The whole family loves this preschool! We love that our little one was embraced with loving arms from the first day at Valley Center. Starting school was such a smooth transition because of the great teachers. All of the teachers have a great curricumlum while nourishing relationships with each child. On weekeds, I am constantly asked why there isn’t any school, because my little on would rather be at school than at home! I am so happy with this school. …

I found Ortega Family Child Care one day as I was driving near Covina when I saw a Van with the name on it. I saved the number and called the owner. From that moment, for me and my son it has been an amazingexperience that we carry in our harts and will never ever forget. We stayed with them for 5 long beautiful years. We sadly had to leave only because I had to move far away in order to be closer to my school and work which was almost two hours far away. Every parent I got to meet, has had a great experience with every single teacher and personal that works at this caregiving, highly educational, nourishing and loving place for our children. Their food is exceptional, the education is always up to date and focuses on every child needs and concerns individually. Everyone including the owner were very warm, friendly, kind, and helpful. There were always amazing and exiting activities, field-trips, and constant learning. Annual studio photos taken for the children and even us parents. The facility is carefully crafted, cleaned and conditioned with tools, toys, bathroom, sleeping area, playground area, and lets not forget our amazing cook and her delicious fresh food served every day. They are always very lenient about following the School District and Daycare policies and procedures and are always up to date. Each child’s needs, safety and education are their priority to were everyone there works hard to create a positive and enduring experience for each child. The owner and her entire work force, are constantly taking workshops, seminars and classes from child care safety to CPR, emergency preparedness, you name it. There is actually a special container placed in the facility, based on specific rules and procedures in the event of an emergency, a disaster or an earthquake. It is filled with with special food and emergency supplies, which I think we should all do the same.
It is my favorite place, I truly commend you to trust your child always be in good hands here. It is simple a unique and special place in every single way because it is simply in their core to love, care for what they do. They simply know what is best and I am sure will continue be an exceptional example hopefully for many many years to come. They are our family, and will continue always be part of our family. Thank you from the bottom of our harts. We miss you!!
You are the best in what you do. Never change!…

Troy – The ancient city of Troy or the legendary Ilion
Ancient Troy or the legendary Ilion
Troy – probably, there are few in the world who have not heard the name of this legendary city at least once in their lives, who have not heard of the famous Trojan horse which dramatically changed the course of Trojan War . Starting from Homer’s Iliad , which describes the fifty-one days of the last year of the Trojan War , about Troy a lot has been said and written. Troy has always interested and continues to interest a variety of scientists: archaeologists, historians, writers and local historians. Did you know that Troy is located in Turkey?
The Trojan Horse is a symbol of Troy, located at the entrance to the National Historical Park
Where is Troy located? Troy on the map
“ Troy ” and “ Ilion ” are two different names for the same mighty city in Asia Minor, at the entrance from the Aegean Sea to Strait Dardanelles (Hellespont) . The city was located on an ancient maritime trade route that connected the Aegean Sea with the Sea of Marmara and the Black Sea. Troy dominated the strait and this allowed the city to become a key center of trade between East and West during the Bronze Age.

Location of Troy
According to Homer , the river Scamander and Simois flowed near the city. The river Scamander (tour. Karamenderes) originates on the slopes of mountains Ida , which are now called Kaz-Dag. When Troy was first founded, it was located on the shores of the bay of the same name. But what we see today is no longer a bay, but a large plain, because the alluvial sediments of the rivers Scamander and Simois gradually accumulated and for many centuries these river sediments practically filled the bay. Today, the ruins of ancient Troy are located in Turkey, 30 km from the city of Canakkale, not far from the village of Tevfikiye .

Excavations of Troy and “Priam’s Treasure”
For a long time, the very existence of Troy was considered a myth or an invention of Homer, and no one knew the exact location of Troy . The geographical descriptions given in Homer’s Iliad led some scholars to suggest that the ruins of Troy may be in the northwest of Asia Minor, somewhere at the entrance to the Dardanelles (on the territory of modern Turkey ). In 1870, the famous self-taught archaeologist Heinrich Schliemann , having received permission from the then Ottoman authorities, began excavation in the northwestern part of the hill Hissarlik (near the city Canakkale ). On May 31, 1873, , Schliemann discovered a treasure, which he hastily named “Priam’s Treasure.” Later it turned out that this is not “Priam’s Treasure” , because the age of the treasure was a thousand years older than the times described by the blind poet Homer .

According to the permission of the Ottoman government for the right to excavate Hissarlik , Schliemann was obliged to transfer half of the finds to the Archaeological Museum in Istanbul. But he hid the treasures from the Turkish authorities and smuggled them to Greece. In 1881, after unsuccessful attempts to sell the treasures to the largest museums in the world, Schliemann donated them to the city of Berlin, and this allowed him to become an honorary citizen of Berlin. Since 1945, Trojan treasure , taken as a trophy during the Second World War, is located in Moscow in the Pushkin Museum im. A.S. Pushkin.
Many still doubt that Schliemann discovered that same Troy , but one way or another, most scientists today are inclined to believe that Schliemann was still right, “Troy has been excavated, and there is no second one.”
Troy Attractions
Due to its strategic location, after every devastating war or devastating earthquake, the city was restored and life in Troy began again. That is why these days0004 archaeological object represents nine main cultural layers that belong to different eras. Troy is one of the most famous archaeological sites in Turkey and in the world, and is included in the UNESCO World Heritage List.
Modern science has 9 main cultural layers of Troy
Cultural layers of Troy
Troy I
The most ancient archaeological traces of Troy date back to 2900 – 2500 BC e. Troy I was a small settlement and even in the prime of its existence was only 100 m in diameter. Despite its modest size, Troy I had a fortress with massive walls, gates and towers made of unhewn stone. This settlement existed for almost five centuries and, most likely, was destroyed by fire.

