Tips for Protecting Children from Environmental Threats

MADOU “Kindergarten No.

26 of Chelyabinsk”. “Angelic” Tournament

In our kindergarten there was a unique beauty contest – “Fairy Angel”. How many angels, marvelous and bright, settled in these couple of weeks on our three floors. It is almost impossible to say which of these creatures is better and which is worse, because they all have an unusually wonderful and angelic appearance.

The idea to hold such a competition belongs to the administration of the kindergarten. And, as it turned out, a lot of people liked it. The competition was not conceived as a New Year’s one, but now the whole atmosphere created by the angels in the kindergarten still smells like a New Year’s fairy tale.

Creations of human hands surprise with unearthly beauty. Probably because children’s clean hands were also involved in their birth. In almost all groups, both adults and children actively responded to the call to create their own family angel. Someone was so “fired up” with this idea that they brought the first crafts in a day or two after the announcement of the competition.

The competition was held in two stages: presentation – from 14.11 to 28.11.2016. and estimated – from 28.11. to 30.11.2016 Handed over creative work until November 28. Parents and children gladly supported our creative impulse and presented magnificent works in a variety of performance techniques for everyone to see. Here – and applications, and crafts made of fabric, and crocheting, and creations of their paper. In general, as the exhibition showed, the imagination of our children and their parents truly has no limits.

The main goal of the competition was to organize positive interaction between children, parents and caregivers in the course of creating an unforgettable angel. Unforgettable these angelic masterpieces, in fact, will be for all their creators – children, mothers, fathers, sisters and brothers, grandparents – all who put their efforts into creating this unearthly beauty. For a long time, these crafts will be remembered by both the audience and the jury, who faced the most difficult task – to determine the best where there are no worse ones.

Recall that the competition was held in several categories: “Angel of kindness”, “The most creative angel”, “Audience sympathy”, “Fairy tale angel” and “The most mysterious angel”.

Evaluation criteria in the angel tournament were:

  • Aesthetic design;
  • Originality;
  • Safety, strength and quality;
  • Use for making paper of various textures, fabrics of various textures, braid, lace, yarn, thread, buttons, beads, sequins, foil, etc.
  • The color of the product could only be white, silver or light blue;
  • The product had to have a label indicating the age group, full name of the author of the work.
  • Product size has been specified from 20 cm to 40 cm.
  • It was forbidden to use tin, needles, pins, broken glass and other piercing and cutting materials.

So, the results of our extraordinarily wonderful competition have finally been summed up. Those whom the jury decided to call the winners were determined. It turned out to be much more difficult than expected at first, so it was decided not to evaluate each craft separately, but the participation of the group as a whole. But the decision has been made, so we will announce it on our website.

Third place divided two groups with the same number of points –

the first junior group “Jellyfish” and the second junior group “Seals” 9000 3

The second place was taken by the second junior group “Dolphin”

First place – the first junior group “Ship”

And by nominations:

“Angel of kindness” – Diana M. , group “Sea Turtles”

Nomination “The Most Creative Angel” – Yaroslav Z. , group “Meduzyata”

Nomination “Fairy Angel” – Polina N. , group “Volna”

9000 2 Nomination “Spectator sympathy” – Nikolai Sh. , “Seals” group

Nomination “The most mysterious angel” – Evgeniya Sh. , “Scarlet sails” group

Congratulations to our winners!!!

And thank you all for your participation!!!

Each angel is a small masterpiece!

Anastasia Melnikova. Woman’s happiness. | Salatnik

Since dear members of the forum are very fond of the interview of the honored artist Anastasia Melnikova – I’m posting it! There are, of course, much fewer pearls here, and it is not new, but it is interesting because it was recorded just during the “ten-year amazing marriage” with Sergei Izotov. True, Anastasia denied having a husband then)))

And only she will decide whether to marry me. And while she is against it, not a single man will appear in our apartment.

Never lie to your child – this is the main principle of our relationship. I am sure that Masha is also honest with me. One evening I wanted to leave. My daughter was five years old, and she knew: her mother was either nearby or at work. That’s why she asked: – Are you on the set? — No, a handsome man was invited to a restaurant. She laid the child down, she kissed me: – Just please drive carefully. I was told that it was too early for my daughter to talk about her plans. She left and that’s it! But I do not consider it necessary to invent stories about urgent matters – I prefer to tell the truth. We made eye contact, and Masha understood: if I was invited and I agreed, then I need it. Even the daughter knows: first of all, I live in her interests. They say that by doing this I sacrifice my personal life, they condemn me for this. But I don’t hurt myself in any way. On the contrary, I get great pleasure from the fact that my whole world revolves around Mani. Today she is eighteen. How much of this inseparable, immersed in each other co-existence is left for us? On the strength of five years. Then the daughter will grow up and she will begin an independent life. If tomorrow I say: “I want to get married! I can’t wait any longer, let’s live as a big family,” Masha will agree. But I know that at this moment she will overcome herself. And I don’t want to live like this: to live and know that the child had to step over himself. Well, maybe no one wants to wait. There’s nothing you can do: that’s life.

What did you say when Masha first asked where her dad was? – She told the truth. As it was. The daughter is the only one who knows everything. Who in our history is right, who is wrong. But I can’t advise other parents to do the same. Masha took everything she heard adequately. And such parental frankness can frighten some of the children. Now everything is going well in my life. I always tried to convince my daughter that an incomplete family is by no means a disaster. Masha knows that she is surrounded by many adoring relatives. But the ideal is how it was in the family of my mom and dad. And everyone should strive for this.

Are you raising Masha in the same spirit as you? – My brothers and I were never taught how to hold a spoon and fork, how to sit, how to talk. The main thing was the education of feelings. Childhood friends confess: “We remember how a huge basket of sweets was put up in your house during the holidays. But the three of you were such well-behaved children, you never ran up to her until the guests tasted the treat. Parents gave us the main thing: the understanding that a person does not live for himself. They did not teach, they did not reprimand. They just acted in such a way that they became the best for all children in everything.

Acting is a difficult and dependent profession. But I, for one, am happy with it. And I am grateful to my parents for supporting me when I decided to enter the theater institute. Although the rest of the relatives were categorically against it and even scolded my mother and father for “connivance”, they did not take my desire seriously.

Daddy Rurik Alexandrovich died at the age of sixty-nine in one second. An absolutely healthy man suddenly fell, and his heart stopped. I am convinced that dad just handed it out to people. He was a surgical oncologist, a brilliant doctor. He has been gone for twenty-six years. Just recently, I met a woman whose husband has been living for thirty-seven years after his daddy had an operation. Mom Elena Olegovna, also an operating surgeon, a gynecologist, could make a serious scientific career. But she set priorities in such a way that the family was always in the first place. She put science aside for years. But we, the children, and our dad were constantly surrounded by attention. Mom did everything. In the mornings, she always prepared breakfast for the family, and for everyone – exactly what he loved. Dad left for work at ten in the morning. Mom started just an hour late. Their clinics were nearby in the village of Pesochny, where we have a whole cancer town. I will never forget how I once went to work with my mother: I had to pass some tests. Winter is on the street. We get into the car, dad pulls away, and only then mom exhales: “Fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuus! Seems like it did.” This is about the fact that this time she miraculously redid all the household chores, fed her husband and children and is not late for work. And then mom… took out parts of her costume from her bag and started putting them on right in the car. There just wasn’t enough time in the morning! She combed her hair, tinted it already in the clinic. Our parents taught us by example. On my mother’s bedside table there were always the “Law of God” and the Bible. And we were baptized not when it became fashionable, but immediately after birth. In the USSR, the church was banned: parents’ colleagues did not know about christening. Otherwise, dad would have been fired from work with a bang. He sincerely believed in God, wore a cross. But at the same time he joined the party. And by the way, when everyone at some point renounced the party, he remained in its ranks to the end.

Did you baptize Masha? – Of course. In the church on Konyushennaya Square. My daughter always goes to communion with me. Sunday is the only day when she can sleep longer, but her daughter dedicates it to God. Often asks: “Mom, wake me up tomorrow, please. I have to go to the temple to confess.” She began reading the adult Bible at the age of seven, one chapter a day. If she didn’t understand something, she wrote to her spiritual mentor, Father Vladimir. They still communicate online. He lives far away, in the Makaryevsky Monastery, so we rarely see each other. The goddaughters are my younger brother Sasha and Svetlana Karmalita, the widow of Alexei German. Our family is united with the Germans not even by friendship, but by kinship. Uncle Lesha and I are the godparents of my niece Sasha. And many years ago, when the wonderful director Alexei German Jr. was born, my dad became his godfather. We lived in the same house, grew up together with Leshenka … I can’t survive the departure of Uncle Lesha. He was part of the family. They say that time will pass and it will become easier, there are no irreplaceable people. But dad, who has not been with us for a long time, is irreplaceable for me. Like Uncle Lesha.

I made arrangements for the burial of Alexei Yuryevich, that in the monasteries they would pray every day for the repose of his soul. Herman was an exceptional figure in the cinema world. Left school behind. He did not exist for a single day on the set without students. Most directors do not do this – they are afraid that talented young people will push them back. And Herman knew for sure: his niche would remain with him. Regardless of whether the film will lie on the shelf for twenty years or not, whether contemporaries will appreciate the picture. Aleksey Yuryevich passed on not only his soul and craft to a talented student: in the difficult nineties, he was looking for money for his debut films. Few lived like this. Alexei Balabanov and Irina Evteeva, directors recognized at world festivals, got the opportunity to make films thanks to Uncle Lesha. He found money, argued, shouted, made enemies. And in our profession, support is very important. It’s not worth talking about how big he was in the cinema. When at the Cannes Film Festival the audience did not accept the film “Khrustalev, the car!”, Leading film critics of France apologized to Alexei Yuryevich. Many of them called the film the greatest work of art. I am grateful to fate for giving me a meeting with Uncle Lesha and Aunt Sveta. And parents always treated them with warmth and tenderness. Dad married only at forty-one years old and spent his youth rather stormy. He was honest with his ladies, including married ones, he did not promise anything. But all his life he accompanied almost all the children from them. Helped everyone. There is a family legend that after the death of my grandmother, my mother was sorting through photographs and suddenly saw me … sixteen years old. Given that I was barely nine then, this girl was very similar to me – like an older sister. “I look at the photo, the last name on the back, I begin to compare the facts and I understand everything . ..” my mother said, laughing. “That’s why this girl immediately entered the university. That’s why she was visiting Rurik’s mother. Grandmother knew a lot of things, but did not reveal family secrets. And we could only guess what really happened. Parents taught me to be tolerant and kind. Regardless of whether they are blood relatives or not, other people’s children or their own. After all, even strangers may need your help. Today I am not only an actress, but also a member of the Legislative Assembly of St. Petersburg. They come to me with their troubles. Recently, there are especially many of those who were deceived by taking away an apartment. They sit and cry: “We are homeless, we have nothing to eat,” and they immediately throw accusations against me, “and you live in mansions on the Field of Mars …” I understand that this is unfair and the person says this out of desperation. And I still cry at home. Masha asks: “Mom, give up this job, don’t go to the next term.” But it is important for me to feel that at least someone can help.

I am convinced that if a person is in need, you should not think about your own interests, but do something for him. I remember sports fans yelling under our windows for days on end. And in the evenings, when they fell silent, music began to rattle in the restaurant in the park. Neighbors have small children, a blockade survivor lives nearby. At some point, I could not stand it, I went to this restaurant: “I also love Whitney Houston and the song from the movie“ The Bodyguard ”. However, people need to rest sometimes.” I was promised that there would be no more loud music. But they deceived: an hour later, the decibels went off scale again. She called: What happened? You howl again! – It’s the owners of the restaurant walking around. Nastya, I’m sorry, there’s nothing we can do. I say to my daughter: – Man, I’m going there. It was already half past two at night, and Masha tried to protest: “I’m afraid for you.” But I explained that not everyone in our house has double-glazed windows, and without them, life under such accompaniment is unbearable. Plus, tomorrow is a work day. It was really incredibly scary to talk, but the music was turned off. I hope Masha remembered this story. Following my parents, I never dictate to my daughter how she should act. I try to be a good example for her.

