Apache2 Debian Default Page: It works

Apache2 Debian Default Page

This is the default welcome page used to test the correct
operation of the Apache2 server after installation on Debian systems.
If you can read this page, it means that the Apache HTTP server installed at
this site is working properly. You should replace this file (located at
/var/www/html/index.html) before continuing to operate your HTTP server.

If you are a normal user of this web site and don’t know what this page is
about, this probably means that the site is currently unavailable due to
maintenance.
If the problem persists, please contact the site’s administrator.

Debian’s Apache2 default configuration is different from the
upstream default configuration, and split into several files optimized for
interaction with Debian tools. The configuration system is
fully documented in
/usr/share/doc/apache2/README.Debian.gz
. Refer to this for the full
documentation. Documentation for the web server itself can be
found by accessing the manual if the apache2-doc
package was installed on this server.

The configuration layout for an Apache2 web server installation on Debian systems is as follows:

/etc/apache2/
|-- apache2.conf
| `-- ports.conf
|-- mods-enabled
| |-- *.load
| `-- *.conf
|-- conf-enabled
| `-- *.conf
|-- sites-enabled
| `-- *.conf

  • apache2.conf is the main configuration
file. It puts the pieces together by including all remaining configuration
files when starting up the web server.
  • ports.conf is always included from the
main configuration file. It is used to determine the listening ports for
incoming connections, and this file can be customized anytime.
  • Configuration files in the mods-enabled/,
    conf-enabled/ and sites-enabled/ directories contain
particular configuration snippets which manage modules, global configuration
fragments, or virtual host configurations, respectively.
  • They are activated by symlinking available
    configuration files from their respective
*-available/ counterparts. These should be managed
    by using our helpers

    a2enmod,
    a2dismod,

    a2ensite,
    a2dissite,

    and

    a2enconf,
    a2disconf
. See their respective man pages for detailed information.

  • The binary is called apache2. Due to the use of
environment variables, in the default configuration, apache2 needs to be
    started/stopped with /etc/init.d/apache2 or apache2ctl.
Calling /usr/bin/apache2 directly will not work with the
    default configuration.

By default, Debian does not allow access through the web browser to
any file apart of those located in /var/www,
public_html
directories (when enabled) and /usr/share (for web
applications). If your site is using a web document root
located elsewhere (such as in /srv) you may need to whitelist your
document root directory in /etc/apache2/apache2. conf.

The default Debian document root is /var/www/html. You
can make your own virtual hosts under /var/www. This is different
to previous releases which provides better security out of the box.

Please use the reportbug tool to report bugs in the
Apache2 package with Debian. However, check existing bug reports before reporting a new bug.

Please report bugs specific to modules (such as PHP and others)
to respective packages, not to the web server itself.

Humphrey Bogart Anniversary

Humphrey Bogart AnniversaryReport a technical issue

Humphrey Bogart Anniversary

“You got in my way boy! Should I kiss you or hit you?” Marlene Dietrich asked Humphrey Bogart when they met. They weren’t limited to just one kiss. He was a cynic and a drunkard. But no one wore hats so elegantly and no one burned women with his eyes like that. Humphrey Bogart was old fashioned. If you fell in love, you got married. All wives are actresses. The third, Mayo Meto, drank even more than Humphrey. She was so jealous that she set fire to the house several times, and once stabbed Bogart with a knife. The couple was called the “Warring Bogarts”. It was Mayo who spread rumors about Humphrey’s affair with her partner in the legendary Casablanca, Ingrid Bergman. To refute this nonsense, Humphrey and Ingrid swore that they could not stand each other. And they didn’t lie.

A 19-year-old debutante turned out to be more dangerous than the famous Ingrid Bergman. Humphrey met Lauren Bacall on the set of another of his iconic films, To Have and Have Not. Lauren was so afraid of the 45-year-old Bogart that she looked at him frowningly, her head bowed low. But then this look made her a sex symbol. They got married a year later. Friends called their house “The Rat Hole”. The most noisy parties were held there. Lauren gave Humphrey two children. They lived together for 12 years – until Bogart’s death. He died at 57 from cancer – an addiction to cigarettes and alcohol affected. Lauren outlived her beloved by 57 years. She called Humphrey Bogart the best man to walk the earth.

You need to maintain a balance between the desire for change and strong relationships with people.

Marriage for you is first of all a partnership where you are on an equal footing with your partner. You are characterized by affection and exaltation of your love, but in no case will you tolerate encroachments on your freedom in any manifestation. An imbalance in your family life can be introduced if this union becomes burdensome for you, in order for the marriage to last as long as possible and be stronger, your partner should focus on marital duties and this will lead to a happy relationship.

You like to plan everything, go according to plan and expect high results. But there are a number of problems with this, because due to excessive planning, if something does not go according to plan, it immediately throws you off balance. You are impulsive and therefore it is important to always control the situation. Others will have to get used to your features in order to go hand in hand with you through life. You are ready for any work, but only if you consider it timely and extremely necessary. You do not like being pressured, it causes you indignation and a sharp dislike for the person from whom it comes. You do not like it when your opinion is not taken into account and decisions are made for you, this causes rejection in you. You need to be in control of all your actions. Reliability in marriage, reliable business, being yourself under any circumstances is important for you. You will give all your strength, energy, your talent and, most importantly, time to your business.

What Tuition Covers

Tuition prices include meals and snacks (but not formula), diapers, and educational programming.[1][2]

Most locations that offer before- and/or after-school care also provide transportation to nearby schools at no additional charge.[1]

You’ll also receive internet viewing access to the classroom, though some schools charge a small additional fee for this.[1][2]

Additional Costs

There are a few extra costs to consider in addition to tuition when enrolling your child at Kids ‘R’ Kids. Find details below.

Registration Fee

Kids ‘R’ Kids charges an annual registration fee ranging from $100 to $150 per child.[1][3]

If you’re registering more than one child, you may pay a discounted family rate of $150 to $250 total, or $75 per child after the first one.[1][3]

Activity Fee

Some locations charge an activity fee to cover field trips and other special events. [1]

This ranges from $100 to $145 annually, or you might pay $10 to $20 per activity, depending on your local academy.[1]

Supply/Material Fee

Most locations charge an annual supply or material fee to cover the cost of extra classroom supplies. This generally ranges from $100 to $180.[1]

Drop-In Care

Some Kids ‘R’ Kids locations offer drop-in care to parents who only need occasional childcare. Prices range from $65 to $75 per day.[1]

For school-aged children who are already enrolled and need a full day of childcare due to a school closing, some locations will instead charge you around $15 to $20 per day in addition to weekly rates.[1]

Late/Returned Payments

Returned or late payments may result in a $20 to $50 fee.[1][3]

Savings and Discounts

Kids ‘R’ Kids offers several discounts, which we outline below.

However, keep in mind that some locations will only offer discounts to families enrolling in full-time care. [1]

  • Sibling discount: When enrolling more than one child, you’ll pay full price for the youngest child, but most locations offer 5% or 10% off tuition for additional children.[1][3] Some locations offer discounts of up to 20% for the oldest child or all additional children when enrolling three or more.[1]
  • Military discount: Children of military members receive a tuition discount — generally 10% off, but it varies by location.[2][4]
  • Profession discount: Some locations offer 10% off tuition for children of firefighters, police officers, teachers, and EMTs. You must show proof of employment to receive this discount.[5][1]
  • Refer a friend: Some locations give discounts or gift card rewards for referring a friend to Kids ‘R’ Kids.[6][7][8]

Payments Methods and Schedule

All locations we contacted require weekly payments, though each school sets its own guidelines for payments. [1][2]

Debit cards, credit cards, and ACH payments are valid at all locations. You may also be able to pay with a check, money order, or cash, depending on the school.[1]

ACH payments made online may incur a convenience fee of around 2%.[9][10] Some locations waive this fee when you set up recurring payments.[11][1]

“Good educational institution” – the most such schools – 85 educational institutions that teach American, British, Indian programs. There is also the only Russian International School, where the educational program of the Russian Federation is taken as a basis.

“Acceptable Institution” – acceptable level of education in 56 schools in Dubai. Among them are many Indian, American schools, there are Iranian, Filipino, Pakistani institutions.

“Weak educational institution” — there is only one weak school in the rating, it is three years old. The Dubai authorities noted in the report that the institution has a weak level of security, management, a weak curriculum and acceptable teaching skills from teachers.

“Very weak educational institution” – there are no such institutions in Dubai.

“Unsuitable educational institution” – and there are none. It is likely that the KHDA revokes the license if the school does not meet the quality requirements.

How to decide on a school: where to start, where to look for information

The KHDA website has a rating of schools in Dubai that will help you navigate.

  • Determine the criteria that are important to you: the quality of education, the cost, the location of the school, the age of the child. Sort the schools according to these criteria.
  • Open the selected educational institutions, study the information, go to the official website of the school.
  • Be sure to go on a tour – schools often organize excursions for parents in the spring. Get to know the guide.

Each student, depending on age, must meet certain school requirements. For example, to know English at a fairly high level. If a student does not know a foreign language well, he may be offered additional lessons to improve the language. Also, the school can test knowledge in mathematics, make a test for logic, attention, memory and speech. The final results affect the distribution of the child in the class.

The cost of secondary education abroad

Switzerland

Education here will probably be the most expensive, but the money spent will definitely pay off – after all, this is one of the most prestigious areas in the world of education.

Here you can find almost all known and popular education systems: French Baccalaureate, American High School Diploma, English A-Level, German Abitur, and, of course, the International Baccalaureate (IB) program.

Children will enjoy excellent living conditions and a high level of care, healthy food, comfortable climate conditions and clean air.

Many schools provide additional instruction in etiquette, skiing, sailing and several languages at once.

Tuition: from 100,000 francs per year

United Kingdom

This country has an excellent ratio of quality and cost of education.

In addition to basic academic training, British schools provide their students with many useful and necessary life skills, develop independence and self-discipline.

You can choose the program yourself – taking into account further plans for admission: A-Level, IB or US High School Diploma.

Fees are based on school facilities, living conditions, multiple exam options (eg IB + US High School Diploma), availability of language support for international students, and prestige and location of the school.

Tuition: from £33,000 per year

USA

Studying in the US will cost roughly the same as the UK. Along with a wide range of subjects, schools offer different levels and depths of study, and in some of them you can take several IB subjects.

