I have obtained an extensive amount of childcare experience throughout the past 5 years. I have completed various internships in a childcare setting and graduated from Seton Hill University in 2012 with a bachelors degree in Childcare Administration and Psychology. What Is a Medical Fellowship?

A medical fellowship is a training program for medical school graduates who have completed their residency and wish to carry on learning in a specific area of medicine. Dentists, veterinarians, and physicians alike can participate in a fellowship after completing a residency program.

After lunch, she’s back to the surgical room to perform another surgery with her team. The rest of the day is spent consulting with future surgical patients and catching up on paperwork, with one final surgery before she heads home. 

This is considered a typical day in a medical fellowship. Russell’s fellowship lasted two years at CHOP, which she spent mainly practicing and performing surgical procedures under a senior surgeon. She speaks highly of her time in fellowship, which played a major role in teaching her to be the surgeon she is today.

A fellowship trained doctor is a physician who has completed a fellowship program after successfully completing med school and residency. In other words, fellowship trained doctors are fully licensed physicians with an extra one to three years of training in their sub specialty.

Medical CV

By now, you have most likely already started your medical CV. Most students begin their CV half way through medical school, and add to it throughout their years in residency. A great CV will make a compelling case for you as a potential fellow. Here you’ll include all of your relevant work experience, schooling, volunteerism, awards, published articles, etc. to showcase your abilities in the medical field. 

When including work experience in a CV, be sure to use action words to describe your role at your previous position. Fellows are dedicated, driven and hardworking doctors who go the extra mile in their field. Try to keep in mind what recruiters from your specific program will want to see when deciding what experience to include. 

Letters of Recommendation (LoR)

Letters of recommendation are a crucial part of getting into a fellowship program. Fellowships are competitive and seek only the best to be involved in their programs, so having an authority figure back up your skills (specifically in your specialty, if possible) can serve as a green light to your interviewers.

A letter of recommendation can come from anyone who directly oversaw your work in residency, medical volunteerism or medical school. Avoid LoRs from family members, friends, or students. An LoR should be a formal letter commending your professional performance without any personal bias. 

When it comes to letters of recommendation, the more recent, the better. Leave out letters from high school teachers or early years in medical school. Include LoRs from your graduating year or medical school and your years in residency.

You’ll want to show your interviewer that you are capable, efficient, passionate, and overall a great fit for the position. Try to lean on your experience and trust yourself. As he took me through an interactive map on his computer screen, Oakland physician Nate Gross showed me what a neurosurgeon in my area might expect to make. Scrolling his cursor over the D.C. suburb of Montgomery County, Maryland, a number appeared: $580,000. I knew that, vaguely, but I did gasp.

“But if you move down to South Carolina,” Gross continued, scrolling south, “here, you’re looking at $645,000.”

In an even more drastic example, the average anesthesiologist practicing in Massachusetts would increase her salary by 61 percent if she moved to Wisconsin. Most doctors have a vague idea that they could earn more money if they moved away from big cities and the coasts, where job markets tend to saturate—or if they abandoned preventive care to specialize in anything involving a scalpel or lasers. But in a profession where talk of finances is taboo, job listings rarely include salaries, and compensation models are duly withheld from medical-school curricula. Today Gross’s company, Doximity, launched a new tool that lets doctors see exactly what salaries other doctors are earning, by county and specialty. The maps already include anonymous data from more than 18,000 physicians.

“The goal here is to empower doctors with transparency,” said Gross. “They’re going to be looking for jobs after residency, and they have no idea what they’re doing. They weren’t taught that kind of stuff in residency. They were taught how to be doctors and surgeons.” And in the job search, “They don’t necessarily get screwed over, but they don’t necessarily get what they deserve, either.”

Gross is a co-founder of Doximity, a social network for physicians that is growing quickly, now claiming more than 400,000 members. He described the site as LinkedIn for doctors. (LinkedIn is apparently cool enough now that some startups are intentionally invoking with it.) In recent years Doximity has become a Rolodex and reference platform for doctors. Now it’s trying to be a Glassdoor, too, helping physicians find jobs and understand markets.

Here, for example, are Doximity’s average salary numbers by specialty. These data are valuable almost exclusively in a relative way, showing what the U. S. healthcare model tends to value most, and partly explain why there is an ongoing shortage of primary-care doctors. While similar salary breakdowns have been published by Forbes, Medscape, and Merritt Hawkins, among others, Doximity’s numbers are based on the most comprehensive approach yet.

Caveats and context: The data are averages of individual and group practices, private practices where a doctor sees many, many patients, and academic institutions where a doctor might spend a majority of her time on research and teaching. The physicians who contributed to this data were, on average, between 20 and 30 years removed from medical school. These salaries do not begin until a decade or so after the doctor graduates from college: All physicians spend four years in medical school (emerging with an average debt of around $170,000), and then spend three to eight years in residency and fellowship programs where they are earning salaries of $51,000 to $66,000, and often working schedules that are all-consuming, temporally and existentially. The data do not include costs like malpractice insurance, which vary widely by specialty and location and nature of practice, or performance bonuses.

