Academy of Screen Printing of the Center for Printing Technologies ATD
20 December 2017 7095
The Screen Printing Academy of the ATD Printing Technologies Center conducts training courses for designers, technologists and printers in the following areas:
Textile printing
Fabric decoration is one of the most important areas of screen printing. The variety of inks and products used to obtain various special effects requires extensive knowledge and skills from printers and technologists. The result of printing largely depends on their preparation – knowledge of the range of inks used, technological features and nuances of printing on textiles. The training course includes theoretical training and practical work on the SHENK SPIDER automatic carousel printing machine manufactured by WALZ (Germany) or the APOLLO manual carousel machine manufactured by ACOS GRAF (Portugal) at the Screen Printing Academy. In the process of learning for printing, various types of inks are used: plastisol, water, etch. The program is designed for 3-4 working days. The maximum composition of the group is 3 people. nine0005
Training program:
Features of screen printing on textile materials
Varieties of printing inks. The choice of paint for the production of various products
Features of printing technology with plastisol, water-based and etching inks
Variety of special effects for textile printing
Selecting grids for printing with various types of inks and obtaining special effects
Printing squeegee.
Squeegee specifications, squeegee selection for printing
Press setup and print settings
Proof printing
Screen plate preparation
The second technological stage of the screen printing process after the PREPRESS stage is the production of printing plates (TPF). The training course includes theoretical training and practical training conducted at the production site, equipped with modern equipment. The program is designed for two to three working days. The maximum number of listeners is 3 people. nine0005
Training program:
Quality criteria for screen printing plates (TPF).
Quality Assurance Conditions for Preparing Printing Plates
Technological stages of the production process for the preparation of TPP
Parameters of stencil screens and their selection for the manufacture of TPP
Influence of the grid on the reproduction of line and bitmap images
Printing frame options
Mesh tension on the printing frame. Effect of Tension Force on Print Quality
Mesh preparation for emulsion application
Varieties of photographic emulsions and capillary films
Application of direct photographic emulsion and capillary film on the grid. Emulsion application equipment, CTS
systems
Exposure. Exposure equipment. Selection of the optimal exposure time. Exposure Calculator and Stepped Exposure Control Dial
Development, quality control and plate retouching
Mesh regeneration. A variety of regeneration chemicals and the right choice
Color separation and file preparation for screen printing
The first and most important step in any printing method is the proper preparation of image files. Screen printing is no exception. Proper file preparation is a necessary condition for obtaining a high-quality print of any color on any material. The result of the stage, which is usually called PREPRESS in printing, is a set of color-separated transparencies. In the technological scheme of printing, transparencies become originals for subsequent copying in the manufacture of printing plates. It is impossible to correct errors in color separation, image file preparation and film output at subsequent stages of the technological chain. Thus, the basis of the printing result is the quality of the transparencies, which, in turn, depends on the correct preparation of the files and the method of obtaining the films themselves. nine0107
The program of this course includes two parts: the first part is devoted to preparing an image for film output and color separation features for various screen printing tasks, the second part is dedicated to the technology of transparencies film output. The course of study includes both theoretical and practical classes. The main principle of training is an individual approach to each student. The program is designed for one working week (5 working days). By individual agreement, it is possible to divide the 2 parts of the program and focus on certain topics that are of the greatest interest to the student. The maximum number of listeners is 2 people. nine0005
Curriculum: Part I
Introduction: halftone and line art – differences in file preparation.
Raster and vector file formats and programs for working with halftone and line images.
Working with vector files. Color separation of line images.
Processing halftone image files.
nine0085 Screen line selection.
Bitmap color separation:
– CMYK on white substrates
– CMYK on black and color substrates
– monochrome (black and white/sepia) image
– index color separation
Profiling for printing with plastisol, etch and water-based inks. Differences in color separations and gradation correction when preparing files for printing with different types of inks. nine0086

