Flying non-stop from Chesapeake (Virginia) to Virginia Beach
Now let’s assume you have a private jet and you can fly in the
fastest possible straight line between Chesapeake, Virginia and
Virginia Beach, Virginia. Because of the curvature of the Earth, the
shortest distance is actually the “great circle” distance, or
“as the crow flies” which is calculated using an iterative
Vincenty formula.
Flight distance: 18 miles or 29 km
Flight time: 32 minutes
The straight line flight distance is 6 miles less than driving on roads, which means the driving distance is roughly 1.3x of the flight distance.
Your plane flies much faster than a car, so the flight time is about 1/1th of the time it would take to drive.
This is a relatively short flight in a private plane, but you might be planning to book a commercial flight. In that case, your travel time would really need to
include how many minutes to get to your local airport, wait
for security, board and taxi on the runway, land at the other
airport, and get to your destination.

City of Virginia Beach
Virginia Beach is a city on the East Coast of the United States. It is located in southeastern Virginia and is the largest city in the state.
Virginia Beach is one of the settlements that form the urban agglomeration of Hampton Roads (Hampton Roads), spread around the Chesapeake Bay. In total, about 1.7 million people live in this region. In the city of Virginia Beach itself, 448 thousand people live in 2013. Despite the fact that Virginia Beach is the most populous city, Norfolk can be considered the business center of the Hampton Roads region. And Virginia Beach is actually a resort “suburb”.
Virginia Beach is regularly included in the ratings and lists of the most attractive cities in America published by various publications.
On April 26, 1607, after an unusually long voyage lasting 144 days, 3 ships: the Susanna Constant, the Happy Way and the Discovery reached the mouth of the Chesapeake Bay. The Englishman Christopher Newport commanded the ships. He was a former pirate hired by the Virginia Company of London to establish a settlement in Virginia, a colony that had been settled by the British since the late 16th century. The colonists spent three days at the site of the first landing and named it Cape Henry (Cape Henry). From the Cape they set off along the bay and founded Jamestown, the first English settlement in what is now the United States.
The first settlement within what is now Virginia Beach was formed in 1621, but the area was poorly developed for over a century. Only from the end of the 19th century, after the advent of railroad communication and electricity, the small settlement of Virginia Beach was transformed into a resort area. Since the beginning of the 20th century, the resort has received recognition from tourists and in 1906 Virginia Beach received city status. Over the next 45 years, Virginia Beach continued to grow in popularity. Today, Virginia Beach is a family-oriented resort offering a classic beach experience. In addition to the beaches, which are about 60 km long, Virginia Beach can offer entertainment from fishing, surfing and whale watching to parks, attractions and casinos.
The main sectors of the regional economy: agriculture, business, industry, construction, trade and tourism.
The military is of great importance for the city: the army and the navy. There are 11 major military installations in the Hampton Roads region, including the world’s largest naval base, where the US Atlantic Fleet is based. 7 large companies producing defense/military products operate in the region at once. The direct contribution of the military to the economy is $13.5 billion. As of 2011, over 122,000 civilians and military personnel were stationed at the bases, and their combined earnings were estimated at $8.2 billion a year.
The volume of agricultural production is estimated at 120 million dollars a year. There are over 170 private farms in the region. The total value of building permits issued in 2011 was estimated at $461 million.
In 2010, 6.2 million tourists visited Virginia Beach on a one-day visit, and another 5.5 million were on a multi-day visit.

Requirements for the design of students’ notebooks (we observe a single spelling regime in elementary school)
Rules for the design of written work in the Russian language and mathematics
General provisions
· All entries in notebooks should be made out in neat calligraphic handwriting.
· It is obligatory for students to fill in samples, that is, the lines prescribed by the teacher (elements of letters, syllables, numbers that need to be corrected).
· Before each “Homework” it is necessary to issue a “Work on Errors”, in which it is necessary to correct the mistakes made in the previous two works (classroom and homework).
Russian language
1. After each class (homework) work, 2 lines should be indented (we write on the third).
2. When designing a red line, indent at least 2 cm (2 fingers) from the left.
3. During the entire work, we do not skip a single line.
4. When submitting works on a new page, write from the very top line, adding to the end of the page, including the last line.
5. On the left, when drawing up each line, we retreat along a single vertical line (no more than 5 mm from the edge).
6. On the right, we add to the end of the line using word wrap. There should be no unreasonably empty spaces at the end of each line.
7. When writing in a column, words are written with a lowercase letter without punctuation marks.
8. The date of writing the work is recorded in the center of the working line. From grade 2, it is allowed to write numerals in words in the notation of a number.
9. The title of the work is recorded on the next working line (without skipping a line) in the center and is drawn up as a proposal. (Classwork. Homework. Correction of mistakes.)
10. The numbers of all exercises are indicated in the center of the line. (For example, Exercise 14.)
11. All underlining should be done with a sharpened simple pencil along the ruler (in some types of work, underlining without a ruler is allowed).
12. The transition of students to work in notebooks in a wide range occurs in the 3rd grade. It is allowed to switch to work in notebooks in a wide range in the 4th quarter of the 2nd grade (at the discretion of the teacher, if the student has a successfully formed writing skill).
Mathematics
1. Between classroom and homework, 4 cells should retreat (on the 5th cell we start writing the next work). 2. Between the types of tasks in class and homework, 2 cells should be indented. 3. Between the columns of expressions, equations, equalities and inequalities, retreat 3 cells to the right, write on the 4th. 4. Job numbers should be written in the center of the line. 5. The number is traditionally written in the center of the line. 6. When solving problems, a brief record of the problem (in any version) is allowed if it helps the student. 7. When solving a task by actions, it is allowed to record explanations for each action and a short answer. When solving a problem with an expression, the answer should be written in full. 8. The answer of the problem should be written from the beginning of the line, 1 cell after the solution.

