After 3 months of attendance, children are allowed a certain number of sick and/or vacation days. After the allotted number of days has been used there is a fee for missed days. See full details here. We are usually open even if public schools are closed.

Please call our facility and let us know if you will be late to pick up your child. There is a $10 fee for every 15 minutes after 6pm. If your child is absent please call and let us know they will not be attending on that day.

Bethany has a recorded security camera system and an electronic door entry system that requires the use of a passcard for entry. An audio speaker and door buzz also allow our staff to better control access to the facility and check identification as needed.

All staff have been screened according to Michigan Licensing regulations. Fingerprinting and FBI background checks are completed.

Weekly lesson plans, themes and academic goals are used throughout the year. Contact us if you’d like to view a sample lesson plan.

We have not found a large amount of discipline problems to be present over the years. If necessary, we stress positive forms of discipline which usually means a child must sit out of a particular activity and have a “time-out” for a period of time. Recurring problems will be discussed with parents.

Toys, materials and high touch surfaces are sanitized daily and as needed throughout the day.

Some people get family and friends to help out, while others hire a nanny. Adult nannies are a good option because they ensure that your child receives personal attention and quality child care. So you want to switch day care providers for your kids but you don’t know where to start or what to choose among the plethora of options out there in this world. It is fittingly one of the most important decisions of a young parent’s journey due to the fact that a child’s first formative years up until the age of six is critical. It is important for parents to not just consider the monetary impact of these choices but also the emotional, intellectual, and social future impacts the choice of a day care provider will have on their kids in the long term future. So let’s discuss some general tips to consider for the parent and the child to consider when one is looking to switch day care providers within a short time frame.

First, you must consider the cost of attending some of the more prestigious and rigorous day care provider centers in your area. In some areas, let’s face the reality that the more money per month per child spent; the better the facilities and the educational value experience offered for your child. Things such as using smart boards and I Pad’s to enhance the learning experience is a very real possibility in these places. However, if a parent is budget conscious they can still afford this experience but it would mean cutting back on all or most non-necessity spending. This would include curbing your eating out habits as well as any leisure entertainment or travel activity and place that money instead into your child’s future day care home. If an expensive day care sees that you are making an effort to keep up with the payments; then they will be more willing to work with you and not let your child leave that place. For a child going to this environment, they need to consider whether or not they will fit into this environment, things like playtime, feeding time, and individual care of the staff- is it received well by the child? These will make the difference between choosing these ones or a cheaper alternative. Cheaper is not all bad if the quality and availability of care is there for your child in the first place.

Secondly, you need to consider your travel times and distance of day care relative to your work and other important places like the hospital, grocery store, bank, and places that you frequent on a daily basis. Is it near enough that you can get to your child should he/she become ill or need special attention so that the day care center can contact you and arrange a meeting with you the same day if needed.

Furthermore, you need to consider the overall cleanliness and friendliness of the day care center provider. Do not underestimate a clean environment for your kid to play and learn in with other kids. Your kid will enjoy making new friends in a clean and safe environment. Plus you as a parent will enjoy the peace of mind of knowing that your child will not be being home any unwanted germs and diseases into your house. Parents must also consider if there is a dispute over payment and care; how does the management and staff deal with such requests? If there is a lackadaisical approach to your core issues; then that is a bad prelude of things to come concerning your child’s care. Your child will probably feel like he/she is being neglected or not fed on time and will start to complain to you ever so slightly that something is not right. When they do, do not hesitate to take them out of that day care center and find another one immediately.

In a recessionary economy, it is okay and permissible for both parents and kids to demand the best care for their dollar. Make your day care dollar stretch by reading all of the material and brochures and visiting every day center on your list until you find that perfect fit for your child. It’s out there; it is just waiting on you to find it!

Child Care Options for Low Income Families

One of the most frustrating aspects of being a working citizen is not having the ability to afford childcare. The majority of day care facilities charge as much as $300 per week for each child. That amount is difficult for middle-class citizens to pay. Low-income families cannot fathom paying such an expense. Luckily, the government and the various states have developed programs that help low-income families get the childcare they deserve. The following is some information on those programs:

Extended Day Program

The extended day program can assist low-income working parents during the regular school year. Many school districts offer this program. The school keeps children before and after school hours for a small monthly fee. A parent can drop a child off as early as 7:00 a.m. and pick the child up as late as 6:00 p.m. This program is excellent for low-income workers with daytime weekday jobs. The cost is approximately $150 per month for before and after school. The weekly rate is approximately $37.50, which is extremely competitive.

The attendants participate in various activities with the children before and after school. They help the children with their homework so that the parents have less stress when they come home from work. They give the children a full breakfast in the morning program and a snack in the evening program. Parents can opt to pay for the morning program only, the evening program only, or both programs. The evening program is the more expensive of the two because it lasts so many hours after the school releases the children. The evening program is $100 while the morning program is $52.

The Child Care Assistance Program

CCAP is a special program that provides childcare assistance to certain low-income families. People who are collecting TANF are automatically eligible to receive this assistance. Teenage parents who are working on obtaining their educations are also eligible for CCAP. Those who are not collecting TANF can still qualify if they are pursuing education that will improve their work skills and job opportunities. Parents can apply for CCAP assistance with the Department of Children & Family Services. The financial guidelines for qualification are along the lines of a $3,000 per month income threshold for a four-person family. The applicant must have proof of income, social security cards, birth certificates, and immunization records for all children. Application processing can take up to 30 days.

Head Start

Head start is a program for children between the ages of three and five. The program provides childcare services and medical services to the children who qualify. It is funded by the Administration of Children’s Services. The Head Start program covers childcare from 7 a. m. to 5 p.m. Teachers work with the children to fine-tune their social and developmental skills. Those who are interested in the program may apply online. Applicants go on a waitlist until there is an available slot in the program. It is best for an interested person to complete an application as quickly as possible since the wait may be extended.

