Class Offerings

2, 3 & 4 year old classes are offered. The 4’s class meets on Mon/Wed or Tues/Thur. from 9:00 am till 1:30 pm. Four’s classes bring a lunch from home. Lunchtime is shared in the classroom as a class. The 3’s class can choose from Mon/Wed meeting from 9:00 am-12:00 noon OR Tues/Thurs meeting from 9:00 am-1:30 pm with a lunch from home and a quiet time with a nap mat from home.

Our 2’s class meets on Mon/Wed from 9:00-12:00 OR Tues/Thurs from 9:00 am-1:30 pm with a lunch and nap mat brought from home.

The PLC class year begins in August and ends in May. In general, the PLC follows the Bowling Green City Schools calendar.

Fees

Each student pays a non-refundable registration fee of $100.00. This is a one-time fee that includes the cost of supplies.

Fees for the school year: 

$145 per month tuition for the 4’s class.  

$120 per month for the 3’s class meeting on Mon/Wed.

$145 for the 3’s class meeting Tues/Thurs.

$130 for the 2’s class meeting on Mon/Wed, &

$155 for the 2’s class meeting on Tues/Thurs.  

Tuition is paid on the 1st of the month, August through May.

Our philosophy

As a ministry of The Presbyterian Church, the PLC seeks to provide a safe, nurturing, Christ-centered educational environment where children and their families feel a sense of support, unity, and acceptance. Our classes are intentionally small (6:2 for 2 year olds, 8:2 in the 3’s class and 10:2 in the 4’s class) to enable the teachers to focus more on the individual needs and strengths of each child. The PLC was created to give preschool children the best possible start as they begin their school years. Our program was developed to fill a need for high quality Christian preschool education in our community. At the PLC, children flourish as they experience the joy of learning in a warm and caring place.

 

Our PLC teachers are one of our most important assets. Their most important attribute is an understanding and appreciation for young children and how they learn. We hire the most qualified teachers available. Our teachers have Bachelors Degrees or beyond, as well as experience teaching in public and/or private schools. They continue to attend conferences and classes to enhance their skills.

The Warren County Public Schools Preschool Program serves 3-4 year old children from all 15 elementary schools who meet eligibility criteria. The goal of our program is to empower each student to communicate effectively, make responsible choices, develop critical thinking skills and solve problems in preparation for kindergarten and school success.

 

 

Each of our sites has received a 5 Star Rating through the Kentucky All STARS Quality Rating System and WCPS was recognized as the first 5 Star District in the state. Five of our classrooms have earned distinction as a Classroom of Excellence, the highest honor that can be awarded to a preschool classroom. All of our preschool teachers are certified in Early Childhood Education and Special Education are dedicated to providing students with a safe, comfortable learning environment where they are challenged through a rigorous, standards based curriculum which promotes learning through exploration and play. 

 

 

Through collaboration with the United Way, the Community Early Childhood Council, and the KY Governor’s Office of Early Childhood, we are able to extend our reach to meet the needs of even more children and families. Programs supported by these collaborations include Born Learning Academies, the Dolly Parton Imagination Library, the Community Early Learning Fair, and our Preschool Partnership Grant with The Foundry.

Feeding your pet and buying toys is not enough to take good care of your pets. Domestic cats and dogs need vitamins, a balanced diet, vaccinations, and protection against parasites. Sunny and many-sided Miami is visited annually by up to 14 million tourists from all over the world, many come with their children.

Workingmama was told about where to go with a baby in Miami by the Miami-Mama company that organizes and supports childbirth in the USA. The most interesting amusement parks and amazing natural parks are in our review.

1. Orlando Parks

Orlando is a famous entertainment city where dreams come true. Magical Disney World parks with two large water parks and thrilling Universal rollercoaster rides await you 365 days a year. Stunning scenery, live concerts, dancing fountains and much more! Most of the attractions are designed in 5D format.
Visiting each of the parks is a real adventure, which usually takes a whole day. If a trip to Orlando coincided with major American holidays – Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas – then it makes sense to take an express ticket at the box office, which will provide a quick pass to the attractions.

Ticket price: about $100 for one day per person. The price for an express ticket varies from $150 to $200 depending on the day of the week. There are special packages that include tickets to the parks and a hotel room at the park, the price depends on the number of days, parks and family members.

2. Miami Aquarium

At the Miami Seaquarium, kids and adults alike can enjoy spectacular performances with dolphins and sea lions jumping out of the water, stingrays, manatees, sea turtles and crocodiles. 20 smart questions to ask at the end of your next job interview

Job interviews aren’t just a chance for your prospective employer to get to know you – they’re also a chance for you to get to know the organisation and people you’re hoping to be devoting half of your waking hours to.

But the chance to ask questions usually comes at the end of an interview, which means that the questions you ask can have a huge impact on how your interviewers remember you.

So choose your questions wisely!

We asked Talent and Attraction Specialist at the Benevolent Society, Aoife Brady, for her perspective on some of the best questions for candidates to ask at the end of a job interview.

“The best questions I’ve experienced as an interviewer are ones that show the candidate is interested in the role and want to check the opportunity is the right fit for them as a person,” Brady says.

So what makes a good question? Here are 20 of the best ones to ask at the end of the interview for your next ethical job:

1. What do you personally like most about working for this organisation?

People like to talk about themselves, and interviewers are no exception – Brady says it’s her favourite question. Probing interviewers about this can create a sense of camaraderie, invite openness and give you a first-hand insight into the pros and cons of the workplace.

2. What do you find most challenging about working for this organisation?

As above, but even more revealing!

3. How would you describe your organisation’s culture?

What would it be like to work in the organisation on a daily basis? And what sort of policies are in place to encourage staff wellbeing?

