    Justin McCurry. Story one – Money on vc.ru

    Justin McCurry is perhaps the most famous story of early retirement. But in Russian I found very weak and superficial materials. Therefore, I decided to write his story in Russian myself.

    Through careful saving and planning, I was able to accumulate enough money to become financially independent, allowing me to retire at 33.

    If too lazy to read, you can see:

    Justin and his wife stopped working in 2013 and 2016, respectively, and by the beginning of 2020, their portfolio not only didn’t lose weight, but, on the contrary, grew by 70% over 6 years of a growing stock market: in 2013, at the time of retirement, the portfolio was $1.25 million, and as of January 2020, their portfolio is already $2.26 million.

    They live in North Carolina (it’s a poor state on the east coast, between New York and Florida). They have three children, and now their main occupation is traveling.

    Both Justin and his wife enjoy a thrifty lifestyle – they travel during the off-season, buy cheap brand clothes, live in a modest neighborhood, drive a modest car. But they are happy, because this is a payment for the fact that since the age of 33 there is no such column as “work” in their schedule.

    Of course, Justin’s diligence surprises. Even at school, he earned money as best he could: he bought sweets in bulk and sold them individually, delivered newspapers, mowed lawns to neighbors, and tutored elementary school students. After school, he chose an inexpensive and far from the most prestigious university, where he also continuously worked part-time so as not to take a loan for education.

    At 21, he moved from college to law school. At that time, the amount had already accumulated (wife added) to buy a modest apartment in Raleigh (North Carolina), and at that time he had already found a good job in a consulting company.

    For their savings, they used all the life hacks that the US can give its citizens: this is both pension savings systems (401 (k) and IRA), this is a health care savings account (HSA, 457), and savings for children’s education (529).

    Such account management turned out to be so successful that during the years of work they paid a ridiculous $150-600 in taxes on the income of individuals per year with annual incomes of over $100,000. In 2003, again, a modest house was bought at an auction for 70% of the cost of neighboring analogues, in which they still live.

    And in 2005, a small apartment in the city was sold as unnecessary, and the money was invested.

    Plan

    They developed an early retirement plan right out of college. The plan has changed over the years, and the ideal investment amount has changed many times.

    Justin writes: “It’s sly to say you’ve made a 100% plan to retire permanently and there’s no chance you’ll ever have to work again. There is always uncertainty. The best thing you can do is accept the fact that flexibility in the face of unforeseen conditions will work better than rigid planning. But a plan is still needed.

    So, how was the portfolio formed? You can see that Justin and his wife are not some super-rich Americans with incredibly large earnings. Maximum salary for all time — $69 eachthousand per year and $138 thousand for the whole family at its peak in 2013.

    This is slightly higher than the average salary in the US, which, according to various estimates, varies around $50,000 a year. The main condition here, as you can see, is life for 30-40% of the earned.

    What if there is a crisis?

    Probably the most asked question to long-term investors from the idle public. The main principle in Justin during the collapse of 2008-2009 (when a decent amount had already been accumulated) was not to succumb to the general hysteria and not to sell.

    He rather even did the opposite – namely, he bought the most risky and aggressive assets during these two years. Of course, it was a bit scary to see the market drop 7% on the day. But he calls it “a great shopping opportunity.”

    The money he was “losing” was a long-term investment, so why should it matter if it fell 7% in a day? In 2008, their portfolio lost $140,000 out of $445,000, that is, by 31%. But at a distance it turned out to be unimportant. What matters is how much these assets will be worth in 10 or 20 years, not today or tomorrow.

    The plan has been incredibly effective in keeping Justin from looking for a job after being laid off in 2013. Having initially experienced the stress of being laid off from work, he suddenly realized that now it has come – there is no need to look for another job! After all, you can live on a percentage of $1.25 million!

    And the capital continued to grow – the bull market brings in much more than it spends, in January 2020 the portfolio was already $ 2.26 million. Plus 80% without working for 7 years, would you like to live like this?

    Assets

    A feature of most early retirees is their commitment to ETFs (funds that buy shares of several hundred companies and sell shares in this fund, thereby for $100 people can afford to diversify funds for the entire economy of a country or an entire region), and Justin is no exception.

    The picture shows the calculation for a million dollars. This structure brings a 2.6% yield, while having a good natural increase in value.

    It is easy to calculate that as of 2019a year that has grown to $2.1 million, the portfolio brings him about $47 thousand dividends a year, although in fact Justin claims that he receives less in his account, because part of the funds lies in a pension fund under the 401 (k) system (something similar to our Pension Fund) without the possibility of withdrawing funds without penalty until old age. And that part of the dividends is constantly reinvested.

    Costs

    Justin’s family’s retirement budget was $32,000 in 2013. $2,670 a month is very modest in the US, but enough to travel low-cost countries for months and lead a modest (but fulfilling) life in the provinces.

