AMERICA’S MOST ACCREDITED
We’re so proud!
Nationally only 10% of daycares are accredited – nearly 100% of our learning centers are. That’s a big difference,
and that means KinderCare kids are getting the very best. Here’s why.
SCHOOL-READY
What Learning Looks Like
Our talented early-childhood teachers set kids down the path toward becoming lifelong learners in a positive, safe, and nurturing environment.
Eagle Harbor Parkway KinderCare Programs
Infant Programs (6 weeks–1 year)
Leaving your baby in someone else’s care is a big step. Everyone at our
centers—most importantly, our naturally gifted infant teachers—will work with
you to make sure the transition goes smoothly. When you step into our infant
classroom, you’ll see how much we want your infant to feel safe, loved, and
ready to explore their world.
Toddler Programs (1–2 Years)
Everything in our toddler classroom is designed for little explorers. That’s
because a lot is going on at this age. When your child is wandering all over the
place, that means they’re learning and discovering new things every day. We’ll
help them explore their interests (and find new ones!) as they play and learn.
Discovery Preschool Programs (2–3 Years)
This age is filled with so much wonder and curiosity. That’s why we offer a ton
of books and toys and bring artwork down to kids eye level. Children in
discovery preschool also begin to learn how we all work together in a
classroom. Simple math and science, pretend play, and group play help them
get used to a more structured school setting.
Preschool Programs (3–4 Years)
This age is all about expression, when kids really start to form their own ideas
about what they want to play and how they want to create. Every day in our
preschool classroom, your child will explore science experiments, create
artwork, and play pretend—all the skills needed for their big next step:
kindergarten!
Prekindergarten Programs (4–5 Years)
When you walk into one of our pre-K classrooms, you’ll see artwork and
writing displayed around the room. Labels are everywhere to help kids connect
letters with words. You’ll also see pictures on the walls that reflect the families
in our community. Your child will also deepen their knowledge in language,
math, science, Spanish, and social skills.
Before- and After-School Programs (5–12 Years)
You can count on us to provide reliable care for your school-ager while you’re
at work, with safe transportation from our center to your child’s school and
back! Whether your child wants to start a drama club, build a volcano, or
create a comic book, they will have a place to follow their dreams. Your child
will start and end the day with a whole lot of fun!
School Break Programs (preschool, prekindergarten, and school-age)
Winter break, spring break, summer break—when school’s out (but you still need to work), you
can count on KinderCare to provide a safe and supportive learning environment that’s focused
on fun. We welcome children ages 5–12 during school break times and make sure they have a
sensational, screen-free experience they won’t forget.

Cooking Academy™ (3 – 12 Years)
In Cooking Academy, kids learn new recipes from cultures around the world and
develop a healthy relationship with food. They’ll whip up everything from Southwest
rainbow lettuce wraps to pumpkin muffins, building their skills in STEM, communication,
and more along the way. And yes—little chefs get to eat their culinary creations!
Music Explorers™ (2 – 4 Years)
KinderCare families are already giving a standing ovation to our newest Learning
Adventures program: Music Explorers! Kids will learn to sing, move, listen, play
instruments, and even create their own tunes. Our original curriculum blends math,
science, social studies, literacy, and mindfulness (think yoga!) for a uniquely KinderCare
way of learning the foundations of music.
Phonics Adventures® (2 – 4 Years)
Learning how to read is a whole lot of fun at KinderCare! We help kids grow to love
books and words (and get ready for kindergarten) in our Phonics Adventures program.
From discovering the basics of vowels to practicing poetry, kids learn all about letters
and sounds in small-group lessons made just for their age group. (Bonus: Kids who
attend our phonics program are more prepared than their peers for school—and we
have the data to prove it.)
STEM Innovators (3-8 Years)
You’ve probably heard a lot about how important STEM education is for your child, but
what does that really mean? Our STEM Innovators program takes kids’ natural ability to
make sense of the world and applies it to robotics, chemistry, coding, geology, and
more. While your child experiments, they’ll discover how to use technology to do
amazing things!

Family Stories
Don’t take our word for it. Hear what our families have to say about our amazing center!
-
Our children have been enrolled in KinderCare almost nine years. I cannot say enough about the staff and center. They make me feel comfortable every day that my kids are cared for. My husband and I work ten hour days. We are able to get the boys to KinderCare in the morning in time for my oldest child to be taken to elementary school on time! They can have breakfast, and are safely shuttled back to KinderCare after school. I have never had to worry about the safety of my child being transported to and from his elementary school. In the younger ages, we have had one or both boys in every age group at the center. The teachers always know my children by name and give them personalized attention continuously. The kids have plenty of outdoor time, celebrate events, have wonderful parties, and put on shows! If that is not enough, we have also been able to have the children participate in small, specialized classes, such as Phonics and Cooking! It was very convenient to have both boys participate in the excellent VPK program KinderCare offers right on site. KinderCare is part of our lives. I trust the staff to guard my children’s safety, encourage my children’s independence, and nurture my children’s creativity. From the director to the teachers and to the brave soul who feeds a building full of energetic children… I am very pleased and happy to give two thumbs up! I trust KinderCare can become a part of your lives also!

Bond’s birth house – Culture – Kommersant
The first James Bond film premiered in London 60 years ago, on October 5, 1962. At the beginning of the picture “Dr. No” viewers find themselves in Jamaica – the island on which Ian Fleming wrote 14 books about agent 007 with the right to kill. The island where 3 of the 25 Bond films take place. An island where many tourist attractions are associated with either Fleming or Bond.

The Birth of a Hero
Ian Fleming’s classic Bond books (the name of the hero was used by other authors) are not mentioned neither the day nor the place of his birth. There is only an indication of the nationality of Bond’s parents. Father is Scottish, mother is Swiss. John Pearson, author of a biography of Fleming, also wrote a “biography” of Bond, James Bond: The Authorized Biography of 007. It states that Bond was born on November 11, 1920 years in Wattenscheid (currently a district of the city of Bochum, North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany). In Charlie Higson’s book “SilverFin”, a series of novels about the young Bond, Zurich, Switzerland is given as the birthplace. But all this, of course, is fiction.
James Bond was born on February 17, 1952 at the GoldenEye Villa near the town of Oracabes, St. Mary’s, Jamaica. On that day, Ian Fleming, a retired British naval intelligence officer and foreign correspondent for The Sunday Times, began writing a book called Casino Royale. Whether in order to be less nervous before the upcoming wedding, or in order not to look poor compared to the bride who received £ 100 thousand from her ex-husband in a divorce agreement, or simply because Fleming had long wanted to write a book .
Already in March the book was finished. On March 24, 1952, the marriage of Ian Fleming and Viscountess Rothermere, née Ann Geraldine Mary Charteris, was registered at the town hall of Port Mary, the capital of the parish of Saint Mary. By this time, their romance had lasted intermittently for 15 years. On August 12 of the same year, the couple had a son, Caspar Robert Fleming. On August 16, Fleming sent a letter to his wife: “My love, I am writing this short letter in order to try out my new typewriter and see if it prints golden words, since it is made of gold.”

The $174 Royal Quiet Deluxe Portable typewriter (in terms of purchasing power, this roughly corresponds to today’s $1800) was actually not gold, but only gilded. But Fleming’s words really turned out to be golden. 13 April 1953 years later, his first book was published, became a bestseller, followed by 11 more novels and 2 collections of short stories (the last was released in 1966). Fleming wrote all his books in the winter in Jamaica, and spent the rest of the year mostly in London. In 1962, the first of 27 Bond films was made (in addition to 25 EON Productions films, there were two more films created by independent film companies).
The 17th of 25 EON Productions films is named “GoldenEye” – like Fleming’s Jamaican villa.
Life in Golden Eye
Bellevue Great House. Fleming lived in this house when he first came to Jamaica

Bellevue Great House. Fleming lived in this house when he first came to Jamaica. In November 1944, Lieutenant Commander Fleming (this rank in the British Navy corresponds to the Russian rank of captain of the third rank) was sent to a conference of representatives of American and British intelligence, which was held in the capital of Jamaica, Kingston.
Together with Fleming, his old friend Ivar Bryce was sent to the conference. They met on a beach in Cornwall when Bryce was 11 years old and Fleming was 9. Subsequently, both studied at Eton College, became friends again, spent a lot of time together, traveled around England on a motorcycle owned by Bryce, published The Wyvern magazine. During World War II, Bryce served in the US-registered foreign intelligence agency, the British Security Co-ordination (BSC). In fact, it was the residency of all British intelligence services in the United States.
In Jamaica, two friends settled in *one of the richest houses, owned by Bryce’s wife Sheila, Bellevue Great House in St. After the conference, on a flight to New York, Fleming surprised Bryce with an unexpected statement: “When we win this damned war, I will settle in Jamaica. I will just live in Jamaica, have fun, swim in the sea and write books ”(according to other sources, this conversation could have taken place at 1943, 1942 or 1941).