Street entertainment script on the theme “Summer, Sun and Water!” for children of senior preschool age
Obleskova Nina Ivanovna, teacher of the first qualification category, MDOU kindergarten of compensatory type No. 63 “Rostok”, Podolsk City District, Moscow Region. Summer is a wonderful time, the most fruitful time for improving the health of children, forming their habits of a healthy lifestyle. Summer holidays and entertainment in kindergarten are bright and joyful events in the life of preschool children, which allow you to relax, shake yourself up, forget, and sometimes just take a break from everyday life. The main purpose of the holiday in the preschool educational institution is the formation of emotions and feelings, which are the most important condition for the development of the individual. The participation of children in singing, games, round dances, dancing strengthens and develops the child’s body, improves coordination of movements. (MDOU “Kindergarten No.
140″) From the history of the trade union movement
The history of the trade union movement in Russia
Birth and early years organizing the struggle of the working people for the improvement of working conditions and the economic situation of the workers.
The First All-Russian Conference of Trade Unions – on October 6, 1905, the Moscow Bureau of Commissioners, or the Central Bureau of Trade Unions (CBPS), was formed and, in essence, laid the foundation for the organizational formation and development of the trade union movement in Russia.
1941-1945 The role of the trade unions in the movement “Everything for the front – everything for the Victory!” is great. For selfless work, more than 200 workers were awarded the title of Hero of Socialist Labor. The trade unions published the Book of Memory, which has become a valuable source of information for present and future generations about the heroic past of our people.
Post-war years The thirty-year period (1956-1985) of the development of trade unions cannot be unambiguously assessed: their fate was repeatedly refracted following those historical twists that Soviet (Russian) society underwent.
The period of “perestroika” When evaluating the activities of the country’s trade unions in 1985-1995, the conclusion is legitimate: it was a critical period that was difficult in all respects. It was embodied in the revival of the Russian trade union movement, in the initiative activity of trade union organizations to protect the interests of workers in the context of political and economic reforms.
Creation of the Federation of Independent Trade Unions 90, which proclaimed the creation of the Federation of Independent Trade Unions of Russia (FNPR), which for the first time in the country adopted the Declaration on the Rights of Workers and the program for reforming labor legislation, organized the development of amendments and additions to the Code of Labor Laws, bills in the field of social policy, as well as the concept of the future Labor code.
November 4 – Day of National Unity (material from the website www.calend.ru was used) labor rights and interests.
The right of citizens to form trade unions is guaranteed by the Constitution of the Russian Federation (Article 30) and the Law “On Trade Unions, Their Rights and Guarantees of Activity” (Article 2). Everyone who has reached the age of 14 and is engaged in labor (professional) activities has the right to form a trade union, join it and engage in trade union activities. At the same time, no prior permission is required from any state authorities, local authorities, employers to create a trade union and to join a trade union.

HOW TO SURVIVE THE LONG HOT TEXAS SUMMER – Our Texas – Russian Newspaper in Houston, Dallas, San-Antonio, Austin, Texas
This year’s record high temperatures in Texas came much earlier than usual. Already recorded deaths from overheating warn that the summer of 2003 could be just as bad as the 1990s.
In 1998, most of the state experienced record high temperatures for nearly 3 months, resulting in 9 deaths8 people. Since 1995, at least 427 people have died in Texas from overheating.
Recent tragedies – the death of a 2-year-old child left inside a car near a kindergarten in Dallas, a homeless man in El Paso, three people in a stuffy car in Baytown, and 18 illegal immigrants to Texas in a tractor trailer near Victoria – remind that heat can be deadly.
According to David Zane, an epidemiologist for the Texas Department of Health, heat, especially when accompanied by high humidity, is more dangerous than people realize.
Of course, heat can be deadly for everyone, Zane says, but it’s most dangerous for the elderly, the sick, and children, and those who can’t be in an air-conditioned room. “The longer the duration of overheating, the greater the danger, because with the increase in the duration of the body’s natural cooling system – the sweating system – the body’s weakness increases,” he says.
The impossibility of adequate cooling of the body by the sweating system and the incomplete replacement of the fluid lost by the body are fatal.
Early symptoms of overheating include excessive sweating, muscle cramps, weakness, nausea, dizziness, weak but rapid pulse, and headache. Those who have these symptoms, especially along with fever, should stay in the shade or in an air-conditioned room and drink plenty of fluids.
If a person suffering from overheating cannot be cooled, they may suffer from heat stroke, which can lead to disability and even death. Symptoms of heat stroke are very high body temperature, red, dry skin, lack of sweating, rapid pulse, dizziness or loss of consciousness. In case of heat stroke, emergency medical attention is required.
Most cases of overheating can be prevented by following simple rules of conduct. Staying in an air-conditioned room and drinking plenty of fluids are most effective. If there is no air conditioning in the room, curtain the windows and turn on the fans. In the case where high temperature and high humidity last for a long time, direct the fans so that hot air is blown out of the windows to the outside. Try to spend part of your time daily in an air-conditioned space, such as a library, mall, or other public place.
During very hot days, supervise children playing outside as they can become dehydrated very quickly. Give them plenty of fluids, especially water, and wear light, well-ventilated clothing.
The following rules must be observed:
In hot weather, never leave anyone in a closed parked car, even for a short time.
Drink plenty of fluids, avoiding alcoholic and caffeinated drinks, which cause the body to lose water, and sugary drinks, which can interfere with moisture absorption.
Schedule energy-intensive outdoor activities early and late in the day.
Rest often during work or outdoor activities.
Wear light, loose clothing.
Stay in an air-conditioned room as much as possible.
Eat frequent but light and balanced meals.
Keep children warm and do not wrap them in blankets.
Check in often to see how the elderly, sick and disabled are doing.
If you are going to spend some time in the sun or heat, ask your doctor or pharmacist if you can take certain medications, especially diuretics and antihistamines.
At the first sign of overheating – excessive sweating, dizziness, nausea, headache, muscle cramps – move to a cool room, rest and drink plenty of fluids. If these measures do not relieve symptoms of overheating, seek emergency medical attention.
Pets also need extra attention during the summer. Animals in the open air must be provided with a place in the shade and sufficient water. Never leave animals in a car or in an unventilated area.

Kiss that money goodbye
dec. 2022 • Family holidays
These people need a refund policy or a way to change dates on tickets for holiday lights. They are straight up stealing people’s money and refuse to do a thing about it. I’ve called several times to ask about the ticket buying process. No one returns calls. The website automatically defaults to the soonest available date and if your page times out and refreshes it will default to the earliest date again. I’m sure many people have been burned. Let alone if you are coming from out of state and some sort of travel delay happens. You lost your money. Pretty pitiful.