Did you yourself grow up as an obedient child? – Mom allowed me a lot. Try on her shoes, try on makeup. But once I was whipped, even in kindergarten age. In the 1970s, French perfumes and cosmetics were in short supply. Mom always let me play at her dressing table, there were an incredible number of interesting drawers. Once I cooked porridge for dolls from what I found there. When my mother asked: – Where are my powder and perfume? – honestly answered: – I don’t know, – because I had no idea what the name of what I used for culinary purposes was. “Porridge” was found in the dolls’ locker, and I was torn out – for having deceived. This case is still the subject of our controversy. Mom thinks: I was aware of what I was making “lunch”, I’m sure not. Mommy always adjusted to our schedule, but if she made any decision, it was not negotiable. Once she said that we were going somewhere, it means that everyone was going. Still decides how I dress, comb my hair. In this sense, Masha is given complete freedom. There was a case, she dressed up very brightly: a blue-red-white plaid shirt, huge boots on her legs, and a light scarf around her neck. Wow! It was as if a man ran past a rope on which clothes were drying, grabbed what turned up under his arm, and put it on. Masha asked: “Mommy, how are you?” – Kitty, do you like it? This is the main thing. My daughter said that she feels fashionable and stylish. And went to school in a new outfit. She came back almost crying: – Why didn’t you warn me that I looked like a crocodile? I answered: – You wanted to leave the house as a crocodile and were completely delighted with yourself. If I told you that you look terrible, you would cry. I decided that my mother did not understand you, and would have gone to school in a disgusting mood. If you put pressure on Masha, she will obey unconditionally. But he will worry. And I don’t want the child to suffer for my fleeting convenience. For example, it would be easy and convenient for me to send her to the country for the whole summer. I know that under the supervision of her adored grandmother and other relatives, she will be well-groomed, watered and fed. She has her favorite books there, a trampoline, a swimming pool, a dog, a horse, a river, a lake. But last year, Masha did not want to stay at the dacha for the whole summer. She rushed to a friend outside the city – it’s quiet, calm and easy. There’s nothing to be done: the girl grows up.

Are you becoming wiser? In general, did the birth of a child change you? – I always say that Masha was endured and given birth by her mother – she helped so much. But with the birth of my daughter, I really gained wisdom and I felt that I needed my own decisions, I could not continue to remain infantile. I felt a certain dissonance between the life I had always led and today. I plow like a man, earn money, renovate an apartment. And for my mother, I continue to be a little girl. It’s difficult. I used to think that my mother was always right. And only closer to forty did I believe that I had the right to my own opinion. I became independent for the sake of the child. Masha must feel strength in me.

Mom didn’t accept it right away? – Still corrects something, advises. And this is very important to me. I myself often ask her opinion. We have one nature of conflicts: love for each other. I, unlike my mother, am afraid to advise others. I see, for example, that a brother makes a mistake, but I don’t stop it – this is his life. I live by the principle: do not speak if you are not asked. And in a difficult moment, fly up and turn your shoulder. And I teach Masha the same thing: “We all have the right to make mistakes. You just need to realize what you are wrong in, ask God for forgiveness and move on.

Has Masha ever had to be punished? – Fortunately, there is nothing to punish her for. I have an angel child. I even try not to raise my voice to my daughter: she is very vulnerable. It is necessary to look strictly, immediately begins to worry. Once Masha answered me sharply: stress and heavy workloads at school had an effect. For the first time, the child growled: “I don’t want to-u-u-u-u!” I got lost. She didn’t say a word, counted to ten in her head, and went into the bedroom. And she just cried there. Children just don’t act up like that, if this happens, you need to look for the reason. On reflection, I realized that the baby just drove. And then the door swings open, Manya flies in: “Mom! Darling, I’m sorry, I offended you so much!

I pray that she will get married and have children. So that everything would work out for her, like my mother, both grandmothers, great-grandmothers: for them there was only one man for whom they lived. But if Masha meets the wrong person, I won’t stop her. If they get divorced, I will console without any “I told you!” But my daughter will definitely not choose who she needs, and not just anyone. I am convinced that it is better to be alone than to endure an unworthy person next to you. Children from her class constantly come to our house. Among them are many educated intelligent boys. From families that hold the same views as ours. I believe that Manya will never go over boyfriends, guided by their financial situation. She is a sensitive spiritual child, they scold me that my daughter grows up in a special world, cannot adapt to life, but once in a creative camp she existed with all the children in the same conditions. And she was immensely happy. My daughter inherited this ability from me – I also always knew how to feel happy everywhere. I lived with the feeling: if you have money, it’s good, if you don’t, we’ll survive. And took out the sewing machine. No one suspected that I knew how to sew, they whispered: “Oh, she has a dress from Cardin.” And Masha loves needlework, she made her first stitches at the age of two. Dad’s salary was good, sometimes bad. But no one stopped bleaching linens and tablecloths. There were no washing machines yet, and we always had a full bath. To bathe the children, my mother would put the laundry in basins, “rinse” us, and return to the laundry. I have inherited a love of cleanliness. I remember how in the first year of the institute we went to the collective farm, where we lived in barracks. But I didn’t stay in the mud for a minute! Of all the guys, only I knew how to maintain order and create coziness. After collecting potatoes, I returned, quickly boiled water on the stove, washed the floors and changed into clean clothes. I wore a white tracksuit and white socks. Fundamentally! Like the napkins on the bedside stool. The rest of the classmates could live and look like piglets. Of the products we had only potatoes and stew, but I managed to invent a lot of delicious dishes. When I bought the apartment where we live today, all the furniture consisted of a plastic table with chairs. Only the bathroom, Masha’s bedroom and the library were finished, where the white piano, which her mother had presented, stood alone. I slept on the floor. Gradually they bought everything, paid off their debts. But then… my oxygen was cut off. It is impossible to forget a terrible year and a half, when everything went out of life: position, money, friends. And everything possible was done so that I was not in this profession. But this is too hard to remember, and I will not go into details. The main thing is that the family remained nearby. Father. And, of course, Mana. I honestly told her then:

– Baby, we won’t be able to go to Europe this year. We will not see new cities, we will not visit museums. Masha answered with a laugh: – What a poor, unfortunate person I am, all the holidays I will have to go to the Hermitage and the Russian Museum! And also, perhaps, they will drive you to the Menshikov Palace! When a child reacts like this, the soul becomes easy. I recently took out a mortgage and bought an apartment for Masha. When she gets married, perhaps her daughter will have a choice: if she wants to, she will stay with us, or if she doesn’t, she will move to a neighboring house. I will do everything so that the child does not need anything. And if Manya meets a boy who goes to study further until he gets on his feet, I will support him. Of course, when I see that he can become a professional in his field. I will not feed the loafer.

How does Masha go through the difficulties of adolescence? – She grows up slowly, but I’m not worried: everything is individual. I see what is being done with Manina’s peers, how they swear, smoke, taste booze, and all this is a secret from their parents. It’s not like that with us – everything is allowed for our daughter. Would you like to try champagne? Please. But only at home, at the table. Masha, by the way, took a sip, and she did not like it. Until now, he asks for a “morsik”. Now it is difficult for her, sometimes she cries at night: the head is still absolutely childish, but the body is already a woman, the body is changing. The child cannot understand what is happening. He asks: “Why don’t the boys want to be friends with me? They invite me on dates and get offended when I refuse. But I like to just chat!” The boys already have love in their heads, but it is not ready yet. I think that my girl will remain a child for a long time. I’m not a hypocrite. But what is allowed for a boy is forbidden for a girl. I myself was brought up like that and I expect the same behavior from Masha. I am far from the ideas of feminism. Recently I was invited to the conference “Women of the World”. I go on stage, I say: “Ladies, let’s stop! Protect unfortunate men! Do you understand that we completely crushed them? A single father raising three children is not even entitled to maternity capital. Is it fair? At first there was dead silence. Then I was escorted with displeasure and no longer called.

Do you talk to your daughter about “adult” topics? – She was seven years old, we went to the pharmacy together, Manya saw unfamiliar objects in the window. She asked what it was. For a minute and a half, I thought about how to answer. To compose a beautiful legend – it seems to be too early for a child to think about such things? I decided to tell the truth. How I laughed when Masha exclaimed: “Oh, that’s how it is! The boys in the class were talking, but so stupidly that I didn’t understand anything.” I crossed myself: I wish I looked good, start talking nonsense when the child has already been enlightened!

She used to be very complex about her appearance: she grew plump. We went to a nutritionist, passed the necessary tests. It turned out that both had twelve extra pounds. And we took care of ourselves together. Now we never cook potatoes for a side dish, we buy only low-fat dairy products. We don’t eat bread. And we make pancakes from oat bran. Masha takes good care of herself: she swims a lot, does gymnastics. Bought a treadmill: she works on it when she teaches lessons. The result is there. This year, on Valentine’s Day, we were almost demolished the door: all the familiar boys were in a hurry to congratulate. They gave us bouquets and toys. We joked that because of such an influx of visitors, the riot police had to be called in to restore order. Masha was happy: the attention pleased her.

Do you remember your first love? – I was two and a half years old. Grandmother took me for a walk on the embankment. Suddenly, cadets of the Military Medical Academy meet us. Sailors in uniform, one more beautiful than the other. I murmured “uncles” and froze as if rooted to the spot. Until the whole system passed, it was not possible to budge. When they were sent to kindergarten, loves went in succession. Seryozha, Vanya, Petya … And with each one seriously, each time in the confidence that we will get married. But then Lesha came to the group, I thought: “Oh, and Lesha is better!” And everything started all over again. But seriously, all my life I prayed to God not to fall in love with someone who does not need it. And fortunately for me, the strong feelings that I experienced in my youth were mutual. Has Masha already had to face disappointment in love? – Yes. I immediately noticed that something was wrong with the child. Although Manya shared her grief not immediately. I stepped back, went the other way, then, as if jokingly, started a theoretical conversation about romance. So gradually everything became clear. After Masha told, tears welled up in her eyes. And I kept saying that absolutely everyone goes through such a feeling and, unfortunately, it often fails.

During adolescence, a child goes through a difficult period. It is not for nothing that there has been a lot of talk lately about the increased suicide rate among teenagers… – It doesn’t seem to me that there are more of them than in the Soviet years. In my youth, I heard dozens of stories with a terrible ending that happened to peers. Just then this problem was hushed up, but today it is being discussed. In no case do I want to blame the parents for everything: they are faced with the most terrible grief. But a child who is doing well will never think about leaving. Perhaps his family missed something, and the teenager could not share his problems. I’m “flying” with employment. She is heavily loaded with languages, in a theater studio, a gym, a swimming pool, a music school. And my daughter rides on our horse Cinderella. There is simply no time left for any nonsense. These are all huge loads. Of course, I’m worried about my daughter. But I don’t control Masha’s communication in any way, I don’t get into correspondence. I think that reading other people’s letters is unacceptable. I don’t need to read Mani’s messages to understand that something is wrong with her. It is enough to look into the eyes, to feel the mood. If parents do not see what is happening with their child, they simply do not want it: it is more convenient. And they gave birth to a child only in order to have someone to give a glass of water in old age. I don’t need this glass! Bring – it turns out, I did everything right. But no … well, I’ll blame myself: it means I made a mistake somewhere, I’ll have to take the water myself.

