Brian Austin Green introduced his beloved Sharna Burgess to children from Megan Fox

While the 35 year old
Megan Fox
went to support her 31-year-old lover Coulson Baker on
Barstool 500 Party concert in Indiana, the 47-year-old ex-husband of the actress stayed
along with their three sons, eight-year-old Noah, seven-year-old Bodie, and four-year-old
Jorney.

Helped Brian these days to cope with the parental responsibilities of his
beloved – dancer Sharna Burgess. Green introduced his passion to
children, and it seems that they became friends. The actor shared a picture in which
his sons and Burgess are having fun in the pool.

Sharna Burgess with sons Brian Austin Green and Megan Fox

In the comments, 35-year-old Sharna wrote that those were the best days, and put
emoticon in the form of a heart.

With Burgess actor
meets
since the end of last year. Apparently Megan doesn’t mind having them
with Green’s sons spent time with her. Sharna herself spoke warmly of
ex-wife of her boyfriend.

He is a wonderful father, and he and his wife, that is, the ex-wife, raised three
wonderful sons. And they are wonderful, sweet, kind and considerate. They
did an amazing job

– Burgess said in an interview.

Brian Austin Green with children

But here’s what
outrages
Fox, is that the ex-husband shares family pictures on social networks. She
believes that he defiantly shows what a good father he is, as it were
reproaching her for not being a good enough mother.

Why can’t you stop using children for “window dressing” in your
instagram? You’re so preoccupied with making me look like a mother
constantly not around, and portray yourself as the father of the year, – said Fox.

By the way, the children of the former couple met their mother’s boyfriend and also
got along great with him.

Noah’s parents, Bodie and Journey, however, are going to decide on
guardianship
over them through the courts. Recall that the breakup of Megan Fox and Brian Austin Green
announced
a year ago. They were married for 10 years.

The nipple in the mouth of a 4-year-old no longer bothers anyone)

I personally am also embarrassed by the appearance of male nipples, as well as female ones. I don’t understand why some are considered decent for public display and others are not. That’s why I’m for separate swimsuits for both sexes)))

Yes, they haven’t “raised three beautiful sons” yet. The oldest is only eight. Time will show.

Why can’t a father upload photos with his children? It’s crazy to immediately think that this is window dressing, he spent a lot of time in marriage with children. And no one bothers Megan not only to press sex on the photo, but also to post children
The new David is kinda cute. But the photo with spread legs straight bue

Pentagon chief Lloyd Austin said that Ukraine still has the strength to continue the counteroffensive. He made the corresponding statement at a joint press conference with the Prime Minister of Papua New Guinea James Marape in the city of Port Moresby, reports TASS .

“They are trying to overcome minefields and other obstacles, but they still have a lot of strength. When and how these forces are used will be decided on the basis of assessments of the situation by their leadership,” the head of the military department said, speaking about the Ukrainian side.

According to him, Kyiv still has “some possibilities” in terms of offensive operations.

“And we can expect them to keep putting pressure on us,” Austin added.

Recently, the New York Times, citing two representatives of the Pentagon, wrote that Ukraine began the main phase of its counteroffensive.

Previously, military analyst Allan Orr accused NATO that the counteroffensive of the Armed Forces of Ukraine is developing unsuccessfully. According to him, NATO did not supply Ukraine with sufficient resources for a counteroffensive and did not give Kyiv enough time to master new Western equipment.

July 23, the head of the Zaporozhye public movement “We are together with Russia” Vladimir Rogov told that the new phase of the offensive of the Armed Forces of Ukraine is designed for the period from the end of July to the middle of August.

Earlier in the US, named one of the greatest threats to the APU.

Summer Camp in Ohio for Kids and Teens

About Us

Where Good Things Happen by Design

At Falcon Camp, we have designed an intentional program aimed at creating a summer of fun, adventure and learning for our campers. Through programs designed to increase independence, self-confidence and self-discovery, we encourage campers to choose what they like, and excel in those activities. With a 1:4 camper to counselor ratio, your camper will feel supported, mentored and supervised throughout their time with us. Located in the woods on a lake in Carrollton, Ohio, our camp provides a unique, off-the-grid experience for young people aged 6-16. We also run a special, one-week Young Adventures program designed specifically for our first-time campers between the ages of 6 and 10.

“Best two weeks of my life!” – Finn T.

Parents and campers alike love the Falcon Camp experience. Check out our testimonials to see what they have to say about their summers with us.

90,000 A year ago, the US Supreme Court allowed the states to ban abortion. Now it is clear how disastrous the consequences of this decision were. Women die in childbirth. Doctors beaten by activists

A year ago, at the end of June 2022, the US Supreme Court ruled that abortion is not a constitutional right, and the decision on its legality must be left to the discretion of the authorities of a particular state. This is what conservatives have been striving for the last 50 years – a year later, in a number of states, abortion is either completely prohibited or seriously restricted. At the request of Meduza, Yan Veselov, a political scientist and author of One Big Union, a telegram channel about American politics, talks about how the topic of abortion has divided the United States and what is happening with reproductive freedoms in the country.

In the early 1970s, many Democrats were in favor of a ban on abortion, while Republicans were against it. But then everything changed

Abortion in the United States has long been an important issue in political discussion, but it has become one of the central topics only in the last half century. In the early 1970s, an active campaign for the legalization of abortion began in the country, which was supported by both left-wing feminist groups like the National Organization for Women (NOW) and some Republican activists who believed that the state should not interfere in the personal lives of Americans. K 19In 1973, they achieved the complete or partial repeal of anti-abortion laws in 17 states, including New York and California, where Republicans Nelson Rockefeller and Ronald Reagan were then governors.

In the same year, the Supreme Court, in the famous Roe v. Wade case, recognized the constitutional right of American women to have an abortion. Despite some changes, this decision continued to be valid for 49 years and enjoyed the support of the majority of Americans. However, there were also many opponents of women’s right to abortion all these years. In addition, the ruling of the Supreme Court divided into two camps not only the population of the country, but also members of the two main political parties.

In 1969, mother-of-two Norma McCorvey became pregnant for the third time. She wanted to have an abortion, but it was forbidden in Texas. Hiding under the pseudonym Jane Roe, she decided to sue the state authorities, demanding that their law be declared unconstitutional. She successfully challenged the law first in federal court and then in the Supreme Court, where seven of the nine judges sided with her.

They made a decision on the basis of the concept of the “right to privacy” (right to privacy), which, although it was not enshrined in the Constitution textually, but, according to the judges, was assumed based on the totality of its provisions (guided by the same logic, The Supreme Court had previously declared unconstitutional prohibitions on the use of contraceptives, interracial and same-sex marriages).

Although the court recognized the right to abortion as fundamental, it still left the states the ability to legally restrict women in terminating a pregnancy depending on the term: during the first trimester, any restrictions were prohibited; during the second trimester, state authorities could already introduce them if they were aimed at protecting the health of the mother; from the third trimester, a complete ban on termination of pregnancy was allowed, with the exception of cases of a threat to the life of the mother.

The main opponents of abortion in the United States at 19In the 1970s, there were Catholics who then mostly voted for the Democratic Party, while Protestant churches, such as the largest of them, the Southern Baptist Convention, took a more moderate position, allowing partial legalization. Trying to get the votes of that part of the Democrats, in 1972 Republican Richard Nixon ran for president with an anti-abortion program – and won.

