Frequently Asked Questions
Does the International Economic Relations Compliance with GEF?
General Director of the MEO company – head of the development of federal state educational standards for primary general, basic general and secondary general education, as well as federal state requirements for preschool education. Therefore, the authors-developers of the MEO relied on the Federal State Educational Standard when creating content.
The MEO company has successfully passed the examination for compliance with the standards at the Federal Institute for the Development of Education and the Russian Academy of Sciences.
How to combine IER with SanPin requirements? It is impossible for children to sit in front of the monitor all day!
Read the expert’s comment on the link for more details about the IER and SanPin. According to SanPin, children should not spend more than 15 minutes in front of the monitor in a row, after which a change of activity should be made.
The MEE is based on a constant change of activity: children turn to the screen only to solve interactive tasks and games. The rest of the time, the MEO is the teacher’s assistant when it comes time to turn on the music, read out the conditions of outdoor games or make a riddle to the children.
Thus, the teacher has the opportunity to organize the educational process using a digital educational environment in accordance with the requirements and norms of SanPiN.
Can MEO be used on a telephone?
In accordance with the letter of Vladislav Remirovich, Director of the Research Institute of Hygiene and Health Protection of Children and Adolescents of the Scientific Center for Children’s Health of the Russian Academy of Medical Sciences Kuchma, the minimum diagonal of a student’s personal computer must be at least 10 inches.
There are also SanPins that regulate the size of the font acceptable for educational purposes on electronic devices. In this regard, it is not recommended to use the Mobile Electronic Education system on a mobile device that does not meet these requirements.
We care about the health of our users and monitor the compliance of the International Economic Organization with health standards. We are not developing our system for devices with a screen diagonal of less than 10 inches.
MEO are video tutorials?
No, MEO is a digital platform with GEF lesson scenarios that include outdoor games, interactive elements, educational cartoons, music for physical education sessions and much more.
Will digital replace the educator?
Of course not! In the modern educational process, the role of the teacher is only increasing, because he has more opportunities with the help of digital tools.

English city of Guildford | World Tourism
Occupying a lagoon formed by the partial erosion of the limestone deposits of the North Downs by the River Way, the city of Guildford (35 miles southwest of London) has a reputation for being dull. However, while certain parts of the city do suffer from a lack of wide streets and an abundance of shops, the city center has a certain charm. In the 13th century, Guildford was the only royal castle in Surrey, the remains of which have survived to this day.
At the beginning of the 17th century, the city became the main stop on the way from London to the flourishing docks of Portsmouth. The canalization of the River Way in 1648 strengthened the commercial position of the city, and the building of the Town Hall on the High Street was the most important milestone of that era. Within reach of the city are two properties of the National Trust – Clandon Park (Clandon Park) and Hatchlands Park (Hatchlands Park), as well as the gardens of the Royal Horticultural Society in Wisley (Wisley).
Arrival and accommodation in Guildford
Guildford’s main railway station, with regular trains from London (Waterloo Station) and Portsmouth, is above the river to the west of the city centre. Between the center and the railway station, at the western end of North Street, there is a bus station with regular services to London, Dorking, Portsmouth and Winchester. The main tourist office of the county is located at 14 Tunsgate – not far from the High Street, near the Town Hall. Free city tours depart from Tansgate Arch, below the Tourist Office. Internet access is at Quark’s on Jeffreys Passage at the end of the High Street.
All cheap hotels are located at some distance from the center. These include the four-room Atkinsons Guest House (129 Stoke Road) a 10-minute walk up the A-320 Walking Road. More luxurious rooms can be found at Jarvis Guildford (253 Upper High Street) and the 500-year-old log Angel Posting House and Livery (91 High Street). The closest youth hostel is in the village of Holmbury St Mary, 8 miles southeast of Guildford.
Hotel Mandolay
For good food, head south of the High Street to Café de Paris (35 Castle Street; closed on Sundays), a small, lively French-style restaurant serving inexpensive outdoor dining. Café Olivo (closed on Sundays) at 53 Quarry Street, housed in the city’s 16th-century charity pharmacy, specializes in delicious Italian cuisine and has a rooftop terrace.
Alternatively, you can go to Millbrook, to the pleasant Weyside waterfront pub, for homemade food. Also on Millbrook is one of the most famous theaters outside of London, the Yvonne Arnaud Theatre, where plays are often staged before they hit the London West End stage. The nearby Electric Theatre, housed in a former electrical factory on Onslow Street, is an innovative venue that combines music with theatre. The theater has an excellent cafe.
Guildford Landmarks
The sloping High Street is of great architectural interest. Several picturesque lanes and courtyards lead from it to neighboring North Street and south to the castle. If you look along the cobblestone pavement, you can not help but notice the wonderful gilded clock that beat the time for three centuries. This clock belongs to the City Hall. The elaborate Restoration façade conceals Tudor foundations.
A little further down the High Street is the Archbishop Abbot’s Hospital, an old people’s home built in 1619, with a magnificent Tudor red brick gate in front of it. You can take a quick look at the beautiful courtyard, but if you want to get inside and see the Flemish stained glass and oak beams, you need to join the tour. If you go back to the river, on the left, in house number 72, there is a Vaulted Cellar (which can also be seen during the tour), preserved from the 13th century.
The Norman Tower of Guildford Castle stands off the High Street, surrounded by flowered gardens. King John often used this castle as a palace (perhaps it was from here that he went to Runnymede Meadow to sign the Magna Carta in 1215). During the reign of Henry III, the castle was expanded and improved, after which it was not restored, and it collapsed to its present state. Below the castle is the Guildford Museum (Castle Arch, Quarry Street, Monday-Saturday 11. 00-17.00; admission free).
The museum showcases the pre-Christian culture of this region of England, with period pottery and fine jewelry. Upstairs are personal belongings of writer Lewis Carroll, author of the classic children’s books Alice in Wonderland and Through the Looking-Glass. A sculpture of Alice passing through a mirror stands in the castle park, and Carroll’s grave can be visited in the cemetery near Mount, on the other side of the river. The High Street slopes down to the rather inconspicuous River Wey. An important canal connecting this river and Godolming has been restored and turned into a scenic waterway. Now pleasure boats go through it.

Kindergarten “MIR” was opened in Dobrograd
Children refuse to leave the kindergarten, here they make their own choice and play what they like. And during the game they develop various skills, creativity, thinking, memory, communication. Kindergarten “MIR” opened in May. Now 17 children go to the new kindergarten, the team is ready to accept 13 more newcomers. Kindergarten manager Maria Guseva told us why MIR is a special kindergarten.
Children feel good here
Our kindergarten is the best place to develop a confident and happy child in a safe environment. My experience shows that it is impossible to force a child to go to kindergarten, and our children are looking forward to a new day in order to run to kindergarten classes as soon as possible, because every day is special for us. The opening took place quite recently, and we are gradually, step by step, creating a space of opportunities in which the child can freely play, choose and express himself.
How the day works
Kindergarten is open from 8:00, and in the first half of the day the classes are aimed at obtaining important knowledge and skills, as well as preparing for school. In the afternoon – free play, the child himself chooses what he is interested in: someone to design, someone to draw, someone to make music. Children need to be given the opportunity to explore everything that is around, to create conditions that will allow them to try and check everything on their own.
There are never too many walks
Now the weather is fine outside, the children walk three times a day. A lot of time on a walk is given to games, mostly mobile. They develop the basic movements, and relieve mental stress from classes. During their stay on the street, children get a lot of new experiences and knowledge about the world around them – the flora and fauna of Dobrograd.
Health care
There is a nurse in the kindergarten throughout the day. The first and most important thing is the morning filter, it is important for us that all the children in the garden are healthy, without signs of SARS and other diseases. When entering the kindergarten, we ask parents to bring a certificate from a pediatrician, as well as tell about the child’s health features: what he is allergic to, what is contraindicated, etc. Parents treat the necessary certificates with understanding, because they share our position. Taking care of children’s health is the most important thing.
From kindergarten to school
The entire educational model of the kindergarten and the school is built on the succession of levels, and when sending a child to the MIR kindergarten, parents can be sure that the school level is a continuation of the preschool program.

