GET STARTED NOW

Parents are offered flexibility in scheduling. You may schedule your children part time (as little as 2 – 1/2 days) or full time (5 full days). Parents need to enroll their children for specific days/times in advance and are responsible for payment of those days/times regardless of absence. You may not trade your scheduled days. We require advance notice in writing for any schedule change. Schedule changes are based on availability. The exception to this is “drop-in” care. In this instance the parent can call Adventures In Learning to see if there is any space available on a weekly/daily basis. Tuition will be based on the drop-in rate (see the fee schedule). Drop-in care is based on availability. Children must be registered in advance and must comply with the Department of Health and Community Care Licensing requirements with regard to enrollment forms being complete, physical exams and inoculations.

Children’s Home & Aid | Scott Early Learning Center

The Scott Early Learning Center serves children (6 weeks-5 years) from families of all income levels. It uses Creative Curriculum® to enhance the physical, emotional, and cognitive growth of children through play and hands-on experiences. Social skills, self-regulation, and emotional development are just as important as reading and math readiness in successfully preparing each child for school. Each classroom individualizes lesson plans and the quarterly parent-teacher meetings allow teachers and parents to discuss their child’s development and set goals for the future. The center strives to keep parents involved through “family nights” and ongoing communication between classroom staff and parents. The Raising A Reader* Program is now available at the Center.
The Scott Early Learning Center is accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) and the Council on Accreditation of Services for Families and Children (COA). The center has also achieved and maintained the Gold Circle of Quality through ExceleRate Illinois.

Preschool for All

The center offers Pre-School for All, a free half-day instructional program based on the Creative Curriculum®, funded by the Illinois State Board of Education. The program provides instruction to 40 children aged 3-5, who are at-risk for academic failure. The 180-day preschool program runs from August-May and is integrated with the center’s full-day, full-year child care programs, comprehensively addressing the needs of at-risk children. Eligibility is determined via questionnaire and a brief developmental screening.

Early Head Start

Early Head Start (EHS) is a federally-funded, community-based program for low-income families with infants, toddlers, or pregnant women. Its mission is simple: to enhance the development of very young children, promote healthy prenatal outcomes for pregnant women, and promote healthy family functioning.

Head Start

Head Start offers educational, health, disability, mental health, nutrition and social services to children from birth to 5 years of age. Educational services are designed to meet the child’s individual interests. Learning experiences are planned to foster total growth and developmental skills. Children participate in music, art, language, literacy, dramatic play, math, science, and computer activities.

Natalia Goncharik
Mom on maternity leave, deputy head of the main activities of the State Educational Institution “Ratomsky Nursery Garden”

With the birth of a baby, worries are added to the family. And it’s not just about everyday life. After all, you need to settle the issue with documents and do not forget to resolve the issue with the definition of a preschool institution, because kids grow up so fast 😊

What needs to be done for this?

#1
Get in line for kindergarten. The earlier the better. To do this, you need a passport of one of the parents and a birth certificate of the child. With these documents, one of the parents applies to the “One Window” service of the administration of his district, where he writes an application. Next, the parent receives a sheet with the queue number and phone numbers where you can contact with questions. You can queue up in several areas.

#2
When queuing, you need to indicate the number of the desired kindergarten. You can enter multiple numbers. If you are afraid of making the wrong choice, look for information about kindergartens on the Internet, chat with local mothers.

#3
Then comes the waiting period, which lasts 1.5-2 years. Admission to groups for the next academic year traditionally begins on April 1. And children begin to visit the garden in late August-early September. In the spring of that year (in March-April), when you plan to send your child to a kindergarten, you need to call the Department of Education or the head of the kindergarten and clarify whether your child is in kindergarten. In the middle of the year, you can get into the garden, but only if there are free places in it. Those. if a child turns 3 years old in the middle of the school year, it is better to go to kindergarten from September. Since in the middle of the year, most likely, they will look for a garden in which there are free places, and not where you want.

#4
You heard the cherished: “Yes, your child goes to the garden.” It’s time to get acquainted with the head of the kindergarten and ask all your questions. Check if there are adaptation groups in the kindergarten. Classes in such groups in the future help the baby to quickly socialize and get used to the preschool institution painlessly.

Usually the reception day at the head of the kindergarten is Wednesday afternoon.

#5
Don’t miss your chance. The fact that you have been accepted into the kindergarten is additionally notified by phone. Therefore, in the application, when queuing, indicate several phones. And given that the call can be missed, it is better to monitor the situation yourself and call the administration or manager. As soon as you are confirmed that the child is on the lists, you need to get a referral from the department of early childhood education of the Department of Education of the administration of your district.

The referral is valid for 15 days, during which you must submit it to the kindergarten.

#6
It’s time to start getting your medical certificate. To do this, you need to contact the clinic at the place of residence (or a private medical center). It is not necessary to formally refer to this procedure.

