About the Provider

Description: The learning philosophy of Loving Heats Learning Place Child Care Ministry is that from birth young children learn best by actively experiencing their world. In their early years children explore their environment with all of their five senses. By using real “hands-on” materials, children make discoveries every day which lay the foundation for later more “academic” learning experiences. They do this through play, which is the child’s preparation for the more abstract learning needed for reading and math. Play is the work of young children, and our classrooms become the laboratories for that work.

I had my children in this “academy” for a total of about 7 months. I absolutely recommend parents look elsewhere for childcare. I work full time and risked getting fired because in one week I had to leave work 3 times to pick up my son because they stated he had a fever. One day they told me it was 103 degrees. I only live 4 miles from the facility, so when I got home and took his temp it was only 99.7, we’ll below 103 and perfectly acceptable to stay at the daycare. But per their “policy”, he could not return next day. I even took him to the dr. and he was fine. Again, this was time I had to take off work and money out of my paycheck. I told the owner and employees that he never had a fever when I checked but they could’ve cared less. Finally when my husband went to drop my other “healthy@ child off the owner stopped him right at the door and said it was already 11 and he couldn’t come. when he called her out about my son not having a fever, she started snapping at him, told him our kids aren’t allowed back ever, and at one point threatened to call the cops. Overall, there’s really nothing “Loving” or “Christian” about this place. The owner I feel is unprofessional and cold, the staff seem lazy, and basically we were lied to. This place uses their “fever” policy I think as a means to just get rid of kids because they aren’t educated or equipped enough to handle the high number of preschoolers who attend.

Union of two loving hearts

Details
Category: People and destinies

On September 30, the 50th anniversary of their life together was celebrated by Viktor Kazimirovich and Valentina Mikhailovna KOVALSKIE, residents of Western Dvina. On this memorable day, guests came to them – the head of the registry office of the administration of the Zapadnodvinsk municipal district Tatyana Koshkina and the editorial staff, whom they were very pleased with.

Tatyana Gennadievna warmly congratulated the spouses on their golden wedding, wished them good health and active longevity. She handed them a congratulatory card from Oksana Golubeva, the head of the district, handed flowers to Valentina Mikhailovna, and a memorable gift to Viktor Kazimirovich, and also offered to put her signatures in the Book of Honorary Anniversaries of the Zapadnodvinsk Municipal District. The spouses, at our request, told about themselves, about the circumstances under which they met, and how their family life proceeded.
Valentina Mikhailovna was born in the village of Morozovo (Sharapovsky rural sector). In the family, besides her, two more brothers were brought up. My father worked on the collective farm in various positions, including chairman and foreman. Mother worked in the fields, raised children.
After graduating from the Morozov elementary school, Valentina, on the good advice of her father, went to the Western Dvina and continued her studies at the city’s eight-year school. At first she lived with relatives, then in a boarding school. She studied at night school, received a diploma of secondary education. In the future, she graduated in absentia in Kalinin, a cultural and educational school, then an institute. She worked as an instructor in the regional department of culture, actively participated in amateur performances, acted as part of an propaganda team.
Victor Kazimirovich was born in Ukraine, in a large urban-type settlement located in the Zhytomyr region. After graduating from an eight-year school, the young man decided to enter the Kharkov Pedagogical-Industrial College in order to get a specialty that was in great demand in the city and in the countryside – an electromechanic. Victor passed the entrance exams well, went home and eagerly waited for the enrollment order. However, it did not follow. It turns out that in that year foreign students who studied on a paid basis were admitted to the technical school, therefore, in order to get free places, two groups of recruited freshmen were disbanded.
Victor, who was among the reduced students, was sent a notification letter from the Kharkov Technical School. It explained that, based on personal wishes, he could be transferred to any related educational institution within the entire Soviet Union. The young man was determined to study, so as not to waste a whole year in vain. And he made his choice in the following way – he attached a school ruler to a large map of the USSR and, with the help of it, determined a new suitable place of study. Such was the “northern” Torzhok, where there was a pedagogical-industrial technical school. There at 1965 and Victor left, however, he began to study in a different specialty – a mechanic.
He had a six-month practice within the walls of our rural vocational school (now Zapadnodvinsk Technological College named after I. A. Kovalev). The intern did a good job. In 1969, having completed his studies in Torzhok, he came to the Western Dvina and began working at a vocational school as a master of industrial training.
Here he became friends with one of his colleagues, who once invited a single comrade to his house to play chess. Just at that time, Valentina lived in a friend’s apartment. And so their acquaintance happened …
– I immediately liked Valentina, – says Viktor Kazimirovich. – Beautiful, fighting, cheerful and sociable, besides, she sings well. So we started dating.
Young people immediately liked each other. Gradually, friendship and mutual sympathy grew into a stronger feeling.
Victor offered Valentina to become his wife and received consent. They signed at the Zapadnodvinsk registry office on September 30, 1972. In December, the couple had a daughter, Oksana.
At the suggestion of the parents of Viktor Kazimirovich, they played a wedding at the beginning of the summer of 1973 in Ukraine.
– A huge shed was made in the yard, where about two hundred people were seated at the tables, – recalls Valentina Mikhailovna. – An orchestra, which included talented local musicians, played with inspiration at the big merry celebration. Beautiful lyrical Ukrainian songs were performed. We were warmly received as the most dear and welcome guests. I was also literally fascinated by the peculiar melodious Ukrainian dialect.
Family life went on as usual, two children were growing up. At 19In the 80th year, Viktor Kazimirovich, on a Komsomol voucher, left for some time for distant and harsh Siberian lands – he participated in the construction of a powerful Boguchanskaya hydroelectric power station on the Angara River.
Valentina Mikhailovna moved to a new responsible job in the district party committee, first she was the secretary of the Zapadnodvinsk organization of the All-Union Society “Knowledge”, then an instructor in the organizational department.
In 1984-1986 VK Kovalsky was on a long business trip – this time in Algeria. A competent specialist and experienced teacher taught at two training centers located in different cities, helping to prepare qualified professional workers, which the African country was in dire need of. Together with her husband, Valentina Mikhailovna also went to Algeria. Only a few times she came to the Western Dvina to visit her children.
The Kowalskis withstood this serious test with honor, supporting each other in difficult times. Of course, it was not easy to get used to the dry hot climate, penetrating sandy winds, and the peculiar way of life of the locals.
In Algeria, literally at every step one could come face to face with extremely dangerous “strangers”. One day, Viktor Kazimirovich went to fish in a pond located near the training center of the city of Barika (located in the southern part of Algeria). Acquaintances tried to dissuade him from this risky trip in every possible way, but the avid fisherman did not change his mind and set off. Fishing went quite well. The hot sun was rapidly setting, so it was necessary to have time to return home before dark. Moving along the road, V.K. Kovalsky drew attention to some strange object, similar to a thick rope, which he did not see here when he went fishing. The curious wanderer came back, and coming as close as possible to an interesting object, he found that the “rope” was moving and in fact was a huge boa constrictor. From fright and shock, Viktor Kazimirovich briskly jumped back to a safe distance, and, driven by fear, quickly ran towards the house. It was then that he realized why he was not advised to go fishing.

VM Kovalskaya for a long time, from 1992 to 2006, worked as the director of the Zapadnodvinsk Library. She worked fruitfully on the cultural “front”. In particular, on her initiative, the Club of Interesting Meetings (KIV) was created, which still operates today.
VK Kovalsky still worked in his native educational institution, he was always in good standing.
Now the couple are on a well-deserved rest, but, by their own admission, they cannot sit idle. For example, in the summer-autumn season they go to the village of Morozovo, where the parental home is located. Today, thanks to their tireless labors, a rich harvest has been grown.
Valentina Mikhailovna and Viktor Kazimirovich have two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. By personal admission, the main secret of their family happiness is that they managed to keep the warmth and sincerity of their feelings and have been living in mutual love, peace and harmony for half a century. They are grateful to fate for bringing them together one day. The Kowalskis are certainly a worthy example for young families.

Preschool Mission Statement

“The CFUMC Preschool aims to promote age appropriate learning through the “The Creative Curriculum For Preschool” and to provide an atmosphere of love and acceptance in which each child can develop socially, emotionally, physically, spiritually, and intellectually in a Christian environment.