Schools in the United States emphasize the development of academic skills and critical thinking, preparing students for admission to the best universities in the world.

Tuition: from $54,000 per year

Canada

The cost of education in most Canadian schools will be lower than in the US – this is due to the Canadian dollar.

It is important to note that in Canada the choice of schools is not as rich as in the UK, where boarding schools are the traditional format of secondary education. In Canada, schools are mainly focused on preparing students for studying at Canadian universities: students intensively learn the language, master subjects and prepare for exams. Thanks to partnership programs, from many schools in Canada there is a chance to enter the university through a special internal competition. Studying at a high school in Canada also provides many students with the opportunity to successfully stay in the country in the future.

Tuition fees: from CAD 44,000 per year

European countries

Many parents choose to study in European countries. European schools are comfortable in terms of location – for many parents it is important that the child is close to home. Some families have real estate abroad, and local schools provide an opportunity to live in the country and receive a full basic education.

And yet, when choosing European schools, the key factor, of course, is the cost of an English-language education. The quality of education in European schools is recognized all over the world, and the cost is lower than in Switzerland or the UK.

Education in European schools provides an opportunity for further admission not only to the world’s leading universities, but also to national universities. In some countries, graduating from a local school provides an opportunity for free bachelor’s studies (for example, Germany or the Czech Republic).

Tuition fees: from 28,000 euros per year

Australia, New Zealand and Asian countries

As an alternative to standard destinations, despite long distances, many parents choose Australia and New Zealand, as well as Asian countries.

As for the range of prices: they are comparable to European schools and you can find really good deals.

China, Singapore, Taiwan and other Asian countries often attract parents with their economic growth, especially if the child is interested in learning additional Chinese and/or getting a profession at local universities.

Australia and New Zealand are very attractive in terms of high standard of living and comfortable weather conditions. Also, these countries are famous for their loyalty to migrants, so studying at school provides a good chance to stay in the country after graduating from a local school and university.

Tuition fee: from 6,000 US dollars per year

When choosing a program, be sure to specify what is included in the indicated cost.

In some cases, this may not include additional costs such as:

  • exam fees;
  • additional fees/commissions;
  • excursions and hikes;
  • teaching materials;
  • school uniform;
  • etc.

This moment should not be overlooked so that there are no unpleasant surprises and unforeseen expenses in the course of organizing training.

It is also necessary to take into account that the higher the level of residence in the school, the better equipped classes and laboratories, the higher the cost of education in it. The cost also depends on the availability of equipment for sports and recreation, for electives and creative activities.

Foreign schools provide the opportunity to take additional training and individual assistance in certain subjects or a foreign language. This must be kept in mind as another separate item of expenditure.

As for the international centres, children attend compulsory additional classes in a foreign language in them, so most often they are already included in the cost of education.

How Much to Spend per Child at Christmas – NO GUILT GUIDE

Christmas is around the corner, but hopefully you are planning in plenty of time to make this fun! If you are looking at your overall budget, check out this guide on budgeting for Christmas in YNAB.

The national average on Christmas gift spending per child is between $200-$300 for the last 5 years.

This year is no different, but choosing the amount to spend on Christmas per child is a personal decision with your budget as the main factor. That said, don’t forget to take into account your family traditions, desires, and ages of the kiddos!

Christmas Spending Trends

I was stunned when I saw the following:

17% of American parents spare no expense when it comes to Christmas gifts.

Jovana Kentic for Capital Counselor

I discovered a survey through RetailMeNot that 66% of households plan to spend the same amount or more. I keep hearing about a struggling economy, so as long as the spending isn’t debt-fueled, this is a relief!

Notice in infographic they share that Christmas spending is up per child by $40 over last year’s spending per kid.

This falls in line with what I’ve seen for national polls over the last 5 years, but to make sure these surveys include real people, I reached out to a financial Facebook moms group and a local Facebook moms group for an unscientific ask. Very unscientific, but I’m finding the same thoughts this way, as well.

In both groups, 70% of moms plan to spend under $400 per child with a pretty even split between the $0-$200 and $200-400 camps.

Consider this against the average expected spend to be $942 according to Gallup.com.

Find the Right Gift Budget per Child

1. Determine Your Overall Budget FIRST

It is helpful if you start by looking at what you are able to spend for the holiday season. When you start putting pen to paper, make sure you include all of the parties and expectations that tend to crop up.

That’s why you have to start with knowing what you’re willing to spend, and then you can dive into how that money gets spent. Planning will keep your finances in a good place.

I credit a lot of my planning & keeping debt out of my life by moving over to the budgeting software, YNAB, and you can read more about budgeting for Christmas using YNAB here.

Step #1: List out your holiday expense expectations.

Our family knows the ebbs and flows for the most part. For example, in my husband’s friend circle, we buy 1 gift for the party under $100, 1 gift for the host, and we bring a dish. For my friend circle, I buy 1 gift under $50 and pay for an evening at a wine bar.

We literally list all of these events plus things like work functions, holiday decorations, or any other pieces of the season that are important to you and your family.

Here’s a full list to help you get a comprehensive list to plan well, but you certainly can trim to what your family prioritizes!

  • Gifts for those in your home
  • Family Gifts
  • Friend Gifts
  • Coworker Events or Gifts
  • Special dinners
  • Potlucks
  • Parties
  • Christmas tree
  • Ornaments
  • Outside decorations
  • Inside decorations
  • Don’t forget the stocking stuffers!
  • Charities
  • Goodies for neighbors
  • Christmas Cards
  • Bonus or gifts for your service providers (house-cleaning, daycare, & such)

Notice that as you start listing out what the expectations are, they almost line up with your priorities.

Step #2: Prioritize each item in your list

I find this helpful because once I start putting each thing in order, it helps me start to question whether I want to sign up for that item again this year.

Just because it’s what you’ve done in the past, that doesn’t mean that it’s a requirement every year. I’m not saying ditch your traditions!

Just think through the priorities, and if you got all full of angst thinking I’m asking you to knix your traditions – you can clearly see that the tradition in your mind is top in your list of priorities!

I’ve been caught needing to buy a nice pie for a get together I didn’t account for when I go through this exercise! I generally know what is expected of me each year. Certain friends and family members have certain get-togethers.

It’s so easy to overlook those things, though!

Step 3: Allocate your budget to each of the priorities – in order

The final step is to allocate what you have to spend to each of the buckets. That’s it. You’ve got a list of traditions, parties, and people you’d like to spend money on this holiday season. You ordered them. Now assign dollar values to each!

Now the whole point was to uncover how much YOU have to spend on your children in relation to what you hoped to spend for the whole holiday. Are you happy with the number?

If you have money leftover to allocate, you can be more generous with the kids, or you could always just leave a buffer. Those toys need batteries that are easy to overlook!

If you hoped to spend a bit more on the kids, feel free to make the cuts you need to make. Is there an opportunity for a new tradition here? Like making something you’d buy in the past for a party with friends or your decorations?

Can you cut overall items for the list of expectations of you and your family?

Can you shave 5% off each item?

You can decide which options feel right, but by going through this exercise, you get to choose your financial priorities while also spending wisely yet keeping the spirit alive for the family!

This covers the overall financial budget, but you may not quite split your children’s allocations 50/50. Next, we’ll dive into some other considerations on a per-child budget plan.

Don’t forget to budget for Christmas dinners and gifts associated with the get-togethers!

2. Consider the Age of Your Children

When deciding what to spend on each kid, the age of your children is important. For example, teen gifts tend to be fewer but more expensive, but smaller children are quite happy with 30 tiny gifts instead.

My sister and I have a 10 year age gap. As a young adult, I worked at a drugstore. One year I bought beauty items that were marked down for the months leading up to Christmas. I put all of the goodies I collected in a simple basket to store them and wrapped that with crazy glittery bows.

We are now 20 years out from that, and she still talks about that as being the best present she ever got as a child. I’m sure I spent less than $20, but I also had fun finding the goodies and playing with her. It’s the simple things, right?!

There is no hard and fast rule here, but be sure to take the age and how they perceive gifts into account. While you want to make things even, sometimes even is in the eye of the beholder and completely mental!

The age of your children is a big factor in how your children perceive the gifts under the tree. Especially in comparison to their siblings!

Consider Your Children’s Needs

If you have a child in need of a bigger ticket item, it may warrant a split in your overall budget that isn’t balanced, too.

I recall a year where one of our teens wanted a laptop, and it made sense for schoolwork at the time. Yup. Before they were a norm at at school.

At the time, even inexpensive laptops could make a budget get out of hand. Normally, we spend $200 per child, but that year we spent around $400 on the laptop. We did not feel good about cutting the budget on the other kids that year, so we just bumped our overall Christmas up that $200 to make up the difference.

Over the next year or 2, the other kids ended up in a similar boat where we ended up going over to meet a need like a bicycle that doubled for commuting and another laptop down the road for another kid.

Eventually the amount you spend will average out if you make conscious efforts.

Of course, the unbalanced spending is easier if your kids are old enough. Old enough to set expectations and old enough to buy-in to your thought process here!

Consider Your Family’s Traditions

Part of what makes the holidays special are the traditions that go along with them. Baking together, the parties, the crafts your kids will make in school. All of these things make up what will be your children’s nostalgia years from now.

Why does this matter to how much to spend per child? Bake those things into your budget as a priority!

For example, I buy 1 set of pajamas EVERY year for all of our kids. Even the grown ones get a pair of pajamas still.

They know it, and the surprise comes through what design they will get. They also get the LifeSavers StoryBook candy plus other random candy. I got them every year growing up, and I like carrying that tradition on.

So as soon as I set the budget for each kid, a pair of pajamas and candy is baked into the budget. Generally this means $20-$30 for each kid, but I have bought more expensive pajamas for my step daughter from time to time. She enjoys the pajamas more than the boys, so her preferences are accounted for.

They generally roll their eyes at this tradition as teens and young adults, but they DO like them. They like the tradition, so going back to that priority conversation – it’s a priority for our family.

Christmas Budget Mantra: Give WITHOUT Debt and Stress

Rest assured that your kids do NOT want you to go into debt.

Be a different kind of statistic and come out of the other side of the holiday season with no additional debt! The inverse of what the financial gurus will be talking about in January.

