Leila Alice Denmark (1898 – 2012) – American pediatrician, one of the developers of the whooping cough vaccine, was the oldest practicing pediatrician in the world, retiring at the age of 103 in May 2001.
She is one of the few centenarians who have crossed the 110-year milestone, who are known not only for their longevity.
Born in Portal, Georgia, she was the third of 12 children in a family of farmers. Danmark studied at college to be an educator, but decided to go to medical school after her fiancé, John E. Danmark, was sent to Fr. Java to Indonesia. If she had received a pedagogical education, her husband would not have been allowed to take her with him, but medicine was a sought-after specialty in Java.

She was the only woman among the 1918 Medical College of Georgia graduates.
After returning from Indonesia, the couple settled in Atlanta, where Leila Denmark worked first at Grady Hospital and then at Eggleston Children’s Hospital. Since 1931, she began private practice.
In 1932, she dealt with the whooping cough epidemic that claimed 75 human lives in Georgia. Thanks to the research of Leila Denmark, during which she managed to cure her daughter, Mary Alice (1930 years old), the production of a vaccine against whooping cough was started.
L. Denmark described the effectiveness of her research in the American Journal of Diseases of Children (Studies in Whooping Cough: Diagnosis and Immunization, 1936; Whooping Cough Vaccine, 1942). For her achievements, Danmark received the Fisher Prize in 1935.
In 1945 she moved to Sandy Springs, where she continued her pediatric practice. At the age of 87, L. Danmark wanted to retire and moved to the city of Alpharetta, but eventually continued to work as a doctor there as well.

At 103, she was probably the oldest practicing physician in the world. Interestingly, her longevity can hardly be explained by heredity. Her mother died at 45, her father 20 years later.

There are six houses namely Love, Tak, Chi, Tai, Kwan and Mei which represent 6 buildings. 
To commemorate the contributions of Mr. Au Chak Man and Mr. Mok Kon Sang, the school was named Moonsang College after them. 
The second and third floors were used as a student hostel. In 1930, the first 3 students graduated from high school. At 19In 32, a women’s hostel was opened, and the number of students increased to 426 people. A hall for 200 students was built at the back of the main school building in Kai Tak Bun. In 1934, thanks to the outstanding work of Moonsang College, the Hong Kong government began to subsidize the school (school with special grants). In the fall of 1937, the women’s secondary department was closed, and all female students were transferred to Hip Yunn College. In 1938, the first day of the return home was held. 
There were 525 students in total. On November 26, Moonsang College Alumni Association was founded. 
classrooms, the middle school resumed to S5 and had only 17 classes and 785 students. In 1954, five students participated in the first English HKCEE after World War II. 
That year there were 19 middle grades, 30 primary grades, and 8 kindergarten grades. At 19In 65 the school gates on Inverness Road were completed. In 1968, the old hall was rebuilt and completed on January 9, 1969. It was later named as Lim Por Yen Hall (Block B). The hall is designed for 1020 spectators. Under the hall there are 6 classrooms and a gymnasium. The old kindergarten building was rebuilt in 1976, and that year the elementary school was approved as a secondary school. On March 6 of the same year, the school celebrated its golden jubilee. There were open days and exhibitions. The new kindergarten/primary section building (Block A) was completed on June 1977 years old. After that, work began on the construction of the Rufus Huang Memorial Building (Block E), which was completed in 1979. In 1980, construction began on the elementary school library, kitchen and swimming pool. On May 26, 1981, the pool was opened. In 1986, Mansang College built a new building, the Diamond Jubilee Building, to commemorate the Diamond Jubilee.
(Block F) was built and completed on December 21, 1986. In 1987, the pool was renovated. In 1988, the Moonsang College Alumni Association held a golden jubilee celebration. At 1993 a new laboratory building was built (Block G). and a new lecture theatre, the Dr. Daniel Lam Lecture Theatre, was completed. The school underwent extensive renovations in 1995. To show the history of our college, an archive was created at the school. On March 8, 1996, the school celebrated its seventieth anniversary. There were open days and exhibitions. Moonsang College Archive was opened. On March 7, 1997, the school celebrated its 71st anniversary with a time capsule anchored on campus. The time capsule will open in 50 years.

3 Manhattanville College of the Holy Heart (1937–1966) 
At that time the city was still eight miles north of New York, still clustered around the south end at the Battery. The academy has always been diverse, with a large proportion of the student population being made up of recent immigrants from Latin America and Europe. [6] In 1880, the Academy began offering its female students a two-year post-secondary program of study, heralding a future in higher education. 
The first bachelor’s degrees were awarded in 1918. The Absolute Charter was signed on May 29, 1919. As the college grew, New York City also expanded northward, towards the far northern edge of Manhattan Island towards the Harlem River, transforming the surrounding area from a rural village into Manhattan’s diverse residential/commercial areas bordering the Harlem and Morningside Heights neighborhoods. At 19In 1935, the College of the Sacred Heart received accreditation from the prestigious Association of American Universities. [8] The official name was changed to “Manhattanville College of the Sacred Heart” in 1937. [9] 
In May 1933, the students created the “Manhattanville Resolutions”, a document in which they declared their active commitment to racial justice. [10] This commitment was tested when the first female Negro student was admitted to the college in 1938. Alumni reactions to the racially integrated but all-female student body have been mixed and somewhat controversial. [11] While the overwhelming majority of letters praised Manhattanville for its courageous actions, College President Grace Dammann, RSCJ, saw the negative reviews as an opportunity to open hearts and minds. 31 May 19At 38 years old, at the annual class day meeting of students, she gave an impassioned speech called “Principles Against Prejudice.” She stated that education is the key to overcoming prejudice.

