Child Care FAQs
The national typical hourly rate in 2022 is $20. 00 per hour for nannies and $17.50 for babysitters. Rates can vary based on the child care provider’s experience, certifications, employment status, and travel expenses. When calculating the cost of child care, you should also account for the number of children they’ll care for and additional responsibilities like household tasks or homework help. Learn more about how to set competitive rates for attracting the best babysitters.
The best way to find child care near you is to post a job detailing your needs on Sittercity, which will be shared with our community of available babysitters and nannies. We’ll notify you when child care providers apply to your job, and from there you can proceed with interviews, background checks, and reference checks so you can find the perfect fit for your family.
You can find experienced and passionate child care providers near you to provide the best care for your child, either in-home or virtually. Child care providers can help families with managing strict schedules, transportation to activities, homework help, last-minute coverage, date nights, and more. Whether you’re looking for full-time, part-time, live-in, or temporary care, you can count on Sittercity for finding passionate and experienced child care providers.
Families find trustworthy child care providers on Sittercity who are passionate about providing safe and enriching care for their children. Many providers report they are First Aid and CPR certified to provide the best care for your family. Babysitters and nannies have the option to complete regular background checks, and you can easily request a recent background check if they don’t have one or it is not recent. Families can also request to see professional references!
Our dedicated team also champions safety across our platform every day. Child care providers go through an identity verification process Berbix when registering an account. Some additional safety measures include Family Watchdog screening, babysitter and nanny reviews, and secure messaging.
Nannies and babysitters share the same primary responsibility of providing safe and enriching care for your child, but there are a few differences between them. Nannies are more commonly associated with regular work, whether full or part-time, offering daily or consistent care to a particular family. There are also several different types of nannies, including au pairs, house managers, doulas, live-in, and overnight nannies.
Babysitters, on the other hand, are typically hired for irregular or occasional work, either full or part-time. If you’re looking for last-minute care for date night, or the occasional few hours after school, a babysitter is a great best option.
Identifying the type and frequency of child care you’ll need is the best way to decide whether a babysitter or nanny is a better fit for your family.
Child care providers on Sittercity love providing enriching experiences for your children, and sharing their passions with them. They’re happy to participate in outdoor activities like sports, or indoor activities like music, baking, tutoring help, and art. Wherever your child’s interests lie, child care providers on Sittercity can engage them in a nurturing way.

Rocker and luxury lover. How Johnny Depp made money and then squandered his fortune0001
Life
05:09, 30 April 2022
9
min.
Jack Sparrow, Willy Wonka, Gellert Grindelwald – Johnny Depp has many bright roles known all over the world. The actor’s path to the highest echelons of Hollywood was full of unexpected twists and turns. He dreamed of becoming a rock star, but made a living selling ballpoint pens. It seemed that the dark times were over, and today Johnny is one of the highest paid actors. But protracted lawsuits with actress Amber Heard ruined his reputation and deprived him of multi-million dollar contracts. “The Secret” tells about the difficult life path of the actor and how his financial condition has changed in recent years.
Johnny Depp was born on June 9, 1963 in Owensboro (Kentucky, USA) and was the youngest of four children. The father of the future actor, John, worked as a civil engineer, and his mother, Betty, worked as a waitress. Conflicts constantly arose between spouses, and children became witnesses of quarrels.
Johnny’s childhood was overshadowed by constant moving. The family moved frequently due to their father’s work, but eventually settled in Florida. For a whole year, John and Betty lived in a motel with their children, as the father of the family could not find a job and buy a house. Due to frequent family problems, by the age of 12, Johnny was addicted to drugs, and three years later his parents divorced, and Betty married the writer Robert Palmer.
Failed rock musician
Like many teenagers, Johnny Depp dreamed of becoming a musician. In an interview with Rolling Stone magazine, he said that it was an uncle who played the guitar in church that awakened in him a passion for a musical instrument.
At age 12, Depp finally convinced his mother to buy him an electric guitar for $25, and then he did what he is ashamed of to this day: he stole a book of chords from a store. In a few days, Johnny mastered the guitar and at the age of 13 he became a member of the local “garage” band. Friends played at parties and even in nightclubs, where underage Johnny had to sneak.