Child Care Voucher Program

The Child Care Voucher Program is in effect in many states throughout the United States. It provides a subsidy of up to 95 percent of childcare cost to low-income families. Subsidy recipients will choose an eligible provider from the list of licensed providers. They may also select a relative or an in-home provider. The Child Care Voucher Program covers the childcare from 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Monday through Friday. This is known as the traditional childcare period. However, the program also covers non-traditional times for parents who work odd shifts. It covers nights, weekends, and evenings.

A wide variety of options is available for low-income childcare. Many stay-at-home moms also run small day care businesses in which they discount their services. There is a way to make working and taking care of your children affordable.

Full cycle coffee business from plantation to cup

Viji Siddharta grew up on a family plantation of more than 160 hectares and first studied at home and then at a small boarding school in the remote rural area of ​​Chikmagalur. Later, while studying economics at the Jesuit College of St. Aloysius in Bangalore, he flirted with left-wing politicians. “I thought I should be Robin Hood, robbing the rich and giving everything to the poor,” laughs Siddhartha. “But then I realized that there is no money in this country. The young entrepreneur also invested in coffee plantations and in 1985 purchased his first estate. Today, he owns almost 4250 hectares and is the second largest coffee producer in India after Tata Group.

At that time the coffee trade was monopolized by the state Coffee Board. But in 1990, economic reform began, and Siddhartha sponsored a trip to New Delhi by a group of coffee growers to persuade Manmohan Singh, the current prime minister and then finance minister, to end the monopoly. “The monopoly was a big white elephant, not protecting the interests of the producers,” he says.

Within a few months, advertising and coffee exports were opened up to the private sector. Siddhartha organized the Amalgamated Bean Coffee Trading Company (ABC) to export coffee beans from his own and other growers’ plantations, but this was not his main job.

By 1995, ABC had become India’s largest exporter of raw coffee. Then, inspired by a conversation with a member of the Hertz family, who owns the German coffee brand Tchibo, and the autobiography of Howard Schultz, the founder of Starbucks, Siddhartha decided to create his own brand of coffee and add value to his beans: “I thought: branding will give me four times more money than sales in the wholesale market.

ABC opened 10 small Coffee Day Fresh and Ground shops selling homemade coffee. However, Siddhartha’s idea to open a cafe on Bangalore’s busy shopping street was rebuffed by the management team. “The MBA guys told me it wouldn’t work,” he recalls. – I wanted to sell coffee for 25 rupees per cup, but 30 meters away it was sold for 5 rupees. They told me, “Don’t waste your money.”

But Siddhartha insisted on using the internet as bait, even though it took him a week to convince bureaucrats in New Delhi to put the internet into a coffee shop. “In India, ordinary citizens didn’t have access to the internet back then,” he says. “We were among the first.” Coffee Day Cyber ​​Cafe opened in 1996, and by 2001 there were already 20 cafes of this chain in southern India. Competitors can’t keep up

Now Siddhartha is focusing on coffee shops. He rebranded them to Cafe Coffee Day, raised $12 million in 2001 from GTV, which he then sold, and $20 million in 2004 from Sequoia Capital, a private equity firm, and began to expand rapidly. Today, Cafe Coffee Day is refurbishing the interiors and menus of coffee shops to be ready for what Siddhartha sees as Starbucks’ upcoming Indian market launch.

12 Month / 1 Year Old Toddler Sleep & Feeding Schedule

This article outlines the average 12-month-old / 1-year-old toddler schedule, including feedings, solids, naps, and night sleep.

1 year old sleep / 12 month old’s sleep

At this age, almost all 12 month olds can sleep through the night, without a feeding, and take two naps for a total of 2 to 2 1/2 hours per day plus 10-12 hours at night. A small percentage of 1-year-olds transition to one nap this early, but since the average is 15-18 months old, we recommend you stick to 2 naps unless your toddler is resisting one of their naps at least 4 times a week. My eldest son, who inspired babysleepsite.com did seem to transition to one nap one week before his first birthday, but I later found out I should have kept two naps.

Many toddlers this age get very overtired and sleep can spiral out of control when we transition to one nap too soon, so I typically recommend keeping two naps as long as possible. My younger son seemed to start to transition to one nap around the same time just like his older brother, but since I knew better the second time around, he went back to two naps within a week or two and continued taking two naps until 15 or 16 months. If your 1-year-old is in daycare, he or she may be required to move to one nap a day in the toddler room. We work with many families in this situation and most toddlers will do just fine after a 2-3-week transition, however, others will struggle a lot with it this young.

Your 1-year-old should be taking 2 naps per day for a total of 2-3 hours per day plus 10-12 hours at night. Wake windows at this age are usually 3-4 hours throughout the day. If you’re having trouble with naps, you might be interested in helping your baby nap and reading the 5 signs to see before switching to one nap.

Although many babies or toddlers can go all night without a single feeding, in my experience, some families choose to keep one feeding after 4 or 5 a.m. and sleep later than not feed and get an early wake-up-time. I would need to know your specific situation to make a recommendation, but just recognize that all babies are different. By this age, I would not expect more than one feeding, typically, if any at all. I would recommend at least an attempt at night-weaning because it can be a chicken and egg problem. It’s hard to encourage more eating during the day when he is eating at night and it’s hard to discourage eating at night when he isn’t eating more during the day.

All toddlers vary, but here are some approximate schedules you can use to make your own for your unique situation. I believe that milk or formula should be the primary nutrition for the first year and solids come secondary. But now that your toddler is over a year old, you may want to consider moving toward milk being a beverage with a meal rather than a separate event, if you haven’t already.

Below are the amounts of solid food we recommend. The amount of food at 12 months is very similar to 11 months. Your toddler may be eating more given he is likely running around a lot more and becoming more and more mobile.

