90,000 Another case of child abuse: again Nazareth. Details: Israel News
Police arrested a kindergarten teacher from Nazareth on suspicion of abusing toddlers.
This was reported on the morning of December 7 by the press service of the police. A criminal case against the teacher was initiated on the basis of complaints from the parents. The police were also presented with audio recordings from the kindergarten, which testified to cruel and abusive treatment.
The teacher was summoned to the police station for interrogation, as a result of which she was detained. In the morning, the police took her to the Magistrate’s Court in Nazareth for an extension of her detention.
This is not the first such incident in Nazareth. As the Details website has already said, in July of this year, a 50-year-old teacher from Nazareth was detained on suspicion of abusing toddlers. The police launched an investigation into the parents’ complaint. Parents of several children from this kindergarten came to the police at once and filed a complaint that the teacher, on their suspicion, regularly beats and pushes their children.
The policemen installed covert video surveillance of the teacher and after watching the video recordings from the cameras, they detained her. The recording clearly shows how she forces the children to sit in their places and at the same time beats them. After interrogation, the police took the caregiver to the Magistrate’s Court in Nazareth for an extension of her detention. But the court placed her under house arrest for four days. The investigation is ongoing.
Other cases of child abuse in kindergartens and nurseries
On October 21, , the District Court in Beer Sheva found Emilia Ostrovskaya, a teacher at the Disney Kindergarten in Ashkelon, guilty of multiple offenses of abuse and assault of helpless minors. The defendant confessed to the crime as part of a plea agreement. The amended indictment alleges that the caregiver, who was in charge of children between the ages of one and a half to two years old, systematically subjected them to physical and psychological abuse. Ostrovskaya was accused of pushing the babies, pulling them with force, lifting them into the air, and then throwing them onto the mattress from a considerable height. The defendant also yelled at the children, scolded them for any disobedience or deviation from the rules, and in some cases even beat the pupils until they started crying.
On July 7, , the police received a complaint against kindergarten teachers in Rosh HaAyin. The parents presented surveillance footage and claim that the children were beaten several times during the day. According to the materials of the case, the nannies shook and beat the kids of two or three years old while playing in the yard, while eating and even while sleeping.
On July 8, , the Lod District Court announced the punishment for Carmel Mauda, the owner of another nursery school in Rosh HaAyin called Baby Love. She was found guilty of child abuse. District Court Judge Ami Kobo sentenced the defendant to nine and a half years in prison and three more years of probation. In addition, Carmel Mauda must pay each of the ten victims 40,000 shekels of compensation.
Former caregiver found guilty on 17 counts of abuse of eleven children between three months and three years old. In the verdict, the judge indicated that “we are talking about a series of ongoing actions with great potential for causing suffering and harm to children, which include cruelty, intimidation, humiliation, punishment … At the same time, it was clear that the kids were completely helpless in front of the accused.” The prosecutor demanded a sentence for Mauda in the form of imprisonment for a period of 14 years. The nursery owner’s assistant was also found guilty on eight counts.
June 7, A 63-year-old resident of Ashdod was detained on suspicion of abusing a five-month-old girl. The woman worked as a nurse (nanny) at home and looked after this girl. After the woman was questioned, the police asked the court to extend her detention. The court granted the request.
On May 5, , the district court in Haifa sentenced nurse Sapir Cohen to one year and three months in prison, who was found guilty of 15 cases of abuse of children under her supervision in a nursery in Haifa. Following the verdict, the court allowed the publication of additional video footage from the nursery’s CCTV showing incidents of bullying.
On May 2, , Ashkelon Magistrate’s Court sentenced a teacher who beat a child in a kindergarten to eight months of community service.