Troy II
Despite the fact that Troy I was destroyed by fire, which arose on the site of the ashes Troy II represents the revival of the lost city. The second cultural layer of Troy (2500-2300 BC) is one of the most impressive archaeological sites of the Early Bronze Age. Many treasures were discovered in this layer, including the treasure discovered by Schliemann, which he hastily called “Priam’s Treasure”. All these treasures of gold, silver, bronze and copper speak of active trading activity in the city. However, Troy II also collapsed, but as a result of a sudden attack, as evidenced by the discovered traces of intentional destruction.
Remains of a megaron (a simple type of temple) of Troy II – 2nd millennium BC e.
Troy III, IV and V
Troy III, IV and V are already larger settlements that existed from 2300-1800. BC e. Over the centuries, the citadel of the city has grown, but there are no concrete traces of the development of the city, on the contrary, traces of the decline of the city were found. In these settlements, groups of small houses are already observed, standing right next to each other, separated by small streets. Troy V was again destroyed by fire.
In the southwestern part of Troy there is a sanctuary with wells
Troy VI and VII
During this period a new royal palace-citadel was built in Troy. In size, the new citadel surpassed not only the old one, but any other in western Asia Minor. Built of hewn stone and reinforced with massive towers, the new fortress walls of the city were 4 to 5 meters thick. All this testifies to wealth, prosperity and power Troy in this period. But large vertical faults on the fortress wall in the VIth cultural layer of Troy (1800-1250 BC) , indicate that a strong earthquake occurred. After the earthquake, on the site of the destroyed settlement, life began to emerge again. The Trojan War and the events mentioned by Homer in the Iliad refer to either Troy VI or Troy VII (1250-1025 BC).
Fortress walls of Homeric Troy (Troy VI or VII)
Troy VIII and IX
According to modern scientists, Troy abandoned after the war was settled by the Greeks 250 years later, that is, during the life of Homer. At first, a small settlement arose on the site of old Troy, then the city grew. On the territory of Troy there was a temple of Athena, as well as a sanctuary for sacrifices (900-85 BC). According to Arrian (ancient Greek historian and geographer), Alexander the Great made a pilgrimage to Troy and visited the temple of Athena. From the temple of Athena, only a few fragments of altars and marble fragments have come down to us. With the growth of the power of the Roman state, a legend arose that it was the descendants of the Trojan Aeneas who founded Rome . Therefore, the Romans honored Troy . Gaius Julius Caesar ordered the expansion of the temple of Athena after his visit there in 48 BC. Augustus, who replaced him, also ordered the construction of a boulevterion (council hall) and an odion for musical performances in the “sacred Ilion”.

The ancient city of Troy | World Tourism
Thanks to Homer, Troy is without a doubt the most popular and perhaps the most famous archaeological site in Turkey. The remains of the ancient city, known by the Turkish name Truva, are located 20 kilometers south of Canakkale, west of the main highway. They are a rather pathetic sight, but if you lower your expectations and call upon your imagination, it can still make the right impression on you.
Today the ruins are not as run down as they used to be. With the help of modern scientific methods, fragments lost during previous excavations have been restored. The work that was carried out under the direction of Dr. Manfred Korfman helped to understand the plan of the area to such an extent that, at least, its general scheme became clear and an understanding of which settlements were located here at different historical times appeared.

A Brief History of Troy
Until 1871, it was believed that Troy existed only in legends. The Troad plain, on which the ruins lay, was associated with Troy described by Homer in the Iliad, but all traces of the city had already completely disappeared by that time. In 1868, the German businessman Heinrich Schliemann (1822-189) who had grown rich in America0 years) received permission from the Ottoman government to begin excavations on a hill known in Turkey as Hisarlik, where the remains of a classical temple and signs of even more ancient structures had already been found.
South Gate of Troy VI
Schliemann was born into a poor family in Mecklenburg and at an early age began to get involved in the legends and myths of Ancient Greece. Unable to study history professionally (although he taught himself ancient Greek in addition to several modern languages), he amassed a considerable fortune during the California gold rush of 1849.year, at the age of 46 he abandoned commerce and became the most famous and celebrated amateur archaeologist in the world.
Schliemann’s careless work resulted in significant damage to the excavation site, which was somewhat smoothed out by the first professional archaeologist working in Troy, Carl William Blegen, who arrived in Troy in 1932. Schliemann found the so-called Priam Treasure, a large cache of fine jewelry, which was taken to Berlin and exhibited there until 1941 years old when it was hidden for safety somewhere under the Zoo subway station.
Trojan horse
In May 1945, after the Red Army captured Berlin, the treasure was lost. For a long time it was suspected that he was taken to the USSR, and in August 1993 it magically appeared in Moscow. Today, there is a struggle between Germany and the Russian Federation for the legal recognition of the treasure as belonging to one country or another. Simultaneously with the trial, a thorough examination of the jewelry is taking place to determine whether it was fraudulently collected by Schliemann from various excavation sites in Asia Minor. Whatever the shortcomings of Schliemann’s work, his first haphazard excavations uncovered nine layers that clearly demonstrated the successive growth of the city over four millennia.
The very first layer, Troy I, dates back to 3600 BC. It is followed by four more layers of similar settlements. It is believed that Homer described Troy IV or Troy VII: the first was destroyed by an earthquake around 1275 BC, the second was badly damaged by a fire about a quarter of a century later. It is to this time that historians usually attribute the events of the Trojan War. Troy VIII, which reached its peak between 700 and 300 BC, was Greek, and most of the structures of Troy IX (300 BC – 300 AD) were built during the glory days of the Roman Empire.
Although it is not certain whether the Trojan War actually took place, there are ample indications that the city was indeed the scene of some kind of military conflict, even if it was not the ten-year confrontation between the two armies described by Homer in the Iliad. It is possible that the epic of Homer is based on the fact of the many years of struggle between the Mycenaean Greeks and the inhabitants of Troy, who were either trading partners or commercial rivals. Homer’s version of events turned this shaky world into a full-blown heroic drama, in which even the ancient Greek gods took part.

