    Training courses

US High School Diploma 14-18 years

The US High School Diploma is an American high school diploma. To receive it, students study for 4 years, from grade 9 to grade 12 (14-18 years old). This qualification opens the doors of universities throughout North America, Canada and is widely recognized by international universities around the world. Students plan their own lesson plan by choosing subjects from a range of compulsory and elective subjects. The available subjects have different levels of difficulty, and the student himself can choose which subjects he will study at the standard level of difficulty, and which – in depth. The choice of subjects and the degree of difficulty must be approved by the student’s curator, taking into account academic performance. At the end of the last year, students take exams in all subjects studied.

The Athenian offers a choice of more than 50 AP (Advanced Placement) and honors courses (Honors) in areas such as mathematics, literature, science, humanities, foreign languages, and art. These courses prepare students for higher education as they are taught at the first-year university level.

Students undergo 4 years of academic preparation, which is adapted to their interests. It is worth noting that the graduation requirements of The Athenian School exceed the entrance requirements of the University of California, but most students in the learning process achieve much greater results than the school requires from them.

US High School Diploma Requirements at The Athenian School:

    English: 4 years
    History/Humanities: 3 years
    Mathematics: 3 years

    School description

The Athenian School was founded in 1965 by Dyke Brown, a Yale graduate and former vice president of the Ford Foundation. Brown’s interest in educating youth grew in connection with the education of his own children, as well as his youth development and juvenile delinquency prevention work at the Ford Foundation.

The basis of the philosophy of the school, its founder put the principle of Pericles of Athens on comprehensive education, therefore the main mission of The Athenian School is not only to prepare students for successful admission to the best universities in the country, but also to develop the analytical and creative abilities of students. In addition, Dyke Brown was heavily influenced by Kurt Hahn, the German educator who founded the Outward Bound and the prestigious Gordonstoun School in Scotland. For many years, The Athenian School was the only member of the international educational organization Round Square (based on the ideas of Kurt Hahn) in the United States. Both students and teachers of schools that are part of the Round Square network believe that the approach to secondary education should be based on the six ideas of “IDEALS”: Internationalism (Internationalism), Democracy (Democracy), Environment (Environment), Adventure (Adventure ), Leadership (Leadership), Service (Service). The school is also a member of the National Association of Private Schools (NAIS) and the Association of Boarding Schools (TABS).

The complex curriculum is aimed at the realities of university life, so the school has a developed mentoring system, as well as a sensitive and attentive attitude towards students on the part of school staff and teachers. The school has small classes and each student can count on individual attention and support. Education at the school takes place through practical training with a broad empirical laboratory program in biology, chemistry, physics and environmental science. There is also a unique course in applied science for advanced students who are passionate about science. In addition, The Athenian offers a choice of over 50 AP (Advanced Placement) and Honors courses in Literature, Mathematics, Science, Foreign Languages and Fine Arts.

The 50 Best Public Elementary Schools In The U.S.

Elementary school marks a life-changing experience for children. Regardless of their preschool experience, on the first day of kindergarten, each child walks into a new world — a world that excites growing minds, a world that can intimidate, and a world that fundamentally forms a child’s impression of learning and education.

We believe the schools in this ranking exemplify the very best in elementary education. The aim of this ranking is to showcase just how good US education at the elementary-level can be. This is an American success story!

Some schools on this list may seem to have unfair advantages (better resources, more money, etc.). The common denominator, however, is that all schools listed here, working with what they have, create environments that are highly effective at stimulating learning and fostering personal growth.

We paid attention to aspects of the schools that we believe help create such effective environments. The schools on this list are not solely concerned with academics. In addition, these schools pay attention to variety, innovation, fun, and strong parental and community involvement.

This is a ranking article, sure, but we hope the take-away lesson is not whether a school was #20 or #41, #1 or #50. Every high-performing school on this list deserves your attention! These schools show what highly-motivated faculty, staff, parents, and students can achieve by raising expectations, rewarding hard work, and building character.

    1. Aukamm Elementary School

    Wiesbaden, Germany

Some of the most overlooked people in the military are the children who travel with their military parents from base to base, even if it is in a foreign country. The Department of Defense understands the special challenges that children in these circumstances face and provides education on the base when local schools are not available.

Currently, there are 250 elementary students in grades K through five attending Aukamm Elementary on the Wiesbaden Air Base. The base was originally an air base for the German Luftwaffe during World War II.

One of the classrooms at AES is a four and five multi-grade class. The other ten classes comprise kindergarten through fifth grade single grade classes. Students participate in P.E., music, art, Spanish, media center instruction, and technology instruction.

Students also participate in a Host Nation program, which provides cultural instruction and language acquisition opportunities so that students can truly develop an appreciation for their host country. Host Nation classes and activities are taught by host nation teachers. It is a unique feature of the Department of Defense Dependent Schools elementary program.

The 102nd Signal Brigade volunteers as mentors and computer club support. They also volunteer at many activities held at or by the school. Students can participate in student council, sewing and crafting, art club, gardening club, drama club, cooking club, and music club.

While the school is part of the Department of Defense Education Activity (DoDEA), the school is supported by the Kaiserslautern School District.

