How To Find The School You Want
Finding the right school for your child is a major project. However, if you tackle it methodically, you will get good results. Here’s a roadmap to finding the school you want.
Private School Supplies
Your child will need lots of supplies when she goes off to private school. These lists will help get you organized.
Swaddling can be a great way to help younger babies settle easily and sleep for longer stretches at naps and overnight. The swaddle suppresses their startle (moro) reflex and recreates the cozy feeling of being in the womb. Sadly though, there will come a day when you need to say goodbye to the swaddle and this can cause some disruption to your little one’s settling and sleep.

When to stop swaddling
Most babies don’t lose their moro reflex until closer to 5 months so we generally recommend keeping your baby swaddled until then (if you are able to), so that they won’t startle themselves awake once the swaddle is removed.
Once your baby starts to roll though, it is no longer safe to keep them swaddled, as they will need their arms free to be able to lift and manouever their head and shoulders. If your baby is still quite young when they start rolling, you might want to consider a transitional swaddle that is safe for rolling such as the Sleepy Hugs or Zipadee-Zip.
If your baby is still swaddled and starts to show signs of rolling, such as rolling up onto their side or rolling from belly to back – don’t panic! You don’t have to rush the swaddle away immediately as it may be some time yet before they actually succeed in rolling over onto their belly, especially while they are in bed. Instead, continue to monitor them closely and if you feel they are ready, start gradually removing the swaddle.
If your baby gets to 6 months and is still not showing any signs of rolling, it’s worth discussing with your doctor, but since their startle reflex should have disappeared by now, we would recommend going ahead and removing the swaddle.
How to stop swaddling
Removing the swaddle can be a tricky period for your little one, as they will have come to associate the swaddle with sleep and sleeping with their hands free will feel very new for them.
Having your baby in a predictable nap pattern for their day will make this transition a lot easier, as you can guarantee they’ll be perfectly ready for their naps, which will mean a lot less overtired or undertired fussing once the swaddle is gone.
Firstly, we would recommend setting up some positive sleep associations and ensuring their sleep environment is spot-on before attempting to ditch the swaddle. Our recommendations are:
1. Introduce white noise and play it as loud as a shower for all naps and overnight. You can find our white noise album here.
2. Make the room nice and dark with no stimulating toys or nightlights. This promotes the release of the sleep hormone, melatonin, which helps our little ones to fall asleep and stay asleep.
3. Give your baby an age-appropriate lovey or comforter they can hold once free of the swaddle.
4. Replace the swaddle with a baby sleeping bag (if you don’t already have a swaddle that transitions to arms-out)
5. Encourage your baby to fall asleep independently, or self-settle, without active settling from you – this is often much easier to achieve while they’re still swaddled!
From there, we have two methods to transition out of the swaddle…
Gradual Method
During this transition, keep everything else the same in your baby’s sleep environment: dark room, white noise etc. If you feel it is appropriate, you can add a cuddly for them to hold to help control their newfound freedom with their arms.
This method works by doing the unswaddling bit by bit, nap by nap.
Day 1
Remove one arm out of the swaddle at the morning nap first, as this is the easiest for your baby to go to sleep. Give them the chance to settle themselves to sleep, but if they are struggling, it’s okay to actively settling them all the way to sleep while they get used to not having the swaddle (this might mean patting or side settling to sleep). For the rest of their naps and overnight, keep both arms in the swaddle for now.
Day 2-3
Overnight – once your baby is used to having their arm out for the morning nap, take one arm out of the swaddle for their overnight sleep. Keep both arms in for their other daytime naps for now.
Day 4-5
Lunchtime nap – once your baby is used to having their arm out for the morning nap and overnight, take one arm out of the swaddle for their lunchtime nap. They may wake after one sleep cycle, in which case you can go and resettle them back to sleep. Keep both arms in for their late afternoon nap for now; as this is often the hardest nap to achieve. If your baby is resisting the afternoon nap, you can try doing this nap in the car, stroller or front pack during this transition.
Day 6-7 & Beyond
Once your baby is doing all naps (except the late afternoon nap) with one arm out, take the other arm out, starting with the morning nap, in the same way you did the first arm. Begin with 2 arms out for the morning nap only, then overnight, then lastly the lunchtime nap. They may wake after one sleep cycle for their naps in which case you can go and resettle them back to sleep. Once both arms are out, you can also implement this for the late afternoon nap, or continue to do the afternoon nap in the car, stroller or front pack if you prefer.
It is very normal for your baby to be a bit unsettled during this transition – they just have a new “normal” to adapt to that is very different from what they’ve known. It will get better!
Quick Method
With this method, you go cold turkey on the swaddle for all naps from day 1. You can actively settle your baby to sleep if they’re not settling well, being mindful to reduce the settling after a couple of days so as not to create a new sleep association.
Day 1 might be a bit tricky, but day 2 and 3 will be much easier! Since the late afternoon nap is usually a hard nap to get your baby to sleep, we recommend doing this nap in the car or a stroller or front pack during the removal of the swaddle.
Once unswaddled, your baby may wake after one sleep cycle at the lunch nap and/or after bedtime. You can just resettle them back to sleep if that happens. Do the same with any overnight wakes (allowing for feeds if your baby normally has them). Try not to panic! These wakes are usually only temporary while your baby is adjusting to having their arms out.
By day 3 your baby should be getting used to having no swaddle, so start to give them the chance to settle themselves to sleep if they were previously self-settling.
Any change for your baby is going to be hard and it will take some time for them to adjust, un-swaddling is no exception. What will make this transition much easier is having your baby in a good nap routine so they already have clear sleep associations and expectations.

Transitioning Out of the Swaddle
If you’ve taken Will I Ever Sleep Again? you know that newborns long for the womb those first few months after birth. They love the security of feeling snug while sleeping, and this is exactly what swaddling offers.* However, as the saying goes “all good things must come to an end,” and this is the case with swaddling. Let’s talk about transitioning out of the swaddle.
*If your little one hates to be swaddled, this class addresses that too. You can learn more about why I recommend swaddling, even for swaddle haters.
When do I stop swaddling?#
There isn’t a universal baby age for coming out of the swaddle; instead, you’ll want to stop swaddling when it’s developmentally appropriate for your baby. We stop swaddling when your little one rolls from back to tummy, or you suspect he is about to start rolling from back to tummy.***
For most babies, this happens between 3-5 months of age (However, every baby is different; there is no reason to worry if your baby is a little ahead or behind this range.). The reason to stop swaddling at this point is safety. Once a baby can flip onto his tummy, he needs his hands free to push up from the mattress.
Again remember, every baby is different. This transition really does require patience, and then for some babies, this transition is quite easy. With that in mind, don’t rush out of the swaddle; if your baby is not showing signs of rolling over, there is no reason to stop swaddling yet.***
I recommend transitioning out of the swaddle into a sleep sack.
Four options to conquer this transition:#
1) Cold turkey#
Just move her into a sleep sack with arms free. For some, this truly is the most effective option.
2) Swaddle with one arm out#
This works great with a swaddle like The Ollie Swaddle (Use code takingcarababies for 10% off.). Swaddle snuggly like you have been doing but leave one arm out. This gives your baby a chance to adjust slowly, but she will still be safe if she rolls onto her tummy. Do this for 1-4 weeks; then, when your baby is adjusting well with one arm unrestrained, allow both arms free and transition to a sleep sack. Follow your baby’s lead on the exact timing.
3) Partial night#
If your baby hasn’t yet rolled, the “partial night” option may be best. With this technique, you may implement one of the above suggestions. When he awakens, swaddle him back up with arms inside the swaddle. Each night try to go a bit longer with arms free. Babies coming out of the swaddle too early can cause major sleep disruptions. When your baby is able to sleep through the night with both arms out, transition to a sleep sack.
4) Implement a transitional item to help with this transition#
One fabulous transitional item is Merlin’s Magic Sleep Suit. This 3-layered suit provides babies with the comfort they need by helping to muffle their twitches and startle movements that can wake them prematurely. Code: CARA15 can save you 15%.
When your baby is ready, you can transition into a traditional sleep sack.
Want to see this in action? #
Have a baby older than 5 months and still struggling?#
For babies who are over 5 months and struggling with sleep, The 5–24 Month Collection will give you a holistic, fully customizable, step-by-step plan to follow that will help you establish consolidated sleep. It will cover bedtime, night wakings, night weaning, early morning wakings, and naps too. Sometimes, just having it all laid out for you by an expert you can trust is exactly what you need.
*** If you’re unsure about swaddling in the first place, check out my blog all about swaddling and swaddle safety. I’ll walk you through all of the research. Of course, you and your doctor should make the best decision for YOUR baby about when swaddling should be discontinued.
If everything is correct, the baby sleeps well: how to swaddle a baby
Types of swaddling
There are several types of swaddling: tight, loose and wide. In all cases, diapers should be chosen from natural fabrics.
Anna Alekseevna Pchelintseva, a pediatrician at the K+31 West clinic, told Gazeta.Ru about the pros and cons of different methods of swaddling.
• Firm . This is a traditional type of swaddling, which was used by our great-grandmothers.
The specialist speaks of this method as follows: “In this case, the diaper fits very tightly to the baby’s body, fixes the arms and legs in a stationary state, the baby is deprived of any movement. But this method is not physiological, it can interfere with the normal physical development of the newborn, and also increases the risk of respiratory and circulatory disorders.”
• Free . This method has two options: loose swaddling with arms and legs and free swaddling without hands.
Dr. Pchelintseva explains how loose swaddling differs from tight swaddling: “The baby still has the ability to move. Taking into account the fact that physiological hypertonicity is observed in children during the first months of life, it is recommended not to stretch the arms along the body, but to cross them on the chest. In the second option (without arms), only the legs are swaddled, the fixation is loose.
• Wide . This method is used in the pathology of the hip joint.
The pediatrician clarifies that with such swaddling, the baby’s legs are fixed in the “frog” position. To do this, it is necessary to put a small pillow or a roll of diapers between the legs, hands can not be fixed.
Swaddling a baby is not too difficult. A pediatrician at the K + 31 West clinic shared with young parents a brief instruction on the free type of swaddling.
Free swaddling technique with arms and legs . Lay the diaper on a flat, firm surface, tucking the top of the diaper slightly inwards. Place the baby on the diaper so that its upper edge is at the level of the lower part of the back of the head. We cross the arms on the chest. We take the left corner of the diaper and put it under the back of the baby. We fix it loosely so that the child has the opportunity to move. We do the same with the right corner of the diaper. We take the lower free corners of the diaper and put it on the baby’s legs. We take the right edge of the diaper and wind it back, then the left one and bend the corner – we fix the diaper. There must be enough space for the child to straighten his legs .
It is important to remember that under no circumstances should a child be left unattended on the changing table!
What are the advantages of swaddling
Supporters of swaddling point out several advantages of using diapers and undershirts made of natural fabrics.
Among them is the ability to maintain the optimal temperature for the child’s body, as the natural fabric cover creates a warm and cozy cocoon. In favor of swaddling, it is worth noting that it helps the newborn sleep better. The fact is that in the first months of life, babies are not able to control their movements, so they can move their arms and legs, which is why they wake up. Swaddling a baby does not allow him to make unnecessary movements.
In addition, for many parents, diapers and undershirts are also economical children’s clothing.
Swaddle a newborn baby or not? As Dr. Pchelintseva notes, this is the choice of parents. But sometimes there is a need for wide swaddling: it contributes to the normal formation of the hip joint.

