• K & C Pre-K School hours during the school year are from 7:30 am – 2:20 pm. Students must be in the building by 7:20 am or they will be considered tardy.

  The administrative office is open each day from 7:00 am until 3:30 pm. It is here that contact between home and school is made. All record-keeping and other school business takes place here.

  Students may not be checked out of school after 1:40 pm.

Rostov-on-Don. May 4th. Interfax-South – Minors, according to preliminary data, were not injured in a collision between a minibus and a car on the Simferopol-Yalta highway near the village of Krasnokamenka, the press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs for Crimea reports in its telegram channel.

According to preliminary information from the police, on Thursday, on the Yuzhnoberezhnoye Highway near the village of Krasnokamenka, the driver of a Hyundai car did not give priority to a Ford minibus when turning, as a result of which they collided.

“As a result of an accident, three adults who were in a Hyundai car were injured, they were taken to a medical facility for medical assistance. There were a driver and seven children in the minibus, they are being examined by doctors, preliminary, none of the children were injured,” the message says. .

Traffic police officers continue to work at the scene of the accident, the circumstances and causes of the accident are being established.

The press service of the Crimean prosecutor’s office, which previously reported that the bus involved in the accident was a school bus, has already established that it belongs to an individual.

“The circumstances of the transportation of children are being investigated,” the department added.

Earlier, referring to the emergency services of the region, it was reported that seven children and two adults were injured in an accident with a bus on the Alushta-Yalta highway in Crimea. The incident happened around 16:00.

The press service of the prosecutor’s office in the Sverdlovsk region reported that in the village of Byzovo, as a result of a fire in a private house, according to preliminary data, 5 children died. Three more adults and two children were hospitalized.

Survivors suffered first and second degree burns and carbon monoxide poisoning. At the same time, only 4 corpses of children have been found so far, the search for the fifth continues. Those killed in the fire were born in 2013, 2014, 2016, 2019 and 2020.

A large family lived in the burnt house. According to an informed source, they gave birth to alcohol abuse. They were not on the preventive register, but were registered with the social service. However, when the fire started, the father was able to carry two children out of the fire.

The area of ​​the fire was 100 square meters. The fire began to be extinguished on April 14 at 2:20, and open burning was eliminated at 3:01.

Summer is coming! A time when kids & families are looking for free Summer activities to do close to home — and most of us parents are hoping that it’s not all tech time 😉

There are a number of FREE programs & events near you that your kids can try this summer.  Inspire them to learn a new skill, earn badges or pins and have a great time with other kids!

Summer is the perfect time to try out something new — you never know what your kids will gravitate to unless you introduce them to new things!

My favorite part about these programs & workshops are that most of the activities are only a few hours a day. So they give kids an opportunity to explore something unique without investing a ton of time (or money).

First, check out our post on FREE Summer Reading Programs & Rewards!  There are so many ways to inspire your kids to do some reading in the coming months.

A quick warning — some of the camps and workshops will fill up quickly!! Call ahead to reserve a spot if it’s possible — don’t tell your kids until you know they can get in 😉

Also, be sure to ask about the parent/child policy at each of the events & activities.  Some programs require a parent to stay onsite during the duration of the program.

1. Kids Bowl Free Summer Programs for Kids

One of the longer standing summer programs, kids receive 2 free games of bowling every day all summer long!  Search their website to find bowling alleys all over the United States & Canada that participate.   There are quite a few who are opening up bowling activities this summer after being closed last year.

This is a great option for those hot days when you’re looking for a good indoor activity — especially for a group of kids too.  The age requirement varies depending on your local bowling alley. The website gives you details on who can participate (kids as young as 2 years old up thru teenagers can bowl at most locations)!

2. Michael’s Summer Craft Workshops for Kids

We LOVE the summer craft sessions at Michael’s!  Camp Creatology Workshops for Kids begins in June at stores in both the U.S. and Canada.  This close-to-home camp offers fun themed craft sessions on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays during the summer months!

Past themes include: Forest Friends, Ocean Animals, Outer Space and Fantasy Fun.  The crafts offered are fun for kids ages 4 – 12 years old.  The sessions are also offered online too if you can’t make it in person. Check out our 30+ Free Online Summer Camps & Workshops to learn more.

3. Lowe’s Kids DIY Building Workshops

For building fun, make sure to check out the Free Lowe’s Kids Workshops usually held on the second weekend of each month at most Lowe’s stores.