    2. Mason-Rice Elementary

    Newton Centre, Massachusetts

In the 90’s, Massachusetts set out to reform public education to bring about a student population that was better educated and performed better on achievement tests. Nowhere is this appreciated more than at Mason-Rice Elementary (MRE) where the third, fourth, and fifth graders outperformed all of the peers in their state.

In addition to managing almost perfect scores in math and reading in all grades, a large percentage of those passing also scored high enough to be considered advanced. Furthermore, MRE met all goals for the year, achieving adequate yearly progress.

Serving students between Kindergarten through fifth grade, students enjoy art, music, P.E., and instruction in instrumental music. Students have the opportunity to feature the books they are reading, record what they have learned from a book, and record discussions they have had about books they have read. Students can also sign up for a lunch on Fridays in which a book will be discussed.

Group instrument lessons are offered to fourth graders who present one formal concert at the end of the year. Teachers schedule other informal performances as the students progress.

    Portsmouth, New Hampshire

Approximately 400 students in grades K through five attend Little Harbor Elementary School. 23 teachers provide instruction that includes both reading and writing workshops, word study, and regular academic classes based upon Common Core objectives, and the Follow the Child framework.

Students and parents enjoy extra activities throughout the year, such as a spaghetti supper, Fall Festival, Halloween Parade, a Book Fair, and a Barn Dance for students.

Elementary students receive tutoring from high school students through a program called Amigos. Students have a student council, chess club, and a school store. Fifth graders get to attend an Environmental Camp and all grades have intramural sports.

Students in New Hampshire are tested in reading and math in 3rd through 5th grades. They are tested in writing in fifth grade, and science in fourth grade. All of Little Harbor’s grades taken together give them the second highest average of all schools in the state.

Additionally, students can participate in a garden club, aviation club, safety patrol, magic club, student council, art club, Kid Fit Club, chess club, and homework club.

Students can receive academic help at that time or just relax with friends or play games. There is a charge for the after school program, but parents only have to pay for days their children stay after school and utilize the program.

    5. Frost Elementary

    Frostburg, Maryland

The EPE Research Center, who rates state educational systems based upon how well the state does across all its districts, gave to Maryland alone a B+; all other states were given a lesser grade. Frost Elementary had the fourth highest test average combining all state assessment scores in math, reading, and science, for grades three through five. Frost serves students in grades K through 5.

Students at Frost Elementary enjoy more than just academic classes and the accolades of those who rate schools. The Parent Teacher Organization partners with Frost to provide students with enrichment activities including pumpkin decorating and a trunk or treat event complete with a D.J. For Veterans Day, local veterans came to the school, read a book to classes and shared some of their experiences with the students. The choir, comprised of 3rd through 5th grade students, performed a concert in their honor.

Looking to the community, students at Frost celebrated the Kids-Helping-Kids campaign during the week of October 27 through October 31 to raise awareness about others in need and to collect canned goods to benefit the Frostburg Food Pantry.

    6. Marion Cross School

    Norwich, Vermont

Frequently schools get caught up in the need for high scores on math and reading and give less attention to other subjects which may be tested, but that are not used to determine a school’s adequate yearly progress. This is not true at Marion Cross School where fourth and fifth graders did very well on the science and writing tests, respectively, narrowly outperforming other top schools in the state.

Students study the normal academic courses, but also take lessons in French, health, environmental education, technology, P.E., music, art, and library. Students have several innovative art projects to complete throughout the year. Many of these projects are featured on a special art website, displaying a wide array of creativity and talent. From insect drawings from first graders to group projects in fifth grade where each group is assigned a national park to depict in their drawings, art is integrated into other subjects in the curriculum, especially science.

Through the LEEEP (Learning about the Environment through Experiential Education Projects) Program, students complete outdoor projects to teach them about, and give them an appreciation for, the natural world through environmental inquiry.

Merion Elementary School has a history of excellence. The school has over 500 students in grades K through five in a campus that spans over eight acres with specialized learning support classrooms, an auditorium, gym, cafeteria, playground, playing fields, and a library/media center.

There are 23 classroom teachers and additional teachers for special education, P.E., art, library, music, and the gifted and talented program. The school also employs two literacy specialists and all students second grade and over take Spanish lessons every week with one to two language teachers.

Students at Merion are accustomed to using technology in the classroom and are given multiple opportunities every week to use wireless technology and/or the computer lab. Additionally, students in fourth and fifth grade may participate in band, orchestra, and/or choir. There are also after school athletics for interested students.

Although the school first opened its doors in 1925, the school has undergone several changes. Major renovations took place in 2003 so that the school was updated and modernized.

In the summers there are camps for young writers and readers. During the school year, the school district provides a subscription to DreamBox, which allows students to develop skills in STEM subjects both at school and at home. Parents are encouraged to have their children use the program at home and parents are given tips and ideas on how to work with their children in math to make it engaging and fun.

Students at Merion have helped raise over four thousand pounds of food for Philabundance, a charity providing food to the needy.

    8. Marais des Cygnes Valley Elementary

    Quenemo, Kansas

The Marais des Cygnes Valley School District has an elementary school and a middle/high school. The elementary school serves students in grades K through 5. Some teachers work in both schools such as the music teacher who recently acquired five acoustic guitars for use in music classes, giving students exposure to new and different types of music in both the upper and lower schools.

