1. WayUp
An American take on job hunting for millennials is WayUp. Basically, everything is like in the good old Headhunter: there are profiles of applicants, there are announcements of vacancies, both parties can search for each other through filters, money is taken from employers, everything is free for candidates.
The first difference from the classics is the specialization in students and graduates. No one has significant work experience, which, of course, significantly limits the range of potential vacancies, but selection according to formal criteria works better: suitable universities and the average score can be put in the filter, and there is nothing else in the resume, no field for the subjective ” I do not like”. Yes, in many ways this is the advantage of the chosen category, and not the service, but who will understand – the percentage of suitable candidates among those offered by WayUp is high, HRs are satisfied, the startup boasts.

5. Carvana
And there is life in almost pure offline — startup Carvana has reached its billionth IPO. The result is not the loudest in world history, but in any case excellent for a four-year-old company.
To understand the reasons for this success, you first need to go to a large showroom to any major car dealer. It is almost always a huge glass palace, standing on some good land, in or near the city, and worth about a fortune. These reviews have to be fake. My child went to Ms. Tariq and I pulled my baby out within two weeks because it was clear she was not running a safe, clean and nurturing daycare. When I would arrive at 8:30am, she would have the lights off and be half awake even though she opened at 8am. She also put my baby in a bouncer inside a crib. A bouncer is only supposed to be on a flat surface. My baby was also covered in spit up on most days I arrived. She wouldn’t ever change him into the clean clothes I provided. I don’t believe that majority of these reviews are real. Her daycare also appeared dirty.

We sent our son here so he could interact with more kids. He warmed up to Ms. Tariq very quickly, never cried, and withing a week didn’t seem upset at all about me leaving. He has make great developmental strides while here. He is speech delayed, but since coming here he is talking more and more. He has started drawing, which was something I could not get him to do. I have noticed at the playground he waits his turn to go down the slide. He overall enjoys coming here and is always happy and in a good mood when I pick him up.

Obviously as an in-home daycare, the facilities aren’t as impressive as a bigger institution’s, but it’s more than made up for in this warm, cozy & loving environment.

Thank his is the most wonderful daycare we have ever found. My son has been attending Star Daycare for 6 months, he is 20 months, now, and he truly loves it! He has learned so much, has so much fun and is so cared for by Mrs. Tariq and her helper!

I have had the privilege to send all three of my children to Star Daycare with Mrs. Tariq over the years. My children all began with her around the ages of 6-10 weeks until they were over 2 and are currently ages 4, 2, and 4 months old. Mrs. Tariq welcomed my children every morning with a smile and hug. My children had wonderful care while they were with her and her assistant Ms. Lettie. I felt as though they treated my children like one of their own. The daycare environment is also clean and welcoming for a child. There are many toys and activities for infants and toddlers and Mrs. Tariq would also incorporates many songs and books throughout the day to engage the children. There is also a fenced in outdoor area with toys that my children especially enjoyed on beautiful days. We were very fortunate to have found Star Daycare and highly recommend it.

Mrs. Tariq and her assistant provide top notch care for our one year old. We transitioned our daughter because we wanted her to be around toddlers her age. Within one week of our daughter attending Star Daycare she was walking and attempting to say words. Mrs. Tariq provides a curriculum for learning that is aligned to Fairfax county daycare. She also updates us daily with the progress of our child.
When we drop our baby off she eagerly runs to play and when we pick her up we have to chase her to leave.
Developmentally our daughter has made tremendous gains which was major for us because we wanted to ensure that what we were teaching at home was being implemented at childcare. She also works with your schedule so days that I am running late she accommodates.
We are pleased with selecting Star Day Care as our childcare provider.

Mrs. Tariq has been my baby’s part-time daycare provider since she was 3 months old. As a first time mom, I was anxious to choose a daycare but so happy we brought our little one to this place. I can’t believe she’s 10 months here and she’s a year old plus now. We are so thankful that we found this place so close to us. They always provided the best care and love for my baby.
Mrs. Tariq and Letty are both wonderful – responsible, sweet, kind, loving and nurturing. As both of them are mothers as well, I felt I picked the right provider. My baby loves both of them and so do we! They are amazing and has become like a family to us. When I drop her off, my baby smiles and adores both of them. she immediately clings to their arms without crying. I can tell that my baby felt comfortable She also enjoys playtime with other babies. When I pick her up, Mrs. Tariq has been great in informing me about their day-to-day activities. I also like it when Mrs. Tariq showed me the arts and craft projects to enhance their learning experience. On the other note, she informs me about how Adeline’s day went as well. They helped my baby through tummy-times, crawling to transition standing and she’ll be walking pretty soon!
I cannot say enough wonderful things about the daycare facility itself. It’s very clean, well-maintained, new rug carpets, lots of well-organized toys and cribs for the young ones. They also have a very nice play area in the backyard where it is safe. This is the best place for your children to be cared for. It has been great to be able to leave your child feeling that they are safe coz they are in good hands with this daycare while I am at work. I would highly recommend this provider.

It took me a while to find a daycare for my 1 and a half year old son that I felt comfortable leaving him at while my husband and I were at work. Mrs. Tariq and her assistant Letty immediately made us feel at ease. It is so comforting to know he is safe and having fun while we’re at work. They have a nice outside backyard play area and a large addition to their house just for the kids. Highly recommend The Star Daycare!

I sent my son to Ms. Tariq when he was only 3 months old. It was very difficult for me to leave him because he was so young, but I had to return to work. Sending him to this daycare made the transition so much easier. They cared for my son so well, holding him, singing to him, and playing with him. I had such peace of mind sending him here. I am so sad that I have to take my son out of Star Daycare, but we are moving. My son loves the staff there, and I know they care deeply for him as well. I highly recommend this daycare to anyone who wants their child to be in a caring and loving environment!