Duvet and pillow care – hand and machine wash, dry, air, fluff, store.
washing down duvets
Once you have decided to buy a duvet or pillow, you should think about the rules for caring for it. Even factory-made products from reliable manufacturers can be easily spoiled. With unreasonable care, the filler in warm duvets can turn into a shapeless mass.
How to wash a large duvet
Even the best duvets cannot be washed more than once a year. Before throwing the product into the washing machine, you need to study the tags. Bedding should not be soaked and the spin mode should not be set at high speeds. So that the fluff in the blanket does not gather into lumps, if you have tennis balls at home, you should put them in the drum of the washing machine. Suitable temperature for washing – no more than 40 ° C. Liquid powders should be used as a detergent. Avoid conditioner and bleach. All down products, whether down pillows or cloaks, are washed separately.
Hand wash duvets
If you decide to hand wash your duvet, remember that this is a very labor intensive process. In order not to spoil the product, you must strictly follow these rules:
Remove the filler from the pillowcase.
Put the down and feathers in a special canvas bag.
Dissolve detergent in warm water.
Thoroughly wash the bags of down several times, each time changing the solution to a less concentrated one.
Rinse the bags in clean water, changing the water until it remains clear after the procedure.
Pouched down or machine washed duvet must not be dried in direct sunlight.
Some products are labeled dry cleanable. In this case, you can not throw them into the machine or attempt to clean the blanket manually. By ignoring the icon on the label, you can ruin the bedding.
Additional care for duvets
Down can get wrinkled
Buying a duvet is only the first step on the way to a good night’s sleep. In addition to washing, the product also needs other care – airing and whipping. Pillows and duvets made of 100% goose feather or swan down are aired every month. To do this, you need to place the product in a well-ventilated area where direct sunlight does not fall, for example, on a balcony.
Air out the bedding more than once a month if the room has a high level of humidity. These measures will help prevent the smell of dampness and the formation of mold. If you ignore this type of care, you can earn an allergy or face other troubles.
It is important to beat the filling in duvets daily. Then they will always be fluffy and soft. Bedding, with proper care, will retain its properties throughout the entire operational period, which varies from 5 to 10 years.
How to store down duvets
If the room is very hot, you may not need a duvet. Then it needs to be stored away. A suitable place to place bedding is in a closet or well-ventilated pantry. Air access is a very important aspect in this case. Without it, the filler of duvets and pillows may undergo a process of decay or mold.
Down blankets must not be placed in vacuum bags, plastic bags or airtight covers. They are folded neatly, without being pressed into special covers that can be replaced with cotton fabric. Bedding can simply be wrapped in cotton and put away in the closet.
Are you ready to take care of your duvets and want to buy them at an affordable price? We are glad to see you in our online store! We guarantee high quality and decent service. Do you want to know more about us? Call +7 (495) 741 1592.
Qiaoxu Down
14 Dec 2021 06:00 AM
Guigang (China) Recently, the development of land plot B under the Qiaoxu – China Down Valley project is in full swing. Numerous heavy equipment was used to level the site for the construction of the feather-down products factory. According to the Propaganda Office of Gangnan District (Guigang City), the total land area provided by the layout plan of this facility is 69618.12 sq. m, on which it is planned to build two production workshops, occupying 40 thousand square meters. In April of this year, the facility built on plot A was put into operation, which marks a fundamental step towards the transformation and modernization of the feather and down industry in the Gannan area.
The flourishing period of the “Qiaoxu” feather-down industry in the Gannan District of Guigang City, Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region fell on the 80s of the last century. For more than 40 years, Qiaoxu’s feather and down industry has developed at a rapid pace, integrating high-quality down resources and relying on production segments that provide fast results with low capital investment, as well as flexible business and agricultural opportunities, laying the foundation for gaining fame ” Homeland of down in China”, “Base for high quality down production in China” and “Excellent feather-down industrial cluster in China”. Products are sold in Zhejiang, Shanghai and other regions and countries, including Japan, Korea, the United States and Europe, and the share of processing volume is 28% in China and 18% in the world.
In order to consolidate existing advantages, Qiaoxu City Government and Guangxi Qiaoxu Lotus Down Feather Group Co., Ltd. prepared to jointly launch the Qiaoxu – China Down Valley project to transform it into a new manufacturing enterprise using advanced technology to produce high value-added products through standardization, upgrading, internationalization and intellectualization. The total investment is expected to be 1.615 billion yuan, and the area planned for construction is 46.19ha. The project will be divided into three phases with a five-year construction period. To implement this project, a brand development plan is being actively pursued, under which more than 20 high-quality brands, such as Qiaoxu Down, Lotus Down Quilt and Lotus City Home Textile, are being developed. In order to implement this project, high technologies are also being introduced, including low-carbon environmental protection technology, wastewater treatment and processing, and achieving a high conversion rate of productive energy. In addition, the Yezzileaf Organic Breeding Base is being built to eliminate the peculiar smell of down products and then ensure the raw material supply of high-quality Qiaoxu down. As part of the project, a detergent-free production line and an advanced sterilization system were modernized and refined to eliminate the smell of products and improve their quality while maintaining the original ecological properties of down.

About the Provider
Stepping Stones Academy – Rosenberg TX Licensed Center – Child Care Program
Description: Lil Scholars was created, when I started looking into preschools for my own children. I found that there were very few quality preschool programs that taught reading, writing, and math by an accredited/licensed teacher. I was disappointed in the size of the classes and the curriculum used. I wanted my children to learn the academic and social skills that would prepare them for kindergarten and give them that head start they would need! When I found out that other parents felt the same way, I decided to open my own preschool.

Would never return to this facility nor recommend to others. We demanded proof of diaper changes as they were only recorded in 3-6 hours increments (plus our babies who’ve never had diaper rashes had the worst ones I’ve ever seen), owner said to take it up with her attorney. DHS is investigating at least one of their centers currently. They refused to accomodate a child covered under the Americans with disabilities act. The center owes us $442.50 for over 2 months now with no sign of a refund in sight. I wouldn’t trust these folks to watch my dogs.