The excavation site (open to the public in May-September, 8.00-19.00, in October-April – 8.00-17.00) is indicated by the final stop of dolmush and the ticket office with the inscription “Gise”. It’s a good idea to buy two small books with Dr. Manfred Korfmann’s A Tour of Troia map in the little shop at the entrance, which will help you navigate the area and offer information labeled with numbers corresponding to one or another of the objects depicted in the pictures.
From the ticket office, a long, straight road leads to a giant wooden horse (which would have delighted Aunt Dot in Rose Macaulay’s novel) and the excavation house, which features a scale model of the area and a great video about the history of Troy and the archaeological work going on here. Further there is the ruined city itself, which stretches to the sea for 8 kilometers. A circular path runs along it with twelve diagrams to help you navigate the terrain.
The excavation is a rather pale sight, and you leave it convinced that there is really little left in Troy. However, when you stand on the ramparts and look at the plain stretching at your feet, it is not at all difficult to imagine the camp of the legendary Greek army besieging the city below. The most impressive surviving remnants of the city are the east wall and the gates of Troy VI (1700-1275 BC), 330 meters around the city from the east and south.
Wall ruins in Troy II
Inward-sloping walls 6 meters high and over 4 meters wide had to be lined with an additional top layer of brick. The ramparts are lined with flat stone slabs of Troy II (2500-2300 BC), which used to pave the road to the entrance to the citadel. Somewhere nearby, Schliemann found the treasure of Priam, which he used as evidence that he had found precisely Homeric Troy.
In fact, this statement was erroneous, and Troy II, who died in the fire, had nothing to do with Homer. Inside the fortress there is an impressive building of the House with columns from the times of Troy VI. The most important monument of Roman Troy IX, or Ilion, is the temple of Athena, restored by Alexander the Great according to the promise he made to his commander Lysimachus after he visited the sanctuary and left his weapons as a gift to the gods. The remains of the temple found by Schliemann confirmed that it had a Doric order.
Fragments of its ceiling can still be seen here, but the most famous relief of the temple, which depicts Apollo pacifying four hooving stallions, is today in Berlin. The remains of two more sanctuaries located in the west of the excavation indicate that Troy was an important religious center during the time of the Greeks and Romans. These temples were also restored after Alexander the Great visited the city. Since the layout of the sanctuaries is similar to that of the temple in Pergamon, it is believed that the goddesses Cybele and Demeter were worshiped here.

Recommendations for visiting Troy
The best place to visit the excavations of Troy is from Canakkale. A couple of local tour companies organize guided tours there for about 30 lire. In their offices they may tell you that no dolmush go to Troy. In fact, they go there from Canakkale every twenty minutes. Their final stops are near the minibus garage, opposite the market on Atatürk Street, and in the village of Tefvikiye, right at the entrance to the excavation site. The trip takes only half an hour.
If you are traveling further south, it is best to take the Troja-Canakkale minibus to the intersection with the main road, and from there change to any southbound bus. In Tefvikia, there is an overpriced Hisarlik Inn with a restaurant and bar located in front of the ticket office on the road leading to the excavation site.
-
Alexandria Troas
At Ezine, 20 kilometers south of Troy, a highway branches off the main road that heads towards the coast and after 15 kilometers leads to another grand excavation site, the ancient city of Alexandria Troas.