Average Milk and Food Per Day for a 1 Year Old

Amounts per day:

At least 3 nursing sessions per day or 24-32 ounces formula or up to 16-20 oz of milk
6-8 oz of water
2 servings (1 serving = 1-2 Tablespoons dry) cereal
1-2 servings grain (1 serving = 1/2 slice bread, 2 crackers, 1/2 cup Cheerios, or 1/2 cup whole grain pasta)
2 servings fruit (1 serving = 3-4 Tablespoons)
2-3 servings vegetable (1 serving = 3-4 Tablespoons)
2-3 servings protein (1 serving = 1-2 Tablespoons)

The first schedule is what I call a “staggered” approach if you decide to keep milk separate from your meals:

7:30/8:00 – Milk and Bedtime (goal to be asleep at this time)

If you prefer to combine milk and meals together, here is another approach to your 1-year-old’s schedule:

More tips: When giving any feedings during your bedtime routine, be careful not to create sleep associations. We saw this become important at 4 months old. We see the worst sleep during the 8 month sleep regression when your baby is oftentimes sitting and standing up.

12 Month Old Sleep Schedule

Congratulations, you have a one year old! Celebrating a first birthday is such an exciting milestone. At 12 months old, your little one’s personality is shining, and they are keeping you on your toes. Let’s talk about some of the most common questions I get about 12 month old sleep schedules, regressions, naps, and more.  

What are the wake windows for a 12 month old baby?#anchor

Around 12 months old, wake windows are between 3-4 hours. Morning wake windows are generally on the shorter end of the range, and the last wake window of the day is towards the longer end of the range.

Here’s a general daily routine for your one year old:

  • About 3 hours after Wake Time = Nap 1

  • About 3-3.5 hours after the end of Nap 1 = Nap 2

  • About 3.5-4 hours after the end of Nap 2 = Bedtime

How many naps should a 12 month old be taking? Is 12 months old too early for one nap?#anchor

For a one year old, we are aiming for 2.5-3 hours of daytime sleep, divided between two naps. On a two nap schedule, the goal is to have each nap last at least one hour, but no longer than two hours. This allows for restorative sleep during the day, keeps bedtime between the sweet spot of 7:00-8:00 pm, and provides enough active awake time to be tired for naps and night sleep.

I often see babies this age suddenly fight naps or struggle to fall asleep, causing parents to wonder if it’s time to transition to one nap. In most of these cases, dropping a nap is not the solution. Instead, sudden changes in sleep are typically caused by illness, teething, new skills, or the 12 month sleep regression. 

When your baby is truly ready to make the 2 to 1 nap transition, you’ll see that they’re able to handle much longer wake windows. This is necessary in order to get that one restorative nap and have consolidated night sleep. Most 12 month olds are not yet able to handle these longer wake windows without being overtired at naptime and bedtime. Before deciding to make any changes to your baby’s routine, we want to make sure your baby is consistently showing signs that it’s time to drop a nap for at least one week, ideally two. Transitioning to one nap too early can lead to other sleep issues, like short naps, early morning wakings, or night wakings.  Making this nap transition when your baby is truly ready for it will make the process much smoother.  

A Note for Daycare Parents: Please hear me, I know you may not have control over when your baby transitions to one nap at daycare, or daycare naps in general. Be assured that your baby’s daycare provider can handle it! Even if your little one is on a one-nap schedule at daycare, it may help to maintain two naps on non-daycare days to prevent overtiredness. What is a sample sleep schedule for a 12 month old?  #anchor

I’d like to share some sample schedules with you. It’s important to remember these schedules are only samples of what a day could look like and may vary depending on when you start your day, how long your baby naps, and their individual wake window and feeding needs.

Here is an example of a 2 nap schedule for a 12 month old who has been weaned from breast or bottle feedings. Notice we are still offering food and drink about every 2.5-3.5 hours. Again, this is just one possible way a day could play out based on appropriate wake windows, nap lengths, and your baby’s caloric needs.

What time should my 12 month old wake up from their afternoon nap? #anchor

In order to maintain that sweet spot bedtime between 7:00-8:00 pm, your 12 month old should wake between 3:00-4:00 pm. This will allow them to have a 3.5-4 hour wake window from the end of the nap until bedtime. Having a full wake window before bed makes it easier for your baby to fall asleep and sleep through the night.

How much should a 1 year old eat?#anchor

After 12 months of age, solids become a little one’s primary source of nutrition. Please know it’s normal to see growth and weight gain slow after a child’s first birthday. If you feel like this transition is causing sleep disruptions, my blog on solids and baby sleep can help!

Please speak with your pediatrician about any concerns you have regarding how much your one year old is eating.

How much milk should a 12 month old drink?#anchor

According to the American Academy of Pediatrics, babies at this age should drink 16-24 ounces of whole milk per day. Keep in mind, the AAP does not recommend introducing whole milk until a baby is at least 12 months old. 

For some babies and families, cow’s milk is not the best option. If you have questions about milk alternatives and ensuring your baby gets the nutrition they need for healthy growth and development, please speak with your pediatrician.

How do we make the transition from breastmilk or formula to whole milk? How do we transition to whole milk for a 1 year old?#anchor

How exactly this transition works is a matter of preference (usually your baby’s preference). Some families find that a cold turkey approach works well, where they simply switch milk for formula or breastmilk. If a baby is willing to drink whole milk, this can work perfectly. Other babies prefer a more gradual approach. Here’s how that can work: Start by mixing one ounce of whole milk in with breastmilk or prepared formula. Every few days, gradually increase the amount of whole milk and decrease the amount of formula or breastmilk in each offering. You can go as fast or slow as your little one needs.

For nursing families, please know that if nursing continues to work for your family, there is no pressure to stop nursing and transition to whole milk just because your baby turned one.  

If your one year old will not drink whole milk, you have any questions or concerns about their intake, or you aren’t sure if milk or a milk alternative would be best for your baby, be sure to check with your pediatrician. 

When should my baby transition from a bottle to a sippy cup? How do I wean the bottle or transition from a bottle to a cup?#anchor

According to the AAP, children should be fully transitioned from a bottle to a cup between 12 and 24 months. Now is a great time to introduce a cup if you haven’t already. 