How does Masha build relationships with men who are in the house? – I will never bring a boyfriend or admirer into the house, only a lawful husband. That’s how I was brought up. I bear this surname and cannot disgrace it. Sometimes friends come. Friends-actors, partners in the theater stage and cinema often come to us. At the same time, I have my own relationship with Lesha Nilov, Seryozha Selin, Seryozha Koshonin and Andrei Fedortsov, and my daughter has her own. Masha is very friendly with Selin’s wife Anya. She is very young and closer to her age. She loves Sasha Kuznetsova, the daughter of Yuri Alexandrovich, Varenka Fedortsova. The girls talk like sisters. Sometimes my colleagues and I rehearse at our home. And I know that in order for men to work well, they need to be fed. Borscht, cutlets, pies, broth are put on the table. One day I didn’t have time to cook dinner. She flew into the apartment and saw that Masha had already done everything herself. She decided to arrange a French dinner: she poured onion soup from a tureen into plates, took French meat out of the oven. And an airy dessert was also expected. The guests ate and asked for more. The next day, an Italian dinner awaited them: spaghetti carbonara and panna cotta. My daughter and I have a marvelous union: I represent the “domostroevskaya” kitchen, she is innovative. Moreover, our cookbooks differ significantly from each other. In my opinion, it’s immediately clear where the recipes for cutlets are, where the dough is: the pages are stained with minced meat, flour, eggs. The child brings a skirt rack into the kitchen, attaches an open book to it, and places it at eye level. Cooks without touching the pages with your hands. I’m spinning my cutlets while my cat makes a stuffed apple with two kinds of meat and a rice pad in almond butter. I think: “Nastya, relax with your cutlets! Maybe they are delicious, but who needs them after such a miracle? I am learning cooking from Masha, she is from me, and it’s great. The next visit of my colleagues was crowned with an English dinner with stuffed eggplants. Masha is already acting in films, she is able to hold the audience. She realized this when she performed in front of an audience of ten thousand on Teacher’s Day. Then I had an overlay: in one evening I had to attend two government events at once, which could not be refused. One started at six in the evening at the Mariinsky Theatre, the other at seven at the Ice Palace. Mani rescued me! Imagine, they announce: “Honored artist, la-la-la, Anastasia Melnikova …” My daughter comes on stage and, with all her childish spontaneity, declares: “Mom is delayed at her previous job, so for now I will lead the concert.” Ten thousand people fell silent, and Masha read touching verses: “Do not dare to offend teachers, they put their whole soul, heart into us …” The women in the hall burst into tears. I arrived when Manya was talking on stage with the teachers invited to the holiday. The producer immediately ran up: he asked to hold a concert dedicated to the Ninth of May, together with his daughter. “Sorry, it was an exclusive,” we replied. I think it’s too early for her to dive into the profession. But one way or another, Masha saves me not only at home, but also on stage. There was another case when she closed the concert when I had to run away to shoot.

Is she a fashionista? — I have always tried to instill in my daughter a love for beautiful things. When Masha was just born, everyone asked what to give. I asked for money for the christening. I remember, five hundred dollars accumulated. They advised me to buy Finnish winter overalls. But I bought mink skins with this money, from which I sewed an envelope, instead of a zipper it had buttons made of good stones. My daughter was lying in the stroller like a doll, like a little furry mammoth. When she walked with her legs, she presented the first mink coat, in which Manya walked for up to three years. Then this mink was inherited for a long time: to the children of friends and acquaintances. But the older Masha, the more modest she becomes. Sometimes they ask: what is more important for you – women’s happiness or a career? I answer that the main thing for me is my daughter. But I confess that there is a dream – a complete family.

Certifications: Illinois ECE Credential Level 2

I have been in the early childhood field since 2002. It is fascinating to me to watch children’s minds work. Children pick up so much knowledge during the day and as educators it is our job to create an environment that enhances these experiences. It is my goal as the director to facilitate an environment that is warm, loving, and educational for all children who attend LPA!

Meet Our Staff

Leslie Guinto, Assistant Director

Certifications: Illinois ECE Level 4 Credential

I have been in early childhood since 2009 and at LPA since 2016, working with all ages of children. I love watching children learn and grow and it amazes me how much they learn from one another. I have two sons and a daughter that I love watching learn and grow, too. I want LPA to be a place that all children know that they are loved and I want them to enjoy coming to LPA to learn and play.

AMERICA’S MOST ACCREDITED

We’re so proud!

Nationally only 10% of daycares are accredited – nearly 100% of our learning centers are. That’s a big difference,
and that means KinderCare kids are getting the very best. Here’s why.

SCHOOL-READY

What Learning Looks Like

Our talented early-childhood teachers set kids down the path toward becoming lifelong learners in a positive, safe, and nurturing environment.

Devonshire KinderCare Programs

Infant Programs (6 weeks-1 year)

Leaving your baby in someone else’s care is a big step. Everyone at our
centers—most importantly, our naturally gifted infant teachers—will work with
you to make sure the transition goes smoothly. When you step into our infant
classroom, you’ll see how much we want your infant to feel safe, loved, and
ready to explore their world.

Toddler Programs (1-2 Years)

Everything in our toddler classroom is designed for little explorers. That’s
because a lot is going on at this age. When your child is wandering all over the
place, that means they’re learning and discovering new things every day. We’ll
help them explore their interests (and find new ones!) as they play and learn.

Discovery Preschool Programs (2-3 Years)

This age is filled with so much wonder and curiosity. That’s why we offer a ton
of books and toys and bring artwork down to kids eye level. Children in
discovery preschool also begin to learn how we all work together in a
classroom. Simple math and science, pretend play, and group play help them
get used to a more structured school setting.

Preschool Programs (3-4 Years)

This age is all about expression, when kids really start to form their own ideas
about what they want to play and how they want to create. Every day in our
preschool classroom, your child will explore science experiments, create
artwork, and play pretend—all the skills needed for their big next step:
kindergarten!

Prekindergarten Programs (4-5 Years)

When you walk into one of our pre-K classrooms, you’ll see artwork and
writing displayed around the room. Labels are everywhere to help kids connect
letters with words. You’ll also see pictures on the walls that reflect the families
in our community. Your child will also deepen their knowledge in language,
math, science, Spanish, and social skills.

Kindergarten Programs (5-6 Years)

Welcome to kindergarten: the gateway to grade school and everything that
comes next! Offered in select centers, our kindergarten programs have small
class sizes and curriculums that mix learning and fun. The basic building
blocks of reading, writing, math, and science are key in kindergarten, so we
make sure they get lots of practice in all of these areas.

Before- and After-School Programs (5-12 Years)

You can count on us to provide reliable care for your school-ager while you’re
at work, with safe transportation from our center to your child’s school and
back! Whether your child wants to start a drama club, build a volcano, or
create a comic book, they will have a place to follow their dreams. Your child
will start and end the day with a whole lot of fun!

School Break Programs (preschool, prekindergarten, and school-age)

Winter break, spring break, summer break—when school’s out (but you still need to work), you
can count on KinderCare to provide a safe and supportive learning environment that’s focused
on fun. We welcome children ages 5-12 during school break times and make sure they have a
sensational, screen-free experience they won’t forget.

Participating Child Care Aware Center

KinderCare partners with Child Care Aware® of America to offer fee assistance for
Active Duty military families and flexible support to fit their needs when care at a Child
Development Center on the installation is not available.

Learning Adventures – Enrichment Program

Cooking Academy™ (3-12 Years)

In Cooking Academy, kids learn new recipes from cultures around the world and
develop a healthy relationship with food. They’ll whip up everything from Southwest
rainbow lettuce wraps to pumpkin muffins, building their skills in STEM, communication,
and more along the way. And yes—little chefs get to eat their culinary creations!

Music Explorers™ (2-4 Years)

KinderCare families are already giving a standing ovation to our newest Learning
Adventures program: Music Explorers! Kids will learn to sing, move, listen, play
instruments, and even create their own tunes. Our original curriculum blends math,
science, social studies, literacy, and mindfulness (think yoga!) for a uniquely KinderCare
way of learning the foundations of music.

Phonics Adventures® (2-4 Years)

Learning how to read is a whole lot of fun at KinderCare! We help kids grow to love
books and words (and get ready for kindergarten) in our Phonics Adventures program.
From discovering the basics of vowels to practicing poetry, kids learn all about letters
and sounds in small-group lessons made just for their age group. (Bonus: Kids who
attend our phonics program are more prepared than their peers for school—and we
have the data to prove it.)

Spanish

Spanish Adventures provides young learners with a foundation for later success with
the Spanish language. Music, games, children’s Spanish literature, and other tools give
children multiple opportunities to hear, practice, and see Spanish language to develop
vocabulary and conversation skills. Curriculum includes lessons on greetings, numbers,
colors, animals, family, body parts, and pets, as well as how to engage conversationally
during common scenarios at home, a restaurant, or at the zoo.

STEM Innovators (3-8 Years)

You’ve probably heard a lot about how important STEM education is for your child, but
what does that really mean? Our STEM Innovators program takes kids’ natural ability to
make sense of the world and applies it to robotics, chemistry, coding, geology, and
more. While your child experiments, they’ll discover how to use technology to do
amazing things!

Yoga and Baby Sign Language

Our Teachers

We’re the only company in early childhood education to select teachers based on natural talent. Being a great educator isn’t enough though.
KinderCare teachers are also amazing listeners, nurturers, boo-boo fixers, and smile-makers. Put more simply,
we love our teachers and your child will, too.

    Jennie H. – KinderCare Parent
  • The best decision I ever made was to have my children at KinderCare. The education they received gave them a great success at school

    Jane S. – KinderCare Parent
  • The level of care and education is superior. The respect of diversity of culture is evident, the Phonics program is a great opportunity to prepare the children for success

    Rebecca W. – KinderCare Parent
  • My son has been with KinderCare since he was seven weeks old. Being a military family with a hectic schedule, it is a comfort to know that my child is in a caring, nurturing, and educational environment. I have been told countless times by numerous people that my son who is now 3 ½ years old, has excellent social skills, is very outgoing, and is very confident. I can give KC a lot of credit for that. His teachers are constantly working on his educational development and introducing new concepts. My husband and I are constantly amazed at the new ideas and vocabulary words that he brings home and uses in the right context. I can honestly say that KinderCare staff care very much about the children in their program and their well being. In my opinion KC is the best early child care and development program in Central Illinois.

You’ve tried. But despite your best efforts, you simply can’t find a job. Don’t despair. Use these tips to find a job that you love.

By Jennifer Parris

Sometimes when you’re in the midst of a job search and you’ve been giving it your all, despite your best efforts, you just can’t find a job.

It can be disheartening not to see results from all your hard work, but don’t despair. By following a few simple tips when you can’t find a job, you can turn your job search into a success!

Can’t Find a Job? Consider These 13 Tips

1. Take a Break

You don’t need to quit your job search entirely, or even take a months-long hiatus, in order to give yourself a break from job searching. Even taking just a day off every now and then can recharge your batteries so you’ll feel ready to jump back in, refreshed and ready to go.

It’s OK to take some time off from your job search once in a while. Allow yourself a day or a few days off and spend that time doing something that energizes you and makes you happy, and reflect on what’s going well in your search, says FlexJobs Career Coach Toni Frana. Afterwards, you’ll find you’ll be able to get back to your job search with a renewed sense of energy and purpose.

2. Go Where the Jobs Are

Some people will move to a different city, state, or country to find a job in their field. But if you’re looking for a remote job, your location may not be a significant factor. It does, however, help to target your search to the fields and jobs that are most compatible with remote work. Do a bit of research on who commonly hires in your field to help speed along your search, suggests Frana.