Our son has almost been here a year and every day we walk up to the door he gets super excited and can’t wait to play. In fact there are days where my son doesn’t want to leave but wants me to stay and play with him! We couldn’t suggest Mrs. Tariq any more than we already do when we talk to other people. Our work schedules can sometimes shift and change but it’s always accommodated. I always feel that our son is safe and happy when we drop him off.

We had a great experience at Star Daycare. The location was perfect, since we live right down the road. Mrs. Tariq is very loving and also has a wonderful staff. Our daughter attended Star for about nine months, beginning right after she turned one year old. I definitely recommend Star Daycare, especially for small children under age two.You will know your children are in good hands.

We sent our daughter to Mrs. Tariq when she was just ten weeks old. She is now almost two and skips out the door every morning excited to see “all her friends” at Star Daycare. We now also have our four month old son at Star daycare as well and Mrs. Tariq has been such a blessing for our children. I know that they are in good hands when I drop them off each morning and it is so reassuring to see my kids smiling and happy when I pick them up. What more could I ask for?

Ms. Tariq is amazing – we love her. The first time my 14 week old son, Daniel, met her was when I went to pick up his registration paperwork. Daniel was fussy, I was embarrassed… you know the deal. Ms. Tariq took him and did some magical back rub and 3 seconds later, he was cooing and laughing. She’s now his best friend. Our relationship with Ms. Tariq has been nothing but wonderful, and our son loves her. Very highly recommended.

Star Daycare is welcoming, clean, and well maintained. Staffed by very kind, friendly women who care greatly about their kids. The hours are accommodating. Provider is willing to work with parents to meet a family’s unique needs.

I interviewed several Daycares before feeling good about leaving my new first born with Mrs. Tariq. I cried the first day I left him with her and she reassured me with a warm hug and encouraged me to visit anytime I wanted. There has not been a day that I have picked up my son and he has not had a wide smile.
She truly loves each of her children and her enjoyment shows. The kids learn their alphabets, numbers and sing songs daily that help them learn quickly. The age group is diverse from infant to 2 years so the younger ones benefits from learning from the older children by observing and listening. I plan to stay in touch with Mrs. Tariq as my son gets older because I’ve come to appreciate her level of care and consider her family.

My toddler went to the Star Daycare full time for 2 and a half months. It was a big change from the daycare center that we used to go to, but we liked that Mrs. Tariq accommodated for individual kids’s needs rather than having set rules (such as no morning nap, no warm milk, and must eat table food after 12 months). My daughter seemed much happier here.

I feel so fortunate to have found Mrs. Tariq to care for my daughter from when she was an infant through her busy toddler time! Mrs. Tariq creates an atmosphere of love and family, and my daughter is so happy to go to daycare. She adores Mrs. Tariq and loves playing with her little friends, and I get tremendous comfort from knowing that my daughter is in good hands.

Ms. Tariq was there for us at the moment we needed. After many months looking for daycare, I finally found an available spot at the Star Daycare. Our daughter was born 2 weeks earlier than expected and Ms. Tariq took her when she was just 8 weeks old. Unfortunately we leave too far away from Ms. Tariq and the commute forced us to change daycare once a spot opened just across the street from us. Ms. Tariq took care of our daughter for 1 month, but I can tell that we had a great experience and if wasn’t for the distance we would have kept her there. The Star Daycare is a family environment and we appreciate her attention and love to our daughter during that month. They also have an awesome playground outside.

Ms. Tariq took care of my daughter for one year. She also took care of my son. Several feelings come to mind when I think about Ms. Tariq…love, joy, peace, and calm. This woman is family. That’s the best way to put it. She’s an extension of my own mother. A very nurturing and relaxing nature to her. I can’t even type this without a huge wave of love washing over me. My kids are my life, and I trust this woman with my life. The litmus test of happiness for any parent is their children’s. My kids were happy with her. Over the moon happy. To infinity and beyond happy. Playing, laughing, and enjoying life. Best decision of my life was putting my kids in her care.

We feel very lucky that the Star Daycare was recommended to us. Our daughter absolutely loves going there every day! Mrs. Tariq provides a safe, loving, and fun environment where young children can learn and play. We really appreciate how much individual attention the kids get throughout the day. It’s amazing to think back on how much Lexi has gained during her time there– when she first started, she learned how to eat solid foods by watching the older kids, and today Mrs. Tariq is teaching her letters and numbers! We are comfortable each day that we’re leaving Lexi in good hands, and would definitely recommend the Star Daycare.

My husband and I interviewed a half dozen daycares before we found Star Daycare. We lived in DC, and worked in Tysons and Rockville. Mrs. Tariq’s location wasn’t central to any of those locations, but we felt so comfortable with her after meeting her in person that decided that a drive out of the way was worth it to have fantastic care. We love that she speaks several different languages, and that our son received well rounded care with Mrs. Tariq; he was loved and cared for, and learned and thrived in her care for almost four years. Our son was diagnosed with Asperger’s Syndrome last year, and she was a pro at handling some of the challenges that come along with a kid who’s got a touch of OCD and some other quirks (as I fondly call them). Our son just started a new preschool a few weeks ago (to receive additional services, OT, PT, etc.), and while our son is adjusting well, we already miss Mrs. Tariq. We really felt like she was an extended part of our family, and appreciated how much she truly loved and cared for our son.