    Starting in 2016, he increased the limits to $40,000 per year, or $3,333 per month. Justin publishes all his expenses and incomes monthly. In principle, all dividends received during the year always cover living expenses, that is, Justin does not sell his portfolio, allowing him to continue to grow.

    What about the children?

    Justin writes: “According to research, it costs about $300,000 to raise each child in the United States. I can’t understand how they spend so much money on little creatures whose favorite things are cardboard boxes and shiny pieces of plastic up to 7 years old.”

    Indeed, the modest spending on children’s toys is fully offset by the fact that parents spend almost all the time with their children at home, outdoors and traveling. Justin is pragmatic about the education of his children – he does not plan to spend a lot of money on the prestige of the institution, because he does not see the point in it.

    So, a modest but cozy University of North Carolina will cost $24,000 a year, and if you save on a hostel (live in your parents’ house), then the cost of education will be only $10,000 a year, which is mere pennies for the USA.

    Possible state subsidies have not yet been taken into account, but this is a separate topic for conversation, uninteresting to us from the point of view of early retirement in Russia.

    Speaking of travel.

    Here, too, there is room for smart savings to roam: travel during the low season, always free time for careful planning, a selection of inexpensive and authentic accommodation options, premium cards with extra miles from banks that operate accounts with big sums of money.

    So, in a short period from January to August 2019, they visited Cuba, Jamaica, Mexico, Vietnam, Cambodia and Thailand, while not exceeding the planned budget.

    Justin’s advice to those who are at the beginning of the journey

    • Start saving and investing early, even if you don’t have a specific goal in mind.
    • Avoid trusts and structured products and invest on your own in low-cost passive index funds.
    • Track your expenses and investments with a spreadsheet or other free tool.
    • When the market crashes, keep saving and investing. Terrible times in the markets have a very indirect relationship to your portfolio, the value of which is important not at a moment in time, but over decades.
    • Resist peer pressure to improve your lifestyle as your earnings rise. Your peers can spend all their income living for today, but do you need to?
    • Save. Even if you don’t have a million in ten years, you will still have a lot more than zero.

    All material was prepared by me and agreed with Justin, whom we know remotely. The fact is that I am one of those who save for retirement from a young age in extreme mode.

    Finding quality, affordable Child Care near you has always been a problem in San Diego, even before the pandemic. Now, between managing new work environments like work from home, remote hybrid setups, and financial challenges, parents and families are unfortunately still stuck paying high costs for care. Parents in San Diego are especially familiar with this struggle, given that cost of living in San Diego is 6% higher than California’s average and 49% higher than that of the entire country! For California alone, Child Care is so expensive that California daycare average costs reached $1,412 per month in 2023 – the second highest in the nation, behind Massachusetts (which ranks #1 at $1,743).

    How many Child Care providers are in San Diego?

    Using TOOTRiS survey data, as of April 2023, there are currently 3,885 Child Care providers in San Diego. This include infant care, toddler, preschool and school-aged care providers!

    If you’re living in the San Diego area and have just had your first child, there’s a good chance that Child Care – starting with infant care – is on your mind. For parents that need a straight answer to guide them down their Child Care path, we have answered some of the most important questions parents ask when trying to find care. The following data points are based on real world data from TOOTRiS Child Care providers.

    Other Things to Consider

    In a perfect world, Child Care would be as simple as possible: pay for Child Care – that’s it. Unfortunately, there are some additional considerations to be made when planning your family’s expenses.

    Food
    Many care providers provide snacks, meals, or both, but others might require that parents take charge of the child’s diet and pack them a lunch. Some providers may be able to provide vegetarian or vegan meals, and occasionally some may be able to satisfy specialized needs such as gluten free, or nut allergy requirements.

    Extra Activities
    Some care providers have other programs in addition to their normal care. They may offer second-language programs to further stimulate your child’s learning process or have field trips to add a little adventure to their program. Providers may also offer physical activities like karate, taekwondo, gymnastics, or interactive arts and crafts. Finally, providers may also charge extra if they have to perform extra care, such as diaper changes or doing laundry.

    So really, what is the all-in cost?
    The reality is that even having the data-breakdown for San Diego by region, it’s hard to put a pen to a checkbook without knowing the hard figures. While knowing the average cost helps to get an idea of how much of your budget care is going to take up, there are still many variables to consider. Wanting your child to take up karate, learn a second language, or simply be close to your home when at the care facility are all factors that will affect the price. Your bill may end up being very different from the averages posted in this article.

    When the eldest child went to kindergarten, I only took into account the cost of parental fees in advance.

    I got used to buying clothes and toys for my child, which I buy rationally: I take clothes when I need them, toys when the child really wants something. In fact, the expenses turned out to be much more, although my child goes to a regular municipal kindergarten.

