Post-apocalypse in New Jersey – Russian Top
The capital of the US state of New Jersey, the city of Trenton, looks like after the apocalypse. Abandoned buildings, closed shops, graffiti, criminals and the mentally ill on the streets … The asphalt on the roads, however, although patched, is quite even in appearance.
In the comments, people write that things are even worse in other cities. It’s the state capital after all!
Please note that on Saturday at 10 am there are no people on the streets, and there are almost no cars. In the state capital. Why so? But a friend from there writes:
I’m from Trenton. It is dangerous to be in the center in the evening, it is safe only during working hours during the day, when all state enterprises are working: courts, tax, all state. departments, etc. No one really lives in the city center. The nearby streets are drugs. The farther from the center in any direction, the better. Ours live on Brunswick Avenue. This is a destination point for new emigrants from Eastern Europe. Now for several years no one goes to the country. Therefore, our Brunswick Avenue is populated more and more by Mexicans and Negroes. The once flourishing city since 19The 60s of the last century has turned into what you see on the screen. This is a dangerous city.
But this city is not the only one in the US. Drive into Camden and you’ll be out of there in a couple of minutes. Trenton is nothing compared to Camden, you can live. By the way. I will add. There is a Mill Hill district right next to the court. It’s a couple of streets with beautiful architecture and the area is watched over by residents. Mostly whites live there, oddly enough. And there it is, guess what? – The Russian Orthodox Church, which is not subordinate to the Russian Orthodox Church.
Trenton has a rich history. It used to be called Trent Town. The entire territory of today’s city once belonged to Mr. Trent, a local merchant. He traded products that he transported by water canal from Philadelphia. This channel still exists. There is also a Washington Monument. There is a free state museum, where there is a little bit of everything: from exhibitions with illustrations of Indian life to halls with contemporary art compositions. Trenton even has its own theater! And it’s incredibly beautiful there.
“Trenton even has its own theater!” – that’s how it is, there is even a theater. Cultural capital, no less. And in the Conservatory they store canned food.
On the question of the reasons for the degradation of the modern United States – degradation is inevitable when it becomes more profitable for citizens in half of the country not to work, but to live on benefits.
Social transfers for a family of four exceed the median national household income in 24 states and are above $100,000 a year in Washington, Massachusetts and New Jersey, according to a new US study. Many pandemic-related unemployment benefits have expired, but existing programs, combined with the recent expansion of the Affordable Care Act (ACA), also known as “Obamacare,” continue to offer significant incentives for the unemployed.
A study by the Committee for the Promotion of Prosperity (CTUP) and economists Arthur Laffer and Steve Moore found that many high-paying jobs pay less than what the government offers in aid. In 14 states, electricians, teachers, construction workers, firefighters and truckers earn less than the combined federal and state benefits.
Washington State holds the record for the most generous benefit system, where a family of four with two non-working parents can earn $122,653 a year. This puts the earnings of unemployed Washingtonians well above the median national household income of $70,784, according to the 2021 U.S. Census.
Being unemployed also has its tax advantages. “Unemployment benefits have at least one tax advantage in all states: they are not taxed, unlike wages,” the CTUP report notes. Six states—Alabama, California, Montana, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and Virginia—are also exempt from state income tax. “These factors further tilt the balance between work and social security in favor of not working,” the report says.
In general, the similarities between the USA and the late USSR are becoming more and more striking. But, of course, there are some nuances. In late Soviet times, our people suffered and died en masse from alcohol, while in the United States they are now dying from opioids. The problem is already so serious that it is noticeably dragging down the average life expectancy of Americans:
Life expectancy in the US has fallen to a 25-year low. The US Centers for Disease Control shares disappointing statistics. American life expectancy continues to decline rapidly. She dropped from 79years in 2019 to 76 years in 2021. This is the lowest level since 1996 – and the sharpest drop in modern US history.
America’s life expectancy dropped from about 50th to 70th place in the world in two years. The US is now on par with Malaysia – and behind Poland, Peru, Morocco or China.
The main factor here was the pandemic. In two covid years, the total deaths from the pandemic in the United States amounted to 1.1 million people. In addition, amid the pandemic, the birth rate has plummeted. Now the US birth rate of 1. 6 children per woman is well below replacement level. The American population is still growing – but only due to migration.
The opioid crisis was another reason for the fall in life expectancy. In 2021, a record 100,000 Americans died from an overdose of opiates – primarily fentanyl – in the United States. This is twice as much as US losses in Vietnam. Over the past 10 years, the number of Americans who have died from drug overdose has jumped by almost 3 times – and continues to grow rapidly.
Here they are, cap’s dreams come true – to get paid for not working, getting high on tasty substances and dying with glitches. America practically built communism!
But seriously, the printing press hit the US economy with its reverse side. For work has become less efficient than sitting on virtual cash flows. I call this process reversal.
Do you know that a typical Wuhanian can be deceived, on average, up to 600 times a day with the phrase: “Look, Russia is falling apart”?
And for dessert – New York!
When the coronavirus pandemic first hit New York and its streets were empty, and then, when the BLM protest epidemic swept the metropolis and the same streets were filled with angry crowds, optimists persuaded both realists and pessimists: “You just need to endure. ” The infection will recede. Will strengthen immunity. However, over the past two years, the disease has reached the very core of the Big Apple. Manhattan is now a hotbed of social ill-being in the largest US city.
Homeless tents on the Upper East Side two blocks from Park Avenue – when it’s cold. When it’s warm, there are gangs of juvenile robbers on scooters, taking bags from gaping tourists and taking away their gadgets right in front of the entrance to Central Park. Shooting in broad daylight in the always crowded Times Square. Chilling details of the attacks of the mentally ill in the subway, pushing passengers on the way in no way and in no way hurt them. And much more. The nightmare of two mayors of New York who spent two decades trying to put things in order (we are talking about Rudolph Giuliani and Michael Bloomberg) is coming true through the efforts of their followers. First Democrat Bill de Blasio, and now Democrat Eric Adams.
The cauldron of New York trouble really kicked in on January 1, 2020, when the Criminal Justice Act was passed, removing bail for most misdemeanors as well as non-violent crimes, including robbery. Only three states in the United States have decided on such a drastic measure: California, New Jersey and New York. Each of them is now reaping the rewards of the highest penal liberalization in American history.
Why is New York called the Big Apple?
“Go ahead, bite the Big Apple. Don’t mind the maggots.”
– The Rolling Stones, “Shattered ”
John Lennon said: “I regret profoundly that I was not an American and not born in Greenwich Village. It might be dying, and there might be a lot of dirt in the air you breathe, but this is where it’s happening” (I deeply regret that I am not an American and was not born in Greenwich Village. Perhaps he dies and there is a lot of dirt in its air, but this is exactly the place where everything happens). New York is a huge cauldron full of weird, loud, crazy and incredibly eccentric people with no complexes who don’t care what you think of them. New York is the smell of pizza and trash, bagels, the Statue of Liberty, Fifth Avenue, Broadway, Woody Allen, Central Park and Times Square. This is a city that is easier to hate than to love. But one thing is for sure – it is definitely not boring to live in it.
New York’s most famous nickname is “The Big Apple” ( The Big Apple ). The history of the origin of this name is not simple (after all, nothing is simple in New York), and there are a lot of theories. Some attribute the name to Depression-era apple vendors, a Harlem nightclub, and the popular dance of the 1930s known as the “ Big Apple .” Others claim that the first tree planted by the settlers at this location was an apple tree. Hence the connection with the apple.
The first written mention of the term “ Big Apple ” can be found in the book “ The Wayfarer in New York ” (1909) by Edward C. Martin: “ Kansas is apt to see in New York a greedy city…. It inclines to think that the big apple gets a disproportionate share of the national sap ” Here the opinions of scientists are divided, but, in general, almost everyone believes that it does not roll as a parent.
According to research conducted by Barry Popik and Gerald Cohen, the nickname “ Big Apple ” originated and spread in the 1920s thanks to the sports columnist “ New York Morning Telegraph ” John Fitzgerald. He heard this appeal to New York in New Orleans at the races: horses love apples, and racing in New York, according to the jockeys, is “a big apple.” In his column “Around the Big Apple” ( Around the Big Apple ) he wrote:
The Big Apple. The dream of every lad that ever threw a leg over a thoroughbred and the goal of all horsemen. There’s only one Big Apple. That’s New York.
Two dusky stable hands were leading a pair of thoroughbred around the “cooling rings” of adjoining stables at the Fair Grounds in New Orleans and engaging in desultory conversation.
“Where y’all goin’ from here?” queried one.
“From here we’re headin’ for The Big Apple,” proudly replied the other.
“Well, you’d better fatten up them skinners or all you’ll get from the apple will be the core.”
(Big Apple. The dream of anyone who has ever thrown a leg over the back of a thoroughbred riding horse, and the goal of all riders. There is only one Big Apple. This is New York.
Two swarthy stable workers were leading a pair of horses through the “cooling rings” of adjoining stables at the Fair Grounds racetrack in New Orleans, talking incoherently.
“Where are you next?” one asked.
“From here we will go to the Big Apple,” proudly answered the second.
“Then you’d better fatten those skinny ones, otherwise all you get from an apple will be a core.”)
In the 30s and 40s, the term “Big Apple” was closely associated with the jazz scene, and then completely forgotten until the 1970s. Then the New York City Bureau of Tourism organized an advertising campaign “I? NY” to popularize the term. Souvenirs, T-shirts, magnets, bags, ashtrays, etc. with the Big Apple logo began to be produced. At 19In 1997, the corner of West 54th Street and Broadway, next to the hotel where John Fitzgerald ended his days in complete poverty, was named Big Apple Corner by official decree of Mayor Rudolph Giuliani, although it is possible that one of the streets near the old office of Telegraph , where Fitzgerald worked, would have been a happier place for that.
Since then, many other nicknames for New York City have arisen, notably Big Rotten Apple or simply Rotten Apple because of the anger and depression of the people of this city, crime, drug addiction, prostitution and so on.
The following idiom is associated with New York:
in a New York minute – very fast, instantly
I would sell that car in a New York minute if the right offer came along.
(I would sell this car at once if the right offer came up)
And finally, a few examples of New York slang. New York slang is very diverse. You need to write a separate article about this … or immediately a book.
mad (Bronx) – very
Chris Rock was mad funny last night.
(Chris Rock was very funny last night)
I’m mad hungry.
(I am very hungry)
son (Brooklyn) – address to a stranger
Hey, son, why don’t you park somewhere else?
(Hey son, why don’t you park somewhere else?)
schlock is an adjective describing in general something cheap and of poor quality (rubbish, junk). Used, for example, to describe souvenirs that tourists buy in New York. The item that is schlock is tchotchke (tsatska, cheap thing, trinket).
I’m walking here! (Dustin Hoffman’s “Midnight Cowboy” line, spoken in a creepy Brooklyn accent when the taxi driver nearly hits him) – “Hey, can’t you see – I’m coming.
Simply Giggle started in the home of Angela Norvold in 2006 as Simplyfirst Preschool. With a play based nature philosophy they grew quickly, and added The Cottage ( a home center next door to Angela’s home) for infants and toddlers. In 2012 the Norvold’s purchased The Giggle Factory. Angela kept the family childcare centers in her home and took the children on many nature and hands on excursions. They enjoyed exploring the St. Croix River, Lakefront Park, and Downtown Hudson. Angela spoke at early childhood conferences, wrote articles on nature and play based learning, and enjoyed guiding numerous student teachers along the way.
In 2016 demand required opening a larger childcare center in The Giggle Factory (an indoor playground)! The center was built with a home feeling; family style meals, large indoor/ outdoor activity area, and classrooms that model rooms in homes. Hudson Giggle has a community Montessori 4k adjacent to the center partnered with the Hudson School District. The Giggle Montessori fosters independence, confidence, and learning at the speed of the individual child. Spring of 2022, Simply Little was formed (Previously Little Leaps , across the street from ALDI). Simply Little has the same at home and large family feel. Simply Little will focus on infant and toddler care a as we see the need for the community. All the centers have play based learning, nature explorations, and developmentally appropriate child lead curriculum.

Preschool & Pre-K – Home Again Early Childhood Education Center
Preschool
What is Preschool? Preschool is a program that precedes Pre-Kindergarten. Our Preschool program is designed generally for children 3 to 4 years of age. Our classroom is set up according to centers and with lots of open areas for them to play and explore. We also play and explore outside on our playground designed just for children their age. Teachers help guide students with structured activities as well as free play. We work on developing skills such as: pre-literacy (letter recognition, name recognition) and pre-math (noticing simple patterns and sorting) while learning how to work with their peers.
My name is McKenzie, but you can call me Kenzie. I am have been married for seven years and have 2 daughters and a son. I enjoy reading in my spare time, traveling, cooking, spending time with my family and friends, and helping train our German Shepherds. I have been an employee at Home Again since August of 2012. I received my Certificate in Early Childhood Education as well as my Associates in Applied Science in Early Childhood Education in the summer of 2013 from Kellogg Community College. I enjoy sharing everyday experiences with the children and watching them grow.
Miss Kenzie
Pre-K
Welcome Pre-K Families! Pre-K is a program designed to prepare students ready for Kindergarten, with the general age range at 4-5 years old. The program involves routine, sensory activities, fine/gross motor exercises, language, writing, pencil grip, early mathematics, science/social studies exploration, and a more structured classroom environment to allow children an easy transition into their elementary school years. With hands-on learning, exploration of different subjects, and real-life applications, the children will learn to be independent and find excitement in learning. With the structured environment, there is always time for play. Play is an integral piece of a child’s development as it encourages the children to learn how to work with others, practice different muscle groups, and the start of print and phonemic awareness.
Hello and welcome to my Pre-K class! I am very excited to get to know you and your child. my name is Kassaundra Green, but I go by Miss Kassi. I am currently 27 years old, engaged, and a mother of four. I have two daughters, ages 8 and 9, my oldest son is 3 and our youngest will be 2 in December 2022. During my free time I enjoy spending my moments with my family, cleaning, collecting coffee mugs, and tattooing. I received my Associates degree in early childhood education from Kellogg Community College in 2020. I also currently attend Western Michigan University full time, as I am pursuing my degree in Family and Child Development. About 9 years ago, I was blessed with the opportunity to work at my first day care facility, and I completely fell in love with Early Childhood Education. I had known my entire life that I had wanted to be a teacher, and when I was granted that opportunity to be a teacher in a center, I developed a love for preschool children and their right to proper education. I am honored to be a part of Home Again staff and your Childs future.