When I was pregnant with my daughter I had a mix of emotions between excitement to meet her and anxiety in making decisions that would help her grow. Mrs. Tariq relinquished me of any doubt I had about leaving my child with another family during the day. She made my decision easy and since I have never had a single regret. General Info
The Childcare Learning Center Stamford (CLC) was established in 1902 as the Stamford Day Nursery to provide care for the children of working families. Since then, CLC has grown and is now licensed to serve 1,250 children and their families daily. The center provides a comprehensive range of programs and services that both empower and nurture young children during their most formative years. CLC serves all children and their families within the greater Stamford and Greenwich areas of Conn. Children with special needs or handicaps are welcome. Children may be enrolled throughout the year for both full-time and part-time programs. CLC is a community of caring professionals working in close collaboration with the Stamford Board of Education. All teachers hold college degrees in Early Childhood Education and/or Child Development Associate certificates. All staff members are certified in pediatric first aid, CPR, as well as receiving continual in-service training.

As a child and young adult, I hated the drudgery of school. I don’t remember ever looking forward to a day of class, from kindergarten until I dropped out of college after my first year. Leaving felt like a pardon from the governor.
Of course, I’m not so special; plenty of kids are unhappy at school. School is undoubtedly good for most kids, but unless your child is weirdly into social science, there’s no use telling her that “education stimulates subjective well-being outcomes in the long run.” What ruins the experience for so many—as it did for me—is that, right now, school is lonely and boring.
A tour through the research on learning and happiness reveals that kids’ feelings about school have less to do with age, race, or socioeconomic background than two basic factors: friendship and interest. Fortunately, with a little knowledge about both, we can make life better for all the students out there who have just gloomily returned to school or are dreading the prospect in the coming days.
When it comes to long-term well-being, few interventions raise happiness as much as education. In 2015, using data from adult populations across 85 countries, the Austrian researcher Erich Striessnig found that people who had completed secondary education were 10 percent more likely to say they were happy than those who hadn’t finished high school, after controlling for income differences. Meanwhile, a completed college education raised happiness by 30 percent.
One possible explanation for these findings is that learning stimulates a powerful basic positive emotion: interest. Carroll Izard, an emotion researcher, defines interest as “the central motivation for engagement in creative and constructive endeavors and for the sense of well-being.” Simply put, exposing people to ideas and the means to acquire knowledge gives them the tools to produce ongoing happiness throughout their life. It’s no surprise, then, that reading—which adults try to cultivate a love of in children—has been found to increase life satisfaction.
Yet children’s attitudes while they’re in school don’t reflect education’s enormous happiness benefits later in life. In a 2020 survey of more than 21,000 American high schoolers, the top two feelings students said they experienced at school were “stressed” (79.8 percent) and “bored” (69.5 percent). Some of them expressed positive emotions such as pride and cheerfulness, but overall, nearly 75 percent of their self-reported feelings related to school were negative.
You could easily dismiss this mismatch as something of a grasshopper-and-ant problem, in which effort that’s a drag in the moment leads to great outcomes later on. But I think there’s more to it than that. For many children, school is not just hard work, but also intensely isolating. Research shows that 80 percent of children face loneliness at times in school; that emotion is linked to boredom, inactivity, a tendency to withdraw into fantasy, and a passive attitude toward social interactions. To say that loneliness can kill interest in school is not an exaggeration.
Conversely, friendship at school is by far the biggest predictor of enjoyment and positive behaviors. Gallup has found that having a best friend at school is the best predictor of student engagement in both fifth grade and 11th. Similarly, a study from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, the University of Warwick, and the National Bureau of Economic Research shows that students with “reciprocal friendships” (wherein both sides see the relationship the same way) are more likely to enjoy school and are more successful in the classroom.
One common force that foments loneliness in school has been around forever. According to the National Center for Education Statistics, 20.2 percent of American students ages 12 to 18 report being bullied at school. Many studies have clearly linked both traditional bullying and cyberbullying to social anxiety and depression. Bullying may also lead to problems with academic achievement, kids’ desire to do well in class, and absenteeism.
In recent months, students have had to contend with another driver of isolation: pandemic-related stoppages of in-person schooling, which have been catastrophic for students’ loneliness. A 2020 survey conducted on behalf of Common Sense Media found that 42 percent of teenagers felt “more lonely than usual.” The same survey found that “almost one in four teens (24%) say they’re connecting with their teachers less than once a week.” Like so many parents, I’ve seen this firsthand. My daughter spent her last year and a half of high school bored and “lonely as a cloud,” to borrow from Wordsworth, and she didn’t even have the heart to attend her graduation.
If we are to help kids gain happiness from their education in the short and long term, we need to bring to bear more resources to facilitate friendship, which tends to solve both the loneliness and boredom problems. There is a great deal of research on this subject, and practical resources for making friendship easier for all students to achieve.
Adults who want school to be a happier place can work meaningfully against cliques and bullying, which destroy children’s morale. Studies show that programs that work to prevent bullying in school can cut the problem by about 20 percent. Adults should not be passive, hoping that the problem will take care of itself. The effective interventions all involve acknowledging that there is a problem and dealing with it directly.
Meanwhile, students need more opportunities to make in-person friends. Research shows that remote social interactions are a woefully inadequate substitute for in-person ones when it comes to loneliness and well-being; if adults don’t find ways to keep schools open as we continue to struggle with the pandemic, children’s suffering will be compounded. (As my colleague Joshua D. Coval shows in his research, in many cases political motivations—not health concerns—are what get in the way of reopening schools.) Even before the pandemic, however, students’ screens and smartphones—the use of which is negatively associated with an ability to make friends—were crowding out in-person interactions.
Making friends can be a challenge at any age. For kids (or adults) who crave concrete guidelines, some recent research using novel artificial-intelligence methods offers useful advice. The data indicate that social praise (noticing and remarking on what people do well) and mimicry (for example, laughing with others) are great ways to start making connections. But we hardly need computers to tell us this—you can find the same lesson repeated thousands of ways, in every culture. And plenty of resources put it into a handy form, including religious scriptures and practices as well as Dale Carnegie’s 1936 classic, How to Win Friends and Influence People, which teaches 37 commonsense lessons for treating other people with dignity, respect, and even love. Teaching these character lessons in school might help kids enjoy it more too.
I’m not going to claim that I have unilaterally cracked the problem of kids grumbling about school here. As long as they (or you, if you are a student) have to get up early, sit still for hours at a time, and do homework, school is not going to be all strawberries and cream. Even those who love to learn will find things they dislike.
But these are small problems compared with what truly strips the delight out of school. With more friendship, students will find greater joy and interest, which can turn misery into minor annoyance. And that sets everyone up for education’s long-run happiness benefits.