Planning an Event: the 2016 National Governors Association Summer Meeting
By ls2group
LS2group was proud to be part of the event planning process for the 2016 National Governors Association (NGA) Summer Meeting. The event was a great opportunity to show governors around the country some of the establishments, food, industry, music, and scenery that make Iowa unique! LS2group worked with the National Governors Association and Governor Branstad’s office to plan many aspects of the four-day summer meeting in Des Moines July 14-17. The events were a great opportunity for our teams to come together to use many of our skills to create wonderful and memorable events for governors and their families. Wondering what goes into planning an event of this magnitude? Read on to find out!
Event planning
LS2group started the event planning process long before the event actually happened. Over a year ago, LS2group helped set up a non-profit organization with a board of directors to gain control and input into the planning of the event. It also helped ensure that the summer meeting was well thought out, multi-organised, and showcased the wide range of opportunities we have in Iowa.
After the creation of the non-profit organization LS2group, Marketing, the Department worked with the National Governors Association to create a unique logo, brand and slogan for the Iowa Summer Meeting. The “Unique Iowa” slogan was created to showcase the many unique companies, industries, and traditions that exist in Iowa that may not be obvious to those who do not call the state home.
Since we planned to bring together many high-profile people at these meetings and social events, safety was a top priority. LS2group has worked closely with the Iowa State Patrol, the Des Moines Police Department, and the Des Moines Fire Department to ensure the safety of all of our guests throughout the 2016 NGA Summer Meeting. Careful coordination and contingency plans at each community venue, the Iowa Events Center, and designated hotels were key. Security details included the presence of uniformed and ununiformed officers, sweeps of event sites, road closures, transportation of elected officials, and intelligence surveillance. The dedicated security personnel working with the planning team offered a fundamental perspective and was critical to the planning process and the overall success of the events for all.
With over a thousand guests and multiple venues for the four-day summer meeting, transportation was an essential component to the smooth running of the daily agenda. LS2group coordinated closely with the national transportation provider to contract to and from hotels, the Iowa Events Center, community event venues, and various other stops required by governors. We also coordinated with General Motors, which generously donated a fleet of more than 50 vehicles to be used as the governor’s and first family’s drive during the summer meeting. Pick-up and drop-off locations, bus routes, transfer schedules and more were all vital to ensuring that guests were not late on time every day.
With guests traveling to Iowa from all over the country and in some cases the world, offering great hospitality was a key priority for the 2016 NGA Summer Meeting committee. LS2group has worked closely with several local hotels as well as the Iowa Events Center to ensure NGA meeting attendees are properly taken care of during their stay. Hospitality details include coordinating and staffing hospitality tables at hotels and meeting rooms as a one-stop shop where guests can learn about details ranging from transportation, social events, and local restaurants and attractions. Our team has also ensured that well-placed and recognizable signage is used at each site to facilitate navigation for visitors.
In addition to hospitality, volunteers were a key component to the success and effectiveness of the 2016 NGA Summer Meeting. LS2group has developed a volunteer recruitment and training strategy. Our team recruited over 100 volunteers, coordinated volunteer shifts, communicated with volunteers, planned and delivered a training session with special involvement from the Governor and Ms. Branstad, and led volunteers on the ground during meetings.
Community Events
After months of planning the event, our team was thrilled to share every detail of the community events with the governors visiting Iowa. When planning events, our teams managed invitations, invitation responses, and credentials to create an accurate participant count for meal planning, parking, and other event-related details. In addition, each event featured a variety of branded items, signage to direct the governors to where they needed to be, and unique touches designed by the marketing and NGA teams.
The premiere took place in the beautiful Iowa State Capitol building – “Under the Golden Dome”. Governors and their spouses, Iowa sponsors, NGA corporate fellows, and more have come together in the heart of Des Moines’ East Village for a night of delicious food and entertainment from local artists, including harpist Laura Erickson, Tim Stop, and a special performance by the Des Moines Symphony Quartet. . The night ended with beautiful fireworks and a performance by the Isiserettes Drill and Drum Corp..
The second night we hosted two parties – including one at the Governor’s Residence, Terrace Hill. This reception featured the “Taste of Des Moines” as chefs from some of Des Moines’ finest restaurants teamed up to serve up delicious meals to the governors and other diners. The evening menu was created by Chef Enosh Kelly of Bistro Montage. The residence and grounds were open for guests to stroll in the evenings, with both indoor and outdoor entertainment from The Two Davids and The Fiddle Chics.
Guests also enjoyed the evening in the World Food Prize Laureates Hall. Situated on the Des Moines River and surrounded by beautiful gardens, the World Food Prize Building serves as a historic, educational, and inspirational destination for local and international visitors and honors Iowa native and Nobel Peace Prize winner Dr. Norman Borlaug. The evening included a live painting by artist William Butler, an offbeat performance by Metro Opera Des Moines, and roaming tunes from dazzling Brazilian 2wins.
On the final evening of the meeting, the guests gathered at the Iowa State Fairgrounds for a “mini”. Iowa State Fair which included many sweet treats, fairs, farm and farm equipment displays, and a special performance by Three Dog Night, known for such hits as “Joy to the World”, “Mama Told Me (Don’t Come)” and “One (it’s the loneliest number). ” Iowa commodity groups and other agricultural businesses were featured throughout the property with interactive exhibits and delicious food. The event included Sky Glider rides and several hot air balloons – Preview The Classic National Hot Air Balloon is held in Iowa every summer. A miniature butter cow was commissioned for this event to make it truly authentic at the Iowa State Fair!
Marriage and Family Events
Many governors have brought entire families with them to enjoy long weekends in Des Moines. In addition to the daily business meetings and evening social events that LS2group helped plan, we were also responsible for planning unique fun events for the governors’ spouses and families. Our programming goal, which we did in collaboration with First Lady Chris Branstad and the Terrace Hill staff, was to showcase the unique and amazing gems that Des Moines has to offer.
Spouses and guests of the Governors were treated to an incredible behind the scenes tour of Meredith Corporation where they learned about Showcase Kitchen, Meredith Test Gardens, the history of Meredith Corporation and all of Meredith’s brands. Home décor, gardening, magazine publishing, and culinary specialists spoke to the couple about their work and how these Des Moines-based experts are helping shape trends across the country.
The group also enjoyed a day at the magnificent Greater Des Moines Botanic Gardens to discuss how first couples can support children and families in their states. Dr. George Belitzos and Andrew Allen, former and current CEOs of Youth and Shelters (YSS), shared their personal stories and talked about the important work YSS does for Iowa youth. The discussion concluded with a visit by the Governors’ spouses to the state-of-the-art YSS facility in downtown Des Moines, which is a national model of excellence.
Guests were also encouraged to enjoy the city on their own with advice and guidance from those who call Des Moines home. We have paired each governor’s family with a Des Moines Ambassador who is a local who is knowledgeable about the city and can offer advice, recommendations and answer any questions. In partnership with the Des Moines Convention and Visitors Bureau, we have been able to offer guests special offers and discounts on entertainment throughout the city with the Des Moines Fun Pass. Through this experience, we were also able to create a special East Village shopping subscription that included discounts from Allspice, The Permanent Collection, Dorninck, and J. Brownlee, who are our neighbors in the East Village.
Our team also provided coordination and assistance to various groups and organizations with receptions held around regularly scheduled social events, spouse program events, and identified concierge opportunities. During business meetings held at the Iowa Events Center, LS2group worked with various organizations to place displays during the business program to highlight Iowa’s history and innovation. The displays featured the Universities of Iowa, Jefferson Highway, Home Base Iowa, the Iowa Cultural Corridor, and STEM programs.
The 2016 NGA Summer Meeting would not have been possible without the generous donations of our sponsors. We are not only fortunate to live in a state with such successful companies and business owners, we are grateful for their generosity and patience in planning and preparing for these massive events.
Media Coordination
In addition to covering Iowa in front of NGA meeting attendees, we worked with the NGA’s communications team, as well as Governor Terry Branstad’s communications team, to showcase meetings and events for local and national media.
As part of the NGA’s overall rebranding, we’ve been working to transform the annual press event that kicks off the annual summer meeting from a traditional press conference to a very successful moderated panel. Our team coordinated David Jepsen, Director of the Paul Simon Institute of Public Policy at Southern Illinois University Carbondale, to moderate a discussion between Governor Branstad, NGA Chairman Governor Gary Herbert, and NGA Co-Chair Governor Terry McAuliffe.
The discussion showcased Governor Herbert’s “The States: Finding Solutions, Better Lives” initiative, touched on topics on the weekend business agenda, and allowed the local and national media in attendance to ask questions of the governors.
Our team also coordinated with the NGA and the Governor’s Office to provide the media with an inside look at social events and business sessions every day with “media packs” including a video bounce from the previous day’s meetings and events, as well as photos from Christopher Maharry, all highlight the unique gatherings each evening at the Iowa State Capitol, World Food Prize Laureates Hall, Terrace Hill, and the Iowa State Fairgrounds.
Community Service
Over the weekend, to help the Iowa community, governors, the state, and volunteers worked with the Outreach Program to pack 50,000 meals for the Food Bank of Iowa. On the final day, a press event was held to celebrate efforts to help families fight food insecurity.
Months of event planning and partnerships with many people from Metro and Iowa resulted in the successful 2016 NGA Summer Meeting in Des Moines. Our team will be happy to help you with your next event – big or small.