Home again! – Russian Football Union
22:28, October 10, 2014
On Friday, October 10, the Russian national team flew from Stockholm to Moscow, where they will prepare for the qualifying match against the Moldovan team. The fight will take place on Sunday, October 12, at the Otkritie Arena stadium, starting at 20:00.
Having landed at the Sheremetyevo airport, the bus with the players of the national team stopped at the hotel for a short time, after which it went straight to the Khimki Arena stadium. True, only those players who did not take part in the match with Sweden or came on as a substitute went on board to Khimki. The training started with a noticeable delay: Friday traffic jams lengthened the travel time by at least a good half hour. The journalists, in turn, patiently waited for the session to begin, and as compensation, the session was declared fully open to the press.
While the Russian national team was jostling in traffic jams, media representatives had something to discuss from topical issues. The inaccurate translation of the post-match press conference in the Swedish newspaper Expressen almost led to a scandal. According to the publication, the head coach of the Russian national team Fabio Capello said he was dissatisfied with the actions of one player. Meanwhile, Capello, answering a question about the reasons for the stormy emotions on the edge, said the following: “I can’t be satisfied when the players are wrong. Some players allowed marriage. But for the most part, I liked the way the team played,” Capello said. It is worth adding that Expressen is considered in Sweden a tabloid publication specializing in sensationalism. In addition, at the post-match press conference, in which Capello took part, there were about thirty representatives of the media (including Russian), and no one, except for the Swedish publication, interpreted Capello’s words in this way.
Back to training. 12 outfield players worked under the guidance of Christian Panucci, while the goalkeepers warmed up with might and main with Sergey Ovchinnikov. Having warmed up well and worked with the ball, the players divided into two teams and took part in a two-sided game. As a result, the lesson lasted no more than an hour, which is not surprising, given the long road from Sweden and the game the day before. After training, Vladimir Granat and Maxim Grigoriev were delegated to answer to the press. Recall that both players were not included in the starting lineup, but came on as a substitute in the second half.
Vladimir Granat:
– We expected more. It was clear from the game that we could have won, but, unfortunately, we could not win. Nevertheless, a draw is a worthy result on the opponent’s field. I went out for a short time, helped the team as best I could. Now we are preparing for Moldova. I don’t think you should underestimate your opponent. We just need to play to our strength, as we can.
Maxim Grigoriev:
– We expected to win and should have won. I’m not happy with the result. He came on as a substitute, but spent too little time on the field to say anything. In order to beat Moldova, you need to add a conversion of chances. You need to make fewer mistakes. Add in speed and you’ll be fine!

A graduate of an orphanage managed to get back the housing that was taken from him by a scammer, thanks to two caring people – a neighbor and . .. a prosecutor
Graduates of state institutions quite rarely immediately acquire their own housing. Often they stand in line for a long time to receive apartments from the state fund and, in anticipation of the cherished meters, wander around rented apartments, houses, and more often dachas.
The boy from Ust-Kamenogorsk, about whom our newspaper wrote (see “Neighbor to neighbor – strife”, “Vremya” from 14.7.2022), one might say, was lucky. When he graduated from the Youth House, he bought a room in a hostel on Nazarbayev Avenue with the money accumulated from allowances with the help of the institution’s employees. The teachers asked the neighbors to look after their former ward, who has a slight mental retardation and, for this reason, an indefinite disability. A 27-year-old neighbor named Gulparshyn realized that it was a sin not to take advantage of the situation. The orphanage has no relatives, there is no one to intercede. The woman teamed up with her acquaintance named Adlet. The police, by the way, never found this man. Or maybe they weren’t looking.
This same Adlet, having assumed the role of a bailiff, together with Gulparshyn showed up at the newcomer and began to put pressure on him: they say you owe three million on a loan, and the apartment will be arrested.
Then, having arrived at the notary, they issued a power of attorney for Gulparshyn to order a room in a hostel. Soon, Madame sold the room for 3,200,000 tenge under a donation agreement. The money was shared with Adlet. In addition, she also withdrew 114 thousand tenge from the young man’s bank card. But Gulparshyn still “took care” of her neighbor, who, through her fault, was left without a roof over her head and a livelihood: she, according to her, asked her uncle to take the guy under her wing. And the story with this uncle is very strange. But more about him below.
In the same month, when scammers pulled off a scam with someone else’s room and the orphanage disappeared, another of his hostel neighbors sounded the alarm. He works on a rotational basis, and when he returned from another business trip, he noticed that the guy was not there. I began to take an interest in the residents and realized that something was not clean here. The man reported to the police.
The orphanage was found, sent for a medical examination and hospitalized in a mental health center. The guy, for health reasons, did not participate in investigative actions and court proceedings, therefore, according to his words, a representative, an employee of a medical institution, gave testimony.
So, the orphanage resident told the doctors that after going to the notary he was sent to Gulparshyn’s relatives in Ayagoz, where he lived and worked for free. Then some man took him back to Ust-Kamenogorsk. In the regional center, he lived “with some old man,” and then a district police inspector came for him. Gulparshyn herself said that this same old man was her uncle, who was going to take the orphanage with him to Shymkent.. .
In June last year, the court found Gulparshyn guilty of fraud and theft and sentenced her to three and a half years of restriction of liberty.
Fortunately for the orphanage resident, the legal proceedings did not end there. In his interests, the prosecutor of Ust-Kamenogorsk filed a lawsuit with the court. He asked to recognize the donation agreement concluded between Gulparshyn and a certain Aslan, who as a result got the room, is invalid. Since a deal aimed at achieving a criminal goal is void. The court ruled in favor of the plaintiff.
And now it’s time to sue Gulparshyn, the homebuyer. The failed newcomer decided to recover from the cunning madam 3,170,000 tenge, which he gave for the room under a donation agreement, and as proof of the transfer of money he brought a crushing argument: this moment was seen by a cleaning lady who washed the floors at the notary.
The man also tried to convince the court that he developed psoriasis due to nerves, and also counted on compensation for moral damage in the amount of 2 million tenge.
The second you looked at your little fur ball, you were smitten. But while your new puppy may be all licks and cuddles now, it takes work to turn that bundle of love into a perfect pooch. You’ll need to train it, giving it the tools needed to successfully interact with people and other animals throughout its life. Here’s how to give your pooch a great start.
1. Give Your Puppy Some Time
According to veterinary behaviorist Meredith Stepita, DVM, DACBV of UC Davis Veterinary Medicine, puppies should not be weaned away from their moms and litter mates until they are eight weeks old. During these first few weeks your puppy needs food, love and affection from its mother. It will be busy learning to play and acquiring social skills from siblings. Litter mates teach each other not to bite or to roughhouse too strenuously, as well as frustration tolerance. This is also a time when your puppy will be getting used to different people and learning about pack dominance. These lessons will continue in your home.
2. Welcome Puppy Home
The first few days together are exciting, with everyone getting to know each other and having a good time. Interactions may feel like fun and games, but your puppy is busy learning what to do and what not to do, whether you realize you’re teaching him or not. If you’ve taken a very young puppy into your home, it will fell vulnerable, crave security, safety and a routine, as well as love.
3. Get a Crate
Your puppy’s crate is a place of security, comfort and quiet. The crate should never be used for time outs; rather it’s a place of solitude and safety. The crate will also help to keep your home safe from puppy-created mayhem. Puppies younger than six months old should not be crated for more than two or three hours, except at night.”Crates help with house training. Even young puppies don’t like to soil their sleeping space,” says Laura Garber CPDT-KA, dog trainer and owner of WoofGang Dog Training. A key element to crating success, says Garber, is the crate’s size. If it’s too big, your puppy will learn to relieve himself on one side of the crate and sleep on the other. To small and he may feel cramped. Not only is the size of the crate important, but so is your puppy’s acclimation. Garber suggests tossing treats into the crate to help your puppy associate it with rewards. Accompany this behavior with a command, such as “In!” or “Kennel Up!” Puppies can comprehend simple commands as early as five weeks old.
4. Potty Train Your Pooch
Realistic expectations and calmness are key elements to early house training, says Alexandra Allred, a dog trainer and author of “Teaching Basic Obedience.” Your diligence is also key. The more time you spend with your puppy, the better able you will be to praise and reward it when it eliminates in the appropriate place.Sound like a responsibility? It is. Your puppy wishes to please you, but don’t try to reason with him as if he’s a furry, four-legged person,” Allred says. “This is unfair because dogs don’t process information the way humans do.”
Scheduling regular feedings, as well as potty breaks, will help him learn this behavior more quickly. Never punish your puppy for accidents.
5. Teach Good Citizenship
“The first 16 weeks of your dog’s life are a sensitive learning period, when socialization skills can be acquired in earnest,” Garber says. “This is the time to get your puppy used to people of all shapes and sizes as well as other animals, such as cats and dogs.”
She suggests carrying treats around with you to give to people who will then give them to your puppy. This helps to associate good things with all kinds of individuals and avoids your dog from becoming aggressive.
6. Combat Resource Guarding
Puppies may become territorial about their food bowls, toys or favorite people. Working with your puppy to eliminate even mild resource guarding behaviors will protect everyone, puppy included. When your puppy is little, train it to associate you and other family members with good things when you approach the guarded object. This is typically accomplished by supplying him with treats as you approach. Always make sure children show caution when nearing your puppy’s food or favorite toy.
7. Encourage Bite Inhibition
Teaching puppies not to bite is one of the most important lessons. “Behavioral problems such as biting are the No. 1 reason why animals are relinquished to shelters or put down,” says Dr. Stepita.
Establishing your place as pack leader will help your puppy remember that he must earn your respect and obey you, which will help him to curb this behavior.
“Remember that your dog craves your approval but also needs your guidance,” adds Allred. “If he bites, say ‘no!’ Then, hold his mouth closed for about a minute,” she suggests.
8. Provide Plenty of Exercise
New experiences are important for puppy development. Help stimulate your puppy’s mind with puzzle toys and appropriate playthings, as well as giving your puppy plenty of outdoor exercise. Bored dogs are more likely to engage in aggressive or inappropriate behaviors.
It’s important that your dog learn his place is in your home, but this can only be accomplished with consistency and a firm, loving hand. Only then will your puppy grow and learn to be the very best dog possible.

Puppies are so cute! It must be wonderful to have one, right? But it can also be exhausting. And the need to socialize your puppy can feel like a big responsibility.
We know that once people have had a puppy before, they typically do a better job of the socialization and training. They’ve learned from their earlier experience.
But what if this is the first time you’ve got a puppy? It’s very common to have questions about the best things to do to socialize and train your puppy. And let’s face it, even an experienced puppy guardian can have questions.
I asked some of North America’s top experts for their tips for new puppy parents. Check out these questions and answers for ways to raise your puppy game. And share with friends and family too.
I’m getting advice from all my friends and family and can’t figure out what’s the best way to punish my new puppy?
Answered by Tim Steele, Behavior Matters Academy (Twitter, Facebook).
I remember when I got my tiny little bundle of energy who bit me, ran away when I called, and pooped in the living room while looking right at me.
Sometimes I laughed. Sometimes I wondered what I’d gotten myself into. And sometimes I was downright angry.
So, I read all the books my library carried. And some of them told me to punish her with some pretty forceful methods. And I did it. But I didn’t like the results – she seemed less trusting of my hands which sometimes meant cuddles and sometimes meant that something scary was going to happen.
So, I did more reading and learned better ways. What I learned is what I try to do now with every dog I’m working with: Teach them what you want them to do and don’t worry too much about the less-preferred behaviors. Dogs do what works to produce a consequence they want (like a yummy treat) and they’ll stop doing things that don’t produce a desired outcome.
So, if we teach them that pooping outside gets them a treat, they’ll start pooping outside and not inside. If we teach them that coming to us results in a big payout of something especially tasty, they’ll learn to come reliably. If we give them a legal outlet for chewing and make it fun, they’ll play with toys instead of our hands.
No, it won’t be perfect and yes, it will take lots of repetitions for some things. For those moments when you can’t take it anymore, gently place them in a crate if they are crate trained or perhaps a playpen if they’re more comfortable there.
Nothing is more important than making sure your puppy sees you as the source of good things, fun, and safety. You’ll have the rest of their lives to teach them behaviors but your first months are key to establishing your relationship. Make the most of that time.