We love these workshops!  Projects vary for each one but the best part is that kids get to complete a cool project all on their own using kid-sized tools.  And yes, swinging a hammer or using a screwdriver is usually part of the project 😉

Some stores are doing in-person workshops and others will have you pick up the project kit in the store and take it home to work on with your kids. In our experience, these programs are best for kids ages 3 – 10 years old (especially if your kiddos haven’t yet had the opportunity to use tools!) pssst … they also have awesome DIY workshops for adults too.

Register early for these – they are popular!

4. Apple Stores Free Summer Programs for Kids Near Me

Did you know that Apple Stores offer FREE youth workshops and Apple Camp for Kids?

Whether you own an iPhone or iPad, these sessions offer your kids the opportnity to learn about the programs and apps for their Apple devices.   Kids & teens can learn photography, make movies, create music and how to program devices.

If you own a Sphero Robot (affiliate link to what those are!) than you’ll love the Coding Workshops your kids can take!

Junior Ranger Programs for Kids at National Parks (& at Home!)

We are huge fans of the Junior Ranger program at the National Parks.  Be sure to read ‘Why We Love the Junior Ranger Programs‘ for details!

Almost all of the national parks and many of the national historic sites host these FREE programs for kids, tweens & teens.  To earn a Junior Ranger badge or certificate:

• Kids will pick up or download an activity book for each park or site
• Visit the park or historic site and complete the activities in the booklet,
• Once you complete the activities for their age, turn the booklet in at a ranger station & kids will earn their  Junior Ranger status along with a certificate, pin or patch (varies by park).

6.  Free Kids Nature Camps & Activities Near Me

Always check with your local nature center as many offer some amazing workshops for kids throughout the summer months!  We’ve attended family hikes, animal visits, naturalist programs, archery clinics and more programs that cover outdoor skills.

Additional topics might include:  how to read trails signs, tips for hiking, identifying local wildlife, bird-watching, how to read a compass, and nighttime programs which are really cool since they usually involve owls, stars and flashlights!

Here’s how to find nature programs near you:

• Use this list at Wikipedia to locate a local or state-supported nature center near you.
• Check the local website for a calendar that lists summer workshops/events
• Or give them a call and ask about any offerings they have for kids and families!

7. At-Home Maker Camp Activities for Kids

We love this option for STEM camps! Maker Camps are offered through a variety of organizations usually start mid-June.  Your kids can join in to build & create some really cool projects for six weeks over the summer.

Use the Maker Camp Map to find a location near you.  Most of the FREE camps are offered via libraries and schools.

If you’re not able to find a camp in your area, check out the Maker Camp Library for activities to do at home.  Kids, tweens & teens can start any of the past years’ activities & projects at home.  Directions and supplies needed are all listed online.

8. FREE Fishing Days Near You

Teach kids a new life sport – the folks at Take Me Fishing offer FREE fishing days in all US States!  All you’ll need is a kid-sized fishing pole and snacks (cause let me tell you, kids always seem to get hungry when they’re waiting on a fish 😉

Most days are in the month of June and kids won’t need a license.   Many local parks and sports stores near you will have events during these days too.  And check the details because some states will also waive license fees for adults on those days/weekends.

9. Free Museum Programs for All Ages

Believe it or not, many art museums offer FREE admission every day. And quite a few will have summer activities, scavenger hunts and other fun programs when you visit!

Every year in early May, I start our ‘Summer Activities’ list — a collaborative collection of all the fun things we’d like to do during the next few months. We love looking for local fun around our city and enjoying some of those throw-back, vintage-type activities that are perfect for summer days and nights.

Our main goal when it comes to summer fun is to make memories!  We love to hear our kids recall some of the unique experiences they’ve enjoyed.  And we’ve quickly realized that many of these memories are made without spending a dime.

Sometimes we get all caught up in the BIG stuff that we forget how memorable the small items can be too.

For example, have your kids ever:

Themed games are the best summer entertainment for children. They are lively, bring a lot of joy. Especially useful in the early days, when the children are still new to each other, have not learned the rules of life in the camp.

Here are collected exciting game programs for children for the summer, which will help them unite and will remain in the memory of all participants for a long time.

Non-traditional Olympic Games

This ball is fascinated to watch as athletes from different countries try to run faster, throw farther and jump higher than everyone else. Offer to test yourself and the participants of the children’s camp.

Any sports competition always captivates children, because they like to compete and measure strength and dexterity. The Olympic Games in the camp are a traditional event, but we propose to introduce elements of unusualness into these sports. Funny contests that give everyone the opportunity to express themselves – aren’t such entertainments for children in the summer the best way. But we suggest starting this event for children with the opening ceremony.