7. Unhealthy social interactions
Establishing and maintaining friendships is a common struggle among kids, mainly because their moods fluctuate drastically.
These sorts of challenges may lead to loneliness in some cases; that’s why acquiring confidence is essential so kids can freely communicate with their friends without hesitation.
Sometimes, a child may also disdain teachers or instructors in class. But this can often transform from a simple fleeting emotion to a permanent one, causing kids to act defiantly.

8. Lack of interest in subjects discussed

School is not for everyone. Those kids are bright in their own rights, just not with school requirements and lessons.
No matter how much kids try, their efforts might not be enough to achieve their goals and meet your expectations. Unfortunately, this often leads to lost motivation for school.
To overcome this, try not to negatively comment on your child’s performance. Instead, opt to communicate with love and encourage them to pursue subjects they excel at while attempting to perform adequately in others.

10. The learning method does not suit them
Uniqueness is the primordial truth of life. This extends to each student’s preferred learning method.

7 reasons why children don’t want to study
Sometimes a child at the beginning or right after it suddenly stops being interested in studying and declares: “I don’t want to study anymore! I’m sick of!” What is this? Where does motivation go? Our blogger Tatyana Mirovskaya believes that there may be several reasons for this behavior.
“My child doesn’t want to study!” – how often you hear this phrase from parents during consultations! Let’s try to find the reasons, shall we? It hardly happened in one day. It doesn’t happen that the teacher is excellent, you praise the child and systematically support his cognitive interest, he develops and learns according to the optimal plan, and then bam, and “Mom, how tired I am of learning!”.
I almost never heard such requests from parents of preschool children (I mean now parents of normotypical children), maybe only a couple of times in my entire practice. But these parents came with a willingness to spend their time and energy on working with the child, and the problems disappeared quickly enough.
More often parents of school-age children, students of the third-fifth grades, face the reluctance to study. Well, so are the parents of teenagers, but everything is easily laid out in terms of physiology and age-related psychological norms. That is, it is normal when a teenager switches from studies to relationships with other people, this is a normal stage of growing up.
What could be the reasons for not wanting to learn from a student in grades 2-5? I will try to systematize the experience of my clients, students, colleagues and my own.
1. Not formed cognitive interest
Children are inquisitive by nature! Remember the children who have just learned to get up and begin to explore the space around, they are interested in everything: the carpet on the floor, and the locker door, and the cat lying on the sofa, and flowers … Yes, they taste everything, smell, look, listen , touch with their hands, while still poorly controlling their body. Kids need this experience! The child wants to know the world around him by available means, to satisfy the thirst for knowledge.
What does the parent often do? He puts the child in the playpen, locks all the lockers, removes everything from the shelves. What is left for the child to do? Be content with what is given. A little later, the child is interested in your affairs: he wants to make pies, pour tea into a cup, wash dishes, press the buttons of the washing machine … Some mothers, not understanding the importance of this stage in the formation of motivation, remove children from adult affairs, because “there is no time”, “not hunting”, “I’ll do it myself faster”.
2. Lack of ability to wait and work
These children were “overfed” with toys and gifts. They were always given a lot, sometimes too many things. They still didn’t have time to wish, to dream about a new toy, but they already had it. Often parents replaced communication with new toys. Such children are not taught to make efforts, overcome obstacles, negotiate, feel the joy of the new. Any difficulty in learning causes them to refuse to work.
3. Early start
These are children who began to purposefully and systematically study from the age of four or five. These are the children who read from four, write from five, masterfully count on the abacus from six. Only one question torments me (as a specialist): why? Why do we teach to read if not all sounds are set, and phonemic hearing leaves much to be desired? Why should a child count within a hundred if he does not have an understanding of the place of a number in a sequence, and he still confuses right and left? It is important to lay a good foundation before the age of seven, to “lay the foundation”, as I say, then it will be easy and interesting to study at school.
4. Poor quality education at school
Yes, such a reason has appeared in our time. When a teacher leads two classes and works in two shifts, when there are 34-36 children in a class instead of the prescribed 25, when the number of reports required from the teacher significantly exceeds the number of hours for preparing for lessons, what kind of quality will we be talking about here? It’s not even a matter of the teacher’s personality, with such a load it is physically impossible to teach children in a quality manner! The teacher simply has no time to think that if Vasya didn’t understand the material in this way, then he should try with him like this. Parents are not specialists, they also cannot assess what exactly does not go with the child, what skill is not formed in order to evaluate and help in time. If the child did not understand something, did not learn it, did not work it out, then he will not want to learn. Who wants to feel constantly unsuccessful?
5. Lack of support from parents
It seems that all parents wish their children well, it seems that everyone talks about the importance of education, forbids gadgets. Why can’t the child hear? He hears you and even, most likely, understands and tries. But every little luck (I wrote the dictation not with ten mistakes, as usual, but with only five), parents tend not to notice (“It’s still a deuce!”). But each remark or bad mark is inflated to the scale of a universal tragedy (“Well, you’re disgracing me again!”). It is difficult for a child to resist such an adult. After a couple of attempts to take the parent as an ally, the child decides not to waste his energy anymore where he is again unsuccessful.
6. Biological reasons that prevent the child from learning educational material
The child has developmental features that the parent knows or does not know about. More often he suspects, but does not want to think about it, hoping that “everything will pass by itself. ” More often than not, it doesn’t go away, but only gets worse with age, and in the fourth grade, parents are looking for specialists of all stripes to help. How much time has been lost, how much effort has been invested by both the child and the parent in the wrong place! More often than not, both the school and the parents themselves call such a student simply lazy (“He can, but he doesn’t want to at all!”). Let me just remind you that laziness is a protective reaction of the body to overload or learning difficulties.
7. A child’s overload
When he doesn’t have a single minute of free time just to do nothing, when there is a “drama club, photo club, and I also want to sing”, there may simply not be enough resources for studying at school.
What to do?
Look for the cause and work with the cause. Do not be afraid to unload children, admit your parental mistakes and mistakes, do not be afraid to turn to specialists, find a resource and words of support for children, teach them to see the good.
I am glad that now there are more and more alternatives to ordinary schools, where really talented teachers teach different children and with the help of different interesting methods. Do not be afraid, look for the right ways, the right people, the right advice and recommendations for your child. There is no single algorithm and magic wand, but there are real children and their problems. We have to work with them.