But then there was no unity on the issue of abortion either among Republicans or Democrats. Became president at 19In 1976, Republican Gerald Ford opposed the Supreme Court decision in Roe v. Wade, but was supported by his wife, Betty Ford, and Vice President Nelson Rockefeller. Ford’s successor in the White House, Democrat Jimmy Carter, and young Delaware Senator (and today US President) Joe Biden personally did not agree with the legalization of abortion, although they supported it in their political decisions, while Vice President Walter Mondale was a staunch supporter of the right to abortion.

In 1977, four years after the Supreme Court decision, in one opinion poll, 39% of Republicans and 34% of Democrats said they supported the full legalization of abortion. When a constitutional amendment abolishing the right to abortion was introduced in the Senate in 1983, 31 Democrats and 19 Republicans voted against it, while 34 Republicans and 15 Democrats supported it.

By the late 1980s, Republicans and Democrats began to take more unequivocal positions on the issue of abortion. The Democrats were becoming an increasingly diverse coalition, with the growing influence of women’s rights activists, non-whites, and the LGBTQ community. And within the Republican Party, the conservative movement of the religious right began to dominate, seeking to unite Catholics and evangelical Protestants in opposition to leftist liberalism.

For church evangelists and activists like Phyllis Schlafly, the topic of abortion has become one of the topics of banning prayers in schools, LGBTQ rights, and rising divorce rates. Opposing the ratification of the constitutional Equal Rights Amendment, Schlafly called abortion a “tool of feminism”: “Women’s liberation is an attack on the American woman’s role as wife and mother, and on the family as the basic unit of society. Feminists are trying to make wives and mothers unhappy with their careers… They are promoting abortion instead of the family.

As a result, some liberal Republicans began to vote for the Democratic Party, while conservative Democrats (especially in the southern states) went to the Republicans – both parties became more homogeneous in their ideology. Politicians also got involved: for example, Republican and anti-abortion George W. Bush, who previously supported the Supreme Court’s decision in Roe v. Wade, became president in 1988. And in 1992, he was defeated by Democrat and supporter of the right to abortion Bill Clinton, who had previously opposed them.

In 2022, the right to abortion was declared unconstitutional. Trump helped a lot (he’s happy with himself)

Since the late 1980s and early 1990s, pro-abortion Republican politicians, like anti-abortion rights Democrats, have become a small minority in both parties. And in every presidential election, Democratic candidates have talked about defending the right to abortion, while Republicans have promised to appoint conservative justices to the Supreme Court who will overturn Roe v. Wade. However, at Senate hearings, the judges always refused to review it and emphasized that they respect the established precedent.

It is important to note that since the 1970s, most Supreme Court justices have been appointed by Republican presidents. But not all of them were conservative, especially on the issue of abortion. The situation changed during the presidency of Donald Trump (2017-2021), who in the late 1990s “advocated for the freedom of choice of women”, although he was “very negative” about abortion, and in the spring of 2016 during his election campaign said that he ” for life” and that his “views have changed.”

As president, Trump appointed three conservative judges at once to replace the moderate Anthony Kennedy and the liberal Ruth Ginsburg, giving the conservatives a majority of six seats to three for the liberals (Trump believes that in this way he contributed to the abolition of the constitutional right to abortion in June 2022, and proudly declares that “after 50 years of failure, I was able to kill Roe vs. Wade”).

At the same time, the authorities of the Republican states have passed anti-constitutional laws restricting abortions before, in the hope that the Supreme Court will agree to take their case for consideration after a ban by a lower court. Between 2017 and 2020, 45 states passed 250 abortion-related laws, 88% of which tightened access to abortion. Several states have gone even further by passing so-called “heartbeat laws” to ban abortions after the fifth or sixth week of pregnancy. Immediately after receiving the lawsuit, the courts recognized all these laws as unconstitutional and canceled them.

But the Conservatives nevertheless achieved their goal, and in 2021 the new composition of the Supreme Court began to consider the case of Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization, which challenged the prohibition of termination of pregnancy after the 15th week of pregnancy in Mississippi. In May 2022, Politico published a draft decision in this case, from which it was clear that the right to abortion was going to be cancelled. The court recognized that the draft was genuine, but stated that it did not reflect his position. However, the final decision, issued on June 24, 2022, largely repeats this draft.

Five of the nine judges concluded that the right to terminate a pregnancy is “not enshrined in the US Constitution”, “not rooted in the history and tradition of the country”, and therefore cannot be considered “fundamental” and is subject to any restrictions by state authorities. In his decision, Judge Samuel Alito pointed out that “until the second half of the 20th century, such a right was completely unknown in American law”:

When the 14th Amendment to the Constitution was passed, three-quarters of the states made abortion a crime – at all stages of pregnancy. The decision in Roe v. Wade was wrong from the start. His reasoning was exceptionally weak, and this decision had devastating consequences. It did not resolve the issue of abortion, but only fueled debate and deepened divisions.

Conservative judge Clarence Thomas, who upheld the new decision, called for going even further and using the same arguments to declare unconstitutional and allow states to ban contraception and same-sex marriage, and criminalize homosexuality. Liberal judges noted that, guided by such logic, the court should have abolished the right to interracial marriages. Perhaps this is how they wanted to poke Thomas, an African American married to a white woman.

Women from conservative states are hardest hit by the ban, especially those who don’t make very much money

By July 2023, abortion is banned in 13 states. Others—Georgia, Florida, Iowa, South Carolina, and Ohio—have introduced severe restrictions that allow abortions only in the first six weeks of pregnancy, or prohibit abortions after the 12th or 15th week of pregnancy.

In some states, bans never went into effect because local courts found them unconstitutional or blocked them pending review. In 26 states, abortion remains legal for at least the first three months of pregnancy, and in 14 of them, the right to abortion is guaranteed by the local constitution.

In addition to the legality of abortions, the issue of their availability is also acute. It is not uncommon for the entire state to have only one clinic or none at all due to numerous legal restrictions that make it difficult for them to work. Most of all, this problem affects women from the poor and socially disadvantaged, who cannot afford long trips for abortions in states where it is easier to do it.

Things are about to get tough for wealthier American women as Republican lawmakers debate criminalizing abortion travel in more liberal states.

The first such law appeared in Idaho in March 2023, although it has so far limited itself to a ban on abortions for minors without parental consent: relatives, friends or other people who will assist in an abortion can receive two to five years in prison. At the same time, local congresswoman Lauren Necochea emphasizes, minors cannot always ask their parents for permission to terminate a pregnancy.

“It could be domestic violence. These can be any circumstances that make a 17-year-old girl not feel safe in front of her parents. But maybe she has an older sister who can help her,” she explains.

In addition, in some states there have already been cases where the abortion ban is contrary to federal emergency law: hospitals refuse to terminate a pregnancy for medical reasons and force a woman to go through stillbirth in fear of possible persecution by the authorities.

For example, in Texas, Amanda Zurawski, along with four other women, sued the state after they were denied an abortion despite having medical complications. Speaking at a hearing in the local legislature, she said that she had an abortion only when she went into septic shock: the future.”