______________________

The Creative Curriculum for Preschool, 4th Edition

To provide our children with the most developmentally appropriate learning experience, we have adopted a dual approach to curriculum. Our teachers will utilize both the Creative Curriculum for Preschool and a thematic approach to lesson planning. The teacher creates an atmosphere in which children are safe, feel emotionally secure, and have a sense of belonging. The curriculum includes areas of interests such as: blocks, dramatic play, toys and games, art, library, discovery/science, sensory bins, music and movement, and outdoor play. The students’ experiences in these centers aid their understanding of how concepts learned in school apply to the world in which they live. Additionally, our school will be organized by monthly themes that provide the backdrop for both classroom and chapel experiences. Each monthly theme incorporates the idea that God gives us special gifts, and this concept is applied throughout the children’s daily activities. Our PreK4 classrooms are based around the Georgia Department of Early Care and Learning’s Bright from the Start Curriculum and Georgia Standards of Excellence. All content standards are available on the DECAL website at www.decal.ga.gov.

Specials: Music, Art, Spanish, Creative Movement

We are happy to offer music and art as specials to all classes. Additionally, we will offer Spanish and Creative Movement to our 4- and 5-day classes. Our curriculum is planned with the State of Georgia CCGPS Standards for Kindergarten as a guidance tool. In preparation for big kid school, we will explore the elements of art, explore with media, and offer your child the opportunity to express themselves. Your children will have the opportunity to interact as they learn social skills, music and art fundamentals, language development, problem solving skills, small and large motor skills, and most of all…that God loves them, and He made them very special!

Chapel

As a Christian preschool, we feel that it is especially important that children understand God’s role in their daily lives. Students in our three and four-year-old classes will attend chapel each week in the CFUMC Sanctuary. Chapel is coordinated with the Director of Family Ministry and conducted by our Chapel teacher.

Special Territory | Centralized library system of the Avtozavodsky district of Nizhny Novgorod

Chestnova, I. Special territory: [on the presentation of the book by Yu. Bogachev “Under the city of Gorky. American village and its inhabitants”] // Avtozavodets. – 2019. – May 2 (No. 18). – P. 14.

The book “Under the city of Gor kim. The American Village and Its Inhabitants. The author of the memoirs is a former employee Gor kovskogo automobile plant and a resident of the disappeared village Yuriy Bo gachev.

– The American theme stands apart in the history of GAZ, it is very interesting and practically unexplored. And then there was a man who undertook to tell about the people who played a certain role in the history of our plant. Thank you for this,” Natalya Kolesnikova, director of the GAZ History Museum, thanked the author.

To successfully solve the problems of the country’s industrialization in the 30s of the last century, the Soviet leadership actively attracted foreign specialists. Experienced foreigners were supposed to help organize new production, launch imported equipment and teach Soviet workers, yesterday’s natives of the villages, to work on it.

– The beginning of the construction of the auto giant coincided with the Great Depression in America, and then throughout the world, – says Yu. Bogachev. – Saving themselves and their families, many dared to come to unknown Russia to earn money. Others were driven to a foreign land by communist beliefs. Part of the migrants remained in their new homeland, taking citizenship of the Land of Soviets.

From distant America, the builders of a new life first sailed across the ocean to Europe, and from there, for example, from the French Cherbourg, they reached Nizhny by rail.

“The volume of labor migration was huge,” says Yu. Bogachev, the author of the book. – According to some reports, 10,000 people were recruited in the United States, that is, approximately one in ten who wished. To transport this colossal mass of people, the marine passenger fleet was used. The contractors were transported, in particular, on transatlantic liners: the Olympic, the twin of the infamous Titanic, and the Leviathan.

In Nizhny Novgorod, foreign car factories lived separately and comfortably. Near the oak manes on the banks of the Oka and the village of Karpovka, a separate residential complex was built for them, called the “American Village”. People of different nationalities lived there, who in different years emigrated to the North American United States. Germans, Hungarians, French, Italians, Czechs came to Nizhny, but, perhaps, most of all there were Finns.

– Until 1917, Finland was part of the Russian Empire. On the eve of the First World War, many Finns emigrated to America. Perhaps someone did not want to go to the front as part of the Finnish regiments of the tsarist army, someone left in search of a better life. But during the economic crisis of 1929, they returned either to Finland, which became an independent state after the revolution, or to the USSR, where they were promised a profitable and stable job for several years, explains Yu. Bogachev.

A multi-ethnic community of foreigners settled in American Village. Its main building was carried out in 1930 and 1931.

– Housing was built according to Western standards, – continues Yuri Bogachev. – The economical frame technology made it possible to build a house in just 3 months. Moreover, the main part of the materials and even plumbing was brought from overseas. For example, pressed reed mats measuring 1.5×3 meters and 20 cm thick. Walls, floors and ceilings were insulated with this durable natural material.

Apartments for foreigners had cold and hot water, centralized sewerage and electricity.

– Russian workers had to live in barracks, while foreigners took a warm bath in two-meter enamel bowls, – says Yu. Bogachev. – And this is in the 30s of the last century! They did not experience everyday problems and difficulties with food and worked with full dedication in production. American pragmatism in action.

Managers of the Austin architectural and construction company, which designed the workshops and buildings of GAZ, as well as the first houses of Sotsgorod, lived in semi-detached cottages, mid-level specialists lived in more modest two-story apartment buildings and communal houses. Bachelors settled on the second floor of the American club building. At 19In 1943 it was completely destroyed by a fascist bomb.

At the American cult base during the Great Patriotic War there were crews of an anti-aircraft regiment, covering the GAZ from Nazi air raids.

Over the years, such famous people as the former president of Czechoslovakia Alexander Dubcek, GAZ director Sergey Dyakonov and the company’s chief designer Andrey Lipgart lived in the American Village. A laundry, a club, a kindergarten, shops, a bathhouse, a hairdresser, a post-telegraph office, a savings bank, a hotel, a canteen, school No. 4 (later No. 59) functioned here.). The two-story wooden educational institution accepted the first students in 1932.

“Eight years ago I met my classmates, graduates of 1961, who shared with me photos from home albums,” Yu. Bogachev recalls. – This was the beginning of the collection of materials for the future book. A separate chapter is dedicated to our native, formerly “international” school and our wonderful teachers. With perseverance, I managed to identify the names of all the teachers of our time and create a photo gallery of their faces. This is my thanks and gratitude to them. In the lessons with my classmate Volodya Volkov, we enthusiastically “overfulfilled” the plan for solving mathematical problems, which after graduation allowed me to easily enter the radio technical school. We owe our dear teacher Nina Andreevna Telnova an excellent knowledge of mathematics. And the fact that I can easily distinguish English from American pronunciation is the merit of my teacher Stella Ivanovna Salmi. This extraordinary woman came to Nizhny Novgorod with her parents from America at the age of thirteen. I was lucky to live in a communal apartment next door to her family.

The kids didn’t get bored even after school. What they didn’t do. For example, a group of several boys managed to swim across the Oka, having previously calculated whether the Rocket was coming from Pavlov. Someone climbed to the top of the right bank to eat cherries in local gardens. In winter, they went skiing to the other side of the Oka, to the famous Divan. We had fun at the cultural base and on the banks of the Oka and Tekuchka. It was an interesting time.

Having moved to Russia, foreigners tried not to forget their national traditions. The Avtogiant newspaper, as Avtozavodets was then called, regularly printed special pages in English for them.

“The newcomers were deeply religious people, some Lutherans, some Methodists,” Yu. Bogachev recalls. – They held services in their American secular club, since the doors to Orthodox churches were closed to adherents of their faith. In the summer, Western engineers liked to have picnics with fun games and go boating on the Oka. Santa Clauses walked around the American Village 90 years ago, and we learned about Halloween before many. Among the favorite sports activities of foreigners are tennis, baseball and basketball. Musical evenings were held in the club to the accompaniment of an independent theatrical jazz orchestra. Unfortunately, at the end of 19In the 1930s, all this was considered bourgeois relics and forgotten for a long time.

Labor migrants were able to find their place in the GAZ team. Most of them, along with Russian specialists, were the first mentors of young workers who did not have any qualifications. It is sad that for many, life in Russia turned into a tragedy.

“They came to a distant, incomprehensible country to help build a new life, but they fell under the moloch of repression,” says Yu. Bogachev. – Yesterday’s friends were sometimes arrested on ridiculous denunciations and they were given a very severe and often unjustified punishment.

The fate of the Finnish families Järvinen and Salmi has been dramatic. Their daughters Daisy and Stella were friends. The stories of these families are described in the memoirs of Marja Heinonen and Petr Salmi.