Almost half of the students do not want to study because they dislike the teacher. This is reported by representatives of the Association of Child Psychologists and Psychiatrists of Russia. What should I do if my child refuses to go to school?
A stranger among strangers
It is especially difficult for first-graders, because the euphoria of the first days is often replaced by depression. Primary school teacher Svetlana Nagornaya , who has been working with children for 16 years, spoke about the reasons for not wanting to attend classes. Most often they originate in the family in which the future student is brought up.
The school for first-graders is a new place that many of them, due to their age, imagine quite differently and often associate with kindergarten. And if there the child was in a familiar team and familiar cozy walls, at school in long corridors he remains alone with himself. Of course, teachers gradually help to adapt to new conditions, but this takes time.
It would be nice if the first days parents were allowed not only to bring their children to the porch, but also to be at school with them. Someone will say that this hinders the development of independence, but everything must be done gradually. Why do children of school teachers often do better than others? Because they are next to their mother.
Primary school teachers recommend that first-graders take their favorite toy with them during the first term.
Parents’ fears
Parents are often afraid that something bad might happen at school: a conflict with classmates, a teacher, a trauma. And children are “infected” with this fear.
“I had a student who constantly called home with such words – mother, I went up the stairs, mother, I will now go down from the third floor. When I talked to my parents, I found out that they were very afraid that their son would fall,” the woman says.
A psychologist will help you get rid of fear, and it is not necessary to pay money for a consultation. It is enough to contact the municipal psychological center in the area where you live – assistance is provided there free of charge.
Relatives do not like school
“During the first lesson, I usually ask first-graders to draw the school as they imagine it. At least a third of the students in the pictures are dominated by black color and angry grimaces of teachers and classmates. From conversations with children, I learned that they heard a lot of bad things about the school. A big mistake is made by those who assure kids that “childhood is over.” And negative stories about the school finally confirm in the thought that studying is bad, ”says the teacher.
At a time when children are just starting to go to class, the teacher does not advise sharing a sad experience with them, even if it was.
Fear of punishment
Criticism often causes great stress. Not wanting to appear in the eyes of the teacher and director as bad parents, we mercilessly punish children for bad grades.
“You can’t judge a person by his diary. A deuce only indicates that the student does not understand a particular topic. The main thing is that he is not afraid to admit it. Parents’ favorite question: “How can you not understand this?” repels children, they withdraw into themselves, and because of low academic performance and fear of getting another “failure”, they are looking for reasons to skip school, ”explains Svetlana.
Tired of studying
In addition to the main classes, many students attend several electives at once.
Protecting children from bad company, parents often find them a lot of other, in their opinion, useful things to do. Every minute is scheduled, moms and dads are proud of it, and the children suffer. The child cannot withstand the rigid rhythm and stops going not only to the sections, but also to school. High fatigue leads to indifference and illness. Therefore, it is important not to overload schoolchildren, leaving them at least a couple of hours a day to live their lives.
Not like everyone else
The reason for not wanting to go to school may be a complex that the child has developed, for example, due to braces, strabismus, lameness or other features.
Talking to a psychologist and good contact with the parents, with whom the son or daughter can share their fears, will also help. It is important to convey to the student that features are not shortcomings, but external qualities play far from the main role in communication and learning. Watch movies, read fairy tales – and there are many of them – where outwardly attractive people turn out to be bad people, from whom everyone can turn away.
Children’s self-confidence depends on behavior and relationships with loved ones. Be with them more often at various events where the child can develop communication skills and make friends. “Lonely” children suffer from complexes. And those who have their own society can find themselves in another.
Tuition fee
“If you finish without C’s, I’ll buy you a telephone (set-top box, etc.)”, – many people use this method. As a result, they go to school not to learn something new, but to “work off” gifts.
“One mother tried so hard to motivate my student. The first year, a trip to the sea became a bonus, the second – an expensive mobile phone, and in the third grade the girl got sick and picked up bad grades. After finishing the second quarter with three triples, she stopped going to school altogether. She explained that she would no longer get the promised skateboard, ”recalls the teacher.
Such “self-sacrifice” for the sake of rewards invariably leads to indifference to the educational process. School does not require feats, it gives a chance to gain knowledge. This is important for both children and adults to understand.
Conflict with a teacher
First-graders are not immediately ready for a business relationship. In the teacher, many see a person who replaces the teacher, who will wipe his nose and feed him from a spoon. But at school, everything is different – you need to solve a lot of problems yourself. The sudden loss of independence is frightening.
And even innocent remarks turn into a tragedy for the kids, because of which the first teacher becomes an enemy.
“First-graders need to be explained – the teacher helps to gain knowledge. The child needs to listen to it in the lesson and ask questions if something is not clear. It is also important that parents are on the same wavelength with the teacher. Come to him for advice, not to make a complaint. Allies can always agree. Well, if the teacher has an obviously difficult character or the conflict has reached a dead end, it is better to transfer the child to another class, ”the teacher concluded.