The situation with medical abortion drugs, their sale in local pharmacies and the ability to send them by mail is not fully understood – this creates conditions for illegal trade. A lawsuit is now pending in one of the federal courts demanding that the license of mifepristone, which is used for medical abortion, be revoked. But even if the court decides not to ban it, by law the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) can challenge its order or refuse to comply with it.

If states take these steps, it will affect the lives of millions of American women. About 53% of all abortions in the United States (and 64% of abortions at an early stage, before ten weeks of pregnancy) are performed without surgery. In some states, their share exceeds 70%. About 40% of U.S. abortion clinics do it exclusively with medication – including 80 telemedicine centers that the federal government has simplified in 2021 amid the coronavirus epidemic. Medical abortion is much easier, cheaper, and more convenient; since 2000, mifepristone and another drug, misoprostol, have been used by 5.6 million women in the United States.

While there is no talk of a ban on the use of misoprostol yet, all this creates a lot of uncertainty. 19 conservative states already require patients to receive abortion drugs only in person. The FDA allowed pharmacy chains to sell mifepristone and ship it by mail, and in response, attorneys general in 20 Republican states began to threaten large drugstore chains CVS and Walgreens with prosecution for selling abortion drugs.

Moreover, during the year in these states a whole network of illegal distribution of such drugs has already developed. Mexico became the base for it, from where several organizations send mifepristone to the United States at once. Among them is Las Libres, a feminist group founded in 2000 to help survivors of domestic violence and abortions. Initially, it helped provide access to drugs for women in Mexico, but since 2022 it has switched to the United States. All medicines are sent free of charge. “We wanted to help women in Texas because we experienced first hand what they faced,” says Las Libres founder Veronica Cruz Sanchez.

At first, the organization sent about ten doses of mifepristone each day, but then the volume increased to one hundred doses. The organization exists on private donations that it receives from Mexico and the United States. Now, thanks to Las Libres, about 20,000 women in the United States perform medical abortions a year — about 20% of all legal abortions that were performed in 2019 in states where they are now completely banned. For safety, tablets are usually hidden in boxes from other drugs. Then they are sent by mail or transported across the border with the help of volunteer couriers. In the United States, about 250 volunteers cooperate with the organization, among them activists, doctors, nurses, and even priests of some churches.

The number of crimes against abortion doctors and maternal mortality (which is already very high in the country) has increased over the year in the United States. age group) live in states where abortion has been completely banned or severely restricted. The time it takes to travel for an abortion has tripled on average, from 30 minutes to over an hour and a half, and in some states like Texas and Louisiana to seven hours.

Funds that help pay for abortions for those who do not have enough funds have been forced to double the cost per patient.

The director of one of these funds, Anna Rupani notes:

Many of those who call us do it for the first time. Perhaps they never went through airport security. And now, since all the states around Texas have also banned abortion, they are forced to make these two, three, four day trips to the other side of the country.

The abortion ban has already had consequences that the authorities hardly thought about. 68% of OB/GYN practitioners report that it has led to complications in cases of serious emergency problems in women, and 64% note its negative impact on maternal mortality, which is one of the highest among developed countries in the United States. Dozens of universities are forced to abandon obstetrician-gynecologist training programs or change them so that they comply with new laws. Enrollment for similar programs in ban states is already down by 10%, and more than 75% of medical students say they don’t intend to practice there.

According to some reports, the number of abortions nationwide fell by about 3.5% in a year, and a sharp drop in the number of procedures in states where they were limited was partially offset by an increase in states with liberal laws. For example, in Illinois, the number of patients increased by 54%, and in Colorado, the proportion of people who came from other states increased from 14 to 28% – and most of them were residents of Texas. During the year, more than 60 abortion clinics closed in 20 states, but more than 40 new ones opened in the rest, often near the borders with those states where abortion is prohibited.

According to the National Abortion Federation’s annual report, crime against abortion clinics has skyrocketed in 2022. Twice – arsons of clinics and more than three times – robberies and harassment of workers and patients. The number of death threats and mine-laying calls is on the rise. For the first time in recent decades, cases of sending envelopes with white powder and the inscription “anthrax” have become more frequent. Since more than 80% of clinics closed in the first hundred days in the states that banned abortion after the Supreme Court decision, in 2022, most of the crimes against abortion clinics occurred in states where abortion remains legal.

Most Americans are in favor of reproductive freedom. And it will be reflected in the agenda of the 2024 presidential election

According to the latest Gallup poll, 34% of Americans believe that abortion should be legal in all cases, and 13% – in most cases. Another 36% are in favor of the legality of abortion only in a small number of cases, and only 13% are in favor of a complete ban. Almost 70% support the legality of termination of pregnancy during the first three months of pregnancy, but the majority are in favor of prohibitions at later stages. At the same time, 61% of respondents have a negative attitude towards the cancellation of Roe v. Wade, and 38% are positive. Similar data can be found in other surveys.

In only seven states, less than half of respondents are in favor of the legality of abortion. But none of them has much support for a complete ban on abortion (the highest figure is 14%).

Despite this, anti-abortion activists in several states are accusing Republicans of not being forceful enough in enforcing new bans and are calling on all candidates running in the GOP presidential primaries to pledge to ban abortion nationwide. Others, like Donald Trump, say the party’s extreme stance on abortion has led to poor results in the 2022 election and other campaigns. For example, in April 2023, the Democrats won a majority in the Wisconsin supreme court, and their candidate, liberal judge Janet Protasevich, promised to return legal status to abortion in the state.

Many voters (especially those who voted for the first time) do note that the attitude of candidates towards abortion was an important factor for them. In all six abortion-related referendums since the repeal of Roe v. Wade, reproductive liberties have won—even in conservative states like Ohio and Kentucky. Now activists are collecting signatures to organize referendums to introduce the right to abortion in the constitution of other states, such as Florida, Missouri, South Dakota, Ohio and Oklahoma.

The topic of abortion will inevitably be reflected in the agenda of the 2024 presidential election. Despite the fact that in the 1970s Joe Biden was an opponent of reproductive freedom, now the protection of the right to abortion will be the main topic of his election campaign.

Rainbow read online by Patricia Potter (Page 9)

This was, Meredith suspected, the real reason why Gil was after her. Combined, the Seaton and McIntosh plantations would dominate the area. She thought of Gil McIntosh. He was tall and thin, serious and painfully shy around women. She also knew that he was a good rider and a real farmer. But she will never marry a planter, never marry a man who owns slaves. Never. Never. So she will never marry.

Meredith had a dream. When everything is over, when she finds Lisa, they will go to Canada together, and she will paint. Without hiding, draw as she really can. She will no longer hide behind someone else’s name. Painting will be the most important thing for her. All she will need is painting and Lisa, a true friend. She will never hand over her life and fate to another person, especially a man.

She looked innocently at her brother.

– I’ll ask Daphne to try and put on … I’ll wear a lilac dress!

Robert blinked rapidly.

— Why don’t you wear the burgundy dress Evelyn gave you?

– Oh, it’s too simple. Yes, I think lilac is the best.” She gave him a big smile and rushed out of the office, imagining her brother tapping his fingers absently on the table. Poor Gil. Poor, poor Robert.

