New Society Preschool teacher accused of touching girl’s chest
Amanda Batchelor, Digital Executive Producer
The girl’s parents said the girl refuted his claim and cried hysterically when they went to the classroom to confront Omomowo.
The girl was removed from the classroom at the request of the parents.
According to the complaint, New Society administrator Raquel Hamilton recommended Omomowo to Discovery Preschool in Coconut Creek in January 2013, and a New Society administrator also recommended Omomowo a year before to Phyl’s Academy Preparatory School in Lauderdale Lakes.
Omomowo was arrested in 2013 for molesting former students, including at Discovery Preschool and Phyl’s Academy.
Discovery Preschool was ordered in March to pay $3 million to the family of another 4-year-old girl, who accused Omomowo of molesting her.

Parent Fees
Parent Fee Information
If your family has income and you’re eligible for Denver CCAP, you may have to pay a portion of childcare costs to your childcare provider each month. The amount you have to pay is based on your gross income, the number of people in your household, and the number of children in care.
You should pay this fee directly to your childcare provider at the beginning of each month. It is the first payment the provider will receive for providing care for your children. If you do not pay the parent fee, childcare benefits may end. You may be unable to receive benefits in the future. Your parent fees must be paid even if you change childcare providers.
The parent fee covers the amount of care agreed upon between you and Denver CCAP. The amount is shown on your Authorization Eligibility Notice.
Providers cannot charge you more than the county’s rate for your authorized childcare. However, providers can charge you for any hours used beyond your approved hours and late fees if you pick up your child after hours.

I have become familiar with working one on one with specific families, as well as watchinglarge groups of children (10+) for events and parents’ night out. The best part of being a sitter is being able to connect with a child and get a glimpse of their world. When I am in your home my number one priority is your child(ren), always. After years of being babysat and sitting for others, I know what works and what doesn’t; the first-hand experience is the best teaching tool. My expertise is wide-ranged, I have truly seen it all.

Hello!
I am Callie! I am fairly new to the DC area( moved out here in May) and am looking for a nanny job. Over the summer I babysat for my first DC family and absolutely loved it! This position was sittingfor a new born which was such a great transition here for my first job. Unfortunately, this was just a summer time position which has me here to look again! Back home, I have had quite a few nannying positions. My two significant ones were for a family with three boys( ages 5, 3 and 1) and the other was for a family of two boys( ages 5 and 1). I absolutely love nannying and cannot wait to continue my experience out here. Besides nannying, I have worked in a daycare as well as kids club for a fitness center. I love to be as active and adventurous as possible! I am very easy going and am just hoping to find the perfect family to work with!
Cant wait to meet all of you!…

Tennessee Child Care Resource & Referral Network
Our Equity Statement
As an organization, the Tennessee Child Care Resource and Referral Network is committed to the cause of racial equity for not only our staff, but the early childhood educators, children, and families that we serve.
The deaths of George Floyd, Ahmaud Arbery, Breonna Taylor, Eric Garner, Elijah McClain and many others underscore the severity, pervasiveness and prolonged system of racism that exists across the nation and in our own communities.
The Tennessee Child Care Resource and Referral Network is making the following systemic changes within our organization.
1. We are educating ourselves to better understand and address issues of racism so we can begin to engage in dialogue between staff and the child care community.
2. We are implementing diversity and inclusion training with all of our staff. We will also offer this training to early childhood educators. We recognize that we can help early childhood educators start the conversation about diversity with the children and families in their care.
3. We promise to listen, learn, and show compassion for others as we continue the journey of understanding for ourselves.
The Tennessee Child Care Resource and Referral Network is committed to being part of the solution by embracing the principles of diversity and inclusion.

Our camp is different from most of the summer camps in town for several reasons.
We go on a field trip EVERY DAY (weather permitting) with LOTS of fun Activities!
We have weekly guest visits to Giggles from our community like exercise gurus, animal caregivers, and martial artists.
We have a very low teacher to child ratio 1:13 maximum (it’s usually much lower) Your child will get the personal attention they deserve.
ALL of our snacks, lunches, and activities are included in our low prices. That means you don’t ever have to worry about paying anything extra, packing food or a water bottle, or even washing your child’s camp shirt, we take care of it all!
How it works
Kids attending summer camp in Raleigh, North Carolina are dropped off at our center any time between 8:30-9:00 AM. Your child should be picked up 9 hours after they were dropped off in the morning. We do offer flexibility if you need extra time, just ask for details.
Lunches and activities are all included in our low prices. Each week of summer camp has a different theme which is listed below.
**Wednesdays are usually water days. Your children should arrive wearing their swimwear and sunscreen and bring a change of clothing and a towel packed in a bag.
(Please note that we are continuing to develop our schedule for summer and partnering with our field trip locations. Please check with the center for specifics for each Weekly Theme as we get closer to camp and finalize our field trip schedule. The daily schedule is also subject to further changes due to weather or unforeseen issues. We thank you for your understanding.)

Our Philosophy
Creative Curriculum is our educational philosophy, which promotes learning through play and encourages children to become enthusiastic learners. We continuously encourage and model life skills, manners, kindness and empathy for others. For the preschool children, there is an additional pre-kindergarten curriculum program which introduces and exposes the children pre-literacy skills such as upper and lowercase letters and sounds, and number recognition. We focus on these important skills along with proper writing formation techniques to prepare them for Kindergarten.