Caregivers and the pediatric nurse need to know everything about your baby's health, possible allergic reactions and chronic illnesses.

#7
Take the documents to the kindergarten. The enrollment of a child in a kindergarten is carried out by the head of kindergarten
upon the provision of the following documents by the parents:

  • referral issued by the Department of Education;
  • parental statements;
  • medical certificate of the child’s health.

To enroll in a sanatorium group, it is additionally necessary to have the conclusion of a medical advisory commission (issued by the clinic where the child is observed). For enrollment in a special (with severe speech disorders, integrated) group, it is additionally necessary to have the conclusion of the medical-psychological-pedagogical commission (issued by the Center for Correctional and Developmental Education and Rehabilitation (CCROiR).

Note
The arrival of a child in kindergarten is an important event for the whole family. To make adaptation easy:

  • tell your child what a kindergarten is, who is there and what the children are doing there.
  • create a positive attitude.
  • If you have questions or doubts, you can always talk to the teachers, kindergarten management or specialists from the education department.
    • With all my heart I wish you and your child bright everyday life in kindergarten!

      Basic legal documents in the system of preschool education

      • Code of the Republic of Belarus on Education;
      • Law of the Republic of Belarus of November 19, 1993 No. 2570-XII “On the Rights of the Child”;
      • Educational standard “Preschool education”;
      • Early childhood education curriculum;
      • Model Curriculum for Early Childhood Education;
      • Guidance letter of the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Belarus (published every year)

      💬 Q&A

      Can my child attend preschool after graduation and until 31 August?
      At the request of the parents, the child can attend preschool during the summer. Often, on the basis of groups for future students, they organize a camp or unite groups. For example, in our garden, the children could walk until the renovation at the end of July. After the renovation in August, the kids were already coming for adaptation and, unfortunately, there were no more places for the “first-graders”.

      Is it possible to send a child to kindergarten in the middle of the year?
      In the middle of the year, you can send your child to kindergarten, but only if there are free places in it. And these places, unfortunately, are extremely rare.

      What documents are needed to enroll a child in kindergarten? Registration of mom, dad is needed for this?
      Registration or registration does not matter. To enroll in a kindergarten, you need: a passport or other document proving the identity of the legal representative of the child and a birth certificate of the child.

      Is there an age of the child after which they must find a place in the garden?
      There is no such age limit, because pre-school education is not compulsory in our country. Here you can consider the option of visiting not the nearest garden, but the one in which there are places.

      Tell me another moment, from the moment the child is enrolled in a group in the kindergarten, does the mother lose half of the child allowance or not? (it just happened 20 years ago, but how is it now?)
      No, when enrolling in kindergarten, the allowance is retained in full. But if the mother goes to work for more than 0.5 rates or opens an individual entrepreneur, then the benefits will be only half.

      If a child turns 6 in the summer but does not go to school, should he be left in the garden. And, if possible, what document regulates this.
      Such a document is the Education Code. According to the Code, the child can stay in the kindergarten for another year, until the age of 7, according to honey. testimony or at the request of a legal representative (parents). An important clarification: the sooner you voice your desire to leave the child after 6 years in the kindergarten, the easier it will be for the head to plan the occupancy of the groups for the next year.

      A child at the end of September 3, is it possible to get into the garden at 2.7, for example? Or only from September you can start walking?
      There are very few chances to get into 2.7 among the academic year. But find out by the availability of places in your garden.

      Child 2.4, since August we are already going to the kindergarten for adaptation. The question is. The child knows how to do everything (eat, dress himself, etc.), but categorically refuses to go to the potty. There is still time to teach until August, but experiences are still present. How is this issue resolved in the garden?
      Here I will answer as a mother: summer is coming and this is the best time to remove the baby’s diaper and let him explore his body and its needs. And in the garden, this is decided in an individual conversation with the teacher. In my experience, no one has ever refused a diaper insurance for sleep.

      How do you know if a garden is good? Some markers? I want to avoid situations when caregivers are on their phones during a walk or do not look after children during meals. What questions to ask the manager at the meeting and what is important to pay attention to.
      Dear mothers, a garden is not only a building. First of all, this is a well-coordinated work of the team. Find out how staffed the staff of teachers is, is there a psychologist, speech therapist, music director, head of physical education. education. Pay attention to how complete the group is, whether there are toys, books, special equipment. corners, how playgrounds are equipped on the street. And of course, if possible, talk to the teacher. And if you have any questions, please contact the deputy or head.

      Tell me, please, how can a child be enrolled in a sanatorium-type kindergarten? Do you need a referral from a pediatrician or other documents?
      Children are enrolled in a sanatorium-type kindergarten for medical reasons based on the conclusion of the medical advisory commission (issued by the clinic where the child is observed).

