Your child is turning two! Isn’t it amazing how much they have changed and all that they have learned in the last year?

By their second birthday, children have some definite likes and dislikes. This can make party planning fun for a two year old who has favorite movies or cartoon characters. They are still too little to be aware of what all the fuss is about, but will love to have all the attention for the day as well as treats such as their favorite foods, birthday cake and ice cream.

As with first birthdays, your party already has a theme – it’s a birthday party! So you don’t have to go overboard on creating the perfect theme as your two year old won’t remember the party except through pictures years later. Choosing a theme or your child’s favorite colors will help you plan the invitations, the cake, the tableware and other decorations.  You child is only two, they really doesn’t care about the materialistic stuff so you can keep the party budget friendly and still have a great time.

  • When choosing the date, make sure the special people are available, grandparents, aunts and uncles, cousins.  If the party is “family only” the pressure is off for having a “perfect party”, you can just enjoy the day.
  • Weekends are usually best so working adults can attend.
  • Choose your party time around your child’s nap time so they will be at their best and enjoy the party and all the attention.
  • Send invitations out at least 2-3 weeks before the party. Send them earlier if the party is the same time as a major holiday or in December.
  • Keep the party short so your child isn’t cranky or tired, 1-1/2 to 2 hours should be about all they can handle.
  • Choose a location your child is comfortable with…there’s no place like home.

Your child probably has some favorite things by now. Some popular second birthday party invitation themes are:

  • Farm, Jungle, Zoo Animals & Dinosaurs
  • Carnival and Magic
  • Princess
  • Pool and Beach Party
  • Ladybugs, Critters & Insects
  • Under the Sea, Fish & Mermaids
  • Cupcakes, Cakes & Candles
  • Movies, Games & The Park
  • Pirates
  • Cowboys and Cowgirls, Western
  • Invite special friends and relatives, the adults and children in your child’s life, but keep the number manageable because you will also be taking care of your two year old.
  • Too many people can be overwhelming to your child when all eyes are them, so keep the number of guests manageable.
  • If your child has made a few friends through play dates or other activities, you might want to invite 1-3 of them and make sure their parent(s) attend to take care of them.
  • If your child goes to Gymboree or something similar, you can have a party there for your child’s little friends and they will do everything for you.
  • Mylar balloons are the safest and aren’t as great a choking hazard as latex balloons.
  • Banners and posters can be “temporarily” affixed to walls with toothpaste.
  • Use the birthday cake and goodie bags or party favors as part of your decorations.
  • Plates, napkins and other tableware can also be set out as part of the party decorations.
  • We suggest getting a “squash cake” which is a miniature cake just for your child. You can then let the guest of honor stick their fingers in the icing, take a bite out it, or do what they will (they will surprise you) and you can then serve a larger, unblemished cake to your guests.
  • As a two year old is still getting the hang of feeding themselves, it is a great video moment to capture their fun with the cake.
  • Be careful of candles on the cake, matches or lighters so your child or others don’t get burned or injured.
  • Entertainers can be terrifying to a two year old. Live entertainment is really not necessary at this age and best kept until they are older and the entertainment will be fun instead of frightening.
  • Finger foods are fun for little ones – try peanut butter and jelly sandwiches (be aware of any allergies), macaroni and cheese and chicken fingers.
  • Cut fruit and vegetables are a great snack for all ages.
  • Cheese and crackers
  • Juice boxes are great for kids, less chance of spills and forgotten glasses spilled or forgotten in strange places. Have a Sharpie pen on hand to write names on cups and juice boxes, you’ll have less waste.
  • If you are having a party longer than 1-1/2 hours, you can consider serving a meal, but remember you will have a lot going on and you want to enjoy this special day more than your guests will need to be served a full meal.
  • Go ahead, serve cocktails! Your child won’t remember and your guests might enjoy a glass of wine or a cold beer – you don’t have to have a full bar.
  • I your child has a favorite outfit or a favorite color, that’s a place to start. A special outfit doesn’t have to be expensive, just pick something cute for the pictures, age appropriate and fits the season.
  • It’s a good idea to have a change of clothes on hand and several cute bibs to catch the result of your two year old feeding themselves.
  • Make sure you have your camera batteries charged – video and still cameras.
  • Disposable cameras are a great way for your guests to help you capture the action, especially your interactions with your child throughout the day.
  • Name tags if you have people from different circles that haven’t met.
  • Trash bags to collect wrapping paper as the gifts are opened and trash from food that will be served.
  • Be flexible! Just go with the flow. Enlist the help of some of your child’s favorite people to keep them busy while you attend to the party details.
  • ENJOY! Be sure to take the time to enjoy the day!

What to do for a 2 year old’s birthday?

Start by deciding how big you want your party to be.

Some people love a giant kids’ birthday party with family and friends.

Others might want to have a smaller party, especially since big parties can sometimes overwhelm toddlers.

Luckily, many of these 2 year old birthday party ideas can be adapted to small or large parties.

How do you organize a 2 year old birthday party?

Two year olds are at such a fun age.

We’re sure that whatever you do, your little one will have a blast.

But here are some tried and tested tips to help with organizing birthdays for 2 year olds.

  • Remember nap time. Your 2 year old and their little friends (and their parents!) will appreciate a party that doesn’t interfere with afternoon naps.
  • Keep it short. Two hours is plenty for a toddler’s party.
  • Embrace the mess. It’s unavoidable.
  • Have lots of snacks. Crackers, cheese, and some simple cut-up fruits would work great as birthday snacks for toddlers.

What do you do at a toddler’s party?

Toddlers don’t have very long attention spans, so you don’t need to plan too much.

A few structured activities are fun, but give plenty of time for free play.

Does your toddler have a favorite interest or activity?

Whether it’s construction vehicles, butterflies, or balls, focusing on something that your child loves is a sure way to guarantee fun.

Birthday party ideas for 2 year olds

For kids’ birthday parties, sometimes the season dictates what you can do.

Winter birthday parties can be a challenge in cold areas since the kids can’t just run around in your backyard or at a park.

Here are some great ideas for winter birthday parties for your toddler.

Winter birthday party ideas for 2 year olds

1. Ball party

Simple, we know, but toddlers just love balls. Especially when they can immerse themselves in them.

You can either rent a ball pit or simply buy an inflatable pool and a few bags of balls.

Hours of fun guaranteed.

You can also set up other ball-related activities like pom-pom posting and skittles bowling.

2. Teddy-bear’s picnic

This is a fun one, especially if your little toddler has a special fluffy toy friend.

Ask each guest to bring their favorite fuzzy friend to enjoy a picnic.

Lay out picnic blankets and an array of picnic snacks, like mini quiches, pizza whirls, little kebabs, and fruit platters.

3. Arty Two Party

The focus here is on fun art activities.

Whether it’s painting, box creations, or clay sculptures, this can be an inexpensive theme for 2 year olds.

Remember that, at this age, it’s just about having fun, not following specific craft directions.

It’s worth investing in some aprons though, as this one’s bound to get messy.

(But let’s be honest, what isn’t messy when it comes to 2 year olds?)

4. Two the Moon

This really fun space theme is perfect if, like so many 2 year olds, your little one is fascinated by all things interstellar.

For decor, think planets, stars, a giant sun pinata.

And how about an inflatable rocket that your little astronauts can climb inside?

Add a solar system cake and rocket cake sparkler and you are all set!

Summer birthday party ideas for 2 year olds

5. Pool party (aka Just add water)

Water is fun. Period.

And for 2 year olds, it can provide endless entertainment, especially with some water toys thrown into the mix.

Just make sure the “pool” is a shallow toddler pool or splash pad.

Two year olds are still too young for an actual pool party.

And it’s worth asking a couple of extra adults to keep a close eye on the pool merriment.

Water tables and sandbox activities with an assortment of buckets, funnels, water wheels, ice cream cones, and scoops will add another layer of entertainment.

(Don’t forget to remind guests to bring bathing suits, sunhats, towels, and sunblock.)

6. Carnival party

Bright, festive, fun.

This is another great outdoor birthday party idea.

You can set up the backyard with various age-appropriate games, like ring-toss, skittles bowling, sack race, and hopscotch.

Adding a giant bubble machine is also bound to wow the crowd.

And a face-painting station is another great add-on.

You can also set up a few low tables with fun food and drinks.

7. Farmyard party

This theme is a big hit for 2 year olds.

There are lots of mobile petting zoos that you can rent to bring the party to you.

You can set up some hay bales and picnic blankets to add to the country feel.

And lay out some fun animal-themed snacks and a farmyard cake.

Birthday party ideas for 2 year old boys

If you’re looking for gender-specific birthday parties, we’ve got some fun ideas.

But remember, these ideas can work for any toddler!

Some little girls will love a construction party, and some little boys would love nothing more than a rainbow unicorn cake.

8. Construction vehicle party

This one is bound to be a hit for little boys who just LOVE construction vehicles.

And it can be really simple too.
All you really need is a big sandbox and lots of construction vehicles like trucks, excavators, dump trucks, and bulldozers.