-Renee McKinney

Emphasis the togetherness of the season, and be sure to look for places for lessons to help them understand that your love for them is not wrapped up in the number of toys under the tree or how much you spend.

An example here is that my 14 year old recently mentioned how his step-mother was “high maintenance” because of expectations he perceives that she places on his dad for her Christmas gift.

This was a lesson about Gary Chapman’s book on The 5 Love Languages available on Amazon or your local library if you haven’t heard of it.

Essentially, we all have ways that we intake love more than others, and the book walks you through identifying your love language, as well as, the language of those in your circle. There is even a kid’s specific version. I’ve read both, and the overall one is fine if you’re on the fence as we’re talking about budgeting for your children’s Christmas gifts. 🙂

If someone feels love through gifts versus how you may be more receptive to love through quality time with a loved one, it doesn’t make their way ‘bad’.

In my example, my son’s father just has to budget and have conversations around expectations, but it isn’t bad. It was a good conversation to have with my son.

You’ll likely find these types of lessons throughout the season and beyond as you are raising your little humans.

Just remember…. No debt, minimize stress!

How Much Should You Spend on Each Family Member for Christmas?

Going into the holiday season, I am faced with the age old dilemma – How much should I spend on Christmas gifts for family members?

While I would love to spend an unlimited amount on Christmas presents for everyone in my family, I realize that I need to keep my holiday spending in check.

How Much to Spend on Family Christmas Gifts

How much money you spend on each person depends on their relationship to you.

The closer the family member, the more you should spend, in general.

Here is a some examples:

  • $5 to $15 is a good range for family members you don’t see very often.
  • Between $25 to $40 is good for closer relatives like nephews and cousins.
  • For immediate family members like brothers, sisters, children, and parents, you could spend between $50 to $100.

The higher your budget, the more you can spend in each category.

Now that we have more wiggle room in our household budget, our kids get up to a few hundred dollars’ worth of gifts.

For a husband or wife, the sky’s the limit! HA (I’m only kind of kidding)

What About Your Grandparents?

I think the trickiest family members to know how much to spend on are grandparents….oftentimes grandparents are the people in your life who can already buy whatever they want on their own.

There is not really a set amount to spend on your grandma or grandpa, Nana or Papa or Poppy. Or your great grandfather!

I find that most grandparents don’t want kids or grandkids to spend a ton on them. Just try to make their gifts thoughtful.

My grandmother loves receiving recent framed pictures of the family. Picture calendars are also a great idea. You can get a great & thoughtful grandparent gift for $10-$30.

Here are some amazing gifts for grandma if you need some ideas.

The First Step in Budgeting for Holiday Gifts

Before you decide how to spend per person, you need a grand total that you’re willing to spend. As in, the MOST you want to spend this year.

If you’re not sure where to start, a good rule of thumb is to look at your previous years average spending.

If you have more spending cash this year, then set a total amount slighter higher than last year. If you want to spend less, then go lower.

Once you know the final amount AND the number of people you will be buying gifts for, then you can set a limit per person.

Your Christmas spending budget is easier to adhere to when you keep in mind an average amount to spend per person while shopping. If you keep this number in mind for each gift, you will avoid overspending.

Not only does this help you stay within budget this time of year, it also encourages you to find the best gifts at a great price.

Don’t forget that you can use sales and coupons to stretch your holiday budget. For this reason, Black Friday is a perfect time to do some of your Christmas shopping.

This is a great way to make sure everyone gets equivalent gifts according to their relationship to you.

For instance, you want to avoid buying something really expensive for your cousin when you didn’t spend very much on your brother, if that makes sense.

Example Christmas Shopping Budget

Let’s say you have $500 total to spend.

And let’s say you need to buy gifts for 10 people.

  1. Write down the names of everyone who you will be buying a gift for, in order of closeness in relation to you. This helps you get a good starting point.
  2. Write a dollar amount beside their name to represent the MOST you will spend on each present. Now here’s a completely made up example –
    • Husband – $100
    • Daughter – $75
    • Son – $75
    • Dad – $50
    • Mom – $50
    • Niece – $25
    • Niece – $25
    • Nephew – $25
    • Dog (really!) – $15
    • Best Friend – $35
    • Neighbor – $25
  3. Add it all up and see where it comes up to in total relation to your $500 budget and adjust from there.

You could do this on a spreadsheet but I find that a simple piece of paper works just fine. I’ve done it both ways!

Here are two resources you can use to set your Christmas budget:

How to Reduce the Amount You Spend on Gifts

If you are on a tight budget, do not worry. There are many gifts that can fit into a smaller budget.

traditions, guessing what can and cannot be done before January 18 – YASIA

Orthodox Christians on January 7 began Christmas holidays. This is the name given to the days between Christmas and Epiphany. The festive period, in which pagan and Christian traditions coexisted, lasts 12 days. At this time, it is customary to have fun and carol.

What can be done on Christmas time

On the first day of Christmas time, you should definitely visit your loved ones. Even in Rus’, the Yuletide period began with congratulations and visits. Remember to thank your loved ones for their love and kindness.

As with any other holiday, a meal is a necessary element of Christmas holidays. Despite the fact that Christmas time officially begins on January 7, many people start celebrating as early as the evening of the 6th. After the first star appears in the sky, you can invite your loved ones to the table and feed them with your culinary masterpieces. There should be at least 12 dishes.

Advent ends on January 6, which means that you can already drink a small amount of alcohol on Christmastide. However, try to control yourself, because at this time there are many entertainment events – such an atmosphere can cheer you up without alcohol.

On Holy days, every believer is simply obliged to attend church. If you do not have such an opportunity, then pray at home, because prayer will bring you results, no matter where and under what circumstances you say it. The main thing is that it comes from your heart.

The Church does not approve of ceremonies and rituals, especially if people do it on Orthodox holidays. Despite this, during the Yuletide period, many fortune tell for love, money, and even for the name of the future spouse. Such entertainment is popular among the fair sex, because every girl wants to know who will become her prince.

During this period, be sure to give and receive gifts so that this year there will be prosperity and abundance in your house. Be sure to accompany your congratulations with good wishes.

Congratulate all your acquaintances, even if you rarely communicate with some of them. Do not neglect this rule, and then you will have many new acquaintances, and friends will not leave you.

What not to do on Christmas time

Even on ordinary days, negative thoughts and feelings have a bad effect on our lives, and on Christmas time they can even become detrimental to you. Do not swear with others and do not say nasty things about anyone, otherwise you will be overcome by illness all year.

From Christmas until Epiphany, women are not allowed to gamble. It is believed that if a representative of the weaker sex violates this rule, then in the future not a single man will want to connect his life with her.

During this period no one should be denied help, especially children, poor and sick people. It is not necessary to donate fabulous amounts to funds, you can simply feed the homeless or give them some money.

Of course, during the Christmas season we will be forced to attend work and go about our daily business, but remember that hard work is not encouraged at this time. In Rus’, it was believed that during this period you can work only half a day, and it is advisable to spend the remaining time on going to church or having fun.

At this time, hunters should forget about their hobby for a while, because there is a sign that if a hunter goes to the forest during Christmas time, then misfortune may happen to him.

Divination

Divination is considered one of the main folk traditions in Svyatki – a custom that has been preserved since pre-Christian pagan times.

Fortune-telling by the ring

The golden ring must be put in a glass of water and left overnight in the cold (you can take it out to the balcony). If there is no balcony or a thaw outside, a refrigerator freezer will do. The result will appear in the morning. Frozen water without tubercles means childlessness. If bumps form on the surface of the ice, you will have sons. Pits on the frozen surface means that girls will be born.

Fortune telling on wax

Wax is melted in a mug, milk is poured into a saucer and placed at the threshold of an apartment or house. With the words: “Brownie, my master, come under the threshold to drink milk, eat wax,” melted wax is poured into milk. Then they carefully observe what is happening. If you see a frozen cross, they are waiting for illness in the new year. If a flower – there will be a wedding or a loved one will meet. If the beast – some kind of enemy will appear. If the wax flows in strips, roads and crossings are coming. Asterisks mean good luck in the service or study. Human figure – find a friend.

Fortune-telling on a mirror

This most “real” fortune-telling is performed strictly on moonlit evenings in the yard or in a room where light penetrates. The best time for this divination is midnight, when the power of the moon is at its maximum. A large mirror is placed on the table, against it – a small one, along the edges – two candles and they begin to direct the mirrors. When 12 mirrors are reflected, look at the images in the last of them. When you see a symbol or a face, you must immediately say: “Chur, this place!” The table must be covered with a clean white or completely black tablecloth – these colors have a protective effect, acting as a talisman for fortunetellers. It is also important to remain completely silent.

Divination on burning paper

Write the name of your loved one, then put the note on a saucer and set it on fire. If the paper does not burn to the end, the desire that you associate with this person will come true.

Fortune telling by shadow

It is necessary to position yourself in front of a smooth light wall. If necessary, it can be hung with a white sheet. Fortune telling by shadow should be started in full concentration on a question that can concern any area of \u200b\u200blife. You need to turn the plate over and put a crumpled paper sheet on its bottom. A burning candle is placed so that a well-visible shadow forms on the wall. Already at this stage, the fortuneteller can see the first image, indicating the root cause of the problem. The paper should be set on fire. It is necessary to carefully observe the shadows appearing on the wall. Each of them contains the answer to the question.

How much money to give to a teenager and what they spend it on

Children

And they didn’t become drug addicts

Yulia Medvedeva

mother of two teenagers

“I go without a hat because I don’t have a normal hat! my eldest daughter told me. “Mom, give me money!”

When my daughters, Irina and Yulia, were 9 and 11 years old, we started giving them money — 500 R per month. They spent it on sweets and trifles, and asked for the rest from us. This is the constant: “I need to buy a new mascara”, “Mom, can I order a cover on Aliexpress for myself?”, “My phone is buggy, how will I go to school with it?” and so on.

Spending on children has always been an unpredictable item in my budget for me: no matter how you try to put in a margin, you will still spend more.

The worst thing was shopping together. When every question is: “What will you wear this with?” or “Are you sure you really need it?” – could lead to a quarrel and a public scandal.

In short, I’m tired. And when the girls were 14 and 16 years old, I saw someone post on Facebook about how parents give student children a monthly amount for all expenses, and decided that schoolchildren are no worse than students. So I started an experiment.

