My name is Curley Williams. Southern Hearts, I have the best 2 ladies that care for my mom, Kathy Petty and Angelia Carr. These women go above and beyond caring for my mom. Although Angelia has only been with my mom for a month she has made a big impression on my mom and the family. The connection these to ladies have with my mom is awesome, they keep a smile on her face as well as ours. I love they way they care for my mom. These ladies are the best, and I thank you for giving my mom 2 of your best. Kathy and Angelia. Thank Southern Heart for being the caring home care agency you are.

10/31/2019

All of the ladies that came and helped us while a family member was in home hospice were wonderful. They were always on time and went over and beyond what we expected as far as keeping our relative comfortable and at ease.

Veterinarian in Watkinsville, GA | Southern Hearts Veterinary Hospital

Southern Hearts Animal Hospital is a small animal general practice hospital. We strive to provide personal and individual care to dogs and cats of all sizes and shapes! We enjoy serving the families of our community. We are located in lovely Watkinsville, Georgia, an amazing community full of history and warmth.

We are locally owned and operated.  There is a current trend of large business corporations buying small privately owned veterinary hospitals.  We believe this takes away from the personal and individual care that we strive for.  This also impacts the local communities economically.  We live in the communities we serve.

As your family veterinarian in Watkinsville, the Southern Hearts Veterinary Hospital strives to offer full-service animal health care for your pet. We are trained and equipped to treat a wide range of injuries and disorders in pets of all ages and breeds. Since it’s always better to prevent illness and disease before they happen, we place a heavy emphasis on preventive veterinary medicine to keep your pet healthy, happy, and active throughout their lives. Here are some of the services we provide.

We provide personal and individual care for your furry loved ones. Our goal is to help your pet live the happiest and longest life. We would be honored to be part of your pets story!

”It took us 5 years to find Dr. Cox, and we are so glad that we’ve finally landed at Southern Hearts. She truly cares about your pet and provides such excellent care. The clinic’s staff is wonderful, too. I highly recommend Southern Hearts.

Deborah W.

Did you know we have an app for that?

Puppy & Kitten Care

Good health starts at the very beginning of your pet’s life journey. Regular checkups, vaccinations, parasite testing and deworming, and spaying and neutering will get them off to a great start. We can also advise you on proper diet, preventing bad behavior, and potty training. Ask about our new Puppy & Kitten Care Information Package.

Senior Pet Care

Just like their human partners, older pets have special health needs and concerns and should visit their veterinarian in Watkinsville more frequently than in their youth. We are very experienced at treating the physical conditions and ailments that pets often face as they age.

Wellness Care

An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure is our motto, and we’ll keep your pet healthy through a combination of diagnostic testing, regular physical and dental exams, vaccinations and parasite control, and nutrition and lifestyle management.

Pet Dentistry

Regular dental care is very important for the overall health of your pet. Periodontal disease is common in cats and dogs, and if not treated early the infection can spread throughout the body. Regular dental exams and teeth cleaning will help to keep oral problems at bay.

Surgical Services

We maintain a well-equipped surgical suite and diagnostic lab and can perform surgeries of all types, from minor procedures to major operations.

Emergency & Urgent Care

When the unexpected happens, you can rest assured that you have a veterinarian in Watkinsville who knows your pet and is available and prepared to provide emergency treatment when you need it.

Why Choose Southern Hearts Veterinary Hospital?

1

Personal Care

Southern Hearts Veterinary Hospital prides itself on not only offering compassionate veterinary care, but also care with a personal touch.

2

We’re Family

We treat our pets and pet parents as if they were our own family. When you visit Southern Hearts Veterinary Hospital, you’re not just another number or an invoice. You’re an important part of our family and our story!

3

Not Every Patient Is The Same

We treat all pets and pet parents who come through our doors as the individual that they are. We understand that every pet is different and may require a different method of care, so we do not practice based on a one-size-fits-all approach.

4

Experienced and Dedicated

Our Veterinarians have a combined experience of over 44 years in the veterinary industry. Whether it be soft-tissue surgeries, x-rays, in-house laboratory work or dental care for your pet, our staff will be sure to take good care of your furry family member.

Review of the clinic:
ON CLINIC Medical Center on Trekhgorny Val

Before the operation, the sister was examined. She underwent an ECG, then sent for an ultrasound of the heart. The doctor said that she suffered a heart attack, as he found some changes in the heart muscle. We were frightened, because she had never had pain in her heart. Now she is undergoing treatment in cardiology, then there will be an operation. Like this…

Daria

,

Today I was in the center, did an ultrasound of the cardiovascular system, a wonderful doctor, he calmly explained everything to me, comfortable communication, everything is clear, intelligible and attentive to the patient. Thank you.

Margarita

,

The doctor had doubts about the diagnosis. The cardiologist ordered an echocardiogram. We went to Lutzeva to do it. I want to thank Elena Viktorovna for her professionalism and human attitude. She helped to make the correct diagnosis and adjust the treatment taking into account the results of the ultrasound.

When I went to the hospital, I was already ready to take care of my daughter’s health.

    How was the pregnancy

During the first screening, doctors discovered a rare pathology of the umbilical cord. Normally, the blood between the fetus and the placenta moves through two arterial vessels, and we had only one in the umbilical cord.

Anomalies of the umbilical cord – The Fetus.net ultrasound database for prenatal diagnosis

This defect is detected in about one case out of 200 pregnancies. It is asymptomatic and usually does not affect the development of the child, but sometimes it still leads to complications, in particular, fetal growth retardation. So it was with us: at the second ultrasound, I was told that my daughter was behind the norm in terms of weight, height and other parameters, and at the third screening, the diagnosis of “fetal growth retardation” appeared in the exchange card – FGR.