My puppy seems to just lose her mind a couple of times a day. She zooms and bites, and barks and I don’t know what to do!
Answered by Linda Green, Green Dogs Training.
Dogs are crepuscular creatures (more active at dusk and dawn), and puppies generally have at least a couple of periods of really active, intense play every day that coincide with these times of day. This is normal puppy behavior, even if it seems that your puppy has temporarily lost her mind and is unreachable. As your puppy grows into adolescence, these frenetic periods tend to decrease in frequency and intensity.
Rather than try to settle your puppy down during these periods (which likely won’t work and will be frustrating for both of you), try rearranging your schedule a bit to accommodate your puppy’s need to zoom. The good news is that even 10 minutes of focused, dedicated activities with your pup at these times of day can often fulfill your puppy’s activity needs at those moments and channel the out-of control behaviors that tend to present at these two times of day in particular.
Rearranging your schedule can be difficult if you also have human puppies. This frenetic time seems to overlap in both species! Ask for help if you can, and remember that your pup will mature out of this fairly quickly.
If possible, try to set up your puppy’s morning and late afternoon routine to fulfill her needs and to give her a predictable structure to allow her to blow off steam and then enjoy some quieter independent enrichment while you take care of other familial responsibilities. Routine is really important for puppies.
Most younger puppies get up in the early morning and need to go out to relieve themselves immediately. Then they are ready to rumble, and they are also hungry. They are not going to let you go back to bed for another 15 minutes of snoozing after they potty.
AndrejLV/Shutterstock
This is a great time to toss toys, play chase, take a sniffari or a morning walk, play tug or use a flirt pole with your pup for 10 to 15 minutes. After they have gotten some of their energy out, you can feed their breakfast in a food-dispensing puzzle toy, and take them out for another potty break. After burning off some energy and filling their tummies, most pups are receptive to a nap or some quiet time in their crate with a delicious chew object, giving you time to shower and dress, get the kids up and breakfasted, laundry done, or otherwise get the human half of the household ready for the day.
Problems arise when the human half of the team gets the pup up and out for a potty break, and then tries to multitask (or cuddle with you while you go back to bed). Pups have recharged their batteries for 8 to 12 hours during the night and they NEED to expend that energy! Guide them here or they will invent fun games that humans tend not to enjoy so much!
The second frenetic period in the day usually coincides with early evening/dinner time for families; somewhere between 4 and 6 pm. I often refer to this as the ‘witching hour’ because both canine and human young can be really intense about this time of day. If you have come home tired from work and want to chill for a bit, you are likely going to find yourself at odds with your pup, who may have been snoozing for hours and is ready for action.
Some structured and interactive play, sniffing and nosework games, a training session, game of chase, tug, flirt, or a good off-leash play session with other dogs or humans in the late afternoon/early evening will help your pup channel that over-the-top energy into positive and non-destructive areas, and help you build your bond with your pup. If your pup is social, dog-dog play is one of the best ways for your pup to spend that energy, tiring her out physically, mentally and emotionally.
On days when you are too tired or don’t have the time, look into a good doggy daycare or dog walker to help your pup channel that excess energy in positive ways, allowing both of you to relax and chill on the sofa on those long work days.
Chewing is highly engaging and relaxing for most dogs, so if you really need your pup to settle during a frenetic period, a high-value chew like a bully stick or stuffed Kong can deflect the zoomies temporarily while you take that unplanned Zoom call. But dogs NEED to move, chase and play, so try to program times in your day to allow your dog to be a dog and do her version of Zoom!
Help! I’m not getting any sleep. What do I do?
Answered by K. Holden Svirsky (Instagram)
Puppyhood is exhausting. My sleeping and eating patterns changed significantly when I brought home my puppy, funnily enough named ZZ. I got way fewer “Zs” and I swear, I used to actually plan and cook meals other than macaroni & cheese!
While most people understand and expect to be losing sleep with a new, human baby in the home, we don’t think about how the same caretaking rituals and sacrifices are required for baby dogs. And most jobs don’t give pup-ternity leave!
The good news is that puppyhood is much, much shorter than childhood. Even if it feels like it will never happen, you will eventually get back to a more normal routine.
To get there as efficiently as possible, do the following:
Write down exactly what your puppy’s schedule is today. For every hour of a 24 hour cycle, write down whether your puppy is awake or asleep.
Try to use this information to plan your own sleep times (“sleep when the baby sleeps”).
Set alarms on your smartphone for mid-night potty breaks.
Then, each day, systematically push back these potty breaks by five minutes per night.
It can be incredibly helpful to have a co-parent. I’m a night-owl so I give my puppy his last potty break at 11:00pm after everyone is asleep. A family member takes him out first thing at 6:00am so I can sleep in. After the 6:00am potty break, he goes back into his crate next to my bed to sleep until I wake up. The 6:00am break used to be a 3:00am and 6:00am break, but I slowly pushed them back. Eventually my puppy will sleep until I wake up.
It’s worth repeating that this is temporary. Dogs grow up fast. And most dogs need much more sleep than humans. Your puppy will eventually sleep through the night (and probably take a mid-day nap too!).

I just don’t have time to train my new puppy.
Answered by Eileen Holst, Great Day Dog Training.
There’s no doubt about it, puppies keep you busy. Adding those extra responsibilities on to work, family and life obligations can sometimes feel overwhelming.
Even so, bringing home a puppy who will depend on you for over a decade for their health and happiness means you will have to fit them into your schedule.
Here’s the good news, you don’t have to do everything right now. Prioritize the two things that will be the foundation for a happy future for your puppy and you: socialization and housetraining.
Being comfortable around what life brings them will make for a content dog. Not having pee and poop in the house will make for a content human.
Once those are under your belt, carve out the time for a basic manners class, leash training, enrichment or any other tools you will need for a long, joyful life with your dog.
I took my puppy out to pee but they didn’t pee. What should I do?
Answered by Vanessa Charbonneau, Sit Pretty Pet Services, and author of Dog Care for Puppies: A Guide to Feeding, Playing, Grooming, and Behavior. (Facebook, Instagram).
I would encourage you to take your puppy outside for bathroom breaks on a leash to keep them from getting distracted or playing, as well as taking them to a consistent ‘potty spot’ in the yard.
Once at the spot, stop and become a statue – avoid talking to or interacting with your puppy, as this can sidetrack them from the task at hand.
When your puppy does eliminate, have a celebration! Use treats, praise and, if safe to do so, unclip their leash and transition into backyard play time to reward them for their potty success!
When your puppy does not eliminate during a potty outing, we consider them “full,” meaning, they might have to go at any minute! These puppies are at risk of having an accident in the house, so I recommend utilizing some sort of confinement, such as a crate or exercise pen, to limit their access.
The smaller confinement area is to encourage your puppy to hold their bladder until their next potty break. As a rule, puppies don’t usually like to eliminate where they sleep, so will be less inclined to soil in this area.
Confine your puppy for about 10-15 minutes then take them outside to the potty spot to try again. You should repeat this process of potty break, 10-minute confinement, and so on until your puppy successfully eliminates during a potty trip, at which point we consider them ‘empty’, and they are much safer to give freedom (within reason) to inside the house!

My puppy won’t walk! He sits down and won’t budge.
It is so frustrating! What am I to do?
Answered by Bonnie Hartney, Ocean Park Dog Training (Facebook, Instagram).
Puppy parents report it happens with every neighbourhood walk. Luring with food sometimes helps but forward progress is painstakingly slow. Amazingly once they turn around, the puppy happily walks home.
So what could be going on? Why are confident, curious puppies unwilling to go forward?
I discovered anecdotally 4 out of 5 puppies won’t walk, which suggests the behaviour may be hardwired. Could there be an evolutionary advantage afforded to puppies who stay close to home?
When we consider that puppies are defenceless, it makes sense. Historically stay-at-home pups survived. Those who wandered away were picked off by predators. Natural selection favours puppies who stay near their home den.
Our modern pet dogs may very well have retained those ancient genes.
So if you have a puppy who won’t walk, stop and celebrate this amazing connection to the past. Be patient as it probably feels wrong for the puppy to leave home. Fortunately that feeling doesn’t last long.
In fact, the behaviour seems to fade about the time adult teeth come in. What a beautiful adaptation to keep puppies safe until better equipped to defend themselves.
Let me share a tip. If you have a puppy who puts on the brakes, first take her for a short drive or carry for a distance. The puppy will then merrily walk forward to experience positive socialization in your community. Happy walking!
My friend said to make sure my puppy doesn’t become possessive about her food by sticking my hand in her bowl while she’s eating. But my puppy seems to get annoyed when I do this.
Answered by Jessica Ring, My Fantastic Friend (Facebook, Instagram).
It’s a great idea to teach your puppy to love when you come near while they’re eating or chewing.
Even though resource guarding or possessiveness of coveted items is a completely normal behavior for dogs—it was helpful to their ancestor’s survival after all—we can teach puppies that there’s no need to guard their treasures from humans.
Rather than worry or annoy your puppy by putting your hand in her food dish, let’s instead teach her that fabulous things happen for her when you come nearby while she’s eating.
At first, walk past her at a distance and toss a special treat near or into the food bowl. Make sure the treat is something much better than the food she’s got in the bowl.
If she’s totally comfortable, and ideally perking up with anticipation of the yummy bonus, gradually walk closer to the bowl.
The sequence is important. 1) Walk near the bowl. 2) Reach for and toss the tasty bonus. 3) Walk away and pause for a bit before repeating.
Pretty soon, your puppy will look forward to you coming near when she’s eating, because it means something even more fabulous for her! You can do the same thing when your puppy is working a chew. (Please note that a qualified trainer can help if your pup is showing more serious signs of resource guarding.)

My puppy was fine the first few times she got her nails trimmed at the vet, but the last time I took her, they said she was growling and biting and screaming and they couldn’t do her nails. I don’t understand, she lets me touch her paws when she’s cuddling with me. How do I convince my puppy to not be aggressive for nail trims?
Answered by Joan Forry, The Dog Abides (Facebook, Instagram)
This is a very common issue! Puppies who were once amenable to body handling at 10 weeks old can develop aversions to handling and husbandry procedures as they age.
We can think of our puppy’s experiences with body handling like a bank account. Every happy experience your puppy has with handling is like a ten dollar deposit.
We have to work hard to build up the balance in your puppy’s account to insure that they’ll continue to feel happy about handling. If your puppy has a worrisome experience, think of it like a fifty dollar withdrawal. You’ll have to replenish and repay that withdrawal to get your puppy’s account balance back up to where it was. If your puppy only has $70 in their account, a $50 withdrawal is going to feel huge. But, if your puppy has $1500 in their account, that $50 withdrawal may not be so dire.
Unfortunately, many puppies’ accounts become overdrawn quickly with scary experiences. We should always aim to avoid withdrawals and keep that balance growing and growing.
We can best prevent the development of aversion to handling, and subsequent fear and aggression, by using training to help our dogs be comfortable with body handling. It’s never too early to start on this kind of training!
How do I do this kind of training? Here are my five tips for getting started:
1. Break it down into small parts. Start with merely reaching for your puppy’s paw, touching lightly for a second or two, and then feeding them a piece of chicken.
2. Use food. Always follow up any kind of handling with something delicious for your puppy. Yes, *always.* Always introduce new tools, like nail clippers and files, with a generous followup of delicious food. All your puppy has to do is notice the implement in the first steps to begin to build a positive emotional response.
3. Be aware of context. Touching paws during a cuddle session is nice, but it’s very different than trimming nails, just like kissing is not the same as going to the dentist. In addition, your puppy might be perfectly fine with you touching them at home, but they might be worried about strangers touching them or they might be worried about being touched when they’re in a strange environment. Practice in lots of environments.
4. Let your dog say “no.” If your puppy pulls away, runs away, growls, or bites, stop! Your puppy is using the tools they have to express their feelings and preferences about what is happening. They are not being mean, dominant, dramatic, or stubborn. If you force them, you risk the behavior getting worse. It’s okay to take a step back in your training if your puppy is uncomfortable.
5. Ask for help. If you’re having trouble, reach out to a qualified trainer for help. This is not something your puppy will grow out of, or something that will get better on its own. This is an issue that can compromise your dog’s welfare over the course of their lifespan. Early, careful intervention with an incremental training plan is essential. In addition to guiding your training, your trainer should be able to guide you to the appropriate tools for your puppy. We are so lucky to live in a time where we have lots of creative solutions for managing our dogs’ nail care! Scratchboards, grinders, and files are lovely alternatives to clippers.
Above all, remember that your puppy is your friend! Help your friend feel good about nail trims and body handling so they can enjoy a long, happy life of pedicures and handling.

My vet said not to let my puppy meet other dogs until they’re fully vaccinated.
Answered by Maria Karunungan of Fetch the Leash (Facebook, Instagram).
Your veterinarian’s expertise is primarily medical (unless they are a veterinary behaviorist), with some overlap into behavior because, as we know, nothing in life operates in a clean, compartmentalized vacuum.
I like to weigh opinions like these by asking what the specific risks are, and if there are areas to avoid while engaging in the important endeavor of socializing your puppy. For example, it’s possible that there is a local outbreak of parvovirus in the area, and if that is the case, your veterinarian is highly likely to know this.
The risks of being partially vaccinated should be weighed against the behavioral risks of not getting your puppy vital life experiences that could teach them that the world is mostly safe.
The AVSAB has a position statement that strongly urges puppy owners to socialize their puppies during the first three months of life.
“Incomplete or improper socialization during this important time can increase the risk of behavioral problems later in life including fear, avoidance, and/or aggression. Behavioral problems are the number one cause of relinquishment to shelters. Behavioral issues, not infectious diseases, are the number one cause of death for dogs under three years of age. ”
The fact that behavioral issues stemming from lack of socialization can actually be more life threatening, and pose greater statistical risk than medical issues stemming from exposure to disease, puts many puppy owners in a quandary.
I recommend navigating this by finding safe opportunities to let your puppy experience the world. One example includes puppy classes. Screen your puppy class options by asking the trainer if floors are disinfected, and if other puppies are required to show proof their vaccine series has started — the answer to both questions should be yes.
Also ask if the class allows puppies to play with each other during class. The answer to that, ideally, is also yes. (See Zazie Todd’s writing on puppy play in puppy classes).
The benefit from classes is that your puppy not only gets to meet other puppies in a safe environment, but also has the added benefit of the trainer’s expertise to help manage play. Do choose a trainer that will only use reward-based methods and will not use aversive techniques with your puppy — as this can completely undermine your socialization efforts if your puppy becomes scared or frightened.
Other options include introducing your puppy to friends’ and neighbors’ dogs, provided they are vaccinated, well-cared for, and enjoy playing with puppies. Posting to a local online community forum seeking like-minded puppy owners in your area might be a great way to organize some quality socialization, while allowing you to establish some ground rules for the meet-up (such as venue, and proof that vaccines have been started).
And of course, socialization is not only about meeting other dogs, but really about providing your puppy with a broad range of experiences that signal to them that new things in life are fun, and safe.
I was standing outside my local supermarket with my puppy in my arms, with the aim of socializing them. But someone saw me giving my puppy treats and came over and yelled that I was spoiling them and needed to show them who’s boss. What should I have done?
Answered by Zazie Todd, Companion Animal Psychology (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter).
Isn’t it frustrating when a self-appointed dog “expert” gives you unwanted “advice”—especially when they are rude about it too?
First of all, well done for taking your puppy to a safe place for socialization. Not everyone knows it, but your puppy simply observing other people from a safe distance counts as socialization. It’s really important to give puppies a wide range of positive experiences during the sensitive period for socialization (which is from 3 until about 12-14 weeks).
Unfortunately when someone comes and yells at you, that’s likely no longer a positive experience. So it’s great that you had treats handy because whenever anything seems to be going a bit wrong, you can use treats to try and turn it into a positive experience, and also get some distance from the thing (or person) that is potentially upsetting your puppy. Try not to get rattled yourself, and use a bit of happy talk to help your pup along too.
Sadly, dog training is not regulated, and a lot of people still have outdated ideas about how to train dogs and puppies. So there are still a lot of people out there whose “advice” will be completely wrong. It’s generally best to ignore them. In a situation like this where someone is hard to ignore, you can always say “Sorry I have to go now,” and go away. You don’t owe them an explanation and you don’t have to get in an argument with them.
In the long run, hopefully people will get more clued up about dog behaviour. Sharing posts with good information (like this one) will help to spread the word.