    I’ll tell you what expenses are in kindergarten, what you can save on and what you pay for at your own request.

    Parental fee

    Amount: about 3500 ₽ per month, depending on the region and number of visits

    Parental fee is the daily cost of public kindergarten services.

    Art. 65 of the Federal Law “On Education”

    When parents enter into an agreement with a kindergarten, the cost of one day is prescribed there. It is determined by the administration of the institution and regulated by regional legislation, which establishes the maximum amount of the fee.

    The monthly amount depends on how many days the child went to kindergarten. If he falls ill or you want to miss the day for family reasons, you need to write to the teacher so that the child is taken off the diet. Then the days that he did not go to the garden will not have to be paid.

    In 2023, one day costs 166.57 rubles. If the child walks for a whole month, in which there are 22 working days, then the fee for this time is 3665.54 ₽. Usually, once a year, the cost increases, and parents are given an additional agreement, which spells out the new cost for one day.

    How to save money. The parental fee can be reduced. To do this, you need to write an application for compensation for its part. We are given such a statement in January of each year by the teacher of the group. The amount of compensation is set by the regional authorities, but according to the law there are minimum coefficients:

    1. For the first child – from 20% of the parental fee.
    2. For the second child — from 50%.
    3. For the third child and subsequent ones – from 70%.

    In some regions, compensation is provided only to large or low-income families, for example, in the Yaroslavl region. In others, compensation may be increased for individual cases – as in the Sakhalin Region, where the compensation for the third child and subsequent ones is 100%.

    We have no restrictions in Nizhny Novgorod. I receive a 20% compensation, since the first child goes to kindergarten. The money comes back to the card with which I pay the receipt for the parental fee.

    Since September 2022, I have been paying for kindergarten with maternity capital, I talked about this in detail in another article. Since I have a parental fee compensation, there are nuances. Only 80% of the payment is transferred from the mother’s capital, and I pay the remaining 20%. But the same 20% is returned to my card as compensation.

    Clothes

    Amount: from 5000 ₽ per year

    When my son went to kindergarten, he had a separate category of purchases – I call it “kindergarten clothes”. I heard a story from a friend how her friend spent 15,000 rubles to dress her child in kindergarten. Each parent decides for himself what clothes to buy and how much. I try to spend money rationally, and my amount came out much less – 5658 ₽.

    In August, I inspect my garden clothes and buy what I need. Here are the main items of expenditure.

    Casual wear. Now the set of everyday clothes for my son looks like this: two pairs of pants, four T-shirts, sandals. There are also spare pants and a T-shirt in the kindergarten, they were left over from last year.

    Pants cost 768 ₽ — bought in Detsky Mir. Relatives gave two T-shirts to my son, I took the other two to Wildberry for 380 ₽ – after six months they are still in good condition. I bought sandals in Detsky Mir for 1000 ₽.

    Even in the garden they ask to bring pajamas, but my son does not stay for an afternoon nap. Yes, and children still sleep in shorts and T-shirts, because it is warm in the kindergarten.

    Clothes for physical education. Kindergarten PE classes usually require black shorts and a plain white T-shirt. I bought them in “Daughters⁠-⁠sons”, I paid 350 ₽ for everything. It is better to buy two such sets for a shift, you can get by with one, but you will have to wash it on the weekend. I bought only one, because we got the replacement one from our nephew. I need Czech shoes for my feet, I bought them at Sportmaster for 280 ₽.

    Clothes for holidays. The son likes to dress “like a gentleman”, for this he has black trousers, a white shirt, a vest and a bow tie. This whole set would cost about 2500 ₽, but the son has been wearing trousers and a bow tie for the third year. Pants were the most expensive – 1500 ₽, bought at Acoola. This academic year, I only took a shirt and a vest from Detsky Mir for 700 ₽.

    It is not necessary to dress the child in classic. Sometimes the son just wears jeans and a shirt. We don’t need to buy festive shoes – children put on Czech shoes for the holidays.

    There are themed matinees when a child has a role, which means they need a costume. In this regard, we were lucky: the music director provided costumes for New Year’s matinees. My only waste was the purchase of drawing paper and gouache for a fly agaric hat for the autumn holiday.

    Parent fees

    Amount: about 2000 ₽ per year 900 03

    Many parents have a bad attitude towards fees in kindergartens and schools. There are those who do not participate in them. And if we are talking about mandatory fees for repairs, then this is completely illegal – the kindergarten is obliged to ensure the maintenance of its buildings.

    In our garden, this is really a parental initiative, which is organized voluntarily. Basically, these are birthday and New Year gifts for children, gifts for staff for holidays, educational materials, workbooks, small expenses for office supplies and a first aid kit. In general, everything that will help the child in development and leave him and his parents with pleasant impressions of going to kindergarten.

