Best Board Games for Learning How to Cooperate

Noah’s Animal Rescue!

Next on our list of best board games for 4-year-olds is a board game that encourages kids to play together. In Noah’s Animal Rescue, instead of the usual objective of “who reaches the finish line first”, this game encourages kids to communicate and work together. The endgame of this board game is essentially a win-win situation for everyone playing. The objective of this game is to get all the animals on the boat before the Great Flood, and the only way to do this is by working together.

If you are looking for a game that emphasizes cooperation instead of competition, look no further.

Hoot Owl Hoot

Another game on our list of best board games that help kids play together is Hoot Owl Hoot. The objective of this game is to work together to help all the little owls get home before the sun goes up. To play, pick a color card and fly to that space. If a player draws a sun card, you become one step closer to daylight. Instead of being assigned a pawn like in most games, each player can move any owl on their turn and talk together about how to get the owls home.

By working together, your child will learn different social skills such as learning to cooperate, take turns, and communicate ideas.

Snug As A Bug In A Rug

The next cooperative game on our list of best board games is called Snug As A Bug In A Rug. In this game, players work collectively to get all the bugs under the rug before the stink bugs are released. To get the bugs under the rug, each player takes turns to spin the spinner to decide which bug is next to hide. Like the three games before this, there is no winner in the game. Either everyone wins or everyone loses.

This game is great because it not only enforces cooperative and collective play, but this game also teaches about colors, shapes, numbers, and sizes.

Shark Bite

What screams suspenseful more than a game featuring a shark? The last game on our list of best board games is called Shark Bite. Kids who love the classic fishing game will love this game with its added suspenseful twist. Instead of catching as many fish as possible, the object of this game is to save as many sea creatures from inside the shark’s mouth. But players beware! Parents love this game for its easy set-up, but this game is also great because it teaches kids how to take turns, matching skills, hand-eye coordination, and critical thinking skills

  1. Games for children 4 years old
  2. 9004 children 3-4 years online free

These are the best educational games for kids 3-4 years old that you can play for free online on our website. Boys and girls at this age are overly curious and inquisitive. Kids are already fantasizing with might and main and strive to show their creativity. And so that they do not spoil your favorite expensive wallpapers, it is better to find an alternative for this, for example, puzzles, coloring books and computer educational games. Children have already managed to get to know the world through “nibbling” and “breaking” and are now ready to expand their horizons to the global scale. It is in 3-4 years that speech is formed, there is a rapid memorization of words (up to 2000 in two years), logical thinking develops and the ability to generalize objects is formed. nine0003

Toddlers are already beginning to make their first conclusions, to establish a relationship between the picture and the name of the object (visual-figurative thinking is being formed) and for the first time they learn the feeling of beauty through aesthetic development. But it can be very difficult to capture the attention of a child by laying out boring numbers and letters in front of him. Our games make learning so much more fun! Colorful pictures, igniting music and favorite characters from familiar cartoons: mischievous genies from Shimmer and Shine, inquisitive heroes from Dora the Traveler, a brave rescue team from Paw Patrol, beautiful stylists from Sunny Day and daring birds from the “Brave Chicks”. All these educational games for the little ones are aimed at improving memory, thinking, learning new words and even English, because at 3-4 years old it is much easier for a child to remember “hello, my name is…” than for an adult. Also, now is the time to start learning the basics of mathematics, learn the basics of geometry and memorize the names of shapes. The child in our games will have to solve simple puzzles and take their first small steps in the fascinating world of numbers. Folding a boat out of geometric shapes, distributing orange slices equally among the forest animals – all this the kid can easily do after completing our cool quests. But getting knowledge of the Russian language and mathematics is not all that we can offer. Bright coloring pages will help boys and girls learn to distinguish colors. They will be able to compose unusual combinations of various shades and form their own aesthetic perception of the world. Girls, among other things, on the site will be able to find games with reincarnations, in which there is a huge assortment of hairstyles and a choice of fashion models. Such games will support young fashionistas craving for creativity and help them bring to life all their cool ideas with hairstyles and outfits for their favorite characters. And boys with minimal health risks will be able to drive cars and learn how to bypass simple obstacles. Among other games, you can also find puzzles with scenes from cartoons, “find the object in the picture” tasks, and games for matching two pictures and finding differences between them. And, of course, all these coloring pages, puzzles and quests will not only entertain boys and girls, but will also try to answer many questions of little “why”. Kids will learn what sounds animals make, look at flowers and plants in detail, learn the names of professions (and maybe even find one that they like), get acquainted with natural phenomena and household items.

Education abroad, study abroad, study abroad – Education in the USA, study and study in the USA | STUDENTS INTERNATIONAL Marian Catholic High School

Amerigo Chicago is a unique concept from Amerigo Education. International students study from grades 9 to 12 at the American daytime school Marian Catholic High School. 80% of the students are American students, the remaining 20% are a community of international students from around the world. Marian Catholic High School is a Catholic school founded in 1958 year. A distinctive feature of Catholic schools in the United States is multi-confessionalism. The school is open to bright, academically, socially and athletically motivated international students, regardless of their religious affiliation.

The school is located in a beautifully landscaped suburb of Chicago and provides students with both educational opportunities and comfortable living.

The school is a Niche Grade A school and is the 32nd best private school in Illinois.

A strong specialization of the school is the study of STEM disciplines (science, technology, engineering, mathematics). The school has all the conditions for working in STEM disciplines at a high level: a fully technologically equipped campus, highly professional laboratories in physics, biology and chemistry.

Marian Catholic High School twice awarded the Blue Ribbon School of Excellence award for outstanding academic achievement. In 2016, 82 students were singled out for outstanding academic achievement, i.e. their GPA was “excellent” during all semesters of study. Also among the students of the school there are 2 finalists of the prestigious Merit academic scholarship, one is a semi-finalist, in total 7 students of the school were applied for this scholarship.

Graduates of Marian Catholic High School study at Ivy League universities such as Columbia University, Harvard University, MIT, Stanford University, Yale University. Students also study at the top hundred US universities: Boston University, Cornell University, University of Chicago, University of Illinois, University of Wisconsin and others.

At the school, you can choose in-depth education in 41 subjects, mainly STEM. At the same time, as additional classes, you can choose areas in art and social sciences.

    Accommodation:
international students live in a comfortable residence that implements the Amerigo concept of “home away from home”. The residence has a comfortable dining room, a cozy living room, a room for doing homework. Students live in rooms designed for two people. There are two educators with the students on a permanent basis, whose duties include organizing the life and social life of students: breakfasts, sports events, trips to the nearest shops. An English teacher also resides in the residence, whose task is to help students improve their English to improve academic results. The family friendly atmosphere of the residence helps international students to quickly adapt to a new life and get better grades at school.

    Sports:
The school offers a variety of sports, both professional and amateur. At school, you can choose from a large number of sports: baseball, basketball, cheerleading, American football, golf, football, tennis, athletics, volleyball, swimming, fencing.

The school’s wrestling team was state champion in 2016 and 2017, the women’s volleyball team was state champion in 2016, and the men’s diving team was state champion in 2015.

Centre Manager, Our Kids Mataki Way

Kia Ora, my name is Brooke and I am the Centre Manager for Our Kids Mataki Way.

I have been working in Early Childhood since 2007. I hold a Graduate Diploma of Teaching (ECE), alongside a Postgraduate Diploma in Early Intervention. I have worked in a range of settings in the early childhood sector. I started my career working in Daycare, then as a Visiting Teacher and Manager in the Home Based Sector and more recently Kindergarten.

I teach from the heart and give 100% in all that I do. I believe that when our tamariki, fellow Kaiako and whanau are treated with kindness and compassion meaningful relationships develop. The strength of these relationships ground us in a space that enables us to explore, to fly and let our true selves shine. I am committed to my role leading our wonderful team of passionate early childhood educators and working in a collaborative space to promote rich and meaningful learning opportunities for our tamariki.

Hi, I’m Sarah and I joined the Our Kids family in September 2019.  I hold a Bachelor of Education (Early Childhood) and I have been teaching for the last 12 years.

My passion is to foster a calm, relaxing environment in order to create opportunities for children to explore freely. I am influenced by the works of Emmi Pikler and Madga Gerber, and I teach with a respectful approach to care and education which forms the basis of my teaching philosophy.  I am constantly learning from the children by slowing down, observing the children and seeing them for who they are in order to build trusting, authentic relationships. Building strong relationships with tamariki, family and whanau is imperative and underpins all my work.

Outside of work I am a mother of 3 Children Olivia 16, Liam 12 and Mila 8. I am proud to be part of the teaching team here in the Glen Haven room where respect, patience and love are valued and encouraged.