Is it true that swaddling helps with hip dysplasia
In favor of swaddling, many parents recall its ability to have a beneficial effect on the musculoskeletal system. Is wide swaddling really used for hip dysplasia?
Nikolai Petrovich Batsalenko, pediatric traumatologist-orthopedist, candidate of medical sciences, specialist of JSC “Medicine” (Academician Roitberg’s clinic) told Gazeta. Ru about this:
depression, thus stimulating the formation of ossification nuclei. This applies to the immaturity of the hip joint, which lies under the brand name of dysplasia. But dysplasia is still a separate diagnosis. Now various types of diapers are successfully replacing wide swaddling, because the baby’s legs are bred. Swaddling can be used as an additional measure, but this is quite an outdated method, few people use it.
Dr. Batsalenko emphasized that exactly the same effect can be obtained when using slings: “A woman wraps herself in a sling (a strip of fabric with which the baby is attached to the mother’s body) and threads the free end of the fabric through the rings. The child is placed in a fabric pocket formed on the mother’s chest. Such a model provides reliable fixation of the baby in a physiological position: horizontal or vertical. The effect of slings is almost the same: the head of the femur presses on the acetabulum, stimulating the formation of ossification nuclei. ”
Why swaddle a baby at night?
As mentioned above, involuntary movements of the baby’s arms and legs can wake him up during sleep.
Anna Alekseevna Pchelintseva, pediatrician at the K + 31 Zapad clinic, explains this feature from a scientific point of view: “The Moro reflex is a physiological reflex when, in response to irritation, the arms are abducted to the sides and the hands are unclenched, after which the hands return to their original position . The reflex can occur during the falling asleep phase and will easily wake the child up.
close

Therefore, the baby’s tendency to move its arms and legs should not scare you – it’s natural. The way out is to swaddle a newborn baby at night.
Until what age should a baby be swaddled? The pediatrician replies that this reflex fades by 3-4 months , therefore, in the first months of life, it is preferable to use swaddling with arms and legs. But during wakefulness, the child should not be in a diaper or a vest with closed handles, otherwise he will not be able to explore the world with the help of touch.
How to swaddle a baby tightly?
As Anna Pchelintseva explains, too tight swaddling of a baby can lead to problems with children’s health: “Circulation and breathing may worsen, movement in the hip joint is limited, which can play a role in the development of dysplasia.”
How do you know if your baby is swaddled correctly?
• If the swaddle is too tight, the baby’s skin color may change and cause anxiety.
• If everything is correct, the child sleeps peacefully.
• If swaddling is too loose, the baby may become unswaddled.
At what age can you stop swaddling your baby?
Many parents are interested in: until what age should a child be swaddled?
The pediatrician at the K+31 West clinic answers that the duration of swaddling is individual. But in general up to 3 months it is preferable to use swaddling with arms and legs, and then, if necessary (if the child is woken up by the movements of the arms and legs at night), switch to a free type of swaddling without hands. At the same time, the doctor emphasizes that today there are devices for children that can serve as an alternative to swaddling, for example, cocoon diapers.
At the age of 3 to 5 months, babies make their first attempts to crawl . During this period, comfortable clothing made from natural fabrics will be the best option for a child. Swaddling a baby while awake is highly undesirable.
Swaddling: This is how you keep your baby asleep | kidsroom.de
A child wrapped up and sleeping quietly. Only one head peeks out. As if the stork had just brought it. When visiting new parents, one can often see such a scene. When interviewing young parents, we learn that small children are swaddled. The tight wrap is designed to help babies during the first few weeks while sleeping, it has a soothing effect. Swaddling has become a real trend. But still, how does it work and where does this trend come from, and what exactly does “swaddling” mean?
What is swaddling?
Swaddling is a technique in which your baby is wrapped in a swaddle and has a calming effect on him. The main objective of the technique is to create a narrow and comforting space that is familiar to the child from the womb. In addition, swaddling should have a positive effect on reducing the Moro reflex. This reflex is innate in every child and manifests itself in children from a sudden noise or vibration, the baby jerks his arms and legs and spreads his fingers. From a sudden noise or vibration, the baby jerks and stretches his arms and legs and spreads his fingers. This process occurs during the falling asleep phase, and thus wakes up the child.
Modern swaddling is not a new invention at all, it is a modification of various and sometimes very old methods of swaddling. In Germany, these methods were widely used until the 19th century.
Modern swaddling is not a new invention at all, it is a modification of various and sometimes very old methods of swaddling.
One of the main differences from traditional methods is that swaddling is now mainly used to calm the baby and provide him with a more pleasant sleep. Previously, it was believed that the soft body of the child should be supported and given shape, in connection with this there was a tight “lacing”. As criticism of tight swaddling grew louder, it began to disappear from Western culture from the 18th century.
The basic idea of the old method of swaddling, which is widely used today among many primitive peoples, has been revived. A 2011 scientific study by L. E. Meyer and T. Erler (“Swaddling: a traditional care method rediscovered”) claims that swaddled children have longer and more restful sleep. In addition, with the help of swaddling, the likelihood of spontaneous awakening is reduced.
Benefits
More restful and longer sleep
Many babies calm down faster in a diaper
The risk of SIDS is reduced because the child cannot turn on his stomach
Risks
Doctors warn of swaddling babies too tight as nerves can be pinched
Risk of hip dysplasia (deformity of the hip joint) is increased
Too tight swaddling increases the risk of overheating
How to swaddle your baby correctly
Swaddling promotes restful sleep and helps your baby calm down. Swaddling for too long poses risks for poor posture and can lead to overheating, one of the main causes of sudden infant death syndrome. Use swaddling only for falling asleep. You can choose a special changing bag or a thin blanket or diaper. Whichever option you choose, technique matters! Your obstetrician will help you with questions.
Swaddling made easy
Step 1: Place the blanket in a diamond shape in front of you. Place the top corner over the bottom corner to form a triangle. Put the baby in the middle. The head should protrude above the blanket, and the shoulders should be below the fold of the matter.
Step 2: Place your baby’s right hand flat against your body. Now lift the right side of the blanket and put it on the baby. Make sure your hand is properly positioned under the cloth. Tuck the edge of the blanket under the body.
.
Step 3: Fold the bottom of the blanket up over your baby’s legs.
Step 4: In the final step, hold the child’s left arm against the body and wrap the child. The remaining material is then pushed under your treasure. Ready!
Important
Make sure you don’t wrap the blanket too tightly around your body at all stages.
When to stop swaddling
However, there are situations when you need to stop swaddling. At elevated body temperature of the child, in no case should you swaddle, this threatens to overheat due to the fact that the heat cannot escape. Swaddling with congenital hip dysplasia should also be avoided so as not to aggravate the situation.
Pay attention to your baby’s reactions. As is often the case, even this method is not recommended for all children equally. Whether your child is already having a restful sleep, there is no need to swaddle. For some babies, swaddling has the opposite effect. They don’t like to be wrapped, it only annoys them. If you notice that swaddling does not bring comfort to your child, then you should not insist.
When to stop swaddling
Swaddling is used mainly for calming and counteracting the “Moro reflex”. It is recommended to swaddle a baby only in the first few weeks of life, as the Moro reflex decreases after the second or third month of life. The desire of the child to move increases with age. Your baby wants freedom of movement to develop motor skills. Swaddling in this case will restrict freedom and thus affect the development of motor skills. The increased joy of movement creates additional risk during swaddling. Your child may roll over on their stomach and will no longer be able to return to the supine position on their own. The prone position increases the risk of sudden infant death syndrome. Especially if the child is not observed for a long time during sleep, swaddling should be abandoned.
A good alternative to swaddling, recommended for babies after the third month, are baby sleeping bags.

Russian school in California – pora_valit – Cached record
While the Russian armed forces are trying to protect the Russian-speaking population of Crimea with tanks, the Slavic immigrants of California on their own create a network of comprehensive schools with the study of Russian language. Imagine an ordinary comprehensive school, say, somewhere in the center of Moscow or St. Petersburg with a real football stadium, modern sports grounds, an extensive Russian library…
… And now let’s mentally transfer all of the above to the capital of California, add about fifty American teachers and teachers of the Russian language, do not forget to install the most modern teaching equipment in each classroom, and also seat one thousand two hundred children on their desks! So, we are in a charter school – Community Outreach Academy. I must say right away that this is not the only such school in the city – there are several similar institutions in Sacramento, but all of them are clearly inferior in scale to this one. nine0013
The vast majority of students at this school are the children of first-generation Russian-speaking immigrants who once arrived in the Golden State from Ukraine, Belarus, Armenia and other CIS countries. The fact is that most immigrants do not want their offspring to forget their native language, irrevocably mingling with the local population. So parents send their kids to a charter school where they gnaw at the granite of science in a bilingual environment. (And the after-school program of the institution also offers the study of the Ukrainian language). This is perhaps the only school of such a large scale in the United States of America. nine0013
The “mission” of the school says that the activity of the educational organization is dedicated to “development of the academic talents of students, instilling in students a sense of love for their rich cultural heritage, including moral values, preparing students for an informed choice of their place in the civil life of society” .
Walk through any American secondary school, you would probably witness a couple of fights in the schoolyard and, most likely, you would find an indispensable attribute of all public educational institutions – a police car on duty. However, here – everything is different. At breaks, children peacefully play football, and during classes they study diligently. Unlike many American schools, here on campus you hardly find a cigarette butt. Not to mention columns of smoke from marijuana – this is very strict here. nine0013
“I believe that our children should remain bilingual,” says the headmaster, Larisa Gonchar, “people of high culture and great knowledge. As you can see, we put our soul into our children.” And indeed, walking through the buildings of the Russian-language school in McLelan, I found that all the property of the school is maintained in perfect order and in some places even construction work is underway.
Larisa Gonchar came to California from Belarus 22 years ago. By the way, for some time Larisa’s family lived in the Crimea, where they are now actively fighting for the Russian heritage. “While observing the Slavic immigrant community in Sacramento, I hatched the idea of combining elements of the American education system to meet the needs of our community.” Despite the fact that the Belarusian by nationality has a “union” education behind her, Larisa decides to get a second, American one. After receiving a master’s degree in pedagogy from the University of California, as well as the right to teach in elementary school, our compatriot set about setting up a charter school according to her vision. nine0013
Here we should step back a little and explain to readers what a charter school is in America. Charter schools appeared in the US in the 90s in response to the clumsy state institutions. Today, almost every corner of America has such institutions. They usually combine elements of private and public schools. Charter schools are independent (but still public) schools created and run by educators, parents, local leaders, educators, and so on. State organizations, of course, exercise control over the quality of education in these schools, but give them wide autonomy in the method of education, the choice of secondary subjects and the way they are managed. nine0013
Despite this, charter schools are still funded from the state budget, which provides all students with free education. (By the way, the influx of applicants to the Community Outreach Academy is so great that, according to the administration, a lottery has to be played for each place). Thus, charter schools are private enterprises using public resources. In doing so, they do without the extra bureaucratic red tape and obstacles that government agencies usually put in place for schools, which allows these schools to conduct educational experiments that are completely unthinkable within the framework of ordinary schools. nine0013
This school has little in common with traditional Russian education. In the lowest grades, for example, there are no desks. Instead, there are tables for groups of up to a dozen children of different ages. Students work together and independently, each at their own level of knowledge and ability. During the classes, teachers have time to work individually with each student.
“Last year we built another playground for junior classes, – Larisa Gonchar shows me a super-modern playground, – in the near future we plan to invest at least half a million dollars in another one. ” In addition, the school has a wide variety of sports and development sections: for example, a Russian karate school has been operating here recently. nine0013
Anticipating my next question (where does the money come from in a crisis?), it’s no secret that many, even public schools in America today receive less funding, and some even close, Larisa answers: “Following the old Russian habit, we try to economically distribute finance, for example, where American schools squander their budget, we try to do without frills.”
Despite this, every classroom has a giant plasma screen for interactive learning – squeaky chalk (with a slate) is kept here in the school museum as a fossil. I was told that each of these panels cost the school, by the way, up to ten thousand dollars. “Children are our future,” Larisa smiles, “we don’t feel sorry for anything for them!” nine0013
How can a Russian school do without high-quality volumes of Dostoevsky and Pushkin? I was told that the Russian Language Department at the Community Outreach Academy had recently opened a real Russian library. While only a quarter of California fourth graders can read fluently, Slavic children are excellent at writing, reading and bilingual. In fact, children grow up here in a bilingual environment. According to school administration statistics, at least 60 percent of children graduate exclusively with an “A”, which corresponds to the Russian “five”. Larisa Gonchar says that, unlike first-generation immigrants, most of her students go to higher education institutions in the country. nine0013
According to the director, the school accepts children from grades K-6 (elementary school). The curriculum is adapted for non-English speaking students and complies with all US government standards. Among the main subjects in the school are taught English, mathematics, natural and social sciences. Teaching material for learning English is developed according to the Houghton Mifflin system, following which the child is guaranteed to receive a good level of education. For those who do not come to school from the first grade, teaching staff offer a wide range of additional opportunities and means for newcomers to catch up with other students. To learn English, for example, there is an ESL program. nine0013
The teaching staff of the school consists of American and partially Russian-speaking teachers. “We urgently need qualified Russian-speaking employees,” Gonchar complains, “if you speak Russian and have an appropriate American education, come to us, we guarantee you a job!” The advanced school currently has 1,200 students and more than a hundred teachers and administrative staff.
“The Community Outreach Academy was created to develop not only the academic abilities of students, but also to promote the formation of a healthy character in the child, to instill in every student the ethical and moral principles of life,” the organization’s charter says. nine0013
“Cheating is any use of the labor of another student, – written in large print on a special board in the English grammar classroom, – students involved in cheating during tests or final exams will be directed to the school administrator’s office for disciplinary action against them Remember that by cheating in exams, you are cheating yourself and depriving yourself of the necessary knowledge!
“In addition to the traditional subjects that are taught in regular secondary schools, we have developed our own character development program,” says Larisa Gonchar, continuing the tours around the campus. character development.” Following this program, throughout the school year, students focus on such character traits as “friendship, loyalty, honesty, self-control, cooperation, balance”, etc. In this way, educators achieve a healthy and safe atmosphere in the school. The study of the program enables children to acquire “the values and principles of life that contribute to the formation of a strong character and healthy interpersonal relationships.” nine0013
According to teachers, the special program helps to reduce problems associated with bullying, rudeness and bad behavior. As a result, “academy” students are less at risk of alcohol, tobacco and drug abuse, Sacramento social workers say.
According to the school principal, the so-called “toilet law”, which requires public schools in California to give transgender students the right to use appropriate toilets, has not yet reached the Russian school. “When it comes, then we will decide what to do,” says Gonchar. nine0013
Interestingly, the educational institution is located right on the territory of the old military airfield. In those buildings where during the Cold War instructors prepared American soldiers for combat operations, today new Russian-speaking citizens of America are trained. Coming back from school, I pass by a military training ground where US Air Force fighter jets are rusting into the concrete of the runway. They are no longer needed here – as, indeed, in the tank divisions of the Russian army …
In the school parking lot, I ran into a group of parents picking up their children from school. I asked why they chose this educational institution? “I want my children to know Russian,” the father of the child answered me with a Ukrainian accent.

