concerned giving it to a new born because it could cause excess gas or spit ups.
Ease of Preparation
The formula is easy to prepare. It is a little bit denser than name brand formula, meaning it does not start mixing in right away, but once shaken, the formula mixes in well. The Kirkland brand uses the standard 1 scoop for every 2 oz.

I am the grandmother of eight, the youngest is just four months. My youngest daughter inlaw had used Similac and Nestle’s Good Start with her first three, the fourth was not able to tolerate those products. He has a problem with reflux and it seemed in his first two months the other products would not agree with his system. She tried the Kirkland Infant Formula when money was a bit tight at the end of the month and in addition to being less expensive, it’s staying down, it’s less “curdling” and less pungent when he does have burp-ups. My grandson also doesn’t have the constipation and gas problems he had before. It mixes quickly and he seems to really like it, so I would say it’s a win-win situation all around!

Dangerous bacteria found in infant formula – NETOLKO.NEWS

Complaints/Issues/Reviews

Costco retailer is recalling baby food, a lactose-sensitive formula sold under its own brand, Kirkland Signature, from the shelves. CBC writes about it.

Enterobacterium Cronobacter was found in the mixture.

In early October, supermarket chain Loblaws also removed President’s Choice baby food from stores due to the same problem.

Infant formula withdrawn from sale

Withdrawn formula sold at Costco throughout Canada.

This recall was reported by the Canadian Food and Drug Administration to be related to President’s Choice.

Costco’s issue concerns two batches. They are:

Infant Formula for Babies Sensitive to Lactose in a 1.36 kg package. Manufacturer trade code (UPC) – 96619 26926 6. Expiration date and expiration code – 2020 NO 05 T05DVBV.

Infant Formula for Babies Sensitive to Lactose in a “double” package (2×1.36 kg).
Trade code – 96619 23600 8. Expiration date and code – 020 NO 05 T05DVBV.

These mixtures should not be used under any circumstances, although they look quite normal and do not emit any foreign smell.

The bacterium Cronobacter can rarely cause serious consequences, including circulatory system problems and damage to the central nervous system, especially in infants.

Documentary “The Church All America Hates (2020) / The Church All America Hates (2020)”

11/01/2020

“God hates America!”, “America is dead!” – the parishioners of the Westboro Baptist Church proclaim to the world, standing on the streets of American cities with posters, the inscriptions on which promise hellish torment and eternal damnation to the atheists. But will the Baptists be able to set someone on the right path if they themselves are hated by all of America?

Megan Phelps was a faithful parishioner of the Westboro Church from childhood, unconditionally believed in its tenets, and revered her grandfather, the founder of the church, Pastor Fred Phelps. But starting to communicate with people on social networks, Megan suddenly realized that the teachings of the church are contradictory, and the lifestyle of her family does not at all contribute to the healthy growth and maturation of herself and her brothers and sisters.

About a creed that made its followers outcasts, about the difficult decision to leave a family that does not accept your free choice, and about how destructive the desire to speak in the name of God can become for a person.

Most Hated Family In America

One of gonzo documentary filmmaker Louis Theroux’s most famous films centers on a family from the Westboro Baptist Church. This radical religious sect in Kansas has launched the websites GodHatesFags.com and GodHatesAmerica.com and promotes intolerance towards gays, lesbians, transgenders, Catholics, Muslims, Jews, Swedes, Irish, Canadians and Dutch. The organization became known in the States after it held a picket at the funeral procession of soldiers who died in Iraq and Afghanistan. The author of the picture spent several weeks with the family of the head of the sect, Fred Phelps, who claims that God is punishing the United States with natural disasters and terrorist attacks for tolerating homosexuality.

Fourteen Days In May

The last days of the life of Edward Earl Johnson, a 69-year-old African-American woman convicted of murdering a police officer and raping a 69-year-old woman, are documented in the film 14 days in May. The prisoner, who spent 8 years on death row, assured until the last moment that he was innocent, and signed the confession under duress. The film crew spent all the remaining two weeks of his life with Johnson, spoke with members of his family, guards and lawyers, and was also allowed even to the place of execution – to the gas chamber.