10 tips for raising and training a puppy
When deciding to get a dog, most people do not even think about what they will have to face later. As a result, sometimes, with the connivance of the owner, a cute fluffy ball turns into a naughty, arrogant and even evil beast that can terrorize the whole family. Therefore, the tips on education and training that we have selected for you will come in handy. Because only the right work in this direction can make your puppy an intelligent, obedient dog. nine0004
1. Prepare before you buy a puppy . Many people, having seen a dog from friends, on the street or in a picture, immediately decide to get one for themselves. This is mistake.
Each breed has its own characteristics. Some dogs can lie on the mat for hours, melancholy looking around. Others need hourly outdoor activities. Still others get along well with children, while others will not allow their peace to be disturbed. nine0005
It is important to choose a dog that will not only please the eye, but also suit your rhythm and lifestyle.
2. Educate from the first day
Sometimes you can find information on the net about when to start parenting. Some new owners bide their time and miss the moment.
The dog’s learning process starts from the moment it crosses the threshold. Do not confuse upbringing with training, since only adult animals with a formed nervous system are exposed to it. nine0005
Immediately outline the boundaries of the dog’s behavior. First of all, define for yourself the limits of what you are ready to allow her, including when she grows up, and what you will not allow in her behavior. She must not break these rules.
3. Patience
Be patient. It is very important to restrain negative emotions, although they will certainly arise in the process of raising a puppy.
Remember that the dog tries its best to understand you, but due to the peculiarities of communication, it may not do it right away. Don’t shout or wave your arms. Dogs consider this behavior inadequate, and will not listen to such an owner. Moreover, any manifestation of violence against a dog is unacceptable. nine0005
To show your dissatisfaction with the puppy’s behavior, it is best to pat him by the withers. So would his mother. It’s a canine way of communicating.
Dog training happens all the time, so you need to be consistent. If you are strict with the dog when training, then do not let him play pranks in everyday life.
4. A dog is not a member of the family
New dog owners often make this mistake. They treat their pets like people. As a result, they forget that they are dealing with a dog that perceives this situation in its own way. nine0005
For a dog, you and everyone who lives in the house are part of the pack. There is a very clear hierarchy in this pack. The dog determines from the first days who will be the leader in the house and what position he will take.
Putting an animal on the same level of hierarchy with yourself, you automatically give it a loophole. The dog will always strive to become a leader and take a dominant position. As a result, obedience can be forgotten.
This does not mean that you have to be strict and cold with your pet. This advice only means that the rules of the game for dogs and people are different. nine0005
5. Don’t let your puppy play with things that he can’t chew on later. To do this, he must have special toys.
And yet, do not forget about the freedom of the animal. Let him explore space. Let him play. Walk your puppy more so that he gets tired and goes to bed. This is especially important in the evening. For you, this is an opportunity to breathe fresh air and enjoy communication with your pet, and for him – the opportunity to develop properly. nine0005
Therefore, he should be allowed to play outside with children, other dogs and animals.
6. Negative reinforcement
We have already talked about the inadmissibility of violence against an animal and that instead of hitting a puppy, you can lightly pat the withers, it can also be a light jerk on the leash on the street.
However, there is one more item that must be observed strictly.
It should be understood that dogs do not have a causal relationship, so punishment is possible only when the puppy commits an unwanted action. nine0005
Punishment should immediately follow the offense. If you punish a dog for something done during your absence or after a while, then your pet will not understand the reason for the punishment and will simply feel that you are your offender.
Such “unreasonable” punishments will contribute to the development of fear of the owner and greatly complicate education.
7. Positive reinforcement
In the case of positive reinforcement, there must also be timeliness. The dog needs to be made clear why he was praised. nine0005
It is not necessary to use food exclusively for this. It can be stroking, chatting or playing.
For the dog to obey you, you need to use only clear commands. To do this, define not only the words (“sit”, “lie”, “place”), but also gestures. So the dog will understand you more clearly. For an animal, gesticulation is of paramount importance, non-living voice communication. The movements you choose should be specific enough to stand out from everything you do in your daily life. nine0005
Reward your pet immediately after completing the command.
8. Be smart
It often happens that the dog behaves approximately in your presence, but as soon as you leave, pranks begin. For example, you leave for work, and your puppy turns over the bin every day and throws garbage all over the house.
This situation is also dangerous. The dog can eat something unintended for him and get sick. nine0005
It is useless to punish the puppy in this case. Digging through the garbage is not a crime for him, but only fun. When you return, the negative reinforcement will no longer work – he will not understand why he is being scolded.
There are several ways in this case. Based on the first, you can remove the irritant to a place inaccessible to him, but there is a chance that he will find it again.
This is where ingenuity can come in handy. Soak a cotton ball in nail polish remover and place it in a bucket, then cover with a lid. The next time the puppy climbs there, he will not like the smell very much. A short acquaintance with him will not discourage the dog’s sense of smell and will not harm her, but once and for all will discourage the desire to rummage through the garbage. nine0005
There are persistent puppies, if necessary, this trick can be repeated.
9. First command
The first command to teach the puppy is its name.
Note that the nickname replaces the command “to me”. It is necessary to train her while walking with a pet or playing.
Call the puppy, and if he comes, give him a treat or pet him. Then step back and repeat. nine0005
Do not repeat the command too often. Note that it is better to play with the puppy after a little training, so as not to tire him.
The same principle works for all commands.
10. Toilet
To toilet train your dog, it is best to start with a limited area.
Immediately after sleep, take your pet to a disposable diaper, because it is during this period that he immediately relieves a small need.
We wait until he does all his business. If the puppy does not sit down and tries to leave, then stubbornly return him to the diaper. Once you have achieved what you want, immediately use positive reinforcement. nine0005
This should be done every time after sleeping, feeding or during play.
Note that you can determine when a dog wants to go to the toilet by its behavior. As a rule, the puppy starts to spin, trying to find a suitable place for this.
As soon as the puppy begins to visit the toilet regularly, you can go outside.
To do this, take a diaper with puppy urine, cut it into several pieces and take it out to the walking area.
You need to walk on the street according to the same principle by which you accustomed your pet to a diaper. nine0005
Attention!
Our advice will only work at the initial stage, when you have just purchased a puppy. In order to reach mutual understanding with your pet and raise a well-mannered, and most importantly, adequate dog, you need to read specialized literature or contact specialists.

Puppy training: how to properly raise a dog
“Praise for a correctly performed action is 2 times more effective than punishment for a mistake,” cynologists say. Therefore, it is possible to wean a puppy from pulling a leash, barking at passers-by and biting during the game without slaps in the face, a strict collar and screaming. We talk about raising a puppy using the method of positive reinforcement and analyze common mistakes of owners.
Getting Started
Raising a baby starts from the first day in a new home. First, the puppy is introduced to his nickname, then they show his place, lead him through all the rooms to which access will be open, and teach him to use the toilet. If the puppy is in quarantine, the toilet will be organized in the house. If the quarantine is over, the animal is accustomed to the street. nine0005
It is better to pick up a puppy from the kennel at 2.5 – 3 months. At this age, he easily lends himself to basic training, quickly becomes attached to the owner and has already passed the mandatory vaccination.
Nickname
To practice the reaction to the nickname, feed your pet a treat. Name a nickname and offer a piece. And so on until the dog learns to fix its attention on its own.
One lesson should not exceed 5 minutes. The number of repetitions depends on the breed of the animal. For example, poodles or border collies learn faster, while beagles who are stubborn and poorly generalize new information need additional consolidation of knowledge. nine0005
Place
To make your pet sleep in its place, wait until late in the evening, play outdoor games with it, feed it well and put it on a bed.
To keep your puppy on the bed rather than following you, offer him toys to chew on and sit next to him.
It usually takes 20 to 30 minutes to go to bed. During this time, do not talk to the puppy and do not look in his direction. If the animal tries to get up from the bed, silently return it to its place. nine0005
The first night with a puppy is the most revealing. If you want your dog to sleep in his own place and not in your bed, puppy training must be consistent. Taking a pet to bed once, you will lay the wrong behavior pattern, and it will be more difficult to wean the animal from a bad habit.
To receive timely correction, the pet must be under constant supervision.
To correct your puppy’s actions, be attentive to his behavior. When the animal begins to sniff, spin in one place or sit down, take it to the tray or to the diaper. If successful, praise and reward with a treat. nine0005
Rewards are effective only at the time of the action.
To reward your puppy for doing the right thing, treats should always be available. Carry a few pieces in your clothing pocket or keep bowls around the house. If you offer a treat a minute after the action, the correct association will not form.
The animal does not connect past events with present rewards.
If the puppy did go to the toilet in the wrong place, carefully wipe the surface with a tissue and take it to the litter box or on a diaper. Wash the stained surface with a chlorine-containing agent or a special odor neutralizer from a pet store.
Outside toilet
Quarantine is over and you have started taking your puppy for a walk. New people, the sounds of passing cars and other dogs are very distracting, and the animal only remembers the toilet in a calm home environment. nine0005
To prevent this from happening, choose quiet yards with as few distractions as possible and walk the same route so the dog gets used to it. If successful, actively praise and reward with treats.
When the animal gets older, the route can be gradually extended.
Training methods
How to train a puppy
Before you train a puppy yourself or choose a trainer, decide on the method of education. There are three of them in world practice: contrast, mechanical and operant. In some cases, they can be combined:
The contrast method of education consists in actively encouraging correct actions and actively correcting mistakes.
Suitable for correcting life-threatening behavior. For example, if a pet enters the roadway or gnaws on live electrical wires.
Use only as a last resort.
Pros:
– fast learning speed;
– high level of obedience.
Cons:
– the risk of developing aggression towards a person;
– suppression of will and breed characteristics (the animal will not be able to make an independent decision in a stressful situation).
Mechanical method of education provides for physical impact. For example, pressing the croup when learning the “sit” command or pulling the leash when learning the “fu” or “near” command.
Suitable as an auxiliary element for correcting command execution.
Use occasionally if you stand in one place for a long time, and not earlier than at the 6th or even 8th month of the pet’s life.
Pros:
– correction of old habits;
– high learning rate.
Cons:
– education of passivity;
– refusal to solve the simplest problems.
The operant method of education is based on positive reinforcement. The dog is rewarded for correct actions and is not punished for mistakes. nine0005
Suitable as the basis of the educational process from the first months of a puppy’s life and into adulthood.
Use when practicing any command and social behavior skills.
Pluses:
– a strong base for raising an enterprising dog;
– getting rid of the fear of training;
– the formation of a strong bond between the pet and the owner.
Cons:
– the speed of assimilation of new information. nine0005
How to start training your puppy
Training your puppy requires strong management tools. Without them, the pet will not be able to keep attention and will not understand what is required of him.
We are talking about the development of food and play motivation – the ability to work for a piece or a toy, and perceive them as a reward.
For some breeds, such as service breeds, this is easy, for others, for example, aboriginals, it is difficult.
Here are the basic principles to follow from the start:
To turn food into value, train when your puppy is hungry and integrate new exercises into your daily routine – for example, offer a bowl of food only after a command is given. It can be a call “to me”, a complex “sit – lie down – stand” or any other team learned the day before.
To arouse interest in toys, choose them according to the size of the mouth and the weight of the animal and initiate the game yourself. Usually a hollow ball on a rope that can be rolled on the floor like a kitten helps. nine0005
Consider the pet’s age when learning commands. Don’t give exercises that the puppy can’t handle. This will reduce the motivation to learn and the animal will feel insecure. However, you do not need to stagnate in one place either. This will cause your pet to get bored and move on to something more interesting.
Here is an approximate training plan for the first six months of a dog’s life:
6 months – dog playground and group lessons with an instructor.
Acquaintance with the big world begins with the arrival of guests at the house and the first exit for a walk.
The main task of socialization is to cope with overexcitation. The puppy actively pulls the leash, jumps, barks, rushes to other dogs or, on the contrary, is very afraid of them. To avoid this, use calming exercises and focus on cultivating concentration on the owner. nine0005
Here are the basic rules for successful socialization:
Do not let your dog go for a walk in an excited state.
Do not forget to praise and reward with a treat when the pet walks nearby and calmly reacts to passers-by.
Do not let your pet play with other puppies for more than 10 minutes. This undermines interest in what the host has to offer.
Find a company of adult trained dogs who will teach the puppy the basic skills of intraspecific behavior. nine0356
Memo to the owner
7 main mistakes in training puppies
Ignoring individual and breed characteristics. Each breed has its own working qualities. Shepherd and service people are human-oriented, so they are ready to work a lot. Terriers are stubborn and independent. Moreover, their gaming motivation is stronger than food. Aborigines have passed the minimum path of evolution from the wolf, and do not tolerate aggression against them. If you build the training process in isolation from the breed and character of the pet, progress will be slow, and improperly selected training methods will lead to destructive behavior. nine0356
Troubleshooting. If the dog jumps on guests, growls when his bowl is touched, or is afraid to go outside, the behavior requires timely correction. If you put up with already formed bad habits, new ones will soon appear.
Lack of positive reinforcement. If the puppy followed the command, but did not receive a reward, the motivation for further work will be weak.
Belated behavioral correction. nine0202 The dog does not connect the actions committed in the past with the punishment it bears in the present. Therefore, scolding a pet for shoes that were damaged in your absence or a puddle left on the floor is useless.
Ill-conceived training process . If you give your pet more than he can absorb, or repeat the same exercise several times in a row, the animal will get bored and switch to something else.
Conducting classes when you feel unwell. nine0202 If the owner or dog is in a bad mood or in poor physical shape, it is better to refuse training.