Archiving databases with a 100,000 year perspective
Archiving data is one of the most important things for preserving information on a global scale.
Master of Archiving and Records Science, President of the non-profit association Corporate Archives (Näringslivets Arkivråd)
Hello! I am very glad to take part in your event. My name is Anastasia Pettersson and I am the Head of Archives for the radioactive waste disposal company Svensk Kärnbränslehantering AB (SKB).
My topic is a little different from other topics. My colleagues and I are engaged in the preservation of your information, our general information on a European and global scale, and in general the trends and technologies of this business. The prospect in our company is to preserve information for a hundred thousand years to come. I have a master’s degree from Stockholm University and work with electronic archives. I am also the president of the non-profit company Corporate Archives.
How is information archived?
Every day more and more information is stored using digital resources. The amount of digital information will grow to 35 trillion GB by 2020. That is already in a year, it is possible to tell. In parallel with the ever-growing volumes of digital information, paper archives and documents remain. Digitization, one might say, removes the boundaries of archives. Today, information has become so fluid that it is no longer bound by the organizations that own it.
So-called community archives (community archives) can bring people together in social networks, for example. And the actions that occur there create an archive at best, but most often not. New ways that are primarily related to digitization have infiltrated our today’s office. We need strategies to manage information and make it manageable for today and for the future. These are folders from our archive, I just wanted to show you as an example that today’s information is stored on paper and, of course, other media. It is important to understand here that information carriers and information itself are two different things. According to the rules of the National Archives of Sweden, discs are rewritten every five years to prevent a significant deterioration in the quality of the disc.
I was at a conference in Japan a few years ago where gold CDs were discussed as more stable media. They can be stored up to twenty-five years, but this question is again twofold. Even if the media is of better quality, it is possible that the information will not be readable if it is in a technical format that is not supported by current operating systems.
How is information stored?
Today’s information is also stored in databases, such as genealogy. Personnel database with information about age, education, for example, salary of employees. Sweden also uses a personal number, which consists of the date of birth and four additional digits, and is used as identification. The patronymic is not used, as you know. There is another example – geological data, for example, the number and size of rock cracks and other parameters from various experiments that are carried out, for example, in our company. As I already said, non-traditional archives are also created in social networks: Facebook, Twitter, Odnoklassniki, VKontakte, of course. Facebook became widely used in Sweden in 2009year, Twitter in 2010, Instagram and YouTube in 2011.
We archivists have control over paper and electronic archives, the rules and order in which we ourselves create. But there are so-called non-traditional archives – information in social networks created not according to the rules of archives, and it is also our heritage. It must be defined, evaluated and maintained. I want to tell how we are working in this direction, based on my campaign. My presentation is called “The shelf life of 100 thousand years.” And I will now explain why.
But the main job of an organization is not archiving?
My main job, as I said, is in a radioactive waste disposal company. Our owners are the nuclear stations in Sweden. We have 500 permanent employees and 500 consultants.
Activities are divided into three sectors:
research
development of technology
processing of radioactive waste in laboratories.
We have a lot of money – it’s very rare, but everyone in Sweden finances our activities. When they pay their electricity bills, a certain percentage goes to our fund. The main office is located in Stockholm, our laboratories are located in the south and north of Sweden. I do not want you to become experts, as they say, of our department, but in short, it is still interesting. Our program is related to the processing of radioactive waste. It lies in the fact that we accept waste from all industries in Sweden. That is not only nuclear energy, but also industry, research and medicine.
Low and medium radioactive waste is stored in a permanent geological repository. Highly radioactive nuclear waste has now been in cooling water pools for thirty years. Storage facilities for highly radioactive nuclear waste are under development. A geological repository will be created, in which copper capsules with waste will be placed. The deposit of the capsules will be in a horizontal position. In the cell around them, a special clay will be poured – bentonite – which swells upon contact with water. Thus, the waste will be protected by three barriers:
copper capsule,
clay impervious to capsule,
storage located at a depth of 400-500 meters underground.
This concept is aimed at preventing human contact with hazardous waste for 100,000 years, when the level of radiation and toxic waste will decrease to normal natural levels. Knowledge and information about the permanent repository must be passed on to future generations to avoid inadvertent contact with its dangerous contents. Thus, this information should be preserved for 100,000 years.
How dangerous is the waste?
Waste is radioactive for 99,000 years, and poisonous for another thousand years. Therefore, the period of storage of documentation and archives is 100,000 years. Unintentional intrusions into our storage facilities can occur unknowingly, such as in mining, geothermal mining. But there may also be a deliberate intrusion, for example, to repair a vault. Similarly, when discovering new methods for disposing of nuclear fuel or for extracting resources from waste. Only 5% of the energy from nuclear fuel is used with current methods, i.e. 95% remains unused.
Our meteorologists and geologists are also working on storage design calculations based on ice distribution during the last ice age in Sweden, ie 100,000 years ago. Look, 100 thousand years ago in Sweden there was a rather short ice age, which affected, first of all, the north of Sweden, did not reach Stockholm and did not affect the south of Sweden at all. Around 50,000 years ago there was a long ice age in Sweden that affected all of Sweden. We assume the same cycle for 100,000 years ahead, that is, two ice ages, and therefore the design of the repository takes into account that it must withstand the pressure of ice.
What is archiving in SKB?
Today, SKB understands archiving as the long-term storage of a version of documents in a non-updatable form, including the associated metadata. Regulated mainly by the regulations and general recommendations of the National Archives of Sweden, as well as the rules for managing radiation safety. The meaning is that we work purposefully, based on the life cycle of our documents. The long-term goal is to transfer our archives – paper and electronic – to the National Archives. Under 19For 99 years, only analog archival documents existed in the SKB archive. They are listed, archived and searchable through the internal archive system.
Document management is carried out on the basis of relevant plans – information management plans. Information management plans consist of two parts:
one for the purpose of document management control,
another – database management.
Plans describe where and how information is created, in what form it is stored and how it is archived. The point is that you can access certain databases if needed. We also indicate the degree of confidentiality of information, and archiving data, media types and retention periods. The database management plan describes how data is managed and where and how information is stored.
What else makes archiving so long-term stand out?
The only difference is the description of the origin system. That is, the system from which the data itself was obtained. Despite the fact that we have a perspective of 100,000 years, we are not afraid of electronic archives. Since 2008, only analogue archival documents have been kept in the archives of Sweden. But after 2008, most documents of institutions exist in electronic form. They are archived automatically in electronic form, taking into account the rules and recommendations of the National Archives of Sweden. Based on the Open Archival Information System standard. I know that the same standard is used in Russia for the development of electronic archives. It is also approved by the National Archives of Sweden after digital archiving, archival metadata in .xml format is added to the document. Documents are archived in pdf format, and also comply with the requirements of the National Archives.
And yet, how is archiving done?
Databases are not usually considered as electronic archives – archiving is done by backup. Databases are transferred for long-term storage to the National Archives in the manner prescribed by it. This means that the information is exported in a technically neutral format. That is, in the form of text files or .xml files describing the contents of the databases. This will automatically read information from databases, making it easier to reuse, analyze and process the contents of archiving databases.
We also have many projects, based on our retention period, related to different ways of storing and transferring information. There are two main ways to pass on information to future generations (I mean really a hundred thousand years ahead).
It was really overwhelming for me because I wasn’t really familiar with casing…