Can you tell me about the kind of supervision you provide?

“This is a great question for social and other community workers to ask” Brady says. Getting good quality supervision is critical for social workers to reflect on their practice, develop their expertise and provide high-quality service to clients,”

5. What have past employees done to succeed in this position?

“This is a great question – even better if it’s asked against current employees,” Brady says.  “It sets the candidate out as a high achiever as they are looking at what they need to succeed and hopefully achieve positive outcomes for clients.”

6. What does a typical day look like in this role?

Want to show you’re enthusiastic and gain a clearer picture of what the job entails day-to-day? “This is a good question for recent graduates or those new to the sector or the level of role, as it helps the candidate confirm they are interested in the role,” Brady says.

What type of employee tends to succeed here, and what qualities are the most important for succeeding here?

This question sheds light on whether the organisation has a clear idea of who they want to employ in the role. Hopefully, the ideal candidate looks a lot like you – and if you feel like you’ve missed something they mention in response, you can always email the interviewer later to reiterate how well you think you’ll fit in.

8. How do you help your staff grow professionally?

This shows you’re interested in staying – and growing – in the role. And also tells you if and how the organisation invests in its staff.

9. How do you respond to staff conflicts?

Another great insight into the organisation’s culture, and a way to show you know that dealing well with conflict is an important part of any high-functioning workplace.

10. Will I have the opportunity to meet my potential manager or colleagues during the interview process?

Brady says asking about the team you’ll be working with is important – so an answer of ‘no’ might be a concern for you.

11. How do you evaluate success in this role?

You’ll get an idea of what it means to do the job well, and whether the organisation’s values align with yours.

12. How is your organisation addressing challenges in this field?

Questions that tackle the problems and challenges specific to a role, or the procedures of the organisation itself, show real initiative, according to Brady. “For example, I love it when a candidate [for a role working with children or families] asks us about our resilience practice framework,” she says.

13. What would you expect me to have achieved after 6 or 12 months in this role?

It’s great to know what the expectations are of you before you start. But it’s also nice to know if the organisation is organised enough to have thought about what they want from a new staff member before they begin interviews.

14. Is this a new position? If not, why did the previous person leave?

While it might be uncomfortable to ask, asking this shows you’re on the ball, and interested in how the organisation works. Knowing if the person in the role before you was fired, promoted or left of their own accord is valuable to know before you dive into the same position.

15. What new initiatives or changes are on the horizon for the organisation?

Change is a constant in most community organisations. Mergers, new funding, funding cuts, new leadership – these are perennial parts of many NFP organisations. It’s good to know just what’s in store for your first months in a new job.

16. Is there anyone else at the organisation you’d like me to meet with?

Gain a better idea of how much the organisation values teamwork and collaboration, as well as potentially determining for how many more interviews in the recruitment process to come.

17. Is there anything else I can do or provide to help you make your decision?

Brady says this is a solid question – “it shows the candidate is switched on,” as well as showing that you’re confident and enthusiastic.

18. Is there anything we haven’t yet covered that you think is important to know about working here?

A sort of ‘catch-all’ question that wraps up the interview nicely, this could answer questions you hadn’t thought to ask.

19. Do you have any hesitations about my qualifications or experience?

Asking this could place you in a vulnerable position – Brady says it also “puts the interviewer on the spot” – but it shows you’re confident enough to discuss and address your weaknesses.

20. What are the next steps in your recruitment process before you can make an offer?

“This is a good ‘next steps’ question – great for a candidate to ask last as it closes up the interview,” Brady says.

Finally, there’s the question of how many of these questions to ask. Don’t ask them all!

There’s no perfect number of questions you should ask, but more than one is usually good. Aoife Brady says candidates should always ask at least two or three questions.

And if that’s not enough to really find out all that you want to know, just check with the interviewer and they should be happy to tell you how many questions they have time to answer.

In my experience, that blunder is due to either lack of preparation, or the stress of the interview. How do you set yourself up for success during the hiring process? Keep in mind that the best interview questions to ask a hiring manager are the ones that emerge naturally from the conversation. You may find it helpful to jot down notes that can prompt questions to ask in an interview. Brainstorming beforehand and coming in with a few prepared questions can be effective, as well.

I want you to end the interview during the job search in a powerful and impactful way.  Asking the HR manager questions should be a two way street and will give insight into the company culture. Here are some sample questions and job tips to inspire your own brainstorming session.

What is the history of this position?

This is an important question to ask hiring managers during the interview process because if you are offered the new job, you will have to work in the environment affected and shaped by your predecessor.

Perhaps this opening was recently created to support company growth. If that is the case, ask a follow-up question about who owned the responsibilities up to this point, and how the duties will be transitioned.

If you are interviewing for a position left vacant by someone’s departure, get a sense for what happened. Why did the predecessor leave the job? Was he or she promoted or internally transferred? If the predecessor left the company, ask about the circumstances.

On the same note, it is usually fair game to clarify whether the company is considering internal candidates for the position.

2. What about this position is most important? How does it support management and serve direct reports?

This is an important and good question to ask in a job interview because it can help you get insight into the new position and how it fits into the network of the company. Who will you support? Who will you supervise and guide? What is their management style or working style? What skills are critical for success?

3. What type of accomplishments would you expect in the first six months?

All too often, job descriptions present routine tasks and responsibilities. Asking about specific performance expectations and accomplishments can allow you to tailor the conversation to demonstrate that you’re the ideal candidate for the position. It also shows your commitment to adding value.

4. How would you measure my success, and what could I do to exceed your expectations?

I like this question because it addresses expectations in concrete terms. Beyond stock descriptions of good communication and analytical skills, what does excellence look like for that position?