education for children from immigrant families
Immigrant children have the same educational rights as children of US citizens, including the right to free education in public schools (Public school). nine0013
No one in an American school is worried that a new student has just arrived in the country and does not speak English. To do this, he will be offered free classes in which he will quickly master it.
The main difference of the American school is that it is focused on the personality of the child and his ability to think, analyze, draw conclusions, and not on simple memorization of the material.
If you can choose a kindergarten at your discretion and the staffing of groups, then choosing a school is different. All American schools are strictly tied to the place of residence. Therefore, families choose their place of residence not only in accordance with their expectations about the area and its infrastructure, but also, first of all, because of the school. nine0013
Features of American schools
Each school is evaluated on a 10-point scale according to the achievements of its graduates. You can view the school rankings at Greatschools. org . It is enough to enter the Zip-code (zip code) in the search box on this site and see all available schools and their ratings.
Adaptation of children takes place in a friendly environment – both children and teachers try to help newcomers. At the same time, the rules of the school are somewhat different from Russian ones. First, discipline is strictly observed. All violations of discipline are reported to the teacher. He, in turn, informs his parents. Secondly, if a child misbehaves, parents can be fined. nine0013
There are no parent meetings in the American school. Instead, school conferences, when parents of one child have 15 minutes to talk with the teacher face to face or on the phone. But the contacts don’t end there. Parents of schoolchildren receive dozens of letters from the school every day. For example, a child is distracted in class or falls and scratches his knee – parents are immediately informed.
Individualized education in US schools. Each child has mandatory lessons, as well as those that he can attend based on his interests. For example, if a child excels in some subject better than others, he is not forced to sit with others in the lesson, he has the right to go to the same subject, but with a class older. nine0013
American schools are also organizationally different:
Elementary school – up to grade 5.
Senior – from 9 to 12 grades.
And all these are not just different classes, these are different schools (buildings).
To enter a prestigious college, a student must have high scores on the SAT (Scholastic Aptitude Test), an analogue of our USE.
Public and private schools in America
0004 private schools , of which there are almost 35 thousand in the country. The cost of training starts from $10,000 per year and reaches $85-90 thousand. Private religious schools will be cheaper, since they are also funded by churches. The higher the status of the school and the results of its graduates, the higher the cost of education, respectively.
The Galena Territory is a semi-private, 6,800-acre private recreational and residential lake community located six miles outside the historic city of Galena in Northwest Illinois.
Property owners in the low-density planned residential community collectively own 1,900 acres of recreational amenities in addition to their own properties. These include 31 miles of walking/hiking trails, Lake Galena for boating and outstanding fishing, a marina complex, an equestrian center, and a state-of-the-art pool/recreation complex.
The Galena Territory boasts spectacular vistas, valleys, prairies, and woodlands, and harbors rare plant and bird species found nowhere else in Illinois. With a commitment to protecting and preserving this natural environment, The Galena Territory was designated a Community Wildlife Habitat by the National Wildlife Federation in 2010. MORE
The Galena Territory and Jo Daviess County are found in a unique geographical region called the Driftless Area, referring to the ridges and valleys the glaciers of the Pleistocene Epoch avoided.
The Galena Territory is easily reachable from anywhere in the Midwest without traveling far. Thanks to its beautiful setting and proximity to historic Galena, Illinois, and its boutiques and art galleries, The Territory is both rural and urban at the same time.

How did The Galena Territory grow from
a few farms to what it is today?
In 1970 the land we know and love as The Galena Territory was farmland. When The Branigar Organization, Inc. began development, they envisioned a lake where there was only a creek. In all, 22 farms were combined to become The Galena Territory which was incorporated on July 26, 1973.
The first amenity built was the Shenandoah Riding Center, in 1974, because it was on an existing road so it could be started without waiting for road construction. The first annual rodeo was held in 1975.
Lake Galena, dam, and spillway were constructed in 1974. During the summer of 1976 the lake was stocked with fish – 800 pounds of brown and rainbow trout, 500 largemouth bass, 4,000 blue gills, 2,100 channel cats, 2,000 perch, 50,000 northern pike and 50,000 walleyes were added.
Initially, Eagle Ridge Inn and the golf courses were constructed as a part of the development. In 1992, Eagle Ridge became a separate organization The Galena Territory Association is proud to partner with for many events.
The Owners’ Club was built in 1974 and expanded several times. Eventually adding a game room, office space the locker rooms and Social Halls. In 2012, the new Outdoor Pool Complex was opened with a activity pool, double slide, seating area, zero-entry pool with bubblers and a frog slide.
A combination of amenities with horses, tennis and Lake Galena, and a mix of housing; single-family, multi-unit or cluster housing, townhouses with a resort area;. This was all part of the “master plan of development” which is The Galena Territory today.

ABOUT US
ABOUT US
Hi, I’m Barbara. (aka Barbara Brownie) As a cook and former caterer, I love being in the kitchen. In 1995, I started a small side business baking brownies called Barbara Brownie. Since 1998, our classic brownies and other baked goods have been available at every Flatbread Company location, and quality stores and restaurants from Massachusetts to Hawaii and Maine To New York. When I heard that some of the kids that go to Flatbread were allergic to gluten, I was inspired to create a brownie that everyone could enjoy and not just people with gluten allergies. It became my “Free At Last” brownie which is gluten-free, dairy-free and nut-free. They melt in your mouth with no “gluten-free after-taste”. In fact, non gluten-free people can not tell the difference. I really did it for the kids.
Later, my daughter Arielle joined me and together we continue to expand our gluten-free product line. That idea has now created our “Gluten Free Territory” company, a separate dedicated gluten and nut-free facility.
Each of our premium, handmade, gluten-free products go through months of testing until it looks, tastes, smells and melts in your mouth like it should. We use real butter, crack every egg, and most important, use only real Madagascar vanilla to make the very best gluten-free baked goods that are tested to less than 5 parts per million of gluten, and made in a dedicated gluten-free/nut-free/peanut-free/soy-free facility.
We are very excited to be able to help people who are allergic to gluten or are just trying to eliminate it from their diet. Now these people are once again able to enjoy some sweet delights that actually taste good!

I am almost crying with joy.
The GF Pumpkin Cheesecake Brownie tasted amazing, so real and delicious! There was no gritty after-taste or “not quite right” sawdust tinge like in most GF baked goods I’ve tried, and it was perfectly moist with just the right affluent of satisfying resistance as I sank my teeth into it.
Thank you! Thank you so much for making something I can eat & enjoy without getting sick.

I am very pleased with everything.
The brownies were delicious and the shipping was very fast. My 5 year old daughter has celiac and it makes things like special meals or holidays difficult. Her school had a Thanksgiving lunch with a mini pumpkin pie that she can’t eat. Fortunately, I tossed your yummy gluten-free pumpkin cheesecake brownies into her schoolbag- It was a lovely little surprise for her. And my lovely surprise was the nice handwritten note in the box with the brownies. Very nice. I am so glad I came across your business. Thank you!