Intrauterine growth retardation – Medlineplus medical library

It happens that IGR is given to children whose parents were also born with low birth weight – then we are talking about a hereditary factor. Babies are born healthy and quickly catch up with other children in physical development. But in my case, fetal growth retardation was precisely pathological, so it could manifest itself not only as a growth retardation, but also as perinatal problems. Due to placental insufficiency during pregnancy, fetal hypoxia occurred – lack of oxygen, and this is dangerous with neurological disorders.

In addition, the doctors found another anomaly – a true knot of the umbilical cord. It is formed when there is still a lot of space in the stomach and the child can turn over so that the umbilical cord forms a loop, and then passes through it. Also, at the end of pregnancy, my blood pressure periodically increased, and I was diagnosed with arterial hypertension. This also created risks for the baby: the placenta may lack blood, and the fetus may lack oxygen and nutrients.

High blood pressure and pregnancy – Mayo Clinic

As a result, I came under close medical supervision. In the third trimester, she lay in the maternity hospital for a long time. More often than others, I had an ultrasound: doctors monitored the state of the blood flow of the placenta and fetus, as well as its parameters. In order to assess the child’s activity and notice possible signs of oxygen deficiency in time, I constantly went for cardiotocography, CTG, a study to measure the child’s heart rate.

It was scary and morally difficult: I understood that the child would most likely be born unhealthy, but I did not know how critical everything would be. My biggest fear was that because of all our troubles, my daughter would have cerebral palsy, a disorder that causes movement and posture disorders. Fortunately, the fears were not confirmed.

    Cerebral Palsy – Mayo Clinic

Cerebral Palsy: Evaluation and Diagnosis – Uptodate

How the baby was observed after delivery

I gave birth myself. The daughter was born with a weight of just over 2700 grams.

She had a good Apgar score of , despite her IGR: 8/9. This is a system for assessing the condition of a newborn in the first and fifth minutes after birth according to five criteria: heart rate per minute, skin color, respiration, muscle tone and reflex excitability. For each of these criteria, they give from 0 to 2 points. The best score is 10/10, but the daughter’s result is also considered good.

How to quickly assess the condition of the baby on the Apgar scale

Doctors in the maternity hospital noted only a small weight and a weak sucking reflex. Because of this, it was not possible for her to breastfeed, and I began to give formula to my daughter.

Upon discharge, I was given a referral to the consultative and diagnostic center of the maternity hospital.

Pediatrician of the CDC, , to whom we got a month later, examined and did not find anything wrong. Visually, the child was completely healthy, all reflexes were normal.

In the children’s polyclinic , a pediatrician, a neurologist, an endocrinologist and even a geneticist saw my daughter. At each appointment, the neurologist wrote in the card “perinatal encephalopathy” – this is how the fact of damage to the nervous system in the perinatal period is indicated. Nevertheless, at that time, the development of the child did not raise any questions for any of the specialists. Everything except weight and height was age appropriate.

Moderate neonatal encephalopathy: pre- and perinatal risk factors and long-term outcome – US National Library of Medicine

But closer to a year, I began to notice that my daughter was lagging behind her peers: she did not point her finger at objects and did not say the simplest words.

Neurologist at the polyclinic diagnosed a delay in speech development, and we began to undergo examinations to understand how serious the changes were in terms of neurology and whether there were other reasons for speech delay besides neurological ones.

Infant Language Development – Mayo Clinic

Different Types of Speech Problems and Their Causes – Mayo Clinic

Here are the studies we did:

    1. Electroencephalogram of daytime sleep – EEG.
    2. Ultrasound of the vessels of the head and neck.
    3. Comprehensive hearing examination.

EEG shows signs of epileptiform activity. Such an examination is done on average once every six months or a year, we did it twice. Ultrasound of the vessels of the head and neck is prescribed to detect possible circulatory disorders of the vessels. Diagnosis of the hearing organs allows you to identify problems even at an early stage and in the youngest children who do not yet know how to speak. For this, for example, tympanometry is performed. This is a study in which the area of the auditory analyzer is determined, where there is a pathology.

    Epilepsy – Mayo Clinic

Diagnostic results showed that everything is normal with her daughter.

Psychiatrist in a private clinic diagnosed her daughter with mental retardation, ZPRR, when she was about a year and seven months old. I showed the child to several neurologists, psychiatrists, pediatricians and defectologists to get an alternative opinion. But all doctors agreed with this diagnosis.

We were offered nootropics for medical correction. I gave them to my daughter several times – under the strict supervision of a doctor and EEG. After one drug, she finally began to repeat words and sounds. After another, she began to remember the names of objects better and fulfill simple requests. However, I believe that a pill from which speech suddenly appears does not exist.

Speech therapist. For the first time I brought my daughter to classes at the age of one and a half. On the Profi-ru website, based on reviews, I found a specialist in starting speech in young children. But after a few months, she stopped noticing the results, and we went to another speech therapist.

His daughter has been taking classes since she was two years old — for about five months now. We come two or three times a week. I am completely satisfied with the work with the child and will tell you how it goes.