5. Which part of the position has the steepest learning curve? What can I do in order to get up to speed quickly?

For some jobs, learning the technology or the internal company procedures is the most challenging aspect of coming on board. For others, it is about understanding the human network. Any guidance on how to speed up the learning process and make you effective and productive quicker can give you a significant advantage.

6. What are the expectations about managing workflow?

Virtually every company has enough work to keep everyone busy 24 hours a day, seven days a week. In practice, everyone gets to go home at the end of the day. How do you know when you are done for the day? What are the expectations around working on weekends and responding to emails outside the normal working hours?

7. How is the feedback process structured?

Asking this question in an interview has been critical for me as a candidate. Performance feedback is important and is how humans get better. Excellence and mastery have always been important to me, and I am aware that they are impossible without knowing how and when to ask for regular feedback. Does this company limit its feedback cycle to the annual reviews? Does the hiring manager make it a priority to deliver just-in-time acknowledgment and suggestions for improvement?

Does the company offer formal or informal mentoring and coaching to boost your career potential? Does it invest in continued education or professional training to advance your career? Great companies want to hire people who are dedicated to personal and professional growth. Show your hiring manager that continued development is essential in the job market and is important to you.

9. What is the most challenging part of your job? What is your favorite part of your job?

Your hiring manager’s job is different from the one you are interviewing for. However, insight into his or her biggest challenges and favorites can offer a glance into the support and assistance you can offer.

10. How did you get to your role?

Asking deeply personal or intrusive questions won’t get you high marks on the interview. However, most professionals enjoy sharing their career journey. Ask what first attracted the hiring manager to this company and what the typical career path has been like.

11. Do you have the tools and resources to do your job well?

Asking this question at the end of an interview can give you insight into the challenges the hiring manager has in doing his or her job. Resources trickle down, so if the hiring manager is pressed for time, dealing with an unusually tight budget, or is short on human capital, you will be affected as well.

12. Do you feel that your opinions count?

Having an opportunity to contribute is one of the key indicators of job satisfaction and team performance. If your hiring manager feels heard, appreciated, and valued for his or her input, chances are the same will translate into your position.

13. Is there anything I have said that makes you doubt I would be a great fit for this position?

Asking this question at the end of an interview can feel terrifying. After all, you are asking whether there is any reason why the hiring manager wouldn’t want to extend you an offer. However, if you have the courage to ask this, you stand to gain a better sense of the next steps in the hiring process and an opportunity to address any reservations that the hiring manager might have about your candidacy while you still have his or her attention.

Having considered some of the questions that can put you in the best light and close the interview on a high note, here is a short list of questions that you should never ask in an interview.

Bonus: Questions you should never ask during an interview

  • Information that can be found through a simple Google search. Interview questions such as, “What does your company do?” or “Who is your competition?” make you look like you did not do your research and are not serious about your candidacy.
  • Gossip. If you have heard something through the grapevine that makes you doubt the company’s financial strength, ask your question in a non-confrontational way. Instead of, “Why are you about to lay off 1,000 employees next month?”, ask the potential employer or hiring manager for his or her opinion about how well positioned the company is for the future.
  • Pay, raises, and promotions. All of that will be discussed as part of the offer and salary negotiations during the interview process.  It’s best to avoid questions that make you look too cocky, or paint the picture of someone who makes the decision based primarily on money.
  • Background checks. Assume that the company will run a background check as part of the pre-offer due diligence. Asking this question makes you look like you have something to hide.
  • Email or social media monitoring. Assume that the company monitors network usage in some way. The internet has a long memory and written comments have a way of getting around. Play it safe and don’t use the company’s network in ways that can make you look unprofessional.  
  • Deeply personal or invasive questions. You don’t want to make the interviewer feel uncomfortable or defensive.

How to prepare for an interview

It is a mistake to think that an interview begins with an exchange of pleasantries. Before meeting with a company employee, it is better to do a little homework.

  1. Remember the job title and company . An especially important point if this is one of many interviews for you.
  2. Print summary . An HR will most likely have a resume, but such reinsurance will show your attention to detail. If you don’t need it, no big deal.
  3. Prepare questions about the company . What to ask, we will tell below.
  4. Find out route . If you have an interview in the office, find out in advance how to get to it.
  5. Choose the right clothes .
  6. Don’t forget to bring your passport . If you are invited to a company office, it is possible that you will need a grounds pass. Usually HRs talk about the need for a document, but it’s better to play it safe.

How to dress for an interview

A study by psychologists Janine Willis and Alexander Todorov from Princeton showed that a tenth of a second (!) Is enough to form the first impression of a stranger. [2] Don’t waste your time: there will be no second chance to make a first impression.

“The adequacy of the situation is very important. Extremes are always alarming: both slovenliness, and vice versa, excessive pretentiousness. For example, a strong smell of perfume can create a negative impression.”

“I don’t see a direct connection between the formal suit and the level of professionalism. Of course, when a meeting with a client or a call is planned, you need to look neat and more restrained. Exactly without wrinkled clothes, stains, groomed nails. The requirements for the applicant are approximately the same, but there are no special regulations.

“We always pay attention to the appearance of the candidate, because in a sense this is also the hallmark of the applicant. Plus, the appearance can immediately tell how the candidate will fit into the corporate culture of the company.

However, if our expectations from the appearance are not justified, for example, a candidate for a director-level position arrived in jeans, we ask clarifying questions about what dress code is adopted in his current company, what dress code the candidate prefers. “It is important to understand that covid has made its mark. Now Zoom interviews, Skype interviews have become even more of a practice than before. Accordingly, the requirements for appearance are often reduced. There are pretty basic things, from the series if the candidate did not wear a T-shirt for a Zoom interview, then this will be a trigger for me. These stories are not just from the head, these are real stories. But there are probably no strict requirements that one must be in a shirt now. And I wouldn’t show them.”