Returning to her room, Meredith released Daphne. She wanted to be alone. She sat down in the armchair by the window, the same armchair from which she had watched Lisa being taken away, and glanced over at Briarwood lying in front of her. House. The house where she was a stranger.

Meredith felt overwhelmed by the old painful loneliness, the longing for caresses, for a look warmed by love. She felt her lips tremble. From time to time, always unexpectedly, she had similar … seizures, they always had a devastating effect. Only one thing has always saved her. Painting. Making the world not so lonely, not so hostile.

She moved away from the window and took out her paint bag. She had previously made sketches of the view from the window, and painted a huge oak tree, which, like a sentry, stood at the window, and fields where the harvest was ripening. They were white now, covered with small balls of cotton, reminiscent of the rare local snow she had once seen in New Orleans. She could see bowed figures; their hands, she knew, moved quickly and deftly from stalk to stalk. The workers—men, women, and even children over the age of seven—would return home at sunset, hunched over from bending over all the time.

Her hand caught the movements, but not the faces hidden by the bonnets and worn wide-brimmed hats that protected their wearers from the pitiless afternoon sun. When all the cotton is harvested, there will be a party with food and drinks from Robert, dancing and fun, maybe there will be weddings. And at home, Robert will give the traditional annual ball, which will bring together planters from all over the area and compare who has the best harvest. And then work will begin again to prepare the fields for the next sowing. This circle never stopped, the work never got smaller.

Meredith looked at the canvas. Well done. She realized that the picture was a success. There was a tense strength in the figures and an indomitable pride in the silhouette of a woman who, alone of all, stood straight, turned to the sun. Although it was impossible to see her face, the whole pose was unmistakably defiant.

The body can be chained, but not the soul.

Levi Coffin said this at a lecture that Meredith attended in Cincinnati. She remembered those words because they touched her as much as they did those she helped.

Daphne knocked on the door. It’s been two hours already! She hurriedly hid the canvas in a painted chest at the foot of her bed. This is a completely safe place. She turned the key and slipped it behind the metal upholstery. She rarely ventured to paint here, but this sudden bout of melancholy just needed a release. She already felt better. Elias will be happy to get another painting and the money it brings. Tonight, when everyone is asleep, she will finish it. The anticipation of work will make the evening tolerable.

The table, set with porcelain and crystal, shone in the glare of light cast by hundreds of faceted pendants on a candelabra, swaying from the flame of candles. Evelyn, always full of hope, dressed up as if she were the marriageable girl and not her unloved sister-in-law.

Gil felt uncomfortable in an old-fashioned blue waistcoat and trousers; His light brown, gentle eyes were fixed on Meredith, who was demonstrating her vast knowledge of politics.

“Mr. Fremont is so handsome and brave,” she chirped carelessly.

“He’s a Republican.” There was horror in her brother’s voice. He turned to Gil and shrugged. “Those women… It’s damn good that they can’t vote.

Meredith bit her lip to keep from making a sharp reply.

“I agree with one thing,” Gil said softly. – He’s really brave. Thanks to him, we got California.

“But California is a free state,” Robert replied bitterly. “Mark my words, we will still fight over slavery. There is already bloodshed in Kansas and Missouri. The damn northerners won’t rest until they’ve razed our lives to the ground.

– Oh, war! Meredith said. – That sounds amazing. Military uniforms and balls and trumpets and columns of warriors marching to battle with the Yankees.

“There is nothing exciting about war,” Gil said quietly.

“Oh la,” she said carelessly, “it seems to me that war is very romantic. I’m sure you’ll all look very handsome and heroic.” She looked at them both dreamily. Isn’t it, Robert?

Robert studied his neighbor. Gil McIntosh rarely spoke, and Robert didn’t know where his sympathies belonged, despite the fact that Gil was a slave owner. Indeed, his neighbor was one of the largest slave owners in their part of Mississippi.

— What if there really is a war, Gil?

Gil carefully put down his napkin.

“Slaves make up half of my property,” he said. “My grandfather and father made a fortune on them. I have no choice – I have to use them, otherwise I will go bankrupt. Then they will simply be sold out, and it will be even worse than now. But I don’t like slavery. I never liked it, and if I saw any way out, I would use it. I would not fight to keep slavery.

“What the hell are you talking about,” Robert snapped, while Meredith looked at Gil with complete disbelief. Such a statement in Mississippi bordered on undermining the foundations.

Gil shrugged.

– Sometimes I think that I am even more in bondage than they are. We may all be slaves, Robert.

Evelyn abruptly changed the subject, inviting Gil to the ball she and Robert would give when the cotton was harvested.

“I would be very glad,” he replied simply, turning to Meredith and adding, “If Meredith will do me the honor of dancing with me.”

She felt a strange chill inside her, as if he saw more in her than anyone else. She nodded hastily, trying to maintain the blank look she had trained herself to look at. Gil McIntosh was not at all what she had imagined him to be. But even he would frown at what she was up to. From his point of view, as from the point of view of the Others, it was no less shameful than stealing money.

At Robert’s request, she walked Gil to the door, all the while asking herself what he saw in her that aroused his interest. Maybe she didn’t play her part very well. This frightened her.

But she realized that she was wrong, because he just bowed at the door, said that everything was “delightful”, and left. She saw him jump on his horse, and all his clumsiness disappeared.

Robert came up and stood next to her.

“Maybe I was wrong about him,” he muttered. “It would never have crossed my mind to have such conversations.

“Oh, it’s all chic,” Meredith said. All you men are like that. If someone says one thing, then the other must necessarily say something else. Just to argue. I’d rather talk about parties and who’s courting who.

Robert looked at her strangely and cursed to himself. God alone knows what will happen to Briarwood if Meredith succeeds him. She just needs to get married.

That night Meredith finished her painting, but her thoughts were still restless. It is good, of course, that in general her work suits her, it remains only to correct the sky and the river in the background.

She was twenty-four years old, and until this summer she had never paid much attention to men. Now she couldn’t sleep without remembering Captain Devreaux, and this evening Gil McIntosh had also aroused some feelings in her. These were not the thunder and lightning that Devreaux had evoked in her, it seemed, by his mere presence, but something more tender, something pleasant.

She looked at the canvas, at the proud figure in the center. Without realizing it, she straightened her back in the same way and raised her head.

Meredith locked the painting in a chest. Maybe tomorrow she will go to the Pastor. He has always been a source of peace for her. If only the eyes of the damned captain hadn’t pursued her so insistently!

The dawn was clear and bright. Meredith felt tired from lack of sleep. After taking a hot bath prepared by Daphne, she quickly dressed in one of her many riding outfits. Like everything else she wore, the red was too bright, the decorative buttons too prominent, the fabric too heavy. Everything was a little too much. Tasteless, she thought with a kind of perverse satisfaction.

But instead of going straight to where she was going with her paint bag and sketch pad, she set off on the road, only to find herself drifting off the path. For years she has avoided this part of the forest because it reminds her of Lisa and the few happy days of her childhood. Meredith quickly found that tree. The swing was gone, the rope and board were rotten, and the small clearing was overgrown. But she remembered everything.

Meredith heard laughter. His own… And his laughter. As she flew higher and higher into the sky, he mingled with the song of the wind. She closed her eyes, trying to catch the sound of his voice. Still not cynical. Not funny yet. He was carefree, sincere, cheerful. As did Lisa’s laugh when it was her turn to rock. Lisa was afraid to swing as high as Meredith, and Quinn Devreaux soothed her with care and tenderness and made the usually shy Lisa laugh.