I was on the fence about joining Career Launchpad because I thought the program wouldn’t teach me anything dramatically different from what I already knew. A lot of the information you need about almost anything is free or cheap on the internet.
I finally decided to join after I had spent 3+ months in the recruiting process without any success. I was so engrossed in the material that I had finished the majority of the modules within a few weeks. It was surprisingly helpful to have everything laid out on one platform that I could constantly revisit. And there was definitely a lot of content that covered topics that I would otherwise have never known about.
I was able to land my current job after 1.5 months of actively job-searching. Even now, though I landed a full-time role, I still revisit the notes I took from the Career Launchpad regularly to help guide me when I do research on other industries, ask professionals for informational interviews and more. I anticipate I will revisit the course even more when I decide to make my next career move and apply for my next job.
In retrospect, the opportunity cost of slowly gathering high quality, free information might be thousands of dollars of compensation and years of experience. You also don’t know what you don’t know until you’re exposed to it. The Career Launchpad is an example of having most of your job-hunting needs in one place. It’s great for recent grads or seniors, or those earlier in college to make yourself marketable in the workforce.

I would rate the course at 10 and would definitely recommend it to my friends. I haven’t received such insightful advice about networking from other resources like my Universities or career programs.
I used to religiously attend networking sessions and career fairs; but I never knew how to actually connect with specific people who are working in my dream professions. In retrospect I was wasting my time!
I also loved the interview modules. It showed me exactly how to craft behavioral responses so creatively and specific to the job field. Overall I’ve liked everything about this course — it was elaborate yet organized.

The Career Launchpad was very helpful with valuable insights into each aspect of the process of a career path.
What I liked most was how everything flowed so smoothly.
The resume modules were my favorites because the template of answering “why, how, and what” for each bullet point. As someone with limited work experience, that really helped me to frame a better narrative with what I do have. Although there was a lot of content, I liked that it was split up pretty evenly. The videos were pretty well paced and compact.
The course did not just provide tools and resources helpful to launching one’s career, but its preamble of assessing whether one is pursuing the right path for them was extremely insightful. It forced me to take time to think about what I actually like doing and whether it’s a field I’d like to build a career in. I started thinking about and researching industries I’d like to work in based on my own interests.
I would highly recommend the program!

I’ve been loving the course so far — it has been a great help!
There are a lot of helpful resources in the program, including the resume and cover letter guide. I personally found the cover letter video very helpful because I didn’t have any idea on how to make my letter to stand out.
I like how the courses are well-balanced with thorough explanations and real examples.
This course definitely helped me change my strategy with job hunting. I just started to mail the professionals, so hopefully, I’ll get some good news!

Resident Physician in Emergency Medicine
The Punamia brothers take you through a logical progression of a hypothesis-driven, reflective process of starting and steering a career. The attention to detail is impressive.
I used some of the frameworks in my interviews for medical residency before taking a second pass through all of the material. I intend to take a third pass before my intern year starts so that I can get the ball rolling on breaking into aerospace medicine.
This program changed the way I approached interviewing for medical residency. I think the most important piece was focusing on cutting down my elevator pitch to the bare essentials and putting much more meat on the bones of my responses to behavioral questions. I noticed that when I felt more comfortable with the behavioral questions, I felt much more comfortable with the entire interview. The approach that I learned is very high-leverage, the applicant can use many of the same stories and apply them in different scenarios, depending on the question at hand.
Would definitely 10/10 recommend this course, especially a student or recent graduate early on in their career.