Today, education plays a significant role in the continued success of a huge number of people in our world. A good level of education allows people to expand their thinking abilities, broaden their horizons and acquire specific knowledge and skills in certain industries. Many parents today strive to give their children a good education from an early age. For example, they take them to various clubs, take them to specialized kindergartens and schools, pay for tuition at prestigious universities and other educational institutions. Many people today are taking advantage of various educational investment programs, primarily due to the restrictions associated with the coronavirus. During the last few years, people have been restricted in their movements and contacts with other people. This is primarily due to the fact that the coronavirus spreads very quickly when communicating with other people. Many organizations, including educational institutions, were forced to switch to a remote work format in order to fully continue their activities. It should be said that today in various educational institutions there are still problems associated with various forms of discrimination. For example, it can be discrimination based on gender, skin color, social status, and so on. Such problems become less and less every year, and various organizations use new methods to solve them. Equal rights in various educational institutions should exist for all applicants, regardless of their age, gender, income, religion, and so on. nine0003
Today there are many popular ways to make payments around the world . Every day, billions of different transactions related to the movement of funds take place in the world. People and companies daily purchase various goods and services, pay off previously taken loans, pay taxes and fees, and so on. Today, there are a large number of different effective ways to make all these payments. The most popular today are the so-called electronic payments, which are made in a virtual mode, by transferring information from one digital medium to another. Such payments have a huge number of advantages, for example, they are very fast, convenient to execute for a huge number of customers, have a high level of security and low cost. Today, modern financial companies offer their customers various types of efficient digital payment services. In the process of making digital payments, companies provide their customers with a unique opportunity not to use bank cards and accounts when conducting various financial transactions. Paxum is a modern payment intermediary, which today is already represented in more than 25 countries around the world. The company provides a huge number of its customers with various types of popular digital payment services. nine0003
The importance of education in the modern world
Today, almost every person receives education in one form or another during his life. We attend schools and universities, attend various professional training programs, receive prestigious business education, and so on. Various prestigious universities today offer their clients really effective education programs in a particular field. One of the main criteria for the effectiveness of education is the success of its graduates after the end of the curriculum. Also, many educational institutions today create distance learning programs, during which students can not physically attend educational institutions, but receive and process all educational materials remotely. The availability and effectiveness of distance education allows this form of education to gain more and more popularity, while students themselves can be convinced of the effectiveness of such education on the example of their friends and acquaintances. nine0003
The need for equality in education
As we have said before, non-discrimination and equality in education is the cornerstone of an effective education system. According to the constitutions of almost any country in the world, any person has the right to an effective education, regardless of their gender, age, social status, religious and other beliefs, and so on. In many countries of the world, especially in poor countries, there is still sometimes segregation of students and applicants into groups, depending primarily on social factors, such as family income. It is hard to ban such groups, but there are many organizations that seek to spread useful information about the detrimental effect such segregation has on people. nine0003
Why did I go to Africa? You can’t answer this question right away. It’s just that every day life became more and more complicated, and finally everything was completely confused. When buying a plane ticket, I thought about my fifty-five years, and I was seized by longing – such that it squeezed my chest … Then the crazy pre-departure race began. I had to visit my parents, both wives, mistresses, children, I had to visit the farm, take care of the four-legged. And of course, my habits, my money, my music lessons, my teeth, my prejudices, my drinking, and – most importantly – my soul! I wanted to scream, “Leave me alone!” But how can they leave me alone? They belong to me. They are mine. They pile up around me and life turns into chaos. And yet the world, which I have always considered the oppressor of man, did not unleash its wrath on me. nine0003
To still explain why I went to Africa, I have to state some facts. I’ll start with the simplest and most understandable – with money. I am a rich person. Inherited from his old man three million net, after taxes. But the problem is that I consider myself a rogue tramp, in a word, the last ass, and there are good reasons for that. The main thing is that I have always lived as a vagabond, a swindler and the last ass. When it became unbearable, I looked into books, hoping to find soothing advice, and then one day I read: “The forgiveness of our sins is inescapable, it does not require either piety or virtue.” The statement so struck me that for several days I mentally repeated it. I don’t remember in which book I came across it. My father collected several thousand volumes, not counting those that he wrote himself. I went through fifty, but found only money. My father used to use as bookmarks the banknotes that happened in his pocket – fives, tens, twenties. There were also a few banknotes from thirty years ago. I was glad: they reminded me of the past. Having locked myself in the library from the children, I climbed onto the ladder, leafing through and shaking volume after volume, but only money, money, money fell on the floor. I never found the covenant of eternal forgiveness. nine0003
Next fact. I am an Ivy League graduate. I will not name him, there is no need to cast a shadow on the alma mater. If I didn’t have the last name Henderson and wasn’t my father’s son, I would have been kicked out of my freshman year.
What else? My mother’s birth was difficult. I weighed fourteen pounds. Then he grew up. I am now six foot four and weigh two hundred and thirty pounds. Lanky, awkward, with a huge head and hair like astrakhan fur. A long nose, eyes under lowered eyelids that do not look, but seem to be looking out for something. Rough manners. There were three of us children in the family, but I survived alone. My father had the benevolence to forgive me for this, although I was not sure that he forgave me from the bottom of his heart. nine0003
When it was time to get married, to please my father, I chose a girl of our circle – tall, elegant, beautiful, long-legged, with golden hair and excellent inclinations for childbearing. I hope none of her family will mind if I add that she is also a schizophrenic. I myself am considered a person with a shift, and rightly so: I am gloomy, rude, quick-tempered, in a word, all signs of a mental disorder. Judging by the age of the children, we were married for about twenty years. The children’s names are Edward, Rice, Alice. I don’t remember the names of two more. God bless them all! nine0003
I work hard, in my own way. In fact, work is flour, so sometimes I get drunk without even waiting for lunch. Shortly after returning from the war (I was declared unfit for military service because of my age, but I went to Washington and beat the thresholds until I got a commission in the active army), Francis and I divorced. After Victory Day Is it really that fast? Can not be! Perhaps in forty-eight. Anyway, she is in Switzerland now, and one of our children is with her. I have no idea why she has a son or daughter there. nine0003
I was happy about the divorce, opened a new page in my life. I had already chosen a new woman, and soon we were married. My second wife’s name is Lily, her maiden name is Simmons. We have two twin sons.
At first, Lily and I got on very well, but then everything went wrong, the hassle began. We quarreled with Lily more often and more seriously than with the first wife. Frances tried to ignore my antics. She was like Percy Bysshe Shelley’s lover: a lonely moon, shining but not warming. And Lily easily flared up with a hot flame of discord. I insulted her in public and cursed her with my last words when we were alone. Maybe life changes for the better affected me negatively – I considered troubles to be the norm. Every now and then I got into fights in the saloons around my farm, and the police locked me in a cell. I shouted that I would buy them wholesale or retail, and they would show me where the crayfish hibernate, if I were not the most visible figure in the area. Lily came in the morning, paid bail, and they let me go. Once I got into a big fight with a guy over my best sow. Another time I had a big fight with a snowplow driver who wanted me to give way to him on Federal Highway 7. A couple of years ago, drunk fell off a tractor and broke his leg. For several months I hobbled about on crutches, threatening to hit everyone I met. I got angry, cursed, bared my teeth ominously… No wonder no one dared to stand in my way. nine0003
Lily liked to arrange tea parties for ladies she knew. Imagine: thumping my crutch, I stumble into the living room in stale socks and a red velvet dressing gown, which I bought in Paris in joy on the day Frances announced that she was filing for divorce, and in a red wool cap. Wiping my nose with my fist and shuffling heavily with my cast leg, I extend my hand to the guest: “Allow me to introduce myself, I am Mr. Henderson … How are you?” Then I go up to Lily and also introduce myself as a stranger. The surprised ladies must have whispered: “He thinks he is married to the first one. Nightmare, right? nine0003
Then Lily reproached me: “Gene, aren’t you tired of breaking comedy? What are you up to?”
I, sticking out my butt, scraped the floor with my cast leg and puffed, imitating an old steam locomotive: “Knock knock, knock knock”.
When I was brought from the hospital in this filthy plaster cast, I accidentally overheard Lily saying to someone on the phone: “Nothing special, just another accident. He’s a living man.” tenacious! I don’t know whether to be happy or angry.
Perhaps Lily wanted to be joking. She generally likes to joke, and especially on the phone. nine0003
Lily is a large, lively woman. Her face is pleasant, her character too. We were not bad at all, and best of all at the time of her late pregnancy. Before falling asleep, I rubbed her stomach and chest with baby cream. The pink nipples were turning brown and I could hear babies moving in my stomach.
I massaged carefully, trying not to hurt her with my clumsy fingers. Then he turned off the light, wiped his fingers on his hair, we kissed and fell asleep, smelling of baby cream.
Then the quarrels began. I interpreted the remark about my vitality in a negative sense for myself, although I knew that she did not mean anything like that. And I didn’t like that she poses herself as the mistress of the house and a true lady, because the only heir to a big name and a rich estate is a tramp, an idler and the last ass, and she is no lady at all, but simply my wife.
In the winter, I felt quite uneasy, and Lily suggested that I go somewhere warm, like the coast of the Gulf of Mexico, where I could enjoy some fishing, among other things. One of my friends gave my boys a slingshot. Unpacking my things on the coast, I found a slingshot in my suitcase. Instead of catching fish, I spent whole days shooting stones at empty bottles with a slingshot. The locals might gossip about me like this: “See this big guy with a huge head, a nose like a woodpecker’s beak and a drooping mustache? His great-great-grandfather was a secretary of state, his great-uncle was in the diplomatic service, was an ambassador to England and France, and his father Will-Crue Henderson is a famous scientist. It was he who wrote that book about the Albigensian heretics. By the way, he was friends with William James and Henry Adams. nine0003
So I lived in a resort town on the coast of the Gulf of Mexico, lived with my second wife, who was a good-looking, six foot tall and nervous character, with her and with twin sons. At breakfast he poured a hefty portion of bourbon from a flask into his coffee, and in the afternoon he shot at bottles with a slingshot on the shore. The inhabitants of the boarding house complained to the manager: there was broken glass on the beach. He conveyed the complaint to his wife, as he did not dare to contact me.
The boarding house was expensive and fashionable. No Jews. And suddenly – here you go! Eugene G. Henderson falls on their heads…
The children stopped playing with my twins and the ladies avoided Lily.
My wife tried to reason with me. We were in our room. I’m in my swimming trunks. And then she starts talking about broken glass and my disrespect for the guests of the boarding house.
Lily is a smart woman. She never raises her voice, you will not hear a swear word from her. But she really likes to read notations. A born moralist, at the same time she turns pale and speaks almost in a whisper – not because she is afraid of me, but because she herself is worried. nine0003
Since her arguments had no effect on me, she began to sob. From her tears, I, losing my head, shouted: “I will shoot myself! I’ll blow my brains out! I didn’t forget to bring my gun! It’s in my pocket!”
– Jesus, Gene! she screamed, and, covering her face with her hands, ran out into the corridor.
Now I’ll tell you why.
II
Because her father committed suicide.
Shot himself with a pistol.
Among other things, Lily and I are connected by the fact that we both have useless teeth. She, like me, wears a bridge, although she is twenty years younger than me. Lily lost four of her upper incisors as a schoolgirl while playing golf with her father. Her father was an inveterate drunkard, he got so drunk that day that he should not have gone out on the field at all. Without looking around, without any warning, he swung his club and hit his daughter in the face. I shudder all over when I think about that ill-fated July day, the bloodied fifteen-year-old girl. Damn you drunkards! Especially those who try to show how they are going through … Lily felt sorry for her father. I never heard a bad word from her about him. She still carries his photo in her purse. nine0003
I didn’t know him personally. Lily’s father died ten years before we met. Shortly after his death, Lily married a man from Baltonmore, a man, she said, of good social standing. Then something went wrong with them, and during the war they divorced (at that time I fought in Italy). Lily returned home to Danbury, the capital of the hat industry, where she lived with her mother.
It so happened that one winter evening Francis and I went to visit Danbury. Frances went reluctantly. At that time she was in correspondence with some European intellectual. Frances is a great lover of books, letters and an incorrigible smoker. Whenever she had another bout of philosophy or something like that, we saw little of her. She locked herself in her room, smoked one cigarette after another, coughed hysterically, and wrote and wrote. So, we went to visit, and intellectual fever again attacked her. In the middle of a noisy feast, my wife suddenly remembered some urgent matter, took our car and, forgetting about me, drove home. nine0003
Among the men present, I was the only one in evening dress: a dark blue tuxedo with a bow tie. I felt like I was wearing an acre of dark blue cloth. Lily, whom we had just been introduced to, wore a Christmas green dress with red stripes.
After a short pleasant conversation, she suggested a ride. I said, “OK,” and we walked through the freshly fallen snow to her car. The night was clear, starry, the snow creaked underfoot. Lily parked her car on the hillock. As we were leaving it, the car skidded, Lily screamed in fright: “Eugene!” – and hugged me. As far as I could tell, not a soul was around. Bare arms under a fur jacket hugged me. The car skidded into a snowdrift. I turned off the ignition. The moon was full of light. nine0003
– How do you know my name? I asked.
– Who doesn’t know Eugene Henderson? she said.
We chatted a little more, and suddenly she said:
– You need to divorce your wife.
– Do you understand what you are saying? I look like your father…
Lily and I never saw each other again. Until the summer. I came to Danbury to buy planks for a new barn, and I met Lily at a shop, she was also shopping. She was wearing a white pique dress, white shoes and a hat. It was raining and she asked me to take her home. She showed me the way, but she got nervous and became confused. She is very good when she is nervous. In the meantime, it became stuffy, a thunderstorm was approaching. We’ve reached a kind of dead end. The sky quickly darkened, and it began to rain. “Where did you go? I need to go home!” Lily almost cried. nine0003
Finally we got to the place. A small house, stuffy inside, like in the heat. A thunderstorm rumbled outside the window.
– Mom is with a friend, plays bridge. I need to call her, tell her to stay there for the night. Don’t drive around in this weather. The phone is in my bedroom.
Lily is by no means a promiscuous woman, I assure you, not a supporter of free love.
Taking off her dress, she said in a trembling voice:
– I love you, do you hear, I love you!
We hugged, and I said to myself: “They love me, they love me!” There was another rumble in the street, rain flooded the roofs, trees, sidewalks. Lightning flashed blindingly. Lily’s body wafted with warmth and the smell of freshly baked bread. She kept repeating: “I love you! I love!” It was getting dark. The sky was still cloudy. nine0003
Her mother was sitting in the living room. Lily called and told her not to come home. She, of course, immediately looked up from the gambling table and hurried to her native penates. Despite the worst storm in years.
I did not like the appearance of the old lady, not that I was afraid – I just saw this as an unkind sign. After all, Lily assured that no one would know about our relationship.
I was the first to come down from above and I was the first to see a floor lamp turned on by a large antique sofa. Went down and said, “Let me introduce myself, my name is Henderson.” nine0003
In front of me was a stout woman of mediocre appearance. Going to visit, the lady put on makeup like a porcelain doll. She was wearing a hat, a leather purse and a notebook lay on her full knees. It was clear that the mother mentally listed the sins of her daughter: “In my house … with a married man …” and so on and so forth. And Lily was all glowing, as if proud of what she managed to achieve.
I sat as if nothing had happened, in a casual pose, with my feet wide apart in my shoes, plucking my mustache and thinking that my wagon with boards was standing outside the house. The room was filled with the invisible presence of Mr. Simmons, Lily’s father, the plumbing salesman. He shot himself in a room adjacent to his daughter’s bedroom. Lily blamed her mother for her father’s death, and I was like a tool, a means to express her displeasure. “No, mate,” I said to myself. “Things like that are not for me.” nine0003
At first it seemed that the mistress of the house decided to remain within the bounds of decency. But then she could not restrain herself and said:
– And I know your son.
– Really? Slim young man? Edward comes to Danbury on business. He drives a red small car.
In parting, I said to Lily:
– You are a pretty and grown-up woman, but you shouldn’t act like this towards your mother.
The old lady was sitting with her eyes fixed on us.
“Goodbye, Eugene,” Lily said. nine0003
– Cheers, Ms. Simmons.
The farewell was cool. Nevertheless, we soon met again, already in New York. Lily left Danbury, leaving her mother alone, and rented an apartment on Hudson Street in a house without hot water, where, among other things, homeless people and drunkards lived. I walked up the dirty stairs in kid gloves, my face dark from rustic tan and booze. The inner voice kept repeating: “ I want, I want, I want, let’s move, move, move! “And I climbed the stairs in a fur-lined overcoat, in pigskin boots and with a leather wallet in my pocket, climbed, languishing with lust and discontent, fixing my inflamed gaze on the upper platform where Lily was waiting. The plump face was pale, the clear eyes looked with a squint. nine0003
– Damn it! How can you live in this stinking hole?! I greeted my beloved.
Everything in the house was old and beggarly. Dark purple glass in the doors, a shared toilet in the corridor for several apartments, the water supply chain rusted and turned green with time.
Lily made friends with the inhabitants of the slums, helping the elderly and especially single mothers. She let them keep their milk and butter in her fridge, filled out their Social Security paperwork. By doing good to restless immigrants, she probably wanted to show how good Americans can be. nine0003
The smell in the house seemed to stick to my face. When I got to the top platform, I complained:
– Fu! Nothing to breathe at all!
We entered her apartment, also dirty, but at least well lit.
We sat down to talk. Lily said:
– Are you going to waste your life?
It was all over with Francis. After my return from the army, we had almost nothing in common. One morning, a conversation took place in the kitchen, as a result of which we finally parted. The conversation was short, just a few words. Like this:
– What are you going to do now?
(By that time I had begun to lose interest in my pig farm.)
– I’m thinking about getting into medical school. Isn’t it too old?
Frances, usually so serious, not to say gloomy, burst out laughing. I saw only a wide open dark mouth, I didn’t even see teeth.
– Okay, okay, what’s so funny?
Lily was right. Frances is not a suitable wife for me.
“I have to have a baby,” Lily said, “otherwise it will be too late. I’m already under thirty. nine0003
– What’s wrong with you? Am I guilty?
“We should be together,” was the answer.
Who said?
– Otherwise we will die!
About a year has passed. She couldn’t convince me. Marrying a second time is not easy. Then she herself married a broker from New Jersey named Hazard. I decided that she was simply blackmailing me with this marriage. She’s a master of threats. In retaliation, he took Francis and his two daughters and went to France, where he stayed for a whole year.
I spent several years in the south of France as a child. They lived near the city of Albi. The father was engaged in research concerning the Albigensians. Fifty years ago. I used to tease the neighbor boy: “Francois, ta soeur est constipie!” nine0205 [1]
My father was a strong, thick man, an unusually clean person. He wore Irish linen. His hatbox was trimmed inside with red velvet, he ordered shoes from England, and gloves from the Roman firm of Vitale Milano. He played the violin well, and my mother wrote poetry in Albi Cathedral.
Those times have sunk into the past.
Francis did not go with me and my daughters to Albi. She stayed in Paris to attend the Collège de France, where famous philosophers lectured. nine0003
It’s not easy to rent a good apartment in Albi, but I managed to do it. I was rented decent rooms by the impoverished Russian prince de Vogüé, who told me about his great-grandfather: he was a minister during the reign of Nicholas I. A tall, courteous gentleman, de Vogüé was married to a Spaniard, and his mother-in-law, Señora Guirlandes, who lived with them, pestered him so that the poor man had moved into a closet in the attic.
I have already mentioned that my bank account is three million dollars, and I could probably help the Russian, but at that time my soul and body were languishing with desires – “ I want, I want! » So the prince, nestled in the top, treated his sick children and struggled with poverty without my help. If the financial situation does not improve, the poor fellow said, he will throw himself out of the window.
“Don’t be foolish, prince,” I advised.
So I lived, tormented by my conscience, in his house, slept in his bed and took a bath twice a day in his toilet room. Water procedures did not improve mood. After Frances laughed at my craving for medicine, I did not discuss any business with her. nine0003
Every day I walked around Paris. On foot he reached the Gobelin manufactories, and more than once visited the Pere Lachaise cemetery and Saint-Cloud. The only person who cared about my life was Lily, who became Mrs. Hazard. At the Paris branch of American Express, they gave me a note from her, written on the back of an invitation card to a long-standing wedding celebration. I got excited, began to look closely at the prostitutes, of which there are a great many in the Madeleine quarters, but not one of them would drown out the inner voice.0159 I want! Want! “, although there were pretty faces.
“She will come,” I said to myself. And Lily really came. Having learned from the prince that I was on a walk, she began circling around the city in an old taxi and stumbled upon me near the Vaven metro station. She called out to me from the cab, then opened the door. Yes, she was beautiful: a charming, kind, pure face, a swan neck, an upturned upper lip. No matter how worried Lily was, she did not forget about her false teeth and usually did not open her mouth wide. But what did I care about her porcelain bridge? I thank you, Lord, for the favors that you bestow on me. nine0003
– How are you, baby?
Lily considered me a sloven and a fool, but, like any other person, in her eyes I represented a certain value, and therefore I had to live (one more such year in Paris, and my insides would have completely rusted). Live with the hope that something worthwhile can come out of me.
– Where is your hubby?
On the way to her hotel, Lily said:
– Then I decided that it was time for me to have children. Women age quickly. (She was then twenty-seven.) But on the way to the marriage ceremony, I realized that I had made a mistake. We stopped at a traffic light, I tried to jump out, but the wedding dress caught on the door, he dragged me back and hit me. It’s good that there was a veil with a veil on his head, because a bruise immediately jumped up under his eye. I cried even at the ceremony. And one more thing: my mother died. nine0003
– bruise? How dare he?! – I was furious. “If he gets me, I’ll break all the bones!” And please accept my condolences. I kissed her on the eyes.
We arrived at her hotel on the Quai Voltaire and, embracing each other, went up – not to her room, no – but to paradise … A week flew by. Wherever we only wandered together, and everywhere we were trailed by a “tail” – a detective hired by Hazard. I rented a car and we drove around the suburbs, seeing the cathedrals. Lily was wonderful and just as wonderful began to bake me again:
– Do you think you can live without me? Will not work! And I can’t live without you. I feel sad. Do you know why I left Hazard? I got bored. And the saddest thing was when he climbed to kiss. I felt so alone. And when he…
“Spare me the details,” I interrupted her.
– When he hit me, it was from the heart. No pretense.
And then I started drinking, drinking like never before. I was drunk in Chartres, Amiens, Vesoul. Lily had to drive. The car was a subcompact (model 272, convertible), and we were both tall, towering in the seats, blonde and brunette, handsome and drunk. Lily dragged herself from America for me, but I haven’t given in yet. nine0003
We got all the way to Belgium and turned back. Great trip if you love France. But I don’t love her, this country.
From the beginning to the end, Lily had only one topic of conversation. She taught me: one must live for this, do good, not evil, not indulge in illusions, but face reality, live for the sake of life itself, and not wait humbly for death. Apparently, at the boarding house she was taught that a well-mannered woman, a lady, should speak quietly, so I could not hear her well with my deaf ear due to the whistling of the wind, the creaking of tires on concrete and the hysterical tapping of a low-power motor. nine0003
I knew that her radiant smile and shining eyes would not let me rest.
With all this, she had many bad habits. Lily forgot to wash her underwear and I had to remind her when I was drunk. I had to, because she was a philosopher and an incorrigible moralist, when I said: “Wash your laundry,” she began to argue. “Dirty,” I remarked, “the pigs on my farm are cleaner,” and off we go. She: “The earth is also dirty.” Me: “Yeah, but it cleans up periodically.” Her: “Do you know what love can do?” “You go again? Shut up!” I growled. She didn’t get angry. She took pity on me. nine0003
Travel continued. I was fascinated by old churches, admired them when I was not drunk to death, enjoyed Lily’s charms, her mutterings and passionate embraces. And hundreds of times I heard from her: “Let’s go to the States. I came for you.”
“No,” I said. “Don’t you have any pity left?” Don’t torture me. I have a Purple Heart medal. I shed blood for my country. But now that’s enough! I’m in my fifties and I have a lot of problems.
– Moreover, you should decide on something. nine0003
Finally I lost my temper:
– If you don’t stop, I’ll put a bullet in my head!
It was cruel of me to remind Lily of her father. I do not tolerate cruelty. Her father was a pleasant man, but weak-willed, broken and sentimental. He shot himself in the middle of a family quarrel. One day he came home tipsy and began to get off in the kitchen in front of his daughter and the cook: he sang old songs, tap danced, poured obscenities. It’s a foul thing to swear in front of your daughter. Lily talked a lot about her father, he stood up in front of me as if alive. I loved and despised him at the same time. “Oh, you miserable jester, old vulgar. What did you do with your daughter? He threw her, poor thing, on me. nine0003
I threatened Lily again to shoot herself. It was in Chartres. I stood before the pure face of the Mother of God. Lily turned pale as wax, covered her face with her hands and silently looked at me.
“I don’t care if you forgive me or not,” I said.
We parted in Vesoul. From the very beginning, everything said that the trip here would end badly. In the morning I go down from my room and see: the small car has a flat tire (the weather was good, and the day before I refused to put it in the garage). Suspecting that the hotel manager had played a cruel joke on me, I demanded that he come to me and explain himself, but the desk window slammed shut. I had to act myself. Since I didn’t have a jack, I pulled myself up, slipped a stone under the model 272 axle and changed the camera. nine0003
After a run-in with the manager, the mood improved. Lily and I went to the cathedral, bought a kilo of strawberries in a paper bag and went to the courtyard behind the church to lie in the sun. Golden pollen fell from the lindens, and wild roses twined around the trunks of apple trees – pale red, bright red, fiery, tart like wine. Lily took off her blouse, and in the end it was the turn of the bra. So, half-dressed, she lay on my lap. Excited, I asked:
– How did you know what I wanted?
The wild rose on the apple trees burned with a bright flame, the thorns hurt even from a distance.
– Can you lie still? Look what a beautiful courtyard behind this church.
“It’s not a churchyard, it’s a garden,” Lily corrected.
– Your period started yesterday. So don’t freak out.
– Before, you didn’t mind even on days like this.
– And now against …
The quarrel ended with my saying that today she is on the next train to Paris alone.
Lily was silent. Got it, I thought. It wasn’t there. Her face shone with joy and love.
– You will not be able to destroy me, I am tenacious! I announced and wept. Suffering filled my heart. “Get in here, bitch!” I shouted and threw back the top of the car.
Pale Lily, not giving up, muttered something of her own, and I buried my tear-stained face in the steering wheel, talking about pride, honor, soul, love and all that.
– Damn you crazy fool! nine0003
– Maybe I really don’t have everything at home, but when we are together, I see and understand everything.
– Damn you understand! I don’t understand anything myself. Get off me, otherwise I’ll crumble to pieces!
I unloaded her stupid suitcase with unwashed linen on the station platform twenty kilometers from Vesoul and, sobbing, rushed to the south of France.