You could get each party guest a hard hat and high viz jacket.

And the cherry on top? A large construction site cake!

Birthday party ideas for 2 year old girls

9.

Rainbow sparkle party

Some girls just can’t get enough glitter and sparkles!

This theme can be really simple, ranging from sparkly rainbow balloons and streamers, to a full-blown unicorn theme.

These would tick the decor box.
As far as activities go, you can set up some awesome glittery and multicolored sensory bins.

And set up a glittery face-painting station.

Don’t forget a glitter-covered rainbow cake.

Top your birthday girl’s day off with her very own tiara.

And there you have it, our list of awesome birthday party ideas for 2 year olds.

Now comes the tricky part… choosing which theme to go with.

Good luck, mama. Happy planning!

How to celebrate a birthday at 2 years old. Happy birthday 2 years.

Author Eva Stern Views 9 Published

To ensure a calm creative process, prepare a large sheet of chokha in advance and cover the carpet with parchment paper. Ask parents to bring aprons or clothes for painting. nine0003

Scenario for a 2 year old boy’s birthday with fun children’s games

Your child will soon be 2 years old and you want to properly congratulate him on this significant day. He has certainly learned a lot in the past year. Now he even begins to actively speak and repeat many of the movements and words of adults. Now comes the peak of the development of the child. Therefore, the holiday should be playful. In this article, I describe my script for celebrating the birthday of a child of 2 years old. nine0003

I want to say right away that children at the age of 2 still understand little and, most likely, will not remember this holiday. But you can always capture this event on photographs and look at them together in the future, have a big baby. In this way you will also help the birthday of the video recording, the recording that can be seen in the future.

It’s best not to make the party last all day, but limit it to 2-4 hours. You must have a script for all this time. Thus, the guests will not sit idle, and the children will not quarrel over trifles. nine0003

Invite many guests or just a few? – It’s up to you, because one child will tolerate a lot of company, and the other is picky and does not want to be separated from his mother.

2nd birthday scenario for kids – Room decoration:

Balloons and paper flowers are hung in the room, a poster hangs on the wall, on which all guests leave wishes for the birthday, and the children prepared decorations (diamonds, squares, circles, animals ).

When the guests meet, put a party hat on their heads. Birthday greeting: When all the guests have gathered, greet the birthday boy with a poem:

Then the guests come up to the poster and leave their congratulations on it, and the children stick pre-prepared decorations (circles, rhombuses, animals …) The birthday person also takes part in this process. He already knows how to stick stickers.

Birthday 2 years script for kids Now we invite guests to the festive table:

Menu:

  • Baked chicken with potatoes and cheese
  • Babies can prepare porridge separately and decorate it beautifully. nine0096
  • Salads
  • Sandwiches
  • Juice
Birthday 2 Years Scenario for Toddlers – Games for Kids:

Let’s play games: I chose the simplest and most accessible games, as well as fun and funny ones. Even if the little birthday boy does not have time to do everything, it does not matter, the main thing is that he participates.

Fun Animal Relay Race:

First Leg – “Penguin” – Participants move from one end of the room to the other with a ball secured between their legs. nine0003

Second leg – “Frog” – Participants jump like a frog, i.e. first squat, then get up and squat again ….

Third stage – “Kangaroo” – Participants overcome the distance by jumping on both feet together.

The fourth stage – “Doggy” – participants go the distance on all fours.

Fifth stage – “crab” – participants go the distance in the opposite direction.

Sixth leg – “Caterpillar” – Participants stand one after another and put their right foot. With the left hand, they hold on to the shoulder of the participant in front, and with the right hand, on the bent leg. Together, the children reach the finish line. After such a relay race, all participants receive prizes – medals. nine0003

Merry Relay:

  • All participants jump in pairs on one foot to the finish line and back.
  • Two participants go to the finish line with a flat object on their heads.
  • Two participants each, the children run to the finish line on their haunches.
  • Children go to the finish line with small midget steps.

How, when and where to celebrate a birthday at 2 years old

  • Don’t fuss. To avoid the childish “This is my holiday, I want to – and I will cry,” try to adhere to the following rules: a little, simply, with feeling and short. This does not guarantee a perfect holiday (when it comes to babies of two years of age, there are no guarantees), but the risk of failure will be much less, and the chances of a pleasant event that will remain in memory will become higher. nine0096
  • Correct guest list. The guest list should consist primarily of adults whom your little one knows and loves. If you are going to add other two-year-olds to the holiday, do not overdo it. The general rule “One guest per year” should be supplemented with the adage “In two years and one guest is too much.” It is quite enough if there are only two children: your girl and her friend of the same age. If you are forced to invite two or three kids (for example, if your girl attends a playgroup), try to make their number even so that the children can play in pairs. Since it’s impossible to predict how willingly your guests will leave their parents, give their dads and moms the opportunity to stay for the entire holiday or most of it. This will greatly reduce the chance of tears. nine0096

If you have small children, remember that the only addition to the holiday will be a pet. Some children are afraid of dogs or cats, others suffer from allergies, and even the most well-mannered animals can behave inappropriately in a crowd of noisy, active children. Keep pets out.

  • The right time. If you are planning to do something with your baby: have dinner at a restaurant, go to a museum or have a birthday party, the main thing is to choose the time. The holiday should not violate the daily routine of the child. Avoid sleep hours (as well as the time when the baby has to go to bed or she just got up), “hungry” minutes (even if the holiday includes a feast, feed the girl before the guests arrive so that she does not worry about hunger), and also periods when your daughter is usually naughty. For most children, late morning or early evening is best. Remember that the holiday should be short (an hour and a half). This will help your little one stay in a good mood all the time. nine0096
  • Suitable location. The second birthday in life is best arranged at home (in a room or in a garden). The kid is not yet ready to go to the museum or to the gym. Don’t forget about safety. Even if your child is great with stairs, other children may not have the skills yet, so keep stairwells closed. Also be aware of other potential hazards: folding chairs that can suddenly collapse and pinch a child, volatile liquids and sharp objects (like a cake cutter) that are easily accessible, a bathroom door that guests can leave open, etc. . nine0096

You can also have a group birthday party: Take small cakes or other suitable treats for your afternoon snack.

  • A suitable treat. Food and drink should not pose a risk to babies. Common holiday treats—nuts, candy, popcorn, whole grapes—are not good because they are easy to choke on. Even if all this is not intended for children, it can end up in the wrong hands and, as a result, in the mouth. It is risky to put alcohol on the table – poison for young children. It only takes a child a few seconds to drain a glass of rum placed on the coffee table by an adult. For the sake of everyone’s health, limit or eliminate foods with sugar. For example, instead of a cake that is cut into pieces, treat the audience with small cupcakes for tea, serve small portions of ice cream. To save wallpaper and furniture upholstery, carpets, clothes from stains, it is better to drink apple or peach juice to guests, and not red grape or other brightly colored drinks. nine0096

How to entertain children on their birthdays

Magicians, clowns (in scary makeup) and storytellers (in scary masks) can scare two-year-old children at a birthday party. It is best to avoid this kind of personalized entertainment. Try other types of entertainment.

  • Games. Choose ones where everyone wins (kids rarely know how to lose). Best of all are funny round dances.
  • Dancing. Just turn on the music and give the kids a chance to release their excess energy. nine0096
  • Songs. Sing familiar songs with the children.
  • Reading fairy tales. Let someone who loves to read aloud read their favorite fairy tale to the kids.
  • Drawing and crafts. The task should be interesting, but not too difficult, so as not to cause irritation: beautifully paint paper hats with felt-tip pens, make crowns for a birthday, color something or make a gift for your little one together. If each child has his own set of pencils, felt-tip pens or markers (of course, washable and non-toxic), then it is easier to avoid quarrels. nine0096
  • Free games. Have blocks, art supplies, rocking horses, and colored paper in the room (make sure you have enough of everything).
  • The main event of the holiday should be a cake (or cupcakes). Be sure to practice with your son or daughter how to blow out the candles before the birthday. (While the candles are burning, do not leave them unattended.)

Reasonable expectations.

You can’t really expect your daughter to be a nice housewife who greets guests politely, quietly accepts gifts (and a kiss from her grandfather’s brother) and lets the invited children taste the cake first and play.

Gingerbread House Preschool Parent Handbook — Gingerbread House Preschool, Zionsville, Indiana

Welcome

The Staff of the Gingerbread House welcomes you and your family.  The day your child enters our Early Childhood Program, we share in the responsibility for his/her mental, social, physical and emotional development.  It is important to us that your child’s first school experience be positive and rewarding.  We strive to help each child develop a healthy self-concept through “active learning” in a peer group setting.  In addition, each child is nurtured to improve his/her social, emotional, intellectual, and physical capabilities.  We are glad you have chosen Gingerbread House Preschool, and look forward to the partnership we will enjoy during your child’s time with us.  Welcome!!!

Gingerbread House is a private preschool program that leases space at Zionsville Christian Church.  We are a non-faith based preschool.  We welcome all children and their families.