Olympic Games opening ceremony The motto of the Olympics is also well-known: “Faster, higher, stronger.” During the opening ceremony, participants from each country carry their flags.

Tell the children about the history of the Olympic Games, the significance of the opening ceremony, and invite each squad to create their own flags and slogans. Unusual “Olympic” competitions for children in the summer (attributes, markings, places for fans).

1. Disco Thrower. Distance throwing competition. You can use old CDs for the contest. Each participant has 3 attempts. The farthest throw is counted.
2. Javelin throwers. Prepare a simple target (draw with chalk on a wall or paint on a cardboard box) and inflate some long, thin balloons. The task is to hit the target with a spear ball. You can also throw these balls at range.
3. “5 rings”. You will need 5 rings painted in Olympic colors. You can cut them out of regular cardboard or disposable plates. Also prepare 5 wooden sticks that need to be driven into the ground. Children will have to throw rings from a distance of 4-5 steps. The most accurate participant wins.
4. Weightlifters. Add weight to soft plastic balls or tennis balls by writing the numbers 5 to infinity on them. Then they must be placed in a large box. The task of the competition is to hold as many balls as possible in your hands, choosing those with the highest “value”. The winner is the weightlifter who manages to hold the “greatest weight”.
5. ” B ox”. The boxing ring is marked and the presenter invites the boxers to the fight. Sets them up for a serious boxing match, offers to wear gloves (you can take work gloves). Competitions for the newspaper tournament

1. “Presentation”. On the pages of newspaper sheets, find suitable letters and words for self-presentation. Cut them out and glue them on the album sheet so that you get a small coherent story. The time to complete the task is 15 minutes.
2. Snowball. On command, crumple up a sheet of newspaper to obtain a ball, holding it in an outstretched hand. The winner is the one who completes the task faster.
3. “Hundred meters”. Make shoes out of newspaper, wrapping them around the feet and tying them with laces. “Shoeed” run “hundred meters”. The fastest runner is revealed.
4. “Music break”. Teams are invited to create an ensemble and, using newspaper sheets as musical instruments, play the “Song of Summer” (“That’s what our summer is like . ..”). You can pat, tear newspapers or rustle them.
5. “Gazetobol”. Balls crumpled from newspapers will be used for throwing. Instead of a basket, you can use a cardboard box. Throws can be very different: with the right and left hand, from behind the head, from under the foot, turning your back, etc.
6. Origami. Faster than rivals to fold an airplane, a boat, a cap from a newspaper sheet.
7. “Jet aircraft”. Purpose: to launch your paper plane further than your rivals. Use the airplanes folded in the previous contest.
8. Water Carrier. Carry water in newspaper bags, trying to fill your glass faster than your rivals.
9. Fanball. Make a fan out of newspaper sheets for each participant. With their help, you need to throw a balloon on the enemy field. Task: prevent the ball from falling on your site.
10. “Useful reading”. Each team should be given the same copy of the newspaper. The host announces a word or phrase that is somewhere on the pages of these newspapers. The team that finds the given word faster will be the winner.
11. Accountants. In a certain paragraph, count the number of punctuation marks and letters. Whoever gets the number right the fastest is the winner.
12. Experts. Purpose: to find out who knows the names of newspapers more. You can call in order. The team that, in turn, could not remember anything else, loses. You can write the names on a piece of paper, then the leader simply counts the number of names.
13. “Crossing”. Reach the finish line using two newspapers. You should shift newspapers, stepping from one to another.
14. “Islands”. The spread newspaper should fit as many team members as possible. If the teams are small in composition, then the newspapers should be folded.
15. Fashion designers. Create a dress or costume from a few sheets of newspaper and tape and hold a fashion show.
16. Sculptors. Tear a sheet of newspaper to give it a finished shape, eg stars, flowers, snowflakes. The “sculptor” who created the most beautiful and original figure wins.
17. Tyr. Forming newspaper balls, knock down a plastic bottle.
18. Surprise. Any object is wrapped in a large number of layers of newsprint. The winner is the team that gets the gift the fastest.
19. “No matter how long the rope winds…” Twist a “rope” of maximum length from newspapers. The time to complete the task is 2 minutes. Which team has the longest rope wins.
20. Waste paper collectors – final competition. After the previous competitions, for sure, there will be a lot of paper lying around. With this final team challenge, you can kill two birds with one stone: hold a final contest and clean up the mess by cleaning up the area. Give each team one trash bag and ask them to collect all the trash that is nearby. The team with the heaviest bag at the end of the competition wins.