3. Spruce up Your Online Presence

Studies have shown that the majority of hiring managers will look at a person’s online presence even before reaching out to them for a job interview. How do your social media profiles look? Are they a mishmash of (public) family photos and some political point-of-view posts? One of the most important aspects of your job search is to ensure that your online presence is up to date and professional.

Take the time to clean up your profiles, or create some new ones that show you in a professional light, and keep them current so potential bosses can see that you’re active on social media…for all the right reasons.

4. Get Skilled or Schooled—or Both

If you’re finding that you aren’t entirely qualified for the positions you’ve been applying to, that could be one reason you can’t find a job. Employers often won’t hire someone who doesn’t have the majority of the skills, education, or job experience necessary for the position. If you need to boost your skill set to be more in line with what companies are looking for, consider going back to school or finding online resources to gain the skills you need.

5. Change Your Mindset

It’s easy to feel defeated if you’ve been job searching for a long time and not getting any responses. If this is the case, a change in perspective may be all you need to turn the corner and find some success. Just like taking a break from your job search is important, so is having the right mindset. It is hard to be a job seeker, applying for many jobs and possibly not hearing back from employers, says Frana.

Instead of going into each new job search with trepidation, try to stay positive and see every application as a chance to fine-tune and perfect your process.

Work to focus on the progress you are making with each application—honing your search tactics, getting efficient with your application process, and understanding what keywords to use for an ATS are all important tools to use as you go through your search, explains Frana. Each time you apply for a job, you are improving your process, and that’s great progress to landing a job. Celebrate those small steps!

6. Try a Temporary Job

If you’ve been job searching for a while and still haven’t landed the perfect position, you may want to consider taking on a temporary job. Temp jobs are an excellent way to get your foot in the door at a company, learn some new skills, and build your professional network. And you never know, some temp workers, even those who are seasonal, are offered permanent positions once their original assignment ends.

7. Build Your Network

Especially if you’re introverted, it can feel hard to put yourself out there to grow your network. But networking is one of the best ways to meet new people and generate leads that can help with your job search. While most in-person networking events are on hold during the pandemic, there are many online networking events you can do from the comfort of your home office that can yield some great results.

8. Review Your Resume

If you’ve been looking in your field and are qualified for the positions you’re applying for but still can’t find a job, resume mistakes and typos may be to blame. When you’ve read (and reread) your resume so often, it’s more likely you’ll miss some significant issues.

It’s always a great idea to have someone else review your resume before you submit it. A spouse, family member, friend, or resume review expert can look at your document with a fresh set of eyes and let you know if there are any glaring mistakes to correct before applying for a job. If that’s not an option, try changing the resume font, font size, and font color and then rereading your resume so it looks different to you. Then, when you are satisfied, change it back to the right font before applying, offers Frana.

9. Customize Your Application

When you’re applying to multiple positions over the course of a few days, weeks, or months, it can be tempting to use the same resume and cover letter over and over again with just a few small tweaks here and there. However, employers are looking for applicants who are the perfect fit, so taking the time to customize your resume and cover letter to each job will help you stand out from the crowd.

Keep in mind that one reason you can’t find a job may be because the applicant tracking system (ATS) isn’t picking up your information based on its keyword searches. Customizing your resume and cover letter to include relevant keywords that the ATS has been programmed to look for can give you a leg up in the application process.

10. Consider Other Industries

It might not be exactly what you want initially, but if you’ve tried to find a job in one industry and aren’t having any luck, it might be time to look at jobs in other fields. You may discover you enjoy a new career field much more than you thought you would, and you’d be surprised how many of your skills are transferable from one field to another. Once you’ve made the switch, you may even find that a career change is an exciting and transformational time in your professional life!

11. Look for Other Types of Flexible Work Arrangements

You might have your heart set on working from home full-time with flexible hours, but that may not be in the cards…for now. Thankfully, there are many types of flexible jobs under the big banner of work flexibility. Expand your search to part-time jobs, freelance or contract gigs, flexible schedules, alternative schedules, partial remote work, or any combination of those. Being open to other types of flexibility can lead you to job openings you may not have found if you were only searching for full-time, 100% remote jobs.

12. Practice Your Interviewing Skills

If you’ve made it to the interview stage in the application process, congratulations! But if those interviews aren’t leading to any job offers, it may be time to upgrade your interviewing skills. You can practice with friends, family, or even fellow job seekers who might be able to offer tips on what you’re doing right and where you might need some improvement.

If you have a career mentor or a former boss who you’re friendly with, ask if they can do a mock interview with you, too. If not, you may want to consider online career coaching as an option to get constructive and actionable feedback. With most interviews happening online these days, it’s also helpful to prepare for the remote interview process to set yourself up for success.

13. Pinpoint the Problem

If you can’t find a job, it’s helpful to take some time to examine why (and where) you may be struggling. What part of the job search process is giving you the most trouble? Is it that you can’t find jobs that you want to apply to? Or do you not hear back from employers after submitting your application? Are you getting to the interview stage and then getting passed over for positions? Understanding why you can’t find a job is an essential path toward correcting your course and landing your dream position!

For example, if you consistently struggle to find quality jobs in your industry, it might be that you’re looking in the wrong places. Big-box job search sites offer lots of positions, but the vast majority may not apply to you, your qualifications, or your flexible work needs. If you’re looking for a work-from-home job, a niche site (like FlexJobs) will help you find positions that are more targeted to your goals.

If you’re not getting invited to interview, consider if your application is the best it can be. Make sure that your resume has a modern format and contains relevant work experience to the job you’re applying to. If you’re interviewing with hiring managers and not landing the job, are your interviewing skills rusty, or are you unsure of how to sell yourself during an interview? Practice can help you work out the kinks so that you can get hired for the job you want.

Still Looking for a Job? FlexJobs Can Help

Job searching can be challenging, and when you can’t find a job, it can feel like you’re stuck in career limbo waiting for the right opportunity to come along. Focusing on improving your job search process, expanding your search, and taking breaks when you need can lead you straight to career success.

How to Get a Job Quickly: 20 Tips to Get Hired Fast

This article with advice on how to get a job quickly was originally published in January 2017. All relevant statistics, tips, and copy have been updated as of July 2021.

Getting a job quickly seems like a formidable task, especially given that time-to-hire can take as long as four weeks. Long hiring processes can leave many job seekers less than optimistic when looking for a new career. If you’re looking to make a move soon, you may wonder if there’s anything you can do to speed up the lengthy process. There certainly is, so we’ve compiled a list of 20 tips you can leverage to get a job fast.

From refining your resume to the interview follow-up, these strategies will help you find the job you want and get hired quickly. See for yourself:

1. Get specific with your job search.

Your time is valuable, even more so when your goal is to get a job quickly. Don’t waste it by filling out a bunch of applications for positions you are only semi-interested in. Instead, take the time to research positions you would really enjoy, and then use your time wisely to find and apply for positions that match what you’re looking for. Most job boards and recruiting sites allow you to make specific searches based on your criteria, including the name of the position, salary, qualifications, and other requirements.

Write out a few keywords that fit job duties and your prior work experience so you can use each sites’ search functionality efficiently and to your advantage. These targeted searches also allow you to eliminate jobs that don’t meet your requirements when it comes to location, experience level, and other non-negotiable standards. The results will bring you to available positions much more closely aligned with your needs. Once you’ve found jobs that match, filling out applications will be much less tedious than when you’re applying for positions that are not a good fit.

2. Don’t settle for an imperfect fit.

Don’t compromise on what you value most when it comes to where you want to work. A job posting may sound like a great fit for your skills, but the company culture needs to be a fit for you, too. Research employer brands online, read employee reviews and discuss culture fit in phone screens to be sure that both the positions and the companies you consider fit your work values and needs.

Before starting your research, try compiling a list of what makes a company a great fit for you: its mission, vision, and values; location or remote work options; company-hosted events; a collaborative environment; and any other important traits.

Finding a new job can be a long process —so don’t give up too soon! Try out these 20 tried-and-true tips from @ClearCompany on how to get #hired quickly:

3. Don’t quit your search too quickly.

You’ve done your research and submitted your application, resume, and cover letter, but now what? Keep your eyes open for other potential employers and opportunities as they become available — it’s better to apply for several positions that interest you, rather than counting on one or two applications turning into job offers.

If a company sends a rejection letter, take this opportunity to ask them what you could have done differently to be considered, and use any feedback to improve future applications and interviews.

4. Write tailored cover letters.

Cover letters are not a thing of the past: 87% of hiring professionals said they read cover letters. Even more convincingly, tailored cover letters increased interviews by 51% and callback rates by 31%. It’s best practice to change the cover letter for each position you apply for, and that statistic proves that the effort pays off.

Give a brief summary of your qualifications, provide concrete examples of your successes, and talk about how your expertise will help the company thrive. Hiring managers want to know what sets you apart from other applicants, so use your cover letter to highlight how your unique skill set makes you a good fit.

5. Make your resume job-specific.

Just like your cover letter, each resume you submit should focus on that particular job. Be sure to highlight your skills and experience that are most beneficial to that position, especially those that are listed in the job description itself.

Without mentioning your qualifications, your resume might be missed by an applicant tracking system or the hiring manager, and you could be disqualified for the job before a person sees your application. Leave out skills and experience that are not relevant to the position you’re applying for so you have room for what does.

6. Keep it simple and relevant.

If you have pages and pages of experience, is it necessary to list it all? Not quite. When it comes to stating your experience and work history, keep it simple and relevant.

Summarize your past work experience succinctly and ensure descriptions of your job duties are relevant to the position you’re applying for. 40% of hiring managers spend less than a minute reviewing your resume, so be sure to make it count with skills and experience that are applicable to the open position.

7. Employment isn’t everything on a well-rounded resume.

Many job seekers go weeks or even months without finding the right job. This leaves gaps in the work history section that can leave recruiters fearful the job seeker isn’t reliable. Fortunately, stating your work history isn’t all there is to a resume.

Be sure to feature any volunteer work, continuing education, or freelance projects you did during the gap. If you were a stay-at-home parent, mention that as well. Recruiters want to know what you were doing and how you were growing your skills while you weren’t working for a company.

8. Dress the part — in person and on video.

Most have heard the saying, “dress for the job you want, not the job you have.” Well, it really does hold some truth. When going into an interview, don’t dress just for your part, dress for the part of upper or senior management, or the position that you hope to obtain during your career at the company. This still applies in the world of post-pandemic recruiting: just because your interview is via video chat doesn’t mean you should skip out on a professional outfit.

First impressions are everything, especially when you only have 30 minutes or so to talk with someone before they decide to hire you. So, if you want to get the job fast, make the first impression count!

The first impression counts when you want to get #hired fast. Get 20 tips from @ClearCompany to boost your application and #jobinterview skills:

9.

Don’t fake your skills.

When it comes time for the interview, employers can tell when you’re faking your qualifications and your culture fit. They want to know who they’re hiring and you want to match the position and culture. Being misleading helps neither of you, and can result in bad job placement, poor performance, and ultimately, starting your job search all over again. There’s no point in getting a job quickly if you end up back at square one in a few short months.

Saying what you think the employer wants to hear might get you the job but at the cost of your own career growth and your relationship with that company. Being honest is the best way to show off your skills and land the job of your dreams.

10. Share your story and experiences.

While in the interview, it’s important to back up your skills and experience with concrete examples. Share stories about successes and learning experiences, and give examples of projects and situations at work that really made your skills stand out. Show how your skills helped benefit your last company with numbers, like the number of leads closed, tickets resolved, or products made. Use jargon and language that shows your level of expertise in your field.

11. Leave the negativity at the door.

When you’re talking about previous experiences and situations, it’s important to remember that you should not talk down a past employer. Speaking badly about people you used to work for makes the interviewer question what you will have to say about them down the road.