At first, with the help of a specialist, the daughter mastered:

    1. Correct speech exhalation. It is long, and during pronunciation, air must be directed through the mouth. To learn how to breathe properly, the daughter blew through a tube and played the pipe.
    2. Articulation gymnastics. It is necessary to drive the tongue in different directions, lift it up and down, push the bead on the thread with the tongue. Gymnastics develops the strength and mobility of the tongue, lips and palate.
    3. Motor imitation, when a child imitates the actions of an adult without being asked to do so. Let’s say a speech therapist knocks on the table with a hammer, and the daughter should intuitively do the same in response. The older the child, the more difficult the actions that must be repeated. After motor imitation comes articulation – the child begins to imitate the speech of an adult.
    4. Logorhythm. You need to sing simple songs: “Lalya, fall asleep, bye-bye.” I noticed that such classes are very effective. Logorhythm helped launch onomatopoeia and the first words.
    5. Auditory attention and phonemic hearing. To do this, the speech therapist showed her daughter pictures and turned on the appropriate sound. If there is a cow in the picture, then we listened to the lowing. If the hammer is a knock.

    /guide/better-call-logoped/

How to understand that a child needs classes with a speech therapist

Later we switched to visual-rhythmic series. Objects are assigned certain sounds, and you need to line up the objects in a row and repeat these sounds. For example, a cube is a sound [by], a stone is [ka]. We lay out a cube, a stone, a cube, a stone, and it turns out “bye, bye.” It also helps a lot in speech development.

The phrase constructor is still running. There are two pictures, for example, a noun and a verb, and with the help of this visual cue, the child learns to pronounce the first phrases. So the image of mom and a walking person turns into the sentence “Mom, go!”.

Here, the speech therapist asks to place figures of animals on the card and analyzes the concepts “for”, “above”, “between” and others with her daughter. Older children arrange the animals next to the card, according to the model. And the most difficult version of the exercise is to remember the desired sequence by ear and repeat it with the help of figures And this is a lotto for learning colors and geometric shapes. Daughter copes with the task with almost no errors

Daughter copes with the task almost without mistakes

Neuropsychologist classes were connected in parallel. Neuropsychologists give tasks based on a certain age, request, and problem. Our problem was that, in addition to the lack of speech, the child had disinhibition, sensory impairment, and motor clumsiness. Therefore, the specialist devoted much attention to the development of sensory and balance. The daughter felt the bags with objects made of different materials and textures, stood on the balancing board, and overcame all sorts of obstacle courses.

Thanks to these activities, progress appeared: understanding of speech improved, the daughter began to fulfill simple requests, point to objects, imitate motor actions in everyday life and learned the meaning of some verbs: give, put, bring, open, knock.

But I wanted more correction. In addition, speech development classes were quite expensive. So, the average cost of a visit to a speech therapist in Moscow is 1,750 R, to a defectologist – 1,500 R, to a neuropsychologist – 3,000 R. As a result, we spent 15,000 R a month to talk a child.

So I wondered if it was possible to get some help for free. I heard that speech therapists and speech pathologists deal with children who have speech problems in the kindergarten. You can also place your child in a speech therapy kindergarten or a compensatory group. But it turned out that all this has been relevant since the age of three, and at that time my daughter was only a year and nine months old. I did not know what to expect at an early age, and decided to figure it out. In the meantime, she went to the nursery group of an ordinary kindergarten.

How we do in the city psychological and pedagogical center pathologies in children, I was told that I could apply to City Psychological and Pedagogical Center of Moscow. A speech therapist, defectologist, psychologist and other specialists provide free help there. You can get there by personal appeal after a commission, which is carried out on the spot. In total, there are 26 branches of the center in the city.

The website does not indicate at what age assistance is provided free of charge. I heard that it makes sense to apply there closer to two years. They have been taking paid classes for a year already.

How to get there. My daughter was not yet two years old, but I still decided to try to get free classes. I chose the nearest branch and signed up there through the center’s website. Waited for about a week.

I filled out such a questionnaire in order to get an appointment at the center. You can choose any convenient branch in Moscow. Source: ais.gppc.ru

At the first visit, the presence of the child is not required. It is necessary to sign an agreement for the provision of psychological and pedagogical assistance, and for this, submit documents. I collected:

    1. Passport.
    2. Daughter’s birth certificate.
    3. Her SNILS.

I also filled out several questionnaires with information about pregnancy, childbirth, problems with the child. The woman who arranged for me noted with skepticism that it is unlikely that we would be offered classes at that age. However, everything worked out.

On the appointed day, we were met by three specialists: a speech therapist, a defectologist and a psychologist. They talked to me, looked at the medical documents and examined the child. We played with our daughter and gave her several tasks by age: assemble a sorter by colors and shapes, show the desired animal and say what sound it makes, give a toy at the request. All tasks, except speech, my daughter completed. The commission lasted about 15 minutes.

We were offered group lessons with a defectologist once a week. I agreed.

How are the classes. There are seven children aged two to three in our group. When my daughter got into it, she was the youngest – she was a year and ten months old. Classes are held once a week, without parents, and last 45 minutes. Two teachers work, so they have time to pay attention to each child: they are engaged in logorhythmics, fine motor skills, calling vowels, syllables and onomatopoeia, and creativity.

    /list/speech-problems-myths/

“If the child does not speak, just wait” and 7 more myths about speech disorders and the work of a speech therapist

So, at one thematic lesson, the kids listened to the voices of birds in the recording to train their phonemic hearing, and then guessed who they belonged to and imitated bird voices. And those children who already pronounced simple sounds well tried to repeat the names of birds and showed what their actions, in addition to singing, are also loud. For example, they knocked like a woodpecker and pecked at grains like a chicken. These exercises develop motor and articulatory imitation. The children also dismantled the structure of birds and worked on fine motor skills – they made crafts on the topic of the lesson.

Often the topics of classes are related to some holiday or memorable event. In the classroom, they not only work on speech, but also expand the horizons of children. My daughter always runs out of the office happy, with a craft and a sticker. It is important that teachers briefly tell parents what the lesson was about and give homework – this is how children consolidate their skills.