How much money we began to give and for what

Once I talked to both daughters and offered them a scheme: we calculate monthly expenses and on the first day of each month I give them this amount. Then they plan their own budget, go shopping, save for large purchases and don’t touch their parents.

We decided that food and hygiene will remain for adults, and Irina and Yulia will pay for everything else.

Currency and prices

During the experiment, we lived in Italy, so we counted all expenses in euros and at local prices. For the convenience of readers, I have recalculated everything in rubles, but the prices may still seem unusual. And six years have passed since then: the cost of many goods and services has changed. This does not affect the essence of the experiment, but do not be surprised.

To calculate the required amount, we divided all expenses into two categories: monthly and all other. We added up all the other expenses for the year and divided them into 12 months. The resulting amount was added to the monthly expenses and thus received the desired figure.

The monthly expenses for each daughter included: transport (22 €), communications (10 €), entertainment and sweets (10 €), cosmetics and small expenses for socks (18 €). Total 60 €⁣ (4774 Р).

We calculated the rest for the year: clothes (600 €), gifts for friends and family (240 €), gadgets (240 €). Total €1080 per year = 90 €⁣ ( 7161 R), per month.

Irina recorded the decisions in a notebook to make it easier to remember and analyze later

To calculate how much we spend on clothes, we figured out how much and what we buy during the year. The list turned out like this: a coat, a jacket, a windbreaker, 2 pairs of boots, a pair of shoes and a pair of sandals, 3 pairs of sneakers, 4 pairs of jeans, about 6 jumpers, about 20 T-shirts, about 5 dresses, about five shorts and a bridge, three sets of school clothes , a pair of hats and scarves, gloves, belts, a pair of backpacks. We looked at the prices in our favorite stores, calculated the approximate amount and rounded up for unforeseen cases.

The amount for gifts was calculated as follows: the number of loved ones was multiplied by the approximate price of one gift and by two more, because it is customary for us to give large gifts for the New Year and birthday.

The amount for gadgets was calculated based on past experience: approximately one phone in 2-3 years. At the same time, we agreed that computers, laptops and other large equipment remain in the family budget.

The total amount on hand turned out to be 150 €, or 9560 R, per person per month. This amount was similar to what I actually spent on children from the family budget, so we did not bargain and agreed the first time.

Results of the first month

I started giving money to my daughters from January 1 — 150 € each. At first, we were all a little scared. I was afraid that they would spend everything on drugs, booze and in-app purchases. Yulia and Irina were afraid that they would not be able to manage their money sensibly and would find themselves in a difficult situation.

In the first month, they bought almost nothing. When we went to the traditional sale together to update our wardrobe, we both spent about 20€ each. But they went to the drawing store three times a month and bought themselves paints, canvases and some special markers, for which I always felt sorry for the money, but they turned out to be very necessary and important.

How to teach a child to save

Yulia installed a program on her phone to manage her budget

When her daughters went to school after the holidays, it turned out that Irina needed to buy some stationery and a book for study. She came to me and asked me to add the cost of stationery and books. We thought and added 25 €. From February, I began to give them 175 €⁣ (13,924 R).

At the end of the first month, both had about €50 left. For a month, I did not hear a single request to buy anything. We had fun, like girlfriends, went shopping and each of us paid from our wallet. The youngest, Irina, with a clear conscience, bought a bunch of sweets and treated us all. Everyone was satisfied. The experiment continued.

Impressions of the 4 months of the experiment

First of all, I was pleased that relations in my family had improved. There were no more reproaches for excessive spending, resentment for the fact that someone did not buy something for someone. Shopping has turned from torture into pleasure, and we have fewer reasons for conflict.

It became easier for me to plan my budget. I had a specific and fixed amount of expenses for children, and I knew that a suddenly torn jacket or a broken phone would not jump out at me. For such cases, we agreed on lending, but both daughters began to take things more carefully.

How to talk to loved ones about money

Sometimes it seemed to me that they were doing everything wrong, and I wanted to intervene or at least give advice. But I stopped myself because I understood that this would ruin the whole experiment. The first two months were the hardest. Then I got used to and stopped counting how many lip glosses my youngest daughter bought, and tried not to think why the older one needed a new power supply for the computer and what happened to the old one.

Once they bought a remote control typewriter and a new dog house, although no one asked them and this expense item is not included in their budget. On March 8, the youngest gave me a bottle of perfume.

Shopping for girls: cosmetics, fashionable clothes and toys – something that mom always felt sorry for the money for

When we discussed where we would like to go on vacation, the daughters seriously argued that they would participate with their money in the general expenses for the trip. I realized that they have become more serious about money and, in general, have matured over these months.

This is what they themselves said about our experiment after 4 months.

Irina, 14 years old: “It’s convenient for me that I don’t have to ask my mother for anything. I spend mostly on clothes, phone, entertainment, sweets. I have more clothes, I started buying more of what I like. Just before, about the same amount of money was spent, but somehow less often and not like that. Mom bought what she needed, not what I needed. I didn’t feel that I could go and buy myself some delicious treats. And now I can. I save a little, and I have a minimum of 100 € just in case, and this amount is gradually increasing.

Benefits of Before and After School Programs For Children

Before and after school programs are important for providing a safe place for children to be surrounded by quality care and they are important for providing working parents with peace of mind. Gone are the days where parents are faced with limited resources, leaving them scrambling to organize their schedules. Many parents work long hours, making it difficult to match their kid’s schedules to their own. Before and after school programs combat this issue by providing expert care to your kids, even outside of school session hours.

However, the benefits of quality before and after school programs are far more reaching than simply providing a watchful eye. Here are some of the benefits that child care programs can offer your school-age children.

Higher Test Scores

Researchers suggest that over half of students participating in a before and after school program showed improved reading and math skills Additionally, the more often a student attends the program, the more likely they are to show academic improvements. Another study that followed low-income students found that those who were enrolled in daily after school care performed significantly better on standardized tests and showed better work ethic than their classmates who stayed home alone. These results have been proven to be ongoing. Students who attended after-school programs in grade school or middle school had higher rates of high school class attendance rates and better grades. Not only were drop-out rates lower in kids who had attended before and after school programs, but those kids were more likely to engage in extracurricular school activities and take on leadership responsibilities.

Emotional and Social Health

One study suggests that students who participate in a before and after school program displayed less anger and shyness, and had better control of their emotions and higher self-esteem. More exposure to social interactions leaves your kids with the tools they need to build healthy relationships with others. They will learn how to make and keep friends, how to bond over common interests, and how to work together with people who may be different from them.

Less Risky Behavior

As children enter middle school, they begin to be exposed to drugs, alcohol, and sexual activity. An after-school program offers a positive outlet for energy and can provide positive adult role models. Studies show that participating in an after-school program dramatically reduces drug use and criminal behavior in youth. Additionally, studies have suggested that teens who do not have an afterschool program are three times more likely to skip class, use illicit drugs and alcohol, and engage in sexual activity.

With all the benefits that extend beyond basic childcare, you can’t afford to not send your children a quality before and after school program, like the ones offered by your local childcare center, Just For Kids! Our programs are designed with parents and kids in mind. We want to encourage child development while understanding and sympathizing with parents’ busy schedules. Therefore, we’ve extended our programs to hours beyond typical school sessions. We offer “no school days” childcare. Enroll your kids online, or contact us for more information today!

What did Soviet children do after school? ★ Best photos!

11 PHOTO

1. In addition to school, many Soviet children attended hobby groups. They were partly about having fun outside of school, but they also helped the kids decide what they wanted to do in life.

2. The first of these hobby clubs emerged in Moscow and then in other Soviet cities in the early 1920s. They were called “pioneer houses” or “pioneer palaces”. In a sense, these were real palaces, converted from the mansions of former merchants, which were expropriated after the Bolshevik revolution 1917 years old. The palaces of the pioneers were described by Soviet magazines as “laboratories for educating a new generation of cultured citizens of the socialist motherland”.

3. Before the war, only large cities such as Kharkov, Leningrad, Kiev and Taganrog had houses and palaces of pioneers, but in the 1950s a full building boom began throughout the country. Within a few years, more than 2,000 pioneer houses were built, and by the end of the 1980s, there were already 3,800 of them. And each of them had dozens of different clubs.

4. One of the largest was the Moscow House of Pioneers, which opened near Chistye Prudy in 1936 (although it later moved to Sparrow Hills in the 1960s). Just a year later, more than 170 clubs were opened in it, in which 3,000 children took part. Some of these children went on to become famous directors, including Alexander Mitta, Stanislav Rostotsky and Rolan Bykov. Members of these clubs could, among other things, learn to draw, dance or study literature.

5. Much attention was paid to technical seminars. In almost every Soviet city, children could join clubs and groups of young inventors specializing in aircraft modeling, rail and water transport, communications, photography, or cinema.

6. There was no division by gender, but girls were more likely to attend needlework, ballet and theater classes than engineering classes. Carpentry lessons were more popular among boys, although sometimes the opposite was true.

7. Teenagers who were passionate about cars could not only learn about the design of cars, but also drive them on their own. Some pioneer houses even had go-kart and motocross tracks.

8. And if there were young motorists, then, of course, there should have been clubs for young traffic inspectors. They wore navy blue uniforms for classes and studied traffic safety.

9. There were also numerous sports clubs for children, including many with a military and patriotic focus. In addition to sports schools, clubs for young snipers, paratroopers, cynologists, as well as navigation and tourist clubs were created. And it’s not about learning how to book a hotel. Instead, the children went hiking and rafting down the rivers.

10. And after Yuri Gagarin’s famous journey into space, young cosmonaut clubs appeared in various Soviet cities. In them, teenagers studied the theoretical aspects of rocket design and the history of space exploration, and also underwent flight training on simulators.

Kids stretching routine: Stretching for Young Athletes – Injury Prevention

Stretching for Young Athletes – Injury Prevention

Sports participation is a leading cause of injury in young people. Sports injuries can have both short- and long-term consequences. An injury can immediately sideline a player, putting both the fun of the sport and the health benefits of exercise on hold. An injury that keeps a child out of the game over the long term can increase the chances of gaining weight, becoming less fit in general and even developing arthritis in later years. It may not always be possible to avoid injury when playing sports, especially physical contact sports, but athletes can help protect themselves by preparing before and after a game or practice session by warming up muscles and then stretching.