Active Childcare is a full-service Daycare Center and Preschool located inside Milwaukee Yard, where parents can leave their children in our care for either the whole day or just half a day.
ACTIVE CHILDCARE
We founded Active Childcare on the principle that physical activity and free-play are critical processes through which children learn valuable skills. These processes, in conjunction with traditional classroom teaching, are the most
effective way to develop the long-term critical thinking and social skills necessary for school and life beyond.
Our classrooms are at the heart of our learning environment.
Each classroom has nine areas where children have opportunities to explore. Children can learn on their own or ask guidance from our teaching staff. Our curriculum includes science and sensory play, art, literacy, music, computer,
dramatic play, manipulatives, and blocks. Free-play in these areas is interspersed with traditional learning techniques to optimize the cognitive learning environment for your child.
The environment at Active Childcare is a child’s dream. We have a five-level climbing structure, a large inflatables area, huge open indoor fields, as well as our traditional outdoor playgrounds.
These areas afford the children year-round opportunities to run, play, compete, cooperate, and develop the foundation for the social and emotional skills needed in life. Given the wealth of research conducted on the positive educational
benefits of physical activity, we are excited to be at the forefront of implementing these strategies in an educational environment.
We invite you to let your child run, play, learn, and develop all year long!
Infant Care (6 weeks – 15 months)
We are committed to providing your child with a safe and nurturing environment where they can learn and play. We offer a bright and cheerful infant room where infants follow individualized meal and rest schedules. During the