They also do not include the value of the smile on a patient’s face, which is worth infinity dollars (pretax).

Yesterday I talked with Eric Topol, a cardiologist and director of the Scripps Translational Science Institute (also described by GQ as a “rock star of science”!) whose latest book The Patient Will See You Now describes the imminent incorporation of massive health-data systems into medical science. Being a doctor, in his view, will become less about ordering tests and more about reacting to a constant stream of data about all aspects of a person’s life—empathizing and guiding as a smart phone gives a person daily numeric health feedback. Medicine stands to become more collaborative and transparent at every level. Physician employment dynamics are apparently not immune.

The Financial Unit has prepared answers to the most popular questions about paying salaries, scholarships, benefits, using bank cards in HSE buildings, and much more.

Will the salary arrive on time? Is it worth waiting for the cancellation of cards, will employees receive their salaries in cash?

Yes, the salary will come on time, just like before. Payroll settlements with employees are carried out using Mir payment cards. They are served by the Russian national payment system, which continues to function smoothly on the territory of the Russian Federation.

Will the university change the service bank?

HSE pays salaries and scholarships primarily through VTB Bank and Sberbank, whose systems are technologically integrated with the university’s automatic data processing modules. Both banks fully retain all settlement transactions in rubles, are the largest issuers of MIR payment cards, enjoy the necessary support from the Bank of Russia and do not experience problems with payment liquidity.

At the moment, there are no grounds for the systematic transfer of HSE ruble settlements for servicing to other banks.

At the same time, employees, students, graduate students who wish to receive payments to their Mir cards issued by other banks have the right to submit a corresponding application to the HSE Accounting Department (Application for the transfer of RFP.docx (live.com)) . But it should be noted that technically transferring payments to new details will only be possible starting from the next payment cycle (i.e. from the next month).

Will scholarships continue? Do I need to change my payment card to get them?

Of course, they will continue. There is no need to change the payment card. Scholarships, like salaries, are still paid to Mir payment cards serviced by the Russian national payment system. The terms of payment also do not change.

Will benefits and payments to students and employees continue – financial assistance, discounts, etc.?

Yes, the Higher School of Economics continues to fulfill all of its social obligations, including those funded by the university.

How to pay for tuition for foreign students who are outside of Russia?

Payment can be made by bank transfer (wire transfer) to the NRU HSE currency account in euros, US dollars, pounds sterling, yuan in the amount determined based on the cost stipulated by the education agreement.

To make a payment, a student needs to contact their bank where they have an account and place an order for an international bank transfer in favor of HSE.

Information about the bank details of the university’s foreign currency accounts is available on the page of the Accounting Department. At the moment, accounts in Sberbank of Russia are used. As you open accounts in other banks, the information will be updated. A detailed procedure for paying for tuition is described in the document.

This is not necessary, because according to the Bank of Russia, all payment cards issued by Russian banks continue to operate in Russia without restrictions.

It is worth considering that the issuance of new cards of international payment systems in Russia is limited. Therefore, if your card is about to expire, then in order not to create delays for the next payments, it is better to take care of obtaining the Mir card in advance and provide new details to the Higher School of Economics (your employer, or to the Accounting Department – with reference to the number and the date of your GPC agreement).

If I work with the Higher School of Economics under a GPC agreement, will the rules for paying my remuneration change?

No, there are no plans to change these rules.

However, there are some peculiarities if you are a foreign citizen who is outside of Russia, and your contract stipulates that the transfer of remuneration is carried out in US dollars or in Euros. Due to sanctions imposed by the US and the EU on a number of Russian banks, such payments may be subject to technical difficulties on the banks’ side. This may result in delays in banking transactions in the specified currencies.

In any case, you can be sure that the university still fulfills its obligations under the concluded agreements, and also makes every possible effort to ensure international payments.

At the same time, if you have the opportunity to receive your remuneration in rubles, then you can provide the details of your ruble bank account in the form of an application to the HSE Accounting Department with a reference to the number and date of your agreement. In this case, settlements with you will be carried out without delay.

I am an employee with foreign citizenship, I work at HSE. Will my contract (employment contract) be kept? How will I receive my salary?

The Higher School of Economics is attentive to the working conditions of employees and will not worsen their situation on its own initiative. No changes in the working hours of foreign employees are planned. Payment of your wages will also be carried out as before on your payment card, within the same terms.

If you, as a foreign citizen, receive wages on an international payment system card, please check its validity period. The issuance of new cards of international payment systems by Russian banks is still limited. If your card is about to expire, it will be useful to get a Mir card in advance and report its details to the Higher School of Economics (your employer, or to the Accounting Department (Application for the transfer of RFP.docx (live.com)).