The majority of interviewed professionals pay attention to the neatness and appropriateness of applicants’ clothing. At a minimum, interview items should be clean, tidy and ironed.

How to overcome anxiety before an interview

Anxiety and anxiety are a normal human reaction to the unknown. And the interview for the majority is just terra incognita.

It is difficult to reduce anxious feelings, because strong arousal comes automatically, and suppressing emotions often only makes things worse. [3] So if you’re feeling anxious before an interview, first accept that feeling.

« Light excitement is your ally. It makes the brain work to the maximum, gives shine to the eyes: your interlocutor sees that you are really interested in the conversation. If you are so worried that you cannot connect two words, prepare a greeting in advance. Very short, one or two sentences, but learn it. You will begin to speak with a familiar phrase, and this will help the brain to calm down and get into a working rhythm.

If you’re feeling nervous after a few minutes of meeting, try some breathing exercises. From the simplest: breathe with an extended exhalation. Did not help? Try to bring yourself back to the here and now.

How to pass an interview: instructions

  1. Don’t be late or too early . Ideally, arrive five minutes before your scheduled time. But do not warn the recruiter much in advance about your appearance. Appreciate his time.
  2. Be nice . Remember the first impression? And if it is no longer possible to change the costume at the meeting, then a smile will only benefit. But be careful not to overdo it so that the recruiter does not have thoughts about your insincerity.
  3. Answer questions calmly . Even, it would seem, the most uncomfortable. Perhaps you are being tested for stress tolerance and emotional intelligence.
  4. Don’t lie . This is especially true of your knowledge of a foreign language: the recruiter may offer to continue the interview in another language.
  5. Ask your questions to the specialist. This is where the list you made before the interview comes in handy.

There are also several psychological tricks that will help win over a person. Psychologist and Gestalt therapist Elena Masolova advises using several techniques:

  • eye contact . Do not look to the side or down, but look at the interlocutor at the moment when he says something to you;
  • mirroring the interlocutor’s posture, tone, timbre and intonation of the voice . It is very important to mirror hardly noticeably, as if mentally taking his pose, and not to act ape, otherwise you risk getting the opposite effect;
  • validation . This is a slight smile, head nods during the interlocutor’s monologue, words spoken in an undertone: “good”, “yes”;
  • keywords . These are the words that a person repeats several times or gives them a special emotional coloring. Use them in your answer to the question.

In an online interview, the same techniques will work, but the main task is to take care of the frame. Think about good lighting and backgrounds. Try to set the camera so that you can be seen from the waist up. This will make it easier to gesticulate and not think that your face is being stared at too closely.

What questions are asked in an interview?

When answering questions, HRs check not only the competencies of a specialist, but also try to get to know him as a person, to understand how stress-resistant a person is.

The majority of those interviewed by RBC Life noted that there is no typical set of questions. Everything is determined by the position for which the candidate is selected.

Galina Podovzhnyaya, HR director of 3M in Russia and the CIS, author of the book “HR without stereotypes”:

“I formulate questions according to the same methodology – these are behavioral questions that allow me to measure competencies. This is the STAR technique. Give an example of a situation in which you did something. What task did you set for yourself, what actions did you take, what result did you achieve.

I have one favorite question that I ask in almost every interview. It helps to understand how a person has a developed ability to learn. The question is: can you share an example of failure in your life, the mistake you made, and what conclusions you have drawn from this situation.

December 3, 2019 at the Moscow Center for Preschool Education “Sodruzhestvo” in Orekhovo-Zuyevo, the winners of the competition “Best Kindergarten” were awarded among educational organizations in the Moscow Region implementing educational programs for preschool education in 2019, where he entered the top ten kindergartens of the Moscow region and topped the list of Laureates.

Dupont Gardens in Philadelphia

Man and nature are one, a symbiosis of beginnings and innovations. Despite the fact that many, even at a fairly adult age, do not cease to deny this fact, having gone through some events, everyone understands the importance of harmony. And harmony can only be achieved by understanding oneself and understanding the beginning, which, in other words, means paying tribute to natural sources. Apparently, given precisely such reasons, many seek to spend their restorative holidays where there are various natural assets. They can be like those that have always been or created by man. Those involved in the construction and arrangement of such places are always striving to get as beautiful a result as possible.

One such beautiful creation is the DuPont Gardens in Philadelphia. The history of their creation begins at the beginning of the last century and is of great importance when visiting this place. Knowing exactly how this magic was built, you begin to perceive everything that is located there in a different way. Let’s start an interesting and amazing digression into the history of Dupont gardens.

Who is Pierre Dupont? The history of the creation of magical gardens

When you manage to visit the gardens of Dupont (or, as they are also called – Longwood), you will feel the interweaving of history and landscape, which interact and create one whole.

But before learning about the brainchild, it is worth mentioning a few words about the ancestor of Longwood. Pierre Dupont was the child of a wealthy French family (his origin can be guessed from the name) who had previously emigrated from France to America. He was born in 1870, and then the Du Pont family lived in the state of Delaware. Their house was located in a picturesque area that overlooked Brandywine Creek. All his childhood, little Pierre watched nature, admired it and was imbued with respect. In addition, his parents instilled in him the skills and love for gardening, working together in the garden and gardening. But even given such prerequisites, hardly anyone hoped that the little boy would be so carried away by nature. His passion and love for beauty led Pierre to become one of the most famous and influential gardeners in America as an adult.