There were books about spies.
In Jamaica, then a colony of the British crown, Fleming settled before he wrote a book about spies. In 1946, on the recommendation of Bryce, he purchased a plot of land, according to various sources, 12 or 15 acres (5–6 ha) on the northern coast of the island. Most of the area is overgrown with grass. Once upon a time, donkey races were held in this place. The territory was put in order, and in its most attractive part – on a rock hanging over the beach, a five-bedroom villa was built. The design of the house was designed by Fleming himself. There were no glass in the windows of the villa – only blinds, traditional for Jamaica. There was no hot water and no closets. There was something military about it all. As in the requirement for servants to address the owner as “Commander Fleming.”
Fleming named his house GoldenEye. In an interview published in Playboy magazine in December 1964, he explained the title thus:
“I happened to be reading Reflections in the Golden Eye by Carston McCullers at the time, and also during the war I participated in an operation called Golden Eye” – for the defense of Gibraltar in case the Spaniards decide to attack it.
In February 2000, Ian Fleming’s passport was put up for auction at Sotheby`s, with which he visited Gibraltar while working on Operation Goldeneye. In Gibraltar, Lieutenant Commander Fleming was supposed to make contact with Colonel William Donovan of the US Office of Strategic Services (the CIA was later created on the basis of this organization). Initially valued at £2000–3000, the passport was sold for £15,525.
But back to Jamaica.
In 1948, the British playwright Noel Coward was vacationing at Fleming’s villa. He liked Jamaica so much that he settled in the neighborhood, buying land and building his own house – Blue Harbor, and then moved to another – Firefly.
Approximately the same distance between Fleming’s house and Coward’s first house was “Bolt” – the home of Blanche Blackwell, heiress to one of the largest fortunes on the island (both Fleming and Coward purchased land from her brother Roy Lindo). In biographies of Fleming, Blanche Blackwell is called his friend, lover, muse and possible prototype of two “Bond girls” – Pussy Galore and Honeychile (Honey) Ryder.

spent three weeks at GoldenEye Villa. Before returning to the metropolis, Eden planted a tree in the garden. From London, the Prime Minister wrote to Fleming: “I don’t think there is anywhere else where I can rest as I need.”
Three houses near the town of Oracabesa were popular holiday destinations for celebrities during the 1950s and 1960s. Fleming, Coward and Blackwell were visited by photographer Cecil Beaton, artist Lucian Freud, writers Evelyn Waugh and Truman Capote, film actors Errol Flynn, Katharine Hepburn, Laurence Olivier, Alec Guinness, John Gielgud, Elizabeth Taylor, Richard Burton, Sophia Loren.
Fleming was a great lover of birds. When choosing the name for the protagonist of Casino Royale, he took it from the cover of the Field Guides of Birds of the West Indies. The book was written by ornithologist James Bond. According to Fleming, the name was “short, unromantic, Anglo-Saxon and very masculine – just right.”
Birds of the West Indies
Fleming’s love of birdwatching was reflected not only in the choice of a name for agent 007. called “bearded hermit thrush”, and in English – rufous-throated solitaire (Latin name – myadestes genibarbis). Fleming heard the song of this small secretive bird more than once in the Blue Mountains.
In the ninth book (and the fourth movie) of the James Bond film Thunderball, the villain’s mistress, who later went over to the side of good and Bond, is named Domino. In Jamaica, this is the name of the songbird – the yellow-throated songbird (Geothlypis trichas). In males of this species, the head coloring looks like it is wearing a black masquerade mask – a domino.
Jim Wright details Fleming’s relationship with birds in The Real James Bond.
Near his Jamaican home, Fleming planted hibiscus and bougainvillea to attract birds – pennant-tailed hummingbirds (Trochilus polytmus), mango hummingbirds (Anthracothorax mango) and pygmy hummingbirds, also called pygmy bees (Mellisuga minima). According to Dacosta Ramsey, who worked for many years as a gardener at the GoldenEye Villa, Fleming liked to listen to birdsong at dusk.
Fleming’s books contain many descriptions of birds. For example, the story “For Your Eyes Only” begins: “The most beautiful bird in Jamaica, and some say that in the whole world, is the pennant-tailed hummingbird or the doctor hummingbird. The male of this species is about nine inches long, of which seven inches is the tail—two long curved black feathers crossing each other, their inner margins scalloped. The head and plume are black, the wings are dark green, the beak is scarlet, and the eyes, bright and trusting, are black. The body is emerald green, so dazzlingly bright that when the sun shines on the breast, the brightest green creature in nature is in front of you.
In the same story, ex-Gestapo von Hammerstein, who became head of counterintelligence in the Cuban secret service, orders his subordinates to kill the British Havelock couple living in Jamaica, who refused to sell him a house. In addition, Hammerstein himself kills a kingfisher with a gun, deriving obvious pleasure from this. The Havelocks’ daughter Judy kills Hammerstein with a bow, and James Bond saves her, cracking down on the former Gestapo’s henchmen.
In Live and Let Die, Robber, an assassin working for Mr. Big, kills an American brown pelican in front of Bond. “What the heck?” Bond asks. “Practice,” Robber replies. Subsequently, a shootout occurs between Bond and Robber when 007 discovers that Mr. Big is smuggling gold coins into the US, hiding them in tropical fish tanks. During the fight, Robber falls into an aquarium with sharks.
In Fleming’s latest book, The Man with the Golden Gun, the main anti-hero Francisco Scaramanga shoots two Antillean grackles (in Jamaica this bird is called “kling-kling”) in a cafe, and later from a train window shoots a turkey vulture hovering in the sky, guarded statutory kind. Scaramanga killed many British agents and tries to kill Bond, but he himself dies at his hands.
In Fleming’s books, a man who kills a bird is a scoundrel who himself will be killed.
The two authors met shortly before Fleming’s death at 1964 year. According to a popular legend in Jamaica, in the early 60s, an elderly couple appeared on the threshold of the GoldenEye villa – a man and a woman. “Hello, Mr. Fleming,” the man said. “My name is Bond. James Bond”.
In fact, the acquaintance took place in absentia. In 1960 or 1961, the Bond couple found out about the existence of a namesake and Mary Wickham Bond wrote an indignant letter to Fleming – why did he give the name of a living person, her husband, to a scoundrel? In a response letter, Fleming explained his motives (just like in an interview with Playboy), gave permission to the real James Bond to use the name “Ian Fleming” in any way, for example, to call him the most terrible bird, and also invited the spouses to visit.

In 1975, Caspar Fleming, the writer’s son, died of a drug overdose. At 1976th Ann Fleming sold the GoldenEye villa to reggae king Bob Marley. In 1977, Marley was diagnosed with malignant melanoma under her big toe. In the same year, the musician decided that Fleming’s former home was too luxurious for him and sold it to his music producer Christopher Percy Gordon (Chris) Blackwell, Blanche Blackwell’s son. In 1989, Blackwell sold his record company, Island Records, for £180 million (about $300 million at the exchange rate at the time) and entered the hospitality business. At 19In ’98, he hired interior designer Linda Garland to remodel Fleming’s villa. In 2007, he announced plans to build cottages and villas on the territory of the GoldenEye estate, which by that time had increased in size to 40 acres (16.2 hectares) due to the purchase of neighboring land plots.
Fleming’s Villa is currently the most expensive holiday property at the GoldenEye Resort. Its five bedrooms can accommodate up to ten people. Price per night from November 1 to December 19 – $11 915.

According to the tradition established by Sir Anthony Eden, the guests of the villa plant a tree upon their departure. Among those who have already planted their tree are Harrison Ford, Harry Belafonte, Quincy Jones, Jim Carrey, Johnny Depp, Dennis Hopper, Martha Stewart, Fatboy Slim, Kate Moss, Christy Turlington, Naomi Campbell. Of the performers of the role of Bond – Pierce Brosnan.
Not far from the expensive hotel is the public (admission costs only $5) James Bond Beach, also owned by Blackwell. The beach bar bears the same name as the 3rd book and 11th Bond film, Moonraker. The names of the cocktails served at the bar are also taken from the world of 007. Thus, the Doctor No cocktail is vodka with juice.
The former Boscobel Airport, located about seven kilometers from the GoldenEye Resort, has been named after Ian Fleming since 2011.
Dr. No
“At exactly six o’clock in the evening, with the last yellow glow of sunset over the Blue Mountains, a purple shadow fell from the skies on Richmond Road, and the crickets and tree frogs in the beautiful gardens chirped and whistled.”