Fourth grade science students received a perfect score on the Kansas State Assessment of Science. Third and Fourth graders received perfect scores on the Kansas State Assessment of Math. Third and Fourth grade students received a perfect score on the Kansas State Assessment of Reading. All other scores were in the high 90s.

It is of little surprise, then, that Marais des Cygnes Valley Elementary received National Recognition from the US Department of Education as a 2014 Blue Ribbon School as well as an additional award as an exemplary school for closing the gap in achievement.

Every week, each grade elects a student of the week. Parents of students given this honor are then invited to come to the school and have lunch their children to celebrate this honor.

    9. Hawk Ridge Elementary

    Charlotte, North Carolina

Because of their almost-perfect achievement on state-administered standardized tests, Hawk Ridge has been named an Honor School of Excellence from the state of North Carolina.

Students are given the opportunity to participate in activities such as the Movie Making Club, the Fishing Club, Reader’s Theater, the Instrumentation Club, the Math Olympiad, Sports Broadcasting, as well as many other activities that are parent-sponsored.

Nearly fifty percent of the teachers have master’s degrees and almost fifty percent are National Board-certified. Weekly newsletters from the principal also include parent tips. Parents are a vital part of Hawk Ridge. In the 2013–14 school year, they raised over $30,000 to buy smart boards for the classrooms. Their efforts not only make extracurricular activities possible, but they also volunteer for many other activities such as Night of the Arts, the Science Fair, and the annual Multicultural Celebration.

Hawk Ridge is not satisfied with an ordinary curriculum. To enhance learning, the curriculum is being buoyed by the Seven Habits of Happy Kids. These are listed on the technology tools website along with several links to helpful websites and projects created by students. Also, for each grade there is a list of links that are tailored to the students of that grade to help them in a variety of skills and subjects.

    Methodology

Only schools that included grades three through five were considered for this list. Moreover, we focused on the scores and achievements of only the third, fourth, and fifth grades. When looking at state assessment scores, all state-administered tests were considered in a school’s overall average for grades three through five.

Many schools on this list earned Blue Ribbon awards from the Department of Education. Schools have to apply and qualify in order to be chosen for this award. Schools cannot reapply for five years, so obtaining this award is a significant achievement no matter the year in which it was received. America has approximately 70,000 public elementary schools, and thousands of these schools apply annually for the award. But each year only about 300 receive the coveted Blue Ribbon.

This list of schools includes a few not located in America’s 50 states (Alabama through Wyoming). All out-of-country schools on this list are run by the Department of Defense Education Activity (DoDEA). They are located on military bases and operated by certified teachers. The schools have AdvanceEd accreditation and are recognized by the US Senate as American schools.

Life for military children can be challenging because they must frequently move from base to base. Correspondingly, teachers and administrators at these schools face the challenge of an ever-changing student body. Yet such challenges also present unique opportunities, such as linguistic and cultural enrichment through a Host Nation Program. This is why a DoDEA school is ranked number one on this list.

The Fraser Institute has released its annual ranking of Ontario elementary schools. Six Toronto schools top the list. There were eight last year.

In total, the Institute evaluated the situation in 3,000 schools on nine different parameters, including test scores in reading, writing and math. nine0003

Sixteen elementary schools achieved perfect scores of ten.

Avondale Alternative, Havergal College and Islamic Institute of Toronto topped the list of schools in Toronto. Northmount, Sathya Sai and St. Sebastian also made it to the top.

Al-Risala Private Academy in Mississauga is back at the top of the list.

Critics of this ranking say it focuses too much on standardized tests and doesn’t really help students succeed in the classroom. nine0003

Proponents of these annual reports comparing the levels of different schools believe that this helps the process of improving schools.

Sending a follow-up email after an interview is often expected and can benefit your application in several ways. For one, it gives you the opportunity to reaffirm your interest in a position and to underline the value you would add to the company you are interviewing with. Moreover, it helps you to make a good impression on the hiring manager, showing that you are thoughtful and appreciative.

Use our step-by-step guide to write a clear, simple follow-up email after an interview.

Key points to keep in mind:

    • Be short and clear.
    • Keep it professional.
    • Proofread and spell-check before sending.

The first follow-up email after an interview should be sent within 24 hours, expressing thanks and inquiring as to the next steps.

If you have not received any feedback in over a week after your first follow-up email, you can send a second follow-up email as a gentle reminder that you are waiting on feedback. This should be just as friendly, enthusiastic, and professional as the first follow up email, but shorter.

    1. Subject line.

Rather than composing a new message with a different subject line, continue with the existing email thread that contains your first follow-up email.

Use the same salutation as you did in the first follow-up email.

    3. Body.

State that you are just following up on the interview, reaffirm that you are still very interested in the position, and ask for an update.