He stood in front of her eyes, tall, with a slight smile and eyes beaming with laughter. At the thought of him, handsome, gentle, proud, she felt warmth all over her.

A sudden gust of cold wind scratched her cheek, bringing her back to the present. She glanced at the tree again. There were no children. Only a piece of tattered rope hung from the tree, swaying in the gusts of wind. Illusion. She saw what she wanted to see, not what really happened. She remembered what she wanted to remember, and nothing more. Probably even then cruelty appeared in him, but the child did not want to notice it.

Meredith shook her head. She needs to get rid of this obsession. Necessary. He was just like that rotten piece of rope.

Without looking back, she found a fallen tree and climbed onto her horse. She had a long road to the Pastor.

His name was Jonathan Ketchtower, but everyone just called him Pastor, and he and Elias, a Quaker in New Orleans, connected Meredith with the Underground Railroad. They provided her with a list of runaway slave stations and reported what was happening across the network. Sometimes they cheered her up, and she needed courage.

The pastor was, frankly, the best person she had ever met, and the bravest, because he was the one who often got in the way of dogs and runaway slave hunters, thus helping the slaves get to safety.

As she drove up, Meredith heard one of Pastor’s dogs barking and knew he was home. She whistled as he had taught her, and the dog immediately fell silent. The pastor worked miracles with animals, and Meredith marveled at how he could do it.

When he saw her, he smiled broadly, and she couldn’t help but smile back at him. He had long, straight, smooth hair, which he often pushed back impatiently with his hand. His beard was ragged, which gave him a harmless and gentle appearance, and his eyes changed from penetrating to completely indifferent in a matter of seconds. No one could look more harmless when they needed to, and no one, Meredith suspected, could do that much.

“Merry,” he said cheerfully, “come in.” Have you eaten anything?

She shook her head. She left before breakfast, before Evelyn could catch her and start extolling the virtues of Gil McIntosh.

“Well, all right,” he said, “I have fresh bread and some honey, one of my friends sent me.

He took her to a small, clean house. A wicker rug covered the floor, and under the floor, Meredith knew, was a secret room. All that was in the house was a simple bed neatly made, a table and two chairs, a few hooks driven into the wall from which the Pastor’s black robe hung, and finally a large fireplace. It amazed her how all this, so invisible and poor, could be so cozy. Pastor’s simple dwelling seemed more like a home than her own plantation mansion.

Soon he made tea and they enjoyed eating together.

“Tell me about your journey,” the Pastor asked after they had eaten, and he leaned back in his chair and lit his pipe. The pipe and animals were his only passion.

– I found a man on the Graves plantation and gave him the name of the first station, a compass and some money. He can leave at any time,” she said. He promised to wait a month. Maybe there will be another one with him.

— Have you heard anything about Lisa?

— No. But I found another girl, Daphne. She was a plantation maid who was sold. She is very fearful and insecure. Maybe in a few months you will help her escape to the North.

“It’s dangerous,” Pastor replied. “You know we don’t advise helping our own slaves escape.

“I know,” she replied. “But I look at Daphne and think of Lisa and the pain she must have gone through.

— Can’t she herself?

Meredith shrugged helplessly.

— I don’t know… not now… maybe in a while…

The pastor looked at Meredith warmly. He wasn’t sure about her at all when Levvi Coffin asked him to talk to her. There were very few members of the Underground Railroad among slave families; this system has grown into their blood and flesh, has become too big a part of their lives for them to challenge it. He knew that some of them succeeded and were of great benefit, since they usually had the opportunity to move more freely than other members of the organization.

It’s been five years since Meredith became part of this system, and he has never been disappointed with it. She was of an exceptionally bright, mature nature and possessed a highly developed sense of duty, which was rarely found in a person of her age. And very few women would voluntarily pretend to be fools and give the best years of their lives to serving an idea, helping a friend.

The Underground Railroad was a secret amateur organization whose members had only one common desire – to help runaway slaves. The participants themselves also brought new people, feeling in them a desire to participate in this. There was no formal organization, no lists. One knew the other, that one knew the third, and so on. Some, like Pastor, knew the entire network and passed the information on to those who needed it. He informed Meredith about those who could help her in the places she went, but no more. Nobody just talked about anything. There has never been a betrayal in the underground organization, and everyone wanted it to be so forever.

— When did you return? – he asked.

— A few weeks ago, on the Lucky Lady. His black bushy eyebrows drew back slightly.

— On the Lucky Lady?

— Do you know anything about this ship? she asked with an interest that surprised her.

— Yes, rumors.

“About the captain, of course,” Meredith said indignantly. Or who he is.

— You didn’t like him?

“I’ve never met a more arrogant and cruel person,” Meredith replied hotly.

The pastor leaned back in his chair, showing that he was waiting for her to continue.

– He has a slave. He’s mutilated and scarred all over his back.

— How do you know the captain did it?

“He admitted it himself,” she replied. “And the slave told my maid.

“I heard something,” Pastor said thoughtfully. “You said he admitted it himself?” Have you talked to him?

— He invited Opal and me to dinner. Along with hunters for runaway slaves.

Pastor’s expression did not change.

“Very interesting,” he remarked in an indifferent voice.

— Deserving of contempt, — she answered. His mouth twisted into a faint smile.

— Who are they?

– Brothers named Carroll. I drew their portraits and made descriptions, and you pass them on.” She pulled out a sketch pad and handed him two sheets of paper. He looked at them carefully, noting the confident strokes and admiring her work. She had a good memory for faces and places. He was surprised that she could not see anything in the captain of the ship. Usually her intuition did not fail her.

– Tell me more about the captain.

“Besides being a gambler, it’s clear that he’s a scoundrel and a swindler,” Meredith replied, blushing a little as she remembered his kisses.

— He didn’t try to… hit on you? Pastor asked uncertainly.

Meredith hesitated. Could this angry, mocking kiss be considered as harassment? She was sure that he only did it in response to her slap. Why did she hit him? Not for what he did or said, but more for the sheer invitation in his eyes. An invitation that some vulnerable, defenseless part of her soul really wanted to answer.

“No,” she finally answered, but the pause made Pastor think.

There was a moment of silence between them, and he recited a prayer to himself. He knew Quinn Devreaux as well as Meredith Seaton, and he knew they both had to keep their feelings in check. Both of them were passionate natures, otherwise they would not have been able to do what they did. But they hid that thrill behind a mask, a carefully crafted mask, and he dreaded to imagine what might happen if the masks fell.

He realized that he would have to do everything to keep them apart. He could tell from the blush on Meredith’s cheeks that the first sparks had already fallen between the two. In supplication, he raised his eyes to heaven. He must prevent them from meeting. Anyway. The problem was that both agents were unusually stubborn. God help them if they start stubborn together.

But the Pastor had to be insincere. He had to learn this in the ten years that he worked on the Railroad.

“I think that Captain Devreaux can be very dangerous.” The sense of necessity drowned out the pain of guilt at being deceitful. “The wisest course of action is to avoid this ship.

She nodded.