Online Learning and Education Center for Children

    We offer the following classes:

    Contacts

    All our prices

Planetaclub has been operating as a training center since the end of 2017. Our activities are aimed at teaching children of almost all ages. We will become useful for students from the smallest age up to 17 years. Working with:

    • children from 4 years of age as part of school preparation and developmental classes, as well as in lessons with a speech therapist;
    • with schoolchildren of all grades individually with tutors and in group courses;
    • With the same schoolchildren in remote classes in an online school throughout Ukraine and beyond;
    • With fourth-graders and ninth-graders at DPA preparation courses;
    • With 11th graders in preparation for ZNO/NMT.

The educational center offers classes in all school (and preschool) subjects, and our main distinguishing feature is the ability to teach material both online in real time and offline, as well as combining two formats in one lesson. This is when one teacher broadcasts for a group that studies at our center in the city of Irpin (Kyiv region), as well as for students who watch the broadcast online.

Other differences in learning in our training center

We have been working with a variety of ages for a long time and we understand that if a child is interested, he will attend classes with pleasure. Such interest is the only reason for the student to study well and absorb the material. That is why our children’s educational center does everything possible so that the child not only listens to the lesson, but immediately puts into practice what the teacher said.

Formulas and rules cut off from reality, students, if they remember, are reluctant. Of course, we teach formulas and check schoolchildren for knowledge of the material. But in order to interest and help to better understand the next paragraph, it is better to show how they can be used in real life.

Compared to a regular school, private educational centers for children like ours have more opportunities to incorporate innovations into the school curriculum. Thus, we have the opportunity to diversify it and give students the feeling that the knowledge they receive is really useful.

We, the children’s training center team, understand the need for daily activities. In addition, we know how important it is to be able to “pick up the key” to the student, so experienced teachers will go through each new stage of education with children. Our team of teachers is constantly expanding with specialists who love children very much and know how to work with them.

    Why Planetaclub?

We are approached by mothers and fathers from all over Europe, some Asian countries and even America. And of course, we are widely known in our region as a tutoring center that provides quality knowledge!

The main advantages of the Planetaclub training center.

    • Our educational center employs specialists with extensive experience in the field of education. They will always be able to find an individual approach to the student and make sure that the student gets the maximum benefit from the classes.

    • For our courses, we prepare special plans and methods that help to explain all topics in an easy and accessible way.

    • For online and offline training, we use only modern literature, as well as all technical capabilities.

    • The training center meets the needs of our clients and we can choose the best option for them in accordance with the required time and place of the courses.

    • You can choose one or more items that will be optimally distributed by our specialists so that the child does not receive an extra load. Children receive knowledge in an accessible form.

    • With us you can study all subjects in groups and/or individually.

All this and other favorable conditions of our training center makes it attractive to our numerous clients.

    More about our services:

Online school in Live mode – upon completion, state documents are issued.

The students of our training center within the online school attend daily lessons in accordance with the approved schedule. Classes are held live in the classical format – teacher-students. The duration of each lesson is 40 minutes, with breaks of 5-10 minutes. The number of people in the class is up to six . In our experience, a small class allows the teacher to give attention to everyone. After all, despite all the advantages of online learning in an educational center, an important issue is the ability to give knowledge and keep the student’s attention. In addition, this number reduces the likelihood of technical malfunctions.

In just a few lessons, children get used to the new form of classes and by the end of the first week of training they feel the same as in a regular lesson at school.

Online education in the Planetaclub children’s educational center is as close as possible to the usual school activities. The main difference is distance. The rest are classic school lessons. The teacher introduces the children to the educational material, checks knowledge, students can ask questions and immediately get an answer to them. Given the small number of students in the class, the teacher manages to interview everyone and such a lesson is more effective than usual. After all, everyone gets much more attention.

Teachers of our online educational center actively use modern teaching methods in their work, such as STEM approach . This approach combines several subjects at once and students can put into practice knowledge of mathematics, biology, physics, chemistry in a complex.

Homework is not only classic written work. Teachers of the online educational activity center have modern tests, interesting assignments and even an online laboratory at their disposal. Our online school works for students from all over Ukraine and beyond!

Online and offline preparation for STD/NMT and DPA.

These exams are very important for all high school students. Classes at the training center will significantly help you get good scores and enter higher educational institutions. You can select the desired item or several items at once. If you are in Irpen, then we will be happy to invite you to prepare for the STD / NMT and prepare for the DPA in our offline educational center. Well, if you are from another region, we will be glad to see you at the monitor online.

Online EIT / NMT online preparation courses in core subjects start every September for students in grades 10-11. Preparation for DPA online also begins annually in September for students in grades 4, 9. In January, we conduct an additional enrollment for express preparation courses for DPA and ZNO. For all other classes, there is also the possibility of forming mini-groups from 4 to 6 students according to the school curriculum.

Teachers of the training center are engaged in such a way that often students are ahead of the program, but if a child has a gap, they immediately direct efforts to fill it.

Students do not always learn consistently from class to class. In some class, a situation could well arise when a student missed a topic on health or was away. But you can’t explain this at ZNO/NMT, so you have to work hard. Read more about preparing for ZNO and DPA here.

Courses for children 4-10 years old online and offline.

It is in childhood that the foundations of education are laid. In this case, it is very important that the child receives the necessary knowledge, but at the same time they are provided in an easy and accessible way.

Our children’s educational center will help you learn to read, count and write. Classes for young students are held in a playful way so that they receive not only benefit, but also pleasure from such lessons. At the same time, we apply an individual approach to each student and take into account his preparation, as well as the degree of development.

For everyone, we create a unique lesson plan that helps set your child up for learning. Our teachers will gladly pass on the necessary knowledge to the child.

Click here to learn more about online courses for children. And go to the page of offline courses for children.

Online and offline courses for schoolchildren in grades 5-11.

You can also enroll your student in courses in any required subject from grades 5 to 11. Training in courses at the Planetaclub training center is a group lesson for up to 6 people. Such classes help to master the school curriculum, as well as to study additional material if necessary.

The teachers of the educational center will help students from the fifth to the eleventh grade learn all the important topics, as well as fill knowledge gaps. We will prepare the student for all tests and tests in the chosen subject, as well as for passing exams. Online courses (as well as offline courses) in the educational center for schoolchildren include all the necessary list of subjects of the school curriculum, such as Ukrainian, mathematics, biology, chemistry, history, computer science, English, and so on. You can choose one or several subjects for study at once.

Check out online courses for high school students (live). and offline courses for schoolchildren in the city of Irpin.

Well, if you want to study in a training center for schoolchildren with teachers individually or in small groups of no more than 2 people, then classes with tutors are suitable for you (see below).

Tutors for school subjects online and offline

Our training center has tutors for all school subjects. Classes with tutors are rightfully considered the most effective, as they are individual and all the attention of the teacher is given to one student. If there are students with the same level of knowledge and if parents wish, we can combine two children into one mini-group. At the same time, the effectiveness of the lessons is not lost, and the cost of the lesson is noticeably reduced.

Teachers of the training center in an accessible form explain the material, interest and “ignite” the students. Thanks to this, children learn the necessary knowledge very quickly. Such results are achieved through an individual approach to each child. And these are not just words: at the first lesson, the teacher evaluates not only the level of knowledge of the subject, but also the way information is perceived. After all, there are students who perceive the material better by ear, there are those who are better off reading it themselves, and there are those who are better off presenting information visually. And then there are children with different temperaments and you also need to find an approach to them.

To find out more, visit the online tutors page. And on the page of tutors in Irpin.

How to enroll in our online training center?

To begin with, you need to decide what kind of classes and in what subjects you need. You can sign up for classes by calling the numbers listed in section Contacts . Our managers will tell you in detail about all the nuances of the educational process and answer all your questions.

You can also make an appointment directly on our website using the feedback form.

The site of the educational center contains reviews from our customers and answers to questions for parents who have not yet decided on a choice.

Education in our children’s educational center is a unique opportunity to gain knowledge for a child of any age in an easy and accessible way.

Educational center Planetaclub works only with the best and proven teachers. High quality teaching and exam preparation is guaranteed!

