- 1 “Beware of falling from foldable diaper changing tables!” (released on October 5, 2007)
- 2 Japanese government agencies requested building managers to display precautions for using diaper changing tables and to carry out safety checks, releasing the following documents: “Prevention of falling from diaper changing tables in public spaces (request)” by the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry on July 25, 2007 and “Prevention of falling from diaper changing tables” by the Consumer Affairs Agency on December 21, 2010.
- 3 The Medical Facilities Network is a joint project by the Consumer Affairs Agency and NCAC which started operating from December 2010. The network collects accident reports on people receiving treatment at medical facilities after suffering life-threatening or bodily injuries in their daily lives.
- 4 Data received from December 2010 through December 31 in 2019. The above inquiries were categorized and counted for this report.
- The Medical Facilities Network received 58 accident reports informing that children aged three years or younger fell from diaper changing tables in public spaces.
- Infants capable of rolling over in bed and pulling to stand begin to be prone to falling from diaper changing tables.
- The most common injured part was the head, which accounted for 71% of all the cases. Nine children required hospital stay. Of these, 8 children got injured in the head.
- [Case1]
- When I was trying to take something from my bag, my child fell from the diaper changing table. She was diagnosed as fracture of parietal and occipital bones. She stayed hospital for 6 days.
- (girl aged 4 months)
- [Case2]
- When I was washing my hands, my child stood up on the diaper changing table and fell from it. After being diagnosed as skull fracture and acute extradural hematoma, he stayed hospital for 5 days.
- (boy aged 1 year and 8 months)
- [Case3]
- My baby fell from the diaper changing table when I was helping another child in the restroom. He was diagnosed as parietal bone fracture, acute extradural hematoma and scalp hematoma. He stayed hospital for 9 days
- (boy aged 8 months)
- [Case4]
- When I was disposing of used diapers, my child fell from the diaper changing table and bruised her head.
- (girl aged 7 months)
- Among 1,000 respondents, 46 caregivers encountered that children fell from diaper changing tables, and 334 caregivers encountered that children nearly fell from diaper changing tables. The total ratio of them account for 38%.
- Diaper changing tables are often installed in multi-purpose restrooms. They are mostly foldable.
- 74% of caregivers didn’t use the attached safety belt.
- 86% of caregivers moved away or looked away from children. 58% of them replied that such unattended time was between 1 to 3 seconds.
- When children fell or nearly fell from diaper changing tables, 70% of caregivers were taking out something from their bags or disposing of used diapers.
- Barriers and belts to prevent children from falling, wider space for a child to lie, baggage compartment and trash can next to the diaper changing table
- It was found that a child might move and fall from a diaper changing table even within 1 to 3 seconds while taking something out of a bag or disposing of used diapers. Before using a diaper changing table, caregivers are recommended to make necessary preparations. Decluttering and disposing of trashes should be done after picking up a baby. The attached safety belt should be used to prevent a child from falling.
- If a child falls from a diaper changing table, it is highly likely that the child suffers from head injury. In case of falling and hitting the head, take the child to hospital.
- It has been reported that some children fell from diaper changing tables. NCAC requests manufacturers to develop and promote safer diaper changing tables. NCAC also requests manufacturers to further raise consumer awareness of falling risks and safety precautions for using the products.
- NCAC request the government to give proper instruction to the manufacturers so that they develop and promote safer diaper changing tables and further raise consumer awareness of falling risks and safety precautions for using the products.
- Questionnaire results show that 86% of caregivers moved or looked away from children, and 58% of them did so for only 1 to 3 seconds. NCAC requests the government to urge building managers to improve facility conditions so that caregivers can change baby diapers safely without moving or looking away from children.
- NCAC requests the government to further raise consumer awareness of falling risks and safety precautions for using the products.

In September 1961, after many years of service with the United States Postal Service, W. W. Law was fired from his position as postal carrier. His work with the NAACP and the extremely effective boycott of Savannah businesses made him a target for retaliation. With the assistance of Clarence Mitchell, NAACP lobbyist to Congress, and the National Alliance of Postal Employees, a campaign was launched to reinstate Law to his postal position. Six months later, with pressure from President John F. Kennedy, a three person appeals committee reinstated W. W. Law, restoring his seniority and providing him with back pay. In October 1966, just five years later, the new Savannah Postmaster, John G. Butler, was inspired by W. W. Law’s work through the NAACP to congratulate him on a successful re-election as Savannah branch president. W. W. Law served as NAACP Savannah Branch president for more than twenty-five years and as a postal carrier in his community for more than forty years, continuing every day to inspire others.