School “Perspektiva” for special children will move to Topolevaya

A new school for 1,100 students on Rodniki will be completed in winter

The Perspektiva School for Children with Health Disabilities is about to move from Potaninskaya Street to the building on Topolevaya Street. This will double the occupancy rate. If earlier more than 130 children studied at the school, now the doors will be opened for 200 children with cerebral palsy, autism and epilepsy. Communications have already been installed, facade work and finishing of classrooms are being completed. They will be chamber – such is the specificity of training.

8-10 people in the class – no more. Special students need an individual approach. The queue to the Perspektiva school is long; before, you had to huddle in half of the kindergarten building. Now there will be a place not only for learning, but also for adaptation.

“We previously opened a resource class on the territory of another school – we rented it. Here we have room for the resource class to be not one, but two. These are classes for children with emotional-volitional disorders. They adapt, then we include them in regular classes,” says Tamara Voronetskaya, director of the Perspektiva school for children with disabilities.

Ramps, wide doorways and two floors so that you do not have to climb high stairs – all the health features of students are taken into account here. Also, an outdoor sports ground with a rubberized coating was made in the school yard. The area continues to be landscaped. They promise to complete the overhaul of the building by the beginning of the school year and arrange a solemn assembly, as in all schools. By this time, they plan to lay new asphalt on the road leading to the building.

“She was not in the plans for this year. But we understood that if we open a new school, then we need a new road to it. The Department of Transportation is working hard today. At the expense of saved funds, due to non-standard solutions, the road and sidewalks are being repaired. Accessibility issues are also taken into account here,” says Novosibirsk Mayor Anatoly Lokot.

In addition to the sidewalk, according to the plan, there are also many parking spaces to make it more convenient for parents to bring students with limited mobility to study.

Recently, the New York Times, citing two Pentagon officials, wrote that Ukraine began the main phase of its counteroffensive.

Earlier, military analyst Allan Orr accused NATO that the counter-offensive of the Armed Forces of Ukraine is developing unsuccessfully.

2023 Free Summer Activities and Programs for Kids Near Me

Check out these frugal & FREE Summer activities, programs & workshops for kids where you’ll find lots of ways to entertain your kids!

Summer is coming! A time when kids & families are looking for free Summer activities to do close to home — and most of us parents are hoping that it’s not all tech time 😉

There are a number of FREE programs & events near you that your kids can try this summer.  Inspire them to learn a new skill, earn badges or pins and have a great time with other kids!

Summer is the perfect time to try out something new — you never know what your kids will gravitate to unless you introduce them to new things!

My favorite part about these programs & workshops are that most of the activities are only a few hours a day. So they give kids an opportunity to explore something unique without investing a ton of time (or money).

First, check out our post on FREE Summer Reading Programs & Rewards!  There are so many ways to inspire your kids to do some reading in the coming months.

Then grab the FREE printable summer activities calendar of “100 No Cost Things to do this Summer” too!

A quick warning — some of the camps and workshops will fill up quickly!! Call ahead to reserve a spot if it’s possible — don’t tell your kids until you know they can get in 😉

Also, be sure to ask about the parent/child policy at each of the events & activities.  Some programs require a parent to stay onsite during the duration of the program.

And since you’ll probably be spending more time in the car to get to and from these fun activities, be sure to check out some of these fun summer-themed Mad Lib games along with our list of car organization items to keep chaos at bay this summer 🙂

1. Kids Bowl Free Summer Programs for Kids

One of the longer standing summer programs, kids receive 2 free games of bowling every day all summer long!  Search their website to find bowling alleys all over the United States & Canada that participate.   There are quite a few who are opening up bowling activities this summer after being closed last year.

This is a great option for those hot days when you’re looking for a good indoor activity — especially for a group of kids too.  The age requirement varies depending on your local bowling alley. The website gives you details on who can participate (kids as young as 2 years old up thru teenagers can bowl at most locations)!

2. Michael’s Summer Craft Workshops for Kids

We LOVE the summer craft sessions at Michael’s!  Camp Creatology Workshops for Kids begins in June at stores in both the U.S. and Canada.  This close-to-home camp offers fun themed craft sessions on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays during the summer months!

Past themes include: Forest Friends, Ocean Animals, Outer Space and Fantasy Fun.  The crafts offered are fun for kids ages 4 – 12 years old.  The sessions are also offered online too if you can’t make it in person. Check out our 30+ Free Online Summer Camps & Workshops to learn more.

3. Lowe’s Kids DIY Building Workshops

For building fun, make sure to check out the Free Lowe’s Kids Workshops usually held on the second weekend of each month at most Lowe’s stores.

We love these workshops!  Projects vary for each one but the best part is that kids get to complete a cool project all on their own using kid-sized tools.  And yes, swinging a hammer or using a screwdriver is usually part of the project 😉

Some stores are doing in-person workshops and others will have you pick up the project kit in the store and take it home to work on with your kids. In our experience, these programs are best for kids ages 3 – 10 years old (especially if your kiddos haven’t yet had the opportunity to use tools!) pssst … they also have awesome DIY workshops for adults too.

Register early for these – they are popular!

4. Apple Stores Free Summer Programs for Kids Near Me

Did you know that Apple Stores offer FREE youth workshops and Apple Camp for Kids?

Whether you own an iPhone or iPad, these sessions offer your kids the opportnity to learn about the programs and apps for their Apple devices.   Kids & teens can learn photography, make movies, create music and how to program devices.

If you own a Sphero Robot (affiliate link to what those are!) than you’ll love the Coding Workshops your kids can take!

Register for more details on the Apple Camp 2023 sessions for kids.  Also check the “Upcoming Sessions” on the Apple Today event calendar to find in-person workshops near you!

Always check with your local nature center as many offer some amazing workshops for kids throughout the summer months!  We’ve attended family hikes, animal visits, naturalist programs, archery clinics and more programs that cover outdoor skills.

Additional topics might include:  how to read trails signs, tips for hiking, identifying local wildlife, bird-watching, how to read a compass, and nighttime programs which are really cool since they usually involve owls, stars and flashlights!

Here’s how to find nature programs near you:

  • Use this list at Wikipedia to locate a local or state-supported nature center near you.
  • Check the local website for a calendar that lists summer workshops/events
  • Or give them a call and ask about any offerings they have for kids and families!

7. At-Home Maker Camp Activities for Kids

We love this option for STEM camps! Maker Camps are offered through a variety of organizations usually start mid-June.  Your kids can join in to build & create some really cool projects for six weeks over the summer.

Use the Maker Camp Map to find a location near you.  Most of the FREE camps are offered via libraries and schools.

If you’re not able to find a camp in your area, check out the Maker Camp Library for activities to do at home.  Kids, tweens & teens can start any of the past years’ activities & projects at home.  Directions and supplies needed are all listed online.

8. FREE Fishing Days Near You

Teach kids a new life sport – the folks at Take Me Fishing offer FREE fishing days in all US States!  All you’ll need is a kid-sized fishing pole and snacks (cause let me tell you, kids always seem to get hungry when they’re waiting on a fish 😉

Most days are in the month of June and kids won’t need a license.   Many local parks and sports stores near you will have events during these days too.  And check the details because some states will also waive license fees for adults on those days/weekends.