At the age of 15, he left school in hopes of becoming a rock star. According to Depp, two weeks later he was knocking the thresholds of the educational institution to continue his studies, but the director advised him to follow his dream. And with the blessing of the director, Johnny began to look for work in the music industry. The young artist played in various small bands, and at the age of 17 he joined the musical group The Kids.
“We have had unrealistic opportunities. We played huge gigs opening for the Ramones, The Pretenders, Iggy Pop, the Stray Cats,” Depp recalled.
Of course, Florida is not a place where young musicians can become famous overnight. And in 1983 the team went to conquer Los Angeles. The path to fame was not easy, and in the City of Angels, the guys quickly ran out of money. Depp and his bandmates had to take on any job to pay for housing and food.
“
“Me and a couple of guys in the band were selling ink pens over the phone. We promised people a grandfather clock or a trip to Greece for the purchase. Oddly enough, this is my first acting experience. One day I had a character from the soap opera General Hospital stuck in my head, and I called people, introducing myself as the main character Edward Quartermain. A couple of times when I managed to persuade people to buy, they agreed only because they wanted to get a grandfather clock. And when the boss left, I told them: “Listen, do not buy these pens. The watch is made of corkboard. I am a thief, and we are ripping you off,” Johnny shared.
Acting career
In 1983, when 20-year-old Johnny first moved to Los Angeles, he met 25-year-old makeup artist Laurie Ellison (and subsequently married her). According to one version, the girl saw how her lover did not develop a career as a musician, and invited him to try his hand at cinema.
She introduced Johnny to her ex-boyfriend, actor Nicolas Cage, who had already starred in Fast Times at Ridgemont High, Rumble Fish and Peggy Sue Got Married. According to another version, Cage saw Depp apply for a job in a video store, and offered the guy his agent’s number. Anyway, Cage’s agent sent Johnny to the casting director for the upcoming A Nightmare on Elm Street. A small role opened the gates to the film industry for the young actor.
In 1985, the musical group Kids disbanded, as did the actor’s marriage to Laurie. Johnny is fully focused on his career. He starred in several television shows and in Oliver Stone’s Platoon, where he played an interpreter. The film received eight Oscar nominations.
Johnny approached his new activity with all seriousness and began to study acting, first at the Loft Studio, and then with a private master. The lessons paid off when, in 1987, he was cast as an undercover cop on the Canadian TV series 21 Jump Street. After the release of the series, Depp woke up as a celebrity and the idol of all teenagers.
In 1990, Depp starred in the musical Cry-Baby, and then got the lead role in Tim Burton’s fantasy film Edward Scissorhands. This picture not only made Johnny an actor of the first magnitude, but also collected more than $54 million. And Johnny himself received about $3 million.
On the set of the film, the actor met Winona Ryder. Young people started an affair, and after 5 months, Johnny proposed to his beloved and got a tattoo on his right arm with the inscription “Winona Forever”. But at 19In 93, the couple broke up, as Ryder’s parents were categorically against this union.
Everything, except for his personal life, turned out well for Depp. He received critical acclaim, increased his popularity, and continued to be an active collaborator with Tim Burton, starring in several more of his films: Ed Wood (1994), Sleepy Hollow (1999) and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory (2005). The last of the films brought the actor about $ 18 million and a nomination for the Golden Globe Award.
However, these films did not bring Johnny dizzying fees. The most profitable project for the actor was Pirates of the Caribbean. The franchise brought him more than $300 million, worldwide popularity and a nomination for an Oscar in 2004 for his role as Jack Sparrow.
In 2005, Johnny received a second Oscar nomination for the lead role in the film Wonderland, and in 2008 a third nomination for the film Sweeney Todd, the Demon Barber of Fleet Street.
Johnny Depp’s filmography has many more successful works, including the film The Tourist, where he starred with Angelina Jolie, Alice in Wonderland and the Fantastic Beasts franchise. By the way, the role of the Mad Hatter brought the actor $ 55 million. And for one scene in the third part of Fantastic Beasts, from where he was fired in disgrace, Depp received more than $ 10 million.