At lunch counters across the South in the spring of 1960, students began sit-ins to protest segregation. On March 16, 1960, three inspiring Savannah students sat down at the lunch counter in the Azalea Room of Levy’s Department Store and asked to be served. After being denied service and told to leave, the students were arrested. From this event, W. W. Law and other NAACP leaders conducted a boycott of Savannah’s businesses to desegregate facilities. By October 1963, City and business leaders agreed to integrate Savannah’s facilities.
This report provided by Dr. J. W. Jamerson, Jr. regarding his visit to Levy’s Azalea Room on July 27, 1961 is three months prior to the agreement reached by Savannah business leaders to end lunch counter segregation. His letter describes the developing changes in service for the African American community. Dr. Jamerson practiced dentistry in Savannah and was a prominent community leader. He was an active member of the NAACP, serving as vice president of the Savannah Branch for twenty-five years and participating in law suits brought by the NAACP to desegregate Savannah.

Originally, African American nurses were denied membership in the local district division of the Georgia Nurses’ Association, an organization affiliated with the American Nurses’ Association (ANA). In 1950, the ANA made provisions to provide direct membership to nurses that were restricted at the state level. The ANA also created a program to work toward integration of all areas of nursing. In January 1962, the Savannah Registered Nurses’ Association merged with Georgia’s First District Registered Nurses’ Association. By the end of 1962 membership was offered to the American Nurses’ Association at the state level to all qualified nurses regardless of race, color, or religion.
On June 28, 1962, inspired by the untiring efforts of the Savannah Branch of the NAACP, the Savannah Registered Nurses’ Association wrote W. W. Law making a donation towards continuing the fight for equality. In return, W. W. Law’s letter of thanks acknowledges the nurses’ accomplishments in integrating their profession.

As president of the Savannah Branch of the NAACP, W. W. Law worked to bring inspiring speakers to Savannah’s mass meetings. Medgar Evers (1925-1963), civil rights activist and NAACP field officer in Mississippi, was one such speaker. The “pressing problem in the city” that Evers refers to in this telegram is the arrival of the Freedom Riders to Jackson, Mississippi. On May 24, 1961, Freedom Riders began arriving in Jackson, Mississippi to integrate bus station facilities. An estimated 300 Freedom Riders would be arrested in Jackson during the summer of 1961.
As Mississippi’s NAACP field officer, Evers organized demonstrations, boycotts, and voter registration campaigns across the state, as well as investigated cases of discrimination and racial crimes. Because of his civil right activities, on June 12, 1963, Evers was fatally shot in his driveway. He was buried in Arlington National Cemetery with full honors. One year later the Civil Rights Act of 1964 was passed, outlawing public segregation practices and employment discrimination based on race, color, religion, sex, or national origin. It took thirty years and three trials to convict his murderer.

In March 1977, W. W. Law’s years of service with the NAACP were recognized with a Testimonial Banquet, during which he was honored through letters from local, regional and national civic leaders describing his dedication and many contributions. One of those letters was from Ruby Hurley (1909-1980), an important leader in the Civil Rights Movement. Hurley worked in the 1940s as NAACP National Youth Council Secretary, and from 1951 to 1978 as NAACP Southeast Regional Secretary. As NAACP National Youth Secretary, Mrs. Hurley directed and helped organize youth council chapters across the United States; increasing the number of chapters from 86 to 250. During her tenure as Southeast Regional Secretary, she worked with other activists to investigate racial crimes and combat Jim Crow legislation. Hurley and Law first became acquainted when he served as president of the Savannah youth council in the 1940s.