Develop communication skills: participate in various events and competitions, travel, arrange “public” performances in the circle of loved ones, where the child will read his favorite poem aloud for the first time.
By personal example, show your sons and daughters that they study not only at school. Adults learn new languages, master new professions. If a parent learns something in parallel with his child, he will become a good role model.
Look for school knowledge to be used – let the children count change in the store, comment on weather phenomena, collect herbariums and determine from which tree a leaf fell.
Everyone makes mistakes, but not everyone learns from them. Tell the children about Thomas Edison, who made 999 mistakes before he created the light bulb. Look at it from a different angle: Edison wasn’t wrong, he just tried 999 things that didn’t work.
Find “your” school. If a child says that he is uncomfortable, then perhaps the problem is in the institution itself. Often, changing it helps solve the problem.
Listen carefully to what your son or daughter has to say about school and lessons. Be surprised by new discoveries with them.
Arrange a schoolchild’s corner of the house according to his wishes, and it is better to do homework in a good mood. This is facilitated, for example, by watching your favorite cartoon.
A visit to the “first-grader school”, which is in the institution, where the child will later go to receive knowledge, will help to quickly adapt.

IBM’s CEO and outgoing exec chairman take home $38m in total for 2020 despite revenue shrinking by billions • The Register
IBM CEO Arvind Krishna and ex-exec-chairwoman Ginny Rometty were collectively awarded more than $38m in compensation for their services in fiscal 2020, a year in which Big Blue’s revenues shrank and operating profit more than halved.
According to the 2021 Notice of Annual Meeting and Proxy Statement, Krishna, who was elevated to top dog in April last year, made $17.009m. This included $1.353m in salary, $13.159m in stock awards, $2.181m in a non-equity incentive plan, $42,806 in pension and $274,146 in other compensation. He was confirmed as chairman months ago from 1 January when Rometty retired.
As for the outgoing exec, she was awarded a total of $21.062m: $1.6m salary, $12.728m in stock options, $4.25m in non-equity incentive plan, $100,604 for a change of pension retention plan value, $1.5m for change in value, and $883,314 for all other compensation. In the prior year, Rometty was handed $20.16m.
It’s tough at the top of IBM.
Rometty may have left Big Blue, but she is being retained, as we’ve covered before, as a contractor to provide consultancy. The document confirmed:
IBM’s payouts for execs have various scoring metrics: 80 per cent of the award was based on meeting non-GAAP metrics including operating income and operating cash flow; and 20 per cent of the weighting was based on group revenues.
The company itself reported a 4.5 per cent decline in turnover to $73.620bn for its fiscal 2020, which ran from January to December. The target had been $80bn. Similarly, the non-GAAP net profit target was $10.7bn but it came in at $7.8bn. The operating cash flow metric of $14.8bn also came up short at $13.8bn.
Others in the senior management team also had a prosperous year: CFO and senior veep Jim Kavanaugh was awarded $9. 746m, up from $7.14m; exec veep John Kelly got $8.456m versus $7.724m in 2019; and senior veep and general counsel Michelle Browdy was awarded $6.274m, up from $5.588m.

The person given the biggest pay award was Jim Whitehurst, who ran Red Hat prior to its purchase by IBM for $34bn. He was subsequently appointed to the role of IBM president in 2020. His compensation package came in at $27.178m. This included $1.173m in salary; $22.4m in stock awards; $1.455m in a non-equity incentive plan; and $130,562 for all other compensation.
Whitehurst will be paid up to $6m in a cash retention payment, the first of which landed in July 2020 – the first anniversary of IBM’s buy of Red Hat. The second and third payments are due in July this year and next respectively, dependent on meeting criteria, including hitting financial targets.
In 2018 IBM was criticised by some on Wall Street for its execs not being financially rewarded to drive the top line. Rather it incentivised leaders to generate top-line growth with Strategic Imperatives (which include cloud, social, security and data).
Total revenues at IBM peaked in 2011 at $106.93bn in Rometty’s first year at the top and have fallen ever since.
Last year IBM reintroduced a total revenue component to comprise 20 per cent of execs’ pay metrics. For 2021 it has been increased further to account for 50 per cent of the scoring that determines leaders’ annual incentive pay and 40 per cent for the performance share unit. Also new is the Diversity Modifier, intended to motivate execs to ensure diversity in the workforce.

It may come as no surprise to cynics that IBM is changing the compensation plan as it prepares to spin off the Global Technology Services division into a separately traded public company. GTS has been one of IBM’s areas that has shrunk dramatically for years, from $40.9bn in 2011 to $25.81bn in 2020.
Customers are buying cloud services and seemingly snubbing the classic infrastructure services provided by companies like IBM, DXC, and others. With GTS gone, IBM reckons it will be free to pursue the hybrid cloud.