To evaluate the effectiveness of work in the center, you need to periodically go through a second commission. At the end of May 2023, 12 months after the start of classes, we just did it. The order of the commission was the same: they examined my daughter, asked me if we liked the classes and if we wanted to continue. I wanted.

What are the disadvantages. I’m a little embarrassed that the classes are group classes. Still, the development of children varies greatly. When we first came, some of the kids from the group were already speaking in long phrases, and the daughter only uttered a few vowels – [a], [y], [and] – and could not say a single syllable. Individual work, in my opinion, would be more useful.

I also counted on the help of several specialists, but we were offered to visit only a defectologist. At first, I thought that this happened due to age: after all, my daughter was very small. But a year later, we were again assigned one defectologist and only in the group. However, I am grateful for that too.

How Moscow’s early intervention service works

I learned from mothers from the community that in many cities there is an early intervention service, where they work specifically with children under three years of age who have developmental disabilities. There were more than 10 such centers in Moscow. They are mainly engaged in the rehabilitation of disabled children.

The Early Intervention Service website lists the categories of children who are helped here. My daughter fit the category of children with speech disorders.

How to get there. I left a request on the website, indicating information about myself, the child, the diagnosis. Soon they called me back, asked about my daughter and told me where the nearest center was to us. They offered to sign up for a commission.

Questionnaire on the website of the early intervention service. Source: srp.dszn.ru

We arrived there the next day. The commission included a speech therapist, a correctional teacher, a psychologist, and a specialist in alternative physical culture. I brought a standard package of documents and examinations of my daughter with medical reports.

We talked for about an hour. All this time, the specialists played with my daughter, and at the end they offered me to conclude an agreement for gratuitous assistance and gave me a questionnaire about the development of the child. I filled it out at home.

The questionnaire contained several tables about what self-service, communication and behavior skills a child should have at different ages. I noted whether my daughter has them and what I would like to develop. So, at the age of two, a child should use most of the toys for their intended purpose: feed the doll and put it to bed, roll the car. Also at this age, the imagination begins to develop in the kids and they can replace one object with another in the game. Suppose, imagining yourself as a singer, use a comb or a bottle instead of a microphone. From the age of two, role-playing games appeared: doctor, mother-daughter, shop. In this we just had a gap.

In the questionnaire, it was necessary to note whether the child is mobile, how he responds to requests and how independent he is

Two weeks later, the curator from the early intervention service wrote to me. She said that we were assigned classes with a correctional teacher and a specialist in alternative physical education twice a week. The time turned out to be very convenient for us. We began to come there after an afternoon nap in kindergarten and studied for an hour. The lesson is divided into two parts: first, one teacher works with the daughter, then the second.

Taking into account personal data, an individual early intervention program was compiled for the daughter, in which goals, objectives and expected results were prescribed. It is updated every three months.

This is the first individual program for my daughter. It includes not only speech development, but also the development of gaming and simulation activities, self-service skills

How are the classes. The program was designed in such a way that, first of all, to cover the needs that I indicated in the questionnaire. A correctional teacher works on large and fine motor skills, speech, general development, helps her daughter master role-playing activities. Together they study the colors, shapes and properties of objects, types of animals and their habitat, compare pictures with a real object, determine the position in space in order to understand the concepts of “behind”, “under”, “above”: they arrange figures and cubes with animals. Such exercises also train auditory perception and memory.

Logo-rhythm, dancing, role-playing games are also part of the activities with the child.

How to help your child speak faster

In physical education, my daughter develops dexterity and coordination of movements: she climbs various obstacles, crawls, throws and kicks the ball, learns to jump and ride a tricycle.

In this hall, classes in alternative physical culture are held

Classes are individual, and this is a huge plus. I also participate in them in order to understand how to deal with my daughter at home. In addition, I see that the specialists really have a lot of experience. They know what they are doing, they know how to find an approach to each child and want to help.

A few months later, I asked our curator to include classes with a speech therapist in the new three-month program, and our wishes were taken into account. We continue to go to the early intervention service and are very satisfied.

What are the disadvantages. Sometimes there are minor problems due to the schedule or the right specialist is not on site, but our curator always finds a way out of the situation. I am completely satisfied with both the training program and the attitude of people to their work and to us.

Here, the daughter studies with a correctional teacher

Plans for the future: classes at the Center for Speech Pathology and Neurorehabilitation

When her daughter was still a year and a half old, the neurologist promised that as soon as the girl grows up, she will give a referral to the Center for Speech Pathology and Neurorehabilitation – TsPRiN. They help children with various speech problems. Speech therapists, psychiatrists, neurologists, neuropsychologists, physiotherapists, physiotherapists work with them.

I didn’t immediately ask the doctor at what age you can get there, and later I found out that the parents applied to the Center for Natural Resources in person, without referrals, and their children were helped. I also wanted to try.

How to get there. To place a child there, you need to leave an application on the website, make an appointment and go through the specialists of the consultative and diagnostic center. This is also a kind of commission. They decide whether the child needs classes.

    /dysgraphia/

I spent 471,500 R over 12 years to treat my son’s speech and writing difficulties. They are already required for diagnostics. In the questionnaire, I only indicated the data of the child and mine.

After some time, I was contacted and explained that free help is provided to children over two years and six months old. For this, the child must have a Moscow registration. For a fee, you can apply from the age of two, including non-residents.

They saved my application and offered to come to the center in the summer when my daughter is two and a half years old.

Not everyone is taken to the center. Here is a complete list of pathologies for which you cannot get a referral to the diagnostic department We hope that in June we will be able to undergo a diagnosis

What progress have we made in development?