    4. Sign off.

Tips for writing a follow-up email or letter

    • Send an email: While handwritten notes can be great, time is of the essence during an active hiring process, so send an email within 24 hours of your job interview.
    • Show your enthusiasm: Hiring managers love to hire passionate people who care about the role and company. A good follow-up email is one of the best ways to reinforce our passion and emphasize that you’re a good fit for the position within their organization.
    • Include additional information: If you forgot to share an important related experience or said that you could provide additional information after the interview, your thank-you email is the perfect place to do this. You can also use it to clarify anything you feel didn’t come across as well as it should have in the interview.
    • Don’t send it without proofreading it: Regardless of whether you send your thank-you note by email or mail, be sure to read the message out loud before sending it. Reading your email aloud will help you catch any grammatical errors or typos. You’re still trying to make a good impression, so a well-written letter is vital. If you’re sending an email, be sure to send a copy to yourself first so you can check the formatting.

How to write a follow-up email for a job application

So you’ve successfully completed another phase of your job search: a full day of interviews for your ideal job. You nailed it as far as you are interested!

You are sure that you are the best fit and will soon receive an offer from them. After a few weeks, you start to get the awful feeling that the job interview wasn’t as easy as you thought.

At this point, you might think it’s best to cut your losses and move on. But don’t do it!

Contact the company before leaving this interview in the past. Of course, keep looking for a job until you get and accept a job offer, but there can be many reasons why you haven’t heard from the hiring manager.

There will likely be several other candidates and the process may take some time. There are many other factors that can cause a response delay.

Perhaps the person who is to approve your proposal letter has dealt with a personal crisis. Or the whole organization had to work on an important project.

The head of the department you applied for may have resigned unexpectedly and the organization needs to replace him first.

You have no idea what’s going on on the other side, for whatever reason. Worrying about it won’t help, but talking to your contact might.

Although you don’t want to be seen as obnoxious, you must do your best to stay in the employer’s memory.

Here’s how to write a follow-up email after a job application without sounding like a pest.

When should you follow up on a job application

It is usually acceptable to send a follow-up email one to two weeks after you have applied, unless the job posting has a set deadline for the recruitment process.

This gives employers enough time to review your resume, cover letter, and any other documents you send. If you continue to communicate after the interview, you should do so as soon as possible – within three to five days.

As a general rule, you should contact the team reviewing your application one to two weeks after you submit it to give them time to process your application. However, you can contact him earlier if you have a job offer.

In this case, contact the hiring manager and tell him that you have received an offer from another organization, but this is your first option. This can speed up the interview process and move you forward.

What do you say when you answer a job application?

After applying for a job, you can send an email or thank you note. This should be done after

How do you follow up on a job application?

Double check and make sure the next steps are correct before sending an email or making a phone call.

    Read the job description again

Review the job description again before doing anything else. Tony Frana, career consultant for FlexJobs, advises: “Look out for any deadlines or schedules that may be in the ad.”

The corporation can indicate when the application window closes in a job posting.

You do not want to follow up until this date if you apply. Instead, take the opportunity to apply for another job!”

    Be Respectful

On rare occasions, the job description may state that applicants should not call or email to inquire about their status.

If so, you must respect the employer’s wishes and refrain from contacting them. Even if it is difficult to wait, you should not continue – no matter how much you want to.

If you ignore the request, the recruiter will assume that you either didn’t read the job description carefully or didn’t follow the instructions well.

Although employers are hiring despite the pandemic, the hiring process has slowed down.

Keep this in mind as you work on your application. Hiring managers may not have any information to share with you, or they may find that they cannot hire you for the position you are applying for.

Remember that everyone is going through hard times right now and supervisors may not have valuable information for you.

    Timing is important

While you may be tempted to respond to your job application immediately after you submit it, you should usually wait a few days.

“Wait about a week or two before considering applications,” advises Fran, “unless the job posting explicitly states an application close window, in which case that gives you a target date for follow-up review.

In general, this gives hiring staff sufficient time to review submitted applications.”

    Pick a better day

Monday and Friday are the two days you should avoid talking to anyone. Monday is usually a busy day of transition when people return to work.

If the recipient doesn’t read your email by Friday, it could be buried under a mass of emails over the weekend. Tuesday to Thursday are the best days to process job applications.

    Use your network

Perhaps one of the leaders of the new company you want to work for knows one of your previous colleagues (or Aunt Marty).

Research your professional and personal connections to determine if you know anyone who can help you get a job or get your resume in the top spot.

Explain the position you want and everything that qualifies you for it, including your education, skill set and work experience. But don’t stop there; don’t forget to offer the person your help as well. They might be more willing to help you if you did it that way.

You can also use online networking platforms such as LinkedIn to find out if anyone in your network knows someone who works for the company you want to work for.

If you do, you can always contact the person to see if they have any inside information about the job. You may be able to ask for a recommendation or ask the person to put in a good word for you, depending on your relationship with them.

Make sure you properly follow up on your job application once you have demonstrated that you can and should.

    Professionalism Matters

It doesn’t mean you’re best friends just because you applied or chatted with a recruiter. It is a mistake to be too personal or informal.

Recruiters and hiring managers are nice people, and it’s their job to discuss the job with all sorts of people. On the other hand, they don’t have time to befriend everyone they interview.

When responding to job applications, be professional and respect personal limitations, even if your initial conversation was fantastic.

    Find the right email address

When applying for jobs by email, if at all possible, send your email directly to the hiring manager, not to the broad email address “[email protected]” .