Match Tournament

This play program for kids consists of fun relay races and easy speed challenges. Children of any age and in any quantity can participate. Both individual and team championships are possible.

For the tournament you will need matchboxes with matches.

The player or team that completed the task first is awarded 3 points, the second – 2, and the third – 1. The winner of the competition is the player or team with the most points according to the results of all competitions.

You can keep score using potatoes, sticking matches into them according to the number of points scored in the competition. At the end of the game program, it remains only to count the number of matches in the potatoes of each team.

Rules of the Match Tournament

6. Build the highest “well” of matches in two minutes.

There are a number of FREE programs & events near you that your kids can try this summer.  Inspire them to learn a new skill, earn badges or pins and have a great time with other kids!

Summer is the perfect time to try out something new — you never know what your kids will gravitate to unless you introduce them to new things!

My favorite part about these programs & workshops are that most of the activities are only a few hours a day. So they give kids an opportunity to explore something unique without investing a ton of time (or money).

One of the longer standing summer programs, kids receive 2 free games of bowling every day all summer long!  Search their website to find bowling alleys all over the United States & Canada that participate.   There are quite a few who are opening up bowling activities this summer after being closed last year.

This is a great option for those hot days when you’re looking for a good indoor activity — especially for a group of kids too.  The age requirement varies depending on your local bowling alley. The website gives you details on who can participate (kids as young as 2 years old up thru teenagers can bowl at most locations)!

2. Michael’s Summer Craft Workshops for Kids

We LOVE the summer craft sessions at Michael’s!  Camp Creatology Workshops for Kids begins in June at stores in both the U.S. and Canada.  This close-to-home camp offers fun themed craft sessions on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays during the summer months!

Past themes include: Forest Friends, Ocean Animals, Outer Space and Fantasy Fun.  The crafts offered are fun for kids ages 4 – 12 years old.  The sessions are also offered online too if you can’t make it in person. Check out our 30+ Free Online Summer Camps & Workshops to learn more.

3. Lowe’s Kids DIY Building Workshops

For building fun, make sure to check out the Free Lowe’s Kids Workshops usually held on the second weekend of each month at most Lowe’s stores.

We love these workshops!  Projects vary for each one but the best part is that kids get to complete a cool project all on their own using kid-sized tools.  And yes, swinging a hammer or using a screwdriver is usually part of the project 😉

Some stores are doing in-person workshops and others will have you pick up the project kit in the store and take it home to work on with your kids. In our experience, these programs are best for kids ages 3 – 10 years old (especially if your kiddos haven’t yet had the opportunity to use tools!) pssst … they also have awesome DIY workshops for adults too.

4. Apple Stores Free Summer Programs for Kids Near Me

Did you know that Apple Stores offer FREE youth workshops and Apple Camp for Kids?

Whether you own an iPhone or iPad, these sessions offer your kids the opportnity to learn about the programs and apps for their Apple devices.   Kids & teens can learn photography, make movies, create music and how to program devices.

Almost all of the national parks and many of the national historic sites host these FREE programs for kids, tweens & teens.  To earn a Junior Ranger badge or certificate:

• Kids will pick up or download an activity book for each park or site

Always check with your local nature center as many offer some amazing workshops for kids throughout the summer months!  We’ve attended family hikes, animal visits, naturalist programs, archery clinics and more programs that cover outdoor skills.

Additional topics might include:  how to read trails signs, tips for hiking, identifying local wildlife, bird-watching, how to read a compass, and nighttime programs which are really cool since they usually involve owls, stars and flashlights!

Here’s how to find nature programs near you:

• Check the local website for a calendar that lists summer workshops/events
• Or give them a call and ask about any offerings they have for kids and families!

7. At-Home Maker Camp Activities for Kids

We love this option for STEM camps! Maker Camps are offered through a variety of organizations usually start mid-June.  Your kids can join in to build & create some really cool projects for six weeks over the summer.

Use the Maker Camp Map to find a location near you.  Most of the FREE camps are offered via libraries and schools.

If you’re not able to find a camp in your area, check out the Maker Camp Library for activities to do at home.  Kids, tweens & teens can start any of the past years’ activities & projects at home.  Directions and supplies needed are all listed online.