Personal experience. Fulbright Internship in the USA
A Fulbright Scholar for English Teachers talks about her internship in America.
About my studies
I came to study and work in the US on the Fulbright Scholarship Program for English Teachers (Foreign Language Teaching Assistant).
The program involves teaching the Russian language and culture of their country in an American college for 20 hours a week, as well as teaching at least two subjects per semester. The program covers all expenses during all stages of participation in the competition and the year of study in the United States.
All program fellows are assigned to different colleges. I received a placement at Grinnell College in Iowa. Grinnell is one of the private liberal arts colleges called Liberal Arts colleges in America.
The college is very wealthy and can afford to provide financial assistance to about 85% of its students, who study here in 26 areas.
Grinnell has a great campus with two great libraries, 12 academic buildings, 19 residence halls and 7 student houses, a canteen, a bar and grill, an arts center, and one of my favorite places on campus, the sports center.
In addition, there is also a stadium, football and baseball fields, 6 indoor tennis courts, an indoor athletics track, a swimming pool and much more. At the beginning of the semester, the teacher introduces students to the plan (Syllabus) and deadlines for the submission of written work, which follows throughout the semester.
When I tell my American friends which college I work and study at, most refer to our college as an educational institution with a very high educational standard.
And I boldly assert that my classmates and students to whom I teach Russian are real stars and intellectuals. Great attention is paid to the independent work of the student.
The teacher acts as a coordinator, curator, leading the lesson in the form of a discussion on the materials that students should familiarize themselves with before the start of the lesson.
The guys are engaged not only in studies, which, believe me, “takes” the lion’s share of our time, but also actively spend time outside of school: there are about 250 student organizations in Grinnell for every taste and 20 sports that you can get involved in.
Almost 1/3 of Grinnell students are athletes and participate in competitions in various sports, or study music, sing in a choir, put on performances, work, “volunteer”.
For example, two female students I know volunteer to help inmates prepare for the final exam.
Preparation and Admission
The Fulbright Grant competition lasts a year. For me, the most important step was the process of preparing and collecting documents. I believe that this stage is the most responsible, since many people are eliminated at it.
At this stage, it is important to write a convincing and original motivation letter, to support your application with letters of recommendation. The main thing here is to show your uniqueness, to prove that it was you who was so lacking in the international Fulbright family.
At the second stage of the competition, all semi-finalists take the TOEFL language test, as well as interviews with representatives of the Fulbright program in Russia, a participant in the program of previous years and a representative of the US State Department.
In winter, the finalists are informed about the successful completion of the competition, after which it is necessary to collect the next package of documents and prepare a medical record. Fulbright assists in obtaining visas and other documents.
The most exciting stage is the distribution to colleges. After distribution, fellows are in direct contact with their college supervisor.
Before leaving, there is a meeting with representatives of the American embassy in Moscow for the so-called pre-departure orientation, at which fellows are told about the main points related to culture, life and study in America so that they can better adapt to the new environment.
Upon arrival in the US, before entering their college, fellows from all over the world are assigned to major US universities for summer orientation. I was among the lucky ones who got to Stanford for a few days.
Byt
At the beginning of the year, all new students and language assistants go through an orientation, during which they can complete all the necessary documents, open a bank account, get a tax number, etc.
Under the terms of my grant, I receive funding from the Fulbright program and from Grinnell. The college provided me with housing in one of the student houses called “Russian House”.
I live here with students studying Russian. The college also provides me with a full meal-plan, which includes three meals a day in the student cafeteria.
You can also cook in the kitchen at the Russky Dom, as most of the guys who don’t eat in the canteen do: it’s cheaper for them. Life in Iowa is not expensive.
The main expenses while living in the US are travel and endless online shopping. Since the college is located in a very small town, there are no special frills.
We drive to nearby major cities, Des Moines or Iowa City, in a car that we bought with friends at the beginning of the semester. You can also rent a car right on campus.
Free time
Grinnell has very long holidays. As the students explained to me, they are much longer here than in many other colleges, since the study is very intense. So, during the holidays I travel. In the fall, I spent a week in Chicago.
Visited friends in Iowa for Thanksgiving. In mid-December, a conference for Fulbright Scholars was held in Washington, where we attended many trainings, received certificates, and shared our impressions after the first semester of work.
After the conference we went with friends to celebrate Christmas and New Year in Philadelphia, New York, Miami Beach and Key West in Florida. I’m still making plans for spring break. In my free time, I meet friends – other language assistants or students.
Of course we go to parties every weekend. It will be very difficult for me to convey on paper the impressions and atmosphere that prevails at student parties. Guys, you need to be in an American college to appreciate this! I love to watch the competitions of our “Pioneers” – Grinnell Pioneers, when they play at home.
An interesting fact about my college for basketball fans. Last semester, our team’s defenseman Jack Taylor scored 138 points in 36 minutes of playing time, setting a new NCAA record! Sure enough, the Grinnell Pioneers beat Faith Baptist Bible 179-104. I also go to the gym and pool or sleep.
Country and culture
This is my first visit to the USA, but, oddly enough, I did not experience the slightest culture shock. Probably, this is all very individual. I travel a lot and meet all kinds of people.
Before, I often heard that it is very difficult to make friends with the Americans, they say, they do not let them into their souls. I would like to debunk this myth. Here I met charming and kind people whom I can call my friends, and I know that this relationship will not end when I return to Russia.
You may consider this a lyric, but I believe that if a person is open to the world and people, accepts every day and every new meeting as a gift, remaining an optimist in any situation and trying to see only good in any person, everything returns to him a hundredfold .
With such an attitude towards the world, it will be all yours, since both your eyes and your whole being will glow with goodness. How not to make friends with such a person?! I fell in love with America, and I will definitely return here: after all, I have not yet walked around Central Park in warm weather.
After school
How I love this college, students, teachers, colleagues and how good it is that I will be in my dear Grinnell for another four months! The fact that I came to the USA under the Fulbright program is very valuable and honorable.
This is a big plus for my “resume” and professional growth. Here my vision of the dissertation, which I am writing in Russia, has changed, new development prospects have appeared.
Tips
An interesting section is “Tips”. Can I give at least one? I think no. I can only share my thoughts. Do what your heart is in. If you want to study, look for competitions and grants, participate in them.

I have 2 English bulldogs. The lovable potatoes are a female, 8yo, and male, 2yo.
Their personality is laid back and lazy most of the time but when it’s time to play they play just as hard.
They need feed twice a day and regular potty breaks. one walk a day is usually enough. They get meds once a day with food and some grooming will be needed for the wrinkles.
When they meet other animals, they are pretty chill. Mindy is pretty dominant though and may bark if she feels they are invading her space. They don’t really interact with cats.
To get to our home, you can park and the backside of the building.

We are looking for someone to help my disabled mom train and care for her 5-month-old German shepherd. Schedule is very flexible and job responsibilities are flexible. We eventually will be training him to do some service animal tasks. My mom struggles to train in the basics, and the dog trainer we were working with is short-staffed. Main job would be training and some walks. If you could help with grooming, and waste clean up an extra bonus but not required. Was thinking of starting with several days a week. We will continue to want a dog walker at least 1-2 times per week after training.