Pussy on blood: a monument to the soldiers of the Russian Expeditionary Force was desecrated in Paris On the night of February 7, unknown people painted the monument in the colors that members of the scandalous punk band
Pussy Riot wore. The vandals are calling for the release of the girls behind bars, reports Obsession .
The Russian Expeditionary Corps participated in the First World War in France. The monument is a statue of an officer, next to which stands a horse. The hooligans dressed the bronze warrior in a pink dress, pulling a yellow balaclava over his head, similar to those worn by participants Pussy Riot . Hooligans “awarded” the horse statue with a green veil and a blue balaclava. At the base of the monument, unknown people wrote: “Free Pussy Riot”.
This is not the first monument desecrated by supporters of Russian feminists. So, last summer, vandals similarly abused the monument to the Soviet army in Sofia, the capital of Bulgaria. They put women’s stockings on the heads of the soldiers. The unknown, however, did not leave any inscriptions on the monument.
Memorial to the soldiers and officers of the Russian Expeditionary Corps who fought as part of the allied armies in 1915-1918, was opened in Paris on June 21, 2011. It was designed by Russian sculptor Vladimir Surovtsev. The monument stands on the alley Cours-la-Reine – on the right bank of the Seine. (from here)
It is curious how Gazeta.ru delicately and shaking hands wrote: “In Paris, unknown stylized a monument to the Russian Expeditionary Force in France under the image of the punk band Pussy Riot, two members of which were sentenced to two years in prison for “punk prayer” in the Cathedral of Christ the Savior.” What a delicate, gentle word – “stylized”… I wonder if a journalist had a similar sabbath at his father’s grave – would he also write about “stylization”?
We talked about scum, and now about the monument, and why it was erected…
During the turning point of the First World War, Russia, faithful to its allied obligations, sent an expeditionary force to Europe in 1916 to assist the allies. His main contingent defended, along with French troops, the Champagne-Ardenne region. The Russian infantry near Reims especially distinguished themselves, blocking the way to Paris for German divisions …
Commander-in-Chief of the French Army Marshal Ferdinand Foch wrote: “If France was not erased from the map of Europe, it was primarily due to the courage of the Russian soldiers”.