9. Free Museum Programs for All Ages

Believe it or not, many art museums offer FREE admission every day. And quite a few will have summer activities, scavenger hunts and other fun programs when you visit!

First, check the Museums for All website to locate any museums near you or close to where you may vacation this summer.  You’ll find special events, art projects for kids or daily activities that are offered.  And take a peek at our 5 Fun Things to do at a Museum before you go too!

May is always that time I start planning for warmer weather and (this summer especially) hunting down some fun & free summer activities near me for both kids and our family. If your family is planning to stick close to home this summer and you’re looking for some FUN ideas for activities and experiences, we’ve got you covered with this HUGE list of ideas for creative activities, vintage fun and local places to visit for the best summer ever!

Every year in early May, I start our ‘Summer Activities’ list — a collaborative collection of all the fun things we’d like to do during the next few months. We love looking for local fun around our city and enjoying some of those throw-back, vintage-type activities that are perfect for summer days and nights.

Our main goal when it comes to summer fun is to make memories!  We love to hear our kids recall some of the unique experiences they’ve enjoyed.  And we’ve quickly realized that many of these memories are made without spending a dime.

Sometimes we get all caught up in the BIG stuff that we forget how memorable the small items can be too.

For example, have your kids ever:

  • flown a kite?
  • Or gone on a creek walk?
  • Picked fresh fruit at a local farm or orchard?
  • Have you tried canoeing or kayaking?
  • Or camping in the backyard together?

I encourage you to start a list with your family (we call it a summer bucket list but label is whatever you’d like).   Have everyone add their favorite activities and places to visit, and then also talk about new experiences that you can enjoy together.  Be sure to check out all the Fun Summer Items for Kids & Families in our Amazon storefront get your yard & house ready for the season too!

In the summer you can run, jump and jump,
And it’s fun to play in the fresh air!

Presenter: Guys, let’s play and have fun! Let’s travel today! Want to?

Children answer.

Host: But first, let’s get to know each other. State your names.

Children call.

Host: I didn’t hear everyone. But it doesn’t matter! I will see you now. Those I name, put your hands up and shout “It’s me!”

The host calls the names, the children complete the task.

Host: So we met. Well, now let’s go on a trip. Tell me where you can relax in the summer?

Answer: on the sea, on the river, in the forest.

Presenter: And we will visit everywhere! Close your eyes and imagine that you are in a forest. Oh, how fresh and beautiful it is here! It becomes easier to breathe. Let’s raise our hands up and say “Hello forest!”.

The children are doing the task.

Presenter: What is a forest? Who lives in the forest? What plants can be found in the forest?

Children answer.

Presenter: Guys, a centipede lives in the forest! Do you think it is easy for her to move with so many legs? Let’s check. And for this we need to turn into centipedes!

Running centipede relay .

Participants are divided into several groups, lined up in a column. Then they bend over, stretch the right hand forward, and the left hand back between the legs, grabbing the palm in front of and behind the standing participants. The centipede is ready. Now she needs to run as quickly as possible, without falling apart, to a certain place and back.

Narrator: Now imagine that it rained and there was … What? That’s right, rainbow! Can you tell me how many colors the rainbow has? Name them.

Children: Red, orange, … .

Presenter: Now let’s test your dexterity and attentiveness!

The Colors of the Rainbow competition is being held.

The leader calls the color, the players find an object of this shade and touch it. At this time, the presenter counts to seven. The one who fails to complete the task is out.

Narrator: And after the rain there are lots of… what?

Children: Mushrooms!

The competition “Mushroom pickers” is being held.

Mushroom cones are scattered on the ground. Several applicants receive a basket. Their task is to collect mushrooms in a certain time. Whoever collects the most wins.

Presenter: We collected mushrooms, now we will walk in the forest (she walks in a circle, the children follow her). Let’s go, admire nature … Oh, what is it? Like the legs are stuck. Where did we find ourselves?

Children: In the swamp.

Leader: To go further, you need to bypass dangerous places.

The competition “Go through the swamp” is being held.

At various distances from each other, wooden circles – bumps are installed. The task of the participants is to jump from bump to bump to reach the opposite bank. Those who fail to complete the task are out.

Host: We did it! We did it! And went straight to the river! Guys, what are you doing on the river in the summer?

Children: Swimming, sunbathing.

Presenter: Do you know that the river has a keeper – mermaids? Those who swim far, who violate the laws of the river, they take to the bottom of the sea!

Mermaid game is being held.

A circle is outlined on the ground – a river. It turns out 2 wishing – mermaids, they pass in a circle. The rest go along the river bank along the drawn line. As soon as the leader says “Mermaids!”, the children gather in groups of four (three). Those who do not have time to do this, the mermaids take with them to the bottom – now they also become mermaids. The game continues until all the children have turned into mermaids.

Presenter: We walked, swam, let’s make a fire and fry potatoes!

A hot potato game is being played.

The guys form a circle. Then they quickly throw a ball to each other – potatoes. The presenter detects 20 seconds, after the time has passed, she blows the whistle. The one who at this moment has a “potato” is out (you can put in a circle). The game continues on.

Presenter: Now let’s see if you know animals.

Runs, jumps, flies game.

The presenter throws the ball to one of the participants and calls the word, for example, “Flies”. The participant names the animal that flies (falcon). If he cannot name, he is out.

Presenter: Now let’s go to the sea, to the beach! Let’s go diving. Or rather, so far only learn to swim with fins. Who wants to try?

Relay “In fins” is held.

Those who wish are divided into 2 groups. Participants take turns putting on flippers (you can also use a diving mask), run the required distance, and return to pass the baton to the next one.

Presenter: Guys, we haven’t been to the mountains yet! It’s so cool there: you can even go skiing if there is snow! But we will not do this – it is dangerous for health to ski on the ground. Yes, skis can be broken. We will get acquainted with a phenomenon that is often found in this place and can cause a collapse. Have you guessed what I mean?

Children: Echo.

Presenter: Correct. You will now turn into an echo, agreed?

Conducts the Echo game.

The presenter calls a word or phrase, the players repeat the last part: mountain – ra, read the book – yoke.

Presenter:

Let’s continue this game:

The game is over – ra-ra-ra.
It’s time for us to part – ra-ra-ra.
We tell you “Farewell” – bye-bye-bye.
Remember us, forget us – wai-wai-wai.

Presenter: Our short summer trip is over! Next time we will go on a sea cruise. But that is another story! Goodbye, guys!

Summer play programs for children / summer fun

Portal for educators and parents

Some go to summer camp to relax, some go to work. Many children are gathered in one place. If the leaders do not do their job well, and do not take every free minute they have, they will find a job for themselves. And it doesn’t have to be for adults. Therefore, the days in the camp should be rich, bright, cheerful and provocative.

Non-traditional Olympic Games

Match Tournament

Themed games are the best summer entertainment for children. They are lively, bring a lot of joy. Especially useful in the early days, when the children are still new to each other, have not learned the rules of life in the camp.

Here are collected exciting game programs for children for the summer, which will help them unite and will remain in the memory of all participants for a long time.

Non-traditional Olympic Games

This ball is fascinated to watch as athletes from different countries try to run faster, throw farther and jump higher than everyone else. Offer to test yourself and the participants of the children’s camp.