We do all we can to facilitate communication between parents and teachers.  At the first of each month parents receive a calendar listing the highlights of the upcoming month’s activities for each class.  These calendars are also posted on our website.  There are weekly group emails for each class.  Every weekend parents receive a message from their child’s teachers.  Parents receive the email addresses and cell phone numbers of their child’s teachers to enable open and direct dialog.

Our Professional Educators

Gingerbread House is very proud of its warm, caring, experienced and professional educators.  They have been chosen for their patience, sensitivity, and understanding of how young children learn.  There are two teachers in each classroom setting.  Our classes use the team-teaching approach with two lead teachers.

Prior to every month, the age level teachers from each room, hold planning sessions to establish the curriculum for the upcoming month.   Parents and students receive a monthly calendar outlining daily activities and upcoming special events.  If you misplace your monthly calendar, you can always print out a new copy from our website.

As professionals, we are always seeking new information in the field of Early Childhood Education through conferences and workshops.  We look forward to getting to know you and your child.

Our Teaching Philosophy

Our program is flexible, enabling each child to learn at his/her own pace, socially, emotionally, physically, and academically.  Our goal is to educate the whole child, by trying to meet each child’s individual needs.  Knowledge is not something that is given to children as though they were empty vessels to be filled.  “Children acquire knowledge about the physical and social worlds in which they live through playful interaction with objects and people.  Children do not need to be forced to learn; they are motivated by their own desire to make sense of their world. ”  Position statement of NAEYC (National Association for the Education of Young Children).

Our Approach to Discipline

The goals of Gingerbread House Preschool include helping each child to develop a feeling of positive self-worth, competence, and mastery.  Discipline is approached from a realization that children need to learn self-control.  Clear rules for behavior and clear directions for compliance are established.  Positive reinforcement is given for compliance.  The teachers convey an attitude of firmness, respect, and kindness when stating expectations for children’s behavior.  Guidance involves establishing rules for safety, general health, and social interaction.  A safe, caring atmosphere, and consistent daily routines, provide a feeling of security and confidence in each child.

Specific strategies for discipline and guidance include:

  1. Using redirection and diversion rather than negative reinforcement.

  2. Changing the learning environment when it interferes with positive behavior.

  3. Setting clear, consistent, and reasonable limits, and following through on enforcing those limits.

  4. Avoiding negatives, by stating expectations in a positive way.

  5. The teachers contact parents when necessary, regarding a child’s inappropriate behavior.

  6. Parent-Teacher conferences occur 2 times each school year.

Health Guidelines

Sick children must be free from fever, vomiting, diarrhea, and without medication for 24 hours before returning to school. A child with pink eye or strep throat must be on antibiotics for 24 hours before returning to school.  If there is suspicion of a communicable disease, such as pink eye, please keep your child at home.

**Please call the school to let us know when your child is sick.

***No dispensing of medications, even over-the-counter medications.

Potty Training

Children in the 3, 4, and 5-year-old classes must be potty trained.   Parents will be notified in case of a poopy accident to take care of the situation.  Children in the 2’s class are not required to be potty trained.

Dress

We would like children to wear play clothes to school.  Despite precautions on our part, play dough, glue, and paint often get on clothing.  Make sure your child’s clothing is washable.  Please do not allow your child to wear a costume to school.  Choose clothing that is easy for your child to fasten and unfasten.  This will aid in their independence when using the restroom.

School shoes:  We prefer athletic or rubber soled shoes for climbing and running outdoors. Please do not send your child to school wearing crocs, flip flops, or slides. These types of foot wear fall off the children’s feet on the playground and inside the school during Music and Movement class.  If your child wears boots to school in the winter, please also send regular shoes.

Dressing for the Weather:  Children should be prepared to go outside, unless it is raining.   Please dress your child for the weather.  If the temperature or wind chill is 15 degrees Fahrenheit or below, we will not go outside.  In the winter months, your child should have an appropriate winter coat, boots, mittens, and hat.  Please label these items with your child’s name. No umbrellas, please.

Weather Delays and Cancellation of School

When the Zionsville Community Schools (ZCS) cancel school, GBH is cancelled. When ZCS have a delay, GBH will have school at its regular time.  It is your choice whether to bring your child to school, or not.  The GBH staff will hold classes as usual.

**Please call the school (317-733-1105) if your child will be absent for any reason.

Snacks and Parties

Snack time is a regular part of each day.  Classroom snacks are provided by parents on a rotating schedule.  A “snack bucket” will be sent home with your child prior to his/her turn.   We ask that the snacks be simple and nutritious.  The children will have water to drink.  If a child has special dietary restrictions, you will be informed so that this can be taken into consideration when you make your snack selection.  Snack time is a learning situation and an important part of our curriculum!

*If your child has food allergies or special dietary needs, please alert his/her teachers.  Also, send in alternative snacks in case your child is not allowed to eat the snack of the day.

We love birthdays. If your child would like to bring a special snack and a drink for his/her birthday, please plan with the classroom teacher in advance.  Summer birthdays will be observed during the school year.

If your child is having a birthday party outside of school, please do not distribute party invitations at school (including in the hallway prior to or following class).

Arrival and Dismissal

At arrival time parents will not enter the building. Children in the yellow room will enter through front glass doors on the south side of the building. Children in the blue room will enter through the side door on the east side under the overhang. Children in the green room will enter through the back doors on the north side of the building. Each class will be dismissed at their drop-off entrance.

If anyone other than parents will be picking up your child, please send a note, a text, or an email stating who will be picking up on that day.

It is important to be prompt for arrival and dismissal. This effort will help your child feel secure during this transition time.  If you are running late, please leave a phone message at:  317-733-1105, so that we will know you are on your way.

Child Care Handbook – PLYMOUTH UCC CHURCH

UPDATE: Nursery Care Returns on Easter Sunday

Children are ALWAYS welcome in worship.
(And feel free to bring children to the Fellowship Hall if they need to stretch their legs or their lungs.)

Child Care Handbook

Download printable (PDF) version

 Dear Parents,

Welcome to Plymouth. In Mark 10:14,  Jesus says, “Let the little children come to me. Don’t stop them! For the Kingdom of God belongs to those who are like these children.”  We believe children’s ministry begins at birth and continues until a child “graduates” into youth ministries in sixth grade.

We love children at Plymouth and we covenant to make every effort to ensure your child’s time at church is safe, loving, and Christ-centered.

We have designed this handbook to make you aware of our policies, the quality of care you can expect for your child, and to highlight ways we can partner with you on your child’s and family’s faith journey.

If you have any questions, please contact me (or my successor). We would love to talk with you!

Be Well,
Tricia Medlock
Interim Dir. of Christian Formation for Children

Christian Formation Mission Statement
Rooted in the progressive Christian tradition of the U. C.C.,
the Christian Formation Board and its ministries teach, challenge, and equip
Plymouth’s worshiping community of children, youth, and adults
to develop a lifelong transforming relationship with God
that inspires action towards peace and justice for all of creation.

Overview of Sunday Morning Children’s Ministries

  • Service times 9 and 11 – Worship Service (child care for children 1 to 2.5 years old only)
  • During Worship Parents are welcome to take infants through  age 4yrs to Fellowship Hall where Children’s Worship Materials may be enjoyed and service heard

Children in Worship
At Plymouth we welcome children of all ages to participate in worship. Children learn by participating and through modeling. This is why we believe it is so important for children to be included in worship. We are working toward creating an intergenerational worship space. This means children participate in the service in the same ways adults do. Children are welcome to serve as an usher, liturgist (reading during the service), helping to serve Communion, in the  bell choir,  and more. We also offer children’s bulletins and worship materials for children to use during worship. We encourage families to sit near the front of the sanctuary so children can see better and may be able to stay more focused. Children ages 5 and older are then welcome to stay in worship for the sermon.

Communication
Communication is important! We offer several ways for families to stay connected with what is happening at Plymouth:

  • Weekly Email – Usually Thursdays, with information about the upcoming Sunday, special events, celebrations, and family faith time.
  • Church Website – plymouthucc.org (you may go directly to pages for kids, nursery, or youth).

Policies

General Policies

  • Two Care Providers: It is our policy to have a minimum of two care providers in each room. This keeps children safe as well as protects our paid staff and volunteers. In the event that there is only one care provider, the room would either need to be combined with another room or a parent may be asked to stay. When the two care provider rule is not feasible, the adult supervisor is required to spot check, and the door must remain open or the window in the door must be unobstructed.
  • Children are to be dropped off in their classroom by a parent or guardian. Please sign in with your child on the sign-in sheet. Please leave your cell phone number. This helps us notify you in the event of an emergency or if your child requires your attention. We make every effort to console an unhappy child, but if the child is inconsolable (10 minutes of non-stop crying), we will call, or text you.
  • Please reduce your diaper bag  to only a diaper, change of clothes and wipes.  Items will be placed in a labeled ziplock bag. Items will be returned to you, or kept for next service as you choose.
  • Adult/child ratio in the Nursery room is a minimum of 1 caregiver for every 4 children. The ratio in the Preschool room is a minimum of 1 caregiver for every 6 children.