Daughter learned to pronounce more than 50 words and onomatopoeia – the simplest, but nonetheless. Among them are mom, dad, give back, BBC, top top and others. She also mastered several phrases: “Who is there?”, “Mom, go”, “Lalya am”. And I understood how to conduct a dialogue in the format of yes-no answers. Now the daughter is already responding to household requests and fulfilling them, imitating the actions of adults.

Our teachers continue to work with her speech: they expand their vocabulary and complicate speech constructions. They also develop motor skills and correct the emotional-volitional sphere: they teach the child to understand their feelings and emotions, to cope with them. For example, if during difficult tasks that are not given to the daughter, she starts to get angry, the correctional teacher tells her something like: “Yes, now you are upset and it is difficult for you to complete the task, but you need to learn how to do it. Let’s try to take it apart together, and then draw it.”

Experts give favorable forecasts, but you have to work hard. We are recommended to go through a psychological, medical and pedagogical commission in order to place our daughter in a special group of a kindergarten. The PMPK determines whether a child needs special conditions to receive an education. If the commission recommends, classes with a psychologist are possible as early as September. As for the school, everything will depend on further development.

    /guide/pmpk/

What is PMPK and how it works

How much I save with free classes

Daughter attends free individual classes with a speech therapist, correctional teacher, alternative physical education teacher, and also group classes with a speech pathologist. If all this time I turned to such specialists for money, then I would spend 6,000-8,000 R per week, and at least 24,000 R per month. He specializes in behavioral therapy, and there is no such service in our centers. I used to think that behavioral therapy is more needed for children with autism spectrum disorders, but now I understand that it is relevant for any psychological, psychiatric and behavioral problems. Our specialist is also involved in launching speech, but does this taking into account the daughter’s behavioral disorders: hyperactivity, negativism. We will continue. These exercises do not replace the rest of the correction, on the contrary, they harmoniously complement it.

I hope that we will still get to the center of speech pathology and neurorehabilitation and pass the central psychological, medical and pedagogical commission – CPMPC. I would like to devote more time to speech development. And if I can get such help for free, I will be glad.

    /logosad/

How we saved on classes with a speech therapist 145,000 R

I want to return part of the money spent on treatment. Through the website nalog.gov.ru, I applied for a tax deduction for consultations with doctors and classes with a neuropsychologist: he accepts at the medical center, so this is possible. I expect to receive 5600 R.

    Drawing life with teeth

    Chapter 1

So, the “fairy tale” begins! Under the title “Life is an interesting thing”

Dedicated to my mother, who dissolved in me, who devoted her whole life to me.

Families in which teenagers born in 1940-41 lived were all affected by the Second World War, in one way or another.

My mother Zhenya was born in one of such families. Her father was taken to the war, he ended up in the hospital several times due to minor injuries. After treatment, Valentin Mikhailovich returned to the front line. But the last time a mine exploded next to him and received a concussion, multiple shrapnel wounds, one fragment hit the kneecap, after which the leg did not bend. In the hospital, having healed his wounds, his wife, Anisia Ivanovna, came for him, he was so weak that his wife carried him in her arms from the hospital ward to the cart. Having healed, Valentin went to work as an accountant. Well, my wife worked at the elevator. After the war, there were no more children in the family.

My father Yury was born in a large family. He was born on June 23, he was the fifth in the family and the last, on June 22 the war began, and on the 23rd Yurinov’s father was taken to the front, and he never saw his son, missing, Yurina was raised by the mother of five boys alone , the guys all grew up good. Helped my mother both at home and at work.

My parents were 15 years old when they noticed each other and from the side of the boy, as Eugenia’s mother called Yuri, pebbles flew as signs of attention to Zhenya. Well, of course, as it always happens, they started dating.

They went to the same school, but in parallel classes. We have been friends since the eighth grade. Then they moved to the evening school, began to study and work in grain.

They kissed for the first time at graduation.

When we finished the party, we went in different directions to study further, to get a specialty. Yuri to Irkutsk, Evgenia to Angarsk.

But Yura’s heart could not stand the separation from his beloved, and he moved to Angarsk and submitted documents to the same educational institution where Zhenya entered to study. At the Polytechnic College with a degree in plumbing.

They got married in their 4th year. They applied for registration, a week later they came and registered, and went to work. The wedding was the same as in those days, but it was in 1962.

At one time, the folder finished his studies and went to work as a mechanic at the UVK plant, after a while he was appointed a senior mechanic, and then a shop manager.

A year later I was born, everyone was happy and happy, but happiness did not last long after six months I got sick.

Yes, so much so that she almost died, one could say she died, if not a single nurse who went to the morgue for something and saw a bundle on the table that moved and squeaked. She grabbed the child, ran to the doctors. And then my mother came with oxygen, I was already in bed again. When she was told what had happened, she almost fainted!

And hard everyday life began, the struggle with the disease.

I was born as a normal healthy child. At six months, he was vaccinated against polio. In the 1960s, in Angarsk, Irkutsk region, many babies were born who were diagnosed with cerebral palsy with intact intelligence, but the muscles were all tightened, some had more, some had less. I was pulled off the most, among our friends who have children with a diagnosis of cerebral palsy. And we have 5 families, which our parents met at medical examinations in clinics, at resorts.

Doctors blamed either bad ecology or poor-quality vaccine for vaccinations. When I was born, my mother and father were 22 years old. When they found out that my daughter was sick, they were ready to do anything to make it easier for me.

“My daughter was crying all the time,” my mother recalls. – To be with her all the time, I left the technical school.