Our Mission
Infant Toddler Family Day Care (ITFDC) is a network of professional child care educators with a commitment to the principle that learning begins at birth. We support the emotional, social, and intellectual development of infants, toddlers, preschoolers, and school-aged children in safe, nurturing high-quality child care environments.
Enrollment Policies
Children 6 weeks of age and older are eligible for enrollment in the Infant Toddler Family Day Care program. Please note that Virginia State law requires that proof of identity (birth certificate) for your child be provided with enrollment documents.
According to §63.2-1809 of the Code of Virginia, if the parent, guardian, or other person enrolling the child in a regulated child day program for longer than two consecutive days, or other pattern of regular attendance, does not provide the required information within seven (7) business days of initial attendance, the regulated program shall immediately notify the local law-enforcement agency of the parent or guardian’s failure to provide the requested information.
Health Policies
Children must have a current immunization record and physical examination signed by a physician on file. Immunization records and physicals are updated regularly. The child must be adequately immunized prior to enrollment and must receive additional immunizations as required by state law (unless parent provides proper documentation of medical or religious exemption).
*Parents may ask providers to disclose if there are children in the home that are unvaccinated.
Children cannot be brought to the family child care home when:
Their temperature is in excess of 100.5 degrees
They are vomiting and/or have diarrhea
They have a fresh cold
They have a contagious infection
They are in discomfort and require one to one care
In the event that your child becomes ill in the family child care home, you will be called to pick up your child. Your child must be symptom free for 24 hours before returning to the child care home. Washable or disposable changing pads must be brought to the child care home. Each provider uses disposable gloves while changing diapers, assisting older children with toilet needs, etc. Providers are trained to properly abide by universal health precautions with the use of gloves.
The parent must inform the child care home within 24 hours or the next business day after his child or any member of the immediate household has developed any reportable communicable disease, as defined by the State Board of Health, except for life-threatening diseases, which must be reported immediately.
Nutrition Policies
Infant Toddler Family Day Care is an approved USDA Child Care Food Program Sponsor. Providers serve breakfast, morning snack, lunch, afternoon snack and supper according to each child’s schedule. Parents may supply formula and infant food at their discretion. Reasonable accommodations for special diets will be handled on an individual basis to best meet the needs of the child and family. Medical recommendations with doctor’s statement related to special diet requirement will be needed to be on file.
Supplies and Equipment
Parents are responsible for providing their child’s provider with the following equipment:

At least one complete change of clothing including shoes, socks and seasonally appropriate clothing.
CRIBS: Beginning December 28, 2012, the Virginia Department of Social Services will enforce a mandatory federal crib standard set by the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC). This CPSC requirement applies to all child care facilities and family day homes. A full-size crib must be in compliance with federal standard 16 CFR 1219 and a non-full-size crib must be in compliance with federal standard 16 CFR 1220. Please refer to this memo from the Virginia Department of Social Services for details on the mandatory crib standards and the acceptable documentation for compliance verification. If a child needs blankets and he/she is under two years old, parents should supply the provider with a wearable blanket (e.g., HALO sleepsack wearable blanket or HALO early walker sleepsack wearable blanket.) No blankets, pillows, or toys will be placed in a crib.
Outings
Family child care providers and parents are encouraged to plan and participate in field trips. Outings are an important enrichment experience for the young child. They provide children with an opportunity to explore their environment. Children are required to be transported in an age-appropriate, federally approved infant or child car seat. Transportation to and from family child care homes will be the responsibility of the parents.
Emergency Procedures
Because we live in challenging times, we have established the following emergency procedures to ensure the well-being of all children in the family. Please discuss and put in writing emergency procedures with your provider. Please be sure to address the following issues in your plan:
Where would the provider go if she had to leave her home?
How would you communicate?
Provide a list of all numbers where you can be reached.
Who should the provider contact in an emergency in the event that you or another family member is unavailable?
Leave a car seat each day or get an extra car seat to leave permanently with your provider. Make sure the provider knows how to properly install the car seat.
Be sure that your provider has at least a three day supply of formula, food, diapers and drinking water in case of an emergency.
Scheduling
Arrival and departure times are determined by the individual needs of families and providers. A change of schedule must be submitted to the office (703-352-3449) or online to [email protected], with your provider’s approval, a month in advance of the change. After the first 45 days in care there will be a $25.00 change of schedule fee.
A general daily schedule that is appropriate for the age of the enrolling child (i.e., usual routine for provision of meals and snacks, naps, indoor/outdoor play, etc.) will be posted in the child care home.
Emergency Closings
The ITFDC office and family child care homes will be CLOSED only when the Federal Government is CLOSED for the full/entire day to the public due to inclement weather or other emergencies. (There will be no reimbursements for care missed in this situation.)
The ITFDC office and family child care homes will open on time if the Federal Government has a delayed opening.
The ITFDC office and family child care homes will not close early if the Federal Government is closing early for the day.
When an individual jurisdiction closes, i.e. Fairfax County, Arlington County, Falls Church City etc., our homes will remain open. All closures will be posted on ITFDC’s website.
Closures are subject to change due to unexpected emergencies. Please keep in mind that providers are self-employed and, therefore, can make an individual decision to open or close their family child care homes.