Best part-time job for students in 2022
8 800 101 16 15 Call me back
Part-time work for students has always been a topical issue. Indeed, despite allowances, grants and additional payments, the scholarship most often cannot cover the basic expenses, not to mention the ability to afford the purchase of gadgets or travel. Therefore, there is nothing surprising in the fact that the topic of part-time work for young people is very important.
It is a little easier for students who receive help from relatives, or for part-time students who can get a main job in their profession. But sometimes this is not possible, and the question arises “where can a student find a job”?
A survey of full-time students shows that 37% of students earn extra money outside their specialty. And there are reasons for this. After all, work for student students should include a flexible schedule and a certain freedom. And most employers prefer employees who can be in the office from 9to 18, five days a week. Where can a student get a job? We have prepared for you the top 10 jobs for students! There are job opportunities for both boys and girls.
The best part-time jobs for students
First, it is worth understanding that a well-paid job for students is a rarity. Of course, everyone would like to find a place with easy and interesting activities and a good salary. But in reality, if you do not have some rare skills, extensive experience and a pool of regular customers, then you do not have to choose. Most of the options where you can work for a student without work experience are in the service sector. Here you can count on a flexible schedule and hourly or piecework pay. nine0003
So, the top jobs for full-time students without work experience include:
Courier. This part-time job for students has gained particular popularity with the development of delivery services. Many aggregators require couriers, but most often the requirements state the presence of some kind of vehicle – a car, a bicycle or a scooter. You can find a part-time job as a foot courier, but such options are physically quite difficult. When choosing where to get a student to work, it is necessary to realistically assess their own physical fitness. nine0024
Animator. This part-time job is especially suitable for a student who is creative and sociable. In addition, many say that this is the best job for a student studying at a pedagogical university, since it can be considered as a practice. Most often, animators after their studies work at children’s parties, dress up in costumes of various characters and entertain guests at celebrations. On the eve of the holidays (new year, graduations in kindergartens and schools), the demand for animators is especially high. This means that the level of earnings also increases. So this is also a job for students with a good salary. nine0024
Provision of personal services . This type of part-time job for students includes both one-time services from the category of “master for an hour” – fixing minor breakdowns, plumbing and computer services. So are services such as dog walking. This is a great post-graduate job for students as it offers flexible hours and doesn’t take long. Often help is required in the evenings and on weekends, and you can coordinate with the customer the time of your work. Also, this option can be considered as an informal job for students if you help friends for a small monetary reward. nine0004
Call center operator. Another type of part-time work for students. Moreover, this option can be considered as a permanent job for students. But it is worth considering that call center specialists usually work on a shift schedule. Therefore, it may not be the best job for full-time students. It is more suitable for part-time students or students with free attendance. Many businesses always need phone operators. Moreover, work in a call center does not always involve sales. This may be taking orders, technical support or consulting. As a result, this work option is not suitable as a one-time part-time job for students, since it involves at least minimal training. nine0024
Barista/bartender. We are sure that there will always be a bar or a coffee house near the university or home, where you can get a part-time job for a student. But it is worth considering that the profession of both a bartender and a barista requires initial training and an internship period, which is paid lower than regular hours. Also, considering this option of part-time work for students, it is necessary to correctly calculate your strength and time. Bartenders usually work at night, and baristas work in shifts. Therefore, it is worth considering whether such part-time students will interfere with their studies.
nine0004
Waiter. A variant that is deservedly included in the top work for students. On the one hand, it is physically hard work, which also involves internships and training. Therefore, if you are looking for where you can get a job for a couple of days for a temporary part-time job, this option is hardly suitable. But at the same time, quite often you can find a permanent part-time job as a waiter with a flexible schedule. And it’s good to make money on it, mainly due to tips.
Promoter. nine0023 This is a part-time job for young people, starting from 16 years old. And a great option where to get a job for a full-time student. After all, promoters usually work only 3-4 hours a day, this is a part-time job with the most flexible schedule. The tasks include distributing leaflets, promotional materials, posting ads and conducting surveys. Promotion is also a great job for female students. Companies often require young, pleasant faces to work at tastings and exhibitions, so there is always an informal part-time job for a student here. But it is worth considering that this work can hardly be called highly paid. In addition, it is quite irregular, and the stability of your earnings will depend on the demand for the services of promoters from the business.
nine0004
Work at a university for a student. Where else can a full-time student find a job? Of course, at your own university! Higher education institutions often employ students as methodologists or laboratory assistants. Often this is a rather routine paper or organizational work. In addition, the level of wages for such work is quite low. But on the other hand, you can be sure that work will not interfere with your studies. In addition, in this case, there is no question of where to look for a part-time job – just come to the department or talk with laboratory assistants. nine0024
Part-time job on the Internet. This is a fairly easy job for students, as it can be done without leaving home. And some even work in transport until they get to the university. How to find a part-time job as a freelance student? Everything is simple! The network often places orders for copywriters, editors, transcribers. Interesting part-time jobs for students are easy to find on specialized exchanges where you can work remotely. There are always job options for students of creative professions: journalists, designers, editors, etc. And an additional bonus – along with earnings, you will get real experience and portfolio replenishment! nine0024
Part-time jobs in retail chains. The finalist of our top and another option for a student to get a job. Large supermarkets are always short of workers. Therefore, there will always be a part-time job for young people. Professions for students without work experience can be very different: a sales floor worker, a loader, an assistant in the self-service checkout area, etc. Workers are required for different shifts: from 4 to 12 hours and at different times of the day. Moreover, many supermarkets allow you to choose where to work – for example, near your home or where you study. And the payment for such one-time part-time jobs is comparable to the salary of a full-time employee of the network. What is not the best job for a student? But be prepared for the fact that this work requires a lot of effort and a high level of responsibility. And also note that you will need to issue a medical book. However, it usually pays off in just a couple of shifts.
nine0004
As you can see, there are quite a few options where a student can get a part-time job. Our top 10 works include a variety of areas. Service sector, trade, Internet, etc. This means that the list will certainly contain the best work for girls and boys, for couch potatoes and extroverts, for 3 weeks and for permanent employment.
How can a student find a part-time job?
So, you have decided on the direction of the search and already know where to go for a part-time student. Now you need to outline a plan of action to find the best place. The question on the agenda is “how can a student without work experience find a job”? nine0003
A step towards interesting work for students. To get started, determine what time you can work and how many hours you are willing to devote to earning. After all, a part-time job after studying for full-time students will differ significantly from the options available to students with a more flexible study schedule. Can you work 4 hours a day or only on weekends? Do you need a temporary part-time job for a student for 3 weeks or are you looking for a permanent job? The number of final options and the direction of part-time work for students will depend on your decision. nine0024
Step – weed out unacceptable options. If you search for “jobs for students”, the list will be quite large. But upon closer examination, it turns out that most of them do not suit your conditions, and some offers will be frankly fraudulent. Immediately identify for yourself several areas in which young employees with no work experience are required. For example, if you want to earn extra money as a promoter, the search area will immediately narrow down to finding suitable BTL agencies in your city. Or you have chosen a part-time job in retail chains – then you can immediately look for a suitable app for part-time work! This approach will save you time and help you quickly find the best places for a student to work. nine0024
A step in finding the best part-time job for students is writing a resume. Yes, we have not forgotten that we are discussing the topic “where to go to work without work experience for a student.” But the lack of work experience does not prevent you from creating a resume and posting it on specialized sites. At the initial stage, you can include your education and specialty in it. And also describe the experience of participating in various conferences, organizing events, etc. Even with such a resume, it will be easier for the employer to understand what kind of person is in front of him and assess his willingness to offer him a part-time job. nine0024
The step is the most important step in finding a job for full-time students. Don’t wait for an interesting student job to find you. Start your search without delay! Be proactive and persistent in your search. This is the only way to find a suitable part-time job for students.

Smart, loyal, and courageous — if you had to narrow down traits for the best guard dog, these would likely be them. Nobody wants their dog to have to put up a fight (putting up a cuddle is much preferred), but if you want a dog who’s more likely to run at a problem than away from it, a little research helps.
Although some dogs might be preferable based on their size and personality characteristics, any dog can be trained to help protect your home and family, Patrick Mahaney, V.M.D., a veterinarian in Los Angeles, tells Woman’s Day. A lot of potential owners looking for a guard dog turn to large dog breeds, although they’re not the only ones who put up a fight. Medium-sized dogs and herding dogs are also protective and known to ward off bad-intentioned folks.
That said, you can’t rely on breed alone. “The degree to which a dog breed will protect is individual to each dog,” Dr. Mahaney says. “There are occasions where a particular breed that would otherwise be known as a guard dog will not exhibit a natural protective tendency.”
It’s worth checking in with your veterinarian or trainer about the behaviors you’re hoping to see, Dr. Mahaney explains. Fence running, for example, might strike you as a good offense against intruders, but it can become an obsessive habit that leads to fence chewing or excessive barking, which can lead to health problems.
Not to mention, training is a huge part of any dog’s performance and personality. Especially when it comes to larger dogs, Dr. Mahaney recommends working with a trainer on the behaviors you’re hoping to see as well as on obedience, which is crucial when your dog is half your size and on the chase.
These are some of the best guard dog breeds out there.