One of the brightest childhood memories, when I was taken to Irkutsk for a medical examination at the age of three. Dad came into the office with his daughter, mom stayed in the corridor, at that time she was pregnant with her brother. About ten minutes later, the father jumped out: in his right hand, his half-dressed daughter, in his left, her T-shirt and blouse, “Is that all?” Mom was surprised, and out of excitement he somehow dressed me and said: “Let’s go home!” and saying “No, no, my little one, I won’t give you anywhere.” Only after many years I told my mother that the doctors suggested that my father send me to a boarding school. They said: “Well, why do you need a handicapped child? You are still young, give birth to a healthy one … ”But I was very lucky with both my mother and father.

My mother tried to take me to a sanatorium kindergarten when I was three years old. But nothing good came of it. I have only one memory left, how I apparently fell to the floor and children’s sandals began to beat me in the face and since then I have recognized the taste of blood in my mouth. My lips and nose were broken. Mom saw this, what happened to me and didn’t go there anymore. Thus ended the visit to the kindergarten.

Years passed, they gave me medicines, took me to resorts. To Evpatoria, Usolye-Siberian, Nilova-pustin.

Nilova Pustyn I remember most of all by the fact that the folder dragged us all to the hill, I was on one hand with him, with the other hand I helped Andryushka and mother climb to the top of the hill. The hill was steep, it was impossible to stand straight on your feet, only on all fours. But when we got up, I was taken aback by such beauty, although I was 6 years old, there was a sea of snowdrops, I have never seen anything like it. I don’t remember how we got down.

Well, of course, Yevpatoria, the Black Sea is warm, evening walks along the embankment, the smell of roses, everything is so tender and soft. We have a completely different nature in Siberia – graceful, strict.

But I didn’t feel any improvement. At the age of three, they held me by the hands, and I walked like that, I could move like that until I was 12, until they put some kind of apparatus on me, I apparently strained or tore the tendons of my right leg in the groin. There were hellish pains, I could not sit, let alone stand. This went on for several months, then slowly let go. I could no longer walk.

We lived very friendly. When I got tired of watching TV, in those days there was nothing to watch, then dad began to read fairy tales. We especially liked it when he read the fairy tale “The Little Humpbacked Horse”, no, he didn’t read the folder, he played roles, like a one-man theater. It was a lot of fun, and at that time my mother was sewing, mending, darning something.

Every weekend we went to the forest, baked potatoes, and sometimes cooked shish kebabs. it was possible to cook barbecue when we went to the village for meat to grandparents, they helped us very well with food. My grandparents ran a small household. In 1975, they also bought a Zhiguli with their help. The folder was allocated at work. He worked at the plant as a shop manager.

We started going to the village more often for haymaking, the adults mowed hay before lunch, and after dinner my brother Andrey kindled a fire and baked potatoes, everyone gathered near the fire, had lunch, and went to pick mushrooms or berries.

Dad often took me alone if he went somewhere in nature, for example, fishing with his friends or to the village, and then to the lake. I was not afraid of anything if the folder was nearby. If he told me “let’s go”, the answer was always positive, where to go – it doesn’t matter where, as long as you go. I generally like the road. It seems to me that if I were healthy, I would constantly go somewhere.

    Cringe-free babyshower ideas for Dads

Who says a baby shower is only for the mum-to-be and her female friends? These days there are no hard-and-fast rules around who can or can’t be present at a baby shower, so why not throw a co-ed celebration where both Mum and Dad can attend. We’ll break down some ideas of how Dad can be included and both parents can celebrate their impending new arrival.

    Ditch the pink
If the boys are invited then you might want to veer away from the traditional, more feminine baby shower themes. Stay clear of pastel colours and opt for neutral colours or bright tones instead. Something like a sports theme could work well if both parents are sports enthusiasts or support a particular team.
Make sure you specify on the invitation that you’re hosting a co-ed celebration and it’s for both parents to celebrate the impending new arrival.

    Serve some guy-friendly grub
Focus on the food and ensure your menu includes some substantial food offerings. An afternoon barbecue would appeal to both males and females and is a great way to mingle in a relaxed, sociable setting. Just make sure the mum-to-be is catered for with pregnancy safe food to eat and alcohol-free beverages such as the CosNOpolitan using Seedlip Grove tonics – check out the recipe here. Or you could have a Mexican-themed fiesta and set up a serving station of make-your-own nachos or tacos with salsa and guacamole. Let’s not forget those margaritas too – non-alcoholic ones of course.

    Update the traditional games
Be a bit more selective with the games you play and choose games that both males and females can participate in and have some fun with. Outside games can be a great option – things like ‘break Mum’s water’, where you partner up and throw a water balloon between sides, increasing the distance after a set number of throws until the balloon breaks and you’re ‘out’. You could have a nappy-changing race, and even get the guys to “experience” what it’s like to have a giant baby bump by putting balloons under their shirts – there’s a perfect sneaky photo opp, right there!

    Gifts for dad too
It’s probably fair to say that the Dad-to be isn’t going to be overly excited about the frilly baby outfits and other cute baby items that are usually gifted at a shower. An alternative could be asking the male attendees to honour the expectant father and bring him a small gift. You can guarantee that there will be some humorous and unique offerings and it’s also a great way for the Dad to feel included in the celebrations.

Although it’s a break in tradition, with a few simple shifts in décor, entertainment and catering you can easily turn a traditional shower into a joy-filled, co-ed celebration that allows both parents to celebrate the new arrival to the family. At the end of the day it’s a celebration of love, showing the parents to be that they are supported by family and friends. Let the fun begin!

What to give Dad from a child for his birthday with his own hands. Ideas

The father plays an important role in the life of any child.

On the birthday of the father, the child should show the parent how he treats him and thereby thank him for his care and love, which he gave throughout his life.