Territory of the Russian Empire in 1725-1815
In the 1720s the delimitation of Russian and Chinese possessions continued under the Burinsky and Kyakhta treaties of 1727. In the areas adjacent to the Caspian Sea, as a result of the Persian campaign of Peter I (1722-1723), the border of Russian possessions temporarily covered even all the western and Caspian territories of Persia. In 1732 and 1735 in connection with the aggravation of Russian-Turkish relations, the Russian government, interested in an alliance with Persia, gradually returned the Caspian lands to it.
In 1731, the nomadic Kirghiz-Kaisaks (Kazakhs) of the Younger Zhuz voluntarily accepted Russian citizenship, and in the same 1731 and 1740. – Middle Zhuz. As a result, the empire included the territories of the entire eastern Caspian, the Aral Sea, the Ishim and the Irtysh. In 1734, the Zaporizhian Sich was again accepted into Russian citizenship.
In the second quarter of the XVIII century. Russia continued the struggle for access to the Black, Azov and Baltic Seas. As a result of the wars with Turkey 1735-1739gg. Russia returned the Sea of Azov, but agreed to recognize it and Kabarda as neutral (“barrier”) lands, and secured Zaporozhye (including part of the Right-Bank Ukraine). After the war with Sweden (1741-1743), Russia received part of the territory of Finland (Kyumenegorsk province and part of Savolakskaya with the city of Neishlot) in the Peace of Abo in 1743.
Evidence of the increased influence of Russia in the world was its participation in the Seven Years’ War (1756-1763) in alliance with France and Austria against Prussia. During this war, East Prussia was occupied by Russian troops in 1758, and Berlin was taken in 1760. However, already in 1762, an admirer of the Prussian king, Peter III, ceded to Prussia all Russian conquests during the Seven Years’ War.
By this time, Russia was left with the task of reaching the Black Sea. After a series of brilliant victories of the Russian army during the Russian-Turkish war of 1768-1774. According to the Kyuchuk-Kainarji peace treaty with Turkey, Russia received the Sea of \u200b\u200bAzov to the Kuban, Kinburn with the territory from the Dnieper to the Southern Bug, the fortress of Kerch and Yenikale in the Crimea. Kabarda became part of Russia. Admitted to the citizenship of North Ossetia. The Crimean Khanate became independent from Turkey, and in 1783 it was annexed to Russia.
In 1787, Turkey again declared war on Russia, but, having suffered a number of defeats, in 1791, under the Treaty of Jassy, recognized the annexation of the former Crimean Khanate to Russia. In addition, Russia received the territory between the Southern Bug and the Dniester.
In 1783, the Georgievsky Treaty was concluded with the kingdom of Kartli-Kakheti (Eastern Georgia) on the voluntary recognition of the Russian protectorate over it.
In the west of the country, the main territorial acquisitions were associated with the three partitions of Poland (1772, 1793, 1795). The intervention of Prussia and Austria in the internal affairs of Poland led in 1772 to its division, in which Russia was forced to take part, acting in defense of the interests of the Orthodox population of Western Ukraine and Belarus. Part of Eastern Belarus (along the Dnieper-Western Dvina line) and part of Livonia were ceded to Russia. In 1792, Russian troops again entered the territory of the Commonwealth at the call of the Targowice Confederation. As a result of the second partition of Poland in 1793, the Right-bank Ukraine and part of Belarus (with Minsk) were ceded to Russia. The third section of the Commonwealth (1795) led to the elimination of the independence of the Polish state. Courland, Lithuania, part of Western Belarus and Volhynia went to Russia.
In the south-east of Western Siberia in the XVIII century. there was a gradual advance to the south: to the upper reaches of the Irtysh and Ob with tributaries (Altai and the Kuznetsk basin). Along the Yenisei, Russian possessions covered the Minusinsk Basin and the upper reaches of the Yenisei, excluding the sources themselves. Further to the east, the borders of Russia in the XVIII century. determined by the border with the Chinese Empire.
In the middle and second half of the century, the possessions of Russia, by right of discovery, covered southern Alaska, discovered in 1741 by the expedition of V. I. Bering and A. I. Chirikov, and the Aleutian Islands, annexed in 1786.
Thus, during the XVIII century, the territory of Russia increased to 17 million km 2 , and the population from 15.5 million people. in 1719 to 37 million people in 1795
All these changes in the territory, as well as the development of the state structure of the Russian Empire, were accompanied (and in some cases preceded) by intensive research – primarily and most of all topographic and general geographical.
In the 19th century, as well as in the previous century, the state territory of our fatherland continued to change, mainly in the direction of expansion. The territory of the country increased especially strongly in the first fifteen years of the 19th century. as a result of wars with Turkey (1806-1812), Iran (1804-1813), Sweden (1808-1809), France (1805-1815).
The beginning of the century is significant for the expansion of the possessions of the Russian Empire in the Caucasus. In 1801, the Kingdom of Kartli-Kakheti (Eastern Georgia), which had been under the protectorate of Russia since 1783, voluntarily joined Russia.
The unification of Eastern Georgia with Russia contributed to the subsequent voluntary entry into Russia of the Western Georgian principalities: Megrelia (1803), Imeretia and Guria (1804). In 1810, Abkhazia and Ingushetia voluntarily joined Russia. However, the coastal fortresses of Abkhazia and Georgia (Sukhum, Anaklia, Redut-Kale, Poti) were held by Turkey.
The Bucharest peace treaty with Turkey in 1812 ended the Russo-Turkish war. Russia kept in its hands all the regions of Transcaucasia up to the river. Arpachay, Adzharian mountains and the Black Sea. Only Anapa was returned to Turkey. On the other side of the Black Sea, Russia received Bessarabia with the cities of Khotyn, Bendery, Akkerman, Kiliya and Izmail. The border of the Russian Empire was established along the Prut to the Danube, and then along the Kiliya channel of the Danube to the Black Sea.
As a result of the war with Iran, the North Azerbaijani khanates joined Russia: Ganja (1804), Karabakh, Shirvan, Sheki (1805), Cuban, Baku, Derbent (1806), Talysh (1813), and in 1813 the Gulistan peace treaty was signed, according to which Iran recognized the accession to Russia of Northern Azerbaijan, Dagestan, Eastern Georgia, Imeretia, Guria, Megrelia and Abkhazia.
Russo-Swedish War 1808-1809 ended with the annexation of Finland to Russia, which was announced by the manifesto of Alexander I in 1808 and approved by the Friedrichsham Peace Treaty of 1809Russia ceded the territory of Finland to the river. Kemi, including the Åland Islands, Finnish Lapland and part of the province of Västerbotten up to the river. Torneo. Further, the border was established along the Torneo and Munio rivers, then north along the Munioniski-Enonteki-Kilpisjärvi line to the border with Norway. Within these boundaries, the territory of Finland, which received the status of an autonomous Grand Duchy of Finland, remained until 1917.

why young immune systems are still on top
Early last year, children’s hospitals across New York City had to pivot to deal with a catastrophic COVID-19 outbreak. “We all had to quickly learn — or semi-learn — how to take care of adults,” says Betsy Herold, a paediatric infectious-disease physician who heads a virology laboratory at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine. The reason: while hospitals across the city were bursting with patients, paediatric wards were relatively quiet. Children were somehow protected from the worst of the disease.
Data collected by the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention from hospitals across the country suggest that people under the age of 18 have accounted for less than 2% of hospitalizations due to COVID-19 — a total of 3,649 children between March 2020 and late August 2021. Some children do get very sick, and more than 420 have died in the United States, but the majority of those with severe illness have been adults — a trend that has been borne out in many parts of the world.
This makes SARS-CoV-2 somewhat anomalous. For most other viruses, from influenza to respiratory syncytial virus, young children and older adults are typically the most vulnerable; the risk of bad outcomes by age can be represented by a U-shaped curve. But with COVID-19, the younger end of that curve is largely chopped off. It’s “absolutely remarkable”, says Kawsar Talaat, an infectious-disease physician at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health in Baltimore, Maryland. “One of the few silver linings of this pandemic is that children are relatively spared. ”
The phenomenon was not entirely surprising to immunologists, however. With other viruses, adults have the advantage of experience. Through prior infection or vaccination, their immune systems have been trained to deal with similar-looking pathogens. The novelty of SARS-CoV-2 levelled the playing field, and showed that children are naturally better at controlling viral infections. “We always think of children as germ factories,” says Dusan Bogunovic, an immunologist and geneticist at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, in New York City. But it’s not because their immune systems are ineffective; they’re just inexperienced, he says.
COVID and schools: the evidence for reopening safely
Research is beginning to reveal that the reason children have fared well against COVID-19 could lie in the innate immune response — the body’s crude but swift reaction to pathogens. Kids seem to have an innate response that’s “revved up and ready to go”, says Herold. But she adds that more studies are needed to fully support that hypothesis.
The emergence of the Delta variant has made finding answers more urgent. Reports suggest that in the United States and elsewhere, children are starting to make up a larger proportion of reported infections and hospitalizations. These trends might be due to Delta’s high transmission rate and the fact that many adults are now protected by vaccines.
For now, there is no clear evidence that children are more vulnerable to or more affected by Delta compared with earlier variants. But SARS-CoV-2, like all viruses, is constantly mutating and becoming better at evading host defences, and that could make understanding childhood’s protective benefits more important. “We haven’t paid much attention to age-related differences in immune responses because it hasn’t had huge clinical implications previously,” says Lael Yonker, a paediatric pulmonologist at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston. “COVID-19 highlights that we need to better understand these differences.”
Brainstorming ideas
Why are children better than adults at controlling SARS-CoV-2? At first, researchers thought that children were simply not getting infected as often. But the data show that they are — at least nearly (children under age ten might be slightly less susceptible)1.
The American Academy of Pediatrics found that, up until late last month, some 15% of all COVID-19 cases in the United States had been in individuals aged under 21 — that’s more than 4.8 million young people (see ‘Young and infected’). And a survey in India that tested people for antibodies against SARS-CoV-2, which are produced after infection or vaccination, found that more than half of children aged 6–17 — and two-thirds of the population overall — had detectable antibodies.
Source: American Academy of Pediatrics and the Children’s Hospital Association
Clearly, children are getting infected. So maybe the virus can’t replicate in them as well as it does in adults. Some researchers proposed that children might have fewer ACE2 receptors, which the virus uses to enter and infect cells. There is conflicting evidence on age-related differences in ACE2 expression in the nose and lungs, but scientists who measured the ‘viral load’ — the concentration of viral particles — in people’s upper airways have seen no clear difference between children and adults2.
In one analysis3 of 110 children, posted as a preprint on 3 June, researchers found that infants through to teenagers could have high viral loads, especially soon after being infected. “Not only is the virus there and detectable, but it’s live virus,” which means these individuals are also infectious, says Yonker, who led the study.
Another proposal is that children, who seem to be sniffling all year round, might be more exposed to other coronaviruses that cause the common cold, and therefore have a squad of antibodies at the ready with some ability to latch on to the pandemic coronavirus. But the weight of evidence suggests that adults also have this immunity. Strikingly, these ‘cross-reactive’ antibodies don’t offer any special protection — if anything, they could lead to a misguided response.
Having largely discounted these hypotheses, Herold and her colleagues set out to look at whether there was something specific in children’s immune response that gave them a benefit.
Some clues were circulating in the blood of those who have been infected. In a study4 comparing 65 individuals aged under 24 with 60 older people, Herold and her colleagues found that, overall, the younger patients (who had milder symptoms) produced similar levels of antibodies to the older cohort. But they had reduced levels of specialized antibodies and cells related to the adaptive immune response, the arm of the immune system that learns about a pathogen and helps to quickly quash it if it ever returns. Specifically, kids had lower levels of ‘neutralizing’ antibodies that block SARS-CoV-2 from infecting cells; antibodies that label infected cells to be gobbled up and destroyed by other cells; and white blood cells known as regulatory and helper T cells.
Will COVID become a disease of the young?
By contrast, the children in the study had higher levels of the signalling proteins interferon-γ and interleukin-17, which alert the immune system to the arrival of a pathogen. These were probably produced by cells that line the airways, and are involved in mediating innate immunity. Herold suspected that the children mounted a less robust adaptive immune response because their innate response was more efficient at eliminating the threat. An overactive adaptive response in adults, she says, could be causing some of the complications in COVID-19.
Another study5, by researchers in Hong Kong, of adults and children infected with SARS-CoV-2 also found that the adaptive response — specifically that of T-cells — was less potent in children, suggesting that something was happening early on that triggered the difference, says study co-author Sophie Valkenburg at the University of Hong Kong.
But, she says, other factors such as reduced inflammation and a more targeted adaptive response could also be important. The researchers found that infected children had lower levels of cells known as monocytes, including inflammatory monocytes, which act as a bridge between the innate and adaptive immune systems. But these children did have higher levels of T follicular helper cells, which are important for making an early antibody response.
First responders
Herold and her colleagues have since tried to measure more directly the innate response in children. They took nose and throat swabs from people arriving at the emergency department, including 12 children with milder disease and 27 adults, some of whom died. The children had higher levels of signalling proteins such as interferons and interleukins, and higher expression of the genes that code for such proteins2.
One broad category of immune cells that could be playing an important part in children, says Yonker, are innate lymphoid cells, which are among the first to detect tissue damage and secrete signalling proteins that help to regulate the innate and adaptive immune responses. In one study6 posted as a preprint on 4 July, Yonker and her colleagues found that the number of innate lymphoid cells in the blood of people who did not have COVID-19 declined with age and was lower in men — mirroring the greater risk of severe disease observed in older men. Adults with severe disease and children with symptoms also had reduced levels of these cells.
Compared with adults, children recently infected with SARS-CoV-2 have also been found to have higher levels of activated neutrophils, cells that are on the front line in the response to unfamiliar invaders7. Neutrophils ingest viral particles before they have a chance to replicate, says Melanie Neeland, an immunologist at the Murdoch Children’s Research Institute (MCRI) in Melbourne, who led the work. Furthermore, they become less effective with age.
Epithelial cells that line the insides of the nose could also be coordinating the quick response. In children, these cells are flush with receptors that can recognize molecules commonly found in pathogens; specifically, researchers have found that children have significantly higher expression of genes encoding MDA5, a receptor known to recognize SARS-CoV-2, than do adults8. After spotting the viral intruder, these cells immediately trigger the production of interferons. “For us adults, it takes two days to ramp up the viral defence system to a level that we see from day zero with children,” says study co-author Roland Eils, a scientist in computational genomics at the Berlin Institute of Health. “It’s the time lag which makes the difference between children and adults.”
Studies of rare, inherited, immune disorders also point to a predominant role for innate immunity in thwarting respiratory pathogens such as influenza.