Thus begins Ian Fleming’s sixth James Bond novel, Dr. No. Part of the action takes place in Jamaica. James Bond also visits Jamaica in the second (“Live and Let Die”, Live and Let Die) and the last, twelfth novel of the epic (“The Man with the Golden Gun”).
The first EON Productions film (Dr. No) and the eighth film (Live and Let Die, although the film is set on the fictional Caribbean island of Santa Monica) were filmed in Jamaica. In addition, part of the latest Bond film to date, No Time to Die, was filmed in Jamaica, the script of which has nothing to do with Fleming’s books.
The movie Dr. No, starring Sean Connery, doesn’t match the book in every way. Crab Key Island (in Russian translations the name Crab Reef is also used) in both the film and the book is the lair of the villain, Dr. Julius Know. But in the book, a large number of pink spoonbills live on the island, since the doctor’s side business is the extraction of guano. In the film, Dr. No owns a bauxite mine. In the book, Bond kills the villain by literally drowning him in guano; in the film, Dr. Know drowns in boiling water from a nuclear reactor. In the film, Bond does not have to fight a giant squid. In the film, behind the villain is the mysterious worldwide criminal organization SPECTRUM, in the book, the USSR. When Dr. No was filmed, Fleming expected the Cold War to end soon and did not want to portray the Russians as enemies. Perhaps if the filming had begun only a year later, everything would have been different – shortly after the premiere of the film, the Cuban Missile Crisis began.
In preparation for the filming of Dr. No, Chris Blackwell was tasked with selecting location locations and soundtracks. Among the musicians applying to play Jamaican music was a 16-year-old boy with dreadlocks who was turned down because he looked too sloppy and did not have good manners. His name was Bob Marley. A decade later, Blackwell would make him a superstar, but in the film, Jamaican music was assigned to represent Byron Lee and the Dragonaires.

When it comes to shooting locations, Blackwell did a great job.
The film begins (except for the cartoon screensaver) not with a beautiful sunset, but with three supposedly blind people walking through Kingston. In the book, Fleming notes that they are all chigrs (chigroes, that is, mestizos whose parents are Chinese (Chinese) and Negroes (Negroes)). The “blind” walk along King Street, approaching Queen Victoria Park (now called St. William Grant Park). The statue of the Queen, the Ward Theater building, enters the frame. Then they return along King Street, coming to the intersection with Ocean Boulevard. There is a monument to the governor of Jamaica, Sir Charles Theophilus Metcalf, on the boulevard (currently the monument is located in St. William Grant Park).

A little later, the “blind” are at the “Queens Club” (in the film it is portrayed by the private club and hotel Liguanea) . Near the club, they kill British Secret Service agent John Strangweiss, and the corpse is taken away from the crime scene in a car. A few minutes later, they will kill Strangweiss’ assistant as well. The Strangways House in which his assistant was killed was on Kinsale Street. Unfortunately, it didn’t survive. The film does not show what happened to the two corpses, in the book the killers dispose of them by dumping them into the Mona reservoir. The track around the reservoir is currently popular with joggers.
After the Secret Service in Jamaica did not get in touch with London, James Bond was entrusted to find out their fate.

Mona Reservoir. In Fleming’s book here, Strangweiss’s killers and his assistant disposed of the corpses Know is the only Bond film in which 007 does not go abroad.
On a domestic flight, Bond flies from London to Kingston, to Palisados Airport (currently named after Jamaican statesman Norman Manley, the airport building has been completely rebuilt).

Having eliminated the killer, sent to the airport by Dr. No under the guise of a driver, Bond with a corpse in a car drives up to the “Government House”. This is Kings House, the residence of the Governor General of Jamaica.
In Port Morgan near the village (and in the distant past the largest city in the Caribbean) Port Royal, near the Norman Manly airport, Bond finds the fisherman Quarell, assistant to the missing agent Strangweiss. The skirmish and then reconciliation of Bond and Quarell takes place in the bar of the Morgan`s Harbor hotel. The bar is still in its place, although its appearance has changed. The name of the hotel has also changed – to the Grand Port Royal Hotel.
The bauxite loading pier, purportedly owned by Dr. Noe, is located west of the city of Ocho Rios.

The home of Miss Taro, another of the villain’s assistants, was filmed at the Grand Lido Sans Souci Hotel in Ocho Rios, where the film’s crew lived. The current name of the hotel is Couples Resorts Sans Souci. The appearance of the “House of Tarot” has changed a lot over the years.
Near Ocho Rios is the Jamaican government-owned Laughing Waters beach, where the famous scene with Ursula Andress as Honey Ryder emerging from the sea in an ivory bikini was filmed. In 2001, Andress sold the legendary bikini at Christie`s auction for £41,125. In November 2020, the bikini was put up for auction at Legends of Hollywood in Los Angeles with an estimate of $300-500 thousand, but did not find a buyer.
In addition to the bikini, Honey-Ursula was wearing a white military belt provided by game designer, tin soldier collector and maker John Tunstill. The belt is currently in his possession.

The beach is closed to the public. But you can rent it by the day for a party or some special event. The price depends on the number of participants and starts at about $1000.
The swamp scenes (encounter with the “dragon” tank, during which Quarell is killed and Bond and Honey Ryder are captured) were filmed around Falmouth.
Jamaica is back and back again
The 1973 film Live and Let Die starring Roger Moore as 007 increased the number of Bond attractions in Jamaica. But it is worth a separate story, perhaps next year, when it will be 50 years since its release. As for the 2021 film No Time to Die, despite being a great advertisement for Jamaica’s recovering travel industry from the coronavirus pandemic, it has nothing to do with Fleming’s books. And it hardly has such a number of fans as the 60-year-old Dr. No.