– I am not a local historian or a historian, I just wanted to tell you about the people about whom I have the best memories. They have done so much for our factory! – Yury Bogachev sums up the meeting.

Weekly “Arguments and Facts” No. 18. There are places in Russia where prices… do not grow 01/05/2013

Almost all immigrants from the Middle East and Turkey live in the country according to their own laws. Photo by George Zotov

– From the very beginning, we had not enough parishioners. Further – only worse, every year they became less and less. When, after a prayer, a dish for donations was thrown in a circle, only a couple of euros worth of small things were collected . .. As if in mockery, people often put sweets and candies. “God will help you…” Alas, not in everything. You have to pay land tax for the premises, connect gas for heating in winter, and hire cleaners in summer. We are completely mired in debt, it was decided to sell the building. But I didn’t suspect that they would buy the church in order to later turn it into a mosque …

Pastor Thomas Leuven from the Lutheran Church of Capernaum in Hamburg does not hide his grief. As he says, the temple was purchased by a certain company, promising to build a kindergarten there. But she did not keep her word – after 5 years she resold the building to the Nur Islamic Center, which unites immigrants from North Africa. Now renovations are in full swing inside: the church is being converted into a mosque, and the 44-meter bell tower into a minaret. Father Thomas makes a sad gesture and admits that the Germans seem to have become disillusioned with Christianity. “I don’t know what’s the matter. Maybe the people are more concerned about where to get money in a crisis, or they are tortured by scandals with monks about pedophilia … I have no idea. Even 30 years ago, churches on Sunday were packed with parishioners. Now only lonely old ladies and bored pastors are sitting there.” From 1990 in Germany stopped the activity of 500 (!) Christian churches – Catholic, Lutheran and Methodist, in the city of Essen alone a quarter of all churches were closed. Islam, on the contrary, is rapidly gaining momentum: Muslims are very willing to buy the buildings of the former cathedrals.

Kapernaumkirche – Lutheran church in Hamburg, which is being converted into a mosque. Photo by Georgy Zotov

To the right of the minaret

There is pandemonium in Steindamm Street (next to Hamburg’s main train station) on Friday. First thought: “Is this really Germany?” Many shops and cafes with Arabic script, women in a veil with a closed face, men in long robes, African women in colorful capes. Merchants loudly praise their goods – baklava and tea. Feeling like I’m in Iraq or Egypt. I ask in German how to get to the mosque, but they don’t understand me. I ask in Arabic. They take you to the passage and point to the minaret: “Over there, on the right.” 200 thousand immigrants from Islamic countries settled in Hamburg, and this is still not enough: in Duisburg, every fifth inhabitant is a Turk or an Arab. In March, the Central Council of Muslims of Germany demanded that the authorities make Ramadan a holiday, equating it with Christmas. The government refused.

– Personally, I do not see any particular difficulties here, – theologian from Pakistan Amir Dostumi assures me. – Imagine if the church was turned into a warehouse of vegetables or a sex shop. It is better? No, I understand everything – such things are probably unpleasant for Christians. But if they are such good believers, then why did they leave the temple to the mercy of fate? Muslims have nowhere to pray – we gather in apartments, garages, almost in basements. Buying a ready-made room for a cult is cheaper than building from scratch …

“We love Germany”

The case in Hamburg is not an isolated one. In recent years, the conversion of churches into mosques has become commonplace in Germany: Islamic communities have acquired the buildings of former Christian churches in Berlin, Düsseldorf and Cologne. “The appearance of the church, if it has historical value, is forbidden to be corrected,” the Central Council of Muslims of Germany explained to me. “In this case, we will simply replace the crosses with crescents and, if necessary, we will build a minaret nearby.” In Duisburg, Turkish immigrants said they were ready to buy the Peter and Paul Catholic Church, since it had already gone bankrupt for a year. After that, local Christians hastily announced a fundraiser, and services soon resumed in the church. The imam of the main mosque in Duisburg was not embarrassed by this – he expressed the hope that soon ALL the empty Christian churches in the city would become the property of Muslims. The “conversion” of churches into mosques prompted a flurry of press articles and furious comments from usually phlegmatic German politicians and priests. Bishop Hans-Jochen Jaschke spoke harshly of all: “This is not an example of the peaceful existence of two cultures, but the direct absorption of Christianity by Islam.”

– Personally, I haven’t been to church for a long time, – confesses journalist Moritz Stieber . – Young people completely ignore faith – Christmas is perceived as a day off and an occasion to have a good drink. It would seem, why worry? Immigrant Muslims make up only 5% of the German population… However, since 1980 their number has increased 10 times! The Germans hardly have children, the population is rapidly aging. And this means that Germany is turning into a country of pensioners. There is no one to work – we will be forced to invite more guest workers from poor countries. But immigrants do not become Germans, as we dreamed. Even Merkel admitted that the program of multiculturalism had failed. Rather, they will try to make us Turks by imposing their own rules in Germany. There will only be more churches under the crescent moon.

…I walk out of the mosque, wrapping my jacket around – an icy wind is blowing. “Salam alaikum,” a group of swarthy young people greet me. “Aleikum salam,” I answer and ask in Arabic: “Do you like living here?” “Yes,” the black-haired boy nods. We love Germanistan! The rest laugh together… The current situation in Germany is a good example for Russia. We have no difficulties with our Muslims: we have been living as good neighbors for hundreds of years. But there are problems with millions of illegal immigrants from the republics of the former USSR. Of course, the Russian economy also cannot live without guest workers. However, immigration controls must be extremely strict. Otherwise, it will turn out that the hosts will be required to live according to the rules of the guests, as is already happening in Germany .

St. Paul’s area | Church of St. Nicholas the Wonderworker Vyselki

Posted on 08/06/2017 hsnv2008 | Comments Off on St. Paul’s District

Getting to know the churches of the Pavlovsky deanery, the central village of which is named after the supreme apostle

– Father! – the boy joyfully shouts to Father Vitaly, leaning against the fence that separates the kindergarten from the Holy Dormition Church of the village of Pavlovskaya. nine0011

Priest Vitaly Petruk, rector of the church in honor of the Holy Great Martyr George the Victorious st. Novobeisugskaya, together with believers of three parishes: St. Nicholas (v. Vyselki), St. Ilyinsky (v. Beysuzhek II) and St. George (v. Novobeisugekaya) – walks along the territory adjacent to the temple.

– Ba-tu-shka-ah! – continues to warmly greet the man in the cassock of a boy. It is felt that he often meets priests on his way and they are held in high esteem by him.

The jubilant exclamation of the boy, who saw the Orthodox clergyman, is joined by the voice of the girl. nine0011

– Father!!!

This is one of the episodes of the Vyselkovtsy’s stay in the Pavlovsk deanery. The pilgrims also received the blessing of the ruling bishop, Bishop Tikhoretsky and Korenovsky Stefan.

REFERENCE

The Pavlovsky deanery of the Tikhoretsk diocese occupies the area of the Pavlovsky district of the Krasnodar Territory. There are 13 Orthodox parishes in the deanery. Priests spiritually nourish the believers, are actively engaged in educational, social, enlightenment work in parishes and institutions and organizations of the region. nine0136

Two shrines

At one time (in the early 90s) the church in honor of the Assumption of the Mother of God st. Pavlovskaya was one of the largest churches under construction in southern Russia. Its construction lasted almost 20 years.

The height of the temple from the foundation to the domed cross of the bell tower is 47 meters. The neighborhood is filled with 13 bells, the largest of which weighs more than a ton (1350 kg). And the temple itself, according to our guide, the regular priest of the church, Hieromonk Alexy (Yuzbashyan), can accommodate three thousand people. nine0011

The construction of the Holy Dormition Church was completed in the early 2010s by the current ruling bishop, Bishop Stefan of Tikhoretsky and Korenovsky (abbot at the time). Op was appointed ward leader in 2007. Vladyka is still the rector of the stanitsa church.

The pilgrims were lucky to receive the blessing of their archpastor, who was in the temple at the time of the group’s arrival. Bishop Stefan greeted the parishioners of the Vyselkovsky deanery and wished God’s help in their journey. nine0011

The appearance in the church of one of the two significant shrines of the parish – the ark with the relics of the Kiev-Pechersk saints is connected with Vladyka. The archpastor studied at the Kyiv Theological Academy and asked the monastery for the incorruptible remains of all the monks of the Kiev-Pechersk Monastery glorified in the guise of saints for the Kuban church. The relics are open for free worship, and every Thursday an akathist to the venerable fathers is read in the church.