Visions of the Future, part 2

development, we become not only passive observers of natural processes, but their active participants – which gives us not only unprecedented opportunities, but imposes great responsibility. In the second part of the documentary trilogy, the scientist talks about genetics and biotechnology, the latest developments of which can lead to an incredible increase in life expectancy. How will this affect how we live and what we represent ourselves? Can a full genome sequence lead to genetic apartheid? Michio Kaku gives answers to these and other questions in his documentary.

How Did The Universe Begin?

In less than 30 minutes, legendary British physicist and popular science star Stephen Hawking manages to explain how the universe began. This video is an exemplary example of how to briefly, expressively and easily tell the most complex story, because until the 20th century, mankind considered the Universe as an eternal and static space without beginning or end, where, as the scientist himself says, “nothing ever happens really interesting.”

Apollo Zero

To date, only three countries have been able to send a person even into Earth orbit: the United States, Russia and China – which shows how difficult it is to get there. The Moon is at a distance of about 403,000 km from the Earth. Since the alleged landing of man on the moon, no country in the world has even claimed to advance further than 640 km, and the International Space Station is at a distance of about 300 km. So how were we able to make a sortie two hundred times as long as 1964 years old? The authors of Apollo Zero are trying to find answers to these and other questions that have been asked for more than 50 years, who analyze numerous inconsistencies with mathematical thoroughness, compare facts and draw conclusions about the first manned flight to the moon.

Expelled: No Intelligence Allowed

Best-selling documentary by Nathan Frankowski and Ben Stein addresses issues of current scientific knowledge. Should every fact be an axiom or can it be questioned? Can a real scientist believe in God? Should we present the theory of evolution and the dogmas of Darwinism as the only true ones and teach them in universities? The authors of the film talk to scientists who have been excluded from the scientific community because of their belief in so-called “intelligent design” – one of the directions of creationism, according to which certain features of the universe and life are best explained by an intelligent first cause and could not have arisen due to random processes without conscious control.

Dead people and pets turn into beautiful blue diamonds, and this is how it happens

Posted by Dave Mosher of Business Insider

(sciencealert. com) – When a person dies, cremation is increasingly being used. The practice replaced burial in the United States in 2015 and is expected to account for more than half of all body handling by 2020, according to the Cremation Association of North America.

But instead of storing the ashes of loved ones in an urn or scattering them to the wind, a growing number of bereaved consumers are doing something more unusual: turning ashes into diamonds.

This is possible because carbon is the second most abundant atomic element in the human body, and diamonds are created from crystallized carbon. In recent years, researchers have also improved how diamonds are grown in the lab.

Although at least five companies offer commemorative diamond services, Switzerland’s Algordanza is one of the leaders in the industry with a presence in 33 countries and told Business Insider it sold about 1,000 diamonds in 2016. gems made from the ashes of the dead.

Algordanza also claims to be the only company of its kind to have its own cremation diamond lab, one of only two in the world. (The second is in Russia).

“It gives you the opportunity to keep your loved ones with you forever,” Christina Martoia, spokesperson for Algordanza US, told Business Insider. “We bring joy out of what for many people is a great pain.”

It describes how the company uses extreme heat and high pressure to turn dead people, and sometimes animals, into sparkling gems of all sizes, cuts and colors.

Making a diamond from a deceased person begins with cremation. This process typically leaves between 2.2 kg and 4.5 kg of ash, most of which is carbon.

Martua said Algordanza needs a minimum of 500g of ash. “It’s kind of a magic number where our engineers can guarantee that there will be enough carbon to make a commemorative diamond,” she said.

When the company receives the ash from a customer, a technician places the sample in a special oven to see if there is enough carbon to grow the diamond. If not enough, then the amount of carbon from the lock of hair can make up for the missing amount.

When there is enough carbon, the element is isolated and purified from impurities such as salts. “We use acidic chemicals to remove impurities,” said Martois.

This brings the purity of the carbon in the processed ash to almost 99% or higher.

The remaining 1% contains inclusions such as boron, an element and micronutrient that helps humans (and other animals) with bone growth, wound healing, and immune system regulation.

Boron is an inclusion that gives a rare blue tint to diamonds found in nature, which is why many “commemorative diamonds” also turn blue.

“Diamonds can range from colorless to very deep blue,” Martois said. “The more boron, the richer the blue color.”