Pierre Dupont was a very versatile person, he loved to travel, was interested in design and always mentioned his outlook on life, which was imbued with respect for humanity. Also, he was very fond of learning, which he did all his life and reached an incredible level of education and erudition. His interests included architecture, philosophy, art and science. All this was very closely intertwined with his original passion – nature. And in his creation – Longwood, Pierre tried to embody all his knowledge and beliefs through various natural creations.

At the age of 36, Pierre Dupont purchased Pierce’s medium-sized farm and the estate that adjoined it. An arboretum was already located there, which conveniently housed a good and unique variety of trees. When buying a farm, Pierre Dupont had no clear intentions or plans for it, he just did what he liked and created what made him feel good in his soul. He built his magical gardens gradually, supplementing and improving first one part, then another.

The very first place du Pont took on is now called Flower Garden Walk. There is a long path lined with flowers, low neat shrubs and some types of cereals. The creation of Longwood took a significant amount of finance from Pierre, but he never saved when building his cherished dream, giving himself completely to the cause without a trace. And so the fairy gardens became a combination of horticulture, architecture, art, education and entertainment.

A very beautiful and amazing place in the gardens is the main fountain. At its inception, DuPont was able to bring to bear his knowledge of engineering and architecture. This fountain is so powerful that it can throw out 45 thousand liters of water in one minute. It is not surprising that then this building caused surprise and stun in everyone. With this power, the ejected jets can easily reach a height of 40 meters. And by adding light music to this, DuPont set the bar high enough for other architects and engineers.

One of the most costly creations of the magical garden, perhaps, is the Conservatory. This place occupies a huge area, there are as many as twenty greenhouses. The total number of plant species that develop there reaches 5500. Even in our time, such scales cause surprise and admiration.

The creation, which is proudly called the Conservatory, is open to the public all year round. The compositions presented there change, according to the change of season, and always surprise with beauty and grooming. The design developed by Pierre especially for this building is distinguished by originality and good taste. In such an environment, plant exhibitions look much more beautiful. The greenhouse halls periodically change their content, demonstrating high art and arousing interest among many visitors. Quite famous is the Orchid Show, which takes place in March, or the Chrysanthemum Festival, which can be observed in autumn. One of the halls of the Conservatory is dedicated to the organ; thematic concerts are regularly held there for lovers of such music.

Early changes in the gardens and the sad death of Dupont

The Dupont Gardens have been in existence for quite a long time, they are constantly undergoing changes, the addition of new areas and other improvements. Some were built in a shorter period of time, others took years to build.

For example, the Italian water garden is one of those parts of a magical place that took quite a lot of hours of work, and also required a significant financial investment. On the territory of Longwood there is a large lake, and for a long time the land around it was empty, without representing anything of interest. At 19In 25, Dupont decided to ennoble these squares with an amazing garden. The site, which was located in the northeast of the water heritage of nature, was subject to great changes. As a result, the construction was completed only in 1927. When building and designing, Pierre was inspired by a villa in Florence called Villa Gamberaia.

Shortly after the creation of the Italian Water Garden, work was also completed in what is now the Topiary. It happened at 1930 year.

When Pierre Dupont was 84 years old, a sad fate overtook him. He died and left behind a beautiful garden, which is now admired by thousands of visitors every day. Such is life, and no one can avoid this unpleasant moment of its development. Three days before the incident, Pierre was rewarded for all his work and undertakings with the Order of the Legion of Honor.

But even the death that suddenly overtook Dupont could not take him by surprise. Thanks to his high education and sharp mind, Pierre was able to create a fully working and self-sufficient mechanism during his life. The foresight of the creator helped Longwood to grow and develop even in those difficult times when the garden began its life without the original owner. Thus, the gardens of Dupont were able to easily transfer this time and work in a good rhythm in the future.

Longwood’s new director continues the tradition of gradually expanding the gardens. Thus, the death of the creator had practically no effect on the improvement of such a magical brainchild. In 1957, a new exhibition was opened – an exhibition of lotuses and water lilies, which every visitor could visit and see. Even before the death of Dupont, the culture of palm trees developed quite strongly in the gardens. And after the creator died, this tradition was fully supported and developed by the new director. Thus, by 1966, there was an official opening of a new facility – the Palm House. This building played an important role for the whole magical garden, it featured not only trees, but also a certain landscape was built, which added beauty and created the necessary mood. The Palm House has about 60 types of palms of absolutely different shapes and sizes. This official opening made it known that Longwood was and remains the creation of Dupont. And even after his death, the new owners maintain established traditions, replenish and update existing plant collections. But, of course, do not forget to create something new.

How did the gardens change after the death of Dupont’s creator?

Beginning in 1970, a new era of refinement and improvement began at Longwood. The territory of the gardens was planned in the long term, and since that time the grandeur of future buildings has grown more and more.

The year 1973 was very significant for Longwood, as one extremely large-scale official opening of the newly built site was planned in this period of time. And to be more precise, the House of Azaleas was presented on a huge scale, or as it is also called – the Eastern Greenhouse.

Quite quickly a new object was opened and presented – a summer theater. The beginning of its work for visitors was not advertised as grandiose as the last creation. However, this does not prevent this part of the garden from being extremely popular among Longwood guests now.

The year 1976 was no less significant for Dupont magic. At this time, two new gardens have seen the world. The Wisteria Garden opened first, followed by the Peony Garden. With so many big introductions in such a short space of time, Longwood has become one of the most important and leading horticultural representatives on the planet. But this fact in no way slowed down, and even more so did not stop the development and replenishment of the Dupont gardens with new areas and places.

One of the most significant decades for Longwood was the period 1986-1996. A beautiful Silver Garden, a stunning and exotic tropical Cascade Garden, an unusual Mediterranean Garden, and an uncharacteristic closed Kindergarten were created.