How you transition from a bottle to a cup depends on your baby and your comfort. Here are 2 options:

  1. Cold Turkey: Simply throw out your bottles and use a cup for all milk and water. For some, this is a perfect approach because it’s a clear transitional point. To your baby, bottles are just not an option any longer. “Bottles are all gone. You’re so big! You can use a cup.”

  2. Gradual Transition: Try switching from a bottle to a cup for one feeding. Instead of offering the bottle cuddled up on the couch, offer a cup of milk at the table with a snack or meal. Every few days, do this with one more bottle feeding. Don’t worry: this doesn’t mean cuddles are a thing of the past, but rather that cuddles aren’t connected with bottle feedings anymore. If you’re trying this gradual approach, it’s often best to start with midday feedings.

Expert Tip: When choosing a cup, you may need to experiment with different cup options to find what works best for your baby. Some babies love straw cups while others prefer open cups. Some may love the comfort of their already familiar “water cup” for milk, while others may do best with a brand new style of cup (like a straw cup instead of an open cup) for their milk. Keep in mind, it’s best to avoid cups with hard spouts.

How do I stop bottle feeding or breastfeeding my 12 month old at bedtime? How do I wean the bedtime bottle?#anchor

When you’re ready to drop your baby’s bedtime bottle or nursing session, you’ll want to start by shifting the timing of the bedtime feeding. Perhaps you offer it right before snuggling and turning out the lights. It might look like this:

Step 1: For the next few days, shift that bedtime nursing session or bottle feeding a bit earlier in the routine. Think: offer the feeding just before reading books, like this:

Step 3: Once that feeding is before the bedtime routine truly begins (out in the living room) for a few days, you can transition from a bottle or nursing session to a sippy cup when you’re ready. Please remember, if nursing is still working for your family, there’s no reason to transition this feeding to a cup.

What are some 12 month old milestones? #anchor

Here are a few milestones that you may notice around 12 months :

  • Standing unsupported

  • Taking a few steps without assistance

  • Going from standing to sitting independently 

  • Flipping through pages of a book 

  • Responding to their name

  • Following simple commands

  • Showing an attachment to a certain object or toy 

Each new milestone your baby achieves is so exciting, but please know these milestones are based on age ranges and every baby develops at their own pace. Make sure to speak with your pediatrician if you have any questions or concerns about your baby’s development.

What are some activities I can do with my 12 month old? #anchor

Here are some ideas to entertain and engage with your one year old: 

  • Try stacking activities with objects around the house or something like this block set.  Stacking helps build cognitive and fine motor skills. 

  • Explore sensory play together. Make taste-safe play dough together, dump a cup of Cheerios into a small bin and add some spoons and scoops, or simply fill up the bath and let your little one play.

  • Play with a busy board. Little ones at this age love zippers, strings, buttons, and snaps. Don’t have a busy board? Try letting your little one flip the light switch on and off.

  • Encourage some role-play with toys or household items that allow your baby to mimic everyday life (They love this!). Things like a toy stethoscope, a hairbrush to brush their doll’s hair, measuring cups to “make recipes,” a small broom to “help with cleaning.

  • Make music! Music is always a good idea (and a great way to stretch a wake window). Create a homemade band with pots and pans or something like this xylophone.

What time should my 12 month old go to bed?#anchor

I recommend a bedtime between 7:00-8:00 pm. This sweet spot bedtime can help your 12 month old fall asleep and stay asleep during the night. If your one year old’s bedtime is currently outside of this range and sleep is going well, don’t worry about making any changes. 

On the other hand, if bedtime is after 8:00 pm and your little one is taking longer than 20 minutes to fall asleep, having false start bedtimes, not sleeping through the night, or waking earlier than 6:00 am, consider shifting bedtime just a bit earlier for a couple of weeks to see if it helps. 

You may also have some days when things don’t go as you planned. Consider shifting bedtime earlier than 7:00 pm if:

  • Daytime sleep was less than 2-2.5 hours total.

  • A nap was short or refused.

  • Your 12 month old has been awake at least 3 hours and is really struggling to make it to bedtime, especially if they are sick.

How much sleep does a 12 month old need? #anchor

A 12 month old needs about 13-15 hours of sleep in a 24-hour period. Our goal for this total looks like 2.5-3 hours of daytime sleep and 10-12 hours of overnight sleep. I find that babies who are on the higher end of the range for night sleep are often on the lower end of the range for daytime sleep and vice versa. 

Is there a 12 month sleep regression? #anchor

Yes, I often see sudden changes in sleep around a baby’s first birthday. Your one year old is experiencing major strides in physical, cognitive, and emotional development, and these can often impact sleep. My best advice for dealing with the 12 month sleep regression is to be consistent. Often, making changes to your baby’s healthy sleep habits during a sleep regression can turn a little bump in the road into an ongoing sleep struggle. If you’ve been struggling for more than a short time, please know that I can help you with a holistic and fully customizable approach to sleep so you can establish great sleep, even in the midst of a regression.  

Does my 12 month old need a sleep sack? #anchor

A sleep sack is a great option for your 12 month old! While the American Academy of Pediatrics says it is safe to introduce a blanket after your baby turns one year old, I’ve found that blankets aren’t usually the best option for a 12 month old. As you’ve probably noticed, babies this age move a lot in their sleep! With all of this movement overnight, that blanket is probably not going to stay on your baby, which means that it won’t keep them warm. One of the benefits of a sleep sack is that it moves with your baby throughout the night to keep them warm and comfortable. Another benefit of a sleep sack is that zipping it up cues your baby’s brain to switch to sleepy-time mode and helps prepare your 12 month old for a nap or bedtime! Sleep sacks may also help prevent crawling out of the crib. We want your little one to practice new skills (like standing, climbing, or walking) during awake time. Wearing a sleep sack can help deter practicing while in the crib.

When can my baby sleep with a blanket or a lovey? #anchor

Your baby can sleep with a blanket or lovey after they turn one year old. The American Academy of Pediatrics recommends that a baby’s sleep environment is bare (except for a fitted sheet) for the first 12 months. This includes loose bedding, blankets, stuffed animals, comfort objects, and pillows. Once they turn 12 months, a lovey or a small blanket can be introduced.