Christmas lights
dec. 2022 • Family fun
Went for the Christmas lights after Christmas…I was appreciative that they don’t take them down immediately. It was simply amazing. I would love to go see the gardens in the spring. The downside is that there weren’t many benches for taking breaks from walking.

Christmas Lights in the Park
Nov. 2022 • For two
The most unbelievable Christmas lights we’ve ever seen. This was a last minute activity for us, so we didn’t know what to expect. But for $20 a person it was SO WORTH every penny! We couldn’t believe it! Great job to these creative people who made this even possible!

Holiday Lights
Nov. 2022 • For two
Beware of their website! We came to visit for the holiday lights not knowing tickets were only available online. Standing by the ticket booth I bought tickets online – accidentally for a night we will not be here. The website automatically moves your purchase to the next available date so if you are not paying attention it is very easy to buy tickets for a date you don’t want. Tickets are non-refundable and non-transferable so we wasted our money.

While the gardens are beautiful they were setting up for Christmas and not all paths were available nor was the floating cloud bridge. The lights that were completed were beautiful! Our dog enjoyed the new smells and walk too.

Disappointed this visit
Oct. 2022 • For two
We have visited Garvin Gardens one time before and enjoyed it tremendously. Looked forward to next visit. We were there the middle of October and were greatly disappointed. It was very dry which of course we knew the foliage wouldn’t be as great and was prepared for that but what we found disappointed in was they had begun preparing for Christmas which is fine except there were people working, ladders everywhere, lights lying on the ground waiting to be strung, flower beds just dirt etc. we didn’t pay to come in and watch Christmas construction being done when it is just mid October. We were expecting to see lots of pumpkins and fall decorations. Wish we didn’t see except one beautifully done cornucopia. We love Christmas time and realize it’s a big event for them to prepare for but just didn’t feel we got our moneys worth this time.

I love Lighthouse Academy!!! The best teachers and staff in a great environment! My kids LOVE all of you lovely ladies! Thank you for everything you all do daily to care for my children!
Sarah Chilelli
All three of our kids attend Lighthouse and we LOVE it there! It’s amazing the things my 4 year old preschooler has learned! We’re keeping him at LH for kindergarten and we’re certain he will be more than prepared for 1st grade public school.
Rebecca Lee
Lighthouse has changed my perspective of a daycare. It not only made me feel at ease where my boys will be at when I’m at work but it makes them feel comfortable to wake up every morning and WANT to go to school.
Lighthouse is like our second family. The staff is so considerate and caring for my boys. From the very first moment walking into lighthouse I fell in love with everything, not just because it was brand new but because there is so much space for the children in each room. Especially the basement that is fully finished for them to play and run around on cold and rainy days when they can’t go outside. Considering that I’m a mother of a 4 1/2 & 3 year old I’m blessed to have them in lighthouse academy.
Candice
Lighthouse is a true gem! All four of my daughters attend Lighthouse and are flourishing from the care and instruction they receive. This place is truly a beacon for young minds and I am confident that my girls’ start here will give them skills that will guide them throughout their lives. And of course their day is brightened by Ms. Kate’s smile as they enter each morning.
Jennifer Widd
We couldn’t be happier with Lighthouse’s location, building amenities, and most importantly, its staff.
We know our children are cared for, loved, educated, and truly enjoy their time at Lighthouse.
Noelle Fahey
When we selected Lighthouse, we didn’t know how much the teachers would come to care for our daughter. It’s been this intangible quality that has made Lighthouse the perfect choice for us. The way the Lighthouse staff treats, cares for, respects and truly loves our little one is invaluable. Alicia loves them all back and we couldn’t envision her being anywhere else!

Indiana is located on the Great Plains of the United States. Northern
part of the state is almost flat lowlands stretching along the coast of Lake Michigan; in central

French traders came to Indiana, mainly buying furs from the Indians.
An extremely important trade route for the French connecting the colonies passed through Indiana
Canada to the north and Louisiana to the south. For
its protection, as well as to combat the ever-increasing influence of the English colonies in the east, in Indiana was built
a number of fortified outposts. The territory of modern Indiana became, among other things, the subject of disputes between
Great Britain and France, which in 1754 led to the start of the French and Indian War. After graduation in 1763
the lands of Indiana became formally British, but for several more years clashes with the Indians continued,
known as the “Pontiac War”. nine0089

between the Appalachians in the east and the Mississippi in the west, the Great Lakes in
north and the Ohio River in the south. Indiana also entered the new territory, where then there were only two
small American settlements. In 1800, the Indiana Territory was carved out of the Northwest Territory, into which
included the lands of the modern states of Indiana, Illinois and Wisconsin, as well as
parts of Minnesota, Michigan and Ohio. Exactly then
the name “Indiana” was used officially for the first time. This word means “land of the Indians” or “Indian land”, because
on the territory of the modern state of Indiana, before the arrival of Europeans, the Iroquois, Hurons, Miamis and other Indians lived
tribes. nine0089
In subsequent years, Indiana’s borders were changed several times as the US government established
new states and territories. During the war between the United States and Great Britain in 1812–15, the Indiana Territory passed
several battles, mainly with the Indians who supported the British (their charismatic leader entered the history of the United States
Tecumseh). On December 11, 1816, the United States Congress voted to recognize Indiana as the nineteenth
US state.
Now in the capital and largest city of Indiana – Indianapolis – live about 875,000 people (17th place in
list of the largest cities in the United States), and a metropolis that has grown around the city of about 2,000,000 inhabitants. nine0089
For most of its history, Indiana has been a predominantly industrial state