Given such a rich and quite interesting history of creation, one would like to think that in the gardens of Dupont, the creator and every director after him tried to collect the most unique, but exotic collection of plants. Of course, the Longwood Conservatory has prepared a very large selection of unusual flowers and other flora. But this is not all that can be found in the gardens of Dupont, and this is not at all the goal pursued by the leaders of Longwood. In addition to exotics, here you can find about two million flowers such as crocuses, chionodox, tulips, daffodils and many others. They were all planted over a long twenty-year period, starting on 1985 years old. This was done so that every spring you can admire the unique flower carpet in the fresh air.

But Longwood’s biggest changes have yet to take effect. The year of large-scale changes was 1995, it was then that the framework for the new naturalistic style was created and developed. Obeying the designs and styles of naturalism, an oriental deciduous forest was planted. Naturalism said that to create such a forest garden, you can use local plants. This project was a novelty not only for Longwood, but for the whole world. He was one of the first representatives of this style at that time.

Modern clocks also bring something new to Longwood. For example, in 2014, MeadowGarden was opened, or, in other words, a picturesque flower meadow. It was grown from a huge number of perennials of various shades and shapes, and other forbs. This meadow in the future may continue to develop, becoming more and more.

Longwood is a majestic beautiful place of natural destination, which includes trees, flowers, fountains, greenhouses, an organ hall, a summer theater. FAQ’s for Bright Horizons at Suffield

Do you offer a summer camp program?

Yes! Through Summer Explorations at Bright Horizons, your child will have the opportunity to enjoy everything summer has to offer. During action-packed days, preschoolers (ages 3-5) and school-age children (ages 6-10) will experiment with science and technology, engage in the creative arts, discover nature, and explore the world. 

Highlights include:

  • Age-appropriate, engaging themes
  • Flexible weekly scheduling options
  • A safe environment where kids can be kids
  • Industry-leading health and safety protocols

What is back-up care? Who is eligible to use it?

The Back-Up Care Program is designed for parents who already have child care arrangements but find, as most parents do, that they fail from time to time. When these care arrangements fall through, the Back-up care is intended to provide a “bridge” enabling the child to be cared for in a wonderful nurturing environment while enabling the parent to continue to go to work with peace of mind. Back-up care is NOT sick child care. Back-up care is on a space available basis and can be used by first-time users or infrequent users of the center. Parents intending to use back-up care must pre-register and enroll in the back-up program. The appropriate enrollment forms need to be completed and information (including but not limited to updated medical and emergency contact information) must be kept current. Back-up care is available for children up to 10 years.

Do you offer a half day preschool program?

We are currently exploring a half day preschool program that would begin in January 2021. The program would be four hours a day and families would have the option to enroll for two, three, or five days. Contact us to learn more: [email protected]

Are all staff trained in CPR and First Aid?


All Bright Horizons staff are trained regularly in CPR, even if not required by the state. First Aid is taught as required by state licensing agency/regulations so that you can feel confident that your child is safe and receiving the best care possible at our center.

Does Bright Horizons at Suffield offer a summer camp program for my school-age child?

Yes! Yes! In addition to the Summer Explorations experiences we plan for our Preschool and Kindergarten Prep programs, Bright Horizons offers a very fun program for school-age children (ages 6-10). From STEM to dramatic arts, fitness and giving back, our Summer Explorations program has a wide variety of topics and offerings for any child.

I’m not quite ready to enroll in the center but I am interested in continuing to hear about what is happening at the center. How can I get information more regularly?


We encourage any family interested in center information, regular updates and invitations to the many events we are planning, to contact us.

What if I’d like to enroll but the center doesn’t have space available?


We suggest you register with Bright Horizons.  You can select up to 3 locations to be registered at, including the center you are most interested in.  By registering, you are confirming your strong interest in all 3 centers.  We will add you to our wait list and you will be offered a space as soon as one becomes available.  While waiting for a space to become available at your first choice location, many families will choose to enroll at their 2nd or 3rd choice temporarily until space becomes available at the center they are most interested in.   In many centers, a child currently enrolled at a Bright Horizons location has priority over the general community so enrolling at another location will not only solve your care needs but will also give you additional priority in getting into your 1st preference.  Our goal is to accommodate families as soon as space allows.  During the entire process, we will keep in touch with you regarding your status.

What is Bright Horizons’ process on checking the background of their employees?

Bright Horizons conducts a comprehensive background check on all prospective employees and frequent visitors. The background check consists of a county criminal record check for the past seven years performed in all counties that a person has lived, worked or attended school. In addition to the county criminal search , a sex offender search, OFAC search and a social security verification trace are also conducted. For all location employees, program licensing background checks required by the state are also performed.

What is NAEYC accreditation?


The National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) has developed standards to define and recognize quality child care programs. In order to be accredited, a child care program must meet a variety of strict criteria, including having a well-trained faculty, good staff-child ratios and group sizes, and a comprehensive curriculum, as well as meet stringent health and safety standards. The program must also provide meaningful opportunities for family involvement.

Are you allowing prospective parents to visit centers?

Yes! Prospective parents can schedule a center visit by completing our Tuitions and Openings form from our center website. 

Are you conducting health screening for those who are entering the center?

Families complete a daily health check in our My Bright Day app prior to arriving at the center each morning. The check helps affirm that their child is well and able to participate fully in daily activities.

How is Bright Horizons ensuring the health and safety of families and staff at our centers?