Food Policies

  • No food items until COVID restrictions end.
  • Please inform a staff person/volunteer of any food allergies or special instructions, and write it on the sign-in sheet.
  • We will feed your child formula, breast milk, water, or juice provided in your labeled bottle or cup. Please provide any instructions for preparing your child’s bottle, if applicable.
  • Post COVID we provide age appropriate snacks during the Sunday morning ministries (either graham crackers or egg-, dairy-, nut-free crackers) for all children and water to drink. Unless your child has an allergy to one of the ingredients in these snacks, please do not bring snacks for your child. Occasionally, we will provide a special snack that goes along with the lesson as long as it is safe for our children.
  • Medications will NOT be given by our staff or volunteers. Please do not put any medication in your baby’s bottle.

Health Policies

  • For the protection of your child and the other children in the children’s ministry programs, we can only accept well children. If your child doesn’t feel well, the best place for him or her is at home.
  • A child should not attend if he or she has had any of the symptoms below in the last 24 hours:
  • Fever over 100F (or 38C)
  • Vomiting or diarrhea
  • Significant, persistent nasal drainage that is yellow or green in color
  • Persistent cough
  • Childhood diseases such as: German measles, Mumps, Chicken Pox, etc.
  • Any unexplained rash or skin infection
  • Conjunctivitis (Pink Eye) or an eye infection
  • Parasites, any form of lice, mites, or ringworm
  • We will not administer any medication.
  • If your child develops any of these symptoms while in our care, a parent will be contacted immediately.
  • If your child develops an infectious disease (Chicken Pox, Pink Eye, Flu, etc.) within 2 weeks after they have been in any children’s ministry program, please contact Jane Anne.

Appropriate Discipline Policy
All children’s ministry volunteers are responsible for providing a loving, respectful, and caring atmosphere in which children can learn, play, worship, and interact with each other. This atmosphere should be maintained by preparing beforehand, proactively directing children toward acceptable activities, verbally encouraging positive behavior, and when necessary, correcting or redirecting inappropriate behavior. Volunteers will contact Jane Anne and parents if discipline concerns arise.

Sanitary Policies

  • We value the health and well-being of your child. Every week we do our best to keep the classrooms as clean as possible. If you see something that needs attention, please contact Jane Anne
  • All toys put in/near mouths are disinfected after Sunday morning programs
  • All spills are immediately cleaned up
  • Workers wash their hands after each diaper change or wiping noses
  • Gloves are provided for nursery staff to use
  • The changing pad is disinfected after each diaper change, and disposable paper liners are used
  • The classrooms are cleaned each week

Restroom Policy
Teachers allow toddlers/preschoolers to be as independent as possible but will assist if needed. Children and adults will wash their hands using soap and water after using the restroom.

Safety and Security
Caring for and teaching your child is something we look forward to, but we also take very seriously the safety and security of your child.
We ask that every parent complete a Child Information /Registration form once a year or if there are changes (i.e. allergies, who may pick up the child, etc.). Please return the form to your child’s caregiver.

  • Sign-in Sheet – All children should be signed in and out and helpful information provided on the sign-in sheet, especially allergies.
  • Contacting parents – parents are encouraged to leave their cell phone number so they can be reached in case of an emergency.
  • After you have signed in your child, left a phone number, and given any special instructions to the teacher, we hope you will take time to enjoy worship or a study  group while entrusting us with the care of your child. If you want to check on your child during the morning, please check inconspicuously through the hallway door.
  • Children should be picked up by  the same parent/guardian who dropped them off within 10 minutes of the end of service/study.
  • In the event of a fire, the nursery attendant and/or volunteers will immediately take the children outside and walk down to the designated meeting place at the playground. They will have the sign-in sheet and/or attendance folder with them. You may sign out your child outside.
  • In the event of a tornado, the nursery attendant and/or volunteers will take children to the closest safe space – if possible. We will also follow all guidelines from our Safe Sanctuaries Policy in regards to safety/security.
  • Staff Requirements. At Plymouth, we consider our children’s ministries to be a place where children can meet God. We realize this may be one of the first places that God’s love can be shown to children outside the immediate family. We take this responsibility seriously, and in such our staff and volunteers know what is expected of them:
  1. All children’s ministry staff and volunteers must complete an application, agree to a background check, and complete Safe Sanctuaries training.
  2. All staff and volunteers will sign and date a written job description and expectations.
  3. Enjoy caring for and teaching children.
  4. Must be at least 16 years of age.
  5. Volunteers must be a member or regular attendee at Plymouth for at least 3 months before working with children.

A Parent’s Role

At Plymouth, we consider parents to be the primary partners in ministry with us. It is not the sole responsibility of one person to lead a child in the way of Jesus Christ, it is more of a community effort by those placed in the child’s life by God.

We look forward to working with you in the following ways:

  • Support you as you bring your child into the worship service and/or the Nursery or Preschool room. We welcome children in worship – giggles, wiggles, tears, and all.
  • Strive to bring your child to the church on a regular basis to help him/her feel familiar with the church environment.
  • Sign in your child properly. Please complete an information sheet/registration form if you have not already done so, and be sure to fill out “Special Instructions” on the sign-in sheet upon arriving at each visit.
  • Be sure to clearly label ALL of your child’s belongings that will come into the nursery. Place in a ziplock bag
  • What to bring in the diaper bag:
  1. Diapers
  2. Wipes
  3. Bottle or sippy cup (because of milk allergies, we encourage parents to provide toddlers and preschoolers with a sippy cup of water if needed)
  4. Pacifier, if needed
  5. Security blanket or comfort item, if needed
  • What not to bring:
  1. Toys from home (as much as possible – these may become lost, broken or misplaced)
  2. Any food with peanuts or tree nuts

If your child cries when you leave him/her, we find it easier on the child if you leave quickly and return only when it is time to pick him/her up or after being called. You may check on your child through the window at any time. If you want to be called within a certain amount of time if your child does not settle down, please tell the caregiver. We will not go longer than 10 minutes. Remember that regular attendance really helps your child feel comfortable.

Thanks for the opportunity to be a part of your child’s faith journey.

IHS_IISD_History of Schulze Elementary

A historical look

J. Otto Schulze Elementary school opened in September 1950 with 20 classrooms and a cafeteria. At the time it was called East Irving Elementary or East Ward. In 1958 the name was changed to J. Otto Schulze Elementary School.

In 1965, when Irving began integrating its schools, the Ledbetter School, a school for African American children, was closed and those students began attending Schulze Elementary. To accommodate the larger student body, a new wing, consisting of nine classrooms, a library, and a second cafeteria was built. Schulze Elementary became the first bilingual school in the Irving ISD in 1979. Students from across the district, who were taking bilingual classes, were bused to Schulze. In 1988, a new Schulze Elementary was constructed on the same grounds, just to the south of the original school. The older school was renamed the Earlie Mae Wheeler Transitional and Development Center and Special Education Offices.

Principals of Schulze have included Ernest Johnson, William Ward, Gail Sebastian, Luther Starr, Arthur Casey, Wayne Ball, Harry Teal, R.V. Higginbotham, Neal Brown, R.E. Lumpkins, Michael Moehler, Fred Ivy, Doug Baum, Mary Hart, Ron Jennings, Erin Yacho, and Lariza Liner. The current principal is Robin Bayer.

Julius Otto (J. O.) Schulze was born in Iowa City, Iowa in 1875. He graduated from Iowa City High School and received a degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Iowa in 1897. He worked for a time with the Army Corps of Engineers and then went to work as a surveyor for the Rock Island Railroad. He surveyed rail lines in Arkansas and Oklahoma. In 1902 he was assigned to survey a 10-mile stretch for a line between Dallas and Fort Worth. While working the area, he and fellow crew member Otis Brown decided to build a town along the coming rail line between Dallas and Fort Worth.

In the fall of 1902, the two men purchased 80 acres of land from the Britain family on which to start their town. They left the railroad and spent most of 1903 preparing the town site. During the summer of 1903, Schulze returned to Iowa City to marry his fiancé Agnes Sueppel. The couple then moved back to Texas and the new town was launched in December 1903.

The young couple built a house on Ohio Street in the new town. The house remained standing until it burned in the mid-1980s. Unfortunately, Agnes and her new born child did not do well in the Texas climate and the Schulze family returned to Iowa City in 1905.

Schulze started the city’s first business, Irving Lumber Company. On the day of the town’s founding in December 1903, he advertised that he had lumber on the ground for those who were ready to start building. When the Schulze family returned to Iowa in 1905, J.O. Schulze asked his brother to come to Irving and take over the lumber yard. C.P. (Percy) Schulze moved to Irving and operated the lumber yard until his death in 1958.

J. O. returned to Irving with his grown daughters in the late 1950s. He died at his daughter’s home in Dallas in 1961 and is buried in Iowa City, Iowa.

On October 4, 2003 a statue of Otis Brown and J. O. Schulze was dedicated in Centennial Park near the present day South Irving Public Library.