Physical punishment in American schools

The school year has just begun, and the educator and parent communities are already in a fever: an unusual initiative has been taken by several public charter schools in the state of Georgia, sending parents to sign a consent form for the use of corporal punishment in schools. About a third of the 100 parents who returned the signed forms agreed to have their children spanked for disobedience.
– The opinions of parents were divided – from “Finally, it’s time” to “In our time, this is completely unacceptable,” one of the schools reported. – We would like to note that parents can agree that we use such a disciplinary measure or refuse, this is entirely their choice.
One of the schools, called the School of Innovation, caters for children from Kindergarten to sixth grade. The new physical punishment policy was approved by the school’s board of directors over the summer. This is supposed to be the way to punish those students who repeatedly commit serious offenses. In a letter to parents, the school administration writes: “The student will be in the office behind closed doors. He will have to put his hands on his knees or on furniture, and he will be hit several times (no more than three) on the pope. Before subjecting a student to such a punishment, the school administration will issue three warnings to the student, and then contact the parents to confirm their consent again.
Schools that sent out such letters claim that the problem is not a lack of discipline at all: children go through a strict selection process in charter schools and study there is much more difficult than in a regular public school. At the same time, such schools have very high expectations not only in terms of learning, but also in the behavior of students. Pranks that are allowed in a regular school may be considered unacceptable in a charter school.
To hit or not to hit
“That’s crazy to me,” says David Silberstein, a Georgia resident whose children go to one of the charter schools. – Grandfather said that his father flogged him for the slightest misconduct, but that was a long time ago, and mores in a small Ukrainian town in the 20s of the last century were simpler. My parents did not touch me with a finger and I prefer the same method of education. To be honest, I was generally sure that spanking children had long been banned in American schools, for me it was something from books like The Adventures of Tom Sawyer, when a teacher could hit children with a ruler or rods.
The U.S. Supreme Court ruled in 1977 that physical punishment in schools is… legal unless prohibited by local federal governments.
– This is absurd, – David is surprised. – If I beat my children, then social workers will come to me with a check. And in schools they, it turns out, can be punished?
According to statistics published on the website of the non-profit organization World Corporal Punishment Research (Corpun), only 31 states (plus the District of Columbia and Puerto Rico) officially prohibit corporal punishment in schools. So far they are allowed at 19states: Arizona, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Idaho, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Missouri, North Carolina, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Wyoming, Alabama, Arkansas and Mississippi, and in the last three, corporal punishment does are a widespread practice. Two states, North Carolina and Texas, give parents the right to exempt their children from physical punishment.
These laws do not apply to private schools, which operate under their own charters. Corpun experts note that private schools are less limited in matters of punishment and adhere to stricter discipline than public schools. In private schools in Alaska, California, Illinois, Michigan, Nevada, New York, Utah, and Washington, physical punishment is used even though it is prohibited in public schools. Only in the states of New Jersey and Iowa is it illegal to spank children in private schools at the legislative level. Some boarding schools also physically punish children, especially in military schools.
Bullying Parenting
Based on posts on parenting forums, most American parents have a negative attitude towards the idea of physical punishment.
“It’s not education, it’s bullying,” writes Debra Wilkinson of Nebraska. – Pupils will be afraid of the teacher, they will not want to go to school. They will learn out of fear. At school, the child should enjoy learning and know that it is safe here.
Russian-speaking parents, on the contrary, were divided in their opinions.
– It’s no secret that physical education was widespread in our homeland, – says Georgy Kuznev, an immigrant from Belarus. – Grandfathers were brought up like that, fathers, us. I was “fought” with a belt for any wrongdoing, nothing, I grew up as a man, got a profession, came to another country, found a job. This kind of upbringing only builds character.
– Just think, spank a couple of times, – echoes him Elena Osipova, an immigrant from Russia. – This is fine. Sometimes you repeat a hundred times, and then you give it to the pope – and the child immediately understood everything. Nobody talks about beatings to the point of bloodshed. It is even useful to knock several times for educational purposes.
The problem with physical punishment of a child is that each parent understands it differently. Even American social services are at a loss as to whether it is okay to spank a child.
– In fact, parents have the right to spank their child, it is not punishable, – says Irina M. , an employee of the New York social service. – But easily, that is, without leaving bruises. If bruises were found on a child, it means that the blow was excessive, and our specialists will deal with such a family. Of course, belt strikes are unacceptable in principle, only a light slap with the hand.
However, do not forget that it is difficult to calculate the force of a blow, and what seems to parents to be a light spanking, the child feels as unbearable pain. In addition, physical punishment is always morally humiliating.
– By spanking a child, parents thus declare their own mistakes in upbringing, – says child psychologist Ekaterina Vetrova. – As a rule, physical punishment is resorted to on emotions, when it seems that there is no other way to influence the child. In fact, it is your fault and your problem as a parent if you do not know how to approach your own baby. It must be remembered that violence always breeds only violence. You beat your child – he will beat him with almost one hundred percent guarantee. And now you are already raising a future “abuser”, who can take a swing at his own life partner, and at his children, and even at you, parents who have already become old.
According to research from the University of Texas, young children, between one and five years of age, are most likely to experience physical punishment. More than a third of American parents admit to slapping their baby’s butt or hand. In kindergartens in various states, until recently, this form of punishment was considered acceptable.
– Studies conducted by American psychologists and doctors in 2009 clearly showed the connection between corporal punishment and inappropriate behavior of the child in the future, – says Ekaterina Vetrova. “Children who have been beaten grow up aggressive, do not respect other people’s boundaries and are capable of cruel treatment of others. Unfortunately, it must be admitted that for many Russian-speaking immigrants, especially those who come from small provincial towns, where they still live according to the “house building way”, this way of life is the norm. Both at work and as a mother herself, who hired different nannies for her kids, I repeatedly met with such people. The most common punishment in American gardens is the “time out,” when the child is removed from group activities and put on a chair to think about his behavior. In many “Russian” kindergartens, which are so popular with immigrants, teachers calmly use physical punishment.
How to choose a kindergarten and be sure that your child will not be beaten there?
“First of all, pay attention to licensing documents,” says the owner of a network of kindergartens from Chicago. – On the education of educators. Of course, the presence of video cameras. Now in most kindergartens there are cameras that you can connect to and watch through a mobile connection or watch what the children are doing from the hall. If you prefer to hire a nanny, install cameras in your home. So your child will be safe.

Is it worth flying charter flights – Moscow 24, 07/24/2019
This week, more than 500 Russian tourists were unable to fly to Turkey from Moscow’s Sheremetyevo Airport on time due to technical reasons. Passengers were waiting for their departure for more than 16 hours. Non-scheduled flights have long been overgrown with various myths: poor service, old planes, unreliability. We talk about the advantages of charter flights, as well as the risks of such flights for passengers.

On Monday, July 22, charter flight ZF-9007 Moscow (Sheremetyevo) – Antalya of Azur Air was supposed to take off at 2:50 Moscow time. 536 passengers planned to go abroad, of which 107 were children. However, after registration, people saw on the scoreboard information about the postponement of the departure time to 11:40 for technical reasons.
“Sheremetyevo Handling, as a ground operator for Azur air, in connection with the postponement of the flight, provided passengers with food and drinks in accordance with the FAPs (if the flight is delayed for more than two hours, passengers are provided with drinks, more than four hours – food)”, – said Public Relations Director Sheremetyeva Anna Zakharenkova.
She also said that people were boarded at 12:00, but according to the airline’s second decision, “for technical reasons, the aircraft was returned to the parking lot at 12:24”. And the passengers were disembarked and transported by bus to Terminal F.
In total, people waited for their departure for more than 16 hours. According to representatives of the airline, in order to send tourists from Sheremetyevo to their destination, they had to use a reserve aircraft. In addition, “part of the passengers, primarily with children, were asked to fly a little earlier, for this we delivered them to Vnukovo Airport on our own,” Anastasia Matyushina, director of the information policy and communications department of Azur Air, explained to Moscow.
As a result, the reserve aircraft took off for Antalya at 21:08, and at 20:27 from Vnukovo. At the same time, the problem with the departure from Sheremetyevo affected not only passengers in Moscow. In Turkey, about 500 Russian tourists also could not go home, because their liner never arrived. Fortunately, all problems were solved in one day. On the evening of July 22, Matyushina reported that Azur Air sent all passengers of previously delayed flights to Antalya and Moscow.
What is a charter?

