EDISON AS THE INVENTOR OF THE USE | Science and life

New York Times with a job offer, received letters with specific instructions: take a bus in the suburbs of New York to such and such a bus, drive to an inconspicuous factory-type building and ask for a certain Mr. Stevenson.

Neither diplomas, nor questionnaires, nor letters of recommendation were required from job applicants. They were asked to answer 163 different questions. Which is larger in area, Australia or Greenland? What wood are kerosene barrels made of? What is copra? What did James Watt invent? Which mountain is the highest in the world? And in America? It turned out that the famous inventor Edison was looking for employees and would hire those who correctly answered most of the questionnaire he had compiled.

The bulk of the candidates disappointed the employer. Of the 718 people who took the test, only 57 were able to correctly answer more than 70% of the questions (this was the threshold below which the inventor refused to work). And only 32 people gave more than 90% correct answers. Edison checked on his test and already working employees. Those who did not score the required number of points received a week’s salary and were fired.

Although the subjects were asked not to disclose the test questions to anyone, someone gave them to the newspapers, and wide circles of readers began to test their knowledge on the Edison questionnaire (Edison had to develop a new version for recruitment). Questions from the test began to be asked to celebrities and government officials, exposing gaps in their knowledge. With the light hand of Edison, all kinds of tests became fashionable. Kodak began to use a similar questionnaire when applying for a job. And the state of New Jersey began to subject everyone who wants to get into the civil service to a similar test. Later, psychologist Carl Brigham, developer of the New Jersey test, created a test for schoolchildren, the basic principles of which were used in many countries, and then led to the creation of our USE.

When Albert Einstein visited the United States in the same year, 1921, newspapermen attacked him with questions from Edison. After listening to these questions, the great physicist said that he did not intend to keep in mind, for example, the speed of sound, when its exact value can always be found in a reference book. From this incident, a common anecdote was born, according to which Edison, when meeting with Einstein, offered him several points of his questionnaire, and the scientist noted with chagrin that he would not have been able to get a job with Edison. This story got, for example, in the famous collection “Physicists are joking.” In fact, the two celebrities never met in person, although they spoke of each other with great respect in absentia.

In 1929, Edison announced a nationwide competition for the title of “America’s smartest schoolboy.” The jury included the inventor himself, Henry Ford, the pilot Charles Lindbergh and the founder of Kodak, George Eastman. The winner of the 49 finalists was 16-year-old Wilber Houston, who received a scholarship to continue his education at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Subsequently, Houston became one of the leaders of NASA, so in this case, Edison’s approach paid off.

It is curious that some (mainly mathematical) problems of this competition were published several years later by our well-known science popularizer Ya.

Pussy on blood: a monument to the soldiers of the Russian Expeditionary Force was desecrated in Paris On the night of February 7, unknown people painted the monument in the colors that members of the scandalous punk band

Pussy Riot wore. The vandals are calling for the release of the girls behind bars, reports Obsession .

The Russian Expeditionary Corps participated in the First World War in France. The monument is a statue of an officer, next to which stands a horse. The hooligans dressed the bronze warrior in a pink dress, pulling a yellow balaclava over his head, similar to those worn by participants Pussy Riot . Hooligans “awarded” the horse statue with a green veil and a blue balaclava. At the base of the monument, unknown people wrote: “Free Pussy Riot”.

This is not the first monument desecrated by supporters of Russian feminists. So, last summer, vandals similarly abused the monument to the Soviet army in Sofia, the capital of Bulgaria. They put women’s stockings on the heads of the soldiers. The unknown, however, did not leave any inscriptions on the monument.

Memorial to the soldiers and officers of the Russian Expeditionary Corps who fought as part of the allied armies in 1915-1918, was opened in Paris on June 21, 2011. It was designed by Russian sculptor Vladimir Surovtsev. The monument stands on the alley Cours-la-Reine – on the right bank of the Seine.
(from here)

It is curious how Gazeta.ru delicately and shaking hands wrote: “In Paris, unknown stylized a monument to the Russian Expeditionary Force in France under the image of the punk band Pussy Riot, two members of which were sentenced to two years in prison for “punk prayer” in the Cathedral of Christ the Savior.”
What a delicate, gentle word – “stylized”…
I wonder if a journalist had a similar sabbath at his father’s grave – would he also write about “stylization”?

We talked about scum, and now about the monument, and why it was erected…

During the turning point of the First World War, Russia, faithful to its allied obligations, sent an expeditionary force to Europe in 1916 to assist the allies. His main contingent defended, along with French troops, the Champagne-Ardenne region. The Russian infantry near Reims especially distinguished themselves, blocking the way to Paris for German divisions …

Commander-in-Chief of the French Army Marshal Ferdinand Foch wrote:
“If France was not erased from the map of Europe, it was primarily due to the courage of the Russian soldiers”.