If you’re lucky, the email address will be on the original job posting, but if not, you’ll have to do some more detective work to crack it. Try going to the company page on LinkedIn and selecting People.

You can then search for the hiring manager (or someone with a similar position if you don’t know their name) and see if they have the email address listed on their profile.

    Be concise

Before following up a job application, it’s a good idea to think about what you’re about to say. So, whether you’re calling a hiring manager, sending an email, or posting on LinkedIn, try to keep your communication short.

“It’s important to keep your correspondence short because hiring managers and recruiters are likely to be inundated with emails and notes from dozens of other candidates, so brevity is important.

“You should communicate two things in your email or note: your continued interest in the job and when potential clients can expect to hear about the next steps,” Fran suggests.

    Then ask a follow-up question

Of course, all you want to know is whether you got the job. However, you can ask the employer a question to justify your next steps.

If they are still accepting applications, you can find out when they plan to start narrowing down their choices and conducting interviews.

This can give you an idea of when to expect a response.

Join the social media victory by liking and following the company’s Facebook page and Twitter feed.

“In today’s labor market, employers are looking for employees who have the right professional qualifications and fit into the corporate culture.

Engaging with a brand on social media is a great way to show and demonstrate interest in it. Follow LinkedIn and other company social media pages.

“Like and comment on their posts to show the team that you’re interested in what they’re doing,” advises Fran.

Make it clear that you are in high demand

If a company is interested in you for this job, but you haven’t heard from the initial contact, you can try to expedite the process by letting them know that other companies are considering you – if and only if it is true.

“If you have other organizations interested in you, but you are looking for a specific position, you must tell them that you are in demand.”

According to Frana, “simply noting in your follow-up email that you are still very interested in the role but also exploring other options” can be a gentle approach to pushing the company into it.

Do not use any threatening language and try not to sound pompous. On the other hand, subtly letting them know you’re in demand can be a wise strategy as it can encourage them to take you more seriously and speed up the process.

You can send a professional email asking about the status of your application if you applied for a job and haven’t received a response after two weeks.

Write a good follow-up email with these examples.

Example 1: Job Application Response Tracking Email

    Job Application Tips

These templates will help you get started writing a follow-up email that fits your scenario. Here are a few more things to think about:

Adapt your writing style to the needs of the workplace

If you are applying for a corporate position, your letter should be more formal. If you’re working in a casual environment, it’s okay to keep things shorter and more conversational.

This can help you demonstrate that you are familiar with the workplace.

    Avoid follow-ups

If you don’t get a response after a few days, double-check your information, call your employer, or look for other options.

    Always remember to be patient

Employers sometimes take a long time to complete the hiring process, especially during busy periods. You can follow your application, but don’t bother them.

It’s nerve-wracking to follow, but much more nerve-wracking to wait. It’s worth giving it your all if you’re in a profession you’re passionate about.

If you continue in a pleasant and professional manner, you will be able to make a positive impression and learn what steps to take next.

    Conclusion

Although it may seem inconvenient, knowing how to follow up on a job application can mean the difference between getting an interview and not getting promoted at all.

Follow-up is an expected part of the application process, so take charge of your job search! Know where to look based on your preferences and requirements.

For example, if you are looking for a flexible work schedule, there are many options for working from home and part-time work. remote work who are looking for people like you.

So you have pre-arranged weeks for interviews. And since you are a pervert IWT reader, you even dealt with questions with your friends and family and friends.

And when you got in… you squashed every question they threw at you – and even hit them with using my portfolio technique. By all accounts, everything went very well and you feel confident about your chances. ..

    …what now?

The days following an interview can be the busiest for any job seeker and often involve constantly checking your inbox to see if they sent you an offer.

In fact, you should do something that you should do after the interview that will increase your chances of landing your dream: sending an email for a follow-up interview.

But what does your e-mail say? How long after the interview should you send it? And what will you do if you don’t hear?

Today I’ll show you how to create the perfect email for a follow-up interview. When you do it right, it will instantly make you the clear favorite for whatever job you’re after.

Bonus: Were you worried that you didn’t ask about your salary? Here is my huge free guide to salary negotiation next time.

    But first…

Why sending a follow-up email is a critical step

“But Ramit, why should I send a follow-up email? Wasn’t my good interview good enough?

Look, no matter how good your interview was, you STILL need to send a follow-up email for 5 reasons:

    1. It leaves a good impression. And impressions are everything when it comes to getting a job.
    2. The hiring manager will remember you. You were probably one of several interviews conducted by the company. Don’t get lost in the battle. There’s no better way to keep you in the hiring manager’s brain than by email.
    3. You show that you have the initiative. When you get out of the way to send an email after an interview, it shows that you are ready to go further and further to make a lasting impression.
    4. The company will see that you are genuinely interested. The following email is a great way to separate you from other respondents who most likely haven’t even thought about it.
    5. Dealing with follow-up emails. Your chances of getting a job go up if you send a follow-up email. Especially if you have neck and neck with another candidate.

Imagine that you are in the process of hiring and you have two potential candidates. Both are equally qualified for the role and interview well, but only ONE of them sent you a follow-up message thanking you for your time and calling back some of the things you did that really made an impact on them.

What do you think you are going to choose to work with?