Boxer
Boxers can be super affectionate, and they’re very loyal according to the American Kennel Club. And their high levels of intelligence mixed with their loyalty means that with some training, a Boxer can be great as a guard dog.

Akita
Akitas are also known for being profoundly loyal dogs. They’re big dogs (100+ pounds) and natural born protectors.

Staffordshire Bull Terrier
Staffordshire Bull Terriers are known for being brave and tenacious, according to AKC. They’re super muscular and could definitely intimidate anyone who wasn’t welcome in your home.

Chow Chow
The Chow Chow is a muscular, stocky breed whose history goes all the way back to ancient China. Once companions to Chinese nobles, the breed eventually gained a reputation for guarding and hunting, which makes them an excellent guard dog to consider today. They do tend to be aloof and anti-social except for the people closest to them, so if you’re wanting a crowd-lover, this might not be the pet for you.
Getty Images

Shar-Pei
Another dog that is affectionate with their family but not interested in strangers is the Shar-Pei. At home, they’re pretty calm and quiet. But if something’s amiss, you can bet the Shar-Pei will want to investigate. Because of their loyal-to-a-fault temperament, they need careful, early training to be properly socialized and behave well in the company of non-family.

Australian Shepherd
One of the most recognizable ranch dogs, Australian Shepherds are good at, well, shepherding. These smart dogs want to corral anything they can, including your family. This habit makes them super protective and also keenly observant, both critical traits in a great guard dog. But their background also means they need plenty of mental and physical activity to keep them from acting out.

Border Collie
If your “home” happens to be more of a homestead, you couldn’t ask for a better protector than a Border Collie. Fueled by regular activity and wide open spaces, the Border Collie has been used by sheep farmers for ages as an excellent herder. Their whip-smart intelligence makes them great dogs for training — so you can instill the behaviors you need in a guard dog, and not the ones you don’t.
Getty Images
8 of 13
Bernese Mountain Dog
Part of the Bernese Mountain Dog’s appeal is just their sheer size — this pup can get up to 115 pounds. They love their family deeply and are generally a gentle giant, although they take a while to warm to strangers and they often alarm bark to warn them away. This may make them a better watch dog than guard dog, unless they’re specifically trained for what to do in the event of an intruder.
Getty Images
9 of 13
Doberman Pinscher
Beyond their undeniably intimidating look, the Doberman Pinscher also has an excellent temperament for guarding. They’re loyal, hyper alert, and scared of nothing. All of the traits that make them an excellent guard dog have also given them a bad reputation as dangerous. Owners should be diligent with training so that their pups only represent the breed’s best qualities when out in the neighborhood.

German Shepherd
Perhaps one of the first breeds that come to mind when you think “guard dog,” the German Shepherd has an excellent reputation for a good reason. Loving, smart, and brave, this is a dog as perfect for families as it is for police officers. Just make sure you’re working on obedience, too, so that you can effectively command your pet if they guard unnecessarily.

Bullmastiff
Originally a cross between Bulldog and Mastiff and bred to hunt down poachers in the late 19th century, the Bullmastiff is equal parts relaxed homebody and cunning worker when on the job. Smart, confident, and alert, the American Kennel Club (AKC) calls the breed a “world-class protector. ” Because of their size — they can reach 130 pounds — these dogs should be trained young, while they’re still small enough to handle.

Rhodesian Ridgeback
Once used to track lions in Africa, the Rhodesian Ridgeback is now a happy family dog — except for their fierce independent streak and chasing instinct. But their long history of working for humans and protecting homesteads makes them obedient, loyal, and ready to stand up against anyone interfering with their pack. Best for experienced dog owners, though, since their stubbornness requires extra attention in training.

Rottweiler
The Rottweiler is everything you could want in a great guardian: alert, aloof with strangers, and happy to serve humans. They were even some of the first guide dogs for the blind, according to the AKC. But what makes the Rottweiler even better is that, when they’re not on duty, they’re silly, playful, fun-loving dogs that don’t take the world too seriously.

Best Dog Breeds for Home and Family Protection | Blog
When it comes to choosing a dog to add to your family as a companion and home protector, one of the first questions you’re probably asking is “Which breed should I pick?” Every household is a little bit different, as are the potential scenarios you’re protecting against, so while there isn’t necessarily a single “best” breed for home protection, there are a number of breeds that have risen to the challenge through careful selection, responsible breeding and specialized training, making them well-suited for the job.
Gold Coast K9 has over thirty years of experience training world-class protection dogs, and during that time, we’ve found that the following five breeds excel as home protectors and loyal family companions. These breeds not only have a lot to offer their families by way of vigilant protection and heightened awareness, they also provide loving, well-adjusted companions for both adults and children alike.
German Shepherd
As one of the most popular dog breeds in America, German Shepherds are seen as some of the most versatile family dogs. They are a medium to large sized dog, with an average weight between 60 to 100 pounds, and a short to full plush coat. They make some of the best guard dogs because they are very receptive to training, naturally intelligent, alert, confident, and obedient. You may also see them being used as service dogs for individuals with disabilities, with police and military for protection and detection, or even herding. A properly selected and trained German Shepherd is responsive to commands, a vigilant protector, and is also a relaxed, loving, and gentle family companion.
Malinois/Belgian Shepherd
The Malinois, which may also be referred to as Belgian Malinois or Belgian Shepherd, is often mistaken for a somewhat smaller German Shepherd. They are a short-haired, medium to large sized breed ranging from 55 to 100 pounds. They are very intelligent, watchful, driven, alert, hard-working, and confident. They are typically lighter and nimbler than a German Shepherd, with a strong athletic build. When properly selected, they make an excellent family companion and protector due to their willingness to please, along with their physical prowess and confidence in their ability to guard. Their energy and enthusiasm make them a great choice for an active family or high-valued clients’ security detail as well.
Dutch Shepherd
Originally used for farm work in the Netherlands, the Dutch Shepherd is highly trainable, and shares a striking resemblance to German Shepherds and Malinois. They are a medium to large sized breed, weighing from 55 to 100 pounds, with a short to full plush coat. They are extremely obedient and intelligent, allowing them to be a loyal companion with a natural instinct to keep an eye on their surroundings to ensure safety. This easygoing and friendly breed plays well with kids and other pets, displaying plenty of love and affection. Some experts claim that Dutch Shepherds are among the smartest shepherd breeds.
Doberman Pinscher
The Doberman Pinscher can credit its origins to the dedicated efforts of a tax collector from Germany who bred dogs to create the perfect guard to protect himself and his livelihood back in the 1800s. Since then, Dobermans have branched out to other lines of work including search and rescue operations, general service and emotional support, police and military protection and detection work, in addition to being used as loyal family protectors.
A properly trained and socialized Doberman Pinscher makes for a clever, attentive and fearless guard dog, who can also turn off the “tough” attitude while at rest or play with their family and are known to be gentle and friendly with children and other pets. They are medium to large in size, weighing anywhere from 50-100 pounds with a sleek, short coat that is easy to groom.
Giant Schnauzer
The Giant Schnauzer is a medium to large sized breed, weighing between 55 to 110 pounds. They make great protectors and pets for people with allergies specifically, as their wiry coat hardly sheds and they’re one of the largest breeds known to be hypoallergenic. Giant Schnauzers are also receptive to training, obedient, and very affectionate.
Much larger and stronger than the standard Schnauzer, the Giant Schnauzer is a highly intelligent, agile, and independent spirit. This independent thinking when coupled with proper socialization, training and their innate drive to protect makes them fearless protectors, and a great choice for families who are looking for an affectionate, loyal and playful companion. Giant Schnauzers typically do best in single-pet households, where they can be the pride of their family.
Getting Acquainted Period
It’s important to keep in mind that regardless of the breed you choose and the level of training they’ve received, your dog will require an acclimation period in order to settle in to their new home and role. This “getting acquainted” period can last a couple of weeks and allows your dog to grow accustomed to the new sights, sounds and people that will make up their new day-to-day routine.
Due to the influx of new stimuli, this transition period can cause some stress and anxiety for your dog, so it’s important to remain calm and patient with them and to reinforce any commands or training they received prior to coming home with you.
To help ease this transition, Gold Coast K9 trains owners on how to reinforce obedience with a clear and consistent management program and provides you with a manual for everything you to need to know regarding your new companion.
Gold Coast K9’s Home Protectors
While breed is just one factor to consider when purchasing a home protection dog, it’s an important step in determining the right match for your protection needs and household. At Gold Coast K9, we hand select the best protection dogs from around the world based on the specific needs of each client. Those home protection candidates go through an extensive screening and evaluation process prior to training to ensure they’ll not only be the best match for a particular client, but also a loving and loyal companion.