Any sports competition always captivates children, because they like to compete and measure strength and dexterity. The Olympic Games in the camp are a traditional event, but we propose to introduce elements of unusualness into these sports. Funny contests that give everyone the opportunity to express themselves – aren’t such entertainments for children in the summer the best way. But we suggest starting this event for children with the opening ceremony.

Olympic Games opening ceremony The motto of the Olympics is also well-known: “Faster, higher, stronger.” During the opening ceremony, participants from each country carry their flags.

Tell the children about the history of the Olympic Games, the significance of the opening ceremony, and invite each squad to create their own flags and slogans. Flags can be drawn on durable paper such as cardboard, the motto can be part of the design of the flag. After the flags are ready, the opening ceremony of the Olympics can begin, at which children should be invited to make a presentation of their team and explain the meaning of their flag.

After the end of the opening ceremony, you can proceed to the competitive part.

Unusual “Olympic” competitions for children in the summer (attributes, markings, places for fans).

  1. Disco Thrower. Distance throwing competition. You can use old CDs for the contest. Each participant has 3 attempts. The farthest throw is counted.
  2. Javelin throwers. Prepare a simple target (draw with chalk on a wall or paint on a cardboard box) and inflate some long, thin balloons. The task is to hit the target with a spear ball. You can also throw these balls at range.
  3. “5 rings”. You will need 5 rings painted in Olympic colors. You can cut them out of regular cardboard or disposable plates. Also prepare 5 wooden sticks that need to be driven into the ground. Children will have to throw rings from a distance of 4-5 steps. The most accurate participant wins.
  4. Weightlifters. Add weight to soft plastic balls or tennis balls by writing the numbers 5 to infinity on them. Then they must be placed in a large box. The task of the competition is to hold as many balls as possible in your hands, choosing those with the highest “value”. The winner is the weightlifter who manages to hold the “greatest weight”.
  5. B ox”. The boxing ring is marked and the presenter invites the boxers to the fight. Sets them up for a serious boxing match, offers to wear gloves (you can take work gloves). When the opponents are ready and waiting for the team to start the fight, the leader suddenly declares that the word “box” is translated from English as “box” and changes the task for the players: they must throw boxes of different sizes at a distance. The strongest is the one whose “box” will fly the farthest.
  6. Sweeper. Marking is done as in curling (a long rectangular area, two target houses). Curling brushes are mops, stones are small toy cars. The rules of the game should be simplified: an accurate throw (arrival and stop of the car in the target house) gives a point.
  7. Jumping . Prepare an obstacle course and give the contestant a stick to be his horse. Having saddled it, he will have to overcome the obstacle course. Obstacles should not be too high, make them accessible to overcome “on horseback”. The victory will go to the most dexterous and fastest rider.

Newspaper tournament

cost material. Use it when organizing summer activities for children. We have collected here some competitions using newsprint. Surely, you can supplement them with your games and relay races.

Competitions for the newspaper tournament

  1. “Presentation”. On the pages of newspaper sheets, find suitable letters and words for self-presentation. Cut them out and glue them on the album sheet so that you get a small coherent story. The time to complete the task is 15 minutes.
  2. Snowball. On command, crumple up a sheet of newspaper to obtain a ball, holding it in an outstretched hand. The winner is the one who completes the task faster.
  3. “Hundred meters”. Make shoes out of newspaper, wrapping them around the feet and tying them with laces. “Shoeed” run “hundred meters”. The fastest runner is revealed.
  4. “Music break”. Teams are invited to create an ensemble and, using newspaper sheets as musical instruments, play the “Song of Summer” (“That’s what our summer is like . ..”). You can pat, tear newspapers or rustle them.
  5. “Gazetobol”. Balls crumpled from newspapers will be used for throwing. Instead of a basket, you can use a cardboard box. Throws can be very different: with the right and left hand, from behind the head, from under the foot, turning your back, etc.
  6. Origami. Faster than rivals to fold an airplane, a boat, a cap from a newspaper sheet.
  7. “Jet aircraft”. Purpose: to launch your paper plane further than your rivals. Use the airplanes folded in the previous contest.
  8. Water Carrier. Carry water in newspaper bags, trying to fill your glass faster than your rivals.
  9. Fanball. Make a fan out of newspaper sheets for each participant. With their help, you need to throw a balloon on the enemy field. Task: prevent the ball from falling on your site.
  10. “Useful reading”. Each team should be given the same copy of the newspaper. The host announces a word or phrase that is somewhere on the pages of these newspapers. The team that finds the given word faster will be the winner.
  11. Accountants. In a certain paragraph, count the number of punctuation marks and letters. Whoever gets the number right the fastest is the winner.
  12. Experts. Purpose: to find out who knows the names of newspapers more. You can call in order. The team that, in turn, could not remember anything else, loses. You can write the names on a piece of paper, then the leader simply counts the number of names.
  13. “Crossing”. Reach the finish line using two newspapers. You should shift newspapers, stepping from one to another.
  14. “Islands”. The spread newspaper should fit as many team members as possible. If the teams are small in composition, then the newspapers should be folded.
  15. Fashion designers. Create a dress or costume from a few sheets of newspaper and tape and hold a fashion show.
  16. Sculptors. Tear a sheet of newspaper to give it a finished shape, eg stars, flowers, snowflakes. The “sculptor” who created the most beautiful and original figure wins.
  17. Tyr. Forming newspaper balls, knock down a plastic bottle.
  18. Surprise. Any object is wrapped in a large number of layers of newsprint. The winner is the team that gets the gift the fastest.
  19. “No matter how long the rope winds…” Twist a “rope” of maximum length from newspapers. The time to complete the task is 2 minutes. Which team has the longest rope wins.
  20. Waste paper collectors – final competition. After the previous competitions, for sure, there will be a lot of paper lying around. With this final team challenge, you can kill two birds with one stone: hold a final contest and clean up the mess by cleaning up the area. Give each team one trash bag and ask them to collect all the trash that is nearby. The team with the heaviest bag at the end of the competition wins.

Match Tournament

This play program for kids consists of fun relay races and easy speed challenges. Children of any age and in any quantity can participate. Both individual and team championships are possible.

For the tournament you will need matchboxes with matches.

The player or team that completed the task first is awarded 3 points, the second – 2, and the third – 1. The winner of the competition is the player or team with the most points according to the results of all competitions.

You can keep score using potatoes, sticking matches into them according to the number of points scored in the competition. At the end of the game program, it remains only to count the number of matches in the potatoes of each team.

Rules of the Match Tournament

  • movement started.
  • The participant must stop, if the box falls during the movement, pick it up and put it back in its original place, only after that he can continue on his way.
  • Participants should be given a certain amount of time for tasks to build from matches. But you can lay out phrases according to the principle of who is faster.

Tasks for a match tournament

  1. Put the phrase “Matches are not a toy for children!” out of matches.
  2. Put a matchbox on the top of your head and walk along a given route.
  3. Put a matchbox on your shoulders and walk with such “shoulder straps” along a given route.
  4. Walk along the given route, placing the box with the narrow side on the hand clenched into a fist.
  5. For each of the teams, 5 boxes of matches are scattered in different places. Task: collect them faster than rivals.
  6. Build the highest “well” of matches in two minutes.
  7. Walk along a given route, placing the boxes in the lumbar region.