Isabelle Meyts, a paediatric immunologist and physician at the Catholic University of Leuven in Belgium, regularly sees children with immune disorders. When the pandemic hit, she prepared a plan to protect them. “The patients I was most scared for were actually the patients who have innate immune defects,” says Meyts.
Her hunch has so far proved correct. Children with disorders affecting their adaptive immune response — those who don’t produce antibodies or have faulty B-cell and T-cell production, for example — did not encounter problems when infected with SARS-CoV-2. Among those that became severely ill were children with shortcomings in their innate immune response, she says. “It’s not really the adaptive immune system that is helping you to beat this virus.”
A study in adults9 also found that a small number of people with severe COVID-19 have mutations that disrupt type 1 interferon activity, which plays a part in the innate immune response to viruses. Separate analyses found that one in ten people with life-threatening COVID-19 produced antibodies that blocked the activity of these interferons10, and that the prevalence of such antibodies increases with age in people who have not previously been infected with the coronavirus11.
But, an overactive innate response might be detrimental as well. People with Down’s syndrome, for example, are more at risk of severe COVID-19, which Meyts says could be because the extra chromosome they have contains several genes involved in the type 1 interferon response. There is an intriguing balance to be struck between a deficient initial response and an excessive one, says Meyts. “It needs to be exactly right on the spot, and the timing needs to be perfect.”
Tickling bad memories
Innate immunity is hardly the whole story, say researchers, especially given how interconnected it is with the adaptive response.
“The idea that the immunologic tone is different in children seems likely,” says Laura Vella, an immunologist and paediatric infectious-diseases researcher at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. “But what’s contributing to that difference?” It could be many things working together, she says.
Some researchers propose that years of exposure to other human coronaviruses could mean that adult immune systems approach SARS-CoV-2 the way they would those other viruses, resulting in a less effective response — a concept known as original antigenic sin. By contrast, kids could be producing a fresh, more finely tuned response to a brand-new virus.
COVID vaccines and kids: five questions as trials begin
Amy Chung, an immunologist at the Peter Doherty Institute for Infection and Immunity in Melbourne, Australia, has seen some evidence of this in an expansive study12 of antibodies in the blood of a few hundred children and adults, including 50 infected with SARS-CoV-2. She and her colleagues found that adults had more cross-reactive antibodies targeted at parts of SARS-CoV-2 that were similar to bits of other coronaviruses, whereas children tended to produce a broader range of antibodies against all sections of the virus.
Researchers are also looking at other factors that are known to worsen with age, such as the ability to control inflammation and heal damaged tissue. Children are less prone to clots forming in blood vessels, and this could offer some protection, says Vera Ignjatovic, a biochemist who studies paediatric haematology at the MCRI.
Of course, not all children have asymptomatic or mild infection. Some, many of whom have underlying conditions such as chronic heart disease or cancer, get serious pneumonia. And estimates vary widely for the prevalence of ‘long COVID’, in which symptoms persist for months or more. A recent preprint suggested that up to 14% of young people who test positive for COVID-19 have multiple symptoms three months after the diagnosis13. And a small group of otherwise healthy children — some 3 out of 10,000 infected individuals aged under 21 — experience a condition known as multi-system inflammatory syndrome in children (MIS-C). They generally respond well to the initial infection, but about a month later are admitted to hospital with a host of symptoms, from heart failure to abdominal pain and conjunctivitis, with minimal damage to the lungs. “It’s a sick group of kids,” says Vella.
Michael Levin, a paediatrician and infectious-diseases physician at Imperial College London, thinks MIS-C is probably the result of an outsized antibody or T-cell reaction to the infection. But despite hundreds of papers on the topic, “exactly what distinguishes children who get MIS-C from the rest of the child population is completely unknown”, says Levin.
As the pandemic wears on, researchers worry that the virus could evolve in ways that thwart some part of kids’ innate protection. Some researchers have found that the Alpha variant, which was dominant in some parts of the world for a time, developed tricks that allowed it to suppress the body’s innate immune response. They worry that Delta could do the same. For now, increased hospitalizations of children in regions where Delta is circulating seem to be the result of its enhanced infectivity across all ages, coupled with the fact that many adults are vaccinated or have already been infected with SARS-CoV-2. But researchers are watching carefully.
“Almost all viruses have developed ways of evading the innate immune system, and COVID-19 is no exception to that rule,” says Herold. “Right now — knock on wood — the kids are still winning with their innate immunity.” But for how much longer? “We don’t know.”
The 8 Worst Things Parents Can Teach Children
There is nothing surprising in the fact that a child imitates their parents: they are authority, care, protect and love. It’s just that adults sometimes behave inappropriately in the company of a child, completely forgetting that a child copies absolutely everything, and not just the good. By their example, moms and dads show what is permissible, even if actions differ from words. What is the worst thing parents can teach children?
1. Do not love or value yourself
If the mother constantly cries when she looks at herself in the mirror, and the father wears the same clothes for weeks, not paying attention to their condition, how will this affect the baby? Most likely, he will remember this behavior. Parents constantly criticize themselves, limit everything and have little rest? These habits will definitely become part of the life of a growing person. Even if unconsciously, adults will teach the child not to love himself. Is it possible to be happy with low self-esteem? nine0003
Adults want to believe that the child brought all these bad words from school, from the street or from a bad group of friends. It is not excluded, of course. But the child learns most of the swear words in the house. Because parents rarely think about the consequences of using strong expressions in their speech. Especially if mom and dad are in a quarrel. So it turns out that the baby begins to swear, having learned from relatives. nine0003
3. Eat wrong
It may seem that the habit of eating right is not very important and that the child’s addiction to sweets or chips has appeared due to intrusive advertising. No, everything comes from the parents. If they neglect a balanced diet, then the baby will do the same when he grows up. And healthy food is extremely important for a person.
Seven bad habits from childhood that robbed you of a thin waist
4. Be cruel
If domestic violence thrives in a family, there is a high probability that the child will become violent in the future. Because all childhood saw a vivid example of the fact that you can get what you want by force. At first, the child will select toys and fight on the playground, then he will go along a crooked path in adolescence. And he will not feel any guilt for violence against others. Because I saw this model of behavior among adults in my environment and the fact that no one tried to fight it.
5. Paying off other people
A kid comes up to his mother and asks to play, and she puts a tablet in his hands while she watches a series on TV. Or an example of a father who, instead of a healthy heart-to-heart talk with his wife – upset, sad, sometimes crying – holds out a beloved bouquet of flowers and a cake. The reluctance to solve problems, have awkward conversations, or simply be distracted from their studies for a while due to someone’s requests becomes the norm for a child. The main thing is to give something “nice” at the right moment. This is how children learn to pay off. nine0003
What other bad example is contagious? Self-pity and constant whining. It’s one thing to sometimes rant to relatives or a partner when it boils, but try to solve problems. Another is to simply complain about life and others, without making an attempt to somehow change the situation. Therefore, if adults, surrounded by a baby, complain and whine to each other day after day, this habit will be developed in the child. By the way, in adulthood, because of her, he will face a huge number of difficulties. nine0003
7. Avoiding Responsibility
What other terrible thing can parents teach their child? For example, avoidance of responsibility. Blaming anyone, but not yourself beloved – such tactics will be used by a person who grew up in a family where no one took responsibility for their actions. Do not pay bills on time, lose your job again and again, refuse words and even “change shoes”, accepting an opinion that is convenient for most people in your circle. Such a life awaits a child who grew up with parents who avoid responsibility. nine0003
8. Hiding feelings
Adults resort to silence to avoid conflict. Completely forgetting that if you swallow resentment and anger, unexpressed feelings will not go anywhere. They just settle somewhere inside, like scale in a teapot. Suppressing emotions is also dangerous because, having exhausted the limit of patience (each has its own), at one moment a person will not be able to stand it and will express to others even what he would like to keep silent about. And such a quarrel will be destructive to the relationship. If parents constantly behave like this, then the child will learn to be silent and endure, and then explode. nine0003

6 forbidden topics that you can’t discuss with strangers, otherwise expect trouble by inheritance
The phrase “nepo baby” gained a lot of popularity at the end of 2022 and even became the subject of a separate issue of New York Magazine – all thanks to the debate on social networks about whether the popularity of parents affects the successful career of their children. Forbes Life tells how a new branch of nepotism in the media industry works their loved ones. Thus, from the very beginning of the 20th century, entire dynasties were formed, in which each new generation connected its life with the film industry. Some of these examples are the Baldwin and Skarsgaard brothers, and the Barrymore and Coppola families. At the end of 2022, social media users drew attention to this interesting “hereditary” detail: based on their discussions, Vulture journalists created a visual “non-universe” of modern stars who took their places in Hollywood not only due to talent, but also, apparently , fame and connections of their parents. nine0003
The Hollywood Nepo-Verse illustrated guide was created by graphic designer and deputy art director of New York Magazine, Suzanne Hayward. According to her, the development of the universe took several months – in order to visualize a schematic world of 500 people, it took the entire editorial staff, including writing authors, editors and heads of entire departments. Creating visual content, Hayward and her colleagues simplified the complex idea of the non-universe to a minimum: “We decided to make a family tree for each “non-child”, designed as if it were taken from an animal world or history textbook and at the same time remained scientific, educational,” says the designer. The final result really looks like a classic family tree made by a child: the faces of the stars that got into the “universe” seem to be cut out of paper, and each of them is accompanied by a brief biography of a celebrity and her family. nine0003 Screenshot of the Hollywood Nepo-Verse guide
Almost immediately after its publication, “the Universe” became the basis for hundreds of memes, but the competition in the sharpness of humor in social networks is not the only consequence of the scrupulous work of journalists. Their investigation into celebrity relationships includes many Hollywood actors, including prestigious award nominees and up-and-coming young stars, whose films and series collect millions of dollars and hours of viewing on streaming. All this has led to a broad conversation about a more serious problem: is there a place in the film industry for people without connections, or is it already taken by the heirs of acting dynasties? nine0003