Russian Expeditionary Corps on the Western Front
In response to an urgent request for help, the Sovereign Emperor ordered that special expeditionary troops be sent to France . In pursuance of the Highest Command, four Russian separate brigades, two regiments each, with a total number of 750 officers and 45,000 non-commissioned officers and soldiers, arrived in France in 1916. The 1st and 3rd brigades were sent to the Champagne front. 2nd and 4th – to the Thessaloniki front, to Macedonia.
Both here in France, on the fields of Champagne, and in the wild mountains of Macedonia, Russian special regiments covered themselves with unfading military glory. But the sacrifice made on the altar of the Fatherland in a foreign land was also great. The graves of Russian soldiers are scattered throughout France and throughout Macedonia. The largest military Russian cemetery, where more than a thousand of our brothers rest, is located near Mourmelon (Marne).
Battle of Ain At the international conference in Chantilly November 15 19On 1616, it was decided that in the coming spring to look for solutions to the war by going over to a general offensive on all fronts, provided with a maximum of forces and technical means. Russian troops were also involved in this offensive, which lasted until the end of April 1917.
The courage of the Russian soldiers, as well as the outstanding maneuvers of the Russian battalions, aroused the admiration of the French. In their reports about the April battle, the French called the Russian attack “brilliant”. The losses inflicted on the Germans by Russian troops in, in particular, the troops of Gen. Marushevsky were very impressive. All the trenches were filled with enemy corpses. However, Russian losses were also great. The losses of both Russian brigades, in one April operation, according to French sources, were determined at 5.183 hours, of which 70 officers.
It must be added that the attack of the 6th French Army ended in failure, but it is worthwhile to impartially state that the main and almost the only success in this grand battle of Ensk was in the sector of the VII Corps, which included both Russian special brigades.
Russian Legion of Honor The revolution has come. Russia is out of order. The special regiments of the Expeditionary Corps were disbanded by the French command and military worker companies were made up of them. The allies were suffocating under the onslaught of the German hordes deployed from the eastern front. The name of the Russian was then synonymous with a traitor. Hundreds of Russian soldiers, wounded in their national pride by the chaos in their homeland, and here by the contemptuous attitude of the allies, began to grow up to be sent to the Front. After long hesitation – so great was the distrust of the Russians, the formation of the Russian Legion was finally allowed – from volunteers of special regiments.
The heroism of the Russian soldier in France reached an extraordinary height in the combat work of the Russian Legion, which was included in the Moroccan shock division, the best division of France. The historian writes “who are these wonderful people who, shouting incomprehensible words, do the seemingly impossible – they pass that zone of death that neither the Zouaves nor the arrows could pass. These are the Russians of the Moroccan Division. GLORY TO THEM.”.
May 1918 The Germans abandon their best forces and tear at the front of the French army. In one leap, they jump over Chemin de Dam, cross the river Ain (…). The road to Paris is open. The Moroccan Division, thrown to the rescue, on horseback along the Soissons-Paris highway, takes the entire blow of the German boot. But the Germans bring fresh forces into battle and push the Zouaves in the center. At this critical moment, when it seemed that everything was already lost, the last reserve, the Russian Legion, rushed into the counterattack. The historian writes: “The Russian Legion rushes forward, with officers in front. Even the doctors, seized with the fervor of enthusiasm of this glorious phalanx, have forgotten their direct mission of mercy and, together with the fighters, break into the ranks of the enemy…”. This battle cost the life of the Russian Legion, losing 85% of its staff and almost all officers. Then the French press of that time for the first time adds a flattering word and calls it the “Russian Legion of Honor”.
Later, the Russian Legion receives a long-awaited replenishment of volunteers from special regiments and, as part of a separate battalion, takes part in breaking through the fortified Hindenburg line. For the sacrifice with which the Russian Legion performed his maneuver, the courage and courage with which he carried it out under the enemy’s hurricane fire, he will be presented for an award by the French Commander-in-Chief and receives the “Military Cross” and “Forager” on the banner.
If the gap in the fortified line of the Hindenburg was not deep enough and did not bring a final solution, then the morale of the enemy was so undermined that he began to withdraw his troops … The Russian regiment was transferred to Lorraine, but rumors of negotiations had already spread.
After the armistice, the Russian Legion entered Germany, where it was sent to the city of Worms assigned to it for occupation. Great was the surprise and indignation of the Germans to learn that their occupying troops were Russians. Our national white-blue-red flag was developed on the banks of the Rhine.
The word given by the Sovereign and Russia to the allies, represented by the Russian Legion of Honor, was kept.
Compiled according to the Instruction “Russian Expeditionary Corps”, pcs. captain of the 2nd Special Regiment V.A. Vasiliev (from here)
Here in honor of the soldiers and officers of the Russian Expeditionary Corps, who fulfilled their military duty, a monument was erected.
The monument, created by the Russian sculptor Vladimir Surovtsev, was opened on the Pont des Invalides on the right bank of the Seine, not far from the Pont Alexandre III and the Grand Palais exhibition center.
The project was funded by the Russian and French ministries of culture (Alexander Avdeev and Frédéric Mitterrand, respectively, were present at the opening ceremony), as well as by the Paris City Hall. By the way, it is interesting that the idea of creating such a monument belonged to the French Minister of Culture. François Fillon told journalists about this after the official speeches at the opening. I am glad that Vladimir and I opened this monument in memory of Russian soldiers who participated in the First World War. It was Frédéric Mitterrand’s idea, and he spoke about it one rainy evening by the fireplace in the music pavilion of the Matignon Palace. It took less than a year and a half, and the monument was opened. For me, this is a beautiful symbol of the quality of Franco-Russian relations.
The opening ceremony was attended by a guard of honor represented by all branches of the French army, as well as the choir of the Sretensky Monastery, which performed the march of the Russian Expeditionary Corps “Kol is Glorious”, after the fabric covering was removed from the monument. The ceremony ended with the march “Farewell of the Slavyanka” also performed by the choir of the Sretensky Monastery (from here)
Representatives of emigration were invited to special stands erected on the square for the occasion.
For the author of the monument, People’s Artist of Russia Vladimir Surovtsev, this is already the fourth monument in France.
Vladimir Surovtsev Any discovery is touching, exciting for the author. This is my third monument in Paris and my fourth in France. And each time, of course, is an extraordinary event. Every artist dreams of leaving his mark in Paris. Thank God, I succeeded. My projects have won competitions, and in this case, Mr. Mitterrand, the Minister of Culture, approved my project. And as a result, everything turned out, everything worked out.
Surovtsev worked on the creation of the monument together with his son Daniil: They worked for almost a year, this is a joint Russian-French project. The French side was engaged in landscaping, and the Russian side, of course, made the entire monument. The large pedestal was made of stone in Karelia. All this was cast in bronze in the city of Smolensk, there is a foundry.
Of those monuments that you know here, this is the monument to the pilots of the Normandie-Niemen regiment in Le Bourget. Now, just, an air show, and you can see it. And a monument to partisans-maquisars at the Pere Lachaise cemetery, and in the city of Noyes-Saint-Martin, a monument also to our partisans.
Interestingly, in the city of Salsk, Surovtsev created a monument to Sergei Leonidovich Markov, general of the Russian Imperial Army, one of the most prominent Russian military theorists. SUROVTSEV: What makes me very happy is that we have finally stopped reading the history of our fatherland and our state from 1917. We are finally coming to a deep, I want to believe in this, historical understanding that our state is already more than two thousand years old in general. And the previous history before the 20th century is no less interesting and no less dramatic than the history of the present and modern. I am proud that I have already managed to make a series on this topic with my son, in my opinion. important projects. You must have heard a memorial sign at the site of the death of the cruiser “Varyag” in Scotland, then we created a monument and installed it, opened it in Plevna – to General Skobelev. The book is being prepared now. I think the photo from this monument will be included in this edition. But the monument you spoke about, we made many years ago.