    Usually we donate 2,000 ₽, but this academic year we rented an additional 1,000 ₽ for a kindergarten access card system – it was installed at the request of the parents.

    Paid lessons

    Amount: about 120 ₽ per lesson, additional 500 ₽ for workbooks

    90 008 This academic year, paid school preparation classes and a theater studio appeared in our kindergarten. In the theater studio, children put on small performances. For example, in winter they performed in front of other children and their parents with the fairy tale “The Wolf and the Seven Kids”. But my son does not go there, as these classes overlap with his judo training.

    But I signed him up for preschool classes. Lessons are held twice a week for 30 minutes. On them, children learn numbers, counting, reading. In March, an open lesson was held for parents, at which they showed how children learn letters and sounds in a playful way. The child likes to go to “Doshkolenok”, and I notice the result from these classes.

    This is convenient when classes are held in a kindergarten and you don’t have to take your child anywhere, besides, it comes out on a budget. Both in the theater studio and in Doshkolenka, one lesson costs 126.46 ₽, you only need to pay for those classes that the child attended.

    Workbooks had to be purchased for preparation. Two notebooks for work in the kindergarten “From A to Z” – 162 ₽ and “Counting to 10” – 75.6 ₽, one for homework “ABC. My first textbook” — 260 ₽. Notebooks were ordered for everyone by the parent committee, but they were thrown off for them separately, since not all children go to Preschool. Back in January, we bought a fan with vowels – 100 ₽.

    Total: from 150 ₽ for one photo

    Several times a year a photographer comes to the kindergarten and arranges a thematic photo session with children. Children are photographed with props, and then the photographer superimposes the appropriate background on the photo. Themes can be festive, such as New Year and May 9, or related to your favorite characters from cartoons and video games.

    Cost from 150 to 800 ₽ – depending on the desired size and number of photos. Participation is voluntary, but usually parents do not want to leave their child alone when everyone is taking pictures. A couple of times my son skipped photo shoots, but of his own free will – he was not interested in topics.

    I always choose the photo format 10 × 15, because it is convenient to store such photos in a children’s album – one photo costs 150 ₽. I take three copies: for myself and two grandmothers. It turns out that a photo session in kindergarten costs me 450 ₽.

    “What are your weaknesses” is one of the most popular questions interviewers ask. It is also the most dreaded question of all. Handle it by minimizing your weakness and emphasizing your strengths. Stay away from personal qualities and concentrate on professional traits: “I am always working on improving my communication skills to be a more effective presenter. I recently joined Toastmasters, which I find very helpful.”

    2. Why Should We Hire You?

    Answer “Why should we hire you?” by summarizing your experiences: “With five years’ experience working in the financial industry and my proven record of saving the company money, I could make a big difference in your company. I’m confident I would be a great addition to your team.”

    Emphasize what makes you unique when you’re asked, “What can you do for us that other candidates can’t?” This will take an assessment of your experiences, skills and traits. Summarize concisely: “I have a unique combination of strong technical skills, and the ability to build strong customer relationships. This allows me to use my knowledge and break down information to be more user-friendly.”

    8. What Are Three Positive Things Your Last Boss Would Say About You?

    It’s time to pull out your old performance appraisals and boss’s quotes to answer the question, “What are three positive things your last boss would say about you?”. This is a great way to brag about yourself through someone else’s words: “My boss has told me that I am the best designer he has ever had. He knows he can rely on me, and he likes my sense of humor.”

    9. What Salary Are You Seeking?

    When you’re asked, “What salary are you seeking?” it is to your advantage if the employer tells you the range first. Prepare by knowing the going rate in your area, and your bottom line or walk-away point. One possible answer would be: “I am sure when the time comes, we can agree on a reasonable amount. In what range do you typically pay someone with my background?”

    10. If You Were an Animal, Which One Would You Want to Be?

    Don’t be alarmed if you’re asked weird interview questions. Interviewers use this type of psychological question to see if you can think quickly.     Some companies like to ask you what your ideal job is like. In others, why manhole covers are round and not square. Some employers consider standard interview questions useless and improvise, while others carefully consider each next step. We’ve put together 20 questions you’re likely to be asked during an interview.

    Different questions serve different purposes. But most often, employers ask quite expected things related to the personality of the candidate, his professional level, career ambitions, understanding of the work mission, position fit.


    1. “Tell me about yourself.”

    You will be asked to do so, so be prepared to share the highlights of your work bio. Use the simple formula “present-past-future”. First, talk about who you are at the moment, what you do, what you can do. Then talk about what brought you to where you are today: a combination of skills and experience.       • Bring a pen and notepad with you to take notes during the interview and write down the answers to your questions.