The Obama administration, without hiding this, is trying to “reset” its relations with Russia, which have been in recent years the Bush administration’s reigns have become somewhat non-working. Although Washington did not use the term “reset” in relation to the also troubled US relations with China, in essence, the goal is clearly the same. Defense Secretary Robert Gates has tried to restore dialogue between the armies of both countries, and this indicates the presence of such intentions. nine0003

Ted Galen Carpenter

The Obama administration is openly trying to “reset” its relationship with Russia, which has become somewhat dysfunctional in the last years of the Bush administration. Although Washington did not use the term “reset” in relation to the also troubled US relations with China, in essence, the goal is clearly the same. Defense Secretary Robert Gates has tried to restore dialogue between the armies of both countries, and this indicates the presence of such intentions. nine0003

Both goals, however, run into difficulties due to some extremely important factor. It seems that the authorities are not ready to accept the fact that any strong power in the international system will want and try to secure a sphere of influence in its immediate vicinity. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice is famous (perhaps infamously) for saying that the concept of a sphere of influence is archaic and harmful. But this is a dangerous delusion. US tensions with Russia and US tensions with China confirm this to be the case. nine0003

The last and rather clumsy provocation is how Moscow promised to help Venezuela with the construction of a nuclear power plant. It is not surprising that hawks in the United States began to loudly accuse Russia of treacherous violation of the Monroe Doctrine. Their outrage is not in the least hypocritical, as many of these same “hawks” have successfully sought NATO membership for the Baltic states, and are now advocating to deploy ballistic missile defense systems in Eastern Europe and offer NATO membership to Ukraine and Georgia. , as if Russia had no reasonable reason to object to such actions being taken in its geopolitical backyard. nine0003

It is said that a broken clock shows the correct time twice a day. So are the hawks — they are right about the Russian-Venezuelan deal. The United States is very much interested in ensuring that Latin America is free of nuclear technology and nuclear weapons. Moscow’s willingness to help Hugo Chavez acquire a nuclear capability, even if only for the peaceful purposes of generating electricity, is an unfriendly gesture already done in our geopolitical backyard.

Both sides must retract. Russia should gracefully emerge from its cozy relationship with Chavez, and the US should stop talking about deploying missile defense systems and NATO expansion to the east. Washington and Moscow must recognize that the concept of a sphere of influence is alive and well, and unjustified violations of it destroy any prospect of a “reset” in relations.

The US authorities must also understand that establishing cordial relations with China requires a willingness to admit that this rapidly rising East Asian power will try to establish a sphere of influence in its border area as well. Beijing’s large territorial claims in the South China Sea and the recent quarrel with Japan over small islands in this part of the ocean are signs that this process has begun. The growing strength and confidence of China means that the United States must handle such territorial disputes carefully, as well as the even more sensitive issue of Taiwan, otherwise Washington will not avoid unpleasant clashes with Beijing. nine0003

Condoleezza Rice was as wrong as can be. Whether we like it or not, spheres of influence will be a major factor in world politics, especially in relations between the superpowers, and in the twenty-first century too. It is imperative that the US authorities recognize this and adjust to reality.

The Indians, in turn, looked at Rene with curiosity. Until now they had only seen bearded white men, and Rene was the first white boy to walk this shore. The Indians thought that white people were born with a beard and short hair, but Rene had no beard, and his golden curls went down to his shoulders. That is why they looked at Rene as if they were some kind of curiosity. nine0003

The chief immediately took a liking to the boy and the old man gave him the nickname “Ta-la-lo-ko” (little palm tree). Apparently he mistook him for the son of Lodonier. Two years ago, he gave Lodonier the name “Ta-la” (palm tree). And since then, all the Indians with whom Rene met called him Ta-la-lo-ko.

The leader urged Lodonier to spend a few days in the village of Seloi, but he replied that he, Lodonier, was ordered to immediately sail to the river, which was called May, build a fort there and establish a colony.

After exchanging gifts, they said goodbye, and the whites went to the boats. Sailing away from the shore, Rene looked back several times and admired the picturesque village of Sela. I really wanted to live here, with these simple-hearted, hospitable people.

When the boats were crossing shallow water, Rene saw some monstrous fish splashing in the waves and swimming up to the very boats. The soldiers said they were dolphins, and Lodonier named the river they had just left the Dolphin River. nine0003

Unfolding their white wings-sails, the ships sailed north and covered forty miles in a night. At dawn, the mouth of the May River appeared. Guided by a map drawn by Admiral Ribot two years ago, Laudonière brought the ships into the mouth of the river, skillfully maneuvering between the reefs.

Although very little time has passed since they left the village, but the messengers from Seloy have already managed to notify Mikko, the leader of the Indians who inhabited the river valley, of their arrival. When Laudonniere and his companions came ashore, friendly Indians led them to the top of the hill, where Admiral Ribot erected a stone column on which he engraved the coat of arms of France. nine0003

Rene was very surprised to see that at the foot of the column there were baskets of maize and quivers full of arrows. These were the gifts with which the Indians met strangers.

Not far from the hill, Lodonier chose a place for a fort and ordered work to begin immediately. He named the fort Fort Carolina, in honor of the French king Charles IX. He hoped that over time a flourishing colony of French Huguenots would grow here.

When food and ammunition were unloaded ashore, three ships weighed anchor and left, leaving a handful of white people in the wild unexplored country. Lodonier was appointed head of the fort, and with him was Rene Devaux, who did not even suspect that he was destined to become a participant in many and amazing adventures. nine0003

II. BOW BEARER

The construction of Fort Carolina lasted about three months. The Indians, who did not sense future troubles, willingly helped build a stockade and dig a ditch around the fort. The palisade was made of tree trunks driven deep into the ground, and from the inside of it a mound rose, on which the soldiers dragged several large cannons.

During these three months, Rene Deveaux made friends with the son of an Indian chief, Mikko. He was the same age as Rene, and his name was Khas-se, which means Sunbeam. The boys met daily. Rene taught Hasse French, and he himself learned to speak Indian. nine0003

By order of Laudonier, Rene took lessons in fencing and crossbow shooting, and in the evenings the artist Le Moine, who was considered a well-read and educated person, taught him Latin and drawing. But Rene spent all his free time with his friend Hasse, who initiated him into the secrets of forest life.

Oddly enough, but Khas-se, a cheerful, good-natured boy, had a fierce enemy in the village. His name was Chitta – the Snake. He was a few years older than Hasse, and no one knew when and because of what enmity broke out between them. Perhaps the quarrelsome and envious Chitta disliked Hasse because everyone loved him. nine0003

One day Hasse suggested to Rene that they go canoeing on the river. The young Indian wanted to reveal some secret to his friend and was afraid that someone would overhear. Rene readily agreed. Taking his crossbow and two steel-tipped arrows, he sat down on the prow of the boat, while Khasse rowed with the stern oar. They went down the river, then turned into a narrow tributary, the banks of which were densely overgrown with tall palm trees. A boat glided across the dark water in deep shadow. Hasse lowered his oar and spoke in broken French, inserting Indian words. nine0003

Rene learned that on the next full moon the Indians celebrate the day of Ripe Maize. On this day, young men will participate in competitions, and the winner will receive the title of “bearer of the bow” of Mikko, the leader of the tribe and the father of Khas-se. This title was considered honorary among the Indians, and after a year the “bow carrier” became a full-fledged warrior. The youths prepared for competitions in archery, darting, running and wrestling.

Hasse really wanted to be the winner. Chitta was his most dangerous opponent. Hasse knew that he could compete with him in running, in shooting, in throwing a dart, but it was not an easy task to fight such a tall, broad-shouldered guy like Chitta. nine0003

– How can I beat him, Ta-la-lo-ko? Teach me,” Hasse asked.

– I will help you, Hasse! Rene exclaimed. “A week ago, Simon Gunsmith got a speck in his eye, and I managed to get it out. In gratitude for this, he showed me a new wrestling technique that I had never seen before. Since then, I have practiced wrestling daily and now I am completely sure that I can overcome anyone who does not know this technique, even if my opponent is stronger and taller than me. I’ll show you this technique if you promise to keep the secret. nine0003

– Oh, what is it?

As they talked, they did not notice that the canoe had drifted to the very shore, and a gigantic bough of a tree stretched over their heads, from which creepers hung.

Life in Compton as seen by eyewitnesses

Stories about life in Compton told by its residents: gangs, robberies, murders and police brutality.

In the spring everyone was talking about this dangerous place in Los Angeles when Kendrick Lamar’s album To Pimp A Butterfly came out. Now there is another weighty reason to discuss Compton. He hit the headlines again with the release of the N.W.A biopic. and its accompanying dedication album, the comeback album Compton by Dr. Dre. Many again became interested in the question, is life in this city really as dangerous as rappers have been telling us about it for many years now.

One of the Reddit users asked the same question and created a special thread where he asked Compton residents, eyewitnesses of the Los Angeles riots and just those who were born and raised in the city in the late 80s and early 90s to share their stories. The topic received hundreds of messages in a little less than a day, turning into one of the most discussed threads on the entire site. Today we publish ten exciting, disturbing and frightening stories that only confirm that all the rumors about Compton are true.

      Night stalker

I lived in Compton from 78 to 87. And that’s what I remember the most. Once, my mother and I were robbed for a bag of sugar that she had just bought at the convenience store. Another time I ran into Eazy-E at the Compton Indoor Swapmeet. He had his homies with him and he was wearing a cap that said “Compton”! Also, at least once a week, I was beaten and squeezed out pocket money in the men’s toilet of the school. George Washington.