    6. From a son or daughter 25 years old and over

How to choose a gift for dad for a child

When choosing a gift for dad for his birthday, you should keep in mind one important rule: no platitudes. It is unlikely that a child will guess to give dad a set of socks or new razor blades for his birthday. Such gifts are given by other people.

Gifts from a child are always something surprising and heartbreaking, because even if the quality suffers a little due to age, it will still be the most sincere and pleasant gift.

When a child is looking for a gift for dad, everything depends on his abilities, and, as a rule, age.

For example, if a child is only 8-10 years old, then it will be more difficult to choose and buy a gift than for a wealthy and mature man of 30 years old. Most likely, mom will help choose a gift, so if the child has doubts, then help him.

    Child 5-15 years old

At this age, children usually do not have much money, so children at this age can give love and their efforts, which cannot be bought for any money.

Even the most simple and modest gift can show these feelings and qualities. And of course, mom’s help will not hurt.

    Gifts from the heart

    Set the table

An original gift for dad’s birthday with his own hands can be the fruit of labor in the kitchen in the form of some yummy or a full lunch/dinner. Yes, you may spend all day on it, but the result will amaze everyone.

It was not a bad idea to give cookies or other dishes the shape of a heart, or write on the cake.

If dad doesn’t have a sweet tooth, then his favorite cutlets or steaks on a festive plate will please him no less than someone else’s cake. We will decorate such a plate with flowers from radishes and tomatoes.

    Decorate the whole apartment

If it is customary in your family to invite friends and relatives to birthdays, why not decorate the apartment for them to come?

Sweeping the floor and washing the dishes is easy. And inflating balloons, buying pipes and cone hats for all guests will only be a joy!

This will cheer up the whole family.

    Do-it-yourself gift for dad’s birthday

But most often at this age, children don’t have money, and therefore they decide to make gifts with their own hands.

Girls can do something like this:

    • Buy a waffle towel and make it satin stitch or cross stitch making an original birthday present for dad. Believe me, no one will have such a towel!
    • If you have skills in making products using the macrame technique, then you can weave a cool keychain for keys or a phone .
    • If you like knitting, then you can knit a scarf or a hat for dad , or you can even knit socks! Such gifts for dad will warm him on cold winter days.
    • You can sew a pillowcase on his pillow .

But boys can do a lot. For example :

    • In labor lessons, ask the teacher to help you do Papa’s tool or tackle box .
    • Customize disc stand or accessories .
    • Try to make a real hammock and give it to others.

For a child from 15-25 years old

Gifts of an exclusively material nature are not always needed. The father will always appreciate the attention shown to him, and not the value of the gift.

    Family Party

For this unforgettable celebration, invite the whole family to dinner.

Often, due to overly busy everyday life, we practically do not see our relatives and friends, but a birthday is an occasion and a very significant one.

    Things for everyday use

Among the ideas of gifts for dad on his birthday can be gifts “not for the holiday”, but for every day. Take a closer look at your father and his field of activity.

Perhaps he is the head of the team, the leader. Doesn’t he need a notebook or a roomy notebook ? She may need a pen as well. There are a lot of such things in the stationery store and it is not difficult to choose what you and your father will like.

But high-quality cover for mobile will help to keep the phone without cracks and scratches at the construction site or similar place.

The same can be bought for a tablet. And you can give a bag for a laptop or a new purse.

From a son or daughter aged 25 and over

Parents and children now have more in common, and the financial resources of the younger generation are expanding.

    And again gifts-emotions

On his birthday, father should be reminded of how you feel for him. After all, this is how he makes sure that he is loved and revered in his own family.

To create an eternal family idyll, we suggest making the following original birthday present for dad: family portrait.

The main thing is that such a birthday leaves not trinket gifts, but warm memories and pleasant emotions.

Every dad wants a gift to match!

Parental hobbies can also prompt you to choose one or another gift.

    Collector – collector’s item.

Here, the search for a gift will take a lot of time, because. you will need to kill two birds with one stone: buy something that will really be collectible, and not buy something that is not already in the collection.

    Chef from God

If your dad is just a fan of the kitchen, then you can give him something that will be related to this topic. Let’s say it will be a special marinator for a barbecue lover or a barbecue set as a gift), or even purchase kitchen brewery . Such a gift will not be used every day, but it will still bring pleasant emotions every time you use it.

By the way, a birthday present for dad may not be so expensive. So, new apron for the kitchen will already be a great gift, while not hitting the budget too much.

    Traveling forever

If the father is still a traveler, then you should seriously think about how to make his travels much more comfortable.

Let’s say you can buy a new hiking backpack , which will not be battered by time and with a lot of convenient features, such as adjustable straps, volume for a large number of liters, the presence of a suspension system and the strength of the material.

And you can give a cool navigator to the car as a gift. A hiking knife, a flashlight, a good thermos and a camera will also come in handy.

In such birthday gifts for your father, you will express your love and reliability, that you can rely on at any moment.

There are many gifts to choose from, but the most important thing is that on this day there should be a sea of smiles, sincere and tender words.

A gift for dad on February 23

The end of winter is rapidly approaching, which means that one of the most important winter holidays – Defender of the Fatherland Day – will come very soon. When thinking up gifts for your relatives and beloved men, do not forget about the future, the smallest defenders! However, this article will not focus on the gifts that they will receive, but on those that they will make with their own hands – for their dads, grandfathers, brothers and everyone they want to congratulate. And if so, then you can connect not only boys, but also girls to the creative process.

We present to your attention the best creative ideas that you and your child can implement on the eve of the holiday.