Islamic Schools in Texas

The Importance of Islamic Education

Islamic studies are an essential component of education in the Western environment. Children usually quickly assimilate into their environment, and if this process is not stopped, they may lose their identity, culture and religion within a generation.

  • The fundamentals of Islam are taught to children through Islamic education.

For Muslims, Islam is a way of life, not just a religion. A Muslim must learn and practice Islam from an early age in order to grow up and lead an Islamic life.

A small child is the most impressionable and absorbs information exactly as it is given. Al-Ghazali said: “A child is a trust (placed by Allah) in the hands of his parents, and his pure heart is an invaluable element that can accumulate impressions.”

A young person begins to learn about life and the world around him from the moment he is born. Like a sponge, information is absorbed.

Through the Islamic program, children will be able to formally learn about the basic principles of Islam, including Fiqh, Quran, Hadith, Tawhid, Arabic, the history of Islam and the life of our Prophet (S) and Holy Aimah. Formal Islamic education will support the instillation of Islamic principles and values in the child.

  • Islamic education gives the child the right information about Islam.

Providing children with access to Islamic education allows them to receive proper knowledge of Islam. It is possible that parents and grandparents do not have a complete knowledge of Islam because they did not attend formal courses covering all aspects of it.

Formal Islamic education helps a teenager learn about Islam from properly qualified teachers and reliable sources provided to them, instead of living their lives believing or doing something inappropriate.

  • Islamic education connects the child with Islam.

Children and adolescents attending secular primary schools or secular secondary schools almost never interact with Muslims during or after school.

Sending our children to a weekend madrasah for a few hours a week to study Islam helps them keep Islam in their minds and hearts. They will be able to remember the lessons learned from their madrasah over the weekend throughout the school year.

In addition, there are other alternatives to such weekend madrasahs in the neighborhood.

What are the 4 Islamic schools?

Various Muslim states wholly or partly adhere to these schools, known as Hanbali, Hanafi, Maliki and Shafei respectively.

What are the 4 Sunni schools?

Hanafi, Shafi’i, Maliki and Hanbali rituals are the four main schools of Islam among the Sunnis.

The Jariri, Laiti, Auzai and Sauri schools no longer exist and the Zahiri school is still active but not part of the main stream.

What parents say about Granada Day School

My daughter LOVES Granada and I do too! We have been there for three years and could not ask for a more supportive and nurturing environment. The teachers and staff genuinely care about each student and get to know them individually. I feel that Granada truly is a blessing for the children and families in the community!…

Laura

The Lord has given our family many blessings and one of those is having the Granada family in our lives. Having the peace of mind that one’s child is safe and cared for is priceless… GDS, you have not only met that need beautifully but also helped both our children grow and flourish both socially and academically through love, nurturing and patience…

Connie

…The staff members are so sweet and attentive with both the students and the parents. They teach the kids about the love of Jesus, and really show it to us, as well. The curriculum is developmental in nature with lots of fun activities. The school is small with a good student/staff ratio…

The fact is that earlier the elementary school course consisted of three years of study. The junior high school course consisted of five years of study. That is, it was possible to leave school for a college or technical school after the eighth grade. At the end of ten grades, they received a complete general (not special, that is, without a specialty) secondary education. nine0003

And at the end of the 80s, like in 1989, elementary school was made four years old. Accordingly, those who had already completed elementary school that year from three grades immediately moved to the fifth grade, from which secondary school now began.

0003

It’s very simple. In 1989, a new format of education was adopted – 11-year-old. However, all that actually happened was the “stretching” of the three-year elementary school program over four years. And even then, half of the country studied according to the old canons – elementary school for 3 years, then grade 5 and beyond. The jump, in fact, existed for the unification of the 5th grade after the beginning. I can tell you… Read more

It’s simple: in the late 80s, 11-year education was introduced instead of 10 years.

Personally, having finished the 9th grade in 1989, I immediately went to the 11th. And in the 10th I did not study a day.

Initially, the 4th primary grade was “zero”, for six-year-olds. That is, it was possible to go to the zero from the age of 6, or to the first – from the age of 7. Then everything got mixed up, someone went to zero at the age of 7.5 (then he became the first in the 1-4 program), someone at the age of 6 went to the first grade according to the 1-3 program. Older children finished school a year later than the younger ones, but studied for 10 years, not 11. A… Read more

Online summer education at the Home School “InternetUrok”

And this is the time when you can turn school life around, turning the school year into pleasure and hobby classes.

Summer gives a chance to improve knowledge on missed topics
nine0003

Those who want to prepare for the new academic year

are engaged in the summer

Summer is the time to experiment

Summer gives a chance to pull up missed topics

Does the teacher not explain the lesson clearly or was some of the classes missed due to illness or moving?

Summer gives you a chance to pick up missed topics and come to the next class prepared. In this way, you can show classmates, teachers and yourself that you are a capable student and you can do a lot.

Those who value time

are engaged in summer

The school curriculum is designed for a very average student. In addition, in the classroom, the lion’s share of time is spent on organizational issues and explanations for those who are lagging behind. In the summer, those who value time and do not consider themselves average are engaged. nine0003

Abandoning false modesty, some schoolchildren master the program of an academic year, or even two, in three months.

Summer is the time to experiment

Summer is the time to try and experiment. Distance learning is becoming more and more popular, attracting unlimited opportunities.

And the very fact that you no longer have to jump up at dawn and get ready for school makes any schoolchild happy. But parents are scared to radically change the usual methods of education. nine0003

How will everything work out? Isn’t the burden of independence too heavy for a child? Will the parents be able to help if the child does not understand something?

After completing a short course during the summer, you will be able to answer these questions and determine if the new form of study is right for you.

More than 19,000 students study with us

We have been thinking for more than a year which school to send our son to study. We came to the conclusion that this would be family education, since an ordinary school with 30 children contributes little to development, and the phrase: “Another aunt will shape my child’s thinking” was spinning in my head all the time. We started training in the middle of summer, as we were testing this format. My son liked it and we continued studying. In my opinion, independence, perseverance, perseverance, time management and a number of other skills cannot be formed in the traditional form of education, where everything is decided for the child – when to get up, when to do, what to do. And to the question “Why?” no answers. Therefore, to develop these skills and came here. The child does not always work on his own, he needs to be motivated. We write a plan for the day, encourage its implementation, analyze the reasons, in case of non-fulfillment. But we will definitely not go to a regular school! The son decided to study at a music school, we continue to go to English (he studies from the age of 3). I like learning, we are finishing the first quarter. nine0003

My eldest son had three points – due to a lack of attention, he didn’t have time to do anything, didn’t learn / lagged behind, because of this there were conflicts with teachers and ridicule from classmates, when in September of the 3rd grade they said that in any case they would leave for 2 years for family education (by this time he had already studied with you for six months additionally to improve his knowledge). The average Internet school from the very beginning simply because of the higher quality of education, the absence of unnecessary bureaucracy and extortion for food / repairs, etc. on the experience of the eldest son. The older one still says when you ask about a regular school that he would commit suicide if he had to go back there. We also want to give the small one to you in the first class from September. nine0003

Hi all! Well, a month has passed since my 13-year-old princess studies in this system. We left the ordinary school: the princess could not find a common language with the school. What to say? In general, everything is super! Firstly, my troubled teenager had an interest in knowledge, in learning. She herself, without any control, sits down at the computer and works out. And successfully! We are reviewing the results 🙂 Secondly, there is no more hassle with the teachers and I no longer see the headmistress that bothered me. Well, how! I am absolutely sure: whoever has problems with school should study here. nine0003

I completely agree that by the 8th grade some children already know exactly who they want to become and go towards their goal. The same is my son. From the 3rd grade, he seriously began to study computer science and programming, he himself studied programming languages. It is difficult to combine hobby and school, especially when this hobby is the goal of the profession. Thank you for opening an online school where you can study anytime and anywhere, because we often go to olympiads and conferences. If in a standard school such trips were problems even for excellent students, then here we calmly go and study at the same time. Thank you! nine0003

Should You Post A Negative Employer Review?

By Monster Contributor

Body

By Mark Swartz

Reviews of employers are proliferating on the web. Current and former employees can voice their opinions about what it’s like to work at their organization.

This is usually done via social media, especially on a new breed of sites where employees critique their workplaces.

If you have complaints, how great it would be to finally voice them publicly, right?! Outsiders might learn about the real corporate culture and internal issues.

But is it worth the risk, even if you mask your identity?

Why Write A Negative (Or Neutral) Review

Employers love to see loyal workers boast about them. You can score points by praising your workplace online. Negative commentaries, on the other hand, may not be welcome.

Perhaps you’ve got a complaint about your employer and want the world to know it. Here are some reasons why you might feel like going public:

  • To pressure the employer into fixing problematic issues.
  • To warn outsiders about what’s really going on internally.
  • To vent your anger or frustration to a broad audience.
  • To get vengeance for (real or perceived) maltreatment by the employer.

When A Negative Review May Be Justified – As A Current Employee

It is dicey to expose your employer’s flaws publicly while still working there. They might retaliate against you subtly (or flagrantly). So why do people do it?