As a rule, junior developers work in this position for several years before moving up in position and income level. Also, the average salary you can earn usually increases as you gain experience and move up the corporate ladder. In this article, we will discuss how much a junior developer earns, including national and state averages, and what you can do to increase your potential income as a junior software developer. What is a junior software developer?A junior software engineer is a professional programmer who works as part of a larger development team to write and maintain code for computer programs and applications. They work under the direct supervision of a mid to senior lead developer. Junior developers typically focus on learning and mastering multiple coding languages, fixing minor bugs and bugs in programs, participating in programming pair mentoring, and training with senior developers. How much does a junior software developer earn?Junior software developers earn a national average of $65,508 per year although updated salaries can be found on Indeed. Ways to increase the salary of a junior software developerSoftware development is a broad field used across industries, which means there is a lot of room for growth. Consider the following approaches to increase your potential income as a junior software developer:
Request a promotion or raiseAs you gain experience as a junior developer, you will likely develop your skills and industry experience. With accumulated work experience, you increase your chances of a successful promotion or salary increase. Consider how you have fared in your current position and look at the salary levels for similar positions in your area. Using this information, you can get an idea of how much you should be asking for as a raise and how much progress you should be aiming for. Talk to your employer and tell them what you have contributed to the company, how you consistently exceed expectations, and how you plan to continue working after promotions and pay increases. Having this information available during discussions with your employer increases the chances that they will consider and approve your request. Get a degreeOne way to increase your earning potential as a junior developer is to get a degree. Most junior developer positions require a bachelor’s degree in computer science or another related field, so advancing in this career area may mean earning a master’s degree in a field such as computer science or computer engineering. In addition, a degree in your field can help you increase your industry knowledge, experience, and qualifications. All these factors contribute to the increase in the average wage. Get a Professional CertificationProfessional Certifications for Junior Software Developers are optional, but they enhance your skills and increase your earning potential. Consider the following developer certifications to improve your skills and potentially increase your salary:
Participate in vocational trainingConsider advancing your career and ultimately your earning potential by participating in continuing education courses or attending vocational training seminars that offer credits for certifications or other documents. Similarly, annual refresher seminars, especially in the tech industry, can be an effective way to keep abreast of industry trends, learn about new programs or applications as they become available, and develop new skills that will help you advance your career. As you move up the career ladder, you are likely to move into middle and management positions, which can mean higher average wages. Specialize in a subsetInstead of focusing your developer skills on a wide range of programming concepts, consider specializing in a subset of programming and development. For example, you can specialize exclusively in Microsoft applications such as cloud network programming and in-house development for the Windows Store. Likewise, consider mastering Oracle or another in-demand business intelligence program. You will likely be able to find higher paying positions with a specific skill set and subset of knowledge, as employers are often looking for developers with experience in highly specialized niches. How Much Does a Software Developer Get Paid?Today, IT experts are in demand like never before. The job market is almost always packed with employers who are looking for people with knowledge in some area of programming, be it software development or web development. I think it’s not even worth arguing that such demand could not but affect the popularity of these skills among potential employees. With such popularity, more and more people are becoming interested in the salary of various professions in this industry. Therefore, in this guide, we decided to talk about how much a software developer receives. We’ll start by talking about the profession itself. First, let’s give a brief description of the work of a software developer and his responsibilities. Then, we will tell you how a software developer differs from a software engineer – many people very often confuse these two professions. After that, we will touch on the different types of developers you can meet today. And finally, at the final moment, we will find out what is the average salary of a programmer in this field. Contents
IntroductionBefore getting into the real numbers, we need to talk about the profession itself. To be honest, the title of this position has become some common phrase for programmers – people often use it when talking about technology or IT. Therefore, you should probably learn a few facts about this specialty in order to clear up this misunderstanding. As the name implies, a software developer deals with what… software development . It’s simple, isn’t it? However, there is much more to this than you might think. A software developer has a whole list of different responsibilities that depend on his skills and experience. In addition to developing programs and systems, developers must manage existing ones, work closely with the team to ensure its stable operation. After all, the work of other people depends on the stable operation of the platform. As you can imagine, this is a job that almost never ends. Now on to another topic. Even to this day, many people confuse software engineers with software engineers. In order for you to understand the difference between these two positions, you must know the following. There is a very good way to look at these two professions. Remember this simple rule – a software engineer cannot work with software engineering, while software engineering for a software engineer is routine task. Simply put, software engineering is the process of creating a platform for a program, while software development is the process of working on the program itself. This is a very simplified version, but it should help you get the general idea. Most Liked ArticlesLooking for more information on a related topic? We have collected related articles specifically for you to have a good time. Take a look! Various Types of Software DevelopersAs you probably know, almost every job in the IT world has a certain tag. Whether it’s web development or app building, you can see that almost every job has some kind of prefix next to it. Let’s look at a simple example so you can understand what we are talking about. Suppose you decide to go to work as a mechanic. If you understand something about this or have even taken several courses, you can count on a job with the tag “ beginner ” or “ entry-level ”. Your colleagues and managers will keep a close eye on your work, and you are unlikely to receive a difficult task. In contrast, if you had, for example, ten years of experience in this field, you could be promoted to a “junior” or “senior” mechanic. Based on your experience, you are more likely to qualify for a senior position, but many companies prefer to only give it to those who have worked in the company for a sufficiently long time without taking into account your previous experience. As a senior mechanic, you would be given some of the toughest jobs, mentoring or even managing your team. Of course, your salary would be commensurate with your duties. The same situation applies to the developer, and not only in the case of salary. A software developer can have various tags that determine the level of his workload, experience and, accordingly, salary. So, now we know what type a programmer is in this area, the salary was also slightly affected, however, we need to talk in more detail about each of them. Entry Level Software DeveloperAn entry-level (entry-level) software developer is a person who has only recently entered the industry. Whether he studied development himself, took online courses, or graduated from the university in the relevant specialty, most likely this person has no work experience. Therefore, the most important activity for the developer at this stage is the acquisition of experience. Although sometimes this position is taken by students who need to do an internship in a real company in order to successfully complete their studies. Employers take this into account, so they select tasks that suit their skills and knowledge. These tasks most often consist of content management, error checking, team building, and so on. As for what conditions a novice programmer receives, salary and benefits, then you most likely understand that this is not the biggest money. Although various data show high figures, you should understand that these are only approximate figures. We will talk about them in more detail a little later, but for now, let’s move on to the next group. Junior Software DeveloperThe group of junior developers is both the most difficult and the most interesting for us. Many people rely on their salary when it comes to planning for the future. You might think that the average salary of a programmer in this group should reflect the overall average, but this is not at all the case. Why? You will learn about this a little later. Although at this point you should know that the causes can be both simple and complex. With that said, a junior software developer is considered to be someone who already has some experience in the field of development, but is still far from being a master of his craft. Mostly this group consists of people who have already graduated from the university, have worked in some companies and want to find a stable job in order to really delve into the field of development. Regarding the salary of a junior developer, we have already mentioned that this is a rather complicated topic. However, we will discuss it in a separate section, as there are some topics for discussion there. At this point, all we can say is that the harder a junior software developer works, the more results he will achieve – the higher his salary will be! Senior Software DeveloperThe last group – senior developers – are the most valuable specialists in this position. These are people for whom software development has become a part of life. Just like with mechanics, senior developers get the most difficult tasks. It makes sense, doesn’t it? The more experience and knowledge you have, the more complex tasks you will be entrusted with. In addition to their main activities, they often have additional responsibilities, such as training newcomers and managing a team. It is not surprising that with such a set of responsibilities, the average salary of a programmer in the senior group will be the highest. Many people enter the study of development only because of the prospect of earning such a salary. Now you have all the necessary information, so we can safely move on to what a programmer can expect: salary and conditions. Software Developer SalaryHow Much Does a Software Developer Get? This is the main question you want answered. Now is the time to answer it. However, please note that all the data below are approximate. Since salaries are a very volatile subject for analysis, it is very difficult to determine the exact figure. Moreover, these data are presented based on the analysis of salaries of employees in international companies. Your actual salary will depend on a lot of things – location, skill level, workload, and more. Entry Level SalaryLet’s start with how much a beginner software developer earns. As previously mentioned, many people think that their salary should be low. Well, let’s look at the real situation. According to Payscale.com, an entry-level software developer should make about $ $65,000 per year, or almost $ $5460 per month. As you understand, this is not the smallest salary! This is several times higher than the average salary in some countries! From this data, we can conclude that good developers are now very much needed in the current labor market. Junior Developer SalaryAs we said earlier, junior developer salary is quite… mixed . Why is this happening? It’s simple – it intersects with the other two groups. Still not clear? Let’s not get too far off topic and just note that the salary of this group is the most unstable. At any time, it could be that a junior developer is earning a much lower than average salary. Again, it all depends on many factors. That being said, PayScale still gives us an estimate of salaries. According to them, a junior software developer can expect to earn $ $67,500 $ per year or $ $5625 $ per month. As you can see, the difference from the entry level is not entirely striking. This can be explained by the fact that there are much more novice specialists in the labor market than more experienced ones who can count on a large amount. Advantages