Today, charter flights are mainly used to organize flights to resorts. “Therefore, any force majeure associated with charters, such as the situation with Azur Air customers, almost always acquires a wide public resonance – after all, we are talking about tourists,” said Roman Gusarov, an aviation industry expert, in an interview with Moscow 24.
Most often, this type of air transportation is used during the season when there are not enough planes plying regular flights. “The charter is organized for mass destinations, where the tourist flow has already been generated, for example, to Turkey, to Greece, to the island and mainland parts, to Southeast Asia,” Yury Barzykin, 24th Vice President of the Russian Union of Travel Industry (PCT), told Moscow .
It is for this reason that ATOR noted a potential increase in charter flights in August this year by 11 percent compared to the same period last year.
From June 15 to July 14, 2019, 4,060 charters carried tourists to and from resorts. And in August it is planned to make 4,200 such flights.
At the same time, a charter is necessary for transportation to those places where regular flights are simply not organized. “This mainly applies to sea holidays, to the islands – regular flights do not fly to exotic destinations. For example, Phukok Island in Vietnam – only a charter runs there,” Dmitry Gorin, Vice President of the Association of Tour Operators of Russia (ATOR), explained in an interview with the portal. For the same reason, a charter can fly to popular tourist destinations, but out of season. For example, on the islands, when it is cold there and there are practically no people who want to bask in the sun at a temperature of plus 10 degrees.
A charter is a flight booked by a travel company or other legal entity on the basis of a lease. They are of several types: for example, a split – when tourists overcome part of the way on a regular flight, or a charter with sludge – when the plane delivers passengers to their destination, waits for them, and then takes them back. However, the most popular type of transportation is the shuttle: the plane constantly runs between two points for a certain time, delivering and picking up passengers.
Most airlines carry out charter flights – Aeroflot, Ural Airlines, S7, Yakutia, Utair, NordStar Airlines. However, there are carriers focused only on this type of flight: Pegas Fly, Azur Air, I FLY. The latter most often either belong to large tour operators, or are in close cooperation with them.
We have all federal tour operators operating charter airlines, their fleet is from 20 to 40 aircraft.
Dmitry Gorin
Vice-President of the Association of Tour Operators of Russia
In the vast majority of cases, tickets for such flights are sold in one package with a tour package. “The buyer is always notified whether he is flying on a charter or not,” Barzykin notes. “At the same time, you can always ask the tour operator to purchase tickets for a regular flight, if, of course, they fly there and if there are tickets.”
Benefits and losses for tour operators
Photo: TASS/Sergey Bobylev
The “airline-travel agency-tourist” relationship has been established for a long time, and each side derives its own bonuses from them, but also has certain risks.
For holiday companies, a charter is a great way to make extra profit. According to Barzykin, this type of flight is formed where there is a large tourist demand. It is the growth of the flow that dictates the supply. When demand reaches a certain level, those who produce tourism products and aviation products are also looking for options on how to monetize this demand for themselves,” added Alexander Osaulenko, director of the Turpomoshch association.0005
Thus, according to the needs of the buyer, the tour operator forms a certain number of service packages, which include accommodation, transfers, and flights. In this case, the company can buy a block of seats on a regular flight for its customers. But during the season it is almost impossible to get a sufficient number of seats. Firstly, there are a lot of players in the tourism market, and secondly, the schedule of regular flights is determined by a constant flow of passengers and often does not take into account seasonality.
This makes it easier for travel companies to turn to charters. The company buys the aircraft and is responsible for its filling.
For an airline, this type of cooperation can be called beneficial. According to Gusarov, she “sells the aircraft” at the price in which the minimum profit has already been invested. Thus, the carrier is deprived of financial risks if all tickets are not sold.
For a travel company, this question is a bit more complicated. “Tickets for charter flights are sold in service packages. And the travel agency receives the most profit just from the sale of such a ticket,” Gusarov explained. According to him, the company is interested in buying the cheapest tickets in order to make the tour package as attractive as possible in terms of price.
However, on the other hand, the tour operator, in case of charter transportation, assumes, in addition to bonuses, all the risks. First of all, if the company cannot organize a fixed number of tour packages and sell all the tickets, it will also bear the costs. In addition, in case of force majeure situations, for example, flight delays or aircraft breakdowns, tourists should file claims with the tour operator.
The travel agency can in no way affect the speed of providing a reserve flight if the main one has a breakdown, but is obliged to bear all the costs of customer service if there is a flight delay. Food, drinks, hotel – these are all financial losses. In the event of force majeure, which is the fault of the carrier, compensation payments again fall on the shoulders of the travel company.
“All expenses must be covered by the travel agency, because the tourist has an agreement not with the airline, but with the travel agency, which undertook to deliver him, give him a rest and return him back – the entire package. Accordingly, all responsibilities for taking care of the buyer are assumed travel agency, as well as all possible claims from him,” Gusarov explained.
Pros and cons for tourists
Photo: depositphotos/ romrodinka
Several myths about charter flights are widespread among the inhabitants: poor service, old planes, unreliability. Some of them are easy to dispel.
First of all, you need to understand that the transport always passes a pre-flight check and is in good condition – otherwise it is simply forbidden to fly on it by law.
And shabby liners can be found on both charter and scheduled flights – it all depends on which aircraft the airline owns.
But in the case of charter flights, older planes can indeed be encountered more often. “These aircraft are leased,” explained the executive director of the branch agency “AviaPort”, “at the same time, you have to pay for the aircraft even in those periods when they are idle or are being serviced. ” And according to Gusarov, the carrier really pays less for old planes than for new ones. “This does not affect the flight safety or the quality of transportation in any way. But such liners can be loaded more often in the summer and at the same time not suffer heavy losses when they go for maintenance for a long time after the season,” Gusarov explained.
Understand what you want. The travel agency is interested in low ticket prices, since its main product is a place, not a transport. A passenger may well survive two hours in a cabin with worn seats, but, conditionally, the hotel and the sea compensate for everything. From the point of view of a tourist, he is also interested in the low cost of a tour package, which is based not least on the cost of the flight.
Roman Gusarov
aviation industry expert
For the same reason, often a charter flight does not provide meals and free blankets. Tour operators try to save as much as possible on the transfer, compensating for this with recreational conditions. At the same time, Barzykin claims that the client can always express his preferences, and the travel agency will definitely try to satisfy them. The only question is the price.
As for unreliability, there is much to discuss here. First of all, hearing the phrase “charter flight”, passengers are afraid that they might not fly. But such a situation is completely excluded. “Responsibility is always borne by the tour operator who orders the charter flight,” recalls Barzykin.
A tourist cannot fly away. But he certainly can lose time. The travel agency will necessarily provide a transfer to a reserve board through the airline or will be able to transfer passengers to other aircraft.
Fly away – tourists will definitely fly away. But charter flights cannot boast of a clear schedule. “In general, they don’t have such a thing as a schedule – it’s more for regular flights. Charters have a departure day and a time by which all passengers must arrive at the airport,” Gusarov explained.
At the same time, the plane has time to take off. And charter flights often do not fit into it. Therefore, the situation is monitored daily by the Federal Air Transport Agency and Rostourism.
Out of 4,060 charters that flew between June 15 and July 14, 2019, 127 departed late: half of them left for their destination with a delay of two hours, 17 aircraft were three hours behind the scheduled time, 13 liners were late for four hours, 11 flights for five hours, and 33 for six hours or more.
“Three years ago there was a problem that 30 percent of all charter flights were delayed,” Gorin recalled. “But today, the delay ratio in June-July was only three percent of all flights performed.” According to the interlocutor of Moscow 24, irregular flights have indeed become clearer. “Since December 2018, punctuality regimes have been introduced, and an airline that delays 10 percent of flights by more than two hours has its flight programs restricted,” ATOR Vice President explained.
According to experts, the vast majority of travel packages now include charter flights. This is a proven practice, you should not be afraid of it. Passenger safety is always a priority, regardless of the type of flight or airline. But there are also relative disadvantages, for example, expectation or comfort, which may well be compensated by the end point of the trip. “A tourist should always understand what he wants: what is a priority, where he is ready to save money, depending on his wishes, and you need to purchase a tour package, there are a lot of variations today,” Barzykin concluded.