Russian Expeditionary Corps on the Western Front

In response to an urgent request for help, the Sovereign Emperor ordered that special expeditionary troops be sent to France .
In pursuance of the Highest Command, four Russian separate brigades, two regiments each, with a total number of 750 officers and 45,000 non-commissioned officers and soldiers, arrived in France in 1916. The 1st and 3rd brigades were sent to the Champagne front. 2nd and 4th – to the Thessaloniki front, to Macedonia.

Both here in France, on the fields of Champagne, and in the wild mountains of Macedonia, Russian special regiments covered themselves with unfading military glory. But the sacrifice made on the altar of the Fatherland in a foreign land was also great. The graves of Russian soldiers are scattered throughout France and throughout Macedonia. The largest military Russian cemetery, where more than a thousand of our brothers rest, is located near Mourmelon (Marne).

Battle of Ain
At the international conference in Chantilly November 15 19On 1616, it was decided that in the coming spring to look for solutions to the war by going over to a general offensive on all fronts, provided with a maximum of forces and technical means. Russian troops were also involved in this offensive, which lasted until the end of April 1917.

The courage of the Russian soldiers, as well as the outstanding maneuvers of the Russian battalions, aroused the admiration of the French. In their reports about the April battle, the French called the Russian attack “brilliant”. The losses inflicted on the Germans by Russian troops in, in particular, the troops of Gen. Marushevsky were very impressive. All the trenches were filled with enemy corpses. However, Russian losses were also great. The losses of both Russian brigades, in one April operation, according to French sources, were determined at 5.183 hours, of which 70 officers.

It must be added that the attack of the 6th French Army ended in failure, but it is worthwhile to impartially state that the main and almost the only success in this grand battle of Ensk was in the sector of the VII Corps, which included both Russian special brigades.

Russian Legion of Honor
The revolution has come. Russia is out of order. The special regiments of the Expeditionary Corps were disbanded by the French command and military worker companies were made up of them. The allies were suffocating under the onslaught of the German hordes deployed from the eastern front. The name of the Russian was then synonymous with a traitor.
Hundreds of Russian soldiers, wounded in their national pride by the chaos in their homeland, and here by the contemptuous attitude of the allies, began to grow up to be sent to the Front. After long hesitation – so great was the distrust of the Russians, the formation of the Russian Legion was finally allowed – from volunteers of special regiments.

The heroism of the Russian soldier in France reached an extraordinary height in the combat work of the Russian Legion, which was included in the Moroccan shock division, the best division of France. The historian writes “who are these wonderful people who, shouting incomprehensible words, do the seemingly impossible – they pass that zone of death that neither the Zouaves nor the arrows could pass. These are the Russians of the Moroccan Division. GLORY TO THEM.”.

May 1918 The Germans abandon their best forces and tear at the front of the French army. In one leap, they jump over Chemin de Dam, cross the river Ain (…). The road to Paris is open. The Moroccan Division, thrown to the rescue, on horseback along the Soissons-Paris highway, takes the entire blow of the German boot. But the Germans bring fresh forces into battle and push the Zouaves in the center. At this critical moment, when it seemed that everything was already lost, the last reserve, the Russian Legion, rushed into the counterattack. The historian writes: “The Russian Legion rushes forward, with officers in front. Even the doctors, seized with the fervor of enthusiasm of this glorious phalanx, have forgotten their direct mission of mercy and, together with the fighters, break into the ranks of the enemy…”.
This battle cost the life of the Russian Legion, losing 85% of its staff and almost all officers. Then the French press of that time for the first time adds a flattering word and calls it the “Russian Legion of Honor”.

Later, the Russian Legion receives a long-awaited replenishment of volunteers from special regiments and, as part of a separate battalion, takes part in breaking through the fortified Hindenburg line. For the sacrifice with which the Russian Legion performed his maneuver, the courage and courage with which he carried it out under the enemy’s hurricane fire, he will be presented for an award by the French Commander-in-Chief and receives the “Military Cross” and “Forager” on the banner.

If the gap in the fortified line of the Hindenburg was not deep enough and did not bring a final solution, then the morale of the enemy was so undermined that he began to withdraw his troops … The Russian regiment was transferred to Lorraine, but rumors of negotiations had already spread.

After the armistice, the Russian Legion entered Germany, where it was sent to the city of Worms assigned to it for occupation.
Great was the surprise and indignation of the Germans to learn that their occupying troops were Russians. Our national white-blue-red flag was developed on the banks of the Rhine.

The word given by the Sovereign and Russia to the allies, represented by the Russian Legion of Honor, was kept.

Compiled according to the Instruction “Russian Expeditionary Corps”, pcs. captain of the 2nd Special Regiment V.A. Vasiliev

Here in honor of the soldiers and officers of the Russian Expeditionary Corps, who fulfilled their military duty, a monument was erected.

The monument, created by the Russian sculptor Vladimir Surovtsev, was opened on the Pont des Invalides on the right bank of the Seine, not far from the Pont Alexandre III and the Grand Palais exhibition center.