8. FREE Fishing Days Near You

Teach kids a new life sport – the folks at Take Me Fishing offer FREE fishing days in all US States!  All you’ll need is a kid-sized fishing pole and snacks (cause let me tell you, kids always seem to get hungry when they’re waiting on a fish 😉

Most days are in the month of June and kids won’t need a license.   Many local parks and sports stores near you will have events during these days too.  And check the details because some states will also waive license fees for adults on those days/weekends.

9. Free Museum Programs for All Ages

Believe it or not, many art museums offer FREE admission every day. And quite a few will have summer activities, scavenger hunts and other fun programs when you visit!

Every year in early May, I start our ‘Summer Activities’ list — a collaborative collection of all the fun things we’d like to do during the next few months. We love looking for local fun around our city and enjoying some of those throw-back, vintage-type activities that are perfect for summer days and nights.

Our main goal when it comes to summer fun is to make memories!  We love to hear our kids recall some of the unique experiences they’ve enjoyed.  And we’ve quickly realized that many of these memories are made without spending a dime.

Sometimes we get all caught up in the BIG stuff that we forget how memorable the small items can be too.

This ball is fascinated to watch as athletes from different countries try to run faster, throw farther and jump higher than everyone else. Offer to test yourself and the participants of the children’s camp.

Any sports competition always captivates children, because they like to compete and measure strength and dexterity. The Olympic Games in the camp are a traditional event, but we propose to introduce elements of unusualness into these sports. Funny contests that give everyone the opportunity to express themselves – aren’t such entertainments for children in the summer the best way. But we suggest starting this event for children with the opening ceremony.

Olympic Games opening ceremony The motto of the Olympics is also well-known: “Faster, higher, stronger.” During the opening ceremony, participants from each country carry their flags.

Tell the children about the history of the Olympic Games, the significance of the opening ceremony, and invite each squad to create their own flags and slogans. Flags can be drawn on durable paper such as cardboard, the motto can be part of the design of the flag. 3. “Hundred meters”. Make shoes out of newspaper, wrapping them around the feet and tying them with laces. “Shoeed” run “hundred meters”. The fastest runner is revealed.
4. “Music break”. Teams are invited to create an ensemble and, using newspaper sheets as musical instruments, play the “Song of Summer” (“That’s what our summer is like . ..”). You can pat, tear newspapers or rustle them.
5. “Gazetobol”. Balls crumpled from newspapers will be used for throwing. Instead of a basket, you can use a cardboard box. Throws can be very different: with the right and left hand, from behind the head, from under the foot, turning your back, etc.
6. Origami. Faster than rivals to fold an airplane, a boat, a cap from a newspaper sheet.
7. “Jet aircraft”. Purpose: to launch your paper plane further than your rivals. Use the airplanes folded in the previous contest.
8. Water Carrier. Carry water in newspaper bags, trying to fill your glass faster than your rivals.
9. Fanball. Make a fan out of newspaper sheets for each participant. With their help, you need to throw a balloon on the enemy field. Task: prevent the ball from falling on your site.
10. “Useful reading”. Each team should be given the same copy of the newspaper. The host announces a word or phrase that is somewhere on the pages of these newspapers. The team that finds the given word faster will be the winner.
11. Accountants. In a certain paragraph, count the number of punctuation marks and letters. Whoever gets the number right the fastest is the winner.
12. Experts. Purpose: to find out who knows the names of newspapers more. You can call in order. The team that, in turn, could not remember anything else, loses. You can write the names on a piece of paper, then the leader simply counts the number of names.
13. “Crossing”. Reach the finish line using two newspapers. You should shift newspapers, stepping from one to another.
14. “Islands”. The spread newspaper should fit as many team members as possible. If the teams are small in composition, then the newspapers should be folded.
15. Fashion designers. Create a dress or costume from a few sheets of newspaper and tape and hold a fashion show.
16. Sculptors. Tear a sheet of newspaper to give it a finished shape, eg stars, flowers, snowflakes. The “sculptor” who created the most beautiful and original figure wins.
17. Tyr. Forming newspaper balls, knock down a plastic bottle.
18. Surprise. Any object is wrapped in a large number of layers of newsprint. The winner is the team that gets the gift the fastest.
19. “No matter how long the rope winds…” Twist a “rope” of maximum length from newspapers. The time to complete the task is 2 minutes. Which team has the longest rope wins.
20. Waste paper collectors – final competition. After the previous competitions, for sure, there will be a lot of paper lying around. With this final team challenge, you can kill two birds with one stone: hold a final contest and clean up the mess by cleaning up the area. Give each team one trash bag and ask them to collect all the trash that is nearby. The team with the heaviest bag at the end of the competition wins.