Not all critics consider Johnny Depp a brilliant actor. In 2015, he even topped the rating of the most overrated Hollywood actors, compiled by the American magazine Forbes. Reviewers analyzed and came to the conclusion that for the last pictures with Depp’s participation, film studios received only $ 1.2 for every dollar spent on the actor himself. While the Pirates of the Caribbean films have grossed $3.7 billion, Mortdecai, which also stars Johnny Depp, grossed just $47 million on a $60 million budget.0003
Scandal with Amber Heard
Johnny Depp is unlikely to please us in the near future with new movies with his participation. Studios refuse to work with the actor because of his scandalous divorce from actress Amber Heard. Their family squabbles even overshadowed the divorce of Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt, which was also exaggerated in the press for a long time.
Johnny and Amber got married in February 2015, and in May 2016, the actress filed for divorce, accusing her husband of assault, outbursts of aggression and all mortal sins. Amber shared scary photos with bruises that her expressive husband allegedly left her. The actors divorced, and Amber received $ 7 million as compensation for dropping allegations of domestic violence.
Depp claimed that he had never beaten his wife, but his reputation was already damaged. Every year, the family drama continues to acquire more and more details, and the courts seem to drag on endlessly.
In 2019, Hurd released a column in The Washington Post and again mentioned violence from her ex-husband, and Depp sued the ex-wife for libel and demanded $ 50 million. According to the actor, Amber was the abuser in their couple . In 2020, Depp began legal proceedings with The Sun newspaper, which wrote about him as a man who beat his wife. The court refused to satisfy the claim of the actor. Depp not only lost this “battle”, but also lost his contract with Warner Bros., and, accordingly, his role in the sequel to the film “Fantastic Beasts”.
The litigation between Johnny Depp and Amber Heard has not yet ended. On April 11, another trial began in the United States in order to find out who is actually right and who is wrong. And justice will not be easy – the family life of the spouses was short, but eventful, as in the Brazilian TV series. Clinical psychologist Laurel Anderson, who was Depp and Heard’s family therapist in 2015, spoke at the session. According to the specialist, both actors experienced abuse in childhood, and in their marriage they created a situation of “mutual abuse.”
Depp said that he himself allegedly often became a victim of the aggression of his ex-wife. As an argument, Depp showed a finger injury that he received in 2015 when Amber threw a bottle of vodka at him. Then, turning to the medical facility, Johnny lied that he hit his finger on the door.
“I didn’t want to reveal that it was Miss Heard who threw a bottle of vodka at me, after which my finger was torn off. I didn’t want to give her trouble. I tried to make it as easy as possible for everyone. I didn’t want to drag her into these proceedings, ”the actor commented.
On April 26, as part of the meeting, they listened to the testimony of the police officers who came to Amber and Johnny’s house after the actress reported domestic violence. And the guards of the law did not see signs of a fight on the spot. As part of the meeting, the floor was also given to forensic psychologist Dr. Shannon Curry, who had previously held a 12-hour session with Heard. The psychologist revealed the signs of a hysterical personality disorder in the actress. It is possible that the court will ultimately side with Depp.
Crazy spending
In 2016, Johnny earned $48 million and did not deny himself anything. He loved to live in a big way, for which he later fell into a debt hole. In 2017, every month the actor lowered $200,000 on a private jet and $30,000 on wine. He spent another $300,000 on staff and $150,000 on bodyguards.
Now the actor’s capital is about $100 million (he spent the remaining $650 million).
Real estate
According to his management company, Depp has spent more than $75 million on the purchase and development of 14 residences, including an entire village in France. In February 2021, the estate was put up for sale for $55 million.
In 2004, he bought an entire chain of islands in the Bahamas for $3.6 million, and three years later he bought five separate penthouses for $7.5 million. In 2016, he sold this property for $12.78 million.
At the disposal of the actor there was a farm with a stable in Kentucky, which he bought in 1995 for $950,000. His mother lived here for some time. In 2001, he sold the farm for $1 million, but four years later bought it back for $2 million. In 2016, his mother passed away, and the actor put the farm up for auction for $3 million.
In 2014, Johnny purchased a property in England, namely a luxury mansion in Somerset, Shire. The old house is located on the territory of 330 hectares. At the time of purchase, it was estimated at $ 2.5 million, and the actor invested about $ 5 million more in repairs. True, it is not known whether Johnny owns this mansion now.