Socialization
House/Kennel Training

Terminals
Dogs are man’s best friends and faithful helpers. Representatives of some breeds steadfastly serve on a par with people, participating in search and guard activities. A sharp scent, a strong psyche, courage and endurance are the qualities that a real service dog should have.
nine0005
Of course, these dogs can also be kept as companions. Cynologists recommend that owners of service dogs take at least a general training course (OKD) in order for the pet to become obedient and well-mannered.
Does your heart belong to the service breed? On the eve of the holiday – Defender of the Fatherland Day – we have prepared material about the most popular of them.
What kind of dogs can be called service dogs?
Service breeds are divided into:
nine0005
1. Hunting. Their task is to hunt down and pursue prey.
2. Shepherds. Help to graze livestock in all weather conditions.
3. Security. Guard objects and people.
4. Investigative. Carry out a search for people in danger, prohibited substances.
5. Customs. Find objects and substances that cannot be brought into or taken out of the country.
nine0005
6. Bodyguards. Dogs guarding people.
7. Search engines. A keen sense of smell helps to find people who are missing, trapped under rubble, etc.
8. Guards. Protect the borders of the state.
9. Riding. Designed for transporting people and goods in difficult weather conditions.
10. Sappers. Find explosives, help clear the area.
nine0005
11. Assistance dogs for people with disabilities (guide dogs, rehabilitation dogs, therapeutic guard dogs).
Australian Shepherd (Aussie)
Good-natured dogs that, despite their mischievous nature, will never offend themselves or family members. They prefer to dominate, so the owner will have to be patient to find a common language with the pet.
Australian Shepherds have historically been used as herding dogs, making them responsible babysitters. They are often recruited into the border guard and also trained as guide assistants.
nine0005
Akita Inu
These people from the land of the rising sun are owners of a difficult character who need training skills. It is impossible to bring up a “plush toy” from an Akita Inu – a proud and independent disposition will not allow this.
They do not like the presence of strangers, and they will growl at other dogs, clearly marking their territory. Spending time in nature, chasing a toy is their favorite pastime. The dog of the Akita Inu breed will become an excellent guard, to whom you can safely entrust your home and family.
nine0005
American Staffordshire Terrier
Strong and hardy staffs are distinguished by high intelligence. Despite the formidable appearance, this dog never attacks just like that – it is quite difficult to get him out of himself. Aggression will be manifested only in case of a clear danger.
The training of the Staffordshire Terrier should begin at a very early age – the dog must be clearly aware of how to behave with family members and with other people. The character of the guard, laid down by nature, makes representatives of the breed reliable companions with whom you can feel completely safe.
nine0005
Beagle
The Beagle is a hound breed, so the presence of a small fidget in the house is guaranteed. The activity of this dog can only be envied. Beagles adore a large number of people, whose attention is attracted with pleasure. They do not like to be left alone, in the absence of the owners for a long time, they can begin to destroy the house, expressing their extreme indignation.
They get along with other dogs, but cats are not respected – the hunter’s temper affects. The Beagle is an ideal breed for a large family, which will delight owners with optimism and inexhaustible energy until their advanced years.
nine0005
Boxer
Fearless boxers are excellent watchdogs, therefore they are often used by law enforcement agencies as service dogs. These are dogs that will be faithful to their owners until their last breath. With the right upbringing, a reliable family member, active and friendly, grows out of a boxer.
Another distinctive quality is increased alertness towards strangers. However, you should not be afraid of a boxer: he always feels those who pose a real threat. Boxers love children, they are happy to participate in their games, and in case of danger they will be the first to come to the rescue.
nine0005
Border Collie
Border collies are considered to be the smartest dogs in the world. They are easy to train and able to learn complex commands. These are workaholic dogs who need someone to take care of all the time.
The ancestors of modern border collies were herding small livestock, so watchdog skills predominate in them at the genetic level. They will surround the whole family with their care, especially small children. These four-legged friends require constant exercise – a passive lifestyle is not for them.
nine0005
Welsh Corgi (Pembroke & Cardigan)
“Big dog in a small body.” This is exactly what the owners say about the Welsh Corgi. Active and cheerful shepherd dogs conquer with high intelligence and amazing artistic abilities.
They perfectly feel the mood of their owner, understanding when to insist on communication, and when to step aside. They need to keep abreast of events all the time, because they don’t want to miss something interesting! Corgis are inherently fearless, so if necessary, they will engage in a fight with an enemy that is significantly superior to them in physical data.
nine0005
East European Shepherd
Our “compatriots” – East European Shepherd Dogs – are born guards and watchmen. With such a dog, you don’t have to worry about your own safety. If you decide to get an East European Shepherd, be prepared for the fact that you will have to go through a training course with it, and more than one – they need to periodically consolidate the acquired skills.
Friendly to children and wary of strangers, this breed makes excellent companions.
nine0005
Golden Retriever
The breed was popular among the English nobility, who spent their free time hunting. The dogs carried shot game, and it was not difficult for them to climb into thickets of thorny bushes or a cool pond.
To this day, many hunters choose a golden retriever as a four-legged companion. They also train search engines, rescuers and guides.
Doberman
Graceful Dobermans only seem dangerous. A properly trained dog will never show aggression. The breed is highly intelligent and easily learns commands.
A distinctive character trait of any Doberman is vigilance. He is always on the alert, so you can not be afraid for the safety of the home. Attacking without warning is not about the Doberman: nature has endowed these dogs with a strong and balanced psyche.
Caucasian Shepherd Dog
They are also called wolfhounds – they are ready to defend their master to the last. The nature of Caucasians is complex, sometimes aggressive, so they need a firm hand. Despite the harsh temper and external brutality, these four-legged pets are infinitely devoted to their family, they treat children with sensitivity and care.
They are quite loyal to other pets, especially representatives of miniature breeds. They are wary of strangers, but they will show aggression only in case of a real threat.
nine0005
Labrador Retriever
One of the most popular breeds in the world. Labradors are suitable for keeping in a large family where there are other animals and small children. Aggression is alien to them, and the positive disposition of the pet is able to cheer up anyone.
These dogs have innate hunting instincts, but in the modern world they are widely used as guides, searchers and rescuers.
Moscow watchdog
The name speaks for itself – this is a guard dog that will steadfastly carry out guard duty. The blood of St. Bernards and German Shepherds flows in their veins, so the character is quite controversial: sometimes “Muscovites” show ferocity, sometimes they amaze with their phlegm.
These large quadrupeds are hyper-responsible nannies, but kids need to be careful. A wild dog can accidentally knock a child down.
German Shepherd
They are distinguished by high intelligence, excellent security and search qualities. That is why representatives of this breed are most often used by government services as assistants. They are easy to train and enjoy learning new commands. The character is loyal and balanced.
Rottweiler
The Rottweiler is a guard dog that requires responsible maintenance. A dog that has not completed a training course can grow aggressive and attack not only other animals, but also people. It takes a long time to raise an obedient dog. Recognizes the authority of only one owner, treats other family members friendly.
nine0005
Black Russian Terrier
A hardy and prudent dog, bred by Soviet cynologists as a service dog. At the moment, representatives of the breed are used as rescuers, searchers and security guards. These are calm four-legged animals with an excellent memory. Responsibly protect their home, family members.
St. Bernard
Calm St. Bernards have historically been used by humans as rescuers – they easily found people under avalanches. Dogs are good-natured, peaceful, therefore ideal for keeping in the family.
nine0005
Their character can be called imperturbable – they are indifferent to strangers, however, as well as to other animals. The Saint Bernards, despite their outward melancholy, love games and take part in joint fun with pleasure.
Terminals