Working with babies: Babies at Work Program – BADGER
Nurses Who Work with Babies: A Closer Look at Your Options
Whether you’re already a parent or you’re just the type who can’t help but fawn over the babies you pass at the supermarket, you’ve probably known for a while now that working with little ones is your preferred calling.
Outside of a career in early childhood education, becoming a nurse is one of the most viable paths to working with babies and young children. That’s great news for anyone who wants pair their passion for working with kids with a rock-solid healthcare career path.
But what type of nursing path should you pursue? There are a variety of different types of nurses who work with babies and, from an outsider’s perspective, the differences between them can seem a little fuzzy. We’re here to help you develop a better understanding of the potential paths.
4 Jobs for aspiring nurses who want to work with babies
If you have a passion for working in the medical field with the hopes of helping infants thrive, you’ve come to the right place. We compiled the details of four common nursing careers with the hope that this guide will help you choose the right path for you.
1. Labor and delivery nurses
Job description:Labor and delivery nurses help welcome new babies into the world. They care for women during labor and childbirth and monitor the infant and mother during the process. They also help coach mothers and assist doctors throughout the stages of giving birth by administering medicine, aiding in inducing labor and timing contractions.
These types of nurses can be found working in hospitals and physician’s offices, as well as in community clinics.
Important skills and characteristics: Just like any other nurse, it’s important for a labor and delivery nurse to be detailed, thorough and organized. These types of nurses must be quick on their feet, stay calm during high-stress situations and tout an extra dose of empathy. Since giving birth can be an extremely emotional experience, it’s important that labor and delivery nurses can soothe and calm while staying firm when the going gets rough.
Education and training: Labor and delivery nurses, like all registered nurses, must graduate with either a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) or an Associate’s degree in Nursing (ADN) and satisfy all requirements for state licensure.
While it’s possible to find a position as a labor and delivery nurse right out of college, employers may prefer candidates with nursing experience. Additionally, pursuing a nursing certification like the Inpatient Obstetric Nursing (RNC-OB®) certification through the National Certification Corporation is another way to show employers your interest in this role.
2. Neonatal nurses
Job description: Neonatal nurses are typically the next specialized group to enter the picture of infant care after labor and delivery nurses. This type of nurse specializes in the care of newborn infants. Within this area of nursing are several subspecialties. They may care for perfectly healthy infants, provide more focused care for premature or ill babies, or work specifically with one seriously ill infant in the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU). Some babies have respiratory problems or serious nutritional needs that can be life threatening, and a neonatal nurse can care for these types of infants around the clock.
These types of nurses often work in high dependency and special care infant units in hospitals while other nurses work in the community with families whose babies have recently been discharged from the hospital.
Important skills and characteristics: Since neonatal nurses work with high-risk patients, it’s important that they’re able to think of their feet and make quick decisions if they notice a sudden change. This role also requires frequently working with specialized equipment such as neonatal ventilators and incubators. As with all nursing roles, it’s important they stay calm during an emergency, have an excellent eye for detail and have the ability to communicate compassionately.
Education and training: After completing the required steps to becoming a registered nurse, would-be neonatal nurses can give their resume a boost by first accumulating a year or two of nursing experience. Additionally, it may benefit neonatal nurses to pursue the CCRN® (Neonatal) credential from the American Association of Critical-Care Nurses (AACN) or the RNC Certification for Neonatal Intensive Care Nursing (RNC-NIC®).
3. Pediatric nurses
Job description: Once babies are discharged and begin living and developing at home, pediatric nurses provide care for them as they grow into adolescents. They provide routine primary care services, such as health maintenance and exams, developmental screenings, and vaccinations. They also treat illness or injuries when they occur in children.
Important skills and characteristics: As with all jobs for which working with children is the primary duty, it’s important to be able to roll with the punches, improvise and keep kids calm. Aside from all the organizational and relational skills required of RNs, a special emphasis on communicating with children, and helping them feel safe and cared for is always a plus.
Education and training: In addition to meeting the requirements for becoming an RN, nurses interested in pediatrics can choose to pursue the Certified Pediatric Nurse (CPN®).
4. Antepartum and postpartum nurses
Job description: While this job is more baby-adjacent than the ones we’ve covered so far, antepartum and postpartum nurses care for mothers during pregnancy and directly after.
Antepartum nurses most commonly work on hospital units for pregnant patients who are having complications with their pregnancy, like preeclampsia, hyperemesis gravidarum or gestational diabetes. Antepartum nurses continuously evaluate their patients, their vital signs, fetus health and any status changes for either the mother or the child. They give medications, prepare patients for procedures or imaging, and work with healthcare providers to create care plans and carry them out.
Postpartum nurses, on the other hand, care for patients in the days following delivery, whether by C-section or a vaginal birth. These are often emotional and challenging days for the parents and the child. Not only do postpartum nurses monitor the vital signs and status of the parents and child as well as create and carry out care plans, they also teach new parents important skills, like how to change diapers and how to feed the baby.
Important skills and characteristics: Pregnancy and postpartum care can be fraught with emotions, especially if the patient is having serious medical issues. The very best antepartum and postpartum nurses are compassionate, patient and understanding. They should be able to comfort patients having emotional distress as well as have the coping mechanisms to help themselves deal with the stress too.
Education and training: First, you’ll need to become an RN. While there’s no specific antepartum or postpartum certifications at this time, it can help to shadow a nurse in antepartum or postpartum care or take additional continuing education coursework in subjects related to OB/GYN or labor and delivery.
How will you make your impact?
You now have a basic understanding of some of the common types of nurses who work with babies. After familiarizing yourself with each, do you have a better idea of where you’d like to focus your nursing career?
If you’re looking for more information on the specifics of these nursing career paths, consider learning more about how to become a labor and delivery nurse, researching what it’s like being a neonatal nurse, or reading up on the ins and outs of pediatric nursing. While these specialized roles have their differences in their day-to-day duties, they do have one thing in common beyond working with babies: the need for becoming a registered nurse. Working From Home With a Baby or Toddler
If you’re working from home, you might be wondering how you can keep your children entertained while you stay productive yourself.
It is possible to work from home while caring for your little ones, but you may find it helpful to create a rough schedule and plan some fun indoor activities ahead of time so you have the supplies you’ll need on hand. Caring for a child (or children) under 36 months also means you’ll likely get the bulk of your work done in short bursts, so you’ll need to prioritize with this in mind.
To help you juggle both responsibilities, we’ve collated some great tips on working from home while looking after your children. It may feel overwhelming at times but you’ve got this!
How to Stay Productive While Working From Home
Here are some tips for working from home with a child or children under 3 years of age:
-
Work while your child sleeps. Take advantage of your children’s naps to tackle the most pressing tasks. If your children have a fairly predictable sleep routine, you may be able to knock off important phone calls or focus intensely on a project when they are likely to be snoozing. Working before they wake up or after they go to sleep is another good idea, especially if your job allows this kind of flexibility.
-
Share the load. If both you and your partner are home, you might like to take turns with one of you feeding or playing with your children while the other gets the chance to work. By taking “shifts,” you can both get things done while your little ones are tended to.
-
Plan out your day and week as best you can. Schedule when you will wake up and what you will do each day. Having a plan and a list of tasks will help you focus on the most critical items in the face of distractions.
-
Work while you breastfeed or pump milk. If you pump breast milk, you may like to use a hands-free breast pump so that you can continue with working or a phone call. If you’re breastfeeding your little one, you may be able to take phone calls or read reports as you do.
-
Dress for work. You may find it helpful to dress professionally so that you feel you are “at work” during work hours, and then change into more casual clothes in the evening. This also helps break up the day and may help you get into the mindset for both work and leisure. On the flipside, you may want to take advantage of the opportunity to work in the comfort of your leggings and T-shirt.
-
Working while your children play. You may be able to get short bursts of work done while your children occupy themselves. If possible, the kind of work you attempt while your children are up should be the kind that can be interrupted, as your little ones will likely be trying to get your attention.
-
Take advantage of the weekends. For example, you might like to cook on Saturdays or Sundays so that you have lunches and snacks ready to go for the week ahead. Another good choice for the weekend is to research some indoor activities for your baby or toddler so that you don’t get stuck mid-week.
-
Remove other distractions. You already have enough on your plate with your little one. If you can, remove other “time-wasters” like social media. There are apps you can use that block your access to social media during work hours, for example. It might also help to schedule half an hour each day for chores so that you’re not constantly wanting to get up and put things away.
-
Be realistic. You may need to be more flexible in how you work and more creative in how you use the hours you have at your disposal. Don’t beat yourself up if you can’t do everything, or can’t do everything perfectly—no one can! A more reasonable goal for a working parent is to be efficient and productive, which you can do by trying some of the tips in this article.
-
Take time for yourself, if you can. It’s natural to get cabin fever if you’re working from home for an extended stretch while also caring for your child. If you can, during their daytime nap or once your children are asleep, take some time to do something for yourself like watching a series, having a pampering bath, or doing some exercise.
Read on for specific tips on working with a newborn, older baby, or toddler in the house.
Working at Home With Your Newborn
Your newborn will likely be sleeping in three- to four-hour stretches all through the day, so you may be able to get solid blocks of time to work during her daytime sleep periods. Keep in mind that you’ll also be waking up for feedings, even if you’re splitting these with your partner, so be prepared to feel a little groggier during the day.
As you work, you might like to “wear” your newborn in a baby carrier, sling, or wrap so your newborn can enjoy feeling close to you while you get things done.
Although it’s just a nice-to-have extra, a bassinet can be helpful for a work-at-home parent, as it can easily be moved to be right by your desk or table, allowing you to remain close to your newborn as you work.
Of course, if the width of your doorways allows it, you can also move your little one’s crib from room to room. Keep in mind that for your baby’s safety she should sleep only in her crib or bassinet.
Staying Productive While You’re Home With an Older Baby
As your baby will want to be near you, and you’ll want to keep an eye on her, place a few toys or an activity center on a play mat or in a playpen that you place right by you. This way you might be able to squeeze in some work while your little one plays next to you.
If your baby enjoys it and you have one, she can also spend short stints in a baby swing, glider, or bouncer. This way, you may be able to have some peace and quiet to work as your baby entertains herself.
Your baby likely has two naps a day—one mid-morning and one mid-afternoon—so take advantage of these opportunities to get some work done.
Working From Home While Caring for Your Toddler
Working from home with a toddler has its upsides and downsides. The positives are that your toddler may be able to entertain herself for short periods and may still take one or two naps a day, during which you can work. The challenge is that when your toddler is up she may want more of your attention.
It’s OK to expect your older toddler to entertain herself for short intervals on occasion. You may need to be firm in telling her she has toys to play with and that for the next 30 minutes she needs to play quietly. To help your child understand the independent play time has an end in sight, consider setting a timer on your phone or microwave. Reassure them once the timer goes off, you’ll be able to take a break and spend some time with them – like play their favorite game or read a few books. Remember, independent play and being able to use her imagination and stave off boredom is an important skill to learn.
To help support her solo play, create a safe space for your toddler to play in. It might be that you thoroughly childproof the living room and let your toddler play freely in that area while you work nearby from the kitchen counter or dining room table.
Reward your toddler for playing nicely by herself by praising her and showing interest in what she was up to.
Another option is to get your older toddler set up with her own “workstation” at the other end of the table to you. She could be busy “working” on a drawing, while you’re busy writing emails, for example. You could tell her that she’s a big kid now and that you’ll both be working for 30 minutes before you can take a break together.
Example of a Daily Schedule When Working From Home
Although you’ll need to work out a routine that works for you and your family, here’s a sample of what a day could look like while working from home while caring for your children:
Coping With Tantrums, Fights, and Other Behavior
If you are cooped up with a toddler, or have more than one child in the house, you may encounter issues that make working from home challenging—such as temper tantrums and sibling squabbles (which often lead to temper tantrums). Here are some ways to help curb and possibly even eliminate tantrums and other unwanted behavior:
-
Avoid saying “no” where possible. You don’t have to give in to every demand, but you can try to deflect certain requests, redirect behavior, or provide an alternative. For example, if your preschooler and toddler want to race around on the floorboards that you don’t want to be scratched, you could encourage them to shift to a carpeted area instead. Of course, if they’re doing something unsafe, you should say “No, that’s dangerous” and refocus their attention elsewhere.
-
Notice good behavior. When your child does something you’d like her to do (especially something that’s been difficult in the past), reward her with praise: “You did such a good job brushing your teeth” (or playing with your brother, or picking up your socks). This tactic can go a long way in boosting your child’s self-esteem and keeping the atmosphere calm and cheerful.
-
Say yes to small wins. Go ahead and give in when the stakes aren’t high. For example, if your children want to have breakfast in their PJs, let them. It might also help you conserve some energy to dodge battles about relatively minor things.
-
Provide options to choose from. When your toddler is given a choice about something, she may be more agreeable about the situation. For instance, if you child doesn’t like to get dressed, when you dress her in the morning, you could say, “Do you want to wear the blue shirt or the yellow one?” and let her decide. Offer only two options, though, and always select ones you can live with.
-
Give a countdown. If something fun is about to end, instead of saying “TV off,” tell your child she has 15 minutes left. Then tell her again when she has 5 minutes to go. Give lots of praise when she does stop on time and does what you’d like at the pre-agreed time. Setting timers work well for this strategy as toddlers often get excited for the timer to go off, which helps deflect their attention away from the activity that’s going to end.
-
Get a giggle going. If you see your toddler might be on the brink of a meltdown, try to get her to laugh before she starts a tantrum. For example, if your toddler doesn’t want to brush her teeth, start a goofy race to the bathroom and see who can make the silliest noise on the way.
-
Practice taking turns. To head off a sibling fight over a toy, try to find two toys that both of your children like. Let them play with the toys for a short time (e.g. set a timer), and then have them trade toys. Though it’s a little time intensive for you to supervise, this is a good first step in learning to share, a big challenge for most small children.
If you’re new to working from home and caring for your children at the same time, you may be feeling a little overwhelmed. Give yourself time to adjust and figure out what’s most effective for you in terms of routines. With a little trial and error, you’ll soon fall into a groove that works for your family. It might also help to remind yourself about the many positives of working from home, like less time commuting and more time with your family.