The Legacy Academy For Children CurriculumLegacy Academy – Roswell, GA
Introducing Our New Framework For Their Future® Enhanced Learning Curriculum
At Legacy Academy, we take pride in providing the finest educational opportunities for our students; and like our students, we are always on a path of continuous improvement. With that in mind, we are proud to announce our new Enhanced Learning curriculum.
The new curriculum is an “add on” to our copyrighted Framework for their Future® curriculum and enhances learning in Math, Science and Social Studies for each age group. Every lesson is specifically designed to meet all developmental levels and address several learning styles. Music and Literature enrichment play a key role in the curriculum as well as hands-on learning.
The new Enhanced Learning curriculum ensures that whether your child is 4 months old or 4 years old, they will be receiving quality instruction in a learning-focused environment.
Framework For Their Future®
The Legacy Academy curriculum, Framework For Their Future®, was designed by a team of child development and childcare experts and copyrighted for the exclusive use of Legacy AcademyFor Children®. This framework is grounded in current early childhood and recent brain development research.
Choose an icon below to learn more about each classroom’s unique curriculum:
The Legacy Academy uniquely designed curriculum, Framework For Their Future® provides a developmentally appropriate program that is challenging, stimulating and meets the needs of infants through school-age children. Interesting themes, combined with learning objectives, help our teachers plan learning experiences in art, music, language, fine and gross motor, emergent math and literacy, movement and drama. Our curriculum has a strong literature component. We believe that children become readers by being read to and that children become writers by having many opportunities to express their thoughts and feelings through print. Visit our classrooms and you will see charts, posters, sentence strips, writing centers, and the children’s own language displayed to support our goal of a print-rich environment. Books, teacher-made and child-created, are available throughout Legacy classrooms.
Framework For Their Future® is also based on the premise that children acquire more knowledge by actively exploring materials and enrichments put in place by the adults who facilitate children’s learning. Manipulatives, puzzles, games and art materials stimulate “hands-on” learning and concrete learning experiences. We also know that children do not learn skills in isolation. Shapes, colors, numbers, letters and phonemic awareness are woven throughout the day, every day, to give children a strong readiness foundation. When we learn colors, we learn fuchsia and vermillion-children love different and interesting words. When we learn shapes, we go past the circle and square and look for octagons, hexagons and pentagons within the school environment. We are always looking for fun and interesting ways to stimulate children’s learning.
At Legacy Academy we feel we can make a difference in the lives of children and their teachers, and that we are responsible for the “whole” child. Our curriculum includes experiences with real works of art and classical music. We encourage our children to learn about Renoir and Picasso, and to hear and move to the works of the Great musical masters. Among those masters, we make sure that Mother Goose has a special place. The imagery, language, and the rhythm and rhyme of nursery rhymes are perfect reading readiness skill builders. A Character Building focus rounds out each monthly plan. Our children are never too young to learn about honesty, patience, or friendship.
Brain Power activities incorporated within the daily routine help all our children, especially infants, make those brain building connections. Activities that Challenge and Activities that Strengthen are designed to individualize our program so that all our children can grow and develop at their own unique learning rates.
Assessment
We use an outcome-based learning assessment as our evaluation tool. Within a week of meeting your child, we are assessing skills in the areas of language, social-emotional development, and physical and cognitive development. This allows staff to plan for experiences that will help children develop and grow in their own unique learning timelines. From Infant to School-Ager, each child has an individual portfolio for work samples, progress notes, and developmental assessments that follow the child throughout his or her time at Legacy. The portfolio provides information about each child’s strengths and challenges and allows the teacher to individualize each child’s care and education.
Conferences are scheduled twice during the year, but our teachers are always available to share their knowledge and observations with you.
Partnership With Families
At Legacy Academy we know that it takes families, teachers, and our management teams working together to provide quality care and education for the little Legacies who come through our front door. We value your input, your support, and your confidence in us. We encourage you to partner with us in a variety of ways.
Our Teachers
Using a wonderful blend of experience, enthusiasm, knowledge, training, and skill, Legacy teachers create the perfect nurturing and safe environment for infants and young children. Their commitment to quality care reassures families each day that children are special at Legacy Academy. On-going training, educational conferences, workshops, and videos keep our teachers up-to-date with current research and educational requirements. We encourage and support all staff to reach for the stars in their educational and personal goals.

Project Coordinator Salary: Average, Starting, and Demand
Project coordinators have a challenging job. They must assist project managers in ensuring that all the elements of a project are completed on deadline and within the budget. In addition to that, they must negotiate and coordinate with team members and other stakeholders, which means they need excellent “soft skills” such as communication and empathy.
If a project begins to creep beyond its original scope, the project coordinator’s job becomes even more complex. It’s a role that requires fantastic management, multitasking and coordination skills. In light of all that, how much does it typically pay?
What is a project coordinator’s average salary?
According to Emsi Burning Glass, which collects and analyzes millions of job postings from across the country, the median project coordinator salary currently stands at $47,072. That’s much lower than the average salary for technologists in general: According to the latest Dice Tech Salary Report, the average technologist salary stands at $104,566, having increased 6. 9 percent between 2020 and 2021.
As with many jobs, however, a project coordinator’s salary increases with experience and skills; working at a deep-pocketed company (such as a tech giant) can also have a very positive impact on salary. Those with more than nine years in the role can earn as much as $83,000, and that’s before you consider perks and benefits. At a certain point, many project coordinators may choose to become a project manager, which can often prove more lucrative.
What is a project coordinator’s starting salary?
Project coordinators with between zero and two years of experience might expect to earn a median salary of $44,000. Education can also impact starting salaries; those with an associate’s degree have a median salary of $41,000, while those who’ve earned a bachelor’s can pull down $52,000.
What are the most valuable skills for a project coordinator?
An analysis by Emsi Burning Glass shows that the following skills pop up most often in job postings for project coordinators:
In addition, these job postings list “soft skills” such as communication, organization, teamwork/collaboration, problem-solving, multi-tasking, and writing—all of which are key to helping manage teams in a complex, often fast-paced environment.
Project coordinators are used in multiple industries. In a tech-industry context, however, keep in mind that many companies will want you to grasp your projects’ technical aspects. If you’re assisting a project manager in a software-development effort (building a mobile app, say), you’ll almost certainly need working knowledge of the programming languages, tools, and platforms involved.
Are project coordinators in demand?
Over the past 12 months, employers posted some 65,936 open positions for project managers, and the average time to fill an open role was 38 days—a bit lower than other roles such as software developer, and indicative of somewhat softer demand. Emsi Burning Glass predicts that the project coordinator role will grow roughly four percent over the next decade.