Gary. Once it was a prosperous city. Now its fate is sad – it turns into a ghost town. It was founded at 1906, simultaneously with the construction of a metallurgical plant here. The main part of the population was employed in this industry and the city developed. However, when the crisis came, mass unemployment came. People left their homes in whole streets, hotels, shops and restaurants were boarded up, and their owners simply fled from here. The population has decreased by more than 55%, crime has increased. Despite this, Gary is world famous, because Michael Jackson was born here. Hundreds of thousands of fans of his work come here to see the tiny house in which he grew up with his brothers and sisters.

100+ Questions You Can Ask Your Kids That Will Make You a Better Parent
“Mommy! Why can I not open my eyes when I look at the sun?
Why do I always have to sleep early, when you can stay up late?
Momma, why does the water not flow up the mountain ever?
Doesn’t the moon hate the sun for hiding it in the daytime?
Why is my hair straight and Dad’s curly?
Why can I not fly like the birds?”
Have you also had your share of the endless questions with limited unsatisfactory answers for your little ones? Did you ever think of hiding behind the couch like me seeing your little one in a questioning mode?
It’s payback time! But don’t worry! I’ll make sure it is fun for everyone!
It’s your turn to put some interesting questions to your kids. Because when you put a thoughtful question to your child, it zaps on her thinking mode automatically. And when young minds think, analyze or introspect, they learn best and grow up to be resourceful adults who can think out of the box and survive in any situation.

These questions also build connection between you and your child. They see you actually listening to what they have to say, and they know that they matter to you. You, in turn, get to learn more about what is going on inside their heads and in their lives.
Here are 100 questions which you can ask your kids and enjoy their wittiness, thoughtfulness, and the strength of their character as they answer them. Observe and study their answers carefully as they are going to reveal a great deal about your little bundles as they struggle to answer you or open up greater communication channels for you.
I’ve divided them up into categories that will allow you to focus on having them think critically about several areas of their development.
Here we go-
Getting to Know Them Better
The questions are simple and oft asked, but their answers are going to surprise you! It’s a simple exercise to see if they can make choices and stick with them. Even you littlest one isn’t so little in their head. You’ll probably love their indecisiveness and their reasons to put someone on their list or to take them off.
If you could bring one of the objects to life, what would that be and why?
Your favorite time of the day?
Who would you want as your imaginary best friend- could be anyone? (Be ready for anyone from Captain America to Iron Man to Ariana!)
If you could have one of your friends as your brother or sister, who would it be?
What is the one food you like most? (Be ready to get all fancy answers as they struggle to let their imaginations run wild. )
Who’s your favorite friend?
Who’s your favorite teacher?
Your favorite sandwich topping?
A cartoon character you love the most?
A vacation you would want to repeat again and why?
All-time favorite movie?
One book you’ve enjoyed reading the most?
Which vegetable would you want to make disappear from the face of the earth?
What cheers you up when you’re really low?
–And this list could go on!
Answering such questions would help them make their choices, mostly between equally loved things and it’s highly likely they won’t be able to decide on any one thing. The choices may change wildly from day to day and week to week, and – as in my child’s case – depending on her mood.
But nonetheless, it does give me a fair idea of her present state of mind. So, keep shooting these questions from time to time and find reasons for the change in the favorites. If the shifts seem normal and part of growing up, breathe easy! If not, look for reasons why they are unable to decide and stick to their own choices.
They are a great way to connect and peak into your little one’s mind but remember – the key is to keep them fun!
Boosting Social Skills
These questions build on the simpler questions from above and take them to the next level. They are amazing conversation starters… instead of shooting them in rapid fire, look to ask just one or two and let the conversations and discussions build into something a lot deeper and more insightful – for both of you!

This will help to maintain an honest dialogue in the future. The first time I asked my daughter about the pranks she would love to play with her friends, her answers were more unabashed. The next time they were more guarded and controlled.
Maybe you could work your responses into a story, or work on that later.