When Algordanza processes the ashes, says Martois, “it’s almost impossible to separate the boron from the carbon.” This is because the two elements have the same weight and properties.”

To further refine the carbon to 99.9% and higher, technicians package it in a grow cell that contains iron and cobalt additives to help remove impurities.

This cell also contains a tiny diamond to help the carbon crystallize on its uneven surface, since carbon crystallizes better when it comes into contact with existing diamond.

The final purification step turns the carbon into smooth sheets of graphite, the same kind of carbon found in pencils. Flat microscopic graphite plates are an ideal starting material for the synthesis of diamonds.

Natural diamonds are formed from carbon that attaches to lava tubes about one mile deep in the earth’s crust.

In an effort to replicate this natural environment, Algordanza inserts cells (now packed in graphite) into a plate and sends it to a high temperature high pressure (HPHT) device for growth.

This device can heat the grow cell up to almost 1370 degrees Celsius. She also puts pressure on her to 394,625 kg per square inch.

This is similar to the pressure of the entire mass of the international space station on the dial of a wrist watch, then it is heated to a temperature above the temperature of lava.

Depending on the size of the diamond the customer wants, it can take six to eight weeks in the HPHT graphite machine to crystallize it into a gemstone. “The bigger the diamond, the longer the growing time,” said Martois.

When enough time has passed, the technicians take out the graphite briquette and open it.

Inside, a rough, uncut and unpolished diamond awaits.

Some customers take the rough gemstone, but many prefer to have their commemorative stones cut and polished by a jeweler in Switzerland.

Algordanza prices start at $3,000 for a 0.3 carat diamond. Martoua said the average order is about 0.4 to 0.5 carats, although US customers usually ask for larger diamonds, 0.8 carats.

Orders for diamonds made from human cremation ashes are not the only kind Algordanza receives. “First we got the ashes from the cremation of a German Shepherd, and now we have the ashes from the cremation of a cat,” said Martoua.

    About the Provider

Hugs Kollege Inc – Bronx NY School-Age Child Care

Description: Giggling Guest Childcare started by Debi Hammel in Spokane, Washington in the year 2000. At the time there was only one location and no immediate plans to start another location. Debi continues to manage the capable teams of qualified care givers at each of our two locations. Even though there wasn’t a desire to grow Giggling Guest Childcare rapidly, our reputation for quality childcare with an educational emphasis continued to bring new families. Once suitable alternate locations become available we decided to slowly take on the additional responsibility of replicating what had been working so well at our original location. We now have two childcare centers in Spokane, Washington and we’re loving every minute we get to spend with our little customers!

    Laughing Jack « OTSTRAXA.su

Laughing Jack is a scary story about a mother who discovers that her little son has an imaginary friend.

    LAUGHING JACK

It was a nice summer day, my 5 year old son, James, was playing outside. He was a quiet boy and mostly played with himself. He never had many friends, but he always had a rich imagination. I was in the kitchen feeding our dog Fido when I heard James talking to someone in the backyard. I wonder who he might be talking to. Maybe he finally has a friend?

As a single mother, it is difficult for me to keep an eye on my son, so I decided to go and check on him. James was alone. Was he talking to himself? But I could have sworn I heard someone else’s voice.

“James! Time to go home!” I called.

He came and sat down at the kitchen table.

“James… who were you talking to?” I asked.

    James hesitated for a moment.

“I was playing with my new friend,” he said with a smile.

“Does your friend have a name?” I asked.

James looked at me intently before answering.

    “His name is Laughing Jack”.

“Yes? Strange name,” I said. “What does your friend look like?”

“He’s a clown,” James replied. “He has long hair and a big, conical nose. He has long arms and wide pants with striped socks and is always smiling.”

I realized that my son was talking to an imaginary friend. I guess it’s normal for kids his age to have imaginary friends, especially if they don’t have anyone to play with.

The rest of the day passed uneventfully, and when it got dark I put James to bed. I covered him, kissed him, and turned off the nightlight before closing the door to his room. I was very tired, so I soon decided to go to bed myself. I had a terrible nightmare…

It was dark. I was in some seedy amusement park. I was scared, I walked through endless spaces with empty tents, abandoned rides and playhouses. The place itself looked terrible. Everything was black and white, the prize toys hung in loops, and everyone had evil smiles embroidered on their faces. It seemed that the whole park was watching me, although there was not a single living soul around.