Family Vacations
Please notify your provider as soon as you schedule your vacation. (Please note – there are no refunds for days missed for vacations.)
Substitute Care
If your provider is unable to care for your child, arrangements will be made for an approved Infant Toddler Family Day Care substitute. Please visit potential substitutes prior to using them. If you decide not to use this service, please notify your provider and/or substitute as soon as possible. Providers pay their substitutes. If you choose not to use a substitute, you are still responsible for the full fee.
Absences
Please notify the provider at least one hour before scheduled arrival time if your child is not going to be present that day. It is our policy to contact you if your child is absent from care without notice. If we cannot reach you, we will contact your emergency contacts.
Assistants
Provider must notify the parents if an adult assistant or substitute provider instead of the provider is regularly scheduled to care for the child.
General Information Changes
Please notify provider and the office immediately in writing of any changes in emergency information, telephone number, job change, address change, or any other pertinent changes. Forms to effect all changes are being made available on the ITFDC web site: https://www.infanttoddler.com/forms/
Communication
Parents, providers and staff work together as a team to serve the best interest of the child. Respectful, open, honest communication between parents, provider and staff is crucial to your child’s well being. To facilitate effective communication:
Daily activity sheets will be provided to parents.
Parents and providers may establish a mutually convenient conference time.
Child Care Specialists are available to assist you via phone or email.
Providers must report suspected child abuse or neglect according to § 63.2 – 1509 of the code of Virginia.
Providers must notify parents (required by 22 VAC 40-111-650):
In writing, within 10 business days after the effective date of the change when there is no longer liability insurance in force on the family day home operation.
Daily about the child’ health, development, behavior, adjustment, or needs
Prior to when a substitute provider will be caring for the children (for provider’s vacation, appointments, etc. )
When persistent behavioral problems are identified and such notification shall include any disciplinary steps taken in response.
The same day whenever first aid is administered to the child.
Within 24 hours or the next business day of the home’s having been informed, unless forbidden by law, when a child has been exposed to a communicable disease listed in the Department of Health’s current communicable disease chart. The provider shall consult the local health department if there is a question about the communicability of a disease.
In writing, whenever there are changes in the home’s emergency preparedness and response plan (that is, any changes to the Provisions of the Emergency Preparedness and Response Plan given to parents prior to the child’s first day of attendance.
Whenever the child will be taken off the premises of the family day home, before such occasion (except in emergency evacuation or relocation situations) and the provider will have written parental permission.
As soon as possible of the child’s whereabouts if an emergency evacuation or relocation is necessary.

Late Fee
Late fees will be billed at $15 every 15 minutes. This fee is only charged if a family is consistently arriving before or after contracted hours.
Billing
Invoices will be emailed to you on the fifteenth of the month prior to the month of service. Payment is due by the first of each month. Please make sure that you supply our office with the email address(es) where you want to receive the invoice by completing the Billing Form.
Payments may be made automatically by using our automatic payment plan. To utilize this system, please read and complete the Billing Form. If you decide to mail your child care payments they must be received by our office by the first day of the month or care will be terminated. There will be a $25.00 late fee charge for payments received after the first of the month. Dishonored payments will incur penalty charges. Payments will then be required by cash or money order.
Vacation/Illness
There are no reimbursements for absences from the family child care home due to vacations or illness.
Withdrawal
Please notify your provider and the office in writing (or by completing the online Family Change Form) two weeks in advance of your child’s last day. Arrangements to hold a space may be made through the office with the consent of the provider.
Adjustment
Your child will miss you. To help your child adjust to the provider and family child care homes, please take time to become acquainted with the provider and the environment prior to the start of child care. In the morning, help your child to settle in – take off coat, change diaper, etc. but try not to stay too long. Remember, the crying usually stops a few minutes after you leave.
Occasionally a child is unable to adjust to the child care home. If after a reasonable period of time a child is unable to adjust, we reserve the right to request withdrawal of the child. If your provider is unable to care for your child, every effort will be made to place your child with another provider.
Discipline Policy
Redirection, positive role modeling, and a safe environment are tools used for discipline. Discipline means teaching. Spanking is not permitted in any Infant Toddler child care homes.
Complaints
Calls received by Infant Toddler staff from parents who have a problem in the child care home will be considered a complaint as required by licensing. Infant Toddler staff will document, investigate, and file the complaint with the Virginia Department of Social Services, Department of State Licensing as required by family day system licensing standards.
Open Door Policy
Infant Toddler Family Day Care has an open door policy for all of our homes. Parents are encouraged to visit their child’s child care home at any time while their child is in care. Infant Toddler staff members also visit the homes on an unannounced basis.

At Katino dienelės kindergarten, the fee ranges from 270 to 350 euros per month (prices include compensation, if parents are not entitled to it, the fee will be 100 euros more).

This kindergarten also has classes in English, in this class the fee is 715 euros per month. The entrance fee is 420 euros.
In Pažinimo medis kindergarten, the entrance fee is 220 euros, the monthly fee is 395 euros. For half a day – 264. When visiting a full day, meals are three times a day, and half – twice a day. It is included in the fee.
Mįsliaus dirbtuvės kindergarten has four attendance options: 5 times a week (400 euros), 4 times a week (350), three times a week (300) or 5 half-days (330). Meals for a full day costs 7.10 euros, for half a day 1.90-5.80 euros. There is an annual fee of 200 euros. If the parents want the child to be in the garden until 18.45, an additional 50 euros will have to be paid. The total is 542 euros per month.
A month in Baltų šalelė kindergarten from 7.30 to 18.20 5 times a week costs 310 euros, 4 days – 285, 3 – 260. For half a day – 250 euros. The entrance fee is 149 euros. You have to pay extra for meals, it is organized taking into account the needs of a particular child. Breakfast at Baltų šalelė ant kalnelio costs 0.75 euros, lunch – 2.60, afternoon tea – 1.20, another 4 euros for a snack. In kindergarten Baltų šalelė tarp pušelių prices are higher: breakfast – 1 euro, lunch – 3 euro, afternoon tea – 1.20, and snack – 4. For a full set in Baltų šalelė tarp pušelių you will have to pay 9,2 euro per day. With a monthly fee and meals, the fee will be 494 euros.
Mini darželyje kindergarten in Värkiai pays 140 euros per month, for three days a week – 110. These are the prices for children whose parents are registered in Vilnius, which means including compensation. For half a day, the fee is 105 euros. Meals cost €3.80 per day (€76 per month). Total 316 euros per month if the parents do not receive compensation.

The most expensive kindergarten in Vilnius is The British School of Vilnius. When filling out the form, a fee of 100 euros is charged, then another 1000 euros after receipt.