Schedules
Register for a Class
Group exercise classes are a great way to stay active and motivated. Your tribe is waiting for you! Your safety is our top priority. Reservations are required for group exercise classes and lap swimming to maintain our members’ health and safety. We can’t wait to see you!
Togetherness
Group exercise promotes motivation and inspiration by allowing class members to cheer each other on, coach each other on form and offer that extra push when needed.
Motivation
Becoming a regular fitness class fosters relationships throughout our community including instructors, allowing everyone to feel comfortable and excited to come to class each day.
Reservations
Sometimes just getting to class is the hardest mental part of your workout, so knowing a spot is reserved just for you provides a sense of accountability.
Online Reservations
Scheduled fitness classes are a great way to stay active and motivated and get to know other members who attend the same YMCA.
Reserving a spot in one of our fitness or water aerobics classes is quick and easy to do! Our schedules are posted online and registration is convenient and secure. You can register for just one or multiple classes at a time up to 72 hours in advance.
Step 01: Find Your Facility

Frequently Asked Questions
What type of membership do I need to register for a group class?
Any member who has a facility membership is able to register and attend group exercise classes at a YMCA center as a member benefit.
How do I reserve a spot in class?
When you find a class you’d like to take, click “sign up.” Please register for all classes and cancel your registration if you are unable to attend. If you do not cancel your registration you will be tagged as a no-show. If you have 10 no-shows in 30 days you will be blocked from registering for 7 days. We are happy to help you with registrations and cancellations if you are new to the process.
Who can take group exercise classes?
Anyone 13 and older. Youth ages 10 to 14 meet with a personal trainer to learn important healthy lifestyle skills and review facility rules and guidelines for safety in the fitness center. Classes include education on age-appropriate equipment, nutrition, and how to develop a fitness routine. Upon completion of the class, participants ages 10 to 12 are allowed to use the cardio and strength equipment within arm’s reach of a parent and 13-14 without a parent on the fitness floor.
What if I start taking a class and it’s too hard?
Our instructors often provide options for movement in a class, so if it is too difficult you can adjust to make it more comfortable for yourself. If it is still too difficult, please feel comfortable to do as much as you can before leaving the class. You tried and did your best, which is what matters. Also, check our group exercise schedule for a different level for the class. We often offer multiple levels for classes, so you can attend a class that meets your skill level. Feel free to come back and try again!
Should I talk to an instructor before class?
Yes, you should try to introduce yourself to the instructor. Share your skill level and any information he/she may need to know about you so they can provide appropriate options and modifications to keep you safe and provide the best experience possible. The more they know about your goals and expectations, the better equipped they will be to help make you successful in their class and also recommend others you may enjoy. Instructors love to meet and guide new students!

5 Maryland Schools of Aesthetics 2023
Maryland Schools of Aesthetics are among the best schools of aesthetics in the Northern Hemisphere as they place a strong emphasis on producing highly qualified professionals.
Maryland beauty schools are the best, you can’t argue with that, but I know some of you are wondering – like me when I first got the note to write about this – who is a beautician.
There is a simple answer to this: “ Beautician , or more specifically, someone who provides services that place a strong emphasis on the care of people’s skin, including but not limited to skin care, facials, makeup, and hair removal. But their work and their functions entail a whole world of additional details, so if you want to become a beautician, stay with me on this journey.
Beauty schools in Maryland are on the same path to academic excellence that sets this state apart from other states and even some countries. And for this reason, online colleges accredited in Indiana are carefully sorted by both national and international students.
Well, sorry to tell you a little secret, I’m going to – only this time – tell you how I see and define beauty. Because this theme, for which we went on this journey, is based on beauty and creativity, which is the basis of the way I see things, because it is written: “Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. ”
It’s time to put this show on tour.

A “little kibbutz” flourishes near Washington » Evpatoria Time
We are located in the Washington suburbs, which is known as the “little kibbutz”. Indeed, it can rightly be called the center of Jewish culture in the region.
School visits are one of the most effective ways to appreciate the development of Jewish culture in a “little kibbutz”. At least one in ten Farmland Primary School students is from Israel.
Local resident Zehavi Kendel:
“I have been living here for quite some time. We moved from the Chevy Chase area as there is a Jewish day school nearby. In addition, it was faster and more convenient for me to get to work. But the location of the Jewish day school played a key role in the decision to move here, because it is close to home, and my children can easily get home if necessary.”
Farmland Elementary School, a private Jewish day school, are just some of the many Jewish institutions located in the area. In the heart of the suburbs is the Shawreen Café, one of the few kosher establishments in Washington.
Café Owner Shawreen Mina Torabi:
kebab, shawarma, falafel.
Are all your meals kosher?
Café owner Shawreen Mina Torabi:
“Yes, we work under the direction of a rabbi. ”
Visitors come to the cafe to taste homemade food, such as the famous Israeli cuisine. like falafel, shirazi salad, tabbouleh salad and pita hummus. This is a favorite place for the inhabitants of the “little kibbutz”.
Cafe owner Shawreen Mina Torabi:
“Tourists from Israel often come here first. It seems to me that this happens because they feel at home here, surrounded by friends and relatives. There are also several schools where predominantly Israelis study.”
Zehavi Kendel moved here from Israel about forty years ago because she got a job as secretary to the press officer at the Israeli embassy. The woman raised three children. Her house has a huge collection of Jewish art.
Local resident Zehavi Kendel:
“Of course, I would advise many people to live here. For example, Israeli diplomats who move to this country rent housing in this particular suburb.