Then, all of a sudden, I heard the music playing. The sounds echoed through the park, mesmerizing. I followed the sounds to the circus tent, almost in a trance, unable to stop my legs from moving forward. It was absolutely dark, the only source of light was a spotlight under the dome of the circus. As I walked into the light, the music slowed down and I found myself singing along to the music, unable to stop.

The music stopped just before its climax, and suddenly the lights came on. They were blinding and all I could see was a small dark shape walking towards me. Then another appeared, and another, and another. There were several dozen of them, and they all came to me. I couldn’t move, my legs were frozen, and I could only watch the eerie shadows approach.

When they got closer, I saw that they were children. Looking closely, I saw that they were all terribly mutilated and mutilated. Some had their bodies cut up, others were horribly burned, and some had their limbs cut off and parts of their bodies, even their eyes! The children surrounded me, clutching at my flesh, they threw me to the ground, tearing me apart.

When the children were killing me, and I began to fall into darkness, I heard only laughter, terrible, sinister laughter.

The next morning I woke up in a cold sweat. After taking a few deep breaths, I looked around and saw several James figurines sitting on my nightstand, facing me. I exhaled, James must have woken up early and put them here. I collected his toys and went to James’ room. However, when I entered his room, I saw that James was still sound asleep. I just shrugged and returned the toys to his box, then I headed to the living room.

After a while, James woke up and I made him breakfast. He was quiet and seemed a bit sluggish, probably not getting enough sleep. I decided to ask him about the toys: “James, dear, did you bring the toys into your mother’s room in the morning?” His eyes flickered up to me for a moment, then back down again.

    “Laughing Jack did it.”

I rolled my eyes and said, “Well, then tell Laughing Jack to keep toys in your room.”

James nodded and finished his breakfast, then he decided to go play in the backyard. I went to rest in the living room and I must have dozed off because I didn’t wake up until a few hours later.

I felt a little anxious. I had to check on James. It’s been over two hours since I last saw him. I went out into the backyard, but James was no longer there. I started to get nervous, so I called him loudly.

    “JAMES! JAMES, WHERE ARE YOU?!”

That’s when I heard a giggle, in the front yard. I rushed through the back gate to the front of the house. James was sitting on the sidewalk. I breathed a sigh of relief and walked over to him.

“James, how many times have I told you to stay in the backyard… James, what do you eat?”

James looked at me, reached into his pocket and pulled out a handful of candies. This greatly alarmed me.

“James, who gave you these candies?”

James just stared at me but said nothing.

“JAMES!” I cried. “Please just tell your mom where you got these lollipops.”

James lowered his head and said, “Laughing Jack gave them to me.”

My heart sank and I knelt down to look into his eyes.

“James, I’m fed up with this Laughing Jack, he’s not real! This is very serious, I need to know who gave you the lollipops!”

I saw tears in my son’s eyes.

“But Mom, Laughing Jack gave me candy.”

I closed my eyes and took a deep breath, James never lied to me, but what he told me was impossible. I made him spit out the lollipop and threw it away with the others. James seemed to be calm. Maybe I’m just taking things too close to my heart. That night I put James to bed as usual and decided to go to bed early myself.

Suddenly, I was awakened by a loud bang in the kitchen. I jumped out of bed and ran down the stairs. When I got to the kitchen, I was horrified. The contents of all the shelves were scattered around the kitchen, and the dead body of our dog Fido hung on a chandelier under the ceiling. Her stomach was cut open and stuffed with hard candies, the same ones that James had eaten that day.

I was quickly snapped out of shock by a scream from James’s room, followed by a crash. I quickly grabbed a knife from the kitchen table drawer and ran up the stairs as fast as a mother can run when her baby is in danger. I burst through the bedroom door and turned on the light. Everything in the room was knocked down and scattered on the floor, my poor son was lying in bed, crying and trembling with fear. He wet himself and a yellow puddle formed on the bedspread.

I grabbed my child, ran out of the house, and ran to the neighbors. Luckily, they haven’t slept yet. They let me use their phone and I called the police. Soon they arrived and I explained what had happened. They looked at me like I was crazy. They searched the house, but found only a dead dog and two trashed rooms.