A classmate is trying to pull off a naughty and scary prank on a friend. Would you talk her out of it, or would you join in the fun?
Boosting Resilience
Failure has become so unacceptable that we have managed to raise an army of frustrated kids. Kids who do not learn to tolerate failure are highly vulnerable to anxiety. It leads to meltdowns when the inevitable failure does occur, whether it happens in preschool or college. And the worst happens when they give up trying.
Michael Jordan, the world-famous athlete has spoken extensively about how perseverance and resilience in the face of challenges on and off the court have made him a winner. He has spent years advocating the importance of losing.
Dr. Amanda Mintzer, a clinical psychologist at the Child Mind Institute stresses on why imperfections are necessary and how to tolerate them. She says, “The ability to tolerate imperfection—that something is not going exactly your way—is often times more important to learn than whatever the content subject is.”
Does counting to 10 help when you’re angry or do you need 90 more counts?
What would you do if “your dog ate your project” on the day of its submission?
What do you do to avoid a situation which is likely to get aggressive?
What efforts do you make to not discuss things which you are sure will hurt one of your friends?
How do you think the waitress must be feeling when Mr. X shouted at her?
What would you do if this doesn’t pull off? What’s your Plan B?
How do you react when you get bad grades despite putting in your best effort?
Your reaction on coming second in a race by a fraction of a second.
What if your favorite toy is broken into pieces by your younger brother?
How would you feel on missing the first half of the movie because Daddy got back late from the office?
Despite making your best effort, your teacher scolds you for not submitting a good project. How would you feel?
If no one liked your ideas in a group discussion, how would you react?
I made mental notes of some of her answers so that, at a later time, I could check back in with her on them. I also made plans to help her improve in some of the areas of resilience where she was a bit low.
Developing Critical Thinking and Analysis
Young children who are 2 to 7 years of age are not mentally equipped for complete critical thinking. They learn through imaginative play and language and find it difficult to truly understand the standpoint of others. Critical thinking questions for them should focus on comparisons and reasoning. “What If,” “How,” and “Why” questions help open up their minds to the thinking process. As they get older you can ask them more involved questions. Here is a sampling of few questions to pick from:
What is the one thing you’d like to invent which would make life easier for you?
What is the one superpower the superheroes are missing out on? And if you got it, how would you use it?
What if our world suddenly comes under an alien attack?
What if suddenly all gadgets, smart phones, video games and tablets disappear?
Do you think Batman has only one pair of clothes? He seems to wear them always!
What do you think about what was said on the news tonight?
Why do adults make rules that they sometimes don’t follow?
If you had more than 24 hours in a day and others did not, how would things work out for you?
What’s the most difficult part about growing up?
What is one activity you would want to try out?
What would you want to be famous for?
How would you describe yourself in five words?
If you were given the power to solve one problem, which one would it be?
Emotional Endurance
Psychologist Giuliett Moran of ‘Empowering Parents’ says it’s important to be specific when asking kids about their emotions. We all know importance of open-ended questions. Moran stresses that asking questions that address feelings or emotions can help kids learn how to manage them.
“Children need to be able to identify, label and communicate their feelings,” she says. “It’s important to make discussing feelings part of your everyday routine. This will help build social and emotional intelligence in your child – both life skills that set children up for success.”
What is the one thing that keeps you going even when you want to give up?
How fortunate do you think you are and in what ways?
When you disagree with your friends, how do you show it?
How would you interact with someone who’s slightly different from you- say physically or mentally?
What do you worry about the most?
How many times have you felt jealous of your friends and why?
If you could go back in time and change three wrong things you did, what would they be?
Have you ever felt that you should have spoken up instead of keeping quiet?
Do you feel that a particular situation would’ve been better if you had maintained silence?
When do you think you made a wrong choice?
Do you think you are short tempered and fly off your handle too often, or are you very patient and take a long time to get angry?
Do you remember an incident when you demonstrated great patience and were rewarded for it?
Have you ever lied because you were afraid of the consequences?
Tell me one achievement which you actually nailed after repeated attempts.
Improving Bonding
If you are tired of answers in monosyllables, and I’m sure parents of most boys would nod all the way in agreement, you need some great questions that’ll help your kids open up more to you.
Vickie Falcone, author of Buddha Never Raised Kids and Jesus Didn’t Drive Carpool suggests a feeling of ‘connectedness’ is the most important factor in a child’s ultimate success and happiness. Her concept of PHIL ‘EM UP is a great one. It says in order to build strong relationships with our children, we need to give them choices and control over a few things (so they can feel POWERFUL), acknowledge their feelings (so they can feel HEARD), ask their opinions (so they can feel IMPORTANT) and show them unconditional love (so they can feel LOVED).
Why do you think some kids disobey their parents?
What makes you feel special?
What is the one rule you would want to change at home?
What is your favorite family tradition?
What do you like most about your sisters/brothers?
If you’d exchange your place with Daddy/Mummy for a day, what would you do?
What is the best thing that happened to you in the past week?
What’s the toughest part about being a kid?
What are your favorite memories?
What is something you thought you’d never tell anyone but somehow it slipped out?
Describe how you’re feeling in a different word than you usually do.
How would you react if you found out that your younger sibling has his hands in all the wrong things?
One question you would ask someone to make sure he/she can be trusted with a secret?
Would you ever put down your feelings in a diary? Also, would you read someone else’s diary if you stumbled upon it?
Who do you find most difficult to communicate with among family and friends?
Whew! That was a long list with so many questions!
But I’m pretty sure the answers will be worth it all. Each answer will be a window to your child’s mindset, the core values he has imbibed till now and his strengths and weaknesses. Do not miss out on the cues he/she drops and keep improving to become the best parent you can for your child.
A word of caution: The questions rebound too. Once your little one bares it all to you, he’d expect you to answer them honestly as well. So, get ready to face the rapid fire!!