There’s at least one productive reason to post a negative review. If you do so thoughtfully – sticking to the facts, after exhausting internal processes – the employer will see how seriously you take your criticism. Think of it as a form of whistleblowing.

By making matters public it adds pressure on the employer to act promptly. They may want to resolve the problem and report that they’ve responded to your grievance.

As A Former Employee

If you’ve left an employer that treated you shabbily or has big internal problems, your conscience may incline you to warn others. You wouldn’t want innocent people to walk unknowingly into a nightmare.

Uploading an honest review that outlines the issues also gives back to the community of review posters. Will you be seeking comments about your possible next employers? If so, consider doing a solid by returning the favour.

Beware The Risks

There can be unintended consequences when posting non-positive employer reviews. Make sure to take them into account.

If you comment identifiably, your boss might not appreciate this external candidness. The employer could take measures that interfere with your job. Or find a reason to send you off gently into the night. Future employers might pause when thinking about hiring you; maybe you’ll expose their underside someday too.

Does posting anonymously on third-party sites protect you 100%? Not if you inadvertently identify yourself. Revealing insider knowledge of your division and management style, or complaining about an incident that involved just a handful of people, makes it easier to narrow down suspects.

Tips On Doing It Right

If you’re still convinced that proceeding is the best option, prepare your review so that it’s effective. And reduce the odds of saying something that will haunt you.

Do the following if you’re still employed there:

  • Read the Employee Manual and follow its social media policies.
  • Draft and publish on your own time using your own devices. Employers can use it against you if you’re writing about them disparagingly while at work.
  • Avoid mentioning any secret or intellectual property issues in your review. That’s cause for the employer to investigate and perhaps prosecute legally.
  • Be absolutely truthful in what you say (make sure you can support it with evidence if asked).
  • Point to several positives about working there as well.

For ex-employees:

  • Don’t be shrill: griping wildly portrays you as a disgruntled former staffer with little credibility.
  • Keep the review impersonal. Stick to criticizing the employer, not specific people. Never use real names of employees because you could get sued for libel or invasion of privacy.
  • Wait a while after leaving before posting. Otherwise you make yourself more identifiable.

Is There A Better Way To Achieve Your Objectives?

You might be justified in posting a negative review of your employer online. Outing the truth may lead to setting things right or preventing further damage.

Note though that regardless of your intentions or anonymity, risks remain. Ask yourself if there are more effective routes to accomplish your goals. If not, post cautiously.

Employer role in reviewing paid family and medical leave applications

As a leave administrator, you will review requests for paid leave and confirm key details of employee applications.

As a representative for your employer, you play a critical role in the review process for Paid Family and Medical Leave (PFML) applications. The Department of Family and Medical Leave (DFML) will rely on you to provide and confirm important details in each application you’re asked to review. Here’s how that process works.

Skip table of contents

Table of Contents

You skipped the table of contents section.

Reviewing an application

As soon as an employee begins a PFML application, we will notify you by email. You will get a second email when the employee submits the application. This second email will also contain a link that you can use to view the details of the employee’s application.

If you are not the right person to evaluate the employee’s application, you or someone at your organization should call (833) 344-7365 so that we can add the correct person as leave administrator to the account.

You will have 10 business days to review the leave application and verify that the information the employee provided is accurate. If we do not hear from you or another verified leave administrator from your organization in that time, we will process the application using only the information we receive.

Learn more about using the leave administrator dashboard to review applications.

Here is a list of what you may be asked to confirm or provide.

1. Other instances of paid and unpaid leave that the employee has taken in the past benefit year

You’ll be asked to tell us if the employee has taken another type of leave in the previous benefit year. (A benefit year is 52 weeks starting on the Sunday prior to the first day of paid leave through any leave program.) Other types of leave include federal programs like the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA) and independent leave offered by your employer.

Most Massachusetts employees are eligible for up to 26 weeks of combined family and medical leave per benefit year. These 26 weeks may include:

  • Up to 20 weeks of paid medical leave to manage a personal serious health condition

  • Up to 12 weeks of paid family leave to care for a family member or to bond with a child

  • Up to 26 weeks of paid family leave to care for a family member who is a member of the armed forces

Employees can take more than one kind of Paid Family and Medical Leave in a benefit year, but the maximum amount of paid leave they can take in a benefit year is 26 weeks.

Important: Family leave taken prior to July 1, 2021 to care for a family member with a serious health condition does not impact the 12-week allotment under PFML. Leave taken to bond with a child or care for an active duty service member between Jan. 1 and June 30, 2021 does count toward the maximum allotment of 26 weeks per benefit year.

For example:

  • If your employee took 8 weeks of family leave to bond with their child in 2021, they would have 4 weeks of family leave available to them to care for a family member with a serious health condition.
  • If your employee has already taken 20 weeks of medical leave in 2021, they would only have 6 weeks of leave available to them to care for a family member with a serious health condition.

2. Work patterns and hours

You’ll be asked to confirm the average number of hours the employee works per week and their leave schedule.

An employee applying for intermittent or reduced leave must confirm their leave schedule with their employer before beginning their paid leave application.

3. Reporting potential fraud

You will be asked if any of the information provided appears fraudulent. The Department takes fraud allegations seriously. We will provide additional review for any application where the paid leave administrator indicates that fraud might be taking place.

For example, if the employee is applying for leave to care for a family member with a serious medical condition, and you have reason to believe that the employee is not being truthful about the condition or the relationship, you can contest the application. Then, we will ask the employee to submit documentation confirming their relationship to the family member. This may include:

  • A copy of a legal certificate, such as a birth or marriage certificate, or a certificate of adoption
  • An affidavit attesting to their relationship with the individual who they are applying to take leave to care for

4. Approving an employee’s application

After you review the employee’s application, you will be asked to designate the application as approved, denied, or still pending. If you mark the application denied or pending, use the open text field to explain your decision based on the law and your organization’s policies.

Note: The Department ultimately approves or denies applications. Your recommendation is an important part of our decision.

Additional Resources

Reaching a decision

After we make a decision on an application that you reviewed, we will email you a link to a PDF of our notice of decision.

When an employee is out on leave

While on leave, employees can only work the schedule they agreed upon with you as part of their leave application (continuous, reduced and/or intermittent).

If an employee returns to work early, please call the Contact Center at (833)-344-7354 and let us know.

Employer documentation requirements

Employers must maintain separate files from their usual personnel files for documents relating to medical information or certifications, re-certifications, or employee medical histories.

Employees receiving additional payments from short-term disability

Some short-term disability plans will make additional payments to employees on top of their PFML benefits. This allows employees to receive as much as their regular paycheck. These payments are sometimes called “top-offs.”

You do not need to report top-off payments to DFML.

However, if you pay into a plan that pays full wages, you do need to report to DFML, as this counts as a form of leave.

Integration with Dream Job, the largest Russian resource with reviews about employers, allows you to study feedback about companies while searching for a job on hh.ru.

The widget is placed on the company’s page and on the pages of its vacancies. It contains:

  • the company’s average score on a scale of 1 to 5 points;
  • percentage of employees who recommend this employer;
  • testimonials from former and current employees;
  • the opportunity to leave feedback about the company.

At the top of the company page, the score and the total number of reviews received are available. At the bottom there is an extended widget with rating, reviews and a feedback field.

The vacancy page also provides a summary of the rating and the total number of reviews received.

Companies enable the widget at will. Information can only be seen by authorized users.

Ekaterina Kolesnikova, Head of Competitive Marketing at hh.ru
“Job seekers have been asking for business reviews functionality for a long time. This helps them make decisions about responses and employment in a particular organization. In addition, a culture of feedback has been developing lately: we see that almost all online stores have reviews about goods, in the service sector – reviews about services. People are more likely to share their experiences, both good and bad. And job boards are no exception. We believe that transparency in the relationship between job seekers and employers is about the health of the market as a whole. The company’s openness is an additional plus for the employer’s karma in the eyes of the applicant audience. We hope that this will become another market standard, another window of dialogue between our two audiences, another reason to come to hh.ru because thanks to this integration, applicants will no longer have to look for reliable information about companies in other sources, all the necessary data will be directly on the pages of vacancies and company descriptions. Did you like the vacancy? Reviews open? A good assessment and a pleasant dialogue with representatives of the organization? You can respond and not worry that an unscrupulous employer will be on the other side of the screen.

The widget is connected by companies that are ready for a dialogue with employees. Most often, they are characterized by an open corporate culture. The opinion of employees here matters, and feedback, even if it is negative, becomes an incentive for change.

One of the first employers to connect the widget was Skyeng. It is customary for the company to work with reviews on an ongoing basis.