When choosing a lovey for your one year old, make sure it is:

  • Soft: You don’t want your child hurting themselves when rolling on it at night.

  • Free of loose parts and choking hazards: No button eyes or removable parts.

  • An appropriate size: Think small enough to pick up and hold independently, but big enough to snuggle.

Expert Tip: I recommend having 1 (or 2 or 3) identical backup comfort objects in case the current lovey needs a bath or gets misplaced. Alternate between them so they have the same look and feel.

How do I introduce a lovey?#anchor

After 12 months, the American Academy of Pediatrics says that a lovey is safe for sleep. Here’s how you can introduce it to your little one:

1. Prepare to introduce the lovey.#anchor

Choose your lovey carefully, making sure it’s soft, free of loose parts and choking hazards, and an appropriate size. Be sure to have a duplicate (or several) on hand in case you need it. Consider sleeping with or snuggling with the lovey yourself so that it smells familiar when you introduce it to your child.

2. Incorporate the lovey into every day life. #anchor

When you snuggle with your baby, hold the lovey close and rub it along their cheek. When going on walks, tuck the lovey into the stroller with your little one. In the car, offer the lovey to your child to hold and cuddle.

3. Make the lovey part of your bedtime routine.#anchor

Encourage your little one to hold the lovey during bedtime books. If your lovey is a stuffed animal, kiss it goodnight and give your baby a chance to do the same.

4. Be patient.#anchor

An emotional connection to a lovey or comfort object takes time. Your little one may not seem interested at first. Keep offering opportunities to interact or snuggle with the lovey, and just know that whether your child chooses to bond with a lovey is up to them.

Can a 1 year old sleep in a toddler bed?#anchor

I find most 12 month olds sleep best in a crib. Little ones at this age are simply not yet developmentally capable of understanding the need to stay in bed or resisting any urges they may have to leave a bed. If your little one is sitting or standing in the crib, be sure that you have the crib mattress in the lowest position, and consider adding a sleep sack to prevent climbing out of the crib. 

Please remember that if you choose to transition to a toddler bed or use a Montessori bed, your child will likely roam free in the room at night. This requires that the entire room be as safe as a “crib” at that point. What does that look like? As part of the All-Russian competition for the best Ecolyat Snow Town – 2023, the Ecolyat Snow Town – 2023 was created in preschool educational organizations and general educational organizations of the Sakhalin Region on the territory of the Kindergarten No. 7 “Solnyshko”.

The snowy town is presented in the form of the Ecolyat Winter Zoo. Fairy tale characters Ecolyat – Clever, Naughty, Tikhonya and Yolochka introduce children to animals that live where it is always cold and snowy – at the North and South Poles.

Ecolyat Zoo is located on three levels of snow composition. On the lower level is the Reindeer camp. Naughty talks about what they eat and how they keep warm in the winter cold. If you climb the stairs above – you can get to the family of penguins. Quiet and Clever tell the children about the life of penguins, how they get food and hatch eggs. And if you go further along the path, you can see the parking lot of a polar bear, which regales itself on fish. The Christmas tree tells the children that the polar bear is the largest predatory animal on the planet, how it lives among the endless snows, what it eats, how it raises offspring.

Fairy-tale characters of Ecolyat – Clever, Naughty, Tikhonya and Yolochka not only acquaint pupils with animals and their habitat, but also teach careful and attentive attitude to the animal world.

Fall is in full swing and that means cooler weather, leaves changing, and some of our favorite holidays! We are excited about all the fall-themed activities and the yummy treats that we enjoy this time of year. With Thanksgiving right around the corner, now is the perfect time to talk about some of our favorite things we are thankful for, like dessert… especially pie! This free Question of the Day for Pre-K, Transitional Kindergarten, & Kindergarten will have your students excited to share what their favorite Thanksgiving pie is!

Free Question of the Day for Pre-K & Kindergarten

This pie-themed question, “Which pie do you like the most?” is great for holidays like Thanksgiving when we are enjoying ALL the sweet treats we can (sometimes too much!).

There are 4 answers for students to choose from: blueberry, cherry, pumpkin, and apple. We also included a response sheet for kiddos that are ready for more writing.

There are also editable name tags for graphing or voting!

Ways to Use the Question of the Day

As teachers, we know that most students love to share their thoughts and stories. That’s why I like to use our Questions of the Day during our Morning Meeting or Circle Time. It’s great to take their enthusiasm and turn it into a super fun group activity!

You can use the editable name tags to customize this activity and add an extra level of excitement. The students love seeing their own names printed out!

After talking about all of the delicious varieties of pie, it’s time to take a class vote. When it is their turn to vote, the kids come up and place their name tags with the card that shows their favorite piece of pie.

You can choose to display the votes vertically or horizontally in the pocket chart. This is a great opportunity to model graphing two different ways!

Be sure to laminate the question and pie cards for use year after year!

Use the response sheet as an extension of the class vote and graphing activity OR a fun morning arrival task.

The response sheet includes a sentence prompt that says, “My favorite pie is ______ because ______.” for students that are ready to show off their early writing skills.

The pie names are printed on the response sheet for early learners that may need a little more support. When they are done they can draw and color a picture of their favorite pie!

Would You Rather is a wonderful game for engaging young children and teaching them to think and reason. Play it at home, in class, while driving or prepping dinner.

This is a fun collection of Would You Rather questions for preschoolers, kindergarteners and even older kids.

It’s fun for all ages, including adults, so be sure to tweak the questions to make them age-appropriate if you’re playing it with small children.

To play the game, give children a choice between two options and ask them to justify their choice with reasons.

The options can be things you’d rather be, rather have, rather do, etc. 

This game teaches critical thinking skills, an important part of a child’s cognitive development in early childhood.

It also builds vocabulary, decision-making skills and listening skills.

There are two options: either ban the Internet altogether, or put up with it and just cherish the connection with your child. If there is no connection (no tenderness, no trust), no prohibitions will help – it will only get worse.