Unfortunately, no: to “build” an eye, you need a lot of living cells, and most microbes have too few of them or even one – he himself.
But even if the microbes suddenly had eyes, they would still hardly see their fellows. After all, the eye simply perceives light, and vision is already the fruit of the activity of the nervous system. Therefore, even if the eye could fit on the microbe, there is still no place for the nervous system.
However, bacteria can communicate with each other. Scientists have found that certain types of bacteria emit certain signals. This allows them to determine the size of their community.
Explanation for a child: microbes can sense that there is another microbe next to them, but they cannot see, because such a complex system as vision cannot be created on such a small creature as a bacterium.
2.
Everything in the world has its own state – liquid, solid or gaseous. But here the water is also “wet”, because the water molecules have a certain connection between themselves and are able to “cling” to hands, objects, clothes, transferring some of their properties to them, to moisten.
The concept of “wet” is our tactile sensations, what we can describe when touching water. The receptors send signals to the brain, and the combination of movement, temperature, water pressure tells it “water is wet.”
Explanation for a child: We couldn’t say that water is wet if our skin couldn’t feel. Water particles attach to the skin, making it temporarily wet.
3.
The aircraft is kept in the air by lift. It, in turn, occurs when air currents move towards the wing. The wing is turned at a precise angle and at a certain speed the aircraft begins to “take off”, to strive upwards. The oncoming air flow constantly supports the wing, preventing it from falling.
It is the engines that accelerate the plane, of course. Jets push the plane forward, while propellers, as it were, pull it along.
Airplane operation is affected by 4 forces – thrust, drag, weight, lift. Their interaction allows the aircraft to stay in the air.
Explanation for a child: an airplane can take off in the air because the engineers came up with a special shape of the wings, they help the air hold it, while the engines make the plane move.
4.
Almost all major planets, and the Earth is no exception, are spherical. They took this form because they are very heavy. And their own gravitational force (gravity) gives them the shape of a ball.
If another force suddenly appeared and wanted to give the planet, for example, the shape of a cube, then when the action of this force ends, the gravitational force will again begin to “gather” the planet into a ball. The protruding parts will begin to retract until the entire surface becomes harmonious from the “point of view” of the force of gravity.
But still the Earth is not a perfect sphere – it is flattened from the side of the poles.
An explanation for a child: our planet is very heavy, and therefore it is difficult for it to accept other forms. An invisible force that acts on our Earth “forces” it to be round.
5.
Rabbit, chicken, beef, fish… Why don’t they produce food with the most “cat” taste – the taste of mice? It’s simple: people who create food do not know the taste of mice and are not going to try.
Would cats be happy with such food – this is a big question. After all, many domestic cats, even if they catch a mouse, almost never eat it, but only brag about their prey to the owner and play with it. Scientists say that in order for a cat to want to eat a mouse, it needs to be shown this process in childhood, to develop a skill. In other words, if the mother cat did not teach to hunt, and then eat a mouse, then the cat does not really come to mind, unless she is lost in the forest and is not hungry.
Explanation for the child: to know that the food will be tasty, you need to try it, and no one from people will eat a mouse. In addition, domestic cats may also not like the taste of mice, because they catch them, but rarely eat them.
6.
In order for a cat’s eyes to glow in the dark, there must still be some light in the room. Because this glow is nothing but a reflection of light, in a completely dark room the eyes will not glow.
The eyes of a cat have a very thin reflective layer of the eye, consisting of transparent cells. The light is not completely absorbed by the cat’s eye, but is reflected by transparent cells and comes out in a narrow beam. This property allows cats to see in the dark much better.
Explanation for a child: a cat’s eye has special transparent particles, they can be compared with pieces of a mirror. If there is even a little light in a dark room, it will certainly be reflected from these “mirrors”, and it will seem to us that the cat’s eyes are on fire.
7.
There is a funny story that children are told about the fact that blood is actually blue and only when it comes out and comes into contact with air it turns red. Of course, this is just a joke.
The blood is always red, but the veins seem blue to us. This is due to the laws of physics about the reflection of light. The tissues of our body absorb the rays of the red spectrum, and reflect the blue. The brain “compares” the color of the vessels with the warm color of the skin and “shows” us the blue color.
Explanation for the child. Our eyes perceive colors differently depending on how the light falls. Through a layer of skin, red appears blue to us.
8.
It is this color that will tell us about health, but other shades make us worry that something has gone wrong in the body. The brown color is obtained because food enters the small intestine from the stomach. And in its upper section – the duodenum – bile enters.
The interaction of bile with food residues, the formation of a special substance stercobilin and gives a brown tint.
Other colors indicate problems in the body. Green – dysbacteriosis or infections, light yellow – problems with the liver, red – may indicate bleeding only if you did not eat beets or tomatoes the day before.
Explanation for a child: poop turns brown because it is colored by a special substance produced by a healthy person’s body. Other colors may mean that the body tells us about ill health and it is worth seeing a doctor.
9.
Faces and excessive smiles, to which already grown up kids may react with bewilderment, why are they? And from an excess of emotions! An adult wants to be closer to the child, to make him laugh, to cause a smile or an infectious laugh.
Therefore, he does everything for this. Sometimes remembering your childhood and having fun from the heart.
10.
This rhetorical question is not just for children.
Quite often such a situation comes from non-compliance with technical issues when laying asphalt.
According to experts, one of the reasons is soil erosion. Where the coating regularly bursts, there are problems underground. But already negligence in relation to communications – leaky water and sewer pipes can lead to soil erosion.
Explanation for the child: if the road fails again, it may mean that the workers made a mistake when laying the asphalt, or somewhere not far underground there are leaky pipes or underground streams that wash out the road.
11.
When explaining the differences between the sexes to a child, formulate your answers according to age, psychologists say. It is worth answering the specific questions of the child, if the baby does not ask about the relationship, he does not need to explain it intrusively. He will ask about it when he is interested.
When talking about physical differences, call a spade a spade, do not hesitate to name the genitals. In general, embarrassment and some special highlighting of this topic serves a disservice, the baby begins to think that he is asking something wrong.