Three leadership lessons you can learn from working with children

Working with people is not easy. If you have ever been in a leadership role, you know that each person has their own work ethic, habits, preferences, and worldviews. People may miss deadlines, take time off from work, and have conflicts for no apparent reason.
But if you think it’s hard to work with adults, try working with children.
Veronica Elkina
A Different Kind of Leadership
From the very first day you start working with children, one important thing you will notice is that children are full of energy. You will be surprised how so much power fits in such a small body. A child will never tell you: “I’m a little tired, perhaps I’ll take a day off today.” Children are unstoppable. Their energy will drive you crazy. Children will ask you a lot of questions – from general and personal to those relating to the greatest mysteries of life. They will tell you incoherent stories and ask you to repeat the same joke over and over again until you curse the moment it occurred to you. But all this will be only if the children love you. Otherwise… as they say, what doesn’t kill us makes us stronger.
It is useless to try to fit in with children. Your goal is to direct their energy in the right direction, and for this it is not enough just to tell them what to do. Adults will listen to you because you are their boss, but children will only listen to you if they love and trust you. Therefore, in working with them, you need to use a simple, but not too obvious approach.

Creating a Playground for Communication
The first step is to begin to take children seriously. Children do not think of themselves as “just a child”. The problem or question of a five-year-old child may seem insignificant to you, but for him they are quite real. Children won’t take you seriously if you treat them condescendingly. Listen to them with full seriousness and respect, and then they will listen to you. When a child understands that he is being taken seriously, he feels that he is accepted, that he is safe and all is well. This rule also works for employees and members of your team.
The next step is keep the children busy. Children are surprisingly accommodating when they are busy with something. But to do this is not so easy. If a task, exercise or game is too simple or easy, children will quickly get bored with it. If the task is too confusing and difficult, they will give up. The ideal activity is like an apple that doesn’t hang too high or too low – it’s not that hard to get it, but it still needs to be reached. In the adult world, the execution of such tasks usually occurs in a state of flow.
Photo: Unsplash
Finally, you need clear rules. Children love to know what is and is not allowed and what rewards and punishments they can receive. When they understand what and how it works, they do not have a feeling of uncertainty. You don’t have to worry about what might happen. You just need to adjust the work to the existing structure. Well-formulated rules do not create restrictions, but, on the contrary, give freedom.
Once you learn how to work with children, working with adults will become child’s play for you. After all, each of us was once a child – and he still lives inside all of us. If you can satisfy the needs and desires of this inner child, you will win the trust of an adult.

Infant Care – 6 weeks to 17 months
Programs at the Y Children’s Academy are the first step down the path of educational progression at the Y. Early care activities are designed to meet the growth and developmental needs of each child through The Creative Curriculum (R), a research based, state approved teaching strategy. Starting at the infant level, youth are introduced to daily instruction that focuses on routines and experiences that grows with them, increasing their kindergarten readiness and promoting social-emotional development. Our trained staff provide a nurturing environment where your children will learn, grow and thrive in a safe environment. Financial assistance is available through the YMCA and other subsidies.

We communicate with parents to make certain your infant has everything they need and plan an individual schedule based upon their unique requirements and input from parents. Our toddler programs are aimed at letting kids grow and experience a variety of engaging games and ideas that will make them more aware of their individual talents and thought processes.
By presenting kids with a wide range of creative tasks and concepts, they begin to learn new things and use their ability to think through problems and apply their talents. For older kids from ages 5 to 12, we offer after school program and summer camp delivers them with a way to get outside and have fun while still maintaining a focus on learning and teachers who can help with homework.
All-day daycare with cameras to check up anytime through the internet enables parents to get things done with total peace of mind that their loved ones are in knowledgeable and capable hands.
All of our staff are certified in CPR and first aid, so no matter what happens you can be assured that they’ll be provided with rapid assistance at any time.
The Growing Tree Academy makes learning new things fun while giving kids the opportunity to take part in exciting activities and make new friendships that will last long into the future.