The second local shrine is the Tikhvin Icon of the Mother of God from one of the old Pavlovian churches destroyed during the Soviet years. She is highly respected by her parishioners. “It has been noticed that after prayers at the icon, believers receive what they asked for,” said Hieromonk Alexy. – For example, the mother of one of our parishioners for a long time turned to the Lord God and the Most Holy Theotokos about the healing of her daughter. And a miracle happened. nine0011

By the way, the walls of the temple are decorated with many modern icons. They are ordered and donated to the church by stanitsa-philanthropists.

Be with Christ

The Vyselkovskaya delegation also visited the church of the Holy Apostles Peter and Paul in the village of Pavlovskaya.

The building traces its history back to 1974, when the Holy Dormition Prayer House was built by believers. In 1992, the construction of a new Holy Assumption Church began, and the old one in 2007, by decree of Metropolitan Isidor of Ekaterinodar and Kuban, was renamed the Church of the Holy Apostles Peter and Paul. The following year, it was overhauled and the iconostasis was reconstructed. nine0011

The pilgrims venerated the shrines of St. Paul’s churches, lit candles, and under the guidance of Fr. Vitaly, they sang troparia for Orthodox saints and Christian holidays. During the whole trip, the priest led spiritual conversations with the faithful, enlightening them in matters of church architecture, iconography, and spiritual life.

– According to tradition, Jesus Christ died at Adam’s grave, washing away his original sin with His blood. The skull and bones at the base of the cross just symbolize the relics of the first man, – said the priest in the Peter and Paul Church, pointing to the crucifix. – Just think, we are standing near Christ crucified, but according to our sins this should be our place. Christ says, “No, I will be on the cross.” If we are Christ’s disciples, His followers, we must follow Him, endure as He endured, fast as He fasted. I think that if we see Christ crucified in front of us, we will not want meat for fasting, nor condemn someone, nor earthly honors and other things. How can we indulge in vice when the Son of God suffers for our sins!? This is the goal of the life of a true Christian – to be with Christ. To be with Him both in the grief of the crucifixion and in the joy of the resurrection. nine0011

Preacher of the Church

The trip ended with a joint photo of the pilgrims at the monument to the Apostle Paul, erected in the stanitsa square in 2015.

The Holy Apostle is depicted on the flag and coat of arms of the Pavlovsk region. His name in 1827 gave the name to the main settlement of the municipality – the village of Pavlovskaya.

The Apostle Paul teaches us a lot, said Bishop Stefan at the opening ceremony of the monument. nine0011

– He teaches us that without faith in Jesus Christ, salvation is impossible. The apostle Paul paid with his life for his faith in Christ as Savior and God. He revealed to all of us the mystery of salvation in Christ—salvation in the Church,” Vladyka emphasized and explained. – Salvation is impossible without the Church, since the Church is the Body of Christ. The Church is a community of people united by a common faith and sacraments. And believers are the cells of the Lord Jesus Christ, one organism with Him.

In his epistles, the apostle Paul also discusses communication between people. nine0011

– St. Paul teaches us the main thing: these relationships should be connected with mercy, philanthropy, humility, all those qualities that lead to goodness, love for each other, Bishop Stefan recalled a simple recipe for peace and harmony.

  • We are lucky: “Consent” is the first kindergarten our child went to when he was two years old. The educators in “Consent” are amazing, so on the third day the child was left until the evening. Two weeks later, they were able to do something that we hadn’t been able to do for a long time – weaned them from diapers. And we were surprised to “learn” that our little baby loves meatballs. We like that in addition to comfortable conditions and interesting activities in “Consent” there are qualified specialists in various fields. For example, at one time a psychologist gave us good advice, and after a while our child spoke. And yet, for these 3.5 years that we have been in “Consent”, our child has never been sick – for us this is an indicator.

  • A HUGE THANK YOU to the teachers and nannies of the kindergarten “Consent”! And it is good because our children are loved, surrounded by care and affection. Thank you so much for the ability to organize their day in a fun, interesting way; while maintaining discipline and order. We really appreciate that you do not just spend your days with them, you are engaged in them, you live with them! You always have a smile on your face and it’s so nice to come to your group, just like on a holiday!

  • I would like to say that the kindergarten is wonderful, everything is organized very thoughtfully, the staff is amazing, loving children, this applies to absolutely all people working in the garden “Consent” . They love kids very much.
We visited three kindergartens, and the attitude towards children in this kindergarten differs significantly from the other two we visited. The food is always fresh. There is enough space for all the kids. Separate bedrooms. There is an air purifier with a quartz function, I consider this a huge plus, since it is simply impossible to wash every toy in the playroom. Game big, bright. The walking area is fenced, there is no access for cars. The entrance to the garden is a separate porch.
Developmental classes are held daily with children, a psychologist, speech therapist and other specialists come. Holidays are often organized, artists come. My child likes everything, and for me this is the most important thing. The price may be higher than in other kindergartens, but it’s worth it. Special thanks to the head of this kindergarten, Natalya Vladimirovna, for her good attitude, friendliness, responsiveness and individual approach to each child.

  • A month later, my son has his first graduation – graduation in the kindergarten “Consent”. He has attended this kindergarten since the age of two.
Thanks to the atmosphere created by the head of the branch, Lyubov Mikhailovna, this is literally a second home for my son. Almost 5 years ago, I was looking for a kindergarten and wanted to be sure of the safety of my child, his comfort, that he would be surrounded by professional and caring teachers. I turned to my friends and many of them recommended “Consent” to me, the children of my friends are finishing school, and once they attended this kindergarten.
Having listened to the recommendations, we decided that our son would also go to this kindergarten and were not at all disappointed! In the kindergarten, a good team of educators and teachers has been working in Harmony for many years, the son is perfectly prepared for school, detailed information is provided from each teacher about all his successes. A wonderful cook – even my “little one” is always fed. Responsible medical worker – children are examined every morning. The speech therapist did what the doctors told us about: “it’s impossible yet” – she put all the sounds on our child, thanks to her he has a clear pronunciation. Our teacher Olga Andreevna found an approach to her son, when we are on vacation he misses her and always happily goes to kindergarten.
Only a few months are left for my child to attend kindergarten, and we are already a little sad before the future separation.
Thank you very much to the kindergarten “Consent”! I wish for many more years to be the standard of a preschool institution, just like now!

  • We have been together with the Soglasie kindergarten for 3 years. Every morning, during this time, my child happily hurries to kindergarten. Anya knows that she is waiting for a cozy, homely atmosphere, smiling and kind employees, interesting activities, new knowledge, exciting games, communication with her beloved friends, and, of course, a beloved teacher.
As a mother, I am absolutely calm about my daughter while she is in the kindergarten. The child is fed tasty and healthy, the territory of the kindergarten is closed from transport and from strangers, the playground is well equipped, all conditions have been created for the intrapersonal, mental and physical development of children. All employees of the kindergarten are not only highly qualified and experienced specialists, but also kind and pleasant people in communication. It can be seen that employees do not just perform their job duties, but put their souls into the upbringing and development of children. There is an individual approach to each child.
I am glad that there is a wonderful medical worker Valentina Vasilievna, a sensitive child psychologist Alena Nikolaevna, who are ready to immediately come to the rescue in case of emergency. I really liked the open lesson in English with Natalia Aleksandrovna.
It’s nice that there are additional services, such as massage, for example, classes in legoconstruction, holding children’s photo shoots.
Very impressive matinees in the kindergarten “Consent”. It is always very touching, children prepare, recite poems, dance, sing, participate in performances. The work and efforts of teachers and children are obvious. After such holidays, vivid impressions, positive emotions and pleasant memories remain.
Our family is very grateful to Barilo Olga Andreevna for her attentive and kind attitude towards Anya, for her significant contribution to the upbringing of the child and for her wise advice to parents!
Olga Andreevna is always in touch and very promptly reports in case of poor health of my daughter, which is very important for me.
Special thanks to Alekseeva Lyubov Mikhailovna for her loyal and reverent attitude towards her parents. All our wishes and requests are taken into account, Lyubov Mikhailovna always goes forward and is ready to solve any issue in the best possible way and in the shortest possible time.
I express my absolute agreement with the concept and idea of the kindergarten, with the development and upbringing of my child within the walls of the kindergarten “Consent”!
Many thanks to all the staff and administration of our beloved kindergarten!