Answer: THE PERSON WHO SENT YOU THE FOLLOW-UP MESSAGE!

It’s also important to keep in mind that your interviewer’s reputation is on the line.

This is the key, so I’ll say it again.

Your interviewer’s reputation is on the line.

Based on the few minutes they interact with you, your interlocutor has to make many important assessments. Do you have the right skills? Will you fit in with the company culture? Are you reliable and trustworthy? and so on.

It’s like speed dating on steroids – with one major exception. If they judge you wrong, they don’t just risk an awkward second date. They risk having their boss question their judgment for the rest of their career. And if it doesn’t work, they’ve wasted a lot of time and thousands of dollars. They need to do it right. Not only for YOU, but also for THEM.

It’s important to keep this in mind when you go into an interview.

Your success is in their interest. And when you follow the interview correctly, you make your job easier proving that you are a top performer who deserves this job.

Before you start your next email

First, you’ll want to make sure you nail the interview. Watch my video on how to skillfully approach tough interview questions. It’s less than 2 minutes and you will NOT regret it.

After the interview, and before you even think about rushing home to prepare that perfect email, make sure you do one thing: take the business cards or contact information of everyone you’ve talked to.

    Me too. ALL.

Was there someone who checked you on the phone before you did the interview? Get their email.

Was there a group of interviewers? Write down their contact information.

Did the employee accompany you to the waiting area and get you a glass of water before the interview? Take her business card too.

I can’t think of any employer that wouldn’t love it if their registrar told them about a terrible caller who emailed them to thank them for their help that day. They can also be your future employees, so this is an easy way to start building great relationships.

Little details go a long way when it comes to follow-up.

How to keep track of a hiring manager (with verbal script)

There are two ways to approach your next email and the pros and cons for each:

    1. Send the hiring manager a physical card or email

      Pros:

Receiving a physical message is incredibly romantic in this day and age – and it can further separate you from the rest of the applicants.

Cons: It’s not as fast as sending email – and you’ll want to send follow-up responses as soon as possible after the interview. If they move fast, your note may come in too late.

    2. Email them

      Pros:

It’s fast, easy, and allows you to send multiple people with one message (consult: write one great observation, then copy and edit it for each person you’ve spoken to).

Cons: It’s impersonal and chances are your message is lost in your inbox or spam folder. Sending the same email to everyone can backfire.

In the end, it doesn’t matter which method you choose as long as you do it.

Once you’ve done that, here’s the exact text script you can use to monitor the interview manager:

This example is for email, but you can easily use it for a physical card.

Notice three key points in this e-mail:

    1. This is a short, simple message. Your next message should not be unusual or complex. In fact, by forcing it for too long, it will either hire a hiring manager or make them think you’re desperate.
    2. This is specific. Don’t forget to elaborate on the details. Take something that you really enjoyed talking about in an interview. These details will depend on the hiring manager’s memory and will help to make an impressive impression.
    3. It should be sent as soon as possible. Strive to send your letter within two hours of the interview. This will show your enthusiasm and make it easier for you to remember all the details you need to include.

Extended Tip: The best people in all areas automate as many areas of their lives as possible . In fact, you can automate email for a follow-up interview if you want to save time and ensure it gets sent. You can do this by drafting your follow-up letter before you even go for an interview. After that, you can simply open the draft, fill in the missing details, and hit “submit” to Boom. You are done and can spend more time Big victories in your life.

    Okay… what now?

Don’t sweat or be patient. It may take the hiring manager several days or weeks to interview other applicants and make a decision.

After a few days, you can send another follow-up message to register.

Use this gentle email template to nudge them.

Notice how short and to the point this letter is. It uses a light touch but still lets them know that you are interested in the job.

It is also important that this email does not make the recipient feel guilty for not responding sooner. If you make them feel this way, the next steps will actually backfire on you and you may lose the opportunity entirely.

They are most likely just busy or your first message was lost in your inbox. This email will grab their attention and get your interview back.

After that, please wait one more week before sending the next and final response.

Extended tip : Be sure to download a tracking app like HubSpot Email Tracking Tool , which lets you know exactly when your interviewer opens your follow-up message. The tool notifies you the moment they see your email, so you can keep an eye on it while you’re in the know. Doing this is key because it’s non-destructive as they already read your email and save both you and the interviewer time.

    When calling, it stops after

If you haven’t heard back in a week, reply to your previous email followed by a message saying this:

If they are interested, they will get back to you.

Lockhart Child Development Center Update – All Saints Episcopal Church

Learn how students and teachers can apply

Hi, I am Waynett Taylor, new director of the Lockhart Child Development Center soon to be opened at All Saints’ Episcopal Church. I am honored to have the opportunity to be a part of this collaborative effort with Cabarrus County and business leaders to serve children and families in the community. I have worked in the field of education for over 20 years as a teacher for young children (birth–preschool), a public school teacher (kindergarten–third grade), adult educator, and administrator. I possess extensive knowledge of child development, family services, community outreach, and pedagogy developed through studies and experiences. Early Education is truly my passion, and I enjoy teaching and enhancing the minds of children.