What does a project coordinator do?
The Project Coordinator performs administrative tasks that support the Project Manager and ensures projects are completed on schedule and on budget. You can participate in specific projects or support the business as a whole. You can find project coordinators in a wide variety of organizations, from architecture firms, agricultural businesses, technology firms, healthcare, and construction. Responsibilities of the project coordinator may include:
Average salary
day or temporary work. Salaries for project coordinators vary depending on the location, size and sector of the employer, as well as the education and experience of the employee.
Project Coordinator Requirements
To become a project coordinator, you need a combination of education and experience. The exact levels of each will depend on the position you are applying for, but hiring managers will consider:
Education
Associate project coordinator positions may not require formal education after a high school diploma or GED, but many employers require that candidates entry-level project coordinators had a bachelor’s degree in business, communications, or a related field. These disciplines prepare these professionals with core business principles and experience in teamwork and project management.
Professional development
Project coordinators often receive on-the-job training that specifically focuses on education and training for this role. You may work alongside a departing team member, or you may be supervised by a project manager. After shadowing and supervision, you should be comfortable doing tasks on your own.
Certifications
Certifications show your employer that you have the skills, knowledge and technical ability to help you in your job. Here are some common certifications that can help you in your project coordinator career:
Certified SCRUM Master
For companies that use the Scrum framework to organize projects, certification from, for example, the International Scrum Assembly can teach the process. This certification can open up opportunities for career advancement, such as becoming a Scrum Master and increasing your earning potential.
PRINCE2
This certification stands for Projects in Controlled Environments and shows how to manage projects by breaking them down into smaller, more manageable task groups. You can obtain this certificate online from several vendors.
Primavera Certification
This is a training program for project management software such as Primavera P6 Professional Project Management. Modules cover topics such as project creation, project planning, financing, project execution and control. The result of passing the exam is a Primavera Certified Specialist Diploma, which can be useful to potential employers.
Skills
Some of the specific skills required to be a successful project coordinator include:
Communication
The project coordinator can use interpersonal skills such as conflict management to resolve problems that team members may have. In addition, they must have exceptional written and verbal communication skills so that the entire team understands what is expected of them.
These professionals may also interact directly with clients and senior management, which means they may need to adjust their communication style to provide project updates to various stakeholders.
Problem Solving and Critical Thinking
Critical thinking skills are essential because projects can be difficult or create unexpected obstacles. The project coordinator must act quickly to implement these changes and maintain the project schedule. They may also need the help of a project manager if the project changes, or collaboration with other team members to find an effective solution.
Time Management
The Project Coordinator carefully monitors and coordinates each stage of the project to ensure that they meet critical deadlines. They can use calendar management and other task management tools to make sure every team member gets the job done and the project stays on schedule.
Budgeting
This professional assists the project manager in managing project finances. The project coordinator may be involved in resource allocation, cost monitoring and cash flow forecasting.
Project coordinator work environment
Project coordinators usually work in offices, but the work environment may vary by industry. You may need to travel to visit project clients or places of work. Depending on the industry, you may deal directly with clients or work primarily in a non-client role.
In some sectors, such as construction, there may be time spent outside. On some projects, you may not need to leave the office. There can be a wide range of tasks at work, as projects can be diverse in content, client needs, or processes.
How to become a project coordinator
Working as a project coordinator means that you support the business and everyone on your team. Follow these steps to find a project coordinator job.
1. Research the job market
Review job descriptions or companies that interest you to better align your career path with these expectations. Determine the skills and training required to get the job you want.
2. Continue your education
You can find an entry-level position that only requires a high school diploma or GED and appropriate interpersonal skills. Consider also getting a bachelor’s degree and gaining more knowledge about the basic principles of business.
3. Consider Certification
Depending on your company and industry, consider getting a certification to assess your knowledge and skills and better demonstrate your skills to potential employers.
4. Develop advanced skills
Competence with computers and technology is important for many project coordinator positions, so consider upgrading your skills and experience with those in your intended industry. For example, learning about electronic patient record systems if you want to work in healthcare.
5. Get relevant experience
You can apply for a junior or entry-level project coordinator with a resume that highlights your education, certifications, and skills. Consider also working in similar positions, such as office administration, to gain valuable experience and interpersonal skills such as time management, organization, and customer service.
Sample Project Coordinator Job Description