A dog can teach a child responsibility, compassion, and become the best playmate. But before getting a cute puppy, it’s always a good idea to figure out which breed gets along best with children and which one is unlikely to make friends with them. nine0005
Some dogs have an endless supply of patience and tenderness for life around a small child, some are ideal for exuberant play with older children. Temperament, of course, can be completely individual in a particular animal, but these 20 breeds are recognized as the most suitable for life in a family.
Cavalier King Charles Spaniel
Dogs of this breed, on the one hand, look like a cute toy, on the other hand, they have a very lively disposition. They get along with almost everyone, including children and other dogs. And their cute face is an added bonus. nine0005
Bernese Mountain Dog
If you have enough space and generally like to think big, consider this giant with a gentle soul. Keep in mind that these dogs weigh about 45-50 kilograms, but under all this hair there is a kind heart and a gentle soul that loves children.
Alaskan Malamute
Alaskan Malamutes live for their pack, be it humans or dogs. This breed was created for work, because the Malamute is a sled dog, so he needs a strong leader, a clear regimen, training and tangible loads. As a reward, you will receive a faithful and cheerful friend. nine0005
Boston Terrier
These human-oriented puppies weigh no more than 10 kilograms and their coat does not require special care. They easily adapt to life in an apartment, but this does not mean that they do not appreciate long active walks with children.
Labrador Retriever
For decades this breed has been the most popular. The fact is that retrievers love children, adults, dogs, cats – in general, everyone. They become best friends with those they meet, but their exuberant energy should not be forgotten. This breed needs serious daily exercise. And this pet can weigh 35-40 kg. nine0005
Golden Retriever
Another universal favorite, it fully justifies its title as an ideal family dog. He needs a lot of physical activity: running, swimming, exercising and exercising. And they will give their owners a light cheerful character, love in games and a lot of tenderness.
Bulldog
For those who like a more casual lifestyle, a bulldog might be a good choice. In addition to regular walks, these dogs like to take a good nap. But remember: their cute wrinkled face quickly overheats, especially if you live in a warm climate. nine0005
Pug
Like humans, pugs love to eat and sleep. You will have to carefully monitor his diet (no pieces from the human table) – the pug is able to suck everything in like a vacuum cleaner. And with a sufficient level of activity, this breed is unfortunately prone to obesity. Yes, it is very tempting to hug a chubby pug and lie down with him in front of the TV, but you both will have to get up from the couch and go outside regularly.
Beagle
Nice, friendly, charming. These dogs love to socialize and can’t stand being alone. They get along wonderfully with children and adults, but be on the lookout: the beagle is able to escape from the leash, carried away by some bright smell. The beagle genes are very active in it. nine0005
Irish Setter
Setters are handsome, born champions and gifted athletes. An active lifestyle and an endless supply of balls are something without which the life of a setter is impossible. It’s the perfect workout partner to keep even the laziest member of your family active.
French Bulldog
City dwellers adore these quiet and unpretentious dogs. Their signature ears and small stature leave no one indifferent. They are playful, affectionate and quite easily adapt to almost any environment. nine0005
Brussels Griffon
This is a small dog that cannot stand sudden movements and too active games. But if your children are ready for more calm and gentle games, they will be happy to communicate with a loyal, intelligent friend who, despite his small size, hides a big personality.
Newfoundland
This huge shaggy dog can weigh from 45 to 70 kg! A real giant, but he has the same giant tender heart. Dogs of this breed love to swim, and also have a well-deserved reputation as ideal nannies. Few can compete with the Newfoundland in patience and vigilance. In general, if you have enough space, this dog can be an ideal option. True, there is one “but”: a huge amount of wool and saliva will now accompany you literally everywhere. nine0005
Collies
Collies are considered to be one of the smartest dogs. Their intelligence and loyalty to man are unparalleled, and these creatures simply adore children. Worried about wool? Collies are both fluffy and with a modest coat – for those who do not want to constantly remove the hair in the house.
West Highland White Terrier
If you really care about the coat, then this breed is definitely for you. Vestas have an extremely hypoallergenic coat that practically does not shed. Dogs of this breed need to be trimmed. They are active, funny and very loyal pets that love to run, jump and play catch-up. nine0005
Poodle
The Poodle is an almost perfect breed. They come in three sizes (standard, king and dwarf) and three colors (black, white and apricot). While some mistakenly think that they are arrogant dogs, under this fluffy hypoallergenic coat lies a real smart and great friend.