At all of our centers, rigorous health and safety practices are a foundation of the way we care for children. These include:

  • An illness and daily health check policy that strives to mitigate the spread of illnesses
  • Frequent cleaning and disinfecting of high-touch surfaces and toys; frequent laundering of soft items 
  • Regular maintenance of the center, equipment, and supplies, updating and replacing items as needed 
  • Secure entrances to all centers 
  • Strict handwashing and sanitary policies to prevent the spread of illnesses

Can children with special needs enroll in a Bright Horizons center?

Yes! Bright Horizons strives to and has successfully accommodated a wide range of special needs and individual differences in our group programs.   We believe in inclusive programs that attempt to meet the needs of a wide range of children and which focus on each child’s strengths. We support a collaborative team approach – the teacher, director, specialists, and parents. The team will work closely together to try to maximize each child’s opportunities for learning, growth, and development, and to attempt to eliminate any barriers or safety issues which a group program may present.

Does Bright Horizons perform background checks on its employees?

The safety of the children in our care is our highest concern.  Bright Horizons maintains stringent hiring practices and conducts criminal background checks on all teachers and caregivers in our centers. This check includes a criminal record search and a cross-reference check to determine prior convictions or other records of criminal activity that would call into question an employee’s’ suitability to care for children. Additional elements of our required background checks include verification through the Office of Foreign Asset Control and Sexual Offender Database Search. The frequency for updating criminal background checks for employees depends on state or other center-specific requirements.

What is The World At Their Fingertips?

All Bright Horizons center staff are trained in CPR and first aid.  Once an employee is hired, they are required to fulfill 16 hours of training through our new employee orientation. This training takes place over a two-day period, where the employee spends time observing each age group in the center. Teachers must successfully complete first aid and CPR training, in addition to local licensing and/or Department of Health requirements (e.g., food handler safety card.)

An exhibition of contemporary artists of Roman Lyapin’s school of painting titled “Opening Horizons” opens in St. Petersburg. It was organized in the “Colors of Life” gallery. As professionals note, the exposition has every chance of becoming the brightest cultural event in the city in 2023.

Children enrolled in first grade will need to have a physical examination, including TB test, as part of the Child Health and Disability Program. See the school nurses at each school site for forms. The exam may be obtained from the child’s private physician or arrangements can be made with the school nurse. The physical examination may be done up to 18 months before to 90 days after entry into first grade.

For school registration, go to the front office of the elementary or secondary school serving the area of San Diego in which the family lives. Bring to the office the student’s birth certificate and documented proof of immunizations from a physician that shows day, month, and year of each immunization. A student must have received at least one of each type of required immunization before enrolling in the school. If the parent has no record showing the child has been immunized, the child must begin a new series of immunizations before he or she can attend school.

Girls that write free at all?!! If a child at 3 years old goes to kindergarten to learn a language, then what? How to choose? Is there a free one? Does it depend on the income of the parents and whether both work? Are there worse/better – like schools?

I think it’s different in every state. But the “general” (if I can generalize it that way) rule is this: A child who turns 5 years old in the [month depends on the state] month of the year of entry into the kindergarten is accepted into the free “K” level kindergarten. For example, in California, a child who wants to go to kindergarten next September must be 5 years old by December 15 of the following year. Further, there are many public schools that are not K-12, but preK-12, that is, they offer pre-Kingergarten programs. As far as I know, these programs are free for POOR families. You need to find out if you qualify for this category. And you need to find out in advance, because there are very few places in these programs. Further, in the United States there is a system of programs (state), which is conducted by Head Start (Early Head Start), also exists. Again, find out locally how to get into their low-income category. In Head Start, by the way, there are good language programs for children. As for paid kindergartens, I now look for my children myself – a 4-year-old and a 3-year-old. Cost (again, California, Motessori Kindergarten) about $500 per month per child, Mon-Fri from 9mornings for 3 days, with the inclusion of two snacks and a hot lunch. 20% discount for the third child. Approximately how many months (years?) does it take to get in line? – Head Start is where to look? To their website? Or to some municipal institution that has information about all this set of services? – We are also going to California, approximately in the San Diego area, so your information will be very useful! There are a lot of Head Start centers in San Diego and its suburbs. If you don’t fit into the low-income category, try looking locally for daycare centers, which are usually cheaper than preschool programs. IMHO, at this age it doesn’t matter if your kindergarten is dominated by poor or Mexican children … IMHO, of course, but at this age, children don’t bother with the salaries and social status of their parents, and just make friends with those they like 🙂

What specifically interests you? Full day kindergarten or educational programs. Kindergarten is not a kindergarten, it is the first year of the educational process. Public school kindergarten is free, but it’s only 3 hours a day. If you are interested in full-time kindergarten, then there are no free ones in the states, only if you manage to get subsidies as a poor person.

For a full day, a 3-year-old can be taken to day care. In Chakago, these gardens now cost about $250 a week on average. I won’t say anything about California – I don’t know. Oakland County Free Preschool Programs

Oakland County free preschool programs are available through Head Start and Great Start Readiness Programs. If you live in Oakland County, your child may be eligible for a zero-cost full or half-day preschool program. These free preschool programs are designed to give children a boost and help them be ready for Kindergarten.

OAKLAND COUNTY MOMS EDUCATION ARTICLES & RESOURCES

Experts agree that children who have quality early learning experiences are better prepared to be successful in school and throughout life. Free preschool opportunities in this county use research-based curriculum to prepare children both academically and socially. These programs are certified as very high quality by the Early Childhood Investment Corporation.

Free, high-quality preschool programs are available now throughout the county for eligible families with children who will turn 4 years old on or before December 1. You must be an Oakland County resident and provide documentation of income to qualify.

Section 619 and Free Preschool Special Education

If your child is between 3 and 5 years old and is behind other kids or has serious challenges, you may wonder how to get support for your child. Most kids this age are still too young to attend kindergarten in a public school. And private preschool is expensive. You may have another option, though: free preschool . Learn how it works.