Drive-by every night, and finally the last – during the activities of Richard “Night Stalker” Ramirez ( American serial killer,
operating in the period 1984–1985. – approx. RAP.RU
) my father was sleeping at the front door with a gun in his hands. Yes, wonderful
      memories!

      Father against the gang

I’m Mexican and I lived in Compton from 1986 to 2008. The film shows everything quite accurately, but this is only a small part of what was happening in Compton at that time. I lived on a street that was heavily controlled by the Bloods. And here is a little of what was on the surface:

      • I remember local lowriders shooting around corners and
shouted to us, little kids, to run home as soon as possible, because for
they are now being chased and shot by the opposing gang.
      • People were riding crossbikes and doing tricks, just like that
        shown in the film.
      • One member of the Bloods pinned me on my BMX when I was eight. My crazy dad came out and
********** [rudely scolded] one of the main members of the Bloods and returned the bike to me. He
said that we are from the same district, which means we are a family.
      • I also remember how once an ice cream truck
drove around the block and all the local gangsters jumped on him and stole everything
what was in it. They beat the crap out of the driver and completely wrecked the van.
in front of the neighborhood kids. Since then, the ice cream trucks have not stopped by for a long time.
        to us.
      • One day I found a loaded shotgun right on the side of the road next to
        home.
      • Once two policemen were killed in Compton, and the authorities were looking for
suspects and transport. And we did not suspect at all that the same car was near
weeks after the murder stood in front of our house. My brother and I ran flat tires
because they thought that this was a stolen car, which was simply left next to
        our home.
      • I was 11 when the LA riot started. I wanted to
go get yourself some cool shit, but my mom wouldn’t let me in (I
trying to play cool, ha). Meanwhile, the neighborhood boys
got some cool living room furniture and a bunch of other things.

Most of these things happened when I was a child. Today there is also a lot of garbage going on, but everything is far from being so bad. I grew up as a normal person and in my opinion this experience only made me stronger.

      Riot in LA

When people share their experiences about the events in LA, those stories always hit me.
For some, these uprisings did not mean anything, since they hardly came out of
at home. For some it was a chance to steal cool “free” stuff. My parents described it as the worst thing in the world.

At that time, they spoke little English, although they had already lived in America for several years. And so, just during the riots, my mother stopped at a red light (my 12-year-old brother was also in the car), when suddenly the crowd simply surrounded the car and tried to push it out, apparently to beat her and my brother (such then was all over the place). My mom remembers seeing familiar faces in the crowd, including people who were our fucking neighbors, we knew them by sight. As a result, she gave gas and miraculously got out of there. After this incident, she had a stress disorder, and for more than 20 years she has not driven.

      “Fuck it, yeah
      it’s a fucking white kid!”

Once I went to Crenshaw! And as soon as I got out of the car, the dude next to the liquor store yelled: “Fuck it, it’s a fucking white kid!”

I didn’t understand then what was so special about a white guy coming here. But then I went to the store, paid for the purchases, and already on the way back I suddenly realized that, yes, fucking, I’m like the only white one in all of Crenshaw.

      Everything that lies badly

I was 27 and lived between La Brea Park and 3rd Street. Once, during the riots, I saw a van pull up to an electronics store and the boys started loading stolen goods into it, while two others stood guard with machine guns. I have seen firefighters stop near burning stores, look at the huge fire, and then just drive away. This was all over the place.

How the cops left crime scenes

Obviously, the parents preferred Los Angeles to New York and other major cities, because at that time housing was cheaper here, and the weather was (and still is) excellent. Although not to say that I always looked forward to winter rains and an increase in the number of accidents.

Also, despite the fact that local emergency services still often prefer to sit back or avoid certain situations altogether, it used to be ubiquitous. Once one guy was shot, the cops drove up to him, but as soon as more shots rang out, they turned their car around, turned off the headlights and rushed off to hell. And that was just a couple of years ago, two blocks from a major supermarket. It’s not even a particularly dangerous area.

It seems to me that the police behave like this when it comes to gangs, though I would not say that during the riots I saw someone with machine guns or watched shootings in supermarkets with a large number of people. Nevertheless, the Internet is full of videos of shootouts between shopkeepers and looters.

      Horses, cartoons and Kalash

I have lived most of my life in Compton. I used to see a lot of horses on the streets, and one day I accidentally stumbled upon a local quarry. But when I was 17, I saw from the window a guy walking down the street and firing his AK-47. I immediately put my niece on the floor and focused her on watching cartoons. Compton can go from normal to completely insane in the blink of an eye. I lived near the airport, and in 2003 the area was divided between Latin and black gangs, so there was a lot of violence here.

      Polite gangsters

My father met Eazy-E when my mother was at Martin Luther King Jr. Hospital in 1992. I asked him what Compton was like at that time, and he said that it was about the same as now – murders, drug dealing and other crap. However, most of the time there was a sort of “peace” in Compton, provided you mind your own business and stay out of the streets. Then everything was decided by itself. I remember how
he said that blacks and Hispanics literally hated each other, but if
you didn’t do stupid things and didn’t climb on the rampage, everything was in order. In such cases, they are quite tolerant of each other. When on my father
attacked, the robbers said that if he gave them the watch and the chain, nothing
will happen. He did so and they just ran away. Here are the stories about the cops
the truth is, they used to be even bigger assholes.

      Big life in little Compton

I was born in Compton and lived there until I was 14. My parents decided to move when our house was robbed and a gun was pointed at me. I’ve always hated all those clichés about Compton, but that’s what it really was. Here are just a few of the little things that happened to me while living in this city:

      • I didn’t associate with any white people until high school.
      • The first pistol (apart from the one my father had) I
I saw it in the sixth grade when my friend came to school with him. It was crazy
because before that I had only seen knives.
      • I have been attacked many times. I was a Latino who lived
in the black area. Every person I know hated blacks. It took
many years to get rid of these prejudices.
      • There was a crack den in my neighbors’ house, and a couple of times the special forces stormed it.
      • When I was a child, a junkie got in and mine
father was not at home. My mom screamed and then the neighbor came with a gun and drove
        his.
      • My father had an upholstery business in his garage, and
his main clients were lowrider drug dealers.
      • Two people were killed on our doorstep for various reasons.
        person.
      • I had a best friend in elementary school, another in middle school
and finally one in the first year of high school. And the last one was just imprisoned
jail for robbery when he ran into two other friends,
with whom at that time I was no longer in contact. One of them is now
prison for shooting and another for murder. They huddled when they realized that
        know me.

Brain Blow : As a teenager, I played cricket (google “Compton cricket”), carried the Olympic flame, graduated from college and made a million. Also, I have never hit anyone in my life. I wasn’t exactly a nerd, but I had strict parents who wanted a better life for me. Once my father beat me in front of his friends for
that I wore wide trousers. I’ve been arrested five times for petty crimes (without
violence), so I’m still a little ignorant.

      Halloween-flavored police violence

I was born in Los Angeles in ’82 and lived here until 1993, when the riots started because of Rodney King. Then I moved to the east coast. In those days, I remember how vicious, violent and intimidating the police were, despite the fact that I myself did not live in Compton. I remember sitting in the back seat when my dad got pulled over for speeding. They intimidated him so that he could not even get a word in. After that, he told me: “Never give them a reason.”

I remember when I was 10, my older brother and I would hang out at the local pizzeria and play the newly released Street Fighter II Champion Edition. We were still with
a few classmates, and so it got a little noisy inside. Then the owner called the cops, and when one classmate tried to fight back, one of them grabbed
behind his neck and hit the asphalt outside, breaking his lip.

Regardless of what your early ’20s held, you’d better buckle your seatbelts for a new era of partying: the two-year-old birthday party. These revelers are looking for hands-on fun, and they’re leaving it all on the dance floor. Keep reading as we dive deep into the best way to throw (and manage) an epic two-year-old bash.

How Long Should It Last?

Since these kids bring the intensity, a two-year-old birthday party should be short and sweet. An hour and a half of activity, rounded out by cake, and you’re set.

Real Mom Advice: Two-year-olds have trouble with transitions, so be sure to motivate them to move through the party without tears by building up to better and better experiences. Start slow, add some excitement, corral them with cake and send them out the door with an exciting-looking party favor.

What Time of Day Works Best?

You’re still squarely in the world of nappers at this stage, so pick a time when your birthday toddler is at their best. Do they get grumpy after a nap? Plan the party for the morning. Will it ruin their day to miss a favorite cartoon in the morning? Plan it for the afternoon. Whatever you decide, make the timing work for your guest of honor.