It is sad that some scoundrels desecrated the monument. Disgusting barbarism. To the credit of the French side, they managed to restore the original appearance of the monument. I hope they manage to find the bastards.
The monument to the soldiers of the Russian Expeditionary Corps, erected on the Seine embankment in the center of the French capital, has regained its former appearance thanks to the efforts of Parisian restorers. This was reported today to the correspondent. ITAR-TASS at the Russian Embassy in France.
The monument was vandalized on Thursday night by unknown hooligans who painted it in protest against the imprisonment of members of the Russian punk band Pussy Riot. “The Embassy immediately sent a note of protest to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs with an expression of indignation. In fact, this act was directed against our common historical memory of those who fought for our countries, – said the representative of the Russian diplomatic mission Sergei Parinov. – We hope that an investigation will be carried out, the perpetrators will be identified and punished.”
As the agency’s interlocutor noted, protest notes were also sent to the capital’s mayor’s office and the city’s police prefecture.0007
Now the monument has already been restored to its original form. The hooligans covered almost the entire sculptural composition with paint, and they used special car nitro enamels, which complicated the work of cleaning it. “It required the involvement of specialists , – explained in the diplomatic mission. – It was necessary to remove the paint and at the same time not damage the patina on the bronze.”
The monument to the soldiers of the Russian Expeditionary Corps was opened in Paris in the summer of 2011. It is installed in the historical quarter of the capital on the right bank of the Seine, not far from the Grand Palais exhibition palace and the Pont Alexandre III, during whose reign the Russian-French alliance was concluded. ontological method, he acted as
social and historical researcher

The first issue of the magazine “Way” was published
in Paris in 1925, where shortly before
N. Berdyaev moved there. Despite
objectively difficult for publishing
conditions of emigration, magazine
went out until the occupation of Paris
by the German army in March 1940. On
throughout all the years N. Berdyaev remained
permanent editor of the magazine “The Way”
and publishing house YMCA-Press.
During the war and immediately after it

how hard times scattered his former
authors on both sides of the Atlantic
ocean (having left France, many
settled in the US, UK and
other countries), and at the beginning of 1948 years old N.
Berdyaev died. .
“The Way” was considered an organ of the Religious-Philosophical
Academy (RFA) N.A.
Berdyaev , but in fact
published on YMCA traffic media.
He played a major role in the creation of the “Way”
YMCA secretary for Russian activities G.G.
Kuhlmann . At a meeting in May 1925
with the participation of YMCA Secretary General J.
Motta was decided
about the publication of the magazine. N.A.
Berdyaev assured J.
Motta that all the authors of the magazine
striving for creative reform within
Orthodox Church as opposed to
the most reactionary Orthodoxy.
N.A.
Berdyaev believed that the magazine
must carry out – contrary to any
attempts to return to the old-fashioned
religiosity – “spiritual leadership”
in relation to the “Russian intelligentsia”.
He wrote: “Within Orthodoxy,
be creative, renewing and regenerating
flow to meet new demands.
The position of the Orthodox Church in the world
changed drastically and catastrophically
it faces new challenges. Formed
a new way of the Orthodox soul, more
active, responsible, creative,
more courageous and fearless. IN

In the first issue of The Way, members of the editorial board
claim to be connected with traditions

and therefore the names of Khomyakov, Dostoevsky , Vl.

V. Nesmelova, N. Fedorova are near and dear
the leaders of this journal.
N.A.
Berdyaev admitted that his
the magazine is modernist, and
stated, in particular: In principle
the defense of “modernism” is the defense of life,
movement, creativity, freedom, thought. I
I would like “The Way” to be in this sense
“modernist” body, and I’m afraid
that it is not “modern” enough.
For tactical reasons, the organizers
decided that for the release of the magazine will be

The magazine bit by bit collected all the best,
what happened in the intellectual
life of the Russian Diaspora. Berdyaev
constantly emphasized that emigration
should solve an important constructive
the task is to preserve the cultural heritage
for future generations of Russia.
“Ways” had to fight for freedom
religious, philosophical, social
thoughts, for the freedom of creativity. And need
to think that the magazine succeeded in something in
in this respect to do. He got out and
above the usual political passions
emigration.
A key theme for many
years for foreign Russian press
there was a Bolshevik revolution. She
immediately revealed a terrible split between
upper cultural layer and folk
masses. The people have moved from naive faith,
in which have not yet been fully overcome
pagan superstitions, to the naive
materialistic and communist
faith. The Way wrote that a revolution is impossible
to deny, it is senseless to ignore,
despite the suffering she
brought to the people and especially
intelligentsia. There was no way back, and this
circumstance determined the special role
emigration.
The authors of The Way, for the most part,
advocated a genuine humanistic
socialism, philosophical justification
which was not built on a simplified
materialistic positivism
radical intelligentsia of the 19th century, and on
recognition of the spiritual and religious
potential of a harmoniously developed
personality. Socialism rooted in
in popular justice and
religious values of Orthodoxy,
associated with them was the goal towards which
the majority of the speakers strove to
pages of the Way.
N.A.
Berdyaev repeatedly repeated,
that the pages of his journal are open to
everyone, including Catholics and Protestants,
atheists and “Christian socialists”.
According to him, “the only exceptions were
representatives of clearly obscurantist,
directions hostile to thought and creativity,
who have sympathy behind them
part of the emigrant mass. The report on
activities of the RFA, uttered in
Chantilly April 30, 1933, N.A.
Berdyaev stated that
“The Way” “unites all literary
and scientific Christian emigration forces
with the exception of the obscurantist extremely
right wing hostile to
to any thought at all”
“The Way” has also become one of the sources
pro-communist propaganda
because N. A.
Berdyaev believed that “the dream
about the onset of community, i.e. communism
in the religious sense of the word,
mankind’s greatest dream.”
Subsequently, he admitted: “I think
the Soviet government is the only
Russian national government…
This does not mean that I am completely
support.”
The magazine was famous for its book reviews.
In total, The Way reviewed about 160
foreign publications, and 75 Russian. Here
easily traced educational
the purpose of the journal. His
reviews and reviews allow you to make sure
in the ecumenical passions of The Way,
as well as in high intellectual
level of the reader to whom he was
addressed.
The concept of the magazine “Way” found a hot
the response of the intellectual part of the emigration.
He managed to unite progressive
forces that wanted to fight for the spiritual
culture in an atmosphere of growing
Doukhobors. In the course of the struggle began
a new epoch in the emergence of Russian philosophical
thoughts on the European and world arena.