    DAYCARE COST, INSPECTION AND COMPLIANCE, HEALTH DEPARTMENT CERTIFICATE OF INSPECTION:

    1. A daycare center shall be examined by the director or his or her representative before the allotment of a certificate of inspection.
    2. No person shall operate or cause to operate a daycare center in the City of Jacksonville without first obtaining a health department certificate of inspection granted by the director.
    3. The director is hereby authorized to give a health department certificate of inspection in the City when he or she finds that the owner or operator of the daycare center has acknowledged the requirements of this article and all other applicable sections of the city code. If the daycare center complies, the owner or operator of the daycare center acentreided above shall be granted a certificate of inspection.
    4. If at the time of inspection, a daycare center is found to not comply code, a certificate of inspection will be refused and will not be issued. After notification of the violations or deficiencies which were observed, the owner shall be required to remedy the conditions of violation or deficiencies within a sufficient period of periodized by the director, but not to go beyond 30 days.
    5. If a certificate of inspection is rejected by the director, the applicant may appeal the director’s judgment by following the procedure specified.
    6. The director shall keep on file in the department reports of inspections formulated of the daycare center as well as appropriate notices or directives to the owner or operator of any infringements or deficiencies identified in the inspection.
    7. The owner or operator of the daycare center shall regulate the facility or cause it to be operated at all times in obedience to the provisions of this article and other applicable sections of the city code. The owner or operator of the daycare center shall correct or cause to be corrected within the duration specified any violation or deficiency that is observed by the department director.

    Daycare opening

    JACKSONVILLE- Fla. – A local daycare owner is helping more parents by launching another site in Jacksonville.

    Sarra Brown just opened the fourth location of Brown Bear Learning Center.

    Brown had a ribbon-cutting ceremony at the new site on Blanding Boulevard Saturday afternoon. It is on the city’s west side.

    Kids between six months and 12 years old are eligible to attend the daycare.

    Brown says she has a passion for helping single moms.

    “I know that growing up I was a single mom,” Brown said. “It was very hard for me. Once I realized how to provide quality care, and how to be an asset to my community, I wanted to continue to spread the love through the city.”

    Brown also gave away a 2015 Nissan Altima to one mother who desperately needed it.

    Shakia Richardson’s 4-year-old daughter attends the daycare, but leading up to Saturday, Richardson did not have a car.

    Instead, she had to ask friends, ride-share companies, and even Brown for rides to get her daughter to the center.

    Richardson says receiving the new car is a relief and blessing.

    “No more worrying,” Richardson said. “No more begging people, asking for rides. I’m not even calling [Brown] anymore to ask.”

    Overall, 175 children are enrolled in Brown Bear Learning Centers. Altogether there are now five different locations including one in Orlando.

    Florida Governor Ron DeSantis is officially running for President of the United States. He will run in the Republican primary.

    DeSantis belongs to the extremely conservative wing of the Republican Party. He advocates for cuts in government spending, greater state autonomy in lawmaking, and less federal interference in education, health, and social services.

    The 44-year-old candidate is known for a number of high-profile laws, such as restricting abortion, making it easier to carry weapons, and banning transgender transition surgeries. He also opposes the Iran nuclear deal, the normalization of diplomatic relations with Cuba, and US aid to Palestine.

    Ronald Dion DeSantis was born on September 14, 1978 in Jacksonville, Florida. His father was a technical specialist at Nielsen Media Research, where he compiled and analyzed TV ratings, and his mother worked as a nurse.

    From a young age, Ron was fond of baseball. In 1991, he helped the Dunedin, Florida team qualify for the Little League World Series.

    DeSantis graduated summa cum laude from Yale University in 2001 with a bachelor’s degree in history. During his studies, he was the captain of the varsity baseball team.

    After graduation, he taught at a private school for a year, then continued his studies at Harvard Law School.

    During my student years, I worked at several jobs to help my parents pay for their education.

    Enlisted in the US Navy in 2004. First he was sent to the Naval School of Justice, then to Mayport Naval Base in Florida as a prosecutor, and in 2006 he was transferred to Cuba at Guantanamo Bay. DeSantis was also in Iraq, where he was legal adviser to the SEAL commander. Among his awards is the Bronze Star for Valiant Service (the fourth most important combat award in the US Armed Forces).

    In 2008, DeSantis returned to the United States, worked in the legal department of the Navy and at the same time was a special assistant prosecutor in one of the districts of the state of Florida.

    In 2010, DeSantis left the military, but remained in the US Navy Reserve. That same year, he married Casey Black, a television reporter and local news anchor. The couple has three children.

    Election to the House of Representatives

    At 34, DeSantis became a member of the US House of Representatives from the Republican Party, he won 57.3% of the vote. He was later re-elected twice, in 2014 and 2016. During his time in the lower house of Congress, he served on the foreign affairs, judiciary, oversight, and government reform committees. He has been critical of the administration of Democrat Barack Obama, and also voted against bills to raise taxes and initiatives of the Democratic Party aimed at combating climate change.