“In an industry built on reboots, a well-known last name can be valuable intellectual property,” writes Vulture journalist and non-universe co-creator Nate Jones. In his opinion, celebrity children are “an easy marketing ploy”, which inevitably gives popularity to film projects in social networks and, as a result, at the box office. Jones also emphasizes that in modern Internet culture the very concept of “non-child” can be blurred – and in this regard, he suggests looking at the phenomenon of hereditary nepotism as a spectrum or pyramid, consisting of three parts. nine0003
At their peak, according to Jones, are the children of stars – the heirs of famous acting families, who decided to continue the professional dynasty. Among them are Dakota Johnson (Fifty Shades of Grey, daughter of actress Melanie Griffith), Maya Hawke (Robin from Stranger Things and Linda from Tarantino’s Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, Uma Thurman’s daughter) and Jack Quaid (known from the films ” The Hunger Games” and the TV series “The Boys”, the son of acting couple Meg Ryan and Dennis Quaid). Next come those who were helped to succeed by the connections of their parents, even if they were not quite known to the general public. In this category, Jones includes the star of the comedy series “Girls” from HBO Lena Dunham and Kristen Stewart, who played Princess Diana in Pablo Lorraine’s hit movie “Spencer”. The children of “very” rich parents close this three – for example, Paris Hilton, who never became the heiress of the Hilton hotel chain, but thanks to her family’s media exposure and privileged status, has built a successful career and is recognized as a symbol of the pop culture of the zero. nine0003
However, the list of non-children is actually much wider than the examples given by the journalist: these are Zoe Kravitz (daughter of singer Lenny Kravitz), and Kate Hudson (adoptive daughter of Kurt Russell), as well as Jamie Lee Curtis (daughter of actors Janet Leigh and Tony Curtis) and Gwyneth Paltrow, whose parents are actress and two-time Emmy winner Blythe Danner and producer Bruce Paltrow. By the way, several non-children can be seen at once in the anthology series American Horror Story, which starred Emma Roberts, Billy Lourd and Lily Rabe. For example, Roberts is the niece of Pretty Woman star Julia Roberts, Lourdes is the daughter of Carrie Fisher, who played Princess Leia in the iconic Star Wars, and Reib’s parents are actress Jill Clayberg and playwright David Rabe. nine0003 Timothée Chalamet’s entire family is connected in one way or another with the film business (Photo by AP·TASS)
Among the young stars, Timothée Chalamet also managed to get into the list of nepo babies, the attention to which has grown sharply after an unsuccessful tweet by his agent Brian Swordstrom. The rep publicly denied rumors that Chalamet was casting for a role in the sequel to Gladiator — and at the same time said that the 27-year-old Oscar nominee “has not participated in auditions for seven years.” This statement caused a wide resonance: social media users studied the biography of the young actor and found out that almost all of his family is somehow connected with the film business: uncle Chalamet is director Rodman Flender, maternal grandfather is writer and screenwriter Harold Flender, and mother, Nicole Flender , acted in films back in the nineties. According to critics, Uncle Timothy’s profession “opens many doors for him” in the industry, and Hollywood itself “treats him in a special way” – in particular, it gives privileges through connections, thanks to which Chalamet, unlike lesser-known actors, does not even have to participate in auditions for any role. nine0003

Heredity is not a panacea
The issue of nepotism, at least in relation to the children of star parents, became truly relevant at the end of 2022 – and this is not an accident. The boom of streaming services, releasing dozens of series and films every year, many of which become hits in the first weeks after the premiere (one example is “Emily in Paris” starring Lily Collins, also called not a child), inevitably affects agenda of contemporary culture. It, in turn, is now more visible and accessible than ever thanks to social networks and the Internet, which have become new platforms for its global and horizontal discussion – all this, given the openness of data, makes old problems, like the same nepotism in cinema, more understandable and therefore discussed . nine0003
Sometimes the Internet debate even goes too far – and not everyone is as lucky as Timothée Chalamet, whose loyal fan base outshone the critics and whose defense of the actor saved him from having to refute the allegations. So, the public caught Lily-Rose Depp, daughter of Johnny Depp and supermodel Vanessa Paradis, in nepotism: the girl starred in several films and at the age of 16 managed to become the face of the Chanel brand – and the last achievement became a trigger for Internet users. In their opinion, Depp, who is now in her early twenties, achieved such success not due to skills or talent, but due to popularity and the connections of her father and mother. For Lily-Rose herself, such accusations, as she notes in an interview, are puzzling: “heredity,” she assures, does not affect what profession a person decides to do and how good he will be in it. “If someone’s parents are doctors and their child also becomes a doctor, no one will blame him for the fact that he received his specialty thanks to mom and dad,” Depp argues, also noting that for many professions, despite connections, it is necessary experience and education, and nepotism tends to be blamed more on women than on men. nine0003 Actress Vanessa Paradis and her daughter Lily-Rose Depp before the presentation of the Chanel spring-summer 2021 collection (AP TASS photo) skills of an individual. The popularity of parents rather gives impetus to a quick start – this is also mentioned by Nate Jones: children with well-known surnames have several attempts to start their own career, even when they have no skills at all, and not always from the very bottom. One such example is Brooklyn, the son of David and Victoria Beckham: for 23 years, the young man managed to work as a bartender, cook, football player, model and even a writer, and although each of his new attempts to find himself and do something significant attracts the attention of social networks and a huge fan base, it usually ends in failure – but there is always a spare chance to try something else, thanks to the connections of the parents and their capital. Those who start from scratch and do not have an airbag in the form of parents from the modeling or film business, whose name has been on the covers of glossy media for decades, do not have such input data. nine0003

Dislike
“We love them, we hate them, we don’t respect them, we adore them” – with this motto, Vulture journalists raised the problem of nepotism to an objectively new level of discussion, in which hatred and love for the children of the rich and famous finally mixed up . The very existence of non-children, however, is not so much a problem as a reminder of the inequality of opportunities in the modern world and, consequently, different conditions for starting an independent career. While some are forced to achieve success on their own, relying only on their own skills and luck, non-children often do not even have to think about it: they have not only money and connections, but also the opportunity to grow up in an “exclusive space” in direct contact with those who can become their role model and give clues in their future career. nine0003
The problematic of nepotism in the modern media industry is connected not only with debates in social networks, but also with the behavior of the star children themselves: often, instead of taking their own privileges seriously, they try to hide them or even present them as an additional life test. For example, Kendall Jenner went this way, saying that she was prevented from building a career in the modeling business by participating in the reality show Keeping Up With the Kardashians, which in a few years became a full-fledged family media product with a multi-million audience. Others, having received the title of not a child, are trying to completely earn a new audience from this, deliberately attracting attention, like model Hailey Bieber, the niece of actor Alec Baldwin, who put on a T-shirt with the inscription “Nepo Baby” and got into the lenses of photojournalists. nine0003 Hailey Bieber in a ‘Nepo Baby’ T-shirt (Photo by Rachpoot Bauer-Griffin GC Images) it was impossible to liquidate the industry with one denial or ridicule – and it is unlikely that it will be possible to do this in general, given that this tradition appeared practically along with Hollywood itself and other epicenters of mass culture, and the phenomenon itself arose even earlier. Despite this, non-children still cause a mixed reaction from the public. A universal answer to this question can be considered the position of The Culture Paper journalist Phoebe Igoroff, who considered that the concept of “nepo baby” in itself ceases to be “just a term”. “Calling someone a non-child is our way of venting our dissatisfaction with systems of power in which some are privileged and others are oppressed,” writes Igoroff, convinced that the public sees in non-children an easy success story, to which everyone aspires and which for many, for various reasons, remains inaccessible – unless, of course, he has good connections.

In the Central Khazan of the Ziminsky district, they plan to build a new kindergarten
Kindergarten “Yolochka” in Central Khazan. Photo by the press service of the government of the region
In the village of Central Khazan, Ziminsky district, Irkutsk region, it is planned to build a new kindergarten for 90 seats The village has already prepared design estimates and received a positive conclusion from the state expertise. The idea of residents during a working trip to the municipality was supported by the governor of the region Igor Kobzev, the press service of the regional government reports.
The operating kindergarten “Yolochka” was erected by the Khazan timber industry enterprise in 1987. The depreciation of the object was estimated at 87%. With a design capacity of 35 people, it is attended by 53 children, in addition, the institution does not meet modern requirements: it does not have music and sports halls.
Igor Kobzev: — Every locality has issues related to the social sphere. And the village is no exception. We see that there is a need for preschool places. There is a project. He instructed the relevant ministries to work out the issue of building a new kindergarten in 2024-2025.
The head of the region also visited vocational school No. 39 and talked with students. In 2023, the school will become a structural subdivision of the Sayan Chemical-Technological College. Now the training of the middle link is carried out according to nine programs. The governor was told that the institution had problems with catering, as a fire destroyed the canteen last year.
Igor Kobzev: — Instructed the regional Ministry of Construction and the Ministry of Education to work out the issue of the need to build a modular catering facility. After the discussion, we will make a decision on the possibility and timing of the work.

State Budgetary Preschool Educational Institution Kindergarten No. 22 of the Nevsky District of St. Petersburg
Dear visitors of our site!
Welcome to Kindergarten No. 22 of the Nevsky district
St. Petersburg!
Our educational institution has been operating in a new innovative format since 2022. Changes occurred due to the reorganization of 3 institutions into one. The reorganization of institutions contributes to the spread of positive educational practices and the qualitative improvement of education. Kindergarten No. 22, which has a long history, was joined by 2 more institutions with their rich accumulated pedagogical experience. Now these are 3 buildings of one educational institution – GBDOU kindergarten No. 22 of the Nevsky district.
All 3 institutions were opened in the Nevsky district more than 60 years ago. Building 1 (kindergarten No. 22) – is distinguished by a high level of professional approach to teaching preschoolers and correcting deficiencies in their speech development. The premises of the kindergarten are located in a residential building, comfortable conditions for education and upbringing are created for children, teachers implement educational program of preschool education, adapted for students with disabilities (with severe speech disorders).
Building 2 (Kindergarten No. 41) is a separate building that opened its doors to pupils in 1958. The hallmark of Korus 2 Kindergarten is a reliable, friendly, open to innovation and dedicated team. Since 1998, the first groups for children with severe speech disorders have been opened, which function to this day. Since 2022, two groups of building 2 have been carrying out educational activities according to an adapted educational program for children with disabilities (with a complex defect).
Building 3 (Kindergarten No. 137) was once focused on the smallest pupils – young children. As a nursery, the institution has been functioning since 1961, and in 1991 it was given the number 137 and a new status – a kindergarten, in which the institution worked until 2022.
The reorganization of institutions made it possible to combine all the best achievements of the three teams, to create a productive synthesis, without losing teachers with their culture, traditions and values in the models of upbringing and education of preschoolers. Modernization of the GBDOU is aimed at the transition from uniformity to a flexible, multifunctional system for providing services to children of preschool age
Our kindergarten is warm and cozy. Comfortable conditions have been created in all buildings for children: spacious educational and play rooms, speech therapy rooms, toilet rooms, dressing rooms and bedrooms. All buildings have a music and sports hall, medical, procedural, methodical rooms and other rooms. Pupils of three buildings of the institution are prize-winners and diploma winners of various creative competitions, actively participate in the social life of the region and the city, together with their parents participate in promotions and general garden events. The administration and teachers of the kindergarten protect the traditions that have developed over the years in the upbringing and education of children – this is respect for the personality of the child, an individual approach, the creation of optimal conditions for development and learning, comfort and home environment for each pupil.

List of stationery for school for grade 1 – a list of necessary stationery for a first grader
Preparing a future first grader for school is an important, exciting and very pleasant stage in a child’s life. Packs of beautiful, delicious-smelling notebooks, a large bright backpack, packages of pencils, felt-tip pens, plasticine and many more interesting and attractive items appear in the house. The process of choosing all this wealth brings great pleasure to the future student and the same huge headache to his parents.
What does a first grader really need to buy?
How to choose reliable and high-quality school supplies, while not buying anything extra and preparing everything you need by September 1st? A few useful tips will not interfere even with experienced parents, not to mention those who are bringing their child to school for the first time. Consider what will definitely be needed during the educational process, and what you can do without.
A future teacher will provide invaluable assistance in preparation: teachers often give parents a list of necessary supplies that every student should have. In addition, it is advisable to ask the teacher if a special uniform for children is needed, or if you can get by with the traditional “white top and black bottom” option.
The main difficulty for parents is that today schools have a certain freedom of choice in the organization of the educational process. Of course, the programs are approved by the relevant ministry, but the educational institution decides on its own which textbooks and workbooks the children will use. As a rule, parents buy school uniforms and the necessary allowances together, having collected the necessary amount for this. But otherwise, a certain freedom of choice remains. So, let’s consider which office should get into the first grader’s backpack.
We took care of you and compiled a complete list of clothes and stationery for a young student by September 1!