AMERICA’S MOST ACCREDITED
We’re so proud!
Nationally only 10% of daycares are accredited – nearly 100% of our learning centers are. That’s a big difference,
and that means KinderCare kids are getting the very best. Here’s why.
SCHOOL-READY
What Learning Looks Like
Our talented early-childhood teachers set kids down the path toward becoming lifelong learners in a positive, safe, and nurturing environment.
Bensalem KinderCare Programs
Infant Programs (6 weeks–1 year)
Leaving your baby in someone else’s care is a big step. Everyone at our
centers—most importantly, our naturally gifted infant teachers—will work with
you to make sure the transition goes smoothly. When you step into our infant
classroom, you’ll see how much we want your infant to feel safe, loved, and
ready to explore their world.
Toddler Programs (1–2 Years)
Everything in our toddler classroom is designed for little explorers. That’s
because a lot is going on at this age. When your child is wandering all over the
place, that means they’re learning and discovering new things every day. We’ll
help them explore their interests (and find new ones!) as they play and learn.
Discovery Preschool Programs (2–3 Years)
This age is filled with so much wonder and curiosity. That’s why we offer a ton
of books and toys and bring artwork down to kids eye level. Children in
discovery preschool also begin to learn how we all work together in a
classroom. Simple math and science, pretend play, and group play help them
get used to a more structured school setting.
Preschool Programs (3–4 Years)
This age is all about expression, when kids really start to form their own ideas
about what they want to play and how they want to create. Every day in our
preschool classroom, your child will explore science experiments, create
artwork, and play pretend—all the skills needed for their big next step:
kindergarten!
Prekindergarten Programs (4–5 Years)
When you walk into one of our pre-K classrooms, you’ll see artwork and
writing displayed around the room. Labels are everywhere to help kids connect
letters with words. You’ll also see pictures on the walls that reflect the families
in our community. Your child will also deepen their knowledge in language,
math, science, Spanish, and social skills.
Learning Adventures – Enrichment Program
Cooking Academy™ (3 – 12 Years)
In Cooking Academy, kids learn new recipes from cultures around the world and
develop a healthy relationship with food. They’ll whip up everything from Southwest
rainbow lettuce wraps to pumpkin muffins, building their skills in STEM, communication,
and more along the way. And yes—little chefs get to eat their culinary creations!
Music Explorers™ (2 – 4 Years)
KinderCare families are already giving a standing ovation to our newest Learning
Adventures program: Music Explorers! Kids will learn to sing, move, listen, play
instruments, and even create their own tunes. Our original curriculum blends math,
science, social studies, literacy, and mindfulness (think yoga!) for a uniquely KinderCare
way of learning the foundations of music.
Phonics Adventures® (2 – 4 Years)
Learning how to read is a whole lot of fun at KinderCare! We help kids grow to love
books and words (and get ready for kindergarten) in our Phonics Adventures program.
From discovering the basics of vowels to practicing poetry, kids learn all about letters
and sounds in small-group lessons made just for their age group. (Bonus: Kids who
attend our phonics program are more prepared than their peers for school—and we
have the data to prove it.)
STEM Innovators (3-8 Years)
You’ve probably heard a lot about how important STEM education is for your child, but
what does that really mean? Our STEM Innovators program takes kids’ natural ability to
make sense of the world and applies it to robotics, chemistry, coding, geology, and
more. While your child experiments, they’ll discover how to use technology to do
amazing things!
Our Teachers
We’re the only company in early childhood education to select teachers based on natural talent. Being a great educator isn’t enough though.
KinderCare teachers are also amazing listeners, nurturers, boo-boo fixers, and smile-makers. Put more simply,
we love our teachers and your child will, too.
Meet just a few of our amazing KinderCare teachers!
A KINDERCARE TEACHER WITH
An Artist’s Heart
“My classroom is full of art!” says Mary Annthipie-Bane, an award-winning early childhood educator at KinderCare. Art and creative expression, she says, help children discover who they really are.
We put our best-in-class teachers in a best-in-class workplace. We’re so proud to have been named one of Gallup’s 37 winners of the Great Workplace Award.
When you put great teachers in an engaging center, your children will experience
an amazing place to learn and grow.
Family Stories
Don’t take our word for it. Hear what our families have to say about our amazing center!
-
I have been a family of KinderCare for over 15 years. The KinderCare teachers have helped prepare all three of my boys for Head Start, Kindergarten, and achieve in reading. If it wasn’t for KinderCare, I would not be able to work. They transport my children to school and pick them up for me; I know they are getting school safely and I can get to work on time. The staff at the Bensalem KinderCare is the best! We think of them as part of our family. They are always warm and friendly, and it is nice to see how my boys love their teachers. Lastly, the summer camp is always a fun experience for my children. It is comforting to know that my boys are having a great time, whether on a field trip or in house activities. I always tell families that if they need a great childcare center to take their children too, I highly recommend KinderCare.
Linda M. – KinderCare Parent
-
We waited until Matthew was almost a year old before we were ready to have anyone outside our family watch him. When we finally decided to look at day care center, it was important to us to find a place with teachers who would love him like we do and have creative, educational activities. Right away, we loved the energy of the teachers at KinderCare. We knew he had a great relationship with his teachers when we saw one of them in the mall and he immediately put his arms out for her to pick him up! Now he perks right up whenever he hears any of their names and walks right into his room in the morning!

We have been a KinderCare family since 2007. My kids love KinderCare! They enjoy going there every day and look forward to all of the activities planned for the day. I am so grateful for the great job the teachers are doing with my kids. I cannot ask for a better daycare. We are currently attending KinderCare and would recommend this center to all families. KinderCare is my #1 daycare and I want to thank all the staff for a great job. Waking my kids up every morning is not painful, they do not cry, they love all the staff and are excited for school. Their excitement is what motivates me and keeps my kids at KinderCare. Thank you again!