Las Vegas Weather Today, Las Vegas Weather Forecast, Ocotepeque Department, Honduras
In America, everything is amazingly large, but in Las Vegas everything is simply incredible in size, including hotels, resorts, shopping centers, and legendary casinos. Some Las Vegas casinos have up to several thousand slot machines and several hundred card tables. Some of the buildings in the city boast records, including the Stratosphere Tower, the tallest observation tower in the United States, built at the Stratosphere Hotel and Casino, next door to which is the Bowling Center with a record number of tracks – 106!
The Las Vegas Strip, which runs through downtown, has an atmosphere of perpetual celebration. Here are the largest hotels and casinos.
This city has many attractions, such as the replica of the Eiffel Tower (Las Vegas Eiffel Tower) (Hotel-Casino “Paris”), on the very top of which you can get married, admiring the stunning view of the city, a replica of the Sphinx, the incredible Hoover Dam (Hoover Dam), which unofficially refers to the Seven Wonders of the World.
In addition to the casino, the city has many interesting tourist places, including the Secret Garden with Dolphin Habitat – a tropical paradise inhabited by white tigers, elephants, dolphins. For thrill-seekers, the fastest amusement park Speed Roller Coaster and Las Vegas Cyber Speedway are open. And those who love extreme driving can ride with the breeze at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway, which runs in the north of the city and is the largest racing circle.
Las Vegas has excellent museums where you can learn about the city’s history, as well as King Tut’s Tomb, a reproduction of the tomb of a famous Egyptian king. The Elvis Presley Museum exhibits memorabilia of the great singer.
Famous Hollywood films such as “Viva Las Vegas” (1964), “Honeymoon in Vegas” (1992) were filmed in this city, “Ocean’s Eleven” (“Ocean’s Eleven”, 2001) and, of course, the last of the James Bond films “Casino Royale” (“Casino “Royale”, 2006).
Las Vegas – “sin city” where you can become a millionaire in an instant or lose everything.
The most famous area of Las Vegas is Las Vegas Boulevard, also known as the Strip, which runs from the Mandalay Bay Resort to Charleston Boulevard. There are wide boulevards, convenient intersections and bridges with escalators, and several hotels have moving sidewalks that take you to the entrance. The southern part of the street, 6 km long, is completely given over to luxury hotels with their own shops, restaurants and casinos. The Luxor Hotel is guarded by a huge sphinx. It is worth stopping by the “Pharaoh’s Pavilion” at the entrance, which exactly recreates Tutankhamun’s tomb (open daily from 9:00 to 23:00). The Bellagio hosts a free color and music fountain show every half an hour (from 15:00 to midnight daily, on weekends from 12:00 to midnight). In “Paris”, climbing the “Eiffel Tower” you will see the Strip from a height of 140 m. Walk along Fremont Street – a picturesque and lively pedestrian alley, closed by wide steel canopies. Light shows are shown every hour from 18:00 to midnight. Take a tour of the historic Binions (128 Fremont Str.) and Four Queens (202 Fremont Str.) casinos. The first, where the atmosphere of old Las Vegas was recreated, was founded by bootlegger and gambler from Dallas Beni Benion, the second is named after the four daughters of the casino owner and imitates the style of New Orleans of the 19th century.
If you’re in town with kids, head to the Lead Discovery Children’s Museum (Strip, 833) with interactive exhibits where kids can stand inside a giant bubble, freeze their shadow on the wall, and enter the local TV studio. The museum is open from 10:00 to 17:00 from Tuesday to Sunday.

4 Historic Home Tours: Robert Mills House, Hampton House Preston and Woodrow Wilson House
Woodrow Wilson Family Home tinyfroglet / photo modified
Three of Columbia’s most historic homes have been lovingly restored and are open for tours provided by Historic Columbia, a non-profit conservation organization. Robert Mills House and Gardens was built in 1825 in the Classical Revival style as the private residence of Robert Mills, designer of the Washington Monument in Washington, DC. Rescued from a wrecking ball in 1961, the house reopened as a historical museum and has an extensive collection of period and decorative arts, many in US Federal and French Empire styles. The gardens were a late post-restoration addition in the 60s and are in classic English style.
Hampton Preston Mansion and Gardens has enjoyed many previous lives. Built in 1818 as the private residence and home of the distinguished Hampton family, it continued to serve as Union headquarters during the Civil War and subsequently as the Governor’s Mansion. The house is also listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The Antebellum Gardens, which surround four acres of land, were designed by the former owners and mother-daughter duo Mary A. Hampton and Caroline H. Preston.
The Woodrow Wilson Family Home is the only presidential site in South Carolina. This Italian villa-style mother was the birthplace of the boy Woodrow Wilson, 28th President of the United States. The exhibits, vignettes, and backstories tell of “Tommy” as Wilson was then known, and give an early narrative (circa 1871) of this great American’s story.