This can create a bad impression on your character. Plus, this is an interview about moving forward. Any past discrepancies shouldn’t interfere with your next position.

12. Follow up with the hiring manager.

Whether you’ve heard back about the job or not, it’s important to follow up with the hiring manager or hiring team after the interview. Send a thank you letter or email stating how it was a pleasure to speak with them and that you really appreciate the opportunity. Reiterate any thoughts about why you’re the best fit for the position, and be sure to confirm your contact information and invite them to ask any further questions to aid their decision.

This shows that you are engaged and invested, and your sincere interest in the position can help you get hired quickly.

13. Leverage your network to find new opportunities.

Sometimes, job opportunities spring from unlikely places and unexpected connections. Be open to communicating and networking with others in your field. Whether at an industry event, over email, or over social media platforms like LinkedIn, make it a point to connect with colleagues, classmates, and others in your industry to maintain a source for job opportunities and career growth resources.

14. Create a list of reliable references.

Before applying to any job, create a list of references and reach out to those people to make sure they are comfortable with being listed as one of your references. Give them a heads up that you are applying to certain companies that may contact them, too. These should be people who know you through networking, past co-workers, or anyone else who can speak to your work experience and skills.

Make sure to choose references who are a good source of information. Choose people who are familiar with your work style and previous projects, and who can provide an unbiased, honest opinion.

15. Apply more than once if it feels right.

So, you applied for a job and didn’t get it. A few weeks later, you notice that the position is still open. Feel free to try again! Take note of anything that may have gone wrong the first time and take another crack at it with a revised resume and cover letter. This shows initiative and your ability to develop and grow.

@ClearCompany says that if at first you don’t get the job, it can pay to try again:

16. Turn your weaknesses into strengths.

We all have weaknesses, and employers want to know about them. Remember, a weakness can also be one of your strengths. For example, your weakness might be procrastination. However, despite that, you always make the deadlines and can produce excellent work, even on short timelines.

The same can go for many other weaknesses. Whatever your downfalls may be, use them to your advantage and show that even though you’re not perfect, you know how to work through your weaknesses and accomplish great work.

17. Focus on your achievements.

Acknowledging your accomplishments is a great way to show what you’re capable of and how you’ve already succeeded in your career. You might not have 10 years of experience, but if you can prove that your team doubled its sales in one year, that can make a huge difference when you’re being considered for a position.

When listing your achievements, don’t forget to include any awards or certifications you’ve earned in your field.

18. Stand out from the rest with one-of-a-kind details.

Standing out from other candidates is possible in several ways, from showcasing an online work portfolio to sending in a presentation that acts as your cover letter. These unique moves will help employers and hiring managers remember you and your work. Try an attention-grabbing tactic while also showcasing the particular skills the employer is looking for effectively.

19. Practice confident body language.

Projecting confidence in a job interview can be the difference between being the second choice and getting the job quickly. With 65% of communication occurring nonverbally, confident body language is every bit as important as giving confident answers. Whether your interview is in person or on video, practice your nonverbal communication as much as you practice your answers to interview questions. Avoid fidgeting, pay attention to your posture, and maintain consistent eye contact for a confident demeanor.

Employers want to know that you are confident in your skills and yourself. If you don’t show it, you may give the impression that you aren’t qualified for the position.

Confident body language is key for a successful #jobinterview. Find out more quick tips to get hired fast from @ClearCompany:

20. Be engaged with the interviewer.

Hiring managers and employers want to know that you are listening and interested in what they have to say. Ask questions and don’t be afraid to say you’re unsure of an answer —it’s still possible to have a great interview even if you don’t know everything. It can even reassure recruiters that you’re accurately representing your skills instead of just trying to get the job quickly.

One of the best ways to show you’re engaged and interested is by being proactive. Browse the organization’s website, read reviews, scroll through social pages, and learn their company mission, vision, and values. Bring notes from your research on the company to your interview. This information will give you ideas for questions to ask your interviewer and will show the hiring team you are confident and serious about the position.

In the post-pandemic talent market, it is possible to get a job quickly, especially if you take the time to prepare. There’s nothing more impressive than a candidate who shows up prepared, confident, and ready to tackle any obstacles ahead. How to look for a job: the five most popular ways

Interesting work in your field can be found through colleagues. This is a reliable search method if you are constantly developing a network of contacts and acquaintances: it is easier for managers to hire a person with a recommendation than to launch a complex and lengthy search process among the entire resume database.

Reciprocal favors strengthen the bond between people. Before you puzzle over how to meet the right people, try to find those to whom you yourself can be useful. Keep in touch, remind yourself: go to professional events, communicate in chat rooms and on social media pages. And don’t hesitate to ask for help: new contacts and connections will work the minute you decide to use them.

If you received an offer in this way, ask colleagues about the company. Find out how the work is built, what projects the team is currently working on, whether employees communicate outside the office, and what communication style is adopted. With this baggage, you will come to your interview prepared and confident.

Pros:

learn a lot about the team before starting work, evaluate the conditions in advance.

Minuses:

human factor. The criteria for a good job in the opinion of colleagues may differ from yours, a biased attitude may arise in a new place.

Recruitment agencies do not look for jobs for applicants: the employer contacts them and pays for the selection of an employee. All a candidate can do is send their resume to the agency and hope they get a call someday.

Therefore, it is better to be wary of offers for the selection of work for money, carefully check the reviews, documents and read the contract: scammers sometimes engage in paid “selection of work”. But there are exceptions.

For example, there are domestic staff recruitment agencies: in order to get into their database of performers, you need to pay money and pass a test. Outstaffing agencies are also pleased with the new resume: they provide temporary staff for companies – they offer replacements for the employee’s vacation, maternity leave, or for the implementation of short-term projects. As a rule, this is temporary employment (according to the law, it cannot last more than 9months), and the contract is concluded with the agency.

Career consultants and companies that provide consulting services promise to find jobs. A consultation might be helpful, but don’t rely on job security.

Study the agency market in your city, read reviews. Pay attention to how many years these companies have been operating. Do not apply to companies about which there is little information and no live reviews.

Pros:

you don’t have to search for yourself.

Minuses:

there are fraudulent companies, the applicant cannot influence the search.

Jobs in social networks are published both by the official pages of employing companies and by the employees themselves, and reposts quickly spread information across the Web. In order to find out about vacancies in time, it is useful to subscribe to the personal pages of the managers of the companies in which you want to work.

If someone writes that they are leaving a position you are interested in, you can politely wish success in a new place in personal correspondence and ask for the contacts of someone from the personnel department. If you yourself publish a post about finding a new job, set up your profile so that a potential boss can write to you.

Pros:

reposts quickly reach the right people, direct contact with the employer.

Minuses:

information “sinks” in the feed, a vacancy can be quickly closed, and the ad is still “living”.

Large sites have a lot of vacancies in a variety of cities and industries: even if there is a crisis in the right industry, you can always find alternatives. As a rule, vacancies are moderated to avoid discrimination, and the service is constantly developed and improved to attract new users. Large employers usually post all vacancies on one site.

Some companies do not indicate their direct contacts, so they can only be contacted through the form of the job search site. Also, the site may require mandatory registration for a response: without creating a resume, it is unlikely that it will be possible to attract the attention of the employer.

Pros:

many vacancies, many search customization tools, reliable companies, many large employers.

Minuses:

you need to register, there may not be direct contacts, so you have to wait for the employer’s response.

Thematic pages in social networks and special sites are suitable if you are looking for a place in a specific field. Or just monitor the market to change jobs one day. Jobs are posted on websites, and professional discussions can also arise in communities: you can count on useful advice from colleagues on finding a job or current issues.

Look for professional groups on Facebook and Vkontakte, chat in thematic chats in instant messengers: there you can meet famous experts or earn your own reputation, and then get an interesting offer.

Pros:

narrow scope of search, direct contacts of employers, advice from colleagues.

Minuses:

some professional communities are closed, sometimes there is only a direct contact of the manager and there is no information about the company.

By law, all companies must report vacancies to employment centers. And those who are left without work can register with the labor exchange and receive a small allowance if they fulfill all the conditions: they are looking for work, are regularly marked on the exchange and go to interviews.

In the common room of the employment center there should be a computer with a database of open vacancies. The applicant himself looks through the proposals and selects the appropriate ones. There are usually a lot of applications on the exchange for working specialties, and for specialists with higher education it is more difficult to find a decent option. You can’t miss the days of the mark or be late – they will deregister.

Pros:

everything is official, you can apply for unemployment benefits, there is free education in simple specialties.

Minuses:

uneven selection of vacancies, attendance at the report strictly on the appointed day and time.

The HeadHunter website is a large database of vacancies and resumes. More than 400 thousand vacancies are available on the site every day, and employers send more than 900 thousand invitations per week.

Filters help you find the right offer and respond to it. The more precisely they are configured, the more suitable offers will appear in the search results. There are three main filters:

You can select only your city, city and region, or specify other points where you want to go for work. Your resume has the “Ready to Move” mark: it will tell the employer that you are ready to change your place of residence.

If you are only interested in working with a flexible schedule, filter other offers. Managers who are looking for a full-time employee indicate this parameter.

Check the salary levels for your city and your position in the “Money Recipient”. Browse the vacancies according to your request: you will find out the average market salary for specialists of your level. If you are looking for an offer with a higher salary, filter vacancies by this parameter.

When your resume is on the site, the system itself begins to offer options. In the section “My CVs” there is a button “Eligible Jobs”: these are offers selected using a ranking system and smart search. Where to start looking for a job

The first step is to define the scope of your professional interests. Those lucky ones who already know their desired position can immediately move on to the second one. And if at this stage you have any difficulties, I offer several quick ways to understand which profession to look at:

  • Monitor vacancies. View literally all vacancies or search for positions by keywords: “process optimization”, “working with documents”, “creativity”, “sense of humor”, “sense of style”, “high analytical skills”. It is important to remember that today there is a separate profession for almost every skill. This method will help determine the name of the appropriate one.
  • Conduct blind surveys. To do this, you need to make a resume, cross out the names of the positions-companies that you have behind you and leave only the skills. Then ask friends to come up with at least five options for professions that a specialist with such experience can do. It’s like in the “Voice” program, when not the image and age are evaluated, but the vocal data.
  • Test different professions. You can work one day as a designer, another as a buyer or HR manager. For this method, you will have to participate in volunteer projects or ask for a job with a friend, even in a remote format, the second will be useful. “Taste” ten specialties like this, this will allow you to learn a lot about your preferences in work.
  • Complete a vocational test or career guidance. The specialist will assess the competencies of the applicant and offer hypotheses in which areas his skills are most likely to be useful. This is a paid service, but saves a lot of time. You can also take a free career guidance test, such as the “Who am I?” test.

The second step is to see if you can immediately get an attractive position, or determine the position closest to your dream job. To do this, you can do the following:

  • Respond to interesting vacancies and springboard positions in order to evaluate market feedback.
  • Contact experts or career consultants to build an optimal professional track.
  • Study in open sources the profiles and resumes of people who are already working in the position of interest to the applicant.

The third step is to go through all the classic stages of employment:

  • writing resumes;
  • compiling a cover letter;
  • job search;
  • sending responses with resume and cover letter;
  • telephone interview;
  • interview with HR or manager;
  • test task execution;
  • providing recommendations;
  • decision on the offer.

There may be another stage when the candidate realizes that he lacks knowledge and skills, and therefore goes to study to meet the requirements of the market.

How to prepare for an interview

There are four classic blocks of skills that are tested during an interview or an interview:

  • Hard Skills. Key professional competencies.
  • Motivation. Does the specialist enjoy his work, does he love it. If he has a lot of experience and a lot of professional knowledge, but he does not want to do what he does, then most likely he will not bring the desired result.
  • Soft Skills. Communication, logic, thinking, etc.
  • has managerial competencies. Ability to manage a team: train, motivate, control, etc.