“Amazing and powerful! This book is a real breath of fresh air that gives hope and gives you the tools to achieve happiness and enlightenment. Dr. Burns is convinced that your suffering, negative thoughts and feelings are not symptoms of a mental disorder. No, it is the expression of the most amazing and beautiful part of you. Be warned: this is not a book where you can read page after page and wait for change to come. To quickly and radically change your life, you need to perform the exercises given in it. If you’re ready to roll up your sleeves and get to work, this book is for you!”

Warning
The ideas and techniques presented in this book are not meant to replace consultation with a qualified professional. The names and any details that might reveal the identities of the patients described in the book have been changed. Any resemblance to real people, living or deceased, is purely coincidental.
When I describe a case of depression or anxiety, and also give an example of how a particular technique works, I usually choose a situation with a positive outcome and talk about a cure. Quite often in the examples, patients achieve improvements quickly and without the so-called rollback. This approach helps the reader to quickly learn the use of various techniques and gives him hope – and this, in my opinion, is the main condition for healing.
However, I ask you not to take these examples as a guarantee that the same techniques will be equally effective for you, your friends or loved ones. We are all unique and react differently to the same methods. Therefore, although the techniques I have described are indeed effective, not every reader of this book or psychotherapist’s client will be able to achieve such a rapid and radical change in life.
Some more severe problems will require a longer course of treatment. But just as I never cease to believe in the best when I work with my patients, I urge you not to give up. This approach has proven to be incredibly effective: once you take the first steps, moving towards your goal will be much easier.
This book is dedicated to Obie, my best friend and mentor, who sadly left me in the fall of 2016, and to Rob, my method’s most dedicated follower!