The project was funded by the Russian and French ministries of culture (Alexander Avdeev and Frédéric Mitterrand, respectively, were present at the opening ceremony), as well as by the Paris City Hall. By the way, it is interesting that the idea of creating such a monument belonged to the French Minister of Culture. François Fillon told journalists about this after the official speeches at the opening.
I am glad that Vladimir and I opened this monument in memory of Russian soldiers who participated in the First World War. It was Frédéric Mitterrand’s idea, and he spoke about it one rainy evening by the fireplace in the music pavilion of the Matignon Palace. It took less than a year and a half, and the monument was opened. For me, this is a beautiful symbol of the quality of Franco-Russian relations.

The opening ceremony was attended by a guard of honor represented by all branches of the French army, as well as the choir of the Sretensky Monastery, which performed the march of the Russian Expeditionary Corps “Kol is Glorious”, after the fabric covering was removed from the monument.
The ceremony ended with the march “Farewell of the Slavyanka” also performed by the choir of the Sretensky Monastery

For the author of the monument, People’s Artist of Russia Vladimir Surovtsev, this is already the fourth monument in France.

Vladimir Surovtsev
Any discovery is touching, exciting for the author. This is my third monument in Paris and my fourth in France. And each time, of course, is an extraordinary event. Every artist dreams of leaving his mark in Paris. Thank God, I succeeded. My projects have won competitions, and in this case, Mr. Mitterrand, the Minister of Culture, approved my project. And as a result, everything turned out, everything worked out.

Surovtsev worked on the creation of the monument together with his son Daniil:
They worked for almost a year, this is a joint Russian-French project. The French side was engaged in landscaping, and the Russian side, of course, made the entire monument. The large pedestal was made of stone in Karelia. All this was cast in bronze in the city of Smolensk, there is a foundry.

Of those monuments that you know here, this is the monument to the pilots of the Normandie-Niemen regiment in Le Bourget. Now, just, an air show, and you can see it. And a monument to partisans-maquisars at the Pere Lachaise cemetery, and in the city of Noyes-Saint-Martin, a monument also to our partisans.

Interestingly, in the city of Salsk, Surovtsev created a monument to Sergei Leonidovich Markov, general of the Russian Imperial Army, one of the most prominent Russian military theorists.
SUROVTSEV: What makes me very happy is that we have finally stopped reading the history of our fatherland and our state from 1917. We are finally coming to a deep, I want to believe in this, historical understanding that our state is already more than two thousand years old in general. And the previous history before the 20th century is no less interesting and no less dramatic than the history of the present and modern. I am proud that I have already managed to make a series on this topic with my son, in my opinion. important projects. You must have heard a memorial sign at the site of the death of the cruiser “Varyag” in Scotland, then we created a monument and installed it, opened it in Plevna – to General Skobelev. The book is being prepared now. I think the photo from this monument will be included in this edition. But the monument you spoke about, we made many years ago.

Full length interview of sculptor Vladimir Surovtsev to Armen Gasparyan, host of the Voice of Russia radio station, here:

It is sad that some scoundrels desecrated the monument. Disgusting barbarism. To the credit of the French side, they managed to restore the original appearance of the monument. I hope they manage to find the bastards.

The monument to the soldiers of the Russian Expeditionary Corps, erected on the Seine embankment in the center of the French capital, has regained its former appearance thanks to the efforts of Parisian restorers. This was reported today to the correspondent. ITAR-TASS at the Russian Embassy in France.

The monument was vandalized on Thursday night by unknown hooligans who painted it in protest against the imprisonment of members of the Russian punk band Pussy Riot.
“The Embassy immediately sent a note of protest to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs with an expression of indignation. In fact, this act was directed against our common historical memory of those who fought for our countries, – said the representative of the Russian diplomatic mission Sergei Parinov. – We hope that an investigation will be carried out, the perpetrators will be identified and punished.”

As the agency’s interlocutor noted, protest notes were also sent to the capital’s mayor’s office and the city’s police prefecture.0007

Now the monument has already been restored to its original form. The hooligans covered almost the entire sculptural composition with paint, and they used special car nitro enamels, which complicated the work of cleaning it. “It required the involvement of specialists , – explained in the diplomatic mission. – It was necessary to remove the paint and at the same time not damage the patina on the bronze.”

The monument to the soldiers of the Russian Expeditionary Corps was opened in Paris in the summer of 2011. It is installed in the historical quarter of the capital on the right bank of the Seine, not far from the Grand Palais exhibition palace and the Pont Alexandre III, during whose reign the Russian-French alliance was concluded.

The first issue of the magazine “Way” was published

the defense of “modernism” is the defense of life,
movement, creativity, freedom, thought. I
I would like “The Way” to be in this sense

that it is not “modern” enough.

For tactical reasons, the organizers
decided that for the release of the magazine will be

at the Paris Institute of St. Sergius, and

The magazine bit by bit collected all the best,
what happened in the intellectual
life of the Russian Diaspora. Berdyaev
constantly emphasized that emigration
should solve an important constructive
the task is to preserve the cultural heritage
for future generations of Russia.