Real Mom Advice: You’ll always have reasons to structure your day around someone else’s convenience. Grandparents who like to sleep late, sibling soccer games and college sports schedules come to mind. But do yourself a solid and plan the party to maximize your child’s enjoyment. It’ll be better for everyone in the long run.

Where Should I Have It?

While everyone has their comfort level with who, where and how you interact with those outside your regular footprint, a two-year-old birthday party is incredibly well-suited to pandemic gatherings. They’re small, they work best outside and they’re short. Win, win, win.

Real Mom Advice: Playgrounds and backyards—or neighborhood coves, if you have them—make excellent party spots for your budding two-year-old. Think of it as a field day. You’ll be setting up stations, so you need space, but you’ll want to create a “hive” of activity in one central location.

Do I Need a Theme?

Whether it’s a toga party in college or a Paw Patrol affair for your birthday kid, themes can be solid party boosters. And since two-year-olds love playing dress up, wearing their finest theme gear can add a lot of excitement to the soiree. But if you don’t have time to take things to the next level, don’t sweat it. At this point, a theme is extra.

Real Mom Advice: Not naming names, but we know someone who had a football-themed second birthday party because it was November and the parents’ favorite team was playing. Bad. Idea. Luckily, I… I mean, the mom, remembered she had a bubble machine and saved a spiraling party that was not focused on the birthday kid.

What Do We Do?

If you’re going the outdoor route, nothing beats sensory tables for a two-year-old party. Kinetic sand, real sand, flour tables (add water and spoons and you can turn it into a dough table) and shaving cream can get the party started. For a craft, homemade drum sets with balloons and rubber bands over an empty can and make-your-own sensory Ziploc bags work well. For a more active group, playing simple games like “the floor is lava” or trying to keep the balloon off the ground is a solid choice.

Real Mom Advice: If you’re going with a theme, you can tie it in to each station, even if it means printing out a matching sign and taping it to the table. And don’t forget the bubbles. A bubble machine will rock your world.

Do I Make a Cake?

Does a fish need a bicycle? Of course not, but it’s really cool! Cakes, cupcakes, cake pops…. it’s a birthday, y’all! If you’re a baker, there’s no group more forgiving of a baking flop than a bunch of two-year-olds. Of course, purchasing is always a sweet option, and you get the best portion control—and less of a sugar high—with cake pops.

Real Mom Advice: Save the treat for the end of the party for maximum enjoyment. Also, if you’re looking to go the route of gluten-free, sugar-free or any other free, give your bakery a call at least a week out so you’re not scrambling to make something work at the last minute.

What Do I Feed People?

Two-year-olds ‘ birthday parties are generally not drop-off parties, which means you’re going to also be hosting a handful of adults. Don’t go overboard on catering to the adults, but it’s a nice gesture to fill a cooler with more adult-type beverages—sparkling waters, sodas, or beer and wine, if you’re inclined—just to keep everyone hydrated. For the kids, set out bowls (or individual baggies) of their favorite fruit, veggie or salty snacks and juice boxes or individual bottles of water. Steer clear of candy and sweets on the snack table, as you’ll be loading them up when it’s time to blow out the candles.

Real Mom Advice: At two, many kids with peanut allergies don’t even realize they have them yet. Play it safe and stay away from anything that might reveal a food allergy.

What About Favors?

Yes, favors for the win. Don’t go overboard, but a festive-looking package at the exit gate will guarantee an easy send-off.

Real Mom Advice: Slap bracelets, bouncy balls, bubbles and sticker books are always winners. If you want to step it up a notch, personalized sippy cups are cute. At this stage, it’s less about what’s in the package than it is about how fun the package looks to the kids when you’re passing them out. And for heaven’s sake, skip anything that’s a noisemaker like a whistle, PLEASE.

How Do I Make It Stop?

Cue the exit music, start a conga line and head toward the party favor station (and the awaiting minivans).

Real Mom Advice: Putting an end time on the invitation may seem weird, but it’ll make sure everyone is on the same page, and it will save you from the awkward goodbye.

What About the After-Party?

Don’t give in to the urge to have a private family party immediately after the party with guests ends. Shut. It. Down. Make time for maybe a book or possibly a cartoon, then nap time—if that works with your timing. You and your two-year-old are going to need to chillax. Save the after-party for after your next sleep block.

Birthday: style 150 ideas | Holiday again!

Many people of all ages at some point come up with the idea of celebrating their birthday in the style of their favorite movie, the traditions of a distant country or a historical era.

It’s nice and easy to get together with friends, but in the era of social networks, a series of photos from a themed holiday collects much more likes and comments, and this is not only nice, but sometimes necessary to develop a personal account for commercial purposes.

How can you reflect the chosen theme of the holiday:

Below I will remind you about 150 themes for parties , to begin with, let us clarify by what means the thematic holiday is usually emphasized:

the most obvious. The most effective. What they do on a different scale is absolutely everyone who came up with the idea to celebrate a birthday in some style. Of course, it is best to invite a decorator who has been studying design styles for many years, knows where and what to buy, make to order, etc. Will bring, hang, dismantle after the holiday. The services of such specialists are quite expensive, so most people use ready-made solutions for images from Pinterest.

This is an incredibly large collection of ideas, and many projects are easy enough to replicate, as the supplies are sold in online holiday supply stores. nine0003

Some elements (banner stands, arches, fabrics, growth flowers, huge letters and numbers, polygonal figures, etc.) can be rented in almost every city in Russia. Everything else is ordered on Chinese sites (this is if you have a lot of time before the holiday and a small budget).

For example, a black and white or chess party can be decorated with a few black and white balls, and for some this is enough to set the mood. For others, a themed holiday in this style will be represented by a pompous photo zone with huge chess pieces, with “living statues” in the form of a queen and a horse, checkered tablecloths on every table, dishes with a chess pattern, a candy bar with figured sweets in black and white and etc. nine0003

• Suits and accessories for guests

There are two options. In invitations for a birthday or anniversary, you indicate the desired dress code for your party, i. e. each guest himself collects his own, for example, a pirate image. In this case, the guests look impressive, as each of them will think over the main elements of the costume, accessories, hair and makeup in advance.

If the theme of the holiday is a surprise for the guests, the organizer of the holiday needs to launch costumes and accessories. In this case, not all guests decide to dress up, as cowboy hats or a pioneer tie do not go well with a gold maxi dress with a deep neckline. nine0003

• Music Compositions

An experienced DJ has music selections in different styles. If your thematic holiday is new for him, he will quickly select high-quality recordings and create a cool playlist to accompany all stages of the event.

If you organize your holiday yourself, use the recommendations in professional groups of DJs (Vkontakte has many ready-made free collections, for example).

For a party based on musical style (Disco 80s, Dashing 90-e”, “Dandies”, “Jazz”, “Back to the USSR”, chanson, cabaret, etc. ) there are excellent selections in Yandex.Music, on YouTube, in collections of music tracks.

You will only have to note which compositions are more suitable for background sound during free communication and toasts, and which ones you can also dance to.

• Entertainment program

I already wrote an article about the formats and topics of events, everything is detailed there. The bottom line is that almost any format of the holiday can be tied to any theme. nine0003

For example, the Back to the Future party. It can be a quest with a cascade of puzzles and the goal to return to your year, a creative or sports team game, culinary team building with recipes from the past and the future, a brain ring with questions from different historical eras, master classes with souvenirs from 2050, a show program with numbers from the 50s of the last century and retro contests.

Even if you have a very small holiday organized on your own, you can choose entertainment for a fun themed program and not be limited only to decoration. nine0003

• Main menu

There are holidays where the menu is the main decoration. In this case, the emphasis is on thematic dishes, and everything else is secondary. For example, the now popular healthy lifestyle. In addition to the sports component, bodybuilding shows, bike races, marathons and other activities, guests can be offered a menu that is useful in all respects. In this style, a birthday is rarely celebrated, but I met a couple of times)).

In nature, you can have a primitive party with meat on a fire. The themed cafes will offer French cuisine for the “See Paris” theme, and the Japanese restaurant can host “Intellectual Sumo” and taste traditional dishes. A pirate party is great in establishments where seafood is on the menu. nine0003

Organize a home party with Russian-style pancakes and pies, prepare small spectacular appetizers for a Hollywood party, set the Soviet table for your own Irony of Fate.

• Sweet table (candy bar)

Some organizers consider the candy bar to be a decoration, most consider it a treat. On small holidays, a sweet table beautifully decorated with bright decor elements is often the only thematic accent.