Choosing stationery for school together with your child
Sometimes caring parents decide everything themselves – they choose clothes, buy notebooks and school stuff, guided only by their own taste. As a result, the kid is disappointed at school before he even starts studying, just putting stupid notebooks with kittens on the cover into a stupid satchel of an unpleasant color – and he really wanted notebooks with racing cars to be bought!
The main function of childhood is preparation for adult, independent life. But how can your child become an independent person when you do not even let him choose the covers for notebooks of his own liking? Going for stationery, be sure to take your future first grader with you and listen to his opinion when choosing notebooks, a pencil case, book covers and other little things. If you think his choice is wrong, try to explain why you should not buy this particular thing. As a last resort, if you can’t convince him, buy both items, but try not to make a decision against his wishes.
List of stationery in a pencil case for a 1st grade student
To make sure you buy everything you need, make a list of school stationery in advance, based on the teacher’s recommendations. Typically, this list includes the following items.
Writing pens
Habits formed in childhood will stay with your child for life. In order for the baby to develop a beautiful, clear handwriting, the pen should lie comfortably in his fingers. We advise:
buy several identical simple pens with a cap, without unnecessary decorations and intricate details;
refuse to buy an automatic pen with a spring latch that distracts the child from classes;
prefer rubber-coated handles that are comfortable to hold in your fingers;
choose quality rods that do not leak and do not smear the paste;
if the child does everything with his left hand, buy special handles for left-handers.
Please note that children often lose their pens, forget them in class, break them, etc. For your first school year, you’ll need at least a dozen blue-tipped pens.
In addition, it is advisable to put two pens with colored ink – red and green – into the pencil case. And also to have a few more pens of this color in stock, because, as practice shows, everything that is in the pencil case of first-graders is regularly lost.
Pencils
A first grader needs a simple medium hard pencil marked TM or HB. You should not spend money on buying an expensive collet pencil – usually children quickly break or lose them. Rubber-tipped pencils can only be a practical solution if the eraser is of good quality and able to erase the lines without smearing or damaging the paper.
Also take at least a dozen pencils in reserve, so that two pieces are always present in the pencil case.
Erasers
The main quality of a good eraser is softness: this eraser perfectly removes pencil marks and does not damage the paper. Avoid bright erasers, especially blue or red ones, as they can leave color streaks on the paper. It is best to choose a simple white or gray elastic band of medium size: small ones are uncomfortable to hold in your fingers and very easy to lose.
Pencil sharpener
Even the most expensive and high-quality pencils break from time to time, so a sharpener should always be in a briefcase. It is advisable to choose a small one so that you can put it in a pencil case. The presence of a container for chips is a prerequisite. Children often brush shavings right on the floor, and by the end of the school day, the classroom becomes unsightly. Teach your child to throw the shavings in the trash after sharpening a pencil.
Ruler
Teachers advise a first-grader to choose a ruler that fits easily in a pencil case and will not slip on the paper. The optimal ruler length is 15-20 cm. Wooden models are more durable than plastic ones. The low flexibility of wood is also a virtue to a certain extent, since flexible plastic is often used by naughty, to put it mildly, for other purposes – for shooting chewed paper and other school fun.
Colored pencils
Colored pencil sets are usually sold in cardboard or plastic boxes for easy storage and use. But when such a box wears out, children put pencils in a regular pencil case, which is not always convenient. You can buy a special pencil case or box for them. It is most convenient to buy two identical sets of 6 or 12 pencils, so that one always lies in the briefcase, and the second is used for homework.
In our online store you can buy any stationery that is necessary for both a 1st grade student and older students.

Filled pencil case – perfect for a first grader
If you don’t want to choose stationery items separately, you can simplify the process of buying stationery by choosing a convenient pencil case with ready-made filling. It already contains pens, pencils, felt-tip pens and other items that the child will need at school.
We bring to your attention future students of the first grades and their parents a convenient and capacious one-compartment pencil case manufactured by Maped. The pencil case is sold in four versions:
Karate;
“Fairy”;
“Princess”;
Jungle.
The first model is mainly aimed at boys, the second and third are designed for girls, and the fourth is decorated in a neutral style. The design and internal filling of all models are the same. The case is made of dense, easy-to-wash synthetic fabric and is fastened with a zipper. When unzipped, it pops open like a book, revealing two inner liners made of soft yet durable plastic.
The pencil case for first-graders contains all the stationery necessary for school: writing pens, pencils, colored pencils, felt-tip pens, a small ruler and two squares, an eraser and a sharpener. Office supplies are located in elastic loops. When the pencil case is opened, all its contents are visible, and the child can quickly take out any item that is needed at the moment, and put it into the appropriate loop after use. Constantly using the pencil case, the child gets used to keep their school supplies in order.
what kind of stationery is needed for drawing lessons
The development of artistic perception, fantasy and a sense of beauty is an important part of the educational process. It is important to prepare your child for drawing lessons by purchasing the necessary supplies.
Album. Two 40-sheet albums are enough for a first grader for the whole academic year. It is better to choose albums in which the sheets are held on a spring. They are strong enough and do not crumble during use, at the same time, the sheet can be easily torn out without damaging the rest of the contents.
Markers. The optimal set size is 12 colors. One package is enough for a year, but you should choose quality products that will not leak and do not dry out too quickly. The new vibrant Monsters range is perfect for the budding artist: a blocked nib, doesn’t dry out without a cap, and washes off most fabrics. And the bright monstrous design will not leave indifferent not only children, but also adults.
Water bottle. You will need one jar with a non-spill lid to keep the water from splashing all over the classroom.
palette. If the child does not draw additionally, one plastic palette is enough for him, which is easily washed from paint with ordinary water.
List of supplies for labor lessons
Color paper set. You can buy several different types, including those with velvet and foil sheets, but among them you definitely need one regular set of colored sheets.
Cardboard. It is necessary to stock up on white and colored cardboard for school crafts.
Scissors. For safety reasons, choose scissors with rounded tips.
Adhesive. Most likely, you will need two types of glue: dry, in the form of a pencil, and a bottle of ordinary PVA, to which do not forget to attach a brush with synthetic bristles.
Plasticine. A set of 10-12 colors is enough.
In addition to the above items, teachers are often asked to give the child a piece of oilcloth or a small board so as not to stain the desk while drawing and modeling. In addition, sleeves and an apron are in order to keep the clothes clean.
What portfolio does a 1st grade student need
As a rule, today’s schoolchildren prefer a comfortable and light backpack that can be carried in the hand or thrown on the back by putting the hands through the straps. A backpack helps to maintain posture and avoid curvature of the spine, so the model you choose must meet a number of requirements:
be made of light, but very durable and moisture resistant material;
have an orthopedic back – rigid, with soft padding;
with wide shoulder straps with soft inserts that do not rub the shoulders and a waist strap;
with the ability to adjust the straps for height;
with several compartments: a large one for textbooks, a smaller one for notebooks, pockets for stationery and other small items;
with reflective elements to keep your child safe on the road.
It is important that the width of the briefcase does not exceed the width of the first grader’s shoulders. Do not buy a backpack without trying it on, be sure to put it on your child, put a load inside and ask them to evaluate the comfort of the straps. Treat this purchase very carefully, because the portfolio that you choose will be used by the child for a whole year, and possibly next year.
List of office supplies to school ᐈ What you need to go to school – list to school
List of office supplies to school is one of the tasks that responsible parents begin to solve long before the start of the school year.
Some schools and individual teachers provide their recommended list of office supplies, which can be found on the school website or clarified at the parent-teacher meeting. But, it is equally important to take into account the wishes and characteristics of your child.
YES is a brand of school stationery and accessories that always makes sure that your child has all the necessary items: high-quality, modern and attractive. We have prepared a list of office supplies that will help you get your child ready for school in advance, without haste.
After reading this article, contact our partners to purchase the items on your list. The official website of YES will make shopping for school comfortable and fast, thanks to a large assortment.
Which backpack should a student choose?
The list of school shopping is of course crowned by the question: which backpack is suitable for your girl or boy? After all, he should please the student for at least one academic year.
The briefcase is an important purchase for school. It should be appropriate for the age of the child and his needs. Depending on the class of the student, the content will vary significantly. If in the 1st and 2nd grade this is a small number of notebooks and textbooks, then after a couple of years the child has more extra classes and new subjects. Consequently, the list of what you need to go to school for the 5th grade will be much wider.
The main criteria for choosing a backpack:
material – the requirements for the fabric are very high, it must be durable, wear-resistant, with good seams. The material should be quickly and easily washed off, as it is used constantly. The bottom of the briefcase and the back should have seals so that it is convenient to put it on the floor and the notebooks inside do not wrinkle;
a sufficient number of compartments – usually at least three: for notebooks and books, a pencil case, a lunch box and removable shoes, for example;
design – a briefcase, like other goods for school, must be chosen with the child, as it helps children express their individuality, which is extremely important at any age. Give your child the opportunity to choose the color and picture of the accessory that will accompany him throughout the year.
Here we have indicated only the basic criteria, in more detail you can get acquainted with the features of choosing a portfolio such as handles, orthopedic backrest, etc. on the YES website in the article about portfolios.
Stationery list for school
Pencil case – how to choose
The list of what you need for school includes many organizers. A pencil case is a favorite accessory for girls and boys, it should fit pens, pencils and other necessary little things. Girls love pencil cases for their spaciousness. You can even hide rubber bands or cute “notes” from school friends in it. And boys prefer more strict and brutal models, on which you can stick stickers or show off cool superhero prints.
But the pencil case should be not only beautiful, but above all functional. There are several types of pencil cases that are suitable for both first-graders and older students.
pencil case-book with a bright pattern and the ability to put all the writing materials in their places – what a child needs in the 1st grade. Such pencil cases are produced in different sizes and designs, you can easily find an option that will satisfy both mother and child.
for school in grade 8, a pencil case-beauty bag or a pencil case-tube is perfect. They are compact, easy to use and also very stylish;
wooden retro-cases, or metal ones, are made in the form of a box with a sliding lid. For true connoisseurs of order and original stationery.
Writing utensils – write a list and buy with pleasure
The shopping list for school for the 9th grade is simplified by the fact that an adult teenager knows which pen or pencil suits him best, but a kid cannot cope with such a choice on his own. Pens and pencils in the first grade are very important – they help form handwriting. It is important to choose writing instruments that are comfortable to hold so that the child’s hand, which is not used to this type of activity, is less tired.
A ballpoint pen should be chosen, they develop the hand better.
Take pens and pencils with a margin, already in the first month of study, something may break or get lost.
Take a black graphite hard-soft pencil, denoted by the letters TM or HB.
Add some colored ballpoint pens to blue ballpoint pens to make your lesson notes clearer and more interesting.
When choosing a pen for a first grader, consider the recommendations:
the best shape is triangular, not too thick, but not thin;
rubber insert to avoid slipping;
oil pens leave clear lines even with light pressure;
pay attention to the shade, and also that the paste does not smear;
pens with toys may interest the child to practice more often with their favorite accessory;
it is not recommended to use “write-erase” pens in order to develop accuracy at the initial stage. But already after the 6th grade, it can become an excellent assistant in the educational process.
Notebooks – the main list for grade 1
Criteria for choosing notebooks for first graders:
cover density – the notebook should not be torn and wrinkled, and, of course, be pleasant for the child to use;
paper color and weight – choose white coated paper, without gray and yellow shades;
number of sheets – here you can consult with school teachers: they usually buy thin notebooks for lower grades, and thicker bulky notebooks for older ones;
ruler or cage – clear lines, the presence of margins are important;
design – let your child choose the cover of their choice.
Which notebooks should be purchased for the first grade:
checkered notebooks for 12 sheets;
oblique notebooks, 12 sheets;
12-sheet wide line notebooks.
Along with notebooks, it is convenient to have a folder for them and a diary – such things are necessary for school without fail. The folder will help to carefully save the student’s notebooks from creases and wrinkling.
Art class supplies
In secondary school, from the 8th grade, many new subjects are added to the curriculum, including drawing. Preparing for this lesson is always especially enjoyable, because children love to express themselves through creativity. Here is the minimum list for school drawing lessons:
watercolors or gouache;
sketchbook;
round tip brushes;
colored pencils;
water cup.
Paints can be from 6 to 12 colors, it is better to choose an album from thick white paper. For drawing lessons, you will also need soft simple pencils, an eraser, a sharpener, all this can be easily placed in a pencil case.
Brushes must be selected in different sizes, preferably from natural bristles. Pay attention to the brushes numbered 3, 6 and 8.
To keep the workplace clean, you need to buy a film for the table, a palette for mixing paints, and cosmetic wipes. Additionally, you can buy felt-tip pens and markers for different types of lessons. For drawing with watercolors, you need thick paper, for pencils and felt-tip pens – thin and smooth.
Items for the lesson of labor
The required list for school also includes items for the lesson of labor. In the process of learning, their list may be adjusted, depending on the tasks, however, the main list of the school office for a labor lesson looks like this:
glue stick or PVA;
A4 colored cardboard set;
A4 colored paper set;
safety scissors;
ruler;
eraser;
plasticine and modeling board.
Consider purchasing an apron and sleeves, as well as table wrap, to keep your child’s school uniform clean. Accessories for labor lessons can be purchased individually or in sets that include everything you need.
Additionally for first-graders
What does the list of stationery for grade 1 consist of? Do not forget about additional accessories that are sure to come in handy for elementary school students.
We offer additional consideration of the following items:
counting sticks for mathematics lessons;
sets of numbers and letters as visual material for study;
bookends;
bookmarks for books.
This includes a bag for a change of shoes, a bottle for water, a lunch box. All these items will help the child learn to be neat, and you will keep the backpack and school uniform clean and durable.
Additional accessories
If the list of stationery for grade 1 is quite typical for any school, then the stationery for grade 11 will already be compiled taking into account the preferences of a teenager.
These additional accessories can be:
personal notebook or diary;
tablet for additional reading or preparing for lessons;
flash drive for transferring the necessary training materials;
children’s smart watch.
Take a look at office supplies such as calculators, ruler sets and compasses for geometry lessons – this is also worth adding to the list of stationery for school
Workplace Arrangement
Gathering what you need for school is a laborious and costly process. In addition to the standard purchase of stationery, you need to prepare the child’s workplace. The main items you will need to set up your home study area are:
table;
chair;
table lamp;
shelves and box for books and school supplies.
Criteria for choosing a table:
adjustable tabletop height, as children grow quickly;
the possibility of fixing the tabletop at an angle;
the correct height of the tabletop – if the elbows are on the table, the fingertips reach the temples;
two-level work surface for changing sitting/standing posture, it is good for both posture and concentration.
Next, we choose a chair – the most important element, since the child’s spine is still being formed. So, what is the ideal chair for a little schoolboy:
anatomical model with a back;
chair height adjustment;
without wheels, stable and durable;
additionally worth buying a footrest;
Choose a Z-shaped chair base or a chair with one leg that is difficult to “swing”.
In addition to the table and chair, arrange shelves and cabinets for your child’s stationery. Consider an additional hook for a backpack. If space permits, you can place a small board for the schedule or useful stickers with hints and reminders.
Proper lighting is an important and necessary element. In addition to the main light, be sure to take care of a table lamp. It is also nice when the desktop is located by a window with natural light. The light of the lamp and the main light should fall from the left if the child is right-handed, and vice versa.