Introduction
Then and Now
When we were living in Philadelphia, my wife and I needed to make repairs to our house. It lasted a couple of weeks. On the last day, Frank, our carpenter, was finishing some work at the front door. As I passed him, I noticed that he looked upset. Then I told Frank that my wife and I are delighted with how he worked on our house, making it even more beautiful, and we are sad to say goodbye.
Frank thanked me and asked if he could ask me a question. He heard that I was a psychiatrist, but did not want to seem intrusive. I replied that I would be happy to help if I could. Frank told me that he felt depressed and asked if I knew about depression and if I could recommend any medicine.
I couldn’t help but help him, because he worked so hard for us, and so I told Frank that depressive experiences are often the result of our thinking. And he wondered if Frank had noticed lately that mood swings were accompanied by bad thoughts, which he thought he was talking to himself.
Frank replied that he thought about aging a lot. He told himself that his body would soon cease to cope with the previous rhythm, and was afraid that then he would not have enough money to provide for himself and his wife in retirement. After leaving school, he was engaged only in carpentry. Now, in his sixties, he suddenly realized that he had never done anything significant in his life. Frank looked like he was about to burst into tears.
I sympathized with him. And then I suggested that he try to apply the so-called technique of double standards, which, as it seemed to me, could help him. By the way, most of us unconsciously use this technique. When we are frustrated or unable to achieve our goal, we tend to berate ourselves and subject ourselves to harsh criticism. But if a close friend had similar problems, we would treat him with much more compassion and support. The technique is to recognize this fact and then ask yourself: Am I ready to talk to myself with the same compassion and support that I would give to a close friend? Not all methods are suitable for everyone, but this one is usually effective for everyone who uses it.
I asked Frank to imagine that he was talking to a close friend who looked very much like him, like a clone of him or a lost twin brother. This imaginary friend was also a carpenter and is about to retire. And he, too, from the very school was engaged only in carpentry. I asked Frank what he would say to such an interlocutor if he admitted that he felt as depressed as Frank himself. Would he say the following to his friend?
Yes, you are getting old. Your body is starting to fail you. And if you retire, you will run out of money and you will not be able to provide for your wife and family. You have never done anything significant in your entire life.
Frank didn’t understand me at first. He confirmed that would have told to a friend because it was true.
I said, “Okay, let’s make sure we understand each other. Let’s pretend I’m your friend. My name is David, but otherwise I’m just like you. I am also a carpenter, and my life is exactly the same as yours. Tell me all this: that I’m getting old, that my body is starting to fail me, that my life was meaningless, and so on.
Frank was thoughtful and was silent for about ten seconds. And then he said, “Doc, I’m not sure you can say that to a friend.”
I asked, “Why?”
Frank explained that it would be cruel to humiliate a friend he likes like that, and that all these statements seemed to him not fair enough, if not completely wrong.
I asked Frank what he would say to David, his friend. Frank replied:
Even though you are getting older, you can still do a great job. Even if you reduce your workload—and you deserve it, in truth—you will still be productive. And, my God, look how wonderfully you did on this house! The owners are delighted, and the result of your work really looks great! By the way, even if you decide to retire, you have good savings, and you and your wife can live on them. Finally, and perhaps most importantly, think about the joy you have brought to the lives of the people you have worked for all these years. You were never complained about, you always did a good job at a fair price and never deceived anyone. This is what is indeed important. You have something to be proud of!
I told Frank that he sounded right, and then asked if it was true or if he said it to support me.
Frank replied that it was pure true.
Then I asked: “If these words are true for me, and I am exactly the same as you, maybe they are true for you too?”
He thought for a moment and then answered: “Probably they are true about me too. You’re right!”
I explained to him that the reason for his depressive mood was not aging, but that he thought negatively about life. The harsh words he spoke to himself would upset anyone. I asked Frank if he was ready to talk to himself the way he would talk to a close friend who looks a lot like him.
At that moment a light bulb went on in his head and Frank exclaimed, “So the problem is just as I think? In my negative thoughts?
I answered yes.
He said, “Wow, I feel much better! Thanks, doc!”
I explained to him that the technique we used was cognitive therapy, because with it we learn to change the way we think, that is, our cognitions. And we did it in five minutes, and he didn’t have to take pills.
I LOVE when this happens. This is one of the main joys in my life. That’s why I wrote Mood Therapy almost forty years ago. I want people to understand the following:
1. You FEEL the way you THINK. In other words, your negative emotions, such as discouragement and anxiety, are the result of your thoughts, not your life circumstances.
2. Negative thoughts that upset you, almost always confused and turned upside down. They do not reflect the true state of things.
3. If you change the way you THOUGHT, you can change your FEELING.
And that’s what really matters. Change can happen very quickly, even if you are feeling severely overwhelmed and anxious.
A few days ago I received a stunning letter from my esteemed colleague, Dr. Robert Schachter:
I want to share an experience that moved me to tears. A woman from Nebraska—her daughter, my New York patient, is twenty years old—reported that she had been deeply impressed by Mood Therapy since her daughter was born.
A woman told a story that happened when her daughter went to kindergarten. Her daughter’s teacher was fired. The woman treated the teacher well and was very worried about her, so she came to her house and left the book “Mood Therapy” on the doorstep.
Their paths parted, and when they met after some time, the teacher said: “I want to thank you. Know that you saved my life! My father committed suicide, and the day you came I was going to follow him. This book saved me. Thank you”. And then my patient’s mother said, “God bless Dr. Burns!”
I have received tens of thousands of letters from people with depression who have read Mood Therapy. At first it was surprising, because I never thought that this book can be used to help yourself. I was just sharing my excitement about the then new non-drug treatment for depression called cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), pioneered by Drs. Albert Ellis and Aaron Beck. I had no idea that this book itself would have an antidepressant effect.
However, since then the effect of Mood Therapy has been confirmed by numerous published studies. For example, Dr. Forrest Scogin of the University of Alabama believes that just giving a book to a patient in need of treatment for moderate to severe depression can increase the likelihood of sustained relief for four weeks without other treatment by 65%. In addition, follow-up studies after two and three years have shown that these patients continue to improve without psychotherapy and antidepressants.
Many researchers have confirmed that the effect of “bibliotherapy” (healing by reading) from “Mood Therapy” is comparable to psychotherapy or antidepressant treatment. Such conclusions are very pleasing, because buying a book is much cheaper than being treated by a psychotherapist or taking medication. And it has no side effects!
But there is another side of the coin. What about those 35% of patients who not cured and who not felt better after reading the book? Why didn’t their condition change? How are they different from people who feel better in four weeks? I thought that if I figured it out, I could make another breakthrough.
Having spent thousands of hours of individual consultations with patients who suffered from severe depression and anxiety, and published many studies on why psychotherapy works or not, I found the answer. That is why I wrote this book.
Unlike Mood Therapy, which was about the cognitive revolution, this book is about the motivational revolution. It is based on a simple idea – sometimes we get “stuck” in a depressed state and anxiety due to a difficult attitude towards healing. Even though we may desperately yearn for change and freedom from suffering, some powerful forces are preventing us from moving on. As strange as it may sound, something within us can fight against the desired changes, resist them.
This is what Freud long ago, in the early days of psychoanalysis, called “resistance.” And while most therapists have since talked a lot about resistance, few have explained why we resist change and how to deal with it. And this is where this book comes in handy. With a new approach to CBT called TEAM , you can overcome resistance and heal quickly.
The TEAM approach has evolved from my clinical experience and research into the real effects of psychotherapy. It has the best elements of CBT I described in the first book, but it works much faster.
This is what the name TEAM means:
T = Testing My colleagues and I check our patients’ symptoms at the beginning and end of each appointment to see if they have improved or not.
E = Empathy At the beginning of each consultation, we listen to the patient and try to build a warm, trusting relationship with him without trying to save him.
A = Assessment of Resistance We try to help each patient turn resistance into awareness and reduce it before starting treatment. When resistance disappears, the patient is usually highly motivated. This allows us to achieve excellent results together.
M = Methods (from English Methods ). We show the patient how to quickly turn depressive experiences and anxiety into joy.
As you read this book, you and I will act as a powerful team (from English team – team) that destroys negative thought-triggers, such as “I’m not good enough” or “I’m spoiled.” Working together, we will become a great force that can quickly move mountains of pain.
Here’s how it works: In the first section of the book, I’ll show you how to change how you feel and think using the latest techniques, including those that help you move away from resistance. In the second section, I will talk about the most effective ways to get rid of negative thoughts that can lead to depressive feelings, anxiety and anger.
In the third section, I will show you how to overcome the belief that you as a person are not good enough or unworthy, and I will tell you about the four “Great deaths” of the ego, which correspond to the cure for depression, anxiety, relationship problems, and also from bad habits and addictions.
We all know that no one can be happy around the clock: bumps lie in wait for each of us on the road of life. Therefore, in the fourth section of the book, I will show you how to quickly deal with such situations and not lose your good mood after you are cured!
Finally, in sections four and five, Dr. Mark Noble, my amazing colleague, will show you how you can rewire your brain with TEAM and why it’s so much more effective than antidepressants or traditional talking therapy. I’ll also talk about exciting new research on depression and anxiety and provide you with many additional free resources.
TEAM – therapy not only can lead to an incredibly fast recovery from depressive and anxiety conditions, but also includes changes that go beyond simple recovery. Many patients experience a deep joy that can only be described as a spiritual transformation—one that involves a mind-blowing change in outlook on life and which I consider the key to mental health.
I truly believe that TEAM -CBT represents the greatest breakthrough in treatment in nearly fifty years since the advent of CBT. And that is why I am so happy to share this book with you.
I wrote it for two groups of readers – for therapists who want to explore more effective and satisfying treatments, and for people who suffer from depression and anxiety. I hope that these amazing new techniques will help those in need to break free of doubt and despair and feel great again!