“Ways” had to fight for freedom
religious, philosophical, social
thoughts, for the freedom of creativity. And need
to think that the magazine succeeded in something in
in this respect to do. He got out and
above the usual political passions
emigration.

A key theme for many
years for foreign Russian press
there was a Bolshevik revolution. She
immediately revealed a terrible split between
upper cultural layer and folk
masses. The people have moved from naive faith,
in which have not yet been fully overcome
pagan superstitions, to the naive
materialistic and communist
faith. The Way wrote that a revolution is impossible
to deny, it is senseless to ignore,
despite the suffering she
brought to the people and especially
intelligentsia. There was no way back, and this
circumstance determined the special role
emigration.

The authors of The Way, for the most part,
advocated a genuine humanistic
socialism, philosophical justification
which was not built on a simplified
materialistic positivism
radical intelligentsia of the 19th century, and on
recognition of the spiritual and religious
potential of a harmoniously developed
personality. Socialism rooted in
in popular justice and
religious values of Orthodoxy,
associated with them was the goal towards which
the majority of the speakers strove to
pages of the Way.

N.A.
Berdyaev
repeatedly repeated,
that the pages of his journal are open to
everyone, including Catholics and Protestants,
atheists and “Christian socialists”.
According to him, “the only exceptions were
representatives of clearly obscurantist,
directions hostile to thought and creativity,
who have sympathy behind them
part of the emigrant mass. The report on
activities of the RFA, uttered in
Chantilly April 30, 1933, N.A.
Berdyaev
stated that
“The Way” “unites all literary
and scientific Christian emigration forces
with the exception of the obscurantist extremely
right wing hostile to
to any thought at all”

“The Way” has also become one of the sources
pro-communist propaganda
because N. A.
Berdyaev
believed that “the dream
about the onset of community, i.e. communism
in the religious sense of the word,
mankind’s greatest dream.”
Subsequently, he admitted: “I think
the Soviet government is the only
Russian national government…
This does not mean that I am completely
support.”

The magazine was famous for its book reviews.
In total, The Way reviewed about 160
foreign publications, and 75 Russian. Here
easily traced educational
the purpose of the journal. His
reviews and reviews allow you to make sure
in the ecumenical passions of The Way,
as well as in high intellectual
level of the reader to whom he was
addressed.

The concept of the magazine “Way” found a hot
the response of the intellectual part of the emigration.
He managed to unite progressive
forces that wanted to fight for the spiritual
culture in an atmosphere of growing
Doukhobors. In the course of the struggle began
a new epoch in the emergence of Russian philosophical
thoughts on the European and world arena.

La terra vista dalla luna — Tiromancino

La terra vista dalla luna

Earth as seen from the moon

La terra vista dalla luna
somiglia un sasso illuminato
Incredibile azzurro

Earth from the moon
Looks like a luminous stone
Incredibly azure,
Like no star in its perfection

Earth from the moon
Girded with white clouds
And seas of cobalt, one among the planets,
Like an enamel pearl

But the stars never go out from the earth,
The pressure is no longer felt
You will float in the void
But down here, the nights never end
The clock gets confused and you
You don’t know what day it is
You don’t know what day it is

The earth seen from the moon
The past loosens its shoulders
Smiling
And does not know what to do with all doubts

But the stars never go out from the earth,
The pressure is no longer felt
You will soar in the void

The clock is confused, and you
Don’t know what day it is

The Best Back to School Activities for Second Grade

I am SO excited to share the best back to school activities for second grade with you today! You and your second graders will love them!

This set of thirteen Back to School and First Day Activities for Second Grade will save you time as you prep for the first week of school. Additionally, it will engage your second graders in meaningful and fun activities. The beginning of the year is a special time for second graders, as they transition into the school environment and adjust to new friends and rules. There are lots of changes and lots of things to be excited about!

These are the best back to school activities to complete the first few weeks of school as you welcome in your new second graders. They will help them accommodate to their new role and schedule, and create new friendships with their classmates. Hopefully, these activities will help make the transition to second grade fun and engaging!

Why teachers and students LOVE these activities

💖 Teachers love how engaging and simple these activities are to prep. They also help teachers get to know their students and build classroom community. There’s so much going on at the start of a new school year. This resource will help relieve the burden of finding things to do.

💖 Students love these activities because they help them share about themselves, get to know their classmates, and have fun the first week of school. They also help ease them into the routine and structure of a new classroom.

13 of the Best Back to School Activities for Second Grade

Jitter Juice is a tried-and-true class favorite that my students continued to talk about and reference as one of their best memories from the school year. This is an original poem that I wrote to help ease the first day jitters, all while reading along and enjoying a yummy cup of Jitter Juice (recipe included)! Your students are guaranteed to LOVE this activity.

The Second Grade Survey will help you students share about themselves with you and their classmates. Find out how they’re feeling about starting second grade, what they’re good at, and what they’re excited to learn in your classroom. The self-portrait is always fun to draw and look back on at the end of the year, too!

Grab the included templates and some sentences strips to create the cutest back to school paper crowns around. There are four different designs to choose from.