Alexandra Volga, Head of Employer Brand Skyeng:

“We started working with reviews about two years ago. We monitor 8 sites with reviews every week and publicly respond. If we see a negative review, we understand that we have some kind of problem inside that the person could not discuss and solve with anyone, as a result, he had to write such a review in order to somehow attract our attention and express his negative. A review is, first of all, a signal that something is wrong inside us. Often this feedback becomes the basis for escalating a problem or bringing attention to a process and improving it. We also divide reviews into two categories: “can help” and “cannot help”. It happens that in a review we can be told that we did not receive feedback after the interview, and here we can help and correct the situation. But there are times when the author simply expresses an opinion about us or a situation. If we see that we were wrong, we always apologize. If we do not work with reviews publicly, then any applicant who gets to the site with reviews will simply see a lot of negativity, and the silence from the company in response seems to confirm everything that has been said. When we respond publicly, we show a different perspective if the reviewer is wrong. And if we are wrong, then the applicant sees that we are here, nearby, we are not hiding, we are responsible for our mistakes and are ready for dialogue.

Among the companies that already use the Dream Job widget on hh.ru: Tinkoff Bank, Mercedes-Benz, Skyeng, Groupe SEB (Tefal), CSSSR, Synergy, Gulfstream Security Systems, Avtorus Group, Laboratory ” Gemotest, Cyan, LSR Group, Coral Travel, University of Artificial Intelligence, English Tochka, Veeam Software, Skillbox, Like Center, Mirafox, Decathlon and others.

Use reviews as valuable additional information about the company. Pay attention to how employees describe the organization’s culture or working conditions. This will help you find the most suitable employer.

RAIN DAY – July 29, 2023

There probably would have been no life without rain, and that’s why we celebrate Rain Day on July 29. Various people and cultures have celebrated rain and its life-giving power through prayers, arts and music, folklore, and more. Rain doesn’t just water our trees and makes the earth fresh and green, the first spells of the shower after a long stretch of summer brings us so much joy! If you are lucky enough to get some rain on Rain Day, head outside to dance, walk, or sing in the rain. Today is the perfect day to feel grateful for the lovely planet that we live in and its many miracles.

History of Rain Day

Rain Day is celebrated in some way or other in most cultures in the world, and this is a day that has been celebrated for a long time now. Records show that the first Rain Day was celebrated as early as in the 1800s. William Allison, a pharmacist, is the one who should be thanked for creating the much-loved Rain Day. Legend has it that Allison had a drugstore located on High Street, in Waynesburg, Pennsylvania, and to him, it seemed that every year on July 29 it would rain without fail. The pharmacist grabbed the opportunity and declared July 29 to be celebrated as Rain Day every year!

Since then, Allison would also keep a yearly record of the rainfall on this specific date, and later his brother, Albert Allison started doing the same in the 1920s. The antics of these two brothers reached the offices of The Byron Daily and they started recording this mystical event which kept happening every year. The event probably would have remained small and local if it was not for a newsman from the area. In the 1930s, John O’Hara decided that he would send stories about Rain Day to other newspapers. As more and more people found out about Rain Day, the celebrations became widespread too. And today, newspapers and other media outlets often call up those in Waynesburg to find out if it is raining on this date. Of course, other people have started celebrating this date in their own ways. A very common way of celebrating Rain Day is by simply learning about rainfall and the importance of it, and spreading awareness about rainwater conservation.

Rain Day (July 29th) | Days Of The Year

Throughout human history, people and cultures all over the world have celebrated rain and it’s life-giving power. All life is dependent on rain, and rain is what keeps our world green and fresh and beautiful. Rain is no less important today than it has been in the past, and now people around the world have Rain Day, a day to celebrate all things wet and wonderful.

You don’t have to be a farmer with your eye on the latest batch of crops to be concerned with rain, and there are many things the ordinary person can do to celebrate. If you’re lucky enough to be somewhere where it rains on Rain Day, you can head outside to dance, sing, or just walk in the rain. If it doesn’t happen to be raining, you can serve up a delicious meal of fresh greens and other things that depend on the rain to grow, and reflect on how lucky we are to live in a rainy world.

Learn about Rain Day

Depending on where in the world you live, rain may be something that you are very much used to! For some people, they see more rain than sun, and this can cause them to become a bit frustrated by it. After all, no one likes being caught in the middle of a massive downpour, do they? However, there are a lot of reasons why we should love rain!

Yes, rain is important for certain industries, but you do not need to be a farmer in order to appreciate rain. Rain can be incredibly soothing. Have you ever laid in bed and listened to the raindrops hitting your window? It is so soothing and relaxing.

In fact, a lot of people play audio of raindrops to try and help them get to sleep at night. If you are someone who has trouble sleeping, give it a try! Rain is widely associated with relaxation. How many of you have used a rainy day as the perfect excuse to have a snug and cozy duvet day?

Rain also gives us the opportunity to show off our stylish rainwear! However, from a more technical and scientific point of view, rain is a vital part of the water cycle. Rain is vital to all life on Earth. Rainfall represents the main way in which water in the skies comes down to earth, providing drinks for animals and plants, recharging the underground aquifers, and filling our rivers and lakes.

When you think about it from this perspective, you see why rain is so critical, and why it is something that should be cherished and celebrated, which is what Rain Day is all about.

History of Rain Day

This is a day that has been celebrated for quite some time now. In fact, Rain Day first took place in the late 1800’s. We have a pharmacist, known as William Allison, to thank for this. He had a drugstore, which was located on High Street, which is the main street in Waynesburg, Pennsylvania. He remarked that it always seemed to be raining on the 29th of July.

Because of this, he decided that we would keep a yearly record of the rainfall on this specific date. After the 1920’s, his brother, Albert Allison, continued to record the results. The late Byron Daily recorded this mystical event, which kept happening every year. It would have remained a local event if it was not for a newsman from the area.

In the 1930’s, John O’Hara decided that he would send stories about Rain Day to other newspapers. Because of this, Rain Day ended up spreading to all corners of the world. Every year, newspapers and other media outlets will often call into Waynesburg to find out if it is raining on this date.

Of course, other people have started to celebrate this date in their own areas by simply learning about rainfall and the importance of it, as well as spreading this awareness.

How to celebrate Rain Day

There are a number of different ways that you can celebrate Rain Day. If you happen to live near Waynesburg, you will definitely want to consider making a trip to the town and celebrating. There are bound to be a number of different events that are going on.

If you don’t live anywhere near this part of the world, this does not mean you cannot celebrate. If it is raining in your area, why not do a bit of dancing in the rain? There is something incredibly invigorating about this!

Why not treat yourself to a new jacket on Rain Day? There are so many different options to choose from. Biker jackets, macs, caps, blazers, swing coats, fur jackets, bomber jackets, parkas… to name a mere few! And that is without even mentioning the various materials, colours and designs on the Internet.

Of course, the choice is a great thing, but it can definitely make it difficult when it comes to buying a jacket or coat. You find yourself torn between an array of gorgeous styles. The last thing you want to do is make a quick-fire purchase and then end up with a jacket you never wear because it does not protect you from the rain outside!

Before you go for the out-there pink patterned mac, you need to ensure you have your wardrobe staple, i.e. something that goes with most of your outfits and you can wear again and again. Colour is always an important consideration. Classic colors, such as navy, cream and black, never go out of fashion.

You can’t go wrong with one of these shades. That’s not to say you can’t go for a vibrant or bold color! Red raincoats have been at the height of fashion for many years – the perfect way to brighten up a winter day.

You can also spend Rain Day learning more about rain and the importance of it. Thanks to the Internet, it is easier than it ever has been to get our hands on information and learn more about the world. You can find out about parts of the world that have the most rain, as well as those parts of the world that barely get any rain at all.

There are also a lot of interesting facts about rain as well, some of which may surprise you. For example, did you know that there is such a thing as phantom rain? This refers to raindrops that do not reach the ground.

You can also spend some time learning about how rainfall is predicted from the different types of clouds. It really is a fascinating subject that is worth delving deeper into. Why not share some of your knowledge with your friends, family members, and followers on social media too? We are sure that they will be fascinated to learn more about your findings, and this will help to spread awareness about the day in general as well, which is always a good thing.

18.02.2015 Welcome!
We are glad to welcome you to the online store of bulk perfume Reni in Perm!

Perfume world, wholesale company

PRICE INCREASE!!!

We welcome you to our website www.sib-reni.ru in the online store!

DEAR BUYERS AND VISITORS OF OUR SITE!

We offer perfume lotions from the RENI collection that are not subject to mandatory labeling

We continue to work as an online store!!!

DEAR CUSTOMERS! Please pay attention to important news!

For many years RENI has made every effort to keep the price at the same level system – calculations at the rate of the Central Bank.

As you know, the perfume composition that we use in the production of perfumes is French. In European countries, over the past few months, energy resources have significantly risen in price and this could not but lead to an increase in the cost of both production processes and all other components (packaging, logistics, etc.). All these factors eventually, unfortunately, influenced the price of the finished product. nine0972

So, from December 28, 2022, the cost at the exchange rate of the Central Bank on the day of placing the order will be:

  • 1 pc. Perfume Reni – 5.0 EUR
  • 1 pc. Reni Selective – 6.25 EUR
  • 1 pc. oil Reni — 4.5 euros
  • 1 pc. oil Reni Selective – 5.0 euro

For bottles and accessories, while the prices in $ have not changed, BUT the calculation is in rubles at the exchange rate of the Central Bank on the day of placing the order. nine0972

We hope for your understanding and look forward to long-term cooperation.