The officer told me that someone must have broken into the house, done all this and quickly fled when they heard me going up the stairs. I knew it wasn’t true. All doors were locked and not a single window was open. Whoever was in my house, he did not come from outside.

James stayed at home the next day. I didn’t want him to disappear from my sight. I went to the garage and found my old baby monitor and installed it in my room.

“If something happens in his room tonight, I can hear it.”

I went to the kitchen, took the biggest knife and put it on my bedside table.

“Imaginary friend or not, I won’t let anyone hurt my boy.

Night soon fell. I put James to bed. He was afraid, but I promised that I would not let anything happen to him. I covered him, kissed him and turned off the night light. Before closing the door, I whispered to him, “Good night, James, I love you.”

I tried to hold on so as not to fall asleep, but after a few hours, I felt that I was still falling asleep. My baby will be safe tonight and I need to sleep. But as soon as I laid my head on the pillow, I heard a faint noise from the baby monitor I had placed on the bedside table. At first, the noise was like interference, like in a radio. Then it turned into a quiet moan. Maybe James is sleeping like that?

Then I heard him… laughter from my nightmare… this horrible laugh.

I jumped out of bed and grabbed a knife. I rushed to James’ room and flung open the door. I tried turning on the light, but it didn’t come on. I took a step and felt warm, thick liquid under my feet. Suddenly, James’s nightlight lit up, and I was presented with a picture of absolute horror.

James’s body was nailed to the wall, nails were driven into his hands and feet. His chest was cut open wide and his internal organs hung down to the floor. His eyes and tongue were removed along with most of his teeth. I felt sick, I could hardly believe that this was my son.

Then I heard his soft, desperate groan again. James was still alive! My child, my poor child, through such terrible pain continued to cling to life. I ran across the room and vomited on the floor, but my attack was interrupted by a terrible laughter from behind me.

I turned around, still wiping the bile from my mouth, and then the villain responsible for all this horror, Laughing Jack, stepped out of the shadows. He had ghostly white skin and messy, shoulder-length black hair. His piercing white eyes were framed in black circles. A wry smile revealed a row of sharp-edged teeth. And his skin didn’t look like leather at all, more like plastic or rubber. He wore a spotted, black and white clown suit with striped sleeves and socks. His body was ugly, his long arms hung far below his waist, and he moved as if he had no bones at all, like a rag doll.

He let out a disgusting laugh, as if he wanted to tell me that he was pleased with my reaction to the result of his “work”. Then he slowly turned towards James and began to laugh an even more horrible laugh. It was enough to bring me out of my state of terror.

“GET AWAY FROM HIM!” I shouted.

I rushed at the monster, raising the knife above his head, and hit him from top to bottom, but as soon as the knife touched him, he disappeared in a cloud of black smoke. The knife went right through and pierced through James’s still beating heart. Spatters of warm blood fell on my face…

“No… What have I done? My child, I killed my child!”

I fell to my knees and heard the siren of a police car approaching… It got louder and louder…

“My boy, my sweet boy… I promised that my mother would protect you… But I couldn’t… I’m sorry James… I feel so sorry…”

The police soon arrived, finding me in James’s room. I still clutched the knife, stained with the blood of my child. The judgment was swift. I was found not guilty by reason of complete insanity.

I was admitted to a psychiatric hospital for the criminally insane, where I spent the last two months. It’s not too bad here, but right now I’m awake because the music from my nightmare is playing outside the window. I will talk about this in the morning with my orderlies…

    Meeting with Laughing Jack

My name is Connor and I am 35 years old. Don’t call me a psycho after telling this story, I’m really still creepy. I haven’t thought about this story in a very long time.
This happened 25 years ago. I was 10 years old and I had a younger sister – Susie, 6 years old. I loved Susie as I should love my own sister. Since we had no parents, I felt responsible for this little girl. Our parents died in a fire, leaving me and my sister in an orphanage. I can’t complain that we felt bad there, they took care of us, we had friends…
In the orphanage they let us go for a walk at lunchtime – from 4 o’clock to 6 o’clock. We walked on our playground. And not far from the orphanage, on the outskirts of the city, there was an abandoned amusement park.
It has long been empty, overgrown with moss. The main gate of this park was closed with a heavy steel lock. And no matter how hard the curious children and teenagers tried, they could not get into the abandoned park. And then rumors spread that this park was cursed. And although I was small and ten years old, I did not believe in such nonsense. But despite this, I still did not let my Susie go to the amusement park. You never know gopniks or alcoholics … God forbid – maniacs! But in general, Susie was calm and obedient, she did not go far from me anywhere.