New York Times with a job offer, received letters with specific instructions: take a bus in the suburbs of New York to such and such a bus, drive to an inconspicuous factory-type building and ask for a certain Mr. Stevenson.
Neither diplomas, nor questionnaires, nor letters of recommendation were required from job applicants. They were asked to answer 163 different questions. Which is larger in area, Australia or Greenland? What wood are kerosene barrels made of? What is copra? What did James Watt invent? Which mountain is the highest in the world? And in America? It turned out that the famous inventor Edison was looking for employees and would hire those who correctly answered most of the questionnaire he had compiled.
The bulk of the candidates disappointed the employer. Of the 718 people who took the test, only 57 were able to correctly answer more than 70% of the questions (this was the threshold below which the inventor refused to work). And only 32 people gave more than 90% correct answers. Edison checked on his test and already working employees. Those who did not score the required number of points received a week’s salary and were fired.
Although the subjects were asked not to disclose the test questions to anyone, someone gave them to the newspapers, and wide circles of readers began to test their knowledge on the Edison questionnaire (Edison had to develop a new version for recruitment). Questions from the test began to be asked to celebrities and government officials, exposing gaps in their knowledge. With the light hand of Edison, all kinds of tests became fashionable. Kodak began to use a similar questionnaire when applying for a job. And the state of New Jersey began to subject everyone who wants to get into the civil service to a similar test. Later, psychologist Carl Brigham, developer of the New Jersey test, created a test for schoolchildren, the basic principles of which were used in many countries, and then led to the creation of our USE.
When Albert Einstein visited the United States in the same year, 1921, newspapermen attacked him with questions from Edison. After listening to these questions, the great physicist said that he did not intend to keep in mind, for example, the speed of sound, when its exact value can always be found in a reference book. From this incident, a common anecdote was born, according to which Edison, when meeting with Einstein, offered him several points of his questionnaire, and the scientist noted with chagrin that he would not have been able to get a job with Edison. This story got, for example, in the famous collection “Physicists are joking.” In fact, the two celebrities never met in person, although they spoke of each other with great respect in absentia.
In 1929, Edison announced a nationwide competition for the title of “America’s smartest schoolboy.” The jury included the inventor himself, Henry Ford, the pilot Charles Lindbergh and the founder of Kodak, George Eastman. The winner of the 49 finalists was 16-year-old Wilber Houston, who received a scholarship to continue his education at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Subsequently, Houston became one of the leaders of NASA, so in this case, Edison’s approach paid off.
It is curious that some (mainly mathematical) problems of this competition were published several years later by our well-known science popularizer Ya.

Jitter Juice is a tried-and-true class favorite that my students continued to talk about and reference as one of their best memories from the school year. Your students are guaranteed to LOVE this activity.
The Second Grade Survey will help you students share about themselves with you and their classmates. Grab the included templates and some sentences strips to create the cutest back to school paper crowns around. There are four different designs to choose from.
After a second grade-themed back to school read-aloud of your choice, find out how your students spent The Night Before Second Grade. Students will briefly draw and describe what they did before the big first day of school!
Follow up any of the get-to-know you activities with paper friendship bracelets. Give each student a page of bracelets to color and cut. Then, they can exchange them with their friends and promote conversations at home!
What’s in a second grader’s backpack? is a simple writing craft. Students write down things that a second grader needs to be successful. Then, create the backpack and place the writing paper within the pocket. This would make a super cute hallway display!