After a second grade-themed back to school read-aloud of your choice, find out how your students spent The Night Before Second Grade. Students will briefly draw and describe what they did before the big first day of school!

Follow up any of the get-to-know you activities with paper friendship bracelets. Give each student a page of bracelets to color and cut. Then, they can exchange them with their friends and promote conversations at home!

What’s in a second grader’s backpack? is a simple writing craft. Students write down things that a second grader needs to be successful. Then, create the backpack and place the writing paper within the pocket. This would make a super cute hallway display!

Collaborative Activities

Partner students together to color, cut, and create these super fun friendship puzzles! There are three puzzle designs to choose from. Students work in pairs to share and assemble their puzzles. It’s a great way to support cooperation!

Looking for an easy Ice Breaker? Find-a-friend is the perfect way to encourage your students to get to know one another. The prompts are easy (i.e. “Find a friend who lost a tooth!”) and they get to collect signatures as they move around the room finding new friends!

Create a Class Book that shares all the new faces in your classroom! Students will draw a self-portrait and you’ll combine each one into a class book. Then, you can read and share it with your new class so they can get to know one another better. This will make an excellent addition to your reading center – the kids love to look at the drawings they made!

The following activities will pair perfectly with any books that you have about second grade or going back to school!

  • Activity #1: Complete a whole group tree map about second graders
  • Activity #2: Discuss the similarities and differences between first and second graders. Complete a whole group double bubble map and then have students complete the individual double bubble map
  • Activity #3: Journal activity using the included sentence starter

Create a My First Week of Second Grade Book (2 versions included) to share all the fun from the first week of second grade!

Free back to school activity

Fill out the form at the bottom of this post to grab the FREE writing paper pictured below! It’s a great prompt to use at the end of the first week of school. (This example says kindergarten, but there are prompts for K-2 included!)

Looking for more back to school activities?

I hope you find that these are the best back to school activities for second grade, too! They are all available for purchase here. You can also check out these posts for more activities to use as you prepare for the first day of school!

AbbyMullins

Abby is a former kindergarten and first grade teacher who channels her passion for education into creating engaging activities and resources for the kindergarten and first grade classroom. When not dreaming up or working on her next project, you’ll find her enjoying her family – most likely in her minivan on the way to a soccer field.

Classroom Games for 2nd Grade

LESLIE ROSE
CLASS

There are a number of games that can be played with second graders that are both educational and community-building. These games are great for a rainy day and for a fun lesson. They are best played with classes of 10 to 20 kids.

1 Monster Game

The students are instructed to draw a monster on a piece of paper. On a separate sheet of paper, the students are instructed to describe the monster they have just drawn. When this is finished, all students pair up. The students are instructed to take turns reading the descriptions of the monster, while the partners draw the descriptions as they are read. When this is finished and all students have read their descriptions, the drawings of monsters are compared to the originals.

2 Circle Skip Counting

The teacher instructs the students to stand in a circle. The teacher chooses a number to count by (twos, threes, fours, etc), and picks a starter player. Beginning with the starter player and moving around the circle, each student says the next number in the sequence. Any student that says an incorrect number sits out until all students have been eliminated and a winner is declared.

3 Community Ball Toss

The teacher instructs students to stand in a circle. The teacher throws the ball (if indoors, use a squishy, non-bouncy ball) to a starter student, then the students are instructed to put their hands behind their back once they have had the ball, and the ball is tossed around until all students have had the ball just one time. The last student to receive the ball sends the ball back to the teacher. Next, the teacher sends the ball back to the same starter student, and the ball is tossed in the same sequence it was thrown in previously. The sequence is repeated once or twice, and then gradually the teacher begins to throw more balls into the circle, again following the same sequence, until there are five or six balls being thrown in the circle, at different points in the sequence.

4 Guess My Number

The teacher puts up a number line and says, “I am thinking of a number between…[insert two numbers]”. For example, the teacher thinks of the number 18. The teacher says, “I am thinking of a number between 5 and 33.” The teacher shows this on the number line with a sticky-note placed on 5 and a sticky note placed on 33. One student guesses a number–for example, 24. This is not the correct number, so the teacher moves the outer sticky note from the number 33 to the number 24, and says, “I am thinking of a number between 5 and 24”. This continues until the number has been guessed.

5 Sight-Word Bingo

This game is played just like ordinary Bingo, but the numbers have been replaced with sight-words. Each student is given a laminated card with a grid of sight-words on it (the center square is the “FREE SPACE”). The teacher draws the sight words from a hat, and the students mark the words on their laminated cards (with bingo chips or dry-erase markers) as the words are called. The first student who gets a line of marked words down his Bingo card shouts out “Bingo!” and wins the round.

If we talk about the daily online activities of children, we will get the following figures: 22.5% spend less than an hour, 35.6% about 1-2 hours, 26. 9% about 3-4 hours and 15.1 % – more than 4 hours a day.