Let me remind you. The theme can be supported by sweets themselves (cupcakes with bats and a cake in the form of a pumpkin with eyes for Halloween) plus themed decorative elements in the style of this holiday made of paper (flags, pompoms, origami, polygonal shapes), wood (photo frames, figurines, letters, hashtags ), metal (candlesticks, figurines, stands for sweets, tablets), glass and porcelain (candy bowls, dishes), compositions from living plants or natural materials. nine0003

On Pinterest, you can find thousands of examples on any subject under the tag “candy bar”.

Cakes in different styles are the most obvious support for the chosen theme of the party. The creativity of the masters is amazing, the cost per kilogram of happiness in each city is different.

• Win-win lotteries, prizes for participating in competitions

Everyone loves gifts, and it does not depend on age. You can pick up pleasant or useful souvenirs for almost any topic and arrange a gambling raffle. For example, at a denim party, I got a denim cosmetic bag. nine0003

Thematic cafe (restaurant)

Most anniversaries choose a place where the interior, menu, music and appearance of the waiters immediately correspond to the chosen theme to celebrate a thematic birthday. Every city has something “French”, “from a Russian fairy tale”, “Caucasian”, “Japanese”, etc. And also all sorts of hunting lodges, grottoes, caves, halls “in the clouds” on the 59th floor, etc.

Sometimes the venue inspires a themed party, all you have to do is dress up a little and think of entertainment for the guests. nine0005

Birthday style…

I’ve collected a few examples in each category, if I missed something interesting, please add it in the comments for our common use :-).

Holiday theme based on books, films, cartoons, computer games

What is the charm of such themes? Scriptwriters, directors, costume designers and actors have already made sure that each of your guests has a good idea of what it is better to dress up in and how to transform at such an event. nine0003

Often, only the name is taken for the holiday, without reference to the plot of the film (for example, the theme “Angels and Demons” can only suggest a comic division of guests into angels and evil spirits, and “Avatar” – appear in the meaning of the image of a guest from social networks, without reference to the bluish heroes of a science fiction film).

I remembered some films, cartoons and series for which you can create an entourage, pick up accessories and think over an entertainment program. Complement!

Conditionally divided into “adults” and “children’s”, because many family holidays often successfully “twist” children’s topics. Naturally, it is easier for children to buy ready-made jewelry. There is everything for some “Minions” – balls, flags, cardboard dishes, caps, tablecloths, inflatable foil figures, souvenir prizes, board games, etc. nine0003

You can insert contests into the party script (remake the most successful ones according to your theme), master classes, comic prepared numbers, a disco, drawing of thematic prizes, etc. And the guests prepare their birthday greetings in the style of Agents 007, send greetings from Jack Sparrow or Sherlock.

Party style taking into account hobbies and hobbies

Here I combined topics that did not want to be combined anywhere else. There are such parties, maybe you will celebrate your birthday in the style of “Casino”?

  • Checkmate (for lovers of chess, backgammon, other intellectual games)
  • Invisible Man (esotericism, divination, predictions, stones, horoscopes, names, numerology)
  • Casino (institution style, board games, music)
  • Football (not the competition itself, but a game lovers’ party)
  • Mysteries of mankind (you can weave everything mysterious, from the Egyptian pyramids to UFOs)

  • Aqua party in the pool (beach)
  • Pajama Party
  • Bath day (girls arrange a SPA-salon or Beauty Day)
  • Hand Made Party
  • Miscellaneous collectibles
  • Tik tok party (Insta party)

Wildlife

In this case, we are talking about decoration, since you can choose any entertainment program. Why choose plants and animals for party style? It’s not always the same. For example, my maiden name is Krotova. Did I have a mole party? There was, of course. Remember the character from the old Czech cartoon? And then there are the Zaitsevs, the Romashovs, the Tsvetkovs, the Medvedevs, the Polyanskys, and so on. nine0003

Someone’s name is translated from a foreign language like this: Larisa – Seagull, Marina – sea, etc.

There are simply lovers of roses, tulips, owls, pugs. Or maybe you just liked the picture from the Internet, in which everything is decorated “like a watermelon”.

I will list a few topics for inspiration:

  • Plants: daisies, roses, bamboo, sunflowers, etc.
  • Insects: butterflies, ladybugs, dragonflies
  • Animals: hares, owls, kittens, pandas…
  • Fruits, berries: avocado (for some reason, there are many ready-made decorations with it on sale), watermelon, strawberries (another “berry again”) …
  • Seasons
  • Desert Island (Robinsonade very popular in the summertime)
  • Ice Party
  • The jungle is called
  • Ecological quest
  • Sea, sky, underwater world, space

Historical theme

To be honest, it’s difficult and expensive (the cost of renting historical costumes from the era of Catherine II starts from 4,000 rubles per day), dressing up and decorating the hall in accordance with all the rules. But you can take some elements and “dive” into the topic with the power of your imagination. nine0003

Here are some examples:

  • Primal Party
  • Ancient Egypt (I have a script for a girl’s birthday about an Egyptian princess)
  • Robin Hood
  • Age of Discovery
  • 1812
  • Indians and cowboys, Wild West
  • Hipsters
  • Pioneer
  • Back to the USSR (Gaidai’s comedies are well intertwined here)
  • Dashing 90s
  • Military (you can arrange a meeting of warriors from different eras)

Musical styles at the heart of a theme party

In this case, it is very easy to pick up musical material, sometimes accessories and decorative elements. For example, a party in the style of the 80s – bright costumes, bouffant and killer makeup, decorating the hall with records, cassettes and multi-colored spotlights, a cool music program.

Here are some examples:

  • Blues
  • Jazz
  • Rock and roll
  • Disco 80s and 90s
  • nine0099 Rap

  • Chanson, romance, art song
  • Pop music
  • Hip Hop
  • Folk, country, folk music

Based on TV shows

We have several thematic programs based on well-known TV shows (detailed description is on the links). Customers often choose this format for private and corporate events, as they understand the essence of what is happening well in advance and know the rules of the game.

  • Apartment (even if not at Margulis, but at your place)
  • The Last Hero
  • Minute of fame
  • Smarties and smarties
  • Bluebird
  • Moscow evenings
  • Director himself
  • Big Game
  • Ghostbusters
  • Call of the Jungle
  • From the mouth of a baby
  • Good jokes
  • Brain Ring

By colors and textures

There are many examples on the Internet of decorating themed holidays that are associated with some colors and textures. Often it is very easy to repeat (declare a red, white, black and white dress code), let me remind you of a few common options. The entertainment part can also be associated with coffee, newspapers and jeans (by the way, a jeans party is quite popular at holidays for teenagers). nine0003

  • Red, gold, white (snow), black and white parties, etc.
  • Denim, wool party
  • Rainbow
  • Fire and Ice
  • Coffee
  • Chalk (and chalk surfaces)
  • Newspapers (glossy magazines)

  • Wood (as material)
  • Gems
  • Colored glass
  • Mosaic
  • Paper (cardboard) party
  • Chocolate, caramel, ice cream

Inside Scoop of the Apple Interview Process

Being one of the world’s most prestigious and prominent tech companies, it should be no surprise that the Apple interview process is long, rigorous, and challenging.

Candidates will face several rounds of interviews, assessments, and personal evaluations.

Truth be told, only a mere 0.5% of applicants make it to the hiring stage. And, if you’re going into the Apple interview process blind, your chances are even slimmer.

How to Get An Apple Referral

Getting ready for an Apple interview? Learn how to source a referral at Apple to increase your chances of getting an interview or job. This information was compiled from existing and former Apple employees.

ExponentAnthony Pellegrino

Part of the problem is that Apple is infamously secretive and cagey.

Unlike other Big Tech companies, Apple doesn’t spend time guiding potential candidates through its interview formats. Nor does it share its desired hiring traits and won’t make its recruiters available to you.

As such, Apple has developed a reputation for being the most difficult Silicon Valley firm to interview with.

So, we developed this guide to help make this process a little easier for you.

Check out our role specific Apple interview guides below:

  • Apple Software Engineer Interview Guide
  • Apple Product Manager Interview Guide

The Apple Interview Process

Initial Phone Call(s)

The Apple interview begins with an initial phone interview or two.

Your first phone interview will be with a recruiter at the company. After that, the recruiter may schedule you for another call with an Apple team lead or hiring manager.

These calls will likely only take 15 to 30 minutes.

You can stay in contact with the recruiter throughout the entire process. It’s perfectly okay to reach out to them with questions.

These initial phone screenings are meant to confirm your basic information and ensure that you’d be a good fit for the position you’re applying for before going further.

This stage of the Apple interview process is similar to that of other companies. You can expect to review your resume and background information, explain why you want to work at Apple, and answer a few behavioral interview questions. While these phone calls will not be technical, they are still critical. Therefore, treat them as valuable opportunities to make a solid first impression.

Technical Facetime Interviews

Abstract by Maria Shukshina

If you pass the initial phone screens, you’ll need to complete a technical phone screen with Apple hiring managers.