Monster Game
Circle Skip Counting
Community Ball Toss
Guess My Number
Sight-Word Bingo
1 Monster Game
The students are instructed to draw a monster on a piece of paper. On a separate sheet of paper, the students are instructed to describe the monster they have just drawn. When this is finished, all students pair up. The students are instructed to take turns reading the descriptions of the monster, while the partners draw the descriptions as they are read. When this is finished and all students have read their descriptions, the drawings of monsters are compared to the originals.
2 Circle Skip Counting
The teacher instructs the students to stand in a circle. The teacher chooses a number to count by (twos, threes, fours, etc), and picks a starter player. Beginning with the starter player and moving around the circle, each student says the next number in the sequence. Any student that says an incorrect number sits out until all students have been eliminated and a winner is declared.
3 Community Ball Toss
The teacher instructs students to stand in a circle. The teacher throws the ball (if indoors, use a squishy, non-bouncy ball) to a starter student, then the students are instructed to put their hands behind their back once they have had the ball, and the ball is tossed around until all students have had the ball just one time. The last student to receive the ball sends the ball back to the teacher. Next, the teacher sends the ball back to the same starter student, and the ball is tossed in the same sequence it was thrown in previously. The sequence is repeated once or twice, and then gradually the teacher begins to throw more balls into the circle, again following the same sequence, until there are five or six balls being thrown in the circle, at different points in the sequence.
4 Guess My Number
The teacher puts up a number line and says, “I am thinking of a number between…[insert two numbers]”. For example, the teacher thinks of the number 18. The teacher says, “I am thinking of a number between 5 and 33.” The teacher shows this on the number line with a sticky-note placed on 5 and a sticky note placed on 33. One student guesses a number–for example, 24. This is not the correct number, so the teacher moves the outer sticky note from the number 33 to the number 24, and says, “I am thinking of a number between 5 and 24”. This continues until the number has been guessed.
5 Sight-Word Bingo
This game is played just like ordinary Bingo, but the numbers have been replaced with sight-words. Each student is given a laminated card with a grid of sight-words on it (the center square is the “FREE SPACE”). The teacher draws the sight words from a hat, and the students mark the words on their laminated cards (with bingo chips or dry-erase markers) as the words are called. The first student who gets a line of marked words down his Bingo card shouts out “Bingo!” and wins the round.

Frequently asked questions
Who will benefit from online courses in mathematics?
During the extra classes, second-graders will learn new ways of solving problems and learn about interesting sections of mathematics that are not covered by the school curriculum.
Remote math courses are suitable for grade 2 students who want to prepare for lessons and tests, improve their grades, learn new formulas, show interest in the exact sciences, as well as for general development.
When are 2nd grade classes?
The format of math classes can be different:
simulators for solving logic problems – you can complete as many tasks at any time;
videos in the recording – you can also watch when it’s convenient;
online lessons with a teacher in real time – take place according to the schedule, but missed classes can be viewed through your personal account.
In the first option, there is no teacher – the child studies independently, choosing the correct answer. In the other two – there is a chat for communication with the teacher. He will not only answer questions during the lesson, but will also send detailed comments on homework mistakes.
How do I know if distance learning is right for a second grader?
Most online schools have trial lessons – you don’t have to pay for them. You will be able to watch the lesson with your child, evaluate the quality of teaching materials and the professionalism of the teacher.

Your family is unique to you, but some of your questions might not be. 😉 Here’s what most parents want to know when starting out.
What is NeighborSchools?
Hey there, nice to meet you 👋 We’re a new-ish startup that helps new-ish parents find daycare.
We know how hard finding good child care can be – especially for first-time parents. But really good care is what gives you the peace of mind to go back to work and feel confident that your child is getting the stimulation, socialization, and support they need to learn and grow.
So we created NeighborSchools to make this piece of parenthood a whole lot easier. We say “easier” because, let’s be honest, it’s still a big thing to figure out, but working together we can help you find some good options, understand the whole process, and choose a program you’ll feel really good about.
How’s it work?
Most first-time parents don’t know exactly what they’re looking for, so we created a simple survey that will ask you questions about your lifestyle, your daily routines, and your preferences for child care. We’ll then share 3 personalized recommendations that we think might be a good fit. We’ll also give you a timeline that maps out when we would suggest you start touring programs, choose a daycare, and pay a deposit to secure a spot. Your timeline is based on when you want to start care – so you set the pace, and you decide when you’ve found the right match.
Is there a cost?
Nope. Our daycare recommendation service is free for parents. The other half of our business is helping these small-scale daycares with software and services that handle all their administrative tasks, like online contracting, payment processing, and licensing requirements. Before NeighborSchools, services like these were only designed for large corporate child care centers, and part of our mission is to level the playing field for small, independent child care programs. That’s why we picked the name NeighborSchools – we’re all about making child care more personal, more human, and more equitable for the incredible individuals who do this work and care for our children.
How do I know if I’m ready to take the survey?
Generally, if you’re here, you’re ready. The survey lets us give you 3 recommendations to consider, but it’ll also help you better understand what factors to consider, and what questions to be asking right now. It’s simple things like where you live, your child’s date of birth, when you want to start care, and if you have any preferences around program philosophy or language of instruction. If you’re planning 6+ months ahead, it’s a great way to get started, and if you’re hoping to start daycare in the next 2-4 months, it’s definitely time to get started. Click here to start the survey.
How do I know if a daycare has openings?
Each program has a limited number of spots for each age range, so we need to know your schedule and child’s age before we can share availability. The survey covers these basics, as well as factors like drop-off and pick-up times to make sure that recommended programs fit your daily routine. Once we know your child’s age and schedule we can share rates and costs as well.