It is difficult to draw conclusions from these statistics because they do not show exactly what young users are doing. But the following data will balance the report and are guaranteed to surprise twice

– 12% of children start using different gadgets at an extremely early age (at 1-2 years).

The age of the average user is actively decreasing. Every year he gets younger and younger, demonstrating that today children can use smartphones before they start talking and walking.

At this pace of device development, 65% of young users already own their own phone by the age of 13 (as of July 2019). This figure will increase even more in the coming years.

– 57% of children use their mobile phones for games and entertainment applications.

This huge figure shows that due to their age and interests, children tend to waste time. After playing games, young users have the following priorities for using the Internet: watching videos, taking photos and videos, chatting with family and friends, listening to music, using social networks and doing homework.

Unfortunately, education is at the bottom of the list of children’s priorities. According to the same study, only 18% of children learn and do their homework through the use of smartphones and tablets.

– 40% of parents admit that they allow their child to use gadgets only to be alone for a while.

One of the saddest aspects of the study. Yes, 68% of parents say they see mobile device use as a positive impact on their child’s development. But to be honest, many of them get tired or do not want to work with children, so they shift this responsibility to the Internet and mobile gadgets.

Therefore, the cost of parents for a smartphone for a child can also surprise. A quarter of Americans spend up to $250 on a new device, and 4% are willing to spend $850 or more. Such data indicates an increase in the availability of mobile devices, which also has a positive effect on the mobile advertising market.

How marketers nurture young target audience

Marketers and advertisers know how to identify the interests of the younger generation as accurately as they can identify adult market participants. They work with them in such a way that the brand’s image and features can grow with their consumer. To nurture a young audience, they use a multi-stage system of influence:

Stage 1. Parents + own observations

Children go to supermarkets and shops together with mom and dad, who lay down basic behavior patterns. In salesrooms and on television, they see a variety of products, and how parents interact with these products. Before the child learns to make his own decisions, he will observe the behavior of his parents.

Step 2 Parents + Expression of Interest

Children start asking mom and dad about the goods and services they see. They are attracted by colorful ads, captivating content, funny slogans and product descriptions. This is how primary interest is formed.

Stage 3. Parents + purchase of their choice with permission

After forming their own preferences and with the permission of their parents, they make their first purchases. At this stage, children already know how to distinguish between brands and choose their favorite ones.

Stage 4. Parents + attempts to make independent decisions

Past experience (own and parental), as well as a little pocket money, opens the child to the world of shopping. Now he can be active almost on the same level as adult buyers. The influence of advertising is further enhanced.

Stage 4. independent shopping

At each stage, the influence of adults remains enormous, but its character changes: gradually the child is listened to. And only at the last stage does he become a full-fledged buyer who is able to manage personal funds.

Thus, children’s marketing involves the use of almost any form of content marketing. You can use banner ads, useful texts, social networks, and so on.

Children’s Marketing and Social Responsibility

Today, the question often arises of how children are able to understand the impact of advertising on themselves and isolate themselves from manipulation. Experts assure that the child does not distinguish between a selling text and an informational one, therefore it is very easy to be influenced (both positive and negative). For marketers, this is a plus, but not for worried parents.

Speaking of young consumers, we cannot rely entirely on the principles of modern marketing. Agree, each of our actions has a significant impact on the formation of children’s horizons and perception of the world as a whole. Moreover, online and offline advertising can directly or indirectly influence the education of an entire generation, and often not in a positive way.

Those who only yesterday learned to read and write today use the advantages and disadvantages of the Internet with might and main. Thus, the idea of the social responsibility of business prevails. After all, information on the network and numerous brands cannot pursue only selfish goals.

Personalization and focus on the interests of the client taught businesses to be more loyal, to strive to help the buyer and provide him with the necessary content.

18 Small-Scale Daycares & Preschools in Missouri City, TX

Your family is unique to you, but some of your questions might not be. 😉 Here’s what most parents want to know when starting out.

What is NeighborSchools?

Hey there, nice to meet you 👋 We’re a new-ish startup that helps new-ish parents find daycare.

We know how hard finding good child care can be – especially for first-time parents. But really good care is what gives you the peace of mind to go back to work and feel confident that your child is getting the stimulation, socialization, and support they need to learn and grow.

So we created NeighborSchools to make this piece of parenthood a whole lot easier. We say “easier” because, let’s be honest, it’s still a big thing to figure out, but working together we can help you find some good options, understand the whole process, and choose a program you’ll feel really good about.

How’s it work?

Most first-time parents don’t know exactly what they’re looking for, so we created a simple survey that will ask you questions about your lifestyle, your daily routines, and your preferences for child care. We’ll then share 3 personalized recommendations that we think might be a good fit. We’ll also give you a timeline that maps out when we would suggest you start touring programs, choose a daycare, and pay a deposit to secure a spot. Your timeline is based on when you want to start care – so you set the pace, and you decide when you’ve found the right match.

Is there a cost?