The number of technical interviews expected of you may vary depending on the position. However, most candidates need to complete five or so.

The first technical interview will be scheduled around a week after the initial recruiter phone calls. Subsequent technical interviews will be scheduled for 1 to 3 days after the previous interview.

Apple runs these interviews via FaceTime. The first interview may include some resume questions but the rest focus on behavioral and technical questions.

You should be prepared to answer a coding question on data structures and algorithms during this stage of the Apple interview process. This assessment will be done with a shared editor tool like Codility.

The behavioral questions can get pretty personal and introspective. You’ll need to dig deep to give an Apple hiring manager a worthy answer that’ll impress (We’ll cover answering behavioral interview questions in more detail later in this guide).

These interviews are done one-on-one and typically last for 30 minutes.

Position Assessment

Abstract by Oleg Shcherba

The next stage of the Apple interview process is the Position Assessment portion.

Once you’ve completed all your technical interviews, you’ll need to complete some form of an assessment.

Some candidates are given exercises to complete at home.

However, most applicants, especially new graduates and corporate hires, are asked to go into an Apple Assessment Center. (Apple hasn’t entirely virtualized its in-person assessment portions.)

Once there, you’ll need to complete written, group, or roleplaying exercises.

  • Apple’s Written Exercise: These exercises are often a previously unseen case study. Apple will give you a candidate brief with the question and a prompt.
  • Apple’s Group Exercise: These exercises ask you to work together in a team to solve problems related to your intended job. This exercise will assess your problem-solving, creative-thinking, and role-specific skills, along with your collaborative abilities and capacity to work well with others. Apple employees will be directly observing candidates during these exercises.
  • Apple’s Roleplay Exercise: These exercises involve Apple’s retail employees roleplaying various customer scenarios.

Depending on the position you’re applying for, you may not need to complete a written or group exercise.

Some applicants are only asked to do the written exercise at the Apple Assessment Center. Nevertheless, you should still prepare for each of them if you get called in for a Position Assessment.

As you may know, many tech company interview processes don’t include something like this.

These Assessments are just one of the reasons why the Apple interview process can be so challenging to get through.

However, they do allow you to mingle with Apple employees and other candidates.

On-site Interview Loop

Abstract by Oleg Shcherba

Making it to Apple’s on-site interview loop is a massive accomplishment. But unfortunately, you usually enter this stage of the Apple interview process two weeks after position assessments are done.

Each interview takes roughly 45 minutes to 1 hour. Therefore, it can take 5 to 6 hours to make it through the on-site interview loop.

During these interview rounds, you will meet at least 8 to 12 people, sometimes over 15.

These interviews will cover behavioral interview questions, domain knowledge, and coding tests. If you are a more experienced applicant applying for a higher-level position, you will also be asked questions on system design.

Apple’s on-site interviews are done one-on-one or with two interviewers. Many candidates find that the rounds with two interviewers are some of the most demanding.

The interviewers may take turns grilling you, pose questions differently, and find new ways to challenge you.

The traditional on-site interviewing process includes meeting with prospective team members over lunch. This lunch interview will cover technical and domain knowledge.

How Long Does the Apple Interview Process Take?

Abstract by Oleg Shcherba

With all these different rounds and meetings, you’re probably wondering how long the entire Apple interview process takes.

Well, it’ll take candidates anywhere from 1 to 4 months to complete the entire Apple interview process.

Unlike other companies such as Microsoft or Meta, Apple isn’t as consistent in its processes. So, there’s no way to tell you how long it will take.

Types of Apple Interview Questions

Abstract by Oleg Shcherba

As we mentioned, the Apple interview rounds will cover several types of interview questions. The most common apple interview questions focus on:

  • Technical Knowledge,
  • Behavioral Questions,
  • Domain Knowledge,
  • Coding,
  • System Design.

Domain Knowledge

During the interview process, Apple hopes to place particular candidates with specific teams. Therefore, you need in-depth knowledge of this team and the Apple products or services it builds if you want to be successful in your Apple interview.

You’ll have to do more than recite technical knowledge. Apple wants to see high-level thinking and creative input with practical applications from its candidates.

You should know what the team is working on and what problems or challenges they might be up against. Also, think of the team and its work in the larger context of the economy and customer base.

Behavioral Questions

Like most tech companies today, Apple will ask its candidate’s several behavioral interview questions throughout the process to assess many behavior-related professional skills.

Specifically, if you’re hoping to ace the Apple interview, you’ll need to demonstrate that you’re collaborative, creative, and adaptable and grasp all the required social and soft skills.

Even so, the cultural fit you demonstrate is one of the most critical parts of answering Apple’s behavioral interview questions.

As you likely already know, Apple is a culture and brand-heavy tech company. This quality is how Apple ultimately made its mark and distinguished itself from firms like IBM and Microsoft.

So, brand and culture fit is still a huge priority during an interview at Apple. You have to prove that you fit in and belong there if you want to receive a job offer in the end.

The most successful candidates will demonstrate that they understand what Apple’s about, care about the company, feel deeply passionate about it, and have a sense of loyalty to the brand.

You need to know the company, products, services, and customers inside and out. Then, you need to make valuable contributions with creative ideas and intelligent suggestions.

Why Apple?” is a classic behavioral question that almost everyone gets. It’s simple and might be a little overplayed, but don’t brush it off, don’t take it lightly, and don’t give a cheesy answer.

Apple takes itself seriously, and so should you. Show that you’re already a member of the cult.

Technical Knowledge (Coding and System Design)

The technical questions in Apple’s interview process are focused on coding. However, some candidates, especially higher-level ones, are also asked system design questions.

The coding questions cover the standard data structures, algorithms, and math. For example, Apple is known for asking about:

  • Data structures: Arrays, Linked Lists, Stacks, Queues, Trees, Graphs, Heaps, Hash sets, Hash maps
  • Algorithms: Depth-first search, Breadth-first search, Binary search, Quicksort, Merge sort, Dynamic programming, Divide and conquer

You may be asked to:

  • Determine the sum of three integers,
  • Merge overlapping integers,
  • Clone a directed graph,
  • Add two integers,
  • Merge two sorted linked lists,
  • Determine if two binary trees are identical,
  • Mirror binary tree nodes,
  • Find all palindrome substrings,
  • Reverse words in a given string,
  • Write an algorithm to find the largest sum subarray,
  • Complete power of a number calculations,
  • Find all sum combinations,
  • Search in rotated array,
  • Implement an LRU cache.

That should be easy for you, right?

The system design questions asked during Apple interviews will vary depending on your experience level and the position you’re applying for.

Be prepared to answer system design questions about:

  • Operating large systems,
  • Failure detection and resilience,
  • Reliability, scalability, maintainability,
  • Data models and query languages,
  • Storage and retrieval,
  • Replication and partitioning,
  • Faults and reliability,
  • Consistency and consensus

Apple reportedly spends the most time on linked lists, arrays, string, and system design topics of all the technical questions.

How to Prepare for the Apple Interview

Abstract by Maria Shukshina

Identify Your Team and Develop Domain Knowledge

Before you go into your Apple interviews, you should already be familiar with the team you’re applying to and where it fits into the Apple organization.

Let’s say you have a penchant for productivity tools and want to join the team that works on Pages. Start by looking through Apple’s general team categories:

  • Software and Services
  • Machine Learning and AI
  • Hardware
  • Design
  • Operations and Supply Chain
  • Marketing
  • Corporate Functions
  • Sales and Business Development
  • Apple Retail
  • Support and Service

Find the category you’re in and look for the right spot. The Software and Services team includes:

  • Apps and Framework
  • Cloud and Infrastructure
  • Core Operating Systems
  • DevOps and Site Reliability
  • Engineering Project Management
  • Information Systems and Technology
  • Machine Learning and AI
  • Security and Privacy
  • Software Quality, Automation, and Tools
  • Wireless Software

Once here, you can see that the team working on productivity applications concentrates purely on Apple applications and frameworks for third-party developers.

This team’s tech skills include application development, API design, user interface design, networking, application protocols, framework development, and performance engineering.

Your domain includes every Apple app and framework, along with the core skills used by the cross-functional team. In addition, it extends to the third-party app ecosystem, independent developers, consumers, and the marketplace.

There’s a lot to cover. You should always know where your role fits into the Apple ecosystem and stay abreast of current news.

Choose Your Coding Language

Apple lets you interview in the coding language of your choice. So it’s a great idea to go in ready to code in the one listed explicitly in the job listing or one that’s most in-demand.

According to Apple job listings, the most popular programming languages are:

  • Python
  • C++
  • Java
  • Objective-C
  • Swift
  • Perl
  • JavaScript

Python is by far the most popular language. So it should always be a safe choice.