Will it be possible to pay for food at the canteen or canteen with Apple Pay?

Apple Pay no longer works with cards from sanctioned banks. Suspension of other payment applications is not excluded, so it is better to have your plastic card with you. Previously issued plastic cards of international payment systems continue to operate on the territory of Russia, as they are serviced by the Russian national payment system. However, the new release of such cards is currently suspended. Therefore, if your card of international payment systems is about to expire, it makes sense to get a Mir card for further payments.

Will contactless payment continue in buffets?

Yes, with appropriate credit cards. The ability to make contactless payments using smartphones (Apple Pay and similar apps) may be difficult or suspended depending on the sanctions status of your bank or the current policy of foreign operators of these applications.

Will it still be possible to withdraw money from ATMs inside the university? And transfer through applications?

Yes, the work of ATMs inside the university has not changed.

Transferring money through the application depends on the application itself and the mode of operation of your bank. In any case, all payments in rubles on the territory of Russia are carried out in the same mode and without delay.

Will paying for housing/services/educational programs on the HSE website still work?

Yes, it will.

Will there be assistance provided to students, staff who may now find themselves in difficult circumstances due to what is happening?

HSE students who are on mobility programs abroad and students who find themselves in a difficult life situation can contact the HSE Situation Center by phone +7 (495) 628-53-20 or by e-mail help@hse. ru. The center will provide psychological assistance, legal advice, help with domestic issues, organization of studies, etc. A student who finds himself in a difficult life situation can write an application for transfer to distance learning through the situation center. All applications received by the situational center are considered by the rector.

Will it be possible to continue working on a remote contract if I am a Russian citizen?

The rules governing work under these types of contracts have not changed. If necessary, please discuss your situation with your line manager.

Will it be possible to conclude/save contracts with foreign citizens working remotely?

All current university agreements with foreign citizens continue to be valid.

At the moment, we also do not have any changes in the rules for concluding new contracts with foreign citizens.

The Central Bank raised the key rate – is it possible to revise interest rates on loans? Is it possible that my education loan and its conditions will now be revised upwards?

The possibility of changing the conditions for previously issued loans is determined by the loan agreement and the decisions of your bank.

The conditions applied under the state program of educational loans with a subsidized rate are determined by the Russian Ministry of Education and Science, including in cooperation with the banks participating in the program. At the moment, the university does not have any information about the revision of the conditions of this program. But in any case, we expect that their preferential nature will be preserved in accordance with the goals stated at the launch of the program.

Teacher salaries have been increased in Azerbaijan since January 1.

According to the order signed by the President Ilham Aliyev on December 17, 2021, from January 1, 2022, monthly official salaries of teachers working in public general education institutions financed from the state budget, who have passed a diagnostic assessment of knowledge and skills, including directors and deputies directors of these institutions, on average, increase by 20 percent, heads of pre-conscription training of young people – by 40 percent.

Scholarships awarded to doctoral students for the preparation of a doctor of sciences will amount to 360 manats, to doctoral students for the preparation of a doctor of philosophy – 216 manats, scholarships awarded to students receiving nominal scholarships in universities and ANAS – 204 manats, students with academic indicators of 91-100 points – 174 manat, 71-100 points -144 manats, 51-100 points – 96 manats.

Scholarships awarded to undergraduate students with academic performance of 91-100 points will amount to 156 manats, 71-100 points – 132 manats, 51-100 points – 90 manats.

Scholarships awarded to students of institutions of secondary specialized education with academic indicators of 91-100 points will be 90 manats, 71-100 points – 72 manats, 51-100 points – 60 manats.

Scholarships awarded to students of vocational education institutions with an academic indicator of “5” will amount to 90 manats, with academic indicators “4” and “5” – 72 manats, with academic indicators “3” and “5” – 60 manats.

In addition, the monthly official salaries of active military servicemen of the State Service of the Republic of Azerbaijan for mobilization and conscription for military service are provided with an increase in the amount of 20 percent of this salary.

Admission Procedures for Fee Based Programs

Skylark Site follows a Garden Grove School District school year calendar. Family Campus Site provides a year-round program. Enrollment is processed when space is available in the age appropriate classroom. When classrooms reach maximum enrollment, children may be placed on a waiting list. The waiting list is continuously updated.

Enrollment Process
Family will receive notification by phone to process enrollment when an open space is available for the child. Families are required to pay the non-refundable registration fee before receiving an enrollment packet. Families will receive the packet and will set up an orientation appointment. The completed enrollment packet will be required for the family to bring to an orientation appointment.

Admission Procedures for State Subsidized Program

Eligibility Lists
Early Childhood Program Sites accept walk-ins and maintain an Eligibility List for the State Subsidized Program. All families are ranked based on family eligibility, gross income, and family size.