Baby falls from changing table: What to Do If Your Infant Falls Off the Bed – Cleveland Clinic
What to Do If Your Infant Falls Off the Bed – Cleveland Clinic
You cover all the sharp edges on your furniture. You plug all the electrical sockets, latch all the drawers and block off the staircase. You’ve baby-proofed your house to the best of your ability.
But, inevitably, the day will come when your child gets hurt.
For some parents, that day comes when they turn their back to grab a diaper and baby rolls right off the changing table. Or they’re carrying baby along with a load of laundry down the stairs and trip and fall.
In this gut-wrenching moment of panic, you might be inclined to immediately pick your baby up off the floor and rush to the emergency room. But take a moment to breathe and observe first.
Sometimes babies need emergency medical attention after falling, and sometimes they’re just fine. You, of course, want to be sure your baby gets the medical attention they need, but you also don’t want to put them through unnecessary stress – and rack up medical bills — from an unneeded ER visit.
Pediatrician Ei Ye Mon, MD, provides some advice to assist in your decision-making.
Babies and falls
This scenario happens more often than you might think. Falls are the leading cause of nonfatal injuries in kids, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. In children under age 1, falls account for over 50% of nonfatal injuries.
And most of the time, children are not severely injured. But
infants under 12 months of age have more fragile skulls, which makes falls more
risky for them, Dr. Ye Mon says.
“The younger they are, the more dangerous it is for a
serious head injury, no matter the mechanism of the fall or how high it is,” she
says.
Advertising Policy
Is it an emergency?
It can be hard to tell whether infants have sustained an
injury or are in pain, but there are a few key signs to look for.
Before picking up a child after a fall, check for obvious
signs of head trauma, which would warrant an immediate call to 9-1-1 for
emergency help. Those signs include:
If any of these signs are present, avoid the urge to pick up
your child and comfort them. “With head traumas, it’s possible that they’ve
also injured their neck or spine, and you don’t want to possibly worsen the
injury by moving them,” Dr. Ye Mon says.
A deformity anywhere on the body that looks like it could be
a broken bone should also be treated as an emergency.
If the baby is having a seizure after a fall, gently roll
them to their side before calling 9-1-1, she adds.
If the child is alert and crying (that’s a normal reaction
for a startled baby, even when there is no injury), and there are no obvious
signs of injury, gently pick them up and console them.
“If they don’t improve after you console them, then I would
be concerned,” Dr. Ye Mon says.
Keep a close watch for the next 24 hours
Symptoms of an injury might not be obvious right away, so even
if you don’t think emergency medical care is needed, keep a close eye on your
baby’s behavior over the next 24 hours.
Advertising Policy
“Usually, once you’ve passed that 24-hour mark, it’s safe to
say that anything scary is less likely,” Dr. Ye Mon says.
Babies are likely to want to go to sleep after a fall, whether they have a concussion or not. Dr. Ye Mon says it isn’t necessary to try to keep them awake to monitor them, but you should try waking them every few hours to make sure they’re rousable. If they’re not, seek immediate medical care.
If you notice any behavior that is out of the ordinary – if
your baby is more fussy than usual or inconsolable – that’s something that
should be checked out by a doctor, too.
And, if you have other reasons to suspect that your baby is
injured, trust your parental instincts.
“If parents have any concerns at all, it’s never wrong to have them evaluated by a doctor to be on the safer side, especially at that age,” Dr. Ye Mon says.
Prevention is key
You can’t talk about falls without talking about preventing
them in the first place.
Dr. Ye Mon recommends that babies do not sleep in adult beds
or on other elevated surfaces unattended – even if you think they aren’t
rolling yet. It’s even smart to place car seats or bouncy seats on the floor
instead of a chair or kinds of elevated furniture that they could potentially
fall off of.
And as hard as it is, try not to multitask. Use both hands
to carry a baby and ensure that their neck is always supported.
Caution! Child may fall from diaper changing table! Risk of head injury is high and hospital stay may be required
Diaper changing tables are necessary for changing baby diapers while on the go. Large commercial facilities often have diaper changing tables in restrooms and baby rooms. It has been reported that some children fell from diaper changing tables and got injured. Some time ago, NCAC issued an alert on this problem1 and relevant organizations made efforts aimed at preventing children from such falling accidents. 2
The Medical Facilities Network3 received 58 accident reports4 in about 9 years since December 2010 that children fell from diaper changing tables in public spaces (data registered through December 31, 2019). Among the 58 cases, cases of head injuries amounted to 41 cases (71%), 8 cases of which required hospital stay.
NCAC has analyzed the accident reports received by the Medical Facilities Network and has conducted an online questionnaire survey to find out how the products are used. Based on the findings, NCAC would like to share information on this issue and urge relevant organizations to take measures.