Benefits of Warming Up and Stretching For Young Athletes

Whether the activity is skiing, running or playing a group sport like basketball or football, stretching keeps the young athlete’s body flexible. Flexibility can cut down on injuries, especially at the knee and ankle. Stretching again after activity should also be part of an injury prevention plan. Before any kind of physical activity, including stretching, the body needs to be warmed up with some light exercise. Walking, running in place or doing jumping jacks for a few minutes will warm up muscles.

Warm Up Stretches Before Workout or Playing Sports

Once muscles are warm, young athletes are ready for these stretches, each of which should be repeated three to six times:

  • Forward lunge. Kneel on one knee. Place the other leg forward at a right angle (knee right over ankle). Lean forward to feel the stretch in the front of the thigh. Hold for 20 seconds. Repeat several times. Switch legs.
  • Side lunge. Stand with feet far apart. Bend one leg and lean toward that knee. Hold for 20 seconds. Repeat several times, then bend and lean toward the opposite leg.
  • Standing quad (thigh) stretch. Use a wall or chair for support. The child should raise one foot behind him/her. Using the hand on the same side of the body, he/she should pull the foot up toward the buttocks, stretching the thigh. Keep the knees close. Hold for 20 seconds, then release. Repeat several times. Switch legs.
  • Seat straddle lotus. Have the child sit down with the soles of the feet together in front of him/her, pressing knees to the floor. Place the forearms on the inside of the knees and push down as the child leans toward the ground. Lean forward from the hips. Hold for 20 seconds. Repeat several times.
  • Side seat straddle. Sit on the floor, legs spread apart. With both hands, hold onto the shin of one leg. Lean forward, chin to knee. Hold for 20 seconds. Repeat. Switch legs.
  • Seat stretch. Sit with legs straight out in front. Holding shins or ankles, lean forward from the hips. Bring the chin toward the knees. Hold for 20 seconds. Repeat several times.
  • Knees to chest. Lying on the floor, bend knees and bring them to the chest. Rock gently. Hold for 20 seconds. Repeat several times.

After every workout, repeat these same stretches to help the body cool down and increase flexibility while muscles are still warm.

How Often should young athletes stretch?

  • Before starting a game, sport or practice, all athletes should warm up the muscles with five to 10 minutes of a light version of exercise. For example, to warm up for basketball, do some relaxed shooting; for jogging, walk. A warm-up will increase blood flow to the muscles and tendons, which makes them less likely to be injured.
  • After exercise, cool down for 10 minutes by decreasing the intensity of the activity. Cooling down helps the muscles eliminate waste products and decreases soreness. Gently stretch the muscles used in the activity to help relax them.

How Many Times a Week Should You Stretch?

Young athletes should stretch at least three times a week, but only after they have warmed up or after a workout, when muscles are loose and relaxed. Stretching before warming up does not reduce the risk for injury during a sport, and fitness experts such as the American College of Sports Medicine, no longer recommend it.

How Long to Hold a Stretch: Increases Flexibility

  • When stretching, hold each stretch (no bouncing or jerking) for 20 seconds. Don’t stretch to the point of pain.
  • Repeat stretches two to three times for each muscle group.
  • There’s no prize for finishing a stretching routine first, so encourage kids to take it slow to get all the benefit from the stretch.

Stretching (for Teens) – Nemours KidsHealth

A balanced exercise routine includes
aerobicactivity, strength training, and stretching. Stretching not only feels good, but may help prevent muscle injuries.

Warming Up

It’s important to warm up your body before any physical activity. Warming up for about 5–10 minutes goes a long way toward preparing the body for exercise.

Warming up:

  • increases your heart rate and respiratory rate
  • increases muscle temperature
  • boosts the amount of blood and oxygen delivered to your muscles
  • prepares the body for a workout

A warm-up can even be the activity you are about to do but at a slower pace. For example, if you’re about to go for a run, warm up with walking or a light jog. If you’re going to go for a swim, do a couple of slow warm-up laps. If you play a sport, focus on the muscles that are used for your particular sport. For instance, if you play baseball, you might warm up your shoulder with light throwing.

Dynamic stretching uses many muscle groups in a sport specific manner and can be part of your warm-up. Besides warming up the muscles that will be used in the activity, dynamic stretching allows for full range of motion of the joints.

Stretching the Right Way

Stretching used to be considered the main activity before a workout. But traditional, or “static,” stretching may lead to decreased muscle strength and performance, especially if your muscles are not warmed up enough. Stretching cold muscles can lead to injury.

To get the most out of warming up and stretching, try dynamic stretches before and static stretching after a workout.

Stretching properly may reduce muscle injuries and improve athletic performance. It also increases:

  • flexibility
  • joint range and motion
  • blood flow to muscles

Here are some tips on how to stretch properly:

Stop if it hurts. Stretching should never hurt. If you have reached a point in your stretch where it hurts, pull back to where you still feel a stretch but can hold the stretch comfortably.

Hold each stretch for 10–30 seconds. Holding a stretch for any less won’t sufficiently lengthen the muscle. Holding a stretch too long may overstretch muscles. Overstretching may cause injury and decrease performance. Stretch the muscles slowly and don’t force it.

Don’t bounce. Bouncing while stretching may injure the muscle you’re stretching.

Remember to breathe. Don’t hold your breath when you stretch. Inhale slowly and relax into the stretch as you breathe out.

Stretch both sides. You may be more flexible on one side, but try to do equal stretching on both sides. Big differences in flexibility may lead to injury.

Stretch regularly. To maintain flexibility, stretch at least 3 days a week.

Cooling Down

You need to slow down your body after a workout or exercise. Do 5–10 minutes of gentle movement and stretching to help your body recover from a workout.

Your cool-down routine should include gentle movement and stretching. Cooling down and stretching at the end of a workout helps you to:

  • slow your heart rate and breathing
  • reduce the chance of feeling dizzy or lightheaded
  • relax and feel the benefits of your workout

Whether you’re new to working out or a lifelong athlete, be sure to include a good before-and-after routine for better performance and recovery.

Stretching for children – stretching lessons for children with twine

Stretching for children

Stretching is necessary not only for those children who are professionally involved in dancing, gymnastics or other sports. Even for those children who do not want to take places on pedestals, stretching will bring a lot of benefits:

  • will help to acquire a beautiful correct posture;
  • will help develop coordination of movements;
  • will teach you to control your body;
  • will strengthen muscles and ligaments;
  • forms a beautiful slender figure.

Children often want to achieve success in sports – sit on the splits, make a bridge, spin the wheel. At a younger age, muscles and ligaments are very malleable and easily influenced, so it is easier and easier for children to translate their plans into reality. The main thing is to draw up a training plan and conduct training only under the supervision of an experienced trainer. The elasticity of the muscles can also play a negative role, because they are very easy to injure. Do not stretch the child without the appropriate knowledge and practice. What will happen in the stretching class? The lesson takes place in several stages, during which a warm-up (warm-up) is carried out, a set of stretching and relaxation exercises is performed. This approach allows you to achieve results quickly and with maximum safety.

Stretching for beginners

Children’s stretching is an opportunity to raise the child’s authority, help him to believe in himself, to make sure that everything is possible. Be sure to contact professional teachers for stretching, especially if the child has not previously played sports. The reason is not only that the twine stretch for children must be carried out correctly. Not every child is ready to completely immerse himself in work, obey the coach and follow all his instructions. The task of the coach is to find an approach to each of the students, to become not a friend for him, but a mentor who does not force, but helps.

What do the kids do during the Cosmo Dance stretching class, since we don’t just do the splits? Our students work on the muscles of the whole body, stretch their legs, back, arms, gain flexibility. We will teach you how to perform a variety of exercises and tricks that young athletes are so eager to master. Now bridges and wheels will not be something inaccessible!

How can I sign up for split and general stretching classes for children at Cosmo Dance? Choose a convenient time for training and a branch of the school that is more convenient for you to get to. You can visit trial classes with different trainers in order to find a teacher that is most appropriate in character and approach for your child.

Split and general stretching for children in Cosmo Dance means treating young athletes as if they were adults, attention and respect for students, an individual approach to each of them. This is an attentive staff and a high level of training of our teachers, comfortable rooms for training and relaxation. This is a place where your child will gain not only the ability to control his body, but also real friends, a great mood and energize. We are waiting for you in class.

Best Places to Take Kids in Concord

There’s something for everyone in Concord. The city offers wonderful attractions, delightful parks, newly built shopping areas, and a healthy dose of small-town charm. Families can’t go wrong spending time in the area—about 30 minutes east of Oakland.

Where to Play with Kids in Concord:

Matteo’s Dream Playground

This all-abilities playground allows all kids to play and make believe in the spacious play area. With a tot lot and a big kid playground, the structures are made from a wood-like material and feature tunnels, bridges, ramps, slides, turrets, and other features to spark imaginary play.

Meadow Home Spray Park

This free splash park is open on afternoons and provides a playful space to cool off from the heat. Mixed-age families will appreciate the water features in the park. A baby/toddler area includes a cute slide and adorable statues that use lower water pressure, while the big kid area has a pirate ship, water-dumping palm trees, and soaring water fountains.

Vertical Climber at The Veranda

This climbing structure allows kids to climb up and around in a safe and interactive environment. The modern jungle, evocative of lily pads suspended in space, is suitable for toddlers to grade schoolers.

Pixieland Amusement Park

Families in search of pint-sized thrills will enjoy this pay-per-ride theme park. Check out the carousel, dragon roller coaster, teacups, and other child-sized rides at the outdoor fun park. Some say it’s a more modern, smaller version of Children’s Fairyland.

Rockin’ Jump

Rockin’ Jump is the operator of several Bay Area trampoline centers, including a location in Concord (formerly Sky High Sports). Come to jump leaps and bounds on the trampolines, but families can also expect: a stunt bag to bounce or swing into, a dodgeball room, an aerial skills space, an arcade, and a 28-foot rock-climbing wall. Put Rockin’ Jump on your list of places to visit when school is closed.

Six Flags Hurricane Harbor

For a special outing, this mega waterpark is sure to be memorable! From daring waterslides to a tot-friendly splash area, the park is a great fit for littles to teens and adults, too; though, children who are 48 inches or taller will have the greatest access to water rides.