  • Family must complete an “Eligibility Questionnaire for State Subsidized Program” and attach documentation of family monthly income.
  • Family will be contacted regarding eligibility for the program within Five (5) business days.
  • Family will be contacted to process enrollment when appropriate space is available in the program.

Priorities
The State Subsidized Program follows the priority:

  • Families whose children are receiving child protective services or are at-risk of being abused, neglected, or exploited, as documented by a legally qualified professional.
  • Families who are placed on the lowest rank on our Eligibility List.

Notification Process
Families will receive notification by phone to process enrollment when an open space is available for their child. Documentation will be requested for the family to bring to the first enrollment appointment. Families will be scheduled for a second appointment to complete all required paperwork. What Humble Kids Have in Common

Kids today are growing up on social media, which—as much as it connects us to others in new ways—seems to offer an endless frenzy of opportunities for self-promotion and self-absorption. Learning a habit of humility can be a peaceful counterbalance to help our kids remain kind and grounded.

Researchers have identified two different aspects of humility. On a personal level, humble people have a secure identity that is neither arrogant nor self-deprecating, and they are open-minded about new information. On a social level, humble people focus on others and see others as having the same inherent worth as themselves.

Yet there isn’t much research on how or when humility shows up in children. Understanding how humility develops could help us not just raise humble kids but also promote a more humble society in the long run. So in a recent study, psychologist Judith Danovitch and her colleagues delved into the roots of humility by investigating what it looks like in children’s brains.

First, the researchers asked the children to rate how much they knew about twelve topics—some related to biology, like “why fish can only live in water” or “why some people are born with red hair,” and some related to mechanics, like “how an elevator works” or “why cars need gas.” 

Then, the researchers told the children they would be teamed up with a doctor and a mechanic to see how many questions their team could answer correctly about these topics. The children had to decide which team member would answer each question. Children who rated their knowledge as lower and delegated questions to the doctor and mechanic were considered more humble.

The researchers measured children’s intelligence with a brief IQ test, and then asked them to play a computer game that involved helping a zookeeper capture animals that had escaped from their cages by pressing the spacebar when they saw certain animals, but not pressing the spacebar when they saw orangutans. Children played the game while having their brain activity recorded via electroencephalogram (EEG), which allowed the researchers to see how children responded when they made mistakes during the game.

Overall, Danovitch and her colleagues found that older children showed greater humility than younger children, and (irrespective of age) children who humbly rated their knowledge as lower were more intelligent. They also observed a link between kids’ behavior in the trivia game and their brain activity during the zoo game.

Kids who had humbly delegated questions to others “paid closer attention to their mistakes, or were more aware of having made a mistake,” according to certain brain activity that indicated conscious reflection on errors.

Taken together, these findings offer some hints about how humility might allow kids to cooperate with others and gain knowledge over time. By slowing down to notice and reflect on their mistakes rather than reflexively ignoring or denying them, kids can turn a difficult task into a learning opportunity.

As humility is developing in the brain, research suggests that kids are also starting to be able to detect—and appreciate—humility in the people around them. In a series of three studies, researchers Sara Hagá and Kristina Olson explored young people’s impressions of others. They asked participants to listen to how three people answered questions: One person answered with arrogance and was immediately dismissive of others’ beliefs. Another person responded with diffidence and was reticent about giving an opinion. The last person replied with humility—being pretty sure in answering while also welcoming others’ suggestions. The researchers asked participants how much they liked and wanted to hang out with each person.

The results? Overall, four and five year olds didn’t have a preference among the different people. Seven and eight year olds favored the person with humility over the arrogant person. Older 10 and 11 year olds preferred the person with humility over both the arrogant and the diffident person.

“These results are encouraging in the sense that if societies benefit from having intellectually humble members (e.g., who will ease intergroup relations and conflict resolution), it is valuable to know that intellectually humble people will actually be perceived in a positive light from quite early on in development,” explain Hagá and Olson.

Although we don’t know exactly how to encourage humility in young kids yet, researchers have observed some things that humble kids have in common.

For example, humility seems to go hand in hand with purpose. In a study by psychologist Kendall Cotton Bronk, purposeful youth spontaneously expressed humility in interviews with her research team. The synergy between humility and purpose seemed to help youth seek out mentors and work with like-minded peers. As with the kids playing the trivia game, humility involves asking others for support—which could eventually help kids reach their goals and make a mark on the world.

“In each case, humility supported the youths’ pursuit of purpose and vice versa,” Bronk explains. “The two characteristics work together to promote positive youth development.”

In another study, Marcus Morse described participants, including youth as young as 17 years old, feeling humility during nature adventures. One adventurer in the study described:

When you stop and you look around you, you realize how profoundly unimportant you are to the natural flow of life as it unfolds in there. And I think . . . that [is a] sort of lesson in humility. When I say I’m left with this feeling of awe and an impression of the extraordinary beauty of it, its impact on me as a person is a humbling one. And it makes me profoundly aware of how unimportant I am personally, that my species is not the be-all and the end-all.