In 1946, the Mayor of New York formed a special commission to study the resource needs of the city’s public educational institutions. Their recommendations will have particularly strong implications for the future of neighboring Manhattanville Sacred Heart College. 
Ultimately, Manhattanville was allocated approximately $8.8 million ($8,808,620) for the Manhattan campus and buildings. [19] Groundbreaking ceremony held at the new campus near Harrison, in Purchase, NY on May 3, 1951 years old. The new campus, with its buildings, was renovated and other building work was completed in October 1952. [20] 
Between 1966 and 1970, the Manhattanville administration oversaw the gradual removal of Catholic symbols and traditions from campus. Although the college has been governed by an independent board of trustees since its founding in 1841, it has been strongly identified with the Roman Catholic Church and these changes have been difficult for the community. K 19In 69, the charter of the college was expanded, and now it could include both women and men. The first class of coeducational freshmen entered Manhattanville in August 1971. 
In the fifty years since then, the number of graduate programs has increased significantly. Since 1993, the School of Graduate and Professional Studies, now the School of Business, has developed master’s and certificate programs in various professional and business fields. In 2012, the Manhattanville Master of Fine Arts in Creative Writing was officially approved. The first doctoral program was introduced in 2010 by Ed.D. in educational leadership from the school of education. [21] 
Maggin (acting interim) (1981–1982) 
Today it is known as City College South Campus. The last remaining buildings from the Manhattanville era are Park Hall (then known as Benziger) and Mott Hall (a parochial school during Manhattanville’s time). [27] 
The Raids renovated the existing Ophir Hall and equipped it with the latest household items, including electricity. However, shortly before completion, faulty wiring set off a fire that destroyed the house on July 14, 1888. The Rides were rebuilt under the guidance of renowned architectural firm McKim, Mead and White. This house is designed in the style of a gothic castle and is built on the existing foundations. The construction of the castle was completed in 1892 year. [30] The three-story building, containing the East Library and West Room, was completed in 1912. [31] Whitelaw Read died while serving as Ambassador to England in 1912. Elizabeth Mills Reed died in 1931 and the entire contents of the house were auctioned off in 1935. In 1947, the Reid family put the estate up for sale.

The chapel was completed in 1963 and named after President Eleanor O’Byrne, RSCJ. O’Byrne is the longest-serving president, having lasted from 1945 to 1966. Dammann and Tenney Halls were the last residential buildings completed in 1966. In 1991, forty-eight faculty and staff housing units added a new dimension to the Manhattanville campus community. [32] 
The campus has undergone a number of renovations over the past few years, including improvements to the library, dining hall, gym, athletic fields, tennis courts, and campus walkways. In 2012, the college opened “Heritage Hall”, a permanent exhibition of the history of the college. 
This selective program limits admission to ten percent of each incoming class. Castle Scholars Honors Students benefit from rigorous, intellectually stimulating, interdisciplinary seminars, each taught by full-time faculty. Castle Scholars can also apply for special funding to undertake Honors independent research and creative projects, enabling them to design, implement and achieve the ambitious goals they set for themselves. Castle Honors students will also learn how to become effective leaders and contribute to the Manhattanville community by hosting a Human Rights Awareness Day each fall and a Student Research and Creative Achievement Fair each spring. 
[ citation needed ] The school has thousands of music teachers, including Cecilia Claire Bocard and Thomas Mark Liotta. The namesake of the school was Pope Pius X, an adherent of sacred music, who initiated the reform of the liturgy in the 20th century. Institute closed at 1969 year. In 2010, the Gregorian chant, held in Pius X Hall as part of the inauguration celebrations of the previous president, drew a crowded audience of alumni, students and faculty.

The rare book collection consists of approximately 2,400 titles covering the book’s history in the United States and Europe. Subject areas represented include history, religion, literature, biography, and philosophy. The collection also includes other formats such as periodicals, Jewish pamphlets, government documents, maps, and manuscripts. Of particular note are the five incunabula and several bound volumes of manuscripts. The latter include separate collections of psalms and prayers intended to assist in personal ministry, known as the Books of hours . The most notable of these is Horae Beatae Mariae Virginis, sperm Calendario – also known as Manhattanville Book of Hours . [44] 
The department has added eight teams since 2007 and currently sponsors 20 varsity sports: men’s and women’s basketball, cross country, ice hockey, indoor running, lacrosse, outdoor track, and soccer; baseball, softball, men’s and women’s golf, field hockey, and women’s volleyball. Men’s and women’s tennis [47] will start in 2018–19.