  • Many thanks to you and all the staff of the “Consent” kindergarten for your reverent attitude towards children.
I am very satisfied with the staff, training programs. That is why I brought my second child to this kindergarten too!

  • I want to tell you about our garden “Consent”. Firstly, what I would like to note is the remoteness from the city, fresh and clean air. Secondly, a kind and sincere attitude towards the child, a homely, warm atmosphere in the garden.
It’s nice to see your child hugging his caregiver every morning.
Almost every month there are some holidays with invited actors, animators, they take them on excursions to the zoo, museums. On the street, teachers organize the Seeing of Spring, Maslenitsa, summer sports holidays, fun starts with prizes and medals.
The groups are very clean, everything is in order. Toys are good and modern. Children walk a lot, for a walk in hot weather they take out water to drink in a kettle and each child has his own glass. Teachers always dress appropriately for the weather.
She brought several things and was always calm that the child would not freeze or sweat.
The teachers are good, attentive, they look after the children. Conduct interesting music and creative classes. Children themselves make crafts, do drawing, and work with parents is also carried out (joint crafts, etc.).
I would like to mention our teacher Veronika Georgievna! With her appearance, my child became more independent, learned a lot of poems. It can be seen that the kindergarten is not just looking after the children, but their education! I would also like to say a huge thank you to the psychologist Lyubov Alexandrovna, thanks to whom I found mutual understanding with my child during the crisis period. She taught me to be the right mother and not just listen, but hear the child.
With her help, the child overcame many complexes and fears.
Just a big thank you to everyone for your work, your open heart and warmth!

    Ksenia Lopatina

Accountant in a large construction company

  • My little son started attending the kindergarten “Consent” at the age of 1 year 1 month! Now we are 5!
And we made a decision, despite the change of residence, not to change the kindergarten!
We associated the procedure of getting used to kindergarten with tantrums, the child’s unwillingness to go to kindergarten, to be left without a mother, the sad mood of parents in the morning ….
What was our surprise and relief when in the morning the child said “mom bye” and happily ran away to the group!!!
The atmosphere in the kindergarten is very soft and calm, friendly staff, a high level of organization of the process of staying and teaching children. The development of children is comprehensive, high-quality, using modern techniques. In the process of playing, communicating, on positive emotions, children learn about the world, learn foreign languages, draw, sculpt, etc.
I would like to note, perhaps, one of the main criteria for parents in choosing a kindergarten is safety: the premises are equipped with all kinds of equipment, selected so that when handling it, the risk of harm to the child is minimized. Children are always under the supervision of educators and a nanny – no matter what time we come, children are not alone, “left to themselves.”
Many thanks to the cook – in the kindergarten the problem of all mothers of the world “to feed the child” is solved! In our kindergarten, the child eats all the dishes and completely. Came early one day and watched the kids line up for more!
A very important factor is an individual approach to the child, this is expressed both in the learning process, and in the process of the child’s stay, and in terms of individual nutrition (for example, in case of allergies to certain products).
The institution has organized a system of “round tables” and open classes, which allows parents to “be in the know” of such a busy life of their children and, if necessary, always get advice and recommendations from educators.
Our educators, nannies, teachers, manager, cook are so friendly to children and to each other that it creates a cozy home environment for the child and the opportunity to explore the world in an atmosphere of kindness and respect.
Well, if some minor issues arise in our daily “kindergarten” life, we always find compromise solutions …. Our gratitude knows no bounds! Thank you so much for caring about our children! For the fact that you selflessly, honestly, conscientiously and patiently accept our children day after day, work with them and provide them with all the conditions for their comprehensive and complete development, and also allow us, very busy parents, to work calmly with a sense of confidence for our children ! I think that our kindergarten could be called “Trust”: we put into your hands the most valuable thing in our life – our children!

    Maksimova Alexandra Alekseevna

Deputy Head of the Department of Energy Supply Contracts
    UMMC-Holding LLC

  • From the bottom of my heart I want to express my deep gratitude to the staff of the branch of the kindergarten “Consent” on the street. Y. Fuchik 3., and especially to the teacher – Valentina Grigorievna and the head – Oksana Ivanovna for professionalism, creativity and great love for children. My son is 3 years old and this is the first kindergarten we started attending.
From the first day my child began to go to kindergarten in a good mood, we saw that they were waiting for us, they greeted us with a smile, they always asked how they were doing, how they were doing, what was new.
I can say that the educator – teacher Valentina Grigoryevna builds relationships with children and their parents so sensitively and subtly that we did not have a period of “adaptation” as such. Moreover, the children in the group treat each other very politely, affably, they learn to defend their point of view through dialogue, a quote from my son: “Mom, the power is in the word!” and this is the special merit of our teacher – Valentina Grigorievna.
I will say a few words about the material and technical equipment of the group – a lot of toys, ranging from cars and dolls to development centers and teaching aids. Subject teachers work with children every day, they conduct classes of both cognitive and creative nature. My child likes these activities, and by the way his horizons have expanded, I dare to conclude that these activities are useful.
This kindergarten has all the conditions for the harmonious development of the child: attentive and highly professional educators, the head, and of course gratitude to the medical worker, cook and educator assistants. We visit this kindergarten with great desire and appreciate and cherish the attitude of teachers to our son.

  • We have been choosing a place for our baby for a very long time!
Everything that is important for us is here: a separate building, clean air, a swimming pool, quality food. And this year, as soon as we thought about English and chess, they immediately appeared on the schedule. THANKS A LOT!!!

    Maria Ivanova

  • Wonderful kindergarten! They started walking at the age of 1.4 and, despite their age, they adapted very quickly, the child goes to the garden with pleasure and leaves in a great mood in the evening. The teachers are attentive, excellent and varied food, many specialists and an individual approach to any issues. We are very satisfied and consider this kindergarten the best in the city!

    Yesenia Zemlyanskaya’s parents

  • My Luka is 2 years and 9 months old. He went to the kindergarten “Consent” on Gagarin 33 when he was 1 year and 3 months old.
Everyone understands that this is just a baby.
The choice of the kindergarten was thorough and long, as the son (like everyone else) is the most beloved and the best. As a result, a friend “Consent” advised. We came to see, Margarita Temirbulatovna created a trusting atmosphere, listened to and reassured me, met Luka. We made the choice and have never regretted it. I, as a mother, can say one thing, that I am calm for my child when he is in kindergarten. Luka goes to kindergarten with joy. A lot of interesting activities (dance, song, theater) our teachers spend with the guys. The children in the kindergarten are all friendly. Educators know each child, and find an approach to each (this is important!!!). Svetlana Vladimirovna (a teacher in our group) knows how to direct the child in the right direction, gives each child caress and attention, makes a remark on the case. It is important for me that our educators give advice to us parents when we really do not know what to do.
And they listen to every mother who worries about her baby.
Thank you, CHDOU DOC Consent, for having you with me!

Whiskey Highland Park (Highland Park): features of production, an extensive line of brand

Such a wide range of whiskey as Highland Park, probably no other brand. But this is exclusively a single molty of different exposure. And each drink has its own unique blend. Not only the taste of Highland Park whiskey deserves attention, but also its original design. Let’s take a closer look at the brand line.

History of the brand

The origin of Highland Park whiskey cannot be called “noble”. At the origins is the enterprising Magnus Eunson – the church watchman. During the day, he was engaged in his direct duties, and at night he illegally “drew” spirits in order to sell whiskey later. By the way, one of the brand’s enterprises stands on the very spot where Magnus Eunson’s shack once was located, which he turned into an alcohol workshop. The businessman managed to escape punishment many times for illegal production of whiskey. nine0003

Magnus Eunson has been producing and selling alcohol since the end of the 18th century. But in 1813 he was nevertheless arrested for tax evasion. And this is a mystery shrouded in darkness. There are legends that the entrepreneur never went to prison, but disappeared without a trace.

All the property of Magnus Eunson went to other people. Moreover, one of them is officer John Robertson, who took the underground worker under arrest. Together with his friend businessman Robert Pringle, he began to develop the business started by Magnus Eunson. Business became legal. nine0003

In 1826 the business was taken over by Robert Borwick. It was then that the brand was named “Highland Park”.

Produced tapes quickly won the trust of consumers. Drinks were valued for the high quality of raw materials and the unsurpassed taste of the finished product. Scotch brand began to use other companies as the basis for their blends.