Why is it dangerous for a baby to fall off the changing table?
Very often this happens almost instantly. It is necessary to be distracted and the child rolls over to the edge of the changing table and falls down. According to 2013 medical statistics, more than 80 percent of all injuries in children under two years of age occur at home, with fall-related injuries at the top of the list. What types of injuries are most common and how to avoid them? These and other questions are answered below by pediatric surgeons and pediatricians of the Markushka Children’s Clinic.
What are the most common injuries?
If a child falls from the height of the changing table, which may seem small to some careless parents, serious bodily injury can result. And first of all – craniocerebral injuries, since the child’s head in relation to other parts of the body is quite large and heavy.
Head injuries in children are classified according to severity as minor injuries (concussion, also has varying degrees of severity), moderate injuries (brain contusion) and severe (severe brain contusion, intracranial hematomas, skull fractures).
Two factors contribute to severe injuries. Firstly, a small child has not yet developed protective reflexes and, naturally, he cannot reflexively protect his head from a blow. Secondly, the cranial bones are not yet strong enough, and in the first months of life they are not fully formed and are easily damaged (despite the fact that they are connected by natural shock absorbers in the form of sutures and fontanelles). In addition, the blood vessels in the meninges are thin-walled and can be damaged by a sharp blow, leading to threatening intracranial hemorrhages.
However, more than 90 percent of traumatic brain injuries caused by a table fall are diagnosed with concussion of varying severity, which is usually not assessable at the first moment after the fall. This requires continuous and careful monitoring of the child for 24-48 hours. If parents notice even the slightest deviations in normal behavior, it is necessary to urgently contact a pediatric surgeon or call a pediatrician at home. In general, it is desirable to do this, even if the parents believe that the blow in the fall was minor, since only a specialist can correctly diagnose the severity of the injury.
Why do I need to see a pediatrician?
The brains of a young child and an adult are significantly different and this leads to significant differences in the symptoms of a concussion.
Symptoms of concussion in children under one year of age may be mild. The child quite often does not lose consciousness, but vomiting (single or multiple), nausea, blanching of the skin, increased drowsiness (but poor sleep), tearfulness, unreasonable anxiety, and abnormal pupillary reaction to light may occur. Such symptoms, as a rule, are not enough for an accurate diagnosis and instrumental examination and additional diagnostic methods are necessary. Moreover, immediately after the injury, a small child may feel quite well (state of compensation), but then the above symptoms quickly appear and increase.
Additional and urgent diagnostics, especially in severe injuries, are prescribed by pediatric surgeons, neurologists, traumatologists in a children’s medical center (polyclinic). For this, neurosonography (for young children), head x-ray, computed tomography of the brain (CT), magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), electroencephalography (EEG) are used. The complex of such methods allows you to make an accurate diagnosis and start timely treatment.
How to avoid falling off the changing table?
Children’s falls resulting in injury are not their fault, but their parents’ fault and the result of their carelessness. A small child is developing rapidly, and if yesterday he lay quietly on the changing table, today he can be more active. Therefore, you should always keep your hand on the child when he is on the table. If you need to move to a distance greater than the length of an outstretched arm, then the baby must be shifted to a safe place.
Child caught falling baby
Footage of the baby being rescued was captured on internal surveillance camera. This family miraculously escaped tragedy!

The disturbing moment of the fall of a one-year-old baby was accidentally caught on an internal surveillance camera installed in the house. Everything happened very quickly. The mother of five children, Tila Levy, stepped away from the changing table for just a minute, on which her 11-month-old son Eitan was lying. At this time, the baby rolled over the edge and flew head down. The fall of a child from such a height could have ended in tragedy if at that moment his elder brother, Joseph, had not been next to Eitan. By some miracle, a nine-year-old boy managed to put his hands forward and catch the baby. Then a frightened Tila jumped up to the children. Seeing what happened, she hugged Joseph tightly and thanked him for saving his brother. Later, the proud mother posted a video on social networks to tell the whole world about the incredible act of her eldest son. And soon these shots hit all American television channels:

As Tila later said, that day she was alone at home with her children. When she changed Eitan’s diaper, he was very calm. The boy lay on the changing table and moved his arms and legs, but the mother could not even think that in a second her child might fall. Teela realizes that she made a mistake that day by turning her back to the changing table, but is happy that Joseph was there and prevented trouble.
“I must have done something good in my life since heaven sent me this guy,” says the proud mother.
The little hero himself cannot explain how exactly he managed to catch the child. “I couldn’t do it again, because I can’t even lift my brother,” he says.