    During his time in the House of Representatives, he was a frequent commentator on Fox News.

    In 2015, he was a founding member of the Freedom Caucus, a club of ultra-conservative, far-right Republican congressmen. Since Trump’s election as president, DeSantis has been one of his most vocal supporters.

    Governor of Florida

    With Trump’s backing, DeSantis announced in 2018 that he was running for Governor of Florida. He gave up his seat in the House of Representatives to focus on the election. In the fight for the governor’s chair, he faced a Democrat Andrew Gillum, who tried to become the state’s first African-American governor. In the end, thanks to Trump’s support, he narrowly defeated Gillum (49.6% to 49.2% of the vote).

    Desantis took office in 2019. During the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020, he lifted restrictions much earlier than other governors, while taking steps to protect the elderly. In May 2021, he signed into law a law preventing businesses, schools, cruise ships and government agencies from requiring a vaccination certificate.

    In addition, DeSantis banned classes on sexual orientation and gender identity in elementary grades, and canceled a planned course on African American culture and history in high school and the teaching of critical racial theory, saying that America needs education, not indoctrination.

    In February 2023, the Governor terminated Walt Disney World’s autonomy and privileges due to employees discussing gender identity with children at their amusement park, contrary to state law.

    On April 3, 2023, DeSantis signed into law a law allowing concealed carry without a state permit (effective July 1, 2023).

    On April 13, 2023, he signed a bill banning abortion after the sixth week of pregnancy, when the fetus’s heart begins to beat, and providing $25 million to perinatal centers across the state.

    Attitude towards Russia

    Desantis calls himself a representative of the “Reagan school” in relations with Moscow. He takes a tough stance towards Russia. According to him, the foreign policy of the administration 9Joe Biden’s 0005 has led to a virtual alliance between Russia and China, and the escalation of violence brings a direct military clash between the nuclear powers closer. In April, in an interview with the Japanese edition of Nikkei Asia, he was skeptical about American military assistance to Kyiv and called for peace talks between the countries.

    Daycare Daily Schedule – Evergreen Child Care Center

    Daycare Daily Schedule

    7:00-9:15am – Children arrive and make their free play choices such as: art, table toys, blocks, dramatic play, or music activities. This is also the time for individual learning when phonetic sounds, early science, geography and math are introduced.

    9:15-9:35am – Children are tidying up their toys and are involved in a morning circle directed by the teacher. This is a time to work on the daily calendar and weather. Also show and tell time for V.I.P.

    9:35-10:00am – Snack time. Each child brings his/her own nutritional snack. Suggestions: cheese and crackers, fruit pieces, vegetable sticks.

    10:00-10:25am – Story time connected with the daily theme. It may be a book read by the teacher, a felt board story, or puppet story. New songs and finger plays are also introduced at this time. Washroom routine.

    10:25-11:10am – 3 way activities: The children are divided into 3 groups and spend 15 minutes in each station.

    -Arts/crafts presented as the extension of the theme of the day;

    -Body movement. Theses are music and movement exercises;

    -Learning activity. The children play games, learn to recognize letters, numbers, colours etc.

    11:10-11:45pm – If it is nice outside the children may go to the beach, for a walk, around the neighbourhood or play in the playground. If it is raining the children are free to choose their own activities inside or join in with teacher directed ones such as felt board stories, games, or use musical instruments.

    11:45-11:55pm – Children join in the phonics circle and sing songs while they wait their turn to wash hands and take their seat at the lunch table.

    11:55-12:15pm – Lunch time. The staff encourages this time of the day to be a social event, where the children can talk quietly with the teachers and amongst themselves. Please try to not include junk foods in their lunch such as pop, chocolate, chips etc.

    12:15-12:30pm – Children put their lunches away, go to the washroom to brush their teeth, washes faces and hands then a naptime story and lay down on their mats.

    12:30-2:00pm – During this time we would like the children to sleep however, we understand that some children may only rest quietly. If a child does not fall asleep, they must lay on top of their mat until the other children are asleep. They then are allowed to read books, do puzzles or draw.

    2:00-2:15pm – As the children wake up they put away their bedding. It is time for toilet, wash up and join the others already reading books.

    2:15-2:30pm – Circle time when known songs are repeated and new materials are introduced. At this time we introduce The Safety Spaces Program or the Phonics Program.

    2:30-3:00pm – Afternoon snack time and washroom routine.

    3:00-4:30pm – Depending on the weather, the children will spend the afternoon outside playing in the sandbox, on the climber, or playing with the outdoor toys. They may also join in the afternoon art projects or games and activities.