These results are in line with recent research that found that nature-induced awe promotes humility. In the face of an expansive view of nature, participants felt smaller—a phenomenon called self-diminishment. Family trips to parks, beaches, and mountains may help children experience humility as they take in the natural world.

The science of humility has steadily expanded in the last 20 years and has included studies of how adults can become more humble. A remaining task for researchers is to shed light on what other kinds of strategies can help us foster humility in our kids. Then we can help them gain the strength not just to see themselves with authenticity but also to share their authentic self with others.

Parents who want humble kids have to walk the walk, not just talk the talk.

Humility, some have mused, is the absence of pride. This isn’t a slight. Those who are humble aren’t pushovers or unwilling to express their opinions or unable to discuss their success. Rather, they understand themselves and their value without needing to flaunt it. They know that pride is not the same as self-confidence. They’re thankful for what they have. They’re self-aware and understand what they can contribute. Parents who intentionally raise humble kids are raising children who are often less prone to stress, able to maintain great friendships, and know their value but don’t flaunt it.

“In the end, humility about being a good person,” says John Duffy, Psy.D., a clinical psychologist and author of Parenting the New Teen in the Time of Anxiety. “What I hear from parents more than anything else about what they want for their kids, is they want to raise good people and good citizens and humble people. People who think of the needs of others as often as they think of their own needs.” So how can parents more actively raise humble children? Here, per Duffy, are five things parents who raise humble children do.

They Model Humility

This sounds obvious, sure. But there is no way for parents to effectively teach kids how to be humble without modeling humility themselves. Paradoxically, in order for parents to model humility, they must also be confident.

“Humility and confidence run together. A lack of confidence brings a lack of humility and then brings arrogance or narcissism,” Duffy says. “As parents, we want to show our kids humility in the way we live our day to day lives. If we preach one thing and do something different, our kids will pick up on the dissonance of that.”

If parents make a mistake, they should own up to it and apologize. If they do something great, they should own up to that and apologize, too. It all operates on a spectrum.

They Get Their Kids Involved in Service

“Whether it’s a job or a volunteer experience, kids automatically, organically, and elegantly teach themselves humility through these experiences,” Duffy says. “Nothing is more profound in its impact on that part of their lives than service. It brings gratitude, and humility, at the same time. Those experiences, way more than a lecture from mom and dad, work.”

For many kids, their first volunteer experience or first job is a profound shift in the way they see the world and perceive their privilege. Even if it’s minimum-wage job at a gas station or a few days working with Meals on Wheels, kids can learn a lot about reaching out and giving help to those who need it, and what it means to ask for help.

They Use Media as a Teaching Tool

The good news about teen movies is that they tend to follow the same tropes, Duffy says, and in those moments, the pause button is his favorite tool for teachable moments.

“I love the use of a pause button on TVs,” he says. “Because, if you’re struggling with something, chances are, in any given evening of watching TV, the issue will come up. Humility is certainly among them.”

For example, if, in a TV show, a bully is being mean to another kid in front of a lot of other students, hit the pause button. Then ask: What do you think is happening here? How do you think everyone feels in this scene? Don’t belabor the point. You can move on as soon as your kid answers the question and press ‘play.’ But it’s a good moment to teach a lesson.

They Talk About Current Events

Duffy says that parents, regardless of their political persuasion, can bring up moments where public officials act badly and talk to their kids about it. Again, this shouldn’t be a lecture, and can happen in a quick conversation of 10 to 15 minutes or so. Duffy points to one time he was working with a teenage client who brought up that President Trump had made fun of Pete Buttigieg and called him Alfred A. Neuman from Mad Magazine.

“She said she was not happy about that. I asked her what made her unhappy. She said it could hurt the guy’s feelings and that’s not very nice,” Duffy says. “So we just started talking about – do you see that in your life? In your grade? In your high school? That started this conversation that suggests that, ‘I do not want to be that person. I want to be the person that lifts people up, not bring them down. My own humility is going to be what fosters that.”

They Don’t Lecture

All parents tend to monologue. It comes with the gig. But Duffy’s least favorite way of teaching any lessons to kids is by way of a lecture. “I can’t emphasize enough to the degree to which I loathe lectures to do this,” he says. “Kids are super astute, and lectures fall flat for them. Typically, they know how you feel and they feel patronized if they are being lectured to.”

Instead, Duffy says to use the tools above regularly. Mention something you saw on television. Talk about something a mean politician did. Don’t sit there and say, “Here’s why you need to be humble.”

“Engage them. Kids disengage from lectures. Kids feel they are being patronized; there is a better, more impactful way to get a message to land with them,” he says.