It was a normal morning. We all got up at seven in the morning (as we usually got up in the orphanage) and trudged to breakfast. At the table, we talked with our peers (in the orphanage where we were, there were many kids, from 5 to 13 years old). Susie was clutching her favorite toy, a teddy bear, holding a similar teddy lollipop in her hand. This toy was presented to her for the New Year by senior educators. They adored Susie. Firstly, she was cute, and secondly, she was a role model! She named the bear Sosik-Morozik-Konfetkovich (don’t laugh, well, she was still a child! Her fantasy is ****) XD but I liked the name. And what? But it will be possible to screw up. But the bear’s diminutive name SOMETIMES was simple and short – Sosya.
So, hugging Sausie Frost, Susie hummed a song under her breath and waited for breakfast to be brought to her.
I remember that day quite clearly – so I can say with confidence that for breakfast we had rice porridge, compote, and coleslaw. After breakfast, we were taken to a terribly boring exercise. The teachers were touched by looking at Susie, who was doing exercises with Sausik-Frost (no, guys, I can’t pronounce or print his name X without laughing))
After the exercises, we were sent on our own business. Who drew, who sculpted cranks from plasticine, who jumped on a trampoline, etc. Susie took out two sheets of paper and colored crayons, seated Sausik (…) in front of her and put a green felt-tip pen into his hand. She began to hum a song under her breath again and draw a house, grass, me, her and Sosya.
I watched for a while, and then I went with my best friend Casey to play with cars: I was still a child! Time passed unnoticed. We were invited to dinner. For lunch we had pea soup, lemon tea, fish puree and vinaigrette salad. Yes, they fed us there very nutritiously).
After dinner we went to a music lesson. After singing scales and other warm-up songs, the music teacher asked Susie to sing her song about spring. Susie knew this song by heart from the age of four. Her voice was sonorous, gentle and melodic, so the music teacher singled her out in particular. Susie took Sausik-Morozik in her arms and began to sing the song “Spring-spring-brought joy to us.”
And then us – Thank God! – let go for a walk. It was much more fun on the street than in the orphanage. Yes, there were a lot of toys and all sorts of things, but outside we played on the playground. There were slides, swings, all sorts of labyrinths. In winter, they even built a real ice palace there! Susie and her girlfriends and the teddy bear went to the slides, while Casey and I started digging in the sandbox.
The time was already approaching six o’clock in the evening, I began to look through the eyes of Susie among her friends. It’s strange – there were friends, but Susie was not. I was terribly worried and turned to the teacher. Susie has never gone missing before. Everyone started looking for her.
I blamed myself for her loss. After all, I was the only one who played cars with Casey for fifteen minutes when Susie disappeared! By eight o’clock everyone was exhausted. They were about to inform the police when red Susie came out from behind the bushes. I rushed to her and kissing her on the cheeks (and bursting into tears) began to scold and question her. All the teachers were alarmed, and without letting the girl say a word, they dragged her to the orphanage. There they gave her hot tea with cake and cupcakes and began to question her. Susie just smiled happily and said:
    – And I was in the circus.
We were all silent for several minutes. Those few minutes seemed like an eternity to us. Seeing our confusion, Susie shrank and blushed all over.
    – Did I do something wrong? she asked softly, hugging Sosya to her.
    – Where have you been?! – I yelled, – I don’t have to lie!
I was not myself from anger. People, what would you do if your dear person disappeared?! Susie cried
    – I’m not lying! she whimpered. “It was Jack who invited me to the circus… here… here… here’s the ticket.”
She opened her pen and handed us a crumpled red ticket. It had a poster of a rainbow clown with blue eyes and fiery hair, multicolored clothes and a cone for a nose. He was juggling candy in the picture. Under the picture was printed: “Only today!” I looked at the teachers. They examined the paper with boundless curiosity.
    – What else Jack? Mrs. Grace asked.
    – Laughing, – Susie whispered softly, – There he is. Only it’s not as colorful. He is a black and white clown and he is very funny…
Susie giggled as she said that. I knew her well, and I heard something unusual and inexplicable in her giggle…
Mrs. Grace’s tutor took the ticket from Susie’s hands and shook her by the shoulders.
    – Don’t lie to us! How dare you go to who knows where from our children’s home?! Nobody allowed you and you ruled perfectly! she screamed.
Susie kept crying… She said in a plaintive voice:
    – But Jackie said that nothing bad would happen. He said he would bring me in on time. He said no one would notice.
I silently watched Susie. Mrs. Grace released her and sent us into the room.
In our little room, I never said a word to Susie. I was very disgusted by the very idea that Susie had run away to no one knows where with some unknown person. And then it dawned on me.
    – Susan, where did you go? I jumped up to her.
“To an abandoned park,” she said as quietly as possible.
All my fears were confirmed. I was scared. It was impossible not to be scared. I was between a rock and a hard place: if you tell everything to the teachers, they will scold Susie very strongly. But if you don’t talk, then Susie can run away again. I made up my mind. From now on, I will personally walk with her. But the educators – not a word.
The next day has come. During the walk, I noticed that Susie walks around worried. I did not question her, I thought, “She will tell if she wants to.” And she told. I felt her pull on my sleeve. Susie looked at me with a worried look and said,
    – Connor, we need to leave. Urgently.
I didn’t understand her. I just leaned closer, and Susie began to whisper in my ear:
    – Laughing Jackie is waiting for me. We need to go to him.
I was afraid. But Susie looked at me with such a pleading look. .. I couldn’t help but say:
    – Okay. Went.
I knew that if I refused her, Susie would think I was a coward. I did not want to sink in the eyes of my sister.
We carefully made our way through the bars while the caregivers paid no attention to us. I approached the park gates hoping that they would not open, because they had not been opened for over 50 years! I froze in place as Susie easily opened the gate. They creaked disgustingly and let us inside. Susie darted into the darkness. I woke up and started moving. I entered through the gate.
    – Susie… – I called her.
I was walking past abandoned rides. All the slides, the ferris wheels, all the stalls with cotton candy were covered with moss. I got scared and was ready to put it in my pants. And then I was scared to death when I heard the song.