Drill Your Coding Problems

Practice, practice, practice. That’s the only way you can reliably ace the Apple interview rounds.

You want to have a solid mental library waiting to pull from.

You already know how to do this.

So, find a good source for practice coding topics and questions, then fall back into the study routine that got you the tech skills in the first place.

Learn Behavior Question Response Frameworks

The Apple’s interview process confronts you with open-ended, vague, and esoteric interview questions. Even so, you will have to respond to them quickly with genuine and meaningful answers.

Your responses must be conversational and sincere while remaining clear, concise, and coherent.

You need to prepare for this.

But you can’t get ready by analyzing prompts, memorizing a cheat sheet, or reciting a few catchphrases (or you really shouldn’t, anyway).

The most effective way to ensure your answers are genuine and meaningful while remaining concise and coherent is by using a structured interview question framework.

When it comes to behavioral interview questions, there are two great choices:

STAR (Situation Task Action Result) or PAR (Problem Action Result).

The STAR method is highly recommended by hiring managers. PAR is similar but condensed and a little more straightforward.

So if you’re a little overwhelmed by everything else you have to learn, focus on PAR.

STAR:

  • Situation: tell the interviewer about a particular situation, challenge, or experience, including relevant contextual information. Use this to start giving the answer some deeper meaning.
  • Task: describe the task or responsibilities you had.
  • Action: describe your actions and how you completed the task or met the challenge. Use concrete terms and frame the action around you as the hero and main character – not a team or anyone else.
  • Result: describe and showcase the outcomes and results generated by your actions. What did you learn and accomplish?

PAR:

  • Problem: describe a problem or challenging situation. You can include the possible negative consequences to make it more imposing.
  • Action: tell what steps you took to resolve the situation or accomplish something.
  • Result: describe the outcome of your actions and their impact or transformation.

Which one do you think will work best for you?

The streamlined PAR method can help prevent you from rushing through answers.

But the STAR method is excellent if you prefer to break every response down into discrete sections.

Try them both. You’ll still need to practice to become familiar enough so that responding through this framework becomes second nature.

You can do that via mock interviewing.

Mock Interview

Interviewing is a learnable skill.

Just because the Apple hiring process is incredibly challenging doesn’t mean you can’t improve your chances through rehearsing and practicing.

That’s what mock interviewing is for!

Mock interviews help you pull everything together and learn how to ace your interviews by simulating a real interviewing experience.

The best mock interviews are done with the company’s former hiring managers, a professional career counselor, or trained peers that you feel comfortable with.

This is what it takes to get you into a firm like Apple.

Everyone who gets brought into the Apple hiring process is incredibly qualified. Your tech skills will likely be at par with everyone else’s.

The make or break will come from how well you perform in the numerous interview rounds.

Don’t wing it. Train for it.

Top Apple Interview Questions You Need to Prepare

Apple is the world’s largest tech company by market cap. A major driver of Apple’s success is its carefully assembled team of world-class engineering talent. Apple interview questions are specially designed to find and hire only the best software engineers. This is why Apple’s technical interviews are considered the hardest and the most unique among all FAANG interviews.

Infamous for its secrecy, Apple keeps its hiring and interviewing process under tight wraps, making it hard to know what type of Apple interview questions to expect at an Apple technical interview. Employees are dissuaded from revealing details about the interview process, even under total anonymity on popular review portals. This allows Apple to assess candidates on the basis of their actual skills and knowledge as opposed to candidates who try to game the interview process by preparing only on expected Apple interview questions.

If you are preparing for a tech interview, check out our technical interview checklist, interview questions page, and salary negotiation e-book to get interview-ready!

Having trained over 13,500 software engineers, we know what it takes to crack the toughest tech interviews. Our alums consistently land offers from FAANG+ companies. The highest ever offer received by an IK alum is a whopping $1.267 Million!

At IK, you get the unique opportunity to learn from expert instructors who are hiring managers and tech leads at Google, Facebook, Apple, and other top Silicon Valley tech companies.

What Is the Apple Interview Process Like?

Before we look at apple interview questions, let’s first understand the Apple interview process. You can expect up to 9-12 rounds of interviews before bagging an offer. Here’s a breakdown of the Apple interview process:

Phone Screen

There can be up to 2 phone screen rounds. It will be a 30-minute informal conversation with a recruiter, who will assess your interest in Apple and the role and how well you will fit in the team. The first call will be with an internal recruiter, but the second call might be with a team lead since all the openings at Apple are team-specific. You will be asked questions about your academic qualifications, professional achievements, and past projects.

FaceTime interview

This is a unique round that takes place in an Apple interview process. There can be up to 5 FaceTime interviews. These will be one-on-one interviews, which last roughly 30 minutes each. In this round, you will be asked Apple interview questions to assess your technical as well as behavioral skills. Few of these questions will require a lot of introspection.

Technical Assessment

The technical phone screen will be with a hiring manager or a team lead from the team you will be joining. In this interview, you will be judged on your resume and a few questions around data structure and algorithms. You will have to use a tool called Codility, a shared editor, to solve the coding questions. These take 45-60 minutes, and you will have 30 minutes to code.

On-site Interview

After the two phone screens, you will face the on-site or virtual on-site interview. The invitation for this interview might take up to 2 weeks. Here, you will be judged on your domain knowledge and other skills like passion and patience. It can last up to 6 hours, where around 8-12 people will interview you. In some cases, the number also might go up to 15. The on-site interviews will be a combination of Apple interview questions on behavioral skills, domain knowledge, and coding.

These interviews will last up to 45-60 minutes each. You can also have two people interviewing you at the same time. So, be prepared to be cross-questioned by the second interviewer while you are still writing the code. They might also bomb you with many Apple interview questions like a rapid-fire round to judge your patience and focus. Stay calm and understand the question well before answering.

Most Common Apple Interview Questions

Below are three of the most commonly asked Apple interview questions that you should prepare and suggested ways to answer these questions.

1. Explain your favorite Apple product or device.

Objective: To uncover your knowledge of Apple’s products and devices.

In answering this Apple interview question, mention different Apple products that you use or like but zero in on a product that you like the most. Elaborate on its key features, the technology used, and product benefits. Also, mention advantages over similar competing products and what makes it such a big draw in innovation, functionality, or design.

Try to draw a connection between your interest in Apple products and your own tech skills. Highlight how you can contribute to developing products at Apple.

2. How would you resolve a disagreement with your manager about a key decision?

Objective: To uncover key behavioral skills — conflict resolution, teamwork, communication.

To answer this Apple interview question, draw on a similar situation that you faced in your past roles or describe a situation where a decision can be approached from multiple perspectives. Highlight conflict resolution skills by explaining an understanding of your manager’s stance and how you communicated an alternative data-backed approach that would result in greater benefits and help achieve goals more effectively.

3. How would you recover from a situation of total failure?

Objective: To uncover key personality traits — resilience, integrity.

To answer this Apple interview question, describe a situation in which you could not fulfill expectations. Showcase self-awareness by explaining the reasons for your lapse. Explain activities you undertook to rectify the situation and how you worked at improving yourself to attain the required levels of competence. Highlight how you converted failure into a learning opportunity to achieve a positive outcome.

How to Crack the Apple Interview?

Apple is a dream company for many tech aspirants throughout the world. That dream can only be achieved by nailing their hardest ever interviews. You could prepare answers to all the Apple interview questions covered here and more but still may not be able to make it. This is because, more than the answer to the question, Apple looks at how you answer. One of the core principles of Apple is to hire attitude and train for skills

Here are some tips you can use to answer the Apple interview questions and get your dream job:

  • Check the job description thoroughly: Hoards of candidates apply for new roles at Apple. You will have to stand out from the crowd. For every role, there are specific interview questions. Apple does not hire centrally; they hire for team-specific roles. So review your job description well, and watch out for the must-have skills and traits for the job. If some skills are repetitive in the JD, then it is clear that those are extremely important.
  • Learn about Apple’s values: Learn about Apple’s core values and mission. You can check Apple’s website for this information. You can also read Steve Job’s vision for the company over the internet. Also, go through Tim Cook’s ideas, which will give you a more recent and modern take on the core values.
  • Learn about Apple’s products: Become well-versed with their products and unique features. Also, read blogs to check out their recent accomplishments, media coverages, and major priorities.
  • Highlight your strengths: Position yourself as a strong match by translating your past work experience to how they can be used in the future for your job role at Apple.
  • Get your basics right: Brush up on your programming language of choice and data structures and algorithms concepts.
  • Use the STAR method: This is a great approach to respond to behavioral Apple interview questions. To use the STAR (Situation, Task, Action, Result) approach effectively, you should begin by explaining the situation, the task, the actions you did to achieve the task, and finally, the results you obtained.