Newborn baby care | uzalo48.
lipetsk
In order for a child to have a good mood, we must provide him with a comfortable existence. An important role in this is played by proper hygiene and care for the baby.
Umbilical cord
At the birth of a child, a metal or plastic bracket is applied to the umbilical cord, and on 3-5 days after birth, the rest of the umbilical cord falls off in a healthy baby. Usually, by the time of discharge from the hospital (4-6 days), the umbilical wound is covered with a bloody crust. The umbilical wound should be treated 2 times a day (morning and evening after bathing) with a 2% solution of brilliant green. If there is discharge from the umbilical wound, then you should consult a doctor.
Scabs on the head
Scabs on the baby’s head are a minimal manifestation of a food allergy. As soon as the correct hygiene regimen and nutrition are selected for the child, the crusts will pass by themselves. You can smear the baby’s head with sterile vegetable oil and, when the crusts soften, carefully remove them with a cotton swab or soft sponge while washing the head.
Communication with the baby
From the first weeks of life, the baby perfectly understands your intonation – loud, sharp speech excites and frightens him, and affectionate, soft acts soothingly. Do not allow sharp cries, conversations in raised tones in the presence of a child. Do not turn on the radio, tape recorder, TV loudly.
Caring for your baby’s skin and mucous membranes
Proper hygiene of the skin and mucous membranes is extremely important, as the skin of a newborn is very vulnerable and can serve as an entrance gate for a number of pathogenic microbes. It is desirable that all procedures give the baby pleasure.
From the first months of life, the child should wash his face and hands daily in the morning, first with warm boiled water (32-34 0 ), then with water at room temperature. Be sure to toilet eyes, nose and ears. Each eye is washed with a separate wet sterile napkin from the temple to the nose. Cotton flagella moistened with sterile vegetable or vaseline oil are used to clean the nasal passages and ears.
Intimate hygiene
A child of the first year of life is washed after each bowel movement. Washing is done from front to back, from the genitals to the anus, so as not to bring germs into the genitals. After washing, the child is placed on a clean diaper and the skin is gently dried with blotting movements. Then the skin folds are smeared with vegetable or vaseline, or cosmetic baby oil or cream.
Bathing
An important hygiene procedure, which also has a hardening effect, is the daily bathing of the baby. A newborn baby should be bathed in warm boiled water (37 0 ). If the umbilical wound has not yet completely healed, then a little 5% potassium permanganate solution should be added to the water to a faint pink color. The duration of the bath for children of the first year of life is 5-7 minutes. At least 2 times a week, the child should be washed with baby soap or special baby bath foam. After bathing, it is necessary to gently dry the baby’s skin and lubricate the skin folds with baby cream. It is necessary to bathe the baby no later than 21:00, so as not to disturb his night’s sleep.
Walks and hardening
Walks in the fresh air are of great importance for the health of children. Regardless of the age of the child, you need to walk at any time of the year. If the child was born in the summer, you can start walking from the first days after discharge from the maternity hospital. In winter, walks can be started from two or three weeks of age at an air temperature outside of at least -10 0 . the duration of the first walk is 10 minutes, gradually the time of the walk increases to 1-1.5 hours. It is good to walk with the child 2-3 times a day. Dress the child for a walk, depending on the time of year and temperature. In winter, one warm blouse is put on over the clothes in which the child is indoors and a flannelette blanket is added over ordinary diapers. The child is then wrapped in a woolen blanket. In spring and autumn, the child is dressed less warmly. The child must be covered from the wind. During the walk, leave your face open.
Don’t miss a walk when it’s raining. In summer, it is desirable that the child stays in the fresh air as long as possible. You can not walk in direct sunlight and during the hottest hours.
The air temperature in the room where the newborn is located should be 20-22 0 C. A lot of light should penetrate into the room, during the day it is not necessary to cover the windows with curtains. To ventilate the room in the cold season, the window is opened for 10-15 minutes every 2-3 hours, reducing the temperature in the room by no more than 2 degrees. In summer, you can keep the windows open all day.
Changing diapers, dressing the baby, undressing him before bathing – the first air baths, the first tempering procedures. The duration of the air baths at first should not exceed 2 * 3 minutes. Gradually, the time is increased, and for children of 6 months of age it is adjusted to 15 minutes, and for children of 6-12 months – up to 20 minutes. the procedure can be carried out 2 times a day. In the summer, air baths are best done outdoors. Water quenching is very useful. It starts from the age of 3 months, it consists in a wet rubdown.
The use of diapers can sometimes complicate a baby’s life. The wet diaper comes into contact with the baby’s skin, which makes the skin moist. Increased skin moisture and the mechanical impact of the diaper on the skin leads to damage to its surface layers. All of the above can lead to the appearance of diaper dermatitis.
Modern diapers consist of several layers: the top layer is represented by a special napkin that lets urine in and serves as a barrier for it to come back out; an absorbent layer that absorbs urine inside. Diapers with a high moisture absorption capacity help keep baby’s skin drier, reduce the incidence of diaper dermatitis, have an anatomical shape and are comfortable for the baby, practical to use.

The first kindergarten with a rooftop playhub will appear in Moscow
photo: mos.ru/mka
A unique facility will appear in Moscow – the first kindergarten with a play hub on the roof. The eco-architecture of the entire space of the project instills in children a love for nature, allows them to move freely, without visual barriers and restrictions, while maintaining a logical comfortable zoning for both children and adults. This was told by the chief architect of Moscow, the first deputy chairman of the Moscow Committee for Architecture Sergey Kuznetsov.
All play areas are designed according to the principles of neurodynamics. This contributes to the formation of children’s speech, their susceptibility to learning and open communication, and also trains memory and other important skills. mos.ru/mka
“A unique children’s playground will be located on the roof of a one-story kindergarten building for 95 children and will be completely safe for kids. His pupils will have the opportunity not only to walk in the fresh air near the water, but also to develop in the atmosphere of natural spaces. This is a common practice in the world, but in Moscow, as far as I know, this is the first case,” said Sergey Kuznetsov, chief architect of Moscow.
A garden will be built on Simonovskaya embankment in Først residential complex. The concept of a rooftop play area in the natural landscape of a Scandinavian village was developed by Druzhba architectural bureau.
The site will recreate the image of the northern landscape, which is characterized by hills, glades, wooden and rocky surfaces, with fragrant herbs, moss, pine bark, wood chips and sand. A real children’s oasis that combines a holistic architectural image with full-fledged education.
Playhub will include a tower with sand lifting equipment, a spacious play kitchen, a play hill with a tunnel and a slide, nest carousels, hammock swings, a covered veranda with interchangeable bodyboard panels, in addition, a slatted fence with a chalk surface, a climbing wall and even a eustachian tube for secret conversations of little adventurers. The veranda offers a whole range of play scenarios: from outdoor activities to watching movies.