She was subdued, old, and even though there were no words, I recognized her. It was Pop goes the weasel. I sat down on the ground. Susie was nowhere, I was enveloped in this song. It was ringing in my ears!.. Suddenly I saw the light from the spotlights. I woke up and ran towards them. The music was still ringing in my ears, slowing my steps. All these attractions caught my eye, and I thought that I was slowly losing my mind.

The music continued to ring until I reached the big palacti. As I understand it, it was a circus. I cautiously entered the dark tent, and at first I saw nothing. But then I heard Susie laugh. I began to slowly lose consciousness. The last thing I saw was a clown. Black and white clown with lollipops in his hands.

I woke up already in the orphanage. The first thing I thought of was Susie. I sat up in bed and realized that something had happened. The teachers sat next to me and were silent. Susie came up behind me and silently hugged me. I didn’t understand what happened. Why all this mess? I stared inquiringly at the teachers, a bunch of questions swirling in my head. What happened yesterday? What is happening now? Mrs. Grace began to scold me. It seemed that she would even beat me, if not for the other teachers present.
    – …Is it possible?! she yelled.
I didn’t hear her. I silently and stupidly stared at the floor. My thoughts were on yesterday. The caregivers left after two hours, and then it was my turn to yell at Susie. The poor girl covered her face with her hands and silently endured my cries. And then I noticed something. Sausik-Morozik is gone. Instead, Susie had a rag doll in her hands. The doll looked at me with its blue eyes.
I fell on the sofa. The doll smiled. I asked Susie:
    – Where did you get this doll?.. And where is your bear?
    – Laughing Jack really wanted Sausik, – Susie answered timidly, – He liked the plush candy in Sausik’s paws. And he handed me this doll.
I couldn’t believe that Susie had traded her favorite teddy bear for a doll. Moreover… the doll looked kind and cheerful, but there was something in her eyes… the first time Susie giggled, I noticed it in her eyes too… I plopped down on the bed and cried into the pillow.
    – What are you, what are you, Connor? – Susie fussed, – Let’s go to Jackie and ask my Sosya back? ..
    – No!!! I yelled and looked angrily at Susie, screaming hysterically, “I won’t go there again!” And you won’t go there again! Understood me?!
Susie shied away from me and started crying too. Without ceasing to roar, I buried myself in the pillow, praying to God that it all turned out to be just dreams. Unbeknownst to myself, I fell asleep.