      Is it possible to take a child to the garden for 4 hours, before daytime sleep? For example, have breakfast at home, give an afternoon snack with you, and pick it up for lunch? And do they take a child to the garden who does not have all the vaccinations?
      In the absence of vaccinations, the child is taken to kindergarten. You can’t bring food with you. You can also drive for 4 hours, if it does not violate the regime moments. (That is, for example, you are not late for classes and do not pick up your child in the middle of class).

      I want to send my child to a kindergarten from the age of 1.5, but when registering, they said that they would not take him until 2 years old. Is it like that everywhere?
      Yes, everywhere. There are groups in several kindergartens where they take from 1 year old (for example, in Pervomaisky and Frunzensky districts of Minsk). Check with your local government to see if there are such groups and how to join them.

How to get to the desired kindergarten

Contributions for kindergartens

You can do the following: we all know very well that in our country there is a very big problem with the availability of vacant places in kindergartens and it is very difficult to get there. This is skillfully used by the heads of children’s institutions, each time introducing more and more reasons for the monetary contributions of the parents of the children. And parents dutifully carry the money, because there is no other way out.
So, it is with these contributions that the child’s visit to the kindergarten begins. In order for your child to go to the desired kindergarten, you may be required starting from 5 and ending with 30 thousand rubles , it all depends on the region.
This is all very sad and a frightening trend. And the worst thing is that the parents themselves encourage this trend.
But that’s not all. If you still managed to send your child to a kindergarten without various initial contributions, then in the future you will still expect various cash fees for various needs of the kindergarten and preparation for school.

Documents required for admission to the desired kindergarten

In any case, you will need to submit certain documents to register your child in a preschool. So, after the birth of your baby, you will receive a birth certificate . And now, just right, it’s time to enroll your child in the desired kindergarten. On July 1, 2006, a new procedure for enrolling children in kindergartens was introduced. Now, instead of going to the parents directly to the head of the kindergarten they are interested in, they need to go to a special committee for staffing preschool institutions in the district (for example, a new procedure for enrolling in kindergartens has been introduced in Moscow). In order not to waste time in vain, you need to familiarize yourself with the schedule, because commissions do not work every day.
The following documents will need to be presented to the committee:

  1. Child’s birth certificate ;
  2. Passport details of one of the parents;
  3. If there are benefits – document that confirms them.

Your personal presence in the commission is not required, the main thing is the presence of your passport, so you can ask one of your relatives or friends to enroll your child in a kindergarten, or make an appointment via the Internet.
There is one caveat: it is necessary to present the passport of only ONE of the parents. Therefore, it is better to present the passport of the parent, , who is registered in the same area as the kindergarten , in which you want to enroll the child. Of course, you should be recorded in any case, since the recording takes place at the place of actual residence, but still there will be fewer questions and you will deal with it faster.

Benefits

Since October 1, 2010, the list of benefits for admission to kindergarten has undergone a number of significant changes. This happened in accordance with the order of the Moscow Department of Education “On confirmation of the procedures for staffing state educational institutions that implement the main general educational program of preschool education, the system of the Moscow Department of Education.”
Now, first of all, children are admitted to kindergartens whose parents in the Russian Federation do not have permanent registration . When enrolling in a kindergarten, the children of mothers, students, children of the unemployed, twin children, children of internally displaced persons and refugees lost their right to benefits.
And there was also a gradation of benefits: preferential, extraordinary and priority right admission of a child to a kindergarten.
So, the priority right is given to:

  1. Children of teachers and other employees of public preschool educational institutions.
  2. Children of single mothers.
  3. Children whose siblings already go to preschool groups of this institution, with the exception of a situation where the profiles of the institution do not correspond to the health status of the child admitted to it.

Extraordinary rights vested in:

  1. Children of judges.
  2. Orphans, children transferred to other families of citizens for adoption, guardianship.
  3. Children whose parents are orphans and children left without parental care.
  4. Children of residents who were exposed to radiation as a result of the catastrophic situation at the Chernobyl nuclear power plant.
  5. Children of prosecutors and investigators of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Prosecutor’s Office.

The priority right to enroll in kindergartens are:

  1. Children from large families.
  2. Children of police officers.
  3. Children of police officers who died in connection with the performance of official activities, or who died before the expiration of one year of dismissal from service as a result of a concussion (wound), a disease that was received during the service. Also, the children of police officers who, as a result of their official activities, received bodily injuries, excluding the possibility of further service for them.
  4. Disabled children and children from a family in which one of the parents is considered disabled

Please note that the list of benefits in each city may vary slightly, as benefits are determined by the city administration, based on currently existing federal laws.
Our advice to you, even if you have benefits, it’s still better do not delay the submission of documents , because there are also a lot of beneficiaries, and a corresponding queue is also formed among them.