For a long time the brand has been on the market, one owner of the company replaced another. But this did not affect the quality of drinks. On the contrary, each brought something new to the tradition and actively expanded the product line. nine0003

Types of whiskey Highland Park

The brand has its own developments in production, which make Scotch whiskey different from others.

For example, the company dries the malt coming from suppliers within the walls of its enterprise. Moreover, peat for these purposes is used exclusively local – collected on the heather-covered shores of Scotland. The malt itself is dried according to ancient technologies without the use of automated ovens. Despite the fact that the technique is outdated and requires a lot of labor, the company is not going to change the centuries-old traditions. nine0003

There are about 50 single malts in the Highland Park line. The average strength varies in the range of 40-50% vol. Color – from rich gold to dark amber, depending on the exposure time. Each of the Highland Park contains shades of peat smoke, nuts, heather and vanilla – a kind of hallmark of the brand. In general, reviews of the brand’s adhesive tapes are extremely positive. Especially for aged varieties. This is perfect for those who want to try the “real” Scotch with a smoky bouquet. nine0003

Almost all single molts from the brand are “packed” in stylish bottles with embossed ornaments on the glass and laconic labels. They did a great job on the design. Some pieces from the entire line are connected with the Viking theme – both in design and in name. This is a reference to the past of the island of Orkney, which used to be a Viking kingdom, and is now part of Scotland. The brand actively uses the theme of Vikings and Scandinavian myths in its marketing strategy. nine0003

Highland Park’s base line includes a whole collection of premium long-aged whiskeys – 10 years, 12 years, 18 years, 21 years and 25 years. The brand recommends tasting scotch in its pure form, without diluting it with anything, so that the charm of the single malt with its smoky-fruity notes in the taste and floral-nutty motifs in the aroma is not lost. The flagship of the entire line is the 12-year-old Highland Park. It is also called the “heart and soul” of the brand. The perfect harmony of smoky-peaty aroma and honey-fruity taste. nine0003

Highland Park whiskey aged 30, 40 and 50 years deserves special attention. They contain unique spirits that have been stored in the “personal reserves” of the enterprise for a long time. Premium drinks that are not available to everyone. For example, Highland Park 50 Year Old, according to the brand, was bottled by hand – from just two Spanish oak barrels with sherry “hardening”. These containers have been untouched since 1964. And in 2010, a blend was made on the basis of exclusive spirits, which then ripened for another 8 years. The aroma of the drink is dominated by shades of peat smoke, cherry and nutmeg. The taste is filled with tones of cedar, old oak, juicy fruits and spices. nine0003

Highland Park’s “Special Editions” collection features exclusive releases of the brand’s scotch tape. It is here that the theme of the Vikings is revealed in all its glory. Some drinks have self-explanatory names in the spirit of Scandinavian warriors – Valkyrie, Valknut, Valfather. The collection includes both “regular” three-year-old single malts, and more mature whiskeys – for example, 12-year-old Orkneyinga Legacy and Ness Of Brodgar’s Legacy, as well as 17-year-old The Light and The Dark. And for true gourmets, the “Special Editions” collection presents a series of vintage single molts – this is the Orcadian 1964, Orcadian 1968, Orcadian 1970, Orcadian 1971 and Orcadian 1976.

The Travel Retail Range features designer whiskeys. A great gift to bring back from a trip. Spirit Of The Bear, 14 Year Old Loyalty Of The Wolf, 16 Year Old Wings Of The Eagle and 18 Year Old Viking Pride are especially popular. Gourmets should also appreciate a series of single molts named after key figures in the history of the Vikings of Orkney – Harald, Svein, Einar, Harald, Sigurd, Ragnvald and Thorfinn. nine0003

The brand wants to show every gourmet the severity of the climate in the area where the Vikings used to live, and which undoubtedly influences the maturation of drinks in barrels.

So many kids here vape, beat each other up, cuss, and do even more bad things and the school almost does nothing about. Sure, it’s great that they support the LGBTQ+ community, but this school is crazy. There’s good and bad teachers, some teachers here are very strict and rude. I love all my new friends I have met here, but some people Removed, the school should really try harder.

I went here from 2014-2015, and it was the worst year of school in my life. The kids are mean, some of the teachers don’t even care. Kids will pick on you for being poorer because at the time I lived in Ramona. The only good thing that come from this was the after school program and that was because of cooking. My best advice would be to go to a different school.

Unfortunately, the bullying and violence has not changed, but from the looks of the previous review in 2011, my guess is that it has gotten worse. Our experience has been horrible. Administration fails to follow through, follow up, there is no detention, there are no consequences. The children have learned this and know that they can do whatever they want and they will not even get a slap on the wrist. They are not even afraid of the school resource officer. That should tell you something. I have spent more time in the office with administrators than all my kids and years in school put together. Stay away from this school if there is even a remote possibility that you may need the school to handle a situation for your child.

Where Laura Palmer was killed – Weekend – Kommersant

On May 21, the American channel Showtime will premiere the third season of Twin Peaks, the most famous television series in the world. Of course, nothing is known about the plot of the new 18 episodes, several official teasers are available on the network – with postcard deserted views of Twin Peaks, a city that never really existed, but which for several generations of viewers has become a kind of symbol of one-story America. On the eve of the main media event of spring Vasily Stepanov remembered what Twin Peaks was like 25 years ago: what were its main attractions, where they were filmed and which of the townspeople could be met there. The two main characters of the series, Agent Cooper and Laura Palmer, were not included in the guide, which is easy to explain: Cooper has always been a stranger in this town, and the dead Laura, in a sense, is Twin Peaks itself. A fatal destination for those who embark on a new journey following David Lynch

“Welcome to Twin Peaks”

Location This American town is located in the state of Washington on the US West Coast, between the Blue Pine and White Tail mountains. According to them, Twin Peaks (that is, “Double Peaks”) got its name. All the attributes of a small prosperous city are there. Several large enterprises provide employment for most of the population, the rest are engaged in small business and work in the service sector. There are not so many people in the city: there is a mistake on the sign by the road – 5 thousand turned into 51 thousand due to an extra number and an incorrectly placed comma. But the city has a school, a bank, a sheriff’s department, a hospital (and even a veterinary clinic), a cemetery, a small secret society, an airport, and a large lake. Thanks to him and the proximity to the Canadian border, smuggling, gambling and prostitution flourish. David Lynch and Mark Frost came up with this city more than a quarter of a century ago, connecting the northern and southern states of the West Coast, the Los Angeles pavilions and the Seattle suburbs in order to once again show: no matter how much you do landscaping, behind the white fence of ideal houses and under a flat the asphalt of a well-maintained road surface can live real evil.

Great Northern Hotel

Location The crown jewel of Twin Peaks real estate, this hotel is owned by the powerful Horne family, who, with a tenacity worthy of a better use, are eager to take over all the more or less liquid assets of the city. According to the plan of the owners of the Great Northern, in the very near future it should turn into a highly profitable spa complex. Business development is hindered only by the not-too-ecological Packard sawmill, which is headed by the widow of the deceased owner, Josie. The body of schoolgirl Laura Palmer found not far from the future resort does not add optimism to investors from Scandinavia. In addition, Horne and his partners seem to be involved in very unpleasant cases – they run a brothel in which Twin Peaks schoolgirls work part-time.

Genius of the place Benjamin Horne, owner of the One-Eyed Jack department store, hotel and casino on the Canadian border. Certainly a greedy and domineering person, in which, however, something changes in the course of the series.

Set against the backdrop of the majestic Snoqualmie Falls in Washington State, Salish Lodge was destined to become one of the most mysterious hotels in film history. In Twin Peaks, the Great Northern, with its wooden, hunting-lodge furnishings, slow-moving staff, and eccentric management, seems (like King and Kubrick’s Overlook Hotel) to be a chic place lost in an equally chic landscape. In life, everything is a little more prosaic: going out on one side to a cliff with roaring water, “Salish Lodge” rests on the other facade of a large highway, which, of course, is not so romantic. Once inside the Salish Lodge, you would never recognize the place where Audrey Horne harassed a delegation of Norwegian businessmen and Agent Cooper was shot in the stomach. For the pilot of Twin Peaks, the interiors of the Great Northern—a fireplace, Indian-painted walls, wooden columns—were filmed at the local Kiana Lodge mansion, and after the series was approved, similar sets were rebuilt in a pavilion in Los Angeles.