Who Qualifies for Free Preschool Special Education

Federal law offers help for kids with disabilities from birth through high school. The law is called the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA).

One part of IDEA—called Section 619—funds services for preschoolers. With this money, all states offer free special education to preschool kids ages 3 through 5 who need it. Your child can qualify under Section 619 in a few ways.

First, kids who are delayed in their development may be eligible. For example, a young child who never talks or who never makes eye contact might get free preschool services. Or a preschooler who lacks enough muscle tone to hold the body up. Each state has its own rules on how delayed a child must be.

Another way to qualify is if your child received early intervention before age 3. (These are services for babies and toddlers who have developmental delays.) If your child got these services, the state may continue them.

Finally, kids may qualify if they have a disability in one of 13 categories in IDEA and need services. This is less likely, because when kids are this age, it’s often too early to see their challenges. For instance, it’s very hard to diagnose a learning difference like when kids haven’t even started school.

Again, each state has its own rules for which kids are eligible.

Who to Contact for an Evaluation

To get free preschool services, the local school district has to evaluate your child. This screening is free.

    “Greetings from the Soviet past”: how free kindergartens work

    As I wrote in the first part of my kindergarten notes: my daughter Yaroslava is not yet five years old, and she has started going to kindergarten. While my memories are fresh, I will write about the discoveries of our second week in the garden. My daughter only went for walks from 10.30 to 11.20, with me. I feel that there is a lot of negativity: again I will be accused of being too dramatic. I would be glad to write a lot of enthusiastic words, but all that are already in the text.

    Out of five days, only three walked. One day, Wednesday, was skipped ostensibly because of the weather. You can walk along the SanPins if the temperature is not lower than -20° without wind and not lower than -18° with wind. We walked in the yard during the day, the temperature was -9° without wind, and in the morning in the garden the thermometer showed -21°. But apparently the nursery group didn’t know about it. They were the only ones walking.

    Music lessons on Thursday. And on this day, the group also did not go for a walk, because “they would not have time for classes.” By the way, music classes are held in the group on Tuesdays and Thursdays. That is, these days there is a chance to again be left without a morning walk, especially in winter, when it takes half an hour or more to get ready.

The daughter has already slowly got used to it, at least on the street, and she has begun to allow herself what she usually allows when she feels safe. She pushed someone, grabbed someone, didn’t let someone through. N.V. somehow put it like this (I apparently can’t remember verbatim because of emotions):

    I am still digesting. I am glad that she most often stays with the children after sleep, and we do not plan to stay in the kindergarten for so long.


    A couple of times the kids started crying: someone didn’t get an ice cube, someone was pushed. There is no reaction from the educators. No one is going to wipe their snot. In the best case, they will come up in a few minutes and ask what the tears are for. “Well, what’s the point of crying?” Some don’t even cry to the teachers anymore: they sit quietly on the sidelines and manage on their own. Sad sight. I want to come up and hug, but I don’t dare.

    Regarding the greeting of caregivers. From the daughter’s point of view, everything is clear. She greets relatives and friends. I never taught her to do this, it’s her choice. But with strangers she is dumb as a fish. Even if they are my girlfriends, and they came to visit us at home. Even if she really looked forward to them. She will never say hello, but in an hour, when contact is established, she can sit on her head. And this will be the highest degree of trust on her part.

    Therefore, even at my request, greetings to educators are not received in any way. N.V. noticed this once when she was replacing our teacher. Yasya already ran up the hill, and she shouted at her, called her to her (I was standing nearby). My daughter returned and, pressing herself into me timidly, said: “Hi.” Curtain, dammit.     On Friday, we finally got into the holy of holies — our group. We gave our daughter a locker with a teddy bear. Undress and enter the hall. Quite large, divided into zones: gaming and tables. They eat behind them and, apparently, do crafts. The children all passed and made the usual noise. It is forbidden! They quickly sat down on the chairs. “Vanya, take the ball and start playing edible-inedible.” Did not help. They still make noise, rush after the ball, everyone is shouting. The teacher at this time prepares the tables for dinner. But then the cook came and took up dinner, and O.V. song games. It’s funny. Children actively repeat everything, have fun. The daughter is also imbued, listens, tries to repeat. Clear leaders and troublemakers are obvious. Soon my daughter will join their ranks.

    Parents made repairs in the hall in the summer. The walls are really cheerful, without gaudy colors. But everything else is a greeting from the Soviet past

This is for almost 30 people. Feeling of pressure of space and stale air. We came after a walk, but the room was clearly not ventilated. There is a heater on the floor, although they say that the room is warm.

    Ordinary toys. Fortunately. My daughter’s favorite constructor “Polesye”, the Ikeevskaya railway, dishes, dolls, one looks like Raggedy Ann, along the walls on the shelves of supplies for drawing, cutting and other “creativity”. Yes, handicrafts, unfortunately, are also given to the house.

    My daughter liked everything for the first time. She was upset that she would not be able to stay with the children for lunch, but she asked me to tell the teacher to put her at the table with the boys on Monday. I am in my repertoire. By the way, it smelled quite appetizing. Sonya’s girl wasn’t out for a walk on Friday. She got sick. The daughter was upset, but not much. On the hill, she was again hanging out with the boys and looked quite pleased. But in the group I got confused. I didn’t want to meet anyone else.

    And I’ll write more about the manager Elena Gennadievna. Bad woman for me. Each time you have to prepare for a conversation with her and call on all your internal resources.

    I always feel like a delinquent schoolboy in front of her. This is the manner of speaking, and categorical judgments and obsessive attempts to call for frankness