21 Social Development Examples – Early Childhood to Adults (2023)
Social development refers to the growth in a person’s social skills as they grow. In childhood, examples of social development include emerging abilities to cooperate, see others’ perspectives, and develop social responsibility.
There are several prominent theories regarding social development, including Bandura’s (1977) social learning theory, Erickson’s (1993) theory of psychosocial development, and the work of Bowlby (1958) and Ainsworth (Ainsworth, et al., 1978) on attachment theory:
Bandura’ssocial learning theory emphasizes the role of observation, specifying that children learn about social relations by watching the role models in their life.
Erikson’spsychosocial theory is centered on the role of the self and how the ego learns to cope with various demands in the social world.
Bowlby and Ainsworth‘s Attachment Theory identified different types of social and emotional bonds between the infant and caregiver and how that affects social and personality development.
Kohlberg’s stages of moral development which explore development of social responsibility.
Although there are several perspectives regarding social development, developmental theorists tend to believe that all children go through stages of social development; while sociocultural theorists like Bandura, Vygotsky, and Rogoff argue that the path of development depends on your social and cultural contexts more than pre-set stages.
Social Development Examples
The social smile (from birth): An infant responds to its mother’s embrace with a smile and outreached arms.
Signaling for help (from birth): A baby cries when it wants to be hugged or fed because that is its only form of communication at that age.
Preconventional morality (birth to age 9): A child’s understanding of good or bad is related to whether there is a reward or punishment for behavior. Heading into their school years, the child also begins to realize rules can be modified if they’re mutually beneficial for themselves and others.
Following social norms (Ages 3 and up): Young people start realizing that their society expects certain behaviors from them, which it defines as ‘normal’. By participating in normative behaviors, young people can get social respect
Emerging non-verbal communication (4 to 10 months): A baby points to a toy on the other side of the room while being held to indicate where he wants to go, using the pointing gesture to communicate.
Imitating carers and role models (24 months and up): A child grader carefully watches how dad prepares breakfast and then mimics those actions at school during free-play time; children learn by imitating parents.
Independence (24 months and up): A preschooler refuses to let go of his mother while being dropped-off at school in the morning. After six weeks, as he develops self-confidence, he is starting to walk into new situations without looking back at his mother.
Emerging parallel play (4 years and up): One toddler sits next to her older brother and plays quietly, but does not interact or communicate with him, demonstrating parallel play.
Emerging ability to take turns (4 years and up): The teacher has to separate two preschoolers because they are fighting over toys. Six months later, the two are seen taking turns with the toys.
Associative play (4 and up): At about 4 years of age, children playing near each other may begin to chat and mimic one another while playing, but tend not to play cooperatively yet.
Cooperative play skills (4 ½ and up): From about 4 and a half years of age through to adulthood, people demonstrate cooperative skills during play. They may take on roles while a playing game and, when older, play team sports with agreed-upon rules.
Learning to lose graciously (5 and up): Billy likes to compare how fast he runs with his classmates. When he is faster, he feels proud, but when he loses, he can get a bit sulky. After lots of practice and some maturing, he still feels bad when he loses, but doesn’t outwardly show it.
Emerging leadership skills (6 and up): Jenna enjoys giving instructions to her classmates when they are playing house or engaged in role-playing.
Overcoming egocentrism (7 and up): Between ages 7 and adulthood, children slowly develop the ability to empathize with others which helps them understand others more easily.
Emerging emotional self-regulation (7 and up): The act of learning to identify and regulate your own emotions.
Emerging conventional morality (9 and up): From about 9 years of age, children start to see rules from the perspective of social order. They develop a sense that right and wrong is not about them personally but about maintaining social order for the good of everyone.
Developing a personal identity (10 and up): Through their teen years, young people try on different social identities and start figuring out what subcultural groups they feel most comfortable in. Erik Erikson argues that at this age the key crisis is how to develop a coherent identity and find out where you fit in the social order.
Learning to give and accept constructive feedback (12 and up): In our teen years, we learn about constructive criticism and how it’s good for our development. We stop resenting people who give us feedback, but start to realize it can be for our own good.
Social responsibility (12 and up): Heading into the mid-teen years, many young people develop a sense that they have a responsibility to the marginalized, poor, downtrodden, and even the environment.
Emerging postconventional morality (15 and up): Into adulthood, out social development continues. We realize that morality and values are dependent upon social contexts, but may still come to the conclusion that there are ideas about human rights that cross all cultures – what we call cultural universals.
Developing a leadership style (15 and up): As we experience leadership roles in adulthood, we develop our own leadership style, which could be anything from authoritarian to a democratic style.
Picking your battles (15 and up): As part of the development of conflict resolution skills, John realizes that it’s not worth arguing with his girlfriend over something as insignificant as which flavored ice cream to buy.
Emerging altruism (15 and up): An advanced social skill, altruism contradicts several theories of social interactions by demonstrating how people can forego their own wellbeing for that of strangers.
Social Development Theories
There is a range of social development theories that come up with examples of how people develop as social beings. Generally, we can split these into the ‘nature’ and ‘nurture’ camps.
The nature theories argue that people develop their social skills in a generally fixed set of stages.
The nurture theories don’t look at stages of development based on age. Rather, they look at how social skills develop as a result of social interactions.
Nature: Stage-Based Theories of Social Development
The following theories explain social development (at times, along with other types of development such as emotions and morality) as a series of fixed linear stages:
1. Attachment Theory
Attachment theory explores how children develop their social skills in four stages that cover the first two years of their lives.
Each stage reveals the development of the child’s independence and changing reliance on the parent:
Pre-attachment (newborn to 6 weeks): Babies demonstrate complete reliance upon the caregivers for their wellbeing, but don’t tend to show preference for one parent over another.
Attachment in making (6 weeks to 6-8 months): The baby and parent bond, and the baby develops an increasing attachment to its primary caregiver.
Clear-cut attachment (6-8 months to 18-24 months): The parents and baby develop such a strong bond that independent social interaction is very minimal. The baby is highly reliant on the parent socially and emotionally.
Formation of reciprocal relationships (24 months+): Toddlers slowly overcome separation anxiety as they get more experience with independence and self-efficacy.
2. Psychosocial Theory
Erikson proposes a series of stages of psychosocial development. In each stage, there is a core social and psychological conflict that must be overcome.
Stage 1 (0-1 years): Trust vs mistrust. The child learns to trust its parents or else it may struggle to trust people throughout its life.
Stage 2 (1-3 years): Autonomy vs. shame & doubt. Infants need to develop autonomy. Parents should encourage them or else they may develop a sense of self-doubt.
Stage 3 (3-6 years): Initiative vs guilt. Children should be encouraged to take initiative during play or else they may develop a sense of guilt.
Stage 4 (6-12 years): Industry vs inferiority. If they are belittled or teased for their creativity, they may develop a sense of social inferiority.
Stage 5 (12-19 years): Identity vs role confusion. Adolescents attempt to create a social identity. They try on different identities. If they don’t find a comfortable sense of self they will struggle to form a clear identity throughout their lives.
Stage 6 (20-25 years): Intimacy vs isolation. Young adults focus on developing an intimate relationship. If they fail to develop healthy relationships, they will feel a sense of social isolation.
Stage 7 (26-64 years): Generativity vs stagnation. In adulthood, the main focus is on their life projects like raising children. If they feel successful, they will feel accomplished.
Stage 8 (65 years – death): Ego identity vs despair. In our final decades, we reflect on our lives. The core challenge in this stage is whether we feel content with our lives or a sense of despair.
3. Moral Development Theory
Kohlberg’s moral development theory has many elements of social development throughout the framework.
The six stages of the theory are outlined below:
Stage 1: Obedience/Punishment Orientation
For young children, morality is not about social awareness but about reward and punishment.
Stage 2: Individualism
Children are aware of others and their competing interests, but still see the world from an egocentric perspective.
Stage 3: Establishing Interpersonal Relationships
Moral decisions are made based upon social norms and the desire to fit in.
Stage 4: Maintaining Social Order
Students develop a greater awareness of the needs of society. They see morality as a matter of maintaining social order.
Stage 5: Social Contract And Individual Rights
The individual understands everyone has rights that should be respected.
Stage 6: Universal Principles
People who reach Stage 6 develop complex moral frameworks with an understanding that morality is difficult to define and changes based upon contexts. Nevertheless, they develop a sense of universal rights that transcend cultures.
Note: Stages 1 and 2 are considered the preconventional morality stages. Stages 3 and 4 represent conventional morality, and Stages 5 and 6 represent postconventional morality.
Nurture: Development of Social Skills through Social Interaction
The following theories dispute the idea that social development occurs in clear stages. Instead, they argue that social development is most heavily influenced by social and cultural contexts.
1. Social Learning Theory
Bandura argues that social skills are first and foremost developed through observing the people around them.
To test this Bandura conducted the bonobo doll study. This now famous study explored two groups of children.
The first group observed an adult hitting a doll. The second group observed an adult cuddling a doll.
The groups then got to play with the doll and – as you’d expect – the group that watched the adult hitting the doll were rough with it. The group that watched the adult cuddling the doll were gentle with it.
This, according to Bandura, challenges the idea that social development develops in clear-cut stages. Instead, perhaps, our social development is more influenced simply by who we are observing in our day to day lives.
2. Ecological Systems Theory
Like Bandura, Bronfenbrenner believes that identities are formed through social and cultural contexts.
To describe identify formation, Bronfenbrenner uses a drawing of concentric circles leading out from the individual in the middle.
The individual’s immediate family and peers are a strong influence in the inner circle. Outer circles represent more distant relationships like communities and, further out, the economic circumstances and national and global cultures.
All these factors can impact a child’s development – not just their social but also their cognitive and emotional development.
Other Domains of Development
Developmental psychologists tend to examine development in the following domains:
Physical development – Commonly, we look at physical development by exploring the refinement of fine and gross motor skills, such as through the process of proximodistal development.
Social development – The emerging ability to interact with others, achieve independence and positive interdependence, and understand how to live in a community.
Cognitive development – Brain development, including (but not limited to) the ability to develop complex thinking skills and engage in metacognition.
Emotional development – The development of a child’s ability to regulate their own emotions and grow to an emotionally stable adult.
Conclusion
As you can see, social development there are many ways to conceptualize social development. The core theoretical question is whether children develop social skills at clearly defined stages, or whether the role of society and culture have a greater affect on when children develop social skills (and which skills they develop).
Nevertheless, some key and common social development examples in childhood include the development of attachment to others, independence, self-efficacy, and social responsibility.