Packard Lumber Mill

Location Twin Peaks’ second city-forming enterprise is the Packard Lumber Mill. Detailed in the credits to the music of Badalamenti, the production is going through hard times: the old owner has died, leaving the family business not to his sister, as everyone expected, but to the mysterious Chinese wife Josie. Not everyone accepted the fact that one of the richest people in the city was a femme fatale from Hong Kong. And now there is a constant struggle for the sawmill. From the inside, the vengeful sister of the former owner, Katherine, who is helped by her henpecked husband (he, however, sympathizes with Josie), leads the production to ruin. Powerful external enemies of the Packards are the Horns, who dream of ruling the city alone.

Genius of the place Josie Packard, the dark horse of the series, sheriff Harry S. Truman’s lover, who is afraid of her own past and does rash and very dangerous things.

Shooting The main location for filming was the Weinhäuser woodworking plant, launched in 1917, which was very progressive in its time: it was the second sawmill in the USA to be completely powered by electricity. Alas, after filming, the sawmill worked for only two months. Fortunately, all the necessary location shots (including the giant trees lying in the yard) were filmed while working on the pilot episode.

Sheriff’s Office

Location The Truman family has run this office since the 1940s. Sheriff Harry S. Truman received his badge from older brother Franklin Truman, who retired in 1981. And he, in turn, became the guardian of law and order after their father, Frederick Truman. The full squad is part of the only secret society in Twin Peaks, the Boys from the Book House, which solves problems in more radical ways than lawmen.

The genius of the place Perhaps, after all, not Sheriff Truman, but the secretary of the department, Lucy Moran, a girl with a paradoxically high voice and a pretty sweater. Lucy orders donuts for the sheriff and his deputies, gives them damn good coffee, and loves the sensitive police officer Andy.

Shooting Sheriff’s office Lynch and his team set up right at the Weinhäuser sawmill, in a small administrative block. An experienced viewer can notice this, despite the carefully lowered blinds in most scenes by the production designer. A sawmill’s chimneys peek through the windows, and a huge timber truck obscures the view in the parking lot in front of the site.

Book House Boys Secret Society

Location A rare resident of Twin Peaks can be found holding a book; any desire to communicate with the printed word among the locals disappears immediately after school. Therefore, there seem to be no bookstores or libraries in this city. But both combine a specific book salon with a drink, in which a secret society has settled, which includes those who have sworn to keep the peace of the townspeople, despite the conventions and the criminal code. Previously, this most important social institution of Twin Peaks was called the “Civil Brigade”, but then it received a much more peaceful name. On the emblem is a lush spruce and a shining sword. The pyramidal crown of the spruce and the secret gesture that the society has, obviously refer to the symbolism of the Masons, although there is nothing mystical in the society itself. Secret fighters with the dark sides of life are unaware of the existence of the Black Lodge (except perhaps the Indian patrol Hawk), preferring to deal with drug trafficking and other prosaic problems. Next door to the Book House is the brutal “Road House”, a bar for bikers, in which, however, you can hear live music.

Local Genius Deputy Hawke, an Indian who appears to be from the Blackfoot tribe. He has an incredible experience as a tracker, regularly saves the life of both the sheriff and Agent Cooper. Hawk overshadows the case of the guys from the Book House with a mystical light, believes in the world of spirits and the existence of the dark side of a seemingly prosperous little Twin Peaks.

Filming The arrangement of the Book House indicates that things are not so simple with it. A small hut outside, inside the house turns out to be an incredible labyrinth, which includes bookshelves, a bar counter, and several dark nooks where members of the brigade can calmly discuss their affairs, interrogate suspects and plan operations. In the ingenuity of the device, the Book House is in no way inferior to the Wigwam. It was no coincidence that Lynch compiled it from two real-life locations: a tiny house in Fall City, where scenes were filmed at a sawmill and in a hotel, and a strange pub (formerly a bookstore) in Cornell, California.

Big Ed’s Gas Station

Location Big Ed’s Gas Station is a traditional American small business. Open daily from 7 am to 5 pm (except for the hunting season). The owner himself manages the enterprise and serves customers – Big Ed, a classmate of the sheriff, a member of the legendary 1968 Twin Peaks football team. He also does minor car repairs.

Local Genius Big Ed, aka Ed Hurley, uncle of motorcyclist James. He suffers inconsolably because of an unsuccessful marriage and rushes between his wife (rather crazy Nadine) and school love Norma, who works at a local diner. The whole city seems to know about Ed’s passion, which does not prevent him from being one of the most respected members of the local community. At the Book House, Ed serves as an off-the-record Deputy Truman Sheriff.

Filming The gas station in Fall City, Washington, where the film was filmed, did not last long – it was closed almost immediately after filming. Now in the house where Ed ran, there is a stone-cutting workshop. After the film crew moved to California, the “gas station” became a pretty sunny place. Washington mists are a thing of the past.

Double-R Diner

Location A place with excellent coffee and cherry pie attracts Agent Cooper with the opportunity to eat well and get the latest news first hand. The wife of dangerous trucker Leo Johnson Shelley and Ed Hurley’s mistress Norma work here. Uniform dresses, white aprons, ears on top. The mysterious Lady with a log also comes here.

Local genius Shelly Johnson, a waitress, left school to marry truck driver Leo Johnson, which she constantly regrets. Leo has turned Shelly into a free maid and constantly beats her, and in retaliation she has an affair with school star Bobby.

Filming The Tweeds Cafe, where the filming took place, will keep the memory of Twin Peaks forever. The establishment is regularly refurbished to bring it back to its glory days when David Lynch first visited. The smallest details of the interior seen on the screen are restored and reproduced in life. Also, in the parking lot of Tweeds, the Twin Peaks group managed to film a scene with Bobby being released from the bullpen. True, I had to block something again with a timber carrier.

Location A classic American high school attended by all the younger generation of heroes, rich and poor alike. Wide corridors, spacious classrooms, personal lockers built into the walls. Audrey arrives on a Rolls-Royce, James arrives on a motorcycle, Donna arrives on a bicycle.

Laura Palmer also studied here, whose death comes as a shock to all students and teachers. Announcing Laura’s death over the speakerphone, the director cries.

Geniuses of the place Donna Hayward, strikingly positive girl, best friend of Laura Palmer, sweetheart (after Laura’s death) of James Hurley. Bobby Briggs, captain of the Lumberjacks football team, boyfriend of Laura (and several other ladies of the town), he deals drugs at school.

Shooting The venue was a very ordinary school in Snoqualmie (Washington). Filmed without leaving far from the waterfall and the town of Fall City. However, if you get there today, you are unlikely to recognize the corridors from the movie. There are two reasons: firstly, 25 years have passed since the filming and the inevitable repairs corrected the television picture, and secondly, after the film crew moved to Los Angeles, most of the school interiors were filmed already in the pavilion.

Ronette Railroad Bridge

Location The railroad bridge that Ronette Pulaski, a survivor of Bob’s ghost encounter, was built in the early 20th century to facilitate the removal of finished products from the Packard sawmill. There are several lakes very close to the bridge, and on them are the houses of the Palmers and the Log Lady, the mystical Glastonberry Grove and the Owl Cave, remote from the bustle of city life.

Genius of the place Ronette Pulaski, daughter of Packard sawmill worker Janek Pulaski, a student at Twin Peaks High School who, unlike the less fortunate Laura Palmer, managed to escape from dark forces.

Filming The Reinig railway bridge was taken out of use almost immediately after the filming of Twin Peaks: Fire Follow Me in 1991. The rails were dismantled and the surface was changed so that they could be used by pedestrians and cyclists. The mysterious object of Lynch’s fantasy has become a traditional subject of development reflection.

At the One-Eyed Jack Casino

Place Benjamin Horn’s Overseas establishment is run by Madame Blackie O’Reilly. A casino draped in heavy red curtains, a cabaret with private rooms, and an important drug-trafficking hub, causes understandable indignation among the fighters for justice from the Book House. The cup of patience overflows when it becomes clear that schoolgirls of Twin Peaks moonlighted in this brothel. The girls in the One-Eyed Jack were recruited through the perfume department of Horn’s department store.

Genius of the place Audrey Horne. Wounded by her father’s neglect and shocked by the death of rival friend Laura, the daughter of a wealthy businessman leads her own investigation into the mysteries of Twin Peaks, constantly dropping hints to Agent Cooper. Curiosity leads Audrey to the alcoves of the One-Eyed Jack, where she recognizes her own father in the “master of the establishment”. Only the mask separates them.