A year and a half ago I married an Italian citizen and moved to Lake Como with my 11 year old daughter. The first thing that struck me in local schools was the real “war” against gadgets. Children are strictly forbidden at school not only to turn on the phone, but even to get it out of the backpack.

By the way, many children do not have mobile phones at all. Yes, at 11, at 12! If there is any need, for example, the child feels unwell, the mother calls from the teacher’s phone or the teacher himself calls. Thus, the school turns on a powerful “filter”, automatically limiting children’s “hanging out” on the Internet for at least eight hours. No tiktok at recess.

Schoolchildren have their own WhatsApp chat, children chat and fool around there, but more often they discuss homework and school affairs. For bad behavior in the chat, they are scolded by teachers who can control it remotely. What is considered bad behavior? Not only “parolacci”, that is, swearing – this is completely suppressed. But long voice messages and any spam are also not welcome. In addition to safety, children are also taught the culture of online communication.

At home, each family can set restrictions on the viewing of certain Internet traffic for children, and this is also normal. As for the “edge”, it is very important to strike a balance here: trying to protect children from the dangers of the Internet, not completely cut off their oxygen and not educate a new analog generation that will be afraid of any digital tools.

Bank Teller: Job Description and Average Salary

Bank tellers are the first line of customer service in financial institutions as they provide the majority of customer transactional support in the local, regional or a national bank or credit union. Bank teller positions are typically filled with people who build relationships quickly with a diverse group of people, maintain trust and provide high quality service while performing highly repetitive tasks.

Job Description and Responsibilities

A person working as a Bank Leader spends most of their time assisting bank customers and credit union members with financial transactions. Customer transactions include cash checks or depositing money into a checking or savings account, ordering physical checks, transferring money between bank accounts, processing bank transfers, issuing cashier’s checks, and assisting with personal credit, mortgages, or credit card payments. The banker must verify the person’s identity to ensure compliance with money laundering regulations. Verifying the identity of a bank customer requires a person to provide personal information such as full name, date of birth, social security number, or personal addresses.

Bank tellers are also responsible for answering questions asked by current or potential bank customers. Common queries include current savings, savings or loan account balance, status of written or deposited checks, status of personal loan or mortgage application, and location of ATMs or fees. In addition, bank tellers must have a good understanding of each of their financial institution’s products in order to offer recommendations.

Bank tellers also open accounts for new bank customers or credit union members, either through the financial institution’s online platform or by paper application. Checking accounts, savings accounts, certificates of deposit, personal loans, and credit cards require a different application process, and bank tellers should be aware of the requirements needed to create and fund each type of account. Bank tellers do not typically handle the mortgage application process as there are more specific requirements and rules for home loan applications.

Experienced bank tellers may also supervise other tellers. Oversight often includes coordinating daily schedules and break times, so the checkout line is always staffed. Similarly, authorized bank tellers create and maintain weekly or monthly schedules for other tellers and bank employees. If a customer complaint arises, bank tellers with supervisory experience resolve it before involving a bank manager or shift supervisor.

One of the most important aspects of the job description of a bank teller is managing his cash drawer. At the end of each business day, bank tellers count the money collected in their drawers to ensure an overall balance that reflects the correct amount deposited and withdrawn during the day. If the bank counter box does not balance or is not equal to the daily transaction amounts plus the opening balance, the calculations must be redone until the box is balanced or an error is discovered.

Education and training

Most financial institutions do not require college education for potential bank tellers as this position is an entry level job. However, a high school diploma or GED is required for almost all bank teller positions. Some financial institutions require one or two years of customer service or cash drawer experience before offering a position as a bank teller.

Entry-level counters receive on-the-job training from more experienced counters. This is usually done by shadowing work to find out how transactions are completed and customer requests are addressed. The application process, cash counting and customer verification are carried out in the first few weeks after the start of bank verification.

Some financial institutions provide additional training for bank tellers who can complete customer transactions quickly and successfully while maintaining a balanced cash drawer. Banks and credit unions offer a variety of internal certifications that allow bank tellers to move to positions that require a higher degree of responsibility, such as chief teller, loan officer, or member service representative. Advancement in the career of a bank teller usually means moving into a position focusing on a specific product offered by a financial institution.

Skills

Since dealing with bank tellers is the first interaction that customers and members have with a bank or credit union, bank tellers need to have certain customer service skills. Individuals must be able to maintain a friendly demeanor with bank customers even when complaints or disputes arise, and they must invoke a high degree of reliability in every transaction.

Bank tellers must also be able to perform basic arithmetic quickly and accurately. The number of transactions can run into the hundreds on any given day, with most of them involving cash deposits and withdrawals. It is imperative that bank counters account for cash with speed and accuracy in order to maintain a balanced drawer at the end of each business day.

Salary

Bank tellers earn an average annual salary of $24, $940, or $11. 99 per hour, according to 2012 data from the US Bureau of Labor Statistics. In addition to the base salary, some financial institutions offer bonuses or bank teller commissions based on the number of transactions made each day, the number of cross-sells of other banking or credit products, or the number of new accounts opened.

According to research conducted by PayScale, the artists in this market will see a $6,000 increase in pay after three to four years, $16,000 after eight to nine years, and about $26,000 after 18-19 years. Thus, the candidates should look into how any offered salaries compare against those figures given their pre-existing experience levels and proficiency.

Expectations

Finally, although expectations are subjective, they still play an important role in determining whether a 3D modeler deems his or her salary as ‘good’. This particular point is approached with a mindset that the candidate’s expectations are reasonable. Luckily, this part is very easy as the 3D modeler in question simply has to ask themselves if they are satisfied. If the answer is yes, then the salary can be deemed ‘good’. If the answer is no, the modeler should look into the reasons why they are unsatisfied. In case that their reasons do not seem fair, they should simply adjust expectations.