Single Player Jumping

Even a single kid can have fun with a jump rope attempting different types of jumps. Try one of the following jumps:

Chinese Jump Rope

Chinese jump rope resembles a combination of hopscotch and jump rope. Two players stand with a 16 foot rope tied in a circle with the rope around their ankles. The rope must be taut. The rope is held about six inches above the ground and is raised as the jumper completes each move. If the jumper misses any move, they must start over.

    The jumper begins by standing with her side to the oval, putting one foot into the center, without touching either side of the rope, and touching the ground with her toe. The foot is moved and placed under the rope closest to the jumper and over the second side, so the first side of the rope crosses the second. This is repeated five time, sides are changed and the move is repeated five more times.
  • Second Move
    The rope is raised to the jumper’s knee level or just below it. The jumper begins by standing in the center of the oval, then jumps and lands with her feet outside on either side of the ropes. Then the jumper jumps again, bringing her feet back into the oval. This jump is repeated five times facing front, and five times facing back.
  • Third Move
    The rope is held so that one side is higher than the other. The jumper faces the rope, jumps over the lower side into the center, then over the higher side. This jump is repeated jumping backward over the rope. The front and back jumps are repeated five times, for a total of ten jumps.
  • Fourth Move
    This jump is the same as the First Move, only the move is done with the jumper’s hands instead of the feet.
  • Fifth Move
    Jump is the same as the Second Move, but the jumper touches the ground as she jumps.
  • Sixth Move
    Jump is the same as the Third Move, but with the hands touching the ground as she jumps.

The next two games we have listed work very well for beginning jumpers.

Snake

A jump rope game for young kids or beginners to learn how to time their jumps with the rope swings, with Snake, the rope stays on the ground. One player holds each end of the rope. Kids take turns trying to jump over it as it waves along the ground like a snake.

Helicopter

Begin by drawing a large circle, the diameter of which is twice the length of the rope) on the ground around the jumping area with chalk. One player stands in the middle with the rope while the other players stand at equal spaces on the chalked circle. The player in the middle swings the rope in higher and higher circles while chanting:

Helicopter, helicopter over my head,

At this point, the player swinging the rope begins swinging it along the ground. Any player wearing the color called out moves in and attempts to jump over the rope. The chant is repeated and players keep joining the jumping. If anyone misses or the rope touches a player, the player causing the game to stop takes the place in the middle and play continues.

Stack-Up

Two skilled twirlers can prolong this jump rope game for many players. Line your players up or number them so everyone knows when it is their turn. Each time the rope hits the ground, another player begins jumping. The game ends when a jumper misses their turn or stops the rope.

Water Splash

A cooling game on a hot day, make sure kids play this one outside. Two players turn the rope while those jumping take turns jumping with a plastic cup of water. Sing or say a jump rope rhyme or count to ten while each player jumps. The jumper with the most water left in their cup wins this game.

Jump Rope Relay

If you have many jumpers, try dividing them into teams for a jump rope relax race. You will need two single-jumper jump ropes. Divide your players into two or more teams with an equal number of jumpers. Try one of the following ideas for relay-race fun:

  • Divide each team in two and line half of the kids at the start line and half at the finish line. Kids jump their way to a finish line and hand the rope to their team mate who jumps back to the start line.
  • Each team member jumps to the finish line and back to the start line before handing over the rope to a team mate.
  • Incorporate other types of jumps, such as jumping on either the right or left leg. (See the jumps listed under “Single Player Jumping” in this article)

Banana Split

When the kids get tired of jumping, they can take a bit of a break with this game. Two people swing a long rope toward a line of kids and then away. The first person in line runs under the rope and then back, without touching or being touched by the rope. Then the second runner joins the first and they run under the rope. Each time the rope turns toward the line, another kid joins and runs. If the rope touches anyone or a player does not make it back and forth, play starts again.

Cat and Mouse

You need four players for this fun game. If you have more than four players, kids can take turns. Two kids twirl the rope, one is the cat, and one is the mouse. The mouse does the rope jumping, jumping once, running around one of the twirlers, jumping again, and then running around the other twirler. The cat chases the mouse, following the same path, after the mouse gets a one-jump head start. The cat attempts to tag the mouse and if successful, the mouse becomes the cat and begins the chase again.

          EUSP and the Hermitage open the School of Arts and Cultural Heritage and announce admission to the Contemporary Museum program

          The European University at St. Petersburg and the State Hermitage Museum open the School of Arts and Cultural Heritage. The school will combine master’s programs in art history and philology, as well as the professional retraining program “Modern Museum: Management Methods, Practices of Cultural Interpretation”. The goal of the School is to form a new generation of scientists and practitioners capable of preserving the value of art and cultural heritage in the new technological environment of the 21st century. The Contemporary Museum program announces the call for applications, which will last until September 30, and training will start from October 14, 2022.