Nope. Our daycare recommendation service is free for parents. The other half of our business is helping these small-scale daycares with software and services that handle all their administrative tasks, like online contracting, payment processing, and licensing requirements. Before NeighborSchools, services like these were only designed for large corporate child care centers, and part of our mission is to level the playing field for small, independent child care programs. That’s why we picked the name NeighborSchools – we’re all about making child care more personal, more human, and more equitable for the incredible individuals who do this work and care for our children.

How do I know if I’m ready to take the survey?

Generally, if you’re here, you’re ready. The survey lets us give you 3 recommendations to consider, but it’ll also help you better understand what factors to consider, and what questions to be asking right now. It’s simple things like where you live, your child’s date of birth, when you want to start care, and if you have any preferences around program philosophy or language of instruction. If you’re planning 6+ months ahead, it’s a great way to get started, and if you’re hoping to start daycare in the next 2-4 months, it’s definitely time to get started. Click here to start the survey.

How do I know if a daycare has openings?

Each program has a limited number of spots for each age range, so we need to know your schedule and child’s age before we can share availability. The survey covers these basics, as well as factors like drop-off and pick-up times to make sure that recommended programs fit your daily routine. Once we know your child’s age and schedule we can share rates and costs as well.

More questions? Text or email – we’re here to help.

We’re online Monday – Friday from 8am to 6pm Eastern.

When can you enroll your child in preschool: Preschool Programs for Ages 3

When Should your Child Start Preschool?

It is
important to consider many factors when you start to think about your child
starting preschool. Every child will develop at a slightly different rate, so
there isn’t a set age at which a child should start preschool. If you are
considering having your child start preschool, here are some things that you
need to keep in mind in order to make the best decision for you and your child.
If you have already decided to enroll your child in preschool, check out our post on tips to simplify the first day of
preschool. Thorough preparation and research can go a long way toward easing
your related processes.

When Should your Child Start Preschool?

Most
children begin preschool around the age
of 3 or 4. However, age isn’t the determining factor as to when your child
should start preschool. It depends more on the state of development that your
child has reached and the skills that they have obtained. Every child is unique
and different, so it is important to keep all of these considerations in mind
to ensure that your child is ready for preschool. These are just a few things
that you will need to consider before enrolling your child in preschool.

Separation Issues

Consider
whether your child has ever spent significant amounts of time away from you. If
they haven’t, they may experience some level of separation anxiety when they are introduced to
preschool. This can be difficult for both the child and the parent. Consider
how well your child does without you, as well as how easily they adjust to
changes, before enrolling them in preschool. In addition, sometimes children
that have previously been in a daycare environment have an easier time adjusting to
preschool. This is mainly due to the fact that they have spent time away from
their parents. You should also keep in mind that preschool may help to ease the
transition to kindergarten, so it may be a particularly useful step to take
when you’re child nears the kindergarten age.

Potty Trained

Most
preschools require your child to be potty trained before they can be enrolled.
This doesn’t mean that they can never have an accident, but they should
generally be potty trained before they begin to regularly attend preschool. If
your child isn’t yet potty trained, they probably aren’t quite ready to join a
preschool yet. Every child will become potty trained at a different age, which
is another reason that there is no specific age at which every child will be
ready to attend preschool.

Communication Skills

No one
expects a toddler to be able to communicate particularly well or efficiently.
Although you have likely become fluent in their unique communication
techniques, the preschool teacher probably won’t be. It is important for a
child to have somewhat developed communication skills prior to beginning
preschool. This is important, because if they aren’t able to communicate, they
will likely experience substantial feelings of frustration. Other children may
become frustrated, as well. This will also ensure that they are able to inform
an adult whenever they are having an issue, or something is wrong.

Their Nap Routine

Most
preschools will have some level of nap time or period for children to rest
throughout the day. However, these rest periods are often limited to the daily
schedule. If your child regularly naps for 2 hours or longer, they likely need
more rest than they will get during a preschool day. Don’t enroll your child in
preschool until their naps average around an hour or less, to ensure that they
can effectively make it through the day.

Getting Along with Others

Preschool
certainly provides ample opportunities for children to improve their
cooperation and communication skills. In addition, every child is likely to have
a conflict with another at some point, especially when it comes to sharing toys
or working in cooperation. However, it is important that they are able to
somewhat get along with other children before they begin to attend preschool.
This often goes hand in hand with communication, as the ability to communicate
will allow them to understand and speak with other children. Ensure that your
child plays well with others before you introduce them to preschool.

Listening Skills

Children
generally have short attention spans. This can make it difficult to persuade
them to follow all of your directions. However, it is important that children
in preschool have the ability to listen to instructions and follow simple
directions. This will ensure the most effective learning process, as well as
prevent many issues from occurring.

Consult with Pediatrician

You may want
to consider discussing your upcoming decision with your child’s pediatrician.
This will ensure that you are aware of any medical issues that may cause issues
for your child in preschool. A pediatrician will also be able to inform you
regarding your child’s current level of development in order to make the best
decision for your child.