Some questions are asked at almost every interview, they are definitely worth working through:

  • Tell us about yourself.
  • Why did you leave your previous job?
  • What salary are you applying for?
  • Why did you decide to move to a new area? (When changing activities. )
  • What do you know about our company?

Then you can make a list, conditionally, of 50 questions, like in exams, and prepare for each one separately. They should include all four skill groups. Plus, it is necessary to provide for questions “aside”: non-obvious, clarifying, provocative. For example: “To which of our competitors will you send your resume if you receive a negative answer from us right now?”

It is important to stock up on success stories from your practice. Recruiters pay special attention to this, ask questions. For example, “What did you do as a leader when an employee was demotivated?”, “How did you resolve conflicts?”, “Tell us about your reaction and actions in a crisis situation.” In such a case, it is better to pick up several successful examples in advance. When the answers are ready and worked out several times, the interview is much easier. You can practice with a mirror, a friend, a career consultant

How to stop being afraid of job interviews and new jobs

First you need to ask yourself the question “What exactly am I afraid of?” and make a list of fears:

  • not knowing the answers to interview questions and looking stupid;
  • go to work and fail to cope with new responsibilities;
  • to be disappointed in their choice of a new job;
  • did not pass probation.

When the list of fears is ready, imagine in detail that each of the scenarios came true. And ask yourself the question: “What will I do if each of my fears comes true?” After that, model the situation, for example: “If at the interview I am asked questions to which I will not know the answer, I will say that I am ready to study at my own expense, or I will offer to send answers after the interview”; “If at a new job it is not clear to me how to solve certain problems, I will turn to colleagues, a manager, or hire a mentor.” Modeling reality helps to get rid of the feeling of fear.

How to speed up your job search

  • Consider related vacancies. For example, if you are a manager and understand that not only a vacancy for a sales manager, but also for working with clients will suit you, it is better to consider these vacancies in parallel. The key mistake of candidates is to look for one vacancy for three months, and then switch to another.

Several related positions – more market coverage, more interviews. And this allows you to better understand what salary you can apply for, which companies are looking for such specialists, their requirements, test tasks. There is a practice of interviews when a candidate answers questions faster and easier, without hesitation, less worried.

  • See the market broadly. Some candidates consider vacancies only with a salary that suits them, while others have a strict list of requirements for the company: region, industry, the ability to work remotely.

Because of this, it may turn out that the specialist seems to be looking for a job, but does not go to interviews. Attractive and profitable vacancies pass him by. But as soon as he takes a broader look at the market – revises the range of salaries, geography – there will be much more options. For example, a proposal with prospects for career and salary growth in the near future, when during a trial period they offer a salary below the required threshold, but after a month or two it is reviewed.

It is important not to narrow the market in advance. You can state strict requirements for vacancies when you have a lot of invitations to interviews, you pass them successfully. But usually candidates consider offers with different conditions, when they have not been able to find a job for six months, in a state of panic. This is noticed by employers at the interview. Nervousness, aggression, demotivation, willingness to take on any job in their specialty, dumping can cause refusal.

Recruitment market trends

  • Elitism of the interview. Today, the interview stage is preceded by a painstaking selection of candidates with a careful assessment of skills, resumes and portfolios. Recruiters give more introductory test tasks. But oral communications and communication with living people is becoming less.
  • Focus on universal competencies. Employers value applicants with skills in related industries. For example, it will be a big plus if an Internet marketer understands the principles of work of targetologists and SMM managers; and the accountant – economists and personnel specialists.
  • Nowhere without soft skills. The applicant will need good logic, excellent communication, high stress resistance and multitasking. In the event of a conflict or disputable situation, the specialist should be aimed at finding out the causes and finding a solution as soon as possible. It is desirable that the person be able to share real stories of using soft skills from their career.
  • Professionalism is more important than charisma. Previously, it was easier for job seekers to “hook” an employer with their charisma and visionary skills during an interview. And today the ability to speak beautifully and energize is considered only as an addition to professional skills. They cannot be used as the main “trump card” for employment.

Pritzker Administration Launches Pilot Program to Support Quality Improvements for Child Care Providers in Rural Illinois Communities

CHICAGO – The Illinois Governor’s Office of Early Childhood Development (GOECD) today announced a new pilot program to address obstacles faced by rural child care providers in meeting the state’s quality of care standards. In partnership with the Illinois Department of Human Services (IDHS), GOECD is providing thirty-five (35) centers in rural counties with $3.8 million in funding per year to hire additional staff or increase the salaries of existing staff. The pilot program, made possible by both federal and state funding, is expected to run for three years, and builds on the Pritzker administration’s ongoing commitment to improving equity and accessibility to quality child care for all Illinois families.

“Child care investments not only nurture our youngest residents, but also allow working parents to embrace their full potential,” said Governor JB Pritzker. “I’m proud that Illinois has been the best in the nation during this pandemic in supporting child care providers and the children they serve. This important pilot program strengthens our ongoing efforts to improve equity in every corner of our state, bringing new resources to regions where families have historically had less easy access to quality child care. The truest measure of our pandemic recovery will be the opportunities and support we offer our working families, and Illinois will leave no community behind as we build the future our residents deserve.”

“Governor JB Pritzker and his administration want every child to enter school safe, healthy, ready to succeed, and eager to learn. This pilot gives us the opportunity to test a new approach to child care quality that we can evaluate based on data and evidence,” said Dr. Jamilah R. Jor’dan, Executive Director of GOECD. “We are excited to be working closely with the 35 child care centers participating in this pilot and with our partners at the Illinois Department of Human Services.

Unlike other programs which reward child care providers already meeting quality of care standards, this pilot program facilitates grants to child care centers in need of additional support to increase quality of care. Participating centers will be reviewed using ExceleRate Illinois, the state’s quality and rating improvement system for child care providers.

“Governor Pritzker has a clear understanding of the significant meaning and impactful ways the child care industry supports families across the state. We are pleased to be we working with the Governor’s Office of Early Childhood Development and see 35 centers benefit from this federal funding.  This is an opportunity to support providers and enhance accessibility to quality child care for all Illinois families,” said Grace Hou, Secretary, Illinois Department of Human Services.

Pilot funding is allocated per classroom and is provided to centers up-front for salary and staffing improvements centers need to meet standards beyond the basic licensing requirements. Pilot participants are working towards implementation of ExceleRate Illinois’ standards for Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI).

“Morale is up!  Teachers feel they are more appreciated,” said Dr. Jill Andrews, president of the Southern Illinois Early Childhood Action Team and owner of Kiddie Kollege Early Childhood Center in Fairfield, IL. “The improved salaries based on credentials, along with regular team planning, are making a difference. Planning and testing improvements at a much faster pace is more effective than just annual reporting for quality.”

“Childcare providers frequently operate with limited or scarce resources and when the pandemic hit, the consequences on the childcare industry were devastating,” said State Senator Dale Fowler (R-Harrisburg). “The pandemic only reinforced the fact that childcare centers are critical to working families. This program will give facilities and workers in Southern Illinois some much needed financial assistance to help them recover and continue to provide the critical service they do to our communities.

“Teachers and staff make a huge difference in our children’s lives and are the main reason for their academic success while they’re in school and away from home,” said State Senator Doris Turner (D-Springfield). “I am pleased that the Decatur Day Care, among others, was selected to receive this grant. This grant directs funding to a program most families need. Child care is expensive and it’s crucial we provide our teachers and staff with support, especially during this time which has been difficult for everyone.”

“The rural childcare pilot program is a perfect fit for Decatur Daycare,” stated Rep. Sue Scherer (D-Decatur). “It will help employ more teachers and support staff, as well as increase salaries to retain quality teachers. It is an honor for Decatur Daycare center to be chosen for this wonderful pilot program!”

“The influx of these funds for our rural childcare centers comes at a critical time,” stated Rep. Norine Hammond (D-Macomb). “The children cared for at We Care Center are 100% children of low-income families. Families that desperately need this help.”

The following centers are participating in the pilot:

These 35 centers include 577 teachers and assistants in 104 infant/toddler classrooms, 63 preschool classrooms, and 37 school-age rooms. The Pilot is supported by the federal Preschool Development Grant Birth through Five (PDG B-5) and State child care funds.

This project was made possible by grant number 90TP0057. The contents of this press release do not necessarily represent the official view of the United States Department of Health and Human Services, Administration for Children and Families.

This program is different from others because it does not only apply to centers already fulfilling the state’s standards. This program was created to help centers who do not already meet the ExceleRate Illinois’ standards for Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI).

“Childcare providers frequently operate with limited or scarce resources and when the pandemic hit, the consequences on the childcare industry were devastating,” said State Senator Dale Fowler (R-Harrisburg). “The pandemic only reinforced the fact that childcare centers are critical to working families.

5 Important Facts About Your Drooling Baby
– KeaBabies

All parents have wondered this at one time: why do babies drool? If you’ve been noticing your little one suddenly has saliva flowing all day long, don’t fret – it’s a normal part of baby’s development!

As your baby’s saliva glands mature around a few months of age, it’s time to get out the bibs, and not just during mealtime. By the time an infant is about two months of age, non-stop drool can be a typical part of daily life. From wet blankets to soggy clothes, it can be a surprise when babies start drooling excessively!

1. Saliva production is vital for the digestive system.

When you see your baby drooling, know that excess saliva production is connected to his or her developing digestive system. Saliva is an important part of digestion, protecting your baby’s gut and also coating their clothes and toys with antibodies and proteins that can prevent disease.

Babies have six salivary glands responsible for producing saliva. These glands initiate saliva production, and too much saliva in the mouth causes babies to drool. Saliva glands produce up to 4 pints of saliva every day!

Adults have front teeth and muscle tone and control to keep saliva from falling from their mouths, but babies won’t have full control of their swallowing muscles until 18 to 24 months of age.

2. You’ll notice an increase in saliva production around 2-4 months old.

Salivary glands can produce 2 to 4 pints of saliva every day! While adults can simply swallow their saliva, babies don’t have full control of the facial muscles or the ability to swallow excess saliva until they are toddlers.

Although babies develop swallowing muscles in the womb, your babies lacks the muscle control to be able to swallow properly until around 6 months of age, when she is ready for solid food. Even as babies begin to eat solid food, they might have difficulty swallowing certain types of food or pieces of food that aren’t cut properly.

Parents might notice their little one increases saliva production around 2 to 3 months of age, and drooling lasts until early toddlerhood. As a baby enters the teething stage, drooling will probably increase.

Saliva bathes the teeth and gums, allowing the mouth to wash away excess food and bacteria.

3. Excessive drooling might be connected to teething.

Drooling might be a sign that teething is imminent, but this is not always the case. Drooling is very common for a baby between 2 and 3 months of age, and typically lasts until they are toddlers, but drooling doesn’t necessarily directly correlate to teething.

Researchers believe that drooling simply means that a baby’s salivary glands are developing as a baby approaches the age when starting solid foods becomes beneficial. Since breast milk and formula are easy to digest, saliva is not needed as much. As a baby begins to eat solid foods, the brain signals the need for increased saliva production.

When your baby chews on their hands, motor receptors in the mouth signal their brain to initiate the production of saliva, a good sign that they might be ready for solid food soon. Saliva helps neutralize stomach acid, grow a baby’s intestinal lining, and protect the lining of the esophagus from irritation.

Other symptoms of teething include chewing on the fingers and hands, excessive fussiness, red and swollen gums, and trouble sleeping.

4. Excessive saliva production means it’s time to invest in quality bibs.

When the saliva just won’t stop, you might notice a rash that breaks out around your baby’s mouth, your baby’s face, and your baby’s chin and neck. If your baby starts blowing bubbles, this extra moisture might also irritate delicate baby skin.