Interview with Ludmila Vainer (Joy Theatre, Houston)
– Hello, Lyudmila, please tell us about your theatre.
My name is Ludmila Weiner. I am the founder and artistic director of the Joy Children’s Theatre, Houston.
Theater in my life appeared quite by accident. Previously, I had never been even behind the scenes of professional theaters, and there were no prerequisites for this. It all started with the fact that my husband Efim and a team of his like-minded friends from Novosibirsk organized an adult theater group in Houston and began to stage performances. I witnessed this action, sat at rehearsals and saw how the puzzle of the whole performance is assembled from small episodes, skits. It was a miracle!!! And my youngest daughter Nastya, at that time she was 6-7 years old, began to rapidly lose her Russian language. This was the motivation in a playful way with her and the children of our friends to start staging performances. It was through the game, as if unobtrusively, that we expanded the vocabulary, intonation, and pronunciation. The children saw that this is a living, very beautiful language, our undoubted wealth.
First, our first play Cinderella was performed at home and in the homes of our friends, then we showed it in the “grandfather’s” garden for the elderly. It was a bombshell effect. Everyone was happy – both the children, their parents, and, most importantly, our elderly viewers. It gave us strength and confidence. And we went up and up. Creation of the theater “Joy”, regular rehearsals, premieres, tours of the cities of America and abroad (Germany, Greece, the Netherlands, Bulgaria, Russia, etc.), festivals, theater camps and other events. More than 300 children took to the big stage. “Tom Sawyer” our 29performance. We have already come to Austin with performances 6 times, many people know us and look forward to seeing you. We hope that the audience will also warmly welcome “Tom Sawyer”.
About the show
Funny and unusual adventures of Tom Sawyer and his friends will take viewers to the world of childhood, where unbridled fantasy and mischief reign. The life of the children of a small provincial town is full of important things: from painting the fence to removing warts. Little boy Tom, everyone’s favorite rogue and dreamer, in a short time manages to fall out of love with one girl and fall in love with another, test friendship for strength, become a witness to a murder and expose the insidious Indian Joe. He manages to completely change public opinion about himself.
This is a performance about children who become adults, and about adults who remain children at heart. The musical and exciting production will be interesting not only for younger teenagers, the same age as the characters, but also perfect for family viewing.
Interesting facts.
During the production of the play, our actors visited the town of Hannibal (Missouri), where Mark Twain spent his childhood, and it was there that the actions described in the novel were played out. This is the house where Tom lived, and the fence that Tom had to paint; the home of District Attorney Thatcher, Becky’s father; Aunt Polly’s shop. The guys visited the famous McDougal Cave, which is now renamed the Mark Twain Cave, sailed on a ship along the Mississippi, and even visited the cemetery, where dramatic events took place. Tickets for the performance can be purchased via Zelle at [email protected] (please enter your name and email address to receive confirmation of payment). Tickets will be waiting for you at the entrance. Ticket price is $20. Inquiries by phone 713-857-3520 (Lyudmila Weiner).
– Tell your story in America. Where did you study and work before Texas?
We moved to the States 25 years ago from the Republic of Dagestan under the refugee program (refugee). In Russia, I worked as a neuropathologist.
– Was Texas your choice or just a coincidence?
We ended up in Texas by coincidence, as my parents and relatives already lived in Houston.
– What do you like most about Texas?
I really like Houston precisely because of its everyday, routine life with excellent service in any institutions (cultural, polite people), a large Russian-speaking, very friendly community (I have been judging this by my children’s theater for 16 years), beautiful and comfortable houses (at we have a big house), roads, large parking lots, cleanliness and greenery everywhere.
In terms of tourism, of course, it’s boring, but you can travel everywhere.
– Please tell us about your profession and your work.
Here in America I work as a professional massage therapist and I love my job immensely. Helping people regain their health is at the core of my profession. And my medical experience only helps in this.
– Which of your creative projects do you remember the most, why?
All performances are expensive and unique, they are like your own children. There are no passing jobs. After all, you put your soul into every project. Many children and adults take part in it, who are already like family in your life.
– Do you participate in professional groups? If so, which ones?
Our team is amateur, but we take part in festivals and competitions where we are judged by professional directors and actors. If possible, I invite master classes of professional actors. And I consult with them. I went through a lot of professional trainings and continue to study and study.
– Please tell us about your family.
I have 4 children. Three of them went on a medical path – the eldest daughters Liza and Katya are dentists, the son Zhenya is an anesthesiologist. They already have their own families and children who have started going to our theater (we are also saving the Russian language). The younger Nastenka is an artist.
My husband is a faithful assistant, technical director and coordinator of our theatre. If the entire artistic component of the theater lies with me, then Yefim does all the technical and organizational work.
– What do you do outside of work? What are your interests and hobbies?
Husband, children, grandchildren, children’s theatre, massage, travel – and the circle is complete…
– What else would you like to tell about yourself?
I want as many children as possible to pass through the magic doors of the theatre, not to get the profession of an artist, but to acquire self-confidence, the ability to transform, express emotions, or, conversely, to hide them, to feel the shoulder of the team, remaining personality, to preserve the cultural heritage and beauty of the Russian language.

Caring for nature is, first of all, a tribute to oneself – “Ingushetia” – online newspaper
And it could not be otherwise. “The geography of a people is always a symbolic expression of the soul of a people,” wrote the philosopher N. Berdyaev to confirm this idea. Realizing the inextricable connection with their habitat, the highlanders took care of the surrounding nature: they cut down the forest, regretting it, realizing that it should be used not only as a source of warmth and comfort, but also protected for future generations.
“The tree was looked after for firewood ahead of time,” recalled Khusein Kharsiev, 1929 years of birth – they chose only the one that is crooked, dry, with a large hollow. And they hunted only at the time when the cubs of forest animals no longer needed parental care.
Ancestors perceived their natural abode as a natural state of their world order, cared about the rational use of natural resources, their preservation and enhancement.
As the famous writer Isa Kodzoev recalls in one of his programs, old people taught children from an early age to treat natural gifts with care. So, when collecting medicinal herbs, they explained that they should not be uprooted, they should be cut with a knife so that they could benefit people in the future. If a path had already been trodden in the forest, in the field or in the yard, it was impossible to leave it in order to trample down the grass cover as little as possible. Children were taught not to pluck grass, which is equivalent to pulling out a tuft of hair, etc. The hunters had the same careful attitude towards animals.
“They developed some specialization in their craft, including a careful attitude towards wild animals. Uncontrolled hunting of animals was not allowed. There was a ban on hunting animals while rearing offspring. Mining was regulated based on reasonable needs, objectively necessary and sufficient to maintain a normal life. They hunted mainly those species of animals that were massive, large and most accessible. No matter how many people were in the hunting group, more than 3-4 animals could not be killed. So, deer hunting was allowed only in the month of “sai laha butt” (the month when the deer trumpets), that is, October. Deer by this time were becoming competent. There were also certain groves where hunting was completely prohibited. It was also not allowed to touch a pregnant animal,” wrote Zeynep Dzarakhova, Doctor of Historical Sciences, in her research.
According to the stories of Lyuba Kaloeva, born in 1929, according to ancient legends, when garbage was burned, it was necessary to say loudly three times: “All living things, leave this place for a while.” It can be seen that these are echoes of paganism, but, nevertheless, this is also a kind of protection of the environment, in this case, living beings. It was impossible to catch and mock frogs, break an anthill, according to legend, this was punished by heavy rains.
There was also such an interesting parable that spoke of the cowardice of those who shot at birds. “They say that once the king of beasts asked the eagle: “Aren’t you afraid to soar openly above people?” To which the eagle replied: “A man will not shoot at me, and not a man will not hit. ”
I remember that grandmother Eset Shuturova said that it was forbidden to wash clothes in rivers and reservoirs so as not to pollute the water. It was necessary to collect it in a container and wash it no closer than 4-5 meters, then drain it there. Water, passing through the soil, was thus purified. The same was to be done during ablution, and in the case of washing hands, and bathing. For the latter purposes, places were allocated away from the settlement – both for ethical reasons and from the point of view of water protection.
Our ancestors also regulated the driving of cattle to pastures so that they would not turn into deserts. There are many such examples, but it is already clear that even in ancient times people cared about the reasonable use of natural resources, about their preservation and increase. These were the first feeble attempts to balance the use of natural resources and their restoration for future generations.
The Islamic idea of nature and man is also sacred, for both man and nature are creations of the Almighty. In Islam, a person is responsible for the preservation of the purity and beauty of nature. Islam condemns owners who for some reason do not cultivate their lands and at the same time do not cede them to anyone.
The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said that water, pastures and salt are common, considered it a sin to curse natural phenomena: “Do not scold nature, because it obeys the Lord.” The Qur’an also states that God created the heavens, the earth and animals to benefit people. It is the duty of every man to protect the earth and use its benefits proportionately.
The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) and his followers inspired people with care and love for animals, which made their work easier. It is considered a responsible sin to hit an animal. Any kind of treatment of animals that does not correspond to their purpose is prohibited. For example, you cannot ride a cow or put a load on its back. It is necessary to take care of good food and clean keeping of animals, especially horses. It is not allowed to cut off any part of the body of a living animal. It is also forbidden to make an animal a target for shooting.
It is not allowed to approach at night a place chosen by birds to rest. It is forbidden to arrange spectacles from the fight of birds and animals. It is also impossible to pluck feathers from a bird before its slaughter (killing for the purpose of eating or as a sacrifice).
Our religion forbids unreasonable aggression against our younger brothers. An authentic hadith tells how Allah rebuked one of his prophets, despite the fact that the prophets have a special exalted position in front of Allah. This story is about how Allah rebuked one of his prophets for burning an anthill because of one ant that bit him.
In the collection “As-Sahih” by Imam al-Bukhari, from the words of Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) it is reported that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: “Once one of the prophets stopped for a halt under a tree, and he was bitten by an ant, then he ordered to remove his equipment, and when he was removed from under the tree, he ordered that the dwelling of this ant be burned in the fire. And Allah inspired him in Revelation: “Was it not just one ant?!” Justice says that the innocent did not have to suffer for the guilty. This prophet was attacked by only one ant, and if there was a need for punishment, then it would be more correct to punish only one, without touching the rest. Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) taught us that it is our legitimate right to defend ourselves against people and animals attacking us. But the destruction of all ants by fire in this case has nothing to do with justice.
A special place in Islam is occupied by sacrifice, the meaning of which is not to kill an animal, but to donate part of one’s property in favor of the hungry. According to the teachings of Islam, on the Day of Judgment, a sparrow will rebuke a person: “Lord, he killed me in vain, without any benefit!”
According to Islam, it is forbidden to cut an animal in the presence of another animal. It is forbidden to sharpen a knife or other tool used for slaughtering in the presence of an animal. You can not cut the animal with a blunt knife, bringing him additional suffering.
It is considered a grave sin to throw any animal into the fire, even if it is a flea, mosquito or other small insect. There is a legend that some followers of Muhammad put bells on their feet so that small creatures, having heard the ringing, would move away and not fall under their feet. Thus, Islam, like most other religions, calls for environmental protection.
But, in spite of all this, with the development of technological progress, humanity is causing enormous damage to nature. As early as the beginning of the 20th century, it became obvious that it was necessary to take special and effective measures to protect nature. The problem of the impoverishment of the Earth is growing every time.
For example, 100 billion tons of minerals are removed from the Earth’s interior every year, more than 90% of which goes to waste. The rainforest has been destroyed by more than 40%. Its felling continues at a speed of more than 20 hectares per minute! Nearly 1,000 animal species and 25,000 plant species are now endangered. Mankind, having accumulated unheard-of technical power, is engaged in self-destruction. This means that the cause of nature conservation, like the cause of peace, concerns both the state and each of us.
In Ingushetia, under the protection of the state, there is a nature reserve “Erzi”, which began to function from 1993 years old This is a unique territory with a peculiar natural, mountainous landscape and historical and cultural values. There are about 119 species of animals, more than 340 herbs, including those listed in the Red Book.
Unfortunately, the descendants of their ancestors are not so thrifty with natural values. The visit to mountainous Ingushetia, which has become massive, has become disastrous. On the one hand, it is good when a national identity wakes up in the descendants, a desire to get to know their history closer, the cradle of the Ingush people. On the other hand, these are the remains of fires and garbage under centuries-old pines, these are polluted riverbeds, the most valuable sources of water – springs.
It’s time to think about this for everyone, and not just for the state reserve by the nature of its activity. I am pleased with the actions, teip raids to clean up the territory of their ancestral village and just the banks of the rivers, which have been taking place lately. But even this is not enough. Now, if everyone thinks about how great your contribution to the care of nature is, then this is priceless. In addition, taking care of the world around us is a tribute to oneself, since a person is a part of nature.