Sabantuy, Sabantuy! Sing, jump, fight, dance!
06/16/2023
Already everything around breathes beauty: the gardens are green and blooming, the sun is gently warming, cheerful trills of birds are heard. Spring field work has come to an end. All this is a wonderful occasion to get together and celebrate the national holiday Sabantuy. From the Tatar language, Sabantuy is translated as a plow holiday. This is a holiday of agriculture, honoring Mother Earth, a day of worship to her. This holiday is the brightest, most cheerful and most beloved among the peoples of our region. It strengthens friendship between different nations, because it attracts guests from all over our great homeland. Sabantuy is always celebrated cheerfully and incendiary. On this holiday, people compete in strength, agility and endurance. Here we are with the guys under the motto “Sabantuy, Sabantuy! Sing, jump, fight, dance!” gathered on the green lawn of the garden to greet the summer nature, compete, have fun, try your luck, show courage and ingenuity. Our guys, smartly dressed in the spirit of folk traditions, and the garden area beautifully decorated with balls and flags with prepared paraphernalia in the form of ropes, horses, balls, delighted the eyes of all those present. Our holiday was held in the form of competitions and competitions, traditional for Sabantuy. It is nice to realize that the families of our pupils honor folk traditions and remember their history, thus showing that Sabantuy is, first of all, a family holiday. The children were well prepared, were in excellent sports shape, cheerfully and provocatively took part in the tasks of the leaders, demonstrating the will to win. The teachers did not lag behind the kids, actively taking part in competitions and causing friendly bursting laughter. There are no losers in the holiday, since Sabantuy is a holiday of peace and friendship. We wish our guys to remain the same united, smart, brave and skillful! Thanks to everyone who participated in the organization of the holiday. Everyone, without exception, received an unprecedented charge of positive emotions, and positive impressions from the holiday will remain with all its participants for a long time.

Happy holiday! Happy Russia Day!
06/12/2023
Summer is a sea of joy, fun and outdoor walks under the gentle rays of the sun. However, even in the summer, it is necessary to competently organize active recreation for children for the comprehensive harmonious development of their creative abilities, the improvement of personal capabilities and familiarization with cultural, moral and patriotic values. Our whole country is celebrating a wonderful holiday – Russia Day! Our children are the future of our country, therefore it is very important from childhood to convey to the younger generation images that bring up patriotism, courage, devotion, selflessness, pride, respect and love for the Motherland, its peoples, the value and significance of state symbols. Therefore, we started preparing for the holiday long before this event – in each group, the guys had conversations about the flag, the anthem of Russia, the guys prepared posters, applications and drawings with the symbols of our country. As part of the celebration of the Day of Russia, educational quizzes were held with the children. Having gathered together on the garden site, the children met with fairy-tale characters Vasilisa and Koshchei. The children easily coped with the tasks of the quiz on knowledge of the theme of the holiday. During the holiday, our cheerful kids defiantly staged dance flash mobs and incendiary round dances, sang soulful songs about the Motherland and easily guessed riddles, played outdoor sports games and recalled Russian fairy tales and sayings with fairy-tale heroes. Our holiday turned out to be fascinating, informative, bright and spectacular. I would like to wish you to always be proud of your country, do things that contribute to its prosperity, do not forget your native traditions and culture, and be happy living in Russia! We wish you a peaceful and blue sky! May there always be sunshine and a holiday in your hearts. May your families be happy and healthy, and our country prosperous and prosperous in all respects! Happy holiday!

To the birthday of Pushkin A.S.
06/06/2023
Every year on June 6, Russia celebrates the birthday of the great poet Alexander Sergeevich Pushkin, whose literary work accompanies us throughout our lives. With the works of A.S. Pushkin’s children get acquainted with the kindergarten. And this is not surprising, because most of the work of the great poet is intended specifically for children. As a child, Pushkin was very fond of listening to fairy tales that his grandmother Maria Alekseevna and his nanny Arina Rodionovna told him. Subsequently, being a poet, Pushkin himself became the author of many wonderful fairy tales. At events in honor of Pushkin’s birthday, pupils travel through the poet’s fairy tales. Our educators instill love for the classics even in our youngest pupils. In each group, thematic conversations about the life and work of the poet are held.