Unique Family-friendly Outings in Concord:

West Wind Drive-in Movie Theater

Pile into the car and go to a drive-in movie theater – a rarity these days! Movies are shown throughout the year and typically feature the same blockbusters as indoor theaters. Arrive early to purchase tickets, park the car, and grab a bite from the concession stand. Pro tip: bring camp chairs and blankets.

Observation Area & Playground at Buchanan Field Airport

Watch airplanes soar into the sky at Buchanan Field. The viewing area features a sweet airport-themed play area, a miniature runway, bleachers, and shaded picnic tables. Plus, it’s fully fenced!

Where to Eat with Kids in Concord:

The Veranda

There’s no shortage of dining options at The Veranda. The upscale and new-ish destination has choices that kids and parents will enjoy for lunch, dinner, and dessert. My family likes Super Duper Burger, Mikuni, Nick the Greek, Popbar, and Angel & Devil. For a pseudo-date, order food to go and then enjoy it together while your kids explore and play on the aforementioned vertical climber.

Latinx Cuisine

From Mexican to Niguaruan, Concord has an abundance of restaurants that serve scrumptious offerings from Latinx countries. My family enjoys dishes from Mercado del Sol. Though with so many options, why not try them all?

Todos Santos Plaza Farmers’ Market

Shop local at the farmers market in downtown Concord. Browse fresh produce, hot food stands, and sweet pastries on two days: Tuesdays year round and Thursdays from April through October. On Thursdays, there’s also live music and a green space for kids to run around.

Skipolini’s Pizza

Everyone has their own idea of what makes the best pizza (my vote is for Chicago-style deep dish pizza), but Skipolini’s is a local favorite. You may have heard of its Prego pizza that’s rumored to jump-start labor. Whether or not you’re expecting, the Concord location is worth a try, especially if you can sit outside on the large outdoor patio.

Side Gate Brewery

This brewery and beer garden has a beautiful, fenced-in outdoor space to enjoy a drink or meal from the rotating food trucks. You’ll love the chill vibe and the fact that kids and dogs are welcome.

Where to Score Points with Tweens and Teens:

Dave & Busters

Tweens can hit the massive arcade, play virtual reality games, or watch a sporting event at the Concord location. A parent must be on site, but adults can give kids their space by spending time at the on-site bar. Website >

The Flipper Room

Kick it old school at this pinball arcade. With 30 pinball games, there’s a big opportunity for fun. Bring plenty of quarters because games are pay to play. Don’t get thrown off by the framing business in the front of the buildings; the owners also run a custom framing center. Website >

Round1 Bowling & Amusement

There are so many activities under one roof at Round1 in Concord. Kids can choose from bowling, arcade games, karaoke, billiards, ping pong, and darts. Read about Whitney’s visit to the Round1 arcade with kids; she recommends visiting in the morning.

Selfie Wrld

Selfie Wrld has various installations where visitors can pose and create content for social platforms like Instagram or TikTok. Think of small rooms with lots of colors, props, and neon signs galore. It may not be a parent’s cup of tea, but sometimes you just “gotta do it for the gram.”

Parents “with consent” and children without trial: what is behind the amendments to the Family Code

The authors of the introduced bill declare that its main goal is to strengthen the legal status of children in our country and protect the “respectable” family from unlawful interference in its affairs. If the amendments are adopted, this will be one of the most ambitious reforms in the history of family law since 1995 in general, and child-parent relations in particular. With a more detailed consideration and analysis of the document, the question of whether children in Russia will live as well as the legislator promises, and whether the number of guarantees for the protection of their rights is really increasing, remains debatable.

Protection of the family from “destruction”

In addition to intricacies in legal technique and the introduction of a number of new concepts, the draft law provides for a significant increase in the number of principles on which the family should be built, for example, the authority of parents, the presumption of their good faith, the independence of spouses in making decisions about their lives, common family traditions and values, mutual rights and responsibilities to each other, and others.

Known to everyone since childhood, the principles of “be patient, fall in love”, “beat means love” and the method of “carrot and stick” received a new life and now sound like “the inadmissibility of destroying or creating a threat of destruction of a family against the will of its members, including in the case of protection of the rights and legitimate interests of individual family members who, due to their helpless state or age, cannot protect themselves on their own. In conjunction with the release of third parties who became aware of a threat to the life or health of a child, a violation of his rights and protection of legitimate interests, from the obligation to report this to the guardianship and guardianship authority, guardianship and guardianship authorities from the obligation to appoint a representative to protect the rights and interests children in the event of disagreements between parents and children, depriving a child of the right to go to court from the age of 14 in case of violation by parents of his rights and legitimate interests, and the introduction of any negative consequences only for cases of misconduct of parents, established by a court decision, it seems that there are no tools left to protect the rights of children from abuse and (or) self-exclusion of parents from their upbringing (for example, in the case of issuing consent to it to other persons before the child reaches 18 years of age). In pursuance of this principle, it is proposed to abolish such grounds for the removal of a child as a direct threat to the life of the child or his health, which indirectly indicates that the family is becoming a completely autonomous and closed cell of society, and the choice of methods for raising children belongs to the full discretion of the parents, intervention in cases which are possible only in extreme cases.

The new principles actually indicate that parents are now allowed everything in relation to their children, until the court decides otherwise. The right to apply to it is vested in a limited number of persons and only on grounds specified in the law. If no one takes legal action, the parents are presumed to be in good faith even when they do not pay child support, abuse or treat their children. It is forbidden to take children from such families without a court decision. Until its adoption, children will continue to live with their parents, which is of particular concern in conjunction with the exclusion of the provisions on the inadmissibility of exercising parental rights in conflict with the interests of children, as well as on the obligation of parents not to harm the physical and mental health of the child, his moral development, on the prohibition of the implementation of unacceptable methods of raising children (disdainful, cruel, rude, degrading treatment, abuse or exploitation of children).

Exclusion of the principle of prompt response to violation of children’s rights upon notification of any persons who become aware of this, as a basic guarantee of ensuring the safety of the life and health of a child in a family, as a result, can lead to irreparable consequences and destroy any fate, and make children completely invisible to society and the state behind the always “right” parents, who “know better”.

Children and abroad

The draft law proposes to exclude a direct indication of the child’s right to communicate with parents if they live in different states, limiting themselves to general formulations. Against the backdrop of the large-scale relocation of our citizens to other states for the country, the unceasing growth in the number of divorces, and regularly arising disputes about international abduction or retention of children, they retain the right to maintain personal relations and direct contacts with both parents on a regular basis, as guaranteed by the Convention on children’s rights is critical. Together with the possibility of delegating the exercise of parental rights to other people, this can lead in a number of situations to a complete break in relations and alienation of the attachment of a child and a parent living abroad.

One family – one school

The current legislation grants full and half brothers and sisters the right to study in one school. The draft law proposes to retain the right to preferential admission to an educational organization only for those of them who live in the same family and have a common place of residence. As a result, this can lead to the fact that in the case of separation of parents and not communicating with each other, the brothers and sisters who remained to live with each of them will also lose any connection, the only place to maintain which for many of them was the school.

Parents “with consent”

The bill gives parents the right to involve relatives or other persons in the upbringing of the child. Such participation is voluntary, carried out at the request or with the consent of the parents, and does not require mandatory documentation. First of all, of course, we are talking about grandparents with whom the child lives, for example, during the summer holidays or when the parents are on a business trip, treatment (rehabilitation) or studying in another city or country.

In addition, the bill proposes to provide an opportunity to exercise the powers of a legal representative, if necessary, by other persons by issuing a notarized consent (for relatives and in-laws) or by submitting a written application for the appointment of a guardian (custodian) for a child indicating a specific person to the guardianship and guardianship authorities. Such consent is not absolute, it cannot include the child’s departure from the Russian Federation, the child’s acceptance of citizenship of another state or the adoption of a child, filing a lawsuit in his interests with a claim for deprivation or restriction of parental rights, transactions with the child’s property or from his name, issuance of powers of attorney on behalf of the child. In addition, it is impossible to give informed voluntary consent to medical intervention to provide a child with medical care (specialized and planned) and to refuse it, unless otherwise expressly provided in such consent.

Most of the questions are raised by the proposed form for empowering such persons with the authority to protect the rights and legitimate interests of the child – consent, and not a power of attorney, which, unlike it, can be revoked at any time. The bill speaks of the revocation of consent only in relation to the situation of its issuance by both parents, without specifying how disputes between them will be resolved if one of them refuses to withdraw it. The very term for which consent can be given – up to the age of 18 years of the child – is not consistent with the concept of “temporary nature” of cases of impossibility of exercising parental rights, which the amendment was originally intended to resolve. In practice, this can lead to situations similar to the well-known case of a girl who, with her parents alive and not deprived of parental rights, for the first 6 years of her life, lived unreasonably in a perinatal center – now parents, on quite legal grounds, will be able to entrust (and actually transfer) the implementation of their parental rights in relation to the child to unauthorized persons from birth until he reaches the age of majority. To what extent this is consistent with the right of a child to live and be brought up in a family, to communicate with both parents equally, and with other close relatives, remains unclear.

The draft law also proposes to give parents the right to apply to the guardianship and guardianship authorities with a written application for the appointment of a guardian for the child, indicating a specific person in the event of their death or for a period when, for valid reasons, they will not be able to exercise parental rights (business trip, rotational work , prolonged illness, being in custody, serving a sentence of imprisonment, etc.). Such an application must be submitted jointly, in case of disputes – they are subject to resolution in court. Thus, potentially it is the court that will decide who to appoint the child as a guardian, how to overcome the court decision and whether this can be done in principle in the future with the mutual consent of the parents – the bill says nothing. Since the subappointment of a guardian is also not provided for, in the event of a potential guardian’s refusal to accept such an obligation or his death, the situation of placing a child in a family of interested people will remain unresolved.

Removal of a child from the family

Today, the guardianship and guardianship authority has the right to immediately remove a child from the family in case of a direct threat to his life and health on the basis of an act drawn up by him. At the same time, as a rule, it is not social workers who take children from families, but internal affairs officers, most often at night at the request of neighbors in situations of drinking alcoholic beverages, debauchery, and violence. Only after the child has been taken away and placed in a medical organization, the guardianship and guardianship authority is obliged to ensure its temporary placement in a family or social institution and apply to the court with a claim for deprivation or restriction of parental rights. The law allocates 7 days for the entire procedure, if during this time the guardianship and guardianship authority does not go to court, the child must be returned to the parents.