The Benefits of Preschool

There are
many benefits to your child attending preschool. It helps to provide effective preparation for kindergarten, which can help ease the transition
to attending school. In addition, preschool provides a regular structure for
your child. Many experts agree on the importance of a regular routine for
children. There is a substantial amount of social interaction in preschool, so
attending preschool can go a long way toward improving your child’s social
skills. Preschool also helps to teach independence and encourage your child to
begin accomplishing tasks on their own. Most preschools also encourage physical
activity, which can go a long way toward improving the health of your
child.

When Should I Enroll My Child In Preschool?

You may think that kindergarten is the start of your child’s schooling, but it actually starts even earlier for most. For a lot of children, education starts in preschool or pre-kindergarten and it’s shown to have great advantages for your child’s development. Not only does it benefit your child academically, but it also helps them develop cognitive, social, and emotional skills which are extremely useful in life and in school. It helps your child become more independent, and can help them develop confidence and self-worth.

The advantages of preschool are endless, but deciding when your child is ready for preschool can be difficult to determine. There are many considerations to make, but here are our suggestions for when you should enroll your child in preschool.

What age should my child start preschool?

There are many things to consider when it comes to enrolling your child into preschool, but the biggest factor for most is age. Most preschool programs begin at age 3 and typically extend until the child is ready for kindergarten around age 5. Some preschools take children even earlier at the age of 2, but the curriculum and activities will differ somewhat from the older children. While most children begin preschools between the ages of 3 and 4, your child has the opportunity to start their education even earlier at the Little Bear and University preschools.

However, because children all develop at a different rate you should consider your child’s specific needs. Preschool is designed to help children grow and learn not only academically, but in many aspects of their early lives. If you’re struggling with any of the following questions, just know that preschool can help:

  • Is your child potty trained?
  • How will your child react to being separated from you?
  • Is your child comfortable playing with other children?
  • How well does your child communicate with and listen to others?

How will preschool help prepare my child for kindergarten?

Along with learning valuable math and literacy skills, preschool also helps prepare your child socially and cognitively. They’ll get to experience structure, independence, and expression in a way that they can’t at home. Preschool also helps children develop stronger communication skills and helps them learn how to respond to certain situations. So while your child will take away a tremendous amount of academic skills and knowledge, they’ll also be learning valuable life skills that will help them navigate their way through kindergarten and beyond.

What will my child learn in preschool?

Your child will learn a variety of skills and information in preschool mostly through group and individual activities which are planned by teachers and administrators. By engaging the children in fun and exciting activities, we’re able to show children just how much fun learning is. Children are extremely motivated to learn in the right environment and we strive to create that with hands-on exercises and other guided activities. Preschool will teach your child:

  • Language and cognitive skills
  • Social and emotional development
  • Self-confidence
  • Structure and school readiness
  • Academics related to reading, writing, science, and math!

Do kids have to go to preschool?

The short answer to this question is no, kids aren’t required by law to go to preschool and it isn’t mandatory for transferring into kindergarten. However, children who do attend preschool prove to be more prepared for kindergarten and often perform better in class because of this. Preschool is designed to ease your children into a daily routine, help them develop cognitive and social skills, and introduces them to the subjects they’ll be learning throughout their education. Preschool is where your child will learn their ABC’s and 123’s, make their first friends, and basically get a glimpse of all that life has to offer. So, while it isn’t required, preschool is highly recommended and encouraged by parents and teachers.

Electronic Kindergarten – an information system that will help enroll a child in a preschool

Society

Natalia Buzunova,
April 22, 2023 – 13:32

Modern parents are trying to send their child to kindergarten as early as possible. But often getting there is not so easy. Today it is possible to join the electronic queue, which is also convenient because it allows parents to choose the most suitable option for themselves.

– Scheduled recruitment of kindergartens in our district is carried out from June 1 to August 31 annually through the automated information system “Electronic Kindergarten”, – the head of the education department Razilya Yakovleva begins the conversation. – In order to regulate the work of users and minimize corruption risks, the staffing of kindergartens is carried out in accordance with the technical regulations.

When children are assigned to kindergartens, the system sorts the list of applications for enrollment by application category (“preferential” or on a general basis), and then they are automatically ranked by priority. The queue is based on the application date and benefit category.

If there is a vacancy in a kindergarten in a given age group, the system selects applications that have been submitted to that kindergarten and to the same age group. The calculation of the age of the child is on September 1. Then, according to this algorithm, there is a sequential distribution of places in the specified kindergarten in a given age category for vacant places.

Advertising

From 2022, the queue for a specific kindergarten is not displayed. The queue for our municipal district can be seen subject to the desired date of enrollment, which is indicated in the application. At the same time, a prerequisite is a subscription to informing about previously submitted applications. To do this, at the State Services of the Russian Federation, you must use the “Subscribe to inform on applications” service in the “Enrollment in a preschool organization” section.

You can check the status of consideration of an application for a kindergarten at the State Services of the Russian Federation, as well as through the district department of education. The specified electronic service on gosuslugi.ru is available regardless of the method of application (electronic or in person through the department of education).