Therefore, while the Bureau of Labor Statistics and other major researchers list the current average salary for 3D modelers between $60,000 and $70,000, those figures alone are futile. The reason why is that salaries succumb to local markets that distort and ruin comparability by putting pressure on them via costs of living, inflation, supply and demand, and so on. Thus, the only way to positively state whether a salary for a 3D modeler is good is to conduct in-depth analysis based on previously depicted steps.

You stay in an experienced teacher’s family home, have one-to-one Italian lessons and then continue to use the language during the rest of your stay in Naples. “Very useful, practical and up to date.

The school is located on Corso Umberto I 293, one of the most famous streets in the city center as it links the train station to the historic center. Nearby there are many bars, pizzerias and restaurants.
We are close to the Garibaldi train station (the central station of the city) and the Duomo 1 metro station. You can reach them on foot, as well as the harbor and the historic center. Just perfect!
NaCLIPS is located in a beautiful and recently renovated building, entrance A 4th floor with lift. Our hall is very bright and has large windows. You can find a hall with a secretarial station and 5 classrooms, including a large salon with 3 balconies as a common area for students. They can stop there to study, chat, drink tea and relax. We also organize seminars and events.
Each class is provided with tables, chairs, boards, air conditioners, fans, balconies. All classrooms are very bright and have high ceilings.
The school has a bathroom for students and one for staff. The library is at the disposal of every student, as they can choose between books on storytelling, grammar or Italian culture.

We are an Italian language school for foreigners in the heart of the historical center of Naples. Thanks to this strategic position a few steps far from our school you can find all you need nearby: bar, pizzerias, accommodation and, of course, historical sites and museums.
The city port and station is easily accessible on foot or by the public transport. All classrooms are air-conditioned and well lit. The Wi-fi system is available.
TEACHING QUALITY
We offer you a wide choice of Italian courses: individual, group, special and online courses. The quality of teaching is very good because all italian lessons in our school are tailored to your interests and needs.
It means that we don’t have standard schedules for students in the same linguistic level but every time change the school program!
For this reason at ITALIANOPOLI in group courses there are 6 students maximum!
All students receive at the beginning of their course a good text book that can keep when the course has finished.

Rospotrebnadzor places unvaccinated children in Moscow kindergartens

The metropolitan department of Rospotrebnadzor is trying to solve the problem of unvaccinated children. Earlier, the department banned them from attending kindergartens for two months due to the ongoing vaccination against polio. Officials are trying to transfer children to other groups, visiting which is not dangerous. Parents still intend to go to court.

GZT .RU spoke about Elena Razumovskaya, a young mother who was banned from taking her two children to kindergarten for 60 days, in early December 2010. The corresponding order was issued by the kindergarten administration in September 2010. Children from the group where Elena takes her kids are vaccinated against polio with the so-called live vaccine, which reproduces the infection in the body. The unvaccinated, according to doctors, are at risk of becoming infected. Elena refused to vaccinate her children. And the administration of kindergarten No. 2659decided to refuse to visit the garden unvaccinated children.

The garden administration’s order, in turn, was based on a letter from the Moscow department of Rospotrebnadzor, which was intended to clarify the Sanitary Rules 3.1.1.2343-08 Prevention of poliomyelitis in the post-certification period and the paragraph of the rules on the isolation of unvaccinated and vaccinated children from each other. Children who have not been vaccinated against polio (including a child who has one or two vaccinations) should be suspended from kindergarten for two months if there are children in the group who received a polio vaccination with live polio vaccine within the last two months , the document said.

Read Paragraph 4.4 of the Sanitary Rules In order to prevent vaccine-associated paralytic poliomyelitis (VAPP), when children are admitted to medical and preventive and other organizations who do not have information about immunization against polio, they must be isolated from children vaccinated with oral polio vaccine within the last 60 days.

Now the parents who refused to vaccinate their children and were denied access to kindergartens united and intend to challenge the sanitary rules in court.

After the publication of GZT .RU, dedicated to the current situation, Elena Razumovskaya, the main character of the material, received a call from Antonina Pyaeva, deputy head of the Epidemiological Surveillance Department of the Moscow Department of Rospotrebnadzor. The official explained that she was calling because of the publication in the online publication, where Elena’s name and the number of the kindergarten were indicated.

Elena Razumovskaya told GZT.RU that Pyaeva offered a compromise solution to the problem: the children would simply be transferred to other groups where there were no vaccinated babies. Ms. Razumovskaya explained that she agreed to this proposal, and a few days later the nurse actually called her and said that all three children had been transferred to other groups and could return to kindergarten.

Thus, the violation of the Federal Immunoprophylaxis Act in relation to my children is eliminated. The transfer (isolation of the unvaccinated from the vaccinated) is fully consistent with paragraph 4.4 of the Sanitary Rules, says Elena Razumovskaya. However, the children’s right to education is still violated, as a six-year-old child cannot receive the necessary pre-school education in the group of younger children. At the same time, the usual communication with peers, participation in the New Year holidays (learned poems are no longer useful – the kids have their own holiday program), and the child is experiencing severe stress, says Elena Razumovskaya. Parents who intend to go to court still believe that such frequent transfers from group to group are harmful to children, since there can be no question of maintaining the educational process and normal preparation for school in such conditions.

Therefore, going to court and appealing paragraph 4.4 of the Sanitary Rules Z.1.1.2343-08 Polio prevention in the post-certification period will still take place.

Antonina Pyaeva, Deputy Head of the Epidemiological Surveillance Department of the Moscow Department of Rospotrebnadzor, in an interview with GZT .RU noted that in such situations conflicts are resolved precisely by transferring children to other groups. In kindergarten, they try to find a group suitable for their age and educational program, she says. Unvaccinated children are denied access to the garden only in extreme cases, and Rospotrebnadzor officials are closely monitoring such situations, Ms. Pyaeva assured. Pyaeva found it difficult to comment on the prospect of a trial on the legality of a paragraph of the Sanitary Rules.