Filming The interiors of the casino – antler chandeliers, cobblestone fireplaces, etc. – are inspired by one of the Washington state mansions. Some believe that the name of the hangout refers to Marlon Brando’s One-Eyed Jacks (the film was originally intended to be directed by Stanley Kubrick). The version is beautifully supported by the presence in the frame of the actor Hank Worden, known for his work in westerns – including “One-Eyed Jacks”. The more pragmatic point out that “one-eyed jack” is one of many English euphemisms for the penis.

Black Lodge and Owl Cave

Location Twin Peaks’ mystical sights are associated with the Indian tribes that lived in the forests of Ghostwood. It is not known exactly who drew a map with the Wigwam on the wall of the Owl Cave, but, apparently, the Indians were the first to know about its existence and managed to decipher its contents. Alas, in the 20th century the cave turned into a shabby tourist attraction – picnics were held here, dates were arranged and weddings were played. However, even from such use, the place has not lost its mystical power. What Agent Cooper and the people of Twin Peaks learned 25 years ago.

Genius of the place A rampaging dwarf, aka Phillip’s severed arm, aka the man in red, who leads Cooper to solve the murder of Laura Palmer. Perhaps this is the most mysterious and at the same time absolutely Lynchian inhabitant of the Black Lodge. Talks backwards, dances jazz, sometimes seems harmless.

Filming The cave and the portal leading to the Wigwam are separated from the actual filming location by hundreds of kilometers. The owl sanctuary is located in direct line of sight of the HOLLYWOOD sign in Griffith Park in Los Angeles. Lynch and Frost are not the first to film there: Batman has already used these caves. Not far from here is Glastonberry Grove, laid out by the film’s production designers at Windom Earle’s cabin specially built for filming.

The Russian premiere of the third season of “Twin Peaks” will take place on May 22 on TV-3 channel and in the online service “Amediateka”

Why is Twin Peaks funny?

Fandom

I’m a huge fan of David Lynch. The strangeness of his films, repulsive to many, makes me return to them again and again. Blue Velvet, Lost Highway, Eraserman are great, but the only David Lynch project that I’m really willing to watch over and over again is Twin Peaks.

I’m not the only one obsessed with this show. All over the world, Twin Peaks is gaining an impressive army of fans. They are all trying to find the answer to the main question – what was it really? Yes, we know who killed Laura Palmer. .. but what was the true meaning behind it by David Lynch himself?

🗻 What Twin Peaks is about

The series begins with an investigation into the brutal murder of popular teen and high school queen Laura Palmer (Sheryl Lee) led by FBI Special Agent Dale Cooper (Kyle MacLachlan). Cooper’s work quickly pays off: it turns out that Laura led a double life. Laura’s death sets off a chain reaction of eerie, dramatic and mystical events in the city.

At night, Agent Cooper has strange visions of Laura and other mysterious characters. His dreams tell him that something big is going on here in Twin Peaks, something far more evil and powerful than the schoolgirl murder case…

, catch up and come back. What follows is VERY many spoilers and EVEN MORE theories that will definitely ruin your viewing of the series. This is the case when it is better to understand and feel for yourself before you want to know the opinion from the outside.

🌲 Why is Twin Peaks a cult series?

“Who killed Laura Palmer?”

The main question of the pilot and the first season introduces us to the strange world of a small town filled with teenagers in love, good cops, scheming businessmen and those other weirdos like the Log Lady. Almost from the very first minutes, we feel that some powerful evil force hid deep in the misty sea of firs. This atmosphere, an intoxicating mixture of American dream and thriller, has made arthouse adept David Lynch a literal trendsetter in mainstream series.

Lynch and his collaborator Mark Frost’s plan was to hook viewers with the murder of Laura Palmer, the most popular high school student, followed by an investigation involving all of the city’s residents, who are both eerily honest and mercilessly sinful.

American viewers fell for the bait. The pilot episode was watched by over 34 million people, making it the highest-rated project of the 1989–1990 season. TV viewers were fascinated by the unusual world of Twin Peaks and became obsessed with finding who killed Laura Palmer.

However, the real test of Twin Peaks came with the airing of the second episode. Cooper finds himself in the Black Lodge for the first time, where he meets a mysterious dwarf, one-armed outcast named Mike and Laura Palmer’s killer, Bob. The dialogue in this scene was recorded phonetically in reverse order, giving it an air of feverish sleep and anxiety.

The situation worsened when ABC moved Twin Peaks to Saturday nights at 10:00 pm. With ratings predictably down, ABC put pressure on Lynch and Frost to reveal the identity of Laura Palmer’s killer. Who, to the surprise of those who followed the show closely, was her father, Leland.

Two episodes later, Leland committed suicide in his prison cell, freeing himself from the demon Bob and leaving the show forever. An attempt to pit Cooper against an enemy from his past, the scheming FBI agent Windom Earle, did not quite catch on in the hearts of the audience, and the series was canceled shortly after the season finale, directed by Lynch, aired on June 10, 1991.

Lynch is a child of the Midwest and the rural Northwest. His depiction of everyday life in a small town is frightening, attractive. This is what drew 34 million Americans to Twin Peaks in the first place. However, many of them did not dare to follow him into the dark corners of debauchery that exist in every city in the United States. Most people liked the sassy, sexy cover, not the spiritual corruption and philosophical overtones.

25 years after the end of the second season, Showtime released a third season, handed over to Lynch in its entirety. Those who dared to look behind the glossy cover followed the director into the depths of his imagination. And, of course, they did not understand anything.

Rather, everyone understood one thing: the second “Twin Peaks” will never happen again.

☕ Hidden Symbols in Twin Peaks

None of the theories I’m about to present to you have been confirmed by David Lynch himself (who is notoriously not particularly fond of explaining the meaning of his creations). Below you will find the theories that my friends, family and strangers on the internet hold 🤣

Duality

Watch the opening credits. From the very beginning, we are presented with the image of a cute little thrush, which slowly passes into the machines at the factory. Nature vs. Industry is the first dual couple in the series. We also see fire and water – saw sparks in a factory, then a waterfall in the forest. I would even go so far as to say that the theme music (created by the incredible Angelo Badalamenti) is an opposite: light notes on top of a deeper, more pulsating bass note.

The theme of duality continues throughout the series. Laura Palmer, a poor dead schoolgirl, has a doppelgänger, Maddie Ferguson (literally played by the same actress). The famous back-talking dwarf scene is played out on a black and white floor. I think you understand the logic.

Hiding secrets

The location of Twin Peaks is so purely American that it’s hard to imagine (don’t forget the “fucking fine coffee” and cherry pie), but behind it all lies a deep dark secret. Evil lurks in almost every corner of Twin Peaks (like the creepy Black Lodge), and it hides behind a smile. The murder of Laura Palmer is the epitome of this – beauty poisoned by hidden darkness.

Dreams vs. Reality

This is a common theme in Lynch’s work, mixing the subconscious with the conscious to the point where it’s hard to tell what’s real and what’s not. Agent Dale Cooper is the most prominent embodiment of this theme in Twin Peaks. Through his dreams, he communicates with people in the Black and White Lodge – a mysterious giant and a dwarf (another example of duality). His subconscious helps him, but also exposes him to terrible danger.

Eyes

This is quite interesting: there are numerous references to sight and eyes in the series. The sinister club is called One-Eyed Jack. Nadine Hurley wears an eye patch (interestingly, we don’t see what’s underneath until she is killed in one of the sequels). Often the viewer is shown close-ups of the eyes and references to sight or observation.

The occult

Twin Peaks is full of references to the occult, from the relatively innocent tarot card readings in One-Eyed Jack to the obsession experienced at his school by Leland Palmer and then by Dale Cooper. The dwarf’s reversed speech may be a direct reference to the famous occultist Aleister Crowley, who promoted this type of conversation as a way to communicate with spirits.

🧐 David Lynch’s own version

Speaking to The Guardian, Lynch explained why he didn’t see the point in clarifying the meaning of his work: “I never explain because it can’t be described in words. This will compress everything, it will simplify everything too much . When you finish something, people want you to talk about it later. And I think it’s almost like a crime. A film or a picture – each thing has its own language, and it is wrong to explain its meaning in another language” .

It seems like we’ll never know exactly what the show is about because it doesn’t look like David Lynch is going to reveal his secrets anytime soon.