When the first kindergarten appeared in Russia, and What Russians borrowed from the Germans
Kindergartens have been known since tsarist times. The first preschool institutions opened in Russia in the 19th century. Moreover, the educational program was borrowed from the Germans. Then the gardens were paid, private and inaccessible to the common people. And only in the era of the USSR they became an integral part of Soviet life.
“Gardeners” and “flowers of life”
Author of the popular kindergarten methodology F. Froebel. /Photo: froebel-museum.de
The system for educating preschoolers in a children’s team was developed by the German teacher Froebel. He founded the first institution in Germany in 1837, which later became the prototype of today’s kindergartens. In a philosophical context, Froebel was listed as an idealist who considered moral education the foundation of a future bright society. In his methodology, he worked out in detail the individual positive qualities of the child, including developing and outdoor games in the programs. However, colleagues found his developments too formalistic. Frobel called kindergarten teachers “gardeners”. And children, according to the scientist, are God’s flowers, which must be cultivated with love. The kindergarten, according to the idea of the founder, was supposed to oppose the natural movement of human sprouts to the world bogged down in technicalism.
In the well-known children’s schools at that time, the pupils were engaged in knitting, memorizing the catechism, and all this in complete silence. Froebel proposed his own didactic complex in complete opposition to the existing ones. According to his teachings, “gardeners” maintained frequent dialogues with children, figuratively described each surrounding phenomenon, studied colors with them using multi-colored woolen balls, used visual aids in the educational process – cubes, balls and wooden toys. Froebel was the first to designate a kindergarten as an institution for the free development of young children. This system has gained popularity in many countries, not bypassing Russia.
The first Russian kindergartens for wealthy pupils

After the opening of the first paid kindergarten in 1859 in Helsingfors, a similar institution appeared in 1863 in St. Petersburg. The founder of a private kindergarten was the wife of Professor Lugebil. For the next 10 years, paid children’s institutions appeared in Voronezh, Smolensk, Irkutsk, Moscow, Tbilisi. The organization and directions of educational work in these gardens completely depended on the views of the patron. In some, mostly discovered by Russian Germans, the Fröbel system was methodically implemented. In others, the curators and teachers were looking for new vectors of work, criticizing the German teacher and following the statements of Ushinsky, Tolstoy and other Russian teachers.
For example, in the Lugebil kindergarten, they tried to get away from strict routine and regulation, giving pupils the opportunity to choose games and activities to their liking under the constant supervision of the “gardener”. In the warm season, all active entertainment took place in nature – in flower and fruit gardens, and in winter, children had fun on ice slides. The educators invited parents to observe the children, at the same time giving them professional advice for a favorable atmosphere in the house. Lugebil often participated in games and activities in person, which won the respect and favor of most of the families of the pupils. She emphasized the development of the imagination, so not a single day passed without fairy tales and lively conversations in her institution. The private garden Simonovich, which existed in St. Petersburg in 1866-1869, was also distinguished by creative delights.gg. In the newspapers of that time, he was even noted as “the most reasonable.”
Public Kindergartens for the Poor

The first free public kindergarten, accessible to the lower strata of the population, was opened in St. Petersburg in 1866 at the charitable Society of Cheap Apartments for the offspring of housekeepers. Classes there were organized according to the same Froebel system. The oldest preschoolers studied the Holy Scriptures, prayers, weaving, drawing and appliqué work. The people’s garden was equipped with a sewing workshop for sewing children’s underwear, a laundry room, a shared kitchen, and even an elementary school for children whose parents worked abroad. Older children learned elementary reading and writing for an hour a day, as well as conversations with a teacher. Having not found a response in power circles, the people’s kindergarten that had existed for several years was closed due to lack of money.
Soviet boom
Kindergarten in the USSR was a ubiquitous phenomenon. /Photo: mtdata.ru
The system of kindergartens developed most rapidly in Russia during the Soviet period, when the problem of centralized financing was solved. From the first years of the existence of the USSR, dozens of children’s educational institutions were opened. The young state needed working hands, including women. Therefore, according to the idea of those in power, the young mother, as a potential worker, should not have been puzzled by the question “with whom to leave the child.” In addition to the fact that state kindergartens took responsibility for raising children from toddler age, preschool institutions were the first stage of secondary education, which was enshrined in the Constitution. The nursery and kindergarten were at first separate structures (children were admitted to the nursery at the age of 2 months, the kindergarten recruited pupils from the age of 3). At 19In 1959, these divisions were united into one institution, where they were guided by the unified program of education and training “from simple to complex” developed by the Ministry of Education. The united nursery-garden was divided into seven groups – 3 nurseries and 4 kindergartens.