Other purchases
Johnny Depp is said to own a $328,000 Rolls Royce Wraith and a red 1959 Corvette roadsterYear of release. Now you can buy one for $ 80,000.
For some time the actor owned a yacht, which he bought for about $ 18 million. The vessel took at least $ 350,000 a month to maintain, and Johnny eventually sold it to writer JK Rowling.
Another $3-5 million Johnny spent on a completely useless thing – a special gun, with which the actor scattered the ashes of his late friend Hunter Thompson.

Some time ago, a Kentucky boy made headlines for donations he dedicated to his late brother. The idea was his own, but he was helped by his mom and many netizens.
At the age of eight, Grayson Brooks had already proven that even small children like him can have big hearts. A young boy recently came up with an emotional way to honor his late brother Wyatt.
Grayson is the oldest child of Destiny Hayes. In addition to him, she welcomed two other children, including his sister, three-year-old Hazel, and the late Wyatt.
Wyatt NEVER CALL HAYES ‘MAMA’
Wyatt was the youngest of Destiny Hayes and Jimmy Brooks’ children, but he was still an infant when he died. Thus, there were many things that he could not do with his family.
His mother was looking forward to getting on the school bus with his brother Grayson, who also loved his little brother. Hayes described Wyatt as “a cute kid who quickly wrapped her around his little little finger.
Wyatt died in 2017 and Hayes never heard him call her “mom”. Over time, she adapted to life without a child.
But on rare occasions, such as when she was preparing the school bag for her other two children, Hayes felt her feelings flare up again. She also said :
“I have a nephew who was born a few weeks after Wyatt, and every time he hits a new milestone, it makes me feel good.”
BRILLIANT IDEA
Wyatt’s departure was an ordeal for those he left behind. They have gone through pain, but are determined to keep the memory of the little boy alive. According to Hayes, one of those who remembered Wyatt very closely was his brother Grayson.
After the tragedy, he reportedly started walking around with a framed photograph of little Wyatt, which he called Bubba. It was rather surprising that Grayson bonded so strongly with his brother, who was only four months old when he passed away from sudden infant death syndrome (SIDS).
When this happened, Grayson was three years old and had been asking about Wyatt for a long time, wanting to know where he had been and when he would return.
As he grew older, Grayson realized that Wyatt was gone forever, and then began to think about how to keep Wyatt’s memory alive. After brainstorming, he came up with a plan to honor his late brother and comfort his mother.
Last month, Grayson delivered about $350 worth of goods to Estes Elementary School in Owensboro, Kentucky. He asked that the stationery be given to the next group of kindergarten students who would be Wyatt’s classmates. Grayson said:
“I made this for my brother who passed away at 4 months old, I wanted to donate supplies to help the whole school.”
Stationery, including writing materials, crayons and markers, was purchased with money donated by Facebook users to a fundraiser started by Grayson’s mother.
He said that he thought about it a lot, and after he told his mother about it, she supported him in every possible way. Her pride in him also increased. In a fundraiser she created, Hayes talked about Wyatt’s death.
She stated that the pain of the tragedy would never subside, and then told how grateful she was that they were able to uncover the reason why babies die of SIDS, which means that no other mother should have to endure that she has.
GRAYSON’S BIG HEART
Grayson’s idea made Hayes proud and happy, and she now hopes they can continue to do something similar for Wyatt in the coming years.
According to Hayes, Grayson wants to help people because at a young age he already realizes what people have to overcome difficulties to make ends meet.
Grayson hand-selected every item they bought with the donation money, and he only chose what he knew his little brother would like. Hayes also mentioned how determined Grayson is to keep his brother’s memory alive. She said:
“Every time he does something fun, he says, ‘Bubba will love it.’
It’s because Grayson thinks Wyatt is smiling from heaven, and who’s to say he’s wrong?
HOW PEOPLE RESPONDED TO GRAYSON
TODAY recently shared Grayson’s story with its Facebook users, prompting a flood of well wishes and praise for the boy. Some of the comments went like this:
“Just such a wonderful and compassionate young man. We need more of him.”

“I shed a tear. May God bless him. And his brother will be an angel watching over him.”