The draft law provides for two grounds for the removal of a child from parents – a court decision on deprivation or restriction of parental rights / on the cancellation of adoption, which has entered into force (that is, until this moment the child continues to live in a family in which he may be in danger), and also an act of the body of guardianship and guardianship on the removal of the guardian (not the parents) from the performance of the assigned duties and the removal of the child. Thus, the removal of a child is no longer an immediate response to a violation of his rights.

Temporary protection of the child

In other cases, the child is entitled to “interim measures of protection”, which are applied in the presence of circumstances that made it impossible for the parents to exercise their rights temporarily and, therefore, threaten the life of the child, and terminate as soon as the specified circumstances. If it is possible for parents to exercise their rights, despite the presence of a threat of harm to the life or health of the child, these measures are not subject to application in exactly the same way as they are not subject to application if it is possible to transfer the child to another parent or other legal representative. Such measures are applied on the basis of an act drawn up by the social protection authorities, the police or guardianship and guardianship authorities.

As a priority measure of protection, the draft law allocates the transfer of a child under temporary protection to persons who have previously been issued a notarized consent or who have been appointed by their parents as guardians on the basis of a written application, in the absence of such a child’s grandparents, and only then to other relatives, in-laws, stepfather, stepmother or other actual educators.

Alimony belongs to the child

The bill finally eliminates the problem of selective enforcement and clearly defines that the parties to the maintenance agreement are the parents (even after the child reaches 14 years old), and the maintenance belongs to the child, even if real estate is transferred to their account. The rights to it must be registered in the name of the child, and not his parent, although he is the recipient of alimony.

MOSCOW, July 13 – RIA Novosti. Minor teenagers can independently conclude an employment contract upon reaching 16 years old, and sometimes at a younger age, told RIA Novosti in Rostrud. So, for example, 15-year-old teenagers can be involved in light work, but without harm to their health. If a teenager left school without receiving a basic general education, or continues to study after being expelled from school, then work should not be at the expense of mastering the program. Fourteen-year-old children who have already received a general education can also be involved in light work, but in this case one parents and guardianship authorities must give written consent to this. If a teenager of this age is still studying, then he will be able to work only in his free time from school. If one of the parents opposes the conclusion of an employment contract with a child under 15 years old, then the opinion of the teenager himself and the guardianship and guardianship authority is taken into account. Children under 14 years old can work in the cinema, theater, participate in concerts or circus performances, if the work does not harm health and moral development. This also requires the permission of one of the parents and the guardianship authority. The contract for such a child is signed by a parent or guardian. In Rostrud, they recalled that before concluding an employment contract, a minor must undergo a medical examination, and in the future – to undergo it every year until the age of majority. At the first employment, the employer is obliged to issue him a work book and submit data to the Pension Fund for registering the child in the personalized accounting system. Minors cannot be involved in work with harmful and dangerous working conditions or underground work, as well as establish a probationary period for them. In addition, they should not be hired for work that may be harmful to health or moral development: for example, gambling and nightclubs. In addition, employers should be aware of the reduced working hours for minors: up to 16 years old – no more than 24 hours a week , and from 16 to 18 years – no more than 35 hours. When combining work with study, the child’s working time should be reduced by at least half. At the same time, the working shift of children from 14 to 15 years old cannot exceed four hours, from 15 to 16 years old – five hours, from 16 to 18 years old – seven hours. When combining work with study, the duration of the shift is reduced to two and a half hours – for children from 14 to 16 years old and up to four hours – for those who are from 16 to 18 years old.

Society, Federal Service for Labor and Employment (Rostrud), Russia

MOSCOW, July 13 – RIA Novosti. Minor teenagers can independently conclude an employment contract upon reaching 16 years of age, and sometimes even at a younger age, told RIA Novosti in Rostrud.

So, for example, 15-year-olds can be involved in light work, but without harm to their health. If a teenager left school without receiving a basic general education, or continues to study after being expelled from school, then work should not be at the expense of mastering the program.

Fourteen-year-old children who have already received general education can also be involved in light work, but in this case one of the parents and guardianship authorities must give written consent to this. If a teenager of this age is still studying, then he will be able to work only in his free time from school.

If one of the parents opposes the conclusion of an employment contract with a child under 15 years old, then the opinion of the teenager and the guardianship authority is taken into account.

Entrepreneurship lessons for children will be held in Moscow parks

July 10, 2019, 07:53

Children under the age of 14 can work in the cinema, theater, concerts or circus performances, if the work does not cause harm to health and moral development. This also requires the permission of one of the parents and the guardianship authority. The contract for such a child is signed by a parent or guardian.

Rostrud reminded that before concluding an employment contract, a minor must undergo a medical examination, and in the future – to undergo it every year until the age of majority. At the first employment, the employer is obliged to issue him a work book and submit data to the Pension Fund for registering the child in the personalized accounting system.

Experts told at what age children need pocket money

June 1, 2019, 03:35

Minors should not be involved in work with harmful and dangerous working conditions or underground work, and they should not be placed on probation. In addition, they should not be taken to work that may be harmful to health or moral development: for example, in the gambling business and nightclubs.

In addition, employers should be aware of the reduced working hours for minors: under 16 years old – no more than 24 hours a week, and from 16 to 18 years old – no more than 35 hours.

Detki.co.il – All about children in Israel

08/15/2016 |
Dina Feller

Before the start of the school year, many recipes for sandwiches appear in magazines and websites, which can easily claim the title of haute cuisine. The only bad thing is that the child continues to ignore beautiful, nutritious and exquisite facilities and throws away everything that deviates from the standard of “bread and chocolate.”

The thought of the impending ten months of morning agony drives many parents to despair. As with any other problem, it is better to start dealing with the tragedy of the daily thrown sandwich in advance.

• Ask the children to give you as many options as possible. Of course, they won’t ask you for a whole-grain bread sandwich with blanched spinach, but they can easily compose a menu based on pictures. To do this, you should first find pictures of mouth-watering sandwiches on the Internet from the ingredients available and, in principle, beloved by the child.

• Arrange a tasting evening ahead of time. Prepare as many varieties of bread, rolls and toppings as possible and invite them to create their own sandwiches that they agree to eat throughout the year. Set up a competition, encourage any manifestation of ingenuity in this context, and children can finally leave the narrow framework of “pitas with chocolate.

• Find out what their sandwich requirements are. Children’s demands sometimes seem illogical to us, but any attempt to ignore them ends up with another sandwich in the bin. For example, many children hate toppings that make bread soggy. A significant percentage of children do not eat sandwiches made from ordinary bread, and not from buns or pita bread, because they do not like a hard bread crust. Some are ready to eat a sandwich with a soft filling, and some vice versa, only with a hard one, such as cheese. In addition to requirements for the look, color, smell and texture of a sandwich, there are often requirements that children are embarrassed to talk about. So, if an unspoken class leader suddenly announced that cottage cheese / jam / olives or any other product is “fu”, many children begin to be afraid to eat this product so as not to be ridiculed, and just in case, they generally refuse to take a sandwich out of their bag, preferring to stay hungry. It is easier to put up with such conventions than to fight, but it is better to find out all of them in advance.

• Nutritionists recommend giving your child fruits and vegetables. But vegetables often make the bread soggy, and children ask not to put them in a sandwich. A small box for vegetable pieces that can be given along with a sandwich can be a good solution. It is advisable to give vegetables and fruits already washed and cut, ready for immediate consumption. A few drops of lemon juice will prevent the fruit from turning black. For small children, fruits can be cut not only into slices, but also cut out figures from them using cookie cutters. A melon star or a peach bear has a much higher chance of being eaten. And the small boxes, which we have already talked about, will keep the shape of the fruit until it is eaten.

A word to the children

I don’t remember what I said in a joking conversation…. Sofia (5.9): “Dad, I’ve known you for a couple of years, stop talking nonsense.”

Detki.co.il – All about children in Israel

Of course, it’s all the same, only “sandwich” came into Russian from German, “sandwich” from English, and “brown” breaks into Israeli Russian from Hebrew , unless English “sandwich” displaces it from Hebrew itself.

Be that as it may, this topic, especially on the eve of the beginning of a new academic year, is very relevant and does not lose its freshness, at least until the sandwich, sandwich, brown has lost its freshness.

And if you want, let’s start with this – how to make sure that the sandwich retains its taste and, moreover, does not deteriorate, as long as possible? Then do not put it in a nylon bag – the products “breathe”, and in such an airless space they suffocate. They release vapors containing moisture, which, again in the hermetically sealed space of the nylon bag, cause the bread to soak. And it’s not even that it’s tasteless, but that everything starts to turn sour. Wrap the sandwich in wax paper and then place it in a paper, usually brown grocery bag. Another solution might be a fairly large plastic box.

When preparing a sandwich, refrain from anything excessively juicy, in particular, cucumbers, tomatoes. Vegetables are best given separately, and not inside a sandwich. Separately, give fruits. Here again, a plastic box with different compartments is very useful.

It is undesirable to put undercooked meat, liver pate, undercooked egg in a sandwich. These products, rich in protein, spoil quickly. It is undesirable to use low-calorie bread for a sandwich – it crumbles and does not satisfy your appetite.

By the way, for a completely different reason, do not make multi-layered sandwiches – it’s beautiful, but not practical. Most of the products “embedded” in it will ultimately end up not in the child’s mouth, but on the floor. They will fall out from the opposite side from which he bites. A partial solution may be an oblong bun, cut lengthwise only to open, but not into two separate parts.

We talked about what not to do, and now let’s move on to what and how to do, supplying the child with food on the eve of breakfast at around ten o’clock. Do not expect, however, that I will reveal to you some unknown secrets of making simple sandwiches early in the morning in a hurry. By the way, you really have to cook them in the morning and in haste, but you can think over their weekly menu in advance.

I will list only the most commonly used components, most of which can be combined, which is called according to taste and in compliance with kosher for those who care about it. In municipal kindergartens, by the way, observance of kosher is obligatory. On the other hand, in a number of private kindergartens, sandwiches are not required at all, because children are fed there, moreover, in compliance with the recommendations of a children’s nutritionist.