The Science Behind the Programs
The Social Development Strategy provides the foundation for all of the work we do at the Center for CTC. We’ve organized the knowledge on what protects young people from developing health and behavior problems into an easy-to-use strategy that can be easily put to action in families, schools and communities.
Opportunities. Skills. Recognition.
The Social Development Strategy fosters the success and health of young people from before birth through every stage of development. It’s easy to use, easy to remember, and it works!
Providing young people with opportunities, skills and recognition strengthens bonding with family, school and community. Strong bonds motivate young people to adopt healthy standards for behavior.
This strategy has been tested and proven effective.
Protective Factors
Researchers have identified protective factors that increase the likelihood of health and success for children. The Social Development Strategy provides a way of increasing the protective factors for the youth in your community.
Strategy for Interaction
When you use the Social Development Strategy in daily interactions with young people, it helps keep them on track for healthy development. The strategy has five key components:
Opportunities: Provide developmentally appropriate opportunities to young people, for active participation and meaningful interaction with prosocial others.
Skills: Teach young people the skills they need to succeed
Recognition: Provide consistent specific praise and recognition for effort, improvement, and achievement.
Bonding: Acknowledge a young person’s effort and promote positive bonding — a sense of attachment, emotional connection and commitment to the people and groups who provide that recognition. Bonding can occur with a family member, teacher, coach, employer or neighbor.
Clear Standards for Behavior: Through the process of bonding, young people become motivated to live according to the healthy standards of the person or group to whom they are bonded.

CTC offers a strategy for positive youth development. Discover how to use it in your community…
Research Shows the Strategy Works
In a research project that followed 808 ten-year-olds for more than 15 years, the Social Development Strategy was proven successful.
When parents and elementary teachers were provided training in how to use the Social Development Strategy during the elementary grades, 15 years later their children had better outcomes than those who did not receive the training.
Proven Results
Positive youth outcomes include: a greater percentage of students who graduated high school on time, better economic outcomes, better mental health in their 20’s, significantly fewer sexually transmitted diseases — especially among those at greatest risk, and fewer teen pregnancies.

This article deals with the most important problem in the theory and practice of personnel management in an organization — the social development of personnel. As one of the elements of the system of social development of personnel, the use of social programs aimed at improving the standard of living of each employee is considered.

At present, no one doubts that human resource management is the main factor in the effectiveness of the organization. Activation of the human factor through scientific management means the use of the physical, mental and emotional potential of employees, their performing, creative and organizational abilities, which requires the construction and practical application of new management fundamentals. These principles are formulated and substantiated in the theory of personnel social development management. The practice of modern management, built on these principles, makes it possible to ensure the preservation of integrity, qualitative specificity, reproduction and development of the organization as an open socio-technical system 1 .
Social development of personnel is a narrow direction for the development of the basic social skills of the company’s employees.
For example, such skills include interaction with customers. The management and development of the company’s personnel in this direction, as a rule, has a positive effect not only on the success of individual employees, but also on the entire enterprise as a whole. In order to better understand why a company should be involved in social development management, let’s consider what social management and personnel development are in general. So, this concept includes: – recognition of the importance and necessity of creating a team of like-minded people, the interests of whose members will be directly related to the interests of the company; – predetermination of personal success in managing the effective work of the entire team; — self-development of employees is an important component of the social development of the organization.
The social development of the organization’s personnel is the formation of social skills, the regulation of collective behavior. The organization is an economic and social object. The external and internal culture of the enterprise is formed under the influence of certain factors. Successful joint activities of members of the same team depends not so much on the orders of the management team, but on the socially adapted system of the organization itself. Based on these factors, a system of social development of personnel is formed. The interests of the company are supported by a team of like-minded people connected by a common goal – the creation of economic stability that helps to feel confident and independent. An important component of the social development of personnel is the self-development of each employee, advanced training. In turn, the management team is developing methods to improve working conditions. A system of motivation and social environment is being created, which determines the quality of the entire working life of employees.