New kindergartens and a school appeared in the Yuryevets microdistrict of the city of Vladimir. But so far, only in the planning draft
The authorities of the capital of the Vladimir region have begun a public discussion of adjustments to the draft planning of the ARRIAH territory with an area of 130 hectares. In the future, new skyscrapers, private houses, as well as kindergartens, a school, sports and shopping centers may appear there
Administration of the city of Vladimir
launched an absentee public discussion of adjustments to the draft planning of quarters No. 6, No. 9and No. 10 in the Yuryevets microdistrict. We are talking about building a vacant area of 130 hectares to the west of the Institute town, between Vsesvyatskaya and Slavnaya streets, behind the residential high-rise buildings of Monostroy on Gvardeiskaya Street.
According to the documentation, a quarter of the site area is allocated for the construction of residential buildings: 11 hectares for high-rise buildings, 30 hectares for individual houses and mid-rise houses. More than 7 thousand people will live in the microdistrict. Another 2.14 hectares of land are laid out for kindergartens with a total capacity of 540 places, 3.46 hectares for a school designed for 1,110 students.
nine0003
Separately, the project mentions the improvement of the territory. A little more than 6 hectares are allocated for landscaping – laying out the square, more than 27 hectares – for the ARRIAH sanitary protection zone. Over 40 hectares have been allocated for transport needs – for parking and garage boxes with a total capacity of almost 4,000 cars, as well as roads and a race track.
The microdistrict provides for various shops, services, places for recreation of citizens. Thus, the project documentation mentions dry cleaning, bank branches, a swimming pool, a pharmacy, a children’s and youth sports school, a clinic, a sports and leisure center and a shopping center, as well as an open area, which “is intended for mass events by residents of the quarters. ”
nine0003
The main streets of the microdistrict will be Vsesvyatskaya and one more, named in the documentation “Projected 1”. They must ensure the maintenance of the public area – by them, parents will take their children to school and kindergartens. New York City is quite a child-centric city and accordingly it has numerous day care centers for infants & young children. The NYC department of Health and Daycare Bureau has strict guidelines that govern the operation of these centers. Centers also need to be licensed by the New York State Family and Children Services before they can begin operations and accept children.
Some of the highly ranked and popular daycare centers in New York City include:
Lil’Thinkers (http://lilthinkersfamilydaycare.org/) 610 W 141st Street New York, NY 10031 Phone: +1 347 688 1498 This day center, which is located in a private home on the west side of Manhattan, offers a daycare program for children aged 6 months to three years. Its program includes art, music as well as sign language and Kinder music. Rates vary with age of the child and the program chosen.
The Manhattan Kids Club New York 21 East 13th St #1 New York, NY 10003-4405 Phone: +1 212 741 3774 This day care accepts children aged three months up to the age of two years and offers full day programs which are available two, three, or even five days a week, starting from 7:30am to 6pm. The day care also provides hot lunch, morning and afternoon snacks and diapers. It is manned by a staff that is made up of trained, licensed professionals. Monthly prices for its programs range from $800 for two days a week to $1,500 for five days a week.
The Bright Horizons Company (http://www.brighthorizons.com) also operates a number of day care centers in several parts of the city. The charges for programs at these various centers vary with the age of the child as well as the program that is chosen.
Mother and Toddler Groups
The Gymboree Company (http://www.gymboreeclasses.com) is a recognized leader in classes for children and it offers mother and toddler playgroups at several of its locations in New York City. Classes usually include games, music and singing and play gyms. A 17 week program at a Gymboree center is currently priced at $1500 and this does not include the $50 initiation fee which is payable by new members.
The 14th Street Y (http://www. 14streety.org/) as well as the 92nd Y (http://www.92y.org/) also offer mother and toddler groups. These classes have programs that offer development of motor skills, art, music and signing. Classes at both these organizations are available to both members and non- members. Details of current prices are available on the websites of both these organizations.
This by no means a comprehensive list of all the child care and early learning centers that are available in New York City. The city is equipped with numerous such centers which are located in all its five boroughs. Go City Kids (http://gocitykids.parentsconnect.com), which a valuable resource for parents in New York City, has a directory of child care and early learning centers which are located in every borough of New York City.
Nannies
Nannies (both live-in and live-out) are a common feature in New York City especially in the borough Manhattan. New York City moms who work full time often rely on full time nannies to look after their offspring. These nannies are expected to work approximately 55 hours a week and generally tend to work from Monday to Friday or from Tuesday to Saturday as they are expected to have two days off in a week. Most people prefer to employ nannies, who have a legal status i.e. who have the right to work in the US.
New Yorkers who can afford to employ a live-out nanny currently pay approximately $650 a week as wages. The IRS or the Internal Revenue Service (http://www.irs.gov/) requires all employers to file payroll taxes for nannies who receive more than $1700 (2009) cash wages in a calendar year. This tax is popularly known as Nanny Tax though many employers choose to employ nannies ‘off the books’.
Popular sources for nannies are the various listings which can be found on the web sites of organizations like the Parents League of New York(http://www.parentsleague.org/), Go City Kids (http://gocitykids.parentsconnect.com/region/new-york-ny-usa) and even the popular classified site (http://www. craigslist.org), the New York City edition. Also see our Domestic Help > Housekeeper Section for agencies that help place nannies.

increased level of comfort. The privileges of living in a sky-class residential complex

Developed infrastructure
kindergartens – make living in the residential complex “Manhattan” comfortable and carefree
Safe area
Security is one of the key principles of the Manhattan residential complex, because all the conditions for its provision have already been created here: underground parking, a closed area equipped with barriers and security posts, concierge service at each entrance and access in the “only for own” format
Underground parking with an elevator to the apartment
Two-level warm underground parking relieve the owners of apartments in the complex from problems with warming up the car. From any level of the parking lot, you can immediately go up to the apartment, bypassing the cold zone and drafts
Functional and varied layouts
In the residential complex “Manhattan” you can design an apartment yourself, guided by your tastes and family habits. Make a kitchen-living room or a separate dining room, allocate an office or a wide nursery – any desire becomes a reality
Beautiful view from the windows on the lights of the big city and also to the pine park, just like the Central Park in New York
Architectural space for living
Front doors in the Manhattan residential complex
The spacious space is illuminated by wide windows. Soft sofas, tables, vases with ornamental plants create a cozy homely atmosphere. Opening the door, the Chelyabinsk citizen gets from the industrial metropolis into the atmosphere of New York. It is not for nothing that each front door is decorated with a huge image of the famous city.
Modern underground parking Parking in the Manhattan residential complex occupies two levels. You can get here either from the street, walking along the beautiful, landscaped courtyard, or by taking the elevator from your floor. When it rains or frosts outside the window, the owners do not have to leave the house once again. From any level of the parking lot, you can immediately go up to the apartment, bypassing the cold zone and drafts.
Test drive: underground parking in the residential complex Manhattan
Security throughout the complex Life in the Manhattan residential complex is guarded around the clock by 17 cameras that vigilantly monitor your safety. They are located in different parts of the complex: in the underground parking, inside and outside the houses and on playgrounds. The record is stored on the server and is available at the request of the owners and law enforcement agencies. According to the project, about 50 video surveillance cameras will be installed on the territory of the entire Manhattan residential complex.

In Chelyabinsk, in densely populated microdistricts in the northwest, two more kindergartens have appeared. Institutions at 290 and 300 seats opened in Manhattan and Riverside Academy. This was reported in the press service of the mayor’s office.
Children from one and a half years old were accepted by a kindergarten at 11 Geroya Yakovlev Street in the Manhattan Residential Complex.