Match Tournament

This play program for kids consists of fun relay races and easy speed challenges. Children of any age and in any quantity can participate. Both individual and team championships are possible.

For the tournament you will need matchboxes with matches.

The player or team that completed the task first is awarded 3 points, the second – 2, and the third – 1. The winner of the competition is the player or team with the most points according to the results of all competitions.

You can keep score using potatoes, sticking matches into them according to the number of points scored in the competition. At the end of the game program, it remains only to count the number of matches in the potatoes of each team.

Rules of the Match Tournament

• The participant must stop, if the box falls during the movement, pick it up and put it back in its original place, only after that he can continue on his way.
• Participants should be given a certain amount of time for tasks to build from matches. But you can lay out phrases according to the principle of who is faster.

Tasks for a match tournament

1. Put the phrase “Matches are not a toy for children!” out of matches.
2. Put a matchbox on the top of your head and walk along a given route.
3. Put a matchbox on your shoulders and walk with such “shoulder straps” along a given route.
4. Walk along the given route, placing the box with the narrow side on the hand clenched into a fist.
5. For each of the teams, 5 boxes of matches are scattered in different places. Task: collect them faster than rivals.
6. Build the highest “well” of matches in two minutes.
7. Walk along a given route, placing the boxes in the lumbar region.

The organization and holding of health-improving holidays for children brought up in the families of students, graduate students, faculty and staff is a long-term tradition of the Moscow State University named after M.V. Lomonosov. In 2007, the residential buildings were reconstructed. The territory of the boarding house is 3.2 hectares, landscaping is 50% of the territory. The boarding house is surrounded by 700 hectares of forest, which is also the territory of Moscow State University. The boarding house is located in the suburbs of Moscow, in the vicinity of Zvenigorod, in a picturesque resort area, commonly known as “Russian Switzerland”.

This cozy corner of the Moscow region is famous for its extraordinary landscapes. Quiet beauty of coniferous forest, chirping of birds, rustle of herbs will help you to forget about the bustle of the city and fully relax or work fruitfully in a calm environment.

On the territory of the boarding house “Universitetsky” there are two sleeping four-story buildings for 200 people. For accommodation there are single and double rooms with all amenities: modern furniture, satellite TV, Internet (Wi-Fi), refrigerator, shower, bathroom. On the floors there are spacious, lighted halls with soft sofas and armchairs. All buildings of the boarding house are interconnected by covered walkways. There is a free guarded car park.

The activity of the boarding house for many years has been aimed at holding conferences, thematic seminars, trainings, business meetings, negotiations, presentations, training of personnel for the faculties of Moscow State University.

Every year, during the winter and summer school holidays, the Universitetsky boarding house organizes the Star University children’s health camp (about 800 children a year in 4 shifts). Conducted scientific and educational programs for schoolchildren: “Lift to the future”; “UMA Foundation for Support of Young Scientists”; “NOTE”; “NGO Foundation EMSH”.

Annual student sports days, field seminars and conferences for students of the faculties of Moscow State University are also held here: Russian Academy of Justice; OKB “Gidropress” Rosatom; initiation into students.

We offer various sports entertainment games and programs for corporate clients.

Talented and experienced organizers of children’s leisure offer programs of different ages, including the creative and health development of your child.

• Novorizhskoye Highway: turn right at 48 km to Zvenigorod. In Zvenigorod, cross the Moskva River on the bridge, turn right at the first crossroads and then drive through Shikhovo, Lutsino and Gigirevo.
• Rublevo-Uspenskoe highway: turn right for 20 km to Nikolina Gora, then follow the signs to Zvenigorod. Further to vil.

Childrens Hospital Fund

The Kids West is only one of the many children’s charities in Australia. Its mission is to raise money for the childrens hospital fund, delivering much-needed equipment to the hospitals of western Sydney. Over the course of 30+ years, Kids West has raised in excess of $5.6m and is one of the best Australian charities to support dedicated countless hours to assisting a large number of organisations in improving the health and wellbeing of children throughout Western Sydney.

Below are some of the other fantastic childrens charities Australia has in place. As with any children’s charity, it’s best to do your research. Unfortunately, there are organisations out there that take advantage of well-meaning souls and misappropriate funds. Some organisations, as charitable as their intentions may be, cost a lot to run so your donations may not actually get to where you’re intending them to go.