…I dreamed of an abandoned amusement park. This song was ringing in my ears again. I walked through the park straight towards the tent with the circus. I went inside.
A barely audible laugh caught my ears. Such a nasty, male laugh. .. I looked around. It was so dark in the tent that no one could be seen. And suddenly… a table appeared in front of me. Large huge table with all the tools. I carefully looked outside the table and gasped. Children hung around the tent. They were mutilated little children. Their toys were nailed to their chests with a nail in their chests. And there was a clown on the table. Black and white clown. He chewed candy in his mouth and laughed, crossing his legs.

I woke up. It was night. I torpedoed to Susie’s bed, she wasn’t there. I jumped out the window in my pajamas and ran towards the amusement park. I didn’t give a fuck, scared or not, I just ran into an amusement park. A strong wind blew. There was no music. I stopped in front of the tent. Walking around it, I entered from the back entrance. The tent was lit by a lamp above. I hid behind a leather wall (well, or what does the tent consist of?) It was light in the tent. Some boards were covered with curtains and mantles. And in the middle stood a table, large, wooden, with tools. I saw Susie. She laughed merrily, brushing reflex tears from her face. I saw a clown. Black and white clown. He offered Susie lollipops, laughed. He had long arms, matted black hair, gray eyes, a cone instead of a nose, and he was dressed in all black and white. He said with a laugh:
    – Let’s play, Susie?
Susie nodded her head and fell silent, looking at the clown with a smile.
I understand it was Laughing Jack. He sat the girl on the table and began to slowly pull off her pajamas.
    – The game is called “Master,” he said. “You don’t need that.” Don’t be afraid, as soon as you and I play, I will return your toy to you.
Looking at his kind and affectionate smile, Susie took off her pajamas, put the doll away and remained in her panties. I closed my eyes and covered my ears with my hands.
And he did the right thing.
Susie’s heart-rending scream rang out. I couldn’t take it anymore and opened my eyes.
Jack tied chains around Susie’s arms and legs to a plank lying on the table and gagged her mouth with a rag. Then he leaned on the table and began to think.
    – What to do with you? he thought.
And suddenly he smiled. He took a scalpel and cut a thin line into Susie’s arms. She tried to scream, but the nasty rag interfered with her. Laughing Jack parted Susie’s skin so that the meat was visible, and the guilt rolled out. To his own laughter, Laughing Jack cut off one end of the vein at one and the other vein and began to tie bows. I should have been throwing up. I closed my eyes.
The Laughing One seems to have done the same with the other hand. Then he forcibly opened Susie’s mouth and began to push glass into it.
    – Swallow, swallow! he laughed.
    I silently cried.
Laughing Jack made Susie swallow glass by cutting her neck. Susie’s mouth filled with blood, cutting off the path to air and oxygen.
    – Oops, did I hurt your neck? How sad that the glass did not reach your stomach … – Jack was upset, but then his face lit up with a joyful smile. He took a scalpel and two paperclips. Having cut open the baby’s belly and secured it from above and below with paper clips, he pushed her belly with glasses and began to beat on it with a hammer.
I began to fight in hysterics, but suddenly… everything was quiet. I looked up. Laughing Jack took a nail and nailed a rag doll to the back of Susie’s head. Then he picked up the plank on which Susie’s lifeless body was nailed and hooked her up. Then all the robes and pillowcases flew off the rest of the planks and I froze. I felt vomit coming up to my throat… The bodies of mutilated children hung on hooks, on boards. I turned around slowly. Laughing Jack stood over me with a smile on his face. He wiped his hands on a towel (his hands were covered in blood) and putting a lollipop into his mouth, he stared at me with a look full of curiosity.
    I sat unable to move.
    – Who are you? – Laughing Jack finally asked, – Guest? And why don’t you pass, I would give you tea to drink.
I started to run. The last thing I heard from this killer was a cheerful shout:
    – Hey, baby, are you leaving already? Well, okay.