City of Louisville, Kentucky, USA
Louisville is the largest city in Kentucky. The urban population is more than six hundred thousand people. The city has an interesting geographical location. The largest city of Kentucky is the northernmost settlement among the cities of the South of the States. Louisville was influenced by the culture of the southern, middle states of America.
The settlement that later became Louisville was officially registered in the 78th year of the eighteenth century. The ancestor of the city was Colonel Rogers of the Armed Forces of America. He conducted military maneuvers against the British occupiers. The city was named after the ruler of France, Louis the 16th. Such attention was due to the fact that the soldiers of the French troops supported the American military in the struggle for the independence of the territory. nine0003
The development of the city began with the development of river rapids, which are called “waterfalls” here. These rapids were a major problem in shipping. As a result, the participation of groups of people who were well versed in navigation was required. Thus began the period of formation of the economic factor of Louisville, which was based on river traffic.
To date, the city has remained a transport hub for shipping, retaining its importance. But also developed air and rail transport. According to statistics, the working class prevails in the structure of the labor resources of the urban district. The city is based 2 major automotive production company Ford. Thirty percent of all Bourbon whiskey produced is made in Louisville. nine0003
Main Attractions
On the first weekend of May, an annual event takes place in the fate of the city. It was at this time that a sports competition called the Kentucky Derby was held. In the life of the city, the competition is marked as a socio-cultural event. This competition is a prestigious race of three-year-old horses. The race takes only two minutes and is considered the fastest time in the history of the sport.
Various events and festivals are held before the Kentucky Derby. Preliminaries include:

Boise state daycare: Boise State Children’s Center – Childrens Center
Frequently Asked Questions – Childrens Center
Q: Are you a daycare?
A: The term day care often assumes that low skill professionals are keeping children alive through the day. When, here at the Boise State Children’s Center, so much more is happening. Our educators thoughtfully and intentionally partner with families, design beautiful environments, provocations, and learning invitations, engage in deep conversations with children about their interests, and advocate for children’s rights in the first five years of life.
The words we use matter and have an impact. How we talk about early care and education directly aligns with our expectations for how we believe children should be treated and the expectations we hold for the adults who engage with them. When we use respectful terms to talk about early childhood educators and their work, as a community, we are demonstrating a high level of respect for young children and the important learning and development that occurs in the first five year.
At Boise State University we don’t have a daycare, we have early care and education. We do not have providers in our classrooms, we have early childhood educators. We are proud of this distinction and hope you are, too.
Q: Do you offer part-time care?
A: Our belief is that children really thrive when they have a reliable and stable routine. Knowing this, we are only enrolling children in full-time spots at the Children’s Center at this time.
Q: Can any family place themselves on the waitlist?
A: At this time, we are only serving the faculty, staff, and student families of Boise State University. If space allows, students, staff and faculty from University of Idaho will be offered spaces.
Q: What does the waitlist process look like?
A: By following this link, you will be able to place your child/children on our waiting list. This page also has the option to view our waitlist by age group. This document is updated monthly, and the last time that it was updated is indicated in the spreadsheet’s name. If your child is offered a spot in our program, you will receive about a month’s notice from their start date at the Children’s Center.
Q: How is it decided which child on the waitlist will be offered a spot?
A: Priority will be given to the staff members’ children at the Children’s Center. The next priority will be given to the siblings of those children who are already enrolled at the Center. After this, spots are offered depending on the age of the child and where they are in chronological order on the waitlist.
The Center is open 5 days a week and from 7:30 AM to 5:15 PM year round. You can access our calendar to view days we are closed for holidays and professional development here.
Q: What does an “average day” look like at the Children’s Center?
7:30 a. m.* Greeting Time / Classroom Exploration
9:00 a.m. Snack
9:30 a.m. Morning Meetings
10:00 a.m. Investigations/Explorations; Outdoor Play; Large Muscle Activities
12:15 p.m.Lunch
12:45 p.m.Rest/Quiet Activities
3:15 p.m. Snack
4:00 p.m.*Open Learning Centers, Outdoor Play
5:15 p.m. Closing Time
Q: What is your curriculum?
A: At the Boise State Children’s Center we believe in the early years PLAY IS ENOUGH.
We are not an academic readiness or theme based early care and education center. Instead, we follow a child centered inquiry, play-based learning approach to honor and nurture young children’s natural curiosity as the driving force and foundation for lifelong learning. Children in all classrooms use open ended materials and loose parts as the primary materials for learning, thinking and understanding. Our teachers create intentional environments, invitations, and activities grounded in children’s interests to support children’s explorations. Neuroscience and child development point to children’s curiosity, interests and developmental matters as the primary vehicles for their immediate, complex, comprehensive, and sustained learning and development.
In addition to our approach above, our infant/toddler looping classrooms teachers also follow the principles of resources for infant educarers (RIE). This means teachers show an immense amount of respect for infants and their autonomy. Children are given time and space to explore while teachers closely observe to ascertain children’s needs. Teachers provide consistent environments and routines, while involving children in the daily care routines.
If a child is an infant or young toddler, the curriculum is focused on expert nurturing for the child and supporting their developmental needs. We provide knowledgeable nurturing care in a safe and secure environment for the child to feel comfortable which supports a child to develop an attachment to their primary teacher. With those conditions established and supporting a child’s natural, individual daily patterns of eating, diapering, and napping, we provide a rich and various sensory experiences and opportunities for them to develop their exploratory skills and their body in their own way and in their own time.
If a child is an older toddler, we provide a responsive, respectful and reciprocal approach to develop social skills as relationship opportunities emerge and to guide them in exploring a rich array of materials, processes, tools, and environments. As they demonstrate individual interests, we assist them in exploring those interests in-depth and in a variety of ways over extended periods of time,
If a child is a preschooler, we facilitate them in pursuing their inclinations, interests, and inquisitiveness through a variety of media, processes, and environments, while supporting their individual learning style, temperament, developing group skills, and multiple intelligences.
Q: What age groups do you serve at the Children’s Center?
A: Our classrooms are organized by age as of September 1. In many of our local public schools children cannot enter kindergarten if they are not 5 on September 1 so it makes sense that we organize our enrollment that way, too.
We employ a “looping” model in our classrooms wherein children and teachers stay together for 3 years in the infant/toddler years (known as “the loop”) and 2 years in preschool.
Loop 1 | Children younger than 1 on September 1 |
Loop 2 | Children aged 1 on September 1 |
Loop 3 | Children aged 2 on September 1 |
Preschool | Children ages 3-5 pm September 1 |
Children can begin in our program when they are 2 months old or up to date with their vaccinations.
Q: Do you offer any transportation options and/or food programs?
A: We do not offer transportation at the Children’s Center, and at this time, we do not have an active food program. Currently, families are responsible for providing their child with a morning snack, lunch, and an afternoon snack.
Q: What credentials and licensing do your teachers and staff members have?
A: All of our staff members have undergone a background check and fingerprinting. They also all have their CPR/First Aid certification. Our teachers are professional early childhood educators many with degrees in early childhood education. Most of our staff have or are currently taking coursework in early childhood education at the University level.
Q: What is the tuition?
A: You can access our current tuition rates here.