90,000 US educational massacres since 1998. Dossier

Shooting in Florida
TASS-DOSIER. On February 14, 2018, a shooting at the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland (Florida, USA) killed 17 people, and 14 others were hospitalized.
The perpetrator, Nicholas Cruz, turned out to be a former student of the school, he had previously been expelled for violation of discipline.
The TASS-DOSIER editors have prepared a chronology of massacres in US educational institutions. The shooting in Florida was the tenth case in this country in the last 20 years, when five or more people became victims of criminals in schools and universities.
March 24, 1998 Two students at Westside High School near Jonesboro, Arkansas shot and killed four students aged 11-12 and a teacher. The attackers, 13-year-old Mitchell Johnson and Andrew Goulden, gave a false fire alarm and from an ambush opened fire with pistols and rifles at the children who ran out. According to the court’s verdict, both, as minors, received relatively mild sentences: nine and seven years in prison, respectively.
April 20, 1999 at Columbine High School (Jefferson County, Colorado) two students of this school – 18-year-old Eric Harris and 17-year-old Dylan Klebold – shot 13 people and injured 37 others, after which they committed suicide yourself. The tragedy received a wide public outcry and caused a discussion in the United States about tightening control over the spread of firearms.
March 21, 2005 16-year-old Red Lake School student from the Red Lake Indian Reservation of the same name in Minnesota, Jeffrey Wise, shot and killed his grandfather, a police officer and his partner, took possession of his grandfather’s weapon. After that, he arrived at the school, where he killed seven more people and wounded five others. After being wounded in a shootout with arriving law enforcement forces, the offender committed suicide.
On October 2, 2006 , a shooting occurred at a school in the Amish commune (a conservative religious movement in the United States) of West Nickel Mines in Pennsylvania. Milk delivery driver Charles Carl Roberts took hostage 10 students aged 6 to 13 and a teacher. After that, he shot five girls and seriously wounded the rest and committed suicide. The assailant left several suicide notes in which he confessed to earlier rapes of minors.
April 16, 2007 at Virginia Tech, Blacksburg, Virginia, a 23-year-old South Korean student with schizophrenia, Cho Seung-hee, shot and killed 32 people with multiple pistols and wounded 25 others in a dormitory and academic building, after which he committed suicide. Between the murders, the perpetrator sent an open letter and a video manifesto to the NBC News television service, in which he compared himself to Jesus Christ.
February 14, 2008 At Northern Illinois University in DeKalb, Illinois, former University student Steve Kazmierczak opened fire on students and faculty, killing five. After the police arrived, he committed suicide.
April 3, 2012 . At a Christian college in Oakland, California, 43-year-old Korean-American Wan Ko burst into one of the classrooms and opened fire chaotically. As a result, seven immigrants from South Korea, Nepal, the Philippines and Nigeria – six women and one man – died. The attacker surrendered to police in the nearby city of Alameda. In 2015, he was declared insane.
On December 14, 2012 at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Connecticut, 20-year-old Adam Lanza, who had mild autism and was armed with two pistols and a rifle, opened fire. The victims were 20 children aged 5-10 years and six adults. Before going to school, he shot his mother. The perpetrator committed suicide.
On October 1, 2015 , a man opened fire on staff and students in the laboratory building at Umpqua College near Roseburg, Oregon, killing nine people and injuring seven others. The suspect, 26-year-old Chris Harper Mercer, was shot and killed by police officers. According to eyewitnesses, the perpetrator forced some of the students to say who they are by religion, and shot at those who answered that they were Christians.