As an innovative individual, I embrace change. I strategically collaborate with colleagues, staff members, and community stakeholders to develop effective partnerships. I feel a powerful responsibility to model appropriate practices and make a positive impact in the lives of others. I am passionate about coaching adults to become effective and inspiring individuals. I appreciate All Saints’ investment in Lockhart Child Development Center and its commitment to diversity, inclusion, honesty, and integrity. Above all, I appreciate the opportunity to demonstrate the ability to be a reflective practitioner with the vision to “Love as God Loves.”

I am happy to tell you that Lockhart Child Development Center is making great progress toward opening. All the classrooms are set-up, per state licensure. We expect to have all learning materials ordered by the end of June. With grants and gifts, we are updating the playground in ways that will motivate children to utilize their imagination while enhancing their physical development. We also plan to start the hiring process in July for six lead teachers, five teachers to assist in the classrooms, and two “floaters” to assist in the classrooms and prep food for breakfast, lunch, and snack.  If you or someone you know is interested in applying for a position at LCDC, please click on this application to start the process. Once you complete the application, email it to [email protected].

We expect the Lockhart CDC to open its doors to serve 68 children (from 3-months to 5-years- old) the week of September 6. Hours of operations will be from 6:30 AM – 6:00 PM. We currently have 40 slots reserved and 28 slots available (four slots for 3-12 months old, four slots for 13-24 months old, eight slots for 24-36 months old, twelve slots for 3-5 years old). The weekly cost of tuition will range from $250 to $300, depending on the age of child and their classroom assignment. If you are interested enrolling your child(ren) in our program, please click on this application to start the process. Once you complete the application, email it to [email protected]. You will be contacted to discuss the next steps in the enrollment process. There is a non-refundable application fee of $15 due at the time of official enrollment.

As we strive toward opening the center, I am here to answer any questions you may have. Please do not hesitate to contact me. I will gladly assist in any way possible. Stay tuned for future updates!!!

What? When students are able to spell words accurately and with automaticity, it helps improve fluency in decoding and encoding words. More…Less

When students are given the opportunity to retrieve the correct spelling of words mentally, they are better able to transfer this knowledge to long-term memory. When students learn new words on Monday, get assessed on Friday, and don’t see the words again as part of instruction, the spelling of those words will often be forgotten. Teachers need to be strategic in creating spelling lists that follow patterns and generalizations important for students to practice and learn.

When? Spelling is introduced as soon as students enter kindergarten and learn about the alphabet and letter-sound correspondence. More…Less

Spelling follows a progression starting with basic spelling patterns, like CVC (consonant-vowel-consonant) words, as well as words that do not follow phonetic patterns, like sight words. Throughout elementary school, students study increasingly complex phonetic patterns in order to achieve spelling mastery.

How to teach: To make spelling instruction fun, students can independently practice spelling using interactive learning activity SpeedySpeller. Teachers can assign this game during literacy centers or for spelling homework. This is a good activity to use for spelling test review.

Play to learn: SpeedySpeller provides students with the opportunity to self-assess. More…Less

They listen as each word is read aloud, then type the word as quickly and accurately as they can and hit the enter key when they are finished.

Teaching Tip: Not only does SpeedySpeller allow students to retrieve spelling words quickly and accurately, it helps students with typing skills. More…Less

Students have to be proficient in keyboarding in order to get high scores. SpeedySpeller also allows for healthy competition in the class as students race against the clock and other students to be the fastest to type and spell the entire list of words correctly.

How to Improve Your Typing Speed

Take a deep breath, relax your fingers, and take it slow. You need to be focused and not annoyed when attempting the typing speed test. The best thing you can do to start typing faster is to type more. The more practice you get under your belt, the faster your ‘typing-fu’ will be. It’s all about developing muscle memory. Just make sure you are reinforcing good habits and not ones that will leave your fingers hurting after an intense typing session.

What Is the Best 10-Finger Typing Layout?

Of course, you should use ten fingers for typing, but you can start with a layout that’s the most comfortable for you. The small bumps on the F and J keys will help your fingers locate the correct position without looking. This setup should give you a full range of motion. The more you type, the faster you will get. There are a few alternative layouts that propose a more ergonomic approach to typing. You could also take the big leap and try out the Dvorak keyboard, but that’s a different story.

    Who Invented the Qwerty Keyboard?

The QWERTY keyboard was invented in 1868 by Christopher Latham Sholes. He also designed the first successful typewriter. The order of the keys was decided by listing the most common letter combinations and making sure that they were not placed next to each other. He did this to avoid problems that often happened when two neighboring keys were pressed consecutively. The QWERTY keyboard is used to this day and is the most widely used keyboard available.

The more you practice typing, and the more you test your typing speed, the higher your WPM score will be. Some online typing tests and typing test games focus only on WPM typing. The disadvantage of the WPM typing test is that you are only learning how to type fast. WPM typing tests do not show your accuracy.

Why Is Typing Speed Important to Everyone?

The faster you type, the faster you will be able to communicate with others. You will be able to save a ton of time on any kind of work that requires typing. At first, it will be a couple of extra minutes that you won’t really notice. Over time, the minutes will turn into hours of saved time that you can spend on other activities.

What Is the Average Typing Speed?

The average person types between 38 and 40 words per minute (WPM). That translates into between 190 and 200 characters per minute (CPM). However, professional typists type a lot faster, averaging between 65 and 75 WPM.