Toddler Care (15 months – 2 years)

We offer a planned schedule that remains flexible to the changing needs of a young toddler who is starting to explore the world. Our teachers encourage growth both intellectually and emotionally through language, music, sensory exploration, arts and crafts, and dramatic play.
Two-year-old Care (2 – 3 years)
Our two-year-old program is based on a weekly thematic unit that allows your child to develop socially, emotionally, and physically. We offer a schedule that allows for small and large group time while also providing individual time for your adventurous two-year-old. Our teachers fill the day with activities in language, music, arts and crafts, sensory exploration, and dramatic play.
Pre-school (3 – 4 years)
Our preschool program incorporates language and literacy, math, science, music, arts and crafts, large motor, and social development into weekly thematic units. We cover a variety of large and small group activities, providing children with many choices throughout their day. Our classroom is also equipped with a computer that hosts a variety of educational materials available for your child.
Pre-kindergarten (4 – 6 years)

They will learn new math concepts, begin journaling, feel excitement over new science discoveries, create new arts and crafts, or begin reading new books. Your child will also have access to the computer, build with blocks, and participate in play on the indoor soccer field or our 5-level play structure.
PLAY STRUCTURE
During the day, your child’s teacher will bring their class down for large motor time on our play structure.
LARGE MOTOR PLAY
Your child will have access to Milwaukee Yard, an indoor sports facility which features a huge state-of-the-art athletic field. By enrolling in Active Childcare, you are entitled to a discounted rate for weekday classes with Mighty Tykes Soccer, a unique child-focused development program focused on fun.
It is the pivotal moment when a baby transitions from relying on the natural support in the mother’s womb into breathing and living on its own strength. These first minutes have a crucial impact on the rest of life. This is when a new human being can win or lose.
1 in 10 babies has problems at birth. Around the world, this affects over 35.000 newborns every day. Most of these babies are born
premature, some experience asphyxia or other problems. These babies
need all the strength and support they can get.
Still, medical convention prescribes to clamp the cord soon after birth. Babies are taken away from their mothers in order to receive urgent care. We have the opportunity to improve.
Quick facts:
Every year, an estimated 10 million babies do not breathe at birth.
Over 1.5 million children die each year due to birth complications.
Birth complications are the leading cause of death among children under 5 years of age. . We are denying babies the oxygen-rich blood from the placenta that it needs so badly. As a result, we often need to repair, or even live with, the damage.
Scientists Prof. Arjan te Pas and Prof. Stuart Hooper, and a team from Leiden University Medical Center, developed a new way of thinking and working to give babies a “shock free birth”. This new approach, called physiological-based cord clamping, allows neonatal caregivers to provide lifesaving care with the umbilical cord intact for as long as needed. Close to mom, the baby gets maximum benefit from the blood from the placenta, up to the moment it is breathing on its own. The baby decides.
More information
We call this the Concord Birth Flow
Key to the Concord Birth Flow® is the Concord Birth Trolley®, a new treatment platform with a patented slot for the umbilical cord, to keep the baby very close to its mother, even with a very short umbilical cord connected. Mom can see and touch her baby. In the Concord Zone, caregivers collaborate to provide the best care for the baby and its mother.
Solution
The Concord Birth Flow has the potential to:
Reduce complications at birth, like sepsis, intraventricular hemorrhage (IVH) or necrotizing enterocolitis (NEC)
Improve survival

The mother of the child blames the death of the child on doctors : Timur Sharipkulov Tel. This was reported in the press service of the department. According to the mother of the child, Anastasia Koroleva, doctors are to blame for his death – despite three appeals in a row, they did not provide assistance to the child. nine0089
According to the woman, the tragedy occurred on January 4 in Sterlitamak. The day before, the child was crying incessantly for several hours, nothing helped to calm him down. Mom decided to go to the doctors, but, as the woman says, the doctor examined the child in a rude manner and began to kick them out of the hospital.
According to the woman, an hour later the four-month-old baby began to vomit, but the paramedic diagnosed teething, the condition did not improve. The next morning, the parents called an ambulance for the second time, the doctors urgently took the child to surgery. According to the mother, the doctors were slow to help and sent the baby to intensive care only after he stopped breathing. nine0003
— At the same time, the child was already covered with blue spots, moaning, and had no strength. Only after we shouted that the child was no longer breathing, a doctor ran out of the next room and said: “Urgently to the intensive care unit.” I ran in my arms with a non-breathing child to the intensive care unit and put him on the table. After 40 minutes I was told that he had not been rescued. To hide their unprofessionalism, they wrote in the death certificate what the child did not have. How can I continue to live in this city, where there are no professional doctors and qualified assistance? Anastasia writes. nine0089
The Ministry of Health is already examining a clinical case under the supervision of the Deputy Minister of Health of the Republic of Belarus Tatyana Saubanova.
Alexander Bastrykin instructed and. about. Ilyas Masallimov, head of the investigative committee of Bashkiria, to initiate a criminal case.
– The head of the department instructed to comprehensively study the arguments of the injured party, conduct the necessary examinations, the progress and results of the investigation were put under control in the central office of the department, – the department commented.
Earlier, in one of the hospitals in Ufa, a patient contracted a coronavirus and ended up with a pierced lung. The Ministry of Health claimed that there were no deviations in the medical institution, but the audit revealed gross violations.

When a baby starts to smile: a baby’s first smile
A baby starts communicating with parents from the first days of life. Since newborns do not know how to speak and express their needs, desires and emotions in words, crying comes to their aid – a universal means of communication. As a child grows, he learns new things: one of the first ways to express positive emotions is to smile. When can parents first see their baby smile? What are the deadlines for this skill and what to do if the baby has not yet smiled? nine0003
The first smile of a newborn
After birth, during the first weeks of life, the baby spends most of its time sleeping. As he gradually adapts to new conditions, gradually becomes interested in the world around him and people, he shows his first emotions – he frowns, fixes his gaze, concentrates and smiles.
The first timid smiles will be unconscious – these are reflex reactions of the child, especially if you pass your finger along the cheek or gently stroke the baby on the head. As the child’s nervous system develops and the brain begins to analyze the environment, smiles will appear more consciously – in response to addressed speech, pleasant sounds, your smiles or funny faces that you make. nine0003
The moment when your son or daughter looks at you for the first time and smiles back will remain in the parent’s heart for life. It’s so sweet and touching that it can bring tears to your eyes. But it is important to know the approximate dates when to expect these first smiles of the child, so that mom or dad does not worry if everything is in order with the development of the crumbs. After all, the appearance of emotional reactions is a certain stage of development, indicating that the nervous system is formed correctly.
From the first month
Already in the first month of life, parents notice how the lips of a newborn stretch into a blissful smile when he sleeps. This is a reflex reaction that is caused by the response of the nervous system to positive stimuli. For example, if a child feels well, ate tightly and sleeps on the arms of his beloved mother, he will smile. He is warm, comfortable and safe. On the contrary, if the baby is uncomfortable, he wet the diaper, wanted to eat or froze, he was frightened by sharp sounds – he would frown or even cry. nine0003
The first smiles are very pleasant, but unconscious. They are not associated with certain actions or emotions – speech addressed to the child, bright toys, music, actions of mom or dad. This is a reflex relaxation or muscle tension associated with external stimuli (light, sound, tactile impact, temperature).
When does a child begin to smile consciously?
A child in the second month of life conducts experiments, mastering new emotions and facial expressions – grins, funny facial expressions are possible. Gradually, reflex smiles that occur in a dream or during a period when stimuli are influenced are replaced by already conscious actions. It is a smile as a reaction to the treatment or smiles of loved ones that appears by two months. nine0003
In response to the smile of mom or dad, their affectionate words or their own name, the lips of the baby will deliberately spread into a smile. With the help of it, the child expresses joy, pleasure, communicates. This is a reward for parents for their care and love.
Development of communication skills
At about 3-4 months, the child is already actively interacting with the people around him, whom he sees. He perceives, “reads” and tries to repeat the facial expressions of adults, their facial expressions. Naturally, in his favorites he will have relatives whom he sees daily. Your baby quickly learns that when he moves his lips or smiles in response to a speech addressed to him, this stimulates your attention. In the course of communication with parents or other adults, with children, the development of the child’s brain occurs. Funny actions, attempts to communicate distract from the seething in the tummy, hunger, fatigue, boredom. nine0003
The more a child communicates with the help of facial expressions, the more actively his socialization and mental development takes place. This is an important stage, but the development of each child occurs according to its own scenario in accordance with temperament and physiology.
What if the child does not smile?
Along with the ability to smile, the child develops other skills. If he is not yet three months old, but the baby holds his head, can focus on objects and focus on a certain task, such as playing with a rattle, just wait. But if the baby is not smiling by the age of three months, it is worth discussing this with the doctor. If there are no health problems, we offer a number of useful tips that can be used to stimulate the development of the skill. nine0003
Smile at your child as often as possible to stimulate responses. Talk to him, tell stories, sing songs with a smile. This is very beneficial for development: when you react to his smiles and respond, new connections are formed in the child’s brain. Plus, the child understands that his emotions are important and he can trust you.
Play along with the child – if he starts a “conversation” by smiling at you, be sure to answer. If he is waiting for your reaction and smile, start a conversation yourself – he will imitate you.