The city of San Antonio is located in the state of Texas, in its northern part. The border with Mexico runs 250 km to the north. The state capital is the city of Austin, which is 100 km away. 400 km separate San Antonio from Dallas, 300 km from Houston.

San Antonio is a rather large city, 1,373 thousand people live in it. It is the seventh largest city in America. If you also take into account the suburbs, then we can consider that more than 2 million people live in San Antonio. The history of the city dates back to the 17th century. It was then that Spanish missionaries discovered a small Indian community. It happened on the day when it is customary to honor Saint Atony. The Spaniards decided to establish a mission here, and a nearby river was named after the saint. Over the years, the mission has grown, by now it has turned into a huge city that bears the name of San Antonio.

San Antonio City Map

The feature that distinguishes this city from many other settlements is an amazing mixture of many cultures and traditions. The inhabitants of the city are represented by a variety of races and nationalities, but none of them have lost their individuality. The constant holding of holidays, carnivals and fiestas in San Antonio turns the city into a generally recognized tourist center, which has a lot of attractions and a wide range of entertainment. A huge number of tourists arriving in the city helps to receive the airport located 20 km away.

Attractions

One of the most beautiful places in the city is the beautiful River Wok embankment. No less attractive is the historic temple-fortress known as the Alamo Mission. In San Diego, there are a lot of opportunities to get closer to the Spanish-speaking culture, whose representatives are called the beautiful word Tejano.

Alamo. At present, this Spanish mission has been partially reconstructed. It is located in one of the central places of the city. mid 19century, during the years of the civil war in Texas, the mission tried to gain independence, to become independent from Mexico. That battle for the Alamo is one of the brightest pages that make up the history of Texas. During the defense of their land from the Mexican army, almost 200 people died, but General Antonio Lopez de Santa Anna failed to take the fortress.

River Wok. This place has another version of the name – Paseo del Rio. It is a 4 km long pedestrian promenade located next to the San Antonio River. The river flows in the very center of the city. The location of the embankment is amazing – one level lower than the streets and highways.

At its core, the River Wok is a walking area, the elegant design of which is an artificial landscape, picturesque coastal gorges, winding paths, a huge number of beautiful fountains and waterfalls, bridges. The embankment is also not without rare trees and tropical flowers. Numerous restaurants, cafes, theaters, shops and even nightclubs located along the entire embankment will make the walk even more romantic.

A large number of water transport floats along the course of the river, offering walking and taxi services. Every spring, the city hosts a Fiesta parade. At this time, the river becomes unrecognizable. A lot of boats float along it, decorated with beautiful plants and flowers. This is a spectacle of incredible beauty. Once you see it, you can never forget it.

The River Wok and Alamo Fortress are far from the only attractions in San Antonio. Every tourist has the opportunity to visit a huge number of museums, parks, galleries. Not far from the waterfront there is a historic district that bears the beautiful name of La Villita. There are shops and stalls selling souvenirs. You can also buy art objects and national paraphernalia here.

A little further south is another area with the proud name of King William. The houses built in the Victorian style are perfectly preserved here as nowhere else, which creates the unique charm of this place of San Antonio.

A unique place in San Antonio is El Mercado. This is the largest Mexican market in America. A variety of jewelry, clothes, items for various purposes can be purchased here at the best prices. In the same area, there are some other attractions that are also very interesting for their history and content.

For example, San Fernando. This is a functioning Catholic cathedral. Its charm is not only in its beauty and harmony, but also in the fact that it is the oldest Catholic church in the territory of all the States. The Palace of the Spanish Governor is also of great historical value.

There are several other interesting places not far from the fortress. These should definitely include the Children’s Museum and the Buckhorn Museum Restaurant. Here you can travel back in time, plunging into the atmosphere of the old West for a moment.

Hemispher Park keeps in its depths the symbol of the city – the Tower of the Americas. Its height is 229 meters, at the very top there is a revolving restaurant. Interesting from the point of view of the architectural solution of the building can be seen from afar. There are two observation decks at an altitude of 170 and 176 meters. They have a very good view of the whole city.

Entertainment

San Atonio is not without entertainment. So, in the SeaWorld San Antonio park, you can see a stunning water show, marine mammals, and also visit the aquarium. Six Flags Fiesta is an amusement park. Splashtown is a wonderful water park, water amusement park.

Another similar place – Schlitterbahn – is located a few kilometers from the city in the town of New Braunfels. The uniqueness of this park is that its two parts are separated from each other by residential areas, in the restaurants of which you can taste traditional dishes: barbecue, apple strudel, German sausages.

San Antonio is one of the best starting points for traveling in Texas. With just 200 kilometers, you can see the splendor of the sandy beaches of the Gulf of Mexico, as well as visit other cities, see their splendor and feel like a part of the historical process.

Geography

The main directions of economic development of San Antonio are financial services, healthcare, tourism. In addition, a number of military bases and enterprises of the military-industrial complex are located not far from the city.

In terms of race, just over 70% of all city residents are white. Just over 7% are African American. The remaining insignificant part is Asians, Indians and representatives of other races. More than half of the city’s residents are of Mexican origin.

The climate in San Antonio is warm. During the summer months it is especially hot and humid here. Winters are rarely very cold, but often cool. So it is best to make trips to this wonderful city in spring or autumn, when the weather conditions are more favorable. In addition, there are not as many tourists at this time as in summer.

Hello friends! If you are soon taken to the Wild West, you need to be ready for it! I don’t mean loading revolvers, harnessing horses and wearing cowboy hats and boots. Oh, you are my brave cowboys! ? I mean, you need to study everything before you go. Is there anything to see in Texas? Or maybe it’s not worth going?

You don’t know what people who ALWAYS travel live on? We also love this business, but you also need to earn money, otherwise, at whose expense is the banquet? Therefore, the option of traveling on a local scale is very suitable for us. So, get out, you know, for the weekend. And not expensive, and new impressions. So that the soul does not grow old!

What to see in Texas?

San Antonio

Be sure to check out the Alamo fortification and the River Walk.

The Alamo is of historical value as part of a fortification in the Texas War of Independence. The fortress was built in 1744, i.e. she is over 270 years old! This place is visited by 2.5 million people a year.

River Walk is a walking street in the heart of San Antonio with restaurants and shops for all tastes. Don’t forget to take a mini-cruise on the river. ?

Not far from San Antonio there are stalactite caves.

This cave system is the largest available to visit in the United States. There are various themed tours (adventurous people will like the lantern tour?).

Big Bend National Park

Big Bend National Park is located in the southwest of the state, on the border with Mexico. The park is conventionally divided into three zones: the Rio Grande Valley, the desert and the mountains. There are several hiking trails here, ranging from the 8km Lost Mine Trail to the 27km Window Trail that winds its way through the mountains. There are longer trails for extreme sportsmen, but they have to be passed with professionals. ?

There are also three canyons on the Rio Grande: the Mariscal, Boquillas, and Santa Elena Canyons, which rise more than 500 meters above the river.

Guadalupe Mountains National Park

Do you want something just so deserted? ? Then you are here. This national park is located in the northwest of the state, 160 km from the city of El Paso. Here is the highest point in the state of Texas – Guadalupe Peak and also many trails for hiking enthusiasts.

The capital of Texas, the city of Austin

Here’s what you need to see in Texas, so this is the state capital!

The Austin Capitol was built in 1888. In the large park near the Capitol, you will see statues of the defenders of the Alamo and Vietnam War veterans. Statues of veterans, I mean, not veterans themselves. Although … who knows! ?

When it gets dark, walk to the Ann W. Richards Congress Avenue Bridge to watch thousands of bats scurrying back and forth.

Also be sure to visit the Zilker Metropolitan Park and the Botanical Garden.

Well, or the Umlauf Sculpture Garden. And you can do both. Why not? You can afford it! ?

City of Corpus Christi and Padre Island

Here is the largest surviving ship from the Second World War. Now there is a museum where you can look at interesting exhibits, as well as play simulation games and watch 3D films where you are in the helmsman’s chair. ?

Also nearby is Padre Island, where you can enjoy the Gulf of Mexico.

Well, these are the sights in Texas. ?

Well, are you coming to us? If you start your journey from Houston, then Moscow-Houston tickets now start from $500 per person. It’s a pity that the direct flight has now been canceled! In general, prices for food, housing, and everything in general are much lower here than in California and New York. Well, if you still can’t afford it, then you can always go to our Russian south, right? By the way, we don’t even have a bad time there. For example, if you go to Anapa, here is an example of one sanatorium website for you, study the offers. If you don’t want to go to the sanatorium yourself, send your parents. Who else will take care of them if not us?

Oksana Bryant was with you, bye bye! ?

All last year, teachers, children and their parents held events on the theme “Let’s play, we’ll get to know Kursk!”. Thanks to hard work, the kindergarten received a well-deserved award.

This is the second victory for the city of Kursk. Earlier, Kindergarten No. 127 won in the nomination “Effective network project for patriotic education.”