    4:30-4:45pm – The children come inside and wash up.

    4:45-5:15pm – Indoor activities. The children participate in free time play.

    5:15-5:30pm – Good bye circle.

    5:30-6:00 – The children choose activities set out on tables such as: play dough, board games, books or table toys while they wait for their parents to arrive.

    Plan for the day, from 6 am to 10 pm, to enjoy life without sacrificing efficiency.

    Don’t be discouraged if at first you can’t follow the whole schedule. Over time, these things will turn into habits that will not be so easy to get rid of.

    6:00. Wake up

    Wake up and sing! If possible, immediately plunge into the rays of sunlight.

    6:15 am. Think good things

    Think of two or three things in your life, no matter how important, that you are grateful for. You will be surprised how quickly your anxiety about the day ahead will disappear.

    6:30. Get moving

    Do some simple exercises to get your blood moving. Then energize yourself with a protein shake, oatmeal, Greek yogurt, or eggs, especially hard-boiled eggs, to keep you going until lunchtime.

    8:00 am. Get out of the house

    You can listen to a podcast or audiobook when you get to work. It is better to choose something unfamiliar – this will help to learn new things and keep the mind fresh.

    If you can’t enjoy your listening experience while on the road, do something useful. For example, think of a to-do list for the day, or mentally rehearse an upcoming presentation.

    9:00. Get to work

    Organize your workflow in such a way that you do not overload yourself and do not waste the positive energy generated in the morning. Once you’ve got your to-do list ready, turn off your phone, log out of email and social media, and get to work. As a last resort, try every 90 minutes turn on Do Not Disturb mode.

    12:00. Restore your energy

    Use your lunch time to restore not only your body, but also your mind. Go back to what you listened to or read in the morning, or try some meditation. If you are an extrovert, then chat with colleagues – this way you will fill yourself with energy even more.

    If you have to have lunch at the computer while working, then at least the food is healthy. It could be a fresh vegetable salad, a lean meat roll, or just a peanut butter sandwich on whole wheat bread.

    15:00. Take a break

    No one canceled the afternoon productivity slump, but there is no reason to give yourself completely to it. Instead of eating something sweet or drinking an energy drink, take a break and take a short walk – at least near the office.

    If the craving to eat something is irresistible, then give preference to complex carbohydrates and lean proteins. The former contribute to the release of energy, the latter make you more alert.     22:00. Go to bed

    Daily routine is a well-thought-out schedule of actions for the day, planning time for the purpose of its rational and most efficient distribution.

    As mentioned above, the routine is of great importance for the self-discipline and organization of any person, and it is also important for many other applied aspects of our lives. For example, the daily routine plays an important role in building training programs, compiling diets and organizing proper nutrition in general, choosing the most productive hours of our lives for work or creativity.

    Mason Curry, in his book The Genius Routine: The Daily Routine of Great People, gives the following analogy to the routine:

    we lack most of all, as well as willpower, self-discipline, optimism. An orderly routine is like a track along which mental forces move at a good pace…”

    The routine of the day is necessary so that time does not take advantage of our absent-mindedness (see epigraph). Each person faced in his work haste, a sense of the amorphousness of time, confusion in personal and work affairs. We cannot always clearly tell how much time we spent on this or that activity, because we do not consider it necessary to constantly monitor the use of our time. However, it is the whole day’s routine that helps to most intelligently and effectively allocate your time. In addition, without the skill of successfully planning your day, a person will not learn how to make longer-term plans, especially since it is not so difficult to plan your daily schedule completely, because:

    Day as the minimum unit for planning is most convenient due to easy visibility.
    If any attempt fails, you can rebuild and change the mode the next day.

    Let us also note the fact that the use of the epithet “correct” in relation to the daily routine is somewhat conditional. Individually for each person, the concept of the correct routine can be different and depend on many factors: work, habits, characteristics of the body. But, according to experts (psychologists and doctors), the physiological aspects of the functioning of the main life systems of people are identical [Wedemeyer G. A., 1996]. On the basis of this, it is possible to compile a universal regimen containing general recommendations that will suit everyone to one degree or another. Based on the proposed recommendations, taking into account your individual needs, you can develop a daily routine that is best for you.

    Biological rhythms and daily routine

    Without taking into account the daily biological rhythms of the body, a person is unlikely to be able to create an organized and effective daily routine [Nature, 2009]. For example, if a person who is used to usually waking up at 7 am, sleeps until 4 pm one day, after waking up, he will most likely feel tired, weak, slowing down the pace of activity. This condition occurs as a result of ignoring the features of biological rhythms, biological clocks and circadian rhythms.

    Biological rhythms ( biorhythms ) – periodically recurring changes in the nature and intensity of biological processes and phenomena in living organisms, on which their functionality depends.