In some instances, a drooling baby can experience skin irritation around the mouth. This irritation can look like a rash or dry patch. If excessive drooling causes skin problems, try to wipe away drool so it doesn’t sit on your baby’s face for too long. You can also apply an ointment to the affected areas.

Bandana bibs are also a great way to prevent skin irritation from a drooling baby.

Investing in quality baby bibs can help stop the spread of rashes and other irritation. Ultra-soft bandana bibs are an excellent option to combat the effects of drooling. Bandana bibs are lightweight, absorbent, and soft on delicate baby skin – making them perfect for drooling!

KeaBabies Bandana Bibs are an excellent resource for parents of drooling babies!

KeaBabies Bandana Bibs come in sets of eight, and are available in a variety of colors and patterns, perfect for boys and girls! Until babies learn to swallow saliva, they’ll be drooling up a storm, and bandana bibs are soft and absorbent to help a baby protect their clothes, mouth, and skin.

KeaBabies Bandana Bibs feature dual-layer protection through organic cotton that enables fast liquid absorption, and water-resistant soft fleece fabric to make sure baby clothes stay dry and fresh.

5. Drool might irritate a baby’s skin.

Skin irritation can be caused by a baby drooling. Underdeveloped muscles cause a baby to drool excessively at times, and this sticky and slick substance can cause skin irritation. Parents can use a cloth to keep their baby’s face dry, use an ointment to create a protective barrier, and change their baby’s clothes often when they become too wet from a baby drooling.

Baby drool is a completely normal phenomenon, and parents usually don’t need to be concerned.

Although it can be surprising for parents to watch their child let globs of drool fall out of their mouths all day, drool is a normal part of a baby’s growth and development. Drool is helpful for many aspects of an infant’s health, and investing in some quality bandana bibs can be a great way to protect a baby’s sensitive skin!

Your Infant is Teething: Know the Signs and Symptoms

Advice From Our Experts

July 10, 2020

Teething can be a time of great frustration for caregivers, in this post I will list some of the most common symptoms, explain how they relate to teething and share some insight on how to help soothe your little one during this potentially uncomfortable time.

When Does Teething Begin for Infants?

Teething usually starts around four to eight months with the lower front teeth and continues until 30-36 months of age when the last set of molars appear. During the teething period there are symptoms that include irritability, disrupted sleep, swelling or inflammation of the gums, drooling, loss of appetite, rash around the mouth, mild temperature, diarrhea, increased biting and gum-rubbing and even ear-rubbing. These symptoms were reported by 70-80 percent of parents according to an article from the British Dental Journal. So, why don’t all infants experience teething symptoms? Keep reading to find out.

Why Teething Symptoms May Be Confused with Cold Symptoms

Research has pointed out that teething begins around six months of age. This is the same time when an infant’s immunities they received from their mother, via the placenta, are diminishing. This means that the infant’s own immune system is becoming established. During this time, infants become vulnerable to minor infections. Because these two changes are taking place, the symptoms of teething can be confused with a minor illness or cold and visa versa. This explains why only 70-80 percent of parents reported teething symptoms of their infant; it’s very likely that parents of the remaining 20-30 percent associated the symptoms to a minor illness or cold.

Below is a list of commonly reported teething symptoms, with ways to help your infant at home and when to call the doctor:

  • Irritability
  • Drooling/Skin Rashes
  • Coughing
  • Biting and Gnawing
  • Low Grade Fever
  • Cheek rubbing and ear pulling
  • Diarrhea

Irritability

This is caused by the discomfort of the teeth erupting through the gums. Often the first teeth and molars are the most uncomfortable.

How to help your infant’s irritability: Cuddle, cuddle, cuddle! Every baby can use some good cuddle time when they are having a hard time with teething. The extra time spent with your baby can help alleviate their pain, by providing feelings of being comforted and reassured.

Drooling/Skin Rashes

Teething can stimulate drooling and many babies drool a lot!

How to help your infant’s drooling: Excessive drooling can cause a rash around the mouth, cheeks, chin and neck area due to the extra bacteria on the skin from the saliva. Try to keep the area as clean and as dry as possible by periodically wiping the area. Applying a simple barrier cream can help with the dry, chapped and sore skin.

Coughing

The extra saliva produced during teething can cause an occasional cough or gag.

How to help your infant’s coughing: If your infant’s cough continues or is accompanied by a high fever and cold or flu symptoms, contact your infant’s pediatrician. The high fever with cold and flu symptoms is not related to teething, but is actually a sign that your infant is sick.

Biting and Gnawing

The counter pressure from biting on practically anything can alleviate the pressure from under the gums.

How to help your infant’s biting and gnawing: Anything cold works great! My best friend mixes water with the pouches of baby food and freezes them to make fruit and veggie popsicles. There are teething rings, chew beads and any commercially bought teething toys can help, especially when chilled or frozen.

Low Grade Fever

A low grade fever is defined and caused by the following:

  • A temperature ranging from 98-100 degrees.
  • It can be caused by an infant putting their unclean hands in their mouth.

If the fever reaches above 101 degrees or continues, contact your infant’s pediatrician because it may not be the teething but a more serious illness.

How to help your infant’s low grade fever: Use an age-appropriate pain medication and please consult your infant’s pediatrician and the medication label for correct dosage.

Cheek rubbing and ear pulling

This is caused by pain in the gums, which can travel to the cheek and ear, especially when the molars are erupting. Infants will rub those areas. Keep in mind that ear pulling or rubbing can also be a sign of an ear infection, please contact your infant’s pediatrician if this symptom continues or is accompanied with a high fever.

How to help your infant’s cheek rubbing and ear pulling: Try rubbing and massaging the gums with a clean finger for one to two minutes to help with the discomfort.

Teething and Diarrhea

Many believe that the increased saliva produced during teething can cause stool to become slightly loose.Keep in mind, diarrhea can be a sign of a more serious infection so contact your infant’s pediatrician if the stool becomes watery, because your infant could be at risk for dehydration. Contacting your infant’s pediatrician is especially important if the diarrhea is accompanied by vomiting or a high fever.

I hope the list of symptoms and ways you can help your infant will guide you through your infant’s teething phase. I also hope this helps ease the potential stress experienced by many parents. Just remember, that many symptoms we think are teething can be associated with illness, may be completely unrelated to teething and may need to be addressed by a physician.

What parents need to know |

During the “baby boom” period, I often have to listen to young mothers who enthusiastically talk about their beloved children. An exciting topic, according to my observation, is the concern of parents about the first teeth of a child: what time should they erupt, how to help the baby during this period and how many teeth should erupt in the end?

Let’s figure it out together:

The formation of a milk bite is of great importance, since the further development of the entire maxillofacial system depends on it. Therefore, maintaining a healthy condition of milk teeth is an important task. However, we will talk about this in detail in the next article.

So, milk bite consists of twenty teeth. Usually, by 6-8 months of a child’s life, the central incisors of the lower jaw (1 or 2 teeth) erupt. They are followed by the central incisors of the mandible. At 8-12 months, lateral incisors appear first on the lower, then on the upper jaw. The first molars usually appear by 12-16 months, at 16-20 months – fangs, and, finally, by 20-30 months – the last, second molars.

Some parents are concerned about the asymmetric placement of baby teeth. However, this is not considered a disease. The fact is that, usually, after eruption of 16 teeth, as a result of chewing food, milk teeth “grind” and fall into place.

It is believed that the process of teething is difficult for both the baby and parents: The child becomes capricious, often cries, “drools”, pulls everything that is tucked under the arm into his mouth, he has a fever and problems with the intestines . .. Here it is worth making a few digressions:0009

Firstly: from the age of four months, children have increased salinity, i.e. salivation. It seems to parents that the first long-awaited tooth is about to erupt, but a month or two passes, and nothing happens. Do not panic: often the interval between the start of active work of the salivary glands and the appearance of the first teeth is two to three months.

Secondly: the baby puts everything in his mouth not only because he is teething, but also because in certain months of his life tasting various objects for taste and hardness is one of the ways of learning about the world around him. If the gums are swollen and reddened, and the child is naughty, use special anesthetic gels for children (for many mothers they have become a real real salvation) and buy a special rubber ring for gum massage for the baby. It can be whole, or filled with cool water, which has an additional calming effect.

And thirdly, it used to be believed that due to teething, babies have problems with the intestines, as well as a rise in temperature. But modern scientists have come to the conclusion that these problems are not directly related to the first teeth: just during teething, the child’s general immunity decreases, and he becomes more susceptible to various bacteria and infections. Therefore, having discovered such signs, it is better to immediately consult a pediatrician to exclude the possibility of developing infectious diseases.

Finally, not all families experience the first teething of a baby as a nightmare. Some children tolerate these changes quite calmly and do not cause much concern to parents.

If your baby is still very unwell and has difficulty sleeping due to pain, talk to your doctor about an over-the-counter pain reliever made specifically for babies, and check with your doctor about dosage.

Now let’s talk about a problem that a close friend of mine faced recently: her son didn’t have a single tooth by 12 months. Naturally, the son was taken to a pediatric dentist. The dentist issued a sacramental phrase: “Have you ever seen children who never erupted a single tooth? Here I am, no. Go home and wait.” )))

Now the child is almost three years old, all the set teeth are in place, and mom really shouldn’t have worried.

But, since the doctor apparently believed that brevity is the sister of talent, I will try to expand on this topic. In the world, of course, there are cases of complete absence of teeth (in professional language – adentia), but they are extremely (!) Rare. But cases of later eruption have become more frequent. (There are a lot of reasons – from poor ecology, lack of vitamins and genetic heredity, to an elementary “personal” program laid down by nature) By the way, in such cases they say about late erupted teeth: they will grow later – they will last longer. )))

Also, cases of partial absence of teeth and their rudiments have become more frequent, which may be associated with a change in nutrition: human food has become softer, it no longer needs to be chewed so hard, and little-used teeth simply do not grow. Most often these are the lateral upper incisors, the second upper or lower premolars. To confirm the absence of the germ, it is necessary to take a panoramic x-ray (orthopantogram) when the baby is about 7 years old, especially if relatives or parents already had similar features.

Early diagnosis will help to find a solution to the problem: it can be a bridge prosthesis or implantation, which is carried out at a more mature age, when the maxillofacial skeleton is sufficiently formed.

In any case, if you are worried that the baby has not yet erupted its first tooth, dentists still advise you to wait until 1.5 – 2 years, and then take it to a specialist, having previously made an orthopantogram.

Do not forget that your child is a bright individual with his own development program, so do not panic if he has his own pace of life, different from others. The main thing is to let him know that he is special, and not dryly “not like everyone else.” And then he will smile. Not only to show his first teeth, but also because he is truly happy.

A 2 month old baby drools

Abundant salivation in babies of the first year of life is considered by most parents to be the first signs of teething, and therefore they are very worried if a child at 2 months old begins to drool and blisters. Some consider this a sign of endocrine diseases, others – neurological symptoms, but both of them spend a lot of effort, time and their nerve cells, figuring out whether this is normal and what to do about it.

Why babies drool at 2 months

The salivary glands begin their work during fetal development, but only by 2-3 months of life they become truly active and produce enough saliva. Therefore, parents whose children drool and bubble profusely at the age of 2-3 months should only rejoice at the new stage in the development of the child and try to make it as convenient as possible for the baby and others. Sufficient saliva production after 2 months is very important – it ensures the breakdown of milk starch in the oral cavity to sugars, which facilitates the digestion of food in the stomach, and in addition, saliva protects the baby’s oral cavity from drying out and pathogens.