Riverstone International School
Riverstone International School is a private independent school for students from preschool to high school age. More than 370 students from 45+ countries study here. The boarding school consists of 23 students from 14 countries.
Riverstone International School was founded in 1997 as Hidden Springs Community School. The school’s mission was to provide students with a quality, independent education focused on engaging and active learning, commitment to the environment, and dedication to the school and local communities. nine0005
Located north of Boise, Idaho, Hidden Springs Community School opened its doors to 57 students from kindergarten through eighth grade. Since opening, the school’s dynamic learning environment has continued to evolve.
Riverstone International School is located between the Boise River and the Greenbelt in Southeast Boise, near the Idaho Shakespeare Festival and the Harris Ranch area, easily accessible from Warm Springs Avenue.
On the 14-acre campus, teachers have the opportunity to expand learning beyond the classroom walls, and students have plenty of room to unwind during breaks. Students sketch in the nearby Idaho Shakespeare Festival Preserve, conduct water quality tests on the Boise River, hold class discussions outside in the sun, or play football and basketball during recess.
Combining elementary, middle and high school on one campus promotes communication between students of all ages, staff and parents. This close interaction reinforces the sense of community and provides many opportunities for leadership. nine0005
The elementary school features an energy efficient design, large classrooms with plenty of natural light and a two-story atrium often used for celebrations, gatherings and performances. It is home to elementary school students and the school’s administrative staff.
Middle and high school students move between different classes during the school day. Their buildings include classrooms, the school library, a school-wide science lab, a communal outdoor courtyard known as “The Quad”, a recording studio, a student lounge, and a small outdoor stage perfect for impromptu band performances. nine0005
Sports and recreational facilities include Kennedy Grammar School, tennis courts, a full-size soccer field, and two playgrounds – one for preschoolers and one for all grades. Students thrive on small class sizes, personal attention and exciting opportunities.
The school is an expert in international baccalaureate programs. As the first IB worldwide school in Idaho, it is one of only 37 schools in the US eligible to participate in the three IB programs (elementary school program, secondary education program, and diploma program). The IB curriculum is demand-driven, focusing on the breadth and depth of knowledge, critical thinking and the development of global citizens. nine0005
Experience matters. Each IB World School develops its own curriculum.
In addition to the day program for preschool through high school students, Riverstone offers a full boarding program for 30 high school students. It is one of only four schools in the US with a boarding program that offers IB PYP, MYP and DP.

Most recently, Edgar was the top leader of Common Cause, a national advocacy group with over 400,000 members and 1990 state organizations.