I warn you that the list below is just food for thought, not action. Meat products: sausage, ham, pieces of cutlets; egg products: hard-boiled egg, various types of scrambled eggs, egg salad; dairy products: “guina levana”, “cottage”, brynza, hard cheese; fish: tuna; brushes: hummus, tahina, eggplant salad, mayonnaise, ketchup; fresh vegetables: cucumbers, tomatoes, avocados, peppers, cabbage, carrots, pickled or pickled cucumbers and olives.

Do not rush to attack me with criticism – that is not useful either. It is about what is offered on the Internet. And now the advice of nutritionists: instead of sausage and ham, it is much better to cook small chicken, fish, beef cutlets in advance. Add a little bread, carrots, greens, celery, tomato to the minced meat – for juiciness and taste. Cooking cutlets is better in the oven or slow cooker.

Let’s single out two things from the above “Internet list”: avocado and tahini. Avocado fruit is a pantry of vitamin E, potassium and antioxidants. A classic Israeli recipe is to crush an avocado with a fork, add a little salt, add a drop of lemon and spread the resulting paste on bread. Some add a boiled egg and pickles. There are always avocados in Israel, their season is from October to March, at other times they are also there, but they are more expensive.

Sesame seeds, or sumsum, from which tahini is prepared, are rich in copper, magnesium, calcium and sesamolin – a natural antioxidant that regulates oxygen metabolism in the body and strengthens the immune system. In terms of calcium content, tehina surpasses most foods, even many varieties of cheese. And calcium is needed by the child’s body for growth in general and, in particular, healthy teeth. I note that children may not like a ready-made tahini salad bought in a store, because a lot of spices have been added to it. Therefore, it is better to buy a concentrate of tahina, and dilute it yourself in the right proportion with water, adding a little lemon.

Start giving children greens, small pieces of cabbage, lettuce in addition to everything.

This country has an excellent ratio of quality and cost of education.

In addition to basic academic training, British schools provide their students with many useful and necessary life skills, develop independence and self-discipline.

You can choose the program yourself – taking into account further plans for admission: A-Level, IB or US High School Diploma.

Pricing is dependent on school facilities, living conditions, multiple exam options (eg IB + US High School Diploma), language support for international students, and prestige and location of the school.

Tuition fees: from 44,000 Canadian dollars per year

As for the price range: they are comparable to European schools and you can find really good deals.

  • exam fees;
  • additional fees/commissions;
  • excursions and hikes;
  • study materials;
  • school uniform;

Many schools have a wide range of extra-curricular activities and activities: circles, sections, professional sports training and competitions. For example, it can be a tennis academy, musical theater, fencing lessons and much more. If the child wants to attend additional classes, it is worth clarifying the frequency and cost in advance.

So many details can sometimes be difficult to keep in mind and even more difficult to calculate the exact cost on your own in order to compare options and choose the best one.

This task is best left to an experienced specialist. ITEC experts send many children to foreign high schools every year, so with their help and support you will definitely not go wrong and choose the best private high school for your children.

How much does it cost to study in England

Read this article:

  • The cost of preparing for school in England
  • The cost of schooling in England
  • The cost of studying at colleges in England
  • University in England: the cost of education
  • Free education in England

9000 6
The cost of studying in England depends on many factors: the program, the chosen educational institution, location and others. But you can name an approximate amount, focusing on the level of education.

For example, kindergartens in England, which are often part of schools, can cost parents £10,000 to £15,000 a year. Private day schools tend to be cheaper than boarding schools, which start at £23,000 per year.

The cost of education in vocational colleges is 8000 – 12 000 pounds per year. Universities in the UK, being paid both for the British themselves and for foreigners, are more expensive for students from abroad. On average, studying at an English university costs 10,000 – 25,000 pounds per year.

The cost of preparing for school in England

British kindergartens can be separate institutions or part of a school. The second option is more common, because it is easier for children to get comfortable in a new environment and prepare for study at a very early age – up to 5-6 years. This stage is called EYFS: Early years foundation stage (the initial stage of education for young children).

Children prepare for school in the process of active and creative activities, every day is full of educational games, exploration of the world around them. Often, classes are held outdoors: children can plant flowers, study trees, and watch animals. For this approach, parents pay about 10,000 – 15,000 pounds a year; there are also more expensive kindergartens costing 20,000-30,000 pounds.

School preparation programs for foreigners

Preparation for entering a school in England is also necessary for foreign children who will study in the UK after a Russian school or kindergarten. In order to help them calmly settle down in a new country and get used to the new education system, special preparatory programs have been developed: Pre-A-Levels, Pre-I / GCSE, Pre-IB. The average cost of studying on such programs is 7,000 – 20,000 pounds per trimester.

Examples of tuition fees for preparatory programs

School fees in England

In private schools in England, where teaching is conducted in accordance with the British curriculum, there are four stages of education: from KS1 to KS4 (key stages). Each corresponds to a certain age group:

  • KS1 – 1 and 2 class,

  • KS2 – from 3rd to 6th grade,

  • KS3 – 7th to 9th grade,

  • KS4 – 10th and 11th grade.

At the end of KS4, students take the GCSE nationwide school exams, after which compulsory education in England ends.

The cost of education in a primary and secondary English school is approximately 15,000 – 25,000 per year. The price also depends on the form of education: from the age of 11-13, teenagers can study at a boarding school, that is, live on campus during the academic year. Such schools are more expensive: 25,000 – 40,000 pounds per year.

Examples of school fees

College fees in England

Colleges in England can be divided into two categories: sixth form colleges (grades 12 and 13) and vocational colleges.

By attending sixth form colleges with teaching in the British curriculum, students are preparing for the A-Levels exams and entering the university. The cost of education in such educational institutions is higher than in vocational colleges.

In most cases, a year of study at a sixth form college is 25,000 – 30,000 per year, and in the case of boarding schools, the price can reach 40,000 – 50,000 per year.

Examples of tuition fees at sixth form colleges

Vocational colleges in England accept graduates after completing the required 11 grades. Education in them allows you to acquire not only theoretical, but also practical knowledge, to master a demanded specialty.

Vocational colleges offer courses in a variety of fields, including health and social care, programming and digital technology, business management and finance, engineering, art, hospitality, and more. Tuition fees range from 8,000 to 12,000 per year.

University in England: tuition fees

Higher education in England includes a bachelor’s degree (the term of study is three years), a master’s degree (one to two years) and a doctoral program (three to four years). Bachelor’s programs are usually more expensive than master’s and doctoral programs.

Studying at the most prestigious universities in the country, for example, at Cambridge or Oxford University, can cost 25,000 – 45,000 pounds per year. In less known, but no less worthy – from 11,000 pounds.

Undergraduate

The minimum cost of studying for a bachelor’s degree in England is 11,000 pounds per year. Technical and natural sciences (engineering, architecture, biotechnology) cost from 12,000 pounds. The most “expensive” profession for foreign students is medicine: a year of study costs at least 18,000 pounds.

Masters

The cost of studying in an English master’s program is on average higher than in most European countries. However, costs are reduced by the short duration of study: the course usually lasts only one year.

Doctorate

Doctoral studies involve independent research under the guidance of a mentor, participation in scientific life, and sometimes teaching. At the end, doctoral students defend their thesis.

The most common doctoral degree in the UK is PhD, there are also DBA, MD EdD, EngD, etc.

Programs differ in cost, which depends on the direction of study, university, etc.

Free study in England

In public schools in the UK, you can study for free for citizens of the country and expats. However, the quality of education in such schools is not uniform, and it is important to carefully select an educational institution.

As for the universities in the UK, they do not offer free education. However, there are many private and public scholarships for international students with outstanding academic results. Some scholarships can cover not only the cost of education, but also the cost of living in England.

Among the scholarships for studying at British universities are: British Chevening Scholarships for International Students, Gates Cambridge Scholarships for International Students, Clarendon Fund Scholarships at the University of Oxford, Warwick Chancellor’s International Scholarships, Westminster International Scholarships.

LLA Stories

“We moved to Arkansas in November of 2018 with a two-year-old and a two-week-old. I was broken-hearted over pulling my two-year-old out of his daycare with all of his friends. Then, we found Little Life Academy in Cabot. This school and the amazing ladies literally saved my heart and soul. The love these teachers have for my children is truly unreal. They love, care and protect every child that comes into their school. I couldn’t hand pick better people to watch my children. We are so lucky to have them in our lives. ”

“Little Life Academy has been such a blessing to our family. We had a friend tell us Little Life Academy was accepting applications. After calling and finding out they had a spot open, I’ve never filled out paperwork quicker! We love New Life Church, and I had so much peace over knowing my son would be taken care of by our church family throughout the week. Now, it’s been two years, and we couldn’t imagine our lives without Little Life Academy and its teachers. Our son has grown so much, learning a curriculum, setting him up for success and teaching a relationship with Jesus along the way. ”

“Little Life Academy has provided not only core academic excellence for Evan, seven, and Ruby, five, but also a strong spiritual foundation and an assurance of God’s love and plan for their lives. Little Life Academy teachers truly equip the children with biblical truths and also prepare them to enter kindergarten well-rounded academically, socially, emotionally, and spiritually. LLA is like family to us, and we will always be thankful for the amazing Christ-like environment our children have been a part of in these early years.”

“We were excited to send our little boy to Little Life Academy Greenbrier. We had heard wonderful things about the Conway Campus and were thrilled to have one so close to home. The staff and teachers immediately exceeded our expectations. We were impressed with their professionalism and detailed communication with all curriculum and policies. Throughout the year they also went above and beyond to create special moments for families to enjoy together as well! Our son’s teacher was very intentional with him and his specific learning needs and worked hard to create a positive environment where each child in the class had potential to thrive. We could not be more pleased with our experience and would recommend LLA Greenbrier to others!”

a charitable foundation that helps children get a model of behavior of a successful adult nearby, which they do not have. We help children from orphanages prepare for their future adult life: find their favorite profession, become happy.

The programs of the Foundation are developed by a team of professionals: from child psychologists, sociologists, teachers and doctors to a director, actor, moderator and even stars.

The Foundation is helped by people who care : businessmen, leading figures in culture, theater and sports.

three programs to help children

All three areas of work help children feel more confident in their future life in the big world