When is a guardian angel given to a person? archim. Cleopa (Ilie)
About Guardian Angels archbishop. Alexy (Rzhanitsyn)
Canon to the Guardian Angel
Akathist to the Guardian Angel
About guardian angels (sermon) Fr. Georgy Maksimov
Guardian Angel – An angel assigned by God to a person at baptism to protect from evil and help in good deeds.
To whom and when does God give a Guardian Angel?
A Guardian Angel is given by God to a person in the Sacrament of Baptism: “ To those who have been vouchsafed baptism and ascend to the height of virtues, angels are given from God, caring for them and assisting them. The Lord assures us of this when He says that there are Guardian Angels for everyone who believes in Him ” (teacher Anastasy Sinait).
An unbaptized person is under the control of fallen spirits – demons. The Guardian Angel stays next to the believing Christian, unless we drive him away with sinful deeds, since “ as smoke drives away the bees, so sin drives away the Guardian Angel from us ” (St. Basil the Great).
“Since everything, except God, has its beginning, it is required to find out: when, according to the teachings of the Church, is a Guardian Angel assigned to a person? The final prayer of the canon to the Guardian Angel says quite unequivocally: “from holy baptism” – a new birth with water and the Spirit . .. Moreover, song 7 of this canon indicates for how long: “from God given to us forever” , that is, the Guardian Angel accompanies every Christian from St. baptism and before the end of the earthly journey, but also after, “in the terrible hour of death, be relentless, my good guardian, ‹ …> when the imam passes the air ordeal” (prayer of the akathist to the Guardian Angel), since the deceased “is usually accompanied two angels ‹…›. The duty of these angels (the Guardian Angel and the counter angel) is to accompany the soul of the deceased on his way to the afterlife. And at the Last Judgment, the Guardian Angel will intercede before Christ, praying for the forgiveness of the person he keeps, and in case of forgiveness, he becomes the last inseparable friend in eternity.
What does Angel Day mean?
There is an opinion that the Guardian Angel is a saint whose name we bear. From here, they say, the name day is called the day of the Angel. This is a clear misconception. It is easily refuted by the morning rule: one prayer is addressed to the Guardian Angel – a completely different one – to the saint in whose name the Christian was baptized.
The participation of the Guardian Angel in the life of a Christian
If there were no Guardian Angels and mentors for good, pious people, then the demons would have exterminated the entire human race – if, that is, the Lord had allowed them to do what they please with people: for the malice of demons towards people is immeasurable and their envy towards man has no limits, for man is created in the image of God and is destined for the inheritance of eternal life in the place of the fallen angels.0033 (Holy Righteous John of Kronstadt) .
Close and kindred to people by their spiritual nature and by the graciously wise purpose of God, Angels in general and Guardian Angels in particular take a lively and active part in our destiny. Guardian Angels do for us everything that serves our true good and salvation. Invisibly staying with us constantly, they, guiding us to salvation, not only according to our desire mysteriously instruct us in everything good and useful, not only raise our prayers to God, but also protect us from ourselves and protect us from enemies visible and invisible. and intercede for us before God. That is why the Orthodox Church teaches us to honor and call upon our Guardian Angels in prayer as our closest spiritual guides and patrons. But, as appointed to a person as invisible mentors, guardians and defenders by God Himself, we do not know the private name of each Guardian Angel individually, and since the Guardian Angel is a good spirit who did not live a human earthly life, the Orthodox Church cannot appoint to each Guardian Angel of a separate day of public remembrance of his holy charitable, spiritual life, but obliges us to turn to his patronage and protection privately, in our daily prayers at home.
Prayers to the Guardian Angel
Troparion, tone 6: Angel of God, / my holy guardian, / guard my belly in the fear of Christ God, / strengthen my mind in the true path, / and hurt my soul to the love of heaven mine / yes guided by you / I will receive great mercy from Christ God.
Kontakion, tone 4: Appear mercifully to me, / holy Angel of the Lord, my guardian, / and do not leave me filthy, / but enlighten me with untouchable light / and make me worthy of the Kingdom of Heaven.
From the morning prayer rule: “Holy Angel, stand before my accursed soul and my passionate life, do not leave me, a sinner, depart from me below for my intemperance. Give no place to the crafty demon to possess me with the violence of this mortal body; strengthen my poor and thin hand and guide me on the path of salvation. To her, the holy Angel of God, the guardian and patron of my damned soul and body, forgive me all, insult you with great insults all the days of my stomach, and if I have sinned this past night, cover me on this present day, and save me from every temptation of the opposite Yes, in no sin will I anger God, and pray for me to the Lord, may he confirm me in His fear, and show me worthy of His servant of goodness. Amen”.
From the evening prayer rule: “To the angel of Christ, my holy guardian and protector of my soul and body, forgive me all, fir-tree of sin this day: and deliver me from every wickedness of the enemy that is against me. yes, I will not anger my God in any sin: but pray for me a sinful and unworthy servant, as if you are worthy of me, show the goodness and mercy of the All-Holy Trinity and the Mother of my Lord Jesus Christ, and all the saints, amen.
Canon to Guardian Angel The Canon to the Guardian Angel is usually read on the eve of Communion.
Guardian Angel
Archimandrite John (Krestyankin)
Guardian Angels are servants of our salvation, so we are not alone in our earthly life, in our labors for the salvation of our immortal soul. We firmly know that our helpers are with us, protecting us from all sorts of troubles encountered on the path of life, and from the wrath of God deserved by each of us. Our Guardian Angel is an infinitely loving being. He loves us with all the fullness of his love. And his love is great, and its effect is strong, because, contemplating God, he sees eternal Love, which desires our salvation.
Our Guardian Angel is like our second mother. He has the same concern for us, and even more. Mother takes special care of us while we are in infancy and childhood. Our Guardian Angel, from the moment of our baptism until the last days of our life, is our caring tutor. And, if we ourselves do not push him away from us during our earthly life, he will lead our soul to worship God when the time comes for the soul to part from the body.
Our Guardian Angels are powerful in their personal virtues, powerful in the strength they receive from God, powerful in the prayers that they send for us to the Most High God.
Everything that is good, pure, bright in us: every good thought, every good movement of the heart, our prayer, repentance, good deeds – all this is born in us and is done at the suggestion of our invisible Guardian Angel. Acting through our conscience and our heart, it is he, our Angel, who keeps us from sin and temptation, it is he who helps us fight temptations, it is he who inspires us with fear of a serious fall into sin.
The Guardian Angel given to us is, as it were, our conscience expanded and revealed. He strives with all his might to save us, and we have no right to interfere with him in this. We must help him in his efforts to save us. We must ask him to enrich our minds with an abundance of holy thoughts, to strengthen in us the habit of pious reflections. We are obliged to love him as our elder and strong brother. But in fact, we so often forget about him, do not pray to him, offend his shrine with our sins, and he again and again shows his concern for us. He intercedes for us before the mercy of God, he pleads with God for our needs, and the Heavenly Father will never refuse him his requests.
But why do the Angels of God show such concern for people?
First, because they are God’s servants and have been commanded by God to protect and save people. Secondly, they themselves are the creations of God, and the words apply to them, as well as to people: Be merciful, just as your Father is merciful (Luke 6:36). They understand this and try, imitating their Creator and God, to show both their mercy and their long-suffering towards people..
What joy it gives them to save the souls that Christ has redeemed with His own blood, and who (with their help) will share with them their glory and their blessedness!
If we were a little more sensitive, we would notice how carefully our Guardian Angel helps us return through repentance to the path of salvation. He not only encourages us to repent, but he also promises to remind us of all our sins, all life’s mistakes and oversights.
Our Guardian Angels, messengers to us from God, make their way from God to us and from us to God without hindrance and quickly (if only our deeds do not interfere with this). They come from God to us to bring us His grace; they also ascend from us to God in order to convey to Him our prayers and thanksgiving.
How close our Guardian Angel should be to each of us! What confidence we must have in him! During our lifetime, we can tell him the most intimate secrets of our souls. Those secrets that we would not entrust to the closest people. And this is because in the Guardian Angel we see the most wise in advice, the most disinterested in love and help, tender in affection for us, caring in our needs.
Book “Angel of Prayer”
Guardian Angel of the Lord we ask
Archbishop Pitirim of Volokolamsk
In the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit!
Today, brothers and sisters, we are celebrating in honor of the Archangel Michael of God and other incorporeal Heavenly Powers. In the magnificence of the holiday, naming the Archangels and Angels, Cherubim and Seraphim, praising the Lord, we remember, among other Heavenly Forces, the incorporeal and our Guardian Angel. Let us think about how easy it is for us to meditate on the examples of the saints, examples from the Holy Gospel and receive edification, and how difficult it is to constantly turn with prayer to the one who is closest to us, who constantly watches over our salvation, to meditate and talk about the holy angels.
For many years I have been serving God in the church. How many prayers have been performed over the years to the saints of God, to whom our parishioners turn both with prayerful gratitude and with a request for grace-filled help, how many notes about health, salvation, and the sick have been read … And literally single requests to pray to the Guardian Angel. But the holy Guardian Angel relentlessly abides with us. Like all Angels, God’s servants, he was made a servant of our salvation. Let’s think about it, brothers and sisters, let’s remember an example from the Holy Gospel.
Once the disciples asked the Lord: Teach us to pray (Luke 11:1), and the Lord in His sermon left us all a sacred prayer, which each of us knows by heart. It contains the words: Our Father Who art in Heaven… Thy will be done on earth as it is in Heaven (Luke 11:2). We ask God that His holy will, carried out unquestioningly and in fullness by the holy Angels in Heaven, be also fulfilled by us here on earth.
The Lord also said to the people around Him: Look, do not despise any of these little ones, for I tell you that their angels in heaven always see the Face of My Heavenly Father (Mt.18:10). This means that the lesser, humble ones have the greatest boldness before God, because their Guardian Angels constantly intercede before the Face of God for them. If you are not like children, that is, if you are not “lesser”, you will not enter the Kingdom of Heaven. Even Nicodemus, a wise old man, a teacher of the Jewish people, asked the Lord Jesus Christ: is it really necessary to be born a second time in order to enter the Kingdom of Heaven? Christ answered him reproachfully: you are the teacher of Israel and you cannot understand that it is necessary to be reborn in spirit in order to enter the Kingdom of Heaven (John 3:3-11). And now, brethren and sisters, let us combine these three examples into one. So, we pray, we want that here, on earth, it would be like in the Kingdom of Heaven. But the Lord says that only those who become like the “lesser ones” will enter the Kingdom of Heaven, which means that you need to be reborn, as if born again, to become as pure, as sincere as children. The one who comes to this state will receive great boldness before God through the intercessions of his Guardian Angel.
Our church practices provide one very instructive testimony. In ancient times, when they were tonsured monks, they gave a monk a rounded, tight-fitting cap, similar to the one worn by children. Now only in the attire of the Patriarch of Moscow, the so-called puppet, this ancient tradition has been preserved. It is precisely monastic repentance that becomes evidence of a second birth, it is precisely such attire that is more customary to see on children, which is an outward expression of the fact that, first of all, it is necessary to acquire a pure and peaceful spirit. And although none of us can say that we have reached such a state, everyone should remember that we are called to attain it. And so we pray: An angel is peaceful, faithful, mentor, guardian of our souls and bodies, we ask the Lord.
Twice during the Liturgy, when the great sacred Sacrament of the Eucharist is celebrated, we ask for it. During Vespers and Matins, during home morning and evening prayers, we ask the Lord to give us a Guardian Angel. For what? In order for us to be reborn, for there to be peace and gentleness, purity and joy in our soul, and for these feelings to be manifested sincerely, directly from the heart. And then, brothers and sisters, our prayer: Thy will be done, like in Heaven and on earth – it will be strong, the Lord will hear it. Let us now pray to the zealous and formidable guardian of the Throne of God, Archangel Michael, to all the invisible incorporeal Forces, and above all to our Guardian Angel, that a pure heart, a peaceful spirit, and fiery strong faith be given to us. Amen.
Journal of the Moscow Patriarchy. 1986. No. 1. S. 41–42.
Quotes about the Guardian Angel
If you wake up earlier than the appointed hour, then, without getting lazy, get up and pray a little to your God and to the Holy Guardian who awakened you. Believe for sure that your Guardian excites you to this, therefore you should not be lazy. Pray that you do not drive him away from you, but, having prayed, lie down again, praying until the touch of sleep. ex. Barsonofius Optinsky

Guardian Angel
Many Orthodox Christians will confirm that with faith in God, a person never feels alone. Of course, difficult moments and days of doubt happen in the life of every person, but the invisible presence of an angel nearby gives people the strength to go through life’s trials. In popular culture, angels are sometimes assigned uncharacteristic roles. We will try to figure out who the guardian angel is in Christianity.
When God gives a person a guardian angel
A guardian angel appears to a person at Baptism. At least that’s how we can judge from quotations from the New Testament. Jesus Christ says: Be careful not to despise any of these little ones, for I tell you that their angels in heaven always see the face of my Father in heaven” (Mt. 18:10).
This means that in Heaven every person who has received Baptism has a guardian angel who looks after him, helps him cope with the power of sin and protects him.
« To those who have been vouchsafed baptism and ascend to the height of virtues, angels have been given from God to care for them and assist them. The Lord assures us of this when He says that everyone who believes in Him has Guardian Angels ”(St. Anastassy Sinai).
It is interesting that in the icon painting the Guardian Angel does not always appear in the image we are used to. For example, in the Roman catacombs you can meet a Guardian Angel without wings. Although even in the pre-antique era, some winged entities were depicted, it is almost impossible to find images of the Guardian Angel in early Christian painting.
The angel is usually depicted wearing a tunic or a white tunic.
The word guardian angel (precisely “guardian”) is not found in the Bible, but we can conclude that there are angels called specifically to help a person for his salvation.
How a guardian angel participates in the life of an Orthodox Christian
An angel appears next to a person to wrest him from the power of evil spirits and protect him from evil. If a person fails to cope with sinful thoughts and actions, this does not mean that the angel is moving away from him. God never leaves a person, a person himself can alienate himself of his own free will. It would be wrong to attribute a role to an angel:
Bodyguard;
Psychologist;
Doctors.
Do not wait for visible advice and guidance or healing from all diseases. But the angel was indeed given to man so that we could ask for help.
In our soul there is a constant struggle and evil, we ourselves become the battlefield, so the Lord gave us a guardian angel as allies.
If there were no Guardian Angels and mentors for good, pious people, then the demons would have exterminated the entire human race – if, that is, the Lord had allowed them to do what they please with people: for the malice of demons towards people is immeasurable and their envy of man has no limits, for man is created in the image of God and is destined for the inheritance of eternal life in the place of the fallen angels.0034 (Holy Righteous John of Kronstadt) .

Of course, angels do not have the same power and knowledge as the Lord God, but they can definitely be addressed with prayer in difficult moments. They pray to the guardian angel:
For help in any business;
About support in the fight against sinful thoughts and actions;
About protection from temptations;
About guidance on the true path.
As in any prayer, one should not place all hopes on the angel or saint to whom we pray, because without the will of a person to change something in his life, his efforts, nothing can work out, and “faith without deeds is dead.”
It is believed that at the Last Judgment we will meet with the Guardian Angel, who will pray for the forgiveness of the person protected by him and will remain with him in eternal life if the person is forgiven.
Many mistakenly think that the Guardian Angel is a saint whose name is given to a person at Baptism, but this is a delusion. Which confirms the morning prayer rule – there is a separate prayer for the Guardian Angel.
Prayer to the Guardian Angel
From the morning prayer rule
“Holy Angel, stand before my wretched soul and my passionate life, do not leave me, a sinner, depart from me below for my intemperance. Amen”.
The Bible about Guardian Angels
There is a lot of evidence in the Bible that Guardian Angels are called to help people:
they will carry you, lest you strike your foot against a stone; you step on an asp and a basilisk; you will trample on the lion and the dragon” (Ps. 90:11-13)
“Are they not all ministering spirits sent to serve those who are to inherit salvation?” (Heb. 1:14)
“Whenever the upper tongues divide, as if scattering the sons of Adam, set the limits of the tongues according to the number of the angels of God” (Deut. 32:8) — The human race was numbered according to the guardian angels whom the Lord sent to protect man.
“When Peter knocked at the gate, a maid named Rod came out to listen, and, recognizing Peter’s voice, she did not open the gate for joy, but, running in, announced that Peter was standing at the gate. And they said to her: Are you out of your mind? But she made her point. They said: this is his angel. Meanwhile, Peter continued to knock. When they opened it, they saw him and were astonished.” (Acts 12:13-16)

An excerpt from the book of Archimandrite John (Krestyankin) “The Angel of Prayer”
Guardian Angels are servants of our salvation, so we are not alone in our earthly life, in our labors to save his immortal soul.

Our mission is to inspire people to become self-motivated learners and active citizens who demonstrate respect, conduct themselves with integrity, and strive for intellectual growth in a culture of high expectations. The American Public School opened its doors in 1955 when Mr. and Mrs. Ben Parker opened their home to American families interested in a school with an American curriculum. In that first year, the school had only 12 students from grades 1 to 8. As the young kingdom grew, so did the demand for an American day school that could provide an education that would enable students to reintegrate into the American system at home. At 19In 65, a small plot of land was purchased outside the city, on which it was planned to build a real campus. The students moved from the Parker house to a school with 5 classrooms, a library and a circular multi-purpose hall. As the city grew, so did the school: that rural piece of land is now in the center of the Amman metropolis. Today, ACS has 60 classrooms, a fully equipped sports complex, a performing arts center and state-of-the-art science and technology laboratories. Our location in the heart of the Middle East allows our students to have an educational experience that is unlikely to be found elsewhere in the world. Jordan is home to Petra, one of the seven wonders of the world, and the Dead Sea, which is located at the lowest point on earth, giving our students a unique opportunity to live and study in a country rich in history and tradition. The adventures of an ACS student are not limited to Jordan; our students often participate in international academic, sports and artistic competitions. What started as a school for American residents in Amman has become a melting pot for international students from over 40 countries. These students bring with them their unique traditions and cultural experiences, giving our students a global perspective on life.

Family Reviews
It is hard to leave an infant in the care of another, but my wife and I both felt very comfortable with Ms. Pam’s leadership and trusted both her and the teachers who would take care of our child.
William Rutledge
Ms. Pam and the wonderful staff at The Sunshine House in Decatur have been taking care of our children for over 10 years! Our three boys each started as infants and moved all the way through the Pre-K program. We couldn’t be happier with the care they have received there and they have graduated more than ready for kindergarten.