What to Consider When Making a Childrens Hospital Donation 

Research the charity thoroughly BEFORE getting out your chequebook. The Australian Charities and Not For Profit Commission (ACNC) is the national regulator of charities. They oversee over 58,000 registered charities in Australia. We highly recommend checking out their charity register to see if the group you’re looking to support is approved to fundraise. Check to see what the goals of the charity are

Make sure they’re transparent – they should be able to show you where the money goes. Reviewing their annual report should help you. It should be on their website.

Kids West assisted a mother of 3 young children who’s husband left suddenly taking everything, by donating goods, helping with bills, food and Christmas presents. Later we received a letter: “Dear Kids West, We’re back on our feet and doing well, please find enclosed a cheque for $200 to help another family this Christmas”

Our son may not be with us today if it wasn’t for Kids West. We know by the plaque on the Humidi Crib we saw every day for the 2 months our son was in intensive care; it was donated by Kids West. That equipment kept our son, born at 28 weeks suffering from lung failure amongst other things, alive.

Coolah

Kids West were approached about a small remote town called Coolah, trying to raise funds for a Defibrillator that could be used on young children. The Hospital had managed to raise $5,000 towards the $10,000 machine. Kids West donated the remaining $5,000. 3 years later the Defibrillator was used to save a 6 year olds life on a remote farm.

How do I Donate?

There are a myriad of ways in which you can help add to the Kids West cause. You can donate beyond money, your time and effort, your influence and so much more.

Where does my Donation Go?

Kids West have launched a new tool that allows us to report instantly on where every donation dollar is being spent.

We believe in two very important elements in Charity Work:
(1) Transparency of Funds – we want to show you where every single dollar will be invested
(2) No Admin Charges – we have a phenomenal team of volunteers, and a generous support program to ensure that our administrative costs are always covered and that 100% of the dollars donated to us goes into the community.

Are Donations Tax Deductible?

Donations of $2 or more to the Kids West, Western Sydney Paediatric Fund Raising Inc. (Kids West) are tax-deductible. The Australian Tax Office recognises these donations as having Deductible Gift Recipient (DGR) status. The amount you can claim as a deduction on your tax return depends on your circumstances. Kids West cannot calculate the tax deduction you may be entitled to for your donation.

Similar to when an individual donates, the contribution must be $2 or more in value for a corporate donation to be eligible. The charity must also be registered as a “Deductible Gift Recipient organisation” with the ATO.

Tax time is an excellent opportunity for your company to practice corporate social responsibility while increasing the business’ tax return.

Every donation you make to charity is only tax deductible if the organisation is an ATO-endorsed deductible gift recipient (DGR). Australian Cancer Research Foundation (ACRF) is a DGR organisation with a registered charity tick from the Australian Charities and Not-for-profits Commission (ACNC). This means that ACRF complies with the transparency and accountability standards of the ACNC Charity Register.

To claim a tax deduction for a gift or donation, it must also meet the following conditions:

– It must be made to a DGR organisation.
– It must indeed be a gift or donation – that is, you voluntarily transfer money or property without receiving or expecting to receive any material benefit or advantage in return. A material benefit is an item with a monetary value, such as a raffle ticket, fundraising chocolate or fundraising dinner ticket.
– The gift or donation must be of money or property. This can include financial assets such as shares.
– The gift or donation must comply with any relevant gift conditions. For some DGRs, the income tax law adds different conditions affecting the types of deductible contributions they can receive.

You must have a donation record, such as a receipt, to claim a tax deduction. ACRF provides prompt receipting for all donations. For complete information on charity donation tax deductions, please visit the ATO website – Gifts and Donations or speak with your financial adviser or accountant.

Are overseas charity donations Tax Deductible?

All Australian charities that operate overseas must be registered with the Australian Charities and Not-for-Profit Commission (ACNC) which have set standards that govern how a registered charity must manage its activities and resources outside Australia. In addition to the ATOs, Overseas Aid Gift Deduction Scheme (OAGDS) enables Australian organisations to issue tax-deductible receipts for donations to their overseas aid activities. These activities must be to support aid activities in countries that are declared as ‘developing’ by the Minister for Foreign Affairs.

Donations to overseas charities not registered in Australia are not tax-deductible.

Are donations to charity auctions Tax Deductible?

Donations to charity auctions are tax-deductible if:

• There is a transfer of money or property and the organisation is a DGR.
• The transfer is made voluntarily.
• The donor does not expect anything in return for the gift.
• The donor does not materially benefit from the gift.