About International Day of Self Care
On July 24, the world celebrates International Self-Care Day. The date – 07/24 – was chosen to emphasize the main idea: in order to maintain health, it is important to take good care of yourself 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
The purpose of the holiday is to promote the concept of self-care as a vital foundation of health.
The day was established in 2011 at the initiative of the International Self-Care Foundation (ISF), a UK registered charity that promotes a healthy lifestyle.
What is “self-care”?
“Self-care” or Self-care is a fashionable principle in recent years that has become a kind of cultural phenomenon of the 21st century. Social media is full of instructions on how to take care of yourself. But do we know what this concept really means?
According to the World Health Organization (WHO), self-care is the ability of individuals, families and communities to promote health, prevent disease, maintain health, and manage disease and disability on their own or with the support of healthcare professionals. This concept recognizes people as active participants in protecting their own health. It does not replace the health care system, but opens up new possibilities.
Let’s turn to history
Self-care is not a new human activity. From the first stages of the formation of human society, people were independently responsible for their own health, as well as the health of their loved ones, trying to make medicines and apply them in various situations. As time went on, the need for increased health care capabilities increased.
The 19th century saw a great breakthrough in the field of healthcare, thanks to scientific and medical discoveries, technical advances in diagnosis and treatment, and the development of medicine as a professional branch. Patients gratefully passed this responsibility into the hands of doctors, who prescribed new, more effective drugs. The doctor became a mystical figure who possessed some kind of secret knowledge. Thus, a paternalistic approach was formed (from the Latin paternus – “paternal, fatherly”), which is still firmly rooted both in the minds of patients and in the practice of medical workers.
However, times are rapidly changing, and with them the needs of society are changing. The paternalistic approach every year is less and less suitable for modern reality.
Why?
-
A paternalistic approach is costly if applied to the majority of the population.
-
The level of education has risen, so people want to get more information and make decisions for themselves.
-
Lifestyle-related chronic diseases (cardiovascular disease, cancer, diabetes) have come out on top among the causes of death and disability, which means that only the person himself can influence their development.
According to the World Health Organization (WHO) in 2010, lifestyle diseases – heart attack and stroke, cancer, chronic respiratory diseases, diabetes – account for 63% of all causes of death in the world. In developed countries, this figure rises to 88%. This means that most premature deaths can be prevented by taking responsibility for one’s own health.
How to take care of yourself?
ISF has proposed a system of seven pillars of self-care.
1. Knowledge and health literacy. Often, medical information can be complex and confusing for a person whose activities are not related to medicine. Health literacy implies the ability to understand the data received, as well as to know where to find more information related to improving his health. It is also the ability to distinguish “good” information from “bad” information. Importantly, health literacy is a stronger predictor of a person’s health than income, employment status, education level, and racial or ethnic group.
2. Mental well-being. The World Health Organization defines mental health as a state of well-being in which a person realizes their potential, can cope with everyday stresses, can work productively, and is also able to contribute to their community. In addition to mental health, the second pillar of self-care experts include self-awareness and freedom of action. They are important because they are the starting point for any activity related to taking care of your own health.
3. Physical activity. Physical activity is any movement of the body produced by skeletal muscles that requires the expenditure of energy. It significantly improves health, fitness and mood. An active lifestyle can prevent many non-communicable diseases, such as cardiovascular disease, diabetes, colon and breast cancer, and dementia. Also, regular exercise gives a person many pleasant bonuses, among them: reduced stress, improved mental health, improved sleep, reduced risk of fractures, especially in older people. It’s never too late to start exercising, and for each age group, WHO has set its own rate of physical activity.
4. Healthy eating. Poor nutrition is one of the main risk factors for chronic noncommunicable diseases. The prevalence of overeating and consumption of low-nutrient, high-calorie foods has led to a global epidemic of obesity. Childhood obesity is a particularly acute problem, as an overweight child grows into an overweight adult who develops cardiovascular disease and diabetes earlier than their peers. Following the WHO recommendations for healthy eating will help improve health, as well as prevent a huge number of diseases, including several forms of cancer, heart attack and stroke.
5. Risk reduction. From a health perspective, risk reduction is the prevention of behavior that can lead to illness or death. Behavior that reduces health risks is the most affordable and easiest way to take care of yourself. What should be done to reduce the risk?
-
Make sure you are vaccinated. Be aware of when you need to be vaccinated, and also do not forget about the timing of revaccination.
-
Protect yourself from the sun. Avoid the midday sun, stay in the shade on a clear day, and use sunscreen. Excessive exposure to sunlight is harmful to the skin, vision, and immune system, and is a major cause of skin cancer.
-
Follow the safety rules when using transport. This is especially important, since unsafe driving threatens the health and life of not only the person himself, but also those around him. Try to drive carefully, always use seat belts, and when using a bicycle, do not forget about a helmet.
-
Give up alcohol and tobacco. The World Health Organization considers tobacco one of the biggest threats to public health and also mentions that there is no safe dose of alcohol for health.
-
Practice only safe sex. Most sexually transmitted infections can be avoided. To do this, experts recommend the use of a latex condom, regular examinations, and raising the level of literacy in matters of safe sex.
6. Good hygiene. Hygiene helps maintain health and prevents the spread of disease, particularly infections. Hand washing is the most important hygiene practice. This is a very simple yet highly effective way to reduce the spread of intestinal infections by more than 30%. It is enough to follow simple rules: you need to wash your hands with soap and water for at least 20 seconds, and then dry them thoroughly. Good hygiene habits also include proper food handling, regular oral care, and more.
7. Rational use of medicines and health services. A person’s proper use of medicines and other health products is an important element in maintaining good health and self-care. This empowers patients, for example, in easily recognizable conditions or exacerbation of chronic diseases after initial diagnosis by a specialist. What kind of goods and services can these be?
-
Prescription drugs after consulting a doctor.
-
Medicines available without a prescription.
-
Care products.
-
Natural health products.
-
Diagnostic tools (home blood pressure monitors, test strips, and so on).
-
Tools for quitting nicotine.
-
Wellness services (such as a gym membership).
-
Medical services (reflexology, massage and so on).
WHO considers self-medication one of the most important forms of self-care. Unfortunately, the irrational use of medicines is a huge problem all over the world. Therefore, it may seem that this kind of self-help will only exacerbate the situation with inadequate use of medications. However, experts believe that with the right level of education, self-medication can help people and improve their quality of life. To do this, you need to follow simple rules:
-
Always read the instructions and other information that you receive with your medicine.
-
Carefully follow the instructions in the instructions.
-
Make sure you can drive a car while taking this drug, and find out what other medicines you can’t take while taking this drug.
-
Ask your doctor or pharmacist to explain anything you don’t understand.