In other kindergartens

Head of Kindergarten No. 1021 Elena Shatilova told GZT.RU that she explained to parents a long time ago that they can notarize a document stating that they, in their right mind, take full responsibility for the child’s health. True, when asked whether in this case an unvaccinated child would be accepted back to kindergarten, Ms. Shatilova answered in the negative. In this case, the issue will be decided by the head of the medical service of the Military Educational and Scientific Center of the Ground Forces, the Combined Arms Academy of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation, to which a kindergarten is attached. Alexandra Sukhovetskaya commented to GZT .RU that the head suggested that such a paper be drawn up, but later refused her proposal. And the child was still denied entry to kindergarten.

Five stars might be the top ranking, but that’s not to say a day care with one star is bad for kids—it’s more likely that a one-star spot is new. “It’s a building block approach,” says Kristi Burre, DeWine’s director of children’s initiatives, “so a three-star rating has to have everything that the first and second star [day care] has,” plus additional qualifications.

A one-star day care, for example, must have a written wage structure, a description of professional development plans, community resource information, and a curriculum action plan. By comparison, a five-star program meets the qualifications of programs that receive one to four stars, plus additional offerings like family education information and health screening processes. “The thought is, it’s helping those new providers to put nuts and bolts in place to have a quality program,” Burre says. “As you continue to operate, these are things that’ll continue to grow.”

Kentucky All STARS is a similar system, run by the Governor’s Office of Early Childhood. All Head Start, public preschools, and childcare centers that receive public funding are required to participate, according to the Kentucky All STARS website.

A program that receives one star has met all regulatory requirements. Requirements are added gradually, until a care center receives five stars, with additional points for qualifications including family and community engagement and administrative and leadership practices.

Four Tips for Finding the Right Day Care

There’s so much to know when selecting a day care, and the U.S. Department of Education provides tips to find the best fit for your child.

What’s the best kind of day care for your child? For example: A relative? A provider who works out of their own home? A childcare center? A caregiver who comes to your home? Know the answer to this before even getting started.

Which option fits your budget? Head Start is available for low-income parents and guardians, as are state-funded programs. Based on your income tax forms, some families are entitled to childcare credits. Plus, some businesses offer low- or no-cost childcare to their employees.

If you select a publicly funded childcare option, what qualifications are necessary? Is a five-star provider required? Is a two-star one sufficient? You can search for regional childcare providers at childcaresearch.ohio.gov or kynect.ky.gov/benefits/s/child-care-provider.

How long has your provider worked with children? Why are they in the childcare field? Do the other children they care for seem happy?

Regardless of the type of childcare you’d like, the Department of Education urges parents and guardians to find facilities that are clean and safe. Childcare providers should be kind and responsive, energetic, and patient. They should have experience working with children—and they should like children.

What has prompted a review of lead in water systems across the nation?

Recent crises involving elevated levels of lead in drinking water in other cities in the United States have reached prominence on a national level. These events have resulted in federal and state regulators reacting to quickly review current regulations concerning lead in drinking water.

What has Greater Cincinnati Water Works been doing regarding the issue of lead?

GCWW provides treatment specifically to minimize the amount of lead that may leach into the drinking water. This treatment process, called corrosion control, minimizes the chance that lead can be picked up from home and building plumbing. GCWW has also recently joined with the Cincinnati Health Department and Hamilton County Public Health to expand its lead outreach to focus more on lead in schools and child care providers.

Why is there a focus on child care facilities?

Facilities such as schools, child care centers and family child care homes where children are routinely cared for should be reviewed for the potential presence of lead since young children are at a higher risk of adverse health consequences from lead exposure.

How might a child care facility’s children and staff be exposed to lead?

There are several sources of lead exposure in the environment, one of which may include drinking water, depending on the plumbing materials used at the child care facility. There is no lead in drinking water when it leaves the water treatment plant, and GCWW’s water distribution mains do not contain lead. However, water service branches (the water pipe that provides water from the water main in the street to a building) may be made of lead and/or plumbing materials and fixtures inside a building may contain some lead.

Where can I find out more information about sampling for lead in child care facilities?

The United States Environmental Protection Agency (USEPA) has developed a comprehensive document addressing lead in drinking water in schools titled the 3Ts for Reducing Lead in Drinking Water in Schools: Revised Technical Guidance Document (3Ts Guidelines). GCWW highly recommends child care providers follow the same practices outlined in this document to understand the water quality within their facilities.

Does GCWW provide sampling assistance?

GCWW will assist child care providers with creating a sampling plan and will analyze samples free of charge. Child care staff should expect to spend time completing a sampling plan as well as collecting samples. Sampling for lead is simple and can easily be accomplished by child care staff with minimal training.

Where should I sample?

Each drinking and cooking outlet within the child care facility should be sampled. This includes drinking fountains and sinks in restrooms and classrooms as well as sinks used for food preparation in the kitchen area. The 3Ts Guidelines explains in detail where sampling should be done.

When should I take a sample?

You should sample first thing in the morning when the child care program is active, before using water for the day. Sampling right after weekends and vacation periods (when buildings are vacant and no water is being used) does not provide an adequate representation of the water quality within child care programs. The 3Ts Document provides additional details on when to test drinking water outlets to obtain a representative sample for lead analysis.

Where can I get sampling bottles?

GCWW will provide free sample bottles/kits for you. These kits will either be mailed to you or you can arrange to pick them up.

How long will it take to receive the sample results?

It normally takes GCWW 2 to 3 weeks to analyze samples and provide the results. However, this time frame may increase or decrease depending on the volume of the workload at any given time.

What happens if the sample results indicate detections of lead?

GCWW will call or meet to discuss the results at no charge. If necessary, free follow-up sampling can be arranged. GCWW can also discuss short- and long-term remediation options with you.

Will I receive my results in writing?

Yes, GCWW will provide your results in writing.

What should I tell the families and parents at the child care facility about the sampling?

Performing sampling and eliminating sources of lead are very positive steps that show your program is being proactive in protecting the health of children. The 3Ts Document provides additional information about how to communicate with families.

What will GCWW do with the sample results?

GCWW will share the results with the Cincinnati Health Department, Hamilton County Public Health or other health departments where applicable.