          The school was created on the basis of the Faculty of Art History, which became part of it. Students of the School receive fundamental and up-to-date knowledge in the field of art history, museum work and curation, as well as study the modern technological environment and develop skills for interacting with representatives of other fields of knowledge, primarily natural and computer sciences. The training includes lectures, seminars and practical exercises in the halls and vaults of the State Hermitage and other museums in St. Petersburg. Students have the opportunity to work with the Hermitage collections together with museum researchers.

          Master’s programs “Languages ​​of art in culture: problems of interaction” and “Word and image: literature among other arts” , postgraduate studies “Theory and history of culture, art” and an annual program of additional professional education Contemporary Museum , which will be launched in 2023/24 as a master’s program.

          New educational program for professional retraining in museum work

          September 30, 2022. This is the first educational retraining program in the field of museum business of this kind in Russia. It is intended for museum workers, curators, culturologists, art historians and other professionals who want to systematize knowledge to solve modern museum problems.

          The program lasts 9 months. The full course includes 6 modules, each of which can be taken separately: “Storage”, “Research”, “Interpretation”, “Representation”, “Management”, “Involvement”. The program studies such museum issues as how to form a museum collection, broadcasting information to different audiences, designing a museum space, fundraising, working with communities, as well as technological aspects: artificial intelligence and machine learning, which can help in creating museum projects.

          The modules of the program consist of full-time intensive, classroom work with a teacher at the university or online, preparation and defense of the project. Students go through six stages of project work in teams, which consists in developing a strategy, solution or concept within the framework of cases or briefs from museums that are partners of the program. At the end of the program, students complete a final personal project. Also among the training formats are discussions and presentations of real cases, round tables and discussions, study trips and acquaintances with various institutions and specialists.

          Training takes place at the European University and the State Hermitage Museum in St. Petersburg. A hybrid learning format is possible: intensive offline sessions in St. Petersburg and online attendance at classes.

          The School has two scientific and technical research laboratories, the purpose of which is to establish productive interaction between scientists from the technological field and museum specialists.

          Laboratory Art and Artificial Intelligence is a research and education cluster bringing together specialists in artificial intelligence, computer vision, natural language processing and machine learning.           Paleogenomics Research Laboratory trains specialists in the field of museum business with the skills of natural science research of biological samples. The first projects of the laboratory are based on the analysis of biological remains from the archaeological collections of the State Hermitage. Also, the laboratory is developing new methods for bioinformatics analysis of data obtained by deciphering genomes.           The School of Arts and Cultural Heritage also cooperates with the innovative companies Yandex, Genotek, Grotex and Braingarden, which allows expanding an interdisciplinary approach to the study of material and cultural heritage and solving practical problems in the field of museum science and art. management.

          A new kindergarten was opened in Kizlyar under the national project “Demography”

          A new kindergarten in the village. Kizlyar of the Mozdok region opened its doors for kids. A pre-school educational institution for 120 children was built as part of the Demography national project.

          Two-storey building with an area of ​​1537.5 m 2 meets modern standards and requirements. All conditions for the comprehensive development of children are created here. In a preschool educational institution there are 5 groups for each age category, including nursery groups.

          The opening ceremony was attended by the Minister of Education and Science of North Ossetia Ella Alibekova, Head of the Administration of Local Self-Government of the Mozdok District Ruslan Adyrkhaev , Acting Head of the village. Kizlyar Maulit Khasanov.

          After the solemn part, the Minister of Education and Science Ella Alibekova, together with the head of the AMS Ruslan Adyrkhaev, the head of the education department of the Mozdok district Neley Gasparyants inspected the new premises.

          Director Dinara Dadova showed the bedrooms, playrooms, kitchen, medical office, equipped with the necessary equipment.

          “For several years now, the national project “Demography” has been implemented in our republic. This year we are opening the third pre-school educational institution: two kindergartens for 280 places in Vladikavkaz and now in the village of. Kizlyar. The kindergarten is very bright, spacious, I hope the kids will feel comfortable and convenient here. I would like to note that thanks to the construction of kindergartens, new jobs are being created, which is also important for our region. Here, in Kizlyar, 28 specialists have started their work. Elders and residents of the village attended the opening today, and judging by the reviews, everyone liked the kindergarten. I really want the atmosphere and content environment to meet the requirements of parents, too,” said the head of the educational department.

          On the territory of the kindergarten there are five children’s group playgrounds, equipped with shady canopies and children’s entertainment complexes, as well as a sports and playground. The facility is equipped with a video surveillance system and an automatic fire and security alarm system.

          “This is a great event for our village, the residents are very happy that such a cozy building has appeared for the kids. Among other things, we plan to develop additional education in the kindergarten, we will mainly focus on artistic orientation – this is very much in demand, ”said Dinara Dadova, head of the kindergarten.