Burning and sawing. Every father wants to be proud of his child, and the best way to achieve this is to show that the baby is successfully following in his footsteps. Wood burning has always been and continues to be a favorite hobby of all boys and girls. Dad will be incredibly happy to receive from his son or daughter the gift that he may have once made for his father! A good alternative to the burning technique is sawing with a jigsaw. A simple tool, precision, and patience is all your child will need to create an openwork wooden thing, such as a hot plate. A jigsaw with additional files and plywood are included, but an electric burner for most sets is purchased separately.

Gifts made of wood look great and are stored for a long time, so prefabricated wooden models will be wonderful gifts for February 23rd. Without glue and a hammer, your child will build planes, helicopters, cars, ships, military equipment. All parts of the future model are initially stored on one common sheet of plywood, from which they are easily removed and then even more easily connected to each other, turning into realistic three-dimensional toys. The finished model can be painted with tempera or acrylic paints to make it even more like a real technique.

If we are talking about prefabricated models of equipment, then the plastic models Zvezda are in the same row. Here, paints and a brush are already included, and prototypes of cars turn out to be much more realistic and detailed than from wooden parts. It has been verified: with such sets, even a serious father of the family returns to childhood with pleasure!

Plaster bas-reliefs made in the form of various cars, boats, planes will also be a fun and memorable gift. After the plaster dries and hardens, the resulting craft can be painted. These figurines can become the basis for original magnets (self-adhesive tape is included in the set) or a bright photo frame, in which the best family photo is begging.

Your child will be able to master and hone the technique of drawing with colored sand on special sets that are dedicated to creating pictures from sand. Such an amazing picture, especially with a heroic theme, will decorate dad’s desktop and will delight his eye every day, reminding him of a loving family.

What man would not appreciate a good car, especially one carefully drawn by his child! A stylish and concise image can be obtained using the engraving technique: the set includes a special tool for scratching (engraver) and a base with an outlined drawing. If you carefully remove the top layer of paint, a contrasting bottom layer will be exposed – white, silver, gold or with a holographic effect. Some sets also include a real wooden frame – a worthy frame for the resulting masterpiece!

Perhaps, a win-win option for a craft gift is a bright application made of colored paper. You can make it yourself or use a kit for creativity. Due to its lightness and small format, it can be a wonderful basis for a postcard: fold a thick sheet of paper in half and stick the application on the outside.

La Petite Academy – Daycare in Philadelphia, PA

    About

I am excited to welcome you to La Petite Academy in Exton, PA. My name is Jacqui and I am the center director. I have my associate’s degree in early childhood education and over 30 years of experience working in the child care field.

Our School Readiness Pathway prepares your child for elementary school, while encouraging discovery, fostering growth, and inspiring achievement. In every program, for infants to school-age students, teachers personalize learning with our unique educational approach. Our Prep Lab is unique to school agers to bridge the gap from missed classes this spring before a new school year begins.

Our experienced, dedicated teachers ensure school readiness using our specialized, research-based curriculum with a strong focus on math and literacy. Our teachers participate in professional development training annually to stay current in the field of early childhood education.

Our facility is kept safe and secure using a locked entry system and exterior security cameras. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, we are conducting curbside drop off and pick up to maintain the health and safety of the children and staff inside. We utilize a mobile app, called brightwheel, that enables us to provide families with real-time updates on their child throughout the day! We will also feature WatchMeGrow which offers live-streaming into the classrooms.

Please reach out if you have any questions or schedule your tour today. I can’t wait to introduce you to our school!

Children’s Literature Fair was held in Bologna

From March 6 to March 9, 2023, the 60th Children’s Literature Fair was held in Bologna . This is the first full-fledged Bologna fair since the 2020-2021 pandemic, when it was held online, and a reduced format in 2022. The slogan of the fair is “Still rocking at 60!” (“And at 60 he lights up to the fullest!”)

More than 1,400 publishers and literary agencies from over 90 countries took part in the event this year. About 350 events were held at the traditional venues – in the “Corners” of authors, illustrators and translators, as well as in the “Illustrators’ Cafe” – about 350 events were held with the participation of the most famous figures of modern children’s books.

Special attention at the fair, as always, was given to illustrations. Meetings were held with 9 world famous artists0066 Beatrice Alemagna, Alessandro Sanna, Alex Scheffler, H.C. Andersen Gold Medal winner Susie Lee and others. .

One of the main events of the program was the 57th Exhibition of Illustrators. In 2023, 4,345 artists from 91 countries entered the competition. Illustrations 79 were the winnersyoung artists and designers, two of whom are Russians – Ksenia Avramova (Barnaul) and Polya Plavinskaya (Moscow).

Greece was the guest of honor, so an extensive program of events was organized at the venues and at the large national Greek stand – meetings with writers and illustrators. In addition, the trends of the children’s book market in Italy and Greece, the most interesting publishing projects and books were discussed.

There were conferences on comics and manga, self-censorship in children’s and teen literature and rewriting classics for the current agenda, special programs dedicated to the work of Roald Dahl and Quentin Blake, discussions on literature and cinema, and even workshops on working with artificial intelligence.

On the first day of the fair, the traditional press conference of the International Council on Books for Children (IBBY) was held, at which the president of the organization Sylvia Wardell spoke and Executive Director Carolina Ballester.

Representatives of the Council spoke about current educational projects, summed up the work over the past year and announced the list of nominees for the H.K.

And, as usual, several book awards were presented in Bologna. Laureate of the Astrid Lindgren International Memorial Award (ALMA) was American teen writer Laurie Holes Anderson , who, according to the jury, “evokes emotions and never avoids even the most difficult topics.” There were also awards BolognaRagazziAward , where for several years a special emphasis has been placed on comic books for different ages, and the children’s nomination of one of the most prestigious Italian awards Premio Strega.