    Biorhythms are internal ( endogenous ), depending on the body’s biological clock, and external ( exogenous ), which manifest themselves in the synchronization of internal cycles (change of sleep and wakefulness) with external stimuli (change of day and night). In terms of compiling the daily routine, we are most interested in circadian rhythms – cyclic fluctuations in the intensity of various biological processes associated with the change of day and night, the period of which is approximately equal to 24 hours [Komsomolskaya Pravda, 2016].

    Many researchers, until recently, attributed the study of biorhythms to a non-academic area of ​​physiology, but thanks to recent research, the situation has changed somewhat. So, in the human brain, they found a tiny cluster in the hypothalamus, about 20,000 neurons in size, which controls many of the body’s circadian rhythms. Known as the suprachiasmatic nucleus (SCN), this center performs the work of the body’s internal pacemaker and affects human biorhythms [Moore R. Y., 2001].

    Owls and larks

    Psychologists often refer to the well-known division of people into “owls” and “larks” depending on the period of their activity. It is difficult for the first to get up early in the morning, and the peak of their activity falls on the evening and night hours. The latter, on the contrary, are active in the morning, and by the evening they quickly lose their energy reserves. Interestingly, in many African countries there are practically no “owls”, this is due to the fact that many villages and cities are not electrified, which means that when the sun sets, local life stops.

    The proposed classification is rather arbitrary, because, as practice shows, a normal healthy person, if desired, can gradually change his type of wakefulness without harm to the body. The main thing is the presence of willpower and the right strategy.

    For example, many politicians, businessmen, athletes who travel a lot around the world often have to adjust their circadian rhythms in accordance with the time difference between cities in order not to lose efficiency in their work when changing time zones. In practice, even special recommendations have been developed that will help to rebuild your regime as painlessly as possible after changing the time zone. For this you are follows:

    1 Plan the first days of arrival so that, if possible, the psychological and physical stress is minimal.
    2 Eat only light meals two days before your flight, avoid alcoholic beverages and foods that you are not used to, and refrain from smoking if possible.
    3 Please note that it is better to fly from east to west on a morning or afternoon flight, and from west to east – in the evening.
    4 3-5 days before departure, gradually rebuild your schedule in accordance with the time zone of the place where you are going to fly.
    5 If you’re flying west, try to go to bed and wake up later. When traveling eastward, you need to fall asleep earlier and wake up early in the morning.

    Often people do not even have to use their willpower to change their activity regime, since the human body is able to independently adapt to changing external conditions. For example, regular schoolchildren tend to go to class by 8:30 a.m. during a long period of study. Over the years, the student’s body gets used to follow the given circadian rhythm, that is, to work actively in the first half of the day. However, if, after graduation, a graduate enters the university in the evening department, where classes are held on the second shift, the body has to adjust to the new schedule. Over time, the student’s biological clock naturally adapts to the new system without much effort on his part.

    Knowing how the biological clock works will help you plan your day correctly. Below is an approximate calculation of the periods of activity of different systems of an average person by hours:

    04:00. The beginning of the circadian rhythm. At this time, the body releases the stress hormone cortisol into the bloodstream, which triggers the mechanisms of basic functions and is responsible for our activity. It is this hormone that helps wake up people who prefer to get up early.

    05:00-06:00. Awakening of the organism. During this period, the metabolism accelerates, the level of amino acids and sugar increases, which do not allow a person to sleep soundly in the morning.

    07:00-09:00. The ideal time for light physical activity, when you can quickly bring the body relaxed after sleep into tone. At this time, the digestive system works well: the absorption of nutrients occurs faster, which helps to efficiently process food and convert it into energy.

    09:00-10:00. The period when the energy received from eating is mastered. During this time, a person is able to cope well with tasks for attention and quick wits, as well as successfully use short-term memory.

    10:00-12:00. The first peak of efficiency, the period of maximum mental activity. At this time, a person copes well with tasks that require increased concentration.

    12:00-14:00. The time of deterioration of performance, when it is necessary to rest the tired brain. This period is suitable for a lunch break, as the work of the digestive tract accelerates, blood flows to the stomach, and the mental activity of the body decreases.

    14:00-16:00. It is better to devote this time to the calm digestion of what you have eaten, as the body is in a state of slight fatigue after dinner.

    16:00-18:00. The second peak of activity and efficiency. The body received energy from food, all systems again work in full mode.

    18:00-20:00. The best time for dinner, the food received by the body will have time to digest until the morning. After eating, you can take a walk or after an hour to do physical exercises, go to training.

    20:00-21:00. This time is suitable for playing sports, visiting sections, socializing.

    02:00-03:00. The period when all chemical reactions are slowed down, hormones are practically not produced. Lack of sleep at this time can lead to a deterioration in condition and mood throughout the day.