4. Dymocks Children’s Charities

They run four programs that provide brand new books to children in priority locations in Australia. Supporting children who have little or no access to good books; the programs restock priority primary school libraries, community centres, hospitals, classrooms and provide books for children to take home and cherish. We believe all children should have the tools they need to thrive, regardless of their circumstances.

6. Starlight Foundation

The Starlight Foundation help make the lives of children, and their families, better at a time when most of us would be inconsolable. They look to give amazing, life-altering experiences to seriously sick kids. They need help in providing experiences, raising funds for amazing events, growing awareness and getting boots on the ground to make things HAPPEN. Team work makes the dream work!

7. Camp Quality

Camp Quality focuses on attending to the needs of children who are living with cancer. The extra burden which these kids carry is not something to be taken lightly and Camp Quality aims to help children at home, at hospitals and even at schools. Their programs include Financial Support for bereaved families in extreme financial difficulty, Child Life Therapy which teaches coping strategies to children in hospital to help them deal with their illness inside and outside of hospital and a whole lot more.

8. Australian Childhood Foundation

The Australian Childhood Foundation tends to the needs of children who have suffered abuse, neglect and family violence. This includes both physical as well as emotional abuse which can greatly change a child’s viewpoint in life. They have programs such as trauma recovery to help cope with their childhood. Variety-the Children’s Charity is a national not-for-profit organization committed to empowering Australian children who are sick, disadvantaged or who have special needs. Variety is able to help children with three core programs namely: future kids, freedom kids and caring for kids. ACD NSW provides information and support to families of children or young adults with any type of disability across NSW in an effort to raise awareness of the issue facing parents, carers and families of children with disability and advocate for improved services. They are quite active as they provide information seminars on issues ranging from advocacy and supported accommodation to establishing trusts and will writing. Furthermore, they work with other groups, service providers, the government and other decision-makers on issues affecting families.

Marshmallow experiment | Blog 4brain

In the late 60s and early 70s of the last century, Stanford University professor Walter Mischel conducted a series of experiments in which he proved that children with this character trait are more likely to achieve success in life. What is this feature and why the experience was called “marshmallow”, we will describe below.

Background

During an experiment on the island of Trinidad, Michel noticed that the children of West Indian blacks and locals react differently to an offer to get a candy for 1¢ now and a candy for 10¢ a week later. Aboriginal children more often chose the second option.

How the “marshmallow experiment” was carried out

To further investigate this fact, Walter Mischel conducted an experiment that was later called the “marshmallow experiment”. As subjects, he took 16 boys and 16 girls aged 3.5 to 5.5 years. Each of the eight researchers had 4 children – 2 boys and 2 girls.

The experimenter brought the child into the room, seated him in a chair, and placed one marshmallow on the table in front of him. After that, he offered a deal: “Listen, I’m going out for 15 minutes now. While I’m gone, you can eat this marshmallow, or you can not eat it and get a second one as a reward. You decide.”

Results of the “marshmallow experiment”

As the researchers expected, most of the children did not wait and ate the marshmallow immediately. Only 1/3 of the subjects received a reward in the form of a double portion.

Walter Mischel published a study in 1972. However, the most interesting began after that. He followed the lives of the subjects until 2011. It turned out that children who postponed pleasure received higher scores on the SAT exam (analogous to the Russian Unified State Examination), had less bad habits and depression, and also received a higher salary.

Refutation of the “marshmallow experiment”

Do not be upset if in childhood you did not know how to restrain yourself and “ate marshmallows” right away. Scientists from the University of the City of New York doubted the results of Michel’s experiment, since he had a very small sample – only 32 people.

To refute the marshmallow experiment, they took 900 children from different walks of life and performed the same manipulations. It has been proven that the ability to postpone pleasure until later has little to no effect on success in life. Children from rich families who waited for the arrival of the experimenter and children from poor families who did not wait for the reward had the same chance of becoming successful.

The difference in results is due to the life situation. For children from low-income families, parents often promise to buy toys or sweets, but do not keep their promises due to lack of money. Therefore, such children are not inclined to trust other people and tend to enjoy immediately, because then it may not be.

It is easier for children from families with a high level of income to restrain themselves and wait for the arrival of the experimenter, because they know that they will always have something tasty at home. For example, ice cream or the same marshmallow.

Despite the study of New York scientists, it is difficult to disagree with the fact that the ability to endure helps in life. If you cannot endure difficulties, then quickly give up and achieve nothing.