          The interior decoration of the premises is made in accordance with the functional purpose. High-quality water-based acrylic paints were used to paint the walls, and in rooms with a wet regime, the walls were lined with glazed ceramic tiles. The floors of the corridors, halls and vestibules are made of porcelain stoneware. Administrative offices, a medical center, methodical, group, sleeping and dressing rooms are finished with linoleum.

          What Should a 4-Year-Old Know Before Starting School?

          Recognizing Letters & Numbers

          Academics are the most integral part of early learning. Although your child will know about A-Z alphabets, and counting to up to 50 by the end of school, help them recognize things in advance. This will help them kick-start their learning.

          Whenever you’re watching TV, playing games, or reading a book with them, point out random letters and see if your kid can guess them. They don’t have to know the counting or ABC in sequence; that’ll be done in the school, but they should be able to recognize some of them.

          There are many interactive games on the internet and you can also buy several charts to make early learning easy for your child before he/she goes to preschool. This will ensure they don’t stay behind in the class.

          Eating & Table Manners

          Even if your 4-year old won’t be eating at school, there’s a chance they’ll be served some snacks. You don’t want them to lose their self-esteem when they cannot hold the fork right while their class fellows are eating everything with ease.

          So, teach some of the basics like using a spoon, plastic fork, putting straw inside the juice box, opening snack packs, and using a tissue to wipe their face and hands, and so on.

          Identifying & Sorting Objects, Shapes, & Colors

          Your child should be able to sort, differentiate and organize different objects, shapes, and colors. They don’t have to be very accurate every time, but familiar enough to get most of the things right. These are critical foundational skills that your child will need to do well in the classroom, especially when different coloring and sorting games are being played.

          If they are familiar with the concept, they’ll go past the learning curve faster and develop interest in learning more. You can help your child with this by asking them about the shapes of different objects around you or when you’re outside. Do the same with colors but also get them paint sets and coloring books to experiment with and learn on their own.

          Using the Potty

          Although this depends on the preschool as some don’t even require your child to be potty-trained, you need to do this for your kid, not for the school’s requirements. This will save them from a world of embarrassment and keep them from being called names because they relieved themselves in the pants once.

          Firstly, teach your child to communicate with the teacher whenever they need to go, make it clear that it’s nothing to be ashamed of. Then, teach them how to clean themselves and not rely on anyone else.

That Moscow no longer exists – I can’t visually return to my homeland, I can only go into the temple where my grandmother secretly baptized me, and the House of Pioneers is still standing.

          Of course, the most sacred places are in the center. I started going to classes with my senior orchestra comrades, who studied at the conservatory, for pedagogical practice – they needed students from the outside, whom they presented as their own. When I first appeared at the conservatory, it was an incomprehensible state of spiritualization. It seemed to me that it was just a magical building, I dreamed of going there to study, but, unfortunately, it didn’t work out: after the army, I went to the Moscow State University at the Faculty of Economics.

          Moscow in the 1990s…

          We had one apartment – socialite Nina (Sasha Oleinikov remembers her better), there were gatherings. Then the “White cockroach” appeared, we opened the “Pilot” club. Tabula Rasa has begun.

          Since 1985, I have been working in the most central restaurants – “Belgrade-2” was an important point where all the secular parties of that time gathered – speculators, girls of easy virtue. The brightest club of the nineties, of course, Giusto, which was opened by Andrey Kobzon, is the most secular and fashionable place for me.

          Now I live…

          As I fell in love with the area of ​​the conservatory — Nikitsky and Tverskoy Boulevards, I have been living there for 25 years — on Malaya Bronnaya. Amazing area: you go out and overflow with joy for the young people who come here to walk and hang out – there are a huge number of cafes. Very peaceful place. Here, of course, they keep order very strictly – the police come with riot police, patrols are constantly walking.

          Cleaning, of course, in yards is very bad, according to the residual principle, in contrast to the streets. Because people working in our housing and communal services have nothing to do with the district and do not understand how it should look like. I would return a specific housing and communal services system, when each janitor is responsible for his own piece of land: we used to have it like that – we communicated very well, warmed it up with gifts on holidays, in winter, when it snowed, we threw money. And everything turned out very clean and comfortable – at home, in Moscow. And now strangers are working: it seems to me that even this work is strangers. Competence is not the reason for hiring. Accordingly, people work carelessly: put a cross – report to the authorities. For example, the fact that a huge amount of this reagent is poured is a completely illiterate story: when it softened the ice crust, it must be removed, it should not lie on the streets and spoil shoes all winter. In our country, this is done by residents of Central Asia, who find it difficult to understand.

          But in general, I am happy: our apartment is ordinary, old stock, but the district!.. Of course, many of my colleagues and friends live in more luxurious apartments, I could too, but in a different district – in our very expensive, I still do not earn so much.