USAShooting in Florida
What happened in the US almost 20 years ago and how it affected schools . Egor Sennikov explains why such stories are often compared to the shooting at the American Columbine school and what cases of attacks on schools were before and after it.
In April 1999, a terrible tragedy occurred in Colorado, USA. Two high school students Eric Harris and Dylan Klebold went to their Columbine high school and in less than an hour killed 13 people there and injured 24 more. The killers were armed with two sawn-off shotguns, and in addition, they tried to use two pipe bombs to blow up the school cafeteria – but they didn’t succeed. After massacres in the school library and passage through classrooms and classrooms, Harris and Klebold committed suicide.
Eric Harris and Dylan Klebold
The Columbine attack was not the first attack on a school, nor was it even the most massive attack. One of the most famous stories is that of Charles Whitman, a former Marine who killed his wife and mother in August 1966 and then climbed the tower of the University of Texas, shooting at people. He killed 16 people and wounded 32. Whitman himself was killed during his arrest. There were similar stories before and later, but it was the story of the Columbine School that became the most famous.
After the Columbine shooting, people began to talk about gun control, about the level of violence on television and in computer games, about modern popular culture and informal subcultures, about musical groups, about the role of family and school in controlling children. And also about how taking antidepressants affects the minds of teenagers (one of the killers at Columbine took one).
The evacuation of students and school staff from the Columbine school building during the massacre
After Columbine, the legislation on school safety and the circulation of weapons also changed. Some schools in the United States have toughened their attitude towards bullying and violence. The shooting forced the police to develop new techniques. Documentaries and feature films were made about this case. Director Michael Moore in his documentary “Bowling for Columbine” blamed American society and the atmosphere in it for what happened. And Gus Van Sant in “The Elephant” did not blame, in general, anyone and did not name specific reasons – but simply showed a catastrophe.
A still from the film “The Elephant”. The plot loosely follows the events at Columbine School
. But more importantly and more terrifyingly, the shooting at Columbine became the prototype for other similar events. And each of them was compared to a shooting at a Colorado school. Many of those who organized such massacres in schools deliberately referred to the events in Columbine and tried to sound like Harris and Klebold. In general, a scenario of mass murders in schools appeared, which then began to be used by others.
Columbine School West Entrance after Incident
The first imitators appeared after only eight days – in late April 1999, Todd Smith, a student at the Canadian school in Taber, who suffered a lot due to insults at school, came to school with a rifle. One student was wounded, one was killed. The schoolboy was detained and sentenced to three years in prison and seven years of probation. Another month later, there was an attack at the Heritage School in Georgia, when a 15-year-old student tried to shoot his classmates with a rifle and then shoot himself. But in the end, no one died – neither the victim nor the attacker.
After Columbine
In the 18 years since the Columbine shooting, there have been several more school and university massacres in the United States. One of the most high-profile events was the murders at Virginia Tech in April 2007 – student of South Korean origin Cho Seung-hee came to the campus of his university, where he killed 32 people and injured 25. In the end, he committed suicide. He had a mental illness, which was expressed in aggressive behavior.
Virginia Tech students on the run from Cho Seung-hee
Less than a year later, history repeats itself – this time the shooting took place at Northern Illinois University, where former student Steve Kazmierczak shot five people and wounded 18 more. The killer committed suicide shortly after arriving police. As in previous cases, during the investigation, the attacker was found to have mental health problems (the doctor prescribed him antidepressants, which he stopped drinking a few weeks before the attack) and an increased interest in other massacres in educational institutions.
One of the bloodiest tragedies was the shooting at Sandy Hook School in Connecticut in 2012. 20-year-old Adam Lanza first shot his mother, and then went to an elementary school, where he killed 20 children of six or seven years old and six adults, including the headmaster and the school psychologist. After the murder, Lanza committed suicide. As in previous cases, Lanza had mental health problems – at the age of 13 he was diagnosed with Asperger’s syndrome.
Police outside Sandy Hook
For the time being, such events were thought to be American history: most of the massacres in schools in the 20th century took place in educational institutions in the United States. But the story of Columbine thundered all over the world – and crossed the borders of the States.
Not only in the USA
As early as 2002, a massacre took place at the Gutenberg Gymnasium in the German city of Erfurt. In April 2002, her former student Robert Steinhäuser, who had been expelled from school the year before, entered the gymnasium for a false medical certificate. The exclusion put an end to Steinhäuser’s future career and academic prospects, so in this way he decided to take revenge on his offenders. In 20 minutes of shooting, the attacker killed 16 people until he was stopped by a teacher who knew Steinhäuser well. The teacher said that he could shoot him too, but the attacker replied that there were enough killings for today. Shortly thereafter, Steinhäuser committed suicide.
Gymnasium Gutenberg after the attack of
This was not the last such story in modern Germany. Seven years later, similar events took place at a school in the city of Winnenden – there, 17-year-old Tim Kretschmer killed nine schoolchildren, then stole a car, went to the city in the neighborhood, where he shot six more people and shot himself.
Seventeen-year-old Tim Kretschmer killed nine schoolchildren at a school in Germany
Over the past decade and a half, stories of massacres have become, if not commonplace, then a very common phenomenon that can happen in any country. In Europe, there were massacres in schools in Sweden in 2015 (where racial intolerance was largely the cause – the perpetrator chose a school in which about 90% of students were children of migrants), in Finland (several times in 2007, 2008 and 2012), in Estonia in 2014 and in France in 2017. And this is not a complete list.
There were also several in Russia. In February 2014, Sergei Gordeev, a tenth grader from Moscow school No. 263, came to school armed with a rifle and a carbine. He shot a geography teacher, took classmates hostage and tried to explain to them his philosophical views on life – he was most interested in the philosophy of solipsism. When the police arrived at the school, Sergei started shooting at them: he killed one and seriously wounded another.
After several hours of negotiations, in which the murderer’s father also participated, Gordeev surrendered to the authorities. During the investigative examination, he was declared insane and, by a court decision, was sent to compulsory psychiatric treatment. The verdict did not satisfy the defense of the victims, but, nevertheless, it was confirmed by the Supreme Court of Russia.
Sergey Gordeev shot a geography teacher of school No. 263 and a policeman
The motives and reasons that encourage people to take such a step as massacres in schools are different every time.