Due to the fact that earlier there was little saliva and the child simply did not have such a need, he will learn to swallow excess liquid only by 4-5 months, and then the first teeth will arrive in time and the epic with salivation will begin again, in order to completely stop by 1. 6-2, and even 3 years.

When drooling is not normal

If increased salivation is explained by the next stage in the child’s development, then he should not have any other signs of pathology. The baby should remain cheerful, calm, eat with appetite, play, walk and feel great, with the possible exception of redness and maceration of the skin on the chin, which occurs in children due to constant irritation with saliva.

Aggressive behavior of a child in kindergarten

Sometimes a 2-month-old child drools because of :

  • SARS or colds – stuffy nose, fever and profuse salivation – these are the main signs of illness in infants,
  • 90 079 allergic reactions – most often appear in young children when plant pollen, dust, detergent fumes and other allergens enter the body. It is quite easy to distinguish allergic rhinitis, in addition to a large amount of saliva, the child has a constantly stuffy nose, reddened and watery eyes, he sneezes and coughs,

  • endocrine disorders – thyroid diseases can be manifested by profuse salivation at this age, but the child’s mouth is constantly open, the tongue is thickened and may not fit in the oral cavity and there are other signs of developmental delay,
  • neurological disorders – in this case in addition to profuse salivation, the child has several other signs of developmental disorders – pulsation of a large fontanelle, constant crying, developmental delay – the baby does not hold his head in weight, cannot lift it while lying on his stomach, and so on.

Ackworth School | Studying at school in England

Ackworth School is an independent school located in the village of High Ackworth near Pontefract in West Yorkshire England. It is one of eight Quaker schools in England. The school (more precisely, its leadership) is a participant in the conference of directors and headmistresses of schools and SHMIS. The head is Anton Mari, who took over at the beginning of the 2014-2015 academic year. Deputy Head – Jeffrey Swales.

The school has a kindergarten for children aged 2.5 to 4, an elementary school for children aged 5 to 11, and a high school for students aged 11 to 18 years. Boarding houses serve only high school students.

Originally a boarding school for Quaker children. Today, most of the school’s students are day students. About half of the students at the boarding school are from abroad and predominantly from Asia, although the number of borders from other countries, especially from Eastern Europe, is growing.

Most of today’s students are non-Quakers, but the school retains a strong Quaker spirit and can offer scholarship awards to children from Quaker and non-Quaker families. Very short Quaker-style silence in meetings and before meals. Once a week the school meets for a longer worship meeting.

Studying at school in England. About Ackworth School.

Faculties

The school has four departments: Woolman, Gurney, Penn and Fothergill. Penn, Gurney and Woolman were all famous Quakers, and John Fothergill was the school’s founder. Each student is sent to one of the four departments at the beginning of the school year for internal activities that include sports, music, drama, poetry and art.

Students are also divided during lunch according to their departments.

Uniform

The school uniform consists of gray trousers, gray socks, a light blue shirt, a dark blue school tie and a dark blue jumper for boys, as well as a dark blue skirt, a blue and white striped blouse and a dark blue blue jumper for girls. Blazers are also part of the uniform for Years 1-5 (high school ages)

Sixth grade boys wear a white shirt and gray trousers with a burgundy jumper or black jacket, and sixth grade girls wear a white blouse and navy blue skirt with a burgundy jumper.

Music

The school has a strong musical tradition. In 1995, on the site of one of the old boarding houses, a purpose-built musical facility was built, including a concert hall for 180 seats, 14 study halls, 2 classrooms, a music library and a recording studio. During school holidays, summer schools are sometimes held there.

Boarding house

Boarders live in separate boarding houses for boys and girls. Under 19For 97 years, the school schedule included Saturday morning classes, leaving Wednesdays free, providing a more balanced week for participants. The changing demographics of the school have led to a phasing out of this.

Sixth Form

When students reach sixth grade, they all receive general or uniform instruction in certain areas. There are two study blocks for “Lower Sixth” (known as “West Wing Studies” and “Old Art Block”) and two for “Upper Sixth” (known as “Fothergill Studies” and “Old Library”). The sixth student has free periods during which they are invited to study. During these free periods, students must remain in the school premises.

Ackworth Charity Week

Every year in the week preceding the October semester, Ackworth Charity Week is held. Two charities, one national and one international, are selected, for which the school raises money through a series of events. These events include cake stands, auctions, concerts, and donut and hot dog sales. One activity involves placing a sixth student in the reserves and allowing younger students to pour water over them.

One of the most popular events of Charity Week is the entertainment program for staff and sixth graders. Sixth grade and some staff members are encouraged to prepare a series of sketches for the enjoyment of younger students. In the middle of the event, there is a fundraising event where the sixth grade raises money from other students.

On October 18, the school celebrates Founder’s Day, the day the school was founded in 1779. The entire school gathers at the Meeting House and sings the Founder’s Day hymn before the group goes on a day trip each year, usually for a walk.

Illinois launches rural child care quality improvement program

CHICAGO, Ill. (KFVS) – The Illinois Governor’s Office of Early Childhood Development (GOECD) announced on March 19 that they will launch a new pilot problem to help rural child care meet the state’s quality of care standards.

The following centers are participating in the pilot:

The truest measure of our pandemic recovery will be the opportunities and support we offer our working families, and Illinois will leave no community behind as we build the future our residents deserve.”

Peculiarities of the profession

This is an old profession that has essentially changed little over several centuries of its existence. Just like 200 years ago, the postman picks up the correspondence received at the post office and delivers it to the recipients.

The working day of a modern postman begins early in the morning with the unfolding of correspondence according to the “wayman”, i.e. along the route. The postman groups newspapers, magazines along the streets and houses, signing the addresses. Sorts letters, notices. The postman also delivers valuable letters and parcels, pensions, money orders, etc. – he receives them against receipt and is responsible for their integrity.

The postman’s salary consists of a salary and “piecework work”, therefore, in addition to correspondence, he distributes some goods (on order), advertising, and subscribes.

Despite the fact that people write letters to each other less and less, paper newspapers and magazines are subscribed to less and less, the package with correspondence weighs impressively. Sorted and grouped mail must be delivered to strong points, which are located in different quarters of the area assigned to the postman. The driver is in charge of the delivery.

Then the postman goes along the route (if in the city, then usually on foot), picks up a portion of correspondence at the strong point and delivers it to the addresses. Then the next stronghold. And so on, until all the mail is delivered.

In this kind of work, one has to spend a lot of time on one’s feet, keeping in mind a lot of addresses, faces, names… But, as people in the know say, it’s hard only out of habit.

In addition, trolley bags are given to postmen to make their task easier. To protect themselves from evil dogs or insane citizens (sometimes this happens), they carry gas cartridges.

The minus of the profession is a low salary with significant physical exertion. But there are also pluses. The postman constantly communicates with people, and over the years he becomes almost his own for many residents of his site. Another advantage: with such work, a person is definitely not threatened with hypodynamia. And finally, to master this profession does not require special education. At the same time, it can be a starting point for those who want to get an education in the field of postal communications.

Workplace

The postman works in the post office. He has his own area assigned to him, where he delivers correspondence.

Important qualities

The profession of a postman requires a good memory, including visual memory, the ability to navigate the area, attentiveness, the ability to concentrate and distribute attention, politeness, a neat appearance.

Diseases of the musculoskeletal system, respiratory organs, cardiovascular, nervous system, hearing loss and vision loss, which cannot be compensated by special means, are contraindications.

Knowledge and skills

The postman must know how to work with different postal items, the rules for processing correspondence and delivering to addressees; know the location of houses on your site.

CreatePrintables – Name Tracing Practice

Kids all learn at different paces, but one of the best ways to start with writing is having your child practice their name. Not only is it an important early skill that they’ll use, it’s also something that they’ll want to practice. But, names can be so diverse! That’s why I’ve created this free editable name tracing worksheet printable so your child can practice writing their name.

New name tracing worksheets available:

  • Name Tracing Practice Pack
  • Seasonal Name Tracing Practice

Most children don’t need to be able to write well by the time they enter kindergarten but even preschool classes work on teaching name recognition. That includes both identifying and writing a child’s name.

When preschoolers are first learning name writing it’s important to make things really simple for them. Personally, I love to use name tracing worksheets to help develop those early writing skills.

Why Use a Name Tracing Worksheet Generator?

Did you know that there are over five thousand popular first names in the US alone? That’s an awful lot of variation even if your child doesn’t have a super unique name. It would be impossible to create tracing name worksheets for each and every name like we do with other early words.

That’s where this name tracing worksheet generator works great. You can customize it with your child’s exact name (both first and last!) even if you use unique spelling.

This writing worksheet generator replaces blank name tracing worksheets because you can finally customize them to say anything you want!

How to Use Name Tracing Worksheets

These free name tracing worksheets for preschool are perfect for developing those beginner writing skills in kids. All you have to do is insert your child’s name and how many times you’d like the name repeated.

When you’re working with young children start with less repetitions. Too many can be overwhelming, plus the larger words are easier to trace for little ones. Then as they gain confidence in their writing you can make the letters smaller and include more lines.

You could start with your kid’s first name, then move on to including the middle and last name. Or have them practice names of family members and friends!

What Font Should I Use For Name Tracing?

I love this name tracing generator because you can choose from multiple fonts. Which font you go with depends on your child’s age, abilities, preferences, and your learning goals.

It’s popular for parents, especially when doing preschool and kindergarten age name writing practice, to opt for dotted letters that can be traced over. Writing formation guides are optional and it really depends on the kid. Try experimenting with different font styles and see what works best for you.

Printable names in bubble letters are great for beginners or if you’re doing other crafts with their name. To turn the name writing worksheet into a custom name craft just enter the name with one repetition with the paper set to landscape.

You can also use this free name writing generator to help kids practice handwriting their name. A lot of schools are starting with cursive instead of printing. If that’s something you want to work on at home choose the cursive font when creating your printable.

Why Should Kids Learn to Write Their Name?

I usually recommend starting early with name writing because it’s something most kids will find useful even from a young age. Unlike other words, preschoolers have plenty of reasons to write their names.

With name writing practice kids will be able to label their own artwork, sign their name on cards (Valentine’s Day is a great opportunity to practice name writing!), and it helps with general word recognition.

Since it’s more practical than other words it’s easier to keep preschoolers focused when practicing name writing. They’ll still develop important pre-writing skills like muscle strength, pencil grip, and letter formation while also getting to write something that relates to their life.

Finally, most preschoolers can identify their name. It can be challenging to convince pre-readers to write words they can’t yet read.

How to Make Name Writing Practice More Fun

Even enthusiastic kids can get burnt out on name tracing worksheets. It’s really important to make sure kids have fun while developing preschool skills. If something is too boring you might start getting resistance in the future when the pressure is higher to teach these early skills.

My best advice is to allow the child to lead in your learning. What that means is providing tracing name worksheets and encouraging kids to do them without being forceful. If they’re completely uninterested, pause and try again at a different time or when they’re older.

Another great way to make things fun is by turning the activity into something more than just writing practice. For younger children you could use the bubble letter font to create a colouring page. Then have them decorate their name however they want.

I’ve also created activities for my kids by painting the letters of their names and decorating them with stickers. These are both great for kids of all ages! Pre-writers will practice letter recognition and older kids can get creative.

For older children who need to practice their writing skills try changing out the names with other things they find interesting like TV show characters or friends’ names.

Can You Use These Free Name Tracing Worksheets With Older Kids?

Writing practice isn’t just for preschoolers and kindergarten students. Even older kids can benefit, especially if they’re learning cursive.

You can also use these writing practice printables to practice spelling. Just insert the spelling words and have your older kids trace over them on the worksheet. To encourage concentration on each letter you can have them alternate what colours they use to write.

Writing practice worksheets are also a great way to practice spelling and vocabulary in a second language at any age.