What Is CPM and How Can You Calculate It?

The CPM stands for the number of characters you type per minute, including all the mistakes. “Corrected” scores count only correctly typed words. WPM is just the corrected CPM divided by five. This is the de facto international standard.

How Many Words per Minute Is a Good Score?

An average professional typist usually types around 65 to 75 WPM. More advanced positions require 80 to 95 (this is typically the minimum required for dispatch positions and other time-sensitive typing jobs). There are also some advanced typists whose work requires speeds above 120 WPM.

    • Print Speed – Average Typing Speed

    • Typing time – time directly spent on typing

    • Errors – the number of typos made in the process of typing

    How is print speed measured?

In the Russian segment of typing simulators and programs that measure typing performance, typing speed is usually measured in “characters per minute” , i.e. in the number of characters typed in 1 minute.

The typing speed, measured in characters per minute, is referred to in English as CPM (characters per minute) .

In the English segment, the unit of typing speed is words, not characters. Accordingly, this print speed is measured in “words per minute” and is referred to in English as WPM (words per minute) .

As a general rule, do not measure the actual number of words, but divide the typing speed in characters per minute by the average word length.

Sometimes print speed is measured in “beats per minute” . In this case, the unit of measurement is not only the number of characters typed, but also the number of keystrokes on auxiliary keys, such as Shift and Alt.

In English, this dialing speed is referred to as SPM (strokes per minute) .

The average length of one English word is considered to be 5 characters, while for the Russian language the average length of a word is 7.2 characters.

Do not confuse print speed, measured in characters per minute, and print speed, measured in beats per minute – they are different values!

What is a good print speed?

The optimum typing speed to maintain productivity while typing is 250 characters per minute. It is with this speed that the average person thinks when he formulates in his head the thought that he needs to type on the keyboard.

Use the typing speed scale to evaluate your score on the speed test:

    Dial speed Set character
< 120 cpm < 24 wpm Slow typing speed typical for someone with little keyboard typing experience
120-160 cpm 24-32 wpm typing speed of an average person typing with 2-4 fingers while looking at the keyboard
160-260 cpm 32-52 wpm the average typing speed of a person who is proficient in blind ten-finger typing
260-350 cpm 52-70 wpm good typing speed of a person who has completed a touch typing course more than once or is gaining typing speed with a typing trainer
350-400 cpm 70-80 wpm professional typing speed
    > 400 cpm > 80 wpm Very fast print speed, close to speech speed
A4 page print time and speed
Dial speed Number of pages A4
    1 3 5 10
    120 cpm 24 wpm 15m 45m 1h 15m 2h 30m
    180 cpm 36 wpm 10m 30m 50m 1h 40m
    240 cpm 48 wpm 7m 22m 37m 1h 15m
    320 cpm 64 wpm 5m 16m 28m 56m
    400 cpm 80 wpm 4m 13m 22m 45m

Approximately 1800 characters fit on an A4 page printed in 14 Times New Roman font with 1. 5 line spacing.

The comparison table shows the print speed and the corresponding time it takes to set a given number of A4 pages.

As you can see, the result of owning fast printing is obvious!

Take a ten-finger blind typing course to save yourself time.

    • For languages using the Cyrillic alphabet, the typing speed is measured in characters per minute (how many characters per minute you typed without typos). A sign is any character, including spaces.
    • In languages with the Latin alphabet – wpm . Word – 5 characters including spaces.

    • What is a good speed?

There is no definite answer to this question. But if you look at the average typing speed on the keyboard, which is 207 characters per minute, then we can say that a good typing speed is above average.

For example, 225 cpm and above is considered good for office workers. For secretaries – more than 300 characters / min.

For children, the typing speed standards are different:

    • elementary school – 40-75 characters per minute;
    • medium – 75-125 characters/min;
    • senior – 100-175 characters / min;
    • students – more than 150 characters / min.

    • What is the average touch typing speed?

Average print speed is only 207 characters per minute. To improve your typing skills and learn how to type like a pro, you need to constantly practice.

Remember: practice, practice and more practice. Studies have shown that consistent practice can help you outperform the average typing speed by up to three times. You can check typing speed online with Ratatype.

    • What is the fastest print speed?

1080 characters in one minute on an IBM electric typewriter – the fastest typing record set by Stella Pajunas at 1946 year. Barbara Blackburn is the current champion in English typing. During a test in 2005, she reached a typing speed of up to 1060 characters per minute on a Dvorak keyboard, a simplified version of the QWERTY layout familiar to us.

Sean Vrona set another record in the Ultimate Typing Championship – 1280 characters per minute. Vrona also unofficially broke Blackburn’s typing record by maintaining 870 characters per minute for 50 minutes. Although this record is not recognized by Guinness, because the team did not track it.

Try to set a new typing record with Ratatype, it will only take a couple of minutes to test your typing speed.

    • Is the print speed of 100 cpm good?

Depends on age. For example, for elementary and middle school children, this is a good speed.

For high school and adults, 100 cpm is considered low. Take a typing course and your typing speed will increase.

    • How to learn to type faster than 500 cpm?

Record holders print at 1,000 cpm and higher, so 500 cpm is an achievable target.
